Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Hello, Hello, welcome to Fox Sports Saturday Saturday. I'm Bridge
at Condon alongside Nikki Ka. Our first time doing this together.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Oh my gosh, this is so much fun and we
have a lot to break.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Down and hey, guess what Tonight is the last night
that the sun is going to set before six o'clock
here in La.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
We made it. We made it to I just kind
of marked this as like the beginning the summer ramp up, right,
also just called spring.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
This is the best part of the year. I mean,
the NBA is starting to heat up. Free agency begins
next week. This is the prime March Madness.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Madness is honestly one of my favorite sporting events on
the calendar.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
There is no tournament event greater, no than March Madness,
especially that first week where you pay us part of
the generation where you would roll in the teacher would
roll in the cart with the TV on it during
school so that you could watch the game's midday.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Okay, we didn't have that dedicated of a sporting fan base,
really no, because I think I think I grew up
in Santa Barbara, right and college basketball. I don't know
if it was that like pervasive of a sport. That was,
you know, seeping into high school fandom. Right, But what
about you? Is that? What is that what you grew
up with?

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Totally?

Speaker 2 (01:27):
I had a calistry teacher that was a die hard
Duke fan. So in the months of March, put away
the Benson beemerge.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
You remember those things?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Yes, put away those and roll out the cart with
the TV on it iconic.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
What was this chemistry teacher's name?

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Oh god, now you're like, I know exactly what it looks.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Like, shout out, mister Smith. No, it was something.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Oh my god, I can't remember. Okay, well I don't
remember any of my teacher's names.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Anyway, so much happened in the NFL this week, Blockbuster
Trade last night. Look, I was on the beach enjoying
a night sunset.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
We can get that.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Yeah, sorry not to rub it in. I know the
East Coast is dealing with snow. Enjoying a nice dinner,
and my phone starts blowing up. I'm like, oh my god,
so many people are trying to get a hold of me,
wondering what my Friday night plans are. No Max Crosby
to the Ravens, the Raiders get the Ravens' first round
draft pick from this year twenty twenty six, So now

(02:24):
they have the first and the fourteenth pick in April's
draft plus their twenty twenty seven first round, two first rounders.
Incredible trade. Officially can't go through until next week. NFL
free agency starts officially Wednesday at four o'clock Eastern, but
you can start the negotiating and agreeing to terms Monday.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
At twelve o'clock Eastern.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
This is wild, especially coming from a Ravens team that
has never in their history thirty one years have they
ever used a first round pick to trade for a
veteran guy.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
And they just used to they will from this year
and next year.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Yeah, yeah, no, But I mean, like when you think
about that in the context of the franchise history, right
and every how they've operated. But I mean, for first thing,
when I got the notification, happy for Max totally. And
you talk about an athlete who is renowned for his
competitive spirit, his leadership, the way he approaches the game,

(03:26):
and to just be kind of mired in whatever the
Raiders muck has been six regime changes right in Oakland
for him, and now he's going to what feels to
be much more stability and champ you know, Super Bowl aspirations.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah, this is huge for Jesse Minter, who is the
new head coach for the Baltimore Ravens. Ravens had just
thirty sacks last season, the fewest amount that they've had
in fifteen years. Look, this is a Ravens team that
has struggled on defense since Mike McDonald left, their former
defensive coordinator, of course, went to Seattle to become their
head coach. And Lamar Jackson he is such a talented quarterback,

(04:05):
but they have not been able to get to the
Super Bowl with Lamar Jackson. And we saw it firsthand
this season that you don't need to be a perfect,
very defensive team who is going to win championships.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
They've said it for centuries.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Defense wins championships, yes.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
And so now the Ravens not only have a complete
game wrecker on the field, they also have a locker
room guy in Max Crosby, who I've gotten to know
him well from covering their training camps and their games.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
He is a player that people love. He is a player.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Young guys are going to gravitate towards. He's a player
that Jesse Minter is going to be able to say, hey,
get this team in line in the locker room. Not
only is he incredibly successful five time pro bowler sixty
nine and a half sacks over the last seven seasons,
but now he is a guy that you can just
have confidence and he can help as this first year

(05:03):
head coach begins to take over in Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Right, And it's very interesting. I mean you look at
the alignment now and the identity of the Ravens, and
you've got Mintor a defensive mind. You've got Max Crosby
a defensive leader, right, And I mean obviously you surround
Lamar Jackson with elite talent, whether it's coaching or on
the defensive side of the ball, and you got to

(05:26):
wonder how this can affect the AFC landscape totally the
Ravens too.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
This is just so strange to me, and we have
to bring up to the Cowboys were deep in talks,
according to our NFL network insiders, and Adam Schefter of
ESPN reported as well. The Cowboys had offered a first
round pick and a second round pick, and of course
the Raiders decided we're going with the two first round picks.
But this is so shocking because the Ravens are very

(05:53):
much used to drafting and developing, right, Okay, that has
been their bread and butter. But now they see this
and you look at the AFC North. You have the
Browns that I mean, what are they doing? They're having
a three way competition at quarterback between Dylan Gabriel, Shador Sanders,
and Deshaun Watson.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
What's happening? Yes, Then you have.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
The Steelers who have a new head coach as well,
Mike McCarthy. I wouldn't say, you know, it's not like
this is his first go around. He's a very successful,
will be a Hall of Fame coach. But what's happening
at quarterback is Aaron Rodgers gonna let them know.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
I don't know Aaron right.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Then you have the Bengals, who Joe Burrow is great,
but they it just seems like something always happens with
the Bengals. Yep, Okay, they haven't lived up to their
expectations since they played the Rams in the Super Bowl
twenty twenty one season. So for Lamar Jackson in this
Ravens team, the time is now. The time is now
to win the AFC North, they missed the playoffs last year,

(06:54):
they get rid of John Harbough. Things needed to change
and this is a huge, huge splash smooth for Eric DaCosta,
their general manager, and Jesse Minter. And I'm just so
excited to say Max Crosby finally have an opportunity to
show what he can do. I mean so much. The
reason why we got here is because the Raiders kind

(07:16):
of shut him down and he wanted to play through
the injury at the end of last season and he
really didn't like the way that they handled that.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Well, and can you blame him? And also, I mean,
for the maniac of an athlete, a caliber of competitor
like Max Crosby, he deserves to be put in a
position where he can impact winning football. And this is
now the opportunity. And I think this is a name
you hear around league circles and everyone is what has

(07:47):
been rooting to see him in a position where he
can be playing, you know, beyond the regular season, and
I'm so excited to see what he does in Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Was just the latest news that happened this week, but
so much, so much had happened. Trent McDuffie expected to
go to the Rams. Of course, again, all of this
has happened, but not official until next week. With the
new league year, Trent McDuffie expected to go to the Rams.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Huge huge need.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
For the Rams.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
I mean, their lack of talent at the cornerback position
was a parent That's why they lost the Seahawks. They
need help at defense. Matthew Stafford's window is I mean,
who knows if this is his last season, it's definitely
I would say.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
No, the Rams are all in now is the moment
for the Rams tonally? You know, I wanted to ask
you though, what this signifies for Kansas City, Like, are
they doing a shadow rebuild right now?

Speaker 4 (08:46):
Well, think about it.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Kansas City also has two first round draft picks now
because they got the Rams first round draft pick and
they have their own first round draft pick.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Patrick Mahomes is dealing with an injury.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Travis Kelsey still has not said what he is going
to do, so they to me Kansas City because of
the injury that Patrick is dealing with, and we've seen
people come back from injuries very quickly. He's going I
will be shocked if he comes back, you know, week
one that right, no, no, isn't going to happen. So
they are ready when you look at what their season is.

(09:19):
I don't want to call this a down year because
who knows what can happen, but this is an opportunity
where they can reset and really figure out the future
and not They're not a team where let's throw all
our eggs into the basket because we need to win now.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
And and we have watched Kansas City retool their defense
about every five years under spags and it's like like they,
you know, just little moves like this and hit the
you know, kind of not a full reset, but reload
at different positions as you can, and like you said,
without the urgency of needing to be in a win

(09:51):
now mode.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Some other news, DJ Moore to the Bills. This is
awesome for Josh Allen. Joe Brady and DJ Moore were
together in Carolina. There's just such an interesting pathway between
Carolina Panthers players going to Buffalo Bills. I need to
get the final number because there's so many connections. It's
like when I used to cover the Carolina Panthers, they

(10:13):
would call the Bills Carolina of the North. Oh yeah,
because there was so much overlap of players and coaches
going to the Bills. This makes me excited for Josh
Allen seeing him lose to the Broncos.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
I was at that game heartbreaking.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Right.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
He's another guy that you can't not root for exactly.
You want good things.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Load him up, give him some weapons. And we were
talking about this before we started, you know, before the
show started that Dj Moore just his fit didn't necessarily
align with Chicago's timeline, right, and his like he makes
more sense in Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Well, Chicago had gotten you know, Colston Lovelin, a couple
other first round wide receivers, and DJ Moore's contract didn't
really make sense for them at this moment. They didn't
need him the way that Buffalo needs him. I think
it's great for Buffalo and Joe Brady in his first
season with the Bills to go out and get some
help for Josh Allen. And they'll continue to do that
hopefully here throughout the draft and when free agency begins.

(11:12):
Some other things before we move on that, I want
to get to. Steffon Diggs and Kyler Murray both released
very interesting Steffon Diggs, it felt like he had found
a home with New England. I remember that postgame interview
in Denver after they had won the AFC Championship, and
he just talked about coming back from injury and how
a lot of people counted him out and he felt

(11:33):
so confident and comfortable in New England and so a
little shocking. I don't think to everyone, I understand with
everything that's going on, but it just felt like maybe
they would.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
It was about make it work right. And then and
then the other name you mentioned, Kyler Murray. Now we
have another, you know, top five drafted quarterback who's going
to be playing on a VET minimum contract at his
next spot. Would you say he is the gem of
now this free agent class of qbs interesting and jem

(12:12):
might be a strong word, but I mean, do you
think that's the one. I don't know. I don't know
Minnesota take a flyer on him. Maybe.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
I think the thing is he's not going to be playing.
You know, it's not that he's not going to be
getting paid. Arizona is going to pay him all that money.
So for him, he kind of works out and for
whatever team picks him out, it's kind of like a
win win. It is very low risk Minnesota could be
interesting if they want to get him in there for
competition with JJ McCarthy, the other quarterback. And I know
we'll talk about this later in the show. Malik Willis,

(12:40):
I think has a lot of upside. He went in
for Jordan Love this past season and did well. Yeah,
but yeah, it just felt like Kyler Murray in Arizona's
time had come to an end, and I think this
marriage of this makes sense for both parties involved.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
I'm excited to see him have.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
Another opportunity unity though, because I mean, as we saw
it with Sam Darnold, sometimes the fit and the coaching
staff and the environment just gets to your head and
it's not what you need. And I'm not comparing them,
you know, talent wise or anything like that, but it
will be interesting.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Culture can can create champions and so yeah, I mean,
Sam Darnald has proven that the right system, the right surroundings,
and the right talent at different levels of the field
can actually, you know, propel you where nobody thought you'd
be able to go to begin with.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
There's going to be a lot of interesting things happening
over the next couple of days. I mean, Kenneth Walker
to the MVP of the Super Bowl. The Seattle running back.
The fact that he is a free agent is very interesting.
If I'm Seattle, You've got to find a way to
sign him.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
What's going on with AJ Brown? What's going to happen Philadelphia?

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Khalil Mack? Yeah, I mean he is another name. It'd
be really interesting to see him back in Chicago. They
need help at the pass rush position. Trey Hendrickson, he's
done in Cincinnati. There's so much that could happen. This
is like the best time of the year because everything
it's like a domino effect. I think a lot of
teams were waiting for the Max Crosby trade to happen.
Now that that's fallen, people can start from They're gonna

(14:15):
turn directions.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
So much happening.

Speaker 2 (14:18):

Welcome back to Fox Sports Saturday. We're just six weeks
away from the NBA playoffs.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Crazy football season, Just send it. No, it's there's like
a lot of kind of percolating stories right now that
makes everything just it feels like there's no downtime right because, oh,
we've got you know, the Winter Olympics just happened, The
World Baseball Classic is on our screens, and then you know,
as the NBA rams up towards the postseason, we get

(15:56):
a little gem like Jason Tatum returning ten months after
tearing his achilles to competitive basketball.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Okay, before we get into that, something just popped into
my mind that I want to ask you. Is this
the best time to be a sports fan? Or is
it in the fall when baseball comes back, or like
baseball postseason?

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Okay, it is very interesting because I have come to
love October for sports, and it largely has to do
with October Baseball, the start of the football, start of
the NBA. Yeah, I do love October. But then when
I think of the joy I get watching screens filled

(16:38):
with March madness upsets, and then knowing we're ten days
away from the NBA playoffs and we've got opening day,
it is a very like interesting you know, six months, Yeah,
you know, separated like equinox time. Right, So I don't
know what do you prefer?

Speaker 4 (16:57):
October? For sure? I'm a fall girl. My birthday is
in the far.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
I love a scorpio too.

Speaker 4 (17:02):
I'm a scorpio.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
I'm a scorpio.

Speaker 7 (17:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
November Yeah, yeah, me too. November what twentieth, I'm the seventh.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Oh my gosh, okay, we're unpacking, we are.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
I love the smell of the autumn air and the
sound of a tailgate in a parking lot, going to
a night of to me game, and then waking up
feeling a little tired.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
From that crazy night, that crazy.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
The PAC twelve after dark, whatever it was, and watching
the NFL on your couch.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
I mean, I preferably like to be watching the NFL
from the sideline, but second best is watching it from
your couch after recovering from an incredible college football Saturday.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
You know what, I really respect that. It's interesting because
career aside, I present as a summer girl.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
But interesting I do.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
I do love walking into Dodger Stadium as the sun
is setting, and in here in LA when it's still
eighty degrees and the air you can feel that pulse
of electricity.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Something about the smell right right exactly. Yeah, I'm a
fall girl. I'm with you in summer, but I like
to have a sweatshirt.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Yeah, okay, anyways, anyways.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
The Celtics got their starback last night.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Jason Tatum returned from a torn achilles making his debut
last night just ten months less than ten incredible after
suffering that injury last year in the playoffs against the Knicks.
He played twenty seven minutes against the MAVs. The Celtics
won one twenty to one hundred. He nearly had a
triple double in his return fifteen points, twelve boards, seven assists.
Did you see this coming?

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Right? I? Okay. I think we had been getting the
inclinations around the league that he was going to be returning,
and it felt like the date kept getting moved up.
You know, it started maybe April and now it's early March.
And so this anticipated return, especially when you look at
the Celtics, We're the number two team in the Eastern

(18:55):
Conference right now and what they've been able to do
with out their star, and then to know that Tatum
wanted to come back and play meaningful basketball, and if
this is a team that now can have a legitimate
run at an NBA championship, he's got to get that
ramp up going. And he looked uncomfortable to begin with

(19:17):
last night, and you can't blame him, right, he said
he felt a little bit of anxiety around it, and
the game did seem very quick. But I think, you know,
twenty seven minutes in that return, things started to come
a little clunky. But this is this is bad news
for the rest of the East and perhaps the league.

(19:38):
With what the Celtics can put together here.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
I'm just so impressed with these athletes, and we saw
Aaron Rodgers do it too, how quickly they can come
back from these serious injuries and achilles sterrets typically like
at least a year. So for him to come back,
I mean, he, like you said, he said he wanted
to play meaningful basketball. He had surgery the morning after
he tore his achilities. He was determined to get back

(20:03):
this season. It's interesting because I don't think a lot
of people expected the Celtics to be I didn't as
good as they've been this season without their star. Now
this brings in another point in a conversation and question
I have for you, the Jalen Brown of it all.
I mean, this guy is potentially in conversation for MVP.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Now.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
Jason Tatum is the star of the Celtics, Okay, but
Jalen Brown has been the star with Jason Tatum sidelined. Now,
how do they adjust. Jalen Brown had twenty four points
last night, so still making an impact with Jason Tatum
and he's going to have to, you know, still carry
a lot of the weight as Jason gets back into

(20:46):
basketball shape and that ramp up period. But how do
they kind of EUSt right, yeah, and like share that
star power.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
So here's the thing I think it in our discourse
with sports media headlines, et cetera, it's so natural to
do the cheap whose team is it? Whose team is
it going to be? That would be a really easy
default to address this situation with if these two hadn't
won an NBA title together already. The reality is is

(21:18):
that Jalen has been carrying. As Tatum returns to his
form and hopefully the player and the superstar he is,
He's going to make life easier for everyone on this team,
including Jalen. And Jalen's not going to be getting as
much defensive attention, and yes, maybe his you know, shot

(21:39):
volume won't look the same, but his ability to work
within the offense is going to be freed up because
now a lot of that attention, sorry to opposing defenses,
is going to have to be directed to Tatum.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
It's going to be interesting how they learn to adjust
together now that Jason Tatum is back on the court.
The Celtics second in the East four and a half
games behind the Pistons. Celtics have nineteen games left. When
you look at the East, you got the Knicks, the Calves,
the Raptors. They're all battling for position as well.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
I'm sorry you didn't mention we got we gotta talk
about Charlotte Hornets.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
Okay, I'm gonna let talk about them.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
I've chard Charlotte Sports for many years and I have learned,
and I apologize to anybody in North Carolina listening. I
have learned that fugi no North Carolina Sports will trick you.
They will get you to think that it's their moment.
It's they're telling you the catfish. Totally, okay, absolutely hundred percent.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
So I'm gonna let you talk. Okay, let me let
me just give you some numbers about these Charlotte Hornets. Okay, God, Hornets.
We're eleven and twenty two until the turn of the year.
Since January first, the Hornets have been on a twenty
one to nine run. They have the number one offense
in that time, their number five in total defense, number
one net rating. This is very comparable, but actually better

(23:08):
than what the Indiana Pacers pulled last year. At the
turn of the year, the Hornets are fun. They're they
don't give a frick like they are young. They're entertaining
as all get out. I I might be buying Charlotte
stock I know, I know you've been bying.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
I am just not you're not buying it. They're tenth
in the East. They I mean, I don't even think
they're gonna make the playoffs.

Speaker 7 (23:41):
I'm happy.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
I would love to see them in the I'm happy
for you buying into the Charlotte Hornets.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
I am. I'm not sure that anybody else is in
line with you.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
Oh no, no, no, there's there's a there's a strong
contingent totally. And are all those people from North Carolina? No, no,
there's a Hornet's island developing out here. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
Where do they reside?

Speaker 3 (24:03):
Listen? NBA Geekdom is where they resign?

Speaker 4 (24:06):
Okay, WHOA.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
On that note, we've got We've got a lot more
to talk about.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
We got a lot of people to talk to. Phoebe Scheckter,
a good friend.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Of mine NBA analysts, is going to join us when
we come back. I need to just like sit in
silence after your Hornets takes.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
And I'm in on the one a little bit canet like.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
Yeah, I don't know, but we're not gonna talk about
the Hornets when we come back, or maybe we.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Will, I don't know. Stick around to find out.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
Is this Fox Sports Saturday.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
Ridget and Nikki.

Speaker 8 (24:46):
We've got some fresh NFL free agency news for you guys.
The Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis, who's just agreed
to a three year, seventy eight million dollar contract extension
through twenty twenty nine with sixty five million guaranteed. Buffalo
Bill's sent Connor McGovern's agreed to a new four year,
fifty two million dollars deal with thirty two million guaranteed.
The Dallas Cowboys today placed a five point seven million

(25:08):
dollars second round tender on three time Pro Bowl placekicker
Brandon Aubrey. In the NBA, Boston Celtics, center Nikola Vucevich
will be out at least three to four weeks after
having surgery today to repair a broken right ring finger.
In college basketball, right now, fourth ranked Yukon at twenty
seven and three trails on the road at Marquette sixty

(25:31):
one to forty nine, with five minutes and twenty one
seconds remaining in the second half. Finally, Bridget and Nikki,
A comprehensive investigation has been launched to determine the identity
of Bridget's awesome chemistry teacher who would wheel in a
TV during the opening round of March Madness. Indeed, where
was that teacher when the rest of us were in school?

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Back to you, guys, I'm still trying to wrap my
head around what.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
His name was at well, chemistry, really, I was a
chemistry girl. You I bet you were. I have a
math and science type brain.

Speaker 4 (26:07):
Yeah, what about you?

Speaker 3 (26:09):
Oh no, no, no, I'm all about the arts and
the languages, but no, chemistry was difficult for me. And
I am so glad that I don't have to apply
any of that knowledge to what we do on a
day to day basis here in the lovely land of

(26:29):
speaking sports. But you know what, I might have done
better at chemistry if I had a teacher who wheeled
in a TV and put on March Madness games.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Totally, because I think maybe statistics too, Oh not me.

Speaker 9 (26:42):
No.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
If you're watching the games and it's like, what's the
probability that Duke goes on to win? They're down by five,
there's four minutes to go, they still have three time outs.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
What's the probability, Nikki, that they win this thing?

Speaker 3 (26:54):
No, I want to talk about. I want to talk
about the mascot and the fan who has been going
to every home game since nineteen sixty five. That's what
I want to talk about. Okay, probability, the numbers, the
numbers are aren't numbering for me.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
That's why we need multiple different tis exactly.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
People together we create one. We are one.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
It's a great balance of power real quick.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
I want to get back to the NFL because we
didn't really get to talk about the teams with the
biggest need. Do you have a team that you feel
like really needs to make a splash here in free agency?

Speaker 3 (27:31):
Ooh okay. When I think when I look at the
landscape and what can be addressed, I'm looking at the
teams that were so close. I mean you mentioned the
Rams bringing in, you know, addressing their need at corner,
which I thought was seeing them up close and personal
was great. I do think the Chargers, by default of

(27:54):
just bringing in Mike m McDaniel as an offensive coordinator,
I think that is like a need that can hopefully
create more opportunities. Oh. I think the Chargers offensive line
depth could could be bolstered a little bit. What about you?

(28:15):
What have you seen? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (28:16):
I had the Chargers as my team that needs to
make a splash.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
They have the number one they're the number one team
in the NFL with the in terms of how much
cap space they have, they have ninety nine million dollars
of cap space.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
To me, that says, go out there.

Speaker 3 (28:29):
And buy money.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
You have an offensive line that has complete turnover on
the interior. Your center, your center retired, Your two guards
are free agents. One of them you released, the other
one is a free agent. So you have to completely
change your dynamic of offensive line, especially to protect Justin Herbert.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
In and it was so ugly last year at AFC.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
Wes that is wide open. Bo Nix is coming back
from injury. You have Patrick Mhastriholmes dealing with injury. Then
you have the Raiders a complete turn oil. To me,
the Chargers need to look at this and say this
is our year. It's now or never. Let's go spend
the cash. More NFL news coming up. And we have
our very good friend Phoebe Scheckter on the line. Phoebe

(29:17):
is I mean her like resume is incredible.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
Oh read it to me, okayreat tuck dirty to me.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Phoebe Scheckter, an NFL analyst, former Bills coach Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 4 (29:28):
That is I'm.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Sorry, NFL Global Flag Ambassador, Phoebe, thank you so much
for joining us. I want to start with the Bills.
Josh Allen got a good friend DJ Moore this week.
I know you spent a lot of time around that
Buffalo team. How do you think DJ Moore is going
to fit into what they do there in Buffalo?

Speaker 9 (29:49):
Well, thank you so much for having me, and honestly,
it seems like a perfect fit. I mean one of
the things that we've been talking about for years is
that Josh Allen needs somebody to throw the ball to
and having that number one receiver, and they try to
try with guys who've kind of been at the end
of their career and they've not been able to really
find that right match. I mean, if you even look

(30:10):
at this past season, the top receivers guys like Khalil
Shakir and he can do a great job and get
those yards after catch. But d J Moore coming to Buffalo,
first off, culturally, he's a great fit. We had a
pleasure of speaking to him during Super Bowl Week, and
really he's just going to be right in the mix
and you can see him Josh Allen getting on so well,

(30:30):
a great veteran as well as football IQ and then
you know, we all get to see what he does
on the field and what he has done for years
with Beart, So this is going to be an exciting
move for him.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
Hi phoebe so so thrilled to be picking your brain here.
But when you look at this past NFL season and
the evolution we saw with offenses, how do you anticipate
that affecting what teams are seeking out here in free
agency and how they will be approaching the draft.

Speaker 9 (31:01):
You know, it's so interesting because you look over the
past couple of years and it's you know, last year
there was a lot of heavy personnel. A lot of
people look to the Rams and Sean McVay and that
offensive kind of mastermind. You start adding in this kind
of jumbo o line or those tight ends, those extra
tight end.

Speaker 7 (31:17):
Bodies, and I think people.

Speaker 9 (31:18):
Are always going to be looking for who is that
perfect fit tight end for system because when you get
that kind of more blocking and receiving tight end that
opens up your playbook so much more. And then, of course,
I mean the running backs, we've already seen some big
moves so far as this well, this off season. I
can't even believe it's been much of an off season,

(31:39):
but we've already seen so much happening, you know, with
the Texans move with you know, Daved Montgomery. I mean,
all of that is just pretty incredible right now. And
I think that's going to set its own going forwards
for these other teams. And then you know the other
side of it, and we saw it with the Seahawks
em and Worry. He's the kind of body type you want.
Who's the guy that's going to be able to play

(32:00):
up on the line of scrivia yet then can drop
back into past and run with the best of them.
That kind of defensive player is such a star.

Speaker 4 (32:11):
I want to stay on the defense here.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
I know you saw it last night, blockbuster trade Max
Crosby to the Ravens. The Raiders get first round draft
pick this year and next year from the Ravens. When
you look at this, were you shocked because the Ravens
were so used to them being a draft and developed
type team, or is this a direct relation in teams

(32:32):
watching what the Seahawks did and how they won a
Super Bowl with their defense and thinking they need to
be all in on defense.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
What's your take on that whole situation?

Speaker 9 (32:41):
You know, I think there's definitely an element of all
these teams that were successful this year. I mean, you
look at the Texans how far they got. Of course,
the Seahawks. I mean a lot of these teams were
in the mix because of their defenses more than any
other year. You can you could almost have an off
year with your quarterback, and then you see what this
defense does. They steal the deal and ultimately I think,

(33:02):
I mean, gosh, the's ignored this stacks and that is
a pretty phenomenal thing. I think the more shocking bit
was Max Crosby actually leaving the Raiders. Been so much
talk around him not ever leaving the Raiders and then
going to the Ravens. Who you know, it's a really
tricky situation with him. Right, We've talked about Lamar. You

(33:22):
bring in a new head coach, you've got to have
to have a whole new mentality, and one who of
course is now defensively led. And so I think if
you've got a defensive head coach. You's come in and
he's saying, I know that this is going to be
the key to our success. We've got all the other
pieces around, and that's what you think he's missing. I mean,
I would definitely buckle up when it comes in because

(33:44):
they lost Matavik early in the season and they never
really got their momentum back. Now, of course they're going
to have to do a lot of you know, great
moves for the draft and then the more on free agency,
but this is a huge statement piece for sure.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
And when you look at this free agency picture and
the quarterback carousel and names like you know, Malik Willis,
even maybe Mac Jones, like Kyler Murray, what do you
see as potential landing spots and potential fits for the
names that are are being circulated right now.

Speaker 9 (34:23):
Well, I think it was so interesting with everything going
on with Kyler Murray and the Cardinals have been a
team that have been trying to find that missing piece,
is that someone like a Malik Willis. And you know,
to your point earlier, I think so many people now
are looking at the Seahawks and they're like, Okay, who's
going to be the next dam Donald out there who's
been a guy that we could revive or we could

(34:45):
kind of give that second chance. He's had all the
talent we saw coming out of college. We've seen it
as kind of you know, whether they've been had any
reps in the NFL. But you know, a guy like
Mac Jones, I think he's been kind of the conversation
of could he be that next dam Donald? Be someone
that's going to make a big impact for a team.
But you rights, not by than anyone. It's about the coaching,

(35:06):
It's about the system. What is your offensive line? We've
seen too many times great quarterbacks going into a four situation,
and so I think it just makes this whole time
to soally exciting in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
Phoebe Schuckter a pleasure to have you with you.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
You're incredible on the radio this Saturday, NFL analyst, former
Bills coach, Flag football ambassador. You guys should check out

Speaker 4 (36:04):
To call would you rat?

Speaker 1 (36:06):
I love?

Speaker 3 (36:07):
Would you rather?

Speaker 2 (36:08):
Okay, so this is how it's gonna go. I'm gonna
read you one, gonna we're gonna make this snappy. I'm
gonna read you one, you answer, you.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
Read me one. I am. Okay.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
We're just gonna go back and forth a little here,
and I hope you listeners will.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
Join us and I don't know, tweet at us, message us.

Speaker 4 (36:25):
Your would you rather? Because these are hard.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
I was playing with my husband as I was coming
up with them, and they're they're good. I'm not trying
to toot my horn, but let me just get right into.

Speaker 3 (36:34):
A little basic. But I think they're still no grain twisters.
It's great, Okay.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
Would you rather win one championship as the star player
or win five championships as a role player?

Speaker 3 (36:46):
Five as a role player whoa.

Speaker 4 (36:49):
I'd say one is a star.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Okay, okay, I want to be on top all but like, yeah,
you you want to Okay, Okay, it's like big fish
in a little on the piction, a big pun. Hmmm. Well, anyways,
I said we're gonna go. Would you rather be a
hockey goalie or come out of the bullpen?

Speaker 2 (37:10):
Come out of the bullpen one hundred percent? Like if
you're saying I can close out the game.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
But like if if you can't close out the game.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
But I can, I'm coming out of the goal bullpen.
I'm a professional Major League baseball player. You don't I
have full confidence that I'm closing this, Okay.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
Okay, not gonna. I'm not gonna. I'm not.

Speaker 7 (37:28):
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
I'm not good. We're not We're not.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
Okay, Okay, all right, here's a good one, one of
my favorites. Would you rather hit a walk off home
run in Game seven of the World Series or hit
a buzzer beater in Game seven of the NBA Finals.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
This was literally mine for you, except it was a
Hail Mary touchdown in the Super Bowl. Oh okay, well
you go oga, okay, okay, okay, game Kevin.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
World Series walkoff or walk off home run? Totally?

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Yeah, totally okay, because I was like, the buzzer beater
could be a layup and then it's like one and
we saw the I have watched that Freddie Freeman walk
off Grand Slam like so many times and that wasn't
even Game seven. I mean, that's just that that hangs
in the air forever. So what was yours? Hailmary? What
would you rather hit a walk off home run in
Game seven of the World Series or throw a hail

(38:15):
Mary touchdown to win the Super Bowl? Super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (38:20):
I think the super Bowl that would be incredible, harder
to win. It's one game, yeah, game seven?

Speaker 3 (38:24):
You have seven? Yeah, so in that scenario, we picked
the touchdown. Yeah, I'm with you.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
Next, would you uh, this one's too easy, I'm not
gonna do it, Okay, okay. Would you rather run a
four to three forty yard dash or throw a ninety
five mile per hour fastball?

Speaker 3 (38:43):
Oh? I think I'd rather run a four to three
forty Yeah, totally okay. Here, wait, give me some more
of yours because I think I think minor minor to
uh too basic from moving on here?

Speaker 2 (38:56):
Okay, would you rather be the number one pick in
the NFL draft or the number one pick in the
NBA draft.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
I would rather be the number one pick in the
NFL draft.

Speaker 4 (39:08):
What about you, NBA? They make so much more money
now that long term.

Speaker 6 (39:12):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
I wasn't even thinking about that. I was just thinking
about if it feels to me like number one picks
in the NFL tend to have Like I feel like
I've seen more flame outs from number one picks in
the NBA. But that could also just be my my
brain bias.

Speaker 4 (39:26):
Yeah. No, I was just thinking about it so much
harder to be a lottery pick in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
Oh, totally pick to make an NBA roster theoretically is
harder than Okay.

Speaker 2 (39:38):
Would you rather your team win the Super Bowl this
year but miss the playoffs for the next ten years,
or make the playoffs every year for ten years but
never win it all?

Speaker 3 (39:49):
I think the Super Bowl this year? Right? What do
you are we talking as a fan? Yeah? I didn't
know if you meant like as a theat player.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
Oh oh oh okay, I.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
Was like, what what else?

Speaker 4 (40:03):
Is one of the other options.

Speaker 3 (40:04):
A player on the team but then also making the
playoffs would be.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
Having Super Bowl you gotta yeah, like, come on, so yeah,
you're right?

Speaker 2 (40:13):
Super Bowl so hard to make. Okay, real quick, we
have ten seconds free to answer this. Could you rather
play the Masters on Sunday or play in the Super Bowl?

Speaker 3 (40:21):
Masters on Sunday?

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Whoa, I'm gonna say super Bowl? Okay, this was really fun.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
This was great. You did great ones, but I guess
also Masters on Sunday you could play the days before?

Speaker 4 (40:31):
True?

Speaker 2 (40:31):
All right, We'll be back with more Fox Sports Radio
after this.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
What is up? Party people? Happy Saturday? You know what?
I'm nicki k joined by the one and only Bridget Condon.
And how about that? We've got spring Forward right around
the corner.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
I am so excited to finally have the sun out longer,
the days longer.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
This is the best time of the year.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
I don't even mind that we're gonna get rid of
an hour of sleep.

Speaker 3 (41:03):
No, no, no, I'm all for the sacrifice of springing forward,
especially when you think about what this time means with
the sports calendar. Right, we have NFL free agency upon us.
I love the news, the movement coming off another Super Bowl,
and then we have March Madness on the brink of

(41:25):
filling up all of our TV screens. We have the
World Baseball Classic, we have Spring Training, we have the
NBA barreling towards the start of the postseason. It doesn't
get much better than this. We were debating earlier in
the show whether it's this time of year or October,
you know where all the sports are happening, and it's

(41:45):
all the things what we prefer. And you you're a fallgirl.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
I'm a Fall girl. I my brain just remembered my
chemistry teacher's name, and it's mister Hardy.

Speaker 4 (41:56):
Mister Hardy.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
Okay, let's do a little callback to mister Hardy. Ye,
shout out to mister Hardy, because he so famously would
roll in. Was he your your ap chem teacher? Chem teacher? No?

Speaker 4 (42:08):
No, this is middle school?

Speaker 3 (42:09):
Oh middle school?

Speaker 4 (42:09):
Yeah, I'm talking seventh girl.

Speaker 3 (42:10):
Okay, seventh grade would roll in the TV.

Speaker 4 (42:13):
Yeah, big Duke fan, big du big Duke fan.

Speaker 3 (42:16):
He had.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
He looked like a chemistry teacher, tall, skinny, glass loss, yes,
blonde hair that kind.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
Of just flipped over his forehead, and you know the
kind that I'm talking about. And man bang would wear Duke.

Speaker 2 (42:28):
He would get so mad and I'm like, what I
didn't really understand it. Again, I'm in seventh grade. Yeah,
but now I totally understand it, and having covered Duke
in Carolina, totally understands it.

Speaker 3 (42:40):
So it feels like that's a little bit of Duke
propaganda being forced on your brain at a very young age. Bridget,
did you have to go to therapy for that?

Speaker 7 (42:48):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (42:48):
Are you not a Duke girl?

Speaker 8 (42:50):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (42:50):
I wanted to go to Duke so badly I got waitlisted.
So now you know, you know it's interesting. Okay.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
So I worked in the triangle, which is North Carolina, Raleigh, Durham,
Chapel Hill for four years and I covered Duke, Carolina
and C State.

Speaker 4 (43:05):
I actually went to post grad at Carolina, which I
kind of forget.

Speaker 3 (43:09):
So you're like, oh, that chapter of my life.

Speaker 2 (43:11):
No, actually, because I studied there. Well, I was working there,
so it was incredible. It was like online at night,
that kind of thing. But for some reason, there's always
a pull towards Duke for me. And I'm like, Bridget,
you paid to go to Carolina. Why aren't you rooting
for Carolina. I don't know what it is. There's just
something Coach k I was there. Coach k Zion Williamson

(43:32):
when his shoe broke, Remember that, yep, epic moment. It's
just something about sitting courtside at Cameron for a basketball
game that when.

Speaker 4 (43:41):
You do it, does that talk your worst experience? How
can you not love that?

Speaker 3 (43:46):
And well, it's so funny because I remember in high school,
I think was at the peak of Duke's powers, and
from a Santa Barbara, California person back of looking for
an allegiance to a collegiate program, I was like, Oh
my gosh, I guess I'll be a Duke fan. I
want to go to Duke. Didn't go to Duke. I

(44:07):
went to UCLA. So now I'm very much tied into
the Ucla magic of March and I'm I'm a little bit.
I guess I'll roll my eyes at the arrogance of
Duke fans, but I get it. At the same time
they put in a lot of efforts.

Speaker 2 (44:26):
I know people think it's arrogance, the kind of try hard,
no no, no, like the way that you'd be at
a Duke game and all of a sudden, so like
the media row for anybody who's not familiar with how
media works at Duke, because a lot of times media
seating isn't great. No, especially Yes, a lot of these
basketball arenas have the media super high, like where hockey

(44:48):
is played so like at the top, top top, But
Duke still has their media court side and it's right
in front of the student section. It is so epic.
But anyways, one game, I got this piece of paper.
It came over like my shoulder and I was like,
what is this. It was a cheat sheet for all
the chance and like, it's not just like number seven
is bad. It would they research the opposing team, like

(45:12):
their families, their you know what happened in second grade
that made them the way they are. They put so
much detail into these chants.

Speaker 3 (45:20):
That I mean, it's impressive.

Speaker 2 (45:23):
The way that they camp out for these tickets and say,
and how strict the rules are that you have to
have one person staying in the tent twenty four to seven.
I mean, you turning off the radio right now, but
you really do it is impressive.

Speaker 3 (45:40):
I do think also knowing you and knowing that you
are from the East Coast with Boston allegiances, I think
the diehard Boston sports fan in you, I.

Speaker 4 (45:48):
Get game reckon, I get the game totally. I get it.
I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (45:52):
Yeah, that's sometimes something we miss out here in LA
because it's a very interesting sports town. People love the Lakers,
people of the Dodgers, but people also in the same
room have no idea what's going on because it's such
a Hollywood type place where you're talking about premieres and
movies and concerts.

Speaker 4 (46:10):
It's just such a weird place.

Speaker 3 (46:12):
And let's be real, like if the Lakers are having
a down year, you're like, Okay, I'll go to the beach,
you know, like it's.

Speaker 2 (46:20):
Oh God, I guess I gotta go to the beach
this weekend instead of the Lakers game.

Speaker 3 (46:23):
I always think it's so funny. There will be like
a Lakers playoff game will be going on, and you'll
go down to the beach, Manhattan Beach, and you'll see
dudes wearing Kobe jerseys playing beach volleyball but not watching.

Speaker 4 (46:37):
Maybe they have their phones.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
I don't know. Now, Yeah, it's weird. It's just a
weird It's a weird town. It is it is. But
you know what all that being said about this time
of year and how magical it is in sports. I
want to talk about what the concept of springing forward,
and as we look at what's going on with the
National Football League at this moment, and as teams are

(47:00):
addressing their needs and how they can improve for the
upcoming season, Let's play a little game about what teams
you look at for the upcoming year and you think
they're going to spring forward, you think they're going to
take a significant step and maybe alter the landscape of

(47:20):
the competitive push towards the postseason.

Speaker 2 (47:23):
All Right, to me, it's got to be the Buffalo Bills.
It's got to be the Bills. When you look at
the AFC East. The Dolphins are about to release to
a Tungo vii loa. The Jets, they got a lot
of work to do. The Patriots, Drake May Mike Rabel
had an incredible year, made it to the super Bowl
their first year together. I don't see them going back.

(47:46):
I think that their schedule is going to be much
harder this season. I think there's going to be hiccups.
I think the Bills are going to do a lot
to help Josh Allen. You get rid of Sean McDermott,
which was a shock to everybody. He's a great coach.
If you're getting rid of him, you better be at
the Super Bowl. You better have done that because you
believe that somebody else is taking this team to the

(48:07):
Super Bowl. They just traded for DJ Moore. Conversations for
years around Buffalo has been the same, Josh Allen is elite,
but the offense needs a true number one weapon.

Speaker 4 (48:18):
Well, now they have it.

Speaker 2 (48:20):
Moore has been one of the best players, one of
the most consistent, i'll say receivers in football. He was
great with Carolina, he was great with the Bears, multiple
one hundred yard seasons, true vertical threat. You mirror that
with James Cook. They're running back. I think this offense
is going to look a lot better this season, and
it's only the beginning of what they can do in

(48:40):
free agency and of course with the NFL Draft under
their new head coach.

Speaker 3 (48:44):
Are you calling your shot? Are you saying Bill's Super
Bowl sixty one champs. I'm not saying champs. I'm saying
super Bowl. Okay, Okay.

Speaker 2 (48:51):
I still think the Seahawks or Rams, You're right, might
be the champs.

Speaker 3 (48:55):
I love that. I love that. My my spring forward team,
I'm I'm going a little bit different of an angle,
not not in terms of getting to the Super Bowl,
but a team that's about to have a major glow up,
a franchise that needs it. Wait, the New York Giants.
I say the Harbaugh aura combined with Jackson dark camp

(49:16):
scatter me. I love every bit of you know, energy
and like buzz that we're getting around the Giants right now.
And I want to see them cause some havoc. I
want to see them make some waves. And I'm excited
to see how Harbaugh sets a new tone and you
know the type of coach he is, and maybe it

(49:38):
is kind of one of those situations that, yes, his
time in Baltimore ran out, and you put them in
a new environment with a franchise like the Giants, and
I think they're going to make some waves and the
Giants are going to be fun football.

Speaker 4 (49:52):
I that is the team that I kind of forgot about.

Speaker 2 (49:54):
They're completely honest, but I agree with you, it's going
to be really interesting. I was actually interviewing Eli Manning
super Bowl week and.

Speaker 3 (50:02):
I was sharing, Oh my god, I was there. You
do you remember him. I was just that fireside chat.

Speaker 2 (50:07):
Do you remember him talking about how John Harbaugh called
him and was like, hey man, I really want this
Giant's job, like tell me about it, which to me
is really interesting because John Harbaugh could have gone pretty
much anywhere he wanted. He has an incredible resume. He's
another coach that very shocking that he's no. I get it.
I get it from both sides. It was time to

(50:28):
move on. But like it was Dermot like they are
both very good coaches. It's not like they I don't
know what, oh and whatever. So for him to have
wanted that giant's job, I think there's a lot of positivity,
good energy going into that building. And Jackson Dart is
a star. He is a star. Did you just see
the TikTok he made with his siblings?

Speaker 3 (50:50):
I was like, I get this man a holiday. I well,
and I was talking about this when we were talking
about like couple star athlete couples. I am so into
whatever him and Marissa Ayres are putting out there, like
there their aura. I'm for the quarterback being a personality,
but also.

Speaker 4 (51:08):
Like dating the actor. I think Madison Beer, she's.

Speaker 3 (51:10):
Singer Justin Herbert posted on his Instagram. I was like,
is this you hello? You have emotion?

Speaker 2 (51:16):
Does somebody have Justin Herbert like phone? If you're okay? No, seriously,
but I love it. I will say Justin Herbert has
been a different person to deal with since dating Madison,
and you know what, I'm here for it.

Speaker 3 (51:31):
Me too, Like give give him a little bit of personality,
a little spice. And for anyone who did miss Justin
Herbert's story, it was basically a love letter to Madison
Beer saying you're my favorite person and you've changed my life.

Speaker 4 (51:45):
Birthday, birthday, baby?

Speaker 3 (51:47):
What does a girl got to do? But no, I'm
I'm really interested to see what's going on in New
York and listen, there is so much to unpack with
the NFL and Bridge and I'm so happy to be writing,
you know, passenger seat with you to break it all down.
But we are going to get into that and so
much more. We talked about the NBA Eastern Conference earlier.

(52:09):
We got a break down the West right after this.
Oh yeah, welcome back to Fox Sports Saturday. I'm Nikki
k joined by Bridget Condon. Bridget, you're training for a
half marathon. What type of music do you listen to?

Speaker 4 (52:20):
Oh my god?

Speaker 2 (52:21):
And your run it needs to be incredibly upbeat, like
I'm not an ed m house girl, but on training runs.

Speaker 4 (52:27):
I need it to be. This song is killer, so
shout out to back there.

Speaker 3 (52:31):
I was like, this is a this could be a
running song for sit but.

Speaker 2 (52:34):
I needed to be way faster, like I need to
be feeling like I don't know, I'm gonna explode, you
know from my heart now explosion. Yeah. The other song
that we heard in break one shining Shining Moment.

Speaker 4 (52:48):
Are you familiar?

Speaker 3 (52:51):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (52:51):
Now, this is a thing. I thought everybody knew one
Shining Moment.

Speaker 3 (52:55):
And it's significant who doesn't.

Speaker 2 (52:57):
About two years ago, I was talking about it with
my husband and he's like, what is that.

Speaker 4 (53:02):
I'm like, what are you?

Speaker 3 (53:04):
And here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (53:04):
I don't know if it's because we're reporters.

Speaker 2 (53:07):
So I always keep a game on to listen to
the postgame interview.

Speaker 3 (53:12):
Okay, but one shining moment.

Speaker 2 (53:14):
You do have to make it through a commercial break
to see one shining moment. Now, he said he would
always turn off the game when it ended, which I'm.

Speaker 4 (53:22):
Like, who are you?

Speaker 2 (53:23):
And so he was very shocked when I told him
about one Shining Moment.

Speaker 3 (53:27):
I guess I've become right that, like I've become acquainted
with it because of the tradition and rituals of sports
that you come to learn, like, you know, just by
being around and having conversations with people. Film, having a bracket, yeah,
having a break. Like what I was like, was that
grounds for Like, okay, sweetheart.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
We definitely had a conversation. I was like, Okay, so
this is an issue. You're not detail oriented, So we're
going to sit down and watch the past thirty one
shining moments.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
I think that is proper edification on your part.

Speaker 7 (54:02):
Ye.

Speaker 2 (54:03):
Some would call it therapy. I would call it telling
him he was wrong. Yeah, but that is the best
part of March Madness in my opinion.

Speaker 3 (54:11):
Well, and the song is so fine. I okay, so
I see you on one trending moment being the best part,
the best way to wrap it up. Okay, yes, yes,
because I was going to say, we also did mention
earlier that the best part is the first two rounds. Yeah, yes, down,
down go the number one seeds, down go the big
the big Golias. I I just I can't wait, you know,

(54:33):
also going on right now the National Basketball Association, we
I mean Jason Tatum making his return to the court
last night, just insane. Kobe energy from him all around.
But when we look at the Western Conference right now,
you know, I've been workshopping something in my head that
I want to run by you. I think this is
this is good, this is good girl discourse regarding where

(54:57):
the NBA is it currently in how it's evolved, because
I think when you have the guys like Lebron James,
Draymond Green, Steph Curry, you know they're the veterans on
their way out, there was a time where things got
a little too buddy buddy banana boat lore. Right. I
think rivalries are back. I think we're getting to a

(55:18):
state of chippiness and true feuding led by the likes
of Anthony Edwards, where guys don't like each other on
opposing teams now and I love it. I'm here for that,
the true vitriol that brings in the competitiveness. Have you
noticed that or am I reading too much into the
tea leaves?

Speaker 7 (55:38):
No?

Speaker 4 (55:38):
I would say, I don't know that it ever went away.

Speaker 2 (55:41):
Like the Draymond Green of it all, I feel like
he's always had an issue with somebody.

Speaker 3 (55:45):
But then you see the buddy buddies, like the guy's vacation.
This is the thing I think.

Speaker 2 (55:52):
A lot of guys have learned to leave it on
the court right, right, And so then in the postseason
you do see them spending time with each other and
because of you know, the All Star Games and AAU
coming up, and like, I think there's so many people
are more connected because of social media and you're you're
playing in these tournaments together, you're playing pick up together
or whatever.

Speaker 4 (56:13):
But I do, I do agree, hear what you're saying,
and I love it. I live for it.

Speaker 2 (56:18):
I always say sports is the best reality show on
tai I love when there's drama. I think it makes
the average fan much more interested in watching the games
when there's a little spiciness to it.

Speaker 3 (56:32):
Like the fight that went down with Lou Dort and
Nikola Jokic. Did you see the memes of Jokic's face,
the credit murray in his eyes? So then I sat
there and I go, are the Oklahoma cities under Now?
Some might call them villains, I'm calling them the Katie
Heron of the NBA Mean Girls universe.

Speaker 2 (56:54):
Hmm.

Speaker 3 (56:55):
Interesting, the darlings that were so rutable and lovable and
then all of a sudden they get a little bit
of ego and bounce in their steps. They win an
NBA title, and now they might be just turning into
the mean girl that they were trying to take down

(57:16):
in the first place.

Speaker 2 (57:17):
And you know what I say to that, Yes, I'm
here for it. Look, you deserve to be that. They
are the team that everybody is chasing in the West.
They've spent much of the season at the top of
the conference. SGA m VP caliber kind of guy continues
to leave one of the most balanced.

Speaker 4 (57:36):
Teams in the league. And it's like talk that talk.

Speaker 3 (57:39):
Talk that talk, and the way Sam Presty has built
that franchise, you know, with just one billion picks in
his arsenal. And then I truly do enjoy watching them
play for each other. Last year it was so much fun,
the joy they had, the youth they have, It's been refreshing.

(58:00):
And it's also really fun to look at the rest
of the West. Oh, hello San Antonio, Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves.
I think the competitive balance in the league right now
is at an all time high. Not to mention this
has been the NBA has been dominated by the Western

(58:20):
Conference in terms of I think throughout the regular season
it's like the West is just best, and yeah, you
have a couple of Eastern Conference champions time and time
here and there. But the parody now, I think the balance,
the split balance. At this point in the league, it's
like the West is only a couple of games up
on the East in terms of they're like head to

(58:43):
head matchups right now. So I think right now the
league is so fun. It's great. When you look at
the Western Conference, what teams are you eyeing as potential
threats to upend Oklahoma City.

Speaker 2 (58:55):
I think one of the most surprising teams is the Spurs.
I don't think anyone expected them to be this in
second place. But when I look at the standings, okay,
you have the Thunder and the Spurs one and two,
but then you have the Timberwolves, the Rockets, the Nuggets,
the Lakers, all very very close. The Timberwolves have won

(59:18):
forty games, Rockets, Nuggets thirty nine, Lakers thirty eight. So
I think what's so interesting is how close the middle
of the West is right now and how different things
can happen through the final six weeks. A hot streak
could completely reshape the playoff pitcher before it begins. So
I think that's what's so fun when I look at

(59:38):
the West and how much room for change there is
over these next month and a half.

Speaker 3 (59:43):
Right, nothing's guaranteed in Minnesota, definitely. They've got a critical
two week stretch ahead. You know, they can secure a
top four seed in the West, and there are six
out of seven games are against teams with winning records
coming up, and that's something that I look at. I
kind of feel like with all the talk and focus
being on, you know, the surprise of San Antonio, you know,

(01:00:05):
can okay see you go back to back. I'm I
think Minnesota's got something special and I think they have
an edge. And I think Anthony Edwards has dedicated this
season to fixing like things that he was felt deficient
in prior to So if he's continuing to elevate his game,
give me more ant, man, I just I love it.

Speaker 4 (01:00:27):
And then we're not.

Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
You know, that's not even mentioning Houston and Denver. I
do like the added layers of like you know, the
Nuggets thunder budding rivalry. The Nuggets and Lakers have chippiness too.
It's great.

Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
I want to ask you, because you cover the Lakers
all the time, like, is are they in a position
where they can go on a streak here and you
believe in them, like seeing them inside and out, or
is it kind of like the Lebron's just going through
the motions. He's gonna be on the Cavs next season
and we're moving on.

Speaker 3 (01:00:58):
I I think anytime you have the names Lebron, James, Luka, Doncic,
and you know, full stop, anytimes you have time you
have the names Lebron, James, Luka, Doncic on a roster,
you can't take them for you can't under underestimate them.
The Lakers can be a threat. Austin Reeves needs to

(01:01:19):
get back to his form before his injury. He was
on a tear when Lebron was out at the beginning
of this season. And what JJ Reddick will tell you
is like right now they're all still figuring out how
to play together, which is crazy to say in March,
but that's been.

Speaker 4 (01:01:34):
Great, Like there's six weeks left of the season. What
have you been doing.

Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
Also, And that's been it's been the name of the
game with injuries and now DeAndre eight and is you know,
needing to have some extra fire in his game. There's
a case that Jackson Hayes should be their starting center,
and it just feels like there's pieces that constantly need
to be reshuffled. But when you've got the talent and
the star power that is the Los Angeles Lakers, you

(01:02:00):
can never count them out. That being said, I am
very interested to see how they continue to surround Luka
Doncic with more pieces suited to his game and what
Lebron does this upcoming offseason. It's there is already focus
on what the Lakers are going to do this upcoming
off season. But that being said, we've got updates to
get to and I'm going to turn it on over

(01:02:22):
to Isaac mullincot. Thank you, Nikki and Bridge.

Speaker 8 (01:02:25):
We have a big upset in college basketball that went
down earlier this hour, unranked Marquette knocking off fourth ranked
Yukon sixty eight to sixty two, the result clinching the
Big East regular season title for Saint John's. The Yukon
head coach Dan Hurley was ejected in the final seconds
for bumping an official while arguing a non called. David Borges,

(01:02:47):
who covers the Yukon for CT Insider, reports that Hurley
just told reporters and I quote, I don't think I
bumped the ref unquote. We'll soon find out if the
Big East thinks he bumped the ref anyway, A trade
just went down to the National Football League, the Indianapolis
Colts trading linebacker Zaire Franklin to the Green Bay Packers

(01:03:09):
that exchange for defensive tackle Colby Wooden. Philadelphia Eagles defensive
tackle Jordan Davis earlier today agreed to a three year,
seventy eight million dollar extension through twenty twenty nine with
sixty five million guaranteed. Buffalo Bills ceder Connor McGovern agreed
to a new four year, fifty two million dollar deal
with thirty two million guaranteed. The Dallas Cowboys today placed

(01:03:31):
a five point seven million dollars second round tender on
three time Pro Bowl placekicker Brandon Aubrey, Nikki and Bridget
back to you.

Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
Thanks so much, Isaac Well. It is my pleasure to
welcome on our next guest, Lauren Shahati. She is all
over from the Diamond working for MLB Network to the
upcoming sidelines for March Madness. Lauren is one of one.
She's also at her daughter's birthday party at a trampoline center.

Speaker 4 (01:04:03):
Right now so incredible.

Speaker 3 (01:04:04):
Find a woman who can do it all? Lauren girl?
How are you? Did you get on a train?

Speaker 1 (01:04:08):
Hi?

Speaker 7 (01:04:09):
Guys, I'm so happy to be with you. Thanks for
having me.

Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
Have you jumped on any of the trampolines yet? I
don't care doing this interview from the trampoline. No, I'm home.

Speaker 5 (01:04:19):
I'm actually home.

Speaker 7 (01:04:19):
I made it home safe, Thank goodness.

Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
Oh my gosh. Well, you're the absolute best. And we
have been raving about just what a magical time this
is in the sporting calendar, and I can only imagine
for you as you're doing your prep for the upcoming
MLB season, you know, spring trainings on, We've got the
WBC going on, and then on top of that, you're
going to be on the sidelines for March Madness. I mean,

(01:04:43):
what does this time of year mean to you?

Speaker 7 (01:04:45):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (01:04:46):
Man, it's such a blast. I was actually watching last night.
I was I found myself me deep and Nicaragwood Dominican.
I have no time either, and I was so just
mesmerized by, first of all, level of talent and the
want to and the will and the excitement, and that
just kind of carries over into March Madness. There's so

(01:05:08):
much to be excited about this time of year, and
I get to go.

Speaker 7 (01:05:11):
So Selection Sunday's next Sunday.

Speaker 5 (01:05:13):
I get all my teams and then it's kind of
a race against time.

Speaker 7 (01:05:16):
Get eighteens to.

Speaker 5 (01:05:17):
Learn, call all the athletic directors, to learn all their stories,
and hope to hope to do to injustice. So it's
the best time of year in my opinion.

Speaker 2 (01:05:25):
Okay, we were just kind of talking about that offline,
how crazy it must be to be a sideline reporter
for March Madness. Because usually when you sideline a game,
say an NFL sideliner, you get your game assignment at
least seven days before six days saveurndays before you have time.
But March Madness, you don't even know who you're going
to be playing. You have to prepare for so much.
Can you kind of just take us behind the scenes

(01:05:47):
of what your week looks like as you get ready
for that first week.

Speaker 5 (01:05:52):
It's such a good question because it's complete chaos and
it's the most fun. So Selection Sunday about two hours
after we find where we're going. I always have four
binders ready to go, and on them when I get
my teams, I write the team the mascot, the conference,
and the coach, and then when.

Speaker 7 (01:06:09):
I interview them.

Speaker 5 (01:06:09):
So for example, the lead coach that the team that's
in better placement is the under twelve interview, so I
put under twelve.

Speaker 7 (01:06:17):
So I remember in a drop of a hat.

Speaker 5 (01:06:19):
You know, sometimes it's four games in a day, so
you have to remember when you're interviewing too.

Speaker 7 (01:06:23):
It goes so fast.

Speaker 5 (01:06:24):
And then there's players you've never heard of. Obviously, you know,
no one's ever heard of if you're not following the
smaller schools or and the mascots and all that kind
of stuff. So you are just it's full cram. So
then right when you get the on Sunday the assignment,
you text all the athletic directors come up with a time.
On Monday, you can talk eight phone calls about an
hour each, getting all their stories and then researching them,

(01:06:48):
talking to the athlete who you know, one of the
guys looked up to Lebron James, so then we'll try
and get in touch with Lebron James to give a quote.

Speaker 7 (01:06:56):
On the athlete. Right, it's just complete chaos.

Speaker 5 (01:06:58):
And then you just go a certain point, guys, I say,
pencils down enough I'm not going to learn anymore. I'm
just going to hope to do them justice. So that's
around Wednesday. I put my pencil down and just hope.

Speaker 3 (01:07:11):
For the best. But Lauren, what I have loved watching you.
I mean in these moments, whether you're handling the trophy
presentation in Major League Baseball postseason or you're sharing these
athletes stories. For a lot of them, this is like
they're they're one hi where you know, to use the
term one shining moment. What what do you love about

(01:07:34):
being in this arena with you know a lot of
these these young men who like this is this is
the biggest stage they're setting foot on.

Speaker 7 (01:07:42):
It's so true.

Speaker 5 (01:07:43):
Nick, and I remember, oh gosh, about two years ago,
I was covering a team. I do not remember the team,
but I remember we could get to sit down with
the players and I said, what are you looking forward
to the most? I asked that same question you just
asked me to them and they said, each one down
the line, they said, I'm going to I'm going into
accounting in a week. I'm going to be a plumber.

(01:08:04):
I'm going to be a teacher. Right this was this
is it?

Speaker 7 (01:08:08):
Think about that so many times.

Speaker 5 (01:08:10):
We interview baseball players all the time, right, and this
is they're in the major league, this is it.

Speaker 7 (01:08:14):
Well, this is their career.

Speaker 5 (01:08:15):
They're they're shining at the highest level. A lot of
times in March madness, this is it, critim, this is
their last time that they will pick up a basketball.
Think about that, from when they were two years old
on this is the last time.

Speaker 7 (01:08:27):
So trying to honor that is so cool.

Speaker 5 (01:08:32):
But yet it's a different it's a different sporting event
in that sense. It's not like, oh, Tomorrow's there's another day.
It really really for a lot of these kids, that
isn't There isn't another day, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
Not to put you on the spot, but we were
talking about do Carolina and rivalries and epic moments. What
is the most electric environment you've experienced during the tournament?

Speaker 5 (01:08:52):
Oh, you're going to say just in sports in general.
And I always say the same question answer to that,
it's Death Valley at night at buns LSU at night
is something if you've never been, you just have to
in the Bayou. The most amazing people, the food, the sights,
the sound.

Speaker 7 (01:09:11):
It is just magical.

Speaker 5 (01:09:13):
But yeah, yeah, I don't think it gets any bigger
than that for sure, in terms of college of basketball
going back, and then just on the baseball landscape. I
just remember I love Red Sox Yankees, but I also
love if you're in the New England area, or if
you're in New York and you're at something that has
nothing to do with baseball. I remember being at a

(01:09:34):
Dave Matthews concert in Boston.

Speaker 2 (01:09:36):
Yea, that is such a Boston thing. Let me just say,
a Dave Matthews band concert. You're taking me back so.

Speaker 7 (01:09:44):
Good, so good, and they're still talking about Red Sox Yankee.

Speaker 5 (01:09:46):
So that's when you know, right when the rivalry creeps
over into regular life.

Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
I love that. And Lauren, I mean because you are
the ultimate utility player talking just baseball. And you know,
I was out at Dodgers camp for a week and
it's it's just surreal to hear the word three P
being floated around. But as you look at the rest
of at the rest of MLB and you know where
this season is going, what are big themes that you're noticing?

Speaker 7 (01:10:13):
Ooh, big themes?

Speaker 5 (01:10:15):
First of all, well, with the WBC, I'm just loving
the star power, right, themes I have wanted for a
long time for the Phillies to like, I've picked them
the last three years. I've been wrong for three years.
I just feel like they have every thing you need
for a championship. I feel like the Yankees are right
there knocking on the door. But then you know, I
didn't pick the Blue Jays and look at them. So

(01:10:35):
it's like every year I do these predictions and I
hate it if my least favorite part of the job
because they're always wrong. So I'm just gonna pick the
Dodgers for the rest of my life.

Speaker 7 (01:10:42):
That's that's that's it.

Speaker 5 (01:10:44):
I'm going with that for the rest of my life.

Speaker 2 (01:10:46):
I mean, that's the thing that people don't understand with
these predictions, and people are.

Speaker 3 (01:10:49):
Like, you're so wrong, you don't know what you're talking about.
It's like nobody knows, nobody.

Speaker 5 (01:10:52):
Knows, nobody knows you had the Blue Jays, you're a
Ubi Lion, you are.

Speaker 3 (01:10:56):
Ying, or you're from Toronto.

Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
Anyways, who's a team that people might be sleeping on
right now that you're like, hmm, this can be a surprise.

Speaker 5 (01:11:05):
The athletics are going to be good. They have locked
up a lot of their young talent. I think their
division is more open than we think. Do I think
they're ready right now? Do I think I have all
the pitching, you know, pitching wins in October?

Speaker 7 (01:11:17):
Do I think that?

Speaker 6 (01:11:18):
No?

Speaker 5 (01:11:18):
I don't, But I think they have some young talent
that is locked up and ready to go, and by
the time they're in Vegas, we're going to see them
completely rise.

Speaker 7 (01:11:28):
I feel like that's an.

Speaker 5 (01:11:29):
Up and coming team.

Speaker 7 (01:11:31):
Who else.

Speaker 5 (01:11:33):
I feel like the Red Sox could be good. The
pitching stuff so good. I just went to camp and
I talked to Alex Korra and he's like, you know,
if we can hit, we're solid and pitching. So those
two teams, I feel like, stick out to me. I
just went to all the spring all spring training sites,
and those two kind of stand out above.

Speaker 3 (01:11:48):
The rest NonStop. And looking at the WBC, do you
think we're headed towards a USA Japan final?

Speaker 7 (01:11:56):
Oh my gosh, you know.

Speaker 5 (01:11:57):
Okay, So last night I was all up in Dominican Nicaragua, USA.

Speaker 7 (01:12:03):
I was watching and.

Speaker 5 (01:12:04):
Then Japan was in the morning, so you know, you
guys woke up. You saw showhey, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:12:08):
On four Unicorn back in actually unicorn stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:12:13):
So I looked at all the scores so last night
I kind.

Speaker 7 (01:12:15):
Of took while Friday Night guys.

Speaker 5 (01:12:17):
By the way she took all the scores, I'm like, Okay,
Japan beat them by thirteen, US beat them by ten,
Dominican beat them by whatever. I think it was twelve
or whatever it was, and I'm like, they're just beating
everyone else. So it's those three to me far and away. Obviously,
I was trying to think if I would pick the
USA or the Dominican lineup.

Speaker 7 (01:12:36):
I don't know much about the Japanese lineup.

Speaker 5 (01:12:38):
Although they scored you know, I think it was thirteen
round yesterday, they're so close the Dominican in the US
lineup are so they're both so stacked it's like card
to choose. I feel like the pitching on the American
side might win out, but my gosh, I would be
you know, I'm usl away, but I don't know how
that's going to work out. But Japan, I just don't

(01:13:00):
know all the players. But they've won three World Baseball Classics,
more than anyone else, so I never underestimate them.

Speaker 4 (01:13:07):
Show Hey Otani, big guy, fan of this guy?

Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Who is it?

Speaker 2 (01:13:12):
Guy?

Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
Who is he?

Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
My question to you is, if it comes down to
USA versus Show Hey Otani?

Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
Just USA, Show Hey, got it? That's what it is?

Speaker 2 (01:13:23):
Who are you going for? And what of your interactions
with Show Hey, Ben? Can you share a little insight?

Speaker 5 (01:13:30):
Yes?

Speaker 7 (01:13:30):
So, I Nick, you was talking about the trophy presentation.

Speaker 5 (01:13:33):
I got the privilege which maybe my favorite thing I
get to do is after one sixty two, just the
grind getting able to hand the trophy to the World
Championship Series MVP. And it was the Dodgers and going
into that series against the Brewers, they swept them in
four games, but it was anyone from Snell to Yamamoto.
All these guys did well, but there was no clear

(01:13:53):
cut MVP. And I like to prepare my questions because
I I want them to be how I want them, right,
like you you can leave. There's so much left us
to chance in live tb Ile. You know, we all
prepare so much, right, So I'm like, who's it going
to be? And then Show Hey goes off with ten
streakouts and three home run and I'm thinking this man,

(01:14:13):
And you know that I practiced the whole season. I thought,
what if I get to interview show Hareshani? So I
learned how to stay congratulations in Japanese, and at that moment,
I forgot I did not say it.

Speaker 3 (01:14:25):
You did that. You know, I had such a big moment, Lauren, Lauren,
I know we're talking about the unicorn that show Hey is,
but that's what makes you an absolute unicorn and Lauren Shahanti.
No one does it better. And I'm so grateful for
your time. Happy birthday to your daughter, and thank you.
Can't wait for you to be filling our screens for
March Madness and then Opening Day. Oh my goodness, but.

Speaker 5 (01:14:46):

after this, and we are talking some feel good stories
to close out our show. It's been banger after banger,
and that's how I feel about talking all things sports
with Bridget Condon. Here for your Fox Sports Saturday Bridget, Oh,
a little sacks, so party Sacks. There is nothing better

(01:15:33):
a wedding with a saxophonist.

Speaker 2 (01:15:34):
I demanded a saxophone at my wedding, as you should.

Speaker 4 (01:15:38):
It was one of my only demands.

Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
And what was your favorite song that the saxophonist ripped
you or did you have like a great memory of
one on the dance floor?

Speaker 2 (01:15:46):
Ah, now you're throwing me on the spot. Okay, such
a busy day. He just was like incredible during all
the songs.

Speaker 3 (01:15:52):
I'm sure he was. And you know, we remembered your
seventh grade chemistry teacher's name.

Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
Like literally, my brain is fried. Okay, and my daughter's sick.
I was up all night. At least I can remember
the chemistry teacher. You know, I'll let you know about
the saxophone maybe in three months.

Speaker 3 (01:16:04):
You are an incredibly impressive human and mother, and I'm
so grateful to be here with you. As we close
out this show. I wanted to just let's just share
some good vibes, some good stories. Did you see anything
in the sports world this week that made you smile?

Speaker 4 (01:16:20):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (01:16:21):
So, one of the most powerful stories that I've read
surrounds the LA Marathon that's obviously happening in La where
we are tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (01:16:30):
It's a movement called Run Like Braun.

Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
It's a tribute to bron Levy, an eighteen year old
Loyola High School senior nationally ranked tennis player. He ran
the LA Marathon last year on a whim, which is
absolutely insane. It takes months of training to do that.
Despite having no training, he pushed through. He finished the rage.
His family said that kind of perfectly captured his fearless
approach to life. Two months later, he was tragically killed

(01:16:55):
being struck by a suspected dui driver in Manhattan Beach.
Now his family and friends are honoring his legacy. A
group of sixty six runners will take on the LA
Marathon wearing shirts that read run like Braun and Impaired Driving.
Such an incredible it gives me chills thinking about it.
Being at the marathon in general is one of those

(01:17:16):
things that is so moving and inspiring, and just seeing
all of his friends and family want to pay this
forward and do something and honor his life. It's just
one of those stories that really stopped me in my
tracks when I read it this week.

Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
It's really special that you mentioned that. I know a
large community, the Live Like bron community, and it is
a movement in the South Bay celebrating Bronze memory and
legacy and the amount of lives he impacted from his peers,
you know, high school students at the time, to their

(01:17:52):
parents and it is a beautifully contagious spirit to celebrate
and remember that, like every moment is precious. And I
didn't know the marathon campaign for that, and I'm I'm
I just got goosebumps hearing that, so run like Ron, Yeah,
like Ron, beautiful, beautiful stuff. Thank you for sharing that.

(01:18:14):
My my feel good story is a little bit sillier,
but it is on the power of girlhood. This week,
three UCLA women's basketball seniors what which by the way,
UCLA women's basketball team is number two in the nation
right now. They were in the final four last year.
Gabriella Hawkes, Charlie Leisure Walker, and Lauren Betts. They have
been training for the past month to do to dance

(01:18:37):
with the UCLA dance team, which by the way is
no joke of a dance team. It is very competitive
to make that team at UCLA. And so for the
senior night, for these three incredibly well rounded women. They
got up there and they danced and they hit they five, six, seven, eight.
It was so awesome. And I've known Gabriella followed her

(01:18:58):
career since you know, her brother Hime was a senior
at UCLA going on to play for the Heat. The
Hawkes family is wonderful. It's just really cool to see
her blossom into this athlete and celebrate the power of
being a female, Like, yes, I love that.

Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
Oh my god, that's awesome. What an accomplishment. Real quick,
I got another one for you. Did you hear about
the Carson Race?

Speaker 7 (01:19:22):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:19:23):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (01:19:24):
In the world of social.

Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
Media online, how about this in Edwardsville, Illinois, yesterday, more
than forty five people named Carson showed up to race
each other at a local park. Over three hundred spectators
came out to watch and cheer. It started like this
one guy Carson on TikTok Carsons. Yes, the winner won
one hundred dollars Chick fil a gift card, gift basket,
and a collectible coin.

Speaker 3 (01:19:44):
We got to think of the plural for Carsons, just
a car cart.

Speaker 2 (01:19:49):
Carlo I was thinking, like, who named Bridget wants to
race me. The funny thing about Carsons, it's like a
gender neutral name. So we had men, we had women,
a young Carson's old Carsons. Also, why is everybody in
Illinois named Carson? Forty five people in one town named Carson.

Speaker 3 (01:20:06):
Incredible. We'll have to dig into that at a future time.
But listen, good luck to all the marathoners running the
LA Marathon tomorrow. Coming up next, it's Alex Curry and
Garment Vitally. We'll see you right after this
