Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Well you know, um,
I'm gonna try to get some headphones Ryan. That actually worked,
because I think there is a moment in the show
at some point where I should actually hear you or
maybe even here myself. In fact, I don't even know
if you can hear me. Throw me your thumbs up.
If you can hear me, I'm right here. I mean
(00:22):
I know that you're five six ft away from me.
I still here. We're not doing our heads for Spectrum
shout out on Spectrum by the appreciate that. Hey, Kelvin,
I'm I'm kind of like I'm happy and I'm salty
for you because it's like a I love Credit, Okay,
(00:43):
I'm a Credit fan. And I remember we were doing
radio and like after one of the shows, uh ESPN
l A. We used to do a lot of stuff together.
I was like, Kelvin, bro, like, you need to be
on camera, Like you're coming in with these fly out fits,
your hair is always like everybody what Marcella's want coming
(01:03):
in like like everybody. And I was like, dog, you
need to be doing TV. But I'm like, you are
an anchor a host of sports and then now you
have that platform, and I think you're you're even bigger
than that. You're you're whatever you want to be. Dog,
But appreciate no, No, for real, I remember what and
I was like dog, and You're like, you know, but
(01:24):
this is fun. I'm like, no, dog, you need to
be seen. Well you know what? So okay, Well I
appreciate that. First off, kelvin Washington. As you heard Ryan
Hollands with you Jason McIntyre show, we are filling in
if you want to call in and uh make me
feel even more uncomfortable eight seven seven six six nine
eight seven seven nine Fox. No, I appreciate it. I
(01:47):
do know. I vividly remember the conversation. Um, you and
I have had plenty of conversations, and that's why. So
it's funny. Let's just make this a very romantic show here,
all right, Let's start off romantically. UM, I was actually
seeing your praises the other day because I was telling
them how much I see you, as they say in
the streets, get it from the mud. Uh, you post
(02:09):
NBA career have really put in so much hard work.
You didn't fall into something lofty where you know it's
just like easy. Hey, we'll just plug him in here.
You have done you know here there this place that
plays working grinding. You make your own videos for Instagram
and YouTube and not like and I've seen you put
in the Blessed when tears in the in the equity
and so it's been awesome to see too. Man. So
(02:31):
we're just grinding, man, that's always we're grinding away. Brother,
I appreciate it. If you're grinding away here on this
Saturday morning as well, you want to jump in, I
told you can give us a call. You can also
tweet us the Ryan Hollins Fox Sports Radio and by
the way, Spectrum News one here in Los Angeles. Whe
right where I where I am? Where do my TV?
Showing all that good stuff? They love some Ryan Holland's brother.
I don't even get to the I go right and
(02:53):
then they're already like, oh my gosh, they're like, yes,
feel like there's something I'm not doing right now, Like
I feel like the guy that's not putting something together
because you're hearing that I'm saying that, you're saying that
I'm here, Like what am I not putting together right now?
That I should be doing what? You know, you're you're
doing it. Man, you know who you are. You you
were like the Milwaukee Bucks. Okay, you're just scrapping your
(03:18):
way through it, right And sometimes, as we know, when
you're putting in the work, it ain't always pretty. Sometimes
it is pretty, right, just like those suit you wear. Uh,
and and and it's a grind and uh. Some days
you feel like, man, this is man, We're easy championship. Right.
Then some days you're like, is it ever gonna happen? Right?
That is the process that we go through. No pun
(03:39):
intended to to Philly. Uh. Let's start there, though, Let's
start there with the Bucks, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Atlanta Hawks.
They got bucked up. Okay, and that's what to be.
They got bucked They got bucked up. Everybody's listening right now.
I don't want our bosses to have a heart attack.
They got they did, they got bucked up. What listen.
(03:59):
Rarely has there been a game that, after about a
quarter and a half, you know, how you have you
have kids, at a certain point, I no longer can
ignore them. I'm like, all right, let's go to the playground,
let's go have this water fight, whatever we're gonna do,
because this this game ain't worth me this and my daughters. Okay,
so uh. The Atlanta Hawks, who actually I called in
(04:19):
once you and Rob Parker were doing the odd couple,
and I said, they reminded me of kind of like
the Phoenix Sons of the East. And one of the
reasons I said that was because they just kind of
pushed through. They grind through. Um, if they're down, you
can kind of see in their body language that they're
gonna stay in the game. And they have that that
guy that you can lean on and depend on it.
And in the son's case, Devin Booker Atlanta Hawks, it
(04:41):
will be of course trade young. Um and I still
feel the same way, even though the Bucks got the
win and it was a big win and Bobby Portis
is now a Milwaukee hero, I mean, and who we
thought in life you would hear the crowd ever saying
poppy poppy. I mean, unless it was like Bobby Knight
or something like I I didn't see that coming. Um.
I still feel like the Atlanta Hawks just the way
(05:03):
their DNA. Maybe it comes from Nate McMillan, maybe it
comes from ice tray. What do you say that I
still like the Hawks to come back in this series
as if they're down, it's only one one. But just
to I still, man, I'm telling you that you ever
got beat down like that? Oh yeah I remember, Yeah, yeah,
(05:25):
we got smacked up. But but that's what let me
ask you this, there's always that age old question. Would
you rather lose? Like the Clippers lost Game two to
the Sun's eight and at the essentially at the buzzer,
would you rather than smacked up by thirty? It just
one yr night you were off? Which which is which
would you rather? And and don't give me the real
(05:45):
you when you were playing in the in the census
consensus of the locker room, like, would you guys be
like sh yo, man, we're going out tonight, just one
to night? Maybe we got blue outs all bit? And
where we got where the spot tonight? Or was it
like we got blue out? This is horrible? What how
does it feel in the locker room? All right? For one,
I know, wins and loss is going to the cloud
(06:06):
in the same way. Nobody's looking at the number total
whichever team scored the most points. But for me it's
the closer loss because you especially like in the playoffs, Kelvin,
I don't know a more emotional high or roller coaster
than the playoffs. And it's almost like the team that
(06:28):
cannot just play the best, but that can manage emotions
because for like seven potential seven games, you're giving everything
and you go home and you know, the worst thing
you see Kelvin Washington on Spectrum Sports talking about how
trash you are the night before and your Twitter is
going off and your gonna you it gets pounded into you.
(06:52):
Remember that run with the Celtics that I had and
with the Clippers and with Dallas. Every single night you
live it. You you're going home and you feel the
whole world has turned up at you. So I'd much
rather take that close loss, even though I feel like
as a team it's like the Cardinal Sender, never lose
a close game or give up a lead. If you're
(07:13):
if you're leading, you don't give it up. It's like
it's like what slapping the faith? So I'd rather tell
you that close loss. Because what the Clippers were able
to do is they went and watch film and said, well,
we let Devin Bucker get here, we DeAndre Aiden get here,
you know, we let Mickael Bridges get out in transition,
And those are the reasons we lost. It wasn't just
(07:34):
that last was Zoobos shouldn't be playing that much. We'll
play him in certain points, and we'll mix him in
rather than just leave it. There's a difference mixing a
guy in rather than leaving a guy in. And that
was just enough to get him over the edge. But
right now, if I'm Trey Young in the Atlanta Hawks,
I'm going back home and I'm saying, Hey, we did
(07:58):
what we're supposed to do. We start old one at home.
Now we take care of Atlanta. We're winning. We're winning
because they gotta fight like heck to take one, if
not two of the games from myself at home. But
there's a strong element where Atlanta got beat down so
bad they're questioning like dog like are we good enough?
(08:22):
But are we? I don't think they are, though, Like
I don't. I think the makeup team. You remember the
first time you got hit by a grown man, like
a real like a real punch, like this is a
serious fund you would mention that. So whenever I finally
get the Cohunas to go up there and do a
comedy stand up, then I will mention this story. I
(08:45):
was about twelve years old and uh, and the guy
was maybe fourteen fifteen, and you know, you knew him.
He was from the other neighborhood, but he was over
there because we had these these cute girls who came
in from Chicago. This is back when I was living
outside of Detroit in an hour and they would always
come in every summer. So how how was he mature?
He was he would have five kids? Or were you
(09:07):
a regular twelve? And I was, dude, I was four
eleven in high so at twelve, I might have been
the size of this Clarke's bleach bottom. That's a big difference.
And so I'm sitting there hanging out with the girls
who come, you know, every summer that every kind of
like the world word around town was like, man, he's
just you know, cool current. But we knew them because
they lived in our neighborhood. Like stay in their long
(09:27):
story short, Uh, We're just all hanging out on the
porch one day, just hanging out on the porch, just
and for no reason, he just goes smacks at least
have to black off me like I was bi racial
for like, for one second, bracial because he was Drake
(09:54):
was Thompson. I was trade young. I was Devin booked. Wow,
like he just and I don't know if he was
just like to prove that these girls I'm that guy
and this tough guy from the block, you know, because
he was from the hood. And there was no vertical
when I tell you, we didn't get into it. There
(10:16):
was no argument, there was no disagreement. There was just yeah,
you know what I'm saying. And he smacked me so
hard that he didn't smack me, like in my mind,
he was like, damn, he smacked somebody hard, because there's
no way I was just smacked that hard. And I
just looked and realized, oh, he smacked me, because first
of all, it looked like Michael Jackson in the nineties Michael,
(10:37):
not the eighties. He still brother. So yeah, my point
is there to answer to your question, yes, I've been
smacked so hard before. I didn't no sinse so I
had to play it off Ryan to conclude it. So
they're literally like two blocks from I don't want to
fight this guy. I'm not want to listen to me.
I contemplated fighting him for the next like six seven
(10:57):
years of my life. Like any like in high school,
had nothing to do, nothing moved on. We were actually cool,
you know, but every day I looked at him, was
like you made me buy racial for fifteen seconds in
my life like you sill, I was to face, you know,
to face from Batman. So I was too for My
face was gone. He was honest and you were Were
you compelling? That's a great No. I was young. I
(11:21):
was trade young, like the Blitz came and for fifties.
For five seconds you were trade and you went back
to compel and walk home and it was like the
green mile like I was just I walked home like
I was oh man. Mom told me to turn the
beans off on the stove, let me go home real quick.
And I had to walk home and there was no
cool in my walk. And he stayed with the girls,
(11:42):
and he stayed with and we knew that those were
our friends. Are people like they were in our neighborhood.
So so with that being said, the Milwaukee Bucks were
able to get smack up the Hawks. The Hawks got
bucked up. But I want to ask they got bucked up? Man?
Bucked up? Well, you keep thinking what I'm saying that listen, Man,
you know, I know you're a mad guy. Ken, I
(12:04):
know what they got bucked up with the b as
in by racial like I was for that Momentum, I
want to I want to come back and stay on this.
So you gotta have an I g could I follow
him not? You know what, that's a great question. I
haven't seen him probably in twenty at minimum twenty what's
his name? By the way, his baby mama. One of
the all time greatest high school fights I saw involved
(12:25):
her and she beat up the bully. There was this
other girl who was a legend. She did and I
hope he married one of the girls. A lot of
I haven't been going around for twenty years. Um, but
I want to continue. Let's coming back. Stay on this Buck,
stay on the Bucks Hawks series a little bit. See
who what adjustments can be made? Um? If you like
(12:48):
what you were able to see from the Bucks and
all the Bucks, because a lot of what I've been hearing,
uh is that the Western Conference Finals is the finals.
Many people feel like this is this is the finals? Um,
but I'm like, hold on, I know the Bucks again,
it isn't always pretty. And when yannas, you don't know
how many charges he's gonna get and how if Chris
Middleton's is gonna make shots in that. But the fact
of the matter is, and let's settle down on just
(13:09):
assuming whoever comes out of the West is automatically the champion.
Will continue some more on that the Jason McIntire Show,
Ryan Hollands, Calvin Washington end reach out to a seven
seven six seven seven ninety nine on Fox. We want
to hear from you as well. Do you automatically believe
that the whoever comes out of the West is going
to be the NBA champion? Will discuss that next Fox
(13:31):
Sports Radio. Almost gay Bar didn't mean to do it,
but I'm a star, Yeah, Me and Ryan Hollands about
to take it real far. Uh yeah, And you don't
really want to spark because you get knocked out like
I did by the dude who made me buy Ratio
four minute, four minute, but he's I'm black on both sides. Now,
(13:53):
Jason McIntyre Show, Ryan Hollands, and Colvin Washington having a
good time. Hopefully you're having a wonderful Saturday today. Ah.
We got some big time hoops coming up a little
bit later on. As you know, we got the clips
and the suns. We'll get to that game in a
little bit here. I want to get back to the
Bucks and the Hawks for just a moment um, right,
and let me let me ask you this. I want
to go back to the Bucks for a moment. One
of the things is they win one. Uh, they hold
(14:16):
Trey Young the only fifteen points. They reminded us that
he's a human and that he is a young player.
You know that this isn't supposed to He's not supposed
to be making this look easy. And he also had
nine turnovers, by the way, which was which is big
because obviously you get the Bucks to be out there
in transition. You're not putting shots up. Um, you're you're
you know, you're giving the team the ball back, extra possessions,
(14:38):
and there was just an energy. I remember doing the
show with Bucky Brooks four weeks back. Who buys watch
you At the last segment, my bees are festerday apparently right? No?
And I told him, I said, hey, man, Bobby portis
p J Tucker, Drew Holidays. There's those additions to the team.
(15:00):
Make this Bucks team a tougher team. Um, they make
them a tougher team and a team that you know
they're not just gonna be finesse is not just Chris
Middletons shooting jumpers, you know, and a couple other brook
blow pez out there shooting threes. Like no, they got some.
They got a tough element to this team now. And
he kind of laughed at me because I brought up
Bobby Portis and he said, you're the guy who goes
to the barbecue who wants to know who made the sides,
(15:22):
not worrying about the barbecue. And I said, look, that's
a great point. That was a great point. I said,
I do love big beans, I do love potatoes out
you know, no, but those things do matter on the team.
As you know, right, it's those Jay Crowder guys on
a team. As you know, it's the Ryan Hollins on
the team, the guys who are Look, they're not gonna
be the starter, they're not gonna be the headlines, but
they make the extra plays. They make those plays that
(15:44):
maybe don't come up in the statbooks. Um so with
the Bucks, and you saw that those editions come through
last night. A guy like Bobby Porter's he brought energy.
Hadn't Billy played much kind of on and off throughout
the playoffs, but that extra energy man, and then that
extra play things you don't account for. Right, if you're
the other team, you're a we're gonna do this when
you's gonna build a wall around Honest, Chris Middleton likes
to get to these spots. We're not gonna let him
(16:04):
get to these spots. Well, you don't account for the
Bobby Middleton's the Chris Cameron paints when you when you're
talking about the Sons, Uh, Chris Middleton's, Uh, you know,
the Bobby portiss. So what the Bucks? Another thing I
was doing, I was rewatching. I'm still in the middle
of it, probably maybe a third of the way through
rewatching the Last Dance, and the Bucks remind me of
(16:26):
the fact that in the NBA, you typically kind of
gotta go through something, right if you're the if you're
the Warriors, even that Warrior's team had to go through
a couple of postseasons where they didn't get it done.
Before they got it done, you know, the Bulls team,
as I'm watching the Last Dance, they didn't get it
done against the Pistons for a few years in a row. Um,
the Bucks have kind of still Detroit. What are you
talking about? The number the number one draft pick, Pistons.
(16:47):
What are you talking about? You just like we back,
we back, Ka honey Ham, um, super nice, perfect time.
Why all these former Detroit Pistons falling? Reggie Jackson, Lukannar,
Marcus Morris. Uh, you don't think Derek Rose, Blake Griffin
had no no cartilage in his knees. Now he's got
(17:10):
all of a sudden, he's got bunnies again. What the heck? Yeah,
I noticed. Trust we're back. Sorry, all right, we're back.
I wish we could have kept Derek Rose because I
knew that, I knew we shouldn't. Like I could have
kept everybody. I will be I I'm all right with this.
We started off, yeah, and we got be stew we
got Ka honey Ham, we got uh satic Bay Uh,
(17:32):
we got ci Bay. We were eight over here. All right,
give it. We are the Hawks in two years. Put
that down on pay. Okay, but no, So I want
to get back to the series, all right, And so
the Bucks have gone through this. Do you think this
is their year? And the fact that they went through
the we made fun of them. We've said you got
the two time m VP and you're not winning. We
said you're for Nash you can't get it done. He
(17:53):
can't make free throws, which he still can't um. But
it seems like since the Nets weren't fully healthy, Lakers
weren't fully healthy. This kind of seems like to me,
it's almost Taylor May for that that team that had
gone through the Suns haven't gone through it yet, right, Uh,
the Hawks haven't gone through it yet. The Clips would
be the I guess the Western Conference team who would
kind of gone through it that you could say the
(18:14):
same thing with the Bucks, Kelvin, buckle up your seat belt.
I was talking with Colin Cowherd earlier this week, and
I want this to be known. This is about Janice
Onto to COOPO, who played excellent last night. But let's
keep everything in perspective. Okay, just like the bully who
(18:38):
decided to slap you, decided to slap you for no
good purpose. He was he was older, He was older.
He should have been able to say, okay, he was older,
you were younger. Okay, it was a time for Yannice
Onto the COOPO. There's no excuse he doesn't win an
NBA championship. He's a time m v P. The first
(19:03):
since I came Elijah Wan to be defensive player. To
your and m v P, I'm looking around the league
as you talking about Michael Jordan, no bad boy Pistons,
Lebron James, after d Wade, With no Kobe Bryant playing
at a high level, there's no excuse Jannice onto the coupo.
(19:24):
He's not an NBA champ at the end of this year.
He will never he will never get another opportunity in
Milwaukee this week. There's no Lebron, there's no Steph Curry.
There's pretty much no Kauai. He ain't been ruled out,
but the potentially there's no right hold on. There's another
(19:46):
there's no k d If Jannie out of the coupo
is what he has been proclaimed to be, or he
wants to be with the league wide open, in the
midst of injuries and and and early starts and in COVID,
he has to win a championship this year. Calvin, there's
(20:08):
no way around it. When the bullies slapped you, he
was older, it was his time. Is the bully now
you're gonna make me find him and beat him up
for no reason, like he might have grandkids at this point.
And I'm gonna beat him up for no reason because
you keep bringing it up. Um, you're absolutely right man
when you say this is there's no excuse for your
(20:29):
honest Um you have you have a team that has
all I think Drew Holiday was a one time All
Star when he's in Philly. You have Brook Lopez who's
been an All Star. Meaning you got Chris Middleton. Isn't
all isn't all Star. You have guys on your team.
You're not alone. Your guys key, guys other than what's
his name Devin Chico are all healthy. You have the
(20:49):
healthier team. Um, you are the star and you're going
up against a team that has no real experience. Right there,
you have a box team. I don't think that they've
been made it to the Eastern Conference finals before. So
Tyng's first first play, first play, first playoffs. Man, these
young superstars, I don't know what is into them. They
are absorry with how it's just they're coming Lim Luca
(21:11):
Jamal Murray, you know last see these guys are coming
into your kids even this year. These guys are coming
in young. Like had a game versus We had a
couple of games against the Warrior. That's that playing to
do we count that this player, I don't know, what'll
be just a purgatory. It wasn't regular season, it wasn't postseason.
It just was a season like it just happened. I
(21:35):
don't know, because literally they haven't figured out what they're
gonna do. They're gonna count in their stats for the
regular season in the postseas, So it's just like this
random playing a couple of games for some teams. They
don't know what they're gonna do. What are you calling
like a preseason game? Not quite a preseason because it
has a lot more implications in that. So wait, so
what you're saying that before we get to what's trending?
Are you telling me then that the you this is
(21:56):
you picked the Bucks to winning on I'm saying Janice
has to because no, gosh darn excuses his legacy. We
talked about legacy, and we talked about the broadcast build
on to his legacy. He can't hurt it. Nothing stuff
catching Janice's legacy is on the line this year. All right, Well,
(22:17):
uh well then I'm i I'm really interesting because you
didn't say that you picked the Bucks, So now don't
answer it. Now I want to know who that I
want to know. You know, we'll go to the Western Conference. Uh,
when we come back from what is trending? Isaac loandcron
is gonna give you that now with Good morning Calvin,
Good morning Ryan. We have some crazy breaking cycling news
coming up in just a moment. Oh, now, that would
(22:41):
really be breaking. I mean he'd have to pass a
number of tests. You're not insinuating things? Are you here?
Actually just been sued by Lance Armstrong. It's just popped
up on my Twitter. I'm just saying, that's that's fast.
I'll tell you alright, almost as crazy as that. We'll
start with Game two of the Eastern Conference It's Finals
Friday night, and then Milwaukee Bucks blowing out the Atlanta
(23:03):
Hawks by thirty four one, five to ninety one, tying
the series at one win apiece. Off the floor Shops
Trawanti reporting the Portland Trailblazers will hire Chauncey Billips to
be their new head coach. In the Stanley Cup playoffs
on Friday night, the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the New
York Islanders one to nothing in Game seven of the semifinals.
Only goal of the game scored by Yanni Gordon, the
defending Stanley Cup champion lightning in the second period. So
(23:25):
it'll be Tampa Bay against the Montreal Canadians for the
Stanley Cup. Baseball Friday Night. Padres over the Diamondbacks eleven
to five. Fernando Tatis Junior of the Padres, hit three
home runs at his first three at bats. The Padres
on an eight game winning streak. The Diamondbacks have lost
twenty four consecutive road games on modern day Major League record. Now, finally,
(23:48):
you know, Kelvin and Ryan, it's so great to finally
have fans back at sporting events again. But moments ago
we had an unfortunate drawback to having fans back. In
the opening stage age of the Tour de France. Picture this.
As the pack was riding by, a fan on the
side of the road was holding up a big cardboard
(24:10):
sign for the TV cameras that read in French alai's
op omi, which roughly translates to high Grandpa and Grandma. Unfortunately,
that fan was holding part of his cardboard sign over
the road and it clipped one of the riders as
they went by, and it caused a massive chain reaction
(24:33):
that caused approximately half the field to crash. We're talking
about roughly ninety out of a hundred and eighty four riders.
Observers have called it the biggest crash they've ever witnessed
at the Tour de France, all because of one knuckle
head holding up a cardboard sign that's said in French,
high Grandpa and high grandma back. Do you guys man
(24:57):
that grandparents could not be any more disappointed in them?
Don't know that kids? Wait? Okay, hold on, Isaaco, was
it a kid like a kid kid like seven eight
year old kid or like I'm so sorry to say
it was it was a fully grown adult child. I
can feel I can keep making fun of them. Then okay,
so yeah, I'm watching it now. We have it on
(25:19):
one of the TV's in here. Um, and you do
because it's not a sport that we often talk about. Uh.
In fact, I don't think we've talked about since Lance
Armstrong retired. Uh. And then, by the way, you just
brought it back for the first time, Isaac. Um looking
at Look? How look how close that is? Ryan? I
mean literally they're driving by trailers. And I don't mean
I mean literally like r vs that are maybe eight
(25:42):
inches from them, Like they're that close to the side
of the road that it actually is remarkable more things
like that that don't actually happen, you know, and whether
it be intentionally or unintentionally, meaning, uh, that a fan
doesn't do something stupid on you know nothing. I'm not
even say anything Crazier Island, but just whoa, I love
you so much you try to go for a kiss,
(26:03):
you know what I mean? And anything like that, because
I mean, they're incredibly close. First of all, they're remarkably
close to each other, but you're right there next to
people who can high five you, touch you. It's actually
astonishing that more things don't happen to me, you know. Uh,
how do did you have any interest in cycling? Like
is there anything that did you even ride? Look at
that they're getting ready to come through here. It's cars.
(26:24):
I wonder if they think about putting more barriers up
or something. I mean, I rode bikes around the neighborhood.
That's That's about where it stopped. But the crazy thing
for me, or what really stinks, is like one writer
goes down and we're all going down, and like we're
watching and it looked like like they're moving generally slow,
like like they're going so fast. They're going so fast
(26:49):
that those wreck Like I don't know. I'ma be honest,
I don't know if I could get up from a
wreck Kelvin. Like if if I'm writing and you go
down in front of me and I smack about because
you fell, I don't know if I have the energy
to get because it's nothing worse than I'm already tired
and now I gotta get back in my zone in
(27:09):
my bag after you decided to fall down. Yeah, but
I think you know you. I think that's what comes
with the sport, right, Like every sport has things you
have to get used to. Uh, and I think they're
used to that. All right. We just gave you three
minutes of cycling, brought to you by Fox Sports Radio,
Ryan Hunds, Calvin Washington, and for Jason McIntyre. Um. By
the way, Discover matches all the cash back you earn
(27:31):
on your credit card at the end of the first year.
It's amazing because discovers accepted at places in the US
that take credit cards or more at Discover dot com
slash Yes. Nielson Report limitations do apply. All right, let's
get to the Western Conference Finals a little bit. I
want to go back to that series that as I
just mentioned moments ago. If you were listening, Uh, Kawhi Leonard,
(27:53):
they said it's ruled out of game four. Uh, there's
two to one right now in favor of the Sun's Uh.
I do have a question. Would you like to go
the actual game first or would you like to go
I need you to break down Kauhi Leonard first. And
I don't mean Kawhi Leonard the player on the court.
(28:15):
Here's what I mean. You took too much time. We're
going Kawhi Leonard. Game three. We saw his team first
game back at Staples first ever Eastern or Western Conference
finals game at Staples Center for the Clippers. It was
a big game, the biggest in there, you know history.
It's a big moment there down oh two. Yet they
had a chance to win game two. We know Kauai
(28:36):
is not gonna play. He was in the suite with
his whole crew, family, friends, what's his uncle Dennis is there?
Everybody's up there having a great time with some popcorn,
you know, eating the best things that the Staples Center
has to offer. Could he not go? Five stories below
(28:57):
and come hang out with his team, Like I'm not
even there is no judgment because maybe there's something I
don't know, Maybe they're What is it about him that
does things his own way? Like I heard he has
his own locker room, like where he has his own
separate area. He um doesn't have to come to certain practices.
You see guys sitting on the bench rooting for their team,
even superstars, right, they're sitting there for the most You
(29:19):
see Kyrie with the nets, he's sitting there. He saw
hard and prior to him coming back in the series,
what is it about Kauai that he just he does
the things his own weird play pace and just you know, hey,
I'm hurting, No, oh, well what's the information my knee?
Well what about your knee? It hurts? And like that's
all we really get. And he sits him in this
week And if you're his teammate, I'm really asking this genuinely,
(29:42):
if you're his teammate, is that just that's just Kauai?
Or is it like, hey man, we could use you
down here, you know, just seeing you be a part
of it, the camaraderie, or does it not matter as
a teammate in the playoffs. I get regular seasons. Even
one thing the playoffs player, okay, um, I saw what
you saw, and Kelvin, you're whoop it too. Whether you
(30:04):
get credit for it or not, you whoop it too,
and you understand certain rules of the game, whether you've
been an NBA locker room or a college black room
or not. I thought it was odd that he was
up in the press box, but I don't know, and
maybe I'll reach out to some people to see maybe
staples of the Clippers have different COVID protocols where you
(30:28):
know he had been a little more exposed per se.
I don't know, or there's a different situation. They'd rather
just be safe and sorry, especially saying that Chris Paul
their star, their leader of the Phoenix Suns, and missed
the first two games because he contracted COVID. So maybe
it's like, well, Kai, you're on a different plan. You
gotta see certain therapists and get a different level of treatment.
(30:50):
Then the team, the entire team is doing for your
behalf to see if you can get back in this series.
Maybe that's it. But if it's not it, I'm gonna
say this. Kauai Leonard kind I put this, let me,
let me see it. Kaui Leonard is an amazing player.
(31:12):
He's rare. I have a real, real stingy less like this.
Stingy like the dude to eat his derrito's in front
of you and not give you a deris like. I
got a real stingy list of superstars, and Kauai is
all my superstar list, okay, and it's probably five or
six deep. I don't label everybody else superstars. He stinks
as a leader, though he's still and I don't know
(31:33):
Kauai behind the scenes. This is from my observations. I
don't know. Maybe there's a guy in the locker room
with that can tell me to shut up when I
say this or tell me that I'm wrong. But from
what I say, he stinks as a leader. I don't
see the uh. I don't see the verbal communication. It's
rare to see the camaraderie. And I know when your
leader gives you that energy or or pumps pumps it
(31:56):
into you, it's just a different level that you go
to as a role play. I don't see that from Kauai,
nor I guess unfortunately, like do I expect it, because
when the lights come on, Kauai gets busy, right, like busy,
So there's no question there. But as a leader, he stinks.
And if he is not going down just because he
(32:17):
prefers not to, it's this hardened. So you have you
brought up very but I don't know, so these are
just all we're questioning. Still, you brought up a very
fair and great point that we don't know, and maybe
there's some protocol or something they're saying, hey, we prefer
But I will tell you the whole family was up
in there and a bunch of other people, so it
wasn't as if he was up there alone with a
trainer or one other person maybe here. I don't know,
(32:39):
you know, his his lady, Um, I can understand that
he was up there with a lot of people. Um.
But if you look at his track we get we
don't know what the COVID. I agree that was a
great point. But I'll say this, if you look at
his track record, this is not out of the norm,
Like he would be the one to not be with
the team, right, he would be the one to be
up there. That's why we look Yeah, that's what I'm
(32:59):
looking at. Right. If you look at his track record.
This fits the you know, the description of a Kauai
led team where he's gonna be a little aloof he's
gonna be a little off. So it's interesting because I'm
again I'm rewatching the last dance, you know, every time
I put the girls to bed and kind of got
an extra few half hour before I go to bed myself,
and I'm looking at wow, like you know, who who
(33:20):
is the leader on your team? And you watch it
and Jordan was clearly the leader. And oftentimes your superstar
doesn't isn't doesn't have to be the leader, but you
have to have a leader, right. It might be uh
that one veteran I'm making it up. It might be
the Udonis has them of a team, right or you know,
and that is the leader of our team? Um, does
(33:41):
your superstar have to be the leader? Does one of
the two like if? And then that then that in
terms of okay, in terms of like alright, that's a
great example, Like haslum, we would say it's by far
the leaders. If it's hitting the fan has them is
going to speak all right, and he's in this like
hybrid road between coach and player. And we're sure that
(34:03):
you d is so dope that whatever he wants to do,
they just keep him an organization. Yeah, yeah, whatever he
wants to do, what he wants to do. Because you
saw Juan Howard. I don't know if he was a
player or coach for like ten years. You're like he
had on the bl yo Juwan Howard had on the
Miami He's shorts, but he had on a blazer. I
don't know if he's coaching playing. I don't know if
(34:25):
he might do both. I don't know, but yeah, they
do that down there. So here's my thing with you,
d I feel like Jimmy definitely was the leader there.
He said all the right things. Well, you know, Jimmy
can get wild. Jimmy's leadership in Chicago with the Bulls
and Rondo did not go over well. He there, he
alienated the young players. He and Dwayne Wade. Uh honestly know.
In Minnesota he didn't take this mentor ship role too serious.
(34:48):
They're soft. I don't like him. Boom, I'm out. Or
they didn't catch up, well, catch up Mustard. He didn't
catch up looking in Philly clear he had been you know,
didn't sit down and go over the jump shot. Um.
But in terms of Miami. You D is such a
h an intriguing force in the locker room that like, yo,
(35:12):
like Jimmy, you try that mess here, like you kind
of go on your own, like we're gonna pop you.
And like one thing I credit Jimmy for and I
credit those young guys for, and maybe Jimmy had to
learn how to be a better leader. They talked about
him bringing their young guys uh into the uh what's
what's our young guys in Miami's names? Uh Duncan Robinson
(35:35):
the heroes and how young you want to having them
up in five and six a workouts with him, you know,
and that that meant a role for them, and and
they played excellent that year when their number was called upon.
So I think you D kept him in check. He
was that voice. But like shout out to Chauncey Billups
by the way, I know we didn't win, but I'm
just while you're on the matter, like Chauncey wasn't our
(35:57):
star player, but Chauncey could get in the ear of
Chris Paul. Now, we didn't win anything, so it's not
like we're talking at a high level. But only one
team is gonna win so I can as a superstar.
Chris Paul still had even it's still young, still learning.
I think Chris Paul definitely a much better leader now
than he was with the Clippers at that time. But
Chauncey and Grant here were those elder statements. They those
(36:17):
were are haslums that could go to Chris and say, hey, Chris,
X Y and Z has to be better and it
worked out right. No, Chauncey's funny you mentioned Chauncey and
in that regard. Um, because we're gonna get to eventually
here the you know coaches uh names that are being
tossed out there. It looks like who's gonna get you know,
these coaching positions. We'll get to that momentarily. Um. I
want to continue some more on the Western Conference finals,
(36:40):
uh A bit more because I want to ask you
the assertion. It is funny you mentioned that Chris Paul.
You led me to a conversation because I knew that
they were gonna lose Game three because Chris Paul was back. WHOA, yeah,
I did. I'll explain to you why. Uh. Next it
is the Jason McIntire show, Ryan Hollands, myself, Covin Washington,
filling and reach out to us. V Ryan Hollins k
(37:02):

All right, a few minutes for us here before this
is a quick one. I'll wait on missy Elliots. Did
you get into the verses? If you've been keeping up
with the verses over the last over the pandemic, Swiss beats,
(37:47):
Timberland been doing the putting. You know this artist verse
that artist and everybody's been calling out missy Ellie. They
want to see her and bust of rhyme's go at
it and I'm like, I would love that. That'd be awesome,
that would be That'd be a blast. That'll be Can
twist them be somewhere around the corner? Uh? Do you
have to have twenty hits? Love twisted? And got about
five maybe six? It's it's the fact, Holla, he doesn't
(38:07):
have that, all right, Ryan Hollands, Calvin Washington with you,
Jason McIntyre show. By the way, you can tweeted. Somebody
tweeted and he said to us, he said, hey, uh,
he wants to talk a little baseball too. Um so,
uh what was this? Let me get his handle real
quick again. See if I can get to that quickly. Uh,
doctor feel good. By the way, don't ever take that
tweet that to me, only tweeted that to you, but
he did tweeted you. You are then, Ryan Hollins, and
(38:28):
you aren't you know that to me? You you you
inserted me and in that convo, I, well you did
get into conversation. If I'll only been doing radio with
you for in an hour, Um, so we're gonna get
to some baseball because you got your boy Tattoos Jr.
Who's doing some amazing things. And there's a conversation I
want to have in that uh a little bit later on,
we're here. Hey, hey, uh dr feel good many. We're
(38:49):
here for a few hours. Brother, We're here for a
few hours, So stick with your boys, all right, only
a couple of minutes before we gotta break here. I
want to throw this one at you, Chris Paul. You
mentioned him earlier last segment. I knew that the Sons
were gonna lose Game three because the addition of Chris
Paul coming back from that whatever it was, ten days off, uh,
you know, be a little rusty um. And also more
(39:11):
importantly than that, I think the element of them the
team saying, oh there's our leader back. We gotta do
as he says, do as he go as he goes,
as opposed to Um doing what has been working. And
I don't think he's gonna be the reason they loses
the series or anything like that. But I no, no
for that game, for that game because think about it.
(39:33):
Think of the thing scenario, right, you got the Clippers
who felt like they they lost game too, versus the
Sons one. So you knew they're gonna get that extra
bounce in their step. You knew Staple Center was gonna
be rocking, And I just felt like, again Chris Paul
trying to get acclimated to the team again, then you
have the team's gonna maybe just again just kind of
do as he says, and as opposed to the pacing
(39:56):
of Cameron Payne, Cameron brain pain rings a different pace,
a different energy, a different little nastiness to it. Um
and I think they're you know there that that the team,
the Sons kind of had a little extra bounce when
he was there. Uh So, losing him in the middle
of the game, bringing back Chris Paul, I knew and
again and also just what happened Bounce, He only played
four minute, he was hurt, he was hurt. Maybe that's
(40:19):
why he was hurt. He was out the road game.
So also you're telling me that Clippers, well, I mean
it's series. I mean you could argue that Clippers could
feel like they should be three and oh, I mean
they lost game one by what six? When that's what
book are going crazy at forty some point triple double.
Uh So I feel no, I feel like this is
gonna be a great series. Um, but I just knew
(40:39):
Chris Paul Pacing joining the team was gonna throw them
off a little bit. Uh. So I'm looking forward to
that game game four tonight. We'll talk a little bit
more about it coming up shortly. I do want to
come back and uh, you know we can maybe do
uh Tattoos Jr. Has been uh the biggest star in
baseball in my opinion. Oh Tani uh as well would
(41:00):
be there, and Mike Tromp being the best player for
those maybe being the bigger name, biggest stars. UH. Question
for you about them not showing up the certain things.
I'll explain it next. Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports Radio

The Ryan Hylands on Twitter, Cabb live for my myself
and U. I want to make doctor feel good? Feel
good for here for a moment, tweeted us. He said
(41:43):
he I want to hear some baseball. I had no
idea if that's how he's actually sound. What in the
Iowa saying? When did you? When did did you see that?
The move? Speaking of a baseball? Who who went to
the bullpen? Like? Where did you wait a minute? How
did you sneak in here? How did I miss you?
I show up at eight? I just walked on in.
You got I don't ask you? What time do you
(42:05):
show up? How did you like? Aunde him in the
bat entrance. I'm a very brisk walker, so you probably
just missed me walking by the window. Man, if you
don't announce you, he crawled underneath. He lives here, so
he just kind of there's like there's a cot somewhere
back there that he just kind of just my workout.
(42:25):
I crawled. Man, Hey, guys, you know what's funny. I
had a roommate that was infamous for that. Like we'd
all be talking and he would sneak out to go
on an adventure in college, and he was so infamous
for it because we wouldn't even notice he did it,
and he became this running joke and we saw him.
We finally caught him. I swear to God, I don't
(42:47):
want to swear to God for something. But he was
crawling army style on the floor, creeping out of the room.
And when we caught him, it was the funniest thing ever.
And it was his thing, just just to disappear, to disappear.
We'd be in the middle of conversations, we'd look up
and he'd be going. They were like, no, bro, where
did you go? Oh? Yes, once you yeah, once he
(43:10):
once he realized that you guys found humor and that
he had to keep it going. You're trying to keep going,
and you know, like and but you know, in college,
K was like, where are you going out? Where where
are you going? Did you guys have this? Did you
guys have a sweet mate? The sweet just in dorm
rooms connected through a bathroom. No, it was we had
(43:32):
an apartment, so he had he had his room. Sam.
I wasn't a big time athlete, you know, I was
a regular. We just had regular. No. No No, everybody gets
a stipend to move off campus, Kelvin. No, No, no,
everybody doesn't he say, did you get a stipend? Dee?
But I also can see Ryan Hollands living in an
apartment like a lot of students. Do you get like
(43:53):
a lot of dorms are get a little old after all? No, no,
no, no no no no. I had an apartment eventually. But
I'm saying, did you ever live in the regular old dorm?
I did? And you didn't even look confident when you said,
can you call it a trifect? It was three of
us and I stayed on the top bunk. Okay, I
just want to make sure I didn't know, because look, man,
you almost one. First of all, you're too big to
(44:16):
be staying on the third on the buck, the top
bunk exactly us. Why I had to move out? That
didn't make sense. You've been on the bump, all right.
I want to get into this conversation. Of course we are.
Last week of baseball has been UH has been strange.
And that you had the pictures now with all the
sticky tack and all that the spider tack and pick
(44:38):
attack uh. And they called him out about that. And
we saw a whole bunch of um pictures who were
called out throughout the last week and essentially this became
a stripped down, and but it had it was a
literal strip down. I mean, you had Max Scherzer, you
had a romo, you had all these pictures throughout the
(45:00):
the last week before five days or so, um, just
walking up and you know the umpster, Well, hey man, hey,
uh you know, the opposing manager believes you might be
doing something. You're touching your hair too much, touching belt
too much. I just wanted to got you. And then they,
you know, getting mad. You know, they come up to
Max Scherzer, who's gonna be a Hall of Famer, a
World Series champion, you know, like four times in the game.
(45:21):
So he therefore with then just under his belt, put
on his pants, live up his shirt, like what do
you want from me? Uh? So baseball has become this
is what happens when you when you keep flip flopping
and making rules as you go. Is this what is
this gonna hurt the game? How steroids hurt it? Do
you believe? Well, I think it's not gonna hurt it
like steroids, because multiple things. I think that's a great question.
(45:42):
But I think because of steroids, that was the mega
blow that now nothing will ever hurt like that. I'll
give you It's not apples apples, but I give an
equation OJI. I don't think we'll ever have anything like O. J.
Simpson again. And what I mean by that is, I know, right, like,
where how do we get to that? But hear me,
(46:03):
hear me out. O J. Simpson was the max of
television like George Floyd. Horrible situation, right, two totally different situations.
But what I mean, as far as that has us
glued to the TV or watching that was separate? Are
we are we talking of football? Are we talking in life?
Right now? What it's gonna make sense? You asked, will
(46:24):
this be like steroids? And I'm saying steroids was that
thing that was so big if you look at the era,
it was the late nineties, it was pre social media.
It had our attention, it was gripping us. You had
the fact that baseball had made a big comeback. You know,
it was becoming even the most popular it been in
some time. So you put all those you have the
home run race, you had this, all these things that
(46:44):
made it matter. Right. That's why I said to go
back to the O. J. Thing. I don't think anything
that can happen now would be as big as O J.
Because you had race, you had sex, you had money,
you had stardom, you had black, you had white, and
you had crime at a peak where people were still
watching the same things. Right, there was no Netflix, there
was no Hulu, there was no all these other things, uh,
(47:06):
you know, Apple, TVs and all of that. It was
simply I know you're keeping up with the O. J.
Simpson trial. I know this is what you're watching. You're
caring about. It had everything that would make you want
to watch it again. From the star standpoint, from the
racial standpoint, from the economic standpoint, you know, rich versus,
like all these different things. That's what the steroid there
(47:27):
was the height. It was the peak. So I don't
think anything else will touch that. Similarly, I don't think
anything will grip America's attention like O J. Uh the
trial did. I don't. I got really deep there. But
that's how the steroids thing was. Like, if okay, tomorrow,
if tomorrow tomorrow Clayton Kershaw's found using sticky tax spider
tack pick attack, we won't care like that. We'll be like,
(47:49):
oh man, he's in MRS. Team Games. I'm like we'll
be like, oh whatever, Hey, what are you doing tonight?
Hey did you watch the other game? Hey? Are you
watching NHL Stanley the Stanley Cup Finals? Are you watching
the NBA? Player like? We won't care like that, Whereas
the steroids was was the topic of pretty much everything
for for that, I don't Yeah, for me, I wouldn't
mind if they use it or not. But I say
this as the casual fan. I know there's a there's
(48:12):
a you know, I'm the casual baseball fan. I like storylines,
I like entertainment. I like home runs. I don't like
the right right, I don't like no hitters like so
for the How's explained to me, spider time allows the
pictures to have more control on the ball. Now you
(48:33):
can throw whatever pitch you wanna do. You don't gotta
worry about it getting wild, frettestyle, slider, okay, curveball, whatever
like like you're going. The guys are going absolutely ham
and the batters are froz like dog like, we can't
hit this like these dudes are are They're amazing. So
now with the hits coming back to me as good
(48:54):
for the game as a casual fan, Well, no, you're
you're not. You're not wrong, but I think that I
don't want to watch the one game I don't know
made you know, I do you know some pre impost
game for the Dodgers, And when I tell you, thank you, hey, hey, hey,
I knew you were talented. Brother, let's see you that.
I appreciate that. But the reason I say that is
(49:15):
because I sit there and I watched the reigning World
Series champs, who have on paper went all healthy, arguably
the best team in all the baseball when everybody's there,
obviously Corey Seeger, Coe Bell and all those guys are out.
But when they're all there, you're like, man, look at that.
Where's the whole right, where's the weakness? Lose games one
(49:36):
one run scored, no run scored, maybe two like all
the time, Like it happens a lot. And so you're
seeing to your point, people like, man, these some of
these pictures aren't that great exactly? You like that You're
not you know, uh, you know Nolan Ryan around here,
You're not Sandy Ko, fac Roger clements. Are they gonna
(49:59):
retract somebody? No hitters? Dog? Because like there's a record
pace now like like I'm not like I said, I'm
not the baseball kind of stort, and I'm like, no, no,
no hit. Yeah, there's many seven. I think there's been
seven so far this season. And then the Dodgers just
got no hit by a collective team like me. And
it wasn't one guy had this amazing you know, It
(50:19):
wasn't Jacob de Grime just like I'm gonna go out
there and do my thing and like, well had an
epic performance. This was like, all right, who else want
to come up and getting some of this no hitter?
You come on up here? It was Oprah, You're gonna
know here, You getta know here, You're gonna know here,
Like what the heck is going on? Um? But I've
said that to say, um, this is what happens when
you tinker and mess with it, right, this is like
you you you kind of all right, we're not we're
(50:41):
gonna have are we care? And then they do it
a mid season right, We're gonna like they keep switching
things around. They had the live ball last dude, the
last couple of years. That's why they had all those
home run records. Every team is breaking their own franchise record,
and the collectively baseball is breaking home run records and
now it's like they scaled it back. Let's deaden the
ball a little bit. So they gotta get it together
and figure out, you know what they're trying to do
(51:02):
real quick. Yeah, I would love to hear once this
thing kind of like smooths over, like the Spider tax stories,
like how far did like where did you hide your
spider tech? Like where were they? How far were you
guys going? You just started a podcast, right, you know
that's how they start, right. Some of the best podcasts
they are from niche things like you know what happened?
(51:27):
You know, we're gonna be star Wars and they'll go
or not not even star Wars, they're gonna start Trek
and they'll go like they'll just go episode episode, or
they'll do uh, you know, they'll do all these things
like the hitting gyms behind the scenes of Harry Potter,
and it becomes like huge because it's such a nice
thing that you got the other hundred thousand people in
America who love it or worldwide and they joined it.
(51:48):
You just started sticky tech stories with Ryan Hollins, so
you better start to look Opinion seven opinionated The seven
Footers uh. And and now the sticky tax stories. You
better started? How far did you go? Like? For because
I know these dudes are doing some wild stuff. And
the best part about this has been I don't know, Sam,
Creeper Sam, that's your name for the rest of that
(52:09):
Creeper Sam. I don't know if we have any of
the sound from I forgot what Pittrid was. They asked
me and said, hey, do you use any spider tech stuff?
And he was, UM, well is it? Garrett Cole wasn't
hum well like not me doing well? I can? It's
like and that boy cannot dog do not do no
(52:32):
nothing wrong that don't do when you were hanging out
your boy. Look, this is where we were writing Derek.
Don't tell him. Everybody's girl knew Garret. Where were y'all?
How we? Um? Sam? Pity for me? You ever used
spider time? Um, I don't listen. I don't know. It's uh,
(53:00):
I don't know quite. I don't quite know how to
answer that. I don't know. UM. I mean there are
cones and practices to customers and practices. What am I
going to customers? And borders the last generation of players
to this generation of players, and um, you know, I think, uh,
(53:23):
I think there are some things that are certainly out
of bounds in that regard. Dude, Oh no, White, you're
missing his calling? Are your girlfriend go? Hey, where did
you guys go after dinner? Did you go to the club? Hum?
Customs um Traditionally, Historically customs show that practices of the
(53:43):
he's missing his calling after baseball, he better be a politician.
So so do you mean to tell me have you
actually paid taxes yourself? Well, look, you know I have.
I mean that's a relative question, like what are what
exactly are taxes? You know, Americans are taxed at rates
in which they know when you think about it, from
the first to the upper class, You're like, okay, after
(54:05):
all that, I don't even know what he just said,
right all right now I brought us so. Yes, So
baseball has got to figure out what they want to do. Man,
every year, it can't be this every year. They can't
be that they switched or switching it up. I understand
they're trying to find what works and and find their groove,
but man, it can't go from literally historical low numbers
of batting average and hits and all of that's terrible
(54:26):
you got average pictures looking like they're the reincarnation of
Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, and then last couple of seasons
you had guys looking like there, you know, the reincarnation
Henry Aaron and Babe Ruth and all these guys. So
they gotta they gotta find this this median right, this
is this place in the middle. But but I think
they might just say, you know what, go by everybody,
(54:46):
juice ups, juice up, do push up pull ups. I
don't pick up. Just let's just get back to that,
sticking with baseball, but tying it into a larger conversation.
I want to come back and ask you this. Fernando
Tattoos Junior had an amazing game. He said, nah, I'm
not gonna be in a home run derby Ryan. Guess
(55:07):
what he did a few hours later, hit three home
runs in the game. Question for you, what is it
about some of these stars? His play? His was a
little different. Who don't want to participate in the fun
things like the All Star weekend dunk contest and all that.
I'm gonna tell you about these dudes, bro, I want
to talk about that next. We'll do that. It is
(55:27):
Jason McIntyre Show, Ryan Hylands, Calvin Washington, Uh, do you
want more of our show? Hit me the Garrett Cole
right quick? Do you want more of the show? That's
what I want to know. Tom. Um, I don't, I
don't know. Um h, I don't, I don't know. Ah,
(55:54):
but listen, listen, listen. Everybody has been there, right, everybody's
been there. Your girl asks you, um, your teacher ask
you something. Where's your homework? Your job? Ask you? So
why you're late? Um? Um um? Sam, how did you
get in the building. That's a great one. Sam, I
still don't know how You've gotta be. I need to um.
(56:15):
Jason McIntire Show, Kelvin Washington, Ryan Hylands filling in with
you on this Saturday, eight seven, seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven, uh six, three, six and nine.
Feel free to reach out to us all. Going back
to Fernando Tattoos Jr. Uh, he said that he's not
gonna be in the home run Derby. He said he's
at seventy right now dealing with an ailment, little injury,
(56:35):
and he said he wants to give this, you know,
give the fans the best that he can. And I
do believe. I don't think it's necessarily just like, I
don't feel like doing this. It's beneath me kind of thing,
because the home run derby typically does get the big
names and the guys who you know, bring out the
big bats uh pun intended. Um, But it made me
think on a larger scale to your sport, Ryan, Uh,
(56:58):
what is it about? But by the way, Fernando tattoos
for those who for some reason, maybe with the kids
or took your girl out to a movie or something,
you didn't get a chance to see it. He said
he don't want to be in a home run derby
and then proceeds to hit three home runs. I guess
essentially that was the home run derby for him. He's
you want to see about home runs in the game
where it actually matters and it counts here to take
these and I think he's had like twenty five on
the season now. Shay hi O tani uh is also there.
(57:21):
I think like he's doing remarkable things, which, by the way,
those two guys should be uh, massive massive stars. Just
I mean, especially with the big surge and Latin X
culture going on right now around the country, really around
the world, like Fernando Tattoos Jr. He's should be a
much bigger star outside of even baseball. He's got the hair,
he's got the personality. Not to mention he's insanely talented.
(57:44):
He's only twenty two. Um, but it brought me back
to thinking a broader thing. I was like, oh, he's
not gonna participate. Then I realized why is okay? He's hurt,
he wants to be his best he can be. I
respect that, But I thought about your boy lebron Um.
I thought about some of the guys in the NBA
now Zion and and like, why don't the best of
the best, the stars of the stars I want to
(58:05):
participate anymore? It seems like it's almost not cool. And
I know things are cyclical in life, meaning it'll come
back around, you know what I mean, Because you're gonna
get a job or rant um eventually. Maybe you know
who else has crazy? Uh? You know Donovan Mitchell did hey,
but he wasn't quite a star. Maybe he does it
again now that he's a superstar. You know you're gonna
(58:26):
get these guys who our names people. We know people
were looking forward to seeing um. But but you know,
you have this era where like it's almost like I'm
too cool to do that thing now at times, and
I kind of blame Lebron. You already know I'm his
biggest fan. He goes Savannah's wife, Gloria, his mama, and
me um as biggest fans of Lebron. But that always
(58:49):
bothered me because part of it, I think, is a
psychological aspect, like what if I lose, Everyone's gonna make
fun of me Everythingna care, They're gonna make fun of
your Lebron. They make fun of everything you do. You
win a game, Skip Bayless is gonna say, wasn't good enough?
You know you do this, you do that. So I've
always kind of wonder why wouldn't he, like Jordan did it,
Dominique didn't. Those were like two of the top ten
(59:09):
guys in the NBA at the time. Obviously Jordan were
being number one, um maybe maybe number one, two or
three at the time because he was you know, bird magic.
But you had Lebron do it. I mean, I'm sorry
he had Kobe Bryant do it. You had Claik Drexer,
who was the top player do it like you had
Dr Jo was Dr J did it? Multiple times you
had Blake coming in. It's a big time number one pick,
(59:30):
big star playing I'm rageously out of his mind the
first half of his rookie he does it. Um you
know it was. It's kind of always been perplexing me,
like why wouldn't he do that? Why? Or while you
see gods out participating some of these ancillary things. Is
it because it didn't go with my brand? It's not
cool and it hurt me. What do I have to game?
How would I win? I'm already famous and popular? What
(59:51):
is that? What it is? Now? My understanding what Lebron
and every player is different and this is so weird.
So Kelvin, I think you hit it right on the
head when you said it's mental. Lebron has always felt
like he was never a dunk contest dunker, but then
he would do that all the time pregame and and
(01:00:13):
in the game. He would go through the legs. In
the game he rocked the cradle like you would just
naturally see these And there is an element to it.
To Kelvin, you have to practice dunk contest dunks. So
for instance, like you have like your go to is,
like so if I had a fast break I'm a
windmill type of guy, like, okay, what are you showing up?
You're doing the windmill or the the in between showoff
(01:00:36):
would be, you know, do a three sixty. You know
that that's kind of a thing. But for prise me,
why did you never do it? They wouldn't let the interesting.
They wouldn't let me do it because you wanted the
league wanted bigger stars to be in it. I don't
find that because every year, almost for the last thirty years,
there's always like if there's six people back in the day,
(01:01:00):
like Kenny Skywalker, Kenny Skywalker whatever the name is. What
I'm trying to say, he wasn't a star for the
you know, I mean maybe well my rookie year I
wasn't getting minutes either, so yeah, yeah, I mean second
year too. They just felt like that actually yea, yeah,
we were pushing hard in the league. Wouldn't let me in.
So there's like there's a peg one dude, Jamari whatever
(01:01:23):
what's his name, moon Like he wasn't like, dude, dude,
there any dudes who weren't. I guess it's like peyn
will keep you in mind to James White. They didn't
let James White in the dunk contest until it was
like too late, and James White was Zach Levine before
Zach Levine going through the from the free throw line
off one foot. And you know, like as we compare
(01:01:45):
to tattoos, like see maybe Lebron risks injury or maybe
he you know, hey, if I fall, I don't make
a dunk there, But like it's Lebron James, it's very
image conscious. But I think with tattoos, as we for
all the comparisons, tattas has no excuse. Bro Well, I
mean he's hurt and that he what she was. But
(01:02:11):
these are real games. I gotta play in these, right,
y'all pay me for these. This is the one that
this is where my legacy, you know lies. I mean,
you do it one time, right, you do it one time.
He's twenty two. I'm not mad at him. He's gonna
he said, I'll be in a few like he's gonna
do it. Like typically for the most part of the
baseball guys don't hire from it, like they don't run
from it. He's twenty two years old, He's going to participate.
I just always that always perplexed me with Lebron I'm like, yeah, sure,
(01:02:33):
you're already. Lebron Jordan was Jordan, he did it a
couple of times. You know, Dominique was Dominique did it
a couple of times, Like Kobe was his star and
Kobe did it. I mean, you know, like I just
always thought that was pretty strange. Like if Zion Williamson
does not participate in dunk contest at some point, what
are we doing here? Here's here's the thing. Him showing up,
he wins, Here's the thing. Lebron definitely set a legacy
(01:02:56):
of the next generation stars not getting in the dunk
head John Murrant, John Murrat, Loki will win it over oh,
because he's he's he's it's he floats. Ine. Maybe I
don't know that. What were doing? Are we doing poles?
We need to do a pole? Are we doing abo that? Listen,
(01:03:17):
I'm the new guy who would win a dunkind John
or Zion win. I have my money on John fam.
I'm just saying he's so, he's so skinny, he dog,
he got the skinny man. He flows, he looks like, yeah,
he definitely looks like every rapper right now, all super
skinny with dreads. He looks like he looks like little
he looks like little or young. Anybody just call he
(01:03:42):
twenty two savage when he ate savage, whateveryone was like,
he looks like little young one on the Rappers, that's
for sure. But anyway, I just want to ask you
because always shows me crazy. But Tatti's Junor is a
star man. They need to find a way to make him.
I guess, Shahio Tani. I mean those guys, they got
some incredible dudes who are doing some great things. The
average person doesn't know. Tattys Jr. Mike Trial have always said,
(01:04:02):
Mike Chalk walk in l A live and four people
would know him here in l A like that, as
it's always been the strangest thing about baseball, all right.
As I want to get back, of course, to some
NBA getting you ready for Game four of the Western
Conference Finals. We will do that momentarily. Isaac Lowan cron
is gonna give you what's trendy, Calvin and Rhin don't.
We start with Game two of the Eastern Conference Finals
(01:04:22):
on Friday night, and it saw a blowout the Milwaukee
Bucks over the Atlanta Hawks by thirty four points to
ninety one. Tying the series and one with a piece
off the court. News Sean's Tranti reporting the Portland Trail
Blazers are hiring Chauncey Billips as their new head coach.
And some really interesting NBA business news this morning, as
Sportico reported, the Los Angeles Dodgers owner owners Mark Walter
(01:04:48):
and Todd Bailey are purchasing a twenty seven percent share
of the Los Angeles Lakers from billionaire Philip and Shoots,
a share that is worth approximately one point four billion dollars,
and the deal also includes the right of first refusal
if the Bus family everage decides to sell the Lakers.
(01:05:10):
In the Stanley Cup playoffs, the Tampa Bay Lightning defeat
of the New York Islanders wanted nothing in Game seven
of the semifinals on Friday nights, so Tampa Bay advances
to the Stanley Cup Final against the Montreal Canadians. Baseball
Friday Night Padres over the Diamondbacks eleven to five, Fernando
Tatis Junior three home runs. It is first three at
bats the Padres of one eight in a row. The
(01:05:31):
Diamondbacks have lost twenty four in a row on the road.
That's a modern day major League record, and finally, in
college baseball, NC State has been disqualified from the College
World Series, the move announced late Friday night because of
COVID protocols, sending Vanderbilt out of a College World Series
(01:05:51):
championship round against either Texas or Mississippi State. You know
coaches in Mississippi State these days, don't you, Holland Little
I like the little President. I don't know if it
was let me here again? Out was it was supposed southern?
Or who is? Are you on the hit? Hey, Holland?
(01:06:14):
Michael fay me ten push up? He was one of
my coaches. Okay, how uh well, I just gotta be
u c l A right here we go. Yeah, Ben
hot with me. Yeah yeah yeah. He had a good
run down there. All right, Isaac, We appreciate it, man,
Thank you, thank you very much. Uh speaking of you
(01:06:37):
mentioned Isaac, you mentioned Chauncey Billups. Congratulations to him. Uh,
Mr big Shot. I'm obviously very biased because coming from
the Detroit area, was a massive Pistons fan and they
were my um it's funny tent was no. I mean
that that squad that I'm sorry I'm saying that Detroit
(01:06:58):
basketball squad by the way, I'm looking at that and
one of our TVs here you can't see because this
one's not facing you. There's a p b A uh,
some pro bowling association. There's a guy, a white guy
with a massive afro that looks like the dude they
used to paint what's his name again, Bob Bob Ross.
He looks like Bob Ross right now? Is not to
the point? Are we sure it's not Bob Ross's son?
(01:07:22):
Pretty sure? Somebody get on that. That's like the star
of bowling. That guy is always on TV. Why don't
I know him? Then I heard Isaac, Isaac, who is it?
I heard you screaming through the through all the way
in the studio there, I mean in the control room.
What was that? It is my job to know things
like this, And the reason I know it is not
because I'm at a computer with a fast connection and Google.
(01:07:43):
The guy's name is Kyle Troop and among his nicknames,
you guessed it the pro with the fro and as
you mentioned, the Bob Ross of bowling, Kyle Troopers is now. Yeah,
I'm looking at him right now. He's pretty good and he,
I mean, the fro is super like that's clean. He yeah,
that's a nine. That nineteen seventies six flow frow right there.
(01:08:04):
I appreciate this fro. He put a lot of work
into that. Man. All right, thank you for educating me
on that. But Chauncey billups again. It looks like congratulations
to him. Uh he's gonna be a coach in Portland now. Um,
it looks like that's gonna be his destination. And it
seems like, uh, he was kind of on that track
to be a coach, spending time obviously with the Clippers. Um,
(01:08:25):
just one of those guys super respected around the league,
had everyone's respect. You just mentioned him earlier, Ryan, without
even like knowing kind of where the conversation was gonna go.
You just mentioned him. You said, hey, he was the
guy for those who may be just joining, because you
said he was the guy on your that Clipper team
that even though you had Blake Griffin who was a star,
and Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan and you know, all
the other players, you said he was the guy that
(01:08:46):
was like, hey, hey, hey, you know, could have those conversations,
could kind of rally the team, could go to Chris Paul,
who was obviously one of the better leaders of the
last fifteen years in the NBA and can go to
him and say, hey, man, we need to do this,
we need to calm down, We needed this, that and
the other. So Chauncey Billips kind of fits that piece.
Let me ask you this, Jason Kidd is gonna be
playing coaching down there somewhere where he played and Dallas
(01:09:07):
played a couple of stints there. Obviously won a championship
back in two eleven. Was it um uh with the
Mavericks And before Lee's leaving, Rick Carlisle said before he
took the job with Indiana, he said, man, guys, get
Jason Kidd. I coach. Jason Kidd, I coached looka Don Dontress.
There's obviously so many similarities between being bigger guards who
can get the team involved, get a bucket, the whole nine.
(01:09:29):
He said. They that'd be a great match. I was
looking at his record. Uh, Chauncey Billips is like a
like a around a hundred eight games wins and like
a hundred and nineties something losses. So he's below five
hundred um nine and thirteen I believe it is in
the postseason, doesn't have a lot of success got fired
(01:09:49):
a couple of times, Ryan, What is it about Jay
Kidd that we all is it the mind where we
go like we all saw him and we know he
was a basketball savanna as far as knowing how to
run an offense? It that because it isn't like he
is a world I'm not gonna say that. It's not.
He has a lot of success with on the court
as a coach, on the sidelines. That should say, So,
(01:10:11):
what is it about that we all call Jake Kidd?
Like that would make sense Jason Kidd? Like because I
I do it, Jake Kid would be there, He'd be
great there, Like what is it that? And and the
follow up question for you is do we do you
guys as players love playing for ex players or kind
of the guys who or let me rephrase that X
star players because you have guys like Terry Stouts who
(01:10:33):
was a player, Rick Carlisle was a player, but they
weren't you know, you weren't stars, they were just guys.
Or or do you like the name a Chauncey Billips
a adjacent Kidd? Right? Um, you know other guys who
have been bigger names, Steve nash Well here's the deal.
I played with Chauncey Billips and I played with Jason
Kidd also, and they both already just have leadership qualities
(01:10:58):
on the court that you grab it Tay too as
a player, and just certain guys have that in them
to where it's not a surprise that many become head coaches.
So Juwan Howard, when I played with him, he was
already a mentor, Hey do this, Hey, do this? Get here?
This is when coach wasn't looking dog like. This wasn't
you know, you know, hey man, we're not We're not
(01:11:21):
fighting through the screens like what dog say that to
me in Pride. That's not Jowan Howard, That's not Jason Kidd.
And so many times Jason would put me in situations
where I could be successful in the court, or he'd
see a play before it was coming. I remember one
time I was coming off a down a backpick. There
was a play we had with running backpick and the
(01:11:42):
play is almost never there. And I remember coming off
the back pick against Utah and no, actually against I'm
thinking Paul Millstop because he wasn't one guarded me. It
was against Atlanta and Jason Kidd was darn there at
half court taking the ball abouts and as I'm coming
off the pick, I just go to jump up in
the balls in the air dog Kelvin the balls in
(01:12:03):
the air before I even get off the screen, like
it ain't like I see it, and then I go jump.
It's like it's in the air as I'm going and
I dunked the basketball. But like Jason Kidd had that
type of vision in which we can't question, but he
has these intangibles behind the scene of a leader in
which you know he's a great head coach. I think
the situation in Brooklyn, he was too close and hated
(01:12:26):
to Paul Pierce and Kevin Garner and those guys, so
that went work and they were they were beyond their time.
Um in Milwaukee. People don't get it. He doesn't get
enough credit for building ghanness onto the co's. That's because
your center didn't get put at point guard and get
placed all around the court at that time in the NBA,
(01:12:48):
and you had to take your lumps with Janice. Well
with that, but that's a great point. But I'm under like,
why then fire him? Like why is he he's coming up?
Janice is only gonna get better. We gotta system here,
we got something we can see the future in. Why
why let him go? Well, it was it was never
I just put it like this cover and I said
that with Jason Gettle, was never a question of basketball there.
(01:13:11):
You know, like as a coach, you wear so many
different hats. You have to be on the same page
with your GM, with your president. You know, you gotta
with Mark Jackson, Yeah, you gotta move accordingly. So with
a couple of these coaches, never a question of basketball.
And then one of the great things that Jason Kidd
did do is he humbled himself as an assistant coach.
See a lot of coaches in Jason's position wouldn't to
say I'm gonna be an assistant coach. Chauncey Billups had
(01:13:34):
to realize, I'm not going straight from ESPN to the
big seat. Okay, Steve Kurt worked out for Mark Jackson,
did it. Maybe they didn't like how Mark Jackson did it,
so they're not gonna let me do that. So I
gotta show that I can be an assistant before I
can be ahead. So his name, his name, Chauncey's name
was always thrown out in the hat. To me, and shaunsaid,
we spoke about it. We had him on the opinion
(01:13:55):
Ate of seven for this podcast and kind of you know,
express those things. But Big Shot was always that guy
in the locker room with me. He'd always say, Hey, Ryan,
you know it's crazy. He would give me like the
coaches talk like. He was like, Hey, Ryan, I know
you're seeing spot minutes become playoff time. We're gonna be
leaning on you heavily. And I'm like, dog, aren't we teammates?
Like that's the like the coaches pulling you in the
(01:14:16):
office and say that. But Chauncey was always having those conversations, Hey,
this is what we need for you. I needed to
rememb run Dog, Like you gotta go get everything at
the rim for us, like he would tell myself and
Blake Griffin and Chris Paul. He would tell us where
to go, what what he needed from us. So those
guys aren't accidents when they become head coaches. Yeah, he's
(01:14:36):
one of those guys we all knew. You kind of
saw it, man, he just got so much respect. Um Again,
I got to see it firsthand as as a fan
of the Pistons, and I was actually working for the
the station, the radio station back then. That was when
I got I wasn't even I was like a ROADI essentially,
you know, promotional assistant. It was when I first said
I'm gonna do radio, and they were like, great, grab
(01:14:58):
those banners, those key chains and do this. And it was,
you know, it's funny, it was a great job. I'll
say this. I say this before we break real quickly. Yeah,
were winning, well, so watch this. So imagine being from
the city. You know obviously you being from here in
l a Um and you know you have you love sports,
specifically basketball, and you get to work for the sports
station that sends you to the game. This was my
(01:15:19):
role on these days. They would say, hey, Kelvin, you
want to schedule to work this Pistons game. They're gonna
be playing the Philadelphia sent me sixers against ever since,
and my role was to take the station truck, you know,
full filled up with the goodies, and I get to
the to the arena Palace Auburn Hills, and I get
there early because even though I'm just a lowly promotion assistant,
I got a media pass that that that's the same
(01:15:41):
thing that he has that he has. It even Stephen A.
Smith has right, and I come out old at the
time twenty four maybe yeah, And I get to come
in and I get to go eat in the press
ruin and I always have dinner for you. So I'm
eating there and George Blaha would be like the chick
hern or the you know of the for the Pistons.
(01:16:01):
George Blaha was there and I'm like, it's George blow
and he's sitting there eating and I'm eating. And then
as they're warming up, the team's warming up, I get
to watch him and hang out and then I gotta
go and get to watch the game. I just sitting
there and watching the game, and then halftime. My job
was to go set up where the radio guys would
do their post game show. That's all I was really
there for. You go put up the little folding table,
(01:16:23):
hold on, put up one speaker, throw up a couple
of banners that had the local station, put out a
few key chains and pins for people, and that was it.
But I get to go to Pistons games. So you
had this amazing voice and then like, yo, go set
up the banners. Oh yeah, you gotta pray your dudes, bro,
you're listening right now. Yeah, exactly Street Team. But are
you listening right now? Who Whatever it is you may
(01:16:44):
be wanting to do, could be radio, TV, could be insurance,
could be Satals, It could be at Turney set up
the banners, you young boys. Let me tell you something.
You can't want all of the spoils without any of
the toil. Okay. You can't want the the winnings in
the trophies without having to put in all the hard work. Okay,
you see the dirt underneath my fingernails. I put mine in.
(01:17:05):
I put a lot of hard work. They are a
little you know what it is. Yeah, they're a little
slap them. Put them, put the toils. Put the girls
coming around? Hey, don't Sam, do you know that story?
About to tell that story again? That's an embarrassing story.
I want to say, were you listening on the way
and tell the truth. Don't give us a little bit.
(01:17:27):
I want, I want. I want to throw this out too,
And I want you guys, Sam and Ryan to get
ready for this and Isaac two over there, uh to
have your answer. Who is on your mount rushmore of sports,
not NBA or m MLBA specifically, because it can be
it can be any sports, give me a collective of sports?
All right? Who's on your Mount Rushmore? Because if somebody
you're probably not gonna have on your list? Who you
(01:17:47):
should talk about that next? Fox Sports Radio. Alright, So
Jason mcintary show, Ryan Hollands, Colvin Washington with you. All right,
So answer this, Ryan, I see you running out to
see how we saw Ryan running? We did, and we said, Sam,
we didn't. I crawled in. Yeah, that you may have.
You may have been Ryan Hollands as a roommate that
that you were talking about. All right, it wasn't a
(01:18:09):
running joke. It was a crawling. Crawling but this guy. Hey, hey,
let me see say the jokes for me. All right,
I'll do the jokes right. No, alright, So Isaac are
you there? You're listening to I'm here? All right? Ready
to go? Ready? All right, we'll start with you brother.
The question for those joining us, thank you for listening,
by the way, Fox Sports Radio here on this Saturday.
I asked you, who are your like you know, the
(01:18:30):
Mount Rushmore of American sports, not not globally or anything,
just here in the States. Isaac, you want to start,
set it off, go ahead, I'll preface this by saying,
I'm on Twitter at Isaac Lowan Crawn, Come at me, haters.
Here we go, Vin Scully, Vin Scully, Chickern Magic Johnson,
Wayne Gretzky. Can you tell them from Los Angeles? Man,
(01:18:54):
come at that? There is no Uh, you didn't even
remotely try to hide your own bias. I mean you
you you just said you're gonna take all of this
l A right there. I'm not mad at that. Although Okay, okay,
couldn't you if you're gonna keep it, l A, couldn't
you have said of Sandy Kofax or uh at this point?
Maybe a Clinton Kershaw? Hey, hey, feel free to come
(01:19:16):
with George Blah how like you did in he Hits It.
You don't even know nothing about George Blah. All right,
don't disrespect George. Okay, don't do it like that off
the high glass. Okay, those are his phrases. Okay, that's
how we did it. Oh, he's still doing it. I'm
not sure George Blahi is not in the refrigerator somewhere.
They just we got a game tonight, bring George out
the refrigerator, and they just put him out there at
(01:19:37):
this point because he has to be a hundred nine
years old. George Black. He still does Michigan State football,
Michigan State football games. He still does the Pistons games.
It's remarkable. All right, Ryan, quickly go you're four. I
wanted to put Ven as well, but I will also
put Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, and Tiger Woods. Okay, Uh, Sam,
(01:19:57):
I had uh. I don't really have any argument with that.
I have Brady MJ. I'm gonna say Nick Saban. And
then here's an an unconventional one from my hometown, Dan Gable,
who won a bunch of wrestling titles at Iowa. Okay,
shout out to day Gable. I'm I don't, I do wanna.
I do want to smack all of your list real quick,
because you do keep putting coaches in there. What what
(01:20:18):
are these coaches? What is specification? No, but that's it's
your list. But how is Nick Saban? He ain't played
Nan down, he didn't get the ball. All right, Ryan, Uh, listen,
We're going Brady okay, because he owns football. We're going
(01:20:38):
to Lebron, We're going to Michael. So you have two
NBA guys. Okay. Interesting for me and be a guy
might have to, and I'm gonna go. I don't think
there's enough respect on Gretzky's name. Okay, not made, there's
a respect. Could easily be Tiger I could easily be
(01:21:01):
Venus Williams. I could easily be Lancelot. So first. So
here's mine, you guys, mission on all four of you
that I want to do what he was known for.
I want to punch y'all. Mohammed Ali, Muhammed Ali, the greatest,
Muhammed Ali, Michael Jordan's, Serena Williams, Tiger Woods. Those are
(01:21:21):
my four. I brought this up because we're out of
time now. But somebody who needs to eventually possibly make
this list is Simone Biles. Have you did you, guys
see her floor routine and what she's done. The gap
between her in second place and anything she does is
wider than I think anyone in their sport or that
they've done. That gap is just inside. We don't talk
about Jim jimnastics except for every four years unless you're
(01:21:43):
child's in it. But the gap between her and second place,
there's no wider gap than anyone else who did anything else.
In my opinion, Is that fair though, because everybody's not.
You gotta kind of be built like that, like you
see a child like Saban Sah, I'm said Nick Saban,
all right, I don't want to hear it. Cras back
the playoffs next. Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports Radio has
(01:22:04):
the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all

Hopefully you're making it a spectacular one. Brian Hollands has
just mentioned there myself Covid Washington in on the Jason
McIntyre show. Uh, we got an hour left. Been a
(01:22:26):
great couple of hours so far. Uh. I want to
get back to NBA finals. By the way, Ryan producer, Ryan,
not you, Hollands. Uh, Marcelus Wiley will be joining us shortly, beautiful.
Uh just texted him because I didn't realize by me
not looking at Twitter for a moment, you guys are
having an entire conversation about me, Like I'm not sitting
six ft away from you, Ryan Hollans. Yeah, we're trying
(01:22:48):
to get Kobe and Shot back together. Man. And when
the greatest uh afternoon drive shows of all time. We
had our moments. We had our moments, that's for sure.
Um yeah, by the way, have like a what was
the last show? Like did you miss? I remember vividly
because there was nothing, uh ceremoniously about it. It was just,
(01:23:10):
uh the end of the show, you know, it's do
you know they're gonna move on from you. So the
way it worked, he and I we had the perfect
shift for m getting a lot of time off if
like the you know, because the Lakers station. So if
the if they were playing an East Coast team, we
would have the day off. Or if they're playing a
(01:23:31):
Central coast or a mountain time we would have a
shortened show. So it happened to be we ended up
having a they were going to play some East Coast
seen the next day. So the on a Wednesday, blah
blah blah, how are you crazy? All right, it's Marcella's
talk to you later, see you on Friday. They never
saw me on Friday ever. Here I got a call
on a Thursday, Hey can you come in? You don't
(01:23:52):
get the call to come in on your off day.
So I knew, but but not most things in life,
the writing was on the wall, you know what I mean? So,
uh it wasn't. I wasn't. I can't act like I
was like what no way was you know? You know
I did some of that some of those last Sports
Nation shows before Big Dog took the bag, that big
(01:24:13):
bag and like Dog you already know Big Dog has
Marcella's has so much keeper railing them. Dog like in
between the shows and on the hair like he was
just I was like, I just I just shut up
and sat back. I was like, oh, are you saying
that he knew it was? It was he was out.
He just had so much a gangster in him. Dog
(01:24:34):
was just popping up like yo, extra therese extra you
know zeros in your bank account that I sound like, Yeah,
that'll that'll do that to you. Big time win. I
think it was one five ninety one for the Bucks.
They tied the series up with the Hawks. Uh, big game.
(01:24:54):
You can run of those games where the numbers won't
do a justice as far as like yannas at twenty
five points. Um, you know, the good games from everybody,
But the fact of the matter is it was the
whole entire team that came to play from the jump. Uh,
this wasn't a second half adjustment from jump. They had
an energy that the Hawks just could not match. When
(01:25:15):
asked how they held tray tray Young the fifteen sixteen
points or nine turnovers, he mentioned that, you know, they
just had energy from the jump. They just came right out.
He said. They didn't even really attack me differently. They
just had better energy. And they kept that same pace
for the remainder of the game. Uh So, big time
credit to the Bucks were coming out and getting right
(01:25:36):
to it and not messing around, uh and taking care
of business um for them again, holding tray Young to
fifteen points nine turnovers. Uh. He And here's a key
part two. He only drew one file and I thought
that was huge. He only drew one file because he
has been known to be like the new fresh blood
(01:25:57):
Harden you know, draws a lot of files. They do
a different how they draw those files. But he draws
a lot. And he only drew one file. And if
you're if if he's not drawing files, getting guys and
files troup with getting easy points at the free throw line,
maybe changing the pace of the game a bit, Uh,
then he was for sure and an effective Uh. In
that game. Uh So with that being said, now that
(01:26:18):
the series is tie tied one to one, I should say,
if you're the Hawks, and you know this from playing
in the league, it's always say, hey, we stole one
on the road. We did our job. Now we have
the home court advantage, right, we got three more games
potentially that will be in our in our home to
win this series. Also with the Hawks, I just looked
(01:26:38):
at that and said, for me, they just were outplayed.
Trey Young had been playing out of his mind. This
was kind of do right. The Bucks had had games
where they were in a lot of close games. They
were kind of due to blow a team out and
get it going. But I don't look at this Hawks team,
even though they're youngest, being scared of being shook or
being like they're out of it now, like now it's
(01:26:59):
a app and I'm not so sure. If you're the Bucks,
you can look in and say, hai, we broke the code.
We figured it out. Because I think Trey Young the
way he's built and I I'm assuming, uh, the the
things that he has had to go through, being all shorter,
I'm sure, being smaller, being lighter, you know, always being
the small guy gets pushed around lighter as in weight,
(01:27:21):
not complexing. I don't care about that, you know, I
was I was bi racial for a moment myself when
I got smacked. If you missed the show earlier, get
the podcast you you'll understand it was in the first hour.
A matter of fact, it was like the first sement. Um.
So I don't look at this Hawks team like I saw,
um their disposition. They're kind of like, all right, you
got us this one, you know what I mean, we
(01:27:41):
we got the John Collins kind of had an attitude
like he was mad, like man, you know, like almost
like bring on Game three. And I like that about
this Hawks team. They have some chip on the shoulder,
all right, you got us this time, We'll come right back.
And I think this is the type of team that
will be able to like wash that off and say
that happened. It was a bad outing. They had, they
had our number, they had energy. Credit the Bucks for
(01:28:03):
coming with the credit Bobby portis for him, isn't searching
in the game and bringing some energy and bringing some
effort to that team, and had to even have the
Bucks crowd screaming Bobby. But um, I like what I
saw Uh. I like typically what I've seen from this
Hawks team, whether it was the Knicks, um, you know,
whether it was the seventy six ers, they just kind
of keep going as is when lose blown out win
(01:28:24):
by one, they just keep trucking along. Yeah, Kelvin, No,
the best part about the Hawks being in the playoffs
for the first time is that you're absolutely right. They
don't know any different and Nate McMillan has been masterful
behind the scenes. Now mark my words, and we don't
know anything at all. We know Jani's into the COOPO
is gonna see a crowded lane and we're gonna see
(01:28:47):
if his shooters continue to be shooters. The Bucks did
that what they were supposed to do. They got slapped
in the face, They lost an embarrassing game. They didn't
have enough respect for the Hawks. But ultimately, if Yannas
Astakopo gets downhill like that, I don't want to say
they're unstoppable, but at sometimes, at some point, you want
(01:29:09):
to have to build a wall. And the game plan
was to play Yannice one on one, and he he
did anything that he wanted. And as much as I
want to remain optimistic for the Hawks, and I love
their season. I'm still gonna lean towards the Bucks. The
Bucks anger you and all of the former players and
(01:29:29):
analysts and contributors around the NBA, Kelvin because you don't
see the adjustments made from Bud. At times, Janice Andsokopo
will settle, but he's an intriguing player because you he's
not been Simmons. Where Ben Simmons has holes in his
game and he hasn't made efforts to change them. Jannis
(01:29:52):
has holes in his game, and this dude is doing
everything to try to be the best on the entire planet.
So you roll with Janice, but you STI will get
to a point of frustration where you go, Jannice, just
go be the best that you can be. So I
say that to say, with all the holes that Milwaukee has,
I still like them because it's their time And if anything,
(01:30:16):
I thought, Kelvin, they figured out who they were. Sometimes
in the NBA, the bad teams I played on, you
don't know who you are. The good team you know.
When I played with Like, we knew what KG was
gonna do. Rondo knew he was out there to facilitate
and if guys didn't have it rolling. You know, Rondo
knew he had to score a little more than he
normally would do. But I look at that Bucks team
(01:30:37):
in the last game, and they realized one thing, we
gotta get stopped and play defense and pushed the ball
down their throats like dude, like forget the half court.
Like they bought in and sold into who they were.
And I think that's enough, even though it's not really
good back. Like I don't get wild or amazed when
I watched, but I feel like them just being the
(01:30:58):
best form of them can get them to the NBA
Finals and beat the Hawks, even though I love the
energy that these young boys are coming with. So you
brought up great points. Uh, it is their time. And
we talked about this earlier in the show that look man,
the NBA. Now, let's not say that, let's say honest, Well, no,
I will say. I will say that because Chris Middleton
at this point, I'm sure he's tired of be right.
(01:31:21):
But what I mean, but we already know that the
story and the headlines is y honest. But I think
if you watch the Bucks team enough over the last
few years, you realize he can't get it done. It
well no guy can get it done alone. This year,
and say Lebron lost, and when when those young boys
were out there before they got traded away, they said
Lebron came to l A and didn't do nothing. But
but here's the difference. We look at Lebron and we
(01:31:42):
know he can do off like, he can do everything.
He can get it done. He alone, you know, can
take a team like the two thousand seven Cavaliers to
the finals. Right, he destroyed my pistons. I think we
all have looked at honest enough. In the postseason, you go, oh,
he definitely needs help. Like, oh, you see the laws,
you see the air balls, free throws, You see that
inability to to run an offense in the half court.
(01:32:05):
You see the inability to make quick decisions. Right, He's
a solid pastor, but he's not great. He doesn't get
guys involved like that. That's the difference between what you know,
the differences between he Lebron. Where you can go Lebron,
especially in his prime, you're like, hey, much you can't do.
I'm gonna need you to get this done. Jannest. You
clearly go, oh, he needs a shooter. Right, someone has
to put the ball in the hole. But but you're
(01:32:26):
right because he's a two time me. I agree with
this statement you made, but let's stay current day. Do
you give Janic's those same excuse excuses against the Hawks
because you can point out the holes in his game?
I agree with you, But can you give him grace
against the Hawks that say, like, no, no, you're right,
(01:32:47):
he has to get this done there. Listen, the road
Matt was paved, right. You can say he was getting
ready to go against a super team and Kyrie and Harden, well,
Kyrie goes down hard and wasn't even playing at He's like,
oh shoot, I gotta come and play. Uh, and he
tries to play and what he Hank pulls a hamstring,
rapped a back, I mean literally like the organist didn't
(01:33:08):
even get to go. And in the game before Harden
went out, he was Harden's out. What I didn't even
get to get into my groove? And now Harden was,
you know, shell of himself. Katie's pretty much alone. Joe
Harris forgot how to throw the ball in the ocean.
So Janice has no excuse, like this is the season
for him to get it done right, I mean, and
he'll have more opportunities. He's only twenty six years old.
(01:33:29):
Ish um who have more opportunity, But this was the
one where you you better get it now if you can,
because the Clippers are hobbled if they end up being
the team over there. The Sons are young, relatively young
the first time in the dance. Say for a couple
of players, you know you you're looking at it like this,
this better, This is the chance if it was Taylor
(01:33:51):
made for the Bucks and Jannice, this is it. Let's
take a phone call real quick. Let's go to uh, Stephen,
Let's go to Stephen. What's up, Stephen? What's up? Man?
Appreciate you calling. Yeah, I like you guys the show.
I love the content you're putting on. Thank you. Steve
gets to a brother, go in. Okay, okay, so you
you text said it already. You know this is it
(01:34:12):
must get done for Yana situation. Obviously, all the helmets
and the injuries across the league. He got to get
through the match without a full hearten with no Kyrie.
You know. Uh, obviously he does feel the puss and
he does need Chris Middleton. But my question is they're
gonna be safing a soft West team either way, and
really they should be bodying this. This Atlantic team, I mean,
(01:34:33):
Trey is killing it, no question asked. But they're the bigger, stronger,
more capable team and deeper and more experienced, so they
should be winning this. I'm just gonna go ahead say
they win this series. Now it's the West. Kauai is
not coming back. I'm gonna call that. I love the cloth,
love him. I'm in San Antonio fan, So I just don't.
I just don't know if this is really gonna you know,
(01:34:55):
ring loudly on his credibility as being the new up
and coming superstar the next burn if you will, if
they win this championship, and if they don't win it,
say well, we appreciate the call. Stephen. Um. I to
what I've seen from the honest over the last three
years is the time where you go, oh, he's just
(01:35:16):
not that guy. And I think there's a part of
us who actually all know who he is. It can
all empathize and relate. You see, the kid who came
in like a string being he was. He was obviously
you know, cut, but he put on weight, He worked hard,
he worked hard on the language. He didn't speak English
that well, he's worked hard on the language. He's worked
(01:35:37):
hard on understanding the game. You know, not only because
you gotta remember that, you have to understand the game,
like not just play it. You know this, what works,
what's the scheme, what's the system? How do you play
the game? Not just put the ball in the hoop.
But I think at times when I see him, I realized, oh,
he is a walking work in progress, and essentially we
(01:35:58):
all are in life. But when I watched Luca, even
his rookie year, I went, oh, you're a savant now,
maybe because even playing since he was thirteen, he had
the time to work on that, and he will still
work on I think the minute Luca decides to lose
some weight, getting better shape, you know, getting better uh,
you know, to get a great trainer, then he will
elevate his game. So they're still room to grow. But
(01:36:19):
when I look at you, honest, I think, for me,
why he'll never get the blame and get the of
a of a k d of a lebron, of a
Kobe that you know you can't do without shock and
all that kind of stuff, is because I think we
all quietly, even if you're from Milwaukee, you go, oh,
I see the flaws. Oh at that time, they're glaring,
and as a part of you that understands that, you
empathize with that, and you go, oh, yeah, he's not
(01:36:40):
one of those. And when you're one of those, which
is why Aaron Rodgers starts to get criticism right, because
you're one of those. Aaron Rodgers. Every year you're fourteen
and two, thirteen and three, twelve and four at worst?
Why why do you only have one ringing show? We
sit up here, say, Aaron Rodger, you you're the best
most talented quarterback I've ever seen, maybe saved for uh
your boy my home Pat Mahomes. Now you're the most
(01:37:02):
talented quarterback I've ever seen. Why don't you ever get
it done? Because you see it in you your mind goes, oh,
if anything that should be able to get it done,
his team is good enough to be thirteen three every
other year, why does he get it done? I think
we all see just to stay in the state of Wisconsin.
I think we look at Yannest and we all go, oh, yeah,
I see the flaws. Oh yeah, And I think that
(01:37:23):
cuts him some grace where the other players, other greats
don't get I mean now it does. I mean Kelvin.
You gotta keep in mind I went on National TV
two years ago and said he was overrated. Now forgive
the context because it seemed like I was attacking Yannice personally,
(01:37:43):
and it wasn't because I love his story, he's hard working.
I was attacking the people that were telling everyone he
was Lebron, he was KD. So it was never a
knock on that young brother's work ethic because I agree
with you, you you can't take anything away from what that
kid has came to. But my thing was, he's not
those guys, but respect him in his lane, and y'all
(01:38:06):
took him out of his lane. Two time m VP,
even the player. We love all that, but he's not
the playoff that what the way he played wouldn't work.
Didn't want to hear two years ago. Nowt of here, Now, well,
your profit prophecy may come true, but I'll tell you what,
you don't have to be one of those guys who
win the championship. It can still happen. We've seen it
happen before in all sports. So uh so, Tina's trying
to get their first championship now in the first Western
(01:38:27):
Conference Finals will be the Clippers their biggest cheerleader outside
of the Clipper Daryl. It's Marcella's widely. He's gonna join
us next looking forward to that Fox Words radio. All right,
let's get to him because he is on kitty duty
and I know how that goes. Trust me, I'm getting
ready to get your own kitty duty as soon as
I walk up by it. Here speak for yourself. Host
Marcella's widely biggest Clipper fan outside of the Clipper Darry,
(01:38:47):
I think, but you know what I wanted. Who is
bigger Clipper fan? Ryan? Ryan, Holland's Calvin Washington with you
as well? Uh, Marcellus, you're Clipper Darrow. Who's the bigger
Clipper fan? Is it gotta be You don't wear a clip,
you don't wear a Clipper underwear, so it can't be you. Man.
There's no conversation, no competition, and it's Clipper Daryl. Bro.
That dude is next level. He tripled O G When
(01:39:08):
I wasn't a Clipper fan because you know, I grew
up my dad was a Clipper fan, and I just
stayed on the fence because I had my own athletics
to pursue, and I wasn't tripping, but I did have
a little issue with l A just all being mesmerized
by that purple and gold. So I started looking at
the arkle and old like, man, I ain't messing with
them boys over there. Everybody, Hollywood, they waxed the games
(01:39:31):
of boring tent and sent everybody on their cell phones
Mama pearls in the front row. It's corny over there.
So I was like, it's my turn. I'm retired, let
me be a fan. So I picked when my daddy
already planned to seed Clips City, Chips City? What it too? Uh?
Hold on now, you you just there's a lot of
things you just said that we gotta fact check. Bro.
(01:39:51):
I feel like that was fake news right there, what
you just said. Hold on now, because because I'm trying
to think of the era in which the Lakers were boring,
but the Clipper weren't. I mean they were. I'll give
you Live City over the Lakers. I'll definitely get you.
I'll give you that. Appreciate that, Kevin. You hold on,
you thought I meant that they were losing. I said
(01:40:12):
they were born even in success. You got the Leaker
game even in success. It ain't a Clipper game. Clipper
game and they're throwing T shirts. They got cannons going
off d j's, people flipping kids going, it's a carnival game.
You got a leaguer game. You gotta make sure everybody
know you're there. You gotta hit folk selfies in three
I D stories and you're gonna look up and see
(01:40:34):
the game. I mean, Kylkus just came from the club.
It's just not the same, yo. Listen, listen. I can't
even defend Kyle Kuzin right now. I can't even I'm
trying to find something but Flint Town Mischigan there going,
I got something hang on, and you know what's funny,
Actually we all could defend Kyle Kuza the way he's
been playing. He ain't that hard to guard. I'm not
(01:40:59):
gonna let you. I'm hey, big dog. Listen for for one.
I'm kind of neutral now, but listen, Clipper Clipping Nation
gave me something that that not many other teams had
given me. Something Always thankful. But down O two, I
have faith they beat Luca. They didn't want to hear it.
(01:41:21):
Down oh two. I saw it was gonna beat you
tall down the Phoenix, oh two, I saw that last
game popping off. People didn't want to hear a lot
of people the Phoenix Fornix Phoenix, talk to me, what
did you see? Dog? When you believe and I saw
you had some tears on your on your I G
what's going on? Dog? You ain't like what you saw? Man.
(01:41:42):
Look man, first of all, Ryan Bro, you gotta have
the deepest respect for what's going on because they invested
in you, and I know how it feels when the
Chargers of the Bills do something. Man, it just hits
you different. You know. I love that and respect that
about you and your resume. Look, we don't wanna be
down oh two, but we will sacrifice the battle to
(01:42:03):
win the war. And it's a chess mass that Tyler
continues to win. People always say, and I only know
tylu In like personal settings, not basketball settings. But they
say his acumen is only second to Lebron, if the
second to Lebron. So he just continues to eximplify that
he knows what he's talking about, and the guys believe
(01:42:24):
him and trusting him. Plus he makes the hard decisions.
You know, when you have got a team and everybody
can ball and we're the deepest team left right now.
It's hard to tell a dude, all right, this game
you got five minutes. This game you got no time.
Next game you're starting. But guys are all buying in
this series. I think it's a rap. So I call
it like this man, I I renamed all all this
(01:42:46):
a four game series is a sweet. We know that
five games gentlemen, six games grown man, seven games gangster.
I think this is gonna be a grown man sweet
because they cannot figure out how we're defending than them.
Patrick Beverley after the first game, Devin Booker went out
there a little up before Pattri Beverley didn't really play
(01:43:07):
that game. If y'all watch fifteen minutes. Also, they six
pack to Beverley, they sixteen man on them. This dude
have combined only thirty five point ten of thirty seven
and blaming it on his mask. I was like, look,
I'm not no hater, I'm a Clipper lover, but being real,
looking at the numbers and looking at how it's really
going down, I don't think they gotta answer to the
way we defend them. I will say that you have
(01:43:28):
a great point with Pat Beverley. Uh, now here's how
I if not let me be the sons in this instance.
Monti Williams, a great coach, has shown it before. And
you could argue with culture of the Year. I think
he came in second this year. Here, you're right, Pat
Beverley is given Uh a matter of fact, it's almost
like Anita Baker song giving you the best. That guy,
I mean he has given Devin Booker the best that
(01:43:49):
he has. For sure. He is in his grill and
I think you can see the way they're chipping, they're
getting into it. Here's what I'm doing. You want to
talk about a mask man looking like fandom of the opera,
then let's go with Rip Hamiltons in right, the originator
of it. Right, nobody wore it better. Devin Booker always
said that was his favorite player growing up watching him.
Right guy run on screen, slim, you know, running around
the shooter. He needs to Monty Williams needs they need
(01:44:11):
to do that, run him around or run Patrick Beverley
through some big bodies and some screens. Devin Booker is
getting the ball a lot and wanted to go one
on one and do this and you know, try to
take it up Beverley, that's what he wants. Nobody wants
to run around screens all day chasing Reggie Miller, Clay Thompson,
Steph Curry, Rip Hamilton's and Devin Booker needs to do
that because also when you finally catch the ball, you
(01:44:32):
will have an advantage that Patrick Beverley will be chasing you,
and he will be he won't be set in his defense,
you get what I mean. So I'd be interested to see.
And that's the best part about playoffs is adjustments. At
some point, well, the sun's adjust to the way Pat
Beverley is playing Booker because he's winning that contest. It
reminds me of Dela Adova against Steph Curry. It's not
that Steph wasn't getting buckets at times. It was that
(01:44:53):
he made it hard. They got multiple issues. It's not
just that, you know what I mean. I always call
it the leaky water holes, and everybody's had a leaky
water holes. It starts off War one. You put the
great tape on and you think you're cool. Then you
look up. You got another league. You got another league.
Here's their problem. You can change your offensive flow and
your adjustments. They're fun but we're sprinkling not only Pats
(01:45:15):
with Beverley at Devin Booker, We're throwing Terence Man at
him and Team Man. All the scouts and the valuators
say it's just one tick under Kauai Leonard in terms
of his defensive presence to do the six ft five
young got, fridy legged, athletic and is long. So it's
a problem for Devin Booker because he's getting two different
(01:45:35):
versions of dogs attacking him. Now, if you Devin book
is still better than both of those guys, let's be real.
Devin Booker gets his buckets. Here's the bigger problem. And
I'm not the right guy to say this because Chris
Paul is the homie and I'm a Clipper lover, so
they think I'm hating when I say this. Chris Paul
is hurting that team because of his pace to play.
(01:45:56):
Y'all played the game. I never played basketball, so I
got a different version of how it all goes down.
I looked at them those two games without Chris Paul.
Then I realized their field goal perciage was higher, their
turnovers were down, and you also saw him score more points.
And everybody was like, oh, when Chris come back, It's
gonna be better. I was like, Nah, when Chris come back,
them dudes ain't gonna be the same version of themselves
(01:46:18):
and Chris don't slow the game down, and it's gonna
be a worse version. We saw that happen in Game three.
I'm going to the game tonight, Chris Paul gotta play
because no campaign probably watch what happens. We're gonna smoke
him again. Go ahead, I want to throw this out. Man.
We always gonna keep it a buck. We're gonna We're
gonna stay neutral and big Dog, you know we we
(01:46:39):
have a joke. But I got the utmost admiration for
your pro career, and I know you were You respect mine,
even though you don't express it sometimes when we we've
been on air, but you still my dog. Hey, Kawhi Leonard, Dog,
you've been in locker rooms. Me and Calvin both brought
up the point. I don't know if it's COVID protocols.
I don't know. I think we're trying to make up excuses.
(01:47:01):
Why is Kauai Leonard not on the floor. It's his
lack of leadership a problem right now, and personally, I
don't know, I'm not a medical expert. I think it's
just the what are the the smoking glass smoking whatever?
The thing is the marriage that that he's not gonna
I don't think he's coming back dog. But as a leader,
do you think he should be on the floor with
(01:47:21):
his guys rather than up in a box. I've never
seen a Yeah, you know, it's an interesting conversation. I
actually have seen guys in the suites. Maybe it's football.
I'm not sure if I've seen it in the basketball version.
I give you that, but certainly in football, especially the
severity of the injury, you gotta remember, they will throw
(01:47:42):
us up in there. Look, I've been injury pro my
whole career. I was so there were times I was
on the sideline. There were times I had injuries that
if I got excited, I couldn't contain myself or I
couldn't get out the way. Especially with COVID protocols, it
was smarter and safer for me to be removed. Kauai
is not a expressive guy anyway. He's not gonna be
(01:48:02):
the right rock guys, so his contributions may come through
him just talking to the coaches. But he's doing that
at half times. As ty Lewis said, he's already contributing
in that way, but being there physically on the sidelines,
I actually think there's more risk than reward when it
comes to Kauai. Here's the thing, though, this is why
this is all playing out like this. Why every single
(01:48:24):
game they're saying questionable and then they're like, he's out questionable,
he's out. Kauai has been through it before with injuries.
Y'all gotta go back to the San Antonio days and
him being misdiagnosed a couple of times. That's when he
fell out with the organization because they didn't respect that
he told him that he was injured. They said, play
through it. Y'all remembered it, and then they attacked him,
(01:48:47):
not only in his character, but they sent all the alumni.
Remember David Robinson and all them dudes woke up from
their slumber to talk trash about Kauhi. Leonard. Kauai did,
but he never forgot that experience, and the Clippers don't
forget that experience either. The reason why they're not declaring
these out for the entire playoffs, are trying to make
this huge conversation is because they're actually trying to protect Kauai,
(01:49:10):
who can opt out and get the SuperMac and potentially
even leave the Clippers. So this is a little more
than just he physically hurts or he's not the greatest leader.
It's a lot of the old bitterness that he still
possessed it that they're trying to protect. Has there more
danger with him being on the floor hareing his team
on big though. Oh I can tell you one. He
(01:49:30):
can't get out his own way. The dude gotta he
gotta torn adl Everyone tells me he has a torn
ad deal minor and it could be major. Now here's
the reason why minor to major matters. Your thought is
either do I rehab it or do I get the surgery?
And that's actually a dilemma too bad decisions because you
rather than just declare what you gotta do. Now, he's
(01:49:53):
sitting there like, damn, can I come back? Nah? All right?
What's rehab looks like? Remember Kevin Durant with you the
same situation. Do I rehab it? Do I get the surgery?
Can I come back? And we saw what happened with
Kevin Durant. If he's sitting there second, roll whatever it
may be, and Kauai ain't gonna say nothing. He ain't
gonna change who he is, and then he got to
get out the way for any situation, whatever that may be.
(01:50:14):
That's just unnecessary. It's not like and his potential of
helping the team. He ain't gonna grab no cheer leaving
pom poms. He ain't gonna say nothing. And they can
always communicate from a distance. Don't write these guys don't
have communication cell phones. He already talked to Kyle lou
throughout the game and at halftime. So I just don't
think it's necessary. I think it would be cosmetic, if anything.
(01:50:34):
If they well, sometimes you gotta put a little makeup on, Okay,
sometimes you gotta do a little bit. You know some
people you know and every now and again, and it's
a weird I will I will say, this is a
You're right that having him on the sideline is different
than having a Kyrie or having a Lebron where they're
gonna be able to cheer say some things to you.
I mean, I don't know. Having him on the sideline, well,
(01:50:55):
I would want him there to the point of that
he would add something because he can, like do you
want to get alade like that's the most you might
dog like, I'm calling Cap on you, mar Sells on
that one dog, I'm gonna let this thing Cap even
gotta follow it, and let me say one thing, let
me do my job a little bit. All right, here,
(01:51:15):
here's my opinion on because I forget I'm talking to
the homies and we actually getting paid to do this.
Let me give my real opinion on this. I think
Kauaii is done and I think the reason they don't
bring him to the sidelines because they're like, he's already done.
This team mentally need to move on. You know that
one thing, one thing wrong with my team, and I'm
gonna be real, is that we don't read the room properly.
(01:51:37):
We got all the talent, we got all the depth necessary,
but we don't know when it's time to activate all
the time. So Paul George needs to know this is
his team. Paul George needs to know when the moment
is something that you gotta rise to or you gotta
bring others to. And with Kauai there, it's just even
in optics and also in territory, you're still sharing that experience.
(01:52:00):
So if Kauai is really going we're protecting him because
he went through this experience in San Antonio before, and
he ain't a raw, raw guy anyway, what the hell
we got him down here for? You know what, even
if he got to get off the way, he ain't
gonna be able to move. So it just is nothing
beneficial about it. And I tell you what, man, that
(01:52:21):
was some of the best stuff you've ever said, because
you know, like I told you the other day, you
were talking about your wife shots ever ready like that
was you know, usually some hot they are coming out
of both holds from you, federally and literally. Yeah, I
had a show for years and I had to deal
with it, and ever saying dude, that was phenomenal. Normally
I would come at it. I was poke holes and
and all that, but that was actually saying he said,
(01:52:44):
Paul George gotta remember he's an alpha, not a beta.
And if Kauai on the floor, he's gonna feel like
I don't think he is. There is there another Aida
in the middle, because I don't think he's an alpha beta.
He don't he Omegafi something. Listen, listen, he I'll ended
with this. Appreciate you, man. I wanna take the time.
I know you got the kids and I don't know how.
We just want the whole segment and so long with
(01:53:04):
you without hearing the kids. What you got them in
the sleeper hole? Like what is going on? Man? I could,
I can? I got the little studio slash office, and
they know when I closed the door, leave me alone.
So you know him day over there, his bottom lifted
on the floor right now, he's so mad. He loved daddy.
All right, man, we gotta catch you up for sure.
I appreciate you calling and speak for yourself. Make sure
(01:53:24):
you're checking out money through Friday FS one. Marcello's wily man. Thank,
I can't believe he usually I give him some jokes
and roast him and tell me that was I don't
have he kept in a buck he went all the way.
But that all right, Marcellers, make it out this man
that was that ain't not gonna see you later after
birthday party. You're going to have birthday part. I we'll
see you there. Then shout out to the other Kennedy
(01:53:44):
signs to the other Kennedy getting some love on the radio.
I got some hours to come up and poke holes
in his his theory. I got hours to do that,
all right, I'll do it then. All right, um, so
are you tell me Ryan producer, Ryan Isaac? Go to
I Zack now, but I don't know time we'll be doing.
What do you want me to do? Go to Isaac?
All right? Here's what Isaac Isaac when in doubt, When
(01:54:09):
in doubt, you gotta throw the blame around. That's what
we do in this business. And sports guys, We're gonna
start with some real brutal injury news just breaking in
Major League Baseball. The Atlanta Braves just announced that starting
pitcher Mike Sarocca has retorn his achilles tendant. Now. Sarocca
was an All Star back in but then tore his
(01:54:31):
achilles last August. Then this past Thursday, he was simply
walking through the clubhouse when he felt a pop in
the achilles, and an m r I then confirmed that
he had re torn it. Sportico reported today that Los
Angeles Dodgers owners Mark Walter and Todd Bailey are purchasing
a twenty seven percent steak in the Los Angeles Lakers
(01:54:54):
from billionaire Philip and Shoots. That's worth approximately one point
four billion dollars The deal also includes the right of
first refusal if the Bus family ever decides to sell
the Lakers. And finally, Calvin and Ryan, we have some
fresh audio from a story that we brought you a
little earlier. You know, so great to finally have fans
back at sporting events again, but today we had a
(01:55:17):
real unfortunate drawback to that. It happened in the opening
stage of the Tour de France. As the pack was
riding by, a fan on the side of the road
was holding up a big cardboard sign for the TV
cameras that read in French a lez op omi that
roughly translates to high grandpa and grandma. Unfortunately, that fan
(01:55:41):
was holding part of his sign right over the road
and it clipped one of the writers as they went by,
causing an enormous chain reaction crash. Here is how it
sounded as it happened on NBCs N Listen, Oh, this
happened right by to the road that look at this that.
(01:56:02):
I don't know what's happened that it maybe they clipped
the crowd, but whatever has happened, they are in the
right mess down at the moment. Now, how many riders,
Let's hope that is a massive crash. Bob, Oh, my goodness,
may Oh. It was the sign that the ride in
front hits. Crash was estimated to involve between sixty and
(01:56:24):
ninety riders, and it was also estimated by observers to
be the biggest crash they'd ever witnessed in toward the
France history. On a related note, the Cardboard Sign has
just agreed to a free agent deal with the Detroit Lions.
So oh boy, thank you Isaac for everybody got to
the stand up. We may just do a whole little
(01:56:45):
Fox Sports radio stand ups show one day. I'll be
down to do that, all right, Thank you guys for that.
And by the way, I saw that crash. You didn't
get a chance to see live, but I think kind
of I had replaying here, And man, I mean you
you were right. It was like eighty bicyclists just falling
all over the I mean, I would be so many. Listen, man,
that man better move, he better go move with grandma
and grandpa and hide somewhere. All right, let's take a
(01:57:07):
quick break and uh, we'll come right back. We'll throw
a button up on this thing. Ryan Hollands, Calvin Washington,
Fox Sports radio. What's you Sam, you were here with me.
You just went all the way up here with me
with this one. Oh yeah, all right. Discover matches all
the cash back your on credit cards at the end
of the first year. It is amazing because discovers accepted
(01:57:27):
at places in the US that take credit cards. They're
more Discover dot com slash Yesson Report limitations apply. Last
little bit for the Jason McIntire show, kelvin Washington, Ryan
Hollands with you. I appreciate you joining us. Are listening
the last couple of hours thanks to Marcella's widy for
joining us. By the way, look, I just talked to him, said, hey, man,
that was some good stuff. I don't believe half of
(01:57:49):
what you said, but that was some good stuff. I
will say this, and somebody tweeted us up. See if
I can get to it quickly to show him some love.
I don't like the fact that, yes, you know, Kauai
is different, right, we all can establish that. Right, He's
had his own kind of set of rules. He likes
to do things his own way. He's created an environment
where organizations kind of know that, hey, if you bring
(01:58:11):
him in, this is what this own him and Uncle Dennis.
They got a game plan this is that's what they're
gonna do. But brother, I would love to see you there.
That was Mason Mueller. The Glenn my man Glenn tweeted
us that basically said, this is why uh Kauai is
showing us exactly who he is and why he's never
quote that dude like Lebron. And I don't even want
to necessarily bring Lebron into it as much as just
(01:58:34):
it is kind of weird. When you look at the
Clipper team, they're one of the rare teams that the
coach might actually be the leader usually, Like if you
look at the Lakers, not the vocal isn't a leader,
But Lebron is a leader, right, you know that? And
you know you look at maybe it was Rondo as
well last season when they had Rondo. You look at
the Mavericks, you know lucas the leader. Not saying there's
(01:58:57):
not an older veteran that has a say for sure,
but you know who the leader is, right. You can
tell on that next team, Kyrie in his own weird
way as a leader for at least some guys, and
you can obviously maybe k D as a leader as well,
but you can just see it and man man maybe
Harden to an extent as well. You go around a team,
you can tell Janice is a leader. Yes, p J. Tucker,
I bet you adds a lot to that locker room.
(01:59:18):
But you can tell you honest, when I look at
that Clippers team, I'm like, is the leader Pat Beverley
if you're picking a player, because ultimately I think Tyron
Lou is the leader. And that's just rare when an
NBA team where the star matters so much, Right, I'm
not saying that it's not. I mean, if it's thirty teams,
I'm sure maybe Tyron louis one guy. Actually look at like,
(01:59:42):
if you said our Clippers post game, who do you
want to hear from? Actually wanna hear from Tyron Loup.
Clippers post game. They want to get the thoughts on
how they're gonna I want to actually hear from Tyron Loup.
Clippers need motivation to win Game four, to get this
thing tied. I want to hear with Tyro Tyron Lou
wants to do. That's not a lot of That's not
often the case in a lot of these teams in
the NBA. UM you know it's rare, right if you
(02:00:04):
go to the Suns and Mighty was a heck of
a leader, Like I mean, if my daughters played for
you know him, I go, yes, But you want to
hear what Chris Paul is gonna say, right, you want
to hear and Devin Booker starting to establish yourself where
you're like, oh damn, let me hear the Devin Booker
has to say. Uh, Donovan Mitchell's turned into that leader.
You want to hear what he has to say. Or
maybe it's a Mike Conley, But man, I look at
this Clipper team. I just don't see the natural born
(02:00:25):
leader out there when I was there Achilles Hill last year,
going through all the things and the bubbles and guys missing.
It normally comes from the players, um or it should
be in these situations. I don't want to say. I
want to say there's a collective group of leadership. And
that's what I think Marcelis was alluding to with Kauai Leonard.
(02:00:46):
He's a silent leader. He's a different type of leader. Uh.
You know when I played in Boston, Ray Allen was
more kind of a silent leader. You know, KG was
our loud leader. Paul was our leader on the floor.
He had he gave us that hockey confidence is what
we've seen uh this far, But it does come from
Tyler knows how to talk. That talk. He talks the
(02:01:06):
locker room talk, the player talk, the coaches talk. He
knows his accident and ols. He's the trifectis. So that
is an excellent point where you know, you don't look
at you just look at Ti for who Tie is.
And like I said, I was with ty and Boston,
I was with Tied with the Clippers. He the same dude, bro.
So there's no confusing that you can't talk to him
or vibe with him. You gotta think he has connections
(02:01:29):
to play with Michael Jordan's play with Kobe Bryant coach.
Lebron got a championship as a player, championship as a coach.
Dog he may be the most certified in the league
that we're not talking about behind Gregg Popovich as a coach.
Uh No, I mean, you know, angle know the angle
(02:01:53):
you just brought as far as having been around the
greatest of the greats literally Jordan's, Lebron and Kobe um
and having that ability to have been a player who
been a role player has gotten lit up by players iverson. Uh,
you know he's going through He's going through everything. I
say that kind of tongue in cheek, but I mean
he's gone through everything. Right, He's been down three one
(02:02:14):
in the series, he's coming back. His team's keep being
down oh two, and they keep coming back. They win
to night there, they'll be through a third time that
they've been able to do that. So you gotta give
him some credit for sure. And that's why I said,
I look at this, this Clipper team, and I was like,
there's their leader, is actually their coach. And I know
that's sometimes raring sports because usually it's you know, it's
Tom Brady as Papa Home. You know, there's other guys,
it's Russell Wilson. It's their leader, is actually their coach.
(02:02:36):
But real quickly got like ten seconds. So tonight do
the Clippers tied up make it too too or do
they go down three one? Clippers tied up? Clippers tied up?
I'm going Clippers. Actually they lose five. That's how I
see it. All right, folks, we had a good time.
Hopefully if we said anything crazy to reach out to us,
do you Ryan Hollands on Twitter at live
