Speaker 1 (01:30):
I heard that Malcolm Butler of the Patriots, super Bowl champion,
two times Super Bowl champion.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Yeah, stop them by to say what's up.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
And of course it's Wednesday, so you're gonna turn your
humped into a hump night if we have time some
midweek major the biggest stories in the world of sports
and pop culture. But a few random observations out here.
As the buzz gets thicker at.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Radio Row, as we see athletes, celebrities and people just
walk on by, it's cool to bump into familiar faces.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
I just saw.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Presidential candidate and I say that because it's a true story.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Steven A.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Smith walked by with an entourage like he was already
running for president.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
That's a story today, stephen A. And God bless this country.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
The only entourage I've seen just as big, if not
a little bigger, today was Shannon sharp when he watched Oh.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I saw him walking by too. So yeah,
everybody who's anybody's here, and if you can't make it
to the room where it happens, we bring the fun
to you. That's why we're here, no doubt. Some good
parties last night. We're gonna go to Collins party tonight.
We'll report back Manyana and let you know how that is.
But some other random observations. I gotta start off with

(02:38):
this one. Out here in New Orleans. There is a
lot of security, right. We appreciate that and props to
people keeping us safe.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
But Rich is fixated.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
He said it about five fifteen, sixteen times already. What
do you think of the mounty heads observations?

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Everyone?

Speaker 1 (02:55):
My question is I just got to ask you. Do
you lose.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Respect or does it command respect?

Speaker 1 (03:02):
I don't know, because the New Orleans Police Department doing
their thing, thank you, not mocking, just saying they got
that bull winkled melty hat like. It's almost cartoonish, and
I don't know if it garners more respect. I think
you're talking, Dudley do right. I think that's where you're
getting at.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Something like that.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
They got on the full on uniform and it's kind
of intimidating, but they don't walk around their hats man,
it's a presence. I'm leaning towards commands. Respect Rich is like,
lose respect. It looks goofy.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
No.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
So again, just throwing it out there, even though we're
still giving prompts because we do appreciate it, because they're
the first people were going to if there's a problem.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Let's be fair, Yo, let.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
It be known, my friend, I'm a huge supporter of
the police.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
Yes, what are you going to do? Say that you
don't support the police.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
A lot of people do a lot of people do.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
I respect the police more than anyone. They're here to
help us.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
I'm just saying I'd like you to know I'm against
racism the unif you know.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
In every city it varies.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
I feel like NYPD, LA PD, different uniforms, different cars.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
You know, the police are different. Theywhere in New Orleans
it is a like a.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Navy blue Dudley do right mount healthy outfit. I'm like
riding around on horses and everything. Honestly, it's wild. So
that's observation number one. Observation number two is what what
a weenie Rich is? He just had a roast beef
sangwich again in between the.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Pie Boy show. Yeah, he had a Pope Boy.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Because we're here in Nolan's, So in between Collins show
and this show that you started, he had a roast.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Beef Pope boy.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
And he keeps complaining that my belly hurts my pummy ache.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
I think it's you down with the sickness. Yeah, Clarissa
Thompson was supposed to be on the show today. There's
some little virus or block going around New Orleans right now.
And you heard at the top of the hour Ilo
say that Jalen Carter of the Eagles missed his media
availability today with illness.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
It's concerning because we have alerts on our phone and
there's been alerts, you know, shooting out from everybody that
there's something going on around here where people are getting sick.
So the other day that's not happening in you rich
because you know, no, I just exactly, I just had
a big ass Pope boy.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Too much sauce. I mean, think about it.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
The other day, Colin mid segment was like Stars Stars, Luca,
you know what, guys, I gotta go.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
And so there is a little something going around By
the way, that's why.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
We filled in for him today.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
He was making his way here to New Orleans, so
that's why we did double duty today.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
But speaking of the.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Food and his belly ache, I gotta tell you what
he did last night.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
Oh no, I have an observation about the restaurant we
had lunch at. Go ahead again, this not trying to
be controversial.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
We went to a really nice little bar pub, got
a pope boy, got a couple apps.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Just to kill the time in between shows.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
I'm talking to our buddy from the Odd Couple, Kelvin,
and we both looked down and caveno, go ahead, give
me a signal look down.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Before I didn't know what he was talking about.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
The tiles in this bar had a swastika pattern, and I'm.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
Like, just one.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
It was just full on throughout the mark, that whole tile.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
It was the tile, And everyone's like, what is going on.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
Yeah, like I said, I'm against racism, Yeah, exact you daddy.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Immediately one of the workers that go look at the
sign and there's a big sign that says this place
was built in nineteen oh two, prior to World War two,
prior to Nazis, and it was a sign of peace,
and I'm thinking still change your tiles.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
Well, they took that symbol and inverted.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
It exactly, exactly. Yeah, so I mean historic in a sense.
It's an old floor. They explained it, but it's hard
to Matt notice. Don't you think it's not to change? Yeah, employee,
he sort of changed over time.

Speaker 5 (06:58):
Yeah, don't you think themployees must be really sick of
explaining it.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
That's why there's a big giant plaque. Again.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Some random observations and before we get into other stuff,
Lebron and John Madden and Midweek Major and some football observations.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
Rich Elon Musk owns that restaurant st stop it.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Last night we all went out Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
You know, some of the big wigs.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
It's always fun to hobknob and booze and schmooth with
important people.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
And you know, some other shows were there.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Rich thought it was the right time to go split sees, as.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
He called it, halfsis has E's with our boss.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
So Rich and our boss, I mean solid move, lame
mover boss move because it is our boss.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
But you're going playing it though. It was like Lady
in the Tramp style.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Well yeah, because then they interlocked arms and fed each other,
not even joking. I think there was Joe that that
part was joking, but they actually did it.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Is my point, Like they shared food and went halves.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
So the question is, before we dive into the other stuff,
let's have some fun. Cavino and Rich let's get involved
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Is it okay
to share meals with your bro or your buddy or
is that something you used to do?

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Is you know, with your wife or girlfriend?

Speaker 4 (08:22):
Like split plates? Yeah, you're slitting.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Yeah, i'd cool. Here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
I think anyone that says rich it caused a lot
of chit chat, a lot of laughter. Yeah, but I
think anyone that has a problem with this is out
of their damn mind.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
I'll tell you why and why did everybody react? There
been there have been times where.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
Why did head Hancho Don Martin call you soft? Yeah? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Why did everybody's respect for you all of a sudden? Thanks?

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Guys, No, listen, you could say, well it's your wife,
it's different. But recently I'm met a diner with my
wife and I saw on the menu they had a
ruben and they had I believe.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
It was a pull pork grilled cheese.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
I think it was a Ruben Sierra and I had
a little mustard and I was like, I was.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Like, babe, you want to do Hevsi's I want to
split And my wife gets annoyed that I want to
do this all the time. But to me, I'm the
guy that wants to get a little taste of everything.
So we're at the restaurant last night. I happen to
be sitting next to the boss. We have a big table,
really fun time, great crew.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
With the coincidence, which was sitting next to the boss,
or he was kissing a that's what he was doing,
which was kissing.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
That's what your dad would say.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
And our boss, Scott, I saw him eyeing up the
scallops or the filet.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Sometimes it's hard to make a choice, but a real
man makes a choice and sticks with it or he
sometimes it doesn't work and sometimes it does.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Or I saw that we were both deciding between two things,
like hey, dude, you going with the scallops or you're
going with the steak. And I'll give Scott credit. He
led off with, by the way, how do you like
your steak?

Speaker 2 (10:00):
He led you there, and I go medium rare.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
How about you? So he goes, so do I? And
then it was the I guess that makes us split pals.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
At that point, it's like, all right, do you yo?

Speaker 2 (10:15):
You want to get the steak in the scalps and
we'll just split them. I see no problem.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
The fact that you boneheads even address this, this is brilliant.
And then Cavino had this huge ass pork chop and
I'm like, let me get a little taste. I got
to try three entres. A little silent bowl is.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Here and there. Okay, I get it right. You know again,
you're on the company dime. And as Rob Parker says,
when the company pays you weak falas.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Oh he's a whole nother story, flace.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
But sharing with another man, splitting the plate your thoughts
at Coveno.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
And Rich at Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
I was saying the back of the studio, we've hung
with I was saying, we've we've he've been to my house.
I was saying, we've been out for meals. Are you
cool splitting entrees with one of your buds.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
I guess that was a very hesitanting I think, yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Because sometimes you as a guy, you see what you like,
and I don't even want to share it, let alone
split it, like get your own meal.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
By the way, if someone wants a little taste, little taste,
then they get a little taste.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
But I prefer to keep my own entre because you know,
I'm kind of a fatty, so I want to eat
all the food on my plate.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Same. I'm with Sam.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
I sent you and Ryan the picture there so you
see that.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Oh now, I think on your socials, Danny, I can't
say I've never done it, you know, but it's not
that Rich seems to be like an endorser of this tactic.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Well, I'll tell you what not everyone's down for it.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
And again, yeah, Arnie Spaniard just texted into the show,
what a suck up Rich is.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
I don't even share any of my food with my wife.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Sharing with the boss.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
What's do for you? By the way, you know, thank you, Artie.
I love that guy.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
By the way, I will say this, I recently did
this with our video.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Guy Spot and he's like, never good.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
We were at the Graduate Hotel in Auburn, and I'll
be honest, I'll take accountability.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
I'm always the guy that wants to do this.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
We went to some great place for dinner at the
graduate and there was a Southern fried chicken sandwich and
a smash burger. And I was like, oh, damn it,
I'm just indecisive, dude, You're amaze.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
I'm married.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
I picked one woman to me. I'm like, d white black,
I'll take it. Variety is the spice of life. So
when you put, oh, that's a good ones you come
up with that.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
I did. Actually, I've made that up.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
When you put a fried chicken sandwich on one side
of me and a smash burger on the other side,
I said, spot.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Come on, split Sky split split a rough chaers. These
spots are okay.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Fun.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
He did not like the chicken, and he's like, yeah,
you're an ass, you know, like.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
He was so mad because you steered him in the
wrong direction.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
Well, hey, you know what, I'll let you decide.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
It's an old school It's Super Bowl week, so let's
do an old school NFL Fox Sports Radio Nation.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
You make the call.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Yeah, there's a ton of NFL and NBA and stuff
to get to, but why not start with a fun
like question.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
I want people to.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Understand, though, it's not all about football in the game.
There's a lot of fun to be had at these events.
In the week leading up to Super Bowl, it's a
lot of people.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
See all the families outside of the Convention Center going
into the NFL experience to.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Point out, how come our dads never took us to
places like you eating the places our dads never took us. Yeah,
I mean it's fun for the family, it's fun for
the co workers. We're hanging out with our colleagues. We're
going out for dinners. You know, we're here at Radio Row.
It's kind of a reunion. You've seen old colleagues that
you worked with, So there's a lot more story to tell. Then, Uh,
you know who's more motivated, the Eagles or the chiefs

(13:52):
of the Eagles?

Speaker 2 (13:54):
I trust me.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Two hours, we got a lot of NFL We got
some NFL stars stopping by stars.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
But I will say this, Dare I sound corny and.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Say this is a great team building.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
It is not the split of the of the dinner.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
I'm saying the fact that you know, I was chopping
it up with Doug Gottlieb's here. We just saw Kelvin
at the restaurant we were at you know, tonight, we're
gonna be going to Collins party. So it really is
an opportunity to really spend some time with the people
on your team, essentially exactly.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
And it's not just us, it's everybody.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
I mean, the superstars are out, the Pro Bowlers are here.
And when I say Pro Bowlers, I mean Pete Webber
and yeah, exactly.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
You know, do you hear a lot of exaggerating because
I overheard Rich tell Gottlieb I watch all your video clips.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Yeah he's a sucker.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Yeah, I said one of them.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
I'm watch all of them.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
Now start thinking about this too, Yeah, because aside from football,
it's unbelievable that we're even talking NBA right now. But
there's so many moves to be made in the next twenty.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Four hours or so.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Right, So I got to ask you about lebron James
seems to be handling the news pretty good.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Had a nice game yesterday. Bronni hit a three pointer.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
As he did point out though when he went to
the bench, Ad wasn't there, I know, and he's used
to Ad being.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
In that spot.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
But he saw Lucas smile and he felt right at
home again. Lebron more motivated to stick around or call
it quits knowing that his replacement is there. Think about that,
maybe not necessarily just Lebron. Like you, Let's say you
know your replacements there. Do you want to hang around

(15:37):
and go for that ride with the new guy and
teach him the ropes and show him around you.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
It's not like Lebron's not going to be part of this.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Yeah, but you don't know how much longer he intended
on playing. There's a theory of Luca may have prolonged
his career and gave him second life that it takes
a lot of weight off of him. Or do you
think Lebron says, yeah, we're gonna go for it. He's
a trooper professional.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
We know that.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
You know, I want to win with.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
This guy, but it's his team moving forward and I'm
done after that. But you know what hold your Lebron
and Luca thoughts because there's other look of thoughts, and
they have to do with when you're called like out.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Of shape or chubby? H Is that a motivator in itself? Likely?
Simple factor even he said so.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
The simple fact that the narrative that Luca is twenty
five years old and a little fig with a bunch
of c'sh se CCC. So we'll start thinking about that.
Get to that some more NFL, of course.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
A little preview Eagles Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
But we are joined next by Super Bowl champion Malcolm Butler,
So hang tight, we got more Cavino on Rich next
right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (16:43):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
Welcome back to the show, Covino and Rie Radio from
super Bowl Media Row.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
I'm Steve Cavino.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
That is Rich Davis, and we have a guest. Let's
welcome two times Super Bowl champion with the.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
New England Patriots, Malcolm Butler.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
Everybody, yeah you do, I'm.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
Doing good man? How y'all doing? Having a hell of
a day.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Man, I mean, I think of you, and you know
you gotta think immediately. One of the biggest plays in
Super Bowl history, you know, I mean, what the hell
let's start there, oh.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
Height man, big time player, make big time plays. Baby.

Speaker 7 (17:31):
Hey, hey, it only counts when it counts, you know.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
I'll ask you this, how did your life change after
that catch? Because you were the hero after that win?
How did life change immediately after?

Speaker 4 (17:43):
I'll just say, mister Kraft, say what's your name?

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Right?

Speaker 3 (17:48):
All of a sudden, you're really imported right, by the way,
has Russell Wilson ever, you know, approach you like yo,
I sort of hate you, my man?

Speaker 4 (17:55):
And no, well I met him.

Speaker 7 (17:57):
I don't know who's at the correspondence. I think in
twenty fifteen, I was talking to his grandmother. I don't
know where she from, but she is so sweet, and
I think we was sitting there talking for like six
or seven minutes.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
He said, come on, grandma, we got to go.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Isn't that that one of your greatest moments? Is one
of his greatest nightmares?

Speaker 2 (18:15):
Right?

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Like he probably still thinks about that every night the
same way you do, just opposite.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
Yeah, I'm glad I got the better end. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
Hell yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
By the way, part of two of the more exciting
Super Bowls in the lab Ever, maybe you know that
ending versus the Seahawks when you win and then against
the Falcons.

Speaker 4 (18:31):
Right, oh yeah, yeah, twenty eight to three.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
The anniversary was just the other day.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
Hey, we came back, Like I keep coming back for
that Church of chick.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
We're gonna talk about BA because I can smell it.
Malcolm Butler here with Cavino and Rich. Now, that play
didn't happen by accident. You were prepared for it. So
what was your preparation? You know, how did you prepare
for plays like that?

Speaker 7 (18:51):
And quarterbacks back in the day, Well, back in the day,
like you just see the athlete, and we all just
wanted picks and stuff like that. But once I got
to college, I started to learn the technique, and especially
when I got to the New England Patriots playing for
under Bill Belichick, I started learning the technique. The game
started slowing down more. I didn't play as much, but

(19:13):
I always was an urgency reserved player. We had Brandon
Brown and de Rel Reeves, Logan Ryan like I deserve
the sit but I didn't think I deserved this shit.
But like, you got to earn your scripes, right, and
I think I earned my scripes enough to be able
to get in the most important game.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
The most important in moments.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Still, Yes, sir, when you see coach Belichick now going
to college, do you think these.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
Young kids will respond to his style?

Speaker 4 (19:41):
Yes, yes, like of course they gonna.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
I mean he appeals to he has a younger girlfriend.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
Maybe maybe that demo, Maybe that demo likes Coach Belichick.

Speaker 7 (19:52):
Damn, she might be on campus, she might be a
social studies. Then they stopped playing. But yeah, like I
know the game, like Nick Saban got out the game
because like the nil deals and stuff like that, like
he can't compete no more. But like it's an even

(20:13):
playing field now. But I think players will most definitely
go play for Bill Belichick. And like Bill Belichick never
been a social media guy or a guy about money.
You here to do your job and help the team win.
And who don't want to play for one of the
best coaches in the NFL? Biking up and then he

(20:35):
find Malcolm Butler, Like you're gonna go find him up?
Another Malcolm Butler, Another Tom Brady, another Julian Elderman.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
Yep, you played for the Pats twenty fourteen to twenty seventeen,
then again in twenty twenty two.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
What was it like going back at the end of
your career?

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Because k D said today he has no interest in
going back to the Golden State Warriors.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
Was it just as fun as second time around?

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Do you take pride in starting and ending your career
with the Pats Man.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
I just felt like it was different.

Speaker 7 (21:03):
I kind of felt like BILLI Chick wasn't as hard
as he.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Used to be, really different.

Speaker 7 (21:11):
And then I got older also, and then the players
got younger. So maybe I don't know what I was seeing,
but like, I don't know, it's just different. Man, Like
we had our runs, but I don't think it wasn't It's.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Just like it's not the same now. It wasn't the
same then, right.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
I saw Vince will Fark earlier, we had him on
the show and he was saying, how when you when
you have Tom Brady on your team, you never feel
like you're.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
Out of it?

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Was that a sense you had even you know, even
though you're on the other side of the ball, did
you ever respect for Brady? And when you see documentaries
like Man in the Arena, is it cool to.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Look back at all those moments you guys had.

Speaker 4 (21:49):
Yeah, yeah, one hundred percent. When I first seen.

Speaker 7 (21:53):
Like, I didn't I never thought in my life I
played for the New England Pages.

Speaker 4 (21:58):
Yeah, I said, damn it.

Speaker 7 (22:00):
I said, dang, it's cold, like like like just playing
the game.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
And then I'm like going.

Speaker 7 (22:07):
Then I end up in the locker room and I
see Tom Brady with this big traffic keeper I'm talking about.
I don't know if he was a teacher of what,
but here's a teacher, teacher of the game. But I'll
tell you about Super Bowl fifty two. He said, we're
gonna come back.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
He kicked you. Yeah, I said, man, what else?

Speaker 7 (22:28):
Hook throwing? That thing came back? And that made me
a true believer. So Vince will Fork it is very right.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
I'm here with Malcolm Butler again, super Bowl champion.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
What's the last three years been like for you? Man?

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Because you retired in twenty twenty two, So what's that
been like for you?

Speaker 7 (22:46):
My coach high school football nice yep went to the
state championship in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
And Jason Whitten stopped us.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
This year from going no way?

Speaker 4 (23:02):
The breaks offers and is that funny?

Speaker 3 (23:04):
You get joy passing down your knowledge to these kids?

Speaker 4 (23:07):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (23:07):
I love it, man, I love it. God blessed us
to bless other people.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
I love that.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Hey, you know, Malcolm, when you're here and you see
all these people, is it's sort of like a reunion.
You bump into old guys you would see across the
across the Yeah.

Speaker 7 (23:22):
I just seen one guy, he said. Yeah, I've seen
a bunch of guys. Oh, I just seen one guy,
he said. Man, I would have been in on a
play I thank called call line three corner.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
It's called three corners. Somebody got to get out of
the gang.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
I mean, Malcolm Butler here with Cavino and Rich Again,
you're only thirty four years old, right, So you were
an older guy on the field, but you're a young
man in life. You're getting your competitive flow as a coach.
But is there a party that still wants to compete
in other sports?

Speaker 4 (23:49):
Man?

Speaker 7 (23:50):
I thought about playing ball again, but nah, I can't
do it. Like once you stop, you just can't crack
the engine back.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
Up no more.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
No, you're steal in shape.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Oh yeah, yeah, you gotta look good.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
So you're keeping in shape. Yeah, you're styling today. Here,
you're looking safe.

Speaker 4 (24:06):
Man. Hey, fit the away, keep it weight away.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
That's it, man.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
And you're aside from the Super Bowl win and the
rings and everything, other memories that are near and dear
to you, any other accolades and memories that stand out
to you in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
Man, just I appreciate everything.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
I'll tell you that is it.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
The relationships, the friendships, the relationship, the friendships, the respect,
the ups and downs.

Speaker 7 (24:32):
Like you gotta appreciate everything while you here and like,
just just be thankful for everything.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
I'm thankful being on Fox.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Yeah, how are these guys feeling? A couple of days
before the Super Bowl? They got butterflies? You think some
guys are just naturally calm?

Speaker 2 (24:45):
What were you like?

Speaker 4 (24:46):
Will you?

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Were you your own heads to bring up a lot
of memories.

Speaker 7 (24:49):
For so Like, I was like, I ain't gonna play,
Like I ain't gonna play. But like in the mean room,
my coach said, Malcolm, be ready to play. You're gonna
put your little West Alabama school on the map. And
I got in and did my thing.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
But I wasn't scared. I wasn't scared.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
You were prepared.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
I was just ready.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
Nice Brandy, I love it.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
And you're here by the way Churches Texas Chicken. I
could yeah, thank you the whole time. Oh yeah, what
do you guys doing this week? Super Bowl week?

Speaker 4 (25:20):

Speaker 7 (25:21):
Look were having a block party Thursday, No Saturday on
South Claveman Street, sixteen hundred.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
Look, kids, eat for free.

Speaker 7 (25:29):
Nice, you gonna you can, You're gonna get some autograph
jerseys pictures from me.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
And then somebody got a chance to win chicken for
the whole year.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Get at here. Hey, I love it.

Speaker 4 (25:43):

Speaker 2 (26:15):
A guy that's styling, man. I was just off the arrow,
was just talking wearing Paton leather shoes, no socks. I
was saying, there's certain guys and you can tell a
lot of Mankle bro man ankle, but he owns it.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
Yeah, you can tell the certain guys in the world
of sports that are styling and others at just whatever.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
He's one of those guys that he put a lot
of effort into his wardrobe. Yeah, there's guys like him,
And there's guys like Jason Kelse.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
You would just show up and their you know, sweatpants
and their flip flops. So doubt there's no right or
wrong answer when going to the game. But he's styling
for sure.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
Again.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Con being on Rich Day three Wednesday, Radio Rough Thursday
for under four days, four days until Super Bowl Sunday.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Now coming up. I want to talk more about Luca.
Oh yeah, because I mean we are here at the
super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
But the ad Luca thing dis so many layers, so
much intrigue, and the more you're getting little nuggets and
tidbits from these guys, the way Luca's body language is,
he seems a little ag but I think that aggravation,
I mean he's going to result in Yeah, but if
you've lost one hundred million dollars.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
Yeah, but Danny, you're late, and then your criticizer being overweight,
Danny were saying earlier when we filled in on the Herd.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
When someone insinuates you're out of shape, like at the
restaurant last.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
Time, why you got to bring up old stuff. Yeah.
So we're at the bar slash.

Speaker 5 (28:21):
They have great appetizers at our hotel, and we were
waiting to go on a little outing with some of
our coworkers. So we're standing there waiting, Coveno standing next
to me. One of the bar backs walks by and
he's he's bringing an appetizer to one of the guests
at the hotel there, and he cuts through the middle
of Coveno and he looks right at me and he says,
excuse me, big guy, big.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Guy, and no offense, Danny, no offense any You're not
like six four. So when he says big guy, you
got to take that a certain way.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
So or that's just the way he addresses people, like,
all right, boss, but that big guy. If you know,
if you're a little sensitive, that could be on your
mind all day long. There's a lot of funny social
media bits of when people say that for the rest
of the day, they're just twelling.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
He just basically called me fat, big guy. Yeah guy.

Speaker 5 (29:08):
And I told Jonas Knox the other night, I said,
imagine if Shapiro, our boss, traded you to ESPN, and
then you caught wind publicly that he was saying you
were out of shape, you were fat, You weren't you know,
you weren't in shape, that's why he traded you. And
Jonah said, I'd be on the treadmill for an hour, immediate,
no doubt.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
And you know what Cavino and I have always talked
about how when you go through a breakup. And let's
be honest, when you're traded straight up and you're a
superstar and your conditioning was in question, you are going
through a breakup. He straight up broke up the the
Mavericks dumped them. Now listen, it was a it was
a really big trade two superstars. But you could look
at it as yo, he got dumped, and what do

(29:48):
you What do you do during a breakup? Cavino, You
hit the show, you hit the gym, you better yourself.
And I think, I think with Lebron on his side,
and Lebron being a super condition guy that spends millions
on his body, on his routine, on his fitness and diet,
I want to be shocked if he goes to Lebron
and Luca plays better than he's ever played. I would

(30:09):
not be shocked because, honestly, when you're an elite athlete,
you're twenty five years old and people are questioning your conditioning,
you still got the metabolism at twenty.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
Five to be like you know you f you here's
the data bring side.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
It's a double doozy of motivation because I mean he's
already self motivated to be as great as he is,
but now he has this little bit of revenge too,
like all right, I'll show them, So add that on
top of his all already motivatedself.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
And he's gonna be dangerous.

Speaker 5 (30:35):
And if you think he's fat, he got to the
NBA finals. He led his Mavericks to the finals back
nine months ago, being quote unquote fat.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
So something to think about, Luca Lakers. Will it work out?

Speaker 3 (30:49):
We talked about it earlier on Colin Show to Judge
and grade. This trade is preposterous. So we're just gonna
have to wait and find out. And the NBA is
waiting for us after Super Bowl Sunday. The NBA's waiting
get ready to heat up, all.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Right, So we got more of that and we're gonna
talk little John Madden and culture shifting, all right. Yeah,
this week is the anniversary of when John Madden actually
became a coach in nineteen sixty nine, and that shifted
the culture you forget about of the team of the
NFL practically, yeah, by other coaches and the impacts they
had in regards to culture shift and more Midweek Major

Speaker 1 (32:59):
We still got Midweek major coming up, the biggest stories
in the sports and pop culture.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Thanks again to Malcolm Butler for stopping by. Is the
phrase I would be remiss? Is that a phrase? Yes?
I think so right. I would be remiss trying to
sound all professional. I think it's remissed.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Somebody owes you five dollars.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
So remiss, Thank you. I was Sam.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
I would be remiss if I if I didn't mention that,
if if the Super Bowl comes to your home state,
your town, and you got kids or family, or just
go with your buddies when they do these fan fest
and fan experiences. Honestly, it's such a thrill to see
all these old kids getting excited seeing their favorite players,

(33:38):
seeing all the you know, kick a field goal, throw
a football, you know, through a tire. They got setups,
and the NFL does it right, They really don't. I
took a walk through the fan fest and it's so good,
honestly to see all those kids.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
As you said, my parents didn't take me to these
type of things.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
I know.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Man, Wait, cooler than Chuck E Cheese.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
If you can take your family, it's always a week,
always a great time.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
And there's superstars everywhere. Now, our buddy Wes from Vegas
hit us up.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Yeah, he goes to what and more of you guys,
Wes from Vegas mustache?

Speaker 4 (34:10):
I know that guy. He says.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
More and more you guys talk about.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
This trade of Luca and Ad he goes. The more
you talk about it, I don't think it's as big
as you're making it out to be. Big names, yes,
but reality is the trade is one injury prone star
for another injury pro star who's out of shape.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
Just the thought, and I would never wish that. No, no,
because I'm not thinking that.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
But there is a possibility that although there's big names involved,
it's like the dud of an outcome.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
We don't know that.

Speaker 4 (34:41):
Yeah, right, I want to refute that. Now you owe
me five dollars.

Speaker 5 (34:46):
Okay, because Anthony Davis was having a very MVP like
healthy season up until this abdominal strain that he just got.
But prior to that, he was healthy on the court
and looking like the best version of himself.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
That would suck, though, if that were to happen. No,
I agree with that, but I just don't see it.

Speaker 5 (35:04):
And then with Luca being fired up, hopefully we're gonna
see the best out of both of these players.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
I mean, just you know how sometimes the scheduling gods,
you know, give us a give us something to root for. Imagine,
come NBA playoff time, the MAVs and the Lakers face
each other, like in the second round or something somewhere
along the way they face each other. Tell me that
wouldn't be the ultimate, Like, all right, let's see how

(35:31):
this worked out.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
So I think the world should be rooting for that.
I'm pumped for it.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
But there's always that possibility, and that's why I brought
that up. Okay, So I'm gonna set this up. We
said it before, Now I want you to start thinking
about it. I believe it was yesterday, but we had
so much to get to, so many guests stopping by.

Speaker 4 (35:51):
We never got to it.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
But this week is the anniversary marks the anniversary when
John Madden became a coach in nineteen sixty nine, and
you could look back and say, well, that's sort of
changed the culture for everything.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
Dun dunn and dun dun dun dune.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
Wait, wait, hold on, I have to say this, hey, kids,
John Madden's just not a name on a video game.
You just think about it too, our kids and other
you know, anyone younger than thirty or so. I mean,
they know that Madden was a coach, but he is.
He's the he's the face of a video game, but
you know, a game changing coach in the NFL when

(36:28):
he took over for the Raiders, Super Bowl champion.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
I believe you know, we think of John matt I
thought he was the tough acting and acting guy. You know.
Think about it this way.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
If you're a kid of the eighties or nineties, you
think of John Madden as an announcer.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
When my feet burst it into flames, I thought he
was the guy I had to call up John Boom.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
Tough act, interacting.

Speaker 1 (36:48):
But think about it if you grew up in the
eighties or nineties, Yeah, video games and tough acting and acting,
and you know him and Pats Someummer all one of
the best duos of all time.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
I thought he was the guy breaking into walls, you know,
with Miller Lyte. That's what I thought. If he was
like the Miller lite version of the Kool Aid man.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
If you think back to our parents generation, we think
of as like the awesome old guy. He was the
youngest coach in the NFL at some point, so and
you're like, young John Madden just making such a culture
shift in the league and what he brought.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
The energy, not just the Raiders, just in the league.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
I think he was at one point he was tiny
enough where people were hoisting him up on the shoulders.

Speaker 2 (37:26):
That famous clip.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
I think of the famous clips of the curl in
his hair and the pocket protector with his button up shirt.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
No doubt.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
So when you think of John Madding, I think of
his checkered pants and the culture he brought to the
Oakland LA Oakland whatever they were at the time, Oakland Raiders.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
Yeah, he never coached the LA Raiders.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
Look at it this way, there's very few coaches in
all of sports that changed the dynamics and the culture more.
I'll throw out a couple and if you want to
chime in eight seven, seven nine nine on Fox Live
from Radio Row.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
We lulled that everybody involved. This is your chance to
chime in at eight seven, seven ninety nine nine Fox.
I'm gonna start off with a simple one. That's gotta
be Joe Tory for the Yankees. You know, you could
say that Buck Show Walter built that t built that
team with Stick Michael, Geen Michael. But Joe Tory, once
he got in there, changed a culture of that locker

(38:21):
room and they became a winning championship franchise.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
He definitely changed it for that decade. Okay, Well, I
could think of like ten better answers than Joe Torri
I saw, I said, I get the obvious out. You're
the greatest bro. I am the great Let's get rich
of hit.

Speaker 1 (38:34):
Pitt Beeret, greatest guy, greatest guy ever, greatest guy always
goes with the Yankee answer Camino everybody, and the guy
who never stopped talking about Pete A Lowns one of
forty nine ers.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
Get over here, let me smack you. Okay more Next
