Speaker 2 (00:27):
Give this you're listening to Fox Sports Radio. I think
you're gonna like next week's song. I'll leave it at that.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yeah, this was interesting, interesting choice.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
You got to mix it up sometimes.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
I mean, you know, when you're like you, you stay
in one lane and you never really get out of
that lane. So it's kind of boring and not true,
basic and just all the things that's not true.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
I've I've brought out the Narcos theme.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Buddy. You didn't even know who Neo was. You didn't
know even how to pronounce neoo. I mean, why would
why would you have known that?
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Though?
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Because I listened to a variety of music.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Yeah, but I mean why would you he?
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Actually I almost picked Neo one of Neo's songs for
one of my songs. Maybe it will at some.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Point, But why would you have known that I didn't
know who that was? How would you have known that?
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Why would I have known?
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Because you're so concerned about reads that I had to
check up to make sure that you knew how to
pronounce the names of those artists.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Oh so it had nothing to do with Raddy schweeka
behind the scene.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
It's actually it was Actually that is professionalism of our
producer Patti Sweet. When I asked him, I said, hey,
does Jonas need help with some of the reads today?
Being that LeVar is out and I know that Jonas
probably isn't aware of some of who some of those
artists are.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Okay, all right, well, and there.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Was feedback given that. Thanks for being a good team player.
Jonah says he's got it covered, even though he skipped
over Neo's.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Name on the First Street.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Interesting, all right, Yeah, I like ra sweeks, Raddy sweeks.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
I like when Jonas gets.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
It's it's not sensitive, it's just you know, apparently apparently
that's what's going on behind the scenes.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Oh yeah, that's what's going on.
Speaker 3 (02:06):

(02:28):
we welcome in a man who it's been way too long.
I don't know if do we have any Italian music
we can fire up real quick for the great John
Paul Morosi, who is joining us here live from Houston.
I've never seen somebody so thrilled. Obviously being a professional,
you know, not showing any favoritism, but John Paul Morosi,
(02:49):
who you see on the MLB network, you hear him
here on Fox Sports Radio, analyst insider if it's the NHL,
if it's the Olympics, but a true, true, proud member
of the family here and a proud fan of the
Italian culture. JPM, good morning to you. Shots of espresso
for everybody as you've been covering Team Italy and the
(03:13):
World Baseball Classic.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
Bon Gioro Gomevava. They're going to benvoy.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
With you.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (03:27):
When you think about the Italian national team, which at
this moment in time is four and zero having beaten
the United States, we talk about great music, either your
your celebratory song or your walk up song. When the
Italians win the game, which has happened now four times,
they play Gonde partierro by Andre bo Celli, and it
(03:49):
is a it is a very emotional moment. It is
just a beautiful way to end the baseball game. It's
We've heard a lot of a lot of great music.
It is right now a tie between that Songariro by
Mocelli and the fact that earlier on in this in
(04:11):
this tournament all schemes of course attended the US Air
Force Academy for two years. Took the mound to the
top gun theme that was a Goosebumb's moment too. We've
had a lot of great music, a lot of great
moments here in Houston, and there is more to come,
my friends, if.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
You could JP and obviously good to have you on.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Going to be talking with you again, just summarize the
excitement that the World Baseball Classic has created. It feels
like after the Olympics for hockey, there's that huge moment
for the US and maybe the momentum behind that and
how that's going to impact the youth and the NHL
moving forward. Is this one of those events that maybe
the baseball can capitalize off of as well?
Speaker 5 (04:55):
Yeah, Brady, it is a great point, and it absolutely is.
I was very honored my parents were able to fly
down from Michigan to watch some of the games here
in Houston, and and you know, they've been watching sports
their whole lives. They've seen a lot of great sporting
events and just to see their eyes light up at
(05:15):
what this atmosphere is like. And they were meeting fans
from Mexico that were sitting all around them during the
US Mexico game. But they had such a great experience
spending time with them, and that is the essence of
this tournament. There's social media now is lighting up with
great images of the Dominican and Venezuelan players embracing and
(05:37):
just enjoying competing against each other. That's what this is about.
Of course, everybody here wants to win, but it is
being part of it, and that is so much of
what the Olympic spirit is, of course, and we saw
that in the US being able to win both gold
medals and hockey, and the way that Alysslu won it
(05:57):
figure skating, and just it is. It is certainly that
the honor and the competing. Obviously everybody wants to win,
but it is being there and being part of it.
It is not possible, in my opinion, to watch World
Baseball Classic games, whether it's on TV or especially in
person and not have your heart moved by the players,
(06:18):
the fans, the spirit of those that love this tournament
and watch it. The crowds here in Houston have been unbelievable.
In Miami, of course, it is the same in San Juan,
Puerto Rico, with the Puerto Rican national team being able
to qualify for the next round. Extraordinary environment there. And
of course Japan. I say this, it's my wish that
(06:40):
all baseball fans have a chance to see baseball games
in Japan because it's a very moving and emotional experience.
So it's you're right, Brady, it's it's been great baseball.
But on top of just the great baseball, the great pitching,
the great hitting. It's been an almost spiritual experience of
sport that we've seen. And we're not done yet. We
(07:02):
got US Canada tonight, So put part three in the trilogy,
US Canada Women's Hoaki, US Canada Menzaki, and now we've
got US Canada Baseball. So the trilogy of the early
part at twenty twenty six ends tonight, and then of
course some amazing matchups the Italians against Puerto Rico tomorrow
as well.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
John Palumrosi joining us here on Fox Sports Radio, Fox
Sports Radio, MLB analyst and insider MLB Network. You can
see him as well too, live from Houston covering the
World Baseball Classics. So let me ask you this, because
I think everybody kind of feels the same. You watch it.
It's fun, people are fired up. It sort of, you know,
gets rid of any dividing line between rooting for teams.
(07:43):
You're rooting for your country, not so much your individual teams.
So that being said, why is it only every three years?
Why wouldn't they want to work this into the rotation more?
And has that been a discussion, Well, Jonahs, it's an
excellent question.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
I think, first and foremost it is. It's a big,
big undertaking to host it is. It is a lot
of work just on the capacity of the Commissioner's Office.
The MLBPA of course is involved in it too. There's
also and we've already seen it with the conversation about
Trek Skouble and his agonizing decision about going back to
(08:19):
the Tigers camp because he felt like he had to
make sure that he was there with his team. It's
it's a lot on the pitching. You have to get
ready earlier than you typically do. And so I'm with you, Hey,
I'd love it every year too, But I think that
that MLB feels like every three or four years is
about the right interval. Of course, we have the potential
(08:42):
of baseball being back in the Olympics in twenty eight.
The CBA expires after this year. There's a lot of
conversation about where the labor negotiations will go, so I
would love to see it more more routinely. This, I
think feels like the right the right interval. The one
thing I would say is that the next step to
(09:05):
make it even bigger than it is right now is
to play the finals in the middle of the season,
and whether you have an express version of this at
the All Star Break, or maybe you play the preliminary
rounds in March, that you play the quarter semifinals in
July and elongate the All Star Break. That I think
(09:26):
is the next step. The other thing you could see
and I would love to see this too, is a
routine showdown series between Team USA and the Dominican Republic
or Team USA and Team Japan, and that way there's
more consistent playing of this national team Jersey with the
(09:47):
other titans of global baseball. Certainly, the games at this
point have been amazing, but you can also just distill
it to a seven game series. Maybe you play three
games in la and then four in Tokyo. However you
want to do it. But you're the general point you're making.
Jonas is spot on, which is international baseball best done best,
just like international hockey best done best is magic, and
(10:11):
we got to capitalize on it and do it more often.
And to the NHL's point, they're gonna now do it
every every other year. You're going to have a major tournament,
either the Olympics or the World Cup of Hockey. It
was the Four Nations a year ago with the amazing
game in Montreal with the three fights in nine seconds
that we'll always talk about that that is, and I
(10:32):
was fortunate to be in the building for that too.
I'm pretty lucky as a fan those moments. The idea
there for hockey is every other year, so twenty six Olympics,
twenty eight World Cup. I think hockey is figuring it out.
Baseball hopefully it's getting there too. That best done best
is one of the best ways, as Brady said earlier,
(10:52):
to grow the game. And there are gonna be kids
that watch the Olympics. They're gonna be kids that are
watching this tournament right now who are saying I want
to play for Team USA. And it is getting easier
and easier now to recruit players to play because they
all see how much fun it is.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
I guess the only question I have in that regard
JP is you know, how much is too much?
Speaker 2 (11:14):
You know?
Speaker 1 (11:15):
I feel like one of the issues with baseball, one
of these us really that basketball is dealing with right now,
is because basketball doesn't have a signature event like this.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
I think they'd like it to be.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
The All Star Game doesn't really feel like it becomes that,
you know, they try to do that middle of the
season and what NBA Cup, what do they call it?
I mean, that's kind of falling flat on its face.
But with hockey and baseball, they've really got something here.
And I also I kind of feel like the scarcity
of it, though, is what makes it such a big deal.
I mean, if you start making it every year, does
(11:45):
that take away a little bit from like the luster
of it or the intensity of it because it's not
every year. You don't have that shot next year, you
got to wait another two years. Isn't that part of
the conversation.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
It is great, It's an excellent point, and that's why
I think problem two years as hockey is doing it,
or whether it's every third year for MLB, And we
don't know, I should be clear, we don't know when
the next WBC will be. That there will be another one,
and I think that everybody's realizing how important it is,
(12:16):
but we don't know exactly when. And I think to
your point, it will more than likely never be every
single year. I think every other year is from hockey standpoint,
it's probably the soonest that you would ever do it.
And obviously now we've got twenty six with the World
Baseball Classic, and we could have the twenty eight Olympics
(12:38):
with major league players. We don't know that for sure,
it's still being discussed, but the potential of major league
players in that Olympic tournament, I think is so enticing.
And Brady's sort of you know, the Olympic spirit so
well and through your family. It's just it's the it's
there's nothing like it. There's there is nothing like it.
(12:58):
I mean, this is the world baseball class to give
the extraordinary. I think that if you have major league
players in the in the Olympics and you're playing at
Dodger Stadium and it's Paul Skins against Otani and and
you're deciding the gold medal with with that matchup, which
(13:19):
you know, you could say it sounds a little improbable. Well,
we thought of that way until Otawani struck out Mike
Trout and it proved it that that the baseball guys
are keeping an eye on all this for us. And
it's been a lot of fun. So it really is.
It's been It's been great and to your point, it
could it could still even get greater. Uh, if we
(13:39):
have a chance to watch the gold medal game at
Dodger stadium and all these same stars are back there
with the Olympic rings. It's just it's been so much fun,
and I feel like every couple of years, let's let's
make sure we keep having this great meeting of the
of the best baseball players and best baseball fans in
the world.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
I love that idea.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
There's only one ish you have again with that JP
is is the eligibility requirements to be a part of
each country. I mean, what's happening with Italy. I'm looking
at the roster. These guys are born like half of
them are born in the Midwest.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Problem, we got guys from Florida and Calia.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
We're looking through what it qualifies to be and it
feels feels a little flimsy. You know. It's like, all right,
my my name ends in a vow and apparently I
can play for Italy.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
It feels like it's as simple as that.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
If it sounds Italian, why can't it be considered Italian?
Speaker 5 (14:27):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Just I'm just saying, like, what are we doing here
with these the whole eligibility for these various countries.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
It feels like it's like, all right, like maybe the
espresso thing.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
I get it, but like some of these guys are
born in the Midwest and like from Michigan, and yet
all of a sudden they're they're they're a part of
team Italy.
Speaker 5 (14:47):
Right, No, so here. So basically, Brandy, it's it's a
very fair question, and it absolutely has come up. I'll
give you the the the eligibility answer, the quick one,
which is that in the World Baseball Classic, unlike with
the Olympics and the WBC, you just have to prove
that either you have a parent born in that country,
(15:10):
which is why they're for example here with Canada tonight,
they'll be players who are American passport holders but had
parents born in Canada, they can play for Canada. So
that's that will be the case for some of the
players tonight. So that's that's one way of doing it,
if you have a parent born in that country, or
with with the Italian situation, if you can prove that
(15:32):
you're eligible for citizenship, not the same thing of having
the actual passport, but if you can prove that you're
eligible and and Brady, this is this is I say
this as an Italian American myself. The rules to be
an Italian citizen are a little more flexible than basically
every other country in Europe. It's not.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
My father in laws trying to do this for my
wife and his son, and it feels like outside of
some fall through on his port, it's a done deal.
Like if they want to be citizen in Italy, they
can have dual citizenship.
Speaker 5 (16:09):
Right, so Brady, you can. So you know, we're we've
been friends for a long time. When we're offline, you
want to give me a shout, I will I will
help you knock you through the process as an Italian
American myself on this to help you and your face basically, Brady,
at some point in time, uh you know, uh, if
Alicia gets to gets the passport and the kids all
(16:31):
get it, the only thing and my wife has gone
through this too, then you if you want to get
the Italian passport too, there's this one small little step,
which is you'd have to pass the Italian fluency test.
All right, that's a small step for you. You're a
brilliant man, Notre Dame graduate.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
You could do it.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
You would just have to take so you'd have to
just take the test. But but so for the Italian rules,
which admittedly and we don't have to go too far
deeply into it. They've gotten a little bit harder to
qualify for it. There's been some changes in the Italian
Parliament in the last six to ten months, so the
rules are changing. But Italian citizenship, if you have a
(17:13):
grandparent born in the US whose whose parent was still
an Italian citizen at the time they were born, they're eligible.
And so that's how you get Sam Antonacci from Springfield, Illinois.
That's how you get Dante Nori from Northville, Michigan playing
for the Italians. And so all of those, all of
those rules, that's all, that's all legit. And the other
(17:35):
thing I would say on this is, you know, I
have not looked into this, Brady, but I think that
there's you know, you're a busy man, but there might
be a calling out there for you. If the Irish
national baseball team needs a great general manager and leader,
I think Brady Quinn is the man to do it.
In the future World Baseball Classics.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
I'm with you on that sentiment, but this is for
a conversation, I'll flying, so we'll get that at some points.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
The details for some things up in the old family
tree there.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Yeah, yeah, all of a sudden, uh, you know, things changed.
I started to rethink, uh, you know, growing up and
how how we looked at Brady Quinn. But I would
say this, I've I've actually picked up food from Buca
to Bepo. Would that qualify me for potentially getting on
the roster for next WBC for the also.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Terrible bio It smells like garlic. I feel like that
could help the qualification.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
I mean, you know, we don't want to be judgmental.
I'm just trying to get a you know, get a
spot on the roster here.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
James, I will. So here's the thing we'd have to
we'd have to see Jonahs. I think that the biggest test. Now,
if you've noticed how the Italians are arriving to the
ballpark is is they're all arriving in Armani suits. Oh
so we I think the biggest test is Jonas, how
would you arrive on the arrival like the TV arrival shot?
(18:57):
How how how smoothly do you pull off the Armani look?
Speaker 3 (19:02):
You know, and you know it is funny about about
watching Italy games. So when they show the crowd, because
my wife is Mexican, so when Mexico was in it.
I mean they really showed out, especially in Houston there
and and they I mean it was Luca Libra masks
and cowboy hats and all that stuff. When the when
the Italians are breast all, yeah, everything you would want,
(19:23):
everything you look for in something like that. But when
the Italians are playing, when they show the fans and attendance,
I don't think anybody's wearing an Italian baseball jersey. It's
like all Fabio Cannavaro soccer jerseys. Everything is a soccer jersey.
I don't even know if they make baseball jerseys. So
there is a sort of momentum building towards supporting the team,
(19:44):
but I still feel like, you know, they're like, hey,
you know, when's the soccer break? A soccer game going
to break out here in the middle of a baseball fields.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
It's a fair question. First of all, I will say
that the Thesuri jersey, and of course that the Italians
the flag is white and red and green. But we
we wear these the beautiful we of the Italians. What
they have, these these blue and white, gorgeous jerseys. Because
the House of Savoy, the royal family that used to
(20:13):
the rural Italy centuries ago, so they've always worn blue,
including for the Italian soccer team. That's by tradition, So
I would recommend I do think as a souvenir, the
jerseys are are quite nice. The other thing is is
the big picture here, and this is this is sincere.
I say this as an Italian American. If you're if
(20:33):
you're going to represent a country, even if you didn't
grow up there, but you're doing it because of your family.
That's also really important. And there are a number of
players on Team Mexico who were born or raised in
the US but have Mexican parents, and for them it's
their way of honoring their heritage. And so it's not
exactly the same thing as the Olympics. You're right, For
(20:55):
the Olympics, you have to be a passport holder. You
have to be a passport holder. There are European Baseball
tournaments that that happen, you've got to be a passport
holder for those. But for this, the MLB and the MLBPA,
the way they've written the rules, they allow you to
represent your family. And I do think as someone who's
Italian American, my wife's Mexican American too, so I get
(21:18):
the full, the full experience of this group here where
you've seen all these fews play each other. It is
representing your family, and I do think that is a
noble part of it. And it's been in addition to
noble entertaining as all. Heck, as we're watching these games
play out and the cultures are coming together, so Italy
Puerto Rico tomorrow will be fascinating. Certainly, we've unfortunately lost
(21:41):
the Mexican presence from this tournament because there have been
so the fans there are just unbelievable, So it'll be
that the ballpark won't be the same without them. But
now up to the Americans and the Canadians to show
up tonight and then the Italians and Puerto Ricans here
in Houston tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Yeah, say, outside of Ice, I don't really see anything
standing in the way of the World Baseball Classic here
in the States.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
I think it's going to be a slamming success. I do.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
Do you want to ask you this, JP, Can you
get us some betting advice, help the listeners.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Out, help them win a little bit of money.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
How do you foresee the games going that you just
mentioned in particular, USA, Canada, I know USA is a
heavy favorite.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Is that what you're leading on this one?
Speaker 5 (22:22):
So it's it's a great question, Brady. I'm I'm terrible
at advice on this in this area of the world.
And by the way, to this point, talking about the
randomness of this tournament, the two pool winners that are
meeting here in Houston, those pools were won by Canada
and Italy, which is just how everybody had it drawn up.
(22:43):
Where you've got Puerto Rico and the US are the
number two seeds and the number one seeds are Canada
and Italy. Remarkable. I think Canada is I think Canada
has a better chance than a lot of people realize
that they've got a major league starter of my Soroka
on the mound. Their lineup I think hasn't even gotten
(23:04):
good yet. From the standpoint of the really big run
scoring that the offensive dynamics in Puerto Rico were somewhat
depressed because the wind was blown it every day. It
was a hard place to hit and they still were
able to get through and finish first. So what the
final score is tonight, I can't even guess, but I
do think that Canada's got a much better shot at
(23:27):
winning than you might expect. And I think the same
thing is true for Italy tomorrow. I mean Italy has
played exceptionally well, so I think tonight's game, yes, still
probably the US favored. You'd expect the US to win,
but I think Canada's got a legitimate shot. I think
tomorrow is a complete toss up between Italy and Puerto Rico.
Total toss up. I think Italy's got to And by
(23:48):
the way, the starting pitcher for Italy tomorrow Brady domul
al de Gerty from Verona. Oh yeah yeah, on the mounds,
Ammuel Aldegery.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
We got I think the coatural dynamics this team there
you go, go Partiro and Maosa, Opportunity Squadra Taliana. This
is their big moment tomorrow. Uh and uh las Squadra
(24:26):
talian I'm very.
Speaker 5 (24:27):
Very honored as to be here.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Unbelievable job Albaros. You talking about culture. You talking about
a man who can do it all. MLB Network. He'll
cover the NHL, the Olympics, He'll talk Michigan, Ohio state
as he is a proud member of the ann Arbor
family and he joins us here on Fox Sports Radio.
(24:52):
JP always appreciated enjoy the games hell of a job
here today.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (24:57):
I appreciate it. But also also the grandson. I'm a
very devoted Notre Dame fan, as I'm sure with Brady before.
So there's there's an Irish component there to my heart
as well. And there's the gold Brady, as I've been
telling my dad is the Michigan State grad, is it? Dad?
We got to get you to South Bend for Notre
Dame Michigan State in the fall. So I hope hopefully
we see you there all right.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
I would love to help you out with that if
you need any help.
Speaker 5 (25:20):
I got you covered, APPI thank you so much. Thank you.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
Get him on X at John Morosi. He is the
best John Paul Morosi with this year, uh and appropriate
Andrea Bocelli sending him out with time to say goodbye.
That's uh, that's real Italy there, you know. I I
shizam that song at a funeral because it was so good.
That's how good that song was. By the way, that's
(25:43):
a true story.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Not even you took out your phone at a funeral.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
Yeah, I had to. It was so good, Sam, Yeah,
it was so good. I was sitting in the back
of the church and my buddy's grandma just passed away,
and everybody's really emotional. I'm like this, and they're playing
this song as they're bringing the casket in, and I
was like, so, I just like kind of reached for
it real quick, almost like something bit me.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Sure I'm sure no one noticed, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
Like something bit me. And then I just kind of,
you know, pulled the phone, you know, hitched his am
got the song and I bought it afterwards. So you
have problems, man, Hey, got respect is what I got.

So you kind of spoiled this segment earlier because you
couldn't resist the Trinidad Chambliss bait that was presented to
(28:31):
you in his fight for eligibility. Moving forward, Sorry, I.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Was busy listening to a voice note from some slappy.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
So so basically, I think I've come up with a
solution for somebody in football, OK, and I want to
hear your thoughts on this.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
All right.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
We open up the show talking about Kyler Murray signing
with the Minnesota Vikings, and the question then becomes, all right,
if he's going to be the starter, which I think
everybody presumes he's going to be the starter there, what
do you do if you're JJ McCarthy, Because it's not
like they're just gonna cut him. I'd assume they're not
just gonna trade him, because, as you pointed out, Kyler
Murray could have some issues in health wise, and so
(29:13):
maybe you're gonna need JJ McCarthy. And they did draft him,
you know, high overall. So I think I figured out
what JJ McCarthy needs to do. He's got to change
his number. Okay, he's got to change his number.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
And he's got too tough to do, mano.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
Okay, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
He's what number doing. I'm change to anything. Anything.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
He's gotta get that look when he gets when he
turns into nine.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
He's got to distance himself as much as he can
from that toolish comment he made talking about his number
and his alter ego, and the only way he's going
to do that is ditching the number.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Yeah, that's probably true. I feel like that's where you've
got to have a close circle of friends. And I'm
fortunate enough to have guys in my life that they
just say, stop, eat a d bag. I don't don't
ever say that again, you know, don't don't do that.
You know, they kind of keep you in check. I
don't know if he's got those guys around him, if
he does they're not doing.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
A good job. But maybe you're not wrong. Maybe the
number change would help solve a.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Lot of issues, because it's not like, well, he needs
a fresh start, you know, change of scenery. No, man,
he just needs a different number. And he may really
love that number, and clearly he does, but you got
to transition and you got to get the hell away
from that.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
What does this have to do with Trinidad.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
Chobless, Well, no, because I didn't know if there was
still meat on the bone there, because maybe he's going
to be eligible and maybe he's not, or this thing
just going to play out.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
I think it's gonna be really interesting to see how
it plays out, because I do think that he doesn't
have a He doesn't have a great case in my mind,
all right. And for those who don't know, he's applied
for a six year of eligibility. He's basically trying to
take what was and this has happened in other places too.
They're trying to take jucos and not qualify that as
(31:03):
NCAA eligibility.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
And there probably is an argument.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
To be made for some of the attorneys out there
who want to make that argument, or people who probably
are old Miss fans that don't have a clue, but
they just want to make the argument to bring him back.
But in reality what could take places. You know, the
NCAA could win this and then Trinidad Cholmlinson, you know,
his group could appeal, but I don't know if they
go outside of the state of Mississippi where they have
(31:27):
to find a what seemed to be a very big
Old Miss fan as a.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
Judge, I'm not sure they're going to rule in his favor.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
And if that's the case, the timing of when all
this takes place could impact the draft. And I would
say this about Trinidad Cholbass he actually has more starting experience,
including all levels of play at quarterback if you if
you you know, add on outside of Old Miss, then
Ty Simpson does. And I think what would be interesting
(31:56):
is this quarterback class is one of which Fernando Mendos'
number one. But I don't know how far Ty Simpson's behind,
and I don't know how far Trinida Chambles would behind.
You know, we talked about next year's draft class and
how many guys be a part of it. We've been
including Trinidad Chelmas as part of that I think with
another year of starting, he's only going to help himself
because you.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Know, there's a little bit of a thought that isn't played.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Much, so you get a little more experience at that level,
and he looks that much more prepared. But I just
felt like as the season went on, he kept getting
better and better and better. He's got a ton of upside.
He's a great athlete, he's got a strong arm, he's
a good decision maker. The only reservation you've got is
most quarterbacks who've played in Lane Kiffin's system have really
struggled with the transitioning to the NFL, and so that's
(32:41):
gonna be something where somebody who gets him is probably
getting a guy who, yes, has a ton of upside
and value, and maybe they view him as the second
best quarterback if he's deemed ineligible and would have to
go into the draft or even the supplemental draft this summer,
like they might have said, hey, this kid would we
might have liked him better than Ty Simpson. But the
problem is, how's he going to showcase himself. You know,
(33:03):
he's gonna be too late to.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Do a pro day.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
I mean, it may be the best thing for him
because what a lot of scouts and organizations would have
to go off of is just the film, which is
probably what they should be doing anyway.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
So it could get interesting here in the next few months.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
And as always we say this, you know, his case
could be precedent setting for a lot of other players
out there who are going to try to.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Do the same thing. So there's a chance. Again I'm
not saying this because when when is the NCAA going
to make their decision? When are we going to get
a ruling on this?
Speaker 1 (33:33):
And is there going to be Well, there's alread an injunction.
Now it's not the NCAA. They've already appealed, so it'll
have to go to the court system. I have no
idea the.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
Timetable WRT so, but it takes a while.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
Ole Missus spring game is April thirteenth, so there's a
chance that he could be at ole Miss's spring game
and then two weeks later he's getting drafted in the NFL,
which is kind of great. You know, I'll be like
I would, I would love to see how that plays out.
That's kind of that's kind of fascinating. And if you
had to bet over under third round, where does he
(34:07):
get drafted.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
I would say under that.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
Again, it's my opinion watching him this year comparing the
ty Simpson, they compare very favorably. He's got more of
an athletic element to his game than I think ty
Simpson does. As far as his ability to create extend
plays move out of the pocket, I think the difference
is ty Simpson makes some NFL throws like he's probably
(34:31):
more prepared even with both as far as the lack
of experience at the you know, power for Division one level,
ty Simpson was running in NFL concepts and schemes. Like
when you watch his reads, when you watch his progressions,
you see him move through there, You're like, Okay, this
is what he's gonna be asked to do at the
NFL level. You know, it's not a lot of just
you know, RPO or one and done or he's kind
(34:53):
of being directed to throw this route, which you get
some of that in other systems out there where you're
not actually reading.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
The d defense you're just looking at the sideline or you're.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
Getting to play and you know where the football is
supposed to go and that's where you're going with the football.
That makes life a lot easier, but that's also not what.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Life is like in the NFL. So uh, there's.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Gonna be different opinions on it. But I think he's
a guy I would consider in the first round. I
don't think he gets out of the second round. If
indeed he would be deemed ineligible, would have to go in.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
This year's draft.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
Yeah, that's a crazy, crazy situation. Ty Simpson, by the way,
favored to be drafted by the Arizona Cardinals on DraftKings.
So that's the that's the shortest odds at plus one fifty,
follow by the Jets at two to one.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
So and where are the Cardinals draft out of they
had three or four?
Speaker 3 (35:39):
That sounds I thought it was somewhere that that vicinity efforting.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
The question is would anyone else want to take him
and trade up ahead.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
Of their three the Cardinals?
Speaker 2 (35:51):
Okay, so you know, is someone going to trade up
with the Jets to take him instead?
Speaker 1 (35:56):
And that's the concern that you'd have if you Arizona.
It's always the concern that's there, especially in a draft
class that Phil thin at.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
The quarterback spot.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
So you know, again, this decision eventually that will come
take place. It's obviously impactful for the NFL draft, whether
Trinidad Chomlas is a part of it or not. Right,
if for one of those teams that may be looking
for one but want to wait and see and you know,
maybe one a guy's more developmental. I mean, honestly, like
Pittsburgh's a team that kind of hits me, where if
Rogers comes back for a year, I wouldn't exclude them
(36:25):
from being a team that would want a draft a
quarterback that could sit behind Rogers for a year, watch
him learn, especially for a guy like Cholmless and then
eventually turn into a player that to me has like
early early on big ben qualities right, like great at
being able to extend plays. He's tough, he's physical, he's
he's a really good player, but has a ton of
(36:47):
upside and a live arm. So there's there's a lot
there to work off of the Trinidad Chamlins and Pittsburgh's
picking at twenty one. Also, so on the subject of
ty Simpson, even like I could see if he's there
and they and they go, you know, give him a year,
let him sit behind Rogers, and then yeah, I just
like future I think again, if Rogers is coming back,
(37:09):
I think you build around Rogers unless you find a
guy who falls through that you feel like it's more
of a project as higher upside. I'm not sure I
see ty Simpson getting outside the top ten, just because.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
I do feel like there's enough of a need to Arizona.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Obviously the Jets have Geno Smith, but I don't, you know,
looking at that deal, I'm not necessarily sure it really
keeps them from drafting one two and doing the same thing.
But as we talked about before, they could be just
setting themselves up to try to get the twenty twenty seven.

Speaker 8 (38:41):
Let's get to these fun stories first. Brady brought up
earlier that it is the second Friday, the thirteenth. We've
had back to back months. So I had to look
up when, like how often this actually happens, and it
happens approximately every ten years, and it has to be
like a February to March month.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
It can't be any that's cool. Yeah, so kind of cool.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Well, because of the short month of February, that's the
only time I could line up.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Right, is this will celebrated on that happens once every
decade every day.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
Pretty cool?
Speaker 8 (39:11):
Yeah, So apparently if it isn't on a leap here,
it can't do it at all. I don't know, it
was a little complicated. I'm not a scientist, but you
know tomorrow is pie Day three point one four, you know, March.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Yeah, Brady, do you like pie?
Speaker 1 (39:30):
I mean, I'm not going to comment now because Jonahs
had to throw us right in the gutter.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
Wait, what right?
Speaker 3 (39:35):
Wow? What's wrong with I.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
Mean, you come on, dude, I thought.
Speaker 8 (39:42):
It was I assumed it was a math joke because
you like math.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
Well, I am practicing lent, So I mean, I like today,
i'd have to have cheese, pizza or something.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
You don't have any meats?
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Oh yeah, what do you?
Speaker 5 (39:55):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (39:55):
We've been We've been going through that a little bit
as well too, A lot of a lot of shrimp fried.
How you can't have shellfish? Never mind? Yeah, so what
do you do?
Speaker 2 (40:04):
She's pizza? You just go like vegetarian for a day
or something. Or have fish.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
It's good for you. Might I recommend Indian Food. They
got some great vegetarian dishes.
Speaker 1 (40:12):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm not willing to test that.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
I mean, given my recent you know, recent bowel issues. Yeah,
I'm not. Yeah, it just feels like a you know,
to risk you of a player.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
So what's going on with Pie Day?
Speaker 6 (40:33):
Ray?
Speaker 5 (40:33):
Well?
Speaker 3 (40:33):
Yeah, we got three point.
Speaker 8 (40:37):
Three five nine and yeah, I know if I kept
going then we run out of time.
Speaker 3 (40:43):
But I plan on having a pizza pie.
Speaker 8 (40:44):
I'm sure there's pie specials all over the place for Yeah,
I would like a banana cream pie.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
Personally, Brady thoughts.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
It's just she's just always right on the line, right
of the line.
Speaker 5 (40:58):
What do you mean?
Speaker 8 (40:59):
Banana cream is the best of.
Speaker 1 (41:00):
All the created It is actually my favorite pie to
Actually that's not surprising.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
