we were talking earlier in the show and kind of
(00:55):
opened up the show discussing... you know, the situation in
college football, look, man, the Michigan Western Michigan fiasco is
kind of a microcosm of, of what has gone on
in college football off season. It just, none of it
makes any sense. They found an extra second line around
the replays weren't in sync. Like all the other, like
(01:17):
all the stuff that you could possibly imagine would have
to take place in order for them to find a
nether play in that game to give to Michigan and
And to win it on a Hail Mary, which, by
the way, impressive Hail Mary. That was that was awesome.
Probably shouldn't have been allowed, but nonetheless, here we are.
And so whether you want to blame the Big Ten,
(01:37):
you want to blame the broadcast, the cameras like there's just,
you know, it's. It just felt to me like that
was par for the course for what college football and
what has happened in college football offseason. A lot of
it just doesn't make any sense. A lot of it
is playing out in the courts. You got gamblers. You
(01:58):
got scandal. You got NFL players wanting to go back
to college. You got coaches involved in all sorts of stuff.
And so, yes, of course, one of the games that
would be talked about, especially on the Monday after this
wild weekend of college football, which is not over, by
the way, which is not over, would be the Michigan-Western
(02:21):
Michigan game. That's exactly what you would expect would take place.
That right there. Something like that. Because, you know, in
the NFL, it's a little bit more buttoned up, a
little bit more polished, a little bit more, you know,
you're not, maybe they're going to figure out. In college football,
they'll almost kind of lean into the conspiracies a little bit,
(02:44):
you know, kind of lean into that. And so that
play is going to be viewed and looked at for
years to come. That's going to be one of those
that they're talked about. If you're a Western Michigan fan,
you're going to say, hey, remember where you were when.
Just like when you were a Michigan fan and you
(03:05):
lost to App State. Do you remember where you were when?
That was one of those moments. In what was a
really sloppy game that Western Michigan probably should have won.
That had an extra play added to it when it
probably shouldn't have. That went the way of the Wolverines.
(03:25):
And I've... just in looking into the different conclusions and
reasons and why this happened and would this have happened
if it was Western Michigan who was attempting to Hail
Mary the second, like all there was, you know, yeah,
it showed zero seconds on the clock, but in reality
it was more like 0.9 seconds on the clock. So
(03:46):
hold on a second. What? Like literally hold on a second.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
What?
Speaker 1 (03:52):
What?
Speaker 2 (03:53):
That's what we're doing to justify this whole thing? It's bananas?
It's weird? But what you probably would have expected based
on the offseason we've had in the world of college football,
that game, how it ended, made a ton of sense
(04:13):
based on what we've seen this entire offseason. Jonas Knox
here on the Herd Fox Sports Radio. And based on
what we've seen the entire offseason from the 49ers, it
would make sense that they would start their season in Australia.
I'll be honest with you. It would make a ton
of sense. Kyle Shanahan spoke about the opportunity for the
(04:35):
Niners to open the season in Australia because he wasn't
real crazy about the fact that they could have gone
to L.A., for a de facto home game against the
Rams like they get every year in Los Angeles. Instead,
they're starting off the year In Melbourne, here was Kyle Shanahan.
It's cool for us.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
We always have an advantage. I see it as one
home game a year in L.A., just the way our
fans are and take over that stadium. So it's disappointing
to let them off the hook and get.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Them out of that.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
But I have a feeling, knowing how our fans roll,
I have a feeling they won't be much different here.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I expect to have a good showing.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
I wouldn't say it hit me right on the plane,
but after being here for a couple days, this is
the right time to be here. It's the right place
to be, and it's the right team.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
To go against.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
I mean... Like we're starting the season off in Australia.
What are we doing here? Like, it just, let me
really like, like the Patriots and Seahawks are kicking off
on a Wednesday. What? Okay. All right. Sure.
Speaker 5 (05:37):
Sure.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
But again, when you think about it, Probably the perfect
place for the 49ers to kick off their year based
on the offseason. Much like college football, based on the offseason,
probably the result that you would get in Ann Arbor.
Based on what we saw this offseason, and much like
what we saw this offseason with the Niners, probably what
(06:00):
you would expect to get. Just so we're keeping track here,
I just want to know that we're all on the
same page. We need hard... Physical evidence, and we're all
on the same page here as we track the stories
of the 49ers. The Brendan Ayuk debacle. Still not sure
(06:29):
what's going on there. Still not sure who contractually has
his rights.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Think it's the Niners. Maybe it's not. Brendan Ayuk, who.
Posts all sorts of stuff to social media. He likes
to speed past Levi's Stadium. And then if there's a
warrant issued for his arrest, likes to take pictures next
to his car at a racetrack. Talked about John Lynch
(06:56):
and all the other things that came along with it. Just,
you know, that's a weird story in itself. That's weird.
That's a weird one. Weird, weird, weird. See, next up here.
You know, Kyle Shanahan and that whole car accident thing.
That's still a little bizarre how that whole thing took place.
(07:23):
Took a long time for that story to come out.
Took a long time for details of that story to
come out. And, you know, him calling reporters aside to
explain the story and take accountability for it. And it
wasn't her fault. And you can't blame her. And then
you've got, well, there's no body cam footage of it.
(07:43):
And the police officer on the scene used discretion to,
you know, not let Tim go. But his phone slipped
behind him as he reached for it. It was a
driverless car. It was.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
Huh?
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Huh?
Speaker 2 (07:56):
But okay.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
All right?
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Okay. All right? That's weird. Just like the Brandon Ayuk
story is weird. And then you get to Jed York.
Shows up at a trailer park in Ohio. In some
gym shorts. By the way, vet move. That's a vet move.
(08:20):
That's somebody who's been down that road before.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
All right?
Speaker 2 (08:24):
There's a reason why some guys roll into a strip
club in those type of basketball shorts, okay? I'm just
telling you. It's the same reason why that guy also
at the urinal goes one pant leg up instead of
just doing it the proper way. Easy access. So that's
a vet move by Jed York. But he shows up
to this trailer park. He's got $ 140 cash on him.
(08:48):
And he gets popped for trying to get a prostitute.
Reached out three times. You know, kind of a weird
story for the 49ers. And then there's all those injuries
that have taken place. Not ideal. All the injuries that
have taken place there. Everybody seems to be banged up.
And why would that be? Oh, no, I don't know.
Because the fact that they practice next to a nuclear reactor.
(09:11):
Also kind of odd. kind of strange. So yes, it
would probably be better to have that game be in LA.
Speaker 6 (09:22):
It would.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
And yes, it is a de facto home game for
the Niners every time they come to LA. It just is.
If you want to criticize the Rams fans, that's fine.
But here's the reality of how this stuff works in
Southern California when it comes to the NFL. The NFL
(09:44):
left L.A. years and years and years ago. So because
they left. People in L.A. either already had a team
that they rooted for or as they came up. started
rooting for others. All right. Well, if this team's going
to leave LA, screw them. I'm not going to fall
(10:04):
into St.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
Louis.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Get out of here. Not following them. I'll just cheer
for the Raiders or the Niners are in California. That
works too. I'll just cheer for the Niners or Hey,
the Cowboys are really good. I'll just cheer for the
Cowboys because So the fact that the Niners take over
Rams games, it's not really that surprising. That fan base
(10:27):
is a loyal fan base. Whether they're going to go
all the way to Australia, I have no idea. But
that fan base is a loyal fan base. And there's
a lot of Niner fans in Southern California. So I
know that that seems like kind of an insult and
it seems disrespectful that the Niners would take over Rams.
(10:48):
Your stadium, your giant gazebo in downtown L.A., I know
it seems like that's a real odd thing to happen,
but it's not. That's just the way that football and
NFL fans have been groomed out here in L.A. That's
the way it is. There was no team here for
a while, so it's going to take time to develop
(11:10):
this quote-unquote home field advantage. It's a lot of people
who just were looking around for teams to root for.
I had a buddy, had no NFL team to root for,
started getting into the NFL, had no team to pick
from because there was no LA team. He literally chose
the Browns because they were the worst team on Madden.
To this day, diehard Browns fan. But that was because
(11:33):
there was no team here. So look, you criticize the
Rams if you want, you can go down that road
if you want, but that's just the facts. So yeah,
Kyle Shanahan looks at it like a home game. Of
course he should. But I would say starting the year
off in Australia makes a ton of sense based on
what's happened there all offseason. And you know what? For
(11:55):
everybody involved, maybe it's better they start it off in Australia.
Get as far away from Chernobyl as you can. Okay?
There's no nuclear reactors. There's no driverless cars that, you know...
Yank your phone away from you as you reach behind
you to try and get it. There's not going to
(12:17):
be a Brandon Ayuk situation speeding by your stadium. And
I don't think there's any trailer parks in Melbourne. Maybe
there are. I have no idea. I'm not sure. But
I just think that if you're Kyle Shannon in the Niners,
I don't know, maybe a trip to Australia does make
some sense, considering what the offseason looked like. Just like
(12:41):
that game in Ann Arbor the other night and the
conclusion of it makes a lot of sense, considering the
offseason the college football had. Add the Jonas Knox on X.

Herd here on Fox Sports Radio. We are going to
(13:02):
hear from somebody in the NFL who has decided, you
know what? I think I've figured out how this whole
thing works, right? I think I've figured out how this
whole thing works at the quarterback position, especially with this organization.
And that's yours right here on FSR.

News coming up here in about 10 minutes from now.
So Todd Monkey, the head coach of the Cleveland Browns.
(14:24):
Speaking of dysfunctional, Todd Monk and the head coach of
the Cleveland Browns, he did talk about team captains. Team
captains as the Browns embark on the 2026 season. And
one of those team captains is going to be good
old Deshaun Watson, QB1 in Cleveland. Here was the head
coach in Cleveland discussing.
Speaker 7 (14:43):
I think we have a fairly young team. I'm not
ready to name guys that are permanent for us. I
do think it's cool for players to go out for
the coin toss. I think it's really cool. I think
most teams have more leaders than just four or five guys.
I just believe that. I believe that. With each game,
you reward guys for the week that they've had, and
(15:04):
that's what we're going to do. We have Rex as
our special teams, Deshaun, Zion on offense, Tyson, and Mason.
Speaker 6 (15:13):
Those are going to be our.
Speaker 7 (15:14):
Five captains for this week.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
So he's doing the rotating captain move. And look, he
would never admit to this, but I would love to
sit down with Todd Munkin. I'd love to sit down
with him and be like, hey, man, between you and I,
would you be rotating captains if you were pretty sure
(15:36):
that the starting quarterback was going to be the same
starting quarterback the entire season? Would you? Because I got
a funny feeling that you wouldn't. I got a funny
feeling like this was just all kind of done to
make it make sense after the fact. That Todd Mungin's like, yeah,
(15:57):
but what if he struggles? You know, what if Deshaun
Watson goes out there and it looks a lot like
what it looked like in the preseason or for that matter,
a lot like what it looks like since he's been
a Cleveland Browns quarterback and he struggles. And next thing
you know, I got to make a move and I
got to put somebody else in. Like that kind of
(16:17):
creates a little bit of an awkward situation to where
what now you just you remove the the sea off
him and put it on the other guy and then
and then go from there. Just creates a little bit
of an awkward dynamic. You remember that was one of
the slip ups that Kevin O'Connell had in discussing the
(16:37):
Vikings quarterback situation because there was the initial. Kyler Murray, J.J.
McCarthy discussion. And when Kyler Murray was asked about how
they've worked together, it was, you know, very professional and
very by the book. And when J.J. McCarthy was asked
about it, it just seemed like, you know, the husband
(16:58):
who walked in on the pool boy. And then ultimately
that guy ended up renting a room from him later
that year. It's like, honey, do you got to bring Like,
do you have to bring your food home? Did you
need to get that to go? It's got to be
here the entire time?
Speaker 6 (17:16):
And J.J.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
McCarthy was really uncomfortable and really, really annoyed at the
whole situation. And it was telling. And so when Kevin
O'Connell was asked about it afterwards, oh, look, I just,
you know, listen, I mean, you know, J.J., you know,
as a, you know, as a former team, as a
team cat, just slipped up. Because you realize, yeah, it's
(17:37):
probably not great if the starter is turns into the
backup and there's still the captain there. So I just,
I look at the Browns quarterback situation. That's kind of a, again,
par for the course when it comes to the Cleveland Browns,
like this, this whole thing, this handling of it all, this,
(18:00):
this major discussion that we've had people wondering, you know,
what is Deshaun Watson's real status with the team? Well,
he's a team captain.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Oh, well, good.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Must be for good. Now we're doing weekly rotating captains. Okay.
All right. Nice job, coach. Already traded away Miles Garrett.
People trying to figure out why Dylan Gabriel didn't get
more of a shot. There was the Browns. coaching search
which was odd guys having to go through psychic evaluations
(18:31):
or whatever it was to try and get the job
and so here we are and the browns are getting
ready for the season and they at least do have
their starting quarterback for week one and that starting quarterback
is deshaun watson and he's going to be captain but
that may change next week who knows because who knows
gonna who's gonna be quarterback next week for the just
(18:57):
think about this you go you make the move you
bring in deshaun watson you gave up just a ton
to try and bring him in he gets there he
didn't play initially because he was suspended 11 games for
that whole um you know that whole massage fiasco that
(19:19):
he was into that whole fetish that he had And
so you got all that. You got to work through.
Then he gets on the field. The results were underwhelming. Then,
you know, he gets hurt and then hurt again and
then hurt again. You got to bring in Joe Flacco
off the couch. Joe Flacco gets you to the playoffs,
but you get annihilated in the first game. Just the
(19:43):
whole thing was disaster upon disaster upon disaster. Deshaun Watson,
every time he talks, he pisses off the fan base.
they're defacing the jim brown statue out in front of
the place then he gets on the field this preseason
it doesn't look all that good then he says hey
what do you expect from the fan base he said
i don't care and then lays into him afterwards and
(20:07):
then gets named starting quarterback But don't worry, he's only
going to be the captain for the first week because
we're not sure we're going to rotate these things through.
We're going to have rotating captains. That's how we're going
to play this game. I'm telling you, Deshaun Watson is
about to go light this league up. And it's going
to be awesome to see how they handle that. And
(20:30):
the best part is, even if that's just a pipe
dream or a fairy tale, this whole back and forth
discussion about Shador... and Deshaun and Dylan Gabriel a little bit.
And all of that's a Todd Monk and all of
this stuff that has happened. Jimmy has some saying, we
(20:50):
made a mistake. We've got buyer's remorse a year ago.
Then he's at Deshaun's wedding. This all, all of this
stuff that has happened as everyone just kind of circling
around wondering, Hey, is Shador going to get a shot?
How's this thing going to play out to Sean Watson?
Final year of the worst deal in the history of
the league is And the best part is, all of
(21:15):
these guys may be on different rosters at this time
next year. You might have a whole brand new cast
of quarterbacks competing for the job. Because if they're bad enough,
they're taking a quarterback. That's happening. So it's almost like
they're just providing you short-term stories to keep them afloat.
(21:35):
And then you're just going to toss them aside and
then worry about the QB position next year. So whatever
the decision is, whatever, you know, they're going to they're
going to keep Deshaun there as the start of the
entire time. Shador is going to get a shot. Who knows?
It just feel like this is on borrowed time. Like
either Deshaun Watson is going to go out and light
the league on fire or the Browns are going to
(21:56):
be in the same spot next year looking for a quarterback.
It's just the way things work there. at the Jonas
Knox on X at Jonas Knox show on Instagram. And
you can hang out with us as always on the
I heart radio app. It is Jonas Knox sitting in
for Colin here on the herd coming up here a
little over 15 minutes from now. There's a, somebody who
(22:18):
was off to a really good start in the NFL
and And it took one season for them to ruin
it all. You'll hear why again coming up here a
little over 15 minutes from now. But right now it
is time for the Herdline News.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
No, no, no, no. Turn on the news.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
This is the Herdline News.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
Patrick Suika, what the hell do we got?
Speaker 5 (22:43):
Alright, so we mentioned earlier in the show that Tua
being named the starting quarterback for the Falcons. Well, Jonas,
Kevin Stefanski actually had a little press conference this morning
talking about the decision, and he actually said he kind
of has some blinders when it comes to any long-term decisions,
and actually, you know what?
Speaker 2 (22:59):
It sounded a little something like this.
Speaker 6 (23:01):
I'm a blinders person. I got the blinders on, so
I see week one in front of me, and after
this one, then we'll start on the next one and
those type of things, so I don't think it's fair
to really go past this week on anything related to
our football team.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
All right, dude.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Why don't you just say, hey, man, listen, two has
sucked so far. Like, just it's been awful. Like, I
know he can't say it. It's like Todd Monken. Like,
he can't. I know he can't say it. But does
anybody really think that Kevin Stefanski would have blinders on
if Tua had gone out and performed at the level
they thought he was capable of performing at thus far
(23:40):
this offseason? Like, would you have blinders on? Michael Penix Jr.
is walking around on a bum knee. It's his third surgery,
third knee surgery. He's not healthy. And Tua Tagovailoa, who's
had every advantage this entire offseason, and still this is
(24:01):
the approach Kevin Stavansky has taken. Unless there's some sort
of an edict being handed down from the front office, like, hey,
this is not over until Michael Penix Jr. has a
real opportunity and is fully healthy. Unless that's the case.
But if that's where we're at, then why did you
go out and sign Tua to begin with? Like, if
we're at that point, then why don't you just, like,
(24:22):
let Cooper Rush as the backup? Like, let Cooper Rush start.
What do you care? If this is all a throwaway
year anyways, what does it matter? So Kevin Sivansky saying,
I'm a blinders person. I have blinders on. I'm only
thinking about week one. Yeah, but wouldn't it be nice
if you could just let everybody else in the building know, like, hey, man,
here's your starter for the year. Instead, we're just going
(24:45):
to do week by week.
Speaker 6 (24:46):
All right.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
So it's a platoon situation. And look, I said this,
speaking of the Browns, if you're the Falcons, you need
to identify and acknowledge what it is that you're good at.
You need to acknowledge what you're good at. And sometimes
you need to acknowledge what you're into. And some people
(25:07):
are into certain things. Some people do have fetishes. Some
people are into stuff like that. Some people like feet.
I think it's weird. Some people are into that. Some people,
you know, like to they like to go to yoga.
Some people like to, you know, go on walks. Some
people like to jog and marathon. Some people like to
(25:28):
lift weights. Some like some people are into stuff like
they some people like to do pottery. I think, you know.
Tommy Lee's got a bonsai garden. People are into different things.
Whatever you're into, whatever floats your boat. If you're the Falcons,
why don't you just admit to what you're into? Left-handed quarterbacks.
Just say it. Just say it. And go make a
(25:49):
move and bring in Dylan Gabriel. Hey Stefanski, you coached
that guy in Cleveland. You gave him opportunities. Bring him in.
Be the all lefty quarterback team. Just go that route.
If we're going to play this game and do this
charade where Stefanski is going to say, well, I'm a
blinders guy. I'm going one week at a time and
I can't think past that. OK, fine. If that's how
(26:10):
we're doing it, why don't you just rotate through lefty
quarterback after lefty quarterback? As far as I know, those
are the only three I can think of. There's no
reason all three shouldn't be on the same roster. If
this is how we're going to play this game, if
you're turning it into a mockery like this, if you're
turning it into, I have no plan past week one,
then let's just go all the way with the weirdness.
(26:32):
Let's play this game all the way through. Because that's
how bad it's gone. Clearly, with Tua as the quarterback,
the guy getting the first opportunity, that we're at game week...
and you're not ready to name a starter for the season,
you're only thinking about week one. Not a great sign
(26:52):
for the Atlanta Falcons. What else we got, Patty?
Speaker 5 (26:55):
All right, so Jonas, I don't know about you, but
I'm a big red zone guy in the NFL, you know,
watching all the... Seven hours of commercial-free football, as they
used to say, at least, with Scott Hansen. Well, Scott
Hansen actually has come out to say that for this
year's edition of Red Zone, yes, we're still going to
have ads like we did last year, but he did add...
(27:16):
We are going to have a lot less ads and
it still won't be seven hours of commercial free. It's
going to be a lot less. And I quote, he says,
I can tell you from where we were ended last year,
there will not be more. In fact, actual ads that
you see, there will be fewer of what we call
15 second commercials with the audio going in the product
and whatnot. And also he threw in another caveat. On
(27:37):
the plus side of this, Red Zone viewers will still
never miss any touchdowns. Any ads will be going as
they're leading up to it or nothing crazy on any touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
So just so I'm clear, they're still going to show
every single touchdown.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
It's still going to be the same Red Zone where
when a team gets to the Red Zone, they'll go
over to that game to see how it turns out.
So you're going to have all the same access that
you had before as far as games go, like the
actual games that people care about.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
So why are people bitching about this? Who cares if there's, like,
what does it matter if there's ads? What are we
talking about? Does it make the channel less awesome? Oh,
it was ad-free before. Okay, well, it's not now. I
don't know what to tell you.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Hey, dude, what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (28:20):
I don't know what to tell you. Yeah, there's ads. Like, what?
What are we talking about here? Dana White said the
same thing when the UFC went to Paramount +. When
the UFC went to Paramount Plus, people complained, like, the
first UFC pay-per-view they had. Something like, yeah, you know,
(28:41):
people were, you know, kind of not happy with some
of the ads that were going on at, you know,
for Paramount Plus. And Dana White's like, pay-per-views used to
be $ 80. What are you complaining about? Like, because you
had to see a couple of ads? You didn't miss
any fights. People just want to complain, man. Who cares?
You're going to get to see every game. That's how
(29:05):
this stuff gets paid for. You got to pay for
this stuff. And if you want the access to that,
you got to pay for it.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
I know.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Listen, I'm with everybody else out here on the West Coast.
We used to get Andrew Siciliano. That used to be
our red zone guy because they would split. I think
one half of the country got Scott Hanson. The other
got Andrew Siciliano. Did a great job. I get it. Like, yeah,
but there was no commercials back then. Okay, well, there
are now. I don't think i don't know what what
(29:35):
do you want you're not missing any of the games
like you're not there's no no problem here like you're
just gonna have to see a couple of ads you
know if i were scott hansen listen you gotta do
the opposite of what USC does. Anybody that's criticizing you,
(29:55):
anybody that's complaining or criticizing you and whatever your product
looks like now as opposed to what it used, just
ignore them. Just let them disappear. Everybody's got something to
complain about. Everybody's got something to gripe about. Nobody can
just sit back and appreciate where we are in the
sports calendar. We got football coming up. We got actual
(30:18):
football coming up. Do you know how many awful WNBA
stories you've had to sit through over the past several months? Awful, awful,
awful stories. Like, we've been through a lot, man. Like all, like,
you know, stories in the NBA that were just boring,
(30:42):
but were talked about at nauseam. Like, we've been through
a lot. So take your red zone exactly how they
give it to you. If there's a couple of ads,
they throw in a couple of more, stop complaining. Football's here.
And you're going to get to see all of it.
We have gone through the mud. We have worked really,
(31:02):
really hard. We've had to get law degrees to try
and figure out who's eligible in college football. There's been
a lot of stuff that we've had to go through.
And football's finally here. I'm not going to let a
couple of ads on the Red Zone channel deter me
from trying to enjoy some football. I'm not. I'm not
going to complain. So Scott Hanson, ignore what anybody tells you.
(31:24):
People just want to gripe and bitch and moan about
all sorts of stuff. It's not going to happen. Football's here.
We've had to discuss a lot of stuff that many
of us do not like discussing or don't want to discuss.
And that's why I came up with a segment on
my Saturday show called Do You Care? Because there are
a lot of stories out there that people force feed
(31:46):
the audience about. Over the course of a year, you know,
and you know what network I'm talking about. There's a
lot of people that try and, you know, throw stuff
up on a chyron and ask these weird questions about
storylines in sports. And I just tell you, I don't
care about that story. It doesn't mean anything to me.
I couldn't care less. I don't care. I care about football.
(32:06):
And if you want to throw a couple of ads
in the red zone, all right, to try and pay
some bills, I get it. Makes all the sense in
the world to me. And that's a Herdline News.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
Well, that's the news.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
And thanks for stopping by.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
The Herdline News.

that as well, too, in the IG stories portion of
the Instagram page at Jonas Knox show that is at
Jonas Knox show on Instagram. I was thinking about this
(34:40):
before we get to this story about somebody spoiling their
good reputation in a short amount of time. The the
Michigan Western Michigan story. Explanation from the cameras not being
synced up together and what you saw on the broadcast
and just sort of Just the confusion as to how
that could have been missed and why that's a Elon
(35:04):
Musk is putting rockets into space all the time Every
time I look up in the sky, there's another one
like all we walk around With a supercomputer in our
pocket and That can do anything. Pay for things. Film things.
Record things.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
All of it.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
Anything you could possibly want. A computer in your pocket.
We can't make the clock on the TV the same
as the clock that they're looking at?
Speaker 1 (35:37):
What?
Speaker 2 (35:41):
I just I don't I don't get it. I really don't.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
Why?
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Why is that? Sometimes there's some things that have some
charm to them, like the chain gang. Don't ever get
rid of the chain gang. I love the chain gang.
There's something about those guys coming out there stretching the
chain out. It's the theatrics that come along with it.
It's like in boxing. Whenever there's a bad decision in
boxing or the UFC, there's people that have been pounding
(36:08):
the table for, oh, man, we've got to have open
scoring so we know guys aren't going to get screwed
over at the end of this whole thing. We've got
to have open scoring. In between rounds, you've got to
announce the score of the fight. And they've done it
from time to time. And let me just tell you this.
It sucks. And here's why it sucks. There's the element
of surprise. I'd almost rather... get screwed over on a
(36:31):
bad decision if there was a surprise attached to it,
as opposed to knowing what the scores were going into
each round. Like, I'd rather have that. There's just something
about the surprise and it's an awful decision. And there's
something about that chain game that comes out and you're like,
oh my God, they got the first down. No, they're
stretching it out further. They're There's some charm to that.
(36:56):
You don't want to use technology all the way. You
want to still hold out and let those guys sit
there and make a little bit of money on the
sidelines and bring out the chain once or twice a game.
There's some charm to it. How we can't get the
clock synced up together is beyond me. That's crazy. Which
makes you wonder, maybe they were and they just found
(37:17):
that 9 tenths of a second to throw back on
there to give Michigan the win. But again... More of
the stories we talked about today. It's the perfect start
to a college football season that had the wild off
season that it did. All right. Speaking of college football,
(37:37):
LSU look great. Lane Kiffin can't help himself but be
a wise ass. We all know that. Everybody's good here.
We're all good. It's not all good for LSU alum
Jaden Daniels. To add that whole Jersey number five Fiasco
(38:00):
From a few weeks back Which Is still kind of
a crazy thing to think about That he'd be Number
five As insulted as he was I don't know if
you can play that by the way Chris Because you
might piss him off Like he's got the rights to
number five So anybody that I'm hearing that the Celtics
might actually take down Garnett's number in the rafters Because
they don't want to piss off Jaden Daniels So you
(38:21):
gotta Everybody gotta be careful here When he used the
number five. My son's five. I had to lie and
tell people. The whole thing was ridiculous. So when they
showed Jaden Daniels' graphic during the game at LSU, they booed.
The fans poofed. They'll cheer Lane Kiffin. He's a god.
(38:47):
Jaden Daniels, they booed. So it doesn't stop there. Patrick
Peterson was talking with Tyron Matthew on the In the
Bayou with Tyron Matthew podcast. And he gave his thoughts
on the Jaden Daniels number five ridiculous story that came
(39:09):
out recently.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
Man, I thought it was a little whack and lame,
to be honest with you, man, especially with him. It
was bad timing for one. You know, you have so
much so many things that you need to worry about,
you know, as a quarterback, as a professional quarterback and
coming off an injury at that. You know what I mean?
I feel like that was something that. shouldn't have been
(39:31):
thought of. I hear that, you know, he didn't like
the way that he's been treated, the way he's not
getting the same treatment that Joe. Burroughs getting. I don't
know the truth to that. But at the end of
the day, LSU has a way about going about things.
But at the end of the day, I thought it
was lame. I thought it was lame. I thought it
was a little childish for him to go and say,
(39:54):
you can't use my number.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Man, how the tables have turned on Jaden Daniels in
a short amount of time. His rookie year, He was
the guy, the next big thing, the star of the NFL.
He could do no wrong. The organization could do no wrong.
I mean, it was Dan Quinn. Once we got rid
(40:19):
of that wretched Daniel Snyder, we're going to figure this
thing out and get the quarterback position figured out. And
they take him at number two. And it was like, oh,
that's a team to reckon with. And then you get
into last year and they were just dreadful. And Jaden
Daniels was banged up and hurt. And then you got
(40:41):
this whole story that pops up. Even like alum of LSU, like,
what are you doing, dude? Like, nobody's a fan of this.
There's some talk about, you know, the involvement of his
mom during this whole thing. That there was, maybe that's
what kind of sparked this. But Jaden Daniels, you know,
(41:03):
trying to, trying to, get away from this story, but
still bothered. And, you know, you like Joe Burrow, the
way he was treated, but what about the way I'm treated?
Like it is. And now we've gone from the next
big thing and the organization on the rise to Dan
Quinn might get fired this year. That's a, that's a
(41:25):
real conversation to have. And we went from man, the
commander's Got the best quarterback at number two. What the
hell were the Bears doing? Boy, did they butcher that.
We've gone from that story to, I don't know how
this is all going to shape out. Are we sure
Jaden Daniels is focused on the right things? Meanwhile, Caleb
(41:48):
Williams can do no wrong. Him and Ben Johnson can
do no wrong. It's a complete switch. Everything has changed.
It's just... Like there's more. It's kind of like the
Bryce Young, CJ Stroud stuff. Bryce Young got his all.
He's a bust. He can't play this and that. And
(42:10):
now you see Bryce Young and you go, you know what?
Things are looking on the rise. And you're happy for him.
CJ Stroud is taking that number two. He was the guy.
And now it's like, I don't know, man. They might
have won a Super Bowl last year, but he cost them.
Sometimes the tables turn. Thanks for hanging out with us.
(42:30):
Thanks to Chris. Thanks to Patty Speaks. I'm Jonas Knox.
This has been The Herd.
