Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. You heard the man.

(00:21):
Tireact dot com the way tire buying should be somewhere
around the country. It's already April fools Day, but we
will not be fooling around the night jam Pack show.
At about fifty minutes, I've got a great guest. It
is opening day, by the way. We will have a
full Final four preview, our thoughts, our predictions. We will

(00:44):
touch on the Lamar Jackson situation. He's asked on a
Baltimore later on the show. I've got a memo to
the Ravens and Lamar Jackson be careful. What you wish
you have better be careful. We'll get into the Aaron
Rodgers thing just a little bit. And of course Bernie's
trivia resumes week four. We're heading into the meat of

(01:07):
it now. It's really taken off great. That's twelve midnight Pacific,
And before I get started, I want to congratulate Caitlyn
Clark in the Iowa sam Hawkeyes tremendous win tonight. They
went out right as ten and a half point underdogs.
We heard how dominating South Carolina was, Well they weren't tonight,
were they. For those who may have resented that Caitlyn

(01:27):
Clark was Player of the year, well you can still
resent it. She's got forty one reasons on our only
two finals. But great, great effort by all South Carolina
was a hell of a team that won forty two
straight games. But I digress. We cannot bury the league.
It was opening day. It was a spectacular opening day

(01:48):
in Major League Baseball. TV ratings up, social media ratings up,
just about every metric you can imagine was pointing upward
for Major League base Ball. Aaron Judge picks up right
where he leaves off last year. Judge gets major love
from his fans in New York as Mayor Eric Adams

(02:09):
and say, hey, great, great tam great time had by
all out at Yankee Park. Oh I love going to
Yankee Park. Well, I just love Yankee Park. I love
Wrigley Stadium too. And and in Fenway Field, I love
him all. But by the way, Aaron Judge first and
bad after signing a contract that is, you know, essentially
insures he'll be a Yankee for life, not to you

(02:30):
know mention the first American League sixty two home runs,
first plate or first played appearance of the season. Second
pitch Dinger goes around the basis something right out of
field of dreams, something right out of what No, you know,
Roy Hobbs right gets back to the dugout and Aaron
and Aaron Boone says, really, by the way, Shohio Tani

(02:51):
incredible does it all? And just right on cute, right
on brand. The Angels bullpen blows it. They lose the
A's two to one, And who can forget Hunter run
Froze phenomenal catch, move over, Vic Wurtz and Joe Demnio.
We've got Hunter renfro who also plays for the Raiders
in the off season. That's a different Hunter renfro He
actually spells his name different, I'm pretty sure. But nice.

(03:12):
They'll be talking about that play for a while. And
Kevin Mitchell got the requisite love as well. But who
are we kidding? We've buried the league, Because what were
the things everybody was looking for heading into opening day?
The new rules? How might they look Forget the minor leagues,
forget spring training, the new rules, no more shift, the

(03:34):
pickoff rules. But here's the deal. The two main metrics
on everybody's raider radar. Excuse me, there's no munch to
dub raider. The two main metrics on everybody's radar coming
into Thursday. Where how long would games last? Would they
be shortened? And how many stolen bases attempt attempted would

(03:58):
there be? Now, I will tell you this that so far,
the best laid plans of men and mice pretty good.
The average length of the fifteen games was two hours
and forty five minutes. That's about eighteen minutes less than
past opening days in about eighteen twenty one minutes less
than the average games in twenty twenty two. And that
even included That even included the Blue Jays Cardinals marathon

(04:22):
as it were, that lasted three hours and thirty minutes.
But the Tigers and the Tampa Bay Rays played a
game that only lasted two hours and fourteen minutes. As
for stolen bases, there were twenty three attempted. Stolen bases
or stolen base attempts try to get in English, twenty
one were successful. That comes out to about one point
six per game. Last year, teams only averaged on per

(04:45):
game point six seven stolen bases per game. So you're
going to see a more aggressive brand to baseball thanks
to the bigger bases, thanks for the limited number of
disengagement that pitchers are allowed in terms of moving to
first base, pickoff moves, etc. But we weren't without you know,
highlights as it were, or low lights. There were violations.

(05:08):
It wasn't perfect. The most notable and maybe not the
weirdest one we'll get to that in a minute. But
the most notable belonged to Red Sox third baseman Raphael
Devers because he was called on his strikes in the
eighth inning without even seeing an official third strike. See now,
the rules stipulate that batters must quote engage the picture,
not get engaged like that Dodger fan did in center

(05:30):
field before the forum tackle by the security guard who
I believe he's been offered a contract by the Detroit Lines.
But I digress. The batter must engage the picture, meaning,
in other words, look at them, be ready to hit
before the eighth second, Mark Devers was not ready to hit,
so we ended up losing a chance for one more swing.
The Red Sox, who losed bar one run to Baltimore,

(05:52):
would end up placing three other runs at inning, and
who knows how things play out of Devers had simply
followed the new rules that one's gonna leave them. Mark
the Mets. I love Jason Smith's Mets. They're gonna be
for real this year. But they didn't maybe commit the
oddest violation and involved Pete Alonzo and Jeff McNeill as

(06:12):
well as you got to throw in there. The home
played unplayer, a guy by the name of Larry van
Over long story longer, Van over charged McNeal with a
strike after a Lonzo took too long to return to
first base following a fallball in the sixth inning in
a game against the Marlins. What that put McNeil in
an O two hole against Sandy ll Kantara. He just
saw one pitch. Nevertheless, he was able to work at

(06:34):
one two count before hitting a single that scored a run.
So hey, it wasn't perfect, but it was fun. We
will get into with some of the you know great storylines.
We were going to be looking forward to very much
in twenty twenty two, twenty twenty three. Excuse me again.
The real changes. I think they're fascinating, and I'm gonna

(06:54):
keep an eye on guys like Cody Bellinger or Joey Gallo.
They were the ones that seemed to suffer most from
those offensive shifts. Maybe their offense will return. The restrictions
on defensive positioning should help them. You really got to
keep an eye on show. Hey Otani's future. This is
going to be the greatest free agent finans in history.
Altani is, They're gonna have to find a higher league

(07:15):
for him. Everything is advertised, strikes out ten, gives up
five or six hits, loses, that's never happened on opening day.
Here you come, Angels. Might be a long year, Aaron
Judge the encore. Which teams do we expect to make
the playoffs, that you don't expect to make the playoffs?
Which teams might go the other way? Obviously all of
these things have to play out. But anyway you slice it,

(07:38):
a fantabulous opening day. It really was cool, a lot
of fun. America does love baseball. Either's our national pastime.
It did feel a little different Thursday to a lot
of folks. It was great. I think better and now
you know we can overreact game one and project what
might happen over one hundred and sixty two games. Again,

(08:00):
years opening day games they average three hours and eleven minutes,
and Thursday's games we're twenty one minutes less. You hear
a guy named Adlee Rushman, he begins his MVP campaign.
I see that tongue in cheek. Goes five for five
in Baltimore's ten nine win over Boston night would have
Boston missed an extra point one game. But it feels

(08:21):
like a bit of a tone setter. These Baltimore Orioles.
They got speisty last season and now could they perhaps
threatened for a playoff spot. Baltimore hasn't won a hundred
games in forty two years, and they did when ninety
six eight nine years ago. But this is what you
enjoy in baseball. The new upsurgeent teams that didn't do
so well the year before, but they show promise. Hope,

(08:43):
springs internal. It is spring training. Nobody has been mathematically
eliminated yet. Yes, baseball is here and we're all here
for it. Coming up. Larry Sorenson, ten year Major league pitcher,
thirty years in the broadcast booth pitch in the nineteen
seventy at All Star Game. He's got a few things
to say about the rules from a pictures standpoint. This

(09:05):
isn't gonna be so easy. I really believe there's ways
to game the system. If you are a base runner,
get a one way lead, remember the Picchu, You're gonna
only move over to first base twice. He can't do
it a third time. So the question becomes, if you
got a lead, and oh, by the way, that left
foot goes up as a picture begins his wind up,

(09:25):
you take off for second base, where the right football
goes up. You got to dive back. It feels like
you have a tremendous advantage over the picture. We shall
find out. We'll get Larry's perspective on all of the
new rule changes, among other things. I'm Bernie Frati will
come to you live from Las Vegas. Fox Sports Radio Studios,
Tireract dot Com Studios. Keep it locked. You're listening to

(09:46):
the Bernie Fratti Show on Fox Sports Radio. They're back
on the Bernie Fratto Show, Fox Sports Radio come to
you live from et tireract dot Com studios here in
Las Vegas, take up to two am Pacific, five am Eastern.
By the way, Big Winkin and I to Adam Wainwright
who sang the national anthem, did a fine job and

(10:07):
one of their quick PostScript on Caitlyn Clark, I mentioned
to I meant to highlight this in the open. Caitlyn
Clark since the beginning of the Big Ten Tournament has
scored two hundred and thirty five points in the postseason.
That includes the March Madness Tournament and the Big Ten Tournament.
What's the significance. The Iowa football team only scored two
hundred and thirty points the entire season, so there is that.

(10:31):
There was one incident that took place opening day in
Oakland involving the Angels Anthony Randon, and a twelve second
video has gone viral and it is not a good look.
And because of what happened, I'm going to lay it
out and what I think is going to happen next,
what I think should happen next. It actually invokes some
comparisons to the Malice at the Palace, which is of

(10:53):
course over the years that was November nineteenth, two thousand
and four. I was right in the middle of it.
I know too much about it, and that was you know,
that whole event has sort of become the poster child
benchmark for all fan melee's. And actually I got to
go and Doug got leave show today to talk about
that and just to set it up before I get

(11:14):
to Antony Rendo. And you all recall the Pistons were
playing the Indiana Pacers. It was a Friday night game
with forty five seconds to go. Pistons led nineteen seventy
eighty two. Ben Wallace is going in for a me
you know, a meaningless layup, and ron our Test follows
him from behind very aggressively, very you know, flagrantly. Wallace

(11:37):
like it. He shoves our test very hard hard test,
you know, sort of mimics, you know, flying around like
a whirling dervish and goes over and lays on the
scores table. The next thing, you know, an empty beer
cup come flying out of the stands. Lands are on
our test all held broke loose a guy, but then
name of John Green became a hussehole name. He's the
one that threw the cup our test and actually a

(11:58):
couple of other people went into the stands, went after
the wrong guy and melee. It was a melee of
the highest order. Fortunately nobody was hurt. Really nobody got hurt.
You know, you've seen the punches and the players and
you know the general mayhem. But fortunately, somehow there weren't
any major injuries. Jermaine O'Neill would have killed that guy

(12:20):
if his plant foothead and slid on a beer. But
the bottom line is this. The net result was at
the Indiana Pacers thanks to extremely bad judgment by their players,
including our test who he very much owned up for it.
It really sort of set that franchise back fifteen years
and didn't they. I don't think they've ever truly recovered

(12:41):
thanks to bad judgment. Well, let's fly fast forward to
Anthony Rendon, who exercised very bad judgment Thursday night. Obviously
upset the Angels got beat by the Oakland A's two
to one. Rendon was over three on the night. Something
happened with respect to a fan hooting on him. And

(13:05):
you know, according to Rendon's version, if you look at
the video, he said, you called me the B word,
you mfr and the fan denied it. Rendon reached up
into the seats. The easy teacher just perched above the
walk away it connects the visitor's dug out to the clubhouse.
His left hand holds the fan by the front of

(13:26):
his shirt, and Rendon's screaming at him. What did you say?
You call me a B word? Huh it wasn't me.
The fan said, yeah, you did well. At some point
Rendon released his grip, but at the same motion swung
an open palm with the fan's head and maybe maybe
grazed the brim of the athletics cap that the fan

(13:47):
was wearing, of course, and then Rendon barx ed him
and says, get the f out of here. Fortunately, Rendon
slapped mist its, intending to target. I guess we shouldn't
be too surprised. He was all for three in the game.
It just wasn't seeing the ball well. But I digress.
This is a situation that is completely intolerable. We know

(14:11):
all the time fans take liberties, and this is where
a lot of NBA players maybe deserve a lot of
respect because you don't know and you don't see the
things they hear. If you're watching games on TV and
they just sort of have to pretend they don't hear
it comes with the territory, but they do hear it.
And a lot of players, particularly baseball players, have rabbit ears.

(14:34):
A lot of NBA players have rabbit ears, and oftentimes
there will be a verbal exchange, it happens, it disappears
into the ether. No one really hears about it, and
everybody goes on about their business. But when it rises
to the level and I am in no way implying
that what happened with Anthony Rendon rose to the level

(14:56):
of anything near potentially of the mouse at the Palace
back in November two thousand and four, does it not
raise an eyebrow that how can something get to this
point between a player and a fan on opening night
and there's still one hundred and sixty one games to go.
So Anthony Rendon is now under investigation by the Commissioner's office.

(15:21):
He will absolutely, in my view, get a suspension. He
will deserve the suspension. I believe it'll be twenty games.
That's the way I see it. If it had been
a closed fist or it would have connected, might have
been a lot more, but I would say it be
twenty games. The commissioner has to send a message here
you cannot tolerate this kind of behavior. You cannot enable

(15:43):
this kind of behavior. It's my understanding. I've been able
to confirm it. He might Rendon might even be under
investigation by the Oakland Police Department. And the reason I
haven't really been able to confirm that, and I don't
really know, is it's my understanding that no one has,
you know, claim to be a victim as it where
no victim has come forward. And look, the fan is

(16:07):
his shorts aren't clean either, just gives you buy a
ticket and you go to the game. Doesn't mean you
can call players names. Doesn't mean you can use you know,
curse words, things of that nature. I would expect if
a growing man in a highly charged environment calls another
growing man an untoward name, you should expect probably some

(16:28):
sort of retribution, all right, But that doesn't mean Rendon
can put his hands on him. That doesn't mean Rendon
can grab him, you know, his shirt by the neck
and take a swipe at him. And as I said
just a minute ago, you know, verbal abuse is part
of the professional athlete's job. This happens on the road.
Try going to New York. Listen to the bleacher creatures.

(16:50):
They're amazing. They're pretty funny actually, by the way. So
I'm of the opinion that Rendon will get a twenty
game suspension. We shall see, I think relative soon. And
I think this should should actually serve as an example
to other players who might find themselves in the same situation,
because regardless of how unpleasant you may feel, there is

(17:13):
no excuse for Rendon's behavior. Rendon's just simply cross the line.
That's so obvious. You cannot approach Kevin You, I know
you're a big baseball guy. Were you aware of this
incident in Oakland of Thursday night? Not until all Friday afternoon?
To be honest with you, knows I did. I do
know the story. I've seen it, though it didn't really

(17:34):
start to get a lot of traction until this afternoon
because it went viral on Twitter. But just in general terms,
what are your thoughts on this as a fan and
just from the standpoint of analyzing this, and I believe
he's going to get a twenty game suspension, tell me
what you tell me, what your impression is of this
and what you think will happen. Yeah, Well, look, I

(17:55):
don't know fans, and this has been something that's happened
really in the NBA over the last couple of year,
were having fan incidents with players. You haven't seen it
a whole lot in Major League Baseball, but look, you know,
fans are gonna be crazy at times and say some
things that maybe they should, and as a player, you
have to have a little bit more composure there on
the field. Sometimes he even gets borderline personal, and if
that gets to be the case, then you get a

(18:16):
guy ejected, You tell an official, you know, get him
out of the game. But you get to a point
where you actually grab somebody by the shirt and take
a swing at him. Yeah, that's unacceptable. So I would
expect the Major League Baseball to lay the hammer down
on Anthony Rendone, not only a fine, but probably a
multiple game suspension too. I believe all of those things
will happen. I believe all those things deserve to happen.

(18:38):
If you were to put a number of games on
the suspension, what do you what comes to mind in
your views? I'd probably say ten. It could be ten.
I feel that's a little light. I think you've got
to send a message because he because he put his
hands on him. If he'd have been barking on him,
that have been one thing. But let's just see it's
it's a bit of an imponderable. By the way, Let's

(19:00):
we forget Anthony Brandon served a five game suspension last
year for his you know, he had a fairly small
part and a bench clearing prawl against the Mariners in June,
and he got a five game suspension. So I don't
know if that's going to affect the commissioner's decision, but
I don't think it's going to help matters. Ethan. What
are your thoughts on the matter. Honestly, I think it's

(19:23):
a type of situation where, you know, I think he
should get a suspension. It's a type of situation where
you don't come in interference with fans. It's just a
no go. I'd give him ten games. I don't know
why he did that. It just doesn't make any sense.

(19:43):
Just lost his cool, no two ways about it. He
lost his cool and it was it was spontaneous combustion.
And you know, as far as his his his behavior
toward the fan, I think what brought it, what brought
it to a head head and invoke perhaps comparisons to

(20:04):
the mouse at the Palace, was that it got physical.
I mean, you know, guys, we you know, we've we've
seen the incidents in the NBA multiple times. I can't
think of a single time in the past, in the
recent times or an NBA players put his hands on
a on a fan. Can you remember, Kevin, I can't, No,

(20:24):
not since the Malice of the Palace. And again there
have been incidents. I mean, Russell Westbrooks's pointing guys out
to be ejected. Kyrie Irving last week pointed a guy
out to be ejected. So those are the kind of
measures and the league and the officials will back you
up on that if they think that it's a legitimate claim.
So you have that sort of protection to where you
don't need to actually take matches and tell your own
hands quite literally like Anthony Rendone did. And to Russell

(20:46):
Westbrooks and Kyrie Irving's credit, neither one of them put
their hands on any fans. Ethan, can you remember a
situation in the NBA or any other sport where it
escalated beyond the verbal aspect of it. I was thinking
really hard for the last minute. I can't remember anything
that was really out of hand. I mean, players have fought,

(21:09):
but nothing really. Yeah, and it would have been pretty
big news had it happened. Right, Yeah, it's been close.
It's been close, but it had but it's been a
situation where cooler heads ultimately prevailed. So there you have it.
Anthony Rendon, I believe we will get some disposition on

(21:32):
this sooner rather than later. The Angels had an off
day to day, and you know, look, Anthony Rendon's a
tenure veteran. He simply got a no better And I
completely dismissed summarily with Scott Boris at his agent that
you know, stadiums have to improve their security. Okay, really,

(21:52):
how about your how about your your client improves his
his demeanor? You know, I mean Boris one, honestly to
Oakland's the only stadium and baseball where actually fans have
some access to players after the games, just by you know,
by the older design. Still there is no excuse for
what happened. Coming up again later in the show, we're
gonna get into more in depth breakdown between the two

(22:16):
final four games. We've got the contest trivia contest coming
up midnight. We're gonna resume that we're gonna get heavily
into Lamar Jackson situation, theater and the show. But coming
up next. It's been a very odd, idiosyncratic March Madness tournament.
I've frankly loved it. I'll share with you some fun
facts you may not have known. But first let's go

(22:37):
to our guy, Kevin figures with the latest. All right,
Bernie will go to the NBA where the Suns improved
to five. I know with Kevin Durant in their lineup,
they picked up a one hundred to ninety three victory
over these shorthanded Denver Nuggets. They were without Nicola Yokich,
Michael Porter Junior, and Jamal Murray. Consabia's Pa Callwell Pope
also did not play. Kevin Durant did score thirty points
to lead Phoenix in scoring, Steph Curry thirty three, leading

(22:58):
Golden State over the Spurs one thirty to one fifteen.
They maintained the sixth spot in the Western Conference. They
have the same record as the Clippers, who lost in
Memphis one oh eight to ninety four. Lakers moving in
to seventh place in the West with they won twenty
three to one to eleven victory over Minnesota you had
victories for Sacramento, Philadelphia and the Celtics. They got thirty
nine points from Jason Tatum as they defeated the Utah Jazz.

(23:20):
Major League Baseball, Kyle Lewis a two run home run
in the eighth inning, lifting Arizona over the Dodgers two
to one. Five rbi for leadolf man Stephen Quan as
the Guardians beat the Mariners. In Seattle, it was the
Rockies four and Padres one Kyle Tucker or home run
for Houston lade if you did the White Sox six
to three, and woman SUPs. Caitlin Clark scored forty one points,
leading Iowa over South Carolina in the final four. Hawk

(23:42):
Eyes will face LSU for the National championship on Sunday.
Back to Bernie Fredo. All right, thanks Kevin so much
on the docket, and I look at the matchup Saturday
and I realize, you know, you can get a ticket
nine for forty bucks in Houston, because you've got FAU
in San Diego State and then of course Miami and

(24:04):
in Yukon. So there isn't quite the panache in terms
of blue bloods, in terms of Marquis value. But I
think every team is there that is there, it deserves
to be there, and you know a lot of times
we are in a world run by numbers. There's a gentleman,
a mathematician named Austin Mok who surmised that the final

(24:27):
four of Yukon, Miami, San Diego State in Florida Atlantic,
they had a collective chance of this happening one in
one hundred and twenty five thousand for all four them
to make this far. That's point zero zero zero nine
percent chance. None of these four teams are either none
of them are one, two or three seeds. By the way, yeah,
the impossible, the improbable, Vince Kelly has happened. It's been

(24:48):
that kind of tournament. Remember, three of these teams barely
survived the first round, and frankly, last Saturday's games were
no different. Miami. It took a huge comeback win over
Texas for Miami to prevail. In San Diego State had
an absolute nailbiter against Creighton. They were both won possession
games with a minute left, complete insanity. As we stand

(25:09):
right now, the Yukon Huskies, they are the betting favorites
to win it all again. Later in the Showmen have
a full end up analysis of each team and the
matchups as it were. But the Huskies, they are the
betting favorites minus one thirty five to win the whole thing,
their minus two sixty on the money line to win
Saturday to beat Miami. They're five and a half point favorites.

(25:30):
And what does all that mean. It means that if
you believe you knoll win it all and you want
to win one hundred dollars, you've bet one hundred and
thirty five dollars. But that seems to feel immaterial considering
the last month, because all of a sudden, Ucon looks
incredibly scary. Of the final four teams, Yukon looks like
that team. Well, if we bring our best and you
bring our best, you bring your best, our best is

(25:51):
simply going to be better. They completely took apart Gonzaga
like a cheap suit last week. Their average margin of
the victory and the tournaments so far as twenty two points.
The closest win was fifteen over St. Mary's. And remember,
you know, and this is why this tournament is so exciting,
and it's so intense and survived in advance. There are

(26:15):
no guarantees I don't care if you've got the best robster.
I don't care if you got the best players. I
don't care if you got the best team. Remember, everybody
thought Alabama had the clearest path to the Final four,
but they ran into a San Diego State team that
defends incredibly well, that has great length, great athleticism. They're
not intimidated. They have a very innovative assistant coach by

(26:38):
the name of David Velasquez, who keyed on three things
to stop Alabama. Make sure they couldn't shoot threes. They
were three for twenty seven, can test every three, turn
them over Alabama, turn them over fourteen times, and hang
with him on the boards. San Diego State did all
three of those things. They're ready to get on the floor,
get in the ring. Either Florida Lane or San Diego

(27:01):
State will be in the finals. You heard that right,
Florida Atlantic. They won the most games of any Division
One team this year, and they deserve to be with
their at They won thirty five games, and I gotta
tell you, and I'm gonna get to this later, but
here's the tease. I actually lean Florida Atlantic that game.
One of the things that bothers me about San Diego
State is they do go through long scoring stretches where

(27:23):
they are scoring droughts where they just don't score the ball.
And that's inevitable. It's gonna happen. It's gonna happen Saturday.
And I you know, Florida's Florida Atlantic's got a lot
of ball handlers. They've got a lot of depth, they've
got a lot of skill. They have a wonderful physical
attitude and confidence about them. So we are looking at

(27:43):
a final four that's it's unlike any other we've ever had.
It's very unique. Give it up to Jim Larenega Sunday,
March twenty sixth he gets to Miami Hurricanes into the
final four seventeen years to the day, March twenty six,
two thousand and six. That is George Mason coach team
also advanced tenth the final four. So most of us

(28:04):
filled out brackets. Most of us look like a train
wreck at this point. But incredibly, there are actually, there
are actually existing thirty seven brackets and this has all
been electronically verified in national contests. There are thirty seven
brackets alive that believe it or not, correctly selected Floria Atlantic,

(28:27):
San Diego State, Ukon of Miami's their final four. How
you did it, I don't know, don't know that I
want to know. Conversely, out of the millions and millions
and millions and millions of brackets that have been electronically
verified in national contests, there were over two hundred and
seventy one thousand brackets which had all four of those

(28:47):
same schools, San Diego State, Florida Atlantic, Ukon of Miami
losing in the first round. If you have thirty seven
brackets in the final four correctly predicted two hundred and
seventy one thousand brackets which had all four of those
schools losing in the first round. Now me, I have
a perfect bracket. Well, you see, it's not my fault

(29:09):
that teams didn't cooperate with me. My bracket was perfect,
just that the teams didn't come through for me. So
I don't have a single team in the final four.
But we are enjoying this immensely, and I will enjoy
Saturday's games immensely. And there's just I think a lot
of fun minutias surrounding this year's tournament, which makes it
unique for the first time since the seeding air and
then of course that goes back to nineteen seventy nine.

(29:30):
We don't have a single number one seed in the
Elite eight. And additionally, this will just be the fourth
final four with no number one seed in the final
four and some of the good, great teams you remember
in the past that won it in two eleven, that

(29:51):
crazy defensive game between Yukon and Butler. Yukon who won
it all in twenty eleven, they were a three seed
prior to the tournament starting. You could go, I'm at
twenty five to one, that great two thousand and sixteen
Florida that ended up repeating. They were twenty to one
pre tournament, they were only a three seed. You got
a way back into the cookie jar. In nineteen eighty

(30:13):
Louisville who beat UCLA and Larry Brown. Wait a minute now,
am I having a brain cramped? You silly went at nineteen.
All I know is Denny Crumb and Louisville was the
number two seed. They were eight eight to one in
the pre tournament, and uh, you know you got Yukon
in Florida. They owned. You talk about long odds, but

(30:35):
you really talking about long odds. How about Florida Atlantic.
You could have got them at five hundred to one
at the beginning of the tournament, and that quickly dropped
to three hundred to one. So Connecticut at the enter
of the Final four, they're the betting favorite. You know, historically,
you got two favorites tomorrow. San Diego State is a
two and a half point favorite against FAU and Ukon's

(30:57):
a five and a half point favorite against against Miami. Historically, well,
let's put it this way, eighteen of the last nineteen
final fours a favorite one at meaning whoever a favorite
was in the semifinal game went on to win it.
That would mean if that chot, if that prediction holds,

(31:20):
if that trend holes, either San Diego State or Yukon
will be your national champion. I think if Yukon gets
past Miami, I think they probably will be the national champion.
I get into later. I quote some college football experts
who don't really believe anybody, anybody can beat Yukon, but
we shall see. I'll give you more of a thrill
breakdown again, a very unlikely final four. Yukon was, you know,

(31:44):
entering the tournament sixteen to one entering the tournament at
Miami was fifty to one San Diego State, eighty to one,
Florida Atlantic three hundred to one. If you add up
the final four teams national title allows entering the dance,
they would add up to plus thirty four and six hundreds.
I mean one hundred dollars bring you back thirty four thousand,
which is the third highest total in the seating era.

(32:06):
And as I mentioned before twenty eleven, that's when you
had a couple of eighty to one teams. It made
the final four. Remember that Kemba Walker team. They had
to win the Big East Tournament and then advance, and
in course they made it all the way and finished
the deal. But it's been an absolute roller coaster. It's
been an absolute roller coaster, simply betting the totals, because

(32:26):
the totals at the beginning of the tournament started out
massive unners and they started to go over and one
of the thing first half unders have been have been
pretty solid. As a matter of fact, I'm actually on
the first half under of sixty and a half San
Diego State and FAU given the big arena, the shooting
angles and the ball that they're not really used to.
Yet I feel like that's a pretty safe bet, but

(32:49):
I'm still not really sure. One last things, there was
a new betting craze and this has actually been out
a couple of years now, introduced and you can only
do it during the March Madness tournament. You get two
teams on the floor and you can bet the first
team to ten points. And what is really the reason

(33:10):
that people enjoyed so much? He says, it's excitement right
out of the gate, and it pays right away. You're
gonna get paid within probably the first five to six
minutes of the game. And in the first round when
you got a pesky, plucky fourteen seed, it's the number
three seed, they might come out of the gate with
their pants on fire. And if they're the first one
to ten points, that might pay five to one ons.

(33:30):
And you should see what the sports pok looks like.
When the team gets to seven points and they're a
big underdog like that, people are on the edge of
their seat because one more three point shot and you
cash your bat. So plenty of basketball left. Should be
some good high drama games Saturday. I believe, I don't.
I don't think they're going to be any blots. I

(33:52):
don't a matter of fact coming up. Let's bring in.
Let's bring in Ethan and Kevin and see what their
thoughts are and their predictions are for Saturday's double header
FAU in San Diego State. They tip it off just
after three pm Pacific, and then about two and a
half three hours later you'll have Miami and UK. We'll
dive into that quickly. I'm Bernie fritawhere Company live from

(34:14):
the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Tirac dot Com Studios.
Don't go away, you're listening to the Bernie Fratder Show
on Fox Sports Radio. Back at the Bernie Fratder Show
Company Live for the Fox Sports Radio Studios Tirac dot
Com Studios here in Las Vegas. Hey light them up, folks,
Calley and Ethan's gonna take your calls the first fives.
Just like the last few weeks, Bernie's Trivia game resumes

(34:35):
at midnight. The first five to get in you'll be
locked in for our contest as it resumes on at
midnight here in about ten minutes, so the phone lines
are open. Feel free to dive right in and we'll
be ready to roll at midnight all right, so let's
start with the first game. Kevin Florida Atlantic, San Diego State,

(34:57):
Florida lank when thirty five games this year, twenty four
and eleven against the number San Diego State. He's covered
six games in a row. Their defense is held opposing
teams to forty two percent from the field. That's number
one of the tournament. That's been their calling card defense.
San Diego State is leading two and a half. Do
you have an opinion on this game, Kevin, Yeah, I

(35:23):
think that styles make fights, you know, when it comes
to this sort of situation. So usually when it's a
high flying offensive unit versus a defensive team, from a
pay standpoint, I feel like he usually favors the team
on defense. Now, I guess the question for San Diego
State what they have enough offense to be able to
keep up with Florida Atlantic. So while I do like
what San Diego State can do defensively, and I think

(35:43):
it might be a low scoring game, I just don't
know if they have enough offense to be able to
keep up with FAU that can get hot from three.
So I like Fau. I kind of I am with you.
I'm kind of with you. My concern is San Diego State.
If they get into one of their scoring drafts again,
that's gonna be a problem. Florida Atlantic is averaging seventy

(36:04):
eight points a game, They're only allowing sixty five per game.
And uh, they can play little defense too, So they
got a few ballers. I kind of and we'll get
into this later, but I'm leading Florida Atlantic as well.
Let's flip two the other game. And so you've got
Miami in Jim Laranaga, and I think Miami's got the

(36:26):
best backcourt in the country. My favorite bet the year
so far was them taking the points against Houston last week.
This game is gonna be a fist fight in phone booth.
I think both teams are going to get after it. Miami,
did you know beat Texas eighty at eighty one? They
had to come come back. But Miami fifth in the

(36:46):
nation and adjusted points per game. They can score. And
you know that people are talking about betting the under
a one forty nine and a half that I'd be
very leary that, but beat that as it may. Yukon
looks looks pretty formidable. Do you have any thoughts on
that game? Yeah, I think Yukon looks, you know, I

(37:07):
want to I don't want to say anybody's unbeatable, but
I mean they can dominate you in so many different ways.
They can attack you inside and out, they can play
great defense, they can score offensively, they can light you
up from three. They just seem like like a team
of destiny, you know. For lack of a better tournament
at this point, as great as Miami has been, as
weird of a comeback as it was last week in
the Elite eight, I think it's gonna be tough sledding

(37:30):
for them to be able to beat Yukon. I think
they can hang with them, for sure, but I think
ultimately Yukon ends up, you know, pulling away winning this
thing by eight to ten. So here's a little teaser
for what I'm going to be talking about about half
an hour from now. There was there were a consortium
of anonymous coaches that got together in a round table

(37:50):
and they broke down the four teams, and believe it
or not, the consensus was none of them thought Yukon
could be beaten in this tournament. So coaches who do
this for a living, who's been on the floor with him,
the Huskies are the only program with at least at
least you know, a Final four appearance among the ones
left standing in this tournament. You saw that Yukon absolutely

(38:11):
showed no mercy for Gonzaga in the late eight round.
They just completely bludge and du Timmy. They beat him
by twenty eight. That was a tremendous statement game Yukon,
especially their defense. They have the number one you know,
they shut down the number one offense in the nation,
and they made it look easy. And the Huskies ranked
you know, top eleven and just about every category. And
here's what's interesting. Their second halfs have been amazing. Yukon

(38:34):
and the tournament has outscored their opponent one seventy four
to one oh seven to the second half. That's a
plus sixty seven point margin. That's pretty impressive. All right,
Line them up, get the line, phone lines lit up.
Coming up. Top of the hour, Bernie's Trivia Game continues,
and we will see what you got and uh and
you know, here we go, Bernie's Bernie's bunkin beats, keep

(38:57):
it locked. You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show on
sports radio. You heard the man, the Bernie fradickshow keeps
rolling right along. My name is Bernie Fratta. Were coming
you live from the tirect dot com studios here in
Las Vegas, Nevada, Tirac dot Carmel help you get there
and the match selection fast for your shipping, for your
road hazard protection and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirect

(39:19):
dot com the way tire buying should be with thanks
to the hard work and creativity of Ethan Miller, he
created Bernie's Backyard Bunking Bets. We now enter week four
of the contests and we are off and running. Full
lines are light up, my maestro, take it away. We
got questions, we got crisis, will come out on top.

(39:42):
We're calling on you. Let's see what you got. It's
game time, it's showtime. It's Bernie's Backyard bucks and beats.
All right, welcome to another Bernie's Backyard Bunking Bets. This
is week four. We got let me just read out
the leaderboard real quick after three weeks, so right now

(40:05):
we got three returning callers on the line and two
new callers the standings. We got Ryan from Utah with
three hundred points and behind him and got Steven Poppy
with two hundred points, Mitchell from Ohio with one hundred points,
j from Cape Cod with one hundred points. Those two
are on the line. On hold, Bernie, ready to go.
I'm ready to go. Hey, No, Poppy from charm Yeah,

(40:28):
that might not, that might not. Bold will for the
ass takes tidy, but we shall see you. So who's
up first? All right? So we're gonna go to Ryan
from Utah. Ryan has called in twice. We're happy to
have him back. Ryan, Ryan, you're back again. You're ready
to go. I'm ready to go. Showtime, okay, buddy. All right, Ryan,

(40:49):
So I'm gonna give you your trivia question and we're
gonna go to the NFL. Questions gonna be which NFL
team scored the very first points in Super Bowl history? Well,
Green Bay Packers, Yep, yep, absolutely correct. Super Bowl won.

(41:12):
The Packers beat the Chiefs thirty five to ten. The
game was played in the Kyle Seem in Los Angeles.
There were about fifty thousand empty seats. Don't by the way,
it wasn't even called the Super Bowl then, it was
called the AFL NFL Championship Game. Ryan, Very impressive. Good
for you job, Ryan. Yeah, that's good, all right? Was
that a guess? Was that a guest? Or do you

(41:34):
know that? You could be? Oh? I knew that, but no,
I knew that. It just was I didn't know who
scored the first. I mean, I knew it was the
Packers and the Chiefs, right, so it was fifty to
fifty weather who who scored first? Good? There you go,
good stuff? All right, here we go. We're gonna go
to our bet. We can earn a total of two
hundred points here. If you get the bet correct, We're
gonna go March Madness. College basketball tomorrow. Number nine FAU

(41:56):
takes on number five San Diego State in Final four
at three Pacific, sixth Eastern. San Diego State is currently
minus two and a half. Will you be taking San
Diego State or Florida Atlantic plus two and a half.
It was the toughest one you could give me. You
had me, you got last week. But they broke They
broke my Creton heart last week in San Diego State.
So I hate mending with the heart. I'm an alma

(42:18):
mater from San Diego State, so I gotta go San
Diego State. You know I'm secretly rooting for them. I
have a special soft spot in my heart for Brian Dutcher.
Of course, he goes back to the Michigan days when
he was on the bench with ste Fisher for the
Fat Five. He's a great guy. See him once twice
a year coming through Las Vegas. It's been a phenomenal

(42:39):
store for San Diego State. But I'm gonna I'm gonna
have to grab fau in the two and a half points.
I'm concerned about the scoring droughts that San Diego State
has had and they were ye I'm not saying they
were fortunate to escape Craton because they earned it, but
I am of the belief that it may come to
an end for San Diego here. So I gotta go
on the other side. Ryan, But good luck, all right,

(43:02):
you too, Thank you so much. Love the show, guys.
Thank thank you, Ry, appreciate you, buddy, Thank you, sir,
Thanks for all right, thanks for calling it. All right,
We're gonna go to Jimmy from Florida. Jimmy, welcome to
the show. First time caller on the show. Yeah, sure,
thank you. What part of Florida, Jimmy, what part of
Florida from well, not from here, but um I'm living

(43:22):
in Alpha Alpha, Florida. I'm for me originally though. All right, buddy,
welcome to the show. All right, go ahead, all right,
I got a trivia question for you. You're gonna get
seven seconds to answer it. Okay, all right, here we go.
Who is the only coach in history to win an
nc double, a men's basketball title and an NBA title? Oh?

(43:45):
Lords like, I don't even know that. I don't want
to excuse my language. Old on, Well, Ethan, that's a
that's a lamp for me because I covered the old
four Pistons of course, who we're coached by the great
Larry Brown beat the Lakers in five games. I covered
that series. And and let's not forget in nineteen eighty

(44:09):
eight his Kansas Jayhawks shocked the world and ran Billy
Tubbs Oklahoma sooners off the floor. Is Larry Brown? All right?
Look at you, Bernie good one. All right, So we're
gonna go on to the trivia to the bet here, Jimmy,
I'm gonna give you a college basketball betford tomorrow. It's
gonna be Yukon number four versus number five Miami in

(44:30):
the Final four at sixth Pacific nine East here and
Yukon is currently minus five. I know that lines between
five and five and a half, but I see it
at five right now. So we'll be taking Will you
be taking Ukon minus five or Miami plus five with
the points? Miami? Absolutely? All right, Miami and Bernie. I
think Miami's run has been incredibly impressive, Jim Larenega metrically, defensively,

(44:55):
it's a big mismatch in terms of where Yukon ranks
defensively for Miami, your ranks defensively. I think you're gonna
see a fist fight, and I think you're gonna see
Yukon hang that number late and cover the five. So
I gotta go against you, Jimmy, but good luck. If
you win, I'll be happy for you. Thank you, sir,
Thanks for calling in. Jimmy. We'll see you next week.

(45:17):
All right, We're gonna go to Jay from Cape Cod
j Great to have you back on the show. Thanks see,
nice to speak to you again. Yep. All right, So
our question for you is going to be who is
the youngest ever heavyweight boxing champion? Like the youngest to
ever do it? I would say Mike Hypher Damn wow.

(45:41):
Absolutely one. Guys are guys are getting sharper. Yeah, it was.
He wasn't even twenty one years old when he when
he became the heavyweight champion. Because Mike lives here in
Las Vegas to see him every now and then, and uh,
it was. It was phenomenal. Great job, great job. All right,
we're gonna go on to the bet. We're gonna go
to the NBA tomorrow, the Dallas Mavericks to travel to

(46:03):
Miami to take on the Miami Heat at a five
Pacific eight pm Eastern game. The Mavericks are currently plus one.
We'll be taking the Heat minus one or the Mavericks
plus one. I'll take the Mavericks plus one, all right, Bernie,
I'm gonna go with the Heat. The Mavericks, you're an
absolute hot mess. Kyrie's running his mouth even though he

(46:25):
is averaging twenty six points a game. Dallas plays no
defense and they didn't do it before Kyrie got there.
And Kyrie and Luca on the floor together, they look
like a drunk crossing an icy street. I'm gonna have
to go with the Miami Heat, all right. Awesome, Jay,
thanks for calling in. Best of luck, Okay, thank you
and enjoyed the show. Thanks, thanks for calling in. Good
luck buddy. All right, we're going to Mitchell from Ohio. Mitchell,

(46:49):
great to have you back on the show. What's up?
All right, here's our trivia question for you. How many
people are all in the field at once a lacrosse game? Twelve? Well, yeah, okay,

(47:11):
I'm gonna try to answer this question. Right, Okay, there's
ten players per team, a goalie, three defense fan, three midfields,
and three attackments. So there's gotta be there's gotta be
twenty bang, correct, Ernie, good stuff. I wouldn't have known
that either. It's fine, Mitchell, don't worry to have you back, Mitchell.

(47:32):
Keep keep keep it rolling. Man, What do we got now?
All right? Here we go, Here we go. We're going
stay in the NBA. We're gonna go. Los Angeles Clippers
travel to New Orleans tomorrow to take on the Pelicans
for six nine Eastern game. Pelicans are currently favored minus
two and a half and the Clippers are plus two
and a half. We'd be taking the Pelicans or the
Clippers plus two and a half. And just fyi, the

(47:54):
Clippers were minus five last weekend, same game, but in
Los Angeles. Go ahead, Yeah, they ain't been playing at
sentil boy hurt. I'm to know what the Pelicans, all right,
the Pelicans. I'm in agreement with Mitchell. The Pelicans are
fighting for their playoffs lives. I guess you can see
the Clippers are too. But the Pelicans, if you have

(48:15):
watched them sense of urgency, they're playing with the pants
on fire like it's raining gasoline. I will go with
the Pelicans and lay the wood. That's a short number.
All right, you're both on the same team here. Thanks
for colin in, Mitchell. We'll see you next week. Good luck, Mitchell.
All right, we're gonna go to our last caller, Mike
from Las Vegas. Mike, great to have you on. Yeah,
it's great to be on. All right, Mike, you're right

(48:37):
in our hometown here in Las Vegas. Are your Las
Vegas native or from elsewhere? Welprom elsewhere up from the
East Coast. I'm originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Beautiful. You know
we need to open up Permanni brothers here. We got
everything else right, all right, all right, let's go here
we go. I got a question for you, who is
the oldest rookie of the year in m ob history,

(49:01):
the oldest rookie of the year in MLB history. Oh boy,
that's uh Roberto Clementi, Nope, Bernie Uh okay, this is uh,
this is like one of those brutal questions, like you

(49:25):
really got to know it. I'm gonna go with Sam
jethro close. You got the first letter of the name, right,
it's Satchel Paige. Okay, I knew it was one of
those obscure ones. Really, it's sat he did yeah, forty
two years old? Yeah, okay, well, yeah, all right, thank you.

(49:47):
That that's a damn good question. That that is. That
is true trivia because either nobody you don't like last
week with you know how many pounds is the Lombardi Trophy?
Way right? That guy? Yeah, yeah, yeah, that was Yeah.
You're close though. I feel like you if you had
multiple choice in longer time, if I'd have seen if
i'd have seen five names lined up, I probably would

(50:08):
have probably would have picked it out. All right, let's
get to the bet. All right. The bet is, uh,
we're going to the NHL because there's only two NBA
games tomorrow and that's two college basketball So Los Angeles
Kings traveled to Seattle take on the Cracking for ten
eastern seven pm Pacific time game. It's a pick them.
Who will you be taking? The Seattle Cracker was an

(50:29):
expansion King last year, and the Air playing well this year.
I'll think the Cracking them all. Alright, you're exactly right,
the crack and have been outstanding. But the Kings you're
still fighting for the Pacific Division lead, which means they
wouldn't have to beat the Golden Knights and Edmonton. They
don't have to beat one or the other, and they're
still alive to do it. And the Golden Knights tied

(50:49):
last night. So I'm going to take a flyer on
the Kings. The line is telling you it's favoring the Kings,
will see Seattle on an easy place to play, but
I'll take a flyer on the La Kings. All right,
that's another Bernie's backyard bunk bets. Mike, thanks for calling
and callback next week. All right, Yes, thanks you guys.
It's been fun. I thank you. A great job to
all the callers, great job to you eat them usually again,

(51:12):
you've come up some really with some really challenging trivia questions.
He's aren't easy, you know, especially on the spot right. Yeah, no,
they're not. Kudos to Ryan and Jay for both getting
their questions right. And you went two for three tonight,
which is always good. All right, we'll take it so, Ethan.
You will have the standings out Monday morning, will retweet

(51:33):
those standings through week four, and after week four, we
obviously will will have a situation where we're a third
of the way through the context. It's going to run
twelve weeks, it'll run through Memorial Day weekends, so there's
still plenty of time for folks to get in. Still
plenty of time for folks to try to continue to

(51:53):
extend their lead or catch the leader, or you get
the picture. All it's going to take is someone to
get out a couple of weeks in a row. I
think there's I think, correct me if I'm wrong, Ethan,
But there's only been one contestant so far that garnered
two hundred points, meaning they won their bet and got
their trivia question right. Yeah, that correct. It was Ryan,
and I believe it was last week. He got it done.
He had one hundred points. Last weekend he got two hundred,

(52:15):
and he could get two hundred again this week. Yes,
this could get very interesting. But you know all's gonna
take us someone and do that a couple three weeks
in a row, whatever, and you're right near the top.
But people are behind him too. Stephen Poppy both have
two hundred. Mitchell and Jay both called in and they
have one hundred. So it's going to be close, all right.
There's a long way to go. Thanks to everybody who

(52:36):
took the time to call in. Remember next Friday night
we resume April seventh. You could start dialing in at
eleven forty five Pacific to forty five Eastern Ethan ol
Man the phone, So the first five get in. That
keeps it appicable. Some weeks you get in, some weeks
you don't. But over a three month period there should
be a pretty good evening out process. Coming up bottom

(52:57):
of the hour, I'm going to break down the matchups
more saccinctly in the final four and later in the show,
I'm going to get heavily into the Lamar Jackson Baltimore
Ravens thing. It took a bad turn this week, and
I've got a memo to Lamar and the Ravens, and
you're gonna have to hear what I gotta say. But
in the meantime, a particular team in the AFC East

(53:17):
has been rumored they may want to have Lamar Jackson
to themselves. Did they do it? I'll tell you what
I know. I'm Bernie Fratto or come to you live
from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios tirac dot com.
Keep it locked right here. You're listening to the Bernie
Fratto Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right back on

(53:41):
the Bernie Fratto Show, Fox Sports Radio. Come to you
live from the tireraca dot Com studios here in Las Vegas,
and setting aside Opening day for Major League Baseball, temporarily
setting aside March Madness. One of the big stories this
week happened Monday morning. Just as John Harba was sitting

(54:06):
down to address the media, Lamar Jackson announced that he
had requested a trade from the Ravens earlier in the month,
actually on March second. Remember March seventh is when the
Ravens placed the non exclusive franchise tag on Lamar Jackson.
Publicizing this trade request was a real significant step. I

(54:27):
believe in someone trying to break this stalemate between Jackson
and the Ravens. They've been stuck in the mud since
before the season even started. You already know the details.
They don't need to go over him again. Jackson wants
to fully guaranteed contract worth more than two thirty for
five years. Blah blah blah. This is a weird situation,
and I think it's just got a little weirder, and

(54:48):
I don't think it's gonna end anytime soon, now you know.
Lamar Jackson continued to decenter. He issued a series of
tweets detailing his wish to be traded, and the timing
was again also weird. The tweet started coming in exactly
twelve minutes before the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens,
John Harball, began his His press conference was which was

(55:12):
a scheduled press conference at the NFL owners meetings, right
and h Harball got ambushed by the meeting. He did
his best to handle it, and he got twenty six
questions in a row all about Lamar Jackson, and look,
Hardball gave non answered answers. He praised his quarterback, He

(55:34):
took the high road. He maintained that he very much
wants Lamar Jackson back with the Ravens next year. Of course,
white Woodney he wants him next year and beyond, and
he you know, says if he's under center, he'll give
us his best effort. Blah blah blah blah blah. All right,

(55:54):
so if Lamar Jackson wants out, that means there has
to be a trade. And guess which team was rumored
and it caught fire, The New England Patriots. But I
think you can kay bosh that fairly quickly. As a
matter of fact, I go so far to say I
would be very surprised, if not shocked, if Lamar Jackson

(56:17):
has New England as his zip code where he resides
this fall. I don't believe it. I don't believe it
will happen. Robert Kraft. I guess this whole thing, you know,
took root because during the annual meetings this past week,
early in the weekend, it was Monday, Robert Kraft said
Lamar Jackson might be interesting in joining the Patriots. Why
because he'd gotten a text from Meek Mill where he's

(56:41):
a rapper, Meek Mill, and he's actually a friend of
Robert Kraft, and he's also a friend of Lamar Jackson.
And would it be a great storyline to see Lamar Jackson,
you know, knocking heads with Josh Allen twice a year,
and that Buffalo defense, and then of course the Jets,
who should be very good in the Patriots or check

(57:03):
that the Dolphins, who I think are going to be
better than people realize. I don't think it's gonna happen, okay,
And Kraft said that, you know, Meet Mill texted him.
But I don't think Bill Belichick is down with this.
It's just not a matter of fact. A couple of
anonymous league sources have basically said, come on, it's not
going to happen, all right as it stands right now,

(57:25):
as you know, the Ravens, they've placed the thirty two
billion dollars franchise tag on Jackson, so I think they've
got leverage at least until July seventeenth. And you don't
see anybody else stepping up. And we've talked about this.
Nothing against Lamar Jackson. He's a transcendent talent. You've got
the same issues, right if you're going to give him
a fifty million dollars a year deal, do you really
want to burn up twenty five percent of your salary

(57:48):
cap and one guy and put the rest of your
team in salary cap hell and surround him with the
skeleton crew. Does that work? I don't think that works.
It doesn't help that Lamar Jackson has missed ten games
in the last two He's only had one start out
of potential twelve the last two januaries in February is combined.
And so could there be a trade? Well, here's the deal.

(58:11):
If the Patriots we're willing to say, trade three first
round draft picks, I think you might see the Ravens bite.
They'd have to swallow hard, they'd have to hold their nose.
This you're giving up a guy who's a potential Hall
of Famer, who's won forty five regular season games, but
again he's only one to three in the postseason. And
his style of play. I'm not implying that he got

(58:32):
hurt because of a style of play, but his pcl.
If you're hurt, you're hurt. It doesn't matter what the
reason is. You're either on the field or not. But
is at a price the Patriots should be willing to pay.
And you know, it's funny. It's not just that the Patriots,
along with everybody else, have witnessed what the Shawn Watson
got and is fully guaranteed five year, two thirty from
the Browns, which is an outlier, which is not the

(58:54):
New Market Center. It's a mistake. It's a desperation moved
by a desperate team. No one is going to do that.
But now you have also had a chance to observe
and maybe Watson was you know, rusty. He didn't exactly
look at like a world beat of the last six weeks,
did he. And I think there's all kind of pressure
of the world of the world. The pressure of the

(59:14):
world is on the Browns to live up to that contract.
And I don't see you know how that's how that's
going to happen. Okay, And I know the Patriots are
fairly well committed to mac Jones, but that's not the
reason they would be out on Jackson. The press is right.
I think they consider it. But the Patriots really need
to determine this year whether or they can get mac
Jones back on track with Bill O'Brien. I contend they will.

(59:36):
I don't know who the hell could play quarterback under
Matt Patricia. We could do a three hour show on
Matt Patricia. With all due respect, I don't get the
dude man that pencil in his ear. I don't come on,
you know where he can stick that thing. And so
the Patriots, I think they're gonna build out the rest
of the roster around the quarterback who's still on his
rookie deal. They can begin budgeting for his next contract.

(59:56):
Football's played in three phases. Belichick always has a way
to find out that. You know. Belichick's always gonna find
a way to be competitive, as it were at the
Goofy game against the Raiders, and until then they were
in the playoff, I believe it or not. So that's
my long winded way of saying no, not, no, hell no.
I do not think you will see Lamar Jackson in

(01:00:18):
a Patriot's uniform in twenty twenty three. Coming up, time
to break down the final four buy team with a
comprehensive scouting report. For first, let's go back to our guy,
Kevin Figures with the latest. All right, Bernie, We'll start
with some news out of the NBA. The league in
the players Association have reached an agreement on a new
seven year collective bargaining agreement that includes an end season

(01:00:39):
tournament in a sixty five game minimum for players to
be eligible to win awards like MVP and Defensive Player
of the Year. There is an opt out after year
six of the deal. On the court Friday night, Kevin
Durant score at thirty points, leading the Suns to their
fourth trade victory, a one hundred to ninety three win
over Denver, who do not have Nakola Yoki or Jamal
Murray in the lineup. Go State hammered the Spurs one

(01:01:01):
thirty to one fifteen as Steph Curry scored thirty three
points yeat the King's, beating Portland Memphis defeating the Clippers
one away to ninety four. Anthony Davis with thirty eight
points and seventeen rebounds lead the Lakers over Minnesota. Joel
and beating James Harden combined for forty eight points and
a six ers victory over Toronto. Victories for the Nicks, Celtics, Bulls,
and the Pacers. In baseball, Kyle Freeland tall six shutout
innings as the Rockies beat the Padres four to one.

(01:01:23):
A two run home run for Kyle Lewis as Arizona
defeat the Dodgers two to one. At the Women's Final four,
Caitlin Clark scored forty one points, leading Iowa to an
upset win over previously unbeaten South Carolina. They will compete
for the national championship against LSU, who defeated Virginia Tech
seventy nine to seventy two. Back to Bernie Fredo, Hey,
Kevin real quickly, probably tomorrow, I'm gonna get into the

(01:01:44):
NBA CBA deal. I know they wanted to get it
done by today. It's my understanding that the cross to
eliminate the one on the one and done and make
it you can sign out of high schools defeated, So
the one and done is still here. Is that correct? You?
That is correct? Yeah, that is great, The one that
done is still here. I guess there was a lot
of pushback from owners, general managers, and players. You know,

(01:02:06):
veteran players say, if you bring in a lot of
younger guys, veterans are going to lose their jobs. And
then for scouts and front offices, they said it will
be increasingly difficult to go out back into high school
gyms and start recruiting kids from from a younger age.
And it's a high school. So something that's been fought
back by the players and front offices. You know, we
might we might chop that up a little later in
the show. I've got some thoughts about that because it's
one of the most understood clauses in the NBA. When

(01:02:30):
when when Commissioner O'Brien, uh, you know, created that, uh,
you don't have to go to college for a year.
He just wanted to take a year between high school.
Because for every Moses Malone, you know, there's a gym
Willoughby or Di Sbastian telfare. So the bottom line, you know,
he's he said, well, we need to create a system

(01:02:50):
to protect us from ourselves. Well, we might get to
that a little bit later because I think it's an
interesting political football. All right, So this isn't exactly been
Final four anybody predicted. I told you there's there's actually
thirty seven brackets out of seventy million that had this
Final four. How you had it, I don't know. Two
hundred and seventy one thousand had all four of these
teams losing in the first round. So there was a

(01:03:11):
consortium of coaches that broke down the final four teams.
Some of them were assistants, some of them were head coaches.
All of them have one commonality. They played against these
teams during the regular season, and they had some interesting
thoughts as they crossed him any enemy lines. And so
let's start with Florida Atlantic in San Diego State. So
what was the consensus among the coaches about Florida Atlantic.

(01:03:35):
Who I actually believe they're gonna beat San Diego State Saturday.
I'm not saying I'm rooting for that. I'm saying that's
what I think is going to happen. According to one coach,
his terminology was they were they were the most He
believes they were the most connected team in college basketball.
You know, what do they mean? Their cohesive unit? You know,
Isaiah Thomas once told me he believed point guard was

(01:03:56):
the most important position in basketball or in sports because
one man with the ball in his hand could dictate
the movements and nine other people. What Florida Atlanta looks
to be really efficient that way, they make the extra
pass better than anybody. If they have a weakness, it
would be maybe their their team size. But their guards
play bigger than they are, and they got four guys

(01:04:19):
that all have guard skills. They can dribble, pass and shoot.
And then you get that big stud vladish Lav Golden
playing the way he is. Florida State or Florida Atlantic
has proven they can be just about beat anybody in
the country. They killed now I believe that the Big
Twelve was the best conference in college basketball this year.
Florida State or Florida Atlantic killed Kansas. Stayed on the

(01:04:42):
offensive glass, so they don't always have a guy stand
back though, So if you get those defensive rebounds, you
can beat Florida Atlantic in transition. But Elijah Martin, it
considers the real deal. He's very athletic, he's very strong,
he finished, he's at the rim. He's tough enough to
draw a team as a bigger defender because you can't
put a four. You know, you can't put a foreman

(01:05:02):
on Janelle Davis. He'll break you down. You have to
play Davis before he catches the ball. You got to
deny them the ball if he doesn't score or he
gets frustrated. But their defense is really solid. Florida don't
don't go to sleep on Florida Atlantics defense. San Diego
States has been the goal standard in the tournament this
year because of their size. They're linked, the way they
help switch, rotate, communicate, they can test everything. They don't

(01:05:25):
give you free catches in space, They really get in
your face. They recruit that way, they coach that way,
they play the way defenses desire. San Diego State wrote
the book on it. But Florida Atlantic can load up
on defense too, and they gang rebound and they might
force you inside to make threes, and you got to
make your shots from mid range. And if Matt Bradley
has a type of game that he's had, he had
three bad games in a row, I think Santia State

(01:05:48):
could be in trouble. Now. San Diego State is physically
stronger than Florida Atlantic. That's gonna be a big challenge.
But against Kansas State, believe it or not, Florida Atlanta
was the more imposing team. And the thought is that
San Diego State might not have the same kind of
success they had against Florida Atlantic that they had against Alabama.

(01:06:11):
Remember it's been publicized over and over that Alabama was
three to twenty seven from behind the arc while taking
nothing away from San Diego State. A lot of those
were wide open looks that they just simply missed. Okay,
let's talk about San Diego State, and this is what
concerns me about San Diego State, and this was also
part of the coach's consensus. Vigo long stretches without scoring. Now,

(01:06:34):
I saw San Diego State a lot this year. I've
seen him a lot in the last twelve years here
in the Mountain West Conference. They come to Las Vegas
twice a year for the regular season conference, came against
UNV and then of course of the Mountain West Tournament.
But then they'll go big and that defense carries them,
but it also hurts them because you got a couple
of fours and fives on the floor who clog up

(01:06:56):
the lane. They play good defense, but but they don't
shoot and they can't space the floor. And you know,
Matt Bradley is shown that if you put some size
on him and run him off the three point line,
he's not as effective. And frankly, he's Matt Bradley's been
very unreliable in the tournament. And one of the things
teams try to do is getting Matt Bradley and then

(01:07:18):
the clock situations and make him take that mid rain
shot when the clock is running out. And he's been unreliable.
He's been good, he's been not as good. They're gonna
have to but by the way Steve. Brian Dutcher's a
hell of a coach, a very good coach, and he's
made adjustments and he's done a much better job, or
he's done a great job just figuring out how to

(01:07:41):
get Dari and trammeled the ball in critical situations. And
Dutcher is underrated as an offensive coach. Look, you can't
be in this position without putting the ball in the basket.
It's just said. San Diego State. Everything they do they
do flows from their defense, but Brian Dutcher usually runs
the flow offense where everybody touches the ball. Brian Dutcher

(01:08:03):
is very good at game planning. He's very good at
identifying matchups and attacking. Then, of course, San Diego State's
defense is very physical. They do a really good job
of taking you know, you know, not crossing the line,
going right up to the line and what's allowed in
college basketball. They do give up a lot of threes,
but they are second in the nation in three point defense,

(01:08:25):
So there's your angle. Florida Atlantic most likely is going
to need to make a lot of threes to beat
San Diego State, and Florida Atlantic likes to drive and kick,
but when you try to win those angles and one
on one defensive battles against San Diego States defense. San
Diego State is very good at that. And I will

(01:08:46):
tell you one of the things San Diego State does
well on defense is get from here to there in
the wink of an eye. You know, defense is desire.
You beat your man to that spot. You got six feet,
you got a second to get there. They try to
cut you off at the pass, over and over and over.
San Diego State in Florida Atlantic should be a very
entertaining basketball game for purists. You're gonna see a lot

(01:09:08):
of boxing out. You're gonna see a lot of defense.
You're gonna see a lot of intelligent possessions where there
are two, three, four or five passes. You're gonna see depth,
You're gonna see physicality. It's gonna be a great game.
I'm just concerned that San Diego States, you know their
proclivity to go long stretches without scoring. I think it's
gonna catch him all right. Miami probably the best story

(01:09:30):
in the tournament, maybe even more so than Yukon because
you gotta love Jim Larnagan. By the way, I like
Danny Hurley to the kid almost quit basketball, and look
what he's doing now. And you know about his brother
Bobby and his dad Miami. They rely on getting to
eighty to eighty five points if they have a bad
shooting night. We already know that Miami's got a leaky defense.
They're very vulnerable, okay, but they have a way of

(01:09:53):
putting the ball in the basket, even if the shots
aren't always pretty. Sometimes Miami's defense isn't great. Nigel Packed,
George Miller, they're not exactly the greatest guys defensively, okay.
So it's gonna fall on Isaiah Wong's shoulders and they
may make him take multiple dribbles. They're going to force
him to make that first dribble when you load your defense,

(01:10:16):
force him into a hard shot. You've got to be
really aggressive on ball screens. If you go under, they'll
kill you. I do believe that Pack has great range,
So you want to chase him off the line. You
want them trying to make plays at the rim. Miami
has an excellent backcourt, but you can't expose their ball handling,
all right, But Miami has a way. This is the thing. Man.

(01:10:39):
They did it against Texas They've done it several times
this year. Remember how Hi everybody wasn't that Drake team. Look,
Miami just wears teams down. I guess that's what I'm
getting at. They make it a game of attrition. They're
always swiping at the ball. They ball watch a little
on defense, so you might get cuts and movements. The
one edge here is yukm does have better okay, and

(01:11:02):
I think San Diego State is going to have a
hard time defending Yukon at the basket and uh, you
know they've got Miami's got a six foot seven guy
their own. But it's the ACC. And for whatever reason,
this year, the ACC did not have a whole lot
of players as big and physical as Yukon. So Yukon's

(01:11:24):
got a satisfactor and they got a depth factor, and
they've proven that if if you're a Yukon and you say, okay,
we bring our best and you bring your best, our
best is going to be better than your best, Which
leads me to the final team of the Final four,
the Yukon Huskies will break them down. Coming up, I'm
Bernie frado Or come to you live from the Las

(01:11:44):
Vegas Fox Sports Radio tireract dot Com Studios. Don't go anywhere.
You're listening to the Bernie Frauders Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Back on the Bernie Frauder Show, Fox Sports Radio. Come
to you alive from the entire act dot Com studios
here in Las Vegas. We are just hours away. We
are about fourteen hours away, a little over that from

(01:12:05):
San Diego State, tipping off Lord Atlantic. We're down to
the final four teams in the twenty twenty three tournament.
For the first time in tournament history, no top three
seed or better even made it to the final four,
first time since nineteen seventy three, first time teams have
made it to the final four in the same year.
Yukon the only team in this group who's actually been

(01:12:27):
in the final four. So the remaining teams Yukon, Miami,
San Diego State, in Florida Atlantic, only Yukon's previously appeared
in the final four. There will be no number one
seed in the final four. You already know that, first
time since twenty eleven. And also this is the first
time in tournament history that no top three seeds made
it to the final four. So interesting, crazy year and

(01:12:49):
every team deserves to be here. Look at San Diego State,
the Aztecs. They've uped their game. They've smarted the opponents.
They beat Alabama, the number one team. They've health teams
to seventeen percent from behind the art they did in
the regular season. They held teams cumulatively twenty seven percent
behind the art. Florida Atlantic. They deserve to be here

(01:13:11):
in their own right. They won thirty five games, They've
won eleven games in a row. They've received little recognition.
I check that they've not won fifteen games in a
row or thirty five and three. They are sort of
the Cinderelli Cinderella story, maybe even more so than San
Diego State. Just their second tournament appearance ever, and they're
a very deep team and they're playing nine man rotation.

(01:13:32):
I think they're gonna get San Diego State. You've heard
me talk about Miami. Miami is a good nil school.
They're probably seen as a football school. They didn't even
have basketball between sixty nine and eighty three. They're greatest
player of all time, of course, Rick Barry. Miami is
a well compensated backcourt. Look their backcourt has carried into
Houston as well as are a great coach. Jim Larenega.

(01:13:55):
But the coach's consensus in this anonymous group that got
together and sort of had this coffee table round table chat,
believe that Yukon was the team in the field of
four that collectively the coaches didn't believe anybody will beat them.
They went on to say, these coaches and some assistants,

(01:14:18):
some head coaches, etc. But all had played these teams
during the year that the only way they lose is
if they have a bad shooting night. And what teams
the consensus seems to be, And we saw Yukon here
in Las Vegas, and they are pretty impressive. They completely

(01:14:39):
frustrated and flustered Arkansas and took them apart and exposed them.
They completely bludgeoned the number one offense in the country
in Gonzaga. And I think one of the things that
people have a stark realization of is when you take
the floor against Yukon, you can study them, you can

(01:15:00):
watch them on film, you can observe them, you can
game plan against them, and all of a sudden unfolds
the living color on the hardwood ninety four feet and
you get on the floor with him, and the consensus
is they're way better live than they are on film.
And when you look at the four teams, they play
in different ways. And the teams that Yukon has played

(01:15:20):
in these four games, no matter how their opponents played,
yukonscious picked them apart. And their players know their roles
inside and out. They're very well coached. They play tough,
they play smart, and you better make a decision on
Andrey Jackson. He might be an on shooter, but if
you back off me, he's like a quarterback who can
survey the field. He'll always find the right decision with

(01:15:41):
the ball. You have to really crowd Jordan Hawkins. You
have to get up on him and hope he has
a bad night. He's constantly moving like former Connecticut great
and Piston great part of the four championship team, Rip Hambleton.
This is a team that's great. They're they're fit there,
you know by the way they say Jordan Hawkins is
the most in shape play are in college basketball. And

(01:16:01):
he's got maybe the prettiest jump shot in college basketball.
And you better limit his catches because he gets the
thing off quick. And that's just down offense. Yukon is conditioned.
They wear you out, but defensively, they're phenomenal too. They
mix things up more than they have in the past.
Dan Hurley has instill toughness, make everything difficult on your opponent.

(01:16:23):
And you know, they have a point guard that you
probably haven't heard of, Tristan Newton. He's not like you
know this Isaiah Thomas, jet quick guy, but he is tremendous.
And you have to guard out Adamasinobo with one person
because if you double him, you're gonna get buried somewhere else.
Early in the season he was scoring a lot, but
now he's passing. You got to keep him off the catches,

(01:16:46):
make him score over your Miami's perimeter is going to
be allowed for Ukon to handle. I get it. But
Ukon's got size, they got strength, they got toughness, they
got rim protection, and they're on a hell of a role.
They've been winning games by twenty two points. That's the
consensus among the coaches who had this round table. They
don't think anybody can beat Yukon. We shall see coming

(01:17:06):
up a memo to Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.
Keep it locked. This is Bernie Frattle on Fox Sports Radio. Well,
that's right, you heard the man. The Bernie Frattle Show
keeps rolling right along. We're coming you alive from the
tirac dot com studios here in Las Vegas. Tirerac dot com.
We'll help you get there at unmatt selection fast free

(01:17:27):
shipping for your road hazard protection in over ten thousand
recommended installers tirac dot com. The way tire buying should
be so. As I mentioned earlier in the show, the
Lamar Jackson ish got real earlier in the week because

(01:17:47):
he's now asking out of Baltimore, and his timing was
so cryptic just before his head coach, John Harbaugh was
giving a scheduled press conference, who did a series of
tweets saying you wanted out. So he not only publicizes
his trade request, he reminds people that he actually shared
this with his employer back on March second. That's a

(01:18:09):
bit of time. It's a month ago, you know. By
the way, March seventh is when the Ravens decided to
non exclusive franchise tag him at the thirty two May
until Lamar is free to seek his own deal. People
aren't exactly lining up. It's not an indictment on his talent.
People have to ask themselves, you really want to tie

(01:18:30):
up twenty five percent of your salary cap and one
guy he has missed ten games in the last two years.
You get the picture right on down the line. So
what's going to happen? Well, I'll tell you what I
think should happen. I think both Baltimore and Lamar Jackson
need to really stop and think about where the hell
this kid had up and how much they really could

(01:18:53):
regret this in later years. Let me tell you a
little story. Parable. There were these two twin brothers, Bob
and Bill, and they presided over their family farm for
forty years, and they lived in you. They each lived
in their own separate house, but they were only a
hundred yards apart, and the only thing that separated him

(01:19:14):
was a grassy field. These guys, Bob and Bill, were inseparable.
They shared their tools, they shared labor, they shared knowledge,
they shared ideas. They were simpatico for forty years until
one day they have a small disagreement and needed would
budge and it grew into a full blown argument. Then
there was confrontation, and then there was yelling, and then

(01:19:35):
there was name calling, and then there was contempt, and
then finally silence. Bob and Bill didn't speak to each
other for three months, and one day Bob looked out
his window across that grassy field to find that Bill
had actually constructed a moat between their two homes. This

(01:19:57):
separated the brothers even more dramatically, and it was a
symbolic well. Bob was seething. He says, I'm going to
get even. He decided he would up the ante and
he'd remember that a handyman had just reached out to
him recently, and his handyman had been looking for work.
So Bob commissioned a handyman to build a fence. He
told the handyman, I want you to build a ten

(01:20:19):
foot fence, this huge barrier built to the finest lumber.
I don't want to ever see him again. And Bob
went on to tell the handyman, I'm going to be
out of town for a couple of days. I want
the job done by the time I get back. I
need you to complete this job immediately. I will pay
you extra. The handyman said, don't worry, I know exactly

(01:20:39):
what you need. Bob returns up from his trip two
days later, and he could not wait to see the
finished product. But as he pulled up to the property,
instead of seeing a ten foot wall, he saw this big,
beautiful wooden bridge. It was assembled over the moat, and
it had handrails and his dazzling finish. He was incredible,

(01:21:01):
and when Bob looked closer, he was even more surprised
to see that he saw his brother Bill standing at
the other side of the bridge, motioning for Bob to
come outside. Bob approached. As he did, they both met
in the middle of the bridge, and Build extended his
hand and he said, you know, Bob, for all the
terrible things I've done and said about you, when I

(01:21:21):
saw that you constructed this bridge, you know, I realized
how much our relationships meant and I want to start
all over again. I really want to go back to
the way it was. Well. Needless to say, his brother
was overjoyed. So Bob called the handyman, introduced him to Bill,
and after they both told him his work was spectacular,

(01:21:41):
they said, you know, we know you were looking for work.
We've got good news for you. We've got plenty of
new jobs to keep you working for a long time.
Handyman thought about it, says, you know, I love to
stand help, but I can't. I'm actually off to build
some more bridges, many more bridges. That's my calling, and

(01:22:02):
that's where I'm needed most. And that's exactly what the
Baltimore Ravens need. They need to build that bridge back
between as one time was their Star Prize and their
ticket to the Super Bowl. This is a really weird
situation for Jackson the Ravens because when Lamar Jackson's healthy,
he's proved he can be the most electrifying player in football.

(01:22:25):
I get it. He hasn't been able to stay healthy
late past two seasons. He's missed ten games. It's understandable
the Ravens might be a little hesitant to give him
a record setting contract, especially when it's been reported that,
you know, Lamar is using DeShawn Watson's contract as a benchmark,
and that contract actually looks worse and worse by the day.

(01:22:45):
I know. By the way, it's equally understandable the Lamar
Jackson saying, hey, I've been an MVP. I was only
twenty two when I won the MVP, and I haven't
been in trouble like DeShawn Watson was. And I think
most people would agree that Lamar Jackson, he's an outlier
among his peers. And here's another reason Lamar Jackson's an

(01:23:08):
out liar and why I've been pretty objective about this
over the weeks. But you know, the Ravens shorts aren't
clean either because before Lamar jat or checked that, before
Deshaun Watson got his deal, Lamar Jackson was eligible for one,
but the Ravens didn't exactly step up then either. As
a matter of fact, every other top quarterback in recent

(01:23:29):
NFL history, they've gotten the contract extension before the rookie
deal expired. Andrew luck He got one, Can Newton got one.
They both got theirs after their fourth seasons. The Shawn Watson,
Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, they all got the big contract

(01:23:49):
after their third season. So Lamar Jackson he had his
fifth year option exercised by the Ravens before his fourth season,
and he actually had to play out his eye O
year last season. But when you look at the current
contract and the CBA that was originally negotiated the Rocky
Wade scale back in twenty eleven, there's only been two quarterbacks,

(01:24:12):
Marcus Mariota and Jamis Winston that have had to plan
their fifth year option, and I think you would agree
neither one of those guys is anywhere near as good
as Lamar Jackson. Now most insiders believe and think, in yes,
in surmise that Jackson will still up resigning with the Ravens.

(01:24:36):
Maybe you keep hearing this three year contract, three years guaranteed,
three years, one hundred and thirty three million. How do
we know that's the group think echo chamber talking. Has
that really come from any credible inside source? I don't
know if it has. Tell me, but see now that
this trade request happened last Monday and it became so
public and so cryptic. I think that's add a genuine

(01:24:59):
uncertain jackson future and that type of uncertainty that shot
across the bow that wasn't there a month ago. That's
Bill building the moat. They already hadn't talked, They've already
had the relationship breaking down, but now all of a sudden,
Lamar has taken it a step further, and I think

(01:25:19):
there's a very real chance he could end up elsewhere.
Now at the same time, and you get the drill.
Jackson has been free to sign an offer sheet with
any team since Baltimore placed the non exclusive tag on
him March seventh. He hasn't done so because the offers
haven't been there. So what will change? What will change

(01:25:40):
here in the near term, Well, I don't know what
will change in terms of other teams possibly being interested
that haven't been before. You hear Indianapolis his name thrown
out there. I don't know if I believe it. I
just ki boshed the New England rumors. I never once
believe Atlanta would jump in the mix. And there's multiple
reasons why not, the least of which they want to
see if they can build around Desmond Ritter. So who's

(01:26:02):
going to have a change of heart? Is Lamar Jackson
going to have a change of heart? He still doesn't
have an agent, and I think even if he had
an agent, I don't even know if that would matter.
But that doesn't help that he doesn't have an agent.
And meanwhile, Baltimore, maybe they should be the adult in
the room. Okay, you realize that Lamar Jackson, he does
not believe a two hundred and fifty million dollar contract

(01:26:24):
with one hundred and thirty three million dollars guaranteed is
suitable for him. He doesn't believe that represents his value.
And you've heard me say many times, I believe Lamar
Jackson's fight has been misdirected because he's focused solely unguaranteed money.
And the history shows an elite quarterback, top tier quarterbacks
who get top tier deals between the age of twenty

(01:26:44):
five and twenty seven, they end up collecting the full
amount of the contract ninety percent of the time. Anyway,
he got all today's medical advancements. There's almost never current
and injuries for quarterbacks. Quarterbacks almost never get cut. So
the irony is if he would assigned it to life,
he's probably collected full two fifty. But it's symbolic Portman
want to be rich, Richmond, want to be king. Lamar

(01:27:06):
Jackson has really dug in and taken a position. He's
really taken a position. Now he's gone public. So if
you're the Ravens, as part of my memo, someone's got
to make the first move. And you say, okay, Lamar,
you didn't like one thirty three guaranteed, I get it.
Maybe you're even looking at Carler Murray. He got one

(01:27:27):
hundred and eighty nine guaranteed. Maybe we ventured toward that.
Maybe Baltimore finds it in their heart, they find it
in their soul, they find it in their check book.
To raise the guaranteed portion at least, maybe try to
get in the area of splitable differences and say, Lamar,
we really don't want to go forward without you. Nothing
against Tyler Huntley. All Pro quarterback, Tyler Huntley, by the way,

(01:27:49):
Pro Bowl quarterback, Tyler Huntley, by the way, who I
thought competed admirably. He's not Lamar Jackson. You've heard me
joke a million times when Lamar Jackson is not playing
football for the Baltimore Ravens. Yeah, that offense couldn't score
in a women's prison with a fifth full of fifties
with Lamar Jackson of the number two offense. Points wise,
without Lamar Jackson there in the bottom three, that doesn't

(01:28:12):
happen by accident. So can you get in the area
of splitable differences. Can you call Lamar Jackson back to
the table and say, Okay, we get it. We thought
we'd get you at this contract here. We can't bring
it to two fifty guaranteed. It just isn't going to happen.
But let's work something out so we can both save face.
Maybe we get you guaranteed three year deal. Maybe we

(01:28:34):
increase the guaranteed portion, which is where you've placed your focus,
which is where you've placed your desires, which is where
you've dug in, And maybe we can meet somewhere in
the middle. Because the truth of the matter is, if
they do get this worked out somehow, Someway and Lamar
Jackson is under quarterback under center for the Ravens come September,

(01:28:55):
all sides will breathe a sy relief. Just like Bill
and Bob Hey, we said did some terrible things about
each other. I see that in air quotes. But when
you really step back and realize how much this relationship
means to both sides, can we go back to the
way it was. The clock is ticking, and I've seen
this before with other sports teams. I've been doing this

(01:29:16):
in a long time. When if Lamar leaves, you can't
unring that bell. And I think the Ravens will rue
the day. And frankly, I think Lamar might too, because
he's more effective and more needed in Baltimore maybe than elsewhere,
even though no matter where he went he's going to
be dynamic. But can they really match him up with
personnel that suits his freedom and autonomy the same way

(01:29:39):
John Harbaugh gave it to him coming up while bringing
the crew. We'll see what Ethan and Kevin have to say.
Where does this thing end up? Where would they like
it to end up? Could they see Lamar elsewhere from
Baltimore in twenty twenty three? Could they see Lamar possibly
sitting out in twenty twenty three? Would he be really

(01:30:00):
willing to play for the non exclusive tag to thirty
two million a year or just Baltimore pointing up a
little more? Or do they find themselves in a situation
where he's in another team. We'll chop those things up,
try to solve the world's problems. I'm Bernie Frauder Wore.
Come to your live from Las Vegas, Tiract dot Com

(01:30:21):
Studios here a Fox Sports Radio. Don't go away. You're
listening to the Bernie Fratder Show on Fox Sports Radio.
All right back at the Bernie Fratder Show. Come to
your life from the Tiract dot Com Studios, Fox Sports
Radio here in Las Vegas. The Lamar Jackson Baltimore Ravens
saga has a lot of layers, and it just added
another one in this past Monday. So Kevin, let's start

(01:30:44):
with you. Let's kind of start this in bullet point fashion.
First of all, what was your reaction when you heard
that Lamar Jackson has officially asked out of Baltimore. I
wasn't super surprised. I was surprised that in this twenty
four hour media cycle and social media, that it took
this long to become public, and he's one of that
made a public is saying that he requested it a
week or two before. So I wasn't super surprised, just

(01:31:05):
considering the situation between himself and the organization over the
last couple of months, and you just assume when it
comes down to this and how much money he's asking for,
and injury history and all and all of that, you
know that there's a point of contention and that there
it will become personal at a certain point. So I
am not the least bit surprised that he requested a trade.
So he reported that he asked out in March. Second,

(01:31:25):
we didn't hear about it until Monday, March twenty seventh.
He was franchise tag March seventh. Do you think this
is a ploy or do you think he really does
want out, and I have a specific reason for asking
his question. Can it be both? I think it's a ploy.
I think it's like you would prefer to stay in Baltimore.
But he says, look, if you guys are not going
to be willing to play ball and do what I ask,

(01:31:47):
you say you want me, but you're not showing it,
So show me the door, or at least allow me
to explore other options. And maybe that's what was discussed
when he requested the trade, and they said, well, we'll
tag you go out there and see what the market bears,
and we'll see if we can come back to the
drawing board and negotiate a trade. So I think if
he had a preference, he preferred to stay in Baltimore,
but he's certainly not opposed to going elsewhere because he

(01:32:08):
wants to make sure he gets well compensated. So my
interpretation was he really does want out because enough time
has passed now, including from before the Shaun Watson got
his contract, that the Ravens could have stepped up at
any time, which they in their own right believe they did.
But now since by Lamar's own admission, he believes that
you know, the Ravens have really not been quote interested

(01:32:30):
in meeting my value. I might as well just go
somewhere else. So that leads to the next question. Is
this reconcilable? Do you think these two can put their
differences aside? Or sometimes in relationships, somebody can say something
you can't un ring that bell and it signals the
beginning of the end. Do you think this is irreconcilable
or they can patch this up. I think it's reconcilable,

(01:32:52):
mainly based out of circumstance because and you ran it
down a less segment. You know who's left. What are
the organizations that he can go to? I mean the
teams that are quarterback starved, most of them at least
have come out publicly and said that they're not interested
for various reasons. Whether it's Atlanta saying they're going with
Gritter Washington said, you know they're moving forward with how
than the guys they have in house there. So if

(01:33:13):
he runs out of options, if Lamar Jackson's only option
is playing for Baltimore player for nobody, I mean, I look,
I guess he can do the ego play and say
I'm not playing for anyone unless my contract demands are met,
but most competitors are not willing to do something like that.
And look, I know it's a different position in a
different time, but we saw it happy with Levion Bill
when he played that game, set out the entire year,
came back and wasn't the same player. So I'm not

(01:33:35):
saying that's going to happen to Lamar Jackson. But if
you're asking about the options as of right now, to me,
it looks like the most valuable options are Baltimore or nowhere.
And if that's the case, I think he ends up
playing with Baltimore. So that's going to require Lamar Jackson
to somewhat chuck as ego at the door. And I
don't think it's gonna be so easy, which leads to
the Knox question. If it is reconcilable, obviously someone's gonna

(01:34:00):
have to make a move. Who blinks first, you see Baltimore,
or maybe saying okay, maybe we can sweeten the pot
a little bit. Who makes the first move? Who blinks?
I think Baltimore probably blinks a little bit first and say, look,
we'll make a little bit of concession, whatever that is.
If there's language in the contract to get him extra
money via bonuses or maybe up the guarantees a little

(01:34:20):
bit more than what he was originally asking for. But
I don't think it's going to be any major movement
of Baltimore side. You know. I think they said all
the right things, you know, publicly about him, how much
they love them, and they want them to be their
quarterback of the future. And I believe they do think that.
But everybody has a price point, everybody has a point
where they a point of no return, but they say,
we can't do this anymore. So I think Baltimore might

(01:34:41):
be willing to budget a little bit, but only a
little bit. And if that's the case, in Lamar Jackson
wants to continue to, you know, be headstrong about it,
I think Baltimore would just end up moving on all right.
So that leads to the next point. If for whatever reason,
neither side budgets and you find yourself in the same
situa where the offers the same July seventeenth rolls around,

(01:35:05):
do you think is it possible Lamar Jackson simply sits
out the same way Levion Building. I don't. I think ultimately,
if nothing is resolved, I think he just ends up
signing the franchise tag and playing out the year. Okay,
I think that's where it's going to end up. If
he does that, though, will there be such a stension
the room that it's going to be difficult to overcome.

(01:35:27):
You'd hope not, but you just never know. These situations
are always really funky. So it depends on his relationship
with the other guys in the locker room, the coaches.
The front office doesn't matter as much, you know, Bernie.
I mean a lot of times the players are so
disconnected from the front office on a day to day basis,
that part doesn't really matter. So it's more important about
his relationship with John Harball, the coaching staff, and the

(01:35:48):
rest of those players. And it's gonna be up to Lamar. Look,
he almost will be betting on himself, Bernie. If he
signs that franchise tag and he stays healthy and he
plays well, you know, the number goes up year in
and year out, you know, for the franchise tag single years.
So I doubt that Baltimore will want to tag him
for a second year in a row. So this might
end up being one of the best things he ever
could do. You know, if he wants to prove that
he's worth every single time that he says he's worth.

(01:36:10):
Maybe he goes out there and approve a deal on
one year on the franchise tag any balls out, and
of course you can take a page from Kirk Cousins book.
It seems to work for him. So I think we
may be landing in the same spot here. When all
is said and done, more will be said than done.
He's back in Baltimore playing on the thirty two million
dollars franchise. Take all, right, Ethan, let's start with you
from the top. When you heard Lamar was asking to

(01:36:32):
be treated were what was your reaction? Honestly, I thought
this was a long overdue I think he's wanted to
add a Baltimore for a long time. I just think
there's a little bit part of him that, you know,
he thought. The reason I think he, you know, has
stuck around in Baltimore, even had the thought of sticking
around in Baltimore, is because he still thinks he can

(01:36:54):
win a championship or a super Bowl, and you know,
in the past years and at this point, I don't
think I think he's like over that and realize that
there's no point at him staying in Baltimore. Okay, so
you believe that Lamar's contractor man is not a ploy.
He's like, I'm out of here. You believe it's legit.

(01:37:16):
He just he just wants out. See, you wouldn't want
to be out. This is not a game. Yeah, hell
out of you. Give me the hell up out of here.
You you believe that. I think he knows his value
and his talent anything. He knows that he can go.
I mean with you know, the money aside and like
the contracts aside. He knows that he could play anywhere. Now,
I know you're gonna get into a question if he

(01:37:37):
sits out, but um, yeah, I think he. I think
he has the leverage here. All right, let me ask
you a question. You're convinced the ploy or check out,
the request to be traded was not a ploy, was
not a game, was not a false veiled threat. It's real.
Get me out of here. They say they don't trade him,

(01:37:58):
they can't trade him, whatever the case may be. He's
still on the roster after July seventeenth. Do you believe
he sits up and plays under the franchise tag or
he sits out? Yeah? I think he plays because he's
a competitor. I feel like, didn't we have this situation
last year with him not as as big, but didn't
he signed the fifth year option. Nice year, that's what

(01:38:18):
he played under. All right, Well, I think he's gonna
play regardless. I don't think he's the type of guy
to sit out. I think he knows that if he
sits out, it will just hurt his career. More So,
if it comes to that point, if we make it
all the way to middle July and he's still not
with the team, then yeah, I could see him suiting
up and them just putting everything to this side. So

(01:38:42):
we've all landed at the same place. Last question, real quickly.
If he does play, is it going to be so
much stench in the room that it's going to be
a distraction and it'll affect their performance if they win? No,
if they lose, then yes, winning, So you think you'll
give max effort. He'll give max effort as long as
they Yeah, all right, I am kind of an agreement

(01:39:04):
with you guys. The writing appears to be on the
wall based on the lack of market response and where
we seem to be unless a wildcard comes in on
the left field that no one can see. We shall
see this continues to get more interesting because, like I said,
what changed the dynamic this week was a simple trade
request that frankly wasn't so simple. All right, coming up,

(01:39:24):
lots to unpact Chris Prefet's World of Soccer, but first
to come back to our guy, Kevin Figures with the latest.
All right, we'll start with some news out of the NBA,
Bernie the league in the players Association reaching an agreement
on a new seven year collective bargaining agreement that includes
an in season tournament and a sixty five game minimum
for players to be eligible to win awards. There is
an opt out on the deal after year six. On

(01:39:46):
the court Friday Night, Kevin Durant score thirty points, leading
Phoenix to their fourth consecutive victory. They beat a shorthanded
Denver team one hundred to ninety three. No Nicola Yokich
or Jamal Murray. Michael Porter Jr. Also missed the game.
Golden State Hammere at the Spurs one thirty to one fifteen.
Steph Curry scoring thirty three points Kings with a victory
over the Trailblazers Memphis came back to beat the Clippers

(01:40:06):
one O eight to ninety four. They trailed by twenty
in the first quarter in that game, thirty eight point
seventeen boards for Anthony Davis as a Lakers one in
Minnesota to move into the seventh seat at West Joel
and beating James Harden, combining for forty eight points to
lead Philadelphia over Toronto. Victories for the Knick, Celtics, Bulls
and the Indiana Pacers in Major League Baseball. Kyle Freeland
toss six shoutout innings as the Rockies defeat at the

(01:40:26):
Padres four to one. A two run home run for
Kyle Lewis as Arizona defeated the Dodgers two to one.
Astro's a six to three victory over the White Sox.
Marlins get two solo home runs to beat the Mets
two to one. At the Women's Final four, Kitlan Clark
forty one points, leading Iowa to an upset victory over
South Carolina. They will compete for the national championship against
LSU on Sunday. Tigers defeating Virginia Tech seventy nine to

(01:40:49):
seventy two. Back to Bernie Fredoms, all right, thanks Kevin.
Good stuff tonight. Here we go this time every week,
there's more going on and you think and believe it
or not. World Cup Baseball even drew some We'll check
that the Yeah, it's not called the World Cup Baseball,
it's called the World Baseball Classic. But same basic concept

(01:41:10):
and there are some parallels. That's why each week we
bring you chrispoper Fett's World of Soccer. The greatest goals,
the thrilling finishes, the international drama. It's all here in

(01:41:32):
this report from the World of Soccer. If you will
permit me, Bernie, I want to take World of Soccer
in a bit of a different direction here this week.
My focus always on soccer has been a lot about
how this sport is so different to a lot of
the other sports we as Americans get exposed to. It's
what's drawn me to soccer. But what's also draw me

(01:41:54):
to soccer is to see how they do things across
the world in regards their athletes, it regards their competition,
and I always enjoy when I can find some parallels
to that in our own major Big three sports. Baseball
is back this week, Bernie, and in the words of
an immortal broadcaster, oh the waters. The rain is over

(01:42:16):
and gone, The flowers appear on the earth. The time
of the singing of birds has come, and the voice
of the turtle is heard in our land. Ernie Harwell
would recite this passage from the Song of Solomon on
Opening Day for the Detroit Tigers every year. But baseball
didn't really begin this year with Opening Day, did it, Bernie.

(01:42:38):
It began really with the World Baseball Classic. Now, the
World Baseball Classic is not new, It's been going on
for about seventeen years. However, in light of international events
like say the Olympics or the World Cup, it is
still very much so in its infancy. It's also not
the first time baseball has really been played at an

(01:42:58):
international level. However, the World Baseball Classic really began when
the International Olympic Committee decided back in two thousand and
five to remove baseball as an Olympic sport. It was
a chance for baseball to really show how really international
the game had become in the preceding century, and indeed,
from the very inception for the first two series in

(01:43:20):
two thousand and six two thousand and nine, it was
already appointment viewing for Japanese television some of the highest
ratings sporting events they had had in their history. But
love for the World Baseball Classic I really didn't feel
like really came home to America until this year, until
this two thousand and three series, until after the twenty
twenty one World Baseball Classic had been delayed due to

(01:43:41):
the COVID pandemic. But what love had received. The World
Baseball Classic in its best games outrated nearly every regular
season Major League Baseball game this past year. It generated buzz,
and to be honest, if it wasn't having to run
opposite of the NCAA Tournament, it could have probably been
the biggest thing on sports television in this country. Now.

(01:44:04):
In the history of American participation in team sports on
the international level, there's a couple of events, But I
wouldn't exactly say we as a country are someone who
really puts a lot of stock in having international events
for sports. We're kind of used to being the kings
of the castle where it comes to baseball, football, and basketball. Well,

(01:44:28):
you have events that we recognize, like the Miracle on Ice,
like the Dream Team for basketball, but we don't exactly
have a great tradition, a great pride in international teams
in international sports. Now, I believe that is changing. I
see it every year with each new World Cup where

(01:44:50):
Team USA is playing both in men's and for the
women's and certainly with this World Baseball Classic, suddenly there
is a great interest in the idea of international competition
for baseball. And why shouldn't baseball. Baseball has a vast,
rich tapestry. Listen to the Dominican players talking about what

(01:45:11):
it means for them to play for their republic. Listen
to what it means for the players of Puerto Rico.
Watch Japan, watch their fans in the stands waving giant flags,
coordinated cheers, everything. Watch those rich tapestries. That is what
baseball is for the rest of the world, and it

(01:45:33):
can be here in America as well. And that's what
I love about the World Cup too. You're exposed to
this vast celebration of human nature across seven billion people
across the globe in the World Cup, and baseball is
trying to emulate that. And I think with this last
World Baseball Classic, they've hit upon something very special and

(01:45:55):
I think it is starting to resonate at a great,
great level, and I cannot wait to see what it's
going to happen for them in twenty twenty six for
the next World Baseball Classic. I will say it's also
incredibly profitable if you can get a good international event going. FIFA,
who makes the vast majority of their income in a
four year cycle off the World Cup, reportedly made about

(01:46:16):
seven and a half billion dollars in Qatar. Now, granted,
there's some shenanigans with FIFA. They're a famously and comically
corrupt organization who lists themselves as a non profit and
pays out people like their president Infantino, large sums of
money that seem preposterous. Let's put that aside. The point

(01:46:38):
is that though corrupt FIFA aside, the World Cup taps
a primordial power I think international sports have, and hey,
clubs themselves can get in on this profit. Real Madrid
and Barcelona and English clubs in the Premier League are
not large across the world solely because they're some of
the best clubs in the world. They are largely gets

(01:47:00):
a lot of their publicity because of international player and
that's something I think baseball can really take from it.
We're already seeing it with Shohei Otani and the interest
from Japanese viewers to watch the Angels play. In fact,
he's really the only reason you would watch the Angels
if we're being honest. But also imagine the Dominican youth
who really enjoys watching Brian abrayeugh and loves these representing

(01:47:21):
his country, and he goes out and decides to become
a lifelong Houston Astros fan. These are the kind of
doors that open when your sport has that international competition element.
And it's also my story about how I got into
soccer because I loved watching Team Italy play when I
was getting into the World Cup. And on Team Italy

(01:47:42):
when I watched the World Cup was a man named
Francesco Totti. If you know anything about Francesco Totti, anything
about the man they call the Eighth King of Rome,
no this. He was a flamboyant player. He was a
bombastic player. He would do while after his goals. He
was an electric score. And I found through Toddy the

(01:48:04):
man that I wanted to watch in soccer, and I
found through Team Italy and his performance there. I found
that he represented a club called Roma as Roma in Rome,
and they played there for his entire career. And I
have supported Roma since that day as my club. That's
the power international sports can bring to the club level

(01:48:26):
in attracting new fans and new passions. And as a
final note to worried Americans who were ringing their hands
about Edwin Diaz and Jose Altuve getting hurt during the
World Baseball Classic, I want you to listen to them
as they talk about the passion they have for playing
for their country. I understand the Mets dropped a lot

(01:48:47):
of money in Edwin Diaz, but money isn't everything, and
we should not see these guys as just investments. They
are human beings. They are athletes of the highest level
who want to represent their country's at the highest level.
It would be like telling Naymar that he can't represent
Brazil or telling killing Embape that just because Paris Saint
Germaine pays him a lot of money, they cannot go

(01:49:09):
and play for France in the Euro Championship. It would
be absurd. They would never agree to it. These players
have a right to represent their country because that is
the highest calling in sport you can do, is represent
your country in an international competition, in a sport everyone
loves and wants to play. So enjoy baseball, Bernie, and

(01:49:30):
enjoy soccer as we get back to club play here.
Premier League once again going strong, and we're back with
you next week on the World of soccer. All right,
good stuff, And what's interesting is how often our American
sports are perhaps starting to amitate international soccer, not the
least of which under the new NBA CBA deal, which

(01:49:53):
will start with the twenty three twenty fourth season next
year in the league in the Union, it's going to
be ratified fairly soon. There are some interesting changes, not
the least of which is an in season tournament that
include pool play games baked into the regular season schedule.
That's taking a page from soccer. Coming up, we wrap

(01:50:17):
up the show and the Dan Sports and we look
ahead to Saturday. I'm Bernie Fratto. We're coming to you
alive from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio tirat dot
Com studios. Keep it locked right here. You're listening to
the Bernie Fratto Show on Fox Sports Radio. They're back
on the Bernie Fradis Show. Wrapping it up. Bernie Fratto

(01:50:39):
come to you live from the tirac dot Com studios
here in Las Vegas. Nevada Fox Sports Radio. Before I
go any further, I don't think my broadcast team back
in Los Angeles. They've been with me since eleven pm Pacific,
turning all the dials, keeping us glued together, and great
teamwork is always Ethan, great job on the game, as

(01:51:00):
is usual in creating it and producing it. And we
are now through week four. He'll have these standings up Monday.
Good job to night, Kevin Figures, always solid on the updates.
And Mark Ramsey, the brains behind the outfit, our technical producer.
Good job, guys, and we'll see you next Friday, same time,
same bad channel. Quickly, I want to congratulate Caitlyn Clark

(01:51:21):
and Iowa. The Iowa sam Hawkeyes incredible tour to force
performance to night forty one points, ten and a half
point underdogs to a very good South Carolina team would
won forty two games in a row. Interesting side note
Caitlyn Clark since the beginning of the Big Ten Tournament,
she's actually scored two hundred and thirty five points. So

(01:51:43):
that was the Big Ten Tournament and then of course
the March Madness to this point in five games, look,
she scored two hundred and thirty five points. The Iowa
Hawkeyes football team scored two hundred and thirty points all year.
Do with that you will. Most of our brackets have
been busted, shattered, destroyed, obliterated. Here's what's interesting. Of the

(01:52:07):
over seventy million brackets electronically verified in national contest, there
are actually thirty seven brackets still out there that correctly
selected Florida at San Diego State, Ukon of Miami used
their final four. Believe it or not, Rod serving Twilight Zone,
thirty seven brackets had this final four. How you did it?
I don't know. I don't know what. I don't want
to know. Conversely, of the seventy million verified electronically brackets

(01:52:31):
in national contests, there are over two hundred and seventy
one thousand brackets which had all four of these same
schools losing in the first round. Be that as it may.
We are down to the final four. San Diego State
in Florid Atlantic will tip off here in just about
thirteen and a half hours. San Diego State a two
and a half point favorite. They are elite defensively, they

(01:52:53):
ranked number four nationally and they've been locked in during
this run. They've held opponents to just fifty six points
per game. Starting at the beginning of the Montwest Conference Tournament,
San Diego State now has won seven games in a
row in the tournament. When you consider the conference tournament

(01:53:13):
as well, the key number for San Diego State seventy percent.
They're three point defense, which is number two in the nation,
has been the X factor for San Diego State that
helped get them their wins over Charleston, Furman, Alabama, and Crayton.
Those four teams have combined to go sixteen to ninety
four from behind the yard. The problem what concerns me
San Diego State, while being one of the best defensive teams,

(01:53:35):
he's not a particular elite shooting team. They go long
stretches without scoring the basketball. Is that going to be
a problem. I think it might be Florida Atlantic. They're deep,
they're athletic, they're energetic. They utilize all those advantages offensively
and defensively. Offensively, they play with pace. They play with space,

(01:53:57):
they get up a ton of three point attempts. Interesting
to San Diego State styles, Matches make fights. San Diego
State has made teams struggle from behind the arc. Florida
Atlantic has thrive behind the arc, and they take a
lot of threes. They keep defenses off balanced. Why because
they have multiple ball handlers that are capable of breaking
down a defense. And by the way, they're deep. They

(01:54:18):
have nine players who are average at least fifteen minutes
a game and they've all seen significant action. San Diego
State is all also well conditioned. But I think they
might be done tomorrow. We shall see. I like Florida
Atlantic Miami. They're versatile, they're incredible on the offensive, and
they have a lethal scoring team. Their offensive efficiency number
five in the country. Bottom line, For all their offensive ability,

(01:54:40):
they have glaring weaknesses on defense. However, they do make
up for it because they're tough, they always give good effort,
they have athleticism. It's been a not great defense. They
ranked number one on four and adjust a defensive efficiency
and all the other final four top competitors rank in
the top thirty. In San Diego State at the top five. Okay. Unfortunately,
Miami is not a especially deep team, but in this

(01:55:01):
tournaments they've been finishing good at the end tremendously. Their
second half cumulative score plus forty six. That's not bad.
They outscored by Drake in the second half in the
Enna by eleven, Houston by in Texas by fifteen, all
in the second half, Which leaves me to Yukon, which
most experts don't think people can beat them. They started

(01:55:22):
out fourteen and oh thirteen double digit wins, including a
fifteen point win against Alabama, and they finished the year
going thirteen and two. Yukon's won nineteen games by more
than fifteen points this season. They've won all four of
their games in the tournament buy an average of twenty
two Yukon. It looks like if they bring their best
and you bring your best, Yukon might prevail. It's tough
to go against them. Miami should give them everything they

(01:55:45):
can handle, but I feel like Yukon pulls away late. No.
By the way, Yukon has also outscored their opponents one
seventy four to sixty seven, and the second half that's
a point differentialist sixty seven. Get up to Danny Hurley
in company. I think we're headed toward a Yukon FAU final,
but we shall see what we shall see, because in
this tournament, you have to expect the unexpected that is

(01:56:05):
going to do it. For this week's edition of The
Bernie Fraddle Show will see it back on the airwaves
eleven o'clock Saturday night. The meantime, Keep it Locked Up. Next,
They're great, Anthony Gargano, Keep It Locked
