(00:24):
I just tell you my frustration At first, dude, You're like,
my dad, Well, it was a moment. I had an
old guy moment and then I watch this was like, bro,
I can't find the derby. I was like, why is
it blocked down? I was thinking it was like some
sort of sling thing or you know how cable could
drive you crazy. Nowadays, I'm a slinger, guys. I know
(00:45):
people know that about I don't know I people know
this about me. Don't tell my parents, But I'm a slinger,
and I'm like, where is Fox? And where's the All
Star Game? Where's the derby? I was so mad about it, Honestly,
I was like, I wasted a good twenty minutes trying
to figure it out. I was trying to hack into
your Direct TV account.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Yeah, I gave that two years ago for Lakers game.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Here's that dude. I downloaded my all the channels on
my regular antenna. Brenda's wondering why Blue he keeps changing
off the TV. I took it back to the little house,
I said, back to the fifties. I was trying to
get the intended to work. I'm like, I gotta get
Fox to work. Where's the All Star because I know
the game today's on the on Fox, right, So where's
the Derby? Well, I know why I forgot it was
(01:28):
on Netflix. I know why you had the confusion because
I keep seeing all the social media posts of Poppy
and Jeter and Kevin Burkehark. So you get Fox. So
you're thinking all Fox Fox, Fox has the All Star game.
They do. But the Derby last night was on Netflix,
and of course I knew that. But in the moment,
I totally blanked and I was just driving myself crazy
trying to find it.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
But I tuned in and right off the bat pun
intended bombs. I caught Ben Rice and I was rooting
for him, and he got seven. I was proud of
my guy. Look, he's a young dude. He's pumped to
be there. That's a positive way to look at your
guy coming in last place. It's all good, dude. He
hit set what one less than Bryce Harper. It's not
like he embarrassed himself. It's not like you pulled the
jazz chislm right. They had six more than yeah, jazz,
(02:10):
he had six more than jazz. He was there with
his dad. It was a fun moment and he said
something cool, which Jordan Walker also said. You know, they
don't boo nobody's right, so hey, if they're booing me, great.
He had fun with it. That's the best way to
look at it. And that's why I was obviously rooting
for his Yankees fan. But who cares about that? Just
telling you my experience. You know, the bombs were being hit,
I'm watching the new rules. I'm noticing no one's hitting
(02:33):
the last pitch, you know, the bonus pitch. I'm like,
no one's gotten one yet. And I just noticed the
overall excitement. The only thing I hated about it was
that you and I weren't there. No, But honestly, I
thought anyone that criticized it, it's just a complainer because
I love the format. It moved along. There was no
super speed of rushing, though wasn't like, oh you gotta
(02:53):
get more? Is it?
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Complaints of some of the camera angles.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Well, I saw a few complaints. People are always going
to complain, right, Everyone thinks they're U cisc l An Ebert.
Everyone's a big critic of everything. Everyone's a contributor on
Rotten Potatoes. Everyone has a stupid opinion. So I heard, man,
we miss Berman the back back back, back, back back back,
which I get right, but you know it was a
different spin on things. Chris Berman's getting older. No disrespect there,
(03:19):
but you know it's not always going to be that way, right,
So that was one complaint. I miss Howard Coachell on
Monday Night Football, No, look, I miss him too, right,
But we got to move forward with changing kiddos. And
I saw Jeff Passon, who I like because he's a
baseball savant. You like him because he looks like Howdy
Duty and you're a big Howdy Duty fan I was
as a kid. So yeah, I you know, I think
(03:41):
he's a swell fella. Can you don't tell he had
a Jeff Pausen doll? And I was like, dude, that's
just a how do do I'm telling him. He said
that Rich is basically saying it's like, howdy duty does
he not? What are you gonna tell me next? He's
not the only guy here. Gammon's didn't look like mister Drummonds.
But again, you don't call out nobody's, you don't boot nobody's.
I only call him out because he's the name that
you would recognize a lot of people, including him, were
(04:03):
saying that the new format was gonna stink because what
made it fun was the rushing pressure. That's what I
didn't like. It was the rushing pressure of the home
run derby and the and the time clock. But they
eliminated it this year, and man, I thought it was
(04:25):
a cool vibe all around, like no complaints for me. Whately,
you can watch a two hour movie and it could
feel short, but then you can watch a two hour
movie and it feels long as hell. I don't know
how this compared time wise to other years, but to me,
it felt like it moved because in some are other years,
I feel like a drag. I feel like the clock
(04:45):
was like five minutes, four minutes, three minutes. I just
feel like it was a lot with you. I think
yesterday's competition goshes. It kept us wanting more. Eight Guys
Top four advance and then bam boom bem bamboom. Fine world.
That's it. That's how you have to operate. Like there's
a fun fact. I don't know if people realize this,
but this is truth. Instead of coming up with more
creative ideas and narratives and and themes, there's a lot
(05:10):
of production companies that are putting out TV shows that
are so brainless and thoughtless just to accompany your cell phone,
because that's how people watch.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Right.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
We have the attention spans of goldfish nowadays, So they're actually,
instead of trying to get more creative, giving you dumbing
it down so that you could watch your phone and
the show and not really miss it, they'll make it.
They'll make the plot too good. They're trying to keep
it simple. So in a world where we just want simple,
we want things to move fast because we get bored
so easily. I really think they nailed it Yester'd, because
(05:40):
I'm with you Rich, That's one of my observations. I
felt like it was like it was so quick but good.
It was at the pocket, it was long, but a
Homer Dew isn't going to be that quick, but it
was a pocket of awesome. I loved how they were like,
all right, twenty swings, you get twenty swings, narrated down
well and then again I missed the first twenty minute
because I couldn't find it. But I'm telling you that's
how you're not alone one versus four or two versus
three final matchup. What I thought was it was simple, right,
(06:04):
that thought it was simp which is true.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Their ratings increased hugely in the second half hour of
the broadcast because it was a lot of people time
to figure out where it was.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Oh yes on Netflix, and then you know what. I
What I also loved about it was how again without
the timing, it was more pure of a hey you
get twenty swings, Hey you get fifteen swings. Yeah, digging
the batter's box like make them count. You know, it
wasn't a factor how fast the batting practice pitcher was throwing.
(06:35):
How fast? Oh you get two timeouts and there's that
like the stressful vibes. I just you can wait for
your pitch, right, you're not just taking hacks because because
you're on that pressure clock. And man, I liked it
a lot, and I think everyone loves to just bitch
and complained about everything. I thought it was really a
fun night. And you know, as a Mets fan, I
got not much to root for. But watching I'm sorry
(06:57):
to say this, Philadelphia, to see both of your superstars
fall fall short in like dramatic moments, people saying sports
karma was sort of awesome. Sports karma. But I like Schwarber.
He's a great player, a great cut of.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Roof for you didn't like him yesterday. I picked Schwarves
and you picked tarp I. Like we did predicto that
it would come down to the two of them battling
against each other, and it did.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
It advanced for you know, great theatrics. I feel like
it really hit every every spot of awesome yesterday, including
like Philadelphia just being great host. I love the fact
that they were booing people and they were cheering on
their guys. But yeah, it was a lot of excite.
Well we all know that. I thought that was great.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
Man.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
If you watch baseball, and I don't expect everyone to
watch as much as we did, we're big baseball guys.
But to know that Contreras is one of the most
hated guys in baseball. The fact that he was sort
of playing back and forth to the crowd when remember
in that round where he had eight and had nine,
that I thought the Philadelphia crowd, as much as I
love to bust their balls because I'm a Mets fan,
they really stepped it up. Like what a great vibe
(08:03):
for the home run derby when Kentreras couldn't get that
ninth home run in the crowd of ups. And then
I thought it was equally awesome when Sharbert looked like
he was sitting pretty and we get to see a
guy by the name of Jordan Walker say hey, world,
meet me. And you know what was a big night
for our pal Rob Parker because MLB bro Jordan Walker
(08:26):
saying that he really hopes that this inspires a lot
of young black kids to really start. Dude, I was
thinking taking a look at baseball again. Look, I've said
it for years. Some of our favorite baseball players growing
up were dudes like Ricky Henderson and Dave Winfield, Daryl
Harrold Baines, and Darryl Strawberry and dude, the list goes
on with like black dude, Oh my god, Dave Stewart
you can go on all day like black dudes that
(08:48):
were just hitting bombs, had great arms and that you
love to root for, right, great arm short Sean Dunstan. Look,
I mean they're like we we grew up with so
many great.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
With black.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Smith's right, and it went down to below eight percent
at one point, and it's still around there now. So
when you see guys like this step up and you
see the show he put on in the style in
which he did it, I think it does, you know,
plant a seed in a lot of young minds, well,
a lot of young black athletes. I mean, the status
(09:23):
are there. The NFL, NBA seems to lure more enthusiasm.
Baseball is a longer path. There's not as many certainties.
It's a longer grind. You can get drafted. The draft
was recently right. These guys, the kids that got drafted
in the first round, they may not see a major
League baseball field first of all, ever, let alone maybe
for a year or so. Well as they established too.
(09:44):
Jordan Walker's no slub. The guy's a six foot five,
beasted on two hundred and twenty five, solid looking dude.
And I believe Eduardo Perez was telling the story of
how you know it's it's a better story than we
realize because he's a guy that hit a lot of
bumps along the way and he lost his swing and
(10:05):
he struggled deeply to the point where he couldn't lift
the ball anymore. And that's something that he worked on
in the offseason and now he's the home run champion. Well,
like he couldn't. The biggest criticism on that guy is
he couldn't lift the ball. That a guy was doing
it with the greatest of ease, like Riches's family on
the flying trapeze, Like, I mean.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
It kind of looked like he was half swinging.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Bro Here's Here's. I don't know if it was strategy,
but this strategierary worked like a charm because you saw
these other dudes, all these since we made it about
black guys, all these white guys taking taking monster hacks right,
like Bryce Harper's and Ben Rice's and Schwarbi's, these dudes
take monster hacks right. And then you get Jordan Walker
(10:50):
up there, and it was noticeably smooth, calm and collected.
That dude was swinging like like like like nothing mattered, easy, breezy, beautiful,
insane so I was like, this guy's conserving his energy
for the later rounds or something. He was barely hitting
him out at first, but then you know, then he
(11:12):
started teeing off at the end. What I loved were
his parents right there. That was awesome, and the crowd
really thinking that Sharber had.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
Dad.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
It was a point where you're like, all right, he
needs three in a row to tie and then another
one to win, and you're like, come and again. The
only reason he continued is because he got a home
run on the last bonus ball, and then you keep
swinging until you miss, which is awesome, which is the
way he saw it play out, and that was so
much fun. So Jordan Walker is on the map. Calm
(11:47):
and cool always wins. That's my takeaway. My takeaway is
a stage like that could put a guy's name in
the conversation now, meaning if you're not a diehard baseball fan,
you might not know a thing about Jordan Walker because
he came into the league, like you said, struggled at first.
He came in with a lot of hype, never lived
up to it, had some bumps along the way, and
(12:10):
if you look at his stats, he's been you know,
two ninety four, twenty two home runs and seventy four
I wasn't talking about his All Star stats this year.
I'm talking about before that, like last year's six home runs, like,
you know, more of a guy that was just yeh,
poking the ball here there, not really not really living
up to what they thought. But right now at the break,
batting close to three hundred, which has been two ninety
(12:32):
four nowadays, might as well be three thirty when we
were kids, right on, no doubt, two ninety four, twenty
two home runs, seventy four rubies. This guy's gonna bat
at well, you know, at this pace, will probably ended
up with forty homers, one hundred and twenty something at
RBIs and here we are welcome to being a star
in midjor league baseball. But I think winning the derby
last night reminded everyone like, oh, there's some players that
(12:53):
I'm not that familiar with, because I was Sam, Were
you that for Were you that familiar with Jordan Walker before?
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Idea?
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Who he was? No idea?
Speaker 5 (12:59):
Because he and I looked like his salary is like
under a million dollars or something like that.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
You know, like sometimes these derbies introduced you to smaller
market guys like a couple of years ago Cavino was
when you and I first like, yeah, Junior, Kevinaro, this
guy's a baller like because if you don't watch their
division of those teams day in and day out, some
of these guys could go under the rain. It's true.
I know a lot more young American League players than
I do National League players. But I didn't know if
(13:24):
Jordan Walker, but I didn't know if anything. I thought
he was going to be the weakest competitor, and I
was very weakest. Odds right, Yeah, he had the weakness thoughts,
I wasn't wrong in thinking that. They actually mentioned that yesterday,
but it was really cool to see, and we go
to your feedback at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
(13:44):
I think you know, I saw the look of bewilderment
on Schwarby's face. I thought the coverage of his reaction
was great because you're just watching him as as Walker
was teeing off right, and you could see that look
of panic and like concern because we every but he
thought he had it and Walker proved everybody wrong. And
whether you like it or not, and whether you think
(14:05):
he rained on the Philadelphia Parade. He earned that victory
and nobody could take it away from him. I thought
it was awesome. And if you missed the call, because
a lot of people even had, like we said, problem
with the coverage, here's how it went down. He was calm,
(14:31):
So did it ruin the Philadelphia party? Yeah? But I'm
cool with that dude. It was so effortless though, That's
what was wild about it. This is a weird thought.
I just had a weird thought. Can I tell you
I remember a bit about this really good life? Well,
it's like a weird an Italian. Yeah, well, it depends
how you feel about this guy. I remember as a
(14:53):
little kid realizing who Michael McDonald was. I'm like, that's
the guy, right, And I remember seeing him.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
My mom still doesn't know.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Yeah, right, So many people thought he was like some
black dude or something.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
She still thinks that.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
But I remember seeing him sing and I was a
little kid, I'm like, that's the guy that's hitting those
high notes. And I remember watching him sing thinking like,
why does it look like he's not really singing? Why
is it so effortless? How does he hit those notes
without any sort of strain or vein? In his neck.
How was he hitting these high falsetto notes so effortlessly?
I remember thinking that as a little kid, like, how's
(15:27):
his voice so buttery and smooth like Danny G's. And
you know, that's what we saw last night. It looked effortless.
That dude was just teeing off. It was cool to see, man.
It was a lot of fun. And it proves too
you don't have to take monster hacks like Mike Piazza
rich It's how you hit the ball. It's where you
hit the ball, It's where you connect. It's getting in
front of the ball and hitting it on the sweet spot.
(15:48):
He was hitting it a barrel every time, basically the
things you teach a little kid if you coach a
little league or pony ball. And obviously he's strong, but
it's not how hard you swing, man, that's all. It's
all in the mechanics. And his swing is pretty pretty sweet.
In fact, Schwarber, if you look at his swing, I'm
fascinated by Schwarber swing because he's all bottom half, Like
that guy's got a thunder ass and thighs and when
(16:11):
he swings about thunder ass, huh, he's got He's got
a thunder he can on thunder ass. I was talking
to my mom on the way and he's like, well,
isn't it weird what happened to the Big Dumper? And
I'm like, yeah, not this year, mom, But you know what,
Schwarber is similar to the Big Dumper in that he
if you're a baseball guy, he's all hips and a
(16:32):
lower center, lower lower center, gravity ass hips, legs like
because even when he I'm not saying he lunges, but
when you look at Schwarber swing, he almost has that
like he does lean a little right, like you'll see
him go go to his knee once in a while.
Sweeter ass. Stop it Kyle Schwarber or Vita Guera in
the early two thousands. It's a great question because she's
(16:53):
she kind of revolutionized it. Oh wow, he has to
think about it. So you know what then, because maybe
you say, your girlfriend says, maybe Schwarber doesn't win after all,
according to Rich but it was fun to see your thoughts.
I thought netflix, By the way, I'm not one of
those dudes. And it baffles me how everyone has such
(17:15):
an opinion nowadays. As I said last week, opinions are
like podcasts. Everybody has one, and most of them think
everybody has like they lead with negativity before they even
think about the positive. It was a magical night for
Jordan Walker, and you know, yet you got to lean
into Like I hated the coverage, but Danny g you
said you lost the stream though a few times. Yeah,
(17:37):
he was here at Fox Sports Radio where we lose
our Yeah, we have go go wireless, Like this is
the worst internet in the history of broadcast facilities.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
So I didn't say that. I usually don't have but
I can't hear you, but maybe it did freeze on
me three times during the broadcast.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Okay, Now, if it's something like that, I understand, because
that's frustrating. But you know, everybody has some weird, random
complaint about everything you name it.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
They complain why some people didn't like Will ferrell broadcast,
Get out of my.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Face, like anywhere, Like you're funnier than Will fare Will
Ferrell on his most miserable day is funnier than ninety
percent of people criticizing him.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
One thing I did like, for for a moment, didn't
feel like Michael Buffer didn't know where he was.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
Oh he probably did.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Great. I love him. He's at school.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Yeah, the Buffer, We've had him on the show and
he froze for.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
A second and he's like easy that. He repeated it again.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
It really had to be a surreal moment, just because
they're big league players. Do you think do you think
Kyle Schwarber and Jordan Walker ever thought they get? Michael
Buffer intros in. I'm sorry I'm always saying this because
I was taking close note of that and both seemed
really awesome. They did Ben Rice because he's such a
(18:54):
goofy looking young guy. He looked like he was in
awe of the entire moment, but especially that moment, because
I was like, what a bucket list dream item to
have Michael Buffer. Michael Buffer's saying we've met it to
the finals. Jordan yes, on, like that's so cool.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Yeah, they showed sharps for a second and his jaw
literally was hanging down a little bit, and that.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Should put a tingle in your baseball danger. Did you
see Michael Buffer and Jordan Walker got mixed up a
Lah Covino and Sean Merriman. Oh no, id fist pump
handshake mix up? Well no, but but he was honestly,
how can you not as a young player be pumped
up for that moment. No, I loved it. And you
(19:35):
already mentioned his dad was there, and they kept showing
his mom and dad and they looked like real confident,
like they had the entire stadium booing against that dude,
and they were still there rooting on their son as
they should, but they looked, you know, in the moment.
And I love what the dad said at the end too,
when they said something about oh, he was like, man,
I'm so proud of my son.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
You know.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
He was calm and cool like his daddy or something
like that he said. And it was just great to see.
And it proves to be one, once again, one of
the greatest sporting events in our lifetime. If you ever,
if you ever have the ability or the chance to
go to home Run Derby, we highly suggested I was
thinking about it. We was talking about chance other than
(20:14):
like the game. It's a game, the Derby itself. If
I had Derby tickets and All Star Game tickets, I
raally go the Derby same. That's my point. So don't
sleep on the Derby. It's so much fun. Let me
let me just tell you by The proof is in
this little pudding I broke. Now the proof is in
the pudding. We've been to home run Derby's and All
Star Games, and I could tell you with one hundred
(20:37):
certainty and confidence that I've had so much more fun
at Home Run Derby's than the actual All Star game.
The actual All Star game, you know what, the most
fun part is the intros and watching all the superstars
come out one at a time and if the crowd
booze or cheers, and you get to see everybody, so
you get to see your guy where he fits in
the lineup, right, like as a Mets fan who Deslindor
or Soto or you know, whatever year it is. But
(21:00):
after the team's back through the lineup once, it's.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
Just a game, you sort of like, except for last
year with the swing off, you guys, miss that was exceptional.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
We left, We left early, that was exceptional. Yeah right,
Oh my god, I forgot we left now.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
In your defense, you guys were both there early doing
interviews and down at the batting cages and all that,
and I'll never forget. It was like the fourth Yeah,
you're right, and Rich had like some some food and
concession tickets. Why did and he gave them to me
because you said, I'm beat, I'm tired of a bunch
of weed. I know rich Rich gave me the tickets
and he's like, are you going to stay? I'm like, yep,
I'm staying.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
I had free drinking food tickets. I'm like, what a
bunch of weeks. It wasn't tied. And we left. We said,
we said hello to everyone we want to see. We
were there since the afternoon interviewing, and you got to
meet Aaron Judge and he was there, and and we
saw the big dumper when he was we were different practice.
So yeah, we were there all day. But still looking back.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
Came down to that swing off in the next morning.
We were live from those studios there in Atlanta. Remember
I do, and you guys were probably doing it.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
We should have stayed. My only complaint this year was
that we weren't there. I feel like the home run
derby without us bushwhacking in the outfield because we've done
it for years. Uh isn't the same. But it was
still a fun, fun night, And congrats again to Jordan
Walker your thoughts. My son had two of his little
buddies over and they they were sort of pumped about
seeing big leaguer's tee off is so excited, non stop action.
(22:30):
We have Henry Winkler, the Fonds, Arthur Fonzarelli, stop him
by and maybe we'll keep them longer for some over

kids don't make too much of a mess. Yeah, are

Winkler can just snap hey, so join us there. Fox

grandfather was from Spain, right, Yeah, they used to call
you the metadois that's true? Hey, susipicos a Pico's the
(24:06):
Spanish name. And I think I'll just own that now.
I'll just run, you know, front run. So speaking of guests, yeah,
KFC over promised. Look it up. It's on our YouTube page. Yeah,
it was fun KFC at barstool. He just posted something.
I got to give the proper credit. Marty mush mush
And I'm trying to see here. Ben's Cline, Ben Klein.
(24:28):
Ben Klein. We're at the All Star game yesterday at
the home run derby. I should say, and they we're
doing some coverage and they caught up with Schwarbie, who
almost won started sorry Philly. They started talking about Philly
cheese steaks, and it posed an interesting question. We just
want to throw it out there because there seems to
be like controversy around it, and I'm pretty strong in
(24:50):
my opinion. I want to know what you think, Rich,
What are your thoughts about the Philly cheese steak as
we enjoy the All Star Game from Philly tonight. Yeah,
take a listen, cameraman, we got cheesesteaks today. The extra
catchup is that terrible?
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Or no ketchup on it?
Speaker 1 (25:05):
Yeah? That's terrible, terrible, the extra ketchup you can't have it,
that's what. That's horrible. That's horrible. I actually thought like
we should should fire him. To be honest, I have
to catch the fireball of fens, especially in Philly, exactly Angel.
Everybody's ganging up on this dude, and it sounds like
gas lighting to me, as as the kiddos say. So
(25:26):
the question is the guy was like, yeah, my cameraman
got ketch up on his Philly cheese steak, and Schwarber
was like, that's horrible. I mean, and this guy knows
his cheese steaks. He's out there in Philly and all
the Philly steaks you could eat. Rich, thanks, I'm gonna
turn it to you first, man, is this a crime
or not? I hate when people abuse Dippings Poppins, and
(25:52):
I love some fick things thick like Kenny Powers. I love.
Do you think fick? Then like Stevian he's pouting down
thick thing. Nothing bothers me more when people unnecessarily dip
a nice steak in some unnecessary sauce. However, you might
not believe what I'm gonna say. Oh boy, And by
(26:15):
the way, can I also give you some credit? In
some circles they call rich get this advance a pilate.
That's like his very advanced palate. That's his Uh what
would you call that your scientific name? Yes, exactly, of course,
Advance a pilate, not just any human. He's a guy
with an advanced palette. Well, I don't have only chicken
nuggets like you. But no, but I will say a
(26:36):
Philly cheese steak. I am always under the assumption that
you could put a little ketchup on that. Bad boy.
I think you get the you get the the shaved Rabbi,
you get the American, the white American cheese, peppers onions,
and I see there's no crime in a little.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
A little on the plate, maybe with the fries a little, because.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
It's the same. When you really think about it, it's
not much different than the elements of a cheeseburger. It's
just a cheeseburger's ground and padded cheese. Steak is just
you know, your shredding Ribbi. I'm a firm believer of
mind your own business because I'm the one eating it. Like,
if I want pineapples on my pizza, beat it. If
(27:20):
I want ranch on my pizza, I don't do that.
But it's none of your business, right, So I did
that when you were introduced to Topper's Pizza, which is
the worst pizza. You're this guy. He thinks he's advancing
now as a guy who's not, I'm not. I'm not
as advanced as Rich Davis when it comes to.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
The pal said that after seven slices.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
I know, right, Toper Pizza, take it away. I love it,
I do.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
I love it so good.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
I love pomps, love I love ranch, I love all
that pig good pizza. Doesn't need toppings. That's the thing
when rich and I mine your business, don't tell me, yeah,
how to enjoy whatever he enjoys, how to enjoy whatever
I want to eat. So based on that alone, if
you want to put ketchup on your cheesneake, go right ahead.
(28:06):
I don't care what Schwarber thanks or the other Gabbroni
from barstool ketch up. If you and I agree riches fact,
it's acceptable, especially on a Philly cheese steak. I almost
rather Danny Well. I disagree with you completely on that
pizza conversation, but that's for another day. As cheese steaks go,
maybe you don't slather the ketchup all over the cheese
steaks just a little bit. But if it's on your
(28:28):
plate and you're dipping some fries an occasional tiny little
dip in the sandwich, just a little, I think that
this is like a toe in the water. Yeah, over
the flavor profiles of the peppers, onions, cheese meat. I
feel like it might miss a little of that tangy
ket Yeah, yeah, I know the kron You're you're a
(28:50):
man of the world. He's shaking his head. Bro I
feel like he's disgusted with I'll tell you what the
then the crown would be disgusted. When Cavino goes to
a place like Mastros or Del Friscos, he tells him
to butterfly his steak well done, and like, butterflies, leave
me alone. That's not the that's not the issue. That's
the well done. Okay, let's hear from you then, Kron,
(29:11):
and then give us your snazzy update. While you're at it.
What are your thoughts on it?
Speaker 3 (29:16):
Well channeling? Channeling you guys, look and like I said,
it's not a big deal to me.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
To each his own.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
But what I've always what I've I'm big on proble,
what I've always felt was overrated ketchup, but also on
steaks a one. I'd always go to a steakhouse and
ask for a one. I'd be like, okay, great, I'll
try it with a one. And I'm like, maybe I'm
not eating it right or something.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Are you a Worcester sauce?
Speaker 3 (29:46):
Oh yeah, No, Worcester is different than a one. Worcester
is great as like a marinade or various things.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
If you're going to patch Gino's any of these big
spots in Philly.
Speaker 5 (29:57):
I was just in Philly and I had a cheese
stick without ketchupuris Do some of these.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
Places actually even have ketchup on hand?
Speaker 4 (30:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (30:07):
For free fries?
Speaker 1 (30:08):
Yea, we should even have catch it with fries. You
should have, man, You know what though, it's kind of
the more you know, who knew this was frowned upon
in Philly? I did not, But the crown give us
some better news updates man.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Well better depending on what the sport is. Because The
Athletic reported today that the NBA's investigation into whether the
Los Angeles Clippers circumvented the salary cap to funnel extra
money to Kawhi Leonard has expanded in scope. Investigation has
now looked into whether the Clippers improperly covered expenses for
(30:42):
Leonard but were not reimbursed for them, and has also
examined if Leonard had a previously unreported endorsement deal with
another company. Say upgrade your FIFA World Cup twenty twenty six.

(31:28):
Finally Comedo en Rich In college football, The Wall Street
Journal reported today that an investigation by a law firm
commissioned by Michigan revealed that their athletic department had concerns
about former head coach Sharon Moore's conduct long before he
was fired in December of twenty twenty five for having
a relationship with his executive assistant that violated university policy.
(31:51):
In August of twenty twenty four, athletic director Ward Manual
told Moore that the executive assistant could not a company
More on trips. Michigan had also been aware of online
interactions between More and the wife of a donor who
had posted provocative photos on her Instagram account.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
Back to you guys, wowser boy, oh boy, hey, thank you,
And as we're reading the feedback on the more important subject,
of cheese steaks. Kay, yeah, Kay, Raine says his family's
from Philly, and you'd one thousand percent get roasted if
you went and put ketchup on their cheese steak over there.
We all have been to Philly and have had a
cheese steak and I don't remember having ketchup on it,
because I feel like here's the caveat. If you say
(32:37):
wiz wit, that means you want the cheese wits. They're
saying cheese whiz no ketchup. But if you get a
cheese steak with provolown or melted American, then you're allowed
perhaps ketch How did you eat your dad's steakums growing up?
Look what I just wrote down on my pitch. I
think we're also confusing a good Philly cheeseteak with like
your dad's weakest steakums he made when like mom wasn't
(32:58):
home steak. Thems at Nacom's.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Ketchup Backgunner seventeen seventy one on YouTube says Rich adds
caffeine to his cheese steak.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Yes, everything I add, All right, Well, hy we got
more covine on wretch. We'll take your feedback on that.
We'll talk some Zach Wheeler speaking of Philly. Hey, it's Ben,
host of The Fifth Hour with Ben Maller. Would mean
a lot to have you join us on our weekly
auditory journey. You're asking, what in God's name is the
Fifth Hour. I'll tell you it's a spin off of
that Ben Matherer show, a Colt hit overnights on FSR.

Speaker 2 (33:36):

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Listen to The Fifth Hour with Ben Maller on the
iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Jordan Walker was smooth like that home run derby champion.
He was cool like that. He's cool like that put
(34:01):
his stamp on the league yesterday. If you did not
know Jordan Walker, guess what you know today Jordan Walker.
And we also learned that you can't put ketchup on
a Philly cheese steak. Well, see, I'm sacrilegious, but I
say I don't give a I don't give a cheese whiz.
Yeah whatever, I'm still doing it. Just doing the privacy
of your own home behind closed doors if it's doing
(34:22):
shame while no one's looking. You know, I know you
love to check what the Internet says. What they're saying
is if the classic Philly cheese steak wiz Wit has
the cheese, whiz ketchup, hot sauce and may are typically
kept on the side. However, if it's Provolone or American cheese,
(34:42):
might be acceptable to put a little ketchup on there.
All right, Well, there's a controversy going on. Not a
cheese steaks being eaten tonight All Star Game Tuesday in Philly.
But now it's time for our tire rack play of
the day. Speaking up, did the Philly fans really boo
a volunteer kid who missed the catch at the home run? Yes?
I thought it was great.
Speaker 6 (35:02):
Stay in short compacts, trying to keep his hands above
the ball, really really good.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
I think that's the first time he kind of like
it was just labor. It wasn't so much overswungk.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
He was just a little bit late, but he's keeping
the barrel above the ball.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
He's doing he's calm. What I loved about it was
it was because the kid did your typical little league
where they their first step was in so they like
and they're like, oh, deserve to be booed if you're
catching pop ups and a home run derby. This kid
that was courtesy of Netflix. Where we all forgot to
(35:36):
go yesterday, at least I forgot to go. I'm like,
where is the derby? You know there's websites that'll tell
you where teas are played. I went to the app
it said Fox or maybe I was looking tomorrow. You're
looking at the game tonight. I called Richie. Saved the day.
As much as I want to move on and talk
about something else, I can't. I can't stop, can't stop,
(35:57):
won't stop. We talked about cheese whizz and ketchup on
a cheese steak. Yeah, and nobody knows I'm cheese more
than rich I love cheese whiz, by the way. I
grew up with that stuff. My grandma would put it
on eggs. He was like, my favorite thing.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
Ever.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
Do you know you remind me of another hot take
I have? I'm hot Take food boy today. Nothing bothers
me more when you go to a restaurant or a bar,
especially when you go to a bar or a pub
and on their menu it says nachos. I want melted cheese.
If the nachos come out with whiz, I'm like, no, no,
(36:30):
that should have been advertised. That's at a ball game.
That's a guy that's at Dodger Stadium, that's at seven eleven.
If I'm gonna ball, If I'm in a pub where
it's like eighteen dollars nachos, I don't want it's.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Powdered cheese, naos. Put both rich.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
You need real melted cheese.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
Cup of.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
Melted cheese is on nachos. If you're a if you're
a ball game or seven eleven, that's when you get
the But nowhere else you gotta know your ole man.
I'm not going to you rich when it comes to cheese.
Tell you I live here in LA. But I'll take
his word for it. Nothing bothers me more about people
out here on the West Coast and my wife who's
from Texas. I'm just gonna end it with, forget the cheeseteaks,
(37:13):
forget this. Why would I ever debate the hot take
food boy, as he called himself, I'm gonna regret that,
aren't I tell you more? Hot take food boy. If
if you if you dip your pizza and Ranch you're
good problem, nothing wrong with that. There is something wrong
with that.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Respect profile is off the hook, just the same.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
Way Philly is real snobby about like you don't put
ketchup on it. That is how New Yorkers view their pizza.
That is fact right, it's their snobby about it. We're
number one. It doesn't need those toppings. But I'm a
firm believer of like you eat whatever you enjoy, so
I'll judge you completely. No Ranch on pizza the end.
(38:03):
I'm gonna say it again tomorrow on our Patreon, which
is just an extended version of what we do here uncensored.

our new and improved studio, and it's Henry Winkler the Fonds.
I mean, how do you not love a legend like that?
So maybe check us out at Patreon dot com, slash
Cavino on Rich Monday through Thursday Patreon dot com Slash
Covino and Rich.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
Do you guys have a parking space for his hog?
Speaker 1 (38:27):
I'm sorry, what leave his hog out of this conversation?
Danny g oh, it's a family show. Oh oh yeah?
Speaker 4 (38:33):
No.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
Two quick notes Number one. I said, next weekend or
maybe maybe the next week or so, we should all
get together, have a little hang, little barbecue, little grilling.
I have the flat top, but I've made the cheese
steaks before. If we did cheese steaks, you have the
limited edition? How we long? Or no? What do you got?
Speaker 4 (38:50):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (38:50):
No, no, not that flat top? Oh like I'm hibachi boy,
practice of my tricks. If I did make cheese steaks,
would your instinct be to put ketchup on it? That's
your answer right there. Then if I said, Sam, here's
a cheese steak onions, peppers, sliced ribbi and cheese, what
would you say, where's the ketchup?
Speaker 2 (39:07):
Mmm?
Speaker 1 (39:08):
I don't think so here out of respect, all right,
here's how I would really handle this. Yeah, if I'm
at Gino's having all the Philly sticks you could eat,
I'm doing it boys to men's style Motown Philly, and
I'm there, having one of those local legendary spots, and
they tell me, ah, man, you know this is how
we do it. This we do do it now. That's
(39:28):
my tell Georgian. And by the way, how we do
it was in my homeroom. Do it do it? He
was here. He was like, here, President, how we do it?
Good guy? But if this is how we do it,
I'm gonna try it the way it was meant to be,
taste out of respect and just to give it the
full experience. But then I'm gonna do whatever I want
ketch up. So if I'm at your house and you're
(39:49):
grilling up cheese steaks because we're talking Philly the All
Star Game tonight, I'm putting ketchup on it. I'm doing
whatever I want, And I don't care who's looking at me.
You know who's got the problem. The person just that's
the person with the problem. Let me ask you another,
Let me ask you one more food and then then
a Derek Jeter thought, before a big poppy comes here,
East Coast chicken cutlets. He put in ketchup on cutlets. No,
(40:12):
I put barbecue sauce on cutlets. So you put something
on a cup sometimes not all the time, but I
mean there's no crime in it. That's how you like it.
Derek Jeter, I saw this. I thought you would find
this interesting. Just a quick note before we move on,
Derek Jeter, the subject always comes up. Will he play
ever in a Yankees old Timer's Day, and he's adamant
(40:34):
that unless they rebranded. First of all, he's like we guys,
he has his major problem with them calling it old timers.
You're not gonna find Derek Jeter at old timer's game. Well,
how do you feel about that? Do you want to
be called an old timer?
Speaker 2 (40:46):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (40:47):
So he's like, old Timer's that's got to be rebranded.
Someone called me an old timer.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
I want to cry.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
And I was watching the clip before we went back on. Yeah,
look at you old timers. He was on Fox five
in New York, remember over Rosanna Scato and all those
broadcasters we grew up with. Yeah, hell yeah. He was
talking about how selfishly the last time he wore the pinstripes,
he went out with a nice game, that was a
great ending, and he might want to just leave it there.
(41:13):
I totally understand that, thinking, you know, that's how I
approach things in life, like, yeah, you leave on a
good foot, leave well enough alone, Stop trying to stop
trying to recapture that glory, like you want to just
leave a great and lasting image with something. That's what's
unfortunate about the Connor McGregor thing. You never want to
leave people with that weak ass lasting image. And that's
(41:34):
why I agree with Derek Jeter completely. But when you
say like things like that, the greatest ending if you're
not a professional athlete. So when you say leave things
like that behind, I say I understand that. Thinking I'm
not saying I'm Derek Jeter. I'm saying like, uh, Kamina
doesn't play Rex sports because he's like, I left that behind.
I don't like softball to me, that's for weenie's. I mean, golf,
(41:56):
basketball league's anything. You've never played an organized enough for that.
At least, I don't feel it. I don't feel it,
but I'm gonna get there. I'll get there. On the
golf course, pick a ball boy. I'm not good at it.
I don't like anything I'm not good at. Oh, there
you go. Now we're getting at least. But I could
be how I meant to be good at golf. I
don't golf. It takes prick. You play ping pong, table tennis. Yeah,
and I beat Rich last time. Let's hear him talk
about that. I beat you two out of three air
(42:18):
you did not. I did not beat you two at
a three. You did at my parents anniversary. You lost,
buddy boy. Look at this guy lying. I think games
game one. I think game three was twenty two one. Nothing, nothing, nothing.
We went to the I'm sorry nil nil again, Naa,
you did not beat me in ping pong at my parents' house.
I think it went to game three and I he's lying,
(42:42):
we have no ceh. Well, no, he it was I
won the first game. He won the sad game. I
I won the rubber. But the third game was like
best to you to twenty one twenty like it was
like a barn burner something.
Speaker 2 (42:53):
We all did a golf simulator at our live broadcast
in Nashville. You both looked like you were swinging baseball.
Speaker 1 (42:58):
But horrible. I'm horrible. This guy, yeah, he's not happy.
I'm happy Gilmore. This guy's uh, this guy is crappy Gilmore.
Your shorts look like happy Gilmore. Crappy Gilmore. Well, by
the way, speaking of all the stuff together, are you
guys watching Are you gonna watch the new Will Ferrell
golf show that debuts on Netflix. I'm sure he's promoting
the hell out of it everywhere, right, Yeah, I'll check
(43:19):
it out. It's on Netflix, I'll tell you, right, now
it's uh, it looks very happy, Guilbery. I'm watching Little
House on the Prairie and loving it. I think I
should make.
Speaker 2 (43:29):
Time for that. I'm glad you transitioned to that because
we were going to talk live action films for a moment.
Speaker 1 (43:34):
The Hawk is it's called the Hawk Hawk. Let's get
all that ten episode scripted Netflix show about golf, and
it's The Hawk with Wilfowl that debuts Thursday.
Speaker 2 (43:45):
There was an article on Awful Announcing yesterday. In the
headline said, is sports the real blockbuster of the summer
for twenty twenty six?
Speaker 1 (43:54):
Well, between the World Cup and the NBA Finals and
the Nicks and everything, they bruh, listen Toy Story five.
Other than that, I don't you know, remember he Man fizzled,
this closure Day fizzled, Minions didn't really do as well.
I'm gonna see that means Monsters less. Michael was Michael,
(44:18):
Michael did good and Toy Story five Michael did huge
numbers worldwide, right, so that you know worldwide people love
Michael Jackson. But yeah, Sports killing it the greatest reality
show of all time and after Love Island Sports, the
story today is sports. This whole Maui Maui thing, Mowana
(44:39):
thing where live action is done is getting highly criticized.
People have a problem with the rock, and people have
a problem. Like I said, everybody's a critical kind of
a problem with the Rock. I think people his portrayal
of Maui and the whole film. He is Maui. I
mean he's Maui. His hair that people have been criticizing,
the hair he's wearing. Yeah, the body suit, I mean
(45:01):
everybody has a problem with that.
Speaker 2 (45:02):
His old face doesn't match the body. There's just some
a little bit of weirdness to it. Where last week
he started getting piled on by critics, but it doesn't
match with the audience that's actually going to see now.
Not that many people, as we mentioned, have gone. It
only made forty three million dollars domestically expected sixty days.
Oh do they spend They spent two hundred and fifty
(45:22):
million dollars making it, so they're not going to make
their money back. But this is what's crazy. The critics
review on Rotten Tomatoes a thirty percent, the audience review
a ninety one percent.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
I wonder if we we we sorry France bed Day today.
I wonder if we are done with live action, Danny,
I find the think it's one of the worst entertainment
trends in recent history. I do. I think. I think
we saw a success and I actually enjoyed it. Of
Beauty and Beast, Beauty and the Beast, Beauty and Beast.
(45:55):
I call it Beauty and Beast, Beauty and the Beast.
We saw how well it did, we actually enjoyed it
that everyone just jumped on that train and thought we'd
be fooled into loving all of them. I most think you,
Danny and I all said the same thing. Beauty and
the Beast live action was actually really well done. And
since then that week ass Little Mermaid one. If you
(46:15):
took your kids to go see the Lion King one
with white talking Pinocchio and then white, they couldn't get
out of their own way. It's snow white. They were
doing all the political and never had a shot like
they might be great. I don't know, so I mean
to me, other than that Beauty and the Beast one,
if you got little kids or not, even are you
down with any of these live actions?
Speaker 6 (46:34):
Like?
Speaker 1 (46:35):
I don't know why they keep doing it. I guess
research shows like keep making them but I don't know,
it's one of the worst entertainment trends. I don't like reboots.
I don't like all these live action things. I really
don't Beauty and the Beast. I'm sorry, Beauty and Beast
when I really really enjoyed. So we posed this question
to you Fox Sports Radio Nation based on all the
criticism of the current live action movie Mowana. Is it
(47:01):
one of the worst or is there another entertainment trend
that you just despise that's a good one live I
don't mind the reboots. I feel like it gives new
life because you know what, it hits nostalgia with the
generation and then like for instance, Yeah, but there's always
controversy because they change characters. And I'll give you an example.
(47:22):
I wasn't the biggest bay Watch fan. I just like
hot girls, so I was like, oh, look there's the
Coole Egart and Pam Anderson. Oh Hasselhoff's cool. When they're
rebooting bay Watch with Libby Dunn and Brooks Nader and
these hotties and probably some Stutley dudes. I don't have
anything against that. I get the idea it worked once,
replace it with new hot people and you know what,
(47:43):
I get it, Danny, when people say, well, no, people
come up with original ideas. You know why, because it's
very easy to sell an idea that already succeeded.
Speaker 2 (47:51):
Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. We didn't even
mention the stinker that was Mufasa, Oh my god. And
Stitch Rember.
Speaker 1 (47:58):
Oh you know what the worst one was because Mike
kids are obsessed with toy story. Remember they tried to
do light Year. There's some weird like the story of Buzzling.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
I'm reading here that Disney is Disney is starting to
cancel some of the ideas they had on live action,
but they still are developing Tangled from twenty ten.
Speaker 1 (48:19):
Stitchumbo Dumbo flopped too pun intended. They had a Dumbo
live action, Remember you forgot that's how many times they
went to this.
Speaker 2 (48:28):
Well it's like karate kid, you couldn't leave well enough alone.
Speaker 1 (48:32):
Good for real. They went so far with this so
many times that people are done with it. And you know,
if you could think of any other entertainment trends that
just drive you bonkers, let us know. At eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox, I don't I don't mind
the I don't mind the reboots and the reinventions and
the revamps and all that. To be honest, I think
some of them were like my wife was enjoying the
(48:54):
new Scrubs, how they sort of rebooted Scrubs, same caste,
But it's not I thought, like you would say, when
it's the same just a I get it's a reboop.
It's like a continuation. Like you and I both said
that when Fuller House debuted. We both for a minute,
We're like, yeah, it's entertaining, it's likable, you know, like
rest in Peace, bop Saget like it there was. There
are reasons why people bring it back. But when people say,
(49:16):
I don't get why there's new original ideas because if
something worked before, it'll work again.
Speaker 5 (49:20):
Likely there are, But there are original ideas, Like I think,
we just have so many movies and so many shows
and so many creations out there that like some of
the original ideas like uh, like a obsession or back
rooms like those are pretty original and they have gotten
a lot of attention. But yeah, the very commercialized reboots
and stuff, those are going to get a lot of
attention from people.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
The trend that I'm disappointed in It's like the opposite
of a trend. It's like the fact that they don't
make fun, runchy comedies anymore. Well, then watch the John
Cena One Little Brother with Eric Andre. That was as
raunchy and comedic as it gets. That's on Netflix. I
heard nothing fun about that, even though I like both
(50:02):
guys really really good. I like both dudes, but I
didn't really hear much buzz about it. But I'm glad
to hear that it was fun in raunchy. I need
some of that. I mean in my comedy. I mean
some raunch dressing. Some raunch dressing in my comedy. I'll
tell you this, I mean one hold on, I just
want to make guess. You can't tell me you're against
the John Cena Eric Andre raunchy comedy, but you're watching
Little House in the Prairie. Well, you know, I have
(50:24):
a personal vendetta against that movie. I feel like they
stole one of my ideas. I had that similar idea
that John Cena did in his movie. And I know
I'm a big time producer, I get it. We're here
to say that live action is done in my stick
a fork in it, and are the other trends that
you're not a fan of. Let us know Covino Enrich
and of course we're chatting it live at Covino and
(50:45):
Rich FSR on YouTube. Well, coming up, we have big
poppy trivia and not only do have big poppy trivia.
Zach Wheeler an interesting angle he's taken on an invitation
to the All Star Game. By the way, most of
the feedback Rich is that it's the same sentiment Hollywood's
officially out of ideas. But that's not true. Though there's
more ideas than ever before. It's just they're not executed.
(51:07):
That's the dumbest sentiment of all time. Hollywood's rich and
everybody's dumb. Everybody, I agree, but that everyone is dumb.
You know the movie The Long Walk that came out
of tell me everyone's out of ideas. Look on social
media every day there's like stupid, clever little things where
ideas but safe ideas are not selling tickets anymore. But
you can't tell me people are out of ideas more
(51:28):
so than ever. I'm sure there's all these scripts just
sitting around. They're just not being given the gamble to
go with. The people are like, but the sentiment that
Hollywood's out of ideas is the silliest thing I've ever heard.
There's more ideas than ever. It's just no one's willing
to take the financial risk on that idea because actually
because that happens to be fat. But it does feel
(51:49):
that like Street, Like there's a million streamers and theaters
and everyone. All these studios are so skeptical. Iosm to
spend their money on a project. Who's behind it, an influencer,
a real act. They were like, what producer. There's so
much to lose. There's more ideas than every four. So
when people say Hollywood's out of ideas, I'm like, no,
they just made it. For instance, the Baywatch. You know
(52:09):
why they're making another bay Watch because they know because
there was familiarity, they know easier sound. No matter how
bad it is, it'll work enough.
Speaker 5 (52:18):
And there's still books out there that like The Long
Walk was written in nineteen seventy nine by Stephen King.
Speaker 1 (52:23):
It was just made into a movie a few years ago. Yeah,
but here it's really good. I was sick of it.
People are sick of it. So the whole Mowana Rock
thing is getting lots of criticism, all right, So big Poppy.
I saw him in the lobby and he has some
baseball trivia for you guys.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
He's a one time home run Derby chair.
Speaker 1 (52:41):
He's a Derby champ and he's here to give away prizes.
And if you want to see what these prizes are,
it's in our ig story at Coveno and Rich and
Danny G posted right now too. Oh look at Danny
G with the apron on. You can see it. It's
the CNR on FSR grilling Apron your summer prize pack
of the summer with some koozies and mini footballs and more.
(53:01):
Your chance to win. It's all multiple choice hosted by
Big Poppy. We'll do some baseball trivia and more. Next
call now at eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox
Your Chance to Win eight seven seven ninety nine on
(53:21):
Fox Now. As Big Poppy gets ready and he goes
over all the questions, Dannyg's getting contestants ready. Let's set
up this discussion ritch about Zach Wheeler tonight because it
is All Star Tuesday again. Congrats to Jordan Walker at
the Derby last night. That was awesome. We talked about
that first hour. Zack Wheeler was asked to be in
the All Star Game tonight, and he turned it down
(53:44):
because you mean ten and one unhittable Zach Wheeler the
ten and one two point one three era more impressive.
His whip whip impressive, Philly, Zach Wheeler was not originally
named an All Star. You know what his whip is?
Tell me about by the way, which I think is
my favorite baseball stat. You know, there's all these stats
that you're like, I don't even how do they calculate
(54:04):
obs or OPB. Whip is simple walks and hits per inning,
and Zach Wheeler is at a point eight something to
the point where we're talking about he is letting significantly
less than one run around basin inning. This guy's ten
and one. Of course he's awesome because when the Mets
had to choose who they wanted, Matt Harvey, noh sendegarda Wheeler,
(54:24):
They're like, oh, le Wheeler, guys, it makes sense that
he's awesome. So Zach Wheeler is a star for Philly.
The game's in Philly. I'm sorry, would you say he's
a star?
Speaker 2 (54:35):
Right?
Speaker 1 (54:35):
So does being selected as an afterthought stars make him
any more of a star? Think about that? Because What
happened was at ten and one with a two point
one to three and the games in Philadelphia, he wasn't
voted in. No one voted this guy into the All
Star Game. And then as players drop out and then
(54:57):
you aren't gonna make it. They gave him the courtesy
invite and he said no. And this is where I say,
good friend, screw them. This is where I say he's
already a star. He just said it that. This is
where I say the opposite of you. Yeah, you're gonna
hold bite your nose to spite your face. You're gonna
give me that sort of thing. Bite. What is that phrase?
Something about a nose in the spie. I don't know
(55:18):
how it goes.
Speaker 5 (55:19):
Bite your nose to spiderface. Spider face, that's what it is.
That's why Michael Scott though spider spighter face. I think
the same, you and your stupid spider.
Speaker 1 (55:26):
I look at it this way. What do you What
have you taught me? Well?
Speaker 2 (55:29):
Not much?
Speaker 1 (55:29):
Over here is a little bit about rock music.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
That's about it.
Speaker 1 (55:34):
You did teach me, though, that your ego is not
your amigo. It's not about him. It's not about ego
and his ego of like, like the fan the manager
is and whoever was involved didn't invite me to the party.
Now I don't want to invite I said this before, Bro,
I don't play second trumpet. It's first trumpet or not.
And this guy's ten and one. If he's not there,
(55:55):
then why is he going to go there? Because someone
else called out? You want to be someone's second choice?
If you're on Love Island, you want to be the leftovers?
Or do you want to be someone's first choice? You know?
This always reminds me of because we do tied it
into dumb reality shows on Love is Blind, which, by
the way, screw you if you don't think this is
fun to watch because it is the dumbest yet best
reality show. All these people pretend to care about each
(56:17):
other without seeing each other. Yeah, real, real, real life.
There they meet these people in the pods and then
a lot of times something doesn't work out and then
they like somehow end up with a second choice. And
I'm like, but the minute that person finds out there
with the second choice, right, because being an afterthoughts this week,
especially when you're already the man. If you're already the man,
(56:38):
which Zach is you don't need that courtesy invite. Yeah,
but heay, here, take your courtesy invite, and and you
know what you can do with it. I can't say
it on the radio. Stick yes, stick it up your yeah,
stick it up your yeah. But what about the idea
of pitching for himself and the fans and everyone? And
who cares? I think, Okay, if you're gonna say do
it for the fans, then you make a good point there.
(57:00):
He said he's in Philadelphia. You really think, man, he
showed them. Yeah, because maybe you'll spend time with his family.
He shows the thought anytime. It's a code I live by.
If I feel like the afterthought, I'm not going. No
one wants to feel like the afterthought. So if you're
Zach Wheeler and you're already the dude who's ten and one,
(57:21):
you already said he's a star, does he have to go?
If he wasn't even originally selected, think about that. Now
it's time, let's do it, big poppy trivia. Oh, he's
at the door.
Speaker 6 (57:32):
He's here, Iron Mike, Show, Time of homes Shack Deesel
meets your baseball counterpart.
Speaker 4 (57:39):

Speaker 1 (01:00:02):
You want to hear a funny story? No, not a
few tell it? Okay, Okay, that can back in Like
we felt like a lifetime ago. I was with an
ex girlfriend. Anyone ever dates someone that's like a super
animal lover to the point where you like, relax, I
get it. You want to save every animal. I had
an ex that convinced me that there was like a
possum in our neighborhood that looked like it was like, like,
(01:00:24):
so there was wrong with it.
Speaker 4 (01:00:25):
Hey, Denny, g wake me up when this is over. Okay,
I got this to do it. They just starting tonight.
I just talking about Mysupio.
Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
I let this ex girlfriend convince me to let this
possum come in our house for a few days, and
then finally I'm like, we gotta let this possum go.
And a day later it was found dead in front
of our house and she blamed me for following the
possum because we.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
Let it go.
Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
Geezd, Hey, Poppy, wake up.
Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
Yeah, I feel like if you pitch that to Netflix,
pop get left Poppy.
Speaker 3 (01:00:53):
All right, guys, I'm sorry, but There are also apparently
possum trots in Missouri and Texas too.
Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
Oh boy, who knows?
Speaker 2 (01:00:59):
All right? Here are the rules through Big Coffee Trivia.
The first contestant with two correct answers is the champion.
Speaker 1 (01:01:03):
If there's a topy, we have a tiebreaker question.
Speaker 2 (01:01:06):
Your name is your buzzer, but you gotta wait until
all three possible our answers are read before you buzz in.
If you get two wrong ones in a row, we
move on to the next question. Are you ready?
Speaker 4 (01:01:14):
Hey, Betty happened to be Hey, I like the possum story.
I just played Hey, oh my gooney, let go oh
my goonies. Okay, I could be hein Tonight. Tonight is
the night What city has hosted the most MLB All
Star Game?
Speaker 1 (01:01:31):

Speaker 4 (01:01:40):
B New York, Yes, heys right, nine game across Fire Stadium, Chicago.
Speaker 1 (01:01:47):

Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
All right, So Gerald on the board immediately halfway to

Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
Hey, that's Betty, go to general all right, number two
Round two.
Speaker 4 (01:02:00):
I won this in twenty ten, which home run derby
winner is the only player to win the trophy after
being the runner up the year before.
Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
Okay, so they were the runner up and then they
won the next year. That's right, thank you, Poppy A.
Robinson Cano, B. Prince Fielder or C. Todd Fraser Rich
we call him the Todd father Rich Prince Fielder.
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
No, they actually mentioned this on the broadcast last night. Uh, Gerald,
Gerald for the win.
Speaker 4 (01:02:31):
Hey, no, you.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
Todd Frazer.
Speaker 1 (01:02:36):
You know you know what you know how I knew
it wasn't a Robbie can. Robbie Cano won in twenty
eleven and you just said that, Poppy, you beat Helly Reviewes.
That's right, all right, the Todd father Todd Fraser.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
All right, Gerald is the only one on the board though,
is we go to round three?
Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
This is the fun fact that he played in the
Little League World Series. Thought right from New Jersey, New Jersey. Hey,
round three? What was I once quoted saying about improvement? Improvement?
Speaker 4 (01:03:02):
Hey, when you're not good enough as something, you just
have to work harder be I say, pee wee you.
If you get married and stop running around like a hussy,
you improve the junkies and hey, win more titles.
Speaker 2 (01:03:16):
You're talking about jeets.
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
That's right, Jeter, because the Yankee lose or see the
batting coaches helped me. But my real improvement came when
I learned how to relax at the plate.
Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Gerald Gerald for the win.
Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
Hey, he is my money general.
Speaker 4 (01:03:35):
You go with me? Man.
Speaker 1 (01:03:36):
That was the most puppy. That's like really like, hey,
I could be here.
Speaker 2 (01:03:41):
And the first time in network history we have a
winner from Possum Trot Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (01:03:46):
Look at that. Thank you, thank you, Hey, enjoy congrats
Gerald Gerald, you the man?
Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
Thank you?
Speaker 1 (01:03:53):
Oh my goodness of that that's saying what was it?
Clote puppy? That was the most like squeaking.
Speaker 2 (01:03:57):
Easy, that's not it? Poppy Rich has a the end
to that story. Hey, I want to hear more.
Speaker 1 (01:04:02):
About the possum just Katie, No, I don't.
Speaker 4 (01:04:07):
I say when you when you're not good at something,
you just have to work harder or something like that.
Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
Very memorable. That's the insightful quote. That's all right.
Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
It's like something Magic Johnson would.
Speaker 1 (01:04:16):
Say, Hey, I got another quote. It's all good. You're
like that one.
Speaker 4 (01:04:20):
Come on you my dog, you might dog. Hey enjoyed
the game tonight? A star touch puppy, you might dog
see you next week. Thank you, big Poppy. With that said,
let's go to ILove for an update.
Speaker 1 (01:04:34):
Isaac Lowan Krown. What's up? Krown? All right?
Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
Rich. We'll start with the news reported by The Athletic
this afternoon that the NBA's investigation in whether the Los
Angeles Clippers circumvented the salary cap to funnel extra money
to Kawhi Leonard has expanded in scope. Investigation has looked
into whether the Clippers improperly covered expenses for Leonard but
were not reimbursed for them. It has also examined if
(01:04:56):
Leonard had a previously unreported endorsement deal with an additional
company trained to push past the pain. Not athletes, just
people trafficked every day right here in the United States,
sometimes by someone they trusted. During the World Cup, help
us break the silence. Visit Blue campaign dot gov slash
(01:05:17):
World Cup to learn more. Today, Spain advanced to the
World Cup final with a two nail victory over France.
Their first goal came on a twenty second minute penalty
kick on Foxes Spain go on in front. Pedro Poro
then scored an insurance goal in the fifty eighth minute,
(01:05:37):
and guys, here is how that sounded on the radio
in Spain from Antonio Romero on Cadena Sero cescientos. No,
what's cien cien is one hundred in Spanish? Cien Enko
punto cuatro f I am in Madrid, coming on. So
(01:06:12):
Spain advances to a World Cup final for the second
time they wanted back in twenty ten. They'll face the
winner of the other semi final tomorrow at three pm
Eastern from Atlanta between defending champ Argentina and England.
Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
Guys, all yours, we gotta get on. I'm glad you
played it. That sounded fake. I got to re subscribe
Crown to his dual Lingo or Rosetta Stone over there. Yeah,
he did give the old college try. I thought he
did great, but that clip just sounded ridiculous and exciting
all the same.
Speaker 3 (01:06:37):
Oh yeah, all the other countries they insert like wacky
sound effects live there's a broadcast you know what I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
Morse code thing or you know what I learned from
the Kron during the World Cup because the Kron teaches
us a lot. I thought it was a joke that
they will put random dance music Yeah, what a goal
happened in some way some great foreign countries all sudd
in the back round.
Speaker 3 (01:06:58):
Yeah, Columba in particular uses techno music and an echo chamber.
Speaker 1 (01:07:03):
That's amazing, Thank you, Isaac Clone Crown. What else has
opposing Rich that we are gonna have a grilling apron
somewhere in Possum Trout this this summer. That's pretty cool,
Possum Trut. Yeah, we're big out there. I guess you know.
I just found an interesting tie into the Zach Wheeler
story where he didn't get voted into the All Star
(01:07:24):
Game ten and one a two point one three e
ra a whip of zero point eight something like the
guy's been dominant he should have been and then he
does the whole like, nah, I decline because no one
wants the charity invite, but the game, dude, if they
were given away like the Greatest Radio Show of the
Year award, right, and uh the Monsters in the morning
(01:07:47):
couldn't make it. So they're like, well, hey, Rich, why
don't you come. You're gonna be like, yeah, I'm gonna go,
all right. So if they were like, hey, there's a
big client that wants to spend a lot of money
on the Dan Patrick Show, and he doesn't want to
do it. You get you're not gonna be like, we'll
do it. I mean that's a big difference. Why because
you're talking money there. These guys don't need the money,
but I'm saying they don't need the credit. He's already
a star. Zach Wheeler is letting ego get in the
(01:08:08):
way unless he has a story like, yeah, I want
to rest up. You know, I'm for a strong second half,
but the reality is or I can't pitch anyway based
on the timing of the star. Story is I'm gonna
enjoy my All Star break if you didn't think I
was good enough first time around and other people were
going to big time the event, and now I'm getting
your charity invite, No thanks, that's good enough for me.
At the major league Baseball level, I don't think there's
(01:08:28):
anything you could call a charity in. It's an honor
to make it. Like when he said that, like he
was originally all is said and done minus one from
how many times All Stars? Jack Wheeler, do you want
the invite to the wedding or do you want the
invite because someone denied and you were next in line.
(01:08:48):
It doesn't matter either way. It doesn't matter. It means
ego driven, It doesn't. It means like you're a chomp
and you were to like the last on their mind
and you're getting a charity invite and he's better than that.
I advise everyone to know their value, know their worth,
and know that they're better than that. If they're not
part of the original equation, then don't be a part
of it. Beat it. So you think every y, You
think every actor there wasn't your worth. So you think
(01:09:11):
every actor that wasn't thought of for the role, and
then it went to them because someone else passed. They
should not be pleased with, didn't.
Speaker 5 (01:09:17):
I just read Dearly Departed Sam Neil turned down James
Bond opportunity and then when worked out pretty well for
Pierce Brosnan.
Speaker 1 (01:09:24):
Like, you don't think actor like its different about that? Well,
how is that they did?
Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
It was different?
Speaker 1 (01:09:29):
We really want that feels like an opportunity for someone else.
We really wanted to feel like an opportunity. This feels
like an afterthought. Well, we really wanted Tom Hanks. We
couldn't get them, could you will?
Speaker 4 (01:09:39):
Be?
Speaker 3 (01:09:39):
Like?
Speaker 1 (01:09:39):
Unwont the role we wanted Tom, I'll tell you why.
Because no one wants to feel like they're the second choice.
No one wants to feel like they're the afterthought. You
don't think, And I think that's a a great way
to live life. Like, hey, if you didn't think I
was good enough to begin with, it's not. Here's the difference.
It's not like they didn't think that actor wasn't good enough.
(01:09:59):
They just had their eye on someone else. They No
one voted this guy in. So if I you know,
to vote for pitchers, and we all know the votes
for pitchers is not fan based like the other things.
It's more it's more really based on the staff. Right,
So hey, listen, Zach Wheeler, I think you should pitch.
But I was gonna say I do like the thought though,
rich of like it's in fillide for the fans. So
(01:10:21):
when he's when he's an old man who retired, you
think he's like, I'm really glad I stuck to my gun,
Like do it for your kids if they're at a
certain age, like so they could see dad at that said,
I don't know his I don't know his personal situation there,
but I'll say this, I don't blame him for saying, nah,
beat it on a similar like, oh, well you don't
like me, then I'm am I gonna deliver or not.
Tom Brady, as we know, always played with a chip
on his shoulder, right. Some people say that's motivating. Some
(01:10:43):
people it's like, don't let your ego and stuff get
in the way. Did you see the latest story Danny
g Let's jut this down. We'll kick it more tomorrow
on this topic. But Lamar Jackson last year was rated
by the players in the NFL, by his fellow teammates
and across the league as the number two best player
in football. He slipped from number two to number sixty
(01:11:05):
nine this year. Now, I even heard Brandon one of
our fun editors, nice young kid who Brandon goes yo.
If that's not motivation for Lamar Jackson and a new
head coach in Baltimore to be like, if all this noise,
we're gonna We're gonna be the one seed. Yeah. But
Zach Wheeler takes that motivation and brings it back to
the Phillies when the season, when the second half starts.
(01:11:26):
You know, the fact that he wasn't voted in with
those stats tells you all I need to know, like,
all right, then I'm not gonna participate. I'll rest at home,
you know, and I'll spend time with my friends. Still
want to think of it as an honored who cares
the honor would have been to have been voted in
on merit? What about all these I want? I want
things to happen on merrit. I don't want to be
in the in the College Radio Hall of Fame because
(01:11:47):
Jabbroni Jones turned it down. Now, if you want to
be in the College Radio Hall Fame, you have to
donate money. Still like, no one wants to be the afterthought.
But if you're the second, you're not the first. Trust
for everything in your life, you know, Okay, but make
me feel like I am Department of Corrections.
Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (01:12:05):
Sam Neil beat out Timothy Dalton. You know I knew
you were messed up on it, Timmy Dalton. Then it
went to.
Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
Pierce Broston and by the wing. Just so you know
how to watch the All Star Game. It is on
Fox in about an hour.
Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
I won't be expecting a call from in an hour
from now, Graduait reason I knew that because Poppy told
me he was on his way there. So yeah, he said,

Star Game tonight. Have fun with it. You won't see
Zach Wheeler and we'll see you guys today. If you
wanted to, you should have voted him in What's not
