it's been a fun week I want to thank you
Fox Sports Radio Nation for hanging. And it's not just
any weekend you got. Well, we're heading into the All
(01:28):
Star breaks, so you got some last minute baseball, you
got some incredible soccer. Two great games tomorrow, and with
all the hype of the World Cup, I feel like
maybe UFC is going under the radar this weekend, and
I think that's where we're gonna kick it off. I
think it's going under the radar because most most of
(01:50):
the time you'd be talking a.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Lot about Connor McGregor's return to the octagon. If you remember,
it was five years ago today that he broke his
leg and couldn't go on, and that was the last
time we saw McGregor fight five years ago.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Today, it's him sitting there and he gets tko by
Dustin Porrier. He can he can't fight, obviously, and he's
sitting there defeated, and that's the last image we have
of him until this weekend. I mean we've seen him since,
we've seen the puffy Connor McGregor strutting around town doing
(02:29):
interviews since. But I'm talking about in the octagon. And
the question for you fight fans out there is, you know,
would you put some Drake sort of money on this
guy to come back and win the rematch, because hey,
he has Holloway's number, but he hasn't fought in a
long time, five years. There's something called ring rust, octagon
(02:49):
ring rust. So great though, it was great news for
Max Holloway.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
According to TMZ Sports, Drake has just placed a one
million dollar bet on Connor McGregor to win at UFC
three twenty nine on Saturday. The Champagne Poppy revealed the
eye popping wager today, saying the Mac is.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Back the eye popping rager and he put one mill
a cool.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Million and that would pay out two point eighty five million,
so it would be one hundred It would be a
lot of money.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah, I get it, a one five million dollar gain.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
You know what, Drake, there's people starving in Africa and
you're betting a million dollars beat it. Anyway, I'm just joking.
Good for him and his money. I don't know if
McGregor is an automatic here. And here's why. It's like anything, man,
you need your reps. I don't care how great you were.
You could be the greatest radio guy. You haven't done
it in five years. You sort of lose your rhythm
(03:48):
a little bit, and you know, everything changes when it's
a real fight. He may be great in the gym,
he may be great in a sparring session. He may
be an all time great. Not taking anything away from
kind of McGregor. He's done so much for UFC and
has brought so much entertainment to us. I'm a fan, right.
I loved when he fought even Mayweather. I thought that
was awesome.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
We were in Vegas for that, and that Mayweather McGregor
hyped that weekend in Vegas was one of the most
fun times we've ever had.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Yeah, So I'm not hating. I'm just stating that when
you haven't done something for a long time, you might
lose a step, even the great slip a little bit.
As we always say, Father Time is undefeated, but there's
honor in the fight, and he's trying to find some
honor against Holloway, who's no chump, And.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
I looked it up.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Holloway has had eight fights since McGregor's last since McGregor's
last fight in twenty twenty one, So Halloway's been active,
you know, And I think that says something. I think
even if it's a close fight, that is the difference
maker right there, the fact that Holloway has been active
(04:51):
for eight fights while McGregor has been, you know, just
roaming around town and promoting his whiskey and getting in
trouble and doing what he does.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Right.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
We've talked about, you know, bad luck in sports and
curses and you know the cover of Madden and for
a minute it was the Fat Joe curs until the
next one. Drake has lost big in the NBA Finals,
Super bowls, UFC World Cup. Like, Drake's noticed to be
a pretty weak ass gambler. So if you're Max Holloway,
(05:20):
you're like, yes, yeah, I mean.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
He look, everybody has a chance, especially when you're fighting
at this elite level puncher's chance. Halloway's no chump. He
lost the first bout. If you're unfamiliar with their history,
McGregor won the first fight unanimous decision, and now it's
McGregor Holloway too on a loaded UFC three twenty nine
card that I'll tell you more about during weekend hobnobbing.
(05:44):
But we all love a great fight, and like I said,
I feel like it goes under the radar with all
the Baseball and World Cup hype, So this weekend it
goes down. What are your thoughts. Does McGregor step up
and remind us of who he is? By the way,
if he does, don't think I won't be pumped about it.
I will absolutely be pumped about it because the UFC
(06:05):
is not the same without Connor McGregor, So I hope
he does great, but I wouldn't be surprised if the
ring rust kicks in.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Connor McGregor is on the low end of the old guys.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
You know, we talked the other day about how so
many of these legends we saw Tom Brady retire and.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
We said, uh, who we talk about the other day?
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Lebron and Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
This group of guys that we saw start and.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Now they're all sort of ending their careers. Connor McGregor's
thirty seven in the Fight Game thirty seven is no
spring Chicken. So I wonder because if let's say McGregor wins,
then all of a sudden, you got a few more
McGregor fights. Probably in the future he loses. It might
might be one of those like Gina Carano, like.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Ooh, that was rough to watch.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
You don't want like Henry Sujuto sort of thing to
happen where he took some time off, came back and
wasn't the same fighter, and you know, the last few
fights forced him to call it quits forever. And he
had a great career. You can't take anything away from
Triple C. But you don't want to see that with
the McGregor. You know, you don't want to see him
get beat down and then want to come back and
(07:11):
redeem himself, get beat down again and he's like, ah, man,
you should have just left it where he was. Max
Holloway is thirty four years old too. If you're wondering
from Honolulu, Hawaii. Max Hollowey is a great fighter, and
Conn McGregor's a legend, a legend who hasn't fought in
five years. I don't care what it is, and I
know he's active. It's always different you know, a practice run,
(07:34):
a sparring match, it's always different than the real thing.
You get in there with adrenaline and someone really coming
to attack you. It's always a different game. And actually
it's not a game. It's always a different fight. So
I wish him the best. I hope he proves my
doubts wrong. I'm not saying that this is a guarantee.
I'm just saying I don't think anybody's immune to ring rust,
(07:56):
and I think that Max Holloway has to capitalize on
that advantage this weekend. And I'm sure that's the plan. Uh,
And it'll take him into the deep waters and see
what happens.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Anyone come to mind as far as you know, pretty
pretty legendary people that gave it another go, And you're like, oh,
I wish you would.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Then I gave you one a recent one. Triple C
is a good one. Comebacks aren't always.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
You know that pretty thought about how how would you
assess Philip Rivers when he made that return to the
NFL for the Cults.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
I think he did good. He just didn't get any w's,
but he but he looked all right. I thought he
proved that, you know, even at his age, he could
still hold his own. He held his own. He wasn't,
you know, stellar by any means. He looks slow, he
looked wobbly, but he did good. I think he did good.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
I think if McGregor wins, that's good news for the UFC,
because I feel like that's great.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
They'll they'll be there'll be.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Another fight and McGregor is still We talked about this
with the NBA and then eight our words when the
ratings of the playoffs were big and star players did
step up and the knickt storyline just meant ratings baby
and Wenby, you know, talking about Jalen Brunson.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Some of the big names stepped up.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
But remember before that, we're saying how you really need
those big names in UFC right now. I know the
fight fans that watch no matter what, But I think
if you asked a casual fight fan, like someone that
might watch the fights at their buddies house if someone
invites them over, do you think there's a ton of
notable names actively fighting right now?
Speaker 1 (09:24):
No, definitely, not one of the Even in boxing is
kind of a sleepy time in the fight game. Yesterday,
the big stare down yesterday in the world of boxing.
There was two big announcements. One is Kor Stephenson signed
with Zoofa Boxing, which is big, and he also went
at it with with unk Shannon Sharp. I don't know
(09:45):
if you saw that side story, but they were battling
on his podcast. You know, Shannon Sharp was saying, how
like he's sort of a boring fighter, and she, of
course Stephenson's like that just proves that you know nothing
about boxing. So they were having that debate there, and
then the big stare down yesterday was tia Fimo Lopez
and Rollie Romero. So Roley and tia Fimo are going
(10:08):
at it, and yeah, I mean, no one's really excited
about it, but this fight here will be an exciting
one because it's not just like I said, it's not
just McGregor Holloway, Patty Baddie's fighting. He's always electric, yeah, right,
and that's always a guaranteed awesome fight. And I don't
(10:28):
know if you saw the stare down between McGregor and Holloway,
but they get in each other's face and McGregor rips
his sunglasses off, tosses he rips off holloway sunglasses. Danny
g you're a guy that wears nice, expensive breath the
hit Man Heart sunglasses, like you're cool mode. Imagine someone
(10:49):
walks up to you face to face, takes your sunglasses off.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
And tosses them. Right.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
That's like you know when someone like flips your hat
off or takes your hat. He took his sunglasses off
and tossed him. Holloway did and flinched. They got in
each other's face. It looked intense. But here's what stands
out is they both look in great shape. And you
got to give fighters their respect for getting into that
shape because it's not easy to cut down. We saw
McGregor was looking big dude for a while while he
(11:18):
was inactive, and now he's looking slim and trim. He
looks like the same McGregor you saw, you know, the
last time he was in the octagon, So you got
to give him props for getting ready. But will it
translate in the octagon. We'll find out tomorrow night.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
I think fun fact people don't realize Danny G's sunglasses
are from Brett to hit Man Hard. He was one
of the kids of the crowd that put Hitman put
them on him, and he's been wearing them.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Ever since, it's just funny because this has been hyped
for a while. Who was Connor McGregor's supposed to fight
last Michael Chandler, right, Michael Chandler and that got canceled.
I believe about two years ago. This is finally happening.
You know, we wanted to see McGregor during the White
House event. Yeah, it's happening now, and it's kind of
(12:00):
fallen under the radar. It's snuck up on us. So
we're trying to get you hyped about it. And I
ask you Fox Sports Radio Nation, what do you think
happens and how do you think the ring rust plays
in and does Holloway capitalize on McGregor's previous injuries or.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
I'd be shocked or curious to see if people are like, hey,
Comino Rich, I don't really care, like have you lost
that interest? Like you know sometimes when someone makes one
too many comebacks, or.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
You might a big name, Yeah, I think so too.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
I just think that since there is a lack of
star power in the world of UFC right now, just
kind of McGregor by name alone might get the casual
person saying like, oh, I'll watch put that on.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Oh it's a must watch again. I'll tell you more
about it during weekend hobnobbing. But I'm going straight up
to tell you that, and I'm usually wrong, so and
it's not because I I don't know. I'm not trying
to lean into some sort of hot take. I just
in so many I want McGregor to win, right, And
every time I want something and I'm really like feeling
(13:02):
like this needs to happen. Is it'd be great for
the fight game, and he usually doesn't, so it means
I'm thinking and speaking with my heart.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
So you're gonna gets Drake, and Drake is always wrong,
so someone's going to be right.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
So I would love to see McGregor a defeat father
time and show the world that he's still the guy
and that the injury didn't set him back and all
these years in active didn't matter because he's still McGregor.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
I would love that.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
But I really think, because I'm usually wrong when I
say things like that, and I think with my heart,
Holloway is going to capitalize on the inactivity because he
hasn't been inactive and he's also a great fighter. So
that's my prediction. I think Halloway wins let's see. I
think it's a tight fight. I think he submits him.
(13:48):
Here's why, now that I think about it. When you're
in active, do you still have the fighting guts and
the stamina to push it through, you know, through the
late rounds.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
I know Holloway does. Does McGregor. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Yeah, you still have the punching power. They say the power.
They always say the punching power is the last to go.
And McGregor is a great striker, right, so he has
that going his advantage. If McGregor lost the step, lost
some quickness and he can't catch Holloway, Holloway gets him
to submit in the later rounds because McGregor's winded because
he hasn't fought.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
He hasn't fought.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
I don't care what it is you do, guys, if
you haven't done it in five years, it's not the same, no,
for sure.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
So that's my take.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
I'm rooting for McGregor, but I'm I think Holloway has an.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
Advantage, and it's a sober McGregor says he's sober drinking
non alcoholic beer ahead of UFC three twenty.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Hey, he got in great shape and you know what
could I give you one other angle here. This might
make your decision. Connor McGregor must be taken a page out.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Of Mickey's playbook. It'll make you weak in the knees. Rocky.
Connor McGregor said he gave up sex leading up to
this fight. Does that do anything? Or is that just
like to take away a joy of life?
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Like that's a question?
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Said?
Speaker 2 (15:04):
He said he's upstaining from any release until this fight
is over.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
So is going to be an irritable little kind of McGregor,
isn't it? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (15:12):
I mean not that little. Though they both weighed in
at one seventy. I believe McGregor wighed in at one
seventy five, but a cut in shape, looking good, looking
solid one seventy zero point five. Holloway waited in at
one seventy. I think that it shows his commitment to
his training keeps him focused and maybe a little on
his edge. I don't know if there's any truth to
(15:34):
what Mickey said to Rocky.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
But haven't they done studies on this right? Yeah? They have?
Speaker 1 (15:41):
And I think if I remember correctly, the MythBuster has
proved it to be not not valid, like it doesn't
matter much or something like that, but the MythBusters just
saying I don't know who put it to the something busters.
Maybe it was a sports science but rest in peace,
John Brincis. But whoever did said there was no validity
(16:04):
to it. And I do think that it can't hurt
to stay focused and to keep that fire inside or
however you want to phrase it, just.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
To give you the update.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
According to a chat Gpta, science generally debunks the physic
physical effects of abstinence, but fighters practice no sex before
fight for two made mental edges preserving aggression and enforcing discipline,
so it may just be more mental than physical. Now,
(16:37):
intimacy releases hormones that calm the body and may lower
that fiery edge a fighter needs to stay ruthless in
the ring, So there's like more of a mental thing,
but nothing scientifically proven. Like it's not like, you know,
practicing abstinence, you're you're a tougher opponent, but mentally you
might just be on edge.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
And you know, speaking of the mental game too, does
Holloway capitalize on not only McGregor's inactivity but his injuries. Dude,
he snapped his leg in that last fight against Poorer,
and that TKO five.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Years ago, Did we remember how disappointed we all were.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Yeah, And you know, as far as mental will that
be in McGregor's mind, in the back of his mind
when he's throwing kicks, when he's landing hard on that foot,
is he going to be sort of catering to that
previous injury just by instinct. Again, it's one thing to
be feeling good in a sparring match, but this is
(17:33):
the real deal holy Field, even though he boxed. All right,
So I want to get your opinions. Yeah, I know
there's some fight and we're going to talk some WNBA
and we're going to talk some home run Derby as
we had at Yeah, he's talking some smack.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Bryce Harper has such a great idea for the home
run Derby and if they do this, I think it's
going to take it to a whole new level. What
could take an already amazing event like the Derby and
make it even better?
Speaker 3 (17:59):
We'll let you know what that is.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Plus again, like Cavino said, your feedback on McGregor this weekend,
and some WNBA.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
And NBA news right here Fox Sports Radio, Cavin know.
Speaker 5 (18:07):

Oh, you're hearing these sounds of one of my new favorites,
Des Rocks, the soundtrack of UFC. But this dude just
straight up you'll be hearing him on Saturday night. Dana
White UFC always playing some Des Rocks. He's got a
new album out, but it's gonna be electric UFC three
twenty nine.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
So pumped.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Actually, well, I think it's cool that you love Des
roxis artist and you put it on social media and
Dana White like reposted.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
You and everything. Yeah. No, he's a big fan too.
You and Dana White both big fans of Des Rock.
Look him up.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
We're laughing from the Fox Sports Radio Studios Danny g

about here in Texas and I missed the beginning and
I was like, oh, one one, this game might go
to OT and then they're Spain, Cavino.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
I Banya. If Yeah decides.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
To end it right before regulation ends, I thought we
were going to see some OT. I was hoping for
for a shootout, some some penalty kicks.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
Well, tb case.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
We'll have your updates on that in about ten minutes.
I see Chichetito talking about it right now on TV
with Alexi lalas So some big games. This all sets
us up for huge games tomorrow that will tell you about.
But there's also a huge fight UFC three twenty nine
McGregor holloways the return of McGregor after five years, and
I was thinking about it, rich you know. I remember
(20:48):
he had a fight with Michael Chandler in twenty twenty
four that was canceled.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
I was like, why was it canceled again?
Speaker 1 (20:55):
And this just adds to the theory what happens after
years and the years of fighting and age kicks in
wear and tear starts to rear its head. And in
twenty twenty one, when he lost to Poorier in that
TKIO his last fight, he has a broken left tibia
amphibula that resulted in the referee stop in the fight.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Right, it was unfortunate.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
Yeah, when he tried to come back, he broke a
toe while getting ready, So he broke a toe and
that's what canceled that fight.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
So it's like pop ce toe.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Now, you know, is he gonna all of a sudden
be a brand new guy?
Speaker 3 (21:34):
I hope, I hope. I hos sake of.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
A fun weekend of fights and something to watch. But hey,
we are taking your feedback on McGregor this weekend, and
there's a story that I find fascinating. I think the
Home Run Derby just got a hell of a lot
more exciting cause you know, we mentioned this the other
day before. Two new Philadelphia participants, Bryce Harper and Kyle
(22:00):
Schwarber both can be part of the derby. Well, as
of yesterday, only five players had committed, right, and I
think they need eight. According to the new rules, they're
ditching a time clock the pitch clock, so it won't
be this rushed event. And yeah, then after we did
over promise yesterday a bonus pott, it was announced that
(22:21):
Bryce Harper signed up, Schwarby signed up. So that's the
star power we were looking for. And you're like, oh yeah, and.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Yeah as of Oh I saw this today and I
thought it was fake at first, until I realized no
Buster One's behind this. Per Buster one. Bryce Harper wants
MLB to let the Home Run Derby to use metal
bats in the bonus round. And I have so many
questions about that, Like first, for real, like seriously, that's crazy.
(22:52):
Remember MLB actually did this as like an April Fool's
joke years ago, Like they're using metal bats, because you
could kill somebody.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
That's why if they.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
Have the nets up now at the stadiums, so the
balls do explode on I think you can kill somebody
in the outfield.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
How about we also pitch golf balls to them in
the bonus.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Roo, No, dude, you see how you know?
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Rich and I have the honor and privilege to have
been at many many, many, many many homes under many Right, dude,
the ball comes sizzling in at you. Hear the sizzle
of the laces coming at you in the outfield with
wooden bats, So can you imagine with metal bats?
Speaker 3 (23:31):
I think you're really gonna hurt so.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
And there's plenty of kids, you know, those little kids
that are in the outfield. You you might as well
put some helmets and pads on them. They're gonna be
murdered if they're hit with a line drive. Well, Harper
said Derby at home, Sure, why not? He's seeking to
become the fifth player in MLB.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
History to win more than one home run Derby. So,
Harper's there, Schwarby's there, and you said we need the
five others yesterday. It's a pretty good field, your boy, Ben.
The auto is going to be part of it, and
he's now at twenty eight home Let me take everyone
also behind the Cavino rich home run Derby bushwhack and
velvet rope.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
Dude, how about Camon Arrow, the hottest bat in baseball
cam and.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Arrow was fun to watch with this year in the
derby as well, So yeah, he's a big bet.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
So every year at the home run Derby.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
During the TV commercials when you're at home waiting for
the derby to resume, Cavino will.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
Back me up.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
They have local high school kids do their own home
run Derby and they're allowed to use aluminum bats. These
seventeen year olds are hitting four hundred foot shots because
at first, ye at first you're like, yeah, man, I
had a home run in high school.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Of defence, you did well if you played high school ball.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Hitting a ball three hundred plus feet is not hard
with an aluminum bat if you're a high school baller.
These kids that must have made their way to this
final derby get a chance to play at the big
league stadium and with aluminum bats, these seventeen year old
kids are hitting missile monsters. But if you let a
guy like Kyle Scharber swing some big barrel, aluminum bat
(25:07):
at home, pipe fire some you know at home, it's
out of the stadium, I think, honestly, especially talking about
how Philadelphia's got that thin air and it's a home
run hitters ballpark, I would bet your short by hits
one five point fifty plus.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
I'm just looking this up. How far to hit it
out of the Philly Stadium?
Speaker 3 (25:27):
Just?
Speaker 1 (25:27):
Am I just being crazy right now?
Speaker 3 (25:28):
No?
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Not at all, Citizens Banks. You know absolutely you could
hit it out of that stadium.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
It's just giving me dimensions. I'm like, no, out of
the stadium, Danny G. Can you back me up on that?
Can you look that up? Because it's just given me dimensions?
And I'm like, no, no, no, out of the stadium.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
And you think you're thinking, You're thinking someone like two
blocks away is going to be having a cheese steak
or Chipotle ball.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Get hitting the head with a baseball.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
Yes, I think this is craziness. So what are your thoughts?
There's like a two part question, is this cool or dangerous?
Professionals with metal bats aluminum bats? And by the way,
do you go with the metal bat or aluminum bat phrasing?
Because yeah, they're saying metal bats I always say aluminum bats.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
And am I crazy? I say aluminium?
Speaker 1 (26:15):
Aluminium? Am I honestly just say that out loud? Am
I crazy? To think? Seriously?
Speaker 3 (26:19):
And based on what Rich said?
Speaker 1 (26:20):
When we see high school kids, like elite high school
kids at the home run derby in between commercials, if
you're not there, you don't see it. When I see
them teeing off and how monster of a bomb they're hitting,
I really do think like a Kyle Schwarber could hit
it out of the park.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
There's an AI estimate here for that ballpark. It says
four hundred and fifty to five hundred feet would clear
the fence and land in the parking lot.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
It fell down, yes, into the lot, bro breaking a
windshield happened in my windshield, yes, setting off alarms. This
will never happen. I think it's amazing that Bryce Harper
suggested it, but I'm here to tell you big dream
in rasp bet these monsters today, don't.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
We forget sometimes how an aluminum bat is so it's
so loaded. You know, We've had this conversation over the years,
and I get so aggravated when people fight me on
this because I say, you know, I played high school ball.
I played ball in my twenties, I play softball as
a grown man now. I always say I could absolutely
hit a ball out of Dodger Stadium the caveat an
(27:24):
aluminum bat, no doubt. I bet my life's savings on it.
Now wood in bet. That's where it's like, ooh, do
I have warning track power?
Speaker 3 (27:31):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
I don't get you're forgetting one serious caveat. Yeah, the
pressure involved in doing it and when it matters in
the moment.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
But if you gave me ten minutes of BP where
some guys throwing sixty miles an hour, like you know,
just BP speed over the plate, you get in a
rhythm with an aluminum bat. If you played high school
or college ball, even if you're in your forties, you're
gonna connect and hit one out.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
It's not hard.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
What's hard is the wood and bet that is the
difference maker in Major League Baseball. So if you let
these pros so gonna lumine a bat, Bryce Harper might
hit a six hundred foot home run.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
And by the way, I really did think this was
a We had a double triple check this story because
I'm like metal bats again, if you just joined us.
It's per Buster Olney, who looks like Patton Oswalt to me,
per Patton Oswalt Buster only Bryce Harper wants MLB to
let home run derby use metal bats in the bonus
rounds in the bonus round. So my question is cool
(28:30):
or dangerous? I'm saying dangerous. I'm saying you got to
get all those little nose pickers out of the outfield.
And you have to remember I already remove everybody from
for safety reasons out of the outfield.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
That kept on one thing cove.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
Do you believe it'll end up in the lots if
that were to happen.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
I've been to these derbies with you. We saw a guy,
let me tell you a quick story. I saw a
ball off the bat of Albert Poolholtz.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
We were in weren't we in St.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Louis.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
We were in left field, Danny Gya. A ball hit
a guy in the face, planned like in that area.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
Yo.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
This guy's face was mangled and he was doing the
whole thing like I'm far, I'm fine.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
I'm like, this guy's not fine. Get someone over here.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
We heard the ball, We heard it. The guy I
was bleeding all his faces like because the ball sizzling
off the bat.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
I'm telling you in the outfield, be prepared. I'll be honest.
You gotta put.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
High schoolers out there.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
You can't be putting a little league and pony ball
kids that are eleven years old in the outfield. They
might die. You're one hundred percent ride. I say that,
like you know, they help.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
To wear full catcher's gear if you're gonna allow this,
because you're gonna murder a teenage boy, an eight year
old boy out there in the outfield snagging flies.
Speaker 6 (29:45):
So like that K nine training equipment where they look
like they're all packed up like anti bear equipment.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Yeah, it'll never happen.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
By the way, like for Bryce Harper to say this,
he must have been looking for, like, I don't know,
a headline or something. There's no way these dudes are
too strong and a are too powerful for this to
even be a thing.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
He said.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
When the gold balls come out, when they start doing
like that, next level he goes break out the aluminum bats.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
I mean, it's fun, but get this, listen, you talk.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
About bat speed and exit velocity. What is a guy
like I know he's not in it, but what is
a guy like John Carlos.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
Stant I was thinking fourteen.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
You know, off the bat. Even Ben Ross will hit one.
You know, he's good for one hundred and ten exit
velocity plus.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
But who's like the exit velocity king of this tournament?
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Maybe John Carlo oh oh in a tournament. Maybe like
a Schwarbs in this tournament.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
I wouldn't know. I don't know. All these guys got pomped. Well,
let me just say this.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
According to the Society for American Baseball Research, aluminum bats
could add up to seventeen miles an hour of exit velocity.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
Yeah, you're killing somebody, man, You're hitting it through those nets. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
I know when Sho he just hit his three hundredth
career home run recently, it was almost one hundred and
twenty off his bat.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Yeah, so imagine show imagine show he.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
I know he's not in it, but imagine a guy
like Show Hey could hit a ball one hundred and
fifty miles an hour ex of velocity.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
It's scary, dude. Yeah, no way.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
So this is a true statement your thoughts on this,
and again the question is two part question cool or dangerous?
Speaker 3 (31:16):
And am I.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
Crazy to think like they're just hitting him in the
lot at that point that most stadiums Phillies for sure.
Phillies Stadium definitely, But like most stadiums, Yeah, these guys
would hit it out of the out of the stadium.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Yeah, Philly's got that. I'm telling you, Phillies a friendly
hitters park. Cavino, you give some of these cats aluminum bats,
it's gonna.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
Be something like you've never seen before. I'd say, they
do it. I know it's not gonna happen, but would
be fun. I'm just funny. H harp I just find
it funny. Harper brought it up all.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
Right, now your thoughts think about it. Hit us up
at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox and of
course the live chat is up. We're streaming live. You
could watch the show at Covino and rich FSR on YouTube.
But let's get an update from the great Dan Bayer.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
Hey, d Bay, guys.
Speaker 7 (31:58):
One half of these semi finals at the World Cup
are set. We knew France advanced yesterday with a win
over Morocco. Today just down the road from US in
Los Angeles with Spain and Belgium, and it was a
match that was tied up at one apiece until the
eighty eighth minutes.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Depends to score again. Let us Spain heading to the semifinals.

semifinals coming up on Tuesday in Dallas. Now tomorrow, there
(32:49):
are two more quarterfinal matches you will see on Fox
Norway and England from Miami than Argentina taking on Switzerland
from Kansas City. Top seeded defending champion and Yanick Center
advanced to the finals of Wimbledon by beating seventh seed
and seven time champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets. Center
will face second seed Sasha Zverev in Sunday's final. Zverev
(33:10):
won his semi final match in straight sets as well.
Scottis shop and Rory McElroy has a share of the lead.
He's at nine under par. Tom Kim Jordan Smith also
at nine unders sharing the lead with McElroy. The real
story is Scotty Scheffler. He didn't make the cut, finished
at even par cut was minus two. It ends a
streak of seventy eight consecutive made cuts for Scheffler that
(33:32):
was fifth best all time on the PGA Tour. But
he will not play the weekend. Dodger star Shoyotani will
not play in the All Star Game. Otani is not
going to pitch tonight. He'll serve as the DH for
the Dodgers this weekend against Arizona, but he's dealing with
irritation in his left knee and won't even make the
trip to Philadelphia. The Saylouist Cardinals in second baseman JJ
Weatherholts have agreed to terms on an eight year deal
(33:54):
with more than one hundred and twelve million dollars. Michigan
has given Mike Boyton Junior a two year dal to
be their men's basketball coach. He had the job on
an interim basis after Dusty May left to take the
Mavericks gig. Now Boyton gets the job on a full
time basis. Guys, back to you, thank you.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
You, Dann Bayer.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
But I think the big news of the day all
besides all the stuff Dan Bayer hit us up with,
is that we have the best meme of the World Cup.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
Now have you seen this one?
Speaker 2 (34:19):
It's the young Spanish fan after they went ahead. He's
doing like a crying thing to the Belgium fans.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
I saw that live and it's going.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
All over social media now and everyone's like, yo, this
is by far the meme of all of the FIFA
World Cup. It's some you know, this little Spaniard, this
little cut little Spanish kids doing a little once.
Speaker 6 (34:40):
He's like keeping it together. He's kind of acting and
he's like, I'm sad, but I'm going to like act
it out. And it's like he's not like actually crying,
but he's like very So.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
The little Spanish kid crying is apparently the meme of
all of the FIFA World Cup. And if you have
not seen it yet without a debt, you'll see within
the next ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
All right, that's Dicky Doodle Davis. I'm sorry, hop along
Davis because he's out there Texas with is forty Gallaghat.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
So dude, I'm getting all the feedback. We're streaming live
on YouTube at Covino and rich FSR. A lot of
people pumped about the World Cup this weekend, a lot
of people pumped about UFC. And I saw the feedback,
a lot of people rooting for McGregor. Right, I see
I see the kid crying on our YouTube stream.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
Is this the that's the meme, that's the meme of
the of the Whole World cover? Right there? Would that
be a jiff?
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Would they be a giff?
Speaker 3 (38:18):
An animated jiff little giffy jiffy.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Well, speaking of McGregor, you know, I don't want to backtrack,
but this ties into something that just happened because ooh,
people be fighting, there's some tension in the air. The
thing with McGregor is or the difference is Get this. Yeah,
when Gina Carano and Rond the Rowsey fought ron the
Rowsey looked great, but she fought a woman that hadn't
(38:43):
been in the ring in like seventeen years. Gina Crono
hadn't fought in forever.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Seventeen years a lot different than five and no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no no no.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
Ron the Rowsey fought a Gina Corrano who hadn't fought
in like sixteen seventeen years. Okay, fair McGregor, who has
at for five years, is fighting a dude that's been active.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
Holloways, no chump. You see the difference?
Speaker 1 (39:07):
Yeah, right then then they needed a warm up fight.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
Let me tell you if you if you feel like
McGregor is going to shock the world, pull a drake.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
Drake bet one million.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
Dollars the payout of one point eight five million dollars,
So one million pays two point eighty five Mili.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
So maybe Drake's got the right idea.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Maybe throw a little little flow on McGregor this weekend.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
Well I'm not, but speaking of fights, this just happened.
According to Schams, NBA insider says Bam, out of Bio
and Tyler Hero got into it, got into a tussle
physical altercation in Vegas on Friday today in which out
of Bio struck Hero. Sources tell ESPN and Schamps. The
(39:51):
altercation occurred apparently allegedly at practice at a practice court
in Vegas a Vegas hotel this morning. According to sources,
when Out of bio Io approached Hero about comments Hero
made critiquing the Center critiquing out of Bio on social
media after their seven year run in Miami ended. Now
Danny G did some investigating, and apparently Hero made comments
(40:15):
about you know, once he was traded to the Bucks,
he made some comments about how they overpaid out of
Bio based on his efforts.
Speaker 4 (40:22):
Yeah, saying he's not a sixty million a year top
tier defender. Ooh that he is on some nights, claiming
he was the one in Miami who needed to help,
not Bam.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
Ooh.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
So man, it's a fight weekend for sure. But how
crazy is that former teammates just happened to be at
a practice court. They see each other and he's like, would.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
You say about me?
Speaker 2 (40:45):
Man ooh souz, I am it's messed up with the
five fingers into the face slash.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
Yeah, so damn no charges or anything like just the
gentleman's Uh.
Speaker 4 (40:55):
I haven't seen anything on that yet, right, Yeah, Bam
bam felt disrespect because his work ethic was being questioned.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
I'm sorry, man, I know it's sports in all way.
He just don't go up to people and punch him
in the nose and there's no repercussions. I mean, it happens.
It happens, But that's kind of wild. And that's what
you get when you stick your nose in other people's business.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
That's that's a good story. I love that we're gonna
get to see Connor McGregor this weekend.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
It's a fun as we head into a fight weekend
for sure.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
Yeah, and uh, you know, I think we've had a
really fun week in sports and that meme that's fought
found that you're gonna see that for the rest of
the weekend. It's that and people pretending they're in a
fake sports documentary.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
Have you seen that trend? Yeah yeah, yeah, Well you
sit down in a chair and is this all is rolling?
Like that's the new trend this weekend too.
Speaker 1 (41:40):
The big this is my Netflix documentary?
Speaker 3 (41:43):
Yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
So hey, we'll give you the clue and we'll give
you the heads up on what to watch this weekend
in the world of sports and entertainment.
