Speaker 2 (00:30):
Now let's get this party started.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
You feel that in your football heart, your fan heart. F-U-T.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
That kind of football. Who's playing this? The Niners are
playing this on their boom box?
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Oh, yeah. You don't even relate to it.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
No.
Speaker 4 (00:59):
You want to know why? Because my ears work.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Because you've never been in a situation where a song
like this would be relevant to you, bro.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
What? You don't know what this is from?
Speaker 3 (01:12):
What?
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Can I guess? Is this Lone Survivor?
Speaker 5 (01:16):
Take a guess.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
Not Lone Survivor? Brokeback Mountain?
Speaker 5 (01:27):
Dang.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
You know how to ruin everything, huh?
Speaker 4 (01:30):
Just asking a question. You said take a guess. What's
for all the guess?
Speaker 5 (01:43):
Is this from Gladiator?
Speaker 2 (01:45):
No. I can't believe you would miss it.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
The Crying Game?
Speaker 5 (01:48):
What's it from? Is it Friday Night Lights? Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (01:52):
I thought that at first, but then you made it
sound like it was going a little further than that.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
No. It's Friday Night Lights.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
It's football.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
We said it's football specific.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
I know.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
I went straight deep to the heart of one of
the most imagery moments, one of the most Like, you know,
this is the defining moment of the.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Struggle of the movie. It's Friday Night Lights. They're playing.
Who were they playing? Who was Permian playing? Dallas.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Ah, man, who were they playing? Why am I blanking
on the team? Jesse Armstead played for the team. Oh, really?
Speaker 2 (02:33):
They ended up winning. No, this was high school, bro.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Oh. They made a documentary about that team, too. What
was the name of the team?
Speaker 2 (02:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Anyway, I'm going to look it up, but it's like Dallas.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
I can't. I'm going to get it. Anyway, yeah, Friday
Night Lights, by the way.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
They're going to make a documentary about us someday.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
You know that?
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Why?
Speaker 6 (02:59):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
What's that going to be about, Jonas?
Speaker 4 (03:02):
I don't know. Who knows?
Speaker 1 (03:04):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (03:05):
At this rate, who knows? Just threw something against the
wall there. I thought maybe that'd work.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
I mean, if they're making documentaries about Jesse Armstead's high
school team, I mean, I guess anything's up for grabs.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
No, they were really good.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
They played them in the championship round, and they lost.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Jesse Armstead's team won. That's unfortunate. Yeah, I forget.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
By the way, it's time to make the budget work
for you with pricing bill for pros. Maximize savings on
the products you purchase the most and save more when
you buy items and bulk prices that work as hard
as you do. Brought to you by the Home Depot.
It is two pros and a cup of Joe here
on Fox Sports Radio. LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox
are the air. NFL season kicks off later on tonight.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Dallas Carter.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
They call it. There you go.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Dallas Carter. It's like you didn't read the book. I
read the book when I was, no?
Speaker 2 (04:05):
No, no, no. I read it when I was in
high school.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
See that shoe?
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Oh, dang. Said Adidas. Yeah, no, I'm good.
Speaker 5 (04:15):
I thought you were going to chime in there, my bad.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Yeah, says Adidas. I mean, you know.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
It was the same feel. I thought you were going
to jump on that quick.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
I was having a serious moment here, man. Friday Night
Lights was a good read. Boobie Mouse is not doing
well in life right now either, man. He's not doing
well at all. The running back, you know, that everybody
talked about, Boobie. The great Boobie let Boobie spin. Yeah,
I think he's locked up, in fact.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Is he?
Speaker 2 (04:43):
I think so.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
He's got plenty of time to read his own book.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Well, it's not his book, but he was definitely a star.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
I think Edge, Edgar and James, and the whole situation
with his son.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
What do you mean?
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Oh, yeah. What is that?
Speaker 5 (04:59):
You didn't see that?
Speaker 4 (04:59):
No.
Speaker 5 (04:59):
The post by Son Jizzle?
Speaker 3 (05:01):
No. Bad.
Speaker 5 (05:03):
Jizzle James. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yeah. Jizzle.
Speaker 5 (05:07):
It was basically just kind of, you know, give him
some tough dad love. Saying don't, you know, don't help
him out. Don't give him what he's asking for. Just
give him a hug. Give him some love. That's it.
He'll get through it.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
That's how it works, man. That's what I said. You know. Hey, Riverside.
Even with kids. Your own kids. Hey, man.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
You give them the tools that they need for their toolbox,
and they'll pick up the toolbox and open it up.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
And use it. You know, Riverside.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
That's why you should have more than one kid. One
lets you down. You got to depend on another one.
Sometimes it might be two or three that let you down.
You got to have more.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
What's your completion percentage on decent kids?
Speaker 2 (05:52):
You only need one.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
You only need one to be able to validate that
you were a good parent. You know what I mean?
The rest of them, you just say they were mistakes.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
Yeah, but this one worked out.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
But this one, look, this is what happens when they
take your teaching.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
Now, that being said.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
My 11-year-old told me good for you yesterday. She had
a bad practice. I said, how was practice?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Bad. Well, why?
Speaker 1 (06:19):
I just didn't do well. And I was like, well, listen,
you got to work hard. And I can remember when
I was, you know, eight, nine years old and I
was playing.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Good for you, dad.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Oh, that's what I got.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
She didn't get away. I stopped.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Damn.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
I said, you will not get my story. I felt
like I was on two pros and a cup of Joe.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Oh, no.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
She ain't let me get to my point. And it
was going to be a good point, you know? I
was going to tell her, have fun, you know? Just
have fun.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
You're too young to take it too seriously. Just have
fun doing what you're doing.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
My son told me the other day, he was sitting
on the couch downstairs, and I said, hey, what do
you want to do? Do you want to go do baseball?
Do you want to do basketball? Do you want to
go play soccer? He goes, hey, I got a game.
I was like, what's that? He goes, let's play a
game where you stop talking.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Tank!
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Dang, dang.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
And my wife started dying laughing.
Speaker 6 (07:19):
You said, son, I've got a show that's going to
be four hours this Saturday.
Speaker 5 (07:23):
I was like, all right.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
You've got four hours this Saturday? That's what I do.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
How?
Speaker 4 (07:29):
What do you mean?
Speaker 2 (07:30):
What show are you doing?
Speaker 4 (07:30):
Took over for Up On Game.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Four hours of the JKS.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Are you doing Up On Game?
Speaker 4 (07:35):
Took over four hours.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Dang. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
Some have said highest rated up on game in the
history of the show this past Saturday.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
I think Jonas actually said that.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
Yeah. According to my sources, who are me.
Speaker 5 (07:48):
No one else said that, but Jonas did.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
I'm glad you get an opportunity to feel what it's
like to have a listening audience on Saturday.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
Wait, people hear this show?
Speaker 1 (08:01):
They tune right on out. I tell them, like, stay in. Like,
Jonas is coming up next, but... I immediately get a
whole bunch of texts like, man, that was a great
show today. What are you doing?
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Ah, man, just popping out, man. Going to go out,
you know, fish. Go make some food. Get some food.
You're not staying on?
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Nah.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Show's over. All right, man.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
It's all good. Hey, you know, listen, man. We got
like 10, 11 responses on X yesterday. I thought this
was the funniest junk ever. And not one of them
showed up on my feed.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
Why do you think that is?
Speaker 2 (08:33):
I don't know. ass fan that you have.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
But they they keep asking why did lavar block me
i don't know there's there's one there's one that keeps
creating and you have got to be the weirdest weirdo of.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Them all he keeps creating new emails to create new
accounts because once you block them they block all the
emails that are connected to you This D-bag is creating
new emails to be able to create new accounts to
try to harass me.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
People got time.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
I said, for all the time that you take to
try to do all that, it takes me literally one
second to block your ass. It's going to at least
take you three to five minutes to create that whole
new account by creating a new email. It took me
less than 10 seconds to block you.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
It's like a snail crawled all that way on the
sidewalk just to get stepped on by the gardener.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Ran over.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
Guys, I made it.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
No, you didn't. There you go. Out of there. That's
too bad.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Crunchy shell and everything. All them comments. Ain't none of them.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Ain't none of them show up on my feed. Golly.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
People got time, man. They you know, that's the way
this goes.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
People are weird, man.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Like like there's been a lot of there have been
a lot of debates going on about, you know, Matt.
Campbell and and it's like it's it's like almost like
there's this idea that you got to put down James
Franklin to build up coach Campbell and I think that
that's inappropriate I think it's lame and there's some people
that represent our community that they should be more responsible
(10:17):
over their handling of what they say better than what
they are like you sitting there talking about we didn't
we don't you see matt campbell he was humble he
didn't come out running with the the players and and
this that and the other he just came out and
he was about his business and da da da this
is not like you're taking shots at james but but
hold on but joe paterno let the team out every
(10:41):
single weekend and ran out some of the greatest coaches
in the history.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Didn't Lou Holtz run out with the team, run out
in front of the team?
Speaker 5 (10:49):
Also ran out with the team.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
There's something to be said about the leader, the general
going in. It's like representation of the general going into
the battle with your soldiers.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
Was James Franklin ever totally embraced?
Speaker 1 (11:04):
They did not like him. People did not like him, man.
They did not like him. And I always tell people
that man got that job for what it's worth because
of the state of the program. If the state of
the program was solid and this, that, and the other,
it would have been Urban Meyer or somebody else that
got that job. James Franklin would have never gotten that job.
(11:26):
He got the job under extraordinary circumstances and did an
extraordinary job of taking a program that was basically on
the blink of and getting it back on track i
don't understand why people have such hard feelings towards him
he didn't quit by the way everybody he didn't quit
he got fired they fired him so i don't understand
(11:48):
why y'all trying to villainize the man don't villainize coach
franklin the good dude like are there some things you
might not like about him sure sure now you could
say that about anybody But don't villainize one to build
up the other. Matt Campbell had a great showing, a
great debut as the head coach of our team.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
No doubt about it.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
You don't have to put down James Franklin to build
up Matt Campbell. Like, that's all. I don't even know
where that came from based off of something you said.
Got to get it off your chest.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
I mean, I saw that this morning.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
It was like from a dude on our board of
trustees that was on an interview and he said it.
And I thought it was just super inappropriate. And I
saw it on another interview, too. A guy was giving
his rundown of the team. And basically, like the start
of this era, it shows by the way that Coach
Campbell is. He didn't even run out with the team. Like, bro,
don't base it on a guy running out with the team.
(12:43):
Don't base it on that. Use something different.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
That's all.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
I mean, it could be worse.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
What could it be?
Speaker 4 (12:49):
It could be Western Michigan right about now.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Man. nine-tenths of a second away. Is there a possibility?
Somebody made the point yesterday, and you guys tell me.
If it was point something of a second that was left,
then why are you not able to put that on
the clock?
Speaker 2 (13:10):
You come back and you put.
Speaker 5 (13:12):
Jonas told you. The stadiums and clocks are two.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
But then you can't. Then you can't. And the statement,
didn't you send the statement, Q? Like, Isn't the Mac right?
Don't you have to use a certain clock to look
at what the correct time on the clock was?
Speaker 6 (13:31):
Well, basically what Mike Pereira came out and said, and
that now I think that's part of the reason why
the Mac has changed course, is that most likely the
Mac coaches, not just Lance Taylor, probably stood up for
him and their conference saying, hold on a second, so
you're telling me If this happens to any one of us,
(13:51):
you guys aren't going to go to bat for us
when we now hear that the protocol that the officials
followed wasn't correct in that game. And just to remind people,
the protocol is if there is a discrepancy between the clocks,
meaning the game clock, which is what also the TV
broadcast shows, so NBC in this case, if there's a
(14:14):
discrepancy between the game clock and the stadium clock and
this Hawkeye system, which is what is used behind the scenes,
in this case by the Big Ten, the protocol is
that the officials are supposed to go with the.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
One that everyone sees.
Speaker 6 (14:31):
And that would have been the game clock on NBC
and the game clock in the stadium.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Which means the game was over. Which would have meant
the game was over. Right.
Speaker 5 (14:39):
That Western Michigan would have won 12-7.
Speaker 6 (14:43):
So the Mac has come out and made a statement,
because I believe the president of Western Michigan and Lance Taylor,
their head coach, they spoke about it afterwards and kind
of said it is what it is. But after more thought,
and I'm telling you, it's because of, obviously, Mike Pereira
coming out on the real JKS and talking to Joel Clout.
Speaker 5 (15:01):
Hey, you know what? Yep, take that.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
F you, man. You're supposed to be a decent friend.
Not even a good friend, just a decent friend.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Thanks.
Speaker 6 (15:09):
And after Mike drew this to everyone's attention, it now
became an issue where I think the rest of the
coaches in the conference, the Mac said, hold on, like,
like this isn't right.
Speaker 5 (15:19):
How do we fix this?
Speaker 6 (15:21):
The problem is once they, I guess, appealed or tried
to take this issue to the NC, the NCAA oversight board,
they're like, look.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
We've got no protocol for this.
Speaker 6 (15:32):
Like we don't give back a win or we don't,
we can't change the outcome that based on this.
Speaker 5 (15:38):
So it's, it's done.
Speaker 6 (15:39):
We're washing our hands of this and we're moving on
to week two of college football. So that's where we're at.
And it's unfortunate for Western Michigan. I know it's, and look,
it's fortunate for Michigan. Like what if Michigan ends up
with their schedule being a 10 and two team, they
don't make the big 10 championship, but they end up,
(16:00):
you know, being considered for a playoff team.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
Like you're going to look back and.
Speaker 6 (16:04):
Say, well, Should they really get in? Aren't they really
a 9-3 football team? Are we going to forget about
Week 1? And I only bring this up because you
essentially had this with Alabama last year. Everyone seems to
forget that they lost to a bad FSU team to
begin the season last year. And because they made the
SEC Championship game, they still made it in.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
So.
Speaker 6 (16:27):
This stuff gets washed away and forgotten about. Come to
the end of the season, we have to make this
sort of decision. Now, I think after watching that, we'll
see what Michigan looks like this week, but they're not
ranked in the AP poll now, and they most likely
are going to struggle against Oklahoma.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
Again, maybe they're holding some stuff back. Maybe they will
have a much better performance at home versus Oklahoma compared
to last year.
Speaker 6 (16:51):
But if I am Brent Venables and I look at
what I saw week one, from that offense and Bryce
Underwood in particular, and I go back to last year's
game and I watch that, I don't see a player
that's evolved in particular in the passing game. And if
that's the case, Brent Venables will have a field day
with him and John Mateer in this offense is going
(17:13):
to put up points because that dude can tote the
rock and he can sling it. No disrespect to Lowry,
the quarterback of Western Michigan, two completely different players because
Mateer could do both at a very high level.
Speaker 5 (17:25):
And Oklahoma, I think the Lions, is it a five now, six,
somewhere in there?
Speaker 1 (17:31):
They are definitely rooting against them.
Speaker 6 (17:36):
They will lay a beat down on them if Michigan
can't figure things out offensively.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Yeah, five and a half. They did not look good
at all.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Or Western Michigan just looked that good. And look, it's
such a great word. It's such a great word. Oh,
it's such a great word. It's way better than the, the, the,
when you add that E to it like that, it
just makes it so real.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
It's such a real word. When you, it's so funny.
All right.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
He just threw it out so easily, too.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
That's how they play.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
Tell me they didn't look dooky.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
That's how they look. They did.
Speaker 5 (18:20):
They did.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
What a bad look for the MAAC. Conference should be
celebrated more.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
Why is it a bad look for them?
Speaker 4 (18:29):
It just seemed like they came out way too late.
They should have been more aggressive. It was almost as
if they just sort of took it. and said, all right, listen,
I guess there's nothing we could do. And then after
getting all the blowback and people got.
Speaker 5 (18:42):
A hold of him.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
They saw all the support that he was getting.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
They said, okay, well, yeah, yeah, we oppose this. Somebody
do something about it. So where were you? This took
place Saturday. Like, why didn't you come out right away? Instead,
they were more complimentary.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
Well, it was a holiday weekend.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
It was a holiday weekend.
Speaker 6 (18:57):
They took their Labor Day, and they had their cookout,
and they enjoyed their day off, and they came back.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
We'll get back to it on Tuesday.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
Back to work, everybody.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Could have been one of the biggest wins in the
history of our conference, but we'll get to it on Tuesday.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
Wait a second.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
By the way, what if you are on our side?
What if you add Western Michigan on the money line?
And you're thinking, oh, my God.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Oh, wow.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
I think there are 27 point underdogs, something like that.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Imagine when you thought you won when the clock struck zero. Oh,
my God.
Speaker 5 (19:29):
You're jumping.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
And what does that mean for betters?
Speaker 6 (19:31):
Like, how do you know how Jonas is going to
hate this? I wonder if any of the books just
go ahead and gave them the win.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Oh, I can't stand that. I can't say that. Jonas
hates it.
Speaker 5 (19:41):
He hates when books pay out.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Because you're just bailing somebody out.
Speaker 5 (19:44):
You're skipping the money. You hate when they give anyone
else money.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
I don't like it because you're just bailing people out
for first when you make a bet.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
Come on Jonas this is like a justifiable thing it's.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Not they were a 16 to 1 to 20 to
1 underdog according to what I'm seeing here in certain
places and If your sports book gave you back money
and you had Western Michigan on the money line and
you took the money that they gave you back, you
ought to be ashamed of yourself. That's gambling. You put
(20:19):
your fate into somebody else's hands and And may the
best better win. And sometimes weird stuff happens. Injuries occur.
There's bad. You don't just start handing back money to
people because, hey, we feel bad for you. Please, can
we get your business back? They are a degenerate gambler.
They're not going anywhere. They'll be back on the bike
(20:41):
to ride another race the next week and the week
after that. That's how this works. Tired of it. Why
do you do this? You just want to egg me on,
get me worked up here.
Speaker 6 (20:52):
Because I feel like this is actually the one time
where you should be a nice guy and say, you
know what?
Speaker 5 (20:57):
They kind of got screwed.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
I'm not. Do you know how many times I've been
screwed over on a bet?
Speaker 5 (21:01):
And I never thought to myself, can I get money back?
That's why you should be able to relate.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
No.
Speaker 5 (21:04):
That's why you should be able to relate.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
No.
Speaker 6 (21:07):
And don't lie. You've gotten money back on a bet before.
We've talked about this.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
But that was a, I think that was like a
clerical error. There was an issue to where they.
Speaker 5 (21:15):
No, I don't think so.
Speaker 6 (21:16):
Yeah, it was a– You had the opportunity to get
a bet back.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
We've talked about this before.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
No.
Speaker 5 (21:22):
It's been a little while.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
No, but I just– I look at it as when
I'm putting my money down, I'm– I turn it over
to the gambling gods and I say, do with this
what you will.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
All right.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
There's my contribution to the donation basket. All right. Do
with this what you will. And if I had Western
Michigan on the money line and I got the shaft
because I found an extra second, here's what it is.
Speaker 6 (21:47):
Let's put a cap on the conversation. How do you
view Michigan, then? Did they win the game or lose
the game? Like, if it comes down to that at
the end of the season, and this is a team
that is a 10-2 football team, and they're trying to
go to the playoff, how.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
Do you view them?
Speaker 4 (22:01):
That's one of the worst losses of the weekend, and
they won. That's how I view it. Because everybody knows.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
That doesn't answer the question, though.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
That's a loss.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
So you would hold them out at 10-2?
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Yes. Okay.
Speaker 5 (22:15):
So you'd view them as a 9-3 team?
Speaker 3 (22:17):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
LeVar, how do you view them?
Speaker 2 (22:24):
At least eight wins.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
What?
Speaker 2 (22:27):
I give them at least... What?
Speaker 5 (22:30):
I'm saying there are ten and two at the end
of the season.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
And.
Speaker 6 (22:34):
they're potentially a bubble team for going to the playoff.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (22:38):
Do you view them as 10-2, or do you view
them really as 9-3? Oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah,
I don't– I mean, I have to view them.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
As the record that they have, but I definitely would
say that's one of– if you've got to give asterisks to–
to accomplishments, you definitely have to put an asterisk on
their record.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
It doesn't a lot of this, though.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Like, imagine if they went on to win it all.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
But doesn't a lot of this.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
How crazy would that be?
Speaker 4 (23:03):
Doesn't a lot of this, though, depend on how good
Western Michigan turns out to be? And I don't know
that there's enough... games on the schedule just looking at
it to where you could go hey they beat so
and so that actually you.
Speaker 6 (23:16):
Know but if they win the Mac I mean the
Mac is one of the more underrated group of six
conferences I would actually put the Mac up against any
group of six conference.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
And they are favored to win the Mac still even
yeah you know so obviously 10 games last year yeah
so Lance Taylor's a hell of a coach like he's
one of those guys that you would think that would
get some looks by bigger schools at some point based
on what he's built and done there but I don't know.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
I'm just a guy over 40.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
It's an asterisk. It's an asterisk deal. And go ahead.
Try to keep your energy up. How do you do that?
Speaker 5 (23:47):
I'm trying to. How do you do it?
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Right now.
Speaker 5 (23:50):
I know how you're keeping your energy up. It's M drive.
That's how, baby. If you're having a hard time keeping
that weight off, get your testosterone up.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Get it up.
Speaker 5 (23:59):
And your energy, you got to keep it the same.
You can't allow it to change.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Get that testosterone up.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
Harden.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
Get it up.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
Get strong.
Speaker 5 (24:06):
Get it jacked up.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Get it jacked up.
Speaker 5 (24:09):
You go to mdriveformen.com right now. Right now.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
All right.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
So Davos Swinney, who did not have a great weekend.
He was the team that LSU annihilated on Saturday. He
was talking with the media yesterday. Chapel Fowler, who's a
beat writer for the state newspaper. They're in South Carolina
and covers Clemson. Asked Davo Swinney a question, and it
(26:21):
didn't go over all that well.
Speaker 6 (26:22):
Do you regret anything about your off-season roster construction right now?
Speaker 5 (26:27):
Chapel, you come with all these questions. I tell you,
you're the gotcha guy.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
No, I don't. I don't, man.
Speaker 7 (26:34):
I regret being 0-1-1 right now. I regret that. Can
you ask me that at the end of the season?
You know, the season isn't over. I mean, we've got
one game. We've got 11 more. What if we go 11-1?
You promise me you'll ask me that then?
Speaker 5 (26:50):
Okay, good. I'll answer it. All right?
Speaker 7 (26:52):
But I'm not answering questions like that, you know, Chapel.
I know that's your role and that's in this environment,
you know, to be the guy that wants to create
all the controversy and ask the controversial questions.
Speaker 5 (27:04):
If that's who you are, that's fine. I get it.
We played one game. Did you play football?
Speaker 7 (27:11):
Okay, well, they give you 12 games, and at the
end of the year, you count them up. That's when
those type of questions are fair to me, not after
one game, to maybe the best team in the country.
Other people have good teams and coaches and things like that, too.
So I give them credit. We've got 11 more games
to go battle, and we'll count them up. Then you
(27:34):
can ask me whatever question you want.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
So that was Dabo Swinney. Responding to the question, which
I would say, look, fair response from Dabo Swinney.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
It was a fair response.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
Also, fair question considering how awful Clemson looked in that game.
So I think both are fair.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
Here's the thing. I get where Dabo's at.
Speaker 6 (27:57):
He's one of two coaches in college football who won
two national championships. That's an active head coach. Him and
Kirby Smart. And if you look at what he's done
at Clemson. Like he has taken this program and it's
arguably been the best era they've ever had. Now of late,
they've struggled and they haven't been able to adapt to
(28:18):
the NIL, the transfer portal era. So I think there's
a sense of frustration because oftentimes what happens is, and
I think this is the case with, former players, coaches
is you don't, when you feel like you're not being
appreciated for what you've accomplished and you feel like you
should get the benefit of the doubt when adversity hits.
Speaker 5 (28:37):
And that's where we're at.
Speaker 6 (28:39):
You know, he is obviously not achieving to the level
that maybe some people believe that he's being compensated for
or the fact that he's been there this long, but
they're not able to get back to the level that
he brought this program to. And so people are starting
to be more critical. And I think in his mind,
he's like, hold on a second. Like, do you remember
what this program was without me? Do you remember how
(29:01):
we were, how things used to be? I'm the one
who helped build this and get us here, and now
you're not giving me any grace. So I can understand
his frustration from that standpoint. The problem is the manner
in which he's now addressing it. It feels like he's
almost on edge. Can you go play the very beginning
of what he said?
Speaker 2 (29:20):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (29:22):
Just the very beginning.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Do you regret.
Speaker 6 (29:24):
Anything about your off-season roster construction right now?
Speaker 5 (29:29):
Chapel, you come with all these questions. I tell you,
you're the gotcha guy. All right, stop right there. Stop
right there.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
He was a beat or two off of being like,
I'm not going to freak out like everyone thinks I'm
going to. It really felt like he was close to
freaking out in that moment. I call it a gotcha guy.
It got a little edgy. And I think part of
that comes with the fact that he feels disrespected. for
what he's built, what he's created, if you will, at Clemson.
(29:58):
And then now that they're going through these rougher times,
he's not getting the same grace that, I don't know,
maybe you'd say other coaches are, or maybe you'd say
other programs tend to give their coach based on their history,
based on what those coaches have accomplished there. So I
get that. The problem is it is a fair question,
as you guys pointed out. He doesn't have to play the, hey,
(30:18):
did you play the game card?
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Oh, that's where I'm going.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
That's exactly where I'm going.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
Go ahead.
Speaker 6 (30:25):
But that's what bothered me the most about it. I
think it bothers everyone about it is once you go
down that road, it's like, all right, man, now you're
making it like a you as a former player or
as a coach versus them. And it doesn't need to
be that. You don't need to do that.
Speaker 5 (30:39):
We all get the spot you're in. It's a fair question.
All you need to say to them is, you know what?
Speaker 6 (30:44):
We've got 11 more games. Let's talk about that at
the end of the season. You don't need to say
anything more than that. But you can tell his emotions
now are starting to get the best of him.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
That's the meat on the bone that I want to
continue to chew on off of your point is the
minute you go down the lane of have you played
this game before? And you would have to assume Dabo
asked that question having already known what the answer would
have to be. You are now trying to outwit. You
(31:16):
are now trying to outwardly discredit in a way because
you felt disrespected you threw something out there that you
felt was uh for sure locked to be a dis
and disrespectful to you you're now on the radar you're
(31:37):
on the radar and you've already been on the radar
but you're saying you're Right now, it's a lack of grace.
I'm saying once you go down the lane of saying,
have you played this game.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Before to the media who are.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
The ones who, in a lot of ways, still dictate
us that are in the media when you attack us
in the media about being former players or not. We
don't have to play that. We don't have to play
that because we could ask you the same question. Have
you ever been a journalist? Have you ever been an analyst?
(32:13):
Have you ever been a reporter? Have you ever had
to do beat reporting? Have you ever had to endure
covering and trying to write stories day in and day
out about how you're failing? Have you ever had to
do that? Have you ever tried to make something look
or sound better than what it truly is? Have you
ever had to do that? Once you take the media
(32:36):
down that lane, it's not even about grace anymore. Now
it's about we are the gloves are off. The gloves
are off. You thought we were on you heavy before now.
Now you're going to experience what being on you heavy
really feels like after that. Because when you pull something
(32:58):
like that out and you throw that at one of
the members of the media, you've not only offended him,
you've offended most likely most of the people that are
in that room. Because basically what you just used as
a point to try to discredit what my question was,
you're trying to basically discredit mostly everybody that's in this
room that's doing coverage of you.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
And your team.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
So... regardless of how you felt you introduced it, regardless
of how you felt about going down that piece of it,
that tells me you're standing at the end of the plank.
Some people complain, beg for their lives. Please don't make
me jump.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Please. I don't want to jump. I don't want to,
I want to live.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Right.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
And then you get those other people that spit and say,
you know, forget about it. I'm going to die anyway.
And you say something that like, it's like, Oh, that's
your last words. Right. To me, that's Adabo Sweeney's last
words for him to allow himself for as stand-up a
guy as he's been, as great, not as good or solid,
(34:04):
as great of a coach as he's been. That's so
far beneath you and what you've accomplished in your career
to go down that lane.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
You're too well-seasoned.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
You've been doing this too long to allow yourself to
have a slip-up moment like that and give all the
necessary needed ammunition to know you're at the end of
your rope. You're at the end of the plank. You
are in the chair, and there ain't no going back.
This is a Dabo Sweeney is going to lose his
(34:38):
job as the Clemson head coach.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
It's not a matter of if. It's a matter of when.
I was in South Carolina when he first got there.
And when he took over for Tommy Bowden, like there
was a lot of people that were, you know, that
love Tommy Bowden and they love the last name and
all that. And he gets there and the big test
for him was, could you compete in state with Steve Spurrier?
(35:01):
And that's when Spurrier and South Carolina went on their run.
And then slowly he just kept at it and kept
at it and they got better and better. And there
was a time we talked about it yesterday where he,
They had talent upon talent, whether it was quarterback, wide receiver,
especially like they were loaded at wide receiver for years
and years. And he went on that run. It feels
(35:21):
like this is the final stage. Like you've seen the
crescendo of the national titles in that four and five years,
you know, appearances in national titles. And this is the
end of somebody who I think realizes when I hear
him talk now, I think he realizes I can't compete
in today's college football. Like, I can't do it. And Saban,
(35:43):
as we talked about yesterday, got out. And I think
Davos Swinney realizes and probably recognizes internally, it just, it's
not happening here. I don't either have the financial support
that I need, like some schools do. And it's just,
it's the end. It feels like we're winding down.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Or he doesn't have the horsepower to get it done.
And if he wants to have the horsepower to get
it done, you got to go into different frontiers.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Like the final frontier, the Nissan- Frontier, the 2026 Nissan Frontier.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
That is. Yep, that is the vehicle, people, that respects
being a truck. If you want to get through your
work week and earn that weekend.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Then you're going to want to use a 2026 Nissan
Frontier to get there. It's built for the work week,
ready to load you up and your tailgate for the weekends.
That's the Nissan Frontier. 2026, get your wand.
Speaker 4 (36:35):
Hell yeah. Two pros and a cup of Joe, Fox
Sports Radio. Coming up next, it is a Wednesday, which
means the good, the bad, and the ugly are midweek awards,
and they're yours right here on FSR.

Two pros and a cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio.
LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. Coming
up top of next hour, a little over 10 minutes

Speaker 3 (37:36):
There are some good things that happen. And there's some bad.
And then there's some downright ugly things. It's time for Good, Bad,
and Ugly.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
Well, well, Sheriff Sweet. Who's got the duties this week? Well,
I want to.
Speaker 6 (38:01):
Tell you about what the good of the week is.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
College football and a little bit of NFL football coming
up tonight and moving on into.
I don't know. I was just messing with y'all's bit.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
That's definitely the college football opening weekend. It was definitely
better than advertised. And heading into this NFL season, I
think it sets the stage for a level of excitement
for the pros as well. So, yeah, that's the good
of the week is football is back, and it's not
(38:44):
just back. It didn't let you down when it made
its appearance. I was finished. I was, I was done.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
That was it.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
I think it'd be.
Speaker 6 (39:02):
The clock operations in the Michigan Western Michigan game and
just how that's all sorted itself out. I, I, I
feel bad for the Western Michigan players. The program, Lance Taylor,
that's one of those monumental wins to a MAAC program
or a smaller school that they remember forever. And so instead,
Michigan gets to skate by with the win. I understand
(39:24):
their fan base is not going to apologize for it.
They'll try to make every claim possible that everything was
on the up and up and everything was handled in
the correct manner.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
But it's bad.
Speaker 6 (39:34):
I mean, bottom line is, this is a group that
defended the Connor Stallion stuff and everything else that goes
along with it.
Speaker 5 (39:40):
So... Not sure what else to say.
Speaker 6 (39:42):
You can't expect a fan base that will not apologize
for any sort of cheating or what's gone on within
that program over the last four or five years.
Speaker 5 (39:52):
And that's just where we're at.
Speaker 6 (39:53):
So the bad is really Michigan, but we'll just say
the entire process of how that game ended.
Speaker 4 (40:05):
Yeah, there's a bucket of vomit that is currently sitting
in the middle of this giant room that we call
the world of sports.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
Oh, wow.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
And that bucket of vomit presented itself again last night.
It's called the Cubs bullpen.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
They are awful.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
They can't hold a lead. They've blown multiple leads. Jacob
Webb is not only given up. It's not like he's
given up wall scrapers. He's given up moon shots to
tie or lose games. It's terrible. It's disgusting what is happening.
That is my ugly for the week.
