Speaker 3 (01:44):
Ten dollars for what that's ten dollars, and it might
be the quickest fine of the year.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
What it might be the quickest one.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
I thought we all agree on this SPT is in

Speaker 3 (02:04):
I know what the reference was, but it's the way
you referenced it. In terms of what the conversation was
on the text message like that was.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
That was a direct shot back at Q was.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
It was not We're going to sprinkle some NFL like
like you love the NFL.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
We know you love the NFL.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Bro, This is a peak behind the curtains.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
Jonas gets very passive aggressive, and he likes to do
it once he gets on a mic. So it's fine
sensitive like you do about it looking for Friday.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
You are the judge. Don't get too involved in the Q.
You're the you are the judge.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
I'm not getting involved.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
That was passive aggressive.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
As got so much college football to talk about, we
can't even focus on Jonas and all the shortcuts.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
That's fair, that's fair.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Let's get to book the appeal touring for Friday, all right.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Now, that's a game check right there.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
You've done it too many times like that's you're getting
You're going to get suspended a game.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
This is crazy.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
It's too too many unnecessary roughness penalties on you, Bro.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
I would like to hear a little behind the scenes.
If we're going behind the curtain, the scene, the sights,
the sounds of the game, which at least early on
seemed like it was going to be a game and
then it was a bit of an ass whooping in
the second half there, But in ann Arbor it looked
cold as balls. The stars were out. What was that

(03:39):
scenario and set up like there for this year's game
between Ohio State Michigan over the weekend, Brady.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
I mean, it was incredible in the sense of just
I think the amount of hype that was there for
Michigan because of the recent.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
Run of success when you've got guys.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
Like Tom Brady and Charles Woodson, Derek Jeter there them on.
But there also was moral Ohio State fans in the
big House than I had seen it a long time.
I remember when when we first sat down once we
got inside, looking around, thinking, I don't ever recall there
being this much redd in here. So Ohio State fans

(04:17):
kind of knew this was this is going to be
their year. This is going to be the end of
what was a four game winning streak really six years
if you think about it, when they dated back to
the last time they won because Michigan, you know, they
quote unquote didn't play in twenty twenty. Now you can
you could say either it was due to COVID or
some people have their conspiracy theory and Columbus that maybe

(04:39):
Harbond knew he was gonna get a hiss butt kicked
like they did in twenty nineteen.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
So whatever the case.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
May be, there is always a little bit of history
and and intrigue about how long it's been the fact
that Ohio State just couldn't figure out a way of
being able to dominate Michigan, and in this case they did.
And I'll say that it was kind of domination in
the entire game outside of the first offensive drive where

(05:06):
Sam took a deep shot. Michigan made a nice playing
the secondary, and then he made a mistake. You know,
he clearly threw a ball pass, didn't see the defender,
didn't see the coverage, and throws an interception. And the
one thing that I think you got to credit Ryan
Day with is I was concerned he was gonna throw,
like just throw away the game plan and feel like

(05:28):
the moment was too big for Julian Sam, which that
next drive they did kind of get conservative and run
the football a lot, almost like they had to get
away from it. But at the following drive after that,
they started to throw the football a round and that's
where you were like, okays, he's confident enough he's gonna
stick with this and he's going to allow his quarterback,
who's played like a Heisman Trophy winner all year long,

(05:52):
to continue to keep leading them.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
So credit to Ryan Day, credit their staff.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
Michigan's just not there, you know, talent wise, you could
tell they just were not at the level that Ohio
State was. And you know, honestly, I'm not sure there's
questions around or Sharon Moore if he's going to be
the guy or not. But this is now two years
in a row. They're not going to make the College
Faball Playoff. It's a departure from where they were under
Jim Harbaugh. And I'll say this, their offense is not

(06:18):
going to be conducive for Bryce Underwood, the mission quarterback,
to be what he can be. They've got to do
something to change that because all year long watching that team,
and I was there for a number of games, it
is frustrating watching how talented Bryce Underwood is and yet
there's just so much left to be desired.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
And I don't think it's necessarily on him.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
I don't think he's getting the type of coaching an
offensive system that helps him blossom into what is going
to be this ridiculous talent that we're talking about being
a first overall pick in the future.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
I think it's a difficult conversation if it If it
isn't Sharon Moore, if you ask me, because I can't
even imagine just going through what we're going through now
trying to figure out, you know, our next head guy
at Penn State. There are a ton of conversations like,
he didn't get that job just to get that job,

(07:13):
you know, it's just too much, too much at stake,
too many You mentioned Brady and Jeter and what'son being
at the game. There are so many people that are
involved with the program and with that university, Like he
didn't get that by accident. So it's like, if you're
going to move into the future and he's going to
have a fair opportunity of being able to recruit and

(07:37):
build that team up to where it needs to be
in nio era, I think now the conversation becomes what
are the resources that are going into building their roster? Right,
Like we hear those names that we just mentioned, what
are the resources, you know, where are they coming from?
I mean, the university itself is one that commands a
lot of dollar. But outside of that, from the alumni,

(08:02):
from the lettermen, from their you know, their collective, whatever
it may be. I don't know what they're spending. I
don't know the number, but what are they doing in
terms of being able to keep up with the big
dog that's spending the money, and that's that's Ohio State.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
Bryce Underwood is one of the most expensive players in
the history of college football. So that's that's where I
kind of point to. It's not a deficiency of money.
I mean, I've watched this team in person too many times.
Their offense is tough to watch. And it could be
Chip Lindsay, it could be Sean Moore. Obviously he's the
head of it. But they're sixteen and eight over the
past two years. And I'm not saying he got the

(08:42):
job by accident. Clearly didn't. But you know, he filled
in for Jim Harbaugh, did a good job when Jim
Harba went through those suspensions. But this has been a
team that's really struggled, I think, to find a consistent
identity to say.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Can we throw the football.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
This is two years in a row now, in this
game that they had a quarterback throw for less than
seventy yards and I know you won last year, but
I said it before. I was like, you're not gonna
win this year. Doing that that last.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Year was a fluke.

Speaker 5 (09:09):
That was one of the biggest flukes I've ever seen
where Ohio State just forgot how to play football and
then they obviously figured out championship.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
They really did.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
I don't know, man, Uh, it's great for college football though.
I mean it made this the Saturday, a pretty big Saturday,
pretty pretty interesting Saturday. I thought it was an entertaining game.
I thought I thought Brudekiss or butter kiss or or Brutus.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Bruded Brudiciss his his seawak him.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Yeah, yeah, because he definitely see walked the Ohio State
and then and then krip walked the eye when he
when he dited the eyes like that, even get away
with crossing out the m like that though. Didn't you
think he got in trouble for that? I mean it's
only snow, but still no, I got to pay attention
to him. That's crazy, man, Like how do the groundskeepers

(10:06):
not running over?

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Like somebody has to stop that? Like that?

Speaker 3 (10:11):
That said to me all I needed to know, how
does how does the the mascot get away with crossing
out the ELM in the in in the end zone
and then spelling Ohio and dotting the I like the
like the Marching band does, and nobody does anything.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
That tells me all I need to know.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
I mean, if in the perfect world he would have
got wiped out, Bruticus would have got wiped out, Oh,
wiped out, wipe out.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
For making snow designs on the field.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Jonas you you you don't like that tells me you
don't all the way fully get it.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
I mean, what are we talking about? Wiped out like
like what.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Like wiped out?

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Somebody should have tackled him, ran him, smacked over like
like he was a streaker. He made himself a streaker
in that moment. He's no different than somebody breaking the
law that shouldn't be there. And if if it was
a Michigan fan that went out there and streaked and
they tackled him, you tackled one of your own because
they they broke the rules. You can't be crossing out

(11:24):
the Michigan M. And that's no different than when Bush
was kicking the M and trying to deface it. When
when they were in Ohio and he was like dragging
his foot on on the O and all that stuff
or whatever.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
Like it's kind of like it's flag planning, it's field surf.
You're not to be able to do it.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
It's no different than any of those things. Though stupid
you put an X over the em in there in
there their their end zone out a home game. I
just I don't know, maybe maybe maybe for the sake
of conversation, Like when we say the day and age

(12:07):
of like fifty yard lines was that's a secret line.
It's a line that is an established line. You do
not cross the fifty yard line of the other teams, like,
you don't do things on their side of the field.
That's beef. Like I don't know if it's like that anymore,

(12:28):
but that's beef. You know when Warren Sapp used to
come out of the locker room, and if your locker
room is on the side of the opposing team, generally
the home team, but even if you are the home team,
you do not go through somebody's stretch line. You do
not run on their side of the field. There's just
certain rules that are unstated rules that you don't break.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
I did like how there was a picture that was
posted on social media afterwards, where it said Michigan players
stayed on the field to protect them, like they sit
on the field to protect the fifty yard lett, dude,
but you.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
Didn't protect the ill and the end Zoe when when
Brudokis was krit walking all over your logo like you don't.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
Like Uh, that was a nice tweet by Cardil Jones
just said that, Yeah, I should have protected the one
the end zone the whole game.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Yeah, yeah, also the uh, you know, the the hope
and a prayer of and look, I think they got
the call wrong the Jeremiah Smith bobbling the ball over
the end zone. That it's a terrible rule, but that
probably should have been a touchback. But if that was
really your last breath as far as keeping that game

(13:37):
close and keeping it competitive, that i't to tell you
everything you need to know, because Julian Sayan was awesome
after that interception. That was a fourth down call to
as you pointed out, to pull the trigger and go
deep like that in that moment. And he's got to
be I would imagine based on where this team is
at in the rivalry the past five years, Julian Saye's

(13:59):
got to be a made man in Columbus right now,
Like he's got it, like that he etched his place
in this rivalry that he's going to be able to
hold on to for the rest of his life.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
Yeah, I think there's questions. This is probably the coolest
game he's ever played in his career. Now he's been
in Ohio State now for a little time to practice
in this weather, but to go out and execute and
do it in the moment, I mean, it takes some
balls to do it, and then he was able to
showcase that. I want to go back to the play though.
I thought that play because a lot of people say, well,
if you know, if it ended up being a fumble

(14:31):
touchback changes the memento of the game.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
And you're not wrong.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
And I think in talking to Dean Blandino more about it,
he had initially led me to think like, yeah, it
probably should have been a fumble touchback, But then the
more we talked about it, the more they slowed it down.
He even said, look, it was going to come down
to what was whatever it was called in the field,
because you there was a moment where he caught it.

(14:58):
He was going towards the end zone and before he
lost control in the end zone. He actually had pinned
it with his right arm into his chest as he
was crossing, like the initial part of the goal line.
But that might have been like if the line is,
you know, four inches wide, however long that white line is,
that is the goal line, He's like it was probably

(15:21):
coming out on the other side of that line, Like
that's how tight that call was. So his whole point
was it was going to be whatever they called it
on the field. And even though the rule probably needs
to be changed or reevaluated because circumstances like that are
so different. I mean, you're not even talking about like
the defense recovering him really losing complete control. It's just

(15:42):
it's such an interesting rule the way it's it's always been,
and we've complained about it, but no one wants to
change it. So maybe there will be a push to
change it at some point. But that wasn't going to
be the difference in the game. I mean, Ohio State
got so conservative in the second half running the football.
If they wanted to, they probably could have put up
another couple of touchdowns on them. I mean, that was

(16:02):
that was the stark of a difference between Ohio State
Michigan as we've had in quite a while. I mean,
you can go through the last four years of Michigan winning,
and outside of a couple of games where they had
some big fourth quarter runs, those games have been tight.
That game never really felt tight, Like honestly, even going
into half, You're like, this should be a blowout, it

(16:22):
should be worse than what it is.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
I was hoping they were within field goal range and
Ryan Day would have kicked a field goal at the end,
just too if it got to fourth down.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Just to do it, Yeah, why not just do it?

Speaker 1 (16:34):
All the crap he's had to hear from Michigan fans
over the last four or five years, like all of
that stuff that he's had to listen to, Just kick
a field goal and put the dagger in and just
see what happens after that.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
I'll say, even portanoid man, I we didn't see him.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
You know, he left.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
He's gotta playing the catch.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
That's usually what he ends up saying.

Speaker 5 (16:56):
He's gotta he's gotta go, He's got to play the catch. Now,
my experience line private is.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
You know those when you want to leave, Yeah, they
don't leave until you want to leave.

Speaker 5 (17:06):
So the fact that he's leaving kind from his life,
got playing catch the game, got to be on time.
Doesn't want to be a part of something. I mean,
I just you know, it was such a pleasure to
work with him this year. It's a little upsetting he
just decided to want to dip out like that.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
So he just showed y'all what y'all's true friendship is
and how deep it runs. It doesn't run.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
It's professional as those those blue blue and mad that
mazing gold, mazing yellow ties that he has.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
Hey, let me ask you all this.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
After watching the game, I said to myself, I've seen
the number two team play in person. I've seen the
number one team play. I don't think it's close. I
think Ohio State is in the league of their own
as a team. I don't think there's one team that's
even close to Ohio State. But with that being said,

(17:53):
we get to see number one and number two. I
think in the first time in history that that number
one number two are going to play in the championship game,
at least in the Big ten. I'm not sure which
one is the history of it all or whatever, but anyways,
one into two. I think this is a This is
a super super big game for Kirk Signetty because of

(18:17):
the clout, the clout involved in this game, if he
were to be able to win this game. I don't
see anyone being able to beat Ohio State this year.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
I don't. I don't know how they've gotten so good
and how the gap is what it is this.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Year's academics people want to do.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Maybe that's what it is man that that high standard
of how they do it. I don't know, but whatever
it is, it's working, and it just it appears to
be a gap like you can you can walk with
Ohio State in the first half, but they eventually walk
you down and then walk away. And they've done it

(18:58):
all year long, like they have pretty much hammered everybody
within the same face unless it was a team that
just wasn't good. Otherwise, if it was a good team,
they walk you down.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
I just don't.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
I think it's interesting to see what what Kirk Signetti
and this Indiana team will be able to do.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
I don't think that they have enough to be able
to handle or deal with Ohio State, but I could
be wrong, and I find it to be an intriguing
matchup because you know that that is the other team
that you could say is it's a hot team. They've
found a way to always win and and now here's
a matchup to see who wins the conference the conference title.

Speaker 4 (19:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (19:41):
I think it's an interesting question because I don't know
that Indiana has a lot of weaknesses and I think
we we kind of or some people look back on
last year and go, yeah, well, well is Indiana like
who they played? They haven't played the toughest competitions. They dude,
they won an Oregon, they won in Penn State in
the final moments they did. They've bludgeoned everyone else they've played.
I mean it's it's not really been close.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (20:02):
Then that includes like a good Illinois team who was
eight and four this year but eligible, and they had
to play Ohio State, they had to play you know,
s see a really tough schedule, and you start kind
of combing it through and I mean maybe say, well, Iowa,
you know they was that was a tight game also
on the road, Like they had a really difficult schedule

(20:23):
and they answered the bell every single time. And no
one's playing if you want to say join sans playing
at a Heisman level.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
So is Francisco Mendoza.

Speaker 5 (20:31):
I mean it's you just you look at what he's
doing and you just say, okay, like Fernando, excuse me.
You look at what he's doing right now and say
and then even the receivers, their receivers are just as productive.
Omar Cooper Junior who made the great catch for US
Penn State, and Elijah Surratt, both those guys are playing

(20:54):
at equal to a level of what Carnel Tate and
Jeremi Smith. Now I'm not saying they're going to be
viewed as the same prospects when they are getting drafted,
like Carnil Tay first round, Jeremi Smith first round.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
I don't know if I can say that for Surat
and Cooper Jr. But you match these teams up, they
are about as even as you can get.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
And I think the only thing I've become concerned by
is the ability for Indiana to run the football. And
if they can, you know, can they protect quite as well?
And I think that's what got exposed a little bit
at Penn State. And now I'll say this, what they
needed to protect they did, and they were able to
find a way of winning that game. But that was

(21:37):
one of those games where you're kind of watching and
going all right, like, maybe this is a little bit
of that weakness. But I mean, they were well coached,
they're sound, they don't make mistakes. I think it's to
be a hell of a game.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
I really do.

Speaker 4 (21:48):
Between these two teams.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
I know you can't bring up prior years, but I'm
going to.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
I just feel like we felt this way in a
lot of ways about India and last year, and then
they got into that playoff game.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
But they didn't play one last year.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
And I get that, and I know you laid that
out very nicely. You gave it is a different quarterback.
I just think program wise it still it matters. It
should be stated that when they got up against the
real team in the playoff they got spanked.

Speaker 5 (22:24):
Well they they got spanked by Ohio State. Last year
they played, they played. They haven't played Ohio State yet
this year. The cigarette I would be.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
I would not be shocked if if Ohio State mollywops
Indiana and in this game, I would not be I
would not be shocked if they did. That's all I'm saying.
I've seen both him good this year. The Ohio State.
I think it's that good year. I think Ohio State

(22:57):
is that good.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
I really do.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
I mean, I ain't gonna hold them. I really think
Ohio State is that good. I don't know who's close
to them. That's that's and and going in his stretch.

Speaker 5 (23:07):
If you go back and look at the film, this
like yesterday's or Saturday's game, like, there's some things where
there were some weaknesses there.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
You know, Michigan was.

Speaker 5 (23:15):
Kind of attacking this the C and D gaps and
the outside edge, and they got away from it and
it was effective, like they were.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
They knocked off some big runs.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
They were moving the football early doing that, and I
honestly didn't think it wasn't like Ohio State did it
much to adjust to it. It felt like it was
a bit more of just Michigan getting away from it,
which has been always my griper issue with Chip Lindsay's
I just I've never really loved watching his tape and
feeling like the offense is able to stand to a rhythm.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
So I don't know, I mean, I'm not sure how.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
The same thing running the ball early they had success
early against Ohio State, look look promising and then and
then Ohio State turned on uh the Willy Beaming Willy
Beaman reactor juice, like they just they just disappeared, like
just out of there, gone like second half. I don't

(24:06):
know what their adjustments were at the halftime or or
if they just wore down what we had going on,
but just seeing what they did in the second half
was like they they they started airing it out even
more because they aired it out early in the game,
but they started they I mean, they came out airing
it out. I just I think their ability to be
able to score when they want to score Ohio State,

(24:29):
they can, they can. I just don't think their guys
are are coverable and they have a good compliment in
the run game and their defense play. I just don't
know that there's a team I watched Georgia play, I
watched Alabama play like, I just don't know their feel.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
Like their best is way better than anybody else's.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
That's that's I mean in my estimation, in my estimation,
and it's going to be interesting to see that a
team that that was just described the same way that
that Brady just described him, which I feel is accurate.
This is an Indiana team that matches up well, that
has a team. They got they got victories, they they

(25:11):
have reason to believe that this can be a game.
I just don't think that they're that close to being
that good as Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
I don't. I don't be interesting to see if Kirk
Signetty gets this win.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
That talk about a heavy ass feather, because I ain't
never heard of a feather being heavy, But that's a
heavy feather in his cats.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
Good point.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
I mean, I know we're going to talk about lank.
That's a big old bitch there.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
Great point, by the way, get tools of performance, the
highest every job feather without comprise. When you shot Makda
at the home depot, when the job calls for the
best call on Mikida, built to be the best available
at the home depot, pros get more done. So we
are gonna have the usuals for you coming up here

college football discussion coming up here just a couple of
moments from now. But first it is time for the

(27:24):
tire rack play of the.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
Day, Denver with the Blitz on the way.

Speaker 8 (27:28):
Boll the fucking by Nick Banto.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
He the Broncos with it. Great play by Nick Benito.

Speaker 6 (27:34):
He came untouched and the Broncos in overtime have beaten
the Commanders twenty seven to twenty six.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
That is a heavily Justin Cooper influenced tire rack play
of the Dane of the Broncos Bonito Nick knocking down
Who Conversion by Marcus Mariota Benito unbelievable coop, by the way.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
Kind of like Lane Kiffin knocking down little miss is offer.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
I guess that's not very nice. By the way, for
over forty years, Tyreck's been helping customers find the right
tires for how, what and where they drive. Shipped fast
and freeback by free Road, has a protection with convenient
installation options like mobile tire installation, tiraq dot com the
way tire buying should be and it's official. Lane Kiffin

(28:27):
is now the head coach of the LSU Tigers. Congratulations
to everybody in Baton Rouge. You've got your guy.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
Talk about it page off of Heart Heart Work.

Speaker 5 (28:41):
So I think I think in order to do this properly,
and we don't like to get too overextended with all
this stuff. There's different ways of looking at and talking
about this. I think the first thing I'll just.

Speaker 4 (28:52):
Generally ask, why do you guys feel like he left
Old Miss.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
It's a great question that I've been asking myself of
the entire time. Did they offer because it's always the
bottom line. It has to be the bottom line. Like
at the end of the day, you could say, oh,
I love being here and they loved you and this,
that and the other and that, But when it comes
down to you being a coach or being paid for
a service that you do, that's exactly what it is.

(29:19):
It's a service you're being paid to do. So it's
the bottom line to.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Me, what did do we know?

Speaker 3 (29:25):
What what Ole Miss offered him? I mean twelve million
a year? Did they come close to the twelve million?
Did they more than It's one.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
Of the reports was there was something similar to Florida
and LSU's offer.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
It was similar, which what does that mean?

Speaker 5 (29:41):
Well, which which it was twelve million, but with incentives
it gets close to like fourteen from LSU, which gets
you around seven years almost.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
One hundred million, and That's where I kind of first go.

Speaker 5 (29:53):
You can say you would have matched, but you didn't,
or if I mean or you didn't overpay either you
didn't spend that.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
Stuff thought we'll pay you fifteen.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
It's the bottom line, Like whatever whatever he heard and
the offers, I think if ole Miss put an offer
out there that was was the same as LSU's, I
think he stays at Old Miss.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
I really did did. I think he does, because here's
the thing.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
They're about to go into a college football playoff, and
who's to say that if Lane Kiffin is the head
coach of this team, that they don't make a run
for the championship. Who's to say they don't win the championship.

Speaker 5 (30:38):
It's a valid question, and we'll get to that because
I do think there's something I want to point out
as another layer of this, but join us.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
Why do you think that I think that he views
himself as bigger than ole Miss? I think he I
think in the back of his mind he views ole
Miss as a second tier program to a place like
LSU and four.

Speaker 5 (31:01):
Okay, so though I'll tell you because I think it's
on this regard, I think financially with what LSU was
offering and probably not what Old Miss will offer because
one of the underlying things is you heard about the contract.
What seven years twelve million, but up to fourteen with
incentives that gets you around ninety eight million. There's also
supposedly a commitment of thirty five million a year in

(31:25):
nil and recruiting. So the difference between whatever Brian Kelly
left for and what did or did not happen was
largely tied to Brian Kelly not wanting to recruit. I mean,
having money is one thing. Being able to actually go
out recruit the kids. Everything else that's a whole different thing.
So now you've got a guy who is going to recruit,

(31:46):
who does have the money and does have the offensive acumen.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
So I think it's the money combined with what Jonas
just touched on.

Speaker 5 (31:54):
He feels like and then we're talking about the greatest
season in Old Miss history, the greatest one of success
in Old Miss history. And what's interesting about Lane making
this decision is he feels like they're probably out their
steiling now you can use which is kind of crazy
when you look at Indiana, for example, what Kurt Signetti

(32:15):
has done Vanderbilt, what Clark Lee has done some of
these other schools that you look at how these other
coaches have made them into what I think we believe
to be playoff contenders. The ability to take compete for
a national championship, you know, is that sustainable in the
long term. We're going to find out. It's a year
two of Kurt Signetti. You know, Clark Lee has been
there for a little bit building this thing up. But

(32:36):
after Diego Pavia leaves, what's that offense going to look like?
I mean, it wasn't like it was offensive, you know,
prowess for Vanderbilt At times it's just Diego Pavia making
a play, you know, the play after the play when
he starts to scramble around or takes off and runs
on pass play, So we get to see a real
view of what that's going to look like. And I

(32:57):
think Jonas to your point, like Lane Kiffen believes LSU
is gonna be able to win a national championship easier
than what Ole Miss is gonna be able to do.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
He's in position to win one right now they don't,
which I think is the most preposterous thing.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
You get me, but Hurt, do you think.

Speaker 5 (33:15):
He believes that though because I also feel like he
doesn't believe that if he's choosing to leave, if he
really thought they had a shot, if he really thought
they had a shot. And I guess I'll just bring
this up now. They've never been a good defensive team.
Elaine kiff and coach team has never been a good
defensive team. They weren't at SC, they weren't at FAU.

(33:39):
I think I think it's high water marks, like third
or fifth in any conference he's been in defensively, And
I'm going back to what conference USA for FAU. You
can look at Ole mess They've never been good defensively.
They've never been well the high ranked defensively. If you
really want to make the comparison, and I did this

(33:59):
to you guys last week, Lincoln Riley and Lane Kiffin
are not that far apart. And Lincoln Riley was in
a much better situation, or left a much better situation
at Oklahoma than where Lane Kiffins had to kind of
jump around to different programs and build those things back up.
But neither has ever been able to fully coach a

(34:22):
dominant football team.

Speaker 4 (34:24):
They've always been great offensively.

Speaker 5 (34:26):
They've always had guys who could say, oh, they might
be in the Heisman you know, a Heisman conversation, or
you know Lincoln Rabs coached some Heisman winners.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
It's just been.

Speaker 5 (34:35):
Purely offensive football. They've never been teams would say, man
that defense though, it's.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
Never been thinking I think he's set up for I mean, listen,
at this point, it doesn't I guess it doesn't really
matter if you underperform once you've pluy, once you've coached
well enough to get the type of contracts a Lane
Kiffin has just has just got reportedly, So to me,

(35:02):
it's like, I don't I think he will fall in
the same type of category as Kelly did. I think
a lot of times that's what's going to happen. You
get these large contracts, but you're probably never going to
outperform the amount of money that that university is going
to pay you. I don't think he will. Whether he
gets a defense in Baton Rouge or not, I don't

(35:26):
think he will.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Now.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
As far as him believing what he has right now
and can he do it and is his defense good enough,
all I would say is it's led to him getting
this moment. It's led to him getting this contract, And
to me, that's bigger than him winning the national title.
Like as a professional, his job, occupation and his performance

(35:50):
led to him getting the ultimate reward, which is a
contract that pays him the type of money that he's
going to get paid. So whether he believed it or not,
I guess it's immaterial because he's gotten the results that
that he would want to have, whether it came from LSU,
whether it came from Old Miss.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
He got what he wanted. So I don't I think
you gotta let the guy play it out.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
That's what I say. You gotta let him play it out.
Like I'm not gonna I'm not gonna spike myself. I'm
not going to punish my university in my team by saying, Okay,
he chose to leave, he's gonna leave after this. There's
a respect factor there between him and his players. And
the way Lane Kiffin comes across, he probably allowed his
guys behind the scenes or or behind the curtain of

(36:36):
what he was thinking and that we don't need to
let this be a deterrent or distraction of what's going on.
We all got things to do. He had, He very
much has that type of personality. You let them, You
let them cats try to finish what they did. He
didn't say I'm taking the job and I'm leaving. He
said they told him they relieved him of his duties
when he said he was going to take the job

(36:57):
out of LSU. I don't think that was why that
all on old missus Park to do that, But well
it hits here, no oid there.

Speaker 4 (37:05):
I guess we don't have enough time to talk about it.

Speaker 5 (37:06):
But I do want to talk about that because I
do believe that there's again layers to this conversation that
are worth discussing.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
Yeah, I mean listen, and every Olympic dream starts with
the first glide. Just see you guys know pointing through

lots of checks are being handed out in the world
of football. We'll get into that more for you coming

DraftKings again. That's Promo Code two PROS. At DraftKings, the
crown is yours. So Laane Kiffin is gone, He's out
the door, He's in Baton Rouge. He's now the head
coach of the LSU Tigers. Would you guys like to
hear his reasoning behind the decision?

Speaker 4 (38:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (38:29):
Like you all right?

Speaker 1 (38:30):
So here he was talking to Marty Smith of ESPN
about why he made the decision and party.

Speaker 4 (38:37):
By the way, Yeah, I got in sleep for three days.

Speaker 1 (38:40):
By the way, he is awesome. He also talked about,
you know, his conversations with Ole miss about wanting to
stick around and see this thing through as far as
this season goes, and how that all played out.

Speaker 8 (38:53):
My heart was here, but I just you know, I
talked to some mentors, Coach Carol, Coach Saban, you know,
and especially when coach Carrol seven and your dad would
tell you to go, man, take the shot.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
You know, take the shot.

Speaker 8 (39:05):
You've accomplished a lot here.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
You know.

Speaker 8 (39:08):
I always felt I always hated how we only gave
one year to Tennessee and left. I really hated that
feeling of that, you know, even though it was exciting year.
But you know, I think that we gave a lot
to this program and to the city and you know,
some of those historic wins in this stadium they ever
had and best best regular season in the history of
the school. So I feel proud of that part. But

(39:30):
it became time, you know, I talk to God and
go mean, it's time to take a new step. It's
a new chapter again. I totally respect Keith's decision.

Speaker 2 (39:38):
So that was his decision. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (39:40):
Yeah, he asked me not to come to the meeting
and said I couldn't come, but which I totally understand.
You know, I don't know that I necessarily agree with that.
You know, we're trying to find a way, you know,
to make this work and coach the team and give
the team the best chance to win. But I also
he's got a job to do, and like he said,
he has to live here. Like he said, maybe all
the national people understand why you should let me coach,

(40:01):
but he has to live here and it's a little
different wing they do. So totally respect that. And Keith
has been amazing to us over the six years.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
Man, just pray on it.

Speaker 4 (40:11):
Man, Well, isn't he giving you though? When he's saying like, hey,
we've had the best season.

Speaker 5 (40:16):
We give him so much, but they take this opportunity, Well,
what's the opportunity is the opportunity to win a national
championship then at LSU, because you can't at Old Miss.

Speaker 4 (40:25):
You feel like you're out your ceiling or it's unlikely.
Like that's what he's in essence admitting to us when
he says that.

Speaker 1 (40:31):
In my opinion, it feels like he's saying, I mean,
you should be thankful for what I did for you,
like you should, like you can talk about me leaving.

Speaker 2 (40:39):
They should. Okay, he's not lying. He gave him their
best season.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
And I gotta live here is your best reasoning to
say why I don't want you coaching.

Speaker 2 (40:50):
I gotta live here, like let him finish out. Listen.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
Life is about working, creating opportunities, and giving yourself an
opportunity to make decisions in moments of success, just like
you got to find out ways to do things in
moments of defeat. So I mean, I don't this is
not unique, This isn't new. So the fact that he

(41:17):
wanted to move on, it's just like we had to
move on.
