She gives me a smile and I'm up, you know

I went there. I wanted to go to an Ivy

Eddie Murphy concert. Right, And she's talking to me and
you know, playing with her hair and laughing and smiling

and she's did I mention that she's an absolute ten?

I mean, I'm tag you brought this up?

Yeah, And I'm engaging. And she must have been like
about twenty five to thirty, right around that age. And
I'm saying to myself, is she hitting on me? Either
either she's blind right, or she has daddy issues, or
let's be honest, she's a ten. I did shave, I

used some moisturizer. I could be at nine point seventy.
Maybe I was looking like thirty five years old, you know,
something like that. So I finished the checkout. She only
had like one item. She checks out, she goes, excuse
me cause I ask you a question that she goes.

And I'm saying to myself, out of a gun say
I said, yes, I'm married, but aren't I going to
hold for you? And she laughed. She goes, no, no, no, no,
I wanted to introduce you to my grandma.

Oh my gosh, her, not her mom.

No, not not like an older sister or an aunt
or a cousin, not even a mom, A my gray.
And she must have seen my face, the colored dray
out of my face, she goes, well, my grandma's fun.

She likes to party, did you I kept ask how
old she was?

No, I kept thinking of like Granny from the Beverly
hill Billies at the Seamen pod. I'm like, what what

watch it live. The first thing I saw because I
was driving through the night was that the game was
tied seventeen.

All at the half, and I'm like, well, Arnie's already
hit the over.

You know, first I was easy, but I feeling.

Well, technically you still needed a half point.

I wasn't about to say congratulations because it would be
my e life that it would be a shut out
the rest of the way and in a seventeen all tie. Yeah,
but I did go back and I watched it because
the NFL network really didn't have anything else to show,
so it just reaired that like a thousand times. For
as much as we dump on like the Hall of
Fame game and what it traditionally is that's a pretty

good football game, right.

It wasn't very good football. Matter of fact, they gave
us two preseason Hall of Fame from that. No, they
were very good, both quarterbacks.

I throw King and Carson Back in the preseason Hall
of Fame.

Absolutely, I mean, how could you not? What is row?
What kind of question is that I'm just asking?

Speaker 4 (09:11):
I got I mean, there's very there's very loose rules
in this Hall of Fame.

It's kind of like the Major League Baseball.

Carson Beck is already MVP of the the preseason, so
he's already won.

Carson Beck is over Haines King.

Yeah, well, Haines Haines King. I think is out for
the rest of the preseason. What happened his hamstring, So
he's definitely out the next game.

going to play in the preseason anymore. They don't want
to go ahead. And matter of fact, they signed another quarterback.

Yeah, Carson fifteen out of nineteen one eighty eight, one touchdown,
no interceptions. I got to tell you he looked good.
It really shows you when you when you go to

you go that log it really helps you and you
get all those starts, high pressure starts. I really wondered

if he was going to be any good or you know,
if he was going to be just like a serviceable
third stringer and he was going to be on a.

He was at Georgia Arnie for five seasons before he
went to Miami.

He played six years in college ball.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
He started forty three games in college football forty three
and played in fifty five of them during his college
football career.

I'm sorry, but you're right. You get a lot of
experience coming in. Now.

What works against him is he is you know, he's
already going to be twenty five when the season starts.
You know, he turns twenty five on November nineteenth. So
but do you put much stock in that?

I think we talk about this every year, do you
I put a little bit of stock into like, hey,
the kid can play. He obviously should could be a
second stringer, and I would have no faults about it.
But some people think, oh, it means no thing. He's
playing against FedEx delivery drivers or something to that.

You know, well, again, there is this part that's like, hey,
we got a good game, right that it was, it
was fun. I think we missed football. I mean, you
got you got all the people that were complaining about, oh,
it's a Hall of Fame game and no one's gonna
play each other. But I mean, let's let's also remember
that the you know, the stars of last year's Hall

of Fame game. Whenever the Chargers beat the Lions thirty
four to seven. You know, I know, you don't like
to have like the faxstone. And there was Trey Lance,
and we sat here three hundred and sixty five days
ago and you were talking about how Trey Lance might
be an NFL starting quarterback. So again, I'm not here
to throw water on it. I'm not here to damper
the spirits at all. But if if we would have

carried over towards the twenty twenty five season what we
learned in the very first game, then Trey Lance would
have been an opening day starter. So I I hear you, Arnie.
I like what Carson Back and Haines King did, and
you're right that Hammy going to hold him out at
least for the next game, right for Haines King. But
I'm not gonna get too carried away with it except

that it was a fun game and he also.

Both quarterbacks I think showed a lot of poise and
you know, no turnovers. There was a fumble, but that
wasn't had nothing to do with the quarterback situation, and
and car Sebek did throw it downfield. Now, one thing
about that, A couple of the long downfield passes, the
wide receiver kind of came back for it. The defender
got lost, and you know, give the wide receiver credit

on that. It was kind of underthrown, but that besides
us little things, little little picky things, there's no doubt
that this guy's a legitimate number two quarterback. I don't
know if he's the starter, but you know you'd feel
okay with him coming in for a game or two
because the quarterback may have gotten hurt or something to that.

So I want to hold off on Roman numeral number two, yeah, okay,
and Roman numeral number three okay, because we have Arnie's
I think I'm reading this right, says full week one preseason, right,
what we're looking for play were intrigued by yea, I
want to pause that for just a bit because I
do want to hit Roman numeral number five, which is

simply the Hall of Fame. Yeah, and I guess the
ceremony from this weekend. But you you got some issues
with Bill Belichick not being there.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
No, I think they're going to make changes. Yeah, I
do have issues without him being there, because they're actually
gonna make changes so it doesn't happen again where somebody
like it. Bill Belichick doesn't get in. They're gonna make
the it's all the math and how many votes you
need and stuff like that, he should get in, he
should get in now. Yeah, there's no doubt. I thought

what happened last year was an absolute disgrace, and I
don't think they want it to happen again. So they're
gonna tinker with the rules a little bit to make
it where that doesn't That's what it's really all about.
They don't want this. It had egg on their face
last year, to be honest with, then they don't want
it happen again.

Yeah, I will say the ceremonies are what they are.
Unless I loved the player, I'm probably not gonna sit

I thought it was just overall for the NFL. I
thought it was from Thursday on, a really good launch
to the season. I thought everything that needed to happen
to get us excited about We're all excited about football, right,
but everything needed to happen happen.

We don't always get in the Hall of Fame game,
we had dudes that you know, we look at and like,
oh yeah, those are some first ballot Hall of Fame dudes.

weekend overall.

How come when they put in the Hall of Fame
bust to Drew Brees, it's a it's a bust of
Peyton Manning.

a conversation about at some point. And they're right, it's like,
who is that guy? Who's that person that is not
Drew Brees?

Looks like Drew Brees maybe when he's going to be

might not make Crossers that you're still intrigued by. Hey,
speaking of that, your boys are getting a little love,
Your Wildcats are getting a little love. We're trying to
find someone who can chase down Texas Tech in the
Big twelve. And the more people realize that Noah Fafide
is in his twenty sixth year of playing college football,

which is like most players in college football anymore. I
think the more we're kind of realizing that you guys
might be better than something.

they're nineteen to one. I looked up the odds just

the preseason is ty Simpson. So if you're looking ahead
to the Rams and the Chiefs, I mean I would
assume Stetson Bennett will get the start and then we'll
see Ty Simpson in the second half.

But I mean the Chiefs. That is a fascinating backup
quarterback conversation.

Right now, because you never want to worry about it,
you never want to think about it. And Mahomes is
obviously coming along very well, but you know who their
backup is.

Yeah, they win got Justin Fields from the Jets into trade.
And you know, neus Meyer was a guy that if
you were to look if you were a sicko like

a first round pick. Now I'm not saying I bought

be some trade bait for Kansas City, because you know
we have quarterback hungry teams out there.

Though I think the Smyer's going to get a lot
of play in time. I expect him to maybe get
a half. Same thing for Simpson too. I think you're
gonna see a lot of playing for him. Also, I'm
not so sure if we're going to see a lot
of stents in Bennett. You know, you got to keep
Pitt Mouthy. I think he's going to be the second streaker.

resume includes a stint with the Bucks, the Warriors, the Nigs.

He won five NBA championships as a player. He was
the NBA Coach of the Year three times. His number

the Red Sox playing each other. I've been watching a
lot more baseball than I ever do at this point

They get the Royals coming up for a set this week,
so we'll see if things can start to click, because

it just it hasn't been there offensively for the Dodgers
at all. And I listen there, I watched an Oklahoma
baseball team who had a hitter that was hitting below

the game winning home run in a regional So I'm
not ready to tap out on any baseball team, especially

the embodiment of heart and tenacity, and also why he
can't stay healthy as we see him already dealing with

Actually, you know, already graduating with an undergrad degree in
humanities from Arizona's a far cry from econometrics at MIT.

let you continue with your stick. So why don't you
lay it off us in terms of where we can
find winners Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. You can keep this
little heater intact, are you?

Is there a lot of action coming in in week
number one or is it just starting now and people
are gonna wait.

Speaker 10 (58:48):
You'll get a good amount of action, but it's mainly
professional betters that as soon as these numbers open up,
some of them open up on Friday, some of them
open Saturday morning, they'll look to try and pounce, and
knowing that they're going to have a ton of opportunities
to either come back with the other side or continue
to pile on their positions. Some of the biggest movers
that we've already seen. I don't think these will surprise anyone.

(59:08):
The Tennessee Titans move from a one and a half
point road underdog on the road to San Francisco to
a two and a half point favorite. I think that
number is going to continue to move out to three
and maybe even three and a half or greater. Knowing
that Tennessee's got a little bit more depth of the
quarterback position, Robert Sallas still something to prove, and the
forty nine ers just need to try and get out
of the preseason unscathed. And then we did see a

(59:28):
little bit of money coming in on the Cincinnati Bengals
today with the Detroit Lions announcing the Teddy Bridgewater stepping
away from the team puts a lot more pressure on
the likes of Luke Altmeyer and potentially Kyle Trask to
eat up some of those minutes. So two of the
bigger moves that are there. And we've also seen Denver
take some money three and a half out to five
as they'll travel to the Mercedes benzoone to take on

(59:49):
the Atlanta Falcons.

Speaker 4 (59:50):
And that one of the hardest things, though, todd to
figure out, all right, who's going to actually play their
guys and who is it or am I over kind
of emphasizing that during the preseason.

Speaker 10 (01:00:00):
An information game more so than anything else. It's trying
to get ahead of the numbers, trying to anticipate which
coaches we'll put in game plans, which teams you feel
more comfortable with their depths. And while most people gravitate
towards the quarterback position, I think oftentimes what gets overlooked
is the offensive and defensive lines, because if you can
run the football successfully or you can generate pressure on

(01:00:20):
the other side, that's typically where these games will be
one with backups in the third and fourth quarter. And
I'm not going to sugarcoat it, like Arnie, the preseason
isn't for the faint of heart, because you're going to
see some unusual occurrences. You'll see some unique late games
scoring situations, and it's a lot of players that won't
be playing on Sunday. And like they say in the NCAA,
these players will graduate from college and they'll be doing

something other than playing a professional sport.

I'm going to scare you down, Todd. I'm not kidding
around all bs A side. I send Chris by Roman
numerals and what we want to go over on the

the world of football. How concerned should Dodger fans right now?

I mean, we lived through this last year with the Dodgers,
everybody hitting the panic button when they went through in
August and September swoon. The Dodgers are just trying to
play out the string. They know the only thing that
is going to define the merits of their season is
what they do in Game one, sixty three and beyond.
I don't think it's any reason hit the panic button.
They just need to get healthy and make sure they
have their full compliment of arms. Although when you look

at their roster offensively, maybe there are a few more
holes then people gave them credit for. But they are
still the front runner for a good reason. And it's
why that the short shot on the boards even amid
this skid price right around plus a dollar fifty or
three to two, depending on which type of parlance you prefer.

Any value with some of the other teams, maybe Milwaukee
nine to one. Red Sox are are at eleven the one,
though they've lost two in a row. You could have
gotten them at like thirty to one or something to
that effect.

Speaker 10 (01:02:49):
I mean, you could add the Red Sox on July
thirty forty one just to win the American League. That's
probable their run has been when you look at some
of the underlying metrics though batted balls in play average
that is far greater than what is sustainable. So you
wonder if the Red Sox peaked a little bit too early,
but that was a season pois to get off the
rails in Atlanta, getting a little bit healthier. A great

series this past weekend in the Bronx Cell where they
were able to steal the final game of that three
game set Milwaukee. For me, offensively, I'm not ready to
rubber stamp them. I've seen them before, step up in
class and just not have the bats to be able
to manufacture offense. And the Cubs they're generating a little
bit of buzz. Maybe that's the team that can kind
of come from off the pace if you believe in
PCA's MVP candidacy. And they did enough to kind of

(01:03:31):
bolster that starting rotation.

Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
Todd back to football and at least right where your
feed are Vegas, you get Kirk Cousins and Max Crosby
kind of throw hands at practice. So Fernando Mendoza gets
a day and it looks like he didn't waste it
being the guy. They're still going to be very patient.
Aren't they any chance that what they see from him
in the preseason could accelerate that timeline at all?

Speaker 10 (01:03:53):
There should be no rush to try and get him
out there. The Raiders are not going to go out
there and win anything this season, and with the change
in management in the front office and Tom Brady's fingerprints
all over the organization now they have to realize that
you want to bring it along a starting quarterback, even
if he is the number one overall pick in the draft.
Slow and steady will eventually win that race, and you
hope you can get the proper mentorship from Kirk Cousins,

(01:04:15):
who has been there and done that, and a variety
of stops along the way. So the success of the
Fernando Mendoza pick and the merits of such a choice
won't be determined and how he performs this year, although
I do think we see him out there, it's just
a question of when. It's knowing that he's got to
get this franchise headed in the right trajectory making an
attractive destination for free agents going forward, and the Raiders

(01:04:35):
have to continue to beef up both on the offensive
and defensive sides.

Todd ten thousand dollars gets you back two hundred thousand
dollars on my Arizona Wildcats to win the Big twelve.

The problem for Arizona is ken this defense pick up

wait long to figure out if Arizona is a legitimate
dark horse contender in the Big twelve. They'll go to

football playoff executives are scheduled to meet tomorrow to explore

expansion and ask has been talked about. The focus is
on a sixteen and twenty four team model, with the
current feeling now we're getting momentum arnie towards a twenty
four team field. Josh Pate, noted college football personality, said
that he's heard rumblings of a twenty team college football

playoff format, which would feature playing games featuring each power
for conference, basically replacing the conference championship game. All the
talk publicly has been sixteen or twenty four, but apparently
the twenty team two zero twenty team playoff format has
been cooking for a while.

I'm okay with twenty to twenty four, and I'm also
okay okay with them taking away the conference championship games.
I don't know, at the top of my head how
many kind of became irrelevant or you know, as we
got toward the end of the season. So if we're
gonna go ahead and do that, if it's not gonna
be that big of a deal, let's have a little
bit more into the playoffs and do that and forget

about these conference championships that may be meaningless.

This was interesting because I have heard from the Great
Shady Sean for twenty and he said, you guys bring
up being concerned about the network's not pushing for expansion
in college football's playoffs. I'm also concerned about how Fox
has decided not to renegotiate with the NFL right now.
I'm guessing they're putting all their money towards the next
World Cup, and CBS isn't willing to negotiate either. I

wonder if the NFL just screwed themselves with all these
treating partners, that the networks are just done, you know,
because they do have the agreement now with the ESPN,
and the NFL network is pretty much, you know, run
by ESPN. I don't I don't put too much into
it because I do think there's going to be an
incredible market for the next round of NFL right. I

think it's ridiculous, But what is it gonna be worth
keeping an eye on?

Speaker 3 (01:51:46):
What's it feeling bad that that the NFL is losing
at on money because they didn't renegotiate a contract.

Speaker 2 (01:51:52):
Is that what I'm understanding, Maybe just not to get
all of the what's the best way to put this,
get all the best games on the best network works,
you know, and maybe going more towards streaming platforms and
things of that nature to where we all get even
in a roundabout way Fox and CBS. But suddenly, you know,

if maybe a Fox or a CBS is like, hey,
we put it off, who's to say that? In Netflix
or you know, more Prime Video comes swooping in and says, hey,
it's been a big success for us, we want even
more games. I could see where that would be a
concern too.

Speaker 3 (01:52:25):
Yeah, no, that's a strong possibility. It costs a lot
of money for them to put that up, but they
have a lot of money, so we'll see what happens.

Speaker 4 (01:52:32):
They It costs a lot of money, but they have
a lot of money as well. And I mean there
is a point where you're like, how much more money
do you guys need? Each the point we're like, uh,
this was from mister nobody. I don't remember where, but
I heard someone advocate the NBA season starting in December
and ending in August. I agree, for if no other reason,

it might deter talk about meaningless boring preseason in a games.

I was thinking about that. Maybe Yeah, after Thanksgiving in December, Uh,

you know, are the players gonna want to be playing
during the summer months? That's the big question there.

And then Joe Judges Berner, I missed this one earlier.
He writes, the Bill Stadium has obstructive views in the
upper deck all over the place, and even some in
the lower bowl. A two billion dollar disaster. Yeah to
Sega was talking about that a little bit in the
this segment. But I guess Arnie it there's some fired
up Bills fans after that.

You better give me the seats for twenty cents on
the dollar if I have to see one of them.
Had you couldn't see the end zone on one of
them at all, You couldn't see from Mike the ten

in your boat. I averaged five and a half hours
a day sleep. I think work twelve hours a day,
five to six days a week, try to fight time
for the family when football and on sleep. How much
do sleep a day?

So Sunday nights, Sunday nights, I get off at one
of like, we get done here, We're done in twenty minutes.

Yeah, I'm not falling asleep right after the show is over.

I've got to be frag and contemplate my life after

I'll wake up at five and then i'll I'll show
my show sixty nine on our affiliate Norman the Ref.
I work out afterwards, and then I have dad for
a little bit. I got cheer practice tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (01:56:17):
You don't go to bed at nine after the show.

Speaker 4 (01:56:19):
No, we got back to school next. My daughter is
going back to school this week.

Speaker 2 (01:56:24):

So you got to go to school. Wather did you
just drop her off?

Speaker 2 (01:56:28):
Well, you go meet the teachers and stuff. So you know,
I got a back to earlier you have.

Speaker 4 (01:56:34):
I know you haven't had, you know, a kid in
school for a while, but I want to make sure
she's getting good teachers and that everything's going right. So yeah,
you know, I I've got a busy day tomorrow, but
I'll be fine. We'll all be good, Thank you, Josh.

Speaker 3 (01:56:46):
I can't just going back to school August nine. That's
it's in your Maine.

Speaker 2 (01:56:51):
That's that's when they're going back this week. I mean today.
Let's see, their first day is Thursday, so August thirteenth.
Right when I was a kid, it was through Labor
Day really and wait that long? Oh yeah, we had
a good We had a good three months.

Speaker 3 (01:57:06):
We didn't get done until the second week in June,
but we had the rest of June, July, August, and
then after Labor Day.

Speaker 4 (01:57:13):
Oh I wouldn't. I'm glad they're not going back. I remember,
because these kids need to get back to school.

Speaker 3 (01:57:18):
I remember going to the UCLA practices and stealing the
footballs from their.

Speaker 2 (01:57:21):
Practice, and you never got in trouble. Huh No.

Speaker 3 (01:57:24):
We used to play catch. Then the guy who had
the struggle's art would overthrow us and throw it over
the wall, and we'd have a guy there catch it
and run.
