My nine year old daughter Emmy and my six year

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, oh, but teenage painty ass whole different level.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Man, Brace yourself, all right, let's go, come on, brace yourself.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Neither of you bozos have a toddler right now? Oh man, yeah, yeah,
doing lot.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
You know what, Danny g I'm good at playing the call.
I'm good at that. I'm good at, like, you know,
wrestling around a kidden diapers. I'm not good ating. I
am better than I am with teenage complexity. Cove your
your daughter doesn't want to do coloring books anymore? No,
I really would. Oh those problems. That fun is way better.
So anyway, thank you guys.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
To quote Edith Bunker those on the day.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Yeah, yeah, I'll take dirty diapers over you know, the
teenage hassles that you got to deal with. But anyway,
that's life. Such is life, all good, not complaining, just explaining.
Steve Cavino, Rich Davis, as I like to say, Rich,
I got one foot in dad life, one foot up
your ass.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Every day on Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Radio pay tonight with no World Cup action, what do
you watching? That's a question itself, because every day it
seemed like there was something on, and tonight it's like,
what's on? What are we watching? What are we doing?
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Dude?
Speaker 4 (02:08):
Today?
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Is it's sort of like a view of what's to
come once the World Cup is officially over because the
world and our every day is sort of consumed with
Hey man, did you see the game and the results
and the highlights. We're running on this high of visitors
blowing smoke up USA's ass, Like USA is so great.
(02:31):
We're riding on this fun time adventure and once it's gone,
the World Cup Blues is gonna set in. So tonight
is like the first sign of what's to come, because
I'm serious, it's been consuming. It's like appointment watching every day.
There was something today, there's nothing France Morocco play tomorrow.
So what are you gonna do with your downtime is
a question for sure.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
And there's plenty of streaming shows and things to catch
up on. But I was, Sam, what are you doing tonight?
Speaker 5 (02:56):
I know what I'll be watching Indiana Fever at La
Sparks seven, seven pm Pacific time. Kaitlyn Clark coming back
from injury, and that's what I'm switching my attention to
more WNBA.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
But you know what, that is perfect timing because it
could happen right and it's a big controversy and a drama.
Maybe she gets checked and it becomes she's.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Been out a game or two and they the fever
have been off for like, I don't even know eight
or ten days.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
So I thought you're gonna say, love Island, dude, love Island?
Speaker 3 (03:26):
All right, Well, Danny say, the only way sample to
watch that is if Kaitlyn Clark was on lovel.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
I know for sure, right, No, she's on Fantasy Allen. Yeah,
when she's on Fantasy Allen.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Sam, you mean the eleventh best guard in the WNBA,
according to her her fellow WNBA players continues.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah, it does continue, So yeah, maybe that's perfect timing.
We'll tune into that. But g yeah, I was gonna say, Okay,
Danny g is our producer watching Silo. He's on the
phones at Ay seven seven nine on Fox Iowa. Sam,
our sound architect, is on the ones and twoes. We
got the Korn hanging out with us today with your updates,
and like we do on every Wednesday, Mike, who runs
(04:03):
this take?
Speaker 1 (04:04):
It might be a little sticky, yeah of a take.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Yeah, well we'll see and midwek major the biggest stories
in sports and pop culture. We get into it on
the show. But you said the Kron is with us today.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Yeah, I don't know why.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
I picture on a down night with there's not a
lot of sports or shows to watch. Do you picture
Isaac in like a velvet robe with like a pipe
by a fireplace?
Speaker 2 (04:23):
You know, I never did, but when you say it
does sound pretty accurate.
Speaker 6 (04:27):
Actually, like that, the velvet rope, the velvet robe is
already on the carpet.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah, you're there, just slippers. Yeah he's there and just slippers,
just hands on his hips. So rich before we get
into what you want to watch tonight, and maybe Erlander's retiring,
and unfortunately Lebron's always.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
In the news.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Like Danny g said, he's like the the Aaron Rodgers
now of the NBA. It's almost like you don't want
to talk about him. You don't want to give it
the attention. You just want to know where he's going
to end up.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
But I must.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
But yeah, after, yeah, before we get into all that fun,
there is no soccer tonight.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
But did you see the games yesterday?
Speaker 4 (05:09):
First?
Speaker 2 (05:09):
I want to say that that's what separates like championship
teams and what we saw the USA do. And that's
no knock on the USA, but they had an opportunity
to win over millions and trillions and millions of fans
that were tuned in, and millions they were tuned in.
And I'm quoting our bud, Hercules Gomez, who played for
Team USA and who was a friend and colleague of ours.
(05:31):
They fed us this belief that they had a chance.
We believe, so we got caught up in this fever
only to watch this dud of a performance. It was
one of the weakest butt fumbles of World Cup soccer
that we ever watched. So they had the opportunity to
seize the moment and win people over. Didn't even need
to be a victory Rich that would have been great,
(05:52):
but some fight be.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
What everyone wanted.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Covinogus, our video guy spot this morning on our Patreon
was was like, like.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
What were your expectations? Did you think they were going
to win the whole thing?
Speaker 3 (06:03):
And I said no, I just think most Americans were like,
you know, if they could win two knockout games and
get to the final eight, seven finals, that would have
been a step in the direction of like, Wow, we're
making progress. But that lackluster ass performance. I know, we've
had like a couple of days to think about it now.
That was Yeah, that's what every.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Casuals fan images like this is what we were excited about.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
You lied to us. We saw, Yeah, we toured in,
we got excited.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
We believed from that analogy yesterday, Convino, it's like a
team in March Madness that it's like a fifteen or
sixteen seed that were you know, even fourteen. They win
one or two games and you're like, oh my god,
the magic and then they end up bumping into like
a Michigan State or a Duke or someone.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
You're like, oh, that's right back to reality.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
And what did we say when we filled in for
Dan Patrick. It is lack of star power and people
stepping up, and every team seems to have their star
as we discussed, and we saw that on full display yesterday,
the difference, the contrast between a USA and an Argentina
defending champions They were down in the game and you
got a guy like Messi who leads you back to victory.
Like in those championship moments. They step up and they
(07:06):
deliver and prove why they're the superstars that they are,
and there's no more debate. This guy's the goat. He's
the greatest. We saw him with his assists, we see
him with the goals. They come back and beat Egypt
three to two. Not to mention the Switzerland game was
a sweet shootout at the end, you know, beating Columbia.
So we had great games yesterday, but this Argentina one
is the one I'm focusing on. That's the difference Number one.
(07:28):
Number two. The egypt coach we got to discuss, like what.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Was going on this.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
I thought the question was gonna be who's more unhinged,
a dad of a teenage daughter or the Egyptian coach.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
The dad of a teenage daughter walks around kind of
walks around defeated, you know, like, oh man, I'm just
I don't know what I'm gonna do defeated. Yes, that's
the only thing in common. The coach of team Egypt
walks around angry. Yeah, just there's no anger in the
(07:59):
defeated just just misery.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
There was a lot of anger and poor sportsmanship and
sour grapes, and you know, there was a lot of
things said and it does make you think, you know,
I'm not I never buy into rigging in sports. I
just don't. But you know there was some things said.
We do hear FIFA's corrupt all the time. We've heard
that forever, so let's talk about it. There's no soccer tonight.
(08:23):
Question one, so what are we gonna do? What are
we doing?
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Number two is did you see the coach yesterday?
Speaker 3 (08:29):
It's a night to go on a nice date and
night midwich is no, no reservations needed at nice restaurants.
And maybe after some World Cup and just focus on
other things, maybe going a nice old date with the
wife your girlfriend tonight, Like, don't don't blow this opportunity
and do nothing.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Get some ice cream.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
You said ice cream. I could go for frozen yogurt.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Frozen yogurt is a is the is the beach of
ice cream?
Speaker 4 (08:51):
What people like, I'm going on for fro yo?
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Go all the way get ice cream, none of this
froyo nonsense for fro Yo speak.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Speaking of my screen, we do have a Stone cold
Steve Austin stopping by today.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
No Coldstone Steve.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
I keep saying it wrong. Coldstone Steve Austin stopping.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
By today, Michael, Mike looks like if Stone Colt just
had too much cold Stone.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yeah, yeah, I know, I just I have an inability
to say it the way I'm trying to say it.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Coldstone steveas and he's got a doozy of an ice
cream take today.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
I know he's got a crazy take. So Rich, let's
talk about not only are you doing something fun tonight
because it's like our first free night, but also what
were your thoughts with the Egypt coach yesterday? When I
talk about things he said he's saying that the game
was rigged. I don't know how you rig a perfect
pass from MESSI first of all, like dropping dots, I know, but.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
He's saying that.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
He's saying the goal that was called back, that was
like the beginning of he like, they can't let this happen.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
It was definitely suspect, right, they have this breakaway, they score,
You're like, man, that was incredible, and it gets called
back from something like before the play evens started.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Like, man, that was tough. But that doesn't allow you
to give up three goals.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Yeah, So that goes to my point as well. It's like,
but the other stuff, you're not rigging that, it's impossible.
The guy was spitting on fans, uncalled for unprofessional, just disgusting,
probably the lowest form of disrespect one could show. Uh,
the f used the fighting the photographers, like we saw
(10:23):
probably the ultimate display of bad sportsmanship yesterday.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
I gotta ask you along the lines of this, the
Egyptian coach being unhinged. A lot of unsportsmanlike stuff, a
lot of unpro activities.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
But let me ask you, like, what could get you unhinged?
Speaker 3 (10:40):
I mean not to bring up, you know, dad life
or marital life, or going through some stress. I think
that sports are one of the things that could really
unhinge you. Not that you're gonna be like the Egyptian coach,
but did you see.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
The coach on when someone calls me chicken?
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Oh yeah, mcclystyle.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Yeah, like Martin mcclyde here, I'm like, shit, what would
you say?
Speaker 3 (11:04):
I think sports are in the top tier category of
things that could unhind you because I've seen grown men
in rex softball or pick up basketball look like they're gonna.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
Lose their mind. You're like, dude, take a step back.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Road rage another time, you're like, you're driving in the
car and people want to they want to kill someone else.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
I think that's problem they do. That's probably the toughest
anyone feels like. It's It's even worse than behind the keyboard,
is behind the steering wheel, because you just lose it.
Speaker 5 (11:29):
Like when people are following each other and then they
end up like getting into a parking lot and get
them into a knife fight or something.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
Yeah, sometimes going on like your life was just throwing.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Off.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
You ever see these videos guys where you know, two
people are so like hating each other in a parking
lot and someone sorts ramming the other person with their car.
Speaker 5 (11:51):
They're just not even thinking with their brain. They're thinking
with pure impulse and pure emotional rage.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
You know, you saw it not only with the Egyptian coach,
and I'm not making excuses by any means, and nowhere
near this did you see the Philadelphia Phillies coach like
he had to be held backause belly was flopping out
of his jersey and coaching jacket.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Like dude, right, no, not maddingly.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
One of the assistant coaches. I believe it was the
third base coach, Danny g You know what I'm talking about, right.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Yeah, I saw it. I'm gonna look up his name
right now, don't you.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Know His belly was flopping out and in that moment,
I think he realized, I have to stop.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
My belly is out of my jersey.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Yeah, those dudes just go ballistic.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Sometimes it's for show, you know, but sometimes it's just
there's your favorite.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Who's your favorite as a kid, Was it Loo Penella.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
As a kid?
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Yeah, of course, Tommy Lesorda. We all grew up watching
like all these why Can't We Be Friends compilations and
baseball Funny side Up, and you'd always see these compilations
of managers getting in the face of umpires, and it
would it would always be to why Can't We Be Friends?
And Billy Martin Yellen and Neuro Weaver, and you'd see
(12:55):
all these classic Panela highlights. But honestly, since you asked
my favorite clip is, I don't even know who it was.
It wasn't Wally Backman. Was it was some minor league
coach who throws like grenades.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Army crawling.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
Yeah, that's funny, Wally Backman. Wally Backman had a major
minor league meltdown.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
When bats or something yet and cod when you.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Added that up with some of his other antics, a
lot of people say that's what prevented Wally Backman from
ever managing in the bigs.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
He just seems a little too under.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Yeah, he's a loose cannon, so I think there's a
lot of validity and truth to some of these guys
just not being able to control themselves. I also think
it's it's coaches. I mean, it is this fact they're
trying to get their teams rallied up and fired up.
So they're looking to get boot just to show that
they care and that the coach has their back. So
it's a little showmanship, it's a little of being a
(13:43):
being unhinged, a little mix of everything.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
But get you what could push you to that point? Women?
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Women, women like you said, bed drivers.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
So being up too oho on the defending World Cup
champions where you should be like a ninety nine percent
odds to win the game.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
And you know what, I guess when there's high stakes,
you know that's really interesting. You put it that way, Sam,
When you put it that way right, it's every four
years there's two hundred and something teams that are playing
right in the World Cup. At one point the chances
of you winning are slim, and you got a chance
(14:21):
to beat the defending champions. I guess if anything's gonna
push you over the edge, if you think you were
done dirty and you truly believe in your heart of
hearts that you were. I guess that could make you
go ballistic. It's just a matter of what you're capable
of doing though, like would you be spitting on people?
Speaker 1 (14:37):
I don't know that.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Can I tell you, guys a really funny story because
it's I just saw something that it's like wildly funny
that I don't think that you had to be there
type of thing.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
So, you know, you've seen guys.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
In REX sports lose their minds, right, Like guys just
fly off the handle. It could be a call from
a softball umpire or you're playing in some you know
YMCA basketball league.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
Someone calls a foul and a grown man just loses
his s right like, ah, like goes insane.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
I guess already right.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
So and maybe you know what and added up if
you're grown men, if your grown men playing FREX sports,
when you assume that, if you're a grown man that
plays REX sports, part of that is your unleashing and
you're unloading of all the stuff going on in life, family, work,
this and that.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
Like your escape is playing REX Sports.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
So if if you have a bad call on a
day on the same day your bossy all your wife's
giving you crap.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
Like you can see where a grown man loses it.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
Here was a guy in my rex softball league. I
won't call him up because it's probably a sensitive subject.
This guy lost his mind and apparently was like telling
some other guy like I wanna I'm gonna whoop your
ass in the parking lot and started. Honestly, this guy
lost his marbles. He got he got suspended like from
the field, like for a week. Like listen, man, that
(15:53):
can you know we're grown men. Cool enough, man, You're
you're suspended for a week, you know, take a break.
You gotta control yourself.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
It's clearly anger issues mixed with adrenaline rush mixed with
I don't know, maybe childhood issues. I don't know, but
I'm sure there's more going on if people react that way.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Agreed, But imagine for one minute, your wife is giving
you the hardest time, your boss like told you you're
not getting the rage you want it, and then it
all culminates. You're playing pick up basketball in a gym,
right and it's a tie game and there's some weak
ass foul called and you lose your mind on a referee.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Yeah, like you're mad.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
I get it, but it's all these other things that
are exploding at the same time, and maybe that's part
of the reason, or maybe it's what Sam said before,
like the steaks are so high that if you're just
a little unhinged, like the Egyptian coach, like maybe all
your worst just comes out in that moment. Happy Gilmore
had that issue the steaks.
Speaker 4 (16:47):
It's the stakes involved.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
But also I think if the stakes aren' high, even
if it's like I said, REX sports or something.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Or and you don't want to justify your rich, you
just want to like make some sense of it. So
we're not giving any excuses.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
Here professional high stakes or are.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
There's a lot of grown men and women that have
a lot of stress and a lot going on in
their lives and if they if they participate in REX
sports in the community, we like I said, the same way,
you could lose your mind that we're a stupid traffic jam.
Sometimes you have a breaking point and that's when it breaks.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
So get this. This guy gets kicked out of the
softball league I'm in.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Yeah, he's so upset about this, like like mad that
he got kicked out.
Speaker 4 (17:24):
He tried to pull a Bobby Valentine.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
He showed up the next week with a big hat
on and like a COVID mask and made it seem like, yeah,
just uh, don't tell them.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
It's me thinking that.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
No one would notice. That's so stupid man.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
And he got caught again, no doubt again for a week.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
So yeah, people, people lose their mind. But this Egyptian
coach no excuse. But we've seen it, like you said,
when you're spitting on fans and crossing the line, that's
one thing. Coaches that are bumping chests with umpires like there,
Leslie Nielsen and naked gun.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Yeah, here he's out, he's safe. Here's out, He's all
right out of here.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
And if you missed it, it was a hell of
a game, and there was some questionable calls, no doubt,
and I guess you know, when you lose a heartbreaker
like that. It doesn't excuse him from his actions, but
it does explain it a little bit. He was spitting
on fans, he's cursed on everybody who's fighting photographers, and
he's claiming that FIFA rig this whole thing for the
defending champions Messi and Argentina who fought back and won
(18:27):
that game. And yeah, it's it's unfortunate. You never want
you never want to act a fool. You never want
to let people get under your skin in that way
in real life. What's that saying, rich, he who angers
you controls you.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
You never want right line?
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Yeah, you never want to let people see you at
your worst. And unfortunately it happened to him on a
really big stage. But I guess when you factor in
the stakes again, not that we justify it, but it
makes sense.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
No, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
So, now that the World Cup is narrowing down, man
teams involved, tonight's the night off. Like you said, Morocco's
playing tomorrow. MESSI survives to live another day. There's there's
two questions, actually, there's a few questions here. Number one,
what do you what are you doing on these off
nights when when it's only baseball in World Cup? N
(19:17):
W NBA, Oh, I'm sorry, n WM, Danny G I'm
with you, Silo. I just wish it was more than
one episode.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Maybe you do some stuff you always put off, like
you clean the baseboards by your floors.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
Could I recommend I'm watching this tonight so you could.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
You know the secret to do that? Right? You just
like wear wet sock and just you know, go around
the know.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
I get this. I saw the best hack. I'm giving
you the Instagram.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Yeah, you know, you just put a little wind decks
or something on your wet socks and then just rub
your big toe around the baseboards.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
You're all set. I love the wet toe trick.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
But have you seen this com You know you're gonna
do this tonight now that I tell you, Okay, I
mean I feel like people.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
Have done this before with sponges or a towel.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
But there's something So let's the let's make a plan.
What am I doing this the hack?
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Because we're you know, people doing a lot of cookouts
watching the game outside on the patio and the deck,
you know, your dirty ass sliding door or outdoor you
know doors, Yeah, saying, put a put a spray a
whole big paper towel down or to toilet paper. Line
the entry way with toilet paper over spray with cleaner,
then open and close the door a few times and
(20:22):
it gets in every one of those little crappy grooves
in the sliding door and you're you'd be amazed, how
disgusting you are.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Oh, you got to send me the video of this
bad boy, so I can follow through it.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
As the kids say, it's oddly satisfied.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
We have a we have a free night to catch
up on something or do something you've been putting off.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
So what I recommend?
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Can I recommend the rom com that I even saw
our buddies at barstool We're saying, is like the best
rom com in like twenty years for real, Like if
you want to get if you want to get romantic
with the wife or your girlfriend. Yeah, apparently on Netflix.
Voicemails for Isabelle is like, uh, it's like the modern
day notebook.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
Bro, We're going to watch a cool stallone movie since
his birthday was out this week.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
No, no, no, no, tonight's rom com now, so you
can get back to everything else tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Yeah, it is Demolition Man for my birthday week. Absolutely,
it is day going into hump night. Yeah, maybe ump Action. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
Do you want to say tone? You want to set
the tone? You're you gonna watch the lung.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Bring some romance?
Speaker 4 (21:18):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (21:18):
All right?
Speaker 2 (21:18):
So Fox Sports Radio Nation, no World Cup for the
first time long time. What's your plan? And we got
to talk. Well, I don't want to say old guy
stuff because I take a lot of pride and staying.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Young and spry. Yeah, but uh, let's say.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Interesting maybe old guy stuff you catch yourself interested in
at an old.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Old guy tendencies.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
As we all get older, Yeah, you start caring about
different things.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
I want you say, folks, grown folks.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
What's that grown folk thing that you care about now
that you didn't care about maybe five ten years ago.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
As that's a real fun one. We'll get to that.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
We'll talk some maybe a little NFL get us ready
for football, because that'll distract us, you know, in less
than a month. And Danny g I don't know if
you saw this based on the World Cup. To wrap
that as we get closer to next Sunday, less than
two weeks until the final game at Met Life in Jersey.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
I mean you're going ahead. Tomorrow's game is pretty dope.
France Morocco is gonna be great.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
Tom Brady, Tom Brady said that that messy comeback. He
thinks that that is maybe even more impressive than his
twenty eight to three win against the Falcons.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
And I don't know if Tom Brady just being nice.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
But Egypt was Their chances of winning that game were
over ninety percent at one point to come back, you know,
and score three goals in that short amount of time.
The way they did it, it took perfection and NonStop hartitude.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Is that a word?
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Hartitude? I like that? Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (22:44):
Even if Egypt let's say say they won this game,
but they didn't win the whole World Cup, they would
take away that win over Argentina as like, Wow, what
a consolation Prizey, I'm so proud about that.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
You beat Argentina, and you know Argentinas, they're not well
liked in a lot of places.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Can I defending champions? So what a major victory that
would have been?
Speaker 5 (23:03):
Can I tell you something really funny and clever and witty.
I don't know if he came up with this, but
Taylor Hippolis, who's a co host and a producer for
a Stu Gotts, he said FIFA stands for fix it
for Argentina.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
I don't know if he came out that's fantastic.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
I think we're gonna say MESSI blew an opportunity after
that third goal. They should have definitely done a little
Bengals walk like an Egyptian And then you know how,
you know how the you know how the team Belgium
started doing the Trump dance.
Speaker 4 (23:28):
They should have started doing a little Bengals.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
The Brich is getting ready already for next hour with
Big Mic. You know that's so stupid, bro, Yeah, so stupid.
I gotta laugh at that. I could just picture Bessie
just doing it like, yeah, I would run it right.
They wouldn't do that, by the way.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
Comno, that's why the coach got so mad. MESSI looked
at me and he was like, hey, so dumb.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
That's so dumb. You gotta watch how.
Speaker 2 (23:49):

Speaker 2 (25:47):
Spit like an Egyptian, rage like an Egyptian, like Egen.
But you know, we sort of got them off the
hook a little bit. It when you factor in, like
you post a really interesting question, rich. Everybody has a button,
right hot button, and I think for everybody, if you
(26:11):
have the feeling of you were done unjust and you
were done dirty, that'll set you off. He just happens
to have high stakes and happens to be on the
biggest stage ever. But anytime you know or you feel
you're in the right and you were done dirty, that'll
set you off. If someone's trying to rip you off,
(26:32):
that'll set you off. It's not a good look. We're
just explaining.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Hell, I'm not trying to tightness anymore.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
That's right, Sam, Sam, I feel like I feel like
you've played the clip before. But when you know, like essentially,
when Marty McFly is called chicken, when you called Marty
McFly chicken, what happened?
Speaker 4 (26:51):
McFly? Nobody calls me.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
Chicken?
Speaker 4 (26:58):
Doesn't.
Speaker 5 (26:58):
He wreck his car and and he breaks his hand
and he can't play guitar anymore?
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Right, So what's your hot button decision?
Speaker 2 (27:04):
We saw the coaches, the coach of Egypt's hot button,
and yeah, there's some truth to way. I mean, he
was done a little dirty, that's the truth. But still
you can't take away from Margentina's comeback. Cavino and Rich
live from the Fox Sports Radio studio, and the Cup
speaking of is taking over the US except for tonight
and only DraftKings has you fully covered right now. Use

He's way more rockin than you or me. He's been
(27:52):
to every game. And tomorrow we had the Foxborough for
Morocco France. Could Morocco Paul the upset?
Speaker 1 (28:00):
That'd be pretty so, I mean Rocksboro. They'll be taken over. Yeah,
it's gonna be fun to see.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
Man.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
I can't wait. Now we'll get back to soccer. We
got to talk Lebron. We got Mike who runs this take.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
We don't have to talk Lebron. We might talk Lebron again.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
Todding cold Stone Steve Auston will be here with his
take who He has a controversial take on Wednesdays plus
Midweek Major with Sam the stories in sports and pop culture?
We decide are they Midweek Major? But the big story
today this is how slow of the day it is.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
By the way, Mike's segment should be renamed like is
he trying to get canceled?
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Right?
Speaker 4 (28:37):
Yeah? I know. Every week I'm like, what is he saying?
Speaker 3 (28:40):
So?
Speaker 4 (28:40):
And today is worse.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
Than ever somed it. Instead of Mike who runs this take,
it's Mike who burns this place. Yeah, mikeel burns this place.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Wait for that in about twenty minutes.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
But you know, one of the bigger stories today is
Justin Verlander retiring after what twenty one plus years in
the bigs, the oldest guy in sports. We pointed that
out recently. I did a little AI search because my
girlfriend asked me, like a really random question and expected
me to know. I hate when stuff like that happened.
She's like, who's the oldest guy in sports? I'm like,
(29:13):
right now, like, I don't know. Maybe I just think
I was like Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
I don't know. She's like, how do you not now,
I'm like, I don't know. It's not like a I
could give you an educated guess, but I'm not. Hold on,
let me think about it.
Speaker 4 (29:26):
You get so, you get mad that she asked you
questions and you're just always close.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
You well, I mean it was Verlander that was the answer. Yeah,
so forty three plus years old, right, DANYG. But he's
Owen won this year twelve point two seven ERA with Detroit,
and he announced his retirement and based on that, and again, congrats,
you know what, congrats. I admire the Verlanders. Justin had
(29:51):
an amazing career. He was very dominant. He dominated my Yankees.
I hated when he pitched, which means I think he's great.
Even his brother, Ben Verlander, I think is a great.
Verlander does a great job covering MLB and very likable.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Not only does he have game on the field off
the field, kicking it to Kate Upton during a commercial
for MLB two K twelve met her there and he's like, hey,
what's up. I'm justin Verlander And at that time Kate
Upton still, you know, beautiful mom and model. But at
that time Kate Upton was like the it girl and
Verlander was the it pitcher.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
So he made the move.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
So he's the man, like I think now we could
acknowledge that if you're a like Astros hater or Tiger's
hater or whatever. Regardless, guy had a stellar career and
my goodness, yeah he did good for himself. Based on
his retirement announcement.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
We ended the season, He's gonna go by the way. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Yeah, we all catch ourselves again. We're trying to what
are we saying?
Speaker 4 (30:51):
Grown?
Speaker 1 (30:52):
What are we grown folks?
Speaker 2 (30:53):
Yeah, we all catch ourselves becoming more interested in grown
folks sort of things, Like my first indicator of grown
folk likings.
Speaker 4 (31:03):
Well, we're not saying that.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
The reality colo is that all these athletes that are
in retirement mode, the Tom Brady's and Aaron Rodgers and
the Lebrons and Verlanders, we're in their age group. So
we're watching guys our age finally hang it up. And
after this, could you know everyone will be younger than
us in sports, which is like, oh man, yeah, so
that's the that's the coming of age. The coming of
ages when the Verlanders and Brady's and Aaron Rodgers and
(31:28):
Lebron when all these guys hang it up. When if
you're in your forties like us, what happens is that
you are no longer younger than like anyone playing in
the league.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
Yeah, some grown folk, Yeah, that's a realization, I guess. Yeah.
I don't say the terminology or old guys because that's
still our grand pappies yea, but the guys our grand dad.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
And we're still the youngest in the game, right, So
we're not trying to say we're old guys, but yeah,
you have a little taste of it. Every just mature
now to gain mature. So one of my grown folks
sort of observations Rich I still don't even tribute to
getting older. I blame I blame Game of Thrones because
all of a sudden, I really got into subtitles for
(32:10):
how many years now?
Speaker 1 (32:11):
Right as a kid. You're like, who you thought you
were gonna say? You got into dungeons and Dragons? No, no,
no no.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
But I think, like there was so much whispering going
on in that show, and I could never hear anything,
and I'm like losing focus and track. You put the
subtitles on for that, and I think I never looked back.
And then people would be like, you watched the subtitles.
I'm like, yeah, I read them. I'm I'm more invested
when I read and know what's going on.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
I don't miss anything.
Speaker 4 (32:37):
It's so funny.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
Last night we're, uh, you know, I'm in Texas, Texas
with you know, Grandma, my wife's family's from here, and
some nieces and nephews. The last night we did a
little movie night with the kids and we throw in
one of the old Minions.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
Movies and close capturing was on and the kids were like,
it takes up the screen. Can you turn that like
old thing off?
Speaker 2 (32:54):
I'm like, yeah, I tell you, yeah, sorry, yeah, I've
grown to love it in my uh as I grow,
So you know what, start thinking about those grown folk
things that you take a liking to.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
As we honor Justin.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
Verlander, I about man, think about it and we'll get
to your phone calls after.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
Well, there he is. The kron has your update.
Speaker 4 (33:12):
Ooh, I love what's up man, guys.
Speaker 6 (33:14):
Justin Verlander with three career no hitters as we speak,
Dylan Cease of the Toronto Blue Jays is six outs
away from his second career no hitters.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
I was gonna say seaside no through one before, so yeah,
that's it.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
That's right.
Speaker 6 (33:28):
He threw one for the Padres in July of twenty
twenty four at Washington. He has a no hitter going
through seven innings today at San Francisco, as the Blue
Jays have a five to nothing lead over the Giants
there now in the top of the eighth inning. Here's
the thing Dylan sees as we speak, one hundred and
six pitches through seven innings.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
Ah.
Speaker 6 (33:48):
Man, it looks like right now seeing him in the dugout,
that he is going to come out at least to
start the eighth inning. Hopefully the nerds will not prevail
today in San Francisco and he can have a shot.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
Ilo U will you what was your professional sports take
on Yuri Perez when he threw seven perfect innings? So
the Marlins the other day they took him out of
the game and then within three pitches, not only that,
no hitter, perfect game, and the shutout all gone to
three pitches.
Speaker 6 (34:18):
Well, there you have.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
It right there.
Speaker 6 (34:19):
Anytime the nerds get involved with a pending no hitter, nerds,
not only does the immediate relief pitcher blow the no hitter,
but his team often blows the game.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Yeah, that blows.
Speaker 6 (34:35):
So I'm all for the nerds and the analytics and
blah blah blah, But when it comes to a no hitter,
don't with a no hitter, if you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
Yeah, let him go, let him go.
Speaker 4 (34:46):
Okay, take a get a feel for it, just let
it happen.
Speaker 6 (34:49):
I mean Tim Lenskam threw what was his no hitter?
It was like one hundred and thirty three, one hundred
and thirty four pitches at least, I mean Nolan Ryan's
no hitters.
Speaker 4 (34:59):
I mean, yeah, it might have been two hundred yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 6 (35:02):
Mean we are all of like opinions when it comes
to this anyway. In the NBA today, Lebron James posted
a brief video on his ig stories of himself at
an unnamed golf course in a golf cart. Ironically, speaking
of golf, today, at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship,
(35:23):
Golden State Warrior star Steph Curry was asked about Lebron's
free agency.
Speaker 9 (35:27):
Say more so, I'm interested to just play golf with Lebron.
We'll handle the basketball stuff, but I want to see
the golf Lebron free agent. He's he's out here really
grinding on the game. But I'm sure you know, we
obviously would love to play together. We hopefully it happens,
but you know, he's deserved the opportunity in the right
to take his time with the decision.
Speaker 6 (35:48):
Say upgrade your FIFA World Cup twenty twenty six setup,
build like Beckham from living room to lawn with the
home depot and take the fast free delivery. Assist the
home depot. Official FIFA World Cup up twenty twenty six
supporter subject to availability. All's quiet at the World Cup today,
but the quarter finals kick off tomorrow four pm Eastern
between France and Morocco and Foxborough guys.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
Thank you, Thank you, Lo and Kron. By the way,
I looked it up.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Linscum threw one hundred and forty eight pitches in his
first no hitter in twenty thirteen. One hundred and thirteen
in a second. Let the dude go and look up.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
Yeah, that Uri Perez perfect game the other day. That
was infuriating, especially you're a Marlins fan the worst.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
Let them go and the chron will give you the updates.
Now continue thinking about old guys.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
Stuff.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
I'm sorry, grown folks, stuff that you catch yourself caring
about things you didn't care about in your quote unquote
younger days intribute to Verlander's retirement at forty three years
old and a twenty one twenty one plus stellar career
for a Hall of Famer. All right, we got more
Cavino and Rich and your phone calls, some feedback next
(36:57):
on Fox Sports Radio right now.
Speaker 3 (36:59):

Who's this sign with Sam? This is Beck covering old
man by Neil Young Beck or Jeff Beck? This is
like Beck, like loser? Beck?
Speaker 2 (38:21):
Here really doesn't sound like Beck. It's awesome, pretty cool.
So hey, we're not old guys, but we're definitely grown.
And what are those grown folk things? You find yourself
like it nowadays, as we honor Justin Verlander retiring Covino
and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. Let me tell you
this too. We filled in for Dan Patrick yesterday. We
(38:41):
did the hat trick last week, the holiday week which,
by the way, I hope you had a happy holiday weekend.
We had Monday off, and then we filled in for
DP yesterday. If you missed any of the shows, please
find them on YouTube. We're actually streaming live now. You
can join us live now at Covino and Rich FSR

Rich and don't miss out. We had some fun shows.
(39:02):
But now it's time for our tire rack Play of
the day live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. It's
definitely worth going back to yesterday to hear Messi's equalizer again.
Speaker 6 (39:12):
Equalizer to play again, abusing Lionel Messi deflection there.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
On the right show something.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
Shave y'all doing goat things?
Speaker 1 (39:35):
Did you guys hear Cantor on Telemundo Listen he loses
his voice.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
Stunts just make you realize we need to step up
our whole run.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
We do, we do, We're learning though.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
Well that was the World Cup on Fox and the
Tiract Player of the Day. For forty years, Tirex's.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
Been helping customers find the right tires for how.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
What and where they drive back by free road hazard protection,
convenient insulation options like mobile tire installation.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
Our good friends at tire Raq the way tire buying
should be.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
Before we get into it, Loan Kron, The Kron has something?
What up, Loan Cron?
Speaker 6 (40:21):
Yeah, I've got to call the match winner from yesterday
by the Argentina radio announcer whose picture I sent you
guys a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (40:28):
With the hair, the greatest hair in the game.
Speaker 6 (40:29):
Yet here's how it sounded, and there's an unusual sound
effect at the end.
Speaker 4 (40:52):
Here nobody go.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
Particunc those bedsprings. Yeah, what was that? Isaac? You and
I were kind of theorizing what that might stand for.
Speaker 4 (41:15):
You're a guest. Argentina is getting on tonight after that.
Speaker 6 (41:18):
That's really when I think it sounds like, honest.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
There's going to be a lot of Argentinians made tonight.
Speaker 4 (41:23):
Have you seen Messi's wife?
Speaker 1 (41:25):
I love you mean you right? That's a good stuff.
Speaker 4 (41:27):
All right?
Speaker 1 (41:27):
So back to Ireland. The rich I thought of a
few other examples.
Speaker 4 (41:32):
Oh, old guy, I'm sorry, grown man things.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
Thrown folk things that we've taken a liking to. As
you know, there's coming of age moments like justin Verlander
retiring today. I mentioned subtitles, right, And I don't ever
say it is because I'm old. I say because Game
of Thrones got me into it. Yeah, I couldn't hear
what they were saying along those seam lines. I don't
take accountability of necessarily getting older because I'm in denial. Yeah,
(41:58):
it's because I think docum memories got so much better
as we got older as time went on.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
Dude, I'm obsessed with that American experiment one like what
I never thought I would have watched her five part documentary.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
Anytime there's a new documentary released, I'm like, ooh ooh, yes,
I get so excited, where like I have to justify myself. No, no, no,
they just got way better. It's not that my interests
are like old guy stuff. They're just that much better now.
And I think there's true to that. I think there's
true to that.
Speaker 3 (42:25):
