This kind of bothers me about soccer, and the more
I see it, the more I'm like, this has got
to be for whatever reason, it's just accepted. Like there's
certain things in soccer that are just accepted, and it's like, hey,
you know, like flopping, all right, just it's part of
the deal.

I do think, you know, without getting in the weeds
on a lot of it, like this is what I've
noticed about soccer, which kind of bothers one. And I
enjoy watching the World Cup. I love Italy, I love
the national team. I followed them for years, which is
probably why they missed the last three World Cups. But
you know, I digress. So there's a couple of things
that bother me. The simulation of the flopping I think

doesn't sit well with a lot of people. The other
thing that we've talked about is there's this lack of
accountability and this immediate response to point the finger at
the other guy when a goal is given up or
a near goal is given up that you just don't
really see or wouldn't be condoned or accepted in virtually

any other sport that we watch, like they're just it
wouldn't be okay for you know, quarterback throws an interception
or throws a near interception and the wide receiver and
two or three linemen then point them out all the time.

start calling out the coach and his tactics. There's no accountability,

I thought we should have done this different, and we
should have done that different. It just feels like for
anybody that says, well, for anybody that says, the stars
run the NBA and and if the star wants something,
it gets done with an organization.

It feels likes feels like soccer has that times ten
like to where if a star wants anything done, they
will call you out publicly.

Yeah, I mean the first of huff. I don't think
that's any different than any other sport. I'll say this
as well. It's tough because they play for a professional
team elsewhere, so they have a separate coach elsewhere from
their national team coach. So there is like the bulk
of play that's not actually for France, for example, but

for their professional team where they actually might like their
strategy better.

So, just like any other sport.

Where a basketball player airs his grievances with the coach's
decisions or their players, it happens all the time. But
way in baseball they play a bajillion games, how many
times do you see outfielders who run into each other
going for a fly ball, that argue or say something.
How many times you see a pitcher catcher get into it.

It happs all the time like this.

It's not unique in sports to have players get upset
with each other and each other out.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
Is it a good thing for it? No, of course not.
But that's part of the emotions of sport.

And it happens especially in you know, big moments, critical moments.

So everything you're saying to me is is not unique
to soccer. That happens in every single thing.

Players basically get ready to not coaches out on sale,
and that's rare and you can point those out and
remember them.

Three receivers don't get it. But those three is going

something like they're gonna look over at the sideline like.

that feels like that's a wide receiver thing. Watch a

very bad offensive performance, and see what they look like
as a sudden change of possession. And see how they

one another.

wear your jersey on Fridays and to wear a Letterman

jerseys on Fridays. We had a we had to wear
like a polo shirt and a tie. And the tie
that I got was a clip on tie I got

visual evidence. You gotta find a photo of you in

view on it because he was such a great pitcher
and sort of that that whole idea behind that. I
thought that was great. You know, people being miked up,
players being miked up during during the game, I thought
was fun. I just yeah, it does feel like, you know,
they were trying really hard to uh to push some

stuff in there that I just I don't know that
it necessarily fit or worked all that well. But you know,
what are you gonna do? I mean, you know, if
guys can't make contact with the ball and they can't
get a hit, then you know you've got to try
and do something to spice things up.

But I think you'd agree, though, midjor League baseball has
had one of the better all stars of all of
professional sports, right.

that bother me. The simulation of the flopping I think

thing that we've talked about is there's this lack of
accountability and this immediate response to point the finger at
the other guy when a goal is given up or

really see or wouldn't be condoned or accepted in virtually

any other sport that we watch, like they're just it
wouldn't be okay for you know, quarterback throws an interception
or throws a near interception and the wide receiver and
two or three linemen then point them out all the time.

it gets done with an organization.

It feels likes feels like soccer has that times ten
like to where if a star wants anything done, they
will call you out publicly.

team elsewhere, so they have a separate coach elsewhere from
their national team coach. So there is like the bulk
of play that's not actually for France, for example, but

for their professional team where they actually might like their
strategy better.

Where a basketball player airs his grievances with the coach's
decisions or their players, it happens all the time. But
way in baseball they play a bajillion games, how many
times do you see outfielders who run into each other
going for a fly ball, that argue or say something.
How many times you see a pitcher catcher get into it.

It happs all the time like this.

It's not unique in sports to have players get upset
with each other and each other out.

Is it a good thing for it? No, of course not.
But that's part of the emotions of sport.

So everything you're saying to me is is not unique
to soccer. That happens in every single thing.

Players basically get ready to not coaches out on sale,

visual evidence. You gotta find a photo of you in

that's gonna be a lot of Look, the All Star
Game was great. I thought, you know, Fox does a
great job actually getting to hear the pitcher and the
catcher talk and determine which pitch they were. Dylan like,

that's awesome, and again you know John Smoltz's point of
view on it because he was such a great pitcher
and sort of that that whole idea behind that. I
thought that was great. You know, people being miked up,
players being miked up during during the game, I thought
was fun. I just yeah, it does feel like, you know,
they were trying really hard to uh to push some

stuff in there that I just I don't know that
it necessarily fit or worked all that well. But you know,
what are you gonna do? I mean, you know, if
guys can't make contact with the ball and they can't
get a hit, then you know you've got to try
and do something to spice things up.

But I think you'd agree, though, midjor League baseball has
had one of the better all stars of all of
professional sports, right.

Yeah, yeah, because you can actually simulate in an exhibition
style what an actual game looks like. Yeah, yeah, football
you can't in basketball.
