All right, get in line. That's what they did last
night at Dodger Stadium. And it was a long, long
line for a Thursday. That means today is Friday, Friday, Friday.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
There we go.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
There is no Covino on Rich because they were doing
the Dan Patrick Patrick. So you've got Manzi Belanios and
myself Dan Byer, and you've got the big a Alex steishert.
You've got Jason Stewart and Chris Burfett, who you hear
at the news desk rolling along as we head into

Speaker 4 (00:47):
Yeah, and Ourgentina and uh is that what we're saying?
Speaker 5 (00:51):
I say, cape verdi, cape verde, no go.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
I love it when people are interactive, and they're always
interactive with Cavino and Rich we aren't live streaming today,
but it does give me an opportunity to read a
tweet that Nate sent into us, saying, in regard to
the Rory McElroy conversation Jason Stewart, Nate said, I really
thought they were going to compare Phelps wearing his Olympic
speedo only to Wimbledon. And I think that is that,
(01:38):
you know, would be maybe a little bit more apropos
in this case. Where do you really want to do that,
Michael Phelps instead of just the the gold medals speedo.
Speaker 7 (01:48):
I'm guessing there isn't such thing as an Olympic speedo,
right or the one that he actually wore.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Yeah, I guess maybe you're right. That's a weird one.
That's a stretch.
Speaker 6 (01:56):
That's a stretch because he wasn't given.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
The speedo for winning. That's true, it's a little different.
I just like the sweet no it's great.
Speaker 6 (02:05):
It's great, and maybe Michael Phelps is wearing the speed
out under his clothes.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
He's got so many medals, right though. I've seen guys medal.
Justin Rose when he won the Olympic gold. As a
joke would use that as his ballmarker on a putt.
Love or to bring that out and say like, this
is where I mark my ball. Manzi now has missed golf.
She knows what marking the ball is. By the way,
I want to put this out there. I've done some
(02:30):
work behind the scenes, and we're gonna get to what
happened to you yesterday. Monzi's never played a hole of
golf in your life. In fact, the first time you're
at a golf course was with me last month at
the US Women's Open at Riviera. You've played top golf before,
sure have. We're gonna get Manzy on the course to
play a hole of golf, and I've started to do
(02:51):
some of the work. I think it can be done.
So at some point after one of these days, one
of these shows. It can't be next week, unfortuate, but
we will get out there and we will record you
playing a hole of golf and see what your actual
score would be on one hole for the first time.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Can't wait to show you how good I am. I
am an athlete.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
The question then remains, will you buy a new outfit
for this? Because you bought a new golf outfit for
the US Opens gives you a reason to do so.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
You have no idea?
Speaker 6 (03:23):
Absolutely, do I get a dressed? Do I get a
skirt with a top? What am I gonna do?
Speaker 5 (03:28):
I'm so excited with so many different options.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Do I have to get shoes?
Speaker 5 (03:32):
Do you have to get special shoes?
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Do I have to get Jordan's with spikes in them?
Speaker 3 (03:35):
You can? You can. I don't know if it will
will really help the cause, but Jason Stewart, you're welcome
to attend when this goes down. I think we can
make this work.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
Am I gonna slip if I'm not wearing spiky shit?
Speaker 3 (03:46):
It would help if you had traction, But then again,
I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Okay, okay, all right, But if you.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Want to look into a pair, go right ahead.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
I might, I might.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Maybe what you could do is you could take one
of those Dodger cards that they gave away last night.
If you have one, sell it, and then you can
buy new golf shoes and new golf outfit and maybe
put a down payment on a house if you'd like I.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
Was gonna say, I could buy several golf shoes, several
outfits with the one piece card that I got yesterday
for working at the Dodgers, because I was not here
with I wasn't here hanging out with you guys because
it was a mad house Dan like I didn't.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
I've been at the Dodgers for so many years. I've
seen it all.
Speaker 6 (04:29):
I've seen it all year one with Otani in his
first bobblehead. That first day with Otannie's bobblehead was absolutely
nuts because at that moment it wasn't every person gets one.
It was capped at forty thousand. Yes, it's still a
lot now with Otani bobbleheads. Everyone gets one. They just
don't want to deal with it.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
You get one.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
You just have to get there, I believe before the fourth.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
Or fifth inning, if in case anyone's listening, they do
just take the boxes away after. I think believe it's
the fourth inning. So make sure you get there. But
as long as you get there when game time starts.
If it's an Otani bobblehead, you're gonna get it. I
was there for Yoshi Yoshi's babblehead for a Yamamoto.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
That was a nutty day as well.
Speaker 6 (05:05):
But yesterday when I got into work, I was driving
in around one o'clock and I've seen a line before
outside of Dodger Stadium built up for these events.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
But this line was different.
Speaker 6 (05:14):
This line was like people have been camping out for
I don't know how long. I mean lawn chairs, I
mean umbrellas, I mean you're watching soccer on a TV
type of situation. They were there for hours waiting to
get a card where they upped the giveaway to fifty
two thousand. I don't know if any anyone went to
(05:38):
the game and didn't get one. If you arrived by
the first inning because it was fifty two thousand, you
got a one piece card and a one.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
Piece hat that looks almost like a gardener hat.
Speaker 6 (05:49):
Sure it's a wicker like a yeah, small brim around
Prior to this still I still don't know what one
piece is.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
I'm sure Alex Tischer can a little bit more about
one piece.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
But the attention, the amount of.
Speaker 6 (06:06):
People that really wanted to get their hands on. This
was quite impressive and I don't know if there's anything
I would want that badly to sit outside for for
At this point, there were a rumor. I don't know
if it's true, but I heard that people were lined
up at three in the morning.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
It's confirmed that they were lined up at eight am,
because that's when some of the tour guides arrived.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
This it feels like it has a Black Friday aspect.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Yes, that's a perfect description for it.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Just instead of saving money, you're hoping to sell and
make a lot of money. Alex, can you give us
a description? And then Chris Purfett after But what exactly
is the one Piece? Because Manty explained that tried to
explain it to me when she told me about this,
and I was very unfamiliar with it as well.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
The one Piece is real. It's literally anime's god like
we were talking about the goal of goals for FIFA.
This is literally the reason why anime is what it
is in our States is because of One Piece. It
is the biggest falled show, the longest running show still going.
It is one of the biggest fandoms I've ever seen.
When it comes to a show in general, like this
is more massive than Game of Thrones. This is more
massive than anything you can think of globally. One Piece
(07:15):
is that thing, Like they've literally greenlit the guy who's
still running it right now to write as long as
he wants until he's finally completing it. Because it is
so massive and bringing in so much money. It's almost
like the god of anime. It's insane. When I was
making anime content, if you would say anything related to
One Piece, your video got traction. If you never had followers,
never had a video with anything you talked one Piece,
(07:36):
people would follow it. And it's insane to know, like
it's that big. So to collide with Dodgers, I don't
know what they were expecting in all honesty, Like I
was hearing about reports like people were waiting with one
hundred dollars bills buying it from people. I was hearing
people got thrown out and their halls were confiscated, Like
what did the Dodgers think We're gonna happen?
Speaker 4 (07:53):
Okay, I don't, I literally why I told the guys this.
Speaker 6 (07:56):
I was walking by center Field gates opened early for
the public right because it was so they didn't. They
didn't have space to keep the lines growing in the
parking lot, so they had opened the.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Gates early for everybody.
Speaker 6 (08:08):
I walked near center field, whereas the majority of the
people are coming in, and there was a dude standing
with three one hundred dollar bills flashing them three.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Hundred dollars for your card. Three hundred dollars for your card, right.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
And then I walk a little further down and there's
a dude holding two fifty dollars bills and I said
to the dude, you gotta step your game up, bab
there's a.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
Guy over here with three hundred dollars. What are you doing?
Speaker 6 (08:26):
And then a guy heard me say that with a
couple and the guy was like, yo, the guy with
three hundred dollars. I jokingly said to him, give me four,
and the guy pulled out another hundred and.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
He had to call the bluff.
Speaker 6 (08:36):
He said, I'm kidding, you can't have this upjec I'll
give it to you for a thousand, And the guy's like, no,
I'm not gonna pay a thousand, because that's kind of
what you can sell it for without.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
Even being graded.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Isn't that crazy?
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Yeah? But like, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
I did see that there was like security that got
involved with some people.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
I don't know what the drama went.
Speaker 6 (08:49):
Because when I saw the guy with the three flashing
dollar bills, nobody was bothering him.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
He wasn't.
Speaker 6 (08:53):
He also was he was just standing there, you know
what I mean, And he wasn't getting kicked out or anything.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
Something more must have developed. There are people to have
been pulled away like it was.
Speaker 6 (09:02):
I'm telling you people were doing it, but it was
just like how far did you push it?
Speaker 4 (09:05):
You know what I mean? Nuts.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
I think it's sad though, because like the whole concept
of anime and even Pokemon cards right, like this trading
card phenomenon is kind of disgusting in my opinion, Like
kids can't even go to targets by cards anymore, right,
and it's heartbreaking.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Yeah, I completely agree, Chris Prevett. I know you want
it in, But there's something else I want to say
about the sale of it.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Chris, go ahead, No, I was going to say, like
I was actually going to change. I think you covered
basically one piece is basically this generation like it was
dragonball Z for me growing up.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
But this is bigger. But like, yeah, no, I know.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
I talked with Bo Benson, one of our producers on
the weekend, and it's you're watching guys online ripping like
ten thousand dollars worth of pack worth of Pokemon card packs.
It's the collectible industry is just kind of out of
control at this point, as far as just guys who
are just sharks, sharks in the water, just going hard
for this stuff, and it kills any enjoyment kids can
(09:53):
get from getting any of this.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
I will say this, I think Monty said that you guys,
you ordered something off of Fanatics. That's the only way
that I would. I would not buy anything in a
store anymore because I just assumed every single pack was
weighed and the special cards and the inserts have already
been sorted out, So the likelihood of you actually pulling
a special insert from a pack which would have a
(10:16):
different weight. And I know companies have tried to like
combat that in the Sports collectible game that tried to
make the weights even, but that's how people would Oh,
this one is six tens of a you know gram higher,
so it must have a uniform card or jersey card.
And yeah, it's it's crazy to me to think like
of the craze of it. But when I just go
(10:37):
to eBay right now and Manci's not lying when she
says it's one thousand dollars, there's an auction going on
that ends in two days that right now is at
nine hundred and sixty dollars. So this is it's not
just somebody posting it up and saying like, I want
twelve hundred dollars for it. It seems like twelve hundred dollars
maybe a sweet spot.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
It seems like it, Yeah, you need to get more.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Yeah, But now this one here is at about nine
six and it's gotten up that high with thirty five
bids since being posted last.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
You should look at the last ones they did. Dan
PSA ten's were selling for thousands of dollars. So imagine
going to a game and how much your tickets, Manzi, Well.
Speaker 6 (11:11):
Yesterday Foot in the Door was pushing four hundred, five
hundred bucks.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
Okay, here's what I Alex.
Speaker 6 (11:19):
Last year they announced the one piece giveaway with the
promotional calendar a start at the start of the season,
so people could it's with all the stuff, right, but
they never said a card was happening. That card was
done that day and nobody knew. So the hat everybody knew, Oh,
we're going to get a hat, and then you got
the card. This promotion was added three four weeks ago,
(11:40):
and I think they did it on purpose. So the
promotional CALEIDNDAR came out and there was nothing for one Piece,
and then like a month ago, they were like, hey,
guess well, we're gonna have a one piece promotion and
I was like, ohh and they're like, so you need
to be working that day and I was like, what's
on one piece?
Speaker 4 (11:53):
Is this a band?
Speaker 6 (11:54):
Like? I truly was like, I don't know what this is.
And so last year that's how it went down. People
didn't know. This year, they did say it was happening
with another card, but they just announced it like a
month ago.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
I would have thought one love one piece eeacee. If
I would have heard it like that to your point
of not understanding what it was, I would have fifty
year Bob Marley tribute. What were we doing one piece?
Speaker 4 (12:19):
I literally thought it was a banned or like a song.
I was like, I don't know what this is.
Speaker 7 (12:23):
I just know that I've never felt more out of
the note because I'm I'm a Dodger fan, so my
timeline is filled with Dodger stuff. And all it was
was was this the lines and the news about this thing.
And I tried to read like a paragraph recap of
what it was, and I was still confused. I will
say this, I can rewaate. I once pitched an anime
(12:44):
series in a in a room with a bunch of
directors and they caught it.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
One piece of crap. One piece of crap.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
You're so stupid, But that was good.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
I think the ramifications of buying a take it out
of the secondary market is a big deal. Hhmm, Like
that's crazy. Honestly, if you had fifty two thousand cards
given out, that's what it was. Yeah, if you bought
a pack of cards and got a one of fifty
two thousand, I'd be like, oh great, there's fifty two thousand, correct.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
It seems crazy. That's that's that much of a demand.
Speaker 6 (13:16):
Because like we rip cards at home, you know what
I'm saying, Like they're base we rip them, we rip
them and it's like, oh, I got a card that's
numbered seven out of twenty five, and you're like, damn,
that's a good one. But this is one of fifty
two thousand, and it's still this crazy.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
What I also find interesting, and I'm seeing this on
a lot of the bids, are the fans who took
the picture at the game last night to show the
authenticity of yes, this is the card. So this is
one like the one that I'm looking at right now
is behind home plate, so it's like, oh, they did
get this at Dodger Stadium instead of just seeing it
(13:54):
on a kitchen counter. Sure, help there somewhere.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
And it also increases your aunts of it being a
good card degrade because less hands touching it, the better
the corners, the ridges, the surface, all that, And that's
what these investors want. Are like a ten card.
Speaker 6 (14:06):
It came in a little in a sealed package pre plastic, yes,
so like in order free you would have to rip
it open to touch it, you know, like it's still
in a sealed package.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
And another thing about this that I forgot until.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
Right now is when we have giveaways, Like there's times
where it's been a while, but early on when I
was at the Dodgers, if they were like short handed
at a gate.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
I would go help with handing the giveaways.
Speaker 6 (14:27):
The cards were being handed by by the highest of
high security at Dodger Stadium. They were the ones, and
I think they were all packing type of thing, you
know what I'm saying, Like those were the ones handing you.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
The card the hat.
Speaker 6 (14:40):
The hats are given by everyone else, but like that's
the level it went to. I literally was like, why
are all these security guards that you normally see protecting
the players around the field, They're the ones that were
at the gates with their box handing the cards.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
Here's a question that I have. How many of those
cards is it evenly distributed at all the different entry points?
Speaker 4 (15:01):
So they are distributed. There's a lot of entry points.
Speaker 6 (15:04):
The place that typically has the most giveaways would be
center field, but it's the most crowded, so you don't
necessarily have the best luck there. You actually should go
to another gate, like that's that is the location that gets.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
The most, but the most people go there.
Speaker 6 (15:18):
So sometimes I'll tell, like I'll text a friend like, no,
don't go to center field, go over here.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Like dude, nobody was in line over here.
Speaker 6 (15:24):
Obviously this was a different type of giveaway, but they
are spread out based on how many people are technically
in each location because there's different levels. The reserve level
at Dodger Stadium holds about twenty thousand people the reserve
level alone and then the rest are divided, so it
depends on which entrance you go through. Reserve will also
have a lot, but the most is center field because
(15:45):
that's most people walk through in through that location, because.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
There are some ballparks that don't have fifty two thousand
seats right, No, for sure, fifty yeah is quite a bit.
I had no idea about it, and I thought it
was crazy, and then I saw the craze. I saw
it on the news last night. I saw the lines.
It just it did remind me of Black Friday, and
quite honestly, like I think like the Black Friday people,
(16:09):
you know where you had to be of a certain
fabric to be able to do that.
Speaker 6 (16:14):
I didn't want like once or twice camped out why.
I didn't want anything, but I just wanted to be
a part of it.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
I just want to have fun. You want to campound
friends or it's play Monopoly on all night.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
My sister and our relatives getting around looking at like
what we would call like the shoppers, to see like
what was going to be on sale the next day,
you know, on Thanksgiving and doing that. But if this
is selling for one thousand dollars to sit there for
how long? Ten hours?
Speaker 4 (16:38):
I say, I think average, let's say five hours? Like
if you I think five hours.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Two hundred bucks an hour?
Speaker 4 (16:45):
Yeah, that's you're fine, You're right, it's worth it.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
It's pretty good, pretty makes it worth it. I wouldn't
even go to the game.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
A lot of people didn't, and that's what we were saying.
Look at the seats. It wasn't even full. Yeah, because
people just got the card and left.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
I would they probably would have had an exit lane.
Speaker 5 (17:01):
Right, oh, we did have one, right, like an.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
Extra like just because of people showing up to leave.
Speaker 6 (17:05):
People purchased tour tickets to get in early and then
just left or early entry, which is so it's like
you you paid how much? And the thing was because
they didn't announce this game until like a month ago.
It was against the Padres, so it was not already
like the cheapest ticket. It wasn't like they were playing
the Rockies and you can get in for you know,
twenty bucks. It was already a higher ticket, but once
that was announced, it went even more. So Like if
(17:27):
you if you bought a ticket last minute and then
you paid to like get in early. I don't know
how much money you saved, you know what I mean
by then selling it, or how much money you made
excuse me by then selling it.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Well, I commend the people who turned down three hundred
dollars of a spot.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
Just slashing it. Yeah, you want three hundred bucks right now.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
As it turns out, that was a really crappy offer.
It's just not as crappy as the guy who was
offering one hundred hocking.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
I don't think anyone took his offer.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
She's wants to Belanio. So I'm Dan Byer, trained to
push past the pain. Not athletes, just people trafficked every
day right here in the United's, sometimes by someone they trusted.
During the World Cup, help us break the silence. Vis
at Blue campaign dot gov slash World Cup to learn more.
Right now, Argentina and Cape Verde scoreless in the nineteenth
minute of their round of thirty two match being played.
I believe in South Florida, Is that correct, Chris Profett?
Speaker 2 (18:16):
They're being playing in Yes, they're playing in Miami. So
we're keeping messy in the confines of inter Miami forever.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
The entire stadium is wearing white and light blue. Yeah,
so then that works out for them.
Speaker 8 (18:28):
Fox Sports Radio had the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Fox sports

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Have you know what rich here on Fox Sports Radio.
She's Monty Belano. So I'm Dan Byer wrapping up the
week for C and R, who were doing the Dan
Patrick hat trick earlier today.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
That's right.
Speaker 6 (18:48):
In fact, I'm wrapping the CNR shirt, you know, because
we're here for the guys.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Good job, good work, great job, good job, great job.
Speaker 6 (18:57):
Argentina and Cave In their twenty seventh minute they are scoreless,

Speaker 6 (19:11):
Download Fox one and experience the FIFA World Cup alive.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
We have a game that we've been playing here at
Fox Sports Radio and I am zering to I'm winless.
I have lost both times to Isaac Longcron and I
don't love my chances today as I'm up against mister masters.
Chris Purfett at the news desk. All right, Dan, let's
do it. I'll say this and before we get to
the game for the story that Cape Verde has been,
(19:36):
what's gonna be great is this is likely the end
of their run, but it will be up against Messi.
This would have been like if they would have faced
the US or Belgium or East Spain for that matter, Yeah,
even like one of those, it wouldn't have been the
same as facing Messi and Argentina. And so it's like,
(19:56):
what a perfect way if you're gonna lose, that's the
wait to.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Imagine that our first run and we lost to Messi.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
Right, everyone's gonna be like, oh, you got to go
up against Messi?
Speaker 3 (20:06):
What a what a great like exclamation point to put
what I'm already predicting their demise in this match? Sure,
how dare you?
Speaker 5 (20:13):
How dare you?
Speaker 6 (20:13):
But there was clearly no off sides in that, because Alex,
would you say, you have to give.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
Them the tinkle, the twinkle.
Speaker 6 (20:20):
A little spark, the spark in the ice across I
saw the spark in the eye.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
Isn't that crazy?
Speaker 1 (20:24):
And then he went and what's funny is if you
look at it too, the other player was but it
doesn't matter. He's not involved. It's all where Messy is
and he waits, pops leans then So.
Speaker 6 (20:33):
Then is that is that a tactic where I would
be like, Dan, go be off side, You're not going
to get the ball for sure?
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Like that was it? That was indible? That right there
was really you could.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
See it perfectly.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
That's why the ranked number one. What's not been incredible
is my uh performance in these last two games. I
handed over to the host of Americanopolis two fifty, Jason Stewart.
Speaker 7 (20:55):
That's right, Dan, thank you very much. I do you know,
because because my man, we get news all the time.
I want to tell everybody that we've been playing this
game called Americanapolis two fifty. And you see the wording
there Americanapolis two fifty like it's a race. But we're
turning two hundred and fifty years old tomorrow, and I
thought I wanted to give attention to that because I
(21:16):
don't think a lot of people are talking about this,
and you should see the comments on Twitter, and even
when people walk up to me on the streets, they're like,
you know what that game that you're bringing attention to
the two fiftieth birthday. It's taught me a lot about
our American heroes and I appreciate you doing that at
the expense of Dan Byer. I think our listeners have
had an educational experience in this. The first two stages
(21:40):
were both won by Isaac Lomankron. The first one was
kind of a boat race, but the next day Isaac
Gormcrown got down to nothing and he scored four straight
answers to beat Dan Byer. Isaac has gone off into
the sunset with his yellow T shirt, has his yellow shirt.
We brought in a new opponent for Dan Byer today
(22:00):
and unfortunately for Dan, it's the most educated person on
the staff. And do you know why I know that?
Just ask him. Chris Purfet has the most degrees. He's
got at least one masters from Wake Forest and USA
and from the USC.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
I dropped out of Wake Forest. Okay, but he's kind
of a history buff. Not only is he the biggest
soccer snob on the staff, but he's he's also very
smart and he claims to be a history buff. So anyways, Dan,
you your opponent is very qualified and I think he's
anxious to beat you. Here's the game. Okay, you're gonna
(22:37):
get six American names. But here's the important part, and
it's important to think about as you listen as you play.
This is the game where American culture and sports collide.
All right, I'm gonna do it one more time for
Alex says he's new heroes. So it's where American sports
(23:00):
and culture.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
Kid.
Speaker 7 (23:03):
So what that means is, as Monsi delivers these questions
these clues, you're not going to know if they're athletes
or coaches or just great Americans. That's the very genius
of the game, and that's what the listeners like the most,
at least they've told me on Twitter that. So without
further ado, I'm going to bring in our host for
today's game. Again, it's a who am I style trivia
(23:24):
game between damirissses right, yes, and Chris Profet. As many
guesses as you want. Chris, you can guess as many
as you want until you get the right answer. Take
it away, Manzi Bolanos for the Americanapolis two point fifty
on a Friday.
Speaker 6 (23:40):
Jason, I'll take it from here. All right, everybody, let's
get going. First up, I am an American. I was
born in.
Speaker 5 (23:50):
The Midwest, abe Lincoln.
Speaker 6 (23:55):
I suffered significant hearing loss beginning in my youth. My
life's passion was coming up with new ways for people
to do things.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
George Washington Carver Edison.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Name Thomas Edison. All Right, damn, look at you.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
The one of the one advantages I've I have to
pay attention to the wording now, and that Chris hasn't
been experienced, sure.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Right, right, right, right, all right, Well here's.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Here's here's the here's the balancing act too. Is like,
you can call me smart as you want, but I'm
also incredibly slow. I am slow on the uptake all
the time. So this is this I might just be
a jobber here. I do.
Speaker 7 (24:38):
I have to give Dan credit though after four four
clues he got it right. There were some really good
ones in here. That it's a waste of my work
because I put a lot of hard work into this.
Did you know that the conflict with his rival was
known as the War of Currents? And you know that Chris,
that would have been Nicola Tesla nice I would not
(24:59):
have gone in that.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
That was impressive. That was good.
Speaker 5 (25:03):
I wish I had watched the prestige that I wish I.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
Could give you a point for that, but I can't.
Dan up one milm.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
All right, and I hate Tesla's I can't behind them
in here.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
You are the worst drivers, Okay. I am an American.
I was born in southern California.
Speaker 6 (25:24):
I received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, one of the
highest civilian honors the United States.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
I am a known Dodgers fan. I was the subject
of an Elton.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
John song, Marilyn Monroe.
Speaker 6 (25:45):
My contest against someone of the opposite sex became a
medium Da Yang, well done.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
Dad jumped all over me on that one. Sorry, that
was what what was the what was the song?
Speaker 9 (26:02):
The Elton Johnson Phildelphi freeo.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
Yeah, okay, do you know what?
Speaker 7 (26:10):
Right now the listeners are thinking, wait a minute, Dan
Buyer's up two to nothing.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
This is gonna be a skunk.
Speaker 7 (26:15):
This is really easy, But they don't know that twenty
four hours ago he was up to nothing on a
glowing crown.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Here we go.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
That's right, all right, moving on here you can Belgium.
Chris Purfett, all right ready.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
I am an American. I was born in Hawaii. My
father was from Kenya, and my mother was from We're
gonna have to go to video reap are VR.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
Do we have the audio? Jason?
Speaker 7 (26:48):
Do you have I'll get the audio. But I kind
of like the fact that there is a half point each.
That means that we can't tie, right, that would be
half point each, so two and a half to one
half until we can get to the vaar.
Speaker 9 (27:02):
What do you mean we can't tie If we both
have a half point then we're both on. No, you
can't tie all together because there's got to be a winner.
So I think we live with this.
Speaker 5 (27:13):
Let's go, got it?
Speaker 4 (27:14):
So we're giving a halfy halfs.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
Yeah, it was a nice time, all right, it was.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
It was.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
It was very very on the money. Okay.
Speaker 7 (27:20):
Oh by the way, by the way, the one that
I was most proud of because I put a lot
of work into this and I'd hate to wait waste work.
My left handed shoe, I'm a left handed shooter in
basketball like that would have totally thrown you in the
listener's way off.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
It would have it changes direction a little.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Bit too bad. Oh well, oh, we do have the audio.
While Shakira is at the world coming, what do we have?
Speaker 4 (27:43):
My father was from Kenya, and my mother was.
Speaker 5 (27:46):
From I think to Dan, Yeah, Dan, get out of
heead and.
Speaker 4 (27:54):
My mother was from It's funny because you say Obama
at the same.
Speaker 10 (27:59):
Time, but it was like you said, like he's started
with Baraki, correct, like he could have been meaning Michelle,
you know, so like so mine is more right, That's
what ken Jenians would have been like to be more specific,
you get.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
Three quarters of the point, you get a fourth one, okay,
all right, next one. I am an American.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
I grew up in Detroit, eminem.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
I love that answer.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
No.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
During World War Two.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
I enlisted in the Lewis Yes, good job.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
Yes, very well done.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
Christ That was a good one.
Speaker 10 (28:36):
That was.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
The one.
Speaker 7 (28:39):
The one that I was most proud of in this
one is that uh you know he he was in
the best of his class for twelve years, became the
first black athlete that was nationally embraced on both sides
of the racial lines.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
You know.
Speaker 7 (28:51):
He fought Rocky Marciano in the final fight of his
career and loss. Joe Lewis on it. All right, good job, Chris.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
You know which way the they got the big fists
at you in Detroit, the blackfist, you know, which way
that's pointed?
Speaker 3 (29:03):
Germany? Oh?
Speaker 4 (29:05):
Okay, all right?
Speaker 3 (29:07):
Also Canada, right, yes too, just to keep the I'm
under the casino right on the other side.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Hey, I've made plenty of trips over to Windsor for
beer that I shouldn't have had at my age.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
Moving on, I don't even know the score because of
what happened with the Barackoball.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Going to one and a fourth.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
All right, ready, here we go. I am an American.
Speaker 6 (29:32):
I was born in Maryland. I escaped my unfortunate life
circumstance in eighteen forty nine during the American Civil Yes,
indeed I was impressive too.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Right, thank you?
Speaker 4 (29:50):
Wow, impressive too.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
See this is where you were here yesterday. I nailed
Davy Crockett, you know, eighteen hundred, nineteen hundreds early. It's
not my wheelhouse, guys, there's plans to feature her on
the twenty dollars bill. Did that ever come to be?
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Or?
Speaker 3 (30:07):
Yeah? Great guest, Dan byre three to one and a quarter.
Speaker 7 (30:10):
Let's just play the final question out just three quarter
stars star search, all right, last one.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
Here, fellas, let's get it all right. I am an American.
I was born in California.
Speaker 6 (30:23):
I was identified as an elite talent at a young age.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
Tiger Woods, Richard Nixon.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
My friend.
Speaker 6 (30:33):
Job was overseas before returning to California for the rest
of my professional career.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Kobe Brock, No, it's not Kobe Leannon Donovan. Yeah, well done.
So that was a good match.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
That was sounds good, That was exciting.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Do you feel redeemed Dan the Redemption Tour? Well, I
do feel like I had a bit of an advantage
over because Chris.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
Hasn't done it.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Yeah, I hadn't done it before, so in a way,
it's just good not to lose. I'll just I'll just
say that it's win where you can get it. Yes,
I'll take them. They they they don't come often in
these trivia games, so let's unless it's last one standing,
which I've been fortunate enough to win a bunch.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
But okay, on that you really are.
Speaker 7 (31:22):
By the way, Alex Tyshert, he deserves credit. That was
the tightest run version of the American Apples two fifty.
That was tight, Thank you very much. I'm not saying
anything about previous board ops. I'm just saying that that
was a tight American Apples two fifty right there, Sam
was even here, No, he was not. For over forty years,
(31:44):

The way tire buying should be all right. Still one
nil Argentina and Cape Verdey at the World Cup as
the Round of thirty two reps up tonight.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
Then it's on to the Round of sixteen.
Speaker 8 (32:05):

the nation. Catch all of our shows at Fox Sports

Speaker 3 (32:14):
Cavino and rich One love one piece here on Fox
Sports Radio. She's wonti blagyo. So I'm Dan Byer. Chris
Purfetts here, Jason Stewart. Great job, Jason with the Americanapolis
two fifty. Thank you. I know I was upset with
myself and my performance, but I thought it was a
(32:36):
great way for us to celebrate America's birthday tomorrow thanks
to Alex Tischert and Isaac lorn Crown. Who's the winner
of that game? I lost eight to four on aggregate
oh do you want to go soccer terms, but I
expect I didn't expect to win.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
You know you can't win them all.
Speaker 6 (32:52):
Dan, you are the leader in Cavino and Ridge for
last man standing to the point where I've only won
I think two or three times, and I had to
say because that my first one. Though the first time
I won, they gave it to you and I was like, no, no, no,
no no, I want to be separate from Dan Byer.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
I don't care if it's two time champion Mansi.
Speaker 6 (33:10):
Instead of saying twenty seven time champion, you are ahead
by four in that one.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
It will be it will be four time champion and
then eight time. As he continued to build up, oh
thank you.
Speaker 4 (33:22):

Speaker 3 (33:37):
Argentina is up on Cape Verde. This does feel like
Duke against you know, NC Central in the first round
of the NCAA tournament. Where what a great story it
would be if Cape Verde pulled off the upset, but
let's be real, we want to see Argentina move on.
So you're kind of come to grips with all right,
(33:59):
this is the end of their run and then let's
get the real bracket underway. But it has those sort
of vibes to me.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
Totally agree. But you know, if you're cavedbe you're probably like,
it's only one nil.
Speaker 6 (34:09):
We're as long as we're donn walk out of here
getting our butt spanked, Like that's pretty good you're playing Argentina.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
Do you think that's what they're saying? Alex teisshert as
the soccer Officionado don.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
One two thousand percent. Belgium scored two goals in five
minutes and that was at the last five minutes of
the game. That's right, Kate Verda is like one only
by MESSI we got We're good, We're in a good spot.
Speaker 5 (34:30):
We got this.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
And I mentioned earlier and I was it Cape Verde
who tied Spain in the group stage. So when we
were talking about like perfect endings and how this all goes,
I mentioned like, it's it's best that it's Argentina because
there really isn't another club in all of this, but
I will I will say this, this is this is
one other observation that I've taken from the World Cup.
(34:52):
And for as great as the Americans have been, when
you watch what like Spain did to Austria, yes, and
just boom boom boom, you're talking about the mess you go,
boom boom boom. It's at that point that I think
we all can understand, as crazy as it is of
when people say, you know what, Americans can't win the
(35:14):
World Cup because they're just not there yet, Like there
still has to be stages and for as exciting and
I don't mean to end this on a downter, it's
just more of an appreciation of what France, what Argentina,
what Spain can accomplish. And that is also what makes
it so intriguing to me to see Mexico in England
(35:34):
because of how much momentum Mexico seems to have. But
I think England is on that level of those other
clubs as well. What should be a great round of sixteen.
Speaker 6 (35:42):
Yeah, very exciting and even though like as to what
you're saying, I feel like appreciate what the US is
doing too, even though they may not be at the
level of those teams you just mentioned. I think what
we're seeing in real time is a good and fun
team to cheer for.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
Do you view the US from like at any point
as an underdog?
Speaker 4 (36:05):
Yeah? I have, but I've been I've been a little and.
Speaker 6 (36:09):
They're not and they're not and I've been because I've
I've been a little bit pessimistic, because again, history tells
us one thing.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
Even though they passed the eye test.
Speaker 6 (36:20):
They have passed the eye test, especially after this last game,
so they are they are a different team.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
They are much better team.
Speaker 6 (36:26):
But I would still look at them as the underdog.
And I don't know if that's just me keeping my
level headed moving forward.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
You love this Dan, even without Belligan, we're still a
two percent higher than Belgium for this upcoming game.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
Yeah I don't. I don't still the favorite. I feel
like that they've been expected to succeed in these matches,
and even the one against Turkey A when they really
had nothing to play for. As I said, when they
scored the first three minutes, that's all right, Well, the
World Cups hours like, if our backups are even doing this,
look out world, How I don't feel that they're the
(37:01):
underdog against Belgium. Alex just had the numbers. Vegas Is
said as much as well, So I really I Another
reason why I want them to win is because I
want to see what it would be like against Spain. Sure,
of course, like in that sort of level of like
all right, what do we got here? And then if
they don't make it, so be it. But I kind
(37:23):
of want them to be an underdog to see really
how good they are if.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
They win this game against Belgium.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
I don't, I don't.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
I'm gonna jump full in like all just that's it.
Us is winning the whole big baby.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
The great thing is we could come back on Monday
and get ready for that round of sixteen match against Belgium.
She's Monty, I'm Dan, It's Gavino and Rich. Happy fourth
Bye
