Bro. The weather in the Midwest is wild, like it
is drunk. I'll put it that way.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
I just saw a video of a blizzard in Wisconsin.
It looks like but it was like warm dorm.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
It was seventy right two days ago. Right now people
are getting snow. There was winds I believe up in
Cleveland at the like Burke Lakefront Airport, they got up
to seventy one miles an hour. I'm talking like trees
knocked over everywhere it was. It's been a wild past
(01:46):
forty eight hours in the Midwest.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
It's going to be ninety five out here. Eh, it's
really rude. Yeah, be's volleybas so hot.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
I don't know, it doesn't make any sense. It's about
that time of the year to get warm. Ninety five
five found a warm up. What's July same? Maybe one
hundred and two. My paleass can't handle that.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Yeah, I don't know, man, Maybe it's the end of
the world. Who knows.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
I'm gonna be right there at the end on the
beach chilling. Yeah, not me. Yeah, I mean we can
tell you don't get very much sun. Joh.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
I mean I do. I get a lot of sun.
I just got to put past SPF two thousand on.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
You really do look like a Danish cream filling, Like
that's your pigment color.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Geez.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
I was. We had a bakery this weekend and I
was looking. I was like, oh, that's like.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
I do a show with that thing right there, right
there in the glass.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
We have one of those place yea then filling.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Yeah, look, I get a lot of sun.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
I'm always out and about, but yeah, I gotta I
got a code up layer up with with a bunch
of SPF.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
So it's a little annoying, but you got to do it.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
And apparently, if the weather's going to keep rolling out,
ninety degree days just going to happen more and more
out of here. So but to everybody in the Midwest,
if you've got power, we appreciate you listening to the show.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
And if you don't, we appreciate you listening to the
show until your electronic runs out of electricity.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
But you know what, if if you get a snow
day on Thursday, if you're a kid, that's pretty sweet.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Can watch it too, that would be pretty sweet.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Ye.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
It's such a great time of year to be a kid,
you know, you get to celebrate, you know, a holiday,
which I don't know. Saint Patrick's Day is big in
some communities, but then it's like really March Madness that
gets his own holiday as well.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Yeah, there's been times where Saint Patti's Day has fallen
on the Thursday that the tournament opened, and I just
remember getting butchered.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
Yeah, and just watching.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Basketball all day, all day, just an all day drink fest.
Those are the good old days. And then all of
a sudden kids had to getting the way.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
You know, how do you avoid them sins? What do
you do to avoid.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Throwing it all? Cyclops it? Yeah, you just, uh, you
just cover one eye. I'm telling you, everybody knows that
you down.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
That you walk you down that street every time. Yeah, hey,
you got to cyclops it.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
I'm just trying to imagine what that looks like. You're
just walking around holding.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
One eye close, just close one eye so you can.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Tell people in the eye well because you just I just.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
I got something in my eye and they're like, but
there's there's nothing anywhere around that would be in your eye,
and say no, it's just you know, trying to figure
stuff out here and like people have been. I know
everybody who's listening to this can relate. You probably have
had it happen this weekend. You're up late, you've been
drinking all night, You're you're eating fast food you brought home,
and you're trying to watch something on TV. And you've
got and your cyclops in it. You're covering one eye
(04:48):
or keeping one eye closed so you can see what's
on TV as you devour curly fries that were made
two weeks ago that they just rolled back because they
knew you were hammered when you pulled through. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
I thought you said you got to keep one leg
on the ground, like you can't put your whole body
in the bed. You took one leg on the ground.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Yeah, I don't know what that I I think you've
said that before. I don't know what that accomplishes. I
really don't like, what would that do.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
You're the one who's told me that. You gave me that.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
You never said that. I've said the spins.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
Right, like the spins that you're trying to stop from. Yeah,
because it makes you remember that you're grounded. Really, Yeah,
it's supposed to make it where you stop spinning because
it's like, Okay, the ground.
Speaker 6 (05:32):
Is right here.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Did it work for you? No?
Speaker 5 (05:33):
I usually have to sit up, but if I start spinning,
it's like second.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
There's no going back. I can't. That's that's the hardest
place to be in. Yeah, that's a hard place.
Speaker 6 (05:44):
It's always as soon as I lay down.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
You ever try to walk it off, you just start walking.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
I was pretty close yesterday. I was close. I was
closed to blown chunks and I wasn't. I wasn't trying.
I don't try to get faded like that anymore. Just
but I would sit there. I was waiting, I was
people watching in hermosa. It was a nice day out.
And yeah, I mean next thing, you know, I was
like on number six double double Mescals and pineapple juice
(06:15):
was yummyyeh man. I went to get up, go ma
whoa yeah. Yeah. Didn't drive home? No, I did not. Yeah,
And that was it. That was that was the cap off.
Like that, that was the end. Now you got to
keep one leg on the on the floor. I seem
to be. I've recovered pretty well, except my gyat dang Achilles,
(06:39):
tendons started hurting sid I hit a flare up, I
drank too much. So there you go. The gout attacked
me morning, flush it out.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
The greatest uh drunken convenient, I guess posture invention of
all time is the reverse sitting on the toilet.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Explain this again?
Speaker 1 (07:02):
That cute.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
How how does this work? Again?
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Well, you've got to have a back to the toilet,
like a toilet topper. But yeah, instead of just you know,
facing out, you face towards the back of it, and
that way you can just pass out and fall asleep
on that.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
So you take the top of it off and put
your head in the top of No, you.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Keep top on. You just you're laying on top of it.
It's like a tabletop. Yeah, we called that the meat wagon.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Would give anything to have been in the room when
that came to mind, him realizing, you know, this is
a pretty convenient.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
That's mind blowing.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
You're just straddling a toilet and reverse.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
I mean, you can't tell me by the way that
like that maybe shouldn't be how you use it every time.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Yes, and that's literally how he used the bathroom. It's
in reverse.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Yeah, especially when like you know, he's getting after it
pretty good.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Yeah, that's interesting. Yeah, I mean you support yourself like
it makes sense instead of like of it falling forward.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Think about how relaxed you are. Yeah, you can literally
like started kind of taking out.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
I mean, who did make it where you have to
face forward to do it? And why is it forward?
Why is it considered to be forward? You don't ride
your bike forward. You don't ride a motorcycle that way.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
You turn around and you hold onto something, you know,
So why wouldn't you hold onto a toilet?
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (08:24):
Why don't they give you handles to hold on? Yeah?
But but why Yeah, you get the hold of you
but with you, man, you get that good balance, you
get the hold on something. All right. It's a great invention, though,
(08:46):
it really is. I want to try that today. You
try to do it in reverse? All right, I'm gonna
tell you how it goes.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Yeah, Brady tried to sell me on the Squatty Body
years ago, and I was like, nah, it's all.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Don't don't even start. I wait money on that. I'm
not even sure I got to Actually I did get
a refund and they didn't want the product back. That's
how bad bad it was. And by the way, go
check out what that guy's.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
Doing right now. I'm aware. I was hoping you didn't
see that.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
No, I saw it. I was just I'll wait to
drop this one on radio. Yeah, yeah, LeVar, look up
the inventor of the squatty potty. See what that guy's
up to. That's Jonas is basically Lord and Savior. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
I hadn't seen it.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
I hadn't seen the follow up to that story, but
I would imagine sales have probably had a low based
on the reports that came out.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Uh you know, Oh no, sooner or later, everybody's gonna
get got. So yeah. So there's that.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
By the way, if you're into video games, celebrities are
just a good time. The Global Gaming League is a

League dot com.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
What's that everybody gets got? Yeah? Got got?
Speaker 3 (10:04):
That's what happens man, scumbag behavior, it's scumbag results. Speaking
of a couple of guys that aren't scumbags, the Atlanta
Falcons with two of Tagua bay Loa coming in and
being signed to a one year deal. That's crazy with
Michael Pennix Junior still there on the roster.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Makes you wonder about the squatty potty now though, huh yeah,
like what was going through his mind? If that's the
type of stuff.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Sure does I went through mine, all right. So with
that being said, Ian Cunningham, who's the GM of the Falcons,
sure seems like he's a GM. I mean it sure
seems like, you know, he's more than just the face
that he does have some some responsibility there. Makes you
wonder why the Bears weren't given comp pics for his hiring.
But nonetheless, Ian Cunningham is the GM of the Falcons,
(10:55):
and he discussed the thought of who's the starting quarterback
for Atlanta at this point in the year.
Speaker 7 (11:01):
We're not in the business of really handing out starting
positions in February, and you know in March the same
right for Tua coming in here, he knows he's coming
in to compete, just like Michael knows that he's coming
in to compete. And everybody, quite frankly, not just those
two at the quarterback position, but everybody's coming in to compete.
There's no starters right now, and you know, we're excited
(11:22):
to have Tua, but we're excited to have all the
players that we were able to get this free agent class.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
I would be shocked if two is not the starter.
When this whole thing gets going.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
It just feels like Michael Pennix Junior, the riding's on
the wall. That's why they went out and got Tua,
And it seems like they can say whatever they want,
but this is a lah the JJ McCarthy stuff with
the Minnesota Vikings. They can say, you know, hey, listen,
we're not going to name a starter, but you don't
go out and bring that guy in if you were
sold on the fact that the guy you drafted was
(11:53):
going to be the starting quarterback moving forward. So it
feels like two is two is the front runner at
this point trying to get that job.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Believe that, yes, why would they go on you believe that? Q?
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Well, I don't know that Michael Pennox is going to
be healthy enough in time. You know, he he had
he tore his ACL and he had reconstructive surgery. I
believe that's like his third is, you know, playing career.
So I'm not even sure he's going to be healthy
enough to compete, at least by the time the off
season training opens and into like the summertime, I'll be
(12:27):
I'll be curious of the timetable. So sheerly just out
of the the injury that occurred I believe in November
of this past year, you'd think it'd be to his
job because he's gonna be taking all the first team
reps right out of the gate.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
I could see if that is the circumstance of playing
out the way that you're saying, Jonas. But if if
Michael Pennix is up and ready to play and he's
healthy enough to play, I think he's got to. You
gotta be considering him your your starter. But it's a
new regime. They didn't draft him. Yeah, yeah, But I
(13:00):
still think for continuity purposes, I think you would come
in and most likely I mean not be like coming
in and saying that you're having an open competition like anywhere,
like when what's his name came into Jacksonville or the
coach came into Chicago, Like it's you know, like you're
(13:23):
gonna still start Kayler Williams. You're still going to start Trevor, Trevor, Uh,
what's Trevor's last name? Lawrence? There you go, that's all
I'm saying. I would assume if Michael Pennix is healthy.
He didn't finish out the year healthy, obviously with the tear,
he didn't finish out the year playing. But if he's
(13:43):
able to play, I don't think that you come in
and it's like okay, it's wide open as in first
day starter is toa unless they announced it that way.
If they don't announce it that way, I don't see
that being the case.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
Well, they couldn't announce it now obviously, because you know
they want to create the competition, and I guess you
know Ian Cunningham saying, you know it's in every position,
want to create competition, and you know everybody's competing for their.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
You're saying this because you don't you're not a believer
in Michael Pennix to be the guy. That's That's more
of what this is about. It's J. J. McCarthy.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
It's the JJ McCarthy effect to where it's not just
the performance because they were better with Kirk Cousins a
quarterback than they were Michael Fednix Junior.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
It's also the health.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
He's not not been available and so you've got that
to go along with them, and.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
That's part of his history, like going back, it's part
that's not new. So there's that. Well, but I mean
two isn't the perfect bill of healthy hey, I mean,
if we're doing a comparison here, I mean, if we're
choosing one over the other, I mean, oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
All right, they're like, let's do this. We've got Michael
Pennix tors writ ac in twenty eighteen, twenty twenty. Now
this is his left acl. We we need to have
a longer injury history in our quarterback room. So we're
gonna bring in Tua and he's got a bunch of concussions,
a hip, a tightrope surgery on his ankle. We feel
like we're really checking all the boxes here here in Atlanta.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
So well, there you go, the walk and wound it. Yeah,
but Stefanski can make it work with any quarterback.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
That's true. I am curious obviously that the timetable for
Penic's gonna be back from injury, but also if they
do want to see what they have in him, I
mean he's only got twelve starts. Like just the experience
factor between two and him, I mean to a sort
of seventy six games in his career, at least the
regular season, I including playoffs, which he's got one under
(15:44):
his belt. So it's just a vast, you know, experience
gap between the two, and if Atlanta is out of
the gate saying we want someone who we've been through this,
you know, has been through all this before, you'd think
they'd lean to but it is only a one year deal,
it's not a huge financial commitment, and they took Penix
(16:05):
in the first round. I think there's maybe sionus On
if he's back healthy, to play him and see what
you've got in him before you move on to next
year's draft, where you do have a new front office structure,
you do have a new head coaching staff, and they
might want one of those talented quarterbacks we keep talking about.
So I think both guys will get a shot this year.
I think really what's going to play out is both
(16:27):
will play. It's just a matter of if Penix is
even healthy enough to factor into the equation at the
start of the year, because I think that that experience
gap alone would lead you to think that two is
going to be better adapting to a new system, because
that is what he's got with Stefanska and Tommy Rees
now calling plays, and so you would think the experience
(16:49):
with out weigh that. And then then you add in
the injury, and it's it's probably going to be too
to start the year. But I do think they'll want
to see what they have in Penix.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
I think it's going to be a hard season for
them if this is how they're going into it. If
if it's if it's because they have to, I think
it's different. I think the morale of this team. I
think it's different. If you come in and Pennix is
available to play, but isn't playing if he's not, If
(17:20):
he's not available, I get it, like scratch it from
the record, But if if Pennix is available and can
take snaps and can play, which when when did he
get the injury? Like we're expected at Mahomes back. Wasn't
he earlier than Mahomes? Yeah? Yeah, so he should be
back too, right, they're expecting Mahomes back for the opener, right.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Yeah, but there's no competition for Mahomes, you know.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
Yeah. I mean I would say, I mean, should he
lose his job based upon recovery if he did it
in November. If we're if you're nine months out, six
nine months out from November, what is that? Where's he at?
And he should be dang there like almost on the
(18:08):
other side of of his healing and surgery are rehab
to getting back on the field by now right, it's
March March, so November December.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
I don't know they were torn in a cls. I
don't know why get back out in the field.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
I mean, I feel like at at month five, month five,
he should be like going hard, strengthening and and and
getting like those controlled movements in the rehab facilities, different
things like that month five, month four. Really let me
(18:44):
ask Brady, let me ask you a quarterback question hypothetical.
If you were if you had to choose as a quarterback,
would you choose would you prefer to be in Minnesota
or Atlanta based on what you got to work with.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
M I would probably lean towards Minnesota. I just I
think Justin Jefferson is that good as far as the
weapons they have, I feel like they've yeah, I mean, look,
I don't think there's I mean, Justin Jefferson's probably the
best in the league. So that alone would would kind
(19:19):
of make me lean in that direction, but they're pretty comparable.
I just I think if you look at what Atlanta has,
Drake London's great because he's been young. We'll see how
he continues.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
You know.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Kyle Pitts showed out the second half of last year,
but that was really the bright spot of his entire career.
I'm not sure he can sustain it, you know. And
you got bees on the backfield, which is big. But
if you're just asking me, like who I want to
throw to, like, I mean, Justin Jefferson would be that guy.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Yeah, it's uh, I'm curious to see because Atlanta does
have weapons, and I look at to his opportunity because
he will be the starter when too right.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
And but look he had Tyree Killer throw too, who
arguably was playing at the prime of his So that
was you know. And then look they had a ton
of speed him and Waddle and the rest of some
of the speed they had in Miami and McDaniel's system
like that that played out in a big way. So
I don't know. I mean, I'm not sleeping on Atlanta,
I know that for sure. And by the way, you
deserve great sleep. So visit Mattress from now get three

Some guy who's got body hair that looks like he's
wearing a coat and it's literally just hair, and it
is revolted.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
It's pretty thick.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
I don't know, when you see a guy like that,
do you immediately think like that's a manly man, like
he's able to grow that much hair?
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Like?
Speaker 1 (22:45):
No, do you look at him and say he's closer
to Sasquatch.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
It's definitely some teen wolf. Bye god, I know.
Speaker 6 (22:52):
Can you forward it to me please?
Speaker 1 (22:54):
Great movie?
Speaker 4 (22:55):
Why I am.
Speaker 5 (22:57):
I'm a connoisseur of chest hair. I would like to
see if it's aggressive or if it's taste.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
It's aggressive, Oh my gosh, it's not. It looks like Moss.
Speaker 6 (23:07):
You guys seen the forty year old vision where.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
He gets It's way worse.
Speaker 6 (23:10):
It's worse than that, Okay, way worse.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
Just disgusting anyway.

Speaker 6 (23:34):
So holy biscuits. It's very It can't be real.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
It's just disgusting, really gross. I don't know why. I
know you won't open it, Q, so I've not even
said that you're with Just screenshot, thank you? Yeah, uh yeah,
just screenshot it.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
I mean my kids are at the age where like
they'll be grabbing dad's found and click it on stuff,
and I just don't need for them to pop up,
you know, whatever the hell that we're looking at.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
I thought he was wearing a sweater. It looks that thing.
I thought he was going to zip it off for
two minutes, like I really thought he.
Speaker 6 (24:13):
Was gonna Do you think he conditions it?
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Oh yeah, yeah, oh yeah, there you go. I took
a screenshot and sent it to you. So, but that
is definitely a coat, not even close. It's disgusting. You know,
you gotta stay warm out here. That's a filthy guy. Man,
(24:36):
is he filthy? It's filthy. I don't care. Can you
get lice on body hair like that?
Speaker 9 (24:42):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Yeah yeah, I mean thank you for taking the screen grab.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
Yeah, no worries.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
That is uh that looks like he's like wearing a.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
Shirt, a long sleeve shirt at that though, like that's real.
It's real, bro, that thing is real. Mm hmm. Yeah, well.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
Come part Maybe he's Jonas's arch nemesis that is part wolf.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
It looks like he's part wolf.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Bro.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
Yeah, maybe that's why we got.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
We got ourselves. Uh what Twilight whatever that series is.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
Maybe that's why you got a pulse by him? That
is it? Like there you go something, have a phobea
Jonas or team that guy teen Wolves? Yeah, okay, I
got a real fear for that. What was it? Jacob
versus who Edward?
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Oh God, I'm team Jonas for now, but I could
be bought.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
Patty knew that right away. I have a younger sister
that read Twilight.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
Brother.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
Oh come on, yeah, interesting.
Speaker 6 (25:43):
You got posters of them on their wall, don't you?
Speaker 4 (25:46):
Who? You me? Get yourself up, Patty. I didn't set
myself up then, Yeah you did. Hard one to back
out of too in there, in there?
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Okay, all right, so speaking of soft from that over
to this, yes, speaking of soft, well done. Troy Aikman
was on the Rodeo podcast because of course he was,
and he was talking about his theory as to why,
you know, maybe the current NFL with the injuries running rampant,
(26:21):
especially early in the season, might have had something to
do with the way things have changed from a practice
standpoint in the off season.
Speaker 10 (26:28):
Whenever they negotiate the CBA, the owners tend to always
win on the financial side of things, and then the
players say, well, all right, then then we're not going
to practice as long or we're not going to practice
as often. So then they tend to get concessions when
it comes to how much time they're actually at facilities.
(26:48):
And I think the only ones who don't have a
voice in those negotiations are the coaches.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
You know, I kind of.
Speaker 10 (26:53):
Have to wait till the day they say, all right,
just how often do we get them? But some of
it is too that we see is a lot of
the reasons I think that we see so many injuries,
especially early in the year, is a lot of soft
tissue injuries, a lot of muscle pulls and things of
that nature. Is the players they're just not able to
(27:14):
train the way that that we once did, and you know,
they're not able to call us their bodies as as easily.
And then you get and that doesn't not that not
that they're not training hard and all that, but it's
different training on your own as opposed to then all
of a sudden you're on the football field going through
(27:34):
football movements. It taxes you a little bit more.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
So take that Pete Prisco who says the players trained
too much now and that's why it's leading to injuries.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
All right, So so.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
Chew on that Prisco because apparently they're not they're not
practicing enough in training camp.
Speaker 4 (27:48):
According to Troy Aikman, I think there's differences. I think
what Pete is saying is is correct. I mean, guys
don't give theirselves much time to rest their body anymore.
It's like workout culture is a very real thing. Specified
specific training is a very very real thing. Not just
(28:10):
for quarterbacks, it's it's for every position. And and you're
doing these training sessions you know, when you can when
you're not in session as a pro or while you're
in college. I mean, these guys are actually going out
on their own time and finding the time to work
with you know, personal and private coaches and different you know,
(28:33):
different sessions. So I think there's something to that. I
think what Pete said there's something to that. But I
think there's also something to be said about practicing hard
and I believe that that's what what Troy is alluding
to here is practicing hard. You don't practice as hard
as much anymore. And I I mean I tend to
(28:54):
lean on the side of if you're if you're not
having full contact at least thudding up or engaging and
disengaging of blocks and different things like that, then you're
setting your you're setting yourself up for injuries because your
body is not They always say, you can't prepare yourself
(29:17):
for four quarters of football unless you're playing four quarters
of football. And so the closest you can get to
it is when you have those those practices where you
do to periods where you're having physical contact, the nine
on sevens, that the half lines, the you know, different
things like that where where contact is a part of
(29:40):
your practice. I think that they've legislated or kind of
just kind of work that out, work that aspect out
of it. You're more you're more in tune to wanting
to see your your guys be healthy coming through practices
and coming through training camps. In many camps and OTAs,
rather than having moments where guys are actually putting their
(30:02):
pads on one another to get their reps in I.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Think it's such a tough discussion or like argument to
make because to your point, like the business aspect of
things is, guys will get fired if guys are getting
hurt practicing right if it's not for the real thing.
So you can wrap them up in bubble wrap and
do a bunch of walkthroughs, not do anything where there's
contact full speed, just to say, hey, we got to
the games healthy. But is that really what prepares them
(30:27):
best for that? And you know, I look at like
the callous on your hands. You know when when you're
a heavy weightlifter, if you work with your hands a
lot and a lot of physical labor, it's like you
have to go through you know, usually ripping up your
the palms or hands in order to get there to
build up that callous. And there is an element of that.
I think if you look at like offensive line defensive line,
(30:49):
plate like they've got to prepare themselves and there's really
no substitute for it. It's it's one of the reasons
why I kind of hate these seven on seven leagues
because it perpetuates this idea that you're practicing football when
really you're not. You're not teaching a quarterback, how to
navigate a pocket with a rush for we're gonna get hit,
(31:10):
because that, ultimately is the thing that deters you from
holding on the football longer, is you're going to get smacked.
And then there's the element of receivers who aren't subject
to getting absolutely crushed going for a contesta ball across
the middle. Now there's some protections to that anyway, But
I just I look at, you know, some of the
(31:30):
things that have how we go about practicing the game,
and you look at why some of the injuries are happening.
It's like, well, yeah, we're not preparing them for those scenarios,
like what it's actually like to go across the middle
when there's guys and pads on that can hit you
and take your head off, you know, or even even
you know, get that rib shot on you, which is
one hundred percent legal. Now. So it's a tough conversation.
(31:51):
I mean, I look at it and say, is there
some truth to what he's saying? Of course, Like you know,
there's teams that I think they would say that they're
better prepared for the physicality of how they're going to
play in their season because of how they you know, practice,
how they prepare them throughout the course of the off season.
But I think what the bigger thing that he points
out is the owners and where they win. They win
(32:13):
a very specific way from a business standpoint, to keep
getting a greater cut of the revenue share or keep
getting things that matter from a bottom line in business,
when meanwhile, the NFL Players Union is pushing for things
that the owners don't care about, Like do they really
care that much when they start their offseason that doesn't
(32:35):
hurt the owner's bottom line, that doesn't put that in jeopardy.
So a lot of the things that the players have
pushed for in their collective bargain agreement these negotiations are
things owners like, Oh, okay, you know you want to
hit as much. Okay, great, don't hit as much, you
don't want to practice as much, okay, take more time
in the off season. You know, we're gonna get more
(32:55):
of this back and we're gonna cut off this, this
and this. But yeah, you can go ahead and do
that your practice. You know that's great, Like they don't care.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
Yeah, well I do what I care about, and it's
the NCAA Tournament, Because guys, look what I got here.
Speaker 4 (33:12):

different browser to use for.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
It, but golly yeah, yeah, it gets a little tricky

Speaker 3 (35:27):
First, Jonas, it's the NBA on NBC, and then.
Speaker 4 (35:35):
They pan over to Marv Albert. Welcome in live from
Salt Lake City. I'm Marv Albert. Michael Jordan has on
his New Jay's Today twenty minutes earlier, I been a
woman and she screamed. She said it's good yes and
(35:55):
counts yes, yes that I love Marv Albert. But he
did bite a woman. He did bite her. Yeah, and
and and live to continue to call games. That was
imagine if me too had was going on. But that
was back when forgiveness was a thing.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
You know, I've got a buddy who every time we're
with him and he sees an attractive woman, he just
does the Marv Albert just yes, suddenly letting everyone know
there's there's an attractive woman around. It's great. You hear that.
Speaker 4 (36:38):
Everybody's hands start turning.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Or you'll be randomly, you know, working on a working
on a Monday, and you just get a voice note.
He just goes, yes, that's so good.
Speaker 4 (36:53):
That's creative. That's good, Bros.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
From the rest, it's so good.

ants and drawers down around his ankle.

Bracket now and until Thursday morning before the games begin.
Visit Foxsports Radio dot com to register, to get rules
and to fill out your bracket. It's all presented by
Weebel Trading and Investing, built for you. I think Duke
got the shaft. The more I'm looking at this, I
don't know, Nasty, what would be the what would be
(38:42):
the perks that come along with the number one overall
seed when you end up in the region that they've got.
When you've got Kansas, who's probably got the best player
in college bass, or at least you know, the highest
rated NBA prospect, You've got that. You've also got Yukon
(39:04):
championship pedigree there, You've got Michigan State. You just look
at the coaches that Duke's gonna have to go against,
whether it's Tom Izzo or Rick Patino, whether it's Dan Hurley,
it just feels like even Bill Salva Kansas obviously, it
just feels like this is by far and away the
most difficult region of the tournament.
Speaker 4 (39:26):
And so.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
If they were to survive and get through that, I
could understand why they would be the odds on favorite
to win it all. But that's going to be a
tall task considering who they've got to face all the
way throughout that region.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
Yeah, we kind of talked about it to open up
the show. It's just a tough drawl for a team
that's the number one overall seed. And I understand this,
there's somewhat regionality that plays a role in this, but
just to think, I mean again, you could be facing
Ohio State's all time league scorer with Bryce Thorton Junior.
I mean, he's a heck of a player. If Ohio
State beats TCU, Saint John's would be most likely the
(40:02):
team you'd be playing, you know, following that, depending on
the winner between them and Kansas, although again it could
be Kansas. It's just you're talking about about of somewhat
blue bloods that you'd be going through. One cool story.
I'm not sure if you guys have followed Brian Hutchins.
He's the head coach at South Florida. It's pretty neat.
His dad's battling dementia and he's never been able to
(40:26):
go watch him coach. And he's gonna be able to
make it because obviously they're in the East Region, so
he's gonna be close enough. You know, it's close to
his hometown. I believe they're playing in Buffalo to be
able to go watch them for the first time. So
there's all kinds of cool stories they come along with
their tournament. But you know it's gonna be fun to watch.
I mean that Louisville game would be a good matchup
two versus USF probably one of the better matchups in
(40:46):
that region.
Speaker 4 (40:48):
I'm excited to see what Arizona does, obviously being a
big tenor. I'm excited to see what Michigan does, see
how they do it. But I mean, the wind blows
highest at the top of the flag pole and they
got you know, Duke got a tough draw. But I
think they're built to be able to make this run.
I think it's a It's a team that's shown all year.
(41:09):
They're resilient, they find ways to make the big plays.
They're not afraid of the big games. They got. They
have big game experience going into this, and there's a
level of This is always a discussion point, but it's
there's a level of maturity that's there for for this
(41:31):
team as well, especially you know, with with the idea
of having leadership from you know, the Boozer Twins. So
I just I look at it. I look at it.
I say that this this is a team that that
has the pedigree of carrying that that torch for for
the Duke Blue Devils, and it'll be interesting to see
(41:52):
if they can indeed, uh live up to the hype.
I mean, and I wouldn't say it's all. I wouldn't
say it's hype. I would I would certainly say they
are deserving of the attention that they have received heading
into it. Tough draw or not, I think that this
team is built to make that run. There's also the
element of.
Speaker 3 (42:13):
They should have won that game against Houston in the
Final four last year.
Speaker 4 (42:17):
They really gagged it away.
Speaker 3 (42:19):
And I wonder if there's not to say that there
isn't always some element of pressure in this tournament for everybody.
But I do wonder if you know, you get into
a late game situation or if a game's tight, and
if there's any any thought in John Shire's head of hey,
we were here last year with the best player in
(42:40):
college basketball, and we weren't able to pull through last year.
I mean, Houston had no business winning that game last year.
And you know, there was some questionable calls and all that,
But I do wonder how much of that, you know,
could could impact their performance this year. I also wonder,
did you see the you mentioned Michigan. Did you see
the JJ mc carthy was at the Michigan Purdue Big
(43:02):
Ten championship game? So I guess he posted some video
that he was at the game there and once Michigan lost,
it might have been Barstool Sports.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
Photoshopped a picture of.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
JJ McCarthy walking into the locker room wearing number nine.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
That it was Barstool. By the way, he's just.
Speaker 4 (43:26):
Never going to live that down. That's never. That's why
I said, we were kicking it around last week.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
What's the solution for JJ McCarthy's got to change numbers,
chase his numbers.
Speaker 4 (43:34):
He's got to change numbers, got to get away.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
Change team changes, or we have to do something so
drastic with his hair. People were like, what wait, what,
why'd you do that.
Speaker 4 (43:44):
From the nine?
Speaker 1 (43:45):
Yeah, it's like he's he's literally got to create a
diversion or distraction that makes people so caught off guard,
like that goes viral. It like keeps it away from
the number nine thing, where like something else goes viral
and then he's.
Speaker 4 (43:59):
No kind of for that or just make some more plays.
You know.
Speaker 1 (44:05):
You're right, I mean, will we get the opportunity though.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
With yeah, probably not that probably won't be the case.
But yeah, so how do you guys?
Speaker 3 (44:17):
Because I was warnering about this with Miami of Ohio
because there was the big conversation about whether or not
they would get in, and I thought it was ridiculous
that they would get in. But I did wonder if
they were going to be thrown in to the playing
games because because of the story and I know that
you know, this is about you know, it's about what
happens on the floor, and it's about best team should
(44:39):
move on, et cetera, et cetera. But storylines help every
sporting event going into it is from a discussion from
an interest standpoint, just for more of a casual fan,
the fact that you are going to get Miami of
Ohio in Dayton in a playing game, I do feel
like eyeballs are going to be on that game because
everybody one side of the fence or the other they belong.
Speaker 4 (45:00):
They don't belong.
Speaker 3 (45:02):
You're gonna be able to see it in a standalone
situation coming up on Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (45:07):
So I do feel like that is kind of a
benefit to that.
Speaker 1 (45:09):
Today it's gonna be like a home game. It's forty
two miles away from Oxford Daane University is so it
should be an awesome atmosphere if it's anywhere close to
what they've been able to replicate during the course of
the regular season, where they've had some sellout crowds. You've
seen Ron Harper there. You know, they're kind of bring
(45:29):
out the celebs, like it should be an awesome environment
in Dayton for that game. And and look, I'll say this,
I was talking with someone, one of my buddies who
went to my Ohio and I just kind of recalled
when we were young, like when you watched Wally play
on that team. You know, he carried them, but he
looked like an NBA player, Like you were watching him
going that dude's gonna be playing in the NBA someday.
(45:52):
I don't know that. I watched that team and feel
the same way about these players. They're a good team.
I'm not taking anything away from what they've accomplished, but
you don't look at them with that same sort of
star power where you go, you know he can carry them.
Like we talked about a cuff for Arkansas, Like as
good as Arkansas is around him, like that dude can
(46:14):
carry them to a Final four. He's that talented of
a player. I don't know that they have anyone like that.
So they they're much more reliant on playing within the margins.
And I think we saw that play out this year
where they won the vast majority of them. However, they
end up slipping up versus UMass, a team who they
had no business losing to. And I remember, I actually,
(46:34):
I'll be honest, I've turned off the game with eight
minutes left. They're up eight or nine points in that game.
I'm like, all right, they've got this covered, you know,
they should move on, and sure enough, they end up
gagging away in the end. So that's the problem with
this team is I don't know that they've got a
guy that you can truly rely on, you know. I
think they've got to play an entire team game and win,
(46:55):
you know, win the turnover margin, you know, be shooting
well from threes, hit hit your free throw. It's like
stay out of foul trouble. Like, I don't think they
have enough depth either to be able to support them
and trying to make a run. They've got to be
like one of those lights out shooting teams we see
through the rest of the tournament.
Speaker 3 (47:10):
Seven and a half point underdogs against SMU on Wednesday. Well, Miami,
they're you guys could go up top.
Speaker 4 (47:18):
They're they're top. Three guys are up top guys. Come on, man,
come on, so and and they're averaging two of them
are averaging fourteen while the third is averaging thirteen. You
got shooter and buyers are are averaging they'll give you fourteen.
They'll I mean, they're moderate on his sister, moderate on steals.
(47:42):
As as q's mentioning, they're they're not you know, they're
not a column They're not they're not stat column warriors.
Speaker 1 (47:51):
They have to sugarcoat it.
Speaker 4 (47:53):
They're not that good.
Speaker 1 (47:55):
I mean, you understand why there is the concern about
them getting in because everyone's watching it going it's a
great season.
Speaker 4 (48:03):
But yeah, it doesn't look like match up wise, they
match up well, that is what I would say, So
don't I wouldn't be surprised if they're they're out pretty.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
Quickly, second in the country and scoring all right, averaging
almost ninety one points a game.
Speaker 1 (48:21):
Well, you got to look at defense. How many they
give up?
Speaker 4 (48:24):
Listen, don't get caught up in the weeds here.
Speaker 3 (48:27):
Now, there was the discussion Keith Gill, who was on
the Post Bracket Reveal, discussed discussing the just.
Speaker 4 (48:37):
Watched the guy run into a light pole really like
for real time, Like I was.
Speaker 1 (48:43):
Just pulled up and clipped that light pole.
Speaker 4 (48:46):
Oh yeah, alright, do any damage?
Speaker 3 (48:49):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (48:49):
Waiting? Yeah, I mean probably to his front right bumper.
I'm waiting for him to get out of the car.
Should back up, I mean, it's.
Speaker 4 (48:56):
Back it up? Man, No, he's all right, just left
it there.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
Yep, he's just he's good. He's looking at assessing the
damage and he's out of there.
Speaker 4 (49:06):
Wow, that's the a rental car. Oh yeah, matre Reynolds. Differently, Hey,
let the insurance to handle it.
Speaker 1 (49:14):
He's hurrying though. It looks like he's in a hurry.
Speaker 3 (49:16):
So it's a rough way to start your Monday. Well
as far I mean, now that his car is injured,
he'll probably be interested in this. Because this was the
discussion and some of the conversation from NCAA Selection Committee
chairman Keith Gill, who was on CBS discussing how injuries
played into some of the bracket and the way it
(49:37):
was put together.
Speaker 11 (49:38):
We spent a lot of time obviously talking about Caleb Wilson,
and that certainly impact impacted the way we thought about
North Carolina.
Speaker 4 (49:45):
I would say the same with JT.
Speaker 1 (49:47):
Topping.
Speaker 11 (49:48):
We actually talked about kind of Duke and kind of
some of the injuries that they're going through and just
noted they're going to be closer to full strength as
they get closer to the NCAA tournament.
Speaker 4 (49:58):
So I do think injury this big theme.
Speaker 11 (50:00):
Player availability a big theme, and that dominated a lot
of our conversation as a committee.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
So as teams are getting healthier, they're sort of forecasting
where they would be viewed or where they would be
placed in the tournament, which I'm never and I know
what happens in college football, And you can go back
to was a Jordan Travis from Florida State and you know,
part of the reason why they didn't get in because.
Speaker 4 (50:25):
He wasn't healthy.
Speaker 3 (50:26):
But I don't know how you project if a guy's
coming back from injury, they're just going to automatically be
a better team without him. Who knows, maybe they found
a rhythm without that player. That's been missing, maybe they
found and so the idea that you would sort of.
Speaker 4 (50:42):
It's a hypothetical and that's the reality of it. There's
I mean, there's no way to dance around it. You're
making a decision and an assessment based off of projecting
what could potentially be, which I'm sure some people fall
on the side of agreeing with that and feel confident
about it, while others feel as though that's it's not
(51:05):
not a fair way of going about doing it, you know,
and they would probably most likely have a good argument
to support reasons why they wouldn't support basing what you're
doing off of a team air quotes getting healthy. I mean,
what if that guy, what if those guys you're basing
(51:25):
the ranking and the seating off of, you know, re
injures themselves immediately upon the start of the game, or
just doesn't make it into the game, even though it
appeared that they were going to make it, Like you
just got to live with it. Just seems strange to me,
like if a team accomplishes, reward them based off of
(51:45):
the accomplishment. If you're not going to reward them off
of the accomplishment, then you kind of go back to
what Pearl was talking about, and you look at the
record that they have based off of the type of
teams that they played, but you're keeping smaller teams from
having a fair opportunity to get in or get a
decent seat. So I don't I just think it's a
large conversation that's hard to debate.
Speaker 1 (52:08):
Give me an upset. Come on, boys, we got to
pick one, Like pick your team, pick your first round,
like yeah, and don't give you an eight to nine pick,
you know, give me something good.
Speaker 4 (52:20):
Well, I'm just gonna go to the five twelves.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
Uh, you better not pick my team, my high point team,
you better not pick them.
Speaker 3 (52:28):
To pick them, by the way, also a high scoring team,
they're averaging game.
Speaker 1 (52:33):
You get after it.
Speaker 4 (52:36):
Oh god, I don't like any of the.
Speaker 1 (52:39):
And I could pick Akron Max a two big conference,
now that's what that's what they're saying. They're making t shirts.
Speaker 4 (52:48):
Maybe McNeese over Vanderbilt, maybe maybe BCU, but I don't.
Speaker 3 (52:56):
I don't like Northern because I think Saint John's uh
I got them winning a couple of games, so I
really need them to stick around, especially early on because
I love Patinos so much, because he also looks somewhat
like a vampire.
Speaker 4 (53:13):
So there's that, but he really does.
Speaker 1 (53:16):
I mean, you could pick Hawaii versus Arkansas, but I
noticed you're kind of skirting that pick.
Speaker 3 (53:21):
Oh you know, I was going to bring this up.
So Aaron Torre's Fox Sports radio host here, who knows
college hoops better than anybody in the business, he pointed
something out when it came up to coach cal and
we were kind of goofing and joking a little bit
earlier about you know, him winning the SEC title and
all that stuff and being celebrated and whatnot. Torres pointed
(53:41):
this out. Arkansas played on Sunday, They're flying cross country
to play on Thursday, and if they advanced to the
next week and have to fly back to the West
Coast for the second.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
Weekend, it's not a great bid for coach cal It's
not in that respect.
Speaker 4 (53:56):
Yeah, So I don't think.
Speaker 3 (53:58):
I don't think that's going to be a a deep
run this year for John Calipari. But the idea that
Kentucky fans still look at it as success for US
would be going further than than Arkansas does because of
coach cow I think is that that is college sports
and college fandom to a t right there that you
(54:20):
just makes.
Speaker 1 (54:21):
A great thing. I'm not sure. I'm not sure why
you're you know, trying to. I think it's the K
fan base.
Speaker 4 (54:27):
I think it. I think it's great. I just think
it's you're gonna you've really lost, you've.
Speaker 3 (54:36):
Really lost sight of the you know, the whole goal,
which is, you know, to win a win another championship.
If now you're just saying, hey, forget that, like, let's
focus on the task at hand here. We cannot do
worse than John Calipari moving forward.
Speaker 1 (54:49):
What's interesting though, is this has been kind of John
Calipari's achilles he at least during his time when it
was that uk at the end. And it's it's odd
to me that like competing fan bases will, they'll throw
away the rest of the season and they'll look at
the tournament finish to basically determine like who had the
better year when this format we keep talking about it
(55:11):
for Duke, it hasn't really been set up for the
number one overall seed for success given their side of
the bracket. But just in reality, it's like, all right,
they gotta have a great regular season. None of that matters.
If you don't do well in the tournament, you get
basically fired for that. It's the oddest thing for me
in a sport that plays enough games where you're awarding
like a team for the regular season, you know, championship,
(55:33):
then there's the conference tournament. There's everything that comes along
with it. But then you it's like coaches will get
fired if they don't do well enough. By the way,
my pick is Akron. I'm taking Akron over Texas Tech.
I get it. You got all the old oil money,
Cody Campbell, everything else that goes along with it. Give
me the Zips baby upset in Texas Tech and just
like the Red Raiders in the College Football Playoff getting
(55:56):
bounced by Oregon in their first game, I've got Achron.
It's in out Texas, Texas.
Speaker 6 (56:03):
Whens, Whens.
Speaker 5 (56:06):
I would have hit your drop, Jonas, but you didn't
sound very confident in your pick.
Speaker 3 (56:10):
Still trying to formulate my but naked on on cues.
Speaker 1 (56:15):
That's right, we're letting it all hang out with y'all here,
he asks.
Speaker 4 (56:21):
I'm going with v cu Man. I threw it out there.
They got Carolina. I'm gonna get y'all a second one too,
Santa Clara against Yeah, upsets, don't be surprised that Santa
Clara is advancing, just because it's more about Kentucky than
(56:46):
it is about Santa Clara. But VCU is a good
team and they historically do pretty well in the tournament.
Speaker 3 (56:52):
So the team to watch for I'm trying to see.
Uh So, Texas Tech is currently a seven and a
half point favorite. I think that's the shortest line on
a twelve five, So that you might have something there,
Brady that might be well.
Speaker 1 (57:06):
I mean some of us have were prepared for this moment.
Speaker 4 (57:10):
You know, Jonas, I can't do an eight nine. Who
are you looking at?
Speaker 1 (57:15):
Nine?
Speaker 4 (57:15):
Come on, who are you looking at? Jonas? Us to
go well, now that I can't do an eight nine
is an upset?
Speaker 1 (57:22):
Okay, who would have you picked if it wasn't eight nine?
Speaker 3 (57:26):
Probably I would say VCU is a sneaky against North
Carolina because they mentioned it and Keith Gill mentioned it
with the injury, so I would say that.
Speaker 4 (57:39):
But that's nothing, You're just going to jump off. It's
not even step over top of mine.
Speaker 3 (57:43):
But it's not even that big of an upset because
it's an upset in North Carolina is a two and
a half point favorite. That's a big upset, Okay, I mean,
but you know, the betting odds would say it's not
that big of an upset.
Speaker 4 (57:55):
So six versus eleven.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
From a seating from a seat standpoint, but from a
betting standpoint, it's not that big of an upset.
Speaker 4 (58:03):
Yeah, but the seedings take precedence over the betting. If
you're seeded eleventh versus a six, that six should clearly
have a superior more of an opportunity to win that game.
We will see. I mean, but I took VCU to
win that game. So there you go. That's my that's
(58:24):
my upset the Rams.
Speaker 3 (58:26):
