Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, thanks for listening to the Cadino and Rich podcast.
Be sure to catch us live every weekday from five
to seven Eastern to the four Pacific on Fox Sports Radio.
Find your local station for comedo Rich at Foxsports Radio
dot com, or stream us live every day on the
iHeartRadio app like searching FSR. All right, tonight, guys, I'm
gonna watch Quarterback and Hard Knocks. I'm in the mindset now, Yeah,

(00:25):
I'm in the mood. Let's see if you've got anything
out of it. It's these shows and hopefully ours gets
you fired up for football. I mean I'm fired up
just going over dumb schedules with you guys about the Cardinals.
If that got me fired up, then by all the
feedback split on that too. I said, the Cardinals are
gonna win two games tops, and Danny's like, come on, man,
that'll at least win four. I'm like, no, And for

(00:47):
those of you keeping score at home, we skip the falcons.
The falcons when you're going over the bikes, we'll watch
it minus one. When we went over the Viking schedule,
I landed at eight and eight. I'm like, how is
that possible? We forgot the falcon so I'll go nine
and eight eight eight and a half was the Vegas
over run Vegas. We're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio

(01:07):
on a Taco Tuesday. We're just guessing, but the most
fun educated way you try.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
You know, you do, you do your homework. But and
if Rich didn't get to your favorite team yet, don't worry.
It'll be coming up and he'll be wrong about their schedule.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
No doubt for sure. Waitestically enough, Cavino's like, you know,
what Vegas does is just really a more calculated, ai
educated version of what we just did. Yeah, I mean
because and they're usually pretty accurate. You look, you look
at a schedule and you're really just taking guesses based
on little glimpses of what you're seeing, based on the
past as well, and you know the vibe of the teams,

(01:42):
right and how good they're going to be, and some
will surprise you and some won't. But you got a
pretty decent understand You know what the best part of
preseason football is, well, he knowing that the real for everybody, Yeah,
the real season's coming soon start and hope for all.
And it was months and months for all your banged
up players to get healthy, so no one's really dealing
with the injury bug quite yet. Knock on woods. So
you're sort of like you have this weird like optimistic

(02:05):
cool hope. Yeah, like that's the start of everything, Like
you know, think because you remember the teams that were
three and fourteen and made the playoffs the next year,
or the teams that were in like the AFC or
NFC championship and divisional round that poop the bed the
next year and all of a sudden they stink, so
that the fun is like no one knows, not called
pooping the bed, It's called a grumpy grumpy remember the

(02:27):
Johnny Depp story? Do you remember the John Right story? Hey?
You know what else is a common theme this preseason,
this training camp. We see it on Hard Knocks and
I'm so excited for episode two tonight is how the
at practice, how the offense is fighting with the defense.
We talked about the Chiefs today, talking about the Raiders
and Max Crosby and Cousins and yeah, we get it,

(02:48):
you know, tensions high, You have a lot to prove,
but man, they were going at it in Seattle. So
we tried to decide yesterday is that friction or fire.
Is that the fire you want to see or is
that the friction that you don't want? I don't know. Yesterday,
you know, after we were on you know we got
the odd couple and I was talking to Ephraim. Yeah,
he said, you don't want that, and he's just stay

(03:09):
away from the quarter. He's like, you know, he comes
from an offensive lineman background, and he's like, yo, that
happens in camp amongst your own team. He goes. Then
all of a sudden, the offensive line is strategizing, you know,
we got to get him back. And then the defense
is thinking that now you're fighting with your own team,
and he's like, that's a no no, like goes. Max
Crosby is intense, but you don't go pushing around Kirk Cousins.
It's funny too, because what they're preaching and we're talking

(03:31):
about a championship caliber team the Seahawks on hard knocks
is what makes a team a championship team is the camaraderie,
is the trust that they have in each other right,
and the love and family that they create as an organization.
Yet they're at each other's throat. Man, it's been a
common theme or maybe or maybe all of a sudden,
the narrative comes out that Kirk Cousins and Max Crosby

(03:51):
are now like best friends, and that was like a
moment of maybe, remember.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Did hug it out? And the one the one thing
I would say about that, like because it kind of
reminds me of Rue.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
What if it's remember the Titans moment where all of
a sudden, now everyone loves the y.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
That was your example yesterday. But remember when Rudy was
going too hard in practice and the big lineman shoved
him down and he's like, I'm just trying to help
you prepare for what was a Purdue or something. That's
kind of what it's like. I mean, their teammates at
the end of the day.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
So Rennick said Crosby simply bullying Cousins. But you see
it firsthand on Hard Knocks, and I'm excited for episode two.
So hey, if we didn't do our job getting you ready,
you'll enjoy that tonight on HBO. Max, does everyone have
one player on their team that, whether it's a rookie
or a new acquisition that you're like, Oh, I can't

(04:39):
wait to see if this is a nothing burger or
a big impact player. Yeah, who's that fer Raiders Dan?
I mean obviously mendoz in the obvious. Is there any
like maybe maybe how your offense runs with a new
Wellshenti has a different shit in like better shape too.
This year.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
You know they're the linebackers. Everybody's making noise about Nakobe
Dean and he's the new leader of the defense in
the middle of the field. That's going to be fun
to watch. And then one draft pick, Hezekaiah Masses. They
say that this kid, he's out a cow. He's been
turning heads at camp, So pay attention to that name.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Cavino, you were saying on Hard Knocks as a receiver
a player on the seat Rice, Yeah, he's this quick
running back that they're using like a receiver. It's just
so far again, in practice, it's all different, and they
said it a million times on the show, and that's
just how football is. Everything's different when you put the
pads on and you really start hitting, so you never
you never know how that translates moving forward. Is it
just my forty nine ers algorithm or yo kron Danny, Guys,

(05:35):
you guys seen any buzz that stribbling might be the
best wide receiver on the field. They's something like forty
nine ers buzz that he's playing out of his mind,
you know, third third round pick. Remember people thought, oh
the Niners got him too soon, or other people were saying,
like he's like underrated, like one of the best receivers
in the draft out of old miss.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
I love his first name, Dijon. Is that how you
say it has got a z in it?

Speaker 1 (05:57):
I think Deshaun or On like a like a mustard.
I think it's Sean but great. But let me tell
you it's it's really fun when you see those young
players and you're like, again, the season could start. It's
like one catcher nine yards and you that was nothing,
or some young kid could light it up. And that's
just a whole other layer of what makes the NFL

(06:20):
so fun because every year there's gonna be someone that
disappoints in, someone that over over, you know, overdoes it.
But look out tonight. Jadarian Price is the dude on
the Seahawks that they're hyping up a lot. All right,
So I'm Cavino. That is Rich Davis, Danny g the
Raiders fan. We got sixty Ryan on the ones and twos,

(06:41):
big Poppy stop and buying a few minutes, but we
made several references toward it, so we got to bring
it up and address it. NBA, are you ready for that?
I thought maybe that. I thought Bogsy. Oh you know,
go to Boggsy. I mean, if you want, we want
it like a quick hit, because you could.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Get the NBA schedule after Poppy trip.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Oh yeah, yeah, because we got to get ready for
big Poppy Boggsy. Huh, this is so wild. We already
said or one out for photoshop. Right, it's done. No
one says, oh, that's got to be photoshop. You say
that's got to be AI. Yeah. It's like when people
you when we'd always say like, oh did you tape it?
No one's taping anything. You recorded it. I saw this yesterday.
I immediately put it on our group chat. I said,

(07:18):
if this is real, we got to talk about it.
Since then, I've seen it everywhere. My friends have been
sending it to me and either we're all dummies or
it's real. As a guy that can't stop talking about peptides,
Rich Davis, I'm nervous to do it, but I feel
like I want to get on a stack. I feel
like I want to get into the pep tide.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
This picture checked out, by the way, Chad gpt says,
it's very much real.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Rich Davis thinks he's Daddy Stacks. Wade Box himself posted this,
so that's why I was like, there's got to be
truth to this, and he says, just another great day
on the water. But he's doing what our producer spot does,
like he's using every opportunity to flex. Like no one's
noticing him fishing. He's clearly flexing on social media. Wade boggs. Look,

(08:00):
he's like a buddy, but you're like, what the hell
is this? By the way, I'm gonna what's your guests
on Wade Box age Wade bogs Right now, let's say
in the eighties he was riding a horse in ninety
six with the Yankees. Sixty ninety one years. I mean
he's got to be almost seventy. Wade Box sixty eight years,
nineteen fifty.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
He just recently beat prostate cancer.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yeah, I recall and Rich mentioned it before he got
He's infamous for that hair transplant, so you know he
cares about how he looks. He's trying to get back
on the health track. He has to be on something,
because if this picture's real, the dude is more shredded
than any youngster you know in your life. Right now,
this guy looks ripped and he's on something. And nowadays

(08:44):
you can't have a conversation without one of your buddy's
talking about peptides, whatever GLP he's on. And you got
to imagine Bogs is on something. And I said this
to Rich today. Okay, Rich keeps talking about all his
buddies that are on this and that and this stack
and Wolverine, this that and whatever. Right, I say, yeah,
that's great, and all what are they gonna do trade
their head out for another head because you still got

(09:04):
an old guy head. I'm sorry, and wait, you need
to be wed. And I said this before I even
saw the Wade Box thing. We still got an old
guy head, respectfully, so he needs a headship. But what
I'm saying is you don't need to be chiseled and
ripped like Wade Bogs. But I was saying, if you
are into that peptide nad plus world, now he's got

(09:26):
to be people. People. There's ways to be thin and
you know, ways to enhance your workout. Nothing's fda approved,
but everyone's doing it. Hey. By the way, I'm just
saying I don't want this to be misconstrued in anyway.
Congratulate dude looks good, right, Yeah. We want you to
know like this is coming from a place of love
because and shock, because he saw this and you're like,

(09:47):
what the hell is going on here? Weight Box is shredded?
Is that real? Because his head does a giant compared
to his ripped torso.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
He announced he was cancer free on Febbus l seven,
twenty five.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Yeah, that congratulations to him. There. Do you guys know
the best Wade Box story? Which one? There's a few.
Give me the one eighty three beers on that side
of you you were gonna go there again? And not
none of that. There's a better transplant. There's a better
Wade Bog story. Body by Bogs Baseball Hall of Famer
Wade Bogs. I bet you the Koran doesn't even know this.

(10:23):
I don't there. You know who one of his best
you know who one of his best friends used to
be mister perfect Christ Perfect. And there's an amazing story
where while deer hunting in Iowa, Oh, the one day
I was Sam's not here, I was Sam's trying, like
I got the location they were tried. There's a big
deer problem in Iowa. In Iowa, while deer hunting in Iowa,

(10:47):
Wade Bogs grabbed a rotted tree branch to cross a
barbed wire fence. The branch broke and it left Bogs
tangled and severely cut from his knee to his ankle
kurent headache. The late great mister Perfect, who was a

(11:08):
dear friend of Wade Boggs, carried him roughly three miles
dear friend three miles back to the truck to get
emergency medical treatment. And Boggs frequently refers to Kurt Henning
as his guardian angel up in heaven and that saved
his life once so old school wrestler who died. Mister

(11:29):
Perfect and Wade Bogs were best bros. They would haunt
and fish and outdoorsy men together. And uh, as you
speak about Wade Boggs story that I was barry mister
Perfect three miles Based on that fant, Wade Bogs goes
hunting out and carries all the deer on his shoulders
for real, Come on, guys, that's nuts. I got sixty

(11:50):
years old and in honor of mister perfect. Wade Bogs
now spits out his gum every time and slaps it
with his hands. Hold on, I got you know what.
That's probably why he didn't show up to Yankees Old
Timers Day this weekend, because he's like, Yo, I'm not
sh I look nothing like these old farts on the
field right now. Wait, he's ripped four hundred feet down
the line. He's like, yeah, I'm not hanging out with
these guys. Are an all fat and dump being those pinstripes.
I'm ripped.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Can I share a couple of the comments underneath this
photo that he posted.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
It's just nuts what today's older guy is capable of.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Jaw Adventure says. Dodgers just signed sixty eight year old
Wade Box to a four year, one hundred and eighty
million dollar deal after seeing this picture. Two million a
year now, the other one hundred and seventy two million
deferred until twenty forty seven. I'm a Dodgers fan.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
That's funny set again too, where he goes just another
great day on the water, like we're not going to
notice the physique. Yeah, yes, it's like a girl that
does a recipe. Danny on Instagram TikTok and her boobs
are out like old tube top and she's like, I'm
making muffins. Yeah, that's what everyone's looking at. Muff another.
We know what you're here. I'm here for the muffin recipe.

(12:55):
Box puts it, putting thirst traps out there. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
This this next x user said, Wade Bogs will drink
your beer, eat your chicken, land your fish, and kick
your ass all before dinner time.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Is Wade Bogs the new Yeah? Yeah, now now he
doesn't fall to Barbedire. Barbire falls into Wade Box. It's funny,
insane dude. So hey, if you don't know the picture,
if you don't see it, we've been showing it on
our YouTube live stream right now. Thank you Spotty. Our
producer Elijah's atually feeling it. Thank you Elijah, Thank you Elijah.

(13:27):
It almost doesn't look real, especially since the head doesn't
really match up.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
It's and rich FSR by the way, Coveno and rich
FSR on YouTube.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
It's really great man, Thanks for all the feedback. But
it's gone viral since I saw it early yesterday and
it's everywhere as of today. But you know what, I'm
saying steroids done again sometimes Yeah, you know, wasn't stallone
a big proponent of HGH to prevent cancers and things
like that body stops producing? On a serious tip, how

(13:59):
many people do you know? Maybe it's just my circle
of people, but do you guys not have friends, relatives,
people you deal with that are always talking about peptides
and NAD plus and supplements and oh they got an
NAD drip. They're feeling youthful. A couple of my buddies
I play softball with, or you know, friends are all
about like, yeah, man, you got to take whatever stack

(14:20):
and Retta is apparently some like appetitesup president. It's not
quite o zempic, but you get a little more ripped.
But these are not to be done alone. Could you
know they're to be done like in supplement with your workout.
They're not approved, but no one's saying they're not gonna
don't What are your thoughts on the box side? That's
good stuff. I just started taking it. I feel fantastic.

(14:41):
What do you yeah, what are you taking o epic?
I'm telling you People are saying, of course, as are
Oh this person has o zepic. Face of this but
they're saying there's a lot of there's studies that are
showing not all studies, that there's other great health benefits
from stuff like that. So life's risk. No, it's interesting.
I would love to fast forward twenty years and see

(15:02):
what the study show. Meaning. Are we're gonna all look
back and be like man, we should have all been
on this stuff? Or are we be like man? That's
why Ryan looks the way it does. Right, I would
be so cut. Wait, box cut, Wade box cut. Here's
me fishing with Wade, WBC champion, Wade box cut.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
The skin from your chin is also going to be
dragging on the floor though, right.

Speaker 1 (15:22):

getting in the ring right now? If Hennig was still around, dude,
my goodness, Yeah, he's looking great. Hopefully you're having a
weigh Boggs type of week. Let's see, it's inspiring. I
just hit a milestone birthday, right and I'm thinking to myself,
if Bogs could look like that sixty eight. Yeah, No,
his head looks out of proportion, even though he has

(19:04):
like a giant head with a ripped body. Now it
makes me, It gives hope.

Tie, you're you're better off leave in Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
Anyways, that's right, all right. If there's a tie, we
have a tiebreaker question. Your name is your buzzer, but
you gotta wait till all three possible answers are read.
If there's two wrong answers in a row, we move
on to the next question. Are you ready?

Speaker 1 (23:13):
Let's go play ball? Hey speak Poppy Baseball to the
round one. Let's go ikobee he Hey, Johnny, you played today,
you win today?

Speaker 5 (23:23):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Hey, you know Poppy was number thirty four. Who was
the first team to start permanently wearing numbers on the
back of jerseys. A the Orioles, B the Jihnkees, or
C the Giants. The Giants.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Johnny got a buzz in with your name, Oh, Johnny,
Johnny the Giants.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
No, you're wrong, Rich Rich food Steele who was the
Yankees and Indians at the same time. So Yankees Yankees? Yep, Hey,
the Yankees in nineteen twenty nine, they put that captain
thing on that Well, you know what, all the Yankees.
That's why the single digits are retired, because it was
their batting lineup, like third, Big Bridge.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
That was my little league team.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
I was waiting. I played for the Yankees.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
Rich. There was another team toying around with the sleeve patch,
but the Yankees did a permanently on the back.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
Hey, but the Yankee lows the yanker. Lord?

Speaker 2 (24:14):
All right, Rich is on the board. We go around two, okay.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
Big Poppy, Betty happy to be he Hey, what year
was the first baseball glovingtrudus? Was they eighteen ninety, B
eighteen eighty or C eighteen seventy. Rob Parker will get
that one for.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Sure, Johnny Johnny eighteen seventies. Yes, that's a good one.
Johnny on the board. Yeah, it was a catcher named
Doug Allison. He he had an injured hand, so he
wore this heavy leather glove on the injured hand.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
I'm telling you, if you're basically like Big Poppy, he
doesn't play like Big Poppy with his very hand. No,
let me tell you. There's a fascinating documentary. I'm gonna
I'm gonna look at up. I'll tell you by the
end of the segment about the invention. I think it
was like something. It's one of your History Channel things.
Cavino wherever Cavino is. Hey, you make me puppy, sleepy,
john tell you what don't story sucks? All right, you

(25:15):
put me to sleep.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Rich and Johnny on the board. By the way, a
fun fact, Rich is gonna love this. Gloves did not
become widely accepted or sold commercially until the late eighteen seventies.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
So there, Yeah, you know what. I have a fun
fact about it. But I don't want to bore Poppy.
I'll tell you a minute. No, it's okay, go ahead, no, no,
go go all right. Rich and Johnny both on the board.
We go to round three. Okay, baseball threvia. What was
I once quoted saying about my city? Eh? Boy, I
remember that I can't swear on TV. Okay, hey, this

(25:48):
jersey that we're wearing today doesn't say rest sucks. It
says Boston b when Pee Wee visited my city. I
love hearing the captain get boo so loudly boo pee
Wee boo. Asthetic Jeter Beewee or C Boston embrace three
right off the bat. I was surprised how fast they
felt like home. I say that again in English. Boston

(26:12):
embraced me right off the bat, and I was surprised
how fast they felt like home.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
Johnny jumped in there trying to get the w.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
What do you say, Johnny see no, he said, like
you see.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
Could be? He said, B about the captain getting boot
You're wrong.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
We want move on.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Yeah, we gotta move on to round four.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
Okay, Hey, I I could be here. I can hit
this guy who is the only player ever to score
a run on Madison Bumgardner in a World City game
was a Salvador Perez, b Miguel Cabrera or C. Mcarpenter.
Rich Rich for the win got Sally Press.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
Yeah, third win in this game in gay one twenty fourteen,
Little Cities and Rich Davis Ewien.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
I'm sorry, hey, sign baseball knowledge.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
They're Rich and Johnny play again. We're glad you listen
every day there in Saint Paul.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
Yeah, thanks Johnny, Hey, Johnny, to see you. Man. You guys, Hey, Johnny,
you go with me, man, You're go with me? Two
peal Hey, Hey, Rich tell me that burning as story
about the documentary, Well, Poppy, get this. We've all heard
of Rawling Spalding. These are all obviously names of men
that were behind the og baseball gloves. Spalding had such

(27:33):
a great reputation as an athlete and a good man.
He was the first person to wear a glove without shame.
Before that, if you wore a glove, you're considered like
some type of sissy or win you wearing a glove,
use your bare hands. And Spalding because he was so
respected when he wore a glove, people are like, wow,
I mean it's Spalding. He wore a glove and then

(27:53):
would go on to design bigger gloves and then Rawlings
was the first person to connect the fingers with webbing,
and you know again out of here. Hey, I'm gonna
buy this story. Hey, sorry, big puppy funny. I gotta
go home now.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
Okay, Hey you Poppy and you're gonna be on the
Dan Patrick Show with us next week.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
Hey, that's a big dying, big d we'll see Hey
go be knowing a big dying for deep beer with
Big Poppy.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
We'll see you on the DP show next week.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
Hey, sexy dying. Good to see you make Hey, big Poppy.
By the way, Isaac, thank you for showing interesting my
Spalding story. That's a good it's a legitimately good story.
The fact that Spalding, hey rich he was. He was
no whine because Spalding and he was a pimp, spoiled
a great story. He had a reputation. So it's like,
you know, in the cool kidding school, theres to be different.

(28:41):
He wears something a little different and no one's gonna
make fun. No one's gonna make fun of that guy.
No one made fun of spald him because he was
the g Yes, Spalding was like I'm gonna wear a glove?
What and everyone in the eighteen hundreds like, well, I
get well, see I guess if he was one I
could do one too right, and then that made it okay,
and then rawlings and did you know this other fun fact?
This is a great documentary. I still don't where it was.
You're not done yet. You're gonna love this. Why do

(29:03):
you think Big probably left? There was? You know that
all these different leagues use different size baseballs, different materials,
different weights and everything until one company. And it might
have been wrong. I gotta look up who exactly was
there was a uniform baseball. But for the early days
of baseball, whatever stadium or field you played at, whatever
field or league you played in, it was a different baseball.

(29:25):
Maybe you guys need to watch a little more history channel.
Let's go to Iowa for an update. I'm I'm gonna
look this up though you were You need to watch
Quarterback on that tell what up the Crown? Get it
up next?

Speaker 5 (29:35):
In Coveno at a Wretch, Rich breaks down the history
of the on deck circle donuts.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
Oh can I tell you this? I play? You know
if you ever play first base, If you ever play
first base, you do realize that you don't get the
throw around in the infield. You know why that is? Isaac,
Let's say there's an out. How did they toss it around?
Usually third base, second, short back to the pitcher, or
could be shortstop, second, third pitcher, depending on how you

(30:06):
Toon's runt. Why do they leave out the first basement?
Find out? Find find out? After Isaac's update, then coming
up to Borrow Renchell break down the eighteen ninety nine
Cleveland Spiders. What you got? I love? All right, I'll
tell you now. I just I was Lou Gary, Isaac

(30:29):
lou Gary. When lou was starting to get ill, when
Lou Garrick started to get ill. As a respect, the
Yankees were like, you don't need to throw to him
every time you're on the infield's and then.

Speaker 5 (30:39):
That's actually a legitimately cool story.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
And so they did that literally in Lou in Lou
and Lou of Lou and then other teams followed suit
in honor of Lou Garrick. So now you know, like
one hundred years later, when people are throwing the ball
around the infield, you wonder, what is the first baseman
not get the ball? Respect, but do you know why
they throw it to third first? Because eight sid so

(31:02):
you got it. He's the new one.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
He's the new Chuck Norris, Well done, Cobe, and while
Kyler Murray is the new starting quarterback in the Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
They made that announcement today.

Speaker 5 (31:12):
Jj McCarthy, their first round pick two years ago, will
serve as the backup. Chicago Bears head coach Ben Jonson
announced newly signed safety Kobe Bryant expected him as four
to six months after undergoing knee surgery. Remember, they signed
him to a three year, forty million dollar deal after
he won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks last season.
In Major League Baseball, the Los Angeles Angels today fired

(31:32):
pitching coach Mike Maddocks. NBA announced that the defending champion
New York Knicks will host Lebron James and the Sixers
on opening night October twentieth. Additionally, James and the Sixers
will visit his former team, the Lakers on Christmas Day. Finally, guys,
are you familiar with those annual NFL and college football
preview magazine Street and Smith's Athlon.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
My dad would like collect him every year and just
like analyze the you know these studies exactly.

Speaker 5 (31:59):
So one of those longtime preview magazines, Phil Steele's College
Football Preview magazine Phil Steele is an actual guy. He's
been putting out his magazine for over three decades, and
yesterday he was horrified to discover that scammers were selling
four different fake Phil Steel College Preview magazines on Amazon

(32:22):
dot com. Steele urgently tweeted, they are forty five, fifty eight,
seventy and ninety three pages. My magazine is three hundred
and seventy six pages with two full pages on one
hundred and thirty eight teams. Well, The Athletic just reported
that Amazon has removed Wow, you have magazines back to you.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
May great Stuf. They would always have those, you know,
in every local newspaper too, like the Daily we grew
up in New York, the Daily News news Day. They
would always have the little pullouts of like the previews
for you.

Speaker 5 (32:51):
Know, and they have those magazines at the supermarket and
we'd read them while our parents were like shopping, bro.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
The previews always gave you two. Like I said earlier
in the show, this is the time where every team
has hope. And by the way that documentary I found
it what the baseball on It's called the Whole New
Ball Game. It's part of the mega brands that built
America on the History Channel, The Channel, the Mega brands,
It Built America and Season one. It's on Season one
from twenty twenty three, the evolution of America's most beloved

(33:19):
sports of baseball, basketball, and football. Everything from how the
football got its shape to the first baseball gloves might
sound nerdy to you.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
No, if they have a film another season, We're going
to get you a job as a contributor on that show.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
It was that do you realize? You know what? I'll
let you watch how you why they made the football
the shape? It is pretty fascinating, and it made the
game go from a running game to a passing gave
a little more too when it became more of a
spiral pigskin. So interesting documentary coming up later, Cavino tells
the story of why Mordecai three Finger Brown got his nickname.

(33:55):

Speaker 1 (35:48):
So the NBA schedule came out, h and there's I
mean clearly a couple games of pop right out at you. Well,
the fun fact right off the bat history boy, Lakers
not part of Opening Night, first time in eight years.
They play the Warriors on that Wednesday night like the

(36:08):
following Wednesday. So the Lakers not part of Opening Night
for the first time long time. Now, what I thought
was interesting was that on paper, it's like, woh, the
Knicks first game defending champs is against the Philadelphia seventy

(36:28):
six ers.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
We saw that one, And is.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
There a party that's like sweet, what a great Opening
day matchup? Or do you feel like hijacking the Knicks
celebration is even too much? By the way, James are
they getting their rings lowered down from the ceiling. I
want to know, because that's why the Seahawks are sitting there.
You see this in an R Knocks. The rings come

(36:53):
from the ceiling and they dropped down in front of everybody.
So is that taking away? Is Lebron taking away? Well,
they are making history, right, it's the first ever father's
son combo for opening day Christmas Day. Well that's not
the same thing. Well, aren't they breaking history for that
on Christmas Day? On Christmas Day? Lakers sixers? I mean,

(37:17):
I'm sorry, Knicks Sixers Opening Day doesn't take away in
my opinion because to me, that's what Lebron wanted to
be a part of, for me, that second option for him.
Plus they're the winners. Do you think Lebron just takes
attention away from that? Well, I'm saying, I mean, what
do you mean do you think Lebron takes attentionally? I
understand he stuck his neck out there for that game,

(37:39):
wanted that game, sort of made that game happen. But
the Knicks are still getting their rings like they still
got what he wanted last year and he wanted to
be on the Knicks this year. How do you not
see that the Knicks defending champions have their moment and
it's like slightly overshadowed by Lebron's first game as a
seventy six. I mean it's part of the story. I
know that's part of the story. I don't know if

(37:59):
that takes a from the fact they won the championship
last year and they're getting their rings presented.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
It bothered Josh Hart, by the way, did not seem
to bother Brunson. Brunson was like, Hey, the Knicks fans
are going to be going nuts. Maybe not as nuts
as they were for Game four of the Finals, but.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
I'll be honest, it's gonna be of a hotter ticket then, right,
I mean, like talk about a Baja ticket to be at.
And the Brown's first game is a sixer and it's
the Knick ceremony stories that everything's away from the Knicks moment.
But I think it's like, imagine getting presented a championship
ring in front of like the goost that you like,
that's kind of cool. This is me. This is like
at a wedding when every so often you'll see like

(38:33):
a clip from a wedding where at the wedding, some
other woman stands up and she's like, I'm having a
baby or I'm also I'm engaged. It's like, it's not
your moment.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
Somebody else proposes.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
You don't. You don't propose at someone else's wedding. You
don't announce your baby the same day someone else announces
their engagement. The Knicks are having their moment that, you know,
one of the most magical teams the NBA was electric,
the most watched NBA Finals in decades since Michael and
and now Lebron is attaching himself to Game one of

(39:05):
their next season by wanting that game. I just think
it's I think the NBA is letting let Lebron hijack
that moment.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
Now.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
I do think, however, on Christmas Day, I think it's
going to be part of the story on Christmas. I
think Lebron James opening days and be part of the
story no matter what. You're right, But I mean, like,
but I do love Christmas Day Sixers Lakers. According to
your son.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
Yeah, first time on a Christmas game, And according to
Jeff Tigue, Lebron requested to be in LA on Christmas
and they made his dreams come true.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
Father and son Christmas Day like that. I'll tell you
what that's fun because it's very hard to beat the
NFL anytime in the winter. I was just gonna look
at what the NFL has got doing Christmas Week because
we always talk about how the NBA wants to call
it their time with go you know, Christmas Day NBA,

(40:08):
but the more basketball and football overlap.

Speaker 2 (40:12):
I have Christmas Day right here, Christmas.

Speaker 1 (40:14):
Day right here, Packers at Bears, Bills at Broncos, Rams, Seahawks.
That's Friday, December twenty fifth. And on Christmas Eve, Texans Eagle.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
So you also have Heat Celtics and let's see Thunder Timberwolves. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
I'm not I'm not being a prisoner, Danny, And I
think you have a new Hallmark Mario Lopez Hallmark.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
Yes, yeah, Nuggets, Warriors, Christmas.

Speaker 1 (40:40):
Haff Christmins and handcuffs with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
You got that.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
No, But I really do think that lebron versus his son,
who knows? Who knows that Bronne's even gonna be on
the squad. Maybe, like you said, Danny, like you know
how on Edwin Diaz Bobblehead Night, they made sure he
was available if lebron and Bronni. You're both on the court.
That is an amazing moment against each other, right, and
they'll be there'll be a cool moment, maybe that cool moment.
I'm not saying father son, but you remember when Kobe

(41:06):
took the charge from Michael Jordan. He was on the Wizards,
but it was still that cool generational moment where he
helped him up. Yes, I think we're going to see
a cool moment Lebron and Bronni are on the court
against You're going to definitely make that happen. But let
me ask you this father son match up on Christmas,
the active roster, if Lebroni's even on the if Bronni's

(41:26):
even on the roster. But Danny, let me ask you this.
You think they're not going to try to make that happen.

Speaker 2 (41:31):
They'll probably activate him just for that game.

Speaker 1 (41:33):
But answer this simple question. Other than the first quarter
where you're like, oh, you want to see that moment,
are you really going to watch a December basketball game
over Bill's Broncos, Rams, Seahawks and the Bears Packers.

Speaker 2 (41:44):
I will watch the NBA Finals rematch because the first
game of Christmas Day for any sport is the Spurs
and the Knicks. See that Spurs Nick.

Speaker 1 (41:54):
Oh yeah, that's cool, But that's that what time? Noon?
Noon Pacific needs? Yeah, but you know what that from? Yeah,
you know what that means. I mean you got to
decide between that and the Packers Bears. But the Packers
and Bears are all tightened and that that's a fun day.
Options options. But I think I think the coolest question
is do you think that Lebron being there takes away

(42:15):
from the Knicks getting their rings? Maybe we discussed a
little more tomorrow. Have a great Tuesday night.

Speaker 2 (42:20):
I now we have a minute.

Speaker 1 (42:25):
That's my mistake, Basketball, Ryan, did you really count us
down a minute early? Yes, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (42:37):
Lucky for you, Rich, do you have any more fun
facts about sports inventions?

Speaker 1 (42:41):
Lucky about the invention of the basketball? Lucky for you,
the basketball Spalding had a twenty year Now listen, I
do think that people are gonna have great options to
sum it up between NFL and NBA both on Christmas Day.
That's that's pretty sweet, and it's a Friday not to

(43:02):
look forward to. All right, Now, have a great Tuesday night.
We'll see you guys tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (43:07):
Please watch the NFL shows tonight.

Speaker 1 (43:09):
Please know what I'm going to tonight tonight Danny ar
rivea there you baby, See you in the Promised Land
for this time. Later, guys,
