In Game three, Edwards dropped thirty two, fourteen and six,
and the Wolves still lies. Wimby is now the I
was dominant two way player in basketball period. The Lakers
(01:05):
are dying down two to oh to a thunder team
got beat them by twenty nine points a game in
the regular season. Well, they've gone four to zero against
them in the head to hit matchups. Lebron he's forty one.
Luca can even play. This series ends in five and
(01:25):
the corps gets blown up before training camp. All right,
listen up, good Saturday to everybody. Welcome to Up on Game.
It's Fox Sports Radio LeVar Arrington. Then we have a
stacked show if you didn't notice. Yeah, And you know
who's gonna talk on that stack show. Well, a guy
who led the NFL and receptions in two thousand and
seven with one hundred and twelve catches. Seventh round pick
(01:49):
out of Oregon State. He's a beaver, Yeah, turned into
a pro bowler. He's a receiver. Eight year guy. He
was with a guy by the name of Chad ochoaching.
We got our man TJ. Hushman's outa and Super Bowl champ.
Hey is a guy that caught the game winning the
dagger catch. You remember that thirteen yard winning touchdown from
(02:11):
Eli Manning.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
He was drafted eighth overall in the two thousand draft.
I remember that I was there. Pittsburgh guy, Yeah, out
of Michigan State, Plexico Birds. I call him panteen Man
and Stretch Armstrong as the super friend hero super guys, fellas.
Welcome to the show. How is your Saturday?
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Man?
Speaker 5 (02:33):
You know, Saturday for us is just getting started, not
no clear skies and palm trees. We got the palm
trees just you know, the skies aren't as clear as
of yet. But you know, great weekend, Happy Mother's Day.
Tall the mother's out there indeed, indeed, get it going.
Speaker 6 (02:50):
Man, Hey man, it's a beautiful saturday out here. Man,
you know, just relaxing and uh, you know, going to
watch my daughter play basketball a little bit this evening.
So a little man just came home and you know
he'll be here for a few weeks and looks like, uh,
you know, me and little man become out of California,
(03:11):
then a little month to hang out with you guys
for a couple of weeks. Man, So looking forward to that,
and everything is, everything is on the up, baby.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Love that all right?
Speaker 5 (03:21):
It shouts out real quick, A little quick, little man
whoever he's referring to his little man, little.
Speaker 7 (03:28):
Man, so little you hey, he the young seventeen listen, listen,
listen real quick. I'm not just saying this because he
this is his son, and I told him this. If
his son it's not on the field on a regular
basis at notre day and they don't know what they're doing.
(03:50):
This is coming from me I don't trained so many
first round picks that boy can go if he ain't
on the field.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Them coaches don't know what they doing.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
M M. How about that. We're getting ready to find out. Y'all.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Take that and you can't beat that with a bat. Hey, listen,
we got two hours of fire for y'all. Juwan Jennings,
he just signed with the Minnesota Vikings one year, up
to thirteen million dollars. We're gonna break that down. Last
night when Ben Yama, as I mentioned, he cleaned house
on them boys. The Spurs lead to one, the Knicks
they went up three to oh Man, they look for real.
(04:25):
I mean, it's a it's a real deal. They putting
that Belta to the seventy six ers, ass could sweep
them tomorrow. The Thunder They're up to oh on the Lakers.
The Lakers think that the referees is the reason why
they getting their tails kicked. Pistons are up to oh
on the Calves as well. PSU KU a corporate logos
(04:46):
deal coming to college jerseys. That's a conversation. We have
so much to get to, y'all, but let's start off
with well NBA and what's going on the statuses of it,
everything that's taking place. Let's start with the Knicks. They
just took a three to zero lead. Two more series
at two O Wimby just took the Spurs to two
(05:10):
and one. Fellas, who comes out around to the fastest.
Is it a foregone conclusion that Victor winbin Yama is
now the new face of the NBA? And what does
this mean? You're going head to head with a guy
that we felt could transition from being looked at as
one of the next guys to now he puts best
(05:31):
puts his best effort forward and Anthony Edwards and they
still come up short. How dangerous is this New York
Knicks team? Wherever y'all want to start? You know, hey,
we could start with it.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
So listen, you know you started off or you didn't
start off, But you said the Lakers believe the reps
are the reason they're losing. No, the Lakers are gonna
lose with Luca, without Luca, with the refs help, without
the refs help.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
But the refs are terrible.
Speaker 5 (06:03):
That the refs are terrible, and the Laker game they
were god awful last night, they were god awful.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
And I don't know what needs to be done or
what will be done. But they got to fix this.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
But that shall be done.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
You gotta you got you gotta fix it.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
It's almost it's almost like it's damn here, Like don't
make you want to watch the game.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
It's like w W.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
It's like it's like it's scripted, like what is going on?
Like Adam Silver is a commissioner. You gotta fix it.
This really makes you appreciate the NFL and their referees
and our officials aren't perfect, perfect, but they way better
than this, way better than this. Something has to be done.
You know, a SGA says, oh, we're just we were
(06:58):
more physical. No, you guys fat. It's AAU basketball and
the NBA foul every possession for calling that's what they're doing.
They're fouling every single possession and they force the referees
to call it, and then if you don't flop with them,
you're not getting a call. And so for me, even
yes last night in Minnesota San Antonio game, really inconsistent,
(07:22):
really inconsistent, this possession, that this little bump is a foul.
The next four or five possessions a bump worse than
what you just called a few possessions go isn't a foul?
And so if I'm a player, you know how frustrated
I am, how hard it is not to say something
to the ref and get it technical because they know
what they're doing. They know they calling a bad game
(07:45):
a different game. It can't be in a regular season
is this, and in a postseason it's that, it's not even.
It's so different. It's not even. It's like apples and beans.
It's not even apples and oranges. It's apples and beans.
That's how far apart a season game called playoff game.
And so they about this.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
What is a bean?
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Is that?
Speaker 3 (08:08):
What is that?
Speaker 2 (08:08):
I don't even know what a bean is. You didn't
say apples, apples, potatoes.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Or red beans and rice paid You said.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Yeah twice two times.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Y'all can't tell me. Y'all can't tell me.
Speaker 5 (08:25):
Y'all don't agree with what I just said. These referees
are terrible. Adam Silver fix it. I used to watch
every single NBA game in the regular season. I probably
watched fifteen this year. I get it fifteen because you.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Know the game. I don't.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
I don't want a game, not because of the referees placks.
I don't want to one hundred and fifty two to
one thirty. I don't want to watch that game. I
want to watch one away TechNet. That's just the current
state of what the NBA is in right now. As
far as as far as the referees is, that can
be fixed. But as far as the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Go, that's broken.
Speaker 6 (08:59):
I want to as cannot be I just I just
want to let y'all know that I put out a
text the other night that TJ and I said that
check home Grim is a problem for the Lakers. If
everybody out there listening what he had to say, it
wasn't radio friendly about check Holme Gram and him flopping
(09:20):
and and him just being the the mismatch for the Lakers.
That they can't, that they don't they don't have an
answer for right now. But I agree with you. The
officiating is all over the place. You're looking at Tony Uh.
The referee last night getting in Fincher's face from from Minnesota.
I believe that was totally out of character. He was
(09:41):
once a referee in my high school. Is it, Tony?
Is it Roberts? Roberts, Tony brothers. Yes, So he was
a referee when I was in high school and he
refed me in high school, and you know everybody like him.
He got hold of you, We found you out. We
we never really just saw it. Let's just saw everything
(10:03):
he has. Obviously he has the old plexico on the
sideline with his towel over his head, upset.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
So all the way to he's always Newport News, So
you know, you just leave him alone.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Roberts was fil flex out.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Yeah, the way he make carling games. He might need
to go back to Newport new.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
He need to go back to high school. Hey, talk
to me about Brunton though, y'all. I was getting ready
to get to the Yeah, bring Me to New yonk series,
Bring Me to New York.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
That was a game that they needed.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
I think Philadelphia seventy six is when it went into
that game that was inspired. Obviously playing at home and
it's like a sixty forty game as far as the
fans are concerned, because the commute is only like two
hours away, so it's like it's almost like a way
home game for the New York Knicks and just you know, uh,
Jalen Bruston is basically playing in his hometown. He's playing
(10:58):
in the gym that he played in andva being raised
in that southern New Jersey area. But it just seems
that the Philadelphia Philadelphia seventy six is they don't have
an answer for him. I mean, he's getting to everywhere
he needs to on the floor, he's knocking down three pointers,
he's getting in the lane, and they just don't have
an answer for him. And I would say for the
(11:19):
seventy sixers, is that Tyrese Maxin hasn't been the guy
in this playoff series that we've seen during the regular season.
During the first round of the playoff, he's only averaging eighteen.
But they need him to get to that twenty five
twenty seven thirty mark if they want to win a game.
And I just watching them, you know, earlier saying listen,
there's a great there's a possibility that they may get
(11:40):
swept on their own floor.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
And I didn't see that coming.
Speaker 6 (11:43):
I thought it was gonna be a more competitive series
than what it is, especially with OG being out the
other night. It was a game that they needed and
they know that it's uphill battle, you know, going down
three to zero, especially you know, even though they're playing
at home. It's like a home game for the next
but Tyrese Maxie, I think has to get going if
the Philadelphia seventy six even want a chance to compete
(12:06):
in this series.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
For the rest of the nine.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Wait, it's a rap. The Knicks are dangerous and they're
showing that they're doing something that the Calves have not
been able to do, which is show that they can
get over that hump. You know, Spider Mitchell has not
been on a team that has shown they can get
over the hump. And I think that I'm just counting
the Cleveland Cavaliers out of his heart and looks like
he's washed. I don't see them being what they need
(12:30):
to be. This next team is proving they're taking that
respect of being the most dangerous team in the East,
is what I'm seeing. And it looks as though the
matchup between them is in Detroit is an imminent clash
that's going to take place. I say, Cad is showing
that he is a guy and Brunson is living up
(12:53):
to it. At times it's like, oh, it's the Brunson show.
He handles the ball too much. If he's not scoring
Da da Dad. This now in the other one, it
looks like this next team is playing at a level
where they are the most dangerous team taking that respect
in the East. And it's going to be interesting to
see Detroit in the Knicks matchup in that that final
(13:17):
final Eastern round. That's what I think is gonna come
out of it. Wemby. Wemby is putting the NBA on notice,
and he's got his foot on the chest. I ain't
gonna say throat, because I don't know that he's he
has arrived in terms of what he is as a player.
I think he's got a lot of growth left, fellas,
but he's got his foot. Oh, he's got a lot
(13:38):
of growth left, a lot of growth. Now we're not talking,
we're not talking physically obviously, no no, no, no, no no,
But he probably still has growth left.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Physically.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
He's a baby, He's still kind of a baby. I'm
gonna say he got a foot on the chest. If hey,
if he does what it looks like it's trending him
to do this season, then we could start talking about
he putting up foot moving on up to the neck
if you dig what I'm saying. But with that being said, okay,
se whether whether we want to call it the referees,
(14:08):
whether we want to call it flopping and them getting
away with there's six and oh in the playoffs?
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Does fall bar I don't care, how dare you?
Speaker 4 (14:17):
I don't care.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
If I don't care if catches flopping, I don't care.
If the whistles is lossing their minds against them. This
team is six and oh oh in this year's NBA playoffs.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
And they playing, and they playing seven on five sometimes eight.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
How sometimes sometimes that's how the cookie crumbles. But the
bottom line is, all the time, if that's Debo up
on that that if that's Debo up on that TV
right there, playing against that them guys, the Lakers, he.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
Will everybody say the same thing. I'm not the only
one saying it. Everybody's saying the same thing. They're the
only team that get the Lakers. No, they fans of
other teams.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
All I'll say is it is quite the shame if
you're a Lakers fan and you're looking at it from
the standpoint that one of the goats of goats of
all time is not getting the benefit of the doubt
with the referees in the calls. That's all I'm gonna say,
if you pay overvalue and that's all. He's one of
the worst floppers of all time. You didn't even put
(15:18):
that in your conversation. He's one of the worst floppers
of all time. You want to watch somebody for flop culture,
pull up some Lebron James flops. Don't don't Lebron, don't
get too don't get too out of sorts about flopping.
When Lebron James created a whole entire culture of figuring
how to be the best flopper, that's.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
All are I can't believe you just said that. I
can't believe you just said that.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
TJ.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
TJ.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Tell the true Shane the devil is Lebron James, not
one of the greatest oppers.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
Just said LeVar Man. I can't believe.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Oh my god, we got like we got like one
two minutes. Go ahead, tell me where I went wrong, TJ.
Speaker 5 (16:01):
He helped your boy Where I tell you Ron started
flopping like what.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
Are you serious? Yes, oh my god.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
He took flop into a whole another level of theatrical flopping.
Am I wrong? Hey, hey bo, you know what we
need to do. Let YouTube what Let's pull up one
of them YouTube highlights of Lebron's greatest flops, and let's
put it on the on the Fox Sports radio feed
(16:35):
so everybody can see it. I ain't wanted to sit
there and hate on Lebron James, but TJ, you are dead.
Ask for all for cover of that. He said that
that man ain't one of the most masterful floppers.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Nowhere near that man fell on the ground.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
That man fell on the court one time and grabbed
his right elbow in his right knee and switched when
he sat up and sat down.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
And nowhere left near one of the left hit.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
The ground on the man was grabbing ghost pains on
a flop that he had. How you're gonna switch up
your elbows? Oh, let me start with my right. Wait wait,
hold on, I forgot which one I heard.
Speaker 5 (17:11):
Come on, man, Lebron isrel y'all. I'm not I'm not.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
I'm not hating, but I will say they are finished.
This series will be as sweet it will be over,
and it won't. But it didn't matter what the rest did.
The rest didn't even have to cheat. The crazy thing
about this series. Before the playoffs even started, we all
agreed that that the Lakers would not beat the Houston
(17:42):
Rockets or the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
And they swept Houston Rockets.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
So there you go. They they swept the Houston Rockets.
The Lakers did they did know? They didn't. We won
four two?
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Wasn't Yeah, they went matter if they nobody expect, Nobody
expected for them, nobody including you, TJ. You didn't. You
didn't expect. Let me get out either. But but the
fact goes on that they do get swept by OKAC.
None of that even matters.
Speaker 5 (18:14):
They're not gonna get sweat, sweat, not gonna get swept.
But I believe they get sweat. It'll be for one.
It doesn't matter, It doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
Y'all.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Did see them the referees standing there with broomsticks when
they was talking to them after the game. They you
know what them refs told them when they were talking
to them. Swept, y'all.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
I believe. I believe swept. I believe.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
So the brooms are out. I'm sorry much. I'm sorry, TJ.
And you know what y'all don't have to be sorry.

The forty nine ers. They passed the Minnesota just rob
the league plus the rest of free agency. Aaron Rodgers,

All right, Aaron Rodgers, you'll be on the roster by
training camp, I believe, and it's going to be well,
maybe potentially embarrassing. He's forty two years old, hasn't committed
to playing yet. Teams are still all in them every week.
(21:01):
Just retire if you're going do it. Let the league
move on. Aaron Rodgers. I don't know that you're good
enough to be commanding all of this attention, but it
leads us into a bigger conversation NFL free agency. Fellas
in May. Normally things die down after the draft, but
not this year.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
Not now.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Top story just two days ago, Thursday, May seventh, Juwan Jennings.
Y'all may know him. Remember he'd low blowed somebody after
a game before. We saw the hair, We saw the punch,
you saw what took place. It was kind of funny.
But anyway, he's a top story. You know why because
he's agreed to a one year deal with the Minnesota
(21:38):
Vikings eight million dollars base up to thirteen million with incentives.
He was the top remaining free agent receiver off the board.
Now Jennings was well, he was a guy. He was
a guy, and the forty nine ers passed on him.
Signed Mike Evans to a three year, sixty million dollar
(21:59):
deal in March, Jenny goes to the Minnesota Vikings, Justin Jefferson,
Jordan Addison, TJ. Hawkinson. Now you just added Jennings. Whoever
wins the Vikings starting job, you'd have to assume between
Kyler Murray and JJ McCarthy, they just got a guy
that rounded out and already complete and super gifted and
(22:23):
talented receiving corps to have a third down receiver like
Juwan top twenty in the league last year on receiving
yards and on third downs nine tds. He makes the
tough plays, Fellas, He's tough at what he does, and
I think that this makes the Minnesota Vikings a super,
(22:43):
super dangerous team. But there are other guys out there.
Dallas I mentioned the tight end, but we just saw
Dallas Goddard. He resigned with the Eagles. And now we're
looking at what happens with Aaron Rodgers, what happens with
Joey Bosa, step On Diggs, Bobby Wagner, Jadeveon Clowney. We
(23:06):
got some guys out there. Deebo Samuel is even still
out there. So how you guys feel the Vikings did
on this one? Is this signing of an eight thirteen
million prove it deal for Jennings? Was this the move
of the offseason? Where does this rank for you guys?
How y'all feel about it?
Speaker 3 (23:28):
I mean, for me, no disrespect, It's just kind of
whatever for me. The Vikings have.
Speaker 5 (23:36):
At worst the second best receiver in the league, and
justin Jefferson, they have one of the top tight ends
in TJ. Hockinson. They have one of the better number
two receivers in Jeorde Addison. Those are their three top
guys in the passing game. Very rarely do you really
throw the ball to four guys on a consistent basis
(23:56):
in the game, it's normally three guys. I'm assuming Juwan
will be that fourth guy, and so it's a solid signing.
It's not like, oh my god, they got Juwan Jennings.
This offense is gonna be crazy. No, it's gonna come
down to can Kyler Murray or JJ McCarthy be more efficient?
Very simple. They had weapons before Juwan Jennings. They didn't
(24:17):
need anybody, at least I don't believe they did. Now,
this is to me, Juwan Jenny's misplayed his hand. From
my understanding, the forty nine ers offered him seventeen million
dollars a year on a multi year extension. He turned
it down, he won it twenty plus. He misplayed his hand.
You you get a multi year seventeen million dollars a
year offer and now you're playing for one year up
(24:41):
to thirteen million. So when they say up to thirteen million,
it's really not thirteen million. It's incentive based, and so
he'll help the team. But this big addition, like, uh,
Juwan Jennings is gonna make a huge difference. They had
weapons on offense, and I still believe it will run
through Justin, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, TJ. Hockinson, and then
(25:06):
everybody else including Juwan Jennings.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
I mean, the.
Speaker 6 (25:09):
Minnesota Viking have some of the best weapons offensively in
all of football. But it comes down to the to
the singular most important thing in.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
The in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
Who is Kyler Murray out of a Arizona Cardinals uniform?
Speaker 6 (25:25):
And who is JJ McCarthy. Uh, we just simply don't know.
I think, out of any team in the NFL, I
think that the Minnesota Vikings quarterback play is going to
tell a lot about who they are because it doesn't
make any sense for you to have just like TJ said,
arguably the best wide receiver in football ind and Jordan Addison.
(25:48):
They're probably one of the top duos in the NFL.
But it just seems like to me on some Sundays,
Jordan Addison he doesn't show up and I'm looking like,
you know, where's John Addison? You know, we know that
Justin Jefferson is constantly getting double team. I think there
is more there for him. I think that's one of
the reasons why Ko and his organization did reach out
(26:09):
and sign Juwan Jennis, because it's just in the Jordan's
He's just been inconsistent in his play to me some
some some days it's one hundred twenty, he's one hundred
and thirty, and then you know, other days he's you know,
catching two or three balls. But it all comes down
to the quarterback position. And I think that's going to
be the tell all for uh, you know, for the
(26:31):
Minnesota Vikings moving forward, because offensively you have with Aaron
Jones Senior Hockinson, you up, you're loaded offensively from a skill,
but just a standpoint, but we want to know what
the quarterback play is going to look is going to
look like.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
For this team.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
I think it's an interesting conversation. I also think it
should be noted that well, it'd be interesting to see
where all of those other list of names end up
going in the free agency see market. But for now,
I'll say it's a mixed bag. Juan maybe and so
maybe it didn't meant matter too much that you know,
you got a receiver and uh, the forty nine ers organization.
(27:12):
They're your number one guy. You that you have no idea,
probably not going to work out. You bring in an
oldhead and Mike Evans. But it doesn't sound like from TJ.
You feel as though it was a big of a
loss to to the Niners. And well, it comes down
to the quarterback for page.
Speaker 5 (27:28):
You know what, LeVar, if Jordan Addison gets hurt or
he gets suspended, because.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
It makes sense, you can't big deal. But if it's how, yeah,
they need another guy to get open.
Speaker 6 (27:44):
I can see that based off of the coverage and
all two for one that Justin Jefferson is getting they
need another wide receiver to get open. Okay, they don't
have that. They don't have a third wide receiver right now. Well,
you know how I can see we have that.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
Ain't a guy by We have a guy by the
name of Isaac Loewing Crawn. Listen, we're going to get
a quick update on the other side of that. We're
going to talk NCAA. Uh yeah, well logos on Jerseys.
We're going to talk about that patches starting in twenty
six twenty seven. But first let's get a trending from
(28:23):
mister Isaac Loewing Krown, How you doing, sir?
Speaker 9 (28:26):
Our top story LeVar, a renewed controversy from nineteen ninety
six involving Green Run High School, Stallion's first team, Beach
District big man Plaxico Burus and future NBA official Tony Brothers.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Man, talk about it? Wow, talk about it? Boy, You
guys to many fowls that he had.
Speaker 9 (28:46):
You and hey, you and Will Brooks totally would have
beaten the Mensville Monarchs if it wasn't for that guy plaid.
Speaker 6 (28:53):
Oh my gosh, don't do that to me. That's a
that's oh that hurts. That's a low blow. Hey, that's
a low bow man.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
We loft that.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
We loft the state championship in that game, hurt us.
Speaker 9 (29:03):
I just got to ask, was he a was Tony
Brothers a Mono brow back then too?
Speaker 2 (29:09):
Or were they two? Or did they? Did they?
Speaker 3 (29:11):
He was?
Speaker 4 (29:12):
He was a Uni brow, He was the first Uni Brown.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
All that time.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Ago still loft that game?
Speaker 4 (29:19):
Man up five two minutes ago.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
I'm telling you we found a way.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
He'll lose it.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
I'm telling you, I you know who that team was,
who David Macklin, d mac okay? Yeah, Wow, that.
Speaker 9 (29:33):
Ball just makes it all the more infuriating because Plax
knows how Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch felt because
in Game three of the Western Conference semi Finals on
Friday night, is Minnesota Timberwolves lost to San Antonio one
fifteen to one away to drop behind two games to one.
Victor Webbin Yama thirty nine points, fifteen rebounds, and five blocks.
(29:56):
But during the game, Tony Brothers confronted Minnesota's head coach
Finch after Finch said Brothers refused to granted a timeout.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Chris, I'm not sure I've seen players hold a referee
back from their head coach before.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Pretty unprofessional one. Well, you could just kind of take you.
Speaker 10 (30:12):
I wanted to time out, Yeah, and I had called
it three seconds earlier and I wanted to time out.
And because he clearly heard me, he clocked my way,
ignored me, went on with the play, and then you know,
gave me the almost cost his eternal.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
He lost it was then I went to ask him
where the ball was going.
Speaker 10 (30:27):
To be taken in and he was screamed at me
for that, so completely on professional behavior by him.
Speaker 9 (30:31):
Earlier Friday night, the New York Knicks one at Philadelphia
what to wait to ninety four for three games to
none lead Mine thirty three from Jalen Brunson. Today's NBA
playoff action tips off at three pm Eastern with Game
three of the Eastern Conference Semi Finals from Cleveland, with
the Detroit Pistons leading the Cavaliers two games to none.
And we had a trade today in Major League Baseball,
as the Cleveland Guardians acquired two time Gold Glove Award
(30:53):
winning catcher Patrick Bailey from the San Francisco Giants for
a draft pick and a prospect. Guys, all yours appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
I Low.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
We got news update here as well from Lawrence, Kansas.
The Lawrence, Kansas Journal World reports KU they're now actively
exploring corporate logos on the Jayhawks uniforms.
Speaker 4 (31:13):
Okay, why now Well?
Speaker 2 (31:15):
January twenty third of this year, the NCAA's Division One
Cabinet approved a proposal allowing ad AD patches on the uniforms, equipment,
and apparel beginning in twenty twenty six and twenty seven season.
Maximum size four square inches cannot be worn dorn during
(31:36):
post events or March Madness or the College World Series.
Why well, because of conflicts with what the NCAA already
has partnerships with It's pretty interesting, but college football playoffs,
they are allowed because it is not an NCAAA government event.
So corporate logos, corporate sponsors. I know we're short on time,
(32:00):
but fellas, how do how do y'all feel about this
exploring it? I mean, obviously it's going to raise money,
so let's.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
Ask you a question.
Speaker 6 (32:08):
So why does having logos on these jerseys or uniforms
not conflict with the n C Double A during the
regular season?
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Mm hmm, I don't.
Speaker 6 (32:20):
I would mean that doesn't make sense to me because
now it conflicts with the n C Double A or
during what March Madness or uh, you know, any any
any the world season or the World Series. But why
not doing the regular season? Does does the n C
double not have the same rules during the regular season?
Speaker 2 (32:40):
I would assume, you know, I would assume it's based
off of the tournament, the tournament of the World Series,
the tournament of the n c A A March Madness,
I would assume, because those are probably sold separately from
what the regular season would would have to offer. So
the partnerships of what our body.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
There's the money going.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
For these patches.
Speaker 3 (33:07):
In the school. Okay, so look, look, look, look I'm
all for it. Now, this is what I don't like.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
Right.
Speaker 5 (33:17):
You know, for years and years and years before us,
during US and after US, the NCAA took advantage of us.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
They did.
Speaker 5 (33:26):
Now that the players are getting their just due, they
want Congress to help them sort it out. Oh so
you want to take advantage of you want to take
advantage of us again. That's what I don't like is
they're finding ways to make more money. That's fine, I'm
all for it. Stop going to Congress trying to get
them to help you out. Because for years and years
(33:47):
and years, all you people in the NCAAA and all
you coaches that are against the players getting paid have
made a living on the backs of us, on the
backs of all the kids that have played college football.
You've made a living off of us, a great living,
big millions, huge millions. So stop crying and complaining and
(34:08):
trying to run to Congress. Fix this, nil. These patches
are gonna bring universities more money. That's great. Continue and
allow these kids to get paid what they're getting paid.
Because for decades you took advantage of us, and now
you don't like the fact that kids. I don't like
that type of stuff. You want all the money, but
(34:29):
don't want the people that's putting in the work to
get any part of it.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
Like that. I hate that part.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
But check this out.
Speaker 6 (34:34):
But now how it does this effect recruiting and the
NIL portal. So now you have some of these companies
coming in and say, you know what, I'll give you
X amount of dollars if you sign so and so
if you recruit this guy to come to the school.
Maybe your sponsorship deal may be forty million or twenty million.
Recruit now, yet, now if you can get so and so,
(34:57):
we'll give you fifty. So it's just enough way an
avenue for these teams. I believe in recruiting in the portal.
How that's going to fit in plexico.
Speaker 5 (35:07):
That's great because if they're getting X amount to recruit
this player, that means they got to give player X
amount because that's going to entice them.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Well, I'll say this fellas Nike Adidas, they aren't going
to be happy about it. It's going to make for
some messy uniform policy management discussions and that's going to
be interesting. Corporate logo as well. Seems inevitable Fellas but
not on Jordan. Still remains is how big of a
deal will they be as this whole nil and college
(35:40):
landscape of trying to figure out and find new revenue
streams and bleeding these these these athletic departments are bleeding
money to be able to try to maintain We'll see
how that all continues to play out. Coming up next,
Tim Bins, he wrote a piece this week fans, Well,
they're pushing back on NFL season expansion and March Madness expansion.
(36:04):
The NCAAA just announced seventy six teams. We will get
into it next on up on Game. All right, welcome
back into the Show's up on Game, sputchco Bursus, TJ Hushmnzada.
All right, Well, we got our two coming up, and
(36:25):
we got a lot to get to. But before we
get to the end of this break, just super quickly,
we're talking about too many games. The NCAA tournament is
going from sixty eight to seventy five. The NFL season
it's going to seventeen to eighteen. Who wins fans or money.
(36:46):
NCAA officially announced seventy five team tournament May seventh of
twenty twenty six, the NCAAA president Charlie Baker openly wants
expansion since February, saying conversations have taken, can place and persistent.
For the NFL TJ. We'll lead off with you super quick.
(37:07):
Uh the game already wears your body down? Does eighteen
games really? Does it matter? What's what's the like?
Speaker 3 (37:15):
Does it hit like?
Speaker 2 (37:16):
How do you are you a proponent of it? Are
you against it?
Speaker 3 (37:19):
How do you feel about it?
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Man?
Speaker 3 (37:22):
As y'all know, man, I love football.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
I love it.
Speaker 5 (37:25):
It's giving me everything I have. But at some point
you you got to figure out, uh is it worth it?
Because when when you're when you're playing. Man, when we're young,
if I'm playing right now, I want eighteen games, I
want to play. But as you get to our age,
(37:45):
you're gonna feel the consequences of eighteen games.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
You for sure gonna feel it.
Speaker 5 (37:50):
And so one thing that if and it's gonna happen
if they go to this and players we don't think
about this when we're playing.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
What will be.
Speaker 5 (38:01):
Something that a player will players the league, the guys
that are playing now get in what should they want
in need for the future is medical insurance when you retire.
That that should be at the top of the board.
That's what you want. Anybody that played X amount of years,
(38:22):
whether it's eight, it's ten, it's eleven, whatever, whatever, I
think it should be eight years. If you play that
years in the league, you should get medical insurance until
you pass, because you don't start having problems until you
get to about forty eight, forty nine to fifty and beyond.
And a lot of guys, a lot of guys can
(38:42):
afford that. There's only probably five or six guys on
every team that really get that type of money where
that matter, they can afford it. And so if you're
gonna go to eighteen games, there's gonna be a lot
of wear and tear on your body. And that wear
and tear is really not gonna start to kick in
till you're about forty eight forty nine. And so hopefully
the NFL here is this seesus listen to this, and
(39:06):
there's some type of agreement that can be put in
place when they connectively barking that this can be worked.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
Out plex the tournament they're expanding the seventy six is
that harming? That is that harming? March madness or is
it just much to do about nothing?
Speaker 4 (39:20):
I mean, we all love March madness.
Speaker 6 (39:22):
Man, it's just you know what called the state of
college basketball right now, and obviously the parody which which
these schools change every year with the transfer portal recruiting.
I mean, if you can't get into a field of
seventy six, then you shouldn't be you know, you shouldn't
have anything to say about not making a tournament. I
(39:43):
mean that's what I honestly believe, because there are a
few teams I believe this year that were left out
on the bubble that should have been in the tournament.
But expanding the field, man, all it does is obviously
it brings more money to the NCB. We all know
that that is the only and main reason why they
(40:04):
will be expanded to seventy six. But I think it's
good for basketball. I think it's good for us more
more games to see and know a few of those
players names that we did not know before the tournament.
And one of these Cinderella teams makes a run being
in the field of seventy six that wasn't in it
last year. I think it's good for basketball, and I
(40:26):
think it's good. I think it's good for the fans.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
Thought the I thought the tournament was already perfect. I
think it kind of dilutes it down. I think it
kind of dilutes the whole Cinderella premise. But that's just me.
I mean, I don't know. I guess you expanded, you
got more opportunities, But we'll see how that all plays out.
The college football playoffs, well, it's moving to twenty four teams,
more expansion. We're gonna talk NBA is their best year
