which we brought up before we went to break last Hour,
does anybody watch that still or are you planning to
watch it during the entire course of the show this
year with the Seattle Seahawks, anybody?

I think that.

I think the tough part for those shows now are
the best pieces usually get put out on social media,
so you really never need to watch.

You know, it's not like it's.

Telling a story necessarily right, because the ending of this
particular story it doesn't happen till the season actually starts,
so that we're only getting training camp and cuts aren't
what they used to be. They don't show cuts like
they used to, so it's not as as dramatic or
it's not as good as is what the product once was.
So I just there's not as much of a desire

for me, at least to watch that anymore.

Again, you'll you see most of the best parts on
social media.

what's it called again? Inside the NFL Hard Knocks? Oh, yeah,
Hard Knocks, Yeah, I don't watch it. I don't watch
that one either.

I was out when I found out that the Bears
ownership a couple of years ago told the players and
the coaches they weren't allowed to curse, they weren't allowed
to show cursing on on television during the show. And
I thought, all right, so this whole thing is manufactured then,
all right, so this is just gonna be They're gonna
throw out a bunch of garbage and people are just gonna,

you know, be watching it for whatever they're like, there's
so many other reality shows that feel more real, like
the Quarterback Wide Receiver.

A second, Hold on a second. It's all manufactured.

It's all TV.

I mean, even to your point, the Netflix Quarterback Wide Receiver.
I mean, they all are portrayed in a certain light,
and they don't always get Sometimes they get the control
to do it, sometimes they don't. But I would imagine,
like in the case of both Hard Knocks and Netflix,
you don't get access unless those guys dictate and they
get to say like, yeah, you're not gonna show me

doing this, You're not gonna show me doing that. I mean,
do you feel like even in the Netflix Quarterback series,
have they ever portrayed a quarterback in a negative way
outside of outside of if things haven't worked out for
playing standpoint, which they could control that to a certain degree, but.

Better yet, when does the one that actually matter come out?

A couple interesting things to point out about this.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Indiana got fourteen first place vote, which is actually second
to Ohio State, who got thirty.
Speaker 6 (08:03):
Eight, and they are in the number one spot.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
And somehow they're at sixth now I don't know how
the math maths six Yes, oh wow, the defending national
champions got again the second most and by.
Speaker 6 (08:18):
The way, by kind of a wide margin.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Like the third team in regards to first place vote
spot from the coach's pool was Georgia was seven and
they were ranked third. So I'm like, I kind of
want to see the detailed list of votes as far
as points and just how they constructed this because it
feels like it doesn't make a ton of sense, like
Notre Dame only got five, Texts only got two, but
(08:41):
they're both ranked ahead of Indiana at four and five, respectively.

So it's a bit bizarre the ranking system.
Speaker 6 (08:49):
But I would I would say this.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
If I was saying right now, if you're a Betty
man who has a chance to win the national championship,
and I think this is at least in my mind
for the most part, has played.
Speaker 7 (09:01):
Out to some degree over the last few years. It's
the top seven teams.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
You probaly all seven of those top teams, like, that's
who's gonna win a national championship.
Speaker 6 (09:10):
I would be willing to bet.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
And I just I feel like there's a disparity between
some of the haves that have nots, the spenders, you know,
the teams that aren't necessarily in transition. You know, you
look at every single one of those teams. There wasn't
a change ahead coach. All right, there's stability there. What
about the quarterback position, Well, you could make the same
case there with the exception of two of those teams
(09:34):
that are ranked six and seven. That's Indiana, Miami, but
Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, Texas, Notre Dame. They all have
starting quarterbacks who are coming back after starting last year
and proving out to be pretty damn good. And in
the case of Indiana and Miami, they have guys who've
got starting quarterback experience. Josh Hoover from TCU to Indiana's
played a lot of football. Darien Mensa from Duke to
(09:55):
Miami a lot of football who was at Tallane before that.
Starting differences, they're just changing with the program. But there
are some commonalities amongst the teams that I think we
all feel good about going into the season, and they're
all teams with quarterbacks and guys who have had a
lot of experience. You could even extrapolay and keep going
out like Texas A and m Marcel Reed Oklahoma. John Matier
(10:17):
at number ten is old Miss Trinidad shobless, Like all
those teams have quarterbacks who have prior starting experience, and
we look at them then we feel like they're a
safe bet to be one of the top teams in
the country.
Speaker 7 (10:28):
And you wouldn't be wrong.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
I mean, when you talk to these coaches and these teams,
when you go to different media days, they all talk
about it. I don't care if you're a defensive minded
head coach offensive minded. They're like, we feel like we
got a guy, and that's what probably has been the
missing link for some of these programs.
Speaker 6 (10:45):
And that's where I'm.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Curious to see Penn State, LeVar, who's ranked seventeenth in
this pool. I really think people are underestimating what they're
going to do this year. I think there'll be a
team that's gonna win ten games, and they've got a
lot of guys coming in from Iowa State who can
immediately bring that foundation and culture to Penn State and
make them competitive right away, especially with Roco back to quarterback.
Speaker 6 (11:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
I like Rocco. He can play, He's proven he can play.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
And I like the guys that they brought in from
from Iowa State and a couple other places, brought in
a defensive end from Colorado. I like them being ranked seventeenth.
I like them being at that place. They got a
favorable schedule that plays in their favor. And you know,
when I look at I get an opportunity to get
(11:35):
an inside, you know, deal on it, not only as
a former player that's very involved with the program. I
mean I talked to coach Campbell. You know quite a bit,
but I get it from the player perspective too, because
because my son is on the team. So just hearing
the way the energy shift has taken place. Again, sometimes
(11:57):
you don't really know what type of relationship you're in
until you get out of it. And I think that what.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
Tell me about it? Well, what you reference, you get
it off your chest. Okay, I could dig it.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
But these guys seemed to be The guys that stayed
seemed to be rejuvenated, seemed to be excited and pumped
up about everything. The guys who came in seemed to
be excited because of the opportunity to play at what
they would say is in a bigger school, a bigger
a bigger opportunity. It just seems like a group that
(12:36):
is very excited about what the opportunities are. And it
just didn't really feel so much like that last season.
It really didn't. It almost had like the feeling of
just a whole lot of different pieces going in different directions,
and it was a matter of who was influential in
(12:58):
those directions, whether it was a co which, whether it
was a teammate. It just wasn't cohesive. It just seems
like the conversations, the energy, the leadership. It just seems
very very cohesive. And I'll say this, Mitt Campbell has
done the one thing that I felt like, you know,
(13:19):
Bill O'Brien failed at doing, James Franklin failed at doing,
which was which I don't understand it at all. But
Mitt Campbell has gone out of his way to welcome
back the Letterman and the All Americans and the players
who came before. You know, the guys are there now,
(13:41):
and it's been a great response. They've been very responsive.
I mean, I hadn't seen Carrie Collins in Forever, hadn't
seen Kyle Brady and forever to see Kyle Brady and Kei,
Johnna Carter and Jared Vicious and all those guys on
campus at the same time. Walking through the facilities and
(14:02):
stuff like that, you can tell there's a different feeling,
a different energy that's in the air. And it's including
the tradition like it was a hard time. So I
don't I don't fault Franklin for trying to kind of
put the drama in the back, in the rear view
so that you can kind of build for the future.
(14:23):
It almost was a coping mechanism for him to be
able to pull the program forward. So I don't I
don't have any you know, harsh Ill Will feeling sources.
In fact, he was my guy. But it does feel different.
It does have a feeling of family, more family oriented,
more open, and guys feel more comfortable and confident coming back.
(14:47):
And I think that that's going to pay it play
a major part and why this team is able to
kind of progress and be better moving forward.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
That's kind of an odd thing, though, that he would
not welcome the idea of some of the legends being
brought back or at least make that a focal point.
Like the fact that Matt Campbell did that one little
thing and it's changed the vibe.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
It's kind of odd that Franklin would.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
It's a tad bit more complex because of the whole way,
you know, things happened with Joe and so it was
kind of like there was there was some complexities there,
and I think that, you know, coach Franklin was trying
to win, not not trying to play the political game
that everybody was trying to turn it into. So I
(15:29):
don't want to get too deep off into that. I mean,
I'm glad that they're ranked pretty high, and and and yes,
people are are very excited about Matt Campbell and him
being the head coach moving forward.
Speaker 5 (15:39):
It's they were ranked second in the preseason a peopole
last year. If you would have if we would have
had that conversation, and I would have said, hey, by
about what mid October James Franklin, James Franklin's going to
be fired? Nobody would have thought so. No, like just
and you go back to the a people from last year.
Texas was one, Penn State was too, some was four,
(16:01):
like nowhere close to and based on everything we say,
kid Klubnik was considered a Heisman Trophy one of the
Heisman Trophy favorites. It just that's why I always take
these preseason polls with a grain of salt to where
I just don't know what you really get from them.
But Brady did offer something up and I would like
(16:23):
to give him the opportunity.

You said, if you had to right now, you could
probably what guess, if you had to pick five teams,
one of those five would win the.
Speaker 7 (16:34):
Next seven the top seven teams.

All right, So I'm going to teach you a little
trick to teach you.

This is what I do.
Speaker 5 (16:43):
When it comes to horse racing, all right, some people
just wait for the horse to be covered with a
sheet afterwards, and then you know they they're looking for that.
Speaker 6 (16:51):
Not me.

I would never be that person, but some people do.
Speaker 5 (16:54):
And then when it comes to roulette, some people like
to play a color a number.

Here's how you do it.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
You play a bunch of numbers on the inside, and
you take a profit if you win on roulette. And
with horse racing, I don't just pick a winner. I'll
pick three or four and hope that one of those
long shots win and I make a little bit of
money there. So what would be these seven teams if
you are looking at college football right now to win
a national title? That would be the most likely in
(17:21):
your mind, Brady, if you had to pick right now, Well.
Speaker 7 (17:24):
Like I've said now multiple times, the top seven.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
In this coach's poll, if we parlayed those, those would
be the most likely.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
Okay, twins wins, yes, the board.
Speaker 7 (17:39):
Man, all right, let's go back over this again.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
So one of the reasons why every single one of
those teams are looked at all right, why they're the
top seven ranked, and six of the seven Witch got
first place. It was because they all have returning head coaches.
They're not programs that had to make a transition.
Speaker 6 (17:56):
They're old.
Speaker 7 (17:57):
Miss for example, would be one of those. Even though
Pete Golding was.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
There and they elevated him and he coached a little
bit last postseason, still a new head coach, we still
don't really know what we're getting in him. For example,
Lane Kiffin at thirteen coming into LSU talented roster, but
they have a quarterback who's got some experience. So anytime
there's not consistency, there's not already a foundation there, it
makes a little harder to be able to overcome that.
(18:21):
And then again, the other piece of this is quarterbacks
who've got prior starting experience. Julians Santa Ohio State, Dante
Morid Oregon, Hunter Stockton at Georgia, Gunner Stockton at George
excuse me, arch Manning at Texas CJ card tore Dame
Hoover's got prior experience, but he did transfer and mensa
prior experience, but to transfer.
Speaker 6 (18:41):
Those seven teams.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Are by far and away the most highly touted based
on their blue chip ratio, have stability with the head
coach who's now been there as well. And then when
you look at the quarterback position, in five of the
seven cases, guys who started there have been there. In
two of those other cases, the guys who've played a
lot of football but are transferring in. But we've seen that,
you know, work with Indiana for example, with Fernanda Mendoza.
(19:06):
So again, those seven, to me, there's a big separation
with really the rest of college football.
Speaker 5 (19:13):
That's way too many teams for me to make money
on this, because if I'm putting money on all these teams,
if Ohio State or Notre Dame or even Texas hit,
I'm not making much of a profit. Especially if Ohio
State or Notre Dame hit. If I'm going one hundred
bucks on each, you know I'm gonna end up losing
money on all this. Like I need, I need at
least one long shot to make this worth my whiles.
(19:35):
Why can't you tell us the number why Ohio States
is six to one, So here's that works. Ohio States
is six to one. Notre Dame's a plus six fifty.
I'm doing seven teams, so I need somebody that's got
greater than seven to one odds to win. In order
for me to make some sort of a profit on this.
If I'm betting seven teams to win the whole thing,
(19:56):
I just need one of those to hit. If Ohio
State or Notre Dame hits, I'm gonna lose money because
they're less than seven to one odds.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
So why don't you bet against one of oh seven
teams to not.
Speaker 7 (20:08):
You actually would take the opposite of eye.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
I'm not listening. I'm I don't like to fade things.
I'm not a negative person. If you guys want to
swim in that side of the pool, that's fine, and
I like to be positive here college football.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
And the other thing is you just wouldn't parlay them.
You would just make each individual bets.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
Yes, that's what I'm saying. I'm not parlaying anything each.
You can't parlay in one national champion like what you're
hoping for two national odds up.
Speaker 6 (20:32):
Yeah, you can probably find that a calshier polymarket.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
You probably can't.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
And anybody that's doing that should reevaluate things because they're
they're stealing money.
Speaker 6 (20:39):
Five.

Did you see there was a congressional member who bet
on his presence? Oh yeah, yeah, you see that. I
believe you bet edy he won like fourteen thousand dollars.
He got fined and had to give it all back
because it was like, all right, this is getting out
of hand.

Now, yeah, I think it's And by the way, I
did want to correct myself yesterday, I think I said
Ted Cruz was the politician who loved college football. Was
Marco Rubio who said that if his ultimate goal would
be to sit and watch because I think his son
is a red red shirt player on the red shirt
running back for Florida. If I'm not mistaken, I think
(21:21):
I think that's what I saw. So listen, it's right
around the corner and we'll get to see how it
all plays out. By the way, should be pointed out,
Hawaii did receive.

A vote in the Coaches Bowl. No, they did.
Speaker 5 (21:31):
Yes, they did a vote for what want to be
in the poll, so they got their twenty save.

Vote to be in the top twenty vote.

Well, I think they're about one hundred and fifty two
behind Louisville, who is the next biggest vote getter in Florida,
and one forty seven.

So hey, look there, you know that whole group is
all considered twenty six.

So well, the reality is they just don't think Hawaii
can get it done. And for the ones who could

which Mike Florio and some others pointed out, well, he
wasn't listed anywhere on an injury list, and so if
they didn't disclose that, could the Steelers be getting in
trouble for this? And Arthur Smith was asked about it.
It was the offensive coordinator last year for the Steelers,
and he's somebody who had when he was coach of
the Falcons was actually punished because he didn't disclose that

Bejon Robinson was sick before a game. And I don't
know where this ends up, but it just seems a
little ironic that Aaron Rodgers' health before a playoff game
becomes a topic of conversation the day after he questioned
health protocols that were put in place by the league
(24:54):
years ago during COVID. So I don't know if this
is a little bit of retribution or if the Steelers
are going to get punis for this. The NFL does
not have a comment on it. When they were reached
for comment on the fact that his ailment or illness
wasn't disclosed, Rogers swears that he was perfectly fine before kickoff,
but apparently this could lead to some conversations about maybe

the Steelers getting in.

Trouble getting in trouble in terms of what I Wow,
you got, like clear that up for me, because doesn't
this turn into it, he says, She say type of
situation if if I were if I were under the
weather and and I went home from the hotel, that's
not that's not something that I mean they made the

trainers may document it, but I don't. I don't see
that being a real situation where it's like, let's make
sure we put this in the records, and this is
fouled away and stuff like that.

They're just going to send you off. That was my
first thought. That's it's not like he has a pulled
hamstring and nobody needn't telling us me.

And let's be clear here, if you're not feeling well
and you're growing up and you're sick, they don't want
you to go home. They they want to treat you.
So he wouldn't have been going home for for throwing
up and and not feeling well to be able to
what did he play? He played in that game, right,
so he played sick. Yeah, I don't I think that

this is to me, it's kind of a non story
because that the framing of it doesn't doesn't make sense.
If he's sick and he's not feeling well. The night
before a game, then you're most likely seeing the teen
doctor who's in the hotel. You're probably getting an IVY

to make sure that you're you're hydrated, and if they
need to put you on the go to drug that
they use back then for being sick not feeling well
as a Z pack, they'll start you on his E pack.

Where you how you're getting in trouble. Whenever when you
guys were playing, was every injury and ailment detailed on
the injury report before you played? Every single one?
Speaker 6 (27:04):
No. No.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
But also there's reasons why players wouldn't be willing to
share with the team either. I mean, some of it's contractual.
Some of it you know, you just don't want them
to know you're dealing with something. That's the toughest part
for the player side of things, because anything you say
and do can be used against you in a court
of law or can be used against you in a

contract negotiation. So that's the tough part about sharing stuff
with the team sometimes. Now, a sickness is a little
bit different, but you know, when we're talking about other
sorts of injuries or ailments like those are things that
you you know, would rather not tell.

I mean, look at Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Look the situation that he's in, yeah, you know, playing
through stuff, and how that's worked out for him now
in Cleveland and Tampa, two completely separate organizations. Yet he's
struggling to get the credit or the equity for what
he's trying to do for his team and for his teammates.
And the problem is after the fact, most teams are like, yeah,
we didn't play well, So no one really cares.

In regards to the NFL side of all of this.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
I mean, there's a lot of stuff that goes on
that probably would impact the game just as much. You know,
that's personal stuff between you know, players and their girls.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
Or wives spout whatever.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
I mean, there's stuff that goes on with coaches outside
of it that probably never gets brought to light. So
it's hard to report on everything that plays a factor
into the games and how these guys perform or how
coaches are able to call a game or manage a game.

But that's humanity, that's the reality of it.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
In this case, I do think if you sent the
guy home should have popped up on the injured report
and you know, obviously there's probably some people who got
wind of it and were able to make some money
off at betting wise, but I think that's the risk
of betting, is that you're playing against people who probably
have a greater network than you, that know what's going
on better than you in regards to players' health.

And status where they're at. So if you're willing to
risk it, so be it.

But you know, again, you're going up against people who
have a lot more information and insider information than you do.

I mean, this is a difficult topic for me to discuss.
And Brady was talking to me about this earlier and
just saying, this is going to be hard for you
to discuss because you never call him sick, And I
was like, that's a great point. So I don't even

how upset everybody gets about the Dodgers been able to

everybody else instead of trying to do the same thing
and spending money that they make and all that and
reinvesting in the team and deferring payment and all the
different things as the Dodgers do. Instead of doing what
the Dodgers do, everybody else seems to want to complain

about shutting baseball down, I don't care that there's no
baseball games and kids don't get their hot dog and
people don't get their their recreation and all that I

if the Dodgers don't win the you know, the World Series,

pressure for one person. How big is the pressure for
the Dodgers to win. Is that a real thing? Would

one player like bringing in a major trade guy like Scooble,
would that be pressure on?

Would he get blamed if they didn't win.

The I mean we're just getting to know him. And look,
I mean remember that Yamamoto. When Yamamoto came a couple
of years ago, he was like good, but just okay,
And then in the playoffs it was like wow, against
the Yankees, he was pretty good. And then last year
he was knockout unbelievable, legendary performance World Series MVP.

So you never really know.

And the year before that it was Walker Buehler who
was the Dodgers pitching hero in the World Series.

And they got rid of him.
Speaker 10 (43:48):
You know, now he's pitching in San Diego, So you
never really know who it's going to be.

You could say last year very if you.
Speaker 10 (43:57):
Paid close attention to these things, that the Dodgers wouldn't
have won the World Series without Blast. Now, they wouldn't
have won the World Series without Blake Snell. They wouldn't
have won the World Series without Yamamoto. Like they needed
all of those pitchers, oh Tani, They needed all of
those guys throwing and playing at a high level.

So Scooble's just one guy. He is.
Speaker 10 (44:19):
It's amazing because as good as the Dodgers are, and
as many great pitchers as they have, a few of
them are on the IL. It's amazing to think, Wow,
you bring in this guy and he's automatically your ace,
like you pitch him before Yamamoto, before anybody. He's going
to be the game one starter. So in that regard, LeVar,

for sure, Yeah, I think there's a lot of pressure
on him.
Speaker 6 (44:43):
But I think this is a guy who's.
Speaker 10 (44:44):
Been pitching at such a high level and is so
respected in the game that this is what he wants.
He wants the pressure, he wants to be in the playoffs.
He wants the ball in the NLCS, in the World Series,
and the Dodgers are all in for that. The Dodgers
have deferred payment, the Dodgers have reinvested. The Dodgers want

to win three straight back to back to back and
do something that no one's done since the Yankees in
a long time. And I don't know what they'll do
after that. But they're old. I mean, all of their
great players really are in their thirties except for Andy Paez.
I mean Otani, Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts is old, Ti

Oscar HERNANDZ.

I mean they are old for the most part.

So it really is kind of an all or nothing
vibe this year, and given the expectations and how much
everybody hates them, Yeah, I think it would be a
pretty big disappointment for Dodger fans if they didn't win
at all. But I mean everybody talks about how great
they are and how over the top they are, and
I mean they barely won the World Series by.

Like a half of the branch last year. So we'll see.

In regards going back to the conversation about the Dodgers
and how they're doing this and constructing their rosters and
is it good or bad for baseball?

Is it the fact that you can pay these guys
till almost twenty fifty in some cases, you know, with
the deferred payments where you're saying, yeah, maybe that should
be changed, Like if you're looking for an outlier compared
to every other professional league, isn't that the one where

you know, at a point time where we might be
playing baseball on Mars By that point.

Terry Bradshaw's like making fun of Aaron Rodgers for Ivermectin,
and all the soldiers are like standing and screaming and
cheering for Terry Bradshaw. Well, he makes fun of Aaron Rodgers.
I mean, I just remember the ridiculousness and how stupid

all of that was. And now that the dust is
settled and we realize that a lot of the things
we were told are not even true or not close
to being true, I think a lot of people are upset.
So I think that's fair. As far as the Russini coverage,
I think that's fair too. I mean there's a different
vibe for every league and how it's covered. Right, the

NBA is covered by creepy agent types and nothing comes
out unless Sham Sharania breaks it because he's the one
that the NBA says is okay to break it through ESPN. Right, Yeah,
Baseball feels a little bit more like there's more honest
brokers out there. Buster only only and John Hayman and

passing and different people like that. I mean, baseball news
breaks it feels like it used to in a more
honest way.

I mean he really tries not to because that doesn't
help him at all, being embedded with the Dodgers, you know,

news and they don't break it. But baseball feels a
little bit more like how breaking news used to operate when.

And then the NFL is the most confounding, right, I mean,
the NFL acts like they have reporters, They act like
they have people that are holding them accountable, but the
truth is they don't. They have a bunch of sycophant

They make a lot of money, they feel good about it.
They're all in their own little circle jerk and that's fine. Uh,
it's fine for NFL people, and they're doing a great
job and they have a powerful league, but the coverage

it's obvious that they do, then you don't really have reporters.
You just have you know, state controlled media. And that's
kind of how the NFL feels. And I communists to me,
pal totally right, and I don't like it. I don't

wife and all that, but if he wants to call
them out for not I mean the things we cover
in the NFL and the things we're outraged about, like
Harrison Butker, we get outraged about that, but a dude

I don't think we cover the league in a very

in a great way. And that's because the league is
so powerful and the league is so too big to
fail in so many ways that the you know, and
the TV rights and all that, no one's really going.

are to watching heart Knocks and continuing the legacy of
how amazing the show has been through the years. Where
do you fall on on watching hard Knocks.

You know, I stopped watching it a long time ago.

I would be sarcastic by the way, I'm in the
same boat as you, but going.

I mean, I see, look, I understand why it's popular
and all that, and you know, it's obviously really well produced,
and they can make a story out of it, and
it's really well done reality TV. But obviously it's also
lead controlled and what comes out is what they want
you to see. But I saw a little clip of

the Seattle coach talking to the safety and having a
bit of a meaningful conversation on camera, which was I mean,
it held my attention for two or three minutes. But
as far as watching the whole thing and getting super involved,
I mean, I've lived enough football camps in my life
and go through enough football seasons to where I don't

need to immerse myself in August. But I mean, I
think like a real camp documentary would be great, but
no one's ever going to get to make one, right,
no one's ever gonna get I remember a long time ago,
remember ESPN tried to do a Bury Bond documentary. They

Barry Bonds, let him follow him around with a camera
and they got and Barry Bonds was a controversial figure
because his head looked like a porta potty and his
wrists and you know, he was huge.

I mean, he looked totally different.
Speaker 10 (55:14):
You know, everybody's like, this guy's juiced up, and like,
everybody's like, what do you mean he's juiced up?

Looking at him? He's fine?

And they did they did like a documentary, and there
was heavy criticism of ESPN at.

The time because was it Pedro Gomez was the guy
following well, he was following Bonds around.

But they did an actual documentary and Bond. It was
very short lived because Bonds was the guy that had
the final say on what's out there, what gets produced,
and they were heavily criticized for that. And now all
these years later, guess who's going to do that again
for his last year Lebron James, and it's going to

be a propaganda thing about him in Philadelphia, and nothing
is going to be negative, and it's all going to
be a positive, completely and totally self aggrandizing thing that
most people probably aren't going to be interested unless you're
like a full lebron sycophant in watching. And it's funny.
No one's going to criticize that. But fifteen twenty years ago,

everybody was all over the I mean twenty years ago,
everybody was all over the Bonds thing like it was
the worst thing ever. And to me, I mean, if
it's a reality show and it's house produced, it's just
there as like a you might as well be watching
the Twitter feed of the Miami Dolphins or something. It's propaganda,
not that it can't be interesting, but that's probably not

even close to what the real story of that camp is.

of a USC X player, guys that aren't going to

have the opportunity to play at South Bend. That really
bothers me and I feel like it was a failure
by leadership on both sides. But for whatever you want
to say about Notre Dame and what they need and
what they don't need and how powerful they are in their.

This started with Lincoln Riley bitching and complaining, and now
they just pulled out of a Texas Tech series that
they were in talks about and playing in Houston because
what Texas Tech's Lincoln Riley's alma mater.

So Lincoln Riley didn't want it, he complained about it
right got the job, and it looks like he got
his way because in twenty thirty, I don't think Lincoln
Riley's going to be around when USC plays Notre Dame again.
So I think it's a shameful thing. That the rivalry
is off. I don't like the rivalry in week one

or week two or week three, but I understand that
college football needs more marquee matchups early in the season,
and if that's something that has to change because of
modern times, and they're still going to play fine, But
I have a serious issue with the fact that no
one was able to figure it out and we had
to learn about this in the first place, and the

two schools couldn't do what it is their job is
to do, which is figure it out and make sure
it happens, and they failed at that for four years,
and they should be held accountable.

the coaches they weren't allowed to curse, they weren't allowed
to show cursing on on television during the show. And
I thought, all right, so this whole thing is manufactured then,

throw out a bunch of garbage and people are just gonna,

you know, be watching it for whatever they're like, there's
so many other reality shows that feel more real, like
the Quarterback Wide Receiver.

A couple interesting things to point out about this.

Indiana got fourteen first place vote, which is actually second
to Ohio State, who got thirty.

Eight, and they are in the number one spot.

And somehow they're at sixth now I don't know how
the math maths six Yes, oh wow, the defending national
champions got again the second most and by.

The way, by kind of a wide margin.

Like the third team in regards to first place vote
spot from the coach's pool was Georgia was seven and
they were ranked third. So I'm like, I kind of
want to see the detailed list of votes as far
as points and just how they constructed this because it
feels like it doesn't make a ton of sense, like
Notre Dame only got five, Texts only got two, but

they're both ranked ahead of Indiana at four and five, respectively.

So it's a bit bizarre the ranking system.

But I would I would say this.

If I was saying right now, if you're a Betty
man who has a chance to win the national championship,
and I think this is at least in my mind
for the most part, has played.

Out to some degree over the last few years. It's
the top seven teams.

You probaly all seven of those top teams, like, that's
who's gonna win a national championship.
Speaker 6 (09:10):
I would be willing to bet.

And I just I feel like there's a disparity between
some of the haves that have nots, the spenders, you know,
the teams that aren't necessarily in transition. You know, you
look at every single one of those teams. There wasn't
a change ahead coach. All right, there's stability there. What
about the quarterback position, Well, you could make the same
case there with the exception of two of those teams

that are ranked six and seven. That's Indiana, Miami, but
Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, Texas, Notre Dame. They all have
starting quarterbacks who are coming back after starting last year
and proving out to be pretty damn good. And in
the case of Indiana and Miami, they have guys who've
got starting quarterback experience. Josh Hoover from TCU to Indiana's
played a lot of football. Darien Mensa from Duke to
(09:55):
Miami a lot of football who was at Tallane before that.
Starting differences, they're just changing with the program. But there
are some commonalities amongst the teams that I think we
all feel good about going into the season, and they're
all teams with quarterbacks and guys who have had a
lot of experience. You could even extrapolay and keep going
out like Texas A and m Marcel Reed Oklahoma. John Matier
(10:17):
at number ten is old Miss Trinidad shobless, Like all
those teams have quarterbacks who have prior starting experience, and
we look at them then we feel like they're a
safe bet to be one of the top teams in
the country.
Speaker 7 (10:28):
And you wouldn't be wrong.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
I mean, when you talk to these coaches and these teams,
when you go to different media days, they all talk
about it. I don't care if you're a defensive minded
head coach offensive minded. They're like, we feel like we
got a guy, and that's what probably has been the
missing link for some of these programs.
Speaker 6 (10:45):
And that's where I'm.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Curious to see Penn State, LeVar, who's ranked seventeenth in
this pool. I really think people are underestimating what they're
going to do this year. I think there'll be a
team that's gonna win ten games, and they've got a
lot of guys coming in from Iowa State who can
immediately bring that foundation and culture to Penn State and
make them competitive right away, especially with Roco back to quarterback.
Speaker 6 (11:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
I like Rocco. He can play, He's proven he can play.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
And I like the guys that they brought in from
from Iowa State and a couple other places, brought in
a defensive end from Colorado. I like them being ranked seventeenth.
I like them being at that place. They got a
favorable schedule that plays in their favor. And you know,
when I look at I get an opportunity to get
(11:35):
an inside, you know, deal on it, not only as
a former player that's very involved with the program. I
mean I talked to coach Campbell. You know quite a bit,
but I get it from the player perspective too, because
because my son is on the team. So just hearing
the way the energy shift has taken place. Again, sometimes
(11:57):
you don't really know what type of relationship you're in
until you get out of it. And I think that what.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
Tell me about it? Well, what you reference, you get
it off your chest. Okay, I could dig it.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
But these guys seemed to be The guys that stayed
seemed to be rejuvenated, seemed to be excited and pumped
up about everything. The guys who came in seemed to
be excited because of the opportunity to play at what
they would say is in a bigger school, a bigger
a bigger opportunity. It just seems like a group that
(12:36):
is very excited about what the opportunities are. And it
just didn't really feel so much like that last season.
It really didn't. It almost had like the feeling of
just a whole lot of different pieces going in different directions,
and it was a matter of who was influential in
(12:58):
those directions, whether it was a co which, whether it
was a teammate. It just wasn't cohesive. It just seems
like the conversations, the energy, the leadership. It just seems
very very cohesive. And I'll say this, Mitt Campbell has
done the one thing that I felt like, you know,
(13:19):
Bill O'Brien failed at doing, James Franklin failed at doing,
which was which I don't understand it at all. But
Mitt Campbell has gone out of his way to welcome
back the Letterman and the All Americans and the players
who came before. You know, the guys are there now,
(13:41):
and it's been a great response. They've been very responsive.
I mean, I hadn't seen Carrie Collins in Forever, hadn't
seen Kyle Brady and forever to see Kyle Brady and Kei,
Johnna Carter and Jared Vicious and all those guys on
campus at the same time. Walking through the facilities and
(14:02):
stuff like that, you can tell there's a different feeling,
a different energy that's in the air. And it's including
the tradition like it was a hard time. So I
don't I don't fault Franklin for trying to kind of
put the drama in the back, in the rear view
so that you can kind of build for the future.
(14:23):
It almost was a coping mechanism for him to be
able to pull the program forward. So I don't I
don't have any you know, harsh Ill Will feeling sources.
In fact, he was my guy. But it does feel different.
It does have a feeling of family, more family oriented,
more open, and guys feel more comfortable and confident coming back.
(14:47):
And I think that that's going to pay it play
a major part and why this team is able to
kind of progress and be better moving forward.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
That's kind of an odd thing, though, that he would
not welcome the idea of some of the legends being
brought back or at least make that a focal point.
Like the fact that Matt Campbell did that one little
thing and it's changed the vibe.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
It's kind of odd that Franklin would.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
It's a tad bit more complex because of the whole way,
you know, things happened with Joe and so it was
kind of like there was there was some complexities there,
and I think that, you know, coach Franklin was trying
to win, not not trying to play the political game
that everybody was trying to turn it into. So I
(15:29):
don't want to get too deep off into that. I mean,
I'm glad that they're ranked pretty high, and and and yes,
people are are very excited about Matt Campbell and him
being the head coach moving forward.
Speaker 5 (15:39):
It's they were ranked second in the preseason a peopole
last year. If you would have if we would have
had that conversation, and I would have said, hey, by
about what mid October James Franklin, James Franklin's going to
be fired? Nobody would have thought so. No, like just
and you go back to the a people from last year.

Heisman Trophy favorites. It just that's why I always take
these preseason polls with a grain of salt to where
I just don't know what you really get from them.

with horse racing, I don't just pick a winner. I'll
pick three or four and hope that one of those
long shots win and I make a little bit of
money there. So what would be these seven teams if
you are looking at college football right now to win
a national title? That would be the most likely in

your mind, Brady, if you had to pick right now, Well.

Like I've said now multiple times, the top seven.

In this coach's poll, if we parlayed those, those would
be the most likely.

So one of the reasons why every single one of
those teams are looked at all right, why they're the
top seven ranked, and six of the seven Witch got
first place. It was because they all have returning head coaches.
They're not programs that had to make a transition.
Speaker 6 (17:56):
They're old.
Speaker 7 (17:57):
Miss for example, would be one of those. Even though
Pete Golding was.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
There and they elevated him and he coached a little
bit last postseason, still a new head coach, we still
don't really know what we're getting in him. For example,
Lane Kiffin at thirteen coming into LSU talented roster, but
they have a quarterback who's got some experience. So anytime
there's not consistency, there's not already a foundation there, it
makes a little harder to be able to overcome that.
(18:21):
And then again, the other piece of this is quarterbacks
who've got prior starting experience. Julians Santa Ohio State, Dante
Morid Oregon, Hunter Stockton at Georgia, Gunner Stockton at George
excuse me, arch Manning at Texas CJ card tore Dame
Hoover's got prior experience, but he did transfer and mensa
prior experience, but to transfer.
Speaker 6 (18:41):
Those seven teams.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Are by far and away the most highly touted based
on their blue chip ratio, have stability with the head
coach who's now been there as well. And then when
you look at the quarterback position, in five of the
seven cases, guys who started there have been there. In
two of those other cases, the guys who've played a
lot of football but are transferring in. But we've seen that,
you know, work with Indiana for example, with Fernanda Mendoza.
(19:06):
So again, those seven, to me, there's a big separation
with really the rest of college football.
Speaker 5 (19:13):
That's way too many teams for me to make money
on this, because if I'm putting money on all these teams,
if Ohio State or Notre Dame or even Texas hit,
I'm not making much of a profit. Especially if Ohio
State or Notre Dame hit. If I'm going one hundred
bucks on each, you know I'm gonna end up losing
money on all this. Like I need, I need at
least one long shot to make this worth my whiles.
(19:35):
Why can't you tell us the number why Ohio States
is six to one, So here's that works. Ohio States
is six to one. Notre Dame's a plus six fifty.
I'm doing seven teams, so I need somebody that's got
greater than seven to one odds to win. In order
for me to make some sort of a profit on this.
If I'm betting seven teams to win the whole thing,

I just need one of those to hit. If Ohio
State or Notre Dame hits, I'm gonna lose money because
they're less than seven to one odds.

So why don't you bet against one of oh seven
teams to not.

You actually would take the opposite of eye.

and just really really went to work on the entire network,
their coverage of the Fauci stuff, their coverage of the
Racini stuff, Like.

And then I don't know if this was coincidence or not,
but Mike Silver of The Athletic reported that Rogers was
apparently so sick before the playoff game last year against
the Tech Dixon's that he was sent home from the
team hotel, vomiting fever, so on and so forth, to

which Mike Florio and some others pointed out, well, he
wasn't listed anywhere on an injury list, and so if
they didn't disclose that, could the Steelers be getting in
trouble for this? And Arthur Smith was asked about it.
It was the offensive coordinator last year for the Steelers,
and he's somebody who had when he was coach of
the Falcons was actually punished because he didn't disclose that

Bejon Robinson was sick before a game. And I don't
know where this ends up, but it just seems a
little ironic that Aaron Rodgers' health before a playoff game
becomes a topic of conversation the day after he questioned
health protocols that were put in place by the league
(24:54):
years ago during COVID. So I don't know if this
is a little bit of retribution or if the Steelers
are going to get punis for this. The NFL does
not have a comment on it. When they were reached
for comment on the fact that his ailment or illness
wasn't disclosed, Rogers swears that he was perfectly fine before kickoff,
but apparently this could lead to some conversations about maybe
(25:16):
the Steelers getting in.

Trouble getting in trouble in terms of what I Wow,
you got, like clear that up for me, because doesn't
this turn into it, he says, She say type of
situation if if I were if I were under the
weather and and I went home from the hotel, that's
not that's not something that I mean they made the

trainers may document it, but I don't. I don't see
that being a real situation where it's like, let's make
sure we put this in the records, and this is
fouled away and stuff like that.

They're just going to send you off. That was my
first thought. That's it's not like he has a pulled
hamstring and nobody needn't telling us me.

And let's be clear here, if you're not feeling well
and you're growing up and you're sick, they don't want
you to go home. They they want to treat you.
So he wouldn't have been going home for for throwing
up and and not feeling well to be able to
what did he play? He played in that game, right,
so he played sick. Yeah, I don't I think that

this is to me, it's kind of a non story
because that the framing of it doesn't doesn't make sense.
If he's sick and he's not feeling well. The night
before a game, then you're most likely seeing the teen
doctor who's in the hotel. You're probably getting an IVY

to make sure that you're you're hydrated, and if they
need to put you on the go to drug that
they use back then for being sick not feeling well
as a Z pack, they'll start you on his E pack.

Where you how you're getting in trouble. Whenever when you
guys were playing, was every injury and ailment detailed on
the injury report before you played? Every single one?
Speaker 6 (27:04):
No. No.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
But also there's reasons why players wouldn't be willing to
share with the team either. I mean, some of it's contractual.
Some of it you know, you just don't want them
to know you're dealing with something. That's the toughest part
for the player side of things, because anything you say
and do can be used against you in a court
of law or can be used against you in a
(27:25):
contract negotiation. So that's the tough part about sharing stuff
with the team sometimes. Now, a sickness is a little
bit different, but you know, when we're talking about other
sorts of injuries or ailments like those are things that
you you know, would rather not tell.
Speaker 6 (27:41):
I mean, look at Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Look the situation that he's in, yeah, you know, playing
through stuff, and how that's worked out for him now
in Cleveland and Tampa, two completely separate organizations. Yet he's
struggling to get the credit or the equity for what
he's trying to do for his team and for his teammates.
And the problem is after the fact, most teams are like, yeah,
we didn't play well, So no one really cares.
Speaker 7 (28:04):
In regards to the NFL side of all of this.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
I mean, there's a lot of stuff that goes on
that probably would impact the game just as much. You know,
that's personal stuff between you know, players and their girls.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
Or wives spout whatever.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
I mean, there's stuff that goes on with coaches outside
of it that probably never gets brought to light. So
it's hard to report on everything that plays a factor
into the games and how these guys perform or how
coaches are able to call a game or manage a game.
Speaker 6 (28:32):
But that's humanity, that's the reality of it.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
In this case, I do think if you sent the
guy home should have popped up on the injured report
and you know, obviously there's probably some people who got
wind of it and were able to make some money
off at betting wise, but I think that's the risk
of betting, is that you're playing against people who probably
have a greater network than you, that know what's going
on better than you in regards to players' health.
Speaker 6 (28:57):
And status where they're at. So if you're willing to
risk it, so be it.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
But you know, again, you're going up against people who
have a lot more information and insider information than you do.
Speaker 6 (29:09):

I mean, this is a difficult topic for me to discuss.
And Brady was talking to me about this earlier and
just saying, this is going to be hard for you
to discuss because you never call him sick, And I
was like, that's a great point. So I don't even
know what this world's like, Like, I'm not even familiar.

So we were having the conversation earlier and Jonas asked,
if the Dodgers don't win the you know, the World Series,
does Schooble get get the blame for it? And and
you know, we talked about how that's a lot of
pressure for one person. How big is the pressure for
the Dodgers to win. Is that a real thing? Would

one player like bringing in a major trade guy like Scooble,
would that be pressure on?

Would he get blamed if they didn't win.

The I mean we're just getting to know him. And look,
I mean remember that Yamamoto. When Yamamoto came a couple
of years ago, he was like good, but just okay,
And then in the playoffs it was like wow, against
the Yankees, he was pretty good. And then last year
he was knockout unbelievable, legendary performance World Series MVP.
Speaker 6 (43:39):
So you never really know.
Speaker 10 (43:40):
And the year before that it was Walker Buehler who
was the Dodgers pitching hero in the World Series.
Speaker 6 (43:47):
And they got rid of him.
Speaker 10 (43:48):
You know, now he's pitching in San Diego, So you
never really know who it's going to be.

You could say last year very if you.
Speaker 10 (43:57):
Paid close attention to these things, that the Dodgers wouldn't
have won the World Series without Blast. Now, they wouldn't
have won the World Series without Blake Snell. They wouldn't
have won the World Series without Yamamoto. Like they needed
all of those pitchers, oh Tani, They needed all of
those guys throwing and playing at a high level.
Speaker 6 (44:16):
So Scooble's just one guy. He is.
Speaker 10 (44:19):
It's amazing because as good as the Dodgers are, and
as many great pitchers as they have, a few of
them are on the IL. It's amazing to think, Wow,
you bring in this guy and he's automatically your ace,
like you pitch him before Yamamoto, before anybody. He's going
to be the game one starter. So in that regard, LeVar,

for sure, Yeah, I think there's a lot of pressure
on him.
Speaker 6 (44:43):
But I think this is a guy who's.
Speaker 10 (44:44):
Been pitching at such a high level and is so
respected in the game that this is what he wants.
He wants the pressure, he wants to be in the playoffs.
He wants the ball in the NLCS, in the World Series,
and the Dodgers are all in for that. The Dodgers
have deferred payment, the Dodgers have reinvested. The Dodgers want

to win three straight back to back to back and
do something that no one's done since the Yankees in
a long time. And I don't know what they'll do
after that. But they're old. I mean, all of their
great players really are in their thirties except for Andy Paez.
I mean Otani, Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts is old, Ti

Oscar HERNANDZ.
Speaker 6 (45:29):
I mean they are old for the most part.
Speaker 10 (45:32):
So it really is kind of an all or nothing
vibe this year, and given the expectations and how much
everybody hates them, Yeah, I think it would be a
pretty big disappointment for Dodger fans if they didn't win
at all. But I mean everybody talks about how great
they are and how over the top they are, and
I mean they barely won the World Series by.
Speaker 6 (45:51):
Like a half of the branch last year. So we'll see.

In regards going back to the conversation about the Dodgers
and how they're doing this and constructing their rosters and
is it good or bad for baseball?

Is it the fact that you can pay these guys
till almost twenty fifty in some cases, you know, with
the deferred payments where you're saying, yeah, maybe that should
be changed, Like if you're looking for an outlier compared
to every other professional league, isn't that the one where
you're like, I don't know if we should be paying guys,
you know, at a point time where we might be
playing baseball on Mars By that point.

You know what I'm saying, Well, what's wrong with that?

There's nothing wrong with playing baseball on Mars. But I'm saying, like,
why why are we able to defer payments that out
into the future.

I mean, I can barely handle my finances for next week.
But it's if it's a rule and it's it's legal,
then the Dodgers obviously figured something out.

And if it's such a bad thing, why is it allowed?

is they reinvest in the team, but they make money

like nobody's business. I mean, they make money because of
their popularity, and they've always made a whole bunch of money.

They've been the most visited.

Sport in the world for many years because of the
size of Dodger Stadium and the amount of games they have.
But I understand what you're saying, Brady, but that's all
part of this collective bargaining thing, and it's going to
go back and forth, and it's gonna be tedious, and
it's gonna be horrible, and it's gonna last a long time.
So right now, I guess most people, especially Dodger fans,

are living in the moment and dancing to the music
and the Titanic as it sinks.

I remember Terry Bradshaw at uh they were at.

Military type of shows for the Fox NFL football and
Terry Bradshaw's like making fun of Aaron Rodgers for Ivermectin,
and all the soldiers are like standing and screaming and

I mean, I just remember the ridiculousness and how stupid

all of that was. And now that the dust is
settled and we realize that a lot of the things
we were told are not even true or not close
to being true, I think a lot of people are upset.
So I think that's fair. As far as the Russini coverage,
I think that's fair too. I mean there's a different
vibe for every league and how it's covered. Right, the

NBA is covered by creepy agent types and nothing comes
out unless Sham Sharania breaks it because he's the one
that the NBA says is okay to break it through ESPN. Right, Yeah,
Baseball feels a little bit more like there's more honest

passing and different people like that. I mean, baseball news
breaks it feels like it used to in a more
honest way.

But Dave doesn't break news.

I mean he really tries not to because that doesn't
help him at all, being embedded with the Dodgers, you know,

of the time Dave would have news or people have
news and they don't break it. But baseball feels a
little bit more like how breaking news used to operate when.

And then the NFL is the most confounding, right, I mean,
the NFL acts like they have reporters, They act like
they have people that are holding them accountable, but the
truth is they don't. They have a bunch of sycophant
ball washers like Pete Schreeger who were controlled by the league.

They make a lot of money, they feel good about it.
They're all in their own little circle jerk and that's fine. Uh,
it's fine for NFL people, and they're doing a great
job and they have a powerful league, but the coverage
of it is completely and totally skewed and full of propaganda.
If a guy like Schefter you can control completely, and

it's obvious that they do, then you don't really have reporters.
You just have you know, state controlled media. And that's
kind of how the NFL feels. And I communists to me,
pal totally right, and I don't like it. I don't
like that commye NFL. No, I don't like Aaron. Aaron
Rodgers is a bit of a weirdo with his secret

wife and all that, but if he wants to call
them out for not I mean the things we cover
in the NFL and the things we're outraged about, like
Harrison Butker, we get outraged about that, but a dude

I don't think we cover the league in a very

so powerful and the league is so too big to

are to watching heart Knocks and continuing the legacy of
how amazing the show has been through the years. Where
do you fall on on watching hard Knocks.

You know, I stopped watching it a long time ago.

I would be sarcastic by the way, I'm in the
same boat as you, but going.

I mean, I see, look, I understand why it's popular
and all that, and you know, it's obviously really well produced,
and they can make a story out of it, and
it's really well done reality TV. But obviously it's also
lead controlled and what comes out is what they want
you to see. But I saw a little clip of

the Seattle coach talking to the safety and having a
bit of a meaningful conversation on camera, which was I mean,
it held my attention for two or three minutes. But
as far as watching the whole thing and getting super involved,
I mean, I've lived enough football camps in my life
and go through enough football seasons to where I don't

need to immerse myself in August. But I mean, I
think like a real camp documentary would be great, but
no one's ever going to get to make one, right,
no one's ever gonna get I remember a long time ago,
remember ESPN tried to do a Bury Bond documentary. They

Barry Bonds, let him follow him around with a camera
and they got and Barry Bonds was a controversial figure
because his head looked like a porta potty and his
wrists and you know, he was huge.
Speaker 6 (55:13):
I mean, he looked totally different.
Speaker 10 (55:14):
You know, everybody's like, this guy's juiced up, and like,
everybody's like, what do you mean he's juiced up?
Speaker 6 (55:18):
Looking at him? He's fine?

And they did they did like a documentary, and there
was heavy criticism of ESPN at.

The time because was it Pedro Gomez was the guy
following well, he was following Bonds around.
Speaker 10 (55:33):
But they did an actual documentary and Bond. It was
very short lived because Bonds was the guy that had
the final say on what's out there, what gets produced,
and they were heavily criticized for that. And now all
these years later, guess who's going to do that again
for his last year Lebron James, and it's going to

be a propaganda thing about him in Philadelphia, and nothing
is going to be negative, and it's all going to
be a positive, completely and totally self aggrandizing thing that
most people probably aren't going to be interested unless you're
like a full lebron sycophant in watching. And it's funny.
No one's going to criticize that. But fifteen twenty years ago,

everybody was all over the I mean twenty years ago,
everybody was all over the Bonds thing like it was
the worst thing ever. And to me, I mean, if
it's a reality show and it's house produced, it's just
there as like a you might as well be watching
the Twitter feed of the Miami Dolphins or something. It's propaganda,
not that it can't be interesting, but that's probably not

even close to what the real story of that camp is.

that there's a whole generation of football, and by that
I mean four years freshman to senior year of guys
that aren't going to have the opportunity to play in
that game. And I look at it from the scope
of a USC X player, guys that aren't going to

have the opportunity to play at South Bend. That really
bothers me and I feel like it was a failure
by leadership on both sides. But for whatever you want
to say about Notre Dame and what they need and
what they don't need and how powerful they are in their.

This started with Lincoln Riley bitching and complaining, and now
they just pulled out of a Texas Tech series that
they were in talks about and playing in Houston because
what Texas Tech's Lincoln Riley's alma mater.

I don't want to play them now. They're too good.
Speaker 10 (57:54):
So Lincoln Riley didn't want it, he complained about it
right got the job, and it looks like he got
his way because in twenty thirty, I don't think Lincoln
Riley's going to be around when USC plays Notre Dame again.
So I think it's a shameful thing. That the rivalry
is off. I don't like the rivalry in week one

or week two or week three, but I understand that
college football needs more marquee matchups early in the season,
and if that's something that has to change because of
modern times, and they're still going to play fine, But
I have a serious issue with the fact that no
one was able to figure it out and we had
to learn about this in the first place, and the

two schools couldn't do what it is their job is
to do, which is figure it out and make sure
it happens, and they failed at that for four years,
and they should be held accountable.
