We're gonna talk multi sport athletes because I'm gonna predict
a new trend in the world of sports because of
all the money floating around, I guarantee something is gonna
happen and we're gonna start seeing it real soon. Plus,
(01:37):
World Baseball Classic is poppin' Otani Juan Soto. We'll get
to all that, and we're gonna be joined by my
dude and yours, mister lights Out Sean Merriman, because who
better to break down whether or not Logan Paul could
whoop the ass of NFL players.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
This is the perfect athlete to have on about this topic.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
I thought the same.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
I'm like, who know football and fighting more than a
guy that's one of the best defenders of our lifetime
and a guy that runs a fight league. So LightsOut
shown Merriman will be here, but you know, before we
get into all this, can we close the chapter on something,
Can we you know, figure out something that we've been
seeing all week on social media?
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Have you seen the.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
CEO of McDonald's take a little little baby bite of
the new Archburger.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Guy looks like he's never eaten McDonald's in his life.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if he's like, just
the CEO and he's like, do you think I eat
that trash? No way, I wouldn't shock me. And then
Burger King came out. Ceo is taking a big bite
of a whopper. Wendy's gets involved, but Danny g was
kind enough on his way in to stop and get
the new big arch. This is no commercial. If it
(02:53):
tastes like ass, i'll tell you. If it's good, i'll
tell you. But I figure, why not give it a shot?
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Together?
Speaker 1 (02:59):
I was saying, you got your burger? Yeah, you got
you got your burger.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah. They're in front of all of us, right, Well,
I think it's I think we should all take a uh.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Except Dan Byer. He only eats chicken nuggies.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
We should have got him, We should got him. Move
the six piece.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
They have those little uh you know what they have
now in the kids meal because once a week, I uh,
you know, you don't want eat McDonald's too much and
you'll feel like ass. I let my kids go once
after baseball practice, and they have what we had as kids,
remember the like the little things that turn into animals,
like like a burger will turn into a creature, or
a fry box of fries turns into something like little
(03:37):
Transformer McDonald's toys.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
We'll get them one of those.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Well, I'll tell you what I have this in common
with buyer. I like what I like. And if somebody says, oh,
there's this new burger, I'm not the first to go
taste tested.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
All right, Well, I think we all like a tasty burger.
This is a tasty burger. Thank you.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
I'm gonna say, if you ask me my personal opinion,
I'm more of a smash burger type of guy. I'm
down with a little Freddy's. I'm down with a little uh.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Shake shack usually in and out. I get down with
if within and out. McDonald's not usually. So let's do this.
Let's cross this off our list of things Danny.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
All week we've we've been trying to figure out and
if you don't know what we're talking about. The CEO
of McDonald's, I think he you know, no offense to
this guy. I'm sure he's trying his best, but you
don't debut k newburger. Put a video out and take
a little baby, honestly, a little baby be bite.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Just listen to a little recap of what this dude did.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Donald's ceo probably doesn't actually eat McDonald's after a recent
promotional clip. That rumor is louder than ever. In the video,
Chris Kemshinsky appears on camera to introduce the new big Archburger.
He holds it up confidently, gives a quick introduction, and
sets up what he calls the moment of truth. Expect
a big, satisfying bite. Instead, he takes one of the
(05:03):
smallest bites imaginable. That is so good, it's careful, it's controlled.
It almost looks like he doesn't want to fully commit
to it.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Oh, it looks like he doesn't know how to eat
a burger. We're gonna take a bite right now. We'll
give you the scoop and we can move on with
our life.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
It looks like he doesn't eat burgers. You know, my rule.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
If I go out with a bunch of grown ups,
bunch of grown men and women, I think it's embarrassing
if you don't finish the burger on your plate.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
I really do. I think it's like a weird thing.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
You ever go out with You ever go out with
a group of people and you see someone left like
a quarter of their burger. I could see leaving some
fries or salad or something on the side. If you
leave a part of your burger, like, what do we do?
I would say them, Have you ever left a part
of your burger?
Speaker 5 (05:43):
No?
Speaker 6 (05:43):
If I have like an entree and there's a meat,
is that one of the main courses? I usually finish
the steak, finish the burger.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
I mean you have to. It's like part of the rules.
What's up, Dan Bayer? Some fellows? How are you?
Speaker 7 (05:55):
You're a nuggy guy. I heard you're not in huh No, Well, yeah,
here's the deal. I am a plain hamburger. That's bunning
the meat only so the lettuce, the cheese. I saw
the video and he was as as the CEO was
describing the burger, it just had everything that I don't like.
I you have to say, bun and meat. That's it.
My diet's like a ten year old and so I
am not in with the big arch unless it's arch manning,
(06:16):
Like that's the only thing that we are going with.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Yeah, it's like every night with my wife's like, what
do you want for dinner? And I yeah, whatever you want.
She's like, no, no for the kids because my kids
are like you. She's like, their menu is limited. Yes, chicken, chicken,
dino nuggets, mac and cheese, maybe a plane burger. Gotta
you gotta trick them. All right, let's take a bite
of this and we'll move on with our lives. Danny
(06:39):
g I was sam all at the same time. This
is the arch burger, Babe.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
It's it. You know, it's a good looking burger. It's
a good looking burger. Man.
Speaker 7 (06:47):
I didn't even bring my water in. Oh, I know
you guys got napkins. Are you allowed to do that
with the equipment?
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Yeah? Yeah, Well on is you guys chew You.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Know what, pretty tasty burger, but it really tastes no
different than if you were to get another McDonald's burger.
It tastes like that, you know that McDonald's meat. We
all sauce and cheese.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
No Donald's meat that comes out in the plastic tray.
I mean, but that's a that's a man bite. What
are we doing?
Speaker 7 (07:16):
Did you guys eat? Danny ate it like the Burger
King ceo? Remember how he like was really trying to
hot dog it. No pun intended, but he really took
the big bite, like look at this is why he
come to Burger King for the big bike.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
For the big one. Yes, but I will say dB.
If I go to In and Out with my wife,
she makes fun of that first bite. She's like, geez,
you were hundred and then I slowed down. I'm like,
go take a cab.
Speaker 7 (07:38):
And his first bike looks like the Cincinnati Reds logo.
It's just it's.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Just a wishbone of meat at the end. Right, My good,
that's funny. All right?
Speaker 3 (07:49):
So hey, pretty good? Not bad when you give it
one out of ten burger listen.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
So I would still prefer like a shakeshacker in and
Out or something like that, but.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
This is seven with two pickles. I give it a.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
I'll give it six point seven. I'll be like an
annoying teenager six seven. It's it's average, it's adequate. But
if you think you're getting a different taste. It tastes
like a McDonald's burger, just with a little souce on it.
It tastes like a Big Mac. It has more crunch
with like crispy onions. I took like a full semi
circle by it out there, and.
Speaker 6 (08:16):
It's pretty good good. Yeah, I mean it tastes like
McDonald's though definitely. Yeah, there's no all their signature flavors
that they have in there.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
If you ordered like a cheeseburger for McDonald's versus this,
it's like tastes the same, So don't waste My thought is,
don't waste your time and money. Danny G said it's
almost ten bucks for one of these.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Yeah, after tax it's ten dollars. How different is it
from a Big Mac? Not much. I can't tell you
the last I had a Big Mac, but it has
that except for the Big Mac sauce.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Yeah, a little bit of the Yeah, it's it's same. So, hey,
you know what we did the work for you. Don't
waste your time, do you? Well, that's the that's the question. Like,
is the promotion from all of this just to at
least get you there once? Like you're saying like, Okay,
it was fine, it was good, but like I.
Speaker 7 (08:57):
Like, I for a second there, I'm like, oh man,
I feel bad for mc donald's that, you know, Rich
didn't like it. But then I'm like, maybe that's just
their point is to get people into the walls, into
the you know, into the restaurant or drive through for
the one time to try it.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
That that sign they have with billions served outside there
for a reason.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
But yeah, maybe right.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
If if millions of people like I'll try it, Yes,
I guess uh point made so Rich.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Uh. Here's what is supposed to be on it.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
Two quarter pound beef patties, Three slices of white cheddar
cheese which I couldn't tell the difference crispy and.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Sliver it all.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Whit cheese looks the same to me. Crispy and slivered onions,
which I could tell.
Speaker 6 (09:33):
There was more of a crunch to it, which is nice,
like with the lettuce pickles, lettuce and a new tangy
big big arch sauce, big arch sauce, which tastes like
the same sauce it's on a big Mac.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Yeah, it's like that. It's like that that's on every
like smash which is or anything. It's like basically Thousand
Island dressing on. So hey, you know what, DB's right.
I don't think this has the rage at all. Remember
a couple of years ago when it was the Popeye'
chicken sandwich. Now that was something else.
Speaker 7 (09:58):
Huh, yes, truly as people standing outside and here's the
deal with Popeyes. So Popeyes will give you if you
were to order tenders. If you guys don't mind.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
I don't know. If there's another topic, please do. I
love food radio.
Speaker 7 (10:10):
The great thing about Popeyes is that the spiciness doesn't
come in the sauce when you're ordering the tenders or
if you're ordering the chicken. The spiciness is within the
chicken itself. There's a spicy it's not just an adding
of a sauce. The sandwich was different. The filet that
they gave you was just a normal filet, but they
(10:30):
give you a spicy sauce. So I'm not a big
sauce guy, but I would have loved like Wendy's, the
Wendy Spicy Chick Sandwich. The reason why it's so good
is because the actual chicken is spicy. You can see
the you know, the flex of pepper on there, like,
that's what makes it so good. And it's why I'm
not a huge Raising Canes fan, because it's all about
their sauce. Otherwise it's just to me plain tenders and fries.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Dampyre likes his chicken sandwich is like a Latina woman.
The spice within, Yeah, a little bit old spice. That's
what I'm getting out of this Latin Armenian women. That's
you know, you know I have to bring my wife
into this. Yeah, but you want that in absolutely, But
that's the that's the difference of it. So when you're
just putting like the sauce that is spicy, I think
in a way it's a cop out for some of
these places.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
You don't mean that will extra sauce. I hear you, dB, Yeah,
good sauce. That's a good sauce. Thank you, Bennler, Thank
you d b. Thank you guys. So we could we
could close the book.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Danny g on the on the Burger Wars of twenty
twenty six, Who do I owe ten bucks for for lunch?
Speaker 5 (11:26):
No?
Speaker 6 (11:27):
It's it is it going in to see on our budget?
It's yeah, it's thank you. We're taking out to see
in our budget.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Thank you very much. Thank you, Scott Shapiro, Thanks Scott
or whoever, don't thank you.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
I'm being fore to see in our budget. But you
know what, I always love when the companies like, oh yeah,
petty cash.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
I'm like, where where does petty cash come from? What
do you mean? Know what that means?
Speaker 1 (11:43):
All right, listen a lot coming up on the show.
Thank you for indulging our indulgence of one. Actually I
took two bites. I'll be honest, I'm gonna end up
finishing crush this thing.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
I said, Danny.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
I said to you, it's one bite and everyone knows
the rules, and we end up eating the whole thing.
I'll uh Dave, I said to Danny, Jay go, why
did I just buy a couple? Well, well, we'll split them.
I'm going to the Dominican Republican a week and I
need uh, I need.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
My beach bod.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
And he's like, you, you don't think that'll look weak
as hell if you if we split a burger.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
I'm like, you're right, let's get our own burgers.
Speaker 6 (12:12):
I remember as a kid, I would order a cheeseburger
and my dad would like cut it in half for
me and then like later in life, he's like, yeah,
you really.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Don't cut a burger in half, not eat it? Hole.
We were just being cheap. Yeah, that was for your sister.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
My parents would never get drinks at a restaurant, like
the idea of a fountains. So I was like, no, no,
we got stuff at home. And I'm like, yeah, what
we're eating here? Get a water cup?
Speaker 2 (12:34):
All right.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
I want to start today's show besides burgers. I want
to talk about something Danny sent me. It made me
confirm my thoughts on where the sports world is going.
And this one had to do with Anthony Edwards. Anthony
Edwards throwing some vibes out there in the form of
his plans for the future.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Listen to this.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Anthony Edwards has expressed interest in playing in the NFL,
specifically stating he would try to become a wide receiver
or a backup quarterback if he wins an NBA title
before the age of thirty. And you know, with the
money floating floating around sports now, And we talked about
(13:18):
Kyler Murray the other day. In fact, yesterday, we were saying,
Kyler Murray, here's a guy that made a couple hundred
million dollars in the NFL. He could now say chapter closed,
let me go give my shot at baseball.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
The A's who said, hey, invite still there.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Do you think we were would see a day where
player said I made so much money quick that I
could try another sport.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
I don't think so. Do you think people are just
gonna stick with Brandon? I think that.
Speaker 7 (13:48):
You know, remember Brandon Wheden, he played minor league baseball.
I end that and then ended up being drafted. I
think Brandon was twenty eight when he was drafted by.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
The Brown Round. Yeah he was. I remember being like, wow,
this a rookie. He's almost thirty.
Speaker 7 (14:00):
Yes, yes, Like I think you have to you have
to burn out that way.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
I think it would be.
Speaker 7 (14:07):
I don't know how Anthony Edwards could find a spot
for him, considering every position in the NFL is let's
get younger, except if you're playing quarterback. But that would
be the I just I don't see it, especially with
how good these athletes are.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Not Ben Jerry Jones always put out that permanent invite
to Lebron James if he if he wanted to give
his shot a tight end in the NFL. Yeah, because
a lot of these guys are just pure athletes and
Anthony Edwards is a guy that the guy's a specimen.
So could Anthony Edwards play in the NFL? Again, we
don't know. We've never seen him catch footballs. We've never
(14:44):
seen him, you know, drop back in the pocket. And
you know he said he wants to be a backup quarterback.
There's a little bit more to it than Anthony Edwards
saying he wants to do it.
Speaker 7 (14:52):
It's percent correct. They're like Matt, I remember Matt Barnes.
You know Matt everybody knows from all the smoke.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Now.
Speaker 7 (14:58):
Yeah, but he was great heighth school football player, Allen
Iverson's history of how great of a football player that
he was. But I think that goes away once you
in very rare instances, can you do it and then
also play at that high level? That's the part, like
there's just there's only so many Bo Jackson's and Dion
(15:20):
Sande guy.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
I wrote down, I'm like god of the days of
bow and Dion where you're trying to do it at
the same time. Maybe maybe we're entering a world where
a guy's like, yeah, I'm not even thirty and I've
made one hundred plus million dollars.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
My passion is to play a different sport.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
And listen, I know those guys that are just great
athletes that we've heard could do anything, like like a
Mookie Bets. And I'm not saying Bowling's the money winner,
but like Mookie Bets. Have you seen this guy do
everything everything Mookie Bets does athletically, You're like, oh, wow,
he's just he's an athlete. He's the kid that played
every season, every sport when he was a little boy.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
But you know now he's a grownup.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Would he step away from baseball to give it a
shot at something else? Would Anthony Edwards say, yeah, I'm
an elead NBA player, but you know what, I've made
my big money.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
Let me go try to play football. You have to
love football. That's that's a conversation in itself.
Speaker 7 (16:11):
I mean, if you've played, if you love football, if
you play football, because it is not the easiest sport
to love. So for Anthony Edwards to say that that
he would really really love football, I mean, the guy
is ripped. He's a freak specimen. But I don't know
why you'd want to play football when you can make
so much more money.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
That's what I would think, save your body.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
That's the Kyler Murray argument because money in the NFL,
even if he ends up with the Vikings or someone,
he'd still make more significantly more there, in my opinion,
than if he did anything with the A's or in baseball,
because he'd.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Sort of have to start over here.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
He's not going to get some Wan Soto you know,
Otani contract, Aaron Judge money just because he's Kyler Murray
going to baseball. So he's still going to make tens
of millions dollars as a quarterback somewhere? Likely is he
is he willing to say, you know what, my health
into fresh, fresh start, I'm gonna do baseball.
Speaker 7 (17:04):
It's also different because in Dan's not the greatest example,
but because DM did play at a couple of teams.
But like, if you're Kyler Murray, are you are you
really rushing the play for the A's right now? It
would be different. I mean, you know, I give Bo
Jackson credit for doing it with the Royals. I don't
know if that was the day and age that we
(17:25):
live in, but being a Yankee and doing it is
brings a lot more cachet than it would be to
be a Sacramento A.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
I mean, listen, I know it is because there was
sort of a an ending that they didn't really want.
But Tim Tebow when football is over, remember he gave
a shot at baseball and he played minor league ball
of the Mets and tried to he tried to think
the team breaking spring training, and it was just like, yeah, sorry, dude.
As much as the story would have been cool, like
you're good, you're not You're not a professional.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Yeah, you're not that you're good.
Speaker 7 (17:57):
You can mix it up with the guys here and there,
but don't have any falls on that.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Like I very much like the goat Michael Jordan. I mean,
the greatest of all time in basketball. You know, could
swing a bat better than all of us in the bigs.
But he's not going to make a big league team
just because he's Michael Jordan.
Speaker 7 (18:12):
There's also a bit of arrogance that goes along with it,
where you really have to be that unique of an
athlete's and relate to the other players for them to
welcome you, to think that you could just walk into
their world and end up taking over. Now like Bo
Jackson's talent was undeniable. He was an All Star in baseball,
and we saw what he did on the football field
(18:33):
before getting injured. But so there wasn't like a question
of that. But I'm sure that there were players if
they weren't in all of Michael Jordan wondered like, all right,
what's going on here? And I would assume that for
as great as a guy that Tim Tebow is, it
is a bit of an arrogant thinking to like think like, hey,
I can just come in here and play this sort
of Yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Always felt bad for the guys that were fighting for
spots and it's like, yeah, man, Tim Tebow or Michael
Jordan or someone took my spot at like their attempt
like a hobby of muster.
Speaker 7 (19:01):
Yes, And then if you were to say something about it,
you would look at a hundred times worse. Yeah, even
though you're probably valid in all of your feelings with
how it played out.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
No doubt.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Well, you know what a guy that knows about multiple sports,
a guy that knows about the fight game and football,
and this ties him perfectly. Because we're coming off of
days of Logan Paul talking a lot of smack about
NFL players and Tom Brady calling him a bitch, So
we got lights out Sean Merriman joining us. Next, we'll
talk a little bit about whether or not NFL players
(19:32):
could get in the ring with Logan Paul and whoop
his ass or would we be shocked of what Logan
Paul could do. Plus we'll talk some NFL free agency.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Let's go to a.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Guy that knows all these things, fights, NFL everything. One
of my pals lights out. Let's give it up for
Sean Merriman. What's up, Sean?
Speaker 8 (19:52):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (19:53):
One good man?
Speaker 1 (19:55):
You know I'm bumming you're not here, and I'm bummed
Cavino's not here because I know you guys always he
always gets the yips when he tries.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
To give you bro hugging a handshake.
Speaker 8 (20:02):
We we finally got it, right man, after all these years,
we finally connected.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
On something nice.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Well at Sean Merriman can always catch up with all
the cool things he's doing. But I got to ask
right out the gate, your guy lights out, you know flights,
you know NFL.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
What's your initial take on this? Tom Brady, Logan Paul beef.
Speaker 8 (20:19):
Look, I just think it's great promotion for them, right
with the flag football team that got going. People are
talking about it. I mean, when you're trying to promote something,
it doesn't matter what you think or if you think
it's filly or not. If people talking about it, then
that's good promotion. And people are now I think it.
In my opinion, it crossed the line a little bit
when they started to talking about fighting, which Logan now
(20:41):
is talking about all NFL players. Look, if you want to,
if you want to challenge a top Brady and and
tell him you'll knock his hit off, no problem. Right,
great promotion, but now you're getting it to an area
where there's real danger, right, And I want to take
I don't want to take anything away from Logan because
I think he's done a hell of a job in WW.
(21:02):
He is much more of an athlete that people give
him credit for. But you're talking about like professional athletes
who do things to other people for a living.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
Yeah, So you know my first thought is when when
I think of a Miles Garrett or a Bosup brother
or you know, some big dude like like a Crosby,
could Logan Paul Like I can't imagine, no matter how
skilledy is boxing, I feel like all those guys would
whoop his ass.
Speaker 8 (21:27):
Am.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
I wrong.
Speaker 8 (21:28):
Look, I'm not going to say this because I've been
I've been around this sport, and I've been around some
of the best and train and sparred some of the
best fighters in the world. You don't just walk off
the build to just become a big, a good boxer
because you're stronger. Those muscles and things do not translate
into into boxing or fighting in general. It don't. But
(21:48):
that being said, Logan didn't knock out Floyd Mayweather, who's
one hundred and sixty pounds, right, And so if you
can knock out Floyd Mayweather, you're probably not going to
knock out a guy that's two hundred and fifty pounds
all muscle. I just don't see it. And I and
that don't get me wrong, Floyd's is the greatest of
all time, of one of But again, you didn't knock
him out, and so I think that's that's where that's
(22:09):
where you kind of got to draw the line. If
you can't knock him out, how're gonna knock out a
guy like Miles Garrett.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Sean Merriman here on Conveno, on rich At, Sean Merriman
Lights out. You know, every time I see you and
I go in to give you a little handshake of
a hug. You're built like a rock and I know
you're you spar your fight.
Speaker 9 (22:24):
Guy.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
What's your thoughts? Can you do you think you could
take out Logan Paul?
Speaker 8 (22:28):
First of all, I don't. I don't hit children. That's
one you should know. I would. I think I'm taking
myself out of the mix because, for one, I'm forty
one and I and I actually have years of experience
in training and being in there. Not saying that I'm
a fighter at all, but I've been in there with
like some real real dogs, So I want to take
(22:49):
myself off. Plus, I don't think that Logan would even
think about going down that path. I think that better.
I think the better fight would be Le'Veon. I think
that's been training. He is a he is a notable
NFL player, He has a good background. He has a
big fan based, big follow on social media. It makes sense,
it makes sense for Lazon to do the deal. But
(23:09):
I don't. I just I see the roadblocks that Logan
is putting up now right practice million dollars in the scrow,
and it got to be this way and no judgment.
I might just say you don't want to do it, right,
I say, you don't want to do it.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
So that's what I see now when you take out
tackling and you know, all the toughness that goes into
playing NFL football, and you make it flag football, which
is more maybe skill based, when you take out, like
I said, a lot of layers of the game. Could
Logan Paul compete in flag football from what you've seen?
You think, is it going to be a different game?
Are we going to be shocked at who's good at it?
Speaker 2 (23:40):
No?
Speaker 8 (23:41):
I think that. I think that Logan is a great athlete.
I think he's going to look good on the football field,
but so well a lot of people when you don't
get hit right. That's why I don't pay attention too much.
Like you know, when the OTA is starting football and
minie camp and then run around and hell mess and jerseys.
Everybody look good. You got your your sleeves rolled up
and all you on your biceps. You guys are running
around the fast and then you put the pads on
(24:02):
and then then those strong guys go away. Now, so
you know, and and and that's what I think Logan's
gonna do. He's gonna look great. I'm sure he is
an athlete. He's gonna have some fun out there, but
he would never dare step on a football field, not
if he value his life.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Yoh, let me ask you, Sean Merriman here on cn
R NFL off season. I know you're going to keep
your ear to the fight game and the NFL. You're
involved in everything. Any intriguing stories?
Speaker 9 (24:27):
What what? What? Uh?
Speaker 2 (24:28):
What gets you interested? What what happens with fernandoman those?
Are you curious? What happens with Stefan Diggs or Kyler Murray?
Speaker 5 (24:34):
Like?
Speaker 2 (24:34):
What are you thinking?
Speaker 8 (24:36):
Yeah? I mean, you know, for one, Stephan, I think
it was time right and I think I think he
did himself justice because you know, obviously Stephan's a former
formaturt like myself. I think Steph did himself a justice
this year by stepping up as a leader, more mature,
answering the media. I think he did himself a huge
favor and he's going to have another opportunity somewhere else.
(25:00):
Kyler Murray, Man, I wasn't I wasn't shocked at all.
In fact, I thought it was they took too long
to move on from him. To be honest, I thought
that was going to happen at least a year ago,
maybe maybe too, you know, when when all the news
came out about him, you know, not really being locked
into playing football. I thought that when that happened. Typically,
you guys know, when you start hearing rumblings, it's coming
(25:21):
from somewhere in the organization, somewhere in the front office
that's there. That's their message to tell you that you're
on the way out the door. So they started playing
these little things that you know, you don't care much
about football and you're not a great leader. Those things
happen when a guy is on the way out the door.
So I thought it was gonna happen two years ago.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
Sean, would you be shocked if Kyler Murray out of
nowhere was like, I'm going to go try baseball, because
if you remember, he had that option.
Speaker 8 (25:45):
I think more shocked because he's making so much money
in football and I don't think he's gonna I don't
think he can make that same amount of money in baseball.
Do I think he can play it still? Absolutely, he
can make a team, but the money is not going
to be there, so it'd be hard to take a
pay cut where you know another big paint a is
coming right in the corner.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Sean I know again, fight game football, This guy you
know with Kevino and Rich, big fans of Sewan Maryman,
he knows it all. And some of these gimmicky fights
that are coming up. What do you think about Tyson
sparring Floyd Mayweather Junior?
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Is as? Is that go?
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Are we gonna see anything or is that just gonna
be too you know, legends playing patty Cake.
Speaker 8 (26:21):
I said ten years ago, I will watch Tyson's fight
until he's sixty. I would I watched I'm so intriguing
to me, right, And I said, and he guess what,
He's approached his sixty so this will be his last
fight that I'm gonna watch Mike Tyson ever. Period. But
but but I'll say I'll say this, I think people
need to separate entertainment and fighting, right, And if it's
(26:45):
something on Netflix and we all have subscribers to anyway,
if it's something is accessible and it's not it's not
a big pay per view model. People are gonna watch,
you know, every every fight. People say, I'm not I'm
not gonna watch Jake Paul, and it's it's it takes
is this is not good and then what happens over
fifty million people wants to fight. Yeah, And so with
that being said, man is people just need to separate
(27:06):
entertainment and fighting. And most people will pay for entertainment.
That's just what it is.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
One last question. We'll let you get on with your weekend.
Hopefully you have a good weekend. Plan Sean. If Logan
Paul did say yo, Sean Merriman, you're a bee and
he calls you out or something like that, would you
would you accept?
Speaker 8 (27:24):
I would have laughed because I know it's a joke.
I mean mean, I honestly would. I wouldn't take it
seriously and I'll just take that he's you know, maybe
once more subscribes on a podcast or you know. I
wouldn't take it serious because that's not what he wants.
But I definitely think that. I think to le'veyon, he
should take that fight with Le'Veon. I think that would
be a great fight. Nice.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Well, listen, man, have a good weekend. Thanks for the time.
Sean Merriman on Cavino and Rich and coming.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Up, we're gonna play Brainwaves, give you us some prizes
here on Fox Sports Radio and talk a little World
Baseball Classic.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
Hey, it's Rob Parker and Calvin Washington from The Odd
Couple on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 9 (28:02):
And in addition to hearing us live weeknights from seven
to ten pm Eastern on Fox Sports Radio, we are
excited to announce brand new YouTube channel for the show.
Speaker 7 (28:11):
That's right, you can now watch The Odd Couple live
on YouTube every day.
Speaker 9 (28:17):
All you gotta do search Odd Couple FSR on YouTube.
Again YouTube, Just search Odd Couple FSR. Check us out
on YouTube and subscribe.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
Live from the Fox Sports Radio studio. And it's time
for our tire Raq Play of the Day. And Yo,
if this isn't bringing the excitement, I don't know what is.
Oh Tani lighting up the WBC with a grand salami
that you want now?
Speaker 2 (28:48):
Oh Tony like it up? It is Old Tony O.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Man, what a great call Japan beating Taiwan thirteen zippy
thirteen zero. That's courtesy of FS one TV. Steven Nelson
on the call. That was a damn good call. And
between that Otani grand slam and Juan Soto playing like
the Mets are hoping he plays in a month from now,
the World Baseball Classic is just showing you how fun
(29:27):
baseball baseball could be. And it makes me wonder we
like lame fans.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Here in the US.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
I know it's the World Baseball Classic, but when you
watch again, the fans in the U, is that the tokyodum? Yes, sir,
fans in the Dominican Republic, I mean we need to
bring it a little more Team USA USA, when we're
the Dodgers game, in Mets game, any game Yankees game,
can we bring it?
Speaker 8 (29:51):
D B.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
I know's I know, it's like a casual winsday. You
might be at the at the stadium, but it makes
me think.
Speaker 7 (29:56):
That maybe the finals should be played in Japan, right
because they're the three time winners, right, they've they've won
the event more than anybody. But it's never going to happen.
Major League Baseball would never allow that to happen. But
to see that scene, at least to have the sounds
of it, was pretty amazing.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
Well, Aaron Judge has to deliver the same way Juan
Soto's delivering and the same way that Otani delivering her
Grand Slam. And I'll be honest, like Otani, other than
that little misstep with his interpreter. Some say take him
the fall, no other than his misstep, other than the
little misstep of the interpreter and the gambling, Like has
(30:33):
Odani done anything wrong? The guy's winning MVPs, he's winning
back to back World series. Now show Tani has just been.
Speaker 7 (30:43):
Great for baseball, the show of respect with always the
tip of the cap. I love the nod or to
the opposing skipper. I think it was I think it
was Stephen vote of the Guardians who like wasn't paying
attention at one time and yep, forgot.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
He's great. He's just so good for baseball.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
But if you're not watching the Baseball Classic World Baseball
Classic tonight, I don't know what else is on, Danny
g I know we're gonna go over weekend, hobnobin what
to watch? But what what would you rather have on?
In the background? Eight pm Eastern Team USA, So right
after we get out of here, go home throwing the
WBC of United States versus Brazil.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
It's all about Team USA tonight.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
TM USA's roster is fantastic and school ball schemes McClain
and who's pitch like an All Star game? Was pitching
tonight again, who's on the hill? I think you said
it before or logan web logan web logan web so
he'll he'll get the nod tonight. But WBC gets me
pumped up. And I just wonder if I made the
(31:46):
analogy the other day that it's sort of like a
little appetizer to the regular baseball season. I hope this
isn't when you get a good appetizer and then the
entree stinks because baseball starts in a month. And if
you could carry over this excitement, I think baseball baseball's
hot right now, and we know what's going to happen
after the season, players, union, owners, everything, you might have
a little hiccup a baseball So baseball baseball is one
(32:11):
year now to really bring it to and hope that
nothing stops it.
Speaker 7 (32:15):
There's I think there's recently been a trend and I
think people have realized it that not everything is for them.
That okay, I understand that this is being brought to
a different audience. Maybe it's not for me. Maybe most
recently the Bad Bunny halftime Show. Yeah, now, the World
Baseball Classic is another situation where it's not that it's
not for them. I think it's in another category where
(32:38):
you know, it doesn't have to be the greatest thing ever,
but if it's entertaining, what's the harm in it? If
it gets you interested in baseball, if it gets you
to sit on the couch to watch a game and
to see all of your favorite players happen to be
maybe on one team or at least a bunch of them,
Like there's good and like not everything has to be
the best of the best to be able to tune
in for something. And I think that this is a
(32:59):
good good You know, it's a really good event that
gets you excited. There is excitement with it, and it's
not a foregone conclusion that the United States is gonna win,
So that even adds it, kind of like we saw
with the men's hockey team, It even adds more excitement
to it.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
I'm glad you brought that up.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
Kevin and I often talk about when we were growing
up in the eighties or nineties, there was something called monoculture.
We've mentioned this before, the monoculture meaning we all know
the same things the same reason. We all know the
same episodes of different strokes or growing pains or oh,
every Saturday morning you know, you watch Saved by the
Bell and then wrestling and then American Gladiators, and you know,
(33:37):
mom made pancakes Sunday morning and you went to Little
league practice. We were all doing relatively the same thing.
Now with social media and a million things streaming and
every network's got a streamer, we're all sort of watching
different things. So when something breaks through and it is monoculture,
like a Game of Thrones finale, where you know most
people are watching, sure, we got to lean into these things.
(33:59):
And I'm not a hockey, but you damn well know
that Sunday morning, I turned on USA Versus Canada because
it's a moment and I feel like we, uh, we're
neglecting these big moments and we should all be joining
in and watching tonight. What else are you doing unless
you've got a hot date, I think you should be
turning it on.
Speaker 6 (34:17):
I will say that the RedHawks of Miami of Ohio
are what thirty and oh thirty one and oh this
is our last regular season game. They're on the road
at Ohio and a lot of people will be watching
on ESPN two to see if they can finish the
regular season undefeated.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
Yeah, I know, I know WBC gets just to tab
it higher. I rather watch.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
I know, Daniel Tiger, I know you're gonna roll your
eyes at me. If I rather watch truthfully anything fair fair,
I'd rather just stare at the wall. All right, listen,
coming up, we're gonna play brain wave. I don't know
if Sam's gonna be on my brain wave as we're
talking about the World Baseball Classic and my goodness, the
(35:00):
excitement that Shoho Tani and Wan Soto.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
And by the way, you don't think it's frustrating for
US Mets fans.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
I'm a Mets fan that Sodo's doing the Sodo shuffle again,
something he didn't do at all last year. You know,
the little in the batter's box where he crouches down
a little Sodo shuffle. Yo, he didn't do that once
last year, showing how much he truly must have hated
Pete Alonzo, Brandon Nemo and maybe even still Francisco Lindor.
(35:27):
It bothers me. I feel like they need to go
do an all inclusive vacation together over the next week
or so before the season starts, make amends. But when
I see Juan Soto playing with a smile on his
face with the antics. To me, it's like again I
said it the other day, when you show someone what
you're capable of, he can't turn back.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
In a relationship, I mentioned it the other day.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
If you show your partner what you're capable of in
the bedroom or where if you're captain romance, they know
what you're capable. If you can't, then become a slouch again.
So come on wan So too. Show up this year
for the Mets. Your numbers were great last year, but
bring the excitement to Queens. That's number two. But we're
talking about these superstars that are making hundreds of millions
of dollars. Show Hey, o Tani Scooble, who just won
(36:16):
his arbitration to deal with the Tigers. All the legends
we speak of Dominican team is unbelievable. For the Dominican
Republic team as a lineup that you're you would salivate
over as a fan. But some of the other teams,
do you know what these guys do off the field?
So many of these guys have other jobs. Have you
(36:36):
seen that a lot of these guys Danny g dan
Byer that have regular gigs? No, I haven't, I got
I gotta I gotta just tell you this because I
found it.
Speaker 7 (36:44):
So, I mean they're plumbers like Bob you know, Koozy
played against Is that what we're.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Saying, I'm couzy.
Speaker 9 (36:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
Like back in the day when you'd hear like, oh,
Mickey Mantle owned a car washer, We got a Whitey
Ford owned a drug store.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
Listen to this. This is this is true story right now,
this is on Front Office Sports. I found this.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
Team Chechia, Chechnia and team uh yeah, Team Chechia, the
Czech Republic team. Right, here's some of the jobs that
these guys have. Lucas Holock, he's a pitcher, but guess
what else. He is a nuclear equipment manager. Hey, Marrick Menaik,
(37:23):
he's pitching for this team. He's also a real estate agent.
So if you need if you need a good deal
on a house called Marrick. Andre Setoria, one of the pitchers,
get this electrical construction consultant. And Martin Schneider he's pitching,
but he's also a firefighter. So these guys on some
(37:45):
of these other teams are playing for such pride. It's
about the pride, it's about their home country.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
And I'll tell you.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
He's not here today, but Cavino really did pull me
into the accentment because I was like, yeah, yeah, let's
let's get the Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, Phillies, let's get the
season going. But I'm gonna be locked in tonight because
you see the past. I just hope we could match
the passion like William Escala, who's an outfielder and also
a construction superintendent.
Speaker 7 (38:06):
I think that it says a lot for an event
that we thought maybe maybe I'm mischaracterizing, but I felt
we didn't understand it early on that what is this
just a just for a buck?
Speaker 1 (38:18):
Is this?
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Is that what this is all about?
Speaker 7 (38:21):
And now how it's transformed in the way that it has,
and I don't I don't underestimate on how important it is.
I know it's through our lens as Americans, but you
really needed the Americans to not win, and so with
Japan winning three times the US only winning once, I
think has really helped. And you just talked about the
(38:42):
Dominican Republics lineup.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
They're stacked. Yeah, right, they're stacked.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
And you know what, You're right because I think when
Team USA in the NBA, Team USA in the Olympics
when it was your NBA Superstars. Early on those early
dream teams, it was like Okay. After a while, you're like, okay,
what are they gonna beat people? By fifth year sixty today.
Then when the rest of the world caught up and
some players sat it out, and then the US started
to get upset. Truthfully, it was better globally and and
(39:10):
I and I think, who doesn't like competition? The fact
that the US is the favorite but they haven't won
the last couple. Japan, the dr Venezuela has got a squad,
Puerto Rico's got a great team. I think it's gonna
be a lot of fun. And I hope I was
grammatically correct. Otherwise, Ryan Johnson, who's a utility infielder for
Czech he is.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
An English teacher, so it's one one to make sure
I we're cool. Would you would you want to see
and would you want to see this happen in July?
I know you're saying like, like mid season you would
have to restructure.
Speaker 7 (39:44):
I mean, would you would you be okay with your
with Danny replacing the All Star Game, like replacing the
All Star Game or home on Derby that you take
two weeks off you have this during that time, because
at first I would think like, there's no way that
the teams would go for it, And then other thoughts
to myself, Well, if guys are being limited by their
pitches now, would they be in a better shape to
(40:05):
pitch in that sort of scenario. Would teams be actually
more afraid because it's mid season of their guy getting hurt?
I think that there would be less of a chance
of that happening as opposed to what's happening now.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
Less of a chance of injury when they're in their
groove mid season. Yes, correct, And also I think it
all comes down to, unfortunately chitching, is there a rev
share with someone making money that matters?
Speaker 2 (40:28):
And if you told me like, oh, MLB is going
to profit.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
As far as you know these other countries and organizations,
then yes, if if you took a two week break
and somehow dipped into the regular season a little bit,
the World Baseball Classic would be awesome.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
Dan Byer, I think your template would be best for
the NBA and the NFL. Who's you know, Pro Bowl?
And of course we hear all the junk now about
the All Star break for the NBA as the dunk
contest kind of fell literally fell on its back.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
It's man, there's still some value.
Speaker 7 (40:58):
I know you guys love to bushway at the home
run Derby, so like, there's no reason to get rid
of the Baseball All Star Game. However, would this be
a better product if it was in mid July and
then you just have it.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
I think it's cool when you think about, Like, I'm
a Mets fan, right, Lindor would be playing for Puerto Rico.
Soto's on the dr team, you know, cross Town, Aaron
Judge for the Team USA, Bryce Harper, Team USA. You
start to see all these guys representing their home countries.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
I think it's sort of cool.
Speaker 8 (41:24):
Man.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
The the other portion of it is, I look at
it is just on a whole sports calendar. You could
have it.
Speaker 7 (41:31):
We have the Olympics every four years, so twenty four,
twenty eight, thirty two in the summer, World Cup runs
opposite of that. Yes, Europe, you know, the European Soccer
Championships are opposite of the World Cup. So they've got
there's like we could put up. We could put this
with the other countries in a year where there is
no World Cup, there is no there is no Olympics,
so like in twenty twenty seven, like this would be
(41:53):
and then in twenty thirty one or the next one,
and it's it's our summer international event that you're interested in.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
Look at that. I love it. dB. Put him on
the committee, just throw put him on the committee.
Speaker 1 (42:04):
Great job, great, Yeah, So all right, World Baseball Classic.
Don't don't drink a drive host. Oh my third point
before you get to brain wave on a Friday, Danny
g your raiders so much excitement.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
Fernando Mendoza. You you got rid of Gino Smith?
Speaker 8 (42:20):
Right?
Speaker 2 (42:20):
That was announced?
Speaker 1 (42:21):
Yeah, that was expected, I mean expected, but official now,
which means you're all in on Fernando. And if that's
not the case, then I don't know what the heck's
are going to go on. So Fernando Mendoza number one,
pick you got gent Y, he got Bowers. By the way,
would you be opposed to a man that has served
his time, Henry Ruggs, would you be opposed to reinvestigating
(42:42):
that when that when that comes around, when that comes
down the pike.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
That's a sticky situation, sir, you know, like served his time.
When you know what I'm saying, it's an interesting one.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
We'll say no, but yeah, impartial. I think the team
will have been well moved on past him by that point.
Speaker 1 (43:01):
So there is a lot of excitement in Vegas for
a team that is, you know, bad enough to get
the number one pick, but so much promise. Right, there's
a lot of speculation that if you lose Max Crosby,
it's like a it's like a punch in the gut.
In fact, your former quarterback Derek Carr, what did he say?
Speaker 3 (43:19):
He said, you can't trade him. If you trade him,
there's a hole in the heart and soul of your
football team, your effort, your accountability. The Raiders have one of,
if not the best des in the league.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
Can't you can't get rid of them? Right, I mean, I.
Speaker 3 (43:36):
Agree with that, but some of this just seems like
there's so much smoke that there's definitely some fire there
in the building.
Speaker 2 (43:43):
It was it was it a long lasting dissension.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
When he was jumping on trampolines and showing hey, I
could play, I mean, while the Raiders were resting him.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
Is that was that?
Speaker 3 (43:50):
Just how this goes back further when other fan bases
and other teams kind of like have wanted to will
him off of the Raiders and onto their team.
Speaker 2 (43:59):
They are a bit Trady.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
Forty nine or fan pages have pictures of him and
Nick Bosa like bro hugging, like dude.
Speaker 3 (44:04):
There's been photoshop pictures at him with every other jersey on.
It feels like and you know, so when he did
visibly get upset with the team when he couldn't play
those last two games of the season, of course this
turned in from a brush fire to a wildfire. Now
the word has been that Spy Tech and Company there
Tom Brady. They want two first round picks and a player,
(44:29):
and there's been word that, you know, there's some teams
that are getting close to that but don't want to
lose that much capital.
Speaker 2 (44:35):
I just feel like.
Speaker 1 (44:37):
You could, you could probably make an analogy for other
things in life, but you know, when you're so close,
you're so close, like don't leave before you're there, like
like the really you know, we turn the corner in
this relationship, or like, oh, the job you work out,
I promise.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
There's gonna be a merger or something. Everything's gonna be good.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
Like I feel like the Raiders are so close to
like giving Max Crosby like, Oh, you're on a team
now that matters. Don't leave now, Like don't you feel
like Max Crosby leaving now just sucks for him in
a way unless he goes through a team that's ready.
Speaker 3 (45:05):
He's been through a lot, so I get it. But
as a long time Raiders fan, especially for the fandies,
he is the Raiders. He has a big Raiders tattoo
on him. He's been mister Raider like Tim Brown used
to be prior to him. But what's really hard is
this back and forth, which has not been a lot
of back and forth because he's not saying anything right now.
(45:27):
He's still showing up first in the building to work out.
They say the last to leave. He still has his
work ethic going. He's not getting on a microphone saying
I want to leave. But yet he's letting this burn,
this fire burn, and the Raiders' front office is not
coming out saying we're slamming the door on this, we're
not going to listen to offers. Instead, Spy Tech said, yeah, well,
I'm gonna do my due diligence and listen to other teams.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
I mean, if the I mean everything as as mister
Buxton staid in Pee's Big Adventure. Great reference. By the way,
everything's negotiable. He wanted Pee's bike. Everything's negotiable. If someone's
like Danny, We'll give the Raiders a three number three
first round picks.
Speaker 2 (46:07):
You'll be at that.
Speaker 3 (46:08):
Point, you rich, you know, a hard core Niners fan.
If the heart and soul of your team, Fred Warner
was out there in the news like this and every
team was making a push for him, wouldn't you want
your leaders or your team to come out and say, no,
it's not even on the table.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
Tell you what, I guarantee you within one scroll of
my phone, I can find the photoshop of him and
Nick Bosa in matching forty nine Ers uniforms, because every
team has them.
Speaker 7 (46:30):
But there's also the point I mean, Mike Seahawks Russell
Wilson for a long time was one of the only
things going for them, and they were only going so far.
And I know quarterback is a different situation, but it's
a very apropos because of how valuable that position is.
And while we see more quarterback movement now than we
did previously, the thought of trading someone of the caliber
(46:53):
of Russell Wilson at that time, whether the demise was
already starting to see cracks, whatever the case is, it
still was a very foreign But the point is with
the Seahawks is if we are going to win a championship,
it is not going to be with Russell Wilson and
the amount of money that we are paying him. And
I think if you're the Raiders, by the time you
turn it around, you may be more bullish on what
(47:14):
their near future is than I am. But I just
don't think that keeping Max Crosby is going to be
the solution for them to reach the place that they
want to read.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
I mean, that's a great point. I'll give you the
dumbest analogy. If you're read, If you're redesigning a room
in your house, you don't redo your bathroom with a
trend that might be on the way out. Like you
almost have to work ahead because you're like, we're gonna
have this bathroom for center twenty years. Like you, if
you pick something too trendy in now, it'll be outdated.
And if Max Crosby is eating up a lot of
(47:46):
money and you don't think you could win for a
handful of years, like the Raiders are in the beginning
of a really.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
Nice like rebuild. Maybe like maybe it's better to get
we could get a lot for this guy.
Speaker 3 (47:55):
I do think would it take what would you give
Max another two years in this situation, because yesterday evening
Mike Harmon, he said basically what you said that, oh,
by the Raiders. By the time the Raiders get things
turned around, Max Crosby could be, you know, over the hill.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
He's twenty eight, he could be a thirty one time
they finally get back to Like me with the NFL,
you could turn things around quickly.
Speaker 6 (48:16):
And I knew, I know you need a lot of
luck help, Like like a guy like Mendoza, he might need.
He might not have the insect success of like a
Drake may Or, but it might be. It might be
Drake may two seasons. Sorry, but like it might take
Mendoza a few years, plus the offensive line needs to
be rebuilt.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
What it might take several years?
Speaker 3 (48:34):
What if Mendoza lights it up and Tom Brady and
spy Tech finally get this thing on the right track,
and then Max Crosby's looking across the street like, dang it,
I should have just waited one or two more seasons.
Speaker 2 (48:45):
I wish I wouldn't have made my kitchen white.
Speaker 6 (48:47):
I've heard the racist like Max Crosby going to the
Bears would be like instant success.
Speaker 3 (48:53):
Bears are a great example. And I told Mike Carmen,
because he's a Bears fan, I said, you know what,
your your team is a great example of this. It
was just a couple of seasons ago that you guys
were the butt of a lot of jokes saying you
were one of the most but a couple of years ago. Yeah,
But it took a quarterback obviously in Caleb Williams, and
a new coach and some other pieces to get them on.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
The right track.
Speaker 7 (49:13):
The Bears Raiders connection that I look at is the
Khalil macdeal, Like who did it really benefit ultimately?
Speaker 2 (49:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (49:20):
All right, Like the Raiders unfortunately didn't make the most
of the picks that they got in the deal, and
the Bears didn't reach the heights that they had wanted to,
So ultimately I don't know who who won. Would it
have been better for khil Mack to just stay a
Raider the whole time? Well, I don't think so. I
think they made the right move. I think both teams
made the right move. They just didn't hit on their players.
But that's the that's the risky take. The only trade
(49:43):
that I remember that I actually thought that the guy
never should be traded is the Luka Dancis trade, where
I felt the Dallas Mavericks fans would rather lose with
Luca than win without them.
Speaker 1 (49:54):
I think that's why that trade's talked about so much,
and it really hits us all weird, like it was
like always past his prime. It wasn't like, uh oh
they're doing it, just felt like, oh wow, we were
in Vegas when it happens, and Danny jew will back
me up. Everyone in that casino was like, wait this real?
Speaker 2 (50:09):
What like it really? Even looking at it now, you're like,
that's a weird trade.
Speaker 7 (50:13):
And I love I love Max Crosby, and I'd love
if the Seahawks were in on Max Crosby. I don't
think they can reach the price that the Raiders are asking.
But the point is is is Max Crosby to the
Raiders what Luca was to the MAVs And I don't
think so. There are a lot of Raiders have a
lot of great players, so Max Crosby is one of them.
But I just don't think he's in the category of
you pass this up because he's mister Raider, and I
(50:37):
think that you have to trade him when his value
is the highest or the highest it's going to be.
Speaker 1 (50:43):
That was Sometimes someone is mister whoever and it just
might it's just not gonna work. Notably the Red Sox,
the backlash they got when they said, yeah, we're gonna
just get rid of Nomar. Nomar was like the he
was the most popular reds they get rid of him
and they had to go on to win the World
Series for the first time in the you know, on
(51:04):
hundred years. Sure, so sometimes you know you gotta make
that move. All right, listen, we're gonna play Brainwaven.
Speaker 2 (51:10):
Thank you guys. Good inside. It's it is interesting when
you're when you're one of your main guys is.
Speaker 1 (51:15):
On the trading block, because I know Danny g every
day with his Raiders gear comes in here thinking about
Mendoza on one hand, on the other hand, being like
we keep my favorite playing.
Speaker 3 (51:24):
I just want the Crosby saga to be over. And
by the way, could he beat up Logan Paul?
Speaker 2 (51:28):
Yeah, I think so. I think so too.
Speaker 1 (51:30):
All right, we're gonna play Brainwave all right, Let's do
this time for Brainwave.
Speaker 5 (51:40):
Do Coveno and Race really share the same brain?
Speaker 2 (51:44):
Ch Chatty Chadny Rave something.
Speaker 5 (51:47):
Joe demagre Y is their crew not far behind.
Speaker 8 (51:51):
We're one.
Speaker 5 (51:52):
Welcome to Brainwave.
Speaker 4 (51:54):
Try to make sense of the brain.
Speaker 5 (51:56):
It's easy. We dropped on sports, music and entertainment. And
if you match with enough of these bosoms, you win.
Speaker 2 (52:03):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (52:05):
On the count of three, reveal Brainway one, two, three, Yeah,
yeah ten.
Speaker 5 (52:13):
Guys, you're on the same way plank right now?
Speaker 3 (52:16):
All right, Happy Friday. The questions in this game are
all subjective. You just need to try and match the
brain of CNR and the crew. Gonna get our contestant
from the studio lines, and then I'll explain the rules.
First one through Chuck at Arizona.
Speaker 2 (52:30):
Oh what's up, Chucky? So we feel like we know
you a little bit. What do you do for a
living there? In Easy?
Speaker 5 (52:39):
I actually work for water for the town and Gilbert I.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
All right, hope you treated nice?
Speaker 3 (52:48):
All right, Here's how the game goes. I got five
rounds ready. Our contestant needs to win two of them
to be the CHAMPI and walk away with a CNR
price pack. I'm gonna ask a question and then give
three debatable answers to choose from the five of us
today in studio, going to write down our dry erase
boards here the answers on them for the YouTube channel,
and then on the count of three, Chuck is gonna
(53:09):
shout out his answer and try to match at least
three of us to win the round or no matter
the caller's answer, If all five of us in studio
happen to match, it is an automatic round four.
Speaker 2 (53:18):
Chucky ready to go?
Speaker 8 (53:21):
All right?
Speaker 2 (53:24):
Yeah? Five? Today instead of saying, yeah, hey, Chucky, you
don't speak a phone, you want to pick up the
phone for a second?
Speaker 3 (53:30):
Yeah, okay, all right? Round one. Let's start with a
lifestyle category. Which of these three places should people never
bring a small child? Formal weddings, an R rated movie,
or an upscale restaurant?
Speaker 2 (53:47):
Ooh, the oh man, all the above?
Speaker 3 (53:51):
I say it again, Which of these three places should
people never bring a small child? Formal wedding, an R
rated movie, or an upscale restaurant? Oky writing our answers down?
Oh my god, Rich Davis, We're gonna start with you
after we get Chuck's answer on the counter of three,
Chuck one two three movie, He says, R rated movie,
(54:13):
Rich Davis, you know what I've.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
Thought about this one long and hard because I love kids.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
I got two kids. I coach all these kids. They
don't belong in weddings. I know they don't, But you
knowwhere else they don't belong. They don't belong in fancy restaurants.
But I think those two places are acceptable. You'd be
a pretty crummy parent if you brought a little kid
to an R rated movie. You know my brother, I'll
call him out. He's like, you know, I'm thinking about
taking my kids to Scream seven. I'm like, and I
(54:41):
think you're a moron.
Speaker 8 (54:42):
Can't do it all?
Speaker 2 (54:45):
Right, Dan Bayer, let's say you.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
Al rated movie? Mag I mean, right, needs one more
to win the round. Here Ian is sitting for Spot today.
Speaker 2 (54:54):
That's some fellas already one.
Speaker 8 (55:00):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (55:00):
Let's just find out, Yeah, find out what we said.
Speaker 3 (55:02):
I said wedding, because I don't know the context of
the rated R movie could just be for language or something.
Speaker 2 (55:08):
What'd you say, Sam?
Speaker 1 (55:09):
You know? Not?
Speaker 2 (55:10):
Danny deviated there from what we've all been picking. Buck.
I went with our R rated movie as well? Are
do it? Yeah? Don't do it. Don't do it.
Speaker 3 (55:19):
I'm taking code a sea scream. So it just got
a point on the board here, all right, halfway to
the CNR price pack. Let's go to sports for round two.
In an mm A cage fight? What would hurt worse?
Sean Merriman kicking you in the face, punching you in
the face, or kicking you in the stomach. He was
(55:39):
on the show last hour, kicking you in the face.
Sean Merriman, punching you in the face, or kicking you
in the stomach.
Speaker 1 (55:46):
Are we all picturing these terrible things right now? I'm like, yeah,
whoa hurt worse?
Speaker 2 (55:52):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (55:52):
All right, we're all writing our answers down, all right,
and we'll go in reverse order this time. After Chuck
gives us his answer one.
Speaker 8 (56:02):
Two three, they gotta beat his stomach.
Speaker 3 (56:06):
So a kick to the stomach, okay, Iowa, Samuel, what
say you? Well, man, they're all they're all gonna suck.
I went for the kick to the face, kick to
the face. I also said kick to the grill, all right,
I said two strikes Ian, I said kick to the
(56:26):
face as well.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
Maybe we'll all mature. We're still open here, Dann Bayer,
Let's make it four for four. Kick to the face.
All comes down to Rich Davis. I even drew a
little picture of a foot to the face. Ah yeah, well,
hold on, that was too easy. Let's keep playing a
couple just for fun.
Speaker 3 (56:46):
We'll do round three and Chuck in Arizona. If you
can get this, we'll throw some extras into your prize pack.
Speaker 6 (56:52):
Okay, So Chuck picked up the rare backdoor point where
you we are all the same brain brainway, but he
was not.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
Gets a point for it, Lucky duck.
Speaker 3 (57:02):
Alright, round than let's go to the music category. Of
these three twenty twenty six nominees, who deserves to be
in the rock and Roll Hall of Fame the most?
Mariah Carey, Billy Idle or Phil Collins.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
Rock and roll, rock and roll Hall of Fame. But
they're putting all kinds.
Speaker 1 (57:23):
Of they keep in mind, they put hip hop, rock, pop,
everything in the Hall of Fame these days.
Speaker 3 (57:27):
Mariah Carey, Billy Idyl or Phil Collins. It's proball gonna
write our answers down, all right, everybody locked in?
Speaker 2 (57:36):
Yeah, locked in? Chuck on the counter of three, one
two three, I.
Speaker 8 (57:41):
Think one of these things are not like the other.
Billy Idol, he.
Speaker 3 (57:45):
Says, Billy Idol, we start with Rich Davis.
Speaker 2 (57:47):
Oh you Dumbo, you dummy. I love you.
Speaker 1 (57:52):
But come on, Billy Idol's got some good songs. I
like Billy Idol. He was great in the wedding singer.
He's got some songs. It's a day for a white wedding.
But are we forgetting like Mariah's dominance for like a
whole decade. She has like more number one than anyone.
I don't even like Mariah. I'm not even a fan,
but denied agree.
Speaker 8 (58:13):
Yeah, I agree with you. But rock and roll?
Speaker 2 (58:16):
Yeah, yeah, I know rock and roll. But I'm just saying, man,
I'm not even a Mariah fan. All right, Dan, But
who's on the line is it? It's Chuck Chuck.
Speaker 7 (58:26):
Okay, Chuck may be dancing with himself here because I
went Phil Collins.
Speaker 2 (58:33):
Ian who's in for spot today? I'm with Dan.
Speaker 3 (58:35):
I want Phil Collins. I also went the great Phil Collins.
Speaker 8 (58:41):
Rock and roll.
Speaker 3 (58:42):
He was part of Genesis. Iowa Sam and we're.
Speaker 2 (58:46):
This is just for extra bells and whistles here, right,
But I did go with Phil Collins.
Speaker 3 (58:51):
Also, Rich blocked out. Yeah for the back door cover. Yeah,
we got time for one category, all right, the relationship category,
Rich's favorite. If you found out that your partner who
was in a serious relationship with you cheated, would you
(59:11):
break things off immediately with no contact, accept their apology
and give them a second chance, or get with their
friend for revenge?
Speaker 2 (59:22):
All right?
Speaker 3 (59:23):
If you found out that your partner who is in
a serious relationship with you cheated, would you break things
off immediately with no contact, accept their apology and give
them another chance, or get with their friend for revenge?
Speaker 2 (59:35):
For all writing our answers down, this feels deeply personal.
I don't know wave here are married? Hey?
Speaker 3 (59:48):
Blame social media. That's where I do all my research
for this category. Chuck's already got this in the bag.
Is Chuck on the count of three, one two three?
Speaker 8 (01:00:00):
So because I know most of you are married, I'm
gonna go with the safe answer and say leave with
no contact.
Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
No contact, Okay, And we will start with IOWA saying
no contact, break things off.
Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
Samuel L. Johnson and I am on the same brain
wave as Chuck. Break it off?
Speaker 8 (01:00:20):
Now do it now? I am wait.
Speaker 1 (01:00:22):
I think this answer says a lot about everyone in
this room. So I'm judging all of you secretly and
openly in my mind.
Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
I agree with you too, I said by Felicia.
Speaker 7 (01:00:32):
By the way, if any of these significant others are listening,
if you chose forgive, it's an automatic free pass, right,
you've already you've already shown your hand.
Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
But you got dB break things off three in a row. dB, Yeah, answer, no,
I break it off.
Speaker 1 (01:00:52):
I got a different answer, And I'll tell you what
if you got. I got two little kids in a
very nice house, and a lot of things and a
lot of steak, and I like seeing my kids all
the time. My wife's a really good woman. So that's
why I think I could say this. I would forgive,
knowing that I've gained a freebie.
Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
Oh free slip up. You live in a world that, yeah,
I just don't relate to, doesn't exist. Then I'm like,
all right, so now I would have to sell my
house because you did something dumb. I don't know. I
just don't speak people too quick to be like I'm out.
Speaker 3 (01:01:29):
But you know, Chuck did win that round. So you
get some extras in the prize pack, So congratulations, A
fat prize pack coming to Arizona.
Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
Hey, thank you, appreciate you job, Chuck very much. All Right,
hey everyone, have a great weekend. Let's go to dB
for an update. Dann Buyer, what's going on, Buddy?
Speaker 7 (01:01:46):
Fox Sports one World Baseball Classic playpool A Puerto Rico
against Columbia. Scoreless right now in the bottom of the
second ending Puerto Rico. One of four games. Tonight, the
United States takes on Brazil. That comes up at eight
o'cloa time. You will see that on Fox as they
play in Houston Tonight. In Boston, Celtics star Jason Tatum
(01:02:06):
will make his season debut against the Mavericks, ten months
after rupturing as Achilles Tendon. Lakers forward Lebron James out
tonight against the Pacers because of a left elbow contusion.
He's also dealing with arthritis in his left foot. In
college football, Former Michigan and football coach toire On Moore
reached a plead deal with prosecutors following his arrest in December.
A fello in the home invasion charge was dropped as
he played no contest to two misdemeanors and will be
(01:02:29):
sentenced on April fourteenth. The Raiders every leased quarterback Gino
Smith while the Texans are letting go off running back
Joe Mixon. dB, you got something just quickly because of
Sam and the podcast. Can't hear it playing Land of Confusion?
Do you remember not liking songs as much because he
didn't like the videos? That was the one with the
government leader puppets that as a kid, I just couldn't
(01:02:50):
relate to. So I didn't like the song as much
because I didn't like the video as much.
Speaker 2 (01:02:55):
That a great topic in itself.
Speaker 1 (01:02:56):
Yes, I'll be honest from a radio nerd perspective, You
guys can't up in the sports radio world, Danny, You
and I both worked, you know, at times in the
music radio world. There were songs that didn't like because
they didn't have an intro, like I couldn't talk over
them like they started their words. So I always had
to be really quick with what I was saying, like, hey, yeah,
here's green Day.
Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
Yeah. But TV.
Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
That's a great point because we were little kids, and
I remember that video was creepy. We just thought it
was a creepy video. Yeah, it just didn't didn't resonate.
Speaker 7 (01:03:22):
So I didn't like the songs, but so it would
come on MTV and be like, oh, but now listening
to it just on the radio, you're like, all right, yeah,
what a good song.
Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
No, Kavino, who's not here today, He'll be back on Monday.
Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
He has a theory that you could listen to music
you liked as a kid and all of a sudden
gain a whole new appreciation for a song, Like there's
a song that you might have just you know, you
might have had on a random mixtape or something. I
have songs, okay, and it might just hit you different
as an adult. Maybe it makes you think of your
kids or a relationship, or or it just might hit
you different as an adult. So don't be shocked if
(01:03:52):
an old song come back, comes back and hit you.
Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
It happens.
Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
All right, here's what you gotta watch this weekend. Weekend
hobnob It come on for the weekend.
Speaker 5 (01:04:01):
You're winning bets for talking points. If you get stuck socializing.
Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
You ever done anything dangerous? You ever dance with the
devil in the pan line? Friday brings us.
Speaker 5 (01:04:12):
Weekend Hobnam.
Speaker 1 (01:04:14):
Hob Nobbin begins tonight, Team USA. You will say USA
take it on Brazil, Like I said before, they might
win in a booty contest, but as far as baseball
goes Logan Webb on the Hill, Aaron Judge trying to
make a statement. He has to you see what Soto's
doing for the dr and Otani hitting Grand salamis from Japan.
(01:04:36):
So Team USA eight pm Eastern, about an hour and
ten minutes from now, first Pitch World Baseball Class.
Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
You gotta keep your eye on that this weekend.
Speaker 8 (01:04:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:04:45):
I'm just looking on Netflix and trending number two right
now behind Bridgerton, which I'm sure a lot of wives
and girlfriends want to watch.
Speaker 2 (01:04:51):
Vladimir. It looks like a hot and heavy drama.
Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
I don't you know, you know, one of those where
it's like the trailers, just like hot women, like stripping.
Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
Anyway, you might want to is that about Vladimir Putin?
It's called Vladimir.
Speaker 6 (01:05:04):
I think that's how they hook you, or like Volodomir Zelinsky,
I mean the president of Ukraine.
Speaker 1 (01:05:09):
I mean, is this related to the war? And I
think what you're saying has nothing to do. It's just
called Vladimir. I think it's called Latimir. About that name
in the news.
Speaker 2 (01:05:18):
Maybe it's a.
Speaker 1 (01:05:19):
Sultry life of Vladimir putin. I don't know, I don't
think so how about a Friend and a Murderer for
those those people that love like the crime stuff? A
limited new crime series, comedy specials Bruce Bruce has a
new one, and Taylor Tomlinson she's hilarious, She's got one
and uh. As far as other things, I need to
catch up on Danny Paradise if people are not on
(01:05:41):
board or ready.
Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
Four episodes deep.
Speaker 1 (01:05:43):
Season one was awesome and a lot of people don't
even realize it's back Paradise.
Speaker 2 (01:05:47):
You can catch on Hulu, Sterling, Kate Brown.
Speaker 3 (01:05:49):
So many streaming services. That's why we don't even check
our Hulu that often.
Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
No, sometimes you're like, oh wait, that's back, so definitely
worth checking out. And I think this is the weekend
one of the best shows of the last decade Apple TV.
I think I'm gonna start binging the third season Shrinking
with Harrison Ford and this season Michael J.
Speaker 2 (01:06:06):
Fox. I know I'm late to the party, but sometimes
you know that feeling.
Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
Where you want to let a couple episodes build up
and then benjam that's where we're at.
Speaker 3 (01:06:13):
So that's what I'm watching, all right. I got two
on Netflix for you, a new Steven and an old Steven.
The new one Steven Spielberg The Dinosaurs four episode documentary
series released today and it features cutting edge CGI and
it's narrated by the great Morgan Freeman. Oh it's gonna
be awesome. And to watch it with your kid, Yeah,
(01:06:34):
not the mama, Oh no, not that dinosauric And then
he's done an old Stephen King novel. This show's from
twenty sixteen, but it's found a whole new audience now
that it's on Netflix. Eleven, twenty two sixty three, starring
James Franco and Sarah Goadon. Franco goes back in a
time machine to try to stop the jfk assassination.
Speaker 1 (01:06:51):
I watched it first time around and I totally forgot
some of the parts, so I actually watched the first
episode again.
Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
Such a good show, Ok, really, really is. I would say,
what's on your radar?
Speaker 6 (01:07:01):
So the oscars are coming up a week from Sunday,
and I have some work to do, so I'm gonna
be on Netflix watching two movies that I haven't seen yet,
Train Dreams and also Frankenstein, which I know a lot
of people have seen so far. There's also a lot
of great college basketball, and conference tournaments are kind of
getting regular season for men is wrapping up.
Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
Women's college conference sermons are in full swing.
Speaker 1 (01:07:19):
And if you got little kiddos, I said, there's a
ton of movies that are gonna be out this spring
and summer.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
This weekend, they're.
Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
Expecting big things from Hoppers, where the cartoon character goes
in the body of an animal and the realizes all
the animals can talk very very Doctor Dolittle like, but
expect that to do big numbers. And if you need
to bring your kiddo to the theater and you want
to get out and do something. Hoppers, they're saying, probably
gonna make a ton of dough this weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:07:43):
Thank you guys for hanging.
Speaker 1 (01:07:45):
Thank you guys for filling in the gaps where Cavino's
away until Monday.
Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
A riba there you baby, sure you in the problem,
saying good bye one of them
