Speaker 3 (00:36):
The tampering windows open, but we've got two hours into
the tampering window. The illegal tampering period in the NFL
is open. It is wide open, and we've got movement
around the league. It is LaVar Arrington and Jonas Knox

on the podcast, we appreciate you doing so as we
take you all the way up until the end of
this hour three o'clock Eastern time, noon Pacific. We've been
talking a lot about the movement in the NFL. We've
got the great Greg two a year who's monitoring the
transaction wire for the legal tampering period. So it is
time for a nether update from tongue in Touey himself
(01:22):
to find out who's going where in the national football tea.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Breaking news from Fox Sports.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
All right, guys, this is another sneaky good signing here.
Travis Etn JAG's running back, Travis Etn, we'll be signing
with the Saints.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
With the Saints, I mean, what happened to their running back?
What's his name? The the dula McAllister, the elevator assassin Kamara,
Alvin Kamar. Yeah, what happened to him?
Speaker 5 (01:52):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:52):
You know he's, you know, not the player he once was.
And yeah, by the way, if you do see album Kamara,
I'd recommend it. In the stairs.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
He's under contract this year, so I think it's a
nice little one two punch.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Is that what that is?
Speaker 3 (02:07):
That's so that's your I see what you did there too,
want one two punch? I see what he did there?
Speaker 2 (02:14):
He always in the gutter, throw a class in the gutter.
That one isn't in the gutter. That one's in the elevator.
I told you man, you see him take the stairs.
That's the lesson elevator. Wait for the next one. Thank you.
You know what's great about that story though.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
No worries, man, don't they knew he had assaulted a
guy at an elevator, but they still let him play
the Pro Bowl. Okay, we don't want had to do
a little bit more investigating.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
So we don't want to take hibout of this game.
But yeah, it is uh Travis, Well, I think it
was a tremendously disappointing year for the New Orleans Sayings,
but I do I do think the Saints come away going.
We got our quarterback, Tyler.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Trying to build around them, trying to get Tyler.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Tyler Shuck played much better than I think anybody thought
he was going to play. I believe he just turned
thirty four, if I'm not mistaken, so maybe, uh, you know,
maybe that's a bit long in the tooth, but he
played a lot better than I think a lot of
people expected. And I think the Saints are still because
remember back before the season started, they were predicted to
(03:21):
be the worst team in the league. It was the
tanking for arch Manning there. You know, all the stars
were gonna line they're going to bring him back, and
then you come to find out the Saints haven't drafted
a quarterback in the first round since Archie Manning. That
was the last time, so Drew Brees obviously from the Chargers,
all the quarterbacks that they've had, they've never drafted one
(03:42):
in the first round. And if they in fact found
their guy in Tyler Shuck, that's going to be another
guy that was drafted later on. And he performed at
a high level last year and they were a fun
team to watch.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
They went four to one undersuck the last part of season,
finishing up stabilizing their their salary situation. I'd listen, if
Shuck can be that guy now that they have film
on him and and they can move forward. I just
think that there are a lot of isn't Cam Jordan
(04:12):
isn't he gone this year? He isn't even he's a
free agent? Just bring like Kellen Moore is a is
a fine, fine coach, like I think his his history
says that he can build an offense and this team
can be a a very very productive unit. But what
(04:39):
are they going to do on defense? And and and listen,
I just does this does adding adding this piece to
the backfield etn to the backfield? I mean, do you
feel confident in this personnel altogether. Four and one could
be misleading if you ask me so.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Jordan's Scholtz is reporting that the deal for Travis atn
is four years, fifty two million. We don't know the
guarantees and what what that entails. But my one question
about him would be why did it take so long?
Someome just all right, man, here's what we're gonna let
you do. You don't have a favorite team, We're just
gonna like whatever name I pulled, I'd be like, is
(05:23):
there anything else? And throw four names in a hat.
We're gonna shake him up, and you got to pick one.
And it's the NFC South going on?
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Is there any other choice? Like? Gotten to my.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Can I just watch? Can I just watch baseball? In September?
You're like, I don't know, you know, do I really
have to go? No?
Speaker 5 (05:40):
No?
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, that division's rough man Tampa Bay.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Who knows what's gonna happen with Mike Evans, But it
appears that that's a real likelihood that he could be
going out.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
And then you've got it seemed like they were trending up.
Tampa Bay was like a disappointing team. Oh, yeah, it
seem like they have the ability to trend up more
than what they did. It seemed like they cracked their
heads off of a ceiling as well. And then you
look at Carolina, and Carolina gave you glimpses like there
(06:10):
was there was positive moments for Carolina like things to
get excited about. Tetoroa. T Mak is a beast. He
is a beast, and it even gave life to Bryce
Young and what he's able to bring to the table.
This team showed some signs of life this year. In fact,
it would probably be the team I'm highest on in
(06:32):
this division. I love Bejon Robinson. I think they got
some fine football players that they've brought in on that
Atlanta Falcons team. But I just think that there are
two bigger question marks. There are bigger question marks in
my estimation with Michael Pennix in this Atlanta Falcons team
than even with Bryce Young moving forward with this Carolina
(06:53):
Panthers team. And with that being said, I like Baker Mayfield.
I think Baker Mayfield is the best quarterback in that division.
I just don't know where this Tampa Bay team is
going currently after seeing the way they finished the year.
Last year.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
That's just my take. They did resign Kate Oughton, Okay,
tight end Kate Otton is going back to the Bucks.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Yeah. So, and then you've got the league right in
the fringe. They could go up or they could go down,
Like you don't know which way this Tampa team is
going to go this year.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
And then you've got the rumors that are out there
that Twa Takabailo, who was released by the Dolphins earlier today,
potentially could end up in Atlanta, you know, create some
competition there for Michael Pennix junior. A couple of lefties
out there. They should you know, they should do just
bring back every lefty that.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Ever existed in the NFL. So, Tbo, Mike Vic, who else?
Steve Young wasn't wasn't Bloomersiasin wasn't uh Jacksonville Jacksonville quarterback.
Wasn't he a lefty?
Speaker 5 (07:58):
Two?
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Mark Burnell left of course? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Yeah, yeah, Todd Marinovich, Todd, I mean, if we're doing this,
let's do it. Will sure anybody remember him back in
the day? Are you sure? I think so? If he's not,
he should have been.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
A hell of a pool. If you you pulled that
many lefties out. I'm talking about man eleven eleven make
a wish city, all right?
Speaker 3 (08:26):
So so tooy one are the other the other moves
that are making the making the headlines.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Got picked up as anybody picked.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Kenneth Walker is going to Kansas City. Right about Michael Thomas, we.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Were talking about the saying it's anything for Michael Thomas.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
H didn't he beat up some guy who was doing
construction on his street? Michael Thomas? I think I think
he threw a brick at some guys windown. What about
Todd Gurley? Is Todd Gurley's out there running backs? What
about talk you've had that construction worker. You're just trying
to do your job. You've got you've got safety cones
out and an NFL was receiver throws a brick at
your windshield.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
Kylas Kelsey will be returning to Kansas City. Also turn
one year deal.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
This was Indy.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Indy made some moves today. Alec Pierce is back, four year,
one hundred and sixteen million deal, million dollar deal, eighty
four million guaranteed. And then they traded Michael Pittman to Pittsburgh,
which we think could be assigned. Maybe they're trying to
get Aaron Rodgers back, Mike McCarthy, there's a lot of
a lot of stuff aligning there. Elite. Willis heading to Miami,
(09:28):
three year deal, forty five million dollar guaranteed. Lvar is
not convinced he could be the starter. But that's a
lot of money he'll get.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
He'll get what like twenty five or something to that
effect this year this season? Twenty five million. Yeah, what
are the guarantees on his forty five million guarante? Forty
five guarantee but a sixty six total. So we'll see
how it plays out. But does that break down to
like twenty five or something to that effect by the
year now fifteen, by the year a three year deal?
(09:56):
Forty five all right? No, do you not think that
the figure is high enough for it to definitively say
they're not going to do something else or somebody may
compete for that starting job. It's not I don't think
that that's a job security starting quarterback contract. I don't.
I don't. I don't subscribe to it. Hey, for six
(10:18):
starts in your career, it's a good living. I'm not mad.
I'm not mad at it. But that's just like I said,
I looked it up. It does say multi tier. It
actually it says lower tier. It's it's closer to a
lower tier starting quarterbacks contract than it is to to
a top tier.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
I just don't know what. I don't know what to
make a Quinn yours. I mean a lot of people
like him down there. I just I don't know. I
watched him a lot of Texas and I just don't
know that he's a starting caliber NFL quarterback, like long term.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
But why do the guy you compete with us? We
have the conversation of Malik Willis just being an incumbent
starting quarterback with his body of work. How do how
do six starts right? How do you confidently say this
is our guy, this is who we're going with, this
(11:08):
is the start.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Well, I think a lot of it is based on
what this market looks like this year through the draft,
the other quarterbacks that were that were available, and I
think that's why Malik Willis stepped up and was the
bell of the ball, as they say, because I think
people looked at him and said, in comparison to the
other quarterbacks around the league, look if it was me,
(11:31):
and this might be you know a little controversial. I
would have just stuck with Tua, Like, honest to god,
I would have stuck with Tua and said, all right,
maybe there's a new coaching staff. It's easier to get
out of the contract next year. But if this was
all about, you know, we need to you know, we're
trying to win games. I think Tua's done more than
Malik Willis has. Kyler Murray's done more than Malik Willis has.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
What happened in Tennessee, Like, let's let's let's take a
step back here real quick, because we're talking all of
this hype. This is what's happened is a market was
created for Malik Willis through hype because I recall us
being on this show and having conversations about Malik Willis,
and we were excited about Malik Willis's talent coming out
(12:14):
of college, but maybe unproving so on and so forth, YadA, YadA, YadA.
And he goes to Tennessee and he's not in Tennessee anymore.
He ends up and he ends up in Green Bay.
What happened in Tennessee? He was a starter there for
for a moment in time, wasn't he I don't think
I don't think he fared very well there. I'm just
(12:36):
trying to understand where did we get to a point
of where there's this definitive approach to saying that Malik
Willis is the guy in free agency or the guy
that you would have wanted to trade for to bring
to your team to improve your team. I'm not a
buyer that we're not buying that, say.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Ryan Ryan Tannehill was still in Tennessee, so Tannehill was
still there. Milik Willis appeared a couple of times for the.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Titans, Constane Hill wasn't good, and then yeah, well, like
you're behind your you're not starting behind a terrible starting quarterback,
Like and I love will Levice, so all due respect,
but I'm just saying there was the perfect opportunity. If
he's as good as people are saying is, it would
have been a perfect opportunity for him to take over
(13:19):
a team and be the starting quarterback as a franchise guy.
It didn't happen that way, So we didn't happen that
way in Green Bay either. We talked with TJ. Houshman
Zada last hour, who joined us here on Fox Sports Radio.
He shared his thoughts on the miliqu Will assigning in Miami.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
I actually thought he would end up with the Arizona
Cardinals because of the connection of the Lafloors. I just
felt like, Oh, I'm gonna let my little brother. No,
you gotta get him. Do everything in your power to
getting The fact that he didn't end up with the
Arizona Cardinals kind of concerns me. But Half, who was
his defensive coordinator in Green Bay, he saw him every
(13:54):
damn practice, understands his work ethic and what he is
and what he isn't and so this will be an
interesting pairing. I'm assuming throw the ball twenty to twenty
five times a game. They gonna be run heavy.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
So that was TJ. Huschman Zato who joined this last year.
I just don't think anyone should get carried away over
this move, That's all I'm saying. And I would not
be surprised if he doesn't maintain the starting job. And
that's just off of the body of work. Like I know,
he had some positive moments and he played some really
really great moments, some positive football for for Green Bay
(14:32):
when he got his opportunity to play. I just don't
understand why people get so carried away in recency effect,
like he had an opportunity, he thrived and he did well.
But I'm kind of with TJ. If he's as good
as people were making him out to be in this scenario,
(14:53):
why wouldn't you deliver the best quarterback available in this
year's you know, offseason to your brother. Now, granted that
they're both in the NFC, you did deliver him to
or he did go to a AFC team, and that
could be that could play a major part in it.
But I'm just trying to understand what the hooplaw is about.
(15:16):
If he gets into this next situation and he plays
at a high level, then you can have large conversations
about how well they did the Lafleur and company did
with developing him and helping him to find his feet
and his legs in the NFL. And now we have
(15:37):
a franchise guy that has developed somewhere else and had
the opportunity to benefit in a different a different franchise.
It happens. We just watched Sam Donald, which I don't
consider Sam Donald a franchise guy. I consider him to
be He's a good manager as a starter, and listen,
(15:57):
I don't say manager with the idea of lessening who
they are. I think more managers win Super Bowls than
game changers. But what I'm saying is is there are
franchise game managers and franchise game changers, and then there
are starting quarterbacks that are not franchise guys. There are
starting quarterbacks that are not game changers, and they manage.
(16:21):
I don't know what Malik Willis is today. I'm not
trying to come down hard on them. I'm just speaking reality.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
That's why I'm curious to see what the structure of
the contract looks like because you know, and I mentioned
this earlier when Teddy Bridgewater signed a three year deal
with Carolina a few years back, and it was like, oh,
it gave Teddy Bridgewater a three year deal, and then
it turns out, well, they actually got out of it
after one year, that it was really a one year deal.
And so I wonder if Miami looks at this and says,
(16:50):
all right, there's some familiarity there with the GM and
the head coach of Nlik Willis, we bring him in,
let's give it a go. He gets more than six
starts that he's had in his career, and if it
doesn't work out, you know, we'll go back into the
draft next year and try and see if we can,
if we can find a quarterback there. But I think
that Arizona is tanking. I mean, for being honest, like
(17:11):
Arizona's tanking. They would like to be in the quarterback
mix next year, and Miami saw this as an opportunity
to reunite. And that's maybe they feel like they can
do special things with Malik Willis And it remains to
be seen. But I look at Arizona, I go, that's
just a tank job. They're trying to get in the
mix next year. I'll pose this question to both of you.
(17:34):
Would you be disappointed if Malik Willis did not produce?
And would there be any type of outrage if Malik
Willis didn't turn out to be a starter that turns
this Miami Dolphins team.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Into a competitive team. Depends on the structure of the contract,
Like if you're purely basing it off of what they
I mean, it's guaranteed they got to pay him into
forty millions. Yeah, but compared to the ninety nine they're
taking this year from two, I mean, the top ten
quarterbacks are making forty million in one year, right, they're
like in the forties at least for one year. He's
(18:10):
getting it over the duration his guarantees are over the
duration of time. Again, what about you, Would you be
disappointed if Malik Willis didn't have a very very productive year?
Speaker 4 (18:24):
No, because I don't really have that high of expectation
for him that based on what we've seen. He starts like,
I just don't think. I just don't think you can.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
And even if you do have a high ceiling for him,
why would you put yourself too far over your skis
in terms of excitement for the potential of what he
could be. I think this is like a wait and
see moment, I guess, is what I'm saying. It comes
across as I'm being a hateful person towards Malik Willis,
and I'm not. I'm just saying, don't act as though
(18:53):
this is, oh, we got him legal tampering. Yeah it's not.
Willis today like, no, you can't. And they were caring
to lose yourself and that that that.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
And they were probably the only team that was going
to give him a deal like this, and because they
know him so well. I don't I don't think any
I don't know how many teams around the NFL looked
at Malik Wilson said, yeah, yeah, that's the one, Like
we got it because otherwise, do you guys remember Matt Schaub. Yeah,
he was a backup for a couple of years and
then he went to and he was fine.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
He was a pro.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Kyle Shanahan made him and he was a starter and
they were good. They made it past couple of times.
But you know what, like he never was a super
Bowl He was never going to win Super Bowl, right.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
And I think you and you entertained it for a
moment in Houston, you entertained it, like can he get
him to ken Ken shop? Get him there?
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Like also also if you want to do if you
want to do a Packers camp, remember Matt Flynn. Matt
Flynn got that deal with in Seattle. And then they
drafted Russell Wilson with a mid round or a third
round pick or something like that, and Wilson outplayed him,
and they just they said, all right, well, and we
know we commit all this money to them, but we'll
just give the opportunity to the better guy. And unless
they do that in the mid rounds and somebody surprises them.
(20:06):
Malik Wills is going to be your starter at least
for this year.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
For good or for bed. I just think it's pretty
dangerous to get too excited over an unproven entity at
that position. I think that that's ultimately what it comes
down to.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
Well, who knows, Maybe the Dolphins wi wont a playoff game.
It's been about twenty six years, so it's unbelievable. Do

Knox in for Colin. Coming up a little over fifteen
minutes from now. You got to get together, man, grow up.
Coming up a little over fifteen minutes from now, we
are we are going to have another edition of the
Herdline News with a great Greg two that'll be yours here.
(22:16):
As it is legal tampering time in the NFL, so
we've got more from that from around the league. One
of the other teams that was in the news earlier
in the NFL was the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs
going out and signing Kenneth Walker to the contract earlier today.
Kenneth Walker last scene winning an MVP in the Super Bowl.
(22:36):
He now goes back. He goes to the Kansas City Chiefs. There,
departs Seattle, ends up in Kansas City, provides him some
assistance from the run game standpoint was also announced earlier
the expectation as Travis Kelsey will be back with Kansas City.
There was a thought that maybe he could go somewhere
else around the league, but Kansas City made the most
(22:56):
out of it.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Yeah, I just you know, like its brother, maybe maybe
just go do the New Heights podcast, you know, walking
to the Sunset with Taylor Swift. I mean, with all
the Swifties, you could still go in front of large
crowds and groups of people, like, You're not going to
miss the league at all, you know league, So yeah,
he is. I mean, you know you're going to miss
(23:18):
being a player in the league. You're gonna miss that part.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
But it also it wasn't that long ago that there
was real thought that Andy Reid was going to be
gone and Travis Kelsey was going to be gone and all,
and I just I and I said this earlier. I
think Kelsey looked at it and said, I would like
to go out with Patrick Mahomes on the field and
not you know, catching passes from somebody else in a
really disappointing season. But I can't imagine this is more
(23:41):
than this next year.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
At what point does your opinion not matter though to
your employment? Like at some point you got to say,
that's nice that you didn't get to go out on
the terms of catching the ball from Patrick Mahomes, But
how does that really work in terms of how we're
moving forward as a team. I mean, the team did
not have the type of success that was has become
(24:05):
the staple, you know, the calling card of this Kansas
City Chiefs team. And you mentioned Andy Reid, and we
mentioned Andy Reid several times earlier. Here's a question, how
many years do you think Andy Reid has left coaching?
And do we have any breaking news?
Speaker 5 (24:23):
Do it?
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Because we do know this is the legal tamer as
it will.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
I would say, well, no, I would say that you
know when it comes to Andy Reid. Yet it's sixty
seven years old. It feels it feels like, oh I
thought you were a kid in that No, he really is.
It does feel like the end is near. And that's
why I say this dynasty run, the run that the
(24:47):
Kansas City Chiefs have been on. Yeah, it is probably over.
As j Huschman Zata set it himself like it's it's
a rap and there's nothing wrong with that. This is
how This is how normal dynasties go. Not everything is
the Patriots where you have that long break and then
you go back and you want another one. So it
does feel like, you know, the you know, this is
probably the Chiefs have probably peaked, but at least they're
(25:10):
making some moves to, you know, try and improve upon
what was a really disappointing season last year. And now
it is time for more breaking news from around the
NFL with the great great.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Two ye breaking news from Fox Sports.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
All right, guys we would talk to We mentioned his
name earlier, but Mike Evans, the six time pro bowler,
is expected to sign a three year deal with the Niners.
Per Adam Schefter, That's uh, that's interesting.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
I didn't think I can't. It's hard to imagine that
guy anywhere other than Tampa Bay.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
But I mean you think he was closer to retirement
than yeah, think in three more years.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
But potentially hmmm, I mean it's a great, great move
for Mike Evans. I mean, if there's going to be
someone who finds a way to get the most out
of you as as a player, it's going to be
Kyle Shanahan in that group there. So, but they they
they so overachieved this year. I thought they were fools goal. Uh,
(26:14):
they kind of ended up being fools gold in the end.
I mean when they went up against Seattle, it didn't
looked like they were ready for that at all. But
man at his age and making this move, does how
much better? Does that make sense?
Speaker 4 (26:27):
I mean I liked I liked the another veteran presence
with for them.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
I think that's naked. Can he be adorable because he
was potentially turned into the main receiver.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
On which seems the worst injury. Lucky and they do
and it's because of the waste.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Yeah they practice, Yeah, they practiced next to Truernobyl.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
Yeah, go fall apart.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
Yeah, everyone everyone makes it seems like you go practice
with the Niners and your ear melts off. Twenty minutes later,
just all things bizarre. But and listen, you know we
were in San Francisco for the Super Bowl. Thank are
they practice up there?
Speaker 2 (27:01):
This was.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
A quote from from Mike Evans agent. This is from
Derek Gilmour, his agent quote. At this stage of his career,
Mike's goals remained the.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Same as they've always been.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
To compete for another Super Bowl, to play in an
offensive system, to challenge his defenses, and to be in
an environment where he can continue to push himself and
contribute at the highest level. The Buccaneers made it clear
they would have loved for Mike to finish his career
in Tampa and potentially become just the fourth player in
franchise history to spend his entire career as a Buccaneer
and ultimately walk into Canton representing the organization. But Mike
(27:36):
Evans's decision to leave Tampa was never about money. The
Buccaneers were extremely aggressive in their pursuit and presented a
very strong offer, demonstrating how much they value him and
everything he has meant to the franchise. In the end,
this decision simply came down to Mike wanting a new
challenge and a fresh opportunity while he still feels he
has a great deal left to give the game. Tampa
(27:56):
Bay will always be a special place for Mike Evans,
and his respecting gratitude for the organization and its fans
will never change that. From Derek Gilmore, the agent for
Mike Evans, who is great too, he just pointed out
is signing a deal with the forty nine ers.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
Translation, I don't believe in Todd Bowles and what we
got going on here. I had to get up out
of here. Time to go. Let's just get right to
the chase. Yeah, money, y'all offer me a nice contract.
Something new had to happen. You hit it translation, knocked
out of the ballpark. You gotta go, gotta go. If
(28:29):
I'm going to continue to play, I can continue to
play in this whatever this is. So that's that's that's
very interesting. That could be some that could come back
to be damning information. That's probably top three, top four
greatest Tampa Bay Buccaneers of all time. Yeah, he's like
(28:51):
and look definitely receiver, greatest receiver of all time for
Tampa Bay. I don't even know if that's close.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
I mean, you know, he go like he's always reportedly
had a great relationship with Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
They've always you know, seemed to but yeah, that does
we did specifically say the coach you specifically, Yeah, that's
exactly what you don't believe in what this team is
trying to do, and you don't have the time to
be dealing with what they don't.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
Know one hundred percent, because if you go on to
say this was never about money, the Bucks were aggressive
in pursuing us. So if they wanted you and it
wasn't about money, clearly you didn't want them.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
And you go to a team that clearly has the knee. Obviously,
Ayuk was a big conversation this whole teas by what
happened to him. Oh right, exactly, we don't know. We're
still trying to figure it out, you know, and so
you go there. Obviously coaching is the reason why they
did so well this year. I'm sorry, I know players
playing coaches can't play a down and can't win a game,
(29:54):
but the coaching you can't undervalue how how tremendous the
coaching job was done in San Francisco this year and
prior to to that point, I think it's a great
situation for him, maybe he wants to go there. And and
you know, to to Todd Bowles is maybe defense. He's
a defensive minded coach. Cayle Shanahan is an offensive genius.
(30:20):
And to be at the in the twilight of your career,
if you have the opportunity to go play for a
coach like Cayle Shanahan in that system, and you have
the respect and reverence that that Mike Mike Evans brings
to the table, why not. Why not?
Speaker 3 (30:34):
They've They've had a bunch of different coordinators there. I
believe Baker Mayfield's had a different offensive coordinator every season
in Tampa, which means Mike Evans too, is at a
different offensive coordinator every season that Baker Mayfield has been there.
And you know, Mike Evans is looking at this going
I just I'm sorry. I don't want to go through
this again, Like I don't. I don't want to have
to relearn a new system, whether it was Dave Canalis
(30:57):
or Liam Cohen or whoever they brought in. I just
don't want to do this again. And the Todd Bowles
stuff from last year when they decided to bring him back,
I think there were some people that were surprised by
it because they were disappointing, and you know, Bulls called
out the players after a game. He called him out
one time and said, you know, the players got to
do this.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
They got to.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
Step up and and and do what they need to do.
If this can't just be about the coaches, and then
he made a bunch of changes to his coaching staff
to be to come back this year. This feels like
if this next year is underwhelming for Tampa again, that's
a teardown rebuild. Like it feels like that one is
a teardown rebuild, and now you're gonna have to do
(31:39):
this upcoming season without ye.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
Chefter just tweeted it wasn't his decisional League was not
about the money. The Bucks were very aggressive and trying
to keep the strong offer. It came down to a
desire for a new challenge as he enters the last
years of his career. Yeah, he wants to win another
Super Bowl and the Niners are close to that than
the Bucks are.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
In his mind, so you think, so I gotta go.
That's what I said. I gotta go. It's not about
the money.
Speaker 5 (32:09):
Man.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
They pursued me. They were aggressive. Mike was at the
front door with all his bed like you need to
stay Like, yeah, I'm gonna get on out here, man,
I'm gonna get on my way. I just don't I'm
gonna go practice next to a nuclear reactor. I don't
know that. I'm totally convinced that San Fran is closer
(32:31):
to a Super Bowl than interesting than Tampa Bay. In fact,
I would think that the easier, the easier journey towards
getting to the playoffs and positioning yourself would be Tampa Bay.
Speaker 4 (32:44):
You do know what Tampa Bay's record was last year, right?
Speaker 2 (32:46):
I do?
Speaker 5 (32:47):
I do?
Speaker 4 (32:47):
They finished behind the Panthers.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
I understand. But if I'm looking at these teams, do
you want to see the Rams next year? I think
the Rams are probably in the NFC The best team
outside of Seattle.
Speaker 5 (33:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Whoever won the NFC title game was winning the Super Bowl.
Yeah so, and listen, I get it, San Fran did
an excellent job of keeping pace, But I'm not looking
at at them as being being in competition to even
get out of the the NFC West.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
And look, Kittle's coming back off an injury. Who knows
how that's gonna look. I mean, you know, not everybody's
Jason Tatum where they can come off in Achilles and
just you know, have to have the weekend he had
Sons the Niners.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
The Niners overcame, be clear, they overcame and won against
all odds this year. I give them all the respect
and all the credit for being able to do such
a bang up job of winning and winning and continuing
to win games under the circumstances of which they did.
(34:02):
But am I a buyer in San fran being a
much better team than next year under the current roster.
I'm not. Does Mike Evans take them to a next
level of being that team that could actually win the
NFC West, I don't think so. I think it's a Seattle.
(34:24):
I think it is a Seattle and a Rams a
RAMS division right now. And obviously Arizona is doing whatever
they're doing. If they're tanking, they're tanking. So then you
have the San Francisco forty nine ers, who will fight.
I think they will fight diligently. I think they will
do an excellent job of trying to keep pace. But
(34:44):
I just do not buy the fact that this is
a team that's hitting towards the Super Bowl. You know how,
bad Tampa is that he chose to go there and
they ain't that much better than Tampa. Mike Evans Like,
Mike Evans is like what.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
Were you guys saying about the state taxes in California?
Speaker 2 (35:00):
Yeah, I'll go there. I'll take my chances there. There's
also that.

it's been an exciting day. That's been pretty good.
Speaker 4 (36:56):
This is the this is the show. I'll tell you
what this shift is wild. This is the legal tampering period. Sorry,
right at nine o'clock at showtime. And it's been been
crazy ever since. We were talking about the Mike Evans deal.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Three years.
Speaker 4 (37:09):
The details are out, three year deal, up to sixty
million dollars. No word yet on the guaranteed money.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
But maybe it doesn't matter. Maybe it does not about
the money, you know, it's not right, It's about the
new opportunity. Yeah, So there you go. I'm all right
by getting away from Todd Bowles. So what it's about,
I mean, that's what he's saying it, I mean, but
he's getting away from something. If it's not about the money,
after you, you're the greatest football player, one of them
in the history of the friends. I love Tampa. I
(37:37):
love it here.
Speaker 5 (37:38):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
They were aggressive. They wanted me back. Great weather, no
state taxes, gotta got to go.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
Say what it is, all right, So there was a
so this kind of got buried. Guys from Friday. We
were going to talk about this and everything started happening,
but Max Crosby traded to the Yeah late Friday night,
two first round picks. According to Jeremy Fowler, there was
a in his story from over the weekend, there was
an unnamed source that's a quote the Raiders weren't going
(38:11):
to trade Crosby to the Patriots because no way Tom
was sending Max to Mike Rabel, his former Patriots team.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
I mean, that's shady if that's true. Really, why I
don't blame him? I mean, well, I set them to
an AFC team, So if you're going to send them
in the same in the same conference, what does it matter?
What doesn't matter? I mean, you know you're going hate
on like you I just don't At some point, is it,
how petty is it? Like all of y'all had great
(38:40):
success as Patriots? Like how petty is that? Like Tom Brady?
You're Tom Brady. You won. That's one player, and that
the guy that you're talking about, which is your former teammate,
Like where's the hate?
Speaker 3 (38:57):
I mean, you know, he told you didn't have a
dog in the fight, and I'm not going to put
one in.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Its true, I don't have a dog in this fight.
I just don't think I'm one too.
Speaker 4 (39:11):
I don't think they look at it dog to I
don't think he would look at the Ravens anywhere near
like the Patriots do.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
It's just it's it's the same conference, right, Why would
you not. I don't want to send a player in
the conference.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
I wonder if there's something going on with him and
in New England's relationship. Well, I just I wonder, you know,
when he says, I, you know, don't put a dog
in the fight, Jeremy Fowler from.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
And that's that's that's a that's a credible source, that story.
Speaker 4 (39:51):
Otherwise, Yeah, I'm just kidding.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Yeah right, I'm just trying to understand. If you're going
to trade the guy and get them out of there
to get draft capital, then do it. I don't care
if it.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
I don't care if it's division, I don't care if
it's if if you're the Giants, trade him to the
Jets and you share the same building, or the Chargers
and the Rams, if you I would trade my player
to whatever was going to get me the best offer,
if that was the best offer.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
The Giants gave Saquan away to the Eagles, the Eagles
going win the Super Bowl the next year. Did they
win next year? Yeah, they did the next year. That's
not just I mean, you can't. This just creates a
different level of the conversation of shade. If that's if
that is true that the Patriots won, if Max Crosby
(40:44):
wanted to be in and Tom Brady would have no
parts of that, that's shady, man. Come on, what else
we got to We got take quickly US Mexico.
Speaker 4 (40:53):
WBC tonight, Paul on the Mound.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
I got you. There's WC in my house every night.
You don't need Let's go. It's been exciting. I love it.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
It would be real torn h You know the the
in laws are Mexican.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
I'm I'm an American, I'm pale and four who you're for?
No a blah
Speaker 5 (41:16):
M hmm.
