Monday tradition here on the show. He's the smooth operator.

CBS Sports HQ analyst And if you want some of
that smoke on x you can get it at Prisco CBS.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Pete, good morning.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
What's up guys?
Speaker 3 (01:55):
How are you morning?
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Are you sun? Very fresh, rejuvenated? Pa, you know, had
a nice Thanksgiving.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
It sounds like, yeah, it was a you know, it's
a good football weekend, long football weekend, and they took
all the good games and put him on Thursday, and
then we ended up with what we had to watch
on Sunday, which was a lot of bad football.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yeah, yeah, that's what Jonas wants to talk about today.
Speaker 6 (02:14):
So yeah, I'm sure he's excited. Opened up the Gateway
talking NFL.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Same old material.
Speaker 5 (02:22):
Keep on recycling that one, Pete, I do have a
question for you.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
You'd know twenty.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
Five years you've been at CBS Sports twenty five years. Congratulations,
And how did you make it twenty five years there?
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Well?
Speaker 4 (02:40):
I had to put up with a lot of guys
like Brady Quinn over the years, so that that made
it a little challenge. Wow, I had a lot of
really good people to work around me. I've met a
lot of people I've worked with. I've become friends with
Brady being included in that. And look, it's I changed.
When I went there in two thousand. It was an
online writing site and I was a writer, and we adjusted,
(03:02):
you know, and everything went to video and I had
to adjust, and I think I adjusted pretty well. So
you know, you got to you gotta change. That's the
one thing. If people always ask me, what would you
do to go into this business? If you're going to
this business now, I'd say, a specialize in the sport.
If you're a young person, you know, become an expert
or or you really focus in on that sport and
(03:22):
be be yourself. And I think that's that's kind of
carried me where I am is I've always been myself.
I'm not I'm not afraid to put an opinion out there.
I'm not afraid to challenge a player or a coach.
And that's been that way my entire career. So and
and look, put out good content and I think people
will follow you. And then the third most important thing,
(03:43):
You don't want anybody to not love you or hate you.
Be either. Don't be in the middle. If you're in
the middle, you're never going to get an audience. And
I think that's the biggest key to the whole thing.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Oh that's a great scriad advice. I'm just curious to
have you chime in on, like what you think about
the whole way and Kevin stuff, because it seems to
be a pretty mean We got Bill Kawer talking about
it on CBS like postgame halftime show. What's your take
on him leaving old mess to go at LSU.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
I mean, he didn't leave for more money, that's the
weird thing about it. But it's a better situation, Brady.
You know you're involved in it, the nil thing, the
collective and all that. That's where it's at. If you
got a better if the school has a better opportunity
to get players. You're going to go there, and they
have a better opportunity to get players at LSHOOT from
what I understand now, I don't know the details of it,
(04:32):
but you would know better than me. But I think
that's the case. And if that's the case, you take
the job. We all know this look the greatest look.
Bill Belichick might arguably be one of the great coaches
of all time, and look on his team did Why
because you didn't have the players you gotta It's a
player's game. The players win. If you have the players,
you're going to win. And it doesn't matter who the
hell of the coach is. I mean, you got to
(04:52):
have players. If you don't have players, I don't care
who he is, he's not winning. So I think he
made the right decision from that standpoint. If the collective
better now you know better than I do, isn't it Brady?
Is it better at LSU?
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Well, it sounds like they've got deeper pockets there. I
also would take issue with the fact that there wasn't
more money on the table. I think there was a
talk of them matching, but it doesn't sound like maybe
that became the case, when you look at the entire
incentive package as well, and what LSU is willing to
give him along with the money for ANIL. So I
(05:24):
think in totality that package, what he's being compensated, the
NIL stuff, along with the resources they're willing to put
into it probably was better for LSU. And that's why
probably Nick Saban and Pete Carroll, some of the guys
Kiffen referenced, probably told him to go, tell us you
that if you once win a national championship, who have
a better chance to do so?
Speaker 2 (05:42):
There?
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Yeah, I mean, look, these coaches now are getting fired
with tons of years on their on their contracts to look,
if I'm not mistake and Mark Stoops is out now,
are going to be out? And if he puns out, Yeah,
thirty three million dollars less on that contract wasn't a
couple of years ago he was threatening to go to
A and M and they decided to keep him. And
now he's out. I mean, these schools don't care anymore.
(06:07):
Just you know, if there's that much money on the contract,
they're gonna get rid of him. And so it's a
whole different ballgame college football right now. It's you know what.
And by the way, I saw a sleep watching your
Alma monitor the other night and then won't back up again. Prady,
what does college football come down to? Where your team
has taking Shaunston to the end zone up forty nine?
I mean, come on, that's a bit in Miami. I
(06:29):
think the Miami score a touchdown with on the second
throw on the second to last play of the game
for a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
No, it's it's a great question. I was going to
ask the same thing about Arizona who was beating the
drums in of Arizona State, Like what were they doing,
you know, for the Territorial Cup?
Speaker 4 (06:42):
Like what happened to be what they They're back to
being what they are again, which is like an.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Eight degree Yeah forks, but put your fork down and
go watch. There's a stake get blasted.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
No, look, look, I'm not going to sit here and
pump up Arizona State. They're playing with the backup quarterback
is not very good a And you know, hi, I don't.
I think Dillingham is a program builder who isn't a
great game coach, and Miami has one of those guys
in Mario Crystobal. Program builder, not a game great game, coach,
but what college football has become at the end of it?
Come on, Brady, that was that's tacky. You don't think
(07:14):
there's any anything class list in that you're forty nine
to twenty on a bad Stafford team and you're throwing
fort the zone.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
First off, no one, I wouldn't say that. I would
say they were up. I think it was forty two
where your record time. Well, they ended up winning forty
nine to twenty, so I think you're look at the
five box.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Score score in the end, they didn't score in the end,
they were trying.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
To well look, well, Here's what I'd say, though, is
if you have a common opponent, which Miami and Notre
Dame do, and the entire speculation is about, you know,
how you're comparing these two teams, it kind of matters, right,
And you can make the same case about Syracuse.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
That's the point.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Okay, okay, but but hold on. You could say the
same thing about the Syracuse game. The difference was they
had backups in almost the entire second in half, and
so at some point you want your backups too, to
get experience throwing the football down the field and doing
things like I actually thought, and Ohio State doesn't. They're
in No matter what they're in, they're in. Right. I
thought Ryan Day got conservative in the second half. I
(08:14):
wanted to see him throw more shots down the field
at the end of the game because they had the
opportunity to do so, and they didn't. They just kind
of kept running the football to run the clock out.
So you're talking to the wrong guy. Because I love
in some of these rivalry games and there are name Stanford,
there's there's a little more there than I think people
lead on because Stanford hasn't been as competitive late, but
there's no love loss there. There's no love loss between
(08:36):
you know, different different universities like that, especially on the
West Coast.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
If I if I'm on that Stanford team, I'm putting
a forum in somebody's face and saying, Okay, you want
to do this, then we're gonna do that.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
We're gonna go ahead and do it, go ahead and
do it.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
And what happens is you I mean, you just it's brandy.
It's not worth it. It's just not worth it. If
you need that extra touchdown to go to the playoffs,
and that then the whole system is best stopped that's
all I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Well, again, it's it's not the system that you're accustomed
to in the NFL, and so because of that, you know,
you have to look at it a little bit differently
because you've got a twelve person committee that decides who
goes and who doesn't.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Well, I get it, and that's the problem. That's part
of the problem.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
It's part of the part of the intrum though too.
Like no one's talking about the NFL as much right
now because there's not as much.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
Cross off to talk about it. Brady.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
You know, I'm just saying, we're not talking.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
We haven't talked about it really once at all. Today.
You just mentioned the game's stunk on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
I can confirm that.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Yeah, well, let's let's talk about Atlanta the Jets, right,
Torod Taylor and the Jet We do want to talk
about it.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
I bet you were talking about it on Friday when
you had three three games on Thursday. I bet you were.
You weren't working on Friday.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
I was up an arbor.
Speaker 6 (09:44):
Yeah, okay, dang, why are you taking shots Pete about
let that man live?
Speaker 3 (09:51):
He was up with big Now, right, we we held
it down that there's three of them.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
Happy twenty five years if he comes out fire a day.
Speaker 6 (10:00):
He came all so jovial. Now you've turned into the curmudget.
Can I ask you about speaking of pro Okay, go
go go get him good?
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Wait, come out.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
I'm getting these tweets at me with references in Jonas
saying you got to get all over him because all
he does is sit or that you sit in that
show and rip on the Jacksonville market and Jaguars also boring.
Speaker 5 (10:22):
It's a boring team to boring franchise. Why they play
half their games in London? Nobody cares.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
It's true, No, they play. No, they play half their
games in London because they make a lot of money
playing their games in London. They play one game in London,
by the way, it's look the.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Bottom line, did you played two this year last year?
Speaker 4 (10:38):
No? To last year. But and they are building a
new stadium and they're going to be half of that.
They're going to play in Orlando in a couple of
years for a year. So but look, the bottom line is, Look,
they're not a good team. But like I said last night,
after all the shows, who the hell is any damn good?
I mean, really, when you look at the NFL, who's
any good right now?
Speaker 1 (10:57):
If you look, I would I would have said the
Rams until that.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
Right is Denver? They New England? Are those the good teams?
Denver was pushed to the limit last night by a
crappy Washington team. I mean they all have flaws and
that's that's why the playoffs are so wide open. But
right now, nobody's any good. But but Jonas, I'm telling
you that Jacksonville market is coming after you.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
They are Oh wow, I mean, listen, who cares. There's
like four fans there. There's four fans there.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
They're still you have you have no idea.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
There's the who's got the beach house? It's not too
far that.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
It's a good market. You're crazy.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
I got to Jacksonville, by the way. I love going there.
You know, it's an awesome place. And actually Buddy, who
is raising his family down there, he loves it too.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
But Brady, here's the problem with the market and Jonas
right now, they're so jaded because of everything they've been
through over the years. I mean, think about it. They've
had a lot of crappy teams. So from that standpoint,
you're right. But when they're winning. It's a really good market.
I promise you I'll go was Seattle's market before they
started winning.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Well, it depends on how far you go back, Like
some people love that market back in the day with
Jim Zorn and.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
Lost and it wasn't good and now it's great. It's
you know, it might be one of the best markets
in the league.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
And so winning winning matters, success matters. I think that
you're really going out on a limb with that take there.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
Pete, Well me the legacy franchise.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Thanks, Why are you going on my boy Prisco like that?
Speaker 4 (12:34):
God?
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Thanks, I just draw.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
No matter what. You know, that's the legacy franchises. I
mean you you played for one. I mean there's those
old time franchises. They'll draw no matter who's playing at
that stadium. So but Miami, Miami has a hard time drawing.
I mean they do. That's reality.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Have we seen enough of Sanders to get a sense
for for what he is?
Speaker 4 (12:53):
You're on, God, I think he needs to play. I
think he needs to play the rest of the season.
You know what you haven't doing?
Speaker 3 (13:01):
He reel.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
He's not the answer, and so far the door has
been not the answer. He's been okay, and so let him.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
So far not the answer.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
Let him play. I don't think. I think. I think
they know deep down that neither one of those guys
is the long term answer. So he'll play the rest
he should play the rest of the way. I let
him play the rest of the way, and I go
into the draft. They have two first round picks next year,
and you can make a move to go get a
quarterback if you have to, if you're not near the top,
And I think that's what they need to do. Do
you guys think Sandor Sanders is the long term answer?
(13:32):
You think Dylan Gabriel is a long term answer?
Speaker 3 (13:34):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
I don't. I don't know, but I need to see more.
I'd like to see more from from really both of them,
quite frankly. But I do feel like it's perfect timing
that he gets into what.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Yeah, I mean, that's true.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
You can't play the song sleep line the scenes there.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
It was a great, great pool though. I'll say that.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
What do you guys think? What do you think, LeVar?
Do you think he's played himself into the spot where
he should be the long answer a quarterback?
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Yeah, LeVar, what do you think they can't ask us
what do you think, LaVar?
Speaker 6 (14:04):
And that's an interesting way of Q sitting there turning
this into.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
That what he just did ask me?
Speaker 6 (14:12):
I think he had some bright moments in the game yesterday.
I think he gave them a little bit of a charged,
a little bit of a little boost, but.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
It just was not enough.
Speaker 6 (14:23):
It wasn't enough for them to be effective enough to
score more than what they did. I know we give
as Miles Garrett continues to get to the quarterback and
do amazing things. I think that that their defense doesn't
do well enough for any quarterback to be really judged
(14:48):
at the level of can they be the guy or not?
Like I don't feel like any quarterback isn't in spite
of quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, I just I don't
see it that way.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
So, but whether we all made the decision on doing
Gabriel already.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
I haven't. I have not made decision.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
I thought.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
I thought it, No, I did not.
Speaker 6 (15:11):
I feel like in order to get an idea of
what somebody can be, they should have time. But he
went out due to an injury. He went out due
to an injury. They felt like they wanted to see
what Shador Sanders could do. So which one do you
give the time to do it? I don't know. Is
it a recipe for success for either one of them?
(15:32):
I would say no, because the team isn't good enough
for you to to leverage it that way. So I
feel like they're both going to get a bum rap
out of the situation. Neither one of them are in
a advantageous situation. That's what I would say. Whether they're
good enough to be a starting quarterback at the pro
level or not. I mean, both of them have started,
(15:52):
but can they be successful. I don't know that they'll
get that opportunity in Cleveland, that is what I would say.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
I would say I would lean to a hard know.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
On both of them on that Pete. On that note,
do you feel like Stefanski is is out after this year?
Speaker 4 (16:07):
I think thinks he's out after this year. And I
think Stefanski thinks he he's out after this year. He
might get a job somewhere else, I really do. Don't
you think he's going to get a job somewhere else.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
I mean, he would be on the top of my
list based on what he's done various ten years a
head coach, throughout the NFL. And again, you know people
might bock at that, but the truth of the matter
is he's been a multiple year you know, multiple time
uh you know, coach of the Year and that doesn't
just fall off trees for you in the NFL. So clearly.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
He got straddled, I mean saddled with that that quarterback
that he didn't want to well, the owner made him.
The owner made him do that. They made him go
trade for the quarterback. They gave away a ton of
assets for for that guy, and and he won. He
won that good to begin with, he was okay, and
you traded all those that they gave him that guaranteed money,
and the team went to toilet after that. That's basically
(17:04):
what happened. They had Baker Mayfield, and Baker Mayfield got
hurt that one year. Remember Baker Mayfield was really good
early in his career and then he got hurt. They
didn't there was no patience with him, and they sent
him packing. They made a major mistake. And once you
made a major mistake against from what I understood against
coaches will then you're never going to have a good
team and you're never going to a successful team.
Speaker 5 (17:23):
Anymore, and that was the problem Pete Prisco keep it
in that same division. What are you seeing from the
Pittsburgh Steelers specifically on offense?
Speaker 4 (17:32):
Well, Rogers was sitting at that bench, sitting there going,
oh my god, why did I come back for this garbage?
I mean, did you see his noses all broke? He's
got cuts all over it, He's bleeding, and he looked
like his hand is broke. I mean, you don't think
at any moment he's sitting on the sideline, sitting there
all swumped over going what the hell am I doing?
Guys aren't running the right rout? He said. It looks
(17:55):
like there's some friction between you know, what's going on
between the play calling and the coaching and and what's
being run. I mean, it's a disaster. And look.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Because he always have to throw someone under the bus.
Though I'm pretty sure you threw John O. Smith under
the bus at one point. It's just I feel like
it's like he always has to air someone out after
the game instead of just moving, you know, try to
get through the interview to move on.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
You know, that's that's him. You know, he's always going
to throw somebody else under the bus. If he's going down,
he's taking people with him.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
That's who.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
That's what Aaron Rodgers is going to do. But they're
not very good. I mean they the Buffalo Bills ran
first and forty dards or whatever yesterday. I mean, my god,
with two backup tackles. The Steelers aren't good. But the
amazing thing is is neither are the Ravens.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Right now.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
Lamar Jackson's struggling. I mean that team is struggling in
a big way too. Nobody what if the Bengals got
on a heater? I mean, what if the Bengals and
Joe Burrow got on a heater. I don't think it's
gonna happen, but I mean, look at look at them.
I mean, they'd be fun to watch. Those other two
teams right now aren't fun to watch, that's for sure.
Speaker 6 (19:01):
Well it's possible that they could because the division is
in flux.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
But the stick this week, that's gonna be a tough
game for Buffalo. I mean, and if they lose, if
they lose one more, they're pretty much done.
Speaker 6 (19:14):
Buffalo is Doctor Jekyl mister Hyde. They they have not
been consistent and consistent enough to call them what I
would say a top elite team, they just I don't
know if they hit their ceiling.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
I just don't know.
Speaker 6 (19:28):
And it's and it's so crazy because what this conversation
led me to and and pre pre pre show notes
and thoughts was this is one of the more competitive
seasons of coach of the year and because there are
no teams that are considerably better than the rest. I mean,
(19:49):
I look at the Broncos, I look at the Patriots
and what's being done there. I look at what's taking
place in Chicago. I look at some of these teams
and like, even with the Miko Ryans in Texas, what
he's been able to do with that team, what Kyle
Shanahan has been able to do with what he's got
going on in San Francisco. While I'll say I don't
(20:12):
feel like there's a pronounced dominant team in the league
right now, I feel like you're seeing who the good
coaches are, who's bringing that that acumen and that element
to that level of expertise to the table. And it's
I feel like that's been pretty cool to watch. Like
(20:33):
I would have never thought that Ben Johnson could turn
it around as quickly as he did.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
In Chicago.
Speaker 6 (20:39):
I never would have thought I'd be talking about the
Bears being you know where they are right now, and
and so with a quarterback with quarterback play too. By
the way, I just so I you know, I feel
like it's a coaches year more so than it is
a team, like a dominant team. It's more so like
getting through the elements of what you have going on. None,
(21:00):
none have done it better than Kyle Shanahan.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
If you ask me, I'm with you on Kyle Shanahan.
By the way, I think Kylin Shanahan has never won
Coach of the Year. He's finished the runner up twice.
And to me, well, and I said that last night
on our So Kyle Shanahan has done an amazing job
with that team this year. It really has. I mean,
all the injuries, navigating through everything that's happened over there,
he's done a fantastic job. He's in the conversation you
mentioned Ben Johnson, He's in that conversation. Mike Brabell for sure,
(21:24):
and Liam Cohen if they win the division, he's in
the conversation. You're right, some of these coaches have done
amazing jobs with their teams, and but Kyle Shanahan. Look,
we've all we know Kyle Shanahan to help coach. We
know that, but this year they're nine to four. They
play coming out of their buy, they play the Titans
at home. They should win that to get to ten.
If they win one more game, that team is going
(21:47):
to win eleven games and have gone beat the Rams
on the road with Mac Jones. I mean that tells
you where they are as an organization. But hey, Kyle
Shanahan has done.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
An amazing job, Pete, give me a team that might
prize us that at this juncture of the season you
were out on You're just like, I just I'm not
a believer. I don't think it could be obviously the
Chiefs who lost on Thanksgiving. It could be a number
of teams. Maybe it's the Eagles, you know, who lost
to Jonas's Bears. Well, we kind of just referenced with
(22:18):
Ben Johnson. Give me a team that you're at. Maybe
maybe the Colts. I don't know what team though. Are
you kind of saying like I'm out, I think they're
going to fall apart the rest.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
Of the season, Well, I mean the Chiefs can't afford
one more loss, So basically they're there, they've already fallen apart.
So you know, I don't they can't lose one more
game if they're done. And so there, I'm a major
I'm majorly concerned about that team. But who's going to
fall apart? That's playing well right in that we thought
was the Colts of the team to keep an eye on,
(22:46):
I mean, theirs that they've lost three or four, and
when you look at it, they go to Jacksonville this week,
they've never they ever won their since twenty fourteen. They
have to go play the Texans on the road again,
and so I just I don't know, I'm worried about
that team.
Speaker 5 (23:03):
Is there anybody to blame specifically on that team that
you look at and go, that's that's a real issue
for them moving forward.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
No, I mean Daniel Jones has been okay. I mean
he's turned the ball over. He didn't turn it over
on Sunday. But sometimes in this league, you are what
you are. I mean, let's be real, I mean, you
are what you are. And so they three lost three
or four and they were riding high. And now, look,
(23:31):
we don't know what Sauce Gardner's injury is. I mean
all of a sudden, Jacksonville was the first place in
that division. If they beat him in that game, then
they're real trouble. So yeah, I'd say the Colts will
be the one I'm worried about. I didn't like Brady.
I'm glad you reference the Eagles because they got maulled
in the run game the other day. What the hell
was that? I mean, they got pushed all Chicago ran
(23:51):
it right down their throat and they couldn't do a
thing about it. And that's not a good luck that
the calling card for the Eagles has always been dominant
on those lines and they're dominant on neither right now.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
Yeah, well you've been dominant, Pete for over twenty five years.
And congratulations again, Pete Prisco, senior NFL columnists for CBS Sports,
CBS Sports HQ analysts. You can get them on X
at Prisco CBS. Let's do it again next week, Pete.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
We will and Jacksonville's coming for you, Jonas. They got
you in your right in their site, buddy.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
Fast damn it.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
That's a problem, thanks, Pete.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
A big time problem. You know what else is a
problem when you're like not really feeling it and not
really into the whole workout routine and everything else trying
to stay in shape, especially on the holidays, we're you know, snacking,
eating Thanksgiving, good meals, good dinners. But look, it's time
to stop waiting to start your fitness goals. Start now.

the best call on Mikita built to be the best
available at the Home Depot, how pros get more done.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
So I was noticing something.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
What were you noticing?
Speaker 5 (26:36):
We were talking about Lane Kiffin taking the LSU job.
We're talking about some row, We're talking about all these
like Pat Fitzgerald, like all these things are getting.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
Like these here you goe where are you going? Where?
Just where are you going with this? Well? Haven't I
seen someone get.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Hired for Penstone?
Speaker 3 (26:57):
Just?
Speaker 2 (26:58):
I mean totally me.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
It does beg the question of bar It's not that
you know, more ridiculous stats.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
We're coming up on two months. What are we doing here?
Speaker 1 (27:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (27:07):
I mean, you guys answer that question, don't. I mean,
I don't have the answer.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
I'm just saying, if there was a plan in place
when you fired James Franklin to move on from a
guy who's built that program up, what the hell happened?
Because it feels like we're still waiting and there's other
candidates who are good, good coaches getting hired elsewhere.
Speaker 6 (27:28):
M Okay, I mean, you guys got to tell me
what you think, because I don't.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
I don't.
Speaker 6 (27:36):
I don't have the answers for you. I know, our
our letterman and alumni want. You know, one thing. I
know that there's you know the idea of what it
could possibly be from you know media angles. There have
been reports there are there's all kinds of spect.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
You will need to give you some candidates that I mean,
there's a lot of Kalaate Sataki, the head coach at
b YU, who is obviously is he trying to play
for the Big twelve championship and knock off Texas Tech.
That is one of the candidates that has been out there,
particularly in the betting markets. Bob Chesney, which he's rumored
to be the top person of interest for UCLA. That's
(28:14):
the James Master guy. He's also playing against Troy with
a potential chance of getting into the College Football playoff.
Many think if indeed they win and if Duke knocks
off Uva, that James Madison would go ahead of Duke,
given that I think Duke's got with five losses, but
they'd be the A SEC champs, So that's one consideration.
(28:35):
Brian Harline, the offensive coordinator for Ohio State. They're busy
preparing for Indiana in the Big Ten championship game. There's
also been some other names that have been thrown out there.
Josh Heipel, the head coach at Tennessee. Caitlin de boor
of the current head coach at Bama who's playing for
the SEC championship, So a lot of big names. Now
(28:55):
I'll say this, a lot of big names will throw
out initially too, and none of those things came before.
So I know Penn State fans are gonna get frustrated
when I say this, but it feels like whatever the
plan was, it fell apart after maybe a couple of
guys signed extensions and decided not to go to Penn State.
Speaker 6 (29:15):
I'm gonna say I disagree with it, but that's only
just based off of my opinion. I think the plan
is very much in play, and I think the plan
is the plan, and I think it's it's still if
the name that I hear in the end is the
name that gets called, because I do not have definitive
information here, so I'm just just with that being said.
(29:39):
But if what it is that I am aware of
is what it is, it's still in play and it's
still going.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
To happen, okay. Brian Dable also the from a fired
head coach at the Giants. He has been interviewing for
this job as well. He is a person of interest.
Sounds like there are some former Penn State players who
have been and prompting him up as well. Even though
he came outside of coaching, as the OC at Bama
doesn't have any head coaching experience in the college ranks,
(30:09):
so that could be that would be interesting. Outside of that,
I mean again, you know, there's there's a lot of
speculation of why, you know, why would hype A leave
Tennessee or why would do Bor leave Bama. There's even
conversation Lincoln Riley, you know, pokers head around having some
interest now that also made its way out there on
message boards about Lincoln rather looking at the Florida job, which, again,
(30:33):
we don't know how much credibility there are to any
of this. These are all things that are just floated
out there. There's some betting markets that have these coaches
up for the odds and being coming the next Penn
State head coach. But it does beg the question when
this was one of the first jobs to come open,
it doesn't feel like there was a great plan in place,
(30:53):
and as Terry Smith keeps winning, there might be a
little momentum too for him to potentially become or stand
as the head coach.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Yeah, yeah, good good quality take. I mean, as you
always do.
Speaker 6 (31:07):
I mean, I very rarely hear you a bad take
on things like, it's a good it's a good take.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
I mean, you're close with the Antonio Pierce he wants
back in. What about ap.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Ap can't coach at the college level, that's right? Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
What do they call that show show cause or some
What was the ban? Well, I don't think he was banned, right,
he just got in trouble for his time in Arizona State.
Speaker 6 (31:33):
Though he's banned for like seven eight years or something
like that.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
Why did you just do the right thing and bring
back Bill O'Brien. Enough enough here, enough enough, Okay.
Speaker 3 (31:46):
That sounds interesting that while.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
What had he received an eight show cause? An eight
year show cause it apparently from the NCAA for the
fruiting violations that Arizona.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
What's the difference between being banned and having a.
Speaker 6 (31:59):
Show What's what? What is it? What's the difference? He
can't coach at the college level for I mean.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
If any school that would hire him during this eight
game period during the show cause, he'd be automatically suspended
for his entire first season.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
Well, the good news is by the time that is.
Speaker 5 (32:17):
Over with, Penn State will be ready to announce a
head coaching So that's.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
A good point that actually makes a lot of sense.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
For you know him now much credit.
Speaker 6 (32:27):
I was giving you so much credit for great take takes, Q,
and then you you hitched your wagon onto Jonas's dum state.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
He's the guy. If he's the guy, you go ahead
and you go get him now, you know, go through
that you know, rebuild kind of year, and then you're
right back into it.
Speaker 6 (32:47):
You know what's crazy airport. If Antonio Peers was hired
as Penn State's next hey football coach outside of the
eight game suspension show cause whatever it is, it would
be a dope, a dope dope, super amazing high for
(33:07):
them because he would crush it. And recruiting, he's in
New York here, he's a New York you know, super
Bowl champion, played for Washington. Everybody knows who great recruiter anyway,
But that's just that's my boy. Like if if they
said that about you know, Brady Quinn, I'd say the
same exact thing. Doesn't mean I mean, it doesn't mean
it's true in real life.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Job.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
I'll take that job.
Speaker 6 (33:32):
Okay, Okay, that's okay, I mean twelve twelve million dollar
figures getting thrown out there, let's go coach cute with
your d Q bro like assistant. Make me your assistant
head coach man. That's how you know I'll help out.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Well, you don't have to recruit though.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
For me, I'll help recruit now. I know how to recruit.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
Very persuasive. Trust, yeah, very persuasive.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
How to get it done now? Anyway, the plan is
a plan, is there is there.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
Is there a timeline on this sword just is Terry
building up more momentum as they keep winning, like I
would imagine that's you know, that's that's play a factor
or No.
Speaker 6 (34:19):
I've stayed out of it due to the fact I
don't want to have to like Terry is. Like obviously
I'm a fan of Terry Smith. I mean I love
Terry as a person. I love him as one of
my alumni brother Letterman brothers. Like you know how that
is cute, like the like I had and he's a
good man. Like It's not like I just like him
(34:41):
because he played at ben State. He's from Pittsburgh. You know,
I know his son real well, justin King. It's not
it's not just that that that makes me like what
he's done.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
He's been there for a really really long time.
Speaker 6 (34:57):
He has been a bright spot for our program with
the lockdown you and stuff like that. Like he's like,
we've had some really fine players come from our defensive
secondary under his his his watchful eyes. So he's done
an amazing job as a head coach. He figured it out.
(35:19):
I mean he figured he didn't. You know, you get
thrust into a situation where you have to play against
Ohio State and Iowa and both games.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
Are on the road, and those are your games that
you have.
Speaker 6 (35:29):
To come into this turbulent situation, and I think it
I would love to see how those games played out
if he played them now with some time under his belt.
He almost clipped Indiana, almost got him. Outside of some
extraordinary moments for Indiana on that last drive, I thought
(35:49):
they had that game in the bag. So I think
there is some legitimacy to the conversation, but how much
I don't know, like just based off of what I
feel like or where I kind of sense it may
be going. I think the original idea was the original idea,
(36:10):
and I think the original idea is going to come
to fruition.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
And I'm I'm a.
Speaker 6 (36:13):
Whole steady and see if I'm right, but we'll see,
and I don't you know, if I'm being honest, like,
I'm just waiting to see what the original what the
original plan looks like when the decision is made. That's
that's I'm gonna stay there because I almost said something
that I caught myself speaking and I'm gonna stay away
from it.
Speaker 5 (36:34):
Speaking of the original, how about Sesame Street. It helped
raise all of us. Now it's our turn donate this
holiday season at sesame dot org because the world needs
Sesame and var Sesame needs you. Coming up next here,

Time to find out what's left tons incredible.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
Here's the left over Tyler Ray Ray, She's back. What
do we got?
Speaker 8 (37:42):
Oh my gosh, you know today is IR day and
I got one for the books. Okay, it's not my IR,
but I saw this from the Thanksgiving Day parade. A
young dance team is going viral because they kept performing
despite having to do it in a pile of horse
species that was left behind by the NYPD's mounted squad.
They even had to get down on their hands and
(38:03):
knees and part of this routine good.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
I mean, that's just dedication to the craft.
Speaker 6 (38:11):
You know, Sometimes you just gotta you gotta deliver when
the delivery calls for you to deliver.
Speaker 5 (38:19):
Have you guys ever watched his names Giving Parade? I've
never watched it one time in my life, never once,
never once.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
Watched it, wash it. It's good stuff, you know, good? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (38:31):
Is that what that is?
Speaker 7 (38:32):
Like?
Speaker 1 (38:32):
The float?
Speaker 8 (38:33):
And I almost died when year watching it. I was
sucking on a warhead and it went down my throat
and got lodged, and I went into the back to
go and try and get it out all by myself,
and I like almost, And.
Speaker 3 (38:43):
Then you learned a lot about yourself.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
Then, yes I did, bar yes.
Speaker 6 (38:49):
Never and you have never faced that type of dilemma
ever again.
Speaker 8 (38:52):
Never again. Another warhead has never entered.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
I hate him.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
Stop it.
Speaker 6 (39:04):
The nerve of it to be called a warhead, for
it to be called a warhead is what makes it.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
We gotta go out of here.
