he's already a career backup.

that long ago he got drafted, and I know what

of gloss over it and say, well, that's it, books written,
he's done, and it's like, dude, he hasn't been in
the league that long and he's just bounced around, and yeah,
he's probably just looking at it being a career backup
from now on.

I think it's pretty plain and simple. If you're projected
as a top round pick and you go into you know,
you go into the draft in the first round, they
are expecting you to be a guy that will play,
you will eventually be a starter in the in the

in the league, and he got his opportunity to start,
by the way, he did get an opportunity to be
the starter uh in Pittsburgh for a time. It it
just hasn't worked out for him, and for whatever the
reason may be, it's it's probably safer to say that
he is a career back up to journeymen to in

and out of the league as needed, two over to
it being done where he's at at this point, and
and I don't know, I think it's I think it's
pretty safe to say that at this point. So Kenny
Pikett is not to me fighting for a starting job tonight.
He's obviously battling for the backup position and that's what

what it'll be for him probably at most unless an
injury takes place.

opportunity and bounced around. But those feel like the exceptions.
They were the starter starters though. Those were guys that
played and impacted their teams. Kenny Pickett was we were
there when he got drafted in Vegas and it was,

Because the problem with the Hall of Fame game when
the field isn't melting like it did a few years back,
is that you get really excited they kick off. You
watch the first couple series and you realize, oh, this
is nowhere close to the real thing, and that everybody

just sorts sort of tunes out. This is where sports
gambling takes center stage and makes everything that much better.
So what would be some wagers to throw down to
try and make this game somewhat enticing? I mean, we
know the starting quarterbacks are going to be but if
Jeremiah loves not playing, you know, and some other key
members of both teams aren't playing, how can we add

some spice to this to make this game worthwhile?

the first preseason game.

The first one I played in was Detroit, which they
let me go in like the final gosh, what was
it like eight minutes nine minutes in the fourth quarter,
So went in drop down to scoring drives because we
were down by decent amount, so it kind of brought
us back, had super board conversion and then I think

We ended up losing.

It was close though, but like I had a couple
of nice touchdown drives touchdown passes, so.

I mean the coolest part about it is I personally
felt like to be thrust.

Yeah, A two minute drill is actually awesome because you're
not you're playing so fast, you're not really thinking as much.

It's about everything else, you know.

In the NFL, like especially when you huddle there, it
feels like there's it's an eternity between one play to
the next, and obviously there's a lot of things going
on in between. So it was nice to be like,
all right, like I know, we know the situation. You know,
like you've got to go down and get points because
we're down by a couple of scores and this is
the deal.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
So it was cool.
Speaker 5 (19:48):
It was cool, And because I was a rookie, obviously
a lot of the guys I was playing with at
that time were guys who were.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
In my rookie class.
Speaker 5 (19:55):
So that was the easiest part for me too, because
back then, you know, as rookie, you got there early.
You were with those guys all the time. I mean,
you went through everything, even outside of like your install,
you were like hanging out together, you know, meals together,
doing all the like rookie symposium stuff and like training
you had to do. So like those guys with some

of the guys that threw the most passes to you know,
whereas once you got in with like the ones, those
were only guys you mixed in every once in a while,
so you didn't have as great a chemistry as you
did with the guys that you actually came in with
as a rookie class.

So it was it was fun.

I mean, there's nothing like it, you know, there's nothing
like like living out that dream of putting on the
helmet and everything else. The hard thing is once preseason's
over with a lot of those guys never get another
shot again.

Yeah, that's what I always think about that too, because
everyone sort of like, yeah, who cares about the preseason?

For some of those guys, like that running back, that
was his shot man, and he actually got on the
field against NFL players, against great NFL players, And that's
really at whatever age you are your last cup of
coffee playing the sport that you've been playing for years
and years.

The cheerleaders, for some strange reason, you pay a little
bit more attention to the cheerleaders too, man, Like I
don't recall, like I don't really recall like seeing our
cheerleaders all like that when I was in college, But
for some strange reason, they were so much more noticeable
in the league. And I recall noticing the cheerleaders too,

and like pregame warm up. I don't know why, but
they were definitely more noticeable. They commanded more attention, I guess,
I'll say, I don't know, even the first few rows
of the bleachers. I recall scanning them too, and it
was just yeah, I gets like, wow, I'm a pro now.

I believe I was with another rookie when we came
to the conclusion that we're pros. Now, like, let's let's
play like pros. We're in the pro ranks now.

I can't I can't recall all that, but you know.

Yeah, I do recall having a moment like and that
was in Washington, like we were at home and and
and some a couple of what it was was now.
I remember they were hitting on the h the padded

I just think that my eyes was open, and I
was a rookie and this was something that was very
new to a Pittsburgh kid that hasn't seen much like Let's.

he's probably had to navigate.

are expecting you to be a guy that will play,

the starter uh in Pittsburgh for a time. It it
just hasn't worked out for him, and for whatever the
reason may be, it's it's probably safer to say that
he is a career back up to journeymen to in

it being done where he's at at this point, and
and I don't know, I think it's I think it's
pretty safe to say that at this point. So Kenny
Pikett is not to me fighting for a starting job tonight.
He's obviously battling for the backup position and that's what

what it'll be for him probably at most unless an
injury takes place.

the next, and obviously there's a lot of things going
on in between. So it was nice to be like,

we're down by a couple of scores and this is
the deal.

It was cool, And because I was a rookie, obviously
a lot of the guys I was playing with at
that time were guys who were.

back then, you know, as rookie, you got there early.
You were with those guys all the time. I mean,
you went through everything, even outside of like your install,
you were like hanging out together, you know, meals together,

of the guys that threw the most passes to you know,
whereas once you got in with like the ones, those
were only guys you mixed in every once in a while,
so you didn't have as great a chemistry as you
did with the guys that you actually came in with
as a rookie class.

I mean, there's nothing like it, you know, there's nothing
like like living out that dream of putting on the
helmet and everything else. The hard thing is once preseason's
over with a lot of those guys never get another
shot again.

everyone sort of like, yeah, who cares about the preseason?

For some of those guys, like that running back, that
was his shot man, and he actually got on the
field against NFL players, against great NFL players, And that's
really at whatever age you are your last cup of
coffee playing the sport that you've been playing for years

The cheerleaders, for some strange reason, you pay a little
bit more attention to the cheerleaders too, man, Like I
don't recall, like I don't really recall like seeing our
cheerleaders all like that when I was in college, But
for some strange reason, they were so much more noticeable

and like pregame warm up. I don't know why, but
they were definitely more noticeable. They commanded more attention, I guess,

If you're like me and your anti load management, I'm
tired of these I'm tired of these morons using load
management to not race in the next race because they

Sunday or Garner more attention to it too. Saturday sometimes
gets lost and you know, everything else going on in
your livelihood. But the person who can speak on this
the best, it's probably LeVar because very similar to those
horses when they win orhere they're competing in between those races.
