dropped my daughter off to school, it's wild to see

So just be warned when you see these kids, don't
think they're lame. They're doing something that I guess became

It's called senior backpacks. Because my daughter was like, oh,
there's Carson and I was like, Carson, he has a
SpongeBob backpack. She's like, oh, yeah, those are senior backpacks.
And I said what's that? And then I noticed it

the seniors where like their little kid backpack to represent

and like, hey man, I'm I'm a senior now, but

And you know, you think there's some honor and clout
and pride, and there is, like in owning the Lakers,

sold it.

What were they not involved in a possible expansion franchise?

Yeah, they were one of the lead groups for the
expansion Vegas.

But they said, hey, let's jump on the Lakers. And
the number is a staggering twelve point five plus billion dollars,
so almost like a three billion profit almost yeah, in
less than a year. Right, because they were bought and
sold late twenty five twenty twenty five for ten billion,

So the Mark Walter Group bought him for ten million dollars,
which seems like not that long ago because it wasn't
and he flipped it for almost three billion dollars more.

And don't forget there was a headline I think it
was a week or so ago about how Mark Walter
has some business dealings that are being investigated. So there's
some rumors about that today like maybe he's he That
was another contributing factor for to let it go.

Well, it's also wild because they are a blue chip
franchise that you know, the Bus family that we're talking about,
a legacy, like you know when a team has the
same coach for decades and then all a sudden they
go through a couple years where they have a bunch
of coaches. The Lakers were like a steady he was
like the Bus family. Then we lost doctor Buss and
Jeanie and the family took over. So for a long time.

do they all gravitate towards? It's so obvious. Sports franchises
are where the money's at. The money is so clearly

Mark Anthony tom Brady. What does he do the minute
he retires, hooks up with hot chicks, hooks up with everyone,

So I think the point, if you're super rich and wealthy.

It's not even just a flex, it's an it's like
a solid investment because it's paying off. Yeah you're thinking like, oh,
that's just a cool flex. No, because the returns and
gains on a franchise and probably the tax things you
can move around so much better than be like I'm
gonna put it in a fidelity mutual funk. These guys
got money, they know. Do you realize this dude made

Yeah, and you boom on said, you said returns. That's
exactly what this is with some of these owners rich
because think of the Cheapo owners. Well, they're not making
a ton of money necessarily from the day to day operations.
Where they make their big amount of money is when
they unload the team finally for how much more than
they bought it. I have some examples here.

was probably a better move for Kushner and Eiger to
spend extra on a franchise already has a built in
legacy and familiarity. You'd be putting your initial stamp on.
That initial stamp costs a lot of money to market
and everything else, right, So you got to pay for

have cost US three billion just to get the word

ago when Lebron was eyeing that expansion team in Vegas.

of money, you start realizing, like, man, maybe it's time

other owners thinking? I feel like that happened in my
neighborhood because after twenty twenty, like we bought our house
in twenty.

And if you bought your house around twenty twenty, then
we called the house that ESPN built. Yeah, yeah, this

around the same time. Yeah, but if you bought in
around twenty twenty when interest rates are like two to
three percent, anyone that owns a house then has watched
their house. No matter where you live around the country, Danny,
your equity is through the roof. Think of how much
your equity is if you bought in the last five

plus years and then look at what an NBA owner
flipped his team in less than two years and made
a two million, two to three billion dollars. Sentimental you know,
attachment yeah to the or like family legacy, attachment to it.

Say these guys, these guys having an attachment like say
I grew up as this diehard Lakers fan and that
was a dream of his. No, it's a business transact.

So it's the light bulb over every business guy's head
to be like, all right, maybe it's time to sell then,
because people were willing to spend a lot of more
money than we thought. But you ain't kidding though, comparing
it to irregular folks in real estate, Like if your
parents are baby boomers and they bought their house in
the eighties for like one hundred thousand dollars and now
they're like, wait, the neighbors just sold for easily over
a million. That's the story in a lot of big cities,

like what the neighbors do dictates the value of everything
else around you. You start seeing the neighbors one at
a time for sales, and it works. It works negatively too.
On the flip side. I lived in a townhouse complex.
I owned it, and everybody started short selling when the
economy was bad, and you know, therefore the value of

your property goes down too. So owners are looking at
this like, yes, it's a seller's market right now. Then,
but you know what, I'll tell you the same thing
you say about real estate. Hey, Cavino, you made a
lot of equity on your property, sell it. And then
you're like, well, then what am I gonna do? So
a lot of these owners are very mentally invested and
they love the business angle of it.

are fun that they got the stadium, that's popping. They
got Why we're seeing athletes invest in teams that they
have no affiliation to some money that it doesn't even
make sense, Like yeah, Tom Brady and the Raiders, Aron
with the Who and like it really is just their
way to make some cash and flip some money. Now,

now this is interesting, it's working, this is interesting. The
Lakers just sold for twelve and a half billion dollars today.

The sports franchise that has currently valued the highest in
American sports as you can imagine out of the NFL
is Cowboys.

the Lakers for an NBA team compared to the highest

And then on the fourteenth bounce, the million dollar man

Ted Debiassi talks about how that bit made him even

He was the manager of a rental car place where
DBAs rented a car, and he's like, you don't know
who I am? And million dollar man of course, like
now who are you kid? I'll take a picture of
your fan and goes I'm the kid and kicked away
the basketball like super proud of and Debasi was like, yo, man,
you're doing well for yourself. They took some photos and

I just thought, like, what's the chance of that happening?

So cool? Like thirty forty years later.

My favorite Debass story is when he was actually on
Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and as kids were like, yeah, man,
he's he's that rich, like he's with Robin Leech or
what about the fact that because they really they led
into those gimmicks hard. I loved how he could have
win the belt, so he's like, I'm gonna make one
million dollar val was awesome.

Would have been a better story if the Avis manager
car rental manager took out a switchblade and it was like,
give me my million dollars, punt.
