How you doing big as Dad, I'm doing great.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
It's so great to be back here on the show
with you. Thanks for lett me do this. I guess
the first show ended up being okay because they asked
me to come back.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Maybe nobody else okay, well, maybe nobody else wanted to
do it. I guess so a lot of people don't
like working with You're hard to work, really hard. I
understand that.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Did you got this attitude Sometimes there's sometimes you're done.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
I feel for Jeff I really, Oh my goodness. All right,
right away, you're starting the fireworks beginning. Look, I'm going
to say one thing. The intro here of the show,
the open said nepotism at its best. I want to
let everybody know this is nothing to do with nepotism.
You were a radio star in Cincinnati. You were known
as Alex Midnight, correct.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Right, And now you know I don't I wouldn't say
a radio star, but it's definitely not nepotism. I've worked
my butt off to be here, Dad, and anyone who
else who says otherwise.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
They're wrong. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
I worked for WBE, Cincinnati country music major station here
in Cincinnati for the past five years, and that's really
when I got, you know, my chops. I went to
school Thomas Moore University, got a communications degree, and then
just started working my way up.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
And now I'm here with you.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
I've always wanted to be in radio, always watched you
do your thing. Oh my god, I was a kid, Mandy.
My dad is having so much fun. I want to
do exactly what he's doing. And now I'm here and
I love it.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Okay, but now that you hear I did say. Coming
onto this segment, we got some ground rules to cover,
and I think that you need to list to these
ground rules. You know, you go to a Major League
baseball game, you see the umpires always together at home
plate looking at the various dimensions in the field, because
every field has a different dimensions, so there's different ground rules. Okay,
so we got some ground rules here as well. First,
here's the deal. I'm always right if I'm wrong. You know,

(02:17):
you don't say them right most of the time. I
am right, but I'm always right, and you'll have to
learn that when we work together. Okay, if you're wrong,
I'll call you as to just grit your teeth. Just
grit your teeth. So I'm always right. And look, honestly,
there's not going to be much yelling at the old man.
Your promise, not nothing much yelling. I'll hold all the time.
You may disagree, that's okay, that's what sport's all about.

(02:40):
We could agree to disagree, but we don't have to
be disagreeable, right right, Okay, we'll do that fair, fair,
anything else you'd like to add, as far as we
would like a chance to talk. Dad.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Oh my god, I would like a chance to talk.
I felt like, you know, I didn't get a word
in edgewise last time. Let me get a chance to
talk today. Go all right, go ahead.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Okay, here I go. Now. I want to share a
couple of things because here's where you and I differ
with two different people. Okay, not just the age situation,
really different because I'm a sportsman, I'm a fan. You
are a jock. There's a different mindset. Okay, And what
do I mean by that? High school? And I'm not
here to brag, but there's your facts. You played football,

(03:17):
you're on track, and you're wrestled college. You played football,
all right, So there's a different mindset between being a
sportsman and a fan and a jock. What do I
mean by that? When I played softball and they didn't
really play competitively when we played, I would pray that
they wouldn't hit the ball. To me, that's well, really
that's the way I was, because you know, I'm not

(03:37):
I'm not an aggressive, confident guy, especially the last inning
of a winning Please don't hit the bull. And I
don't want to be the last guy up. You want
to be the last guy you. I think thrive on
that stuff. There's a different mindset between being an athlete
and a fan, and I'm a fan.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
I think with athletes it's the competitiveness. You know, when
I was playing sports, I was so competed. There's a
drive to win, and I think there's it's just something
that you have in you and you just want to
say I don't have it. Well, it's some people have
a dad and then some people don't. And when you
have that drive to win, you have that drive to

(04:14):
be the very best, compete at the very best, at
the highest level that you can possibly compete at. And
that really that that's a huge difference between what an
athlete has or a jock, is what you would say
versus maybe what a fan has.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Fan just enjoys to get a figures will stand it,
you know, in the words, you sit in the stands
in a baseball game and a guy would strike out
three times, Hey he's a bum. He's making X amount
of dollars. In my kid, it's difficult. It's very understanding.
I would watch you at a wrestling match, right, I
couldn't do the First of all, I would never wear
that uniform. There's no way on God's green Earth I
put that on. There's no I wouldn't wear that out

(04:48):
of my house. I never mind the public. I never
minded wearing Well, you have the physique for it, I don't.
I would never wear that. But the point is that
to go one on one, look at a guy in
the eyes and say I want to pin you. I
couldn't do it. I just couldn't.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
It's just when when you're in the wrestling match, you're
you're looking at your opponent and you're just thinking to yourself.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
I'm not gonna let you beat me. I'm gonna beat you.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
With every ounce of muscle that I have, with every
technique that I've learned, I'm going to outmaster you. And
that's the competitiveness of every athlete that every athlete has.
And sports fans, I think they just like watching the sport,
rooting for their home team. It's more of a like
a symbolic kind of thing, if you will, with the fans.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
And especially now with the gambling aspect, because you could
take your cell phone to any event and gambled throughout
the game. I think that makes it popular too, right.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Well, it makes it makes watching the sport. Maybe, uh,
there's it just adds a different spin to it. I
don't know. Gambling, I don't know. I still kind of
feel iffy about gambling sport too. I don't know if
I like it because with you, you know, I grew
up in an area it's too many promises. Say there's
a football game, there's a favorite by seven points. Every

(05:58):
might be guy throws a past and the drops the
ball in the end zone. There's always going to be
that if did he drop it on purpose? Is in
a gambling situation, and it's just it's not good. It
changes good, it can change the whole dynamic of the game,
your experience of the game. I know when I grew up,
there wasn't any gambling. I was just rooted for the team.
But now it was gambling when you grow up, but

(06:19):
it was illegal.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Exactly.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
But now people can place their bets and it just
brings I mean, some will argue it brings a more
exciting element to the game, but I can't justify the righteousness.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Yeah, I get people telling me because I don't game,
and you know me, during my career, I worked in
many racetracks and I never even gambled. When I worked there.
I can't treat it as a sport with statistics and
records and things like that. But people tell me all
the time I watched these games on TV, but it's
an extra element. I'm more excited when I have some
money on it, some shekels on it. I just don't
do it. I just don't see it. I don't see it.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
And maybe it's just, you know, my type of personality,
your hype of personality. But some people, they get so excited, right,
you know, placing a couple of hundred on those people
who do it.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
My partner on Sunday, Jeff Schwartz, he loves to do that.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
No, no, and no, but it's just it's not for me.
I don't get If I placed the two hundred dollars
bet and I lose, I'm upset. It's like, why would
I just then you don't enjoy the game for what
it truly is. It's just a competitive match between two teams.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Okay, so we know your mindset now as an athlete
as at Jock, but my mindset as a fan. I
learned something this week. It's all about hype. Maybe I'm wrong,
but in my mind it was hype. What do I
mean by that? We love it more when hype turns
into wins. What do I mean by that? This week,
the Cincinnati Reds brought up this kid who's rated number
one as far as the monor League prospect, Ellie de

(07:44):
la Cruz. They brought him up this week. It was
on Wednesday night, I remember, And on Wednesday night they
had the NBA playoff game and they also had the
Reds game on TV. I watched more of the Reds
baseball game, which I never normally do, than the NBA
game on because of the hype the high I wanted
to see this kid, Ellie Delacruz play, and I guess what.
I also watched and I enjoyed the Women's College World

(08:07):
Series Oklahoma. It was tremendous to me. You talk about,
you know, fifty one. They won the championship this year,
third consecutive national championship. You talk about, I don't care
what sport you play, what team you run to win
three consecutive championships. They extended their win streak the fifty
three game. How you freaking kidding me? Fifty three games?

(08:28):
It was exciting, so I watched it. You know, That's
why I'm a fan, and I think it's unreal. They
had six titles in the past ten years. It's unbelievable.
I watched that another shame to admit it.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Yeah, do you know the backstory for Dela Cruz?

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Do you know a little bit?

Speaker 2 (08:41):
In the twenty one years old born in the Dominican Republic,
currently batting three thirty three So back in twenty eighteen,
signed as an international free agent with the Reds and
he pretty much remained off the radar throughout the eighteen
and nineteen season. He really wasn't that big of a
deal as he is right now. He signed back in
eighteen for sixty thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Wow, yep, wow.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
But now it wasn't until like twenty one the things
really started to turn around. I don't know if he,
you know, worked with a hitting coach, a trainer to
gain his speed, but you know him running around the
basis it is, he's the fastest guy I've ever seen.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
It's unbelievable. Sixty sixth They said he had a double
the other day at a line shot in the corner
right field. They said he made it from home plate
to second base? What in six seconds? Since six point
three seconds something like that. It's unbelievable. I mean, but
what it takes me long? Did it get too? From
my bedroom to the toilet, from home to say what
he was able to do?

Speaker 2 (09:34):
And from eighteen up until now, it's pretty remarkable. But
I think people are really excited this hype that you
keep talking about. It gives the Reds a little something
to root for, right, right, aren't exactly a winning team
in baseball. They never really had, right, you know, that
winning team, but now they have a little bit of
juice in them.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Hype is what it's all about, because I think what's
hurting the NBA Finals there's really no hype. You know,
the Oker's the guy you want to see him play.
He may be the goat in the NBA right now.
We'll get into that later on, I'm sure, but if
there's no hype, there's no sense in watching the event.
That's what it's all about. You know, why do they
watch the Yankees? Aaron Judge, he's the hype. Yeah, I mean,

(10:14):
and maybe baseball needs more hype. I don't know. It's
not my job to tell baseball what they need to do,
but I think that hype is everything. You could have
a winning team, and people don't go if you don't
have a star. The Reds may not have a winning team,
but they got hype. Why people are going now? And
we know they had Joey Vardo, But Joey vari he's
getting old. He may have been playing again.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
They never play again, so now they need someone near
the root for Delacruiz is their guy, and people are
so excited. I watched that game. The stands were crowded.
I know it looked like a sold out stadium.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Well they had like a twenty three twenty four thousand
people crowd, but I think that's something like a nine
ten thousand walk up. When they announced he's playing that
night against the Dodgers to town. And for me not
to watch the NBA playoff game, that's a big deal.
I kept on turning back and forth to see what's
going on. But let me leave you with this. Okay, last,
but not least, the Belmont Stakes was yesterday. Okay, and
an archangel won the Belmont Stakes. Who's a female trainer

(11:04):
who won it? First time they have a female trainer winning.
Here's my question. There was some talk twenty four hours
before the Belmont stakes that they may cancel it because
of the air quality in New York City. All right,
I get that, all right, they want to cancel that
for air quality. God bless them. Take care of the horses.
But Churchill Downs ran and seven horses drop dead. That

(11:25):
I don't get. But there's certain things. I just scratched
my head. Am I that stupid? I can't figure it out.
They want to cancel the Belmont, which they didn't because
of poor air quality. But Churchill Downs ran, then one, two, three, four, five, six,
seven horses died, and finally after the Kentucky Derby, they
did shut the track down and they moved their meet
now to Ellis Park in Henderson, Kentucky. That's what they did.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Yeah, there was a lot of people scratching their heads
during the derby when all that was coming down. Seven
horses going down, all in the same week leading up
to one of the biggest horse races of the year,
the Kentucky Derby. How does that happen? And it's never
really happened before in history. You never really hear about this.
Seven horses going down, Dad, I mean, you worked at
a racetrack. How many horses came.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Out went down? At your race Manny, we wouldn't have
seven going down in an entire meat. Yeah, and it's
the most depressing thing to ever seen when a horse
goes down to bring out a cart with a curtain
and they put the horse behind her and it's not Yeah, yes,
it's it's not good. But again, if I've seen it
maybe seven times in my entire life, of all the
race trucks I work, it's a lot. It's a lot.
So that really is yeah. All right, are you ready

(12:30):

(13:14):

(13:37):
I want to talk a little bit about the NBA players,
which probably be over by tomorrow night. Okay, this could
be Game five and Denver's up three games to one.
The first thing I want to mention to you is
what I had seen in game four, certainly Game four
one toweight ninety five Denver. But more than that, they
had a promotion like at halftime where USC boxer fighter
Connor McGregor was there and he was going like back

(14:00):
to back. I was brushing around a little bit with
the Miami Heat mascot Bernie. Supposed to be a little promotion,
and what does McGregor do. He gives him a left,
that gives him a right. Bernie falls down on his back,
that carry him out to the hospital. I mean what
I mean, that's the only thing I took away from
that game. Really, what's going on? How do you permit that?

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Who do you blame in this situation here?

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Dad? Who do you think? I blamed the Miami Heat
for permitting this to happen? Because I think they know
Connor McGregor is not over air, thank you, and you
know he's gonna go nuts. I mean, I thought we're
in that costume, the mascot costume may be some protection.
But I looked at that video. It was a left
and a right and this kid who was wearing the
Bernie costume fell on his head backwards.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Now there's not a lot of protection in the head. Dad, Listen,
this is Miami's issue. Why what were they thinking? It's
a great idea bringing Conen McGregor let him.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Oh, well, just we'll have a little bit of fun.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
That's fine, right, Well, you're talking Connor McGregor fifty percent
if he threw a punch Dad at fifty percent power.
That's enough, just and knock anybody out. Compared to you
should better punch of my fifty percent. You should know better,
like they should know better. Should be right, you know,
No no judgment on Conor McGregor. He's just doing what

(15:12):
they asked. But what was Miami thinking.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
Come on, and you're just having waited? The kids were
in that constance playing making twelve bucks an hour and
he had to go to the emergency room.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Well, he'll tell you know, the next time he goes
on to date, he'll tell his girlfriend, Yeah, I got
knocked out by Cora McGregor, And that's what would be.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
So you talk about this series right now, Denver one
went away from the title. They're playing tomorrow night. I
would think that if Denver would have played Milwaukee, it
would have been a better series. Let's talk about this
Miami Heat team for a second, all right, because everybody's
saying how great they were. They were eight seed, they
came in, they beat Milwaukee. Look, if Jason Tatum did
not get hurt in that seventh game for the Celtics,

(15:47):
the Celtics would have beat Miami number one. They were
the last team in offense in the NBA this year,
and then the bottom line is the storyline for them
or your long wholl I goal. These non drafted players. Hey,
you know what, idiot, most of it plays in the
NBA are not drafted. There's only two rounds of a
freaking draft.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
You know. I think this year they're trying to create
Miami as the cinder relative right right, no draft picks,
low draft picks, these nobody names, and they're in the
NBA Finals. But I think that you know, I want
to take it back to Game three, Dad, Please take
it back to Game three. At the half, both Miami
and Denver were kind of neck and neck at the half,

(16:27):
both about forty five point points right by the second half.
At the beginning of the second half and the rest
of the second half, that's when Denver really turned on
the Jets. And I think that's that really scared Miami.
They had a comfortable twelve to fifteen point lead during
the entire second half, and I think now Miami they're
shaking in their boots. They know that they don't have

(16:48):
the caliber to even keep up with They're not as
good as they're not as good as they never they
got two players.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
They've got bam Adebayo and they got Jimmy Butler. Okay,
you like Denver, I mean you got Aaron Gordon came
up the best the other night twenty seven points. Joke,
I had twenty three, twelve rebounds, four assists. I mean
Bruce Brown twenty one off the bench the other day.
They're too big and there's just too many good players.
And Jamal Murray, I mean they locked him up the
other night, but so what Brown comes off the bench

(17:14):
for twenty one. They're just too many good players on there,
and they try to play a zone defense against these guys.
He is the problem with zone defense. Look, I don't
know much about basketball. The next game I coach would
be my first, right, But I did follow Jimmy Beheim,
who coached at Syracuse, who lived with the zone defense.
He played the two three Well, why was he successful?
He had players that were six six sixty seven with

(17:34):
a big wing span to play the two three zone.
They don't have that Miami. They're a small team.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
They're small, you know, when they're playing against Boston. I
was thinking that maybe somewhere halfway around the series that
they just kind of plateaued, and that's when they started
losing a couple of games against Boston. They end up
winning in game seven, but I think I think I
was thinking, you know, maybe this' they're plateauing right now,
they're gonna come back and win the rest of the series.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
It's I don't think he's gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
You know a good friend of mine, dad, he's a
zoo keeper for the Cincinnati Zoo.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Really. Yeah, he hangs out with the Lions and the Hyaenas.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
His name is Mark, And I asked, Mark, you know,
how long do you think this series is going to go?

Speaker 1 (18:11):
He took it. He said, game six. You're kidding me.
But I think he gave Miami.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Just a little bit too much credit for game six.
I think its series is gonna be done game five.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
To be happy, but it's over, really because I don't
think there's a lot of people interested in this series.
And more than that, if you follow the series, do
you realize that Miami has lost six of their last
eight games they played? Yeah, they lost three out of
four I know in this series against Denver and three
out of four going into the seventh game against the
Boston Celtics. They lost six out of eight. They have
not scored one hundred points in the last two games.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
There, Up, they're on that rise or looking really good
against Boston. Then they plateau, and that's what I was thinking, Okay,
this's going to be the same thing in this series.
But now I think Miami they just know Denver's the
better team.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
The only thing I'm happy about this series is I
know I've read all year long, how great Jokich is. Okay,
tremendous player. At least now get to see him. Yeah,
because of Denver was not on TV that many times
during the year, perhaps maybe because at a time factor,
I don't know, But now we get to see him.
He's on center stage. He's got a stage and he's
doing it great. We talk about goats in sports the
greatest of all time, and they always based that on

(19:13):
the ring factor, and he does not have a ring
although he's a two time MVP. I don't buy that.
Aaron Rodgers, one of the very best, has only one
Super Bowl ring. Where was Michael Jordan before Scottie Pippen.
I mean, sometimes you cannot win alone. Kevin Durant is
a great player, can't do it by yourself. You just
can't do it. They always talk about the Big two
to Big three, where they got the big three. In Denver,

(19:34):
they got Aaron Gordon, they got Bruce Brown, they got Jokics,
they got Jamal Murray, they got all these guys that
are players and that's why they win. You can't do it.
And what do they have in Miami? They got Jimmy Butler.
All right, and people tell me how great he is. Yeah,
he's great. He's a great player. He doesn't get a ring,
he's not going through the Hall of Fame. Yeah, that's
what it is.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
I think with the Denver situation, it's also just the
environment of the entire team, and we can really see
the environment. Whenever Jokic is doing in an interview, all
they care about is just winning the game. He's put
up some incredible NBA Finals stat and he even said
during you know, when you were asked about it, I
don't really care about that stat.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
I don't care about that I just put up.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
I just care about winning the game for my team,
for my teammates, and.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Winning the finals. N Yeah, five fouls, they sign them
out for five minutes, the last five minutes the fourth quarter,
and you know what they didn't. They didn't miss a beat.
That's how good they are. But going back to Game
three that you mentioned early on, Max Strew's from Miami
gave Vincent these guys that they will crush. Everybody's just
rushing and gushing with praise for these guys will playoff.

(20:39):
They had just ten points on three for seventeen from
the floor, and that's what I lost that game. You know,
it's all about the three with them. They don't score
three point goals and they don't shoot one to forty
six percent from the threes, they're not going to win.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Yeah, going back to Game three, defense is great. Well,
so you know they're up by twelve fifteen points in Miami.
They're just starting to They're really starting to feel the heat.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Dad. They're shooting the threes.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
They're trying to make it, make it come back, trying
to stay in the game. They just couldn't do it.
You know, Miami, they just don't have enough power, firepower
just to contend with the Denver right and Denvis.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Shoot what they deserve to win. They long number one
in the West. That's what they should do, all right.
He's Alex Furman. I'm Andy Fermer. We are Fox Sports

from the Tyrack dot com studios. But first guy, Kevin
Wirret has all your sports well the big story. On Saturday,

Cup championship. Winehard shots blocks White Cloud, stick breaks centery
pass kicked away by Carlson. Five seconds to right a.

Shot blocks by McNab right bound is loose, push to

the finals Game five Money evening in Denver's the Nuggets
hold a three to one series lead. In tennis, Igasviatik
is the French Open champion for the third time in
the last four years. Soccer Manchester City beats Inter Milan

the Canadian Open, it's ct PAN on top of the

(22:38):
leader boy Rory McElroy is two shots behind. Belmont Stakes.
Arcangelo wins it the horse trained by Jenna Antonucci, and
she's the first female trainer ever to win a triple
Crown race. Major League Baseball, the Oakland Athletics a team
many expected to lose a record number of games, but
they've been on a roll lately. They've had won four

(22:59):
in a row, this one a ten inning affair against
the Milwaukee Brewers, final score four to three. Orioles beat
the Royals six ' to one hand in Kansas City,
their fifth straight loss. The Mets end a seven game
losing skid with a five to one victory against the Pirates.
The Diamondbacks beat the Tigers five nothing. Detroit has lost
eight in a row. The Dodgers beat the Phillies nine
to nothing, ending in Philadelphia's six game winning streak. The

(23:22):
Rockies have lost six in a row as the Padres
beat them three to two. Same for the Nationals, the
Braves take him down six ' four as Atlanta has
now won seventh straight. The Rangers snapped the race seven
game winning streak in an eight four win. The Cubs
beat the Giants four nothing as Kyle Hendrix took a
no hitter into the eighth inning, and with two outs
in that eighth inning, he allowed a double off the wall,

(23:42):

Speaker 1 (23:45):
Sox three to one. Back of you guys, all right,

(24:08):
and we're gonna have ask Alex instead of eat my
Schwartz in about five six minutes for now, okay. This week,
the PGA Tour announced the merger would Live, how Saudi
funded rivalry. Originally it condemn Live as a threat to golf.
You know, who won the money won? What was your
take on that when you heard that.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
You know a lot of people are that's a really
good question. I think I agree with the player's dad
on both sides that this deal is crap Indian, Like
you said, it's a money game and the money won, right,
But who gets this money? You know, the PGA is
now talking about giving equity shares to the players that
stayed on the PGA rather than going to Live. But

(24:48):
how's that going to be played out? How's that going
to be paid out? And then you're talking about the
live golfers, how are they going to come back to
the PGA. How's that going to be settled? Are they
going to go back to the corn ferry?

Speaker 4 (24:59):
Right?

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Are they're gonna have to go through the corn ferry
and get their card back? We don't know. Honestly, it's
bull crap. To the guys who stuck to the PGA,
they really got the show their loyalty.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
They're gonna smack in the face with being loyal. That's
basically what happened.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
You know, when LIV was just being developed and players
were starting to leave the PGA to go to.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
The Excuse me, I don't blame Roy for the money.
I don't blame him because most people would do that.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Well, there was an issue even before Live, and then
once Live started that the PGA the persons just weren't
wasn't big enough, right, the players weren't making enough money,
or that the prizes really weren't that big. And then
when Live started, they started offering prizes twenty million dollars,
thirty million dollars for one golf tournament, right, so obviously

(25:42):
you're gonna be attracted to the money. And then players
are starting to get signing, signing boys for one hundred
you know, Phil McElroy or Nicholson Brooks Kepka, they started
signing for hundreds of million dollars. Of course they're gonna
be attracted to the money. Sure, But in Rory McElroy's
during this entire escapee, he's defending the PGA. He's defending

(26:05):
and then he came out with a quote, you know,
it's hard for me not to sit here and feel
somewhat like a sacrificial lamb and feel like I've put
myself out there and this is what happened. And even
while all this talk of them combining the PGA and Live,
he was out in the dark. All the PGA players
were out in the dog. They have no idea that
this was even in the talks. They found out through

(26:27):
social media. How do you think that they feel about this?

Speaker 1 (26:30):
I know it's crazy because the PGA initially they asked
loyalty of all their players. Now they argued that joining
the Live was sports washing. That's what they said. The
PGA said they couldn't offer the eight to nine figure
guarantees that Live was paying. Okay, get that, I understand
that's why these guys jump. But here's the blood on line.
If the shaming players for taking the money, and they
did shame them, the PGA Tour is taking the money.

(26:52):
That's what they're doing. So you got to take a look.
Where's the future of golf right now? What's gonna happen? Really? Well,
that's a great question.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
Honestly at the very end, on the flip side here,
I think this is gonna be the best for golf altogether.
It's gonna it's gonna recognize the brand. People are going
to be able to follow it. You know throughout the
entire world. Now it's it's gonna be such a bigger enterprise.
There's gonna be more money involved, so it's gonna be
you're gonna have better competition, right, you know, the players,

(27:21):
more purses. I think for the game of golf, it's
gonna be great. But for the people on the PGA tour,
I think they got the short end of the stick
and it sucks for them. It really does suck.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
Well. It amazes me because you know, the TV partner
for Live was the CW No.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
No.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
One. What I didn't know it was on the CW No.

Speaker 4 (27:40):
One.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
They must be doing car wheels right now because they
love it. They got big purses. They're under the umbrella
of the lp pgpg A. Uh, it's gonna be a
great situation for them. A matter of fact that some
of these events that were on the CW were canceled
they were gonna mean for the local programming. So they're
in great shape there. But you know it's funny those
uh Live golf as that took the money now return

(28:01):
to the fold. He's gonna be wondering how they're gonna
be accepted with the others who didn't jump the Will
there be some heat, some animosity, what's gonna happen?

Speaker 2 (28:10):
I think there's gonna be some side eyding. You know,
you you end up taking the money instead of sticking
with the PGA. Uh. You know, the PGA is all
about tradition. Golf is all about tradition. It's a gentleman's sport.
And uh, you know McElroy was really apprecing that when
all of this was really starting to lay out, once
players started to leave to go to tour, they're just
they're going after the money.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Right.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
But now that's another question that has yet to be answered.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
The commissioner J Monaghan says that there is a plan
in place, but he has yet to say anything about what.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
That plan is.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
So that's Michael, you know, are they going to have
to go back to the corn Ferry tour to get
their PGA card back? I don't know what what the
the plan is for them. But in thinking about Live, also,
Live isn't making any money, Dad. They're spending all kinds
of money, but they're not retaining anyone.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
They're studying the money. So what happens at Live folds
They're spending the money to get a foothold. That's what
they're doing. And later on we're going to mention the
fact that maybe they're going to spend this money not
only on golf, maybe on other sports to get a
foothold nationally in sports. Could it be Major League Baseball,
could be the NBA. You don't know, but here's a
situation I just picked up. The other day. A group

(29:19):
of relatives of people killed on nine to eleven issued
a blistering criticism of the planned merger between the Saudi
backed Live Golf Series and the PGA Tour, calling the
tour and as commissioner quote paid Saudi shills for agreeing
to it. No relatives of nine to eleven victims have
been vocal in their opposition to the Saudi based Lift

(29:41):
series almost since the inception. Most of the hijackers of
the planes used in the two thousand and one attacks
were Saudi, all right now. This past suit Tuesday, one
group of relatives called nine to eleven Families United, declared
that its members were shocked and deeply offended by them
merge a deal. In a statement, the group called it

(30:02):
a betrayal by the PGA Tour and its commissioner, J Monahan.
It's not good. A lot of people are shaken by
this situation at a lot of internal problems. And you know,
money is great, but money, as they say, is the
root of all evil and that's what created is the money.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
When players like Phil Brooks, Dustin Bryce and when they're
jumping ship going over to Live, of course they were
bombarded with these types of questions and it's hard to response.
But their response was, I just want to play golf.
I want to play good golf on my terms. I
don't want to follow what the PGA is doing, and
I want more money. And that's ultimately, you know, really

(30:38):
why they started jumping over to Live. But how are
they going to be able to jump back to the PGA.
How is this collaboration going to work with all the
golfers included. This is going to be yet the scene, Dad,
But the way it's going to work Live is going
to play out the rest of their tour. In the
twenty twenty three season, PGA is going to do their

(31:00):
own thing. The players on Live can't still compete with
for the PGA, and twenty twenty three we're gonna have
to see for twenty twenty four season what that's going
to look like see what the tour.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Okay, let's let's bring this down to reality right now.
As as a fan of the game of golf, which
you are watching golf on TV, the bottom line is
this a I don't think the majority of people watch
golf could care. You know who's backing it, Saudi's, Germans, Americans.
They don't care. They want to see good golf. And
I think golf will get better because of this.

Speaker 2 (31:29):
I think you'll I think golf will get better as
a sport as a whole, but it will also I
think golf is going to grow as well. The popularity,
the popularity of the game. It's it's going to grow
and it's going to be. Like I said, I agree
with the players that this is bull crap. I feel
for the PGA players how they got to shore another stick, but.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
I couldn't better the way the announcement was. When they
find out on social media on Twitter, that was that
was bad, that was a bad Well, that's just compounds.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
You know how the players feel. But also you know
these players, Phil Brooks, they're making millions and millions of dollars.
They had the opportunity to make these millions Obviously they
didn't go to the Live They stayed on a PGA tour,
but they missed out on the chance of so much money.
How are you going to justify people like McElroy who

(32:18):
stayed with the PGA.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
He's not making that much money.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
He's not making the same caliber of money as Brooks
kept guys.

Speaker 1 (32:24):
And how would you feel if you were on the tour? Here?
Bryce and d Chambeau who was paid more than one
hundred and twenty five million dollars to defect to Live Golf.
He told CNN on the other Tuesday that he felt
sorry for PGA tour members who didn't take the money.
How would you feel if you didn't take the money.
You're Rory McElroy and you hear d Chambeau say that.

(32:45):
I mean, come on, really, you know Rory he backs
the PGA because again he believes in that tradition.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
He on it.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
You wanted to be loyal to the PGA, and you
can't blame him. Sometimes money doesn't move people. Money does
not motivate people, and or Rory, money doesn't motivate him.
He wants to play good golfing and he wants to
stick with the PGA. And I don't blame him for that.
There you go, but he did get the shorty end
of the stick because he man, he was so outspoken
against Live. He hates Live, he hates it, and he

(33:14):
really hyped up the PGA tried to keep players on
the PGA tour not to defect. And now, like you said,
he feels like he's sacrificial lamb, and I just feel
bad for him. The commission kind of threw him underneath
the bus. Shoot, it's I feel bad for him.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
Here you go. He's Alex Fulman aka Alex Midnight. There
you go. I'm Andy Furman. We're here on Fox Sports
Sunday on Fox Sports Radio, and it's time to put
the rookie on the hot seat. Ask Colex? Is next?
No Schwartz, So we asked Colex, that's coming right up. Yes,
this is Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports. Ready, we'll
live from the Ti rock dot Com studios. He is
Alex Ferman. I'm Andy Furman. Away we go. Are you

(33:51):
ready to get on the hot seat? You're feeling good
for Jeff Schwartz. Now no more eat My Schwartz is
gonna be asked Alex today. Are you ready? Let's do it. Okay,
here we go. I'm gonna answer a couple of quick questions.
You'd be as honest as you can. I know you
will never lie to me. No, I never never do you.
And I want to ask you, honestly, what excites you
most about sports? Some people is the gambling aspects on people.
It's a certain sport. What really excites you so much

(34:13):
about sports?

Speaker 2 (34:13):
You know, being an athlete in high school, being an
athlete in college football, It's competitiveness. I love the competitiveness
that sports brings out of people. Sometimes it brings out
the best, and honestly that sometimes it brings out Thorston people,
you know. But when you compete with a group of
guys you like on the football team, right there's a

(34:33):
brotherhood that's formed there and you can't get that anywhere else.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
That's what I love about sports. Right now, I'm gonna
ask you two questions here. And before I ask the question,
I'm gonna give you a little preface appreciation. Bring a
favorite athlete and why? The most hated athlete and why?
And I say that because most of the people that
we talk about we've never met, you know, we just
see them on TV. Sure. And I say this as
an example. Is a baseball player on the New York
Mets pedelf Pete Alonzo. Great player. I mean, he's a

(35:01):
pretty good baseball player, but every time he does an interview,
he drops an F bomb. So I don't like the guy.
I think he's a pig. Really, I really do. So
to me, that's how I think many people form their
opinions on the way a guy sounds or looks on TV.
So I ask you, who's your favorite athlete and why?
And you most hated athlete.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
My favorite athlete, And some people might agree that you
know he is a pig, But I don't think he
is Chadow Josinko.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
No, he's not a pick. I loved him. I love him.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
First of all, he's so athletic, well he was able
to do on the football field. He was so entertaining
to watch. Every Sunday you wanted to tune into the
Bengals game and hope that he caught a touchdown just
to see what he was going to do in the
en zone, and then they would highlight it on the
next day in the newspaper on Monday. But I loved
I loved his personality.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
Such a great personality. We're going to talk about this
later today. But you know the show on HBO Hard Knocks.
You know they're in trouble. Not a lot of teams
that want to do it. The best Hard Knocks ever
was when they did the bank with Chat because they
followed him around. It was not so much football, it
was his personality. He sold that show.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
What was He had a catchphrase kiss the baby or
chop lease or something like that, please chop please. That
that started on Hard Knocks because of Chad Ochoo. That's
why I love them, but also love you know it's
Scotty Scheffler, Tony Final.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
Yeah, A couple of golfers love him.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
The It's your boy, yeah, Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, I am
not a big Aaron Rodgers. I like watching him play, though,
you know, I don't even like watching them play. Back
when he was in Green Bay last year, about halfway
through the season, it just in some of the games,
it just seemed like he checked out. And you go
back to the first question, what do I love about

(36:45):
sports is the competitiveness. Aaron Rodgers halfway through the season
didn't look like he gave a crap about playing football.
He had this look on his face, Dad like, gosh,
I really want to be somewhere else right now. I
do not want to be on this football field right
now playing. And that's I just I can't get behind it.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
The other day, you know, he did not miss any
of the OTAs now with the New York Jets, and
he came out and said it's the most funny he's
had in years, which is basically slap in the face
of the Green Bay Packers, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
And then, you know, after the season, and then he
started dragging on what he's going to do, just make
up your mind and.

Speaker 1 (37:20):
Going on the ground. I mean, what is that?

Speaker 2 (37:22):
And that's well, if that's what he's got to do,
then find I know, I get it, I get it,
but just you know, you don't have to tell the
whole world. He takes what you're doing just to gain
popularity on these podcasts.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
He takes the term diva to the next level. Oh
my god, you had no idea. Okay, if you could
change the rules in any sport, what's what would it be?
Name the sport? Tell us maybe what you would change?

Speaker 2 (37:42):
No, I think I would get rid of the possession
era in college basketball.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
Really yeah, you know, get rid of it. Play it
like the NBA.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Oh just jump, yeah, just jump where it's at now,
if get rid of the possess, because I don't think
it's fair for you know, these college kids, especially during
March maddness, they're playing with every ounce of intensity that
they have, right and then whenever it's a tussle for
the ball, it just goes to the other team. I know,
if it's not if it's against you, or if it
goes to you. So get rid of the possession narrow.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
I like that. Yeah, and it's funy you mentioned it,
because I haven't heard a lot of that come up.
You know. I think why they got rid of it
because these players are so big and toll the officials
have a hard time throwing up a good jump ball. Well,
get them a ladder there you go, all right, get
them like you all right? We will okay? Now, will
you part of that crowd that needed the game of
baseball to speed up? Every always complain too slow, and

(38:32):
I always say, hey, the beauty of the game. It
had no clock. That's why it's beautiful, you know.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Yes and no, yes, here's what the rule changes for baseball. Yes,
I like it because it's bigger bag is player safety.
I'm always for the player safety, right, I back that. No,
because of the pitchclock. Exactly what you said. It's a
timeless game. Get rid of the pitchclock. I don't like it.
I think it beats the game up too fast. And
then the shifting, the defensive shifting. I hate that role.

(39:00):
I hate that role. If I want to play three
players on one side, let me do that.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
Who cares?

Speaker 2 (39:04):
Let me get hit into the strategy and then screwt Yeah, exactly,
so I hate that.

Speaker 1 (39:10):
When I was a kid, the NBA did not permit
his own defense. You don't play his only NBA. You know,
guys like Well Chamberlain could just stay in the middle,
hit his hands up, So you got to play man
on man. Now he plays on the NBA. Why not,
it's part of the game.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
Let him play. Oh, I'm gonna play this strategy to
my advantage.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
Let me do it. I hate that. I hate that role.
Oh you're real, We'll give me sorry, Okay, there we go.
We'll continue. Got two more big hours with Alex Furman
right here on Fox Sports. Right now, all right, the
very best player in the world is coming to the US.
We'll get to that at just about a minute. Welcome everybody.
This is Fox Sports Sunday. He is Alex Ferman. Will
get to him in the second. I'm Andy Furman and

(39:47):
went broadcasting live from the ti iraq dot com studios
ty iraq dot com. We'll help you get there and
on my selection fast free shipping free road has a
protection and over ten thousand recommended in Stollers tie i
rack dot com the way tier buying should be. Now,
when we hear the open of this show and they
say nepotism at its best, please defend yourself. You're not
here because of your name, and certainly not because of

(40:09):
your good looks. Because of that, because you have a career.
We don't point me, don't point the me. I'll break
that thing er off. Really, However, you have a career
in radio. You were known as Alex Midnight in the
city of Cincinnati, so you know what it's like to
be behind the microphone. Yeah, it's not nepotism. Yeah, it's
not nepatist. You deserve it.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
If anyone says I'm behind this mic or because of
my dad, or because of my last name, you got
it wrong.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
You know what they're saying. Not it wrong. Pal. After
the show, they're saying, I'm on because of you. That's
what they're saying. We're in radio for five years. I
know what I'm doing behind the mike. Thank you all right,
and you're in for my good friend, Jeff Schwartz a
well deserved day of today. Let's talk for a second
because you were mentioning during the break about this NBA
playoff situation. Nuggets have three games to want to be
over tomorrow in Denver, and I'm happy, happy for the

(40:54):
city of Denver. They waited forty plus years, they've never
won a title. They deserve it. I remember when they
were in the AB eight the Rockets, you know, way
back in the day, David Thompson was playing there. But
you know, this team is just too big, too strong,
too long going in the paint, as you mentioned, and
then the bench is too strong. That's what they are.
They got everything. They have too many.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
Honestly, they just have too many good players that Miami
just can't keep up. I'll go back to Game three.
At the half, they were just about neck and neck,
and I just feel like for Game three that they
were just kind of feeling each other out.

Speaker 1 (41:23):
Still.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
It was the first game that Denver was away. They
were in Miami for Game three. But then at the
second half of that game that Denver just turned on
the Jets and Miami they just couldn't keep up right
and they're starting shoots them. They couldn't, they couldn't get
their cells back in the game. And I think after
that game is scared Miami. I think Miami is now scared.
And then we kind of saw the same thing in

(41:45):
Game four. Denver had complete control of the entire game,
keeping Miami blow a hundred points for two games in
a row.

Speaker 1 (41:53):
Dad blow a hundred points does get the MVP for
the series, you know what I think? So, I think
he's so good.

Speaker 2 (41:59):
What he able to do underneath the basket and then
pass the arc, it's un.

Speaker 5 (42:04):
He's he's passing the way, he passes his way, he
passes great, and then just rebounding for the ball, getting
up there and just he's he's probably the best player
that you will want on your team because he's not
it's not about him.

Speaker 2 (42:15):
He's a true playing for his own stats, right, And
there's interviews, you know, he broke this NBA final record,
and he says, I don't care. I don't care if
I broke that. I don't care that I said a
new record. I just care about winning the game, and
that's all I care about. I want to win the
championship for Denver.

Speaker 1 (42:32):
Now he's done a great job just controlling himself and
getting himself in shape, getting his weight down, and doing
what he had to do to become perhaps the best
player in the NBA. Right, he really has. But we
talk about hype, you know, we always talking about hype.
I think that's what sells, sells tickets and sells events,
and sometimes hype comes true. I remember when Lebron James
was playing in ye high school. He was hyped up.
He was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. And you

(42:53):
know what, he's gone above and beyond the hype he
really has. Now there's another athlete that has the credit,
the credentials. Of course, he's coming to play in the
United States. He's gonna play soccer. Lionel Messi. He's going
to join Miami CF of Major League Soccer. Okay, he
was the twenty twenty two World Cup champ. His instagramma
get this. He talking about hype. His Instagram account has

(43:14):
four hundred and sixty nine million with an m four
to sixty nine million followers. That's more than the entire NBA. Yeah, okay,
So will the high follow up people gonna go see
him because of well the height, that's what I want
to know.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
I think they will, Dad, I think they will MESSI.
First off, Instagram is an app that you can post
pictures and stuff.

Speaker 1 (43:33):
I don't be good, don't be four hundred and sixty
nine million followers. Why?

Speaker 2 (43:37):
Because Messi is a he's a superstar worldwide, Dad, okay,
and soccer is all over the world. It's bigger all
around the world than the United States. But why Miami?
I think I think two reasons here why Miami won.
He's thirty five years old, and he's possibly towards maybe
towards detail end of his career. And I think he's

(43:58):
going to retire with Miami. He's going to live out
the rest of the days in the States. I think
that's one reason why he went to Miami, because.

Speaker 1 (44:04):
There was reason the last place. Yeah no, yeah no.
But I know David Beckamungs the teams.

Speaker 2 (44:10):
Yeah, so he has some ties with you know why
he's going to go to Miami. I think that's one
reason why he's going to Miami. I think the second
reason why. So, there was talks that he was going
to go to Sauvy Arabia and play in their league,
and they're offering him millions dad million, millions of dollars
to play soccer over there. But they also offered Cristiano Ronaldo.

(44:31):
He has the same story. They offered him millions of dollars.
And you know, there's also there's this debate that, you know,
who's the better soccer player, Messi or Ronaldo. And it's
not really a foe that they're just going against each other.
But Messi he's always had a different story, a different
road that he wants to go down. He doesn't want

(44:53):
to follow ronaldo steps. He's not going to do what
Ronaldo is doing. He's going to do what he's doing.
So I think it's just this Miami would be a
better fit. That's why he went over to Miami. He's
not gonna follow Ronald though and play in the Saudi League.
I think that's why he chose Miami.

Speaker 1 (45:08):
Let me tell you, even though over the money, let
me tell you this deal, This is amazing Major League
Soccer MLS and their broadcast partner Apple. They offered MESSI
get this a share of revenue generated by new subscribers
to MLS Season Pass on Apple TV Plus. That's unbelievable.
This is in The Athletic the other day, they reported,

(45:29):
citing multiple sources, MESSI also get this was offered a
profit sharing deal with Adidas. Per The Athletic was in there.
On Tuesday, Apple TV plus announce that it was developing
a four part documentary series featuring guests who MESSI. Okay,
Now my question is this. We don't talk soccer much
here at all, if at all, right, so we'll talk

(45:50):
about somebody with hype coming here. Is he passed to
or his better days behind him? Why do I say
that I've worked in soccer when everybody who was just
say it was gonna be the next big sport in
the US of A. I worked in soccer. I believe
it was nineteen seventy and the North American Soccer League.
I was the PR guy for the Ford Lauderdale Strikers
and we had great players, but they were past their prime.

(46:10):
George Best then he rest in peace, tremendous, great player,
Georgie best. Wherever he went, crowds came to see him,
but he was past his prime. Gordon Banks, great player,
tremendous story. He was a goalkeeper with one eye, was
behind in one eye. You know, great stories. But we
had these guys past their prime. They come here after
they did their deal in the Premier League, playing in England.

(46:32):
Whatever it may be, is not going to be the
case of MESSI right now, with thirty five, I don't
think so.

Speaker 2 (46:36):
I think he still has a few years left in
them to play soccer.

Speaker 1 (46:40):
I think cked he checked the box a big.

Speaker 2 (46:43):
One that he wanted winning the World Cup finals last
year with Argentina. He's appeared in four of them, he's
lost all three of them, but he won his last
one and I think he checked he checked boxed that
one off. So now I think he's content. He's not
really competing for I mean, what else is he going.

Speaker 1 (47:02):
He played seventeen years with Barcelona. That it's a long time.

Speaker 2 (47:05):
That is a long time. And now you know he's
thirty five years old. Like I said, he's not a
young puppy anymore. He maybe towards the tail end of
his career. Where would you want to retire, Dad, Are
you going to retire in Miami in the United States?
Are you going to retire in Saudi Arabia? Where do
you want to retire?

Speaker 4 (47:21):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (47:21):
Are you going to retire if you can go with
the MLS? You want to play in Philadelphia, You want
to play in Miami? Right?

Speaker 2 (47:26):
Well, I think just even being in the States is
just such a you know, maybe in advantage to to
these players. Do you think of the school system for
their kids, the opportunities for their kids. You know, why
would you not want to retire in the United States?

Speaker 1 (47:39):
Okay? My question is this, Now we've talked soccer more
now than I've then maybe in my history working at
Fox Sports Radio. Is soccer that big of a deal?
When he comes here, his first game is gonna be
covered by everybody, no doubt about that, every media outlet
in the country. It's gonna go to Miami and see
that game. As a matter of fact, he's supposed to
be coming to Cincinnati in August. I want to go

(48:00):
see him play. I'm gonna go. Why because I bought in.
I'm a fan, I'm a Soucker. I want to see him.
Why not? I mean, and it's gonna be tough to
get a ticket for that game.

Speaker 2 (48:08):
You know, soccer has grown in popularity in the United States,
and we know this right especially here in the city
of Cincinnati. You know, creating FC Cincinnati. Now they're MS
team and it has a huge following. Seattle is a
huge soccer community out there, so the sport is growing,
and just having a big name like Messi, it just

(48:32):
brings the popularity of the entire sport up in the
United States. The same thing happened when Beckham went to
the La Galley.

Speaker 1 (48:37):
Well, I'm the thea thay this funny story about soccer.
I look, I'm not so certain it's that popular yet
in the US of A. Because I think if the
Cincinnati READI, and since I would start winning, winning big time,
they would outdry f C Cincinnati. I just think baseball,
to me, anyways, more popular than soccer. Maybe I'm wrong.
I'll give you an example. When we played the New
York Cosmos when I was in the North American Soccer League.
We went to New Jersey to play the game. There

(49:01):
were seventy six thousand people in that stadium. My hand
to God when I tell you this, because they had
Peley they had everybody. They Kanalia, the greatest players in
the world, the Kantasy Paline. We had George Best seventy
six thousand. I walked around the stands that day. I
didn't anybody speak English, seriously, I mean, and that's not
a knot on that foreign players, especially in New York

(49:22):
city's a melting pot. You got Jews, Italians, Germans, whoever
it may be, and they all came out to see
Pele Kanalia, whatever it may be. So I'm not so
certain that the main stay, the mainstream family in the
USFA are soccer fans. I just think that the people
who were farign born were brought up with soccer and
grew up with soccer, and they follow soccer.

Speaker 2 (49:43):
Well all around the world other than the United States.
That soccer is the most popular sport in the world.
If you didn't know that, but I know that. But
I think soccer fans they're also probably one of the
most loyalist fans as well. You know, they're loyal to
their teams, but they're also loyal to their favorite soccer player.
So you know, when Messi or when Ronaldo, you know
they're moving from Barcelona to Argentina or from whatever over

(50:07):
to Saudi Rabi. You know they're gonna follow that player
to their new team, and they're going to root for
their new team.

Speaker 1 (50:14):
Right. The World Cup, I was the most loyal fan base. Yeah,
you're talking about the World Cup. I'm not so certain.
The World Cup is popular because of the sport of
soccer is more popular because of nationalism. People root for
their country, and it just so happens their sport is
soccer playing for their country. Yeah, I don't think it's
the sport. They followed the World Cup because they're rooting
for their hometown out country. It's a nationalistic situation. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (50:36):
Sure, so everyone's rooting for their home country, right, you know,
in the World Cup. But also I mean, you know,
when I was watching the World Cup, I was rooted
for Messi because I've learned his backstory.

Speaker 1 (50:47):
Being the three year World.

Speaker 2 (50:48):
Cups, lost all three of them is probably was going
to be his last World Cup appearance with Argentina. If
he had not won it, he would have lost all four.
But I'm so happy that he won, and now I'm
excited that he's going to Miami.

Speaker 1 (51:00):
You see, there's a difference between you and me. I
don't care if he wins or loses. I want to
see him play. Well. I mean, honestly, I know the
average guy who goes to a game, And even though
I worked in soccer, I'm not so certain I could
tell you if this guy's a great soccer player as
supposed to someone else play. If I saw two guys
on the field and I didn't know which one was Messi,
I don't know if I could tell a difference. Maybe
I could, and I just don't know, could you. I Well,

(51:23):
to go baseball, you could tell.

Speaker 2 (51:25):
You know, I have this thing I think because I'm
an athlete, I just have this Oh you're putting me down,
the connection that you know, like you just root for
some of these guys, like you know, Messi in the
World Cup. I was rooting for him because I want
to see him win. I want him to have that.
I want him to be a champion.

Speaker 1 (51:42):
Well, I feel that way with Joker. I want the Joker, Okay,
I do. But the point is this, when I watch
a basketball game or I could tell that he's head
and shoulders above everybody else on the court. He's a
great player. Okay, I'm watching soccer. I'm not so certain
I could tell that, and I'm not so certain most
fans can they go there? Why it's something to do
with tonight out, get a couple of beers, and that's

(52:03):
what they do there. And I'll tell you why soccer
has been popular. People are so concerned about time. All right,
you go there, you know you got two forty five
minute running clock halves. So you get there seven o'clock,
you'll be home at nine. That's it. To a baseball game.
You could go at seven o'clock game, you'll be on
eleven thirty.

Speaker 2 (52:19):
Maybe, well, they always extend the games, you know. You know, so.

Speaker 1 (52:25):
I don't know that.

Speaker 2 (52:26):
I don't shoot what No, go ahead, what do you mean?
I forgot what I was going to say. You got
got me going on now soccer? And I forgot I
was going to say.

Speaker 1 (52:34):
Well about the time factor, but we know about checking
out athletes if one's better than another.

Speaker 2 (52:38):
Yeah, no, I forgot what I was going to say.

Speaker 1 (52:40):
Shoot, all right, that's okay, all right, So see, your
things would be a big deal.

Speaker 2 (52:44):
I think it's going to be a big deal. And oh,
this was going to say, good fans. Soccer is such
a religious sport as well. People, you know, if you're
if you're not, you know, a Barcelona fan.

Speaker 1 (52:55):
Oh, you're right.

Speaker 2 (52:56):
You know, people shun you families. People are shunned that
other families if they're not in a Barcelona fan. So
I don't think that aspect is here in the United States,
but certainly all around the world that's definitely a factor.

Speaker 1 (53:11):
No, I agree with you that I think soccer fans
around the world, I don't about here in the US
of A. Around the world, there are a lot more
loyal than sports fans here. Yeah, no doubt about that.
You're right about that, all right. He's Alex Furman, I'm
Andy Furman, and we're brought to you by Progressive Insurance.

seven nine ninety six sixty three sixty nine bottom barrel betting?

(53:54):
Are you ready to play that? We have that? This
outs to it. You're gonna be filling up for Jeff Schwartz.
You've bitter, do well because they'll call you next. I
win the last time. I'm not going to tell you.
I don't want to upset you. Really the playing game
and our number three. But we're in the middle of
the finals. So why are these clowns chirping? That's next?

(54:15):
Can't they wait just a few more days? That's right
around the corner. Okay, this is Fox Sports Sunday. He's
Alex Furman. I'm Andy Furman, and we're going to pick
up this conversation for a second. Alex is if for
Jeff Schwartz, I will deserve DAF for my partner.

Speaker 4 (54:29):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (54:29):
We talked about soccer in the list second. I don't
want to lay with the point too much. But obviously
we don't talk much soccer here. I don't think there's
a great interest in it for whatever the reason. Maybe
there's not a lot of great storylines, maybe because they're
foreign players. There's millions of issues and reasons. Why don't
we talk a lot of NHL hockey. Who's that the
same deal. We consider it a foreign sportcus Canadian. No, No,
I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (54:49):
That's a really good question, though, Dad, I was thinking
about this earlier. I think maybe it's just hard to
call the plays on the radio. I think I think
the game moves weight too fast for the announcer just
to keep up. Heck, it's hard for to watch it
on television sometimes, the camera gaming where the players are going.
I think maybe that's why I thought.

Speaker 1 (55:09):
One of the reasons being and I don't think anybody
will remit this. People don't want to talk about it
because they can't pronounce their names, so they don't want
to be embarrassed.

Speaker 2 (55:16):
Really well, maybe that's the same thing for soccer, tennis too,
and tennis. Right, yeah, I'm with you. It's too hard
to say the name.

Speaker 1 (55:22):
So let's go back to something easier. Let's go back
to the NBA playoffs, and that right now should be
center stage. They'll be over tomorrow night. I'm sure Denver's
gonna win Game five. There are three games to one.
But let's talk about the game of baseball for a seconment.
The game of baseball. They forbid any trades, any announcements
to upset their star performance, which is the World Series.
You can't do it during the World Series, but not

(55:43):
in the NBA because of ego, because of selfishness. And
you got Kyrie Irving and Lebron James and leave it
to both those guys because ruining basketball teams is no
longer enough for Kyrie Irving. Now, along with his buddy Lebron,
he's doing his best to diminish the NBA Finals. What
do I mean by that? They got together the other

(56:03):
day talking about their future, Lebron and Kyrie again. They
found the way to suck as much oxygen out of
the room and talk about maybe their future. And one
NBA source said, and this guy worked with Lebron and says,
that's what Lebron does, and same for Kyrie. Now, I
went back to the Athletic and the latest example is
a report from the Athletic that Irving, a free agent,

(56:25):
reach out to his former teammate to see if Lebron
James has any interest in joining him in Dallas. I
don't care if he does or he does. I don't
think it's gonna happen. But can't they keep their mouth shut.
This is the play. Where's the commissioner, Where's Adam Stern,
Adam Silver? Where can Adam Silver say? Look, this is
our showcase, this is the event. Maybe their rnnings aren't
that great, but can you please back off and let

(56:46):
these stars have their day?

Speaker 2 (56:48):
You know, I think, I think, honestly, both of them,
they're just bored Dad, They're just bored and their ego maniacs,
and they just want to take the spotlight away from
the finals, away from Denver Am II and put it
back on them. They just wouldn't be back in the news.
But Lebron going to Dallas? What does Dallas have to
offer the Lakers? It's absolutely it's ridiculous were even talking

(57:11):
about this. If they're going to talk about that is
if Kyrie really wants Lebron with them, just do it
behind closed doors, talk about it in private, just call
each other, text each other, but don't call news media
and get the story.

Speaker 1 (57:24):
They lost it. It's very similar. Aaron Rodgers, you know
the same thing. You know, you have to know everything
I do. You know he was gonna host Jeopardy at
one time, right, I mean, come on, I don't want
to hear I'm not interested in it. I'm interested when
you put the uniform on in play. That's what I'm exactly.

Speaker 2 (57:38):
I don't I'm not interested in your personal and public
drama that you have with everybody else.

Speaker 1 (57:42):
I don't know, although you are interested in the in
their social sex life, you are, admit it. What you
are not not you? I mean people are not you,
per se. Maybe you are. I don't know, but I
think people like to read about that, the affairs that
they have and things like that. No, no, you're talking
about all right, what do you think about? Well, let
me continue whatever. Because he played in Cleveland with Lebron

(58:03):
and they won the championship and then he left. But
let's talk about his future. He went to Boston and
the Celtics war and they are they're better without him.
He's a destroyer. He's like a cancer on a team.
He went to the Brooklyn Nets disaster. Now you're talking
about Harden. He's forced his way out one year and
now that was in Houston. Now he's in Philadelphia. He's
talking about maybe going back to Houston. What is wrong

(58:24):
with these people? You know? To me, if I'm a
general manager, I don't want anybody who could disrupt my team.
I look at some of these guys that you like
are no names, that are just great pieces that fit
into various teams. And some of those guys are playing
for the Miami Heat. Guys really like no names, you know, Strew's.
Some of those guys like great, right, I mean, they're

(58:45):
great players to fit into a system, that's what they do.

Speaker 2 (58:48):
I think James Harden going towards maybe maybe Dad the
tail end of his career. He wants to position himself
on a team where he can win the championship. And
he feels like he can do that with the Houston Rockets,
and maybe that's why he wants to.

Speaker 1 (59:02):
Go back to the Rockets. But he's better the systems.

Speaker 2 (59:04):
You know the system, and he knows how to know
how to play. He played his best basketball with the Rockets.
Then he went over to the Nets. Didn't really do
anything there. Then you go to Philadelphia, he didn't really
do anything there. Philadelia has spoken out. Then they want
to keep him on the team, but he's disinterested.

Speaker 1 (59:21):
He's not interested.

Speaker 2 (59:22):
He wants to go back to.

Speaker 1 (59:23):
Him You half right there, Yeah, I'll tell you why.
You're right. He's thirty three, so maybe he's better days
are behind him. And he said he wants to play
for a team because him a chance took me for
a championship. That is in the twilight of his career.
You're right there, But I think the seventy sixes are
the better option than the Rockets, right. And Darryl Moray,
the general manager of the seventy six ers, had him
in Houston. He knows him. I believe that he will

(59:45):
stay in Houston. In Philadelphia, he really Okay, Okay, but
here's the kicker. Let's finish with this one, all right.
You're gonna go nuts when you hit this. Dwight Howard,
thirty seven years old, okay, wants to continue to play U.
He played in Taiwan this past year and he led
the Leopards to Taiwan Leopards this year. He averaged twenty

(01:00:07):
three and a half points a game, sixteen point two
rebounds in some league which I never heard of, maybe
in bottom barrel betting will here, I don't know about that.
He managed to lead the league in three point shooting,
which tells you what kind of league it might be.
That's the kind of league that I might be able
to play in. On Sundays. Who knows, but he says.
He said this to the Sacramento Observe the newspaper the
other day. He's not retired yet. I'm not retired from

(01:00:29):
the NBA. I would love to help the Sacramento Kings
contend for a title. I want to come back and
play for the Kings again. All right, the Kings obviously
first time in the playoffs and seventeen years. Did they
need him? Did they want him? He starty seven? You
know these guys when they missed the check, they want
it back again. That's true.

Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
First of all, I didn't know they let players play
after thirty five for Howard send them back to Taiwan. Right,
just playing Taiwan, scored average twenty three points.

Speaker 1 (01:00:55):
Who is he playing with five to ten guys? I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
Probably so he's I towered those guys. No wonder he's
gonna lead the league. And like you said, I'd never
heard of this league before. Let him play over there.

Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
The heck with them, I'll go with stuff further A
heck with them, I send them back. Before I read this,
I had no idea who's playing in Taiwan. I don't
know where he was really I mean, see the problem
is that these people think that that these athletes think
that the public cares what they do. They do really don't.
Life goes on. He said, I want to.

Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
Go to Sacramento because I want to help the Kings
win a championship. Right, Howard, what are you going to
do for Sacramento?

Speaker 4 (01:01:30):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:01:30):
Nothing sends you back to Taiwan, buddy.

Speaker 1 (01:01:33):
Life goes on. I mean, they've been great players and
they've left, but you know what, the league continues. Larry
Bird played, Magic Johnson played MJ played, and you know what,
the NBA still thrives. All right, maybe not have as
many superstars now as they did then, but there are
certain players that are great players. Kevin Durantz right there,
Jannis is there, Jokic is there. So they got players,

(01:01:54):
they got star players, and you know, life goes on.
You play and you move on.

Speaker 2 (01:01:58):
You know. Talking about that, we'll bring that that theory
there to the NFL and talk about Aaron Rodgers, same situation.

Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
Aaron Rodgers. He's a great quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:02:08):
He was a great quarterback at Green Bay and then
he just started winning. Down retire, go to TV, do commentary,
work care, do Jeopardy, I don't care, but just end
on a high note instead of dragging it on.

Speaker 1 (01:02:22):
Howard he had a great career. End on the high
note and then just move on, student with your life
is the green cabbage. They want the chat, they want
that money.

Speaker 2 (01:02:31):
Well, that means they're spending their money. And they got
this Like the PGA, the money was there. He sucked
you right in.

Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
That's true. It's all about the money, all right, Alex
Firm and Andy Freman. By the way, we have the answer,
Yes we do. We have the answer to an age
old question. That's coming up next on Fox Sports Sunday
Live forth Tyrock dot Com Studios. But first, here's Kevin
Wyrett with daf day Well.

Speaker 3 (01:02:52):
The Stanley Cup Finals on Saturday night saw Vegas get
on the verge of a championship. They held out a
lot late flurry of Florida Panther shots to win it
three to two in Game four to take a three
to one series lead and set up a potential series
clinching Game five Tuesday evening in Las Vegas. NBA news

(01:03:14):
that Toronto Raptors are hiring Darko Rajakovich as their next
head coach. He was most recently an assistant with the
Memphis Grizzlies. In tennis, it's Egas Fiatik, winning the French
Open for the third time in the last four years.
In international soccer, Manchester City beats Inter Milan one nail
to claim the YUIFA Champions League Crown. At the Canadian

(01:03:36):
Opening Golf, it's ct Pan at the top of the field.
Roy mclory is two shots behind Belmont Stakes. On Saturday,
Arcangelo wins it the horse trained by Jenna Antonucci, and
she's the first female trainer ever to win a triple
crown race. Major League Baseball action, the Oakland A's a
team many think will lose a record number of games. Well,

(01:03:59):
they're on a roll right now.

Speaker 1 (01:04:00):
They've played.

Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
They made it four in a row by beating the
Milwaukee Brewers four to three in a ten inning game.
Orioles beat the Royals six to one, as Kansas City
has lost five straight. The Mets end a seven game
losing skid with a five to one victory against the Pirates.
The Diamondbacks they beat the Tigers find nothing as Detroit
has now lost eight in a row. The Dodgers beat
the Phillies nine to nothing. As Phillies the Phillies six

(01:04:23):
game winning streak comes to an end. The Rockies have
lost six in a row as the Padres beat him
three to two. Same for the Nationals. They have lost
six straight as the Braves take him down six '
four landed for their own part as one seven in
a row. The Rangers and the race seven game winning
streak as they beat him eight four. The Cubs beat
the Giants four nothing as Kyle Hendrix took a no

(01:04:44):
hitter into the eighth inning, but it was broken up
with two outs in that eighth inning on a double
off the wall, and the Yankees beat their arch rival
the Boston Red Sox three to one. Now back to

Speaker 1 (01:04:56):
Listen to you. Thank you so much, Kiff, seeing it

(01:05:17):

bottom barrel betting at about eight nine minutes from now.
So hang with us on that. You're gonna love this.
I mean you're gonna be very vocal on this topic.
I know you are because you've always wondered why athletes
carry pistols, right, all right, right or wrong? They do
all right, and even some tried to bring them on planes.
But a total of three Cleveland Brown players were robbed

(01:05:40):
over last weekend, including two players who had their car stolen.
I understand it, okay. I understand that one basketball player,
John Moran was in a strip club recently waving his
glove his guns on social media, and he's gonna be
sitting out a portion of the season this year. But
the truth is this, athletes are wealthy, which makes them
excellent targets. That's why they carry guns. I understand it.

Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
I don't think athletes need to carry guns, Dad, There's
no reason for them to. Here's the situation. I blame
it on the people that they're surrounding themselves with. Disappoint example,
Greg Newsome and Preon Winfrey, they were robbed at in
Cleveland nightclub on Monday morning, six mass men jumped in

(01:06:23):
out of an unknown car and robbed them at gunpoint
three point thirty in the morning. They took jewelry and
they fled in the guy's truck. What were they doing
Monday night at.

Speaker 1 (01:06:33):
A at a nightclub?

Speaker 2 (01:06:34):
Why are you You're just in your putting yourself in
a position to be robbed? And let me ask you this, dad,
why isn't this happening to Tom Brady?

Speaker 1 (01:06:45):
Because he said, why does this not happen.

Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
Joe Burrow or Patrick Mahons exactly, countless others?

Speaker 1 (01:06:51):
Why not them?

Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
They don't put themselves in a position to be vulnerable
to be robbed.

Speaker 1 (01:06:57):
You gotta be.

Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
Two things here. Either Cleveland needs to step up their
security or these deals they need to change who they're
hanging out with. They're hanging around with a background the
player from them, then the Memphis Grizzlies, John Moran, he's
flashing the gun around. What kind of crowd is he
hanging with that's influencing this type of behavior? There hanging

(01:07:19):
around with and you know who I learned that with
from you?

Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
You? You mom?

Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
You guys always told me to hang out with a
good set of crowd, and I never got in trouble.

Speaker 1 (01:07:27):
I never got Rather, I was told a long time ago,
nothing good happens after midnight. All right, he's out there
three thirty in the morning. However, if you want to
be out there three thirty, there's nothing wrong with it.
The club is open, it's not illegal. You know, you
may want to carry a gun just in case, so
you prevent something like this happening. Perhaps I'm not advocating
that I'm not a gun person. I don't have one.

(01:07:47):
I don't own one, and I promise what you just said.
I don't think Tom Brady or Joe Burrow has a gun.

Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
You know, as an athlete, there's been days where I
had multiple back to back workouts. You know, Monday we're
working out, Tuesday we're working out in the morning. Wednesday
we're working out in the afternoon. I don't understand players
why they're staying at at nightclubs on a Monday night
until three point thirty in the morning, when they know

(01:08:13):
they have to go through walk through, you know, on Tuesdays,
or they have a lift at six am on Tuesday
morning at the facilities.

Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
Why are you It just tells me that they're.

Speaker 2 (01:08:23):
Not in the mindset of being the best professional athlete
that they possibly can be. They're just in it for,
you know, the money grab, or they're in for what
it looks, what they look like on social media.

Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
They hosting pictures on social I hear what you say.
They have bigg list that can be there. Remember Pull
Pierce from the Boston Celtics. He was in a nightclub
in la he was stabbed, all right. So when you're
going through a situation like this, these people have what
we call beer muscles. They start drinking and they see
an athlete, he ain't that big, ain't that tough? They
want to pick a five with them, and they know
they got money. So stay away from those places. Most

(01:08:56):
athletes when they're on the road, they don't even go
to restaurants. No, they at a room service. They don't
want to go out. They don't want to they don't
want to leave the room exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
So my poison gate my point, why doesn't this happen
to Tom Brady.

Speaker 1 (01:09:07):
Why is Joe Burrow? How come he's not getting robbed?
He's not putting very smarter? They are smarter.

Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
They are smarter, Yes, yes, they are smarter. They're not
putting themselves in a situation that exposes them to be
in theft that three thirty in the morning on a
Monday night. I'm glad you Burrow, you have something better
to do. I'm glad you broke Tom Brady's name. Okay,
because the NFL right now issued a media release a
video tom Brady telling people in the NFL don't gamble.

Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
Gambling right now is becoming a major problem. Yeah, it
really has. Okay, seven weeks ago since for Detroit Lion
players and a Washington command to play was suspended for
various lengths of games, six games, whatever it may be.
Isaiah Rodgers now is going to be added to that list.
He's accused of pervasive betting. This isn't good. So my
question is this, why would the NFL send Tom Brady's

(01:09:59):
video out to these people. Why wouldn't they send a
video of Calvin Ridley from the Buffalo Bills who missed
an entire season because he was gambling and they threw
him out of the league for a year, And he
should be on the video saying look at me, I
lost a season. I lost a season in my career.
Tom Brady hasn't lost anything, He never gambled. Why would
Tom Brady be the guy.

Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
It's a stupidest thing, absolutely ridiculous. Maybe they thought Tom
Brady has a voice, that people will listen to him,
and that he has some kind of push to promote
not to gamble. But yeah, absolutely, get Calvin on the video,
let him talk about it. He was spended for the
entire season and now he's taken all that back. You

(01:10:38):
wish he never gambled at all, and he's completely against it. Right.

Speaker 1 (01:10:42):
Look, Calvin Ridley is now with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He
was suspended the entire twenty twenty two season from arizona'
connell's defensive back Josh Sua. He was banned definitely in
twenty nineteen. And the NFL, I will tell you here
and now, they have a gambling problem. And I promise
you there are some bigger names out there that will
not be released. So maybe the NFL won't release and
someone will find them. It's gonna get there. It's gonna

(01:11:04):
be like the baseball situation with Pete Rose. Look, you
have money, you have money, you just want to spend
and gambling it is fun. People do it. All the time,
and it's gonna hit the NFL and it's not gonna
be pretty.

Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
I'm telling you, my biggest fear with gambling in all sports,
not even just the NFL, is that, Yes, I understand,
it's there's more attraction to the game. It gets you
more involved in the game, but it loses the integrity
of the game. The integrity of the game is skewed.
Games can be skewed, go down can be lopsided. There

(01:11:38):
could be, you know, side betting where receivers are gonna
start missing balls or whatever. It may be dead that
the integrity of the game is in jeopardy. Don't that
scares the heck out of me. I'm with you, and
gambling is involved in sports.

Speaker 1 (01:11:53):
But I will tell you as much, gambling to some
extent has made the NFL as popular as is what
I mean by that fantasy foot gambling. Yeah, you know,
and you have people who basically are not really big
NFL fans, but they're fans of the people they play
with on their fantasy team. And I've gone to games
and I've heard people like at a Cincinnati Bengal game,
here they be rooting for a guy on the other team.

(01:12:14):
Against the Bengals because they have him in their fantasy league.
But you know what, it's very healthy for the league
because people a you know the players' names, and they
follow the game of football. So gambling is health football.
It really has so.

Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
Yeah, sure, no, I don't disagree with you there, Dad,
But there's this man, this sliver of the line, Dad,
this sliver of the line that we're teeter tottering over
and back and forth. And once did Teeter Tarter's over
one side too much? I think it ruins. It's going
to ruin the integrity of the game. There's going to
be a situation that comes out where a player drops

(01:12:50):
a touchdown pass no doubt because he knows that he
won the game.

Speaker 1 (01:12:54):
They exactly right. Hey, look, don't they know the rules?
The rules prohibit betting on any NFL game or event,
and from betting at all games while you're at the
NFL facility. If you really want to bet, have a
buddy of yours.

Speaker 4 (01:13:07):
Bet.

Speaker 1 (01:13:07):
If you play in the NFL and you like a
college game on a Saturday, whatever it may be, you
come to me. You give me fifty bucks. He looked
at But fifty there's ways to do it.

Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
Sure, there's ways to do it. Don't be that stupid
go back. They'll they'll go back to the friend and
then they'll come back to the player and the player
will still get suspended for a year.

Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
That's why I'm with you right there. Alex Ferman it

Firman's tweets at Andy Furman. FSR eight seven seven ninety

Speaker 4 (01:15:00):
All right, here we go. We're gonna go to corn Hole.
Do you guys know anything about Cornhole?

Speaker 1 (01:15:05):
Oh? Yeah, oh yeah, that's a I think that's what
was born in Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (01:15:09):
That's a Midwest game. I mean, that's you know we
play that every Sunday. That's a tradition right here.

Speaker 4 (01:15:14):
Well, all right, then then you guys will have to
ride the Chicago Land Spinners. They're gonna take down the
Southern Georgia Sliers. I'm guessing you guys gonna go with
the Spinners if there's Chicago.

Speaker 1 (01:15:28):
You know, is there a line on this or just
straight up it's it's.

Speaker 4 (01:15:31):
Minus one sixty five for the Spinners.

Speaker 1 (01:15:34):
Okay, you're up first.

Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
No, I'm going with Southern Southern had yeah, oh yeah,
they got better corn roll players.

Speaker 4 (01:15:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:15:40):
Well think about it. They're in the sun all year long.
They're playing all year long. Chicago they're paying. Then you
play Cornerland door they're playing indoor, you know, maybe halfway
through the year. But think you know, then they're playing
I got Southern, You're I got Chicago.

Speaker 4 (01:15:53):
Damn.

Speaker 1 (01:15:53):
That's harsh to the sun.

Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
All right.

Speaker 1 (01:15:56):
Uh you should see when we're off to you.

Speaker 4 (01:15:58):
Yeah, I'm sure, I'm sure. Cricket very exciting. U. Let's
you know the the Ashes, the Ashes tournament. Uh, it's
actually England versus Australia both minus one ten.

Speaker 1 (01:16:13):
It's a pick them. Who do you guys like cricket.
We're talking, uh, eure up, go ahead. I got Australia.

Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
I think they practice cricket by hitting all the bugs
around in Australia, you know what normally practice.

Speaker 1 (01:16:25):
Normally I would go to Australia. But I don't think
England would permit Australia to win. I think there's are
shenanigans in this where's this match going to be at
in England? Yeah, it's actually in England. Definitely. I definitely
got England in. Give me for Australia. All right, we'll see,
we'll see the Aussies all right. On to.

Speaker 4 (01:16:44):
Uh, We're going on to darts. More exciting sports here
for you. Alex Germany versus Hong Kong. Germany's minus two
and a half Hong Kong's plus two and a half
or minus two and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
Take it or leave it whatever you want. But you
got you know, in my household, my wife is the
best darts player really. Oh yeah, she's great. Yeah, it's
like a hidden secret. I had no idea that this
was a thing. But you know, give me Hong Kong.
I'm gonna give go to Hong Kong.

Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
You know, you know I hate to characterize and broadbrush people.
But aren't people from Hong Kong rather smaller people than normal?
I mean they are, it'll be harder for them to
hit the dartboard. I'm thinking they're more disciplined. Pete could
very well, but I'm going with Germany. I'm going with Germany.
All right. You guys are split on that one. Very exciting.

Speaker 4 (01:17:33):
All right, So we're gonna do some soccer, Alex, you
know soccer or no? Yes, sir, yes, I know.

Speaker 1 (01:17:41):
I don't know anything, and.

Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
I'll teach you some stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:17:45):
Andy, you don't know anything, do you? I know nothing
about nothing?

Speaker 4 (01:17:48):
All right?

Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
Cool?

Speaker 2 (01:17:48):
Cool, So try to act like you don't know anything, Alex.

Speaker 1 (01:17:52):
So it's easy for me.

Speaker 4 (01:17:53):
This is the Italian Soccer League. Uh, it's the A League.
I don't know whatever that means.

Speaker 1 (01:17:59):
Uh, specially just better than the BE League.

Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
Spezia versus Verana?

Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
Am I saying those? Right? I have no idea? Okay,
all right, well they can't be that good. Yeah, they're
going against each other. Where's where's this one at? You
know what a match is?

Speaker 2 (01:18:14):
Verana?

Speaker 1 (01:18:15):
It's is it Verana of Verona? It's probably Verona.

Speaker 2 (01:18:18):
That's why whatever you want to saying it, all right,
what do you got?

Speaker 1 (01:18:21):
I got?

Speaker 2 (01:18:23):
Who's with Spirezzia? Give me Sperezzia.

Speaker 1 (01:18:25):
You gotta go with the whole team, because you know
when they on the on these pitches out there in Europe,
they go crazy. They got moats around the stadium. Really,
so the whole team has to win. If the whole
team doesn't win, they don't live, do a live. You
gotta go with Verona Verana. I don't even know what.
You don't have to pronounce.

Speaker 2 (01:18:43):
Home.

Speaker 1 (01:18:44):
I like Sprezza. See, all right, what do you got?
What's next? All right?

Speaker 4 (01:18:48):
Last last one, you know, this is an exciting one.
One you guys actually know and you guys can commit
to and talk about off air. Is the NBA basketball game.
The heat verst the Nuggets will just say this, bread's
eight and a half. What are you guys going with?

Speaker 2 (01:19:03):
Go dad, you good dude, I got nuggets, Nuggets all I'll.

Speaker 1 (01:19:08):
Take the heat with eight. Yeah, I'll take the heat
with eight. There you go, that's what we'll do. He
with a We'll see what happens next week. Stay with us.
Mym NFL Pro Bowl will have that coming right up.
This is Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio. By
the way, we're broadcasting live from the tire rack dot
Com studios. Ty rack dot com. We'll help you get
there and the match selection fast free shipping, free road

(01:19:28):
has a protection and over ten thousand recommended in storellers
tier rat dot com. The way tire buying should be. Yes,
he is Alex Ferman, sitting in for my friend Jeff Schwartz.
No nepotism here because he has a background in radio,
also known as Alex Midnight. That's right right.

Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
If anyone out there thinks that I am on the
radio today just because my last name is Furman, you
are wrong.

Speaker 1 (01:19:52):
They are wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
I worked my butt off, dad, maybe for this beat,
behind this desk, in front of this mic, talking with you,
I worked my butt off.

Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
I deserve to be Were you thinking that maybe changing? No,
I don't know. All right, we're going to talk about
something that may be right up your rally. Because you
played ball. You know you're a ball or I'm not.
In high school, you ran track, you played football, you
wrestled college, you played football, and basically in high school
what I did I kept scored for the basketball team.

(01:20:22):
I mean, you know, everybody's got to do a job, right,
that's when I was a manager. But here's the difference.
Though I knew I was kind of funneling in. I
knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to do
that the rest of my life, be like a pr
kind of guy. And I was, Okay, that's what I
wanted to do. You know, when people play athletics, I
don't think there's a thought process saying this is what

(01:20:45):
I want to do the rest of my life. You
try for the high school team, you play college football.
You never, in your wild these dreams, thought that you
played in the pros.

Speaker 2 (01:20:51):
I don't think well, as I mean, as a high schooler,
you're always like, I hope that I make it into
the pros. But then as I with my senior year,
I only grew up to be about five five, five six.
There's no way, d that I'm playing football in the NFL,
not at not at my weight. That my weight then
I was about one hundred and thirty pounds. Back then,

(01:21:13):
I needed to bunk up about seventy pounds more. But no,
no kids in that age, you know, in high school
kids and they they don't really think about what they're
going to do for the rest of their lives. They're
just hoping that maybe they have enough talent to play
in college and then hopefully make it in You.

Speaker 1 (01:21:28):
Yeah, while you were wrestling and working out and running
and lifting weights while I was in high school. While
you're doing that, when I was in school, I was
running letters to various sports teams to see if I
get a job with them. That's what I wanted to do.
And to be honest with you, I'm still doing that.

Speaker 2 (01:21:41):
You know, honestly, Like, I don't want to say that
that work ethic does not exist anymore, because there are
kids out there that have that kind of work ethic,
that have that kind of foresight to know what they're
going to do the next ten, fifteen years down the line.
But a lot of kids, a lot of young kids, man,
they just want to work about what they're going to
do the next fifteen minutes.

Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
Yeah, you're right, Yeah, I'm with you. You're okay. Now
we're going to talk about Deon Sanders, because when he talks,
everybody seems to listen. Neon. Deon Sander's the new football
coach University of Colorado. I want to hear your thoughts
on this. He has seen seventy plays, seventy depart from
his roster since his arrival last winter. It's legal, but

(01:22:22):
it's right. He basically told these kids when he came in,
did a coach, you ain't playing for me, so get out,
get into this transfer portal and get out. So he's
done that, but he's got some criticism. Yeah, the University
of Pittsburgh coach Paton R. Doozy, who basically Patt Nodoosey
was the offensive coordinator here at Cincinnati for a while.
Patten Noozey says Sandy's method of roster building his bid

(01:22:43):
for college football coaches across the country. What do you
think about that?

Speaker 2 (01:22:46):
So as a football player myself, when kids are playing
football for a team. When my first year at Thomas Moore,
I chose to play there because I love the coach.
I saw his vision. I trusted him to win games,
and I love them. And you know, every before every game,
you know, players are going through their walkthroughs, they're warming up,

(01:23:09):
they're catching passes, they're getting ready for the game. We're
all in the locker room together. And he was such
a hype man. He would come in right before we're
about to walk out. To the tunnel and just get
everybody in that locker room hyped up, ready to play,
ready to battle, ready to win.

Speaker 1 (01:23:27):
And I love that.

Speaker 2 (01:23:28):
Then year two, coach moves to new school, we get
a new head coach. The new head coach brings a
totally different vibe. It wasn't exciting in the locker room.
The goal was the same, shore to win games, but
the intensity was not there. Really, the trust it wasn't.
There is a new guy, he's bringing in a new system.

(01:23:50):
Players are a little bit weary about trusting believing in him,
and the whole dynamic was just different. And then that's
the same situation here with Sanders moving to Colorado.

Speaker 1 (01:24:03):
And honestly, I.

Speaker 2 (01:24:04):
Appreciate Sanders being upfront and honest I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (01:24:09):
As a player, I want my coach to be just
like that.

Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
Some players can adapt, right, some players cannot, and those
who cannot, de Deon told them to move on and go. Now,
the coach at the at the University of Fit is saying,
this isn't really what the transfer transfer portal was designed for.
What's really it's not what it's meant for. It's being
abused in this fashion. But as a player. I appreciate

(01:24:35):
Dion being truth, being upfront and saying you're not gonna
make it here. This is not the you know, the
style of play, the style, the vibe here before I was.
It's different now and I'm bringing in a whole new
set of rules. I'm bringing in a whole new set
of vibes, and this is what it's going to be.
If you don't like it, get out well, I'm hearing

(01:24:56):
for you now. I'm gonna back up a little bit.
When you play for Thomas Moore and the coaching change,
are you tell me now? Because look, I never played
the game. You know, I played too and touch on
the streets of Brooklyn, but I never played the game
at a competitive level and a collegiate level that a
coach could get you to play harder and better because
of what he does prior to a game. He said
that the first year coach there, like he had you ready.

(01:25:17):
You were ready to run through a wall, roll yea
through gasoline. And the next guy was kind of more
of a low key kind of guy. So you didn't
have the enthusiasm.

Speaker 3 (01:25:24):
Is that it?

Speaker 1 (01:25:25):
He didn't play your best?

Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
You know, we see this a lot uh in Division
one football more so, right, players, if you get an
offer with from Alabama versus Auburn, Right, two amazing schools,
two amazing programs. How is a player going to pick
and choose what school to go to. Well, they're going
to gravitate one way or another, to the coach, to

(01:25:46):
their coaches, their coaching style, the vision, and if they're
gonna play, and if they're going to play. That's a
big factor. That is a big factor. But also player development. Right,
So having a coach that you believe in, having a
coach that you trust in, that's gonna sway your decision
one way or another. So these players in Colorado, if
Deon's coming in and saying we're switching everything up. If

(01:26:09):
you don't like the way that I run my program,
get out. I don't blame Deon Sanders for being upfront
and honest.

Speaker 1 (01:26:17):
I don't want I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:26:18):
Want Deon Sanders looking at his players saying, you know,
we're gonna try and fetch you in. I know you
played last year. We're gonna try and fitch you with
They were terrible last year, but it doesn't matter. We're
gonna try and fitch you in. And then they don't
play the entire year. Maybe it's their junior or senior year.
They got two yors left to play, they don't get
to play. I want a coach that's gonna be upfront

(01:26:39):
and honest. We're changing the program around. This is how
we're gonna run our program. If you don't like it,
get out.

Speaker 1 (01:26:45):
What he's doing is legal. I mean, it's not the rules.
But here's the funny thing is when Pat Nardouzi first
commented about Deon Sanders, you know what sanders first remark was,
I don't know who he is. I love that. That
was great. I don't know the guy. But it's funny
because Nardoozy comes he says, look, it looks banned on
college football coaches across the country. The reflection is on
one guy right now. But when you look at it

(01:27:06):
overall those kids that have moms and dads and brothers
and sisters and goals in life. I don't know how
many of those seventy that left really wanted to leave,
or they were kicked on the butt to get out.
You know what I will tell you. Out of the
seventy of those kids, and they are not going to play,
they're happy as anything. Right now, that they're going to
go to a school where they play. So the bottom
lineers you want to play? Is sure, but it gets
whose problem. It is not Sanders, it's not his problem.

(01:27:28):
It doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (01:27:29):
He doesn't care if this kid chose to go play
at Colorado because mom and dad can drive up from
Denver and go see it, right, go see their son play.

Speaker 1 (01:27:38):
He doesn't care about that. What is his main focus.

Speaker 2 (01:27:41):
We're winning football games and that's what he wants to do,
and that's his vision.

Speaker 1 (01:27:46):
And if he has to change the program, let him
change the program. Let those kids play somewhere else. I
don't care. And look, who knows how successful they're going
to be anyway. Next year, maybe they'll be successful. I
think they will. I think they're gonna win. I think
he well, and you know what, he's not gonna stay
there that long. I mean, he's just there Colorado. Maybe
a year or two, they'll win three. Then he's gonna
go to Florida State, where he played. I mean that's
because that happened. He's gonna leave, I'm sure. But you know,

(01:28:07):
they're they're all enthusiastic over there. They're selling a lot
of tickets and he's gonna win. He really is. And
I think that when you know that you're not gonna play,
kids aren't stupid. I mean, if you were on the
team last year and didn't play on a bad team,
you think you're gonna play now. So obviously what you
really want to do is play. You put your name
in the transfer portal. Now you may not play in
a Power five conference school. You may play in a

(01:28:29):
lower Division I school. But so what you're gonna play?
You play college?

Speaker 2 (01:28:32):
Who cares if you go to your education for free?
Who cares if you go to Western Kentucky? And but
you're playing. You're playing starting quarterback, you're playing, starting tight end,
whatever your.

Speaker 1 (01:28:40):
Position may be. You're playing the game.

Speaker 2 (01:28:42):
And who cares if mom and dad, your brother, sister,
whoever is not showing up to the game, they can
always watch it on TV.

Speaker 1 (01:28:47):
You know what the name of the game is. It's
all about me? Right when you think about it, What
did what did Dion do? He left Jackson State to
go to Colorado? Now he did, he did build Jackson
State up its historical block university. But you know what,
more money, bigger opportunity, bigger stage. That's what he did.
And he's gonna win, and he will win. That's gonna win.

(01:29:07):
And it all starts with the coach.

Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
It all starts with the coach's vision and the program
that he's putting together. I think Colorado's gonna be quite
successful in the next year or two. And we'll see
what if he If he does move on, we'll see you.
Speaking of leaving, you know, from one place to another.
The Minnesota Vikings released they're running back Dalvin Cook. This
guy at four straight Pro Bowl seasons. I mean, if
you're a fan, okay, you got to say yourself, Hey,

(01:29:29):
win a minute. Dalvin Cook. Pretty good player, right. The
scrimmage odds per games is twenty nineteen. He's second behind
Derek Henry one hundred and ten point seven yards a game.
Last year Minnesota won the division. You gotta believe they
got a better chance even this year.

Speaker 1 (01:29:43):
Why Aaron Rodgers at Green Bay is out of the division.
So if you're a fan right now, you're jumping at it,
jumping up and down and say, why on God's Green
Earth is Dalvin Cook gone? Right? I mean, I just
don't understand.

Speaker 2 (01:29:56):
Well, there's two schools of thought here.

Speaker 1 (01:29:58):
He's twenty eight. I know that right. One.

Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
One, people are really upset that he's gone. You're losing
a great quarterback running back. Two, some people might understand
because the Vikings are saving some money on their cap.

Speaker 1 (01:30:10):
Correct, right, correct, But let me give you some pros
and cons.

Speaker 2 (01:30:13):
Please do to what's going on. One pro, he's a
really good player. Cook has made the Pro Bowl in
each of the last four seasons and the only NFL
player to rush for eleven ten yards plus in the
last four years. Now, the Jets say he goes to
the Jets because that's kind of.

Speaker 1 (01:30:31):
Good Jets, right. They went vocal, they they went public
to say they want to make it all those said
he's go to the Jets.

Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
Now, the Jets had the number twenty six ranked rushing
offense in the league last year. Nothing to ride home about.
It's not the worst offense, but not the very best.
You could probably you know, they could probably use some help.
Another one another pro, It keeps him away from Miami
and Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (01:30:53):
That's that's you know what. People don't think about that
many times when this trip, when this trades a movement,
because obviously the Jets are looking to win that division,
the threats in that division right now. Obviously Buffalo in Miami, Buffalo,
and those two teams Buffalo in Miami, who really could
use a good running game, especially Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
Now, let me talk about some cons here, okay, Now
if one there isn't a really big fill or a
big need on the Jets offense. Right they got Hall,
who was on his way to be an offensive rookie
of the year, yeah, before he tore his ACL. And
then you got Carter who flashed a few times, and
then Night who rushed about seventy six rushing yards for
the first three games. Not there's some depth there, but

(01:31:34):
they don't really, you know, they may not need him right?
And then too it is financial resources. Does the Jets
are they able to pay Cook what he wants? You know,
Cook might want big money because he's a four four
time pro bowler, he has amazing stats, he's won, he
was second second in rushing yards. So should the Jets

(01:31:58):
spend their money elsewhere rather than you know, giving out
a big contract to Cook. And then you want to
hear the overall problem, please do there's the overall pomp.
The NFL really isn't a running game anymore.

Speaker 1 (01:32:10):
Dad. You know what's not all passing.

Speaker 2 (01:32:14):
And if it is a running game, you got quarterbacks
like Burrow and Allen who's running outside of the pockets
and picking up the ten fifteen yards even on their
own legs.

Speaker 1 (01:32:23):
Hit the running back. It's not even as good as
bald Cook is. As good as he is as he
was he was making fourteen million year. Okay, you could
get a running back on the second, third, fourth, fifth
round of the NFL draft and have a kid play
for two or three years, and at twenty eight years
of age, a lot of the seams on that tie
have been run and used up, so I don't know

(01:32:45):
how much is left, but you hit it right on
the head. This is a passing league. Way back in
the day, every team had a full back. I think
the only team that uses a fullback right now on
the Baltimore Ravens. Other than that, there's this like the
full back of the NFL is like the dinosaur. It's extinct.
They don't use it. Running back to getting that way
too right now, that's true, they really are true. They

(01:33:05):
are more in the blocking position now.

Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
I when the quarterbacks in the pocket or they're going
out for a screen pass, and that's really that's all
that is they're really used for now. This would be
an interesting story to just to kind of follow up.
We'll see if they go to the Jets. But although
Cook did put on his Instagram a picture of him
dancing in the Miami Stadium, so that might be a
little foreshadowing that he might be interested going to Miami.

Speaker 1 (01:33:31):
You know, I don't know why anybody would want to
play there because it's so hot. Seriously, I mean, don't you.

Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
Think they'd rather play in hot than in twenty three.

Speaker 1 (01:33:38):
I wouldn't want to play hate that. I wouldn't want
to play in Buffalo. I wouldn't want to play in
Green Bay, But I don't think i'd want to play
in Miami. I think, if I have my druthers, i'd
rather play in a dome. I play Indianapolis or New Orleans.

Speaker 2 (01:33:49):
Yeah, or you know, like in Cincinnati where it's hot
in the summer, then it cools off in the windfall
and then you get a couple of snow games.

Speaker 1 (01:33:56):
And people don't talk about this much, but it's true.
I think there's a tremendous advance. Like Drew Brees, I
think he had a tremendous advantage playing in New Orleans
and the Dome, and also Peyton Manning when he played
all those years in Indianapolis in the Dome. There's a
tremendous advantage there. Well, only half of the games that
he's but still right, I mean, yeah, but still yeah,
I can understand that. But I don't think I don't

(01:34:18):
think weather is really all that factor because look at
Aaron Rodgers. He played in an outside stadium in Green Bay,
in the cold weather, in the rain, in the muck,
in the on gratsfield, you know, and he put up
an amazing stats.

Speaker 2 (01:34:31):
So, you know, I don't think the Dome really has
that much of a fact that that advantage on a quarterback.

Speaker 1 (01:34:38):
I don't think some of the Buffalo Bills are good
playing that. When they played the Bengals in the playoff
game this year, they had lost because they played in
the cold and the snow, you know, and both teams
played there, and you know, really I think it was
the first time Joe Burrow played in snow. Right, that's
not an argument. I mean, it's it's just it's just
sour grapes, it is. Yeah, So absolutely all right, he's

(01:34:59):
Alex Furman, I'm Andy Ferman. You can get him on
Twitter at Furman's tweets, we'll read him, we'll retweet him,
or at Andy Furman FSR eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox that's our phone number, eight seven seven nine
to nine six sixty three sixty nine. At the end
of this hour, we have the famous blame game. That's
what we got. But right now, first golf. What's next? Well,

(01:35:20):
that's next though Stevie won the morals the money. You
will explain that in just about a minute. Okay, this
is Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports. Ready, and we're
live from the tiraq dot com studios. He's Alex Ferman
and for Jeff Schwartz. Hey, what you got a filling
in for a big man? You know that, don't you?
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:35:37):
I really I'm gracious for this opportunity.

Speaker 1 (01:35:39):
I guess I did. Stop sucking up.

Speaker 2 (01:35:41):
No, I'm not sucking up, dad, No, I'm just gracious
for this opportunity. I guess I did good enough, well
enough on the first time around that they asked me
to come back and go. Well, maybe they couldn't anybody
else to fill in, yeah, or maybe you're just too
hard to work with. No one else wanted to work.

Speaker 1 (01:35:53):
I don't think a lot of people want to work
with me. There you go. Okay, Now we got an
interesting topic over here, because everybody has an opinion on
this one. Saudi Arabia, they were agreement with the PGA tour.
That kind of walks the latest in a series of
high profile investments by them to transform their country into
a global sports and entertainment power. So the question I

(01:36:13):
have for you, mister Alex, what's gonna be next? Are
they gonna buy into the NBA and Major League Baseball?
Because they wanted to the footing and this could be
the beginning and they got the money they do.

Speaker 2 (01:36:23):
They do have the money with the PIE I think
for the for the NB. Well, let's start with the NFL, right, okay,
NFL No, I think it's only it's such an American thing,
the NFL. I can't see any other parts of the
world really gaining interest in American football. Now you have
the international games that are played overseas in Germany, England,

(01:36:46):
but it's not for exposure.

Speaker 1 (01:36:47):
It's not exposure for the game. I think it's it's
more of a gimmick.

Speaker 2 (01:36:52):
In my opinion, is get rid of those games who
in Germany or who in England really cares if Jacksonville
Jaguars are playing there with the.

Speaker 1 (01:36:59):
Oriental jab Wars because he's from there.

Speaker 2 (01:37:01):
That's why the dude don't even know who the starting
quarterback is or even the functionality of the game.

Speaker 1 (01:37:06):
They're just going there just to spend a Sunday. It's
an event. It's something different, it's certain. It's just like
different when Messi comes to Cincinnati, I'm gonna go. It's
gonna be an event, but it's not for the exposure
of the game. It's more of just a gimmick. That's
It's it's stupid. It's ridiculous. Help the NFL on a
global basis, it really does, and what aspects well people

(01:37:26):
start to learn and and follow the NFL. No, and
I think they have talked about expansion, maybe in England
one time. No, that would be really okay. The game
team in England. Can imagine going from Seattle to play
in England. That's ridiculous, or Miami to England's ridiculous. Have
to state there a month. I don't think there's not
enough world interest in the NFL for this to happen.

(01:37:48):
I don't think so. Now I agree. I'll tell you what,
because there is no college football in those countries that
you could follow a guy's career from college to the
next level. That's why it's so popular here.

Speaker 2 (01:37:57):
And I don't even think, at least in mine alers
not even a semi professional league.

Speaker 1 (01:38:04):
Overseas for for football American football. So you're ruling out this, ruling.

Speaker 2 (01:38:11):
Out NFL, NBA, possibly but not likely, not likely, Tommy.
Why possibly because there is more basketball around the world
than the NFL, no doubt. So there might be, you know,
we might see something, but my bet is there's not one.
I would be surprised if the NFL commissioner Adam Silver

(01:38:34):
signs a deal like the PGA signed a deal.

Speaker 1 (01:38:36):
Well, he was on the radio the other day with
Dan Patrick, and you can hear Dan Patrick every day
right here on many of these same Fox Sports radio affiliates.
Adam Silva said, and this is a Thursday, I think
he was not surprised by the merger between the PGA
Tour and Live Golf. Said that as golf as a
golf fan, which he is, he believed that the fight
between the two companies was starting to hurt golfers. The
deal he says will include a significant financial investment into

(01:38:59):
the PGA two from the Public Investment Fund, the PIF,
a wealth fund which is owned by Saudi Arabian government
and the owner of Live Golf. Now, how much more
influence PIF and the Saudi government will be able to
acquire the sports world through future investments, that's the question.
And I think Major League Baseball could be another one.

Speaker 2 (01:39:18):
Major League Baseball could be another one. But then that's
just a different part of the world though, because you know,
we were talking about, you know, Europe, there's not a
lot of big baseball in Europe. Now, South America huge
baseball over in like like Japan, the Dominican, the Dominican,
the Caribbeans huge baseball, Japan big baseball, China baseball, but

(01:39:40):
not in the middle of the country, not in not
in uh, you know, where Saudi Arabia is.

Speaker 1 (01:39:46):
I don't think there's a lot of interest in baseball.
I really do. Basketball might be next.

Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
Because the NBA did They did start allowing outside investing
on minority parts of the team. So there are parts
of outside investing outside of the United States to invest
into teams and to gain interest, to gain popularity.

Speaker 1 (01:40:08):
I think maybe, but I would we would have to
wait and see for the end. Here's what Adam Silva
told Dan Patrick the other day. Obviously, he says our
finals means the NBA Finals are distributed virtually everywhere in
the world, meaning you can watch on TV anywhere in
the world, any country. And he said the sport, as
you mentioned, is played everywhere in the world. It's an
opportunity to bring people together. He's not saying no. I

(01:40:30):
think he's leaving the door open, but he did say
that there's no Saudi back fund and no Saudi back
fund that has tried to invest in an NBA team yet.
But you have people from China investing in NBA teams.
I think the owner of the Brooklyn Nets is from China,
so it could happen. Look, as I said coming into
this segment, it's morals or money, and who usually wins money.

(01:40:51):
Money wins. If the money's on the table and they're
gonna buy an NBA team, you have to be from
Saudi Arabia. That's just the way it's gonna be.

Speaker 2 (01:40:58):
I think this will be an interesting developed to keep
an eye on. I can see NFL going maybe MLB
definitely know to the NFL. I don't think there's two.
There's not enough world interest in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (01:41:10):
Okay, he says, is Adam Silva talking right now? We
allow funds to invest in teams, but not control teams,
not to have influence over teams. What does that mean
if you if you own a team, you have an
influence over a team, not minority Okay, he says. So
to own an NBA team, that has to be an
individual with a certain percent of the team to control it.

(01:41:30):
All right, I get that. I think it's gonna happen,
all right because the Salvadis already have bought Newcastle United
in the EPL, the English Premier League, so they're on
their way. And I understand that you get a good
footprint across the world by owning sports teams. That's the
way it is. Yeah, no, no, in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (01:41:48):
And uh, the NBA, like I said, change this rule
last year to allow sovereign wealth funds to buy minority
stakes in the NBA team, increasing the group of potential
investors to also include pension funds in your versity endowments,
but their minority shares.

Speaker 1 (01:42:04):
It's it's gaining.

Speaker 2 (01:42:06):
Uh, it is a way to gain a foothold overseas
for sovereign investing. But I don't think current NBA ruling
is going to allow the PIF to own a majority.

Speaker 1 (01:42:19):
Well, Adam Silver had is a state of this NBA
address the other day and he was asked by someone,
I think it was on ESPN about possible expansion and
he says, yeah, down the road, they will expand why
would they Expand I'll tell you why because when an
expansion team comes into the NBA, they do not share
revenue on broadcasting money. So that means that they'll come

(01:42:40):
in there and not get that broadcasting money and the
other teams will get that money and they got money
from the expansion teams coming in. So it's a great
way for teams to get a little more wealth. Yeah,
so obviously, and there's teams. There's cities out there that
he's gonna get a Seattle a team. Seattle lowis the
team to Oklahoma City, So Seattle's paying to get a team,
and maybe Vegas, maybe Vegas to get a team.

Speaker 2 (01:42:58):
I think I can see the NBA doing a deal
with solid Arabia in the same fashion as the PGA.
It may be set up different obviously it will probably
be set up different with the minority of the investments
rather than the majority. But I think to your point,
Adam does see a growth how this could does a

(01:43:21):
value benefits? Right, just basketball in general and the comparison
pularity right, Well.

Speaker 1 (01:43:26):
Do you hit it on the head. The comparison is
foolish because what they do with the PGA, they put
the whole league lockstock and barrel and they own it
under the umbrella of the PGA. Yes, as far as
the NBA is concerned, they'll have one individual probably buying
one team, not going to buy a league. He's going
to buy a team for a percentage of that team perhaps.

Speaker 2 (01:43:43):
But under current NBA ruining, it can't be majority. It
has to be on minorities.

Speaker 1 (01:43:50):
The team. But still it's it's the same.

Speaker 2 (01:43:54):
Goal at the very end, is to expand the worldwide
interest in basketball, and I think that's good.

Speaker 1 (01:43:59):
For the game. I'm with you right there. There you go.
So money's gonna rule over everything else that it usually does.
Alex Furman, Andy Furman, right here, it's Fox Sports Sunday
and Fox Sports Radio, and the NFL might have a
hard time finding a team this preseason We're gonna explain
all of that, but first our guy Kevin wired with
all your sports.

Speaker 4 (01:44:17):
Well.

Speaker 3 (01:44:18):
The big event on Saturday was the Stanley Cup Finals
Game four. Is Vegas getting one game away from winning
a championship as they beat the Florida Panthers three to two,
setting up a potential clinching game five Tuesday evening in
Las Vegas. NBA NWS to Toronto Raptors will hire Darko
Verzakovich as their next head coach. He was a assistant

(01:44:39):
coach with the Memphis Grizzlies. In tennis, Igasviatik is the
French Open champion for the third time in the last
four years. International soccer, Manchester City the UIFA Champions League
champions as they beat Inter Milan one nilm In golf
at the Canadian Open ct pen at the top of
the leader board Rory McElroy two sh behind the lead.

(01:45:01):
At the Belmont States it's arc Angelo who claims the crown.
Jenna Atanucci, the trainer, is the first female trainer to
win a triple crown race. In Major League Baseball. The
Oakland Athletics have actually now won four games in a
row as they beat the Milwaukee Brewers four to three
in a ten inning game, Orioles over the Royals six
to one. Mets snap their seven game losing streak by

(01:45:23):
beating the Pirates five to one. The Diamondbacks beat the
Tigers five nothing, Dodgers nine to nothing over the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Rockies follow the San Diego Padres three to two.
Nationals lose to the Atlanta Braves six ' four. The
Rangers beat the Rays eight to four, the Cubs over
the Giants four nothing as Kyle Hendricks had a no
hitter into the eighth inning, and the Yankees they beat

(01:45:46):
their arts rival in the Boston Red Sox three to one.
Back to you guys, thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (01:45:50):
keV have a great day. All right, someone needs to
step up. We'll get to that in just about a minute.
He's Alex Ferman. I for Jeff Schwartz. I'm Andy Ferman.
And by the way, we're brought to you by Progressive Insurance.
Progressive Spundling Easy and Affordable. Got a multi policy discount
by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat, ATV and more, all
your protection in one place, Bundle and save at Progressive
dot Com. We got the blame game coming up. I'd

(01:46:12):
say it about five or six minutes for now. Now,
the National Football League, they maybe have a tough time
now finding a team for hard knocks. You know what
hard Knocks is?

Speaker 3 (01:46:20):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:46:20):
Yeah, that preseason show on HBO that you know why
they're gonna have a hard time because here for the
teams that are eligible to be on hard knocks don't
have any interest of being on hard knocks. And that
might be one big reason why it's taken so long
for the league to pick a team. Usually by now
in June, we know who's gonna be on hard knocks.
So what's gonna happen? Now? There's some rules about the
hard Knocks formula you have? What is this stupid rule?

Speaker 2 (01:46:42):
Yeah, if you're not familiar with the Hard Knocks formula. One,
they have to be they have to have a first
year head coach in place.

Speaker 1 (01:46:49):
They have to have a they don't have to be
on hard knocks if they if they have a first
year coach, right, Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:46:54):
They have to have a playoff berth in the past
two seasons. Okay, okay, that's two and then three. They
have to here on hard knocks in the past ten years.

Speaker 1 (01:47:02):
Okay, So that means like the Denver Broncos, they don't
have to be on the show this year because they
have a new head coach. Yes, okay, all right, So
the Patriots they don't have to be on the show
because they made the playoffs at least once in the
last two years. And the Dallas Cowboys won't have to
be in the show because they've appeared in the Hard
Knocks in the past ten years. But you know Jerry Jones,
he want to be on Hard Knocks. Yeah. Love, Okay.
So now we got those three rules and apply them

(01:47:24):
to everybody else. We're left with four teams that the
NFL can force to make them be on Hard Knocks
this year. The Washington Commanders, all right, the New Orleans Saints,
the Chicago Bears, and the New York Jets. If I'm
looking at this and I'm like one of those directors
for Hard Knocks, I gotta believe it's gonna be the
Jets because of Aaron Rodgers a lot of interest.

Speaker 2 (01:47:43):
Yeah, I agree, but I think there's players on the
Jets who don't want to do Hard Knocks just because
of the diction distractions by teams. Captain Justin Hardy wants
nothing to do with the show because he would believe
it's a distraction.

Speaker 1 (01:47:55):
And I would agree.

Speaker 2 (01:47:56):
Imagine going through walkthrough, Imagine going through training camp with
the camera in your face.

Speaker 1 (01:48:01):
All I know, but some of these guys lifting. As
we mentioned earlier today, when they had Hard Knocks with
Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Bengals, it was like the old
Cho Sinko show was Chad Johnson. That was honestly the
best Hard Knocks they've ever had. And I will tell
you this much, Hard Knocks has two options. They could
change the rules to get other teams involved or just
dumped the show completely. Because last year they had a
Hard Knocks in season. I never watched it. It was ridiculous.

(01:48:24):
I just think that it's done its time. A lot
of shows have just done their time and it's time
to move on. I loved Hard Knocks back then. Right now,
thanks to social media, you don't have to wait to
see what's going on inside the NFL twiny kid for
Hard Knocks, you get it the next day or that night. Yeah,
on your social media.

Speaker 2 (01:48:42):
I mean, it's a great programming and it really does
give you an insight on you know, player development and
just what It's like being in the locker room in
the coaches meeting during the preseason and you kind of,
you know, you start learning who these rookies are and
you start rooting for them.

Speaker 1 (01:49:00):
And I enjoyed the Detroit Lions, so it was pretty good.

Speaker 2 (01:49:03):
And it sucks when they don't make the team because
you really like the guy. You really you know, you
really vibe with them. Now that the last time the
Jets previously appeared on Hard Knocks was in twenty ten,
which is most remembered for Rex Ryan telling his team
to go eat Well, I'm not going to finish this sentence,
but that was the last time. The personality you do
need the person and that's why Chado Josinko was so

(01:49:23):
great on the show Chop Please.

Speaker 1 (01:49:25):
I mean that that became where he went at night
to the clubs. It was great. It was wonderful.

Speaker 5 (01:49:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:49:32):
But last year was good too because I thought Dan Campbell,
the coach of the Detroit Lions, I thought he was great.
I knew nothing about him until I saw last year,
and I really kind of fell in love with the
Detroit Lions.

Speaker 2 (01:49:40):
There really is an element of entertainment there that you're
not going to get anywhere else, obviously because it's such
a special programming. But on the flip side, think about it,
like the kind of pressure you're putting on the team,
on the organization, on the players, because it can be distracting.

Speaker 1 (01:49:56):
But some of these shows have done their time and
it's not to move on. Look remember that show inside
the NFL. Yeah, I mean I think he used to
be on HBO. I mean I didn't even know where
it's on. I think it's on the CW. I mean
it's it's just it's too much, too much football on
a daily basis on your social media. You just you
don't need these shows anymore, you really don't, that's true.
I mean I think it with the showtime from HBO,

(01:50:17):
and it's not even on showtime anymore. I think it's
on the CW. Now, I get this.

Speaker 2 (01:50:21):
Even at the Jets, Commanders or the Bears, they don't
want to do hard knocks. The NFL can force one
of the four eligible teams to be on the show anyway,
probably the Jets.

Speaker 1 (01:50:30):
I think it would be think Aaron Rodgers would want
to be on. That's just it's run up his sally begging.

Speaker 2 (01:50:35):
He is back in the spotlights just the way that
Aaron Rodgers wants to be and he gets to his
little horn and ah, if the Jets are on it,
I'm not watching the show.

Speaker 1 (01:50:44):
I'm Boycotten. Well. I will say this, if I'm a
betting man, I would say the New York Jets would
be on Hard Knocks and probably announced probably this week
because it's getting late.

Speaker 2 (01:50:54):
Yeah, they did talk about that earlier. They'll probably be
announced within I think the next two weeks is what
this article says. That so expect that coming out Hard
Knocks this year.

Speaker 1 (01:51:03):
And I will tell you this much, to be quite
honest with you, I will watch it because I.

Speaker 2 (01:51:07):
Do like Even if it's on the Jets and Aaron Rodgers,
he well, then.

Speaker 1 (01:51:10):
I definitely will watch. I want to see what this
lunatic has to say. I want to see how he
relates with the other players on the team. I mean,
he's just he's a different kind of cat. He really is.

Speaker 2 (01:51:19):
You really like Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (01:51:20):
I like his I like him when he's in uniform,
when he plays, when he's out a uniform. I don't
need to know that he's going on the ground for
four days in darkness to decide his future.

Speaker 2 (01:51:30):
I don't need to know that for me, even with
the uniform on or even off the field. It's his character.

Speaker 1 (01:51:35):
I just can't get to cocky for you.

Speaker 2 (01:51:38):
Not just cocky, is just the way he approaches everything.
You know, the whole going underneath ground. If you're going
to do that, keep that by yourself, right. You know,
we don't hear what Joe Burrow is doing to get
his mind right. It's a private thing. He's doing it
for himself because you know he has the responsibility to.

Speaker 1 (01:51:55):
Your life and your professional life one hundred percent.

Speaker 2 (01:51:58):
And the fact that he's going on these podcasts and
then talking smack it and then and then just his
performance on the field, there's this look from one athlete
to another. You can look at an athlete and say,
this guy's not given it one hundred and ten percent.
And there's games last year when he was playing in
Green Bay where he was not giving one hundred and
ten percent. You could just look on the look on

(01:52:20):
his face and then he's saying I don't want to
be here, And add from one athlete to another, you're
not rooting for that guy.

Speaker 1 (01:52:27):
You want this guy off your team. I bet if
they took a poll with the fans in Green Bay.
I bet a lot of them were happy he's even gone.

Speaker 2 (01:52:34):
I'm sure there was a huge sigh of relief now
that he's not in Green Bay.

Speaker 1 (01:52:39):
Right now, a lot of people, I know a lot
of people might be saying that after you and I
leave here at the top of the hour, possibly something
very well. And if they say that, Alex Ferman, Andy
Ferm right here, it's Fox Sports Sunday at Fox Sports Radio.
It is now time to point fingers. Why the blame
game is next? The blame game coming right up. Yes,

(01:53:03):
this is Fox Sports Sunday and Fox Sports Radiolve from
the tiraq dot Com studios. And of course I want
to thank you for joining me today. It's very difficult
to have a partner to work with you. How many
partners I have gone through here during my tenure at
Fox Sports Radio. I don't have enough hands on my fingers. Okay.
By the way, top of the hour, there'll be nine
o'clock on the East Coast. The dynamic duo of Dan

(01:53:25):
Byer and Bucky Brooks. I love Bucky Brooks. Not that
I don't love Dan Bryer, but I love I love
Bucky Brooks a little more. I like Bucky brook Bucky
and Dan Top of the Hour, nine o'clock. But right
now it's time for the blame game. You ruin me.
It's all your fault. It's your fault, it's your fault,
your fault. Maybe it's everyone's fault, the liar. That's why

(01:53:49):
there's the blame game. Let's figure out who to blame.
Here we go, Ethan, Who are gonna blame? Ethan Miller
of the Man all right?

Speaker 2 (01:53:57):
I like I usually like to start out the uh,
the blame game with.

Speaker 4 (01:54:03):
Topic of discussion from the show, and today that happened
to be Hard Knocks, So oh okay.

Speaker 2 (01:54:10):
My question is, why is it that, let's just say
Hard Knocks.

Speaker 4 (01:54:16):
You know, the ratings aren't as good as they once
were in the early two thousands. Who's the blame for this?
How do you get Hard Knocks back into it? You
guys have kind of shadowed at this.

Speaker 1 (01:54:27):
I figure it's very easy because I think there's too
much football on TV. Well I always believe you can't
get enough football, but there's too much for any one
show to be successful. And all that information that you
receive on Hard Knocks, you could get on a daily
basis on social media. So Hard Knocks has to do
one of two things, change their rules to let any
team in for this year's show, or dump the show completely.

(01:54:48):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (01:54:49):
I think it's a great It started out being a
great show, and then I think the personality is in
the show changed.

Speaker 1 (01:54:55):
No one's really that answering.

Speaker 2 (01:54:57):
No one is at o Cho Sinko anymore. You don't
and have that entertainment factor. The show's boring now, that's
why get rid of it.

Speaker 1 (01:55:05):
Nobody wants to see guys, right, Nobody wants to see
guys doing push ups in their underwear. So really, that's
what it's all about it. There's no drama. I want
to you want to see the players off the field nighttime?
What do you eat? Where are you going the clubs
at night? I want to see personality. I want to
see chat. There's no more of that anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:55:21):
They sure they might with Aaron Rodgers, but that's just
drama and I don't I'm not about to do cares
about that.

Speaker 1 (01:55:27):
I've got an idea. They should have Chad Ocho Sko
host the show.

Speaker 4 (01:55:30):
That all right, Ethan and the Furmans figure it out.
If you got questions, called the firmans collect.

Speaker 2 (01:55:38):
Here we go.

Speaker 4 (01:55:39):
Dalvin Cook was released from the Vikings. Who is to
blame for this mess in Minnesota?

Speaker 1 (01:55:45):
Well, you know, when you have a question about anything
in the world of sports, it always goes back to money.

Speaker 4 (01:55:50):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (01:55:50):
And he's gonna make fourteen MILLI this year. And I
think you could get a running back for the half
that mount he really, you really can. And at twenty
eight years of age, maybe his time is due. But
if I'm a fan of the Vikings, this guy's tremendous
running back and they won the division last year and
it looks like it's clear sailing this year without Aaron
Rodgers in that division. Why the hell you let him go?

Speaker 2 (01:56:09):
Yeah, it's not it's not Cook's fault. It's not Cooks
it's the Vikings fault. And rightfully so he he he
should get the fourteen mail, right. No, but they're trying
to save salary cap. I understand it, but I think
it's it's baloney. They it's it's the Vikings. Yeah, badman,

(01:56:30):
move on the Vikings and they're probably gonna it's gonna
come back, and it's gonna come back in Hart because
Kurk cusses a quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (01:56:37):
Sometimes you just don't know what you got. Yeah, they
won thirteen games last year, and what they do They
lost to the Giants in the playoffs. Please really? Yeah,
all right, nobody, wake up. I know you gotta blame Bucky.

Speaker 2 (01:56:50):
He's he's at the back door.

Speaker 1 (01:56:52):
He's texted, I love Bucky Brooks. Don't be picking on her.
Here we go.

Speaker 2 (01:56:56):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:56:56):
Connor McGregor knocked out the Heat mascot, who's still playing
for allowing this?

Speaker 1 (01:57:01):
Oh you had that? This is Miami's off, Like, what
are you thinking?

Speaker 2 (01:57:04):
You're bringing in an MMA fighter and doing a sprawling
thing for entertainment. Even if he goes ten percent power,
he's knocking somebody out.

Speaker 1 (01:57:14):
Who's to blame here? It's Miami. What a stupid ideas?
First idea, the moron Permercions proser brought this guy in
to have him fight Bernie the mass cut of the Heat,
who gave him a left and a right knocked him out.
Oh my goodness, I saw the video that the mask
cat was laid on his back. They took him to
the emergency room in the hospital. It's embarrassing. Yeah, that's embarrassed. Parrassing.

Speaker 2 (01:57:35):
It's totally embarrassed. Just have him wave about the crowd.

Speaker 4 (01:57:38):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (01:57:38):
Come on, Okay, we gotta think. We gotta thank our staff,
we gotta thank Ethan, gotta thank Mark Ramsey who does
everything for us. Of course, Kevin Wyre giving the sports updates,
and I want to thank you for joining us.

Speaker 2 (01:57:47):
Thank you so very muchy D for having me. Hoping
to be back here again soon, Well.

Speaker 1 (01:57:51):
We'll see about that. Bucky's next with Damn Bayer right
here on Fox Sports Radio
