Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Rado.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh look who's driving?
Speaker 1 (00:07):
Good eating?
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Everybody already's been your Chris Plank right here on Fox
Sports Radio. We live at the Fox Sports Radio studios.
Hope everybody's well tonight, our buddy, Chris Plank, just slightly late.
You know, I'm starting to get a complex that nobody
wanted to work with me tonight. Where were you, Plank?
(00:31):
Why are we late tonight?
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Pike?
Speaker 2 (00:32):
I'm starting to get a complex. You didn't want to
work with me. The sager didn't want to work with me.
The producer, no Torres, no Martin. Nobody wants to work
with me. All of a sudden, when the Knicks are winning,
when all my teams are losing, everybody.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Wants to work with me. How you doing, buddy?
Speaker 2 (00:49):
What's going on?
Speaker 1 (00:50):
My friend?
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Well, I have a lot of confessions to make here.
Number one, I would never say no to working with
you Onnie. You're the only.
Speaker 5 (00:58):
Person I might have said no. They didn't ask.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
You're smarter than I am, the segre Here's what happened,
and I'm going to give you guys the full stop story.
Just hopefully maintain my employment. I I am one of
the national voices for softball, so I get to call
the World Series on a national network, and tonight's game
(01:22):
was the later game. But there's no way it would
last that long. There's no way out of here till
ten o'clock. And by the way, usually, and I'm just
telling you, usually, I have my I'm always mister has
every single possible. I have a hot spot, I have
a piece of equipment, I have something where I could
(01:44):
be doing this show right now while I'm driving if necessary.
But tonight, for some unknown reason, my cocky Eric in
backside said, what Arnie, No way, no way, this is
not a problem tonight. So we ended up having one
of the more epic women's College World Series games we've
ever had. Add to it, the longest and at about
(02:08):
let's see, this show is ten o'clock Central time, So
at about nine fifteen was the moment where I realized
I'm in big trouble here. I have a show that
starts a DM. I've already received the roman numeral rundown twice. Yeah,
so that's when I got on the phone and I'm
like Ian Arnie boss Man's who. By the way, the
Boss may even checked with me on Monday. He's like,
(02:29):
you're sure, you're good. I'm like, I'll be great. I'm good.
I've got the evening. Last night's game was an hour
and fifty eight minutes tonight. Tonight's got me racing back
home to hang out with you.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
So I know.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
I was watching that game and they kept rotating the
same two pictures over and over again. For Texas Tech,
it's like, bring her in, bring her out, bring her in.
They must have brought in that Kennedy girl what like
four or five times, and seemed like it was crazy.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Five different changes.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
Yeah, really, geez, Yeah, you give out home run that
sent it to extra and made it a longer night
for you, And then what about the sprinkler delay in
extra innings down the right field line.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
Listen, I accepted the sega that even with that sprinkle alert,
without a sprinkler delay, that I was going to be late.
But knowing that, I took the arrogant approach to not
bring any studio stuff with me and just do the
show from there. Every little thing now is bothersome. So yeah, yeah,
I apologize. Guys, Arnie. I want to work with you
(03:28):
more when your teams are winning, because when your teams
are winning, you're happy, You're in a good mood.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
It's happy Arnie.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
I've never been happy Arnie in the fourteen years we've
been working because my teams have never woned. You've never
you never got to see happy Arnie after fourteen years.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
It's amazing.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
I am so I'm so torn right now because hey,
there's the anger of not being able to sit here
and go ahead and proclaim with you your Nicks as
world champions now that the Spurs have taken out the
plamous City Thunder, who were I mean decimated by injuries,
but still that's no excuse. That was a heck of
(04:06):
a performance in Game seven on Friday night by san Antonio.
I mean, they were awesome. I probably should have won
by more. But I think you've got the best possible matchup.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Man.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
I know that we worry with Mitchell's injury, but not
to ruin all this stuff whenever I actually get the
studio that I got for you tonight. But dude, I
think I'm on cloud nine with this matchup right now.
If I'm you, no, and.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
I'm very excited.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
You know. I did ask the boss because he's like,
do you want to go to the game. Do you
want us to get a press pass? I'm like, I
get a press pass. I can't cheer. I got to
be up of the press room. You go, do you
want a ticket? You know where you gonna give me
a ticket? All the way on top of it? Do
you want a ticket in the lower bowl? I go, well,
(04:51):
you know, the lower bowl's okay, but you know I
prefer to be like two three rows from the court.
You know, if the station wants to pay for me
to be like, you know, two rows behind Fat Joe,
you know that we could start talking. He goes, you're not.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Going to the game.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
I forget about it. It has not happened. I mean, Mike,
it's only like fifty what you say I got? I
gotta sit close and let's I mean, come on, man,
don't don't don't put me all the way on top.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
I don't want to sit with real people.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Yeah, come on.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
I'd rather go ahead and stand outside with the with
the lunatics on Seventh Avenue and and yell at people
and and start to start yelling and screaming and doing
all that fun stuff. I'd rather go up there with
with the real fans then then be in a game
like that. It's just too expensive.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
You know, I don't want to ruin your picks or anything,
you know, six minutes into the show. But I assume
you've got like, what the Nixon three or something like that.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Nixon two two, Yeah, two, Nixon too there. Yeah, they're
just they're just gonna win the first two and that.
That's pretty much going to wrap it up. I got
my wife went into Manhattan today and went to the
NBA store and got me at New York Knicks T shirt.
I'm really not sure what it's about, but I'm just
happy to have it. I think it costs like a
(06:10):
million dollars. I'm like, why you're there, you might as
well get me a whole bunch of stuff, give me
a Knicks hats. She's like, oh my god, you know
how much it is at the NBA store.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
It was very expensive, But.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
I buy bootleg stuff. It's so much cheaper and better
when you get it on the street, so by.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
The stuff that could have fall apart the first time
you wash it.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
So I'm contact Rod Parker.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah, I sent you a picture of being my T shirt.
Did you get I put it on Twitter? Did you
see it, Chris, did you have a chance to see it?
Speaker 4 (06:39):
Like you have a picture of you and a Knicks
shirt that I've missed somehow.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
I sent it to you on your on your tweet
and I also put it on Twitter, and.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
Well, here's here's my thing. Is it really you or
is it another AI general?
Speaker 6 (06:56):
No?
Speaker 2 (06:56):
No, no, this is no no no. This is the
one I got. My wife got me from the uh,
the NBA store. This is the shirt that seriously, it's
one T shirt that I didn't even want to ask
how much it costs because when you're buying it from
the NBA store that had the little NBA bag and
it's gotta be like over one hundred bucks for just
a damn T shirt. But it is a nice T shirt, right,
I do like that. I'm gonna wear it the Seventh
(07:17):
Avenue when I go down there.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
Got yourself a final shirt.
Speaker 7 (07:21):
Look at you?
Speaker 4 (07:21):
You are a bigger fan.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
The gear.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Yeah, they're guys playing. He's breaking up a little bit.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Hold on, hold secon let me try this thing. Am
I back? Now?
Speaker 1 (07:36):
You got it? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (07:36):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
What kind of crappy area you in right now?
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Downtown Oklahoma City. Here's the thing where it's all sad
and it's all human glooming. Apparently that's thunder suck now,
but we'll talk about that later in the show. Arnie,
you say all the time, you say all the time
on this program that you're a bigger fan than all.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Of us, right, yes, if everybody knows that, Yes, yes.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
I think whenever you're one of the first people in
line to jump and buy that final shirt, I think
that makes you a bigger fan. Man. That's like true
fandom right there.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
There you go, Right, I've been trying to tell you.
I've been trying to That's That's what I'm all about.
I'm gonna I want to go down there and buy
a whole bunch of stuff. I think my wife's afraid
to get me in the NBA store because I'll go
crazy and just walk out the credit card.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
They win the title, let them win the title, then
you can buy everything you want.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Yeah, I'm looking forward to that.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
I you know, I can't believe the Knicks are such
a dog in this series. I know it's not two
to one, but it's a little bit under I'm shocked
or a five point underdog in game number one. I
wish I had like millions of dollars to bet on this.
I'm taking the Knicks in the in the first game.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Well, listen while I continue my journey to the studio.
I do know this one thing. I think that you've
got the better matchup for New York to potentially win.
But I also don't know if it's my have worked
out better for you if Oklahoma City could have pulled
(09:03):
it off not knowing their injury situation, right, I mean
right right? But they almost beat the Spurs without I mean,
arguably one of their best players in Jada Jalen Williams,
And you know you had a you know, another guy
inn a j Mitchell that had stepped up and was
big time in his absence in your what was that
eight to oho start in the playoffs that you had
(09:26):
leading up to that Spurs series. So I think the
problem with trying to defend Wimby is going to be
a consistent thing from now until the time that he
decides to retire. But I mean, do you feel like
that maybe you're truly looking at this as a chance
for your Nicks to win the title? Did you get
the better matchup or would have beaten up under team.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Have been better.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
No, you think we got the better matchup.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
A bad time for Mitchell Robinson to break his finger
because he was going to be a big part of
guarding Wemby.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
There was no doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Trying to think that Karl Anthony Towns is gonna guard
Wemby and not get into foul trouble, that's unrealistic.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
So I'm a little worried about that.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Not that.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Look, you're never gonna slow down. Wemby only had twenty
two in game seven. You would have thought that that
would have been good enough to win for Glahoma City,
But everybody, all the starters had double digits in game seven.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
For San Antonio.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
So if we can old Wemby to like twenty points, Look,
the guy's awesome, to make no mistake about it. He's
gonna be tough to guard for Karl Anthony Towns.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
They're gonna have to mix it up a little bit.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
But the Knicks have such a great offense and they're
gonna push the ball up. I don't think they can
keep up with the Knicks. We should be able to
outscore them pretty easily.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
Oh, I like his confident confident party. Can remember san
Antonio had a bunch of guys that really hadn't done
too terribly much that stepped up and had big games.
Like I know, I barely even heard of the dude
that was hitting all the threes in Game seven on
Friday night. He's like, who is this guy? And where
did he come from? And you need that in the playoffs,
but you can't rely on that consistently. So I think
(11:01):
you ended up getting a better matchup Wimby though. Wimby
and what he has done with his star in New York,
I mean, we can have a ratings winner or what for.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
This, It's gonna be awesome.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
You know.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
We talked about this last night when I filled with
Jason Martin. Even de Sega brought it up. No weekend
game this first weekend, so that that kind of sucks.
I always love when it's gonna be like a Saturday
game or a Sunday game, but you know they put
the Sunday games at night.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
I don't know why.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
I would love to see the feedback or the numbers
on the best nights there at NBA Finals game.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
You can't.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
You're not gonna convince me not having a game on
Sunday is what's best for the NBA Finals.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
That's absolutely ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
It really should be you know, like around like seven
eight o'clock at night Eastern like they do, and that
way the West Coast could be able to watch them.
But no game Saturday, no game Sunday. The games in
New York will have to be like Monday Wednesday, So
that takes away from some of the fun. But at
least we'll be packed out there, all the lunatics on
Seventh Avenue move. That'd be great if you see me
(12:11):
out there when they show a camera shot of all
the idiots yelling and screaming and there I am and
my next thing and just yelling. How much fun is
that going to be?
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Huh?
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Dis Sager? Can we, as an idiot, Mary Matt, Can
we all as a group remind Arnie that he's never
gonna go to any of these states?
Speaker 5 (12:28):
That's great?
Speaker 4 (12:29):
As awesome as that at off ever, it sounds awesome. Yeah,
I would love to see you out there. You'd be
yelling and screaming with your Knicks fans. But I mean,
how many years out have you told us that you're
going to things and you would never end up going.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
We're not in the finals. This is the first time
we've been in the finals since nineteen ninety nine. What
do you watch first time? You know, we haven't won
that championship in fifth over fifty years, So I mean,
where am I gonna go? The Dolphins haven't been to
a Super Bowls.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
There's no for me to go. For crying out loud,
I have won.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
Suggestion of how you're gonna get a Knicks Championship T shirt?
What's that after they lose the finals, you make sure
cheap to grab one of the shirts before they send
it off to Guatemala, And now that he is in
the US, it never gets sold.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Here there you go to some third world country the rest.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
Of your life, you could wear a Knicks Championship shirt.
By the way, as far as the TV ratings, most
of the NBA Finals have averaged for the full series
the last five years about ten to twelve million viewers.
This Western Conference Finals was already averaging ten million viewers
through the first five games Spurs against the Thunder, So
(13:39):
then you throw in the Knicks on top of that
against Wemby. Yeah, I'm expecting big numbers.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Oh, it's it's gonna be awesome. And you said fourteen
million for the Western Conference finals.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
Ten million viewers through the first five games. Most finals
were averaging ten to twelve during the last five years.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
How much more it's going to be now?
Speaker 5 (14:02):
There was a Game seven, remember, so that was the
outlier that was sixteen million for that one night when
Oklahoma City won the title a year ago against Indiana.
But the series itself averaged ten point two million.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Yeah, are you a bummed that everybody all bummed out
down there in Oklahoma City? Blank? Is it like the
everything's falling apart and you got to rebuild? It feels
like everybody just stumping on Oklahoma City, you know.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
Yeah, And it's kind of weird, to be honest with you.
I feel like I'm a caller to the show right now. Hi,
Barney Steve, first time, longtime kriston Oklahoma City is a
fust Yeah it is. This is not going to be
a fun off season in the court of public opinions
for chet Holmgrens because Dan Antonio isn't going anywhere, and
(14:52):
that's whom you have to go through now to win
the West and chet Holmgren's unplayable against you know, he
just he can't defend them. And I don't know what
that they just invest in long term and d but
there's gonna be a lot of questions about him. It's
kind of wild because you know, I find you know,
I'm a very cynical fan, right, I'm someone that doesn't
(15:17):
like for people to get too overly confident, too arrogant.
But then, which is wild since I work with you,
But then I also don't want people to be like
too negative. Right, there's one thing to be cynical, there's
one thing to just be downright mean, and right now
it's been mean streets for Chet Hungris. I feel like
the fan base got a little spoiled, right, and then
(15:40):
whenever things got a little bit sideways, it became fire
this guy and cut the sky and we got to
trade him. So I don't see Oklahoma City making a
lot of moves, like everyone tried to lay out that
they're gonna go try to make a play for Giannis
or try to move up in the draft. I could
see that if they are enamored with Boozer, but literally
(16:02):
their second All Throw, their second All Star, their second
All World guy in Jalen Williams had an injured hamstring
and couldn't go and Sam near won the series still so.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
And they won regular season.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Tell them, Steve, tell them, I agree. I think the
problem though, guys, is everyone looked at how that series
played out and how well Shape played in a majority
of the games, you know, when they're three wins, and
even in the one loss, he was pretty good, and
they realized, you know, these these are days that you know,
(16:36):
even though he's young, got a lot of time left.
You don't like missing those opportunities, and you felt like
with this nucleus, they're going to be around for a while,
but you also hate missing what felt like an opportunity
to potentially go went back to back Tide. So everyone
is very grumpy, aren't he. That's the word I would do,
is they're very grumpy.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Right, by the way, are you offended? Like everybody else
that sga A is he could have an input on
some of the moves in the offseason, and he said, no,
I'm gonna let that to the great. Uh you know,
I'm gonna leave you that to the great Sam Presty.
Everyone's like, oh, look that's speaking about Everybody was like
all offended that he didn't have an opinion on that.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
You know, well, but here's the day, I don't I
we'll see in time. You just never know about guys,
because I probably would have been saying the same thing
about Kevin Durant during his first couple of seasons in
Oklahoma City. You just get the sense that SGA's built
a little different, if that makes any sense at all.
(17:37):
He doesn't seem to be a guy that craves more
power or more of the spotlight. He appears to be
a guy that just likes the ball and he likes
the team that he's with. I mean, my favorite thing
that I learned about this Thunder team last year is
nobody on the team knew how to open the bottles
of champagne. They had it turned to Alice Caruso in
(17:58):
Artstein to figure out how do you open these days?
So they're really truly, I mean, they're a group that's
barring some wild trade that impacts the core of this team.
I can't see shake Gil Jess Alexander wanting two or
having an opinion. And why would you argue with San
Presci I mean, right now, like what happened in Oklahoma
City and San Antonio, can we say ARENI? Those are
(18:20):
the only two real tanks that we look back at
that have really worked.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Oh absolutely, and they're going to be around for a
long long time.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
I mean.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
And also San Antonio did it with the draft. We
were talking about this last night. Six of their members
have been draft picks from twenty to nineteen on. So
obviously they've done real well. You know, I want to
come back well, obviously, wrap up game seven, get ready
to talk about how the Knicks will dominate the Spurs.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Are you back at your studio?
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Are you still driving along the crazy highways of Oklahoma.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
I'll need a segment to get to my studio and
then I'll be ready with all of the reactions from
Oklahoma City and all the sadness as I just drove
through the factory of sadness, which is downtown Oklahoma City
where fans are still upset over last night. But I'll
tell you this much, I'm I'll be ready to go.
We'll be rolling all night long, and I'm this is
(19:13):
Chris from now Norman signing off. Thanks for taking my call, Arnie.
I'll talk to you a bit.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Yeah, thank you very much, christ for the phone call.
You know, I used to take phone calls all the
time when I first started this business. To Sega, we
would count. I would take like thirty to forty calls
in an hour. Like after I hang up out people
after a minute or two, I would actually, you can't
do this nowadays. To get people I didn't like off
(19:40):
the phone, I would play a gun sound effect.
Speaker 5 (19:43):
Oh Michael, Yeah, I'm serious.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
Yeah, I don't get Can you imagine doing that now?
Could you imagine?
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (19:50):
Take my change to the vetter in society in general.
I was just talking with somebody over lunch today how
NFL concussions they're treated now compared to not Batman years ago.
I saw a story this past week if some guy
talking about how his appearance in a championship game NFL
and that he stayed in with a head injury and
literally does not remember to this day the last five
(20:11):
minutes of the game.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Wow. Wow.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
So we'll come back.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
Here from the older era, you know, the Knicks were
champions that kind of older.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
That is all right, we'll come back.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
I do want to wrap up what happened in Game
seven between OKC and San Antonio.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
Where do they go from there?
Speaker 2 (20:28):
We'll get you ready for the Obviously, the Championship starts
on Wednesday. It feels like it's like a Super Bowl
where you got two weeks in between. But it will
get here soon enough, so we'll get to all that. Uh,
Chris Plankcarney Spanier, Steve the Sega, the whole Cruisier right
here on Fox Sports A Radio.
Speaker 8 (20:48):
This is Rob Parker, and I'm here with an important
public service announcement. Whatever you do, do not listen to
the Paulie and Tony Fusco Show.
Speaker 5 (20:57):
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Asked me to do a promo, but I'm here to
do with no Mo.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
As in, don't listen to this show.
Speaker 8 (21:04):
No Mo, the host of two fools from Philly who
have the dumbest takes ever in all of sports talk.
And you know, if I'm saying that, they must really
be bad. I have no idea why Fox Sports Radio
picked this up, but I know where to put it
down in the trash can. So please don't listen to
the Paulie and Tony Fusco Show.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
No way, no how.
Speaker 9 (21:29):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio

Speaker 2 (21:40):
All right, good evening everyone, Chris Plank, Garney Spaniard right
here on Fox Sports Radio, right here on the Fox
Sports Radio studios. You know, Chris Plank said one thing
that got me thinking when he said he's never worked
with nice Arnie the Sager. Well, I don't think people understand.
(22:01):
You know, every year we see the same winners. We
got the Chief fans that win pretty much every year,
or the Patriot fans used to win every year, and
then remember when the Golden State Warrior fans were winning
in the NBA. My team's never win since I've been
forget about since I've been doing the show. My team's
never win.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
The last time my team.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Won was in college basketball was nineteen ninety seven.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Now, sure the Mets.
Speaker 5 (22:28):
Have won for time, right for Arizona.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Yeah, against Kentucky. Now, the Mets have been the World
Series that went to the World Series in twenty fifteen,
but they lost the Royals to the Royals, and they
lost to the Yankees in two thousand. So the last
time the Mets.
Speaker 5 (22:44):
Won one years for the Mets.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
So the last time the one it was was nineteen eighty.
Speaker 5 (22:48):
Over fifty years for the Knicks, Yes, and the Dolphins
haven't won a playoff game since.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Two thousand.
Speaker 5 (22:57):
Maybe have they won one this century.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
It's been a while, So my team's never never win.
Speaker 5 (23:03):
And this is under the context of the finals matchup
that we have coming up in the NBA. The league
is gonna crown an eight different champion in the last
eight seasons. It's been that kind of variety in the
NBA for this past roughly decade, I know.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
But the Spurs have.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
Had their they're they're they're they're shot for a while
now with with Robinson and Duncan and those guys, they've
had their.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
Chance in the context of fifty years. Yes, but I'm
saying the Knicks are just now getting on the train
when actually it's been almost a decade now that it's
a completely new champion every year.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
You see, people don't understand when they're fans of the
Chiefs and the Patriots and the.
Speaker 5 (23:45):
Eagles, Golden State, Cleveland before and.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
Then, and they're just winning and they take it for
granted when the rest of us slubs. We never even
come closed a wedding, We're just like never.
Speaker 5 (23:56):
Sounds like Oklahoma City is already taking it for granted.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
You know what, Exac you you know what it's like.
It's when we go to the bar and your and
your buddies are like tens and they always get the
hot looking girl. You always go by yourself. It's like
that all they once again, you're going home yourself. All
the years of never winning, all the I mean, think
(24:20):
about that, losing year and year, all this time doing
the show for fourteen years with Chris Plake, never winning,
not even close. Always have to go disappointed. You know,
was like, how did your team do?
Speaker 5 (24:34):
Yeah, we lost, And by the way I looked it up,
it was the Dolphins two thousand seasons, the last time
they won a playoff game.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
Great.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Great, So my team's never even come close to winning
until now, until now for the first time, and they're
in the finals since the Mets won in eighty six. No,
it's sure. I'm in a good mood. Sure, I'm excited
(25:03):
to saga. My gosh, you know, I really should go
down to Manhattan and hang out at Madison Square. Guard
I as you go to like the viewing party.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
Empty threat.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
It is an empty threat. I gotta do it. I
gotta do it. I got I have my Yeah, I
have the I have my Nick New York Knicks shooting shirt,
not not just the T shirt, like the ones where
you're shooting warm up with. I don't know where I
got it, but it's like, yeah, the one you saw,
the one that the one that was the button down
(25:37):
that you it's like sweats. It's like warm up sweats.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
I love that.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
I'm just trying to It's a little pre emptive strike here,
thank you, Steve. Don't know where you're going with this, No, but.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
You got see your teams have won, You've had You've
got the Lakers, the Dodgers. You've gone through, You've you've
had your winds. You know, it's like, oh, no, big deal,
What are you making a big deal about it? Because
my team's never even come close.
Speaker 5 (26:02):
In fact, in twenty twenty, the Lakers and Dodgers won
titles in back to back months with the different schedule
that year.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
You see, That's why I hate you guys. You you
don't know what I'm coming from. You have no idea
the pain every year year.
Speaker 5 (26:20):
Some people in this office are Dodger fans, some are
angel fans. It was just that's that was their selection.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Okay, but you know, maybe they if you're rooting for
the Angels. You're probably still pulling for the Lakers though.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
Yeah maybe so.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
Yeah, so you got that going for you.
Speaker 5 (26:36):
Well, no, once again, some people in the office are
Lakers fans and some are Clippers fans. Nah, so there's
that the Clippers have still never made the finals.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
You show me an Angel clash Clipper fan and what
they don't root for UCLA and USC even you got
the colleges. You've had to winners there too, right, Yeah, okay,
then at least John will know what are younna tell me?
There Diego State fans.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
What are you doing to me?
Speaker 5 (27:02):
Was just on Yes, he's a fan and Dodger fan
and a Lakers Yes.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
There you go, there you go. So you you have
no idea the suffering, especially out here in New York.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
I mean think of the Jet fans, the Giant fans.
Speaker 5 (27:17):
That the van's gone the longest without making the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Now, yeah, absolutely people. You have no idea how people
are just going crazy out here.
Speaker 5 (27:27):
By the way, there's a Giants note literally tonight from
Jordan Schultz because just a couple of days ago the
Giants lost wide receiver gunner Old Chefsky to a tron
Achilles he reports the Giants on Monday will have Odell
Beckham Junior in for a workout. Interesting little rais of
the eyebrow there for the.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
New Where was he?
Speaker 2 (27:47):
Where was he being rumored to go before?
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Then?
Speaker 2 (27:50):
Odell Beckham? I thought, it's just.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
Now, it's funny. They they played a wait and see
and now they see they just lost a guy on
a non contact injury.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
All right, I want to get to what happened in
Game seven. We'll get to that a little bit. Plank's
gonna join us soon. First, though, take look at what's trending.
A busy, busy Sunday night with all the college baseball
going on, the softball and all that.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
Let's check it with the Sagacy with hake it. What's
going on to Saga.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
Very busy, even though in the NHL the Stanley Cup
Final doesn't start till Tuesday, Carolina host Vegas, and the
NBA Finals on start till Wednesday. This first. Yeah, they'll
host that next team that's won eleven in a row.
In Planks Houner, We're gonna lead with NASCAR because that's
still going on tonight at Nashville. It's gonna be a
long night it's a near three hour race as it is,
(28:41):
and they're only about two thirds of the way through.
Denny Hamlin is in the lead. Hamlin over Chase Briscoe
at the moment. Today on Fox TV Indy Cars Detroit
Grand Prix went to alex Poalow. That series is off
to Illinois next week. Juaque Neeman was the Live Golf
winner in South Korea in a playoff. It's his eighth
career Vicy We brought this up on the prior show.
(29:02):
You know, people got on the golfers who went to
live golf. Jokee. Neeman has cleared eighty million dollars in
Live golfer eighty million after that, take the money and run,
my goodness. Russell Henley took the live the PGA Golf event,
I should say in Fort Worth in a playoff. Nieman
won in South Korean a playoff for Live number three.
(29:24):
Ced Vegas Fiantec upset at the French Open in the
fourth round. US Mens Soccer won its exhibition three to
two over Senegal in Charlotte. Attendance was fifty eight thousand.
Christian Polistic with a goal and an assist. The Americans
outshot him fifteen to seven today. The last tune up
game for the World Cup is this Saturday. It sold
out Chicago Soldier Field and exhibition with the USA against Germany.
(29:47):
The Germans just won an exhibition for nothing against Finland.
Defender Chris Richards of the US was out today with
an ankle injury. We'll see if he's healthy enough for
next weekend and then for the World Cup actually the
games after that. USA Soccer had named veteran Tim Reim
team captain yesterday. Veteran defender Major League Soccer is on
break for the summer World Cup. The USA roster was
(30:10):
revealed this past week and New York Chi Arena is
on it despite barely playing this year. Diego Luna is out.
Only half the team is players that actually were at
the last US World Cup four years ago. The Americans
opened their World Cup schedule at the La Rams Stadium Friday,
June twelfth, a Friday night game on Fox TV against Paraguay.
(30:31):
I cannot wait. As I've said before on the show,
just don't embarrass us. We know you're not the best
in the world. For some reason, You're still ranked in
the top twenty five.
Speaker 6 (30:41):
In the.
Speaker 5 (30:43):
First games in La at the Rams Stadium, which we'll
be hosting the Super Bowl again this are you going
to the game? I am not currently.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Can you give me crap? Look at you.
Speaker 5 (30:52):
It's Knicks prices for that. I'm not kidding. No, the
Knicks were one thousand dollars for upper level, oh more
than that for the finals. It is now I'm saying,
last round, for the USA opener, it's one thousand dollars
to sit upper level at a seventy thousand.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
I'll give you the company American Express card.
Speaker 5 (31:10):
You go on US, okay, if there were such a thing.
And then the game two for the Americans will be
at the Seattle Seahawks Stadium the next week against Australia,
which just lost to tune up to Mexico won nothing
last night at the Rose Bowl. By the way, over
seventy thousand at the Rose Bowl for that last night.
Brazil played in Rio today, seventy two thousand fans there
for a six to two exhibition win over Panama. A
(31:33):
lot of NFL stadiums, of course, in use for the
coming World Cup, which means grass fields that they've had
to put down, and no doubt the NFL owners will
simply recycle the grass field and not keep it for
the NFL season, which I'm sure will infuriate the players union,
but that's how it is. Iran moved its training camp
from the US to Mexico, going from Tucson to Tijuana.
(31:54):
Iran's first two World Cup games are in Los Angeles.
There was one WNBA game today lost Vegas, a winner
at Golden State ninety one to eighty one. Asia Wilson
twenty eight points, fifteen rebounds, four block shots. Major League
Baseball Sunday night game at Saint Louis went to the Cardinals,
who led the Cubs five to nothing in the third inning.
Five won the final. LA Dodgers nine to one over Philadelphia.
(32:17):
The Phils J t rail Muto left with a bruised
rest after being hit by a pitch the win to
LA's Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The World Series MVP had ten strikeouts
in five and a third innings. The Dodgers scored in
every inning after the first, including three solo homers. That
sounds impressive, but the Giants scored in all but one
inning today and wound up a nineteen to six winner
(32:39):
at Colorado. Williadamis a Grand Slam. Rafael Devers four hits,
four runs scored. The Rockies not doing well again. No.
Their record twenty two to thirty eight, tied with Detroit
for the worst in the Major leagues. Washington for to
two over the Padres. San Diego is the by far
the worst hitting team in the Major leagues so far.
(32:59):
And Manny Minchau window for four today, he's betting one
seventy four. Nice tomorrow is June first, Machado is betting
one seventy four. The Yankee scored thirteen runs in the
top of the third.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
I saw that whole half inning. Wise, did you really
that I was sitting around doing nothing? I might let
me put on the Yankee Gabe a little bit, And
I just sat there for forty three minutes watching that
whole aff fitting. I couldn't believe it.
Speaker 5 (33:23):
Thirteen runs with not a single homer in the inning,
thirteen to eight. The final over the A's in West Sacramento,
and Seattle won at six straight game ten innings, three
to two over Arizona. And we close with this from football.
Former Boise State kicker Jonah Dalmas is in the UFL
Spring Football League and today as the regular season ended.
(33:43):
He kicked a fifty yard field goal for the Columbus Aviators,
a fifty eight yard field goal, I should say later
he hit from sixty one yards out, which apparently in
that league is a four point field goal from that distance,
So that was the longest field goal of the UFL's
season officially. But Columbus finish is dead last three and
seven record, Orlando at eight and two wins. It's an
(34:07):
eight team league the UFL. The top four go to
the postseason that starts next weekend the game on Fox
TV tonight. Louisville won the finale at Columbus forty two
to twenty seven. Orlando won yesterday at DC. Orlando finishes
eight and two, but they will be unable to host
the playoff game next week because their stadium is unavailable,
(34:28):
so instead they'll be playing at last place Columbus's stadium,
since that team's eliminated, the place is readily available.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Back to you, thanks, Steve, all right, it's ARNI in
playing okay? Hey is? Yeah? You know, I'm sorry. Who
would have thought you'd have a game that would go
that long? You know? Who? Was me? I was thinking
of it? Guess what I forgot to do, Arnie, Prepare, prepare.
That's right, one hundred percent. I'll run laps after the
show tonight. You know something that I heard you say.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Now, I want to make this very clear. I don't
think that you're an overly downtrodden person. I think you're
usually pretty positive. I think the problem is when you
get overly positive, overly upbeat, and not just like hetching
a bat. You're sold right now that the Knicks are
winning the championship, and then you're gonna act all depressed
(35:23):
when it doesn't happen, when you're not looking at reality
like that.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
That's not gonna happen this time, Chris, That's not gonna
happen this time.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
I don't think that it's I don't think you know what.
It's not your fault. It's not your fault. You're just
a bigger fan than all of us.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
I am that you don't understand that. That's all.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
You just can't take it when your team might come
up a little bit short. All right, listen, I'm picking
you guys, though. I'm not going negative or it getst
you here. Isn't that what you want? Don't you want
more people on your Bandwagon telling you how great the
Knicks are.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
I do I feel like we're going to take one,
if not both, games in San Antonio.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Games in San Antonio.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
They don't scare me at all. No, that team doesn't
scare me that far. Yeah, no player, no team fears.
I feared no player, no team.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Right now, Well, I got some victor winbin Yama highlights.
I'm gonna suit you when we come back, which, by
the way, we can go back because Arnie is very
guilty of some knee cherk reactions. You do remember what
you said after his very first exhibition game.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Right, No, I don't remember.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Yeah, you and you weren't alone. Oh, he's not going
to be able to do it. He's terrible looking at
him watching summer league games engage in his future. All right,
let's preview the NBA Finals next, plus a little NFL
to dive into on a Sunday night with Arnie and
Plank right here on Fox Sports Radio. You're listening to
(36:47):
Fox Sports Radio Radio. Welcome back. It's Arnie and Plank
here on Fox Sports Radio. By the way, how was
your week, Arnie? Anything exciting going on? Howard? Things with
your with Stanley? Is that your Wilson. Wilson's a dog. Yeah, no,
Stanley was the old dog. Wilson is good.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
My wife is taught Wilson how to like rings. Like
the bell went and wants to go outside, so as
it pooped in the house the last couple of days,
so that's a good thing. So that's a great sign, right, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
smart dog. I didn't think she was gonna be able
to pull it off. But it rings, the bell goes outside,
and and all goods there. And now, oh, I'm taking
(37:24):
up a new sport starting tomorrow morning. I'm gonna I
hate to admit this. Yeah, I'm doing the pick a
ball thing. I'm sorry about that. Yeah, good luck.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
Yeah, I bought my paddle yesterday. I'm angsided.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
You know.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
I want to dominate, But even old ladies are good
at this thing, so I'm not sure I'm gonna like it,
to be honest.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
I mean, you're so crushing it at basketball. Why would
you ever move away from hoops?
Speaker 3 (37:47):
No, I'm gonna continue. I was shooting the ball good
last week.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
We just we have to go to another gym, so
we only get it like twice a week.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
During the summer.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
So we're trying to pick up other stuff like pick
a ball and stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
So what you're telling me is that you're adding to
your exercise routine with pickleball.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
Yeah, for some reason, with all this exercise, I've gained
five pounds. I don't know how that happened. It must
be what I'm eating after I work out and stuff.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
Well, I mean, listen, we all love you, Arnie, but
it seems as if every single time that you put
your your picture of what you're eating out on the
x it's always something that's not really good for him.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
I was two thirty five, just you know, like last week. Now,
all of a sudden, I'm like two forty five. I
don't know what the hell happened.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
You're beefing up, man, You're beefing up.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
Must be all that muscle, is what it is.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
You want to hit a couple of these XCES submissions today.
I know, and I know we're running out of time
here and now were number one. Ralph by the way,
at Ralphie gets news. I don't know who you are,
but I get the biggest kick out of him because
he so loves when you drive, and he's so on
top of when you drive and when you don't drive,
(38:58):
have you noticed this? No, this is ad Ralphie gets News.
I think he's my favorite follow on X. He writes,
Plankster should let Arnie drive the rest of the night
while you're doing the show on the phone heading back
to the home studio. I mean, Arnie's at an all
time high right now because his knicks are in the finals.
You can drive all you want, Arnie. I can be
a passenger princess on this show.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
Passag your princess.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
I just yeah, the first time in a long time,
I'm just like, you know what, love playing drive.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
I might as well enjoy the.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
Scenery as my team goes into the NBA Finals. I
hope everybody's gonna enjoy the finals as much as I am.
That's what I want to know.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
Well, I'm pretty sure you are. Well, I'll tell you.
Isn't Oklahoma City thunder fans not going to They're not
going to be very happy about it.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
Everybody's picking on ched Holmgren. Is that crazy or what?
Speaker 1 (39:46):
Well? Speaking of that, mister nobody, my biggest gripe with
Cheded Holmgren is that he's too nice. He won't bang
bodies enough. He doesn't hit enough, he's too content to
take threes. He plays too often, like Chris STAPs or Dirk.
(40:08):
You buy that.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
No, but you see the problem is, and I don't
have it in front of me right now. I know
we're short on time. Yeah, Home Grin is gonna get
as much money next show year as five players on
the Thunder.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
I can't remember that. I know Williams was one of
I can't remember the whole five, ken Rich Williams.
Speaker 1 (40:27):
Yeah. There's a lot of guys that matter a lot
to this team.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
Yeah, and they're making the same as Home Grid Home
Grins starting the first of a five year deal.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
Nobody's gonna touch that guy with a ten football, Chris.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
When you know that one of your biggest hurdle slash
obstacles over the next ever is going to be san
Antonio and you've invested that kind of money and a
guy that appears to be unplayable against him, that's a
major problem. All Right, that's the easiest hour I've ever
had to do on this show. I'll start doing some
(40:59):
heavy lifting when we come back. Todd Furman around the
corner on Fox Sports Radio. Don't listening to Fox Sports
Radio Radio here we go, Hour two. It's Arnie in
Plank here on Fox Sports Radio. Arnie is now a
pickleball player, Well, not officially yet, right? Uh?
Speaker 6 (41:19):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (41:19):
Is he not showing up for this hour because he's
mad at me that I didn't show?
Speaker 3 (41:23):
By the way, is there an official wardrobe I gotta wear?
Speaker 9 (41:25):
Or what?
Speaker 1 (41:26):
I thought? You were blowing me off since I didn't
show up to start the show.
Speaker 3 (41:29):
No, I didn't have my mic turned up.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
I'm sorry. No, do whatever you want? I mean, I
don't know.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
It's pickleball collard shirts?
Speaker 2 (41:36):
Do you have to wear like white shorts stuff like that?
Speaker 1 (41:40):
I don't know. Ian do we know any pickleball? Are
you a pickleball player? I'm not.
Speaker 10 (41:44):
I've there's plenty of it out here in La though,
So I see plenty of it.
Speaker 3 (41:48):
I do have a headband and goggles.
Speaker 10 (41:50):
Yeah, plenty of people wear all that stuff, like arm sleeves.
So Arnie, you're gonna need all that.
Speaker 1 (41:55):
So I want to point out something on Roman numeral
number two two Roman numeral number two, Yeah, referring to
the Knicks as America's team. Yes, you feel like everybody's
behind the Knicks and rooting for him.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
Here You know what's so funny is I brought this
up to Jason Martin last night and he gave a
good laugh, and I said, I'm not kidding around. As
matter of fact, the Cowboys of America's team. You give
me another team in football, baseball, basketball that's more of
America's team right now than the New York Knicks. And
(42:33):
you're not going to find anybody. Oklahoma City's the past champion.
They're not very likable. I don't think people are embracing
san Antonio to that extent like they are. The New
York Knicks are not even close. NFL people have kind
of turned on the Chiefs, They've turned on the Patriots.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
You know, really, there's.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
Only one team that people are starting to embrace, and
that's the New York Knicks. The New York Knicks are
now America's team. Can you think of another team right
now that everybody kind of is gravitating to, even though
they're not a fan.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
Of I don't think the Knicks are America's team. I thin,
who is that? Well? I don't think there is one.
Speaker 3 (43:14):
What kind of answers that well?
Speaker 1 (43:15):
I mean, what the NBA team is universally loved and
beloved right now, I don't think so, dude. You guys
kind of ruin that for the rest of us. No
offense to you and Jason Smith and all the other
Knicks fans, but you're kind of a little unbearable, and
I think it will take a quick couple of wins
(43:37):
in his finals to make it even worse. I think
you've got to be more of an underdog to truly
be America's team. Okay.
Speaker 2 (43:44):
One, we're an underdog almost by a two to one
count here.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
But you're New York. Two.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
Could I correct you on something? Okay, I'm sure, no disrespect.
Let me say this again, no disrespect to Jason Smith.
But there's two types of New Yorkers.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
There's New Yorkers that actually live here in the in
the Northeast and ones that pretend they're New Yorkers and
live in California. Okay, those are not real New Yorkers.
They're they're not real New Yorkers like the rest of
us that live here, you know, in the New York,
(44:24):
New Jersey, Connecticut tri state area.
Speaker 11 (44:27):
Okay, we were both. I was both, so you can't talk.
But now I'm back barely. Now I'm back, so that
there's two types. And I live in here, I'm among
my people here.
Speaker 2 (44:43):
In the Northeast.
Speaker 3 (44:45):
I just want you to know that.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
So, no, no disrespect to Jason Smith, but I mean,
come on, how much of a Knicks fan can you
enjoy when you're when you're having like seventy eight degrees
and it's sunny and and you're out in LA and
your T shirt?
Speaker 3 (44:57):
Come on, now, really be honest.
Speaker 1 (44:59):
Well, I mean it is summer, so it's going to
get warmer regardless. But okay, okay, if that's what you
need to feel a little better about it. Even though
you did live in LA and you went to Palisades
High School, ye, Now all of a sudden, you live
in Connecticut, connect Ticket, Yeah, and you're you're talking trash
about what it takes to be a real Knicks fan.
Speaker 2 (45:19):
Okay, a real New Yorker, you know, take the subway,
get you know, going back and forth, having people yell
at you, you know, stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (45:27):
That's that's what it's.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
Like to be a real New Yorker.
Speaker 1 (45:30):
All right, Well, can guys, by.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
The way, can I can I bring up a real
quick story. Did you see the story about the guy
I think it was like in the what.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
Nineteen or not nineteen, like about eight years ago?
Speaker 1 (45:42):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (45:42):
Who sold his New York Knicks fandom?
Speaker 1 (45:46):
You seeing that story?
Speaker 3 (45:48):
Yeah? He was eight years ago. I think I have
it right here.
Speaker 5 (45:52):
Someone bought a fandom?
Speaker 3 (45:54):
No, he sold, well, yeah, someone sold.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
Somebody was dumb enough to buy.
Speaker 5 (45:57):
Someone bought a New York Knicks fandom.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
Yeah, they had They had a bidding war.
Speaker 5 (46:03):
Can't you just become a fan?
Speaker 2 (46:06):
Well, you know, but he wanted to sell it on
eBay or something.
Speaker 5 (46:10):
I'm so lost.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
No, he sold his fan of being the New York Knicks.
Is that hard to understand? What am I not explaining?
Speaker 3 (46:20):
Right?
Speaker 1 (46:20):
He said?
Speaker 3 (46:21):
I got the story.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
He after eight years, he sold his fan hood on
eBay because his team was so bad. Okay, So eventually
he got three thousand, four hundred dollars for his fandom.
He became a Laker fan. Part of the process was
(46:43):
he had to he had to burn three Nicks memorabilia
and he had to buy like two or three Laker
stuff and become a Laker fan that way.
Speaker 3 (46:57):
So that's who he went to.
Speaker 2 (46:59):
They in him now eight years later, and he says
he has no regrets. For selling his fandom and that
he's happy to being a Laker fan.
Speaker 1 (47:08):
Some dope paid three thousand, four hundred and fifty bucks
on it.
Speaker 2 (47:12):
Yes, yeah, the auction actually attracted bids and reportly sold
his fandom to a fan of the La Lakers.
Speaker 1 (47:22):
His name was Evan pearl Mutter.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
Yeah, that's it. That's it.
Speaker 1 (47:27):
This is from twenty eighteen, and he auctioned off on eBay.
The auction was titled Infuriated New York Knicks fan has
had enough selling my fanhood?
Speaker 2 (47:42):
Would you ever do that? I mean, if anybody would
do it, you could, which are raiders? I could add enough?
I mean I could do it with my dophins, I guess,
but I would never do that.
Speaker 5 (47:53):
Fanhood is dangerously close to manhood and you don't want
to sell your.
Speaker 1 (47:56):
Sell According to an ebase person at the time, the
company CEO was actually tempted to bid on the auction
and force him to remain with the Knicks because I
don't know if Devin want Wedding is still the CEO.
But he's a longtime Knicks fan. But down He did
(48:21):
offer four tickets to a game from stub Hub for
Pearl Mutter and the person that bought the auction, per
a company spokesman. So yeah, I would sell my fandom
because I wouldn't stop being a fan. I mean, is
anyone gonna go check him on this?
Speaker 3 (48:34):
I mean, you gotta go along with the rules.
Speaker 2 (48:37):
Assuming you have to go along with the rules, and
you can't just take the money and pocket it. Would
you ever do something like that?
Speaker 1 (48:43):
You know? All right? So we have a couple of
questions whenever it comes to your assessment that the Knicks
are now America's team. Yeah, uh, Colin Wrights, question from
your Canadian listener? Are the Knicks? Even the most beloved
of all New York's sports giants are the Yankees? I
(49:03):
think they. I think they might be number one, like
the history, more more beloved than maybe. I don't know.
I'm not a New Yorker, so I can't say. But
people are more thirsty for their success, it seems, than
they are with the Nicks, Mets, and you know, Islanders, Rangers,
whoever else you want to throw in that mix.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
Really, the only teams that you could compare would be
the Yankees, Jetson Giants. Jetson Giants forget about it, you know,
even though they were once popular, not now.
Speaker 3 (49:34):
They're far from.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
America's team, to be honest with you, and the Yankees
could make a pretty good run out of it if
there's going to be an America's team, you know, if
the Yankees caught fire. But as of now, it's certainly
the New York Knicks, I mean.
Speaker 1 (49:48):
The college point row. It's just in New York in general.
Like who would be the most beloved in New York?
Like you take, Let's just strip it all down and
look at the team that New Yorkers would consider to
be number one. Is it the Knicks or is it
the Yankees? You're talking, You're talking like mister New York here,
(50:12):
I mean Jason Smith.
Speaker 2 (50:14):
It's there's no doubt over the Yankees, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (50:20):
Yeah, I don't. I do not speak for Arnie. I
take it that he knows what he's talking about, but yes,
his is what it is.
Speaker 3 (50:25):
I speak for all New Yorkers when I when I say.
Speaker 1 (50:28):
That Russov is the goat rights, Arnie's Arnie's talking about carpetbaggers.
A carpetbagger is a historical American term for opportunistic outsiders
who move to a new region to exploit local situations
for financial, political, or social gain. So are you calling
Jason Smith and the other LA based and guess I
(50:51):
mean West Coast based Knicks fans. You're calling them all carpetbaggers?
Is that what you're doing?
Speaker 3 (50:57):
No, I would I would never say that.
Speaker 2 (51:00):
To their face, just behind their back, just you know,
do not behind their back.
Speaker 5 (51:05):
Because we're behind closed doors right now, that's right.
Speaker 1 (51:08):
I still cannot. I did not know that was a
thing about how you were more in New York because
you live in Connecticut than the guys in LA.
Speaker 2 (51:16):
But oh, come on, how did you not know? That's
not a thing? What do you what do you nuts?
Come on, so you know you're not like a bigger
Oklahoma fan than some guy that says he's an Oklahoma
fan and he lives in Alaska.
Speaker 1 (51:28):
Yeah, I mean just because I live here. I don't
think that necessarily makes me a bigger fan.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
I think it does.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
I think it does. I have more access. How much
time do you He might spend all his time on
Sooner message boards, and he might have a subscription all
the Sooner recruiting websites. I don't How do you know
that Jason Smith's not actually Brunson's the king on the
Knick's message boards or whatever it might be.
Speaker 2 (51:53):
There's just too many New Yorkers now on the West
Coast in Los Angeles. It's like every third person you
meet has in New York accent and now lives out there.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
Every third person in New York in LA. It's pretty impressive, man,
if it was that much, uh Rudy, I feel bad
for plank Habit to work with Arnie tonight, No Oklahoma
City in the NBA Finals and Arnie thinking the Knicks
are going to beat the Spurs San Antonio and six.
Speaker 2 (52:20):
No, I don't see that happening. I'm still debating. I'm
looking to see how much it's gonna cost me to
get good seats in the lower ball Probably just charge
it to the company if I do that.
Speaker 1 (52:30):
You already said that the boss offered you tickets and
you said, no, not good seats.
Speaker 2 (52:35):
I need good seats. I can't be sitting up on top.
You gotta buy me the fifty thousand dollars seeds.
Speaker 1 (52:40):
I'm sorry, fifty thousand dollars.
Speaker 2 (52:44):
That's how me Costan sit behind Big Joe Fat.
Speaker 1 (52:46):
Joe, and that's like two producers. What are you trying
to do Man's.
Speaker 3 (52:51):
That's more than that.
Speaker 2 (52:52):
That's more two rows behind Fat Joe's got to be
about one hundred though. Song No, I didn't even know
who the hell he was till I just now I
know he was an actor. I had no idea who
l he was.
Speaker 1 (53:06):
He's not an actor, he was a singer. Okay, let's
move on anyway. According to Arnie, the Knicks are now
America's team. If you agree, I'd love to hear from him.
Speaker 2 (53:18):
Yeah, but don't give me a bogus answer like he did.
Get give me another team other than the Cowboys, but
America's team.
Speaker 1 (53:24):
I don't think there is one. I don't think there
is an America's team right now. America's team is a
name the Cowboys gave to themselves, and then everyone kind
of latched onto it because they were successful and they
had the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders. And I always to think.
Speaker 2 (53:41):
The quarterback years ago, I used to think the Golden
State Warriors were America's team. The Lakers at one point
used to be America's team. The Dodgers could one time
take a flyer that they were America's team. Same thing
with the Yankees. Now it's the New York Knicks.
Speaker 1 (53:56):
Turn.
Speaker 3 (53:57):
They're America's team. They're everybody's darling right now.
Speaker 2 (54:00):
Unless you can give me a better team than everybody's
pulling for, which you can't, that's all.
Speaker 3 (54:04):
I'll give them the title.
Speaker 1 (54:06):
I don't think that we are universal and pulling for anyone.
Have you watched the news recently? By the way, the
Dodgers have won eight of their last ten, and Dave
Roberts has saved his job at least for a while,
as they are seventeen games over five hundred, only two
games behind the best record in the National League. But
I don't know, man, you say America's team, I understand
(54:26):
what you're saying. Who everyone is rooting for? Right? Who
do you want to see win? Last week you were
selling me on win beIN Yama.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
And you know what every and I sent you one
of those maps, forty nine of the fifty states other
than Oklahoma, we're pulling for the San Antonio Spurs.
Speaker 3 (54:43):
In that shies.
Speaker 1 (54:44):
Okay, So now you tell me that the Spurs move on,
and suddenly everyone's like, ah, forget them, we want the Knicks.
Speaker 2 (54:52):
They weren't pulling for the Spurs, but they like one
Bay Yama of the Spurs. They were pulling for the
Spurs because that's how unlikable Oklahoma City he is.
Speaker 1 (55:00):
Right now, I don't think Oklahoma Cities is unlikable.
Speaker 3 (55:03):
You guys, you're very unlikable. You just don't understand that.
You know what you are.
Speaker 2 (55:06):
I'm sorry to say this to you, Chris. Right you're
like the girl who thinks she's a nine and a
half of nine point eight when she's really a four.
And I'm gonna have to tell you this. You're a four, Chris.
The Emperor has no clothes. You guys don't have any
clothes on. You're not that all that good looking, to
be honest with you.
Speaker 1 (55:22):
Okay, Well, they just want a title and you guys
haven't sniffed a title in fun.
Speaker 2 (55:27):
You see now you getting me? Don't don't play in
the medicine.
Speaker 1 (55:29):
Don't talk. Don't talk. You want a city. They lost
a series without their best player, and the guy who
was one of their best players, that SGA's their best player,
two time MVP. There's no question. Jalen Williams is out.
He didn't play, tried to play, couldn't go. The guy
who had stepped up aj Mitchell and played outstanding in
his absence, probably the reason they started eight. No got
(55:51):
hurt as well too. I'm not saying if they play,
they win. It's a major story in this to come
out and don't have I don't want to support Okac.
What are you doing? Don't say stupid stuff. The dumbest thing.
Why Because they've been the number one overall seed four
straight years, they won the title. Last year, they come
up short in a game seven without two of their
(56:12):
best players, and you're gonna try to beat that down
because a couple of yokes on Excell like, look at him,
he's flopping all over the place. Yeah, he's flopped his
way to back to back him and the Thunder should
be in the final.
Speaker 3 (56:23):
It's not just that they lost. And I brought this
up yesterday.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
Cheed Holmgren wanted no part of even shooting the ball
was the problem. I gotta tell you something, when you
play thirty three minutes, you should have more than two
shots by accident. If I played thirty three minutes at
my age, I would have more than two shots.
Speaker 3 (56:41):
I would just chuck up more than two.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
I don't know. And Dorn that guy was afraid of them.
They had to take him out of the game because
he was afraid of the ball.
Speaker 3 (56:51):
That's a problem.
Speaker 2 (56:52):
And now with the money that ched Holmgan's gonna get
that human win puppet that he is. It's going to
be a problem. He's got five years of a big
time contract. I never thought they were gonna be able
to get Giannis because Johannis really no but and he
wants his own team. But I do think they can
get somebody else to help them out. I mean, let's
(57:13):
face it, it's gonna be them in San Antonio for
the next how many years?
Speaker 1 (57:17):
Right, but the emperor has no clothes and they have
no opportunity. They just want a title. And now that
same dope is sitting here telling me that it's gonna
be these two teams, this foreseeable feuture.
Speaker 2 (57:28):
It's gonna be unless somebody, I see where Giannis is
going to go or you know, if any move, you know,
let's see what happens with Lebron and that type of stuff.
But as of right now, and by the way, did
I hear that right that Hartenstein they're not gonna pick
up his contract. I thought they just signed him. How
did he go on a one year guaranteed deal. I'm
not quite understanding that, or a two year guaranteed deal.
Speaker 3 (57:49):
How could they let him go like that?
Speaker 1 (57:50):
I think he has a player option for it as
well too.
Speaker 2 (57:53):
I know it might be a team option because they
said they weren't going to pick him up and somebody
else up to save some money to make a move
in free agency.
Speaker 1 (58:02):
Look, I both want to stay.
Speaker 2 (58:04):
Yeah, I just I didn't, you know. I'm like, how
could that happen? He just signed a couple of years ago.
Speaker 1 (58:09):
Well, he signed a three year, eighty seven million dollar offer. Man,
this is his third year.
Speaker 2 (58:15):
Okay, I gotcha, Okay, it's.
Speaker 1 (58:16):
Not like he just signed a one year. She's on.
Speaker 2 (58:18):
Time goes by quick. She seems like just yesterday he
was on the next All.
Speaker 1 (58:21):
Right, we got a break. When we come back. Todd
Furhman joins US Live from Vegas to talk NBA Finals
and Stanley Cup Finals next right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Well's head to Vegas. You know him, you love him.
Todd Furman is in the house. Sorry to plank here
on Fox Sports Radio. What's going on, Todd? What a
(58:41):
what a week it's been? Right Vegas? Heading back to
the Stanley Cup, the finals are set, let's.
Speaker 7 (58:46):
Go take advantage of a great nine year run that
we've seen out of the Golden Nights since the franchise
inaugural season. Never in my wildest dreams that I anticipate
going back to the third Stanley Cup final in just
that brief nine year history.
Speaker 2 (59:00):
How much your tickets going for the Stanley Cup? And
I bet you could sell your I's getting a nice
little pretty penny for them.
Speaker 7 (59:05):
I definitely could. But the joys of being a season
ticket holder, Ernie is to be able to take part
in these moments because you never know how infrequently they're
going to come. Just ask Knicks fans that unloaded NBA
Finals tickets back in nineteen ninety nine. I'm sure that
I thought they would be there again in just a
handful of years. It's taken a generation to return there.
But the tickets from a face value standpoint, I'm not
(59:25):
even going to share how cheap they are in the
grand scheme of things for where my seats are located
compared to what the secondary market is going for right now.
Speaker 2 (59:32):
That's not fair. That's not fair. This is the third
time you just said you'd go to the Stanley Cup.
My teams haven't even come close to winning for like
twenty something years, and I haven't won since the Meds
in eighty eight and the Knicks back what in seventy two.
I mean, this is the first time and like decades
I've been this close to winning it. It happens for
(59:52):
you like every three years, it's discussed.
Speaker 7 (59:55):
I mean, look, Arnie, I grew up in New York
Rangers fan and it had been fifty years before they
want to Stanley Cup. I was only twelve years old
when they took care of business back in nineteen ninety four.
So trust me, I don't consider myself anything but lucky
being a Vegas Goal of the Night's season ticket holder
and having seen this franchise from its inception and what
they've kind of established. No pun intended as a gold
standard throughout the league in an unconventional way of doing business.
(01:00:18):
Although I don't condone freezing out a head coach that
may want to go coach for one of your division rivals.
So that part is a different discussion for a different day.
Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
So I know we don't go truly in depth on
Fox Sports Radio as much as we probably should with hockey,
but how have the Knights been able to do it? Like,
what in your opinion has been the key? Was it
getting the good draft to get things started where the
NHL kind of allowed him to bone up on some
big players. What has it really been in your opinion
(01:00:46):
that's helped them be as consistently good as they've been.
Speaker 7 (01:00:49):
A very aggressive front office that is willing to make
moves that a lot of other teams wouldn't make, and
sometimes that rubs players and rubs management or i should
say agents the wrong way because they're willing to part
with players that have been key cornerstones for some of
what they've been able to do. But as we see
in sports, better to be rid of a player as
alice as that may sound, a year early than taking
(01:01:11):
him on a year later getting nostalgic signing a player
to a contract for what he's done before that he
may not be able to do again down the road.
So Vegas has kind of a skewed the idea of
stockpiling draft picks, and that's been one of the areas
where they're willing to take a risk on a player
a year or two early who may be a restricted
free agent that they think they can sign to a
long term deal, and when you look at some of
(01:01:32):
the other NHL cities around the league, not always the
most difficult sell to convince people in January and February
that you can play golf away from the arena and
you can take advantage of a state that has no
state income tax, So a lot of competitive advantages in
that regard. But you also have to be very good
with your player assessment and make sure that you know
that you're bringing guys that are the right fit for
(01:01:52):
what you're trying to accomplish.
Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
Well, of course you have to do it free agency,
because I'm I'm wondering if you got to lose you
for all your draft picks. What's the he's so bad about?
He's winning and he doesn't jump to Prescott. What's he
so bad about?
Speaker 7 (01:02:05):
It's a great question, But that is the media enigma
that is John Tortorella. And it's not just a short
sit in Vegas. You followed hockey for the last twenty
some odd years, aren't he And a tiger can't change
his stripe, so torts is never going to be much different.
The craziest part about all of that is the Knights
have not come out with an extension for John Tortorella yet,
and there's still a very realistic possibility that they may
(01:02:25):
promote from within the organization. Looking at Ryan Craig, who's
kind of manned the bench for the Henderson Silver Knights
in the AHL.
Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
Wow, interesting, Hey, let's shift to the NBA. What happened
to the Thunder? Was it just too many injuries to overcome?
Speaker 7 (01:02:37):
I think that's exactly what it was. Just didn't have
the scoring options they needed down the stretch after going
up three games to two in the series. The loss
of AJ Mitchell hurt and of course having no Jalen Williams.
You saw the defensive intensity that was there for stretches.
But in the modern NBA, if you can't consistently score
in the half court, it makes it extremely tough to
win these high leverage games. And credit to Thunder, I mean,
(01:02:58):
other than that twenty to nothing run they gave up
against the Spurs in the third quarter of Game six,
they weathered every storm and every run that came from
San Antonio just ran out of steam. And if you
had told me that it was Keldon Johnson banging down
multiple three pointers to start the fourth quarter, that we're
going to be the difference maker. I would have probably
given you playing the same astronomical odds at Arnie wants
in all of his parlay.
Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
You know, Todd, I saw that the team for the
last twenty six years, the team with the more rest
heading into the finals thirteen and thirteen in the finals.
So I guess more rest really doesn't mean much. The
Knicks are gonna have eight days rest San Antonio three
days rest?
Speaker 3 (01:03:37):
Does that have any effect? Do you think game number
one or not?
Speaker 1 (01:03:40):
Really?
Speaker 7 (01:03:40):
I do think it'll have an effect on Game one.
You have to imagine a Spurs team that is extremely
young and probably a year or two head of schedule,
could have emptied the tank and may not be able
to run it back with that same level of intensity
we saw with the improbable run to win Game six
and then go on the road and win Game seven,
knocking no case from the postseason. So the Spurs four
and a half five only favorites in Game one. I
(01:04:01):
wouldn't be shocked if we saw a little bit of
money coming on the Knicks. And this is a Knicks
team that's playing historically good basketball throughout the playoffs. I mean,
eleven straight wins doing things without leaving any doubt. It's
not like they're winning by the slimmest of margins. The
elimination games. They've been able to elevate and they're getting
contributions up and down the line up. So fascinating chess
match to see what you're going to get in the
way Mitch Johnson will try and defend Jalen Brunson and
(01:04:22):
how some of that secondary scoring will look for the Knicks.
And conversely, you know what the Knicks are going to
be able to do to slow down Victor Wembanyama and
an underrated guard rotation. It's kind of surprised me a
little bit with how these young players have really come
of age for San Antonio.
Speaker 1 (01:04:35):
Arnie has made the proclamation tonight that the Knicks are
America's team. Two everyone is rooting for you.
Speaker 7 (01:04:42):
Are they still Are they still owned by James Dolan?
Then you cannot be America's team if you're still owned
by a member of the Dolan family.
Speaker 3 (01:04:48):
He just hated as much as Jerry Jones was.
Speaker 7 (01:04:50):
I think, oh, it's getting up there. I mean, trust me,
there's no love lost. And I think the better question,
Arnie for you being as diehard a Nick fan as
you are. Will they allow Charles Oakley and Building in
any capacity or is he's still living out that lifetime
banishment for giving everything that's transpired.
Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
I love when they showed Bernard King and they said, look,
it's Cedric d entertainer. I'm like, what's wrong with you people?
That's Bernard gag for Grid out loud.
Speaker 7 (01:05:15):
I mean, sometimes you have to mix it up and
take advantage of the celebrities. We'll see who san Antonio
can bring to the forefront as well. I'm just hoping, though,
as we've been rambling on and waxing poetically about the
NHL Stanley Cup Final and the NBA final, Plank has
a TV there that he was able to see one
of the more thrilling NASCAR finishes so far the twenty
twenty sixth season.
Speaker 1 (01:05:33):
I'm watching the highlights, watching the highlights right now? All right, Hey, Todd,
thanks buddy, appreciate the time as.
Speaker 3 (01:05:37):
All who you're picking Todd overall though, how many games.
Speaker 7 (01:05:40):
And was you know what, It's hard for me, as
much as I would like to see the Knicks win,
because aren'ty much like you? My old man is a
dire Knicks fan. I actually grew up a Knicks fan
in Chicago and watched Jordan and the Bulls win six
championships at my expense, so I remember ninety nine. Not
quite like it was yesterday, but a little bit painful.
I just don't know if the Knicks have enough. They're
going to need some of those depth players to really
(01:06:01):
continue to perform at a high level. And I really
think the X factor will be og In Andobi. Can
he do enough offensively and defensively to provide a thorn
in the thunderside. So I'm going to take the Spurs.
I think the series it goes along, I'll go Spurs
in six. And as much as it'll kill me, I
think the Carolina Hurricanes are too deep and too physical
for the Golden Knight, So I hope I'm wrong if
I'm taking Caroline in six as well.
Speaker 1 (01:06:21):
What a great finish that NASCAR race. I'm watching it,

out in Nashville on Saturday, so Denny Hamlin started from

Speaker 1 (01:12:07):
Tomorrow did you see we're talking about college baseball right?
Now so Shady sean for twenty is so mad at.
Us but did you see How West virginia Tied. Kentucky,
no the crowd induced a basis loaded bulk that scored
a run and the place was going absolutely insane In.
Morgantown they'll play an if necessary. Game by the, way

Speaker 5 (01:12:46):
Mentioned so and by the, way Cal poly located In
San Louis obispo in Southern. California congrats to them on the.
Speaker 1 (01:12:53):
ADVANCE i never Knew willard went. There how about? That
so you, know we're all in a little bit of.
Denial and before we get to the this segment coming
up and see if this, works what did you make
of what Shake Gildess alexander said after the loss, YESTERDAY.
Speaker 6 (01:13:07):
I failed at my vote AND i didn't achieve WHAT
i wanted to. Achieve but through my EXPERIENCES i learned
the most about myself AND i make the like great
(01:13:27):
amount of increase THAT i have in my in my career.
Speaker 1 (01:13:30):
WHEN i fail in My so basically he, says if
you couldn't hear because it was recorded from across the. Room,
yeah apparently seasons of failure because they didn't accomplish their.
GOALS i don't think you could say that when you
win THE, mvp.
Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
Can't, no he won THE MVP i, MEAN i understand
why he's saying, it and it's probably the right thing to,
say because if he, said, no not a, FAILURE i
won THE mvp you're talking, about then they'reud would be
jumping down his. Throat probably the right thing to. Say
BUT i agree with. Him you made it to The
Western conference, finals you won it all last, year you
(01:14:05):
won THE. Mvp not a complete. Failure it was still
a pretty good. Year and you'll bounce back and you'll
make your moves and we'll see what. Happens you're not
gonna be able to get rid Of Home, grin but
they'll make a move or two and bolstrup that.
Speaker 3 (01:14:18):
Team they're still in a good.
Speaker 1 (01:14:19):
Position, YEAH i think so, too even though you've tried
to tell everyone that they. Suck, NO i didn't say.
Speaker 2 (01:14:26):
THAT i just said that they're gonna have to Keep Home.
Grin they're gonna have to figure out how to sign
what was, It Jalen, williams the one that was.
Speaker 3 (01:14:33):
Hurt he's the one that's up on the. Contract they're gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:14:36):
Have to give him the.
Speaker 2 (01:14:37):
Money there's like two or three people they've got to
give them money, Too so they have. To they just
have to come up with the creative, financing which is
always a way to figure out in THE, Nba and.
Speaker 1 (01:14:49):
You'd have to count on maybe Lou dort taking a
little bit less than he might get somewhere. Else you
might he's.
Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
REPLACEABLE i, mean, sure you want to keep, him but you,
know if you you have to let him go and go,
cheaper you could do that.
Speaker 1 (01:15:02):
Also, sure and they still have a boatload of draft,
picks so you have a lot of players that you
can go out and bring. In they've got guys that
they've stashed that might start becoming more of an. Option
SO i don't. Know i'm not As downshodden On okase
has no San.
Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
Antonio they Drafted Keldon Johnson WILLIAMS i think back in twenty,
nineteen The cell in twenty, Twenty wemby in twenty twenty,
Three castle in twenty twenty, Four harper in twenty twenty,
five And Carter bryant in twenty twenty. Five so that's
(01:15:42):
six players on the roster drafted since twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:15:45):
Nineteen you don't see that that very often in this.
League of, course none of it, matters so they don't Have.
Wimby but the bottom line. Is it's a team that's
been built through the draft and one big trait they
go get Deeron fox and he helped them Win game.
Seven all, right we got a break when we come.
Back it's all right for the segment with The sager

(01:16:27):
off the. Air what's, Up steve To, seger what do
you have for?
Speaker 5 (01:16:30):
Ust, Well arnie mentioned he watched The yankees top of
the third inning. Today, yeah the game In West sacramento
against The a's thirteen three minutes forty three minute half. Inning,
yeah thirteen runs without a single homer For New. York
in the top of the, third they're.
Speaker 2 (01:16:46):
Like two infield, hits a couple, walks a couple blue.
Speaker 3 (01:16:49):
Pits that was. Crazy i'd never seen.
Speaker 5 (01:16:51):
It eleven, hits four walks. Total aside from, that third,
Inning New york not only had no, runs but no
hits on the. Day outside of that n The yankees
from runners in scoring position for the game were nine for.
Twelve some great nuggets From Associated press that The a's
in the third inning through seventy five pitches and then
(01:17:11):
through sixty five pitches in the last six innings combined
to finish out the.
Speaker 3 (01:17:16):
Day they lost thirteen.
Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
Eight but the guy they had in there was going
to just take the brunt of the, punishment and they
couldn't take it any. More they get somebody else, up
he's just getting closed and it.
Speaker 5 (01:17:25):
Would have been too early in the. GAME i guess
with the rules to have a you, know a back
of the catcher pitching or something like or A german.
Shepherd The yankees sent eighteen men to the plate in
that big third, inning and then sent only eighteen men
to the plate the rest of the, day the minimum
sixteen for the final six. Innings so The yankees were
visiting that minor league ballpark where The a's are playing
(01:17:46):
in temporarily for these three. Years another sellout all week
and it was today twelve, thy five hundred and. Fifteen
thing is in that park there are some runs. Scored The,
a's in, fact this, season have allowed three more runs
per game in the home games than they've allowed in
the road. Games if that stayed true for the full,
(01:18:07):
season that would be the biggest differential ever in a.
Season this is only year two of the three In.
Sacramento once they, move The a's and notice nobody's calling
Them oakland. Anymore once they, move they'll be The Las
Vegas a's and playing in a stadium that is under
construction across the street FROM mgm And New, York New,
york on the strip Where tropicana used to. Be San
(01:18:30):
francisco scored an all but one inning and it's win
nineteen to. Six can you.
Speaker 2 (01:18:34):
Play blackjack while you're watching the?
Speaker 5 (01:18:36):
Game i'm sure that will incorporate something at the. Seats
it Is Las. VEGAS i, mean incorporate something other than
the air conditioning you're going to be getting at the seats.
Speaker 2 (01:18:45):
There Home, Now i'm thinking of all kinds of stuff
you could do at this. Place oh my.
Speaker 5 (01:18:49):
GOODNESS i remember when The Portland Trailblazers arena was. Built
it was revolutionary that they actually wired it for future
technology to be available at the seats and then here years,
later THE La Clippers arena is, built and that not
only has the technology at the, seat they can test
your loudness level from the. Seat they know who's the
(01:19:11):
Loudest clipper fan of the. Game literally he can win
a prize based on the volume from the. Seat it's.
Amazing speaking of that, arena it's going to be Hosting
olympic basketball when THE La olympics come around in two.
Years softball at THE La olympics will be In Oklahoma,
city where an amazing game occurred tonights at The Women's
(01:19:32):
College World series in extra, innings eight to, Seven Texas
tech to ELIMINATE. Ucla, Earlier texas had Eliminated. Nebraska not
a bad finish, there three to, one a three run
homer in the six shortly after breaking up a no hit.
Bid so in the semis we Got Texas tech against
An alabama team that has yet to lose. There in
The World Series texas Against tennessee tomorrow balls have yet
(01:19:55):
to lose. There but the fact is that we HAD
i think already put it, best seemingly the same pitcher
coming back in three different times At kennedy who was
the starter in this, game The stanford transfer and now
millionaire With Texas. TECH i got to mention THE ucla
Starter Taylor, tinsley pitched all five postseason games for The.
(01:20:21):
Bruins pitched all nine innings, tonight took the loss through
one hundred and eighty one pitches in the game, Tonight,
wow wound up taking the so three of the five playoff,
games she threw over one hundred. Pitches but my, goodness
tonight all nine, innings not. Seven AND ucla, baseball, yes
was eliminated as.
Speaker 1 (01:20:42):
Well that rough night for The bruins baseball and softball
comes to an. End but no one in the history
of the sport has ever hit more home runs than
THE ucla softball team did in the. SEASON i, think
what was it, like two toh eight on the. SEASON i, mean.
Speaker 5 (01:20:56):
Think about alibeating the tying homer.
Speaker 1 (01:20:58):
Today, yeah but by the, way just hit as a
team one hundred home runs on the, season and they've
only done that twice in their program's. History it's, crazy all.
Right when we come back To Power hours next On
Fox Sports. Radio you're listening To Fox Sports Radio. Radio
here we, go call it The Power hour With Arnie.
(01:21:18):
Spaniel I'm Chris. Plank this Is arnie And plank On
Fox Sports. RADIO i think we've done a pretty good
job on The roman numeral rundown.
Speaker 3 (01:21:26):
Right oh, YEAH i had a lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:21:28):
THEM i put like twenty one of them on The roman,
Numerals SO i mean some of them were probably not
going to get to like The Caitton clark, thing WHICH.
Speaker 3 (01:21:37):
I thought was kind of. Funny did you see?
Speaker 1 (01:21:38):
That you, KNOW i just have a. Confession i've been
out on THE. WNBA i, THOUGHT i think the initial
surge For Caitlin clark was. Cool then everyone started hating on,
everything and then it became like, political and Then i'm,
like what are we? Doing And clark got hurt last,
year AND i JUST I i'm, out. Dude, Yeah i'm
(01:22:01):
gonna have to count on.
Speaker 2 (01:22:02):
You roman numeral sixteen or we found That kevin O'Connor
was the only voter who Left brunson off all three
ALL nba.
Speaker 1 (01:22:13):
Teams, Wait Jalen brunson was left off someone's.
Speaker 3 (01:22:20):
Ballot, Yes kevin.
Speaker 1 (01:22:21):
O'Connors kevin O'Connor is a smart. Dude he has to
have a reason for, it, Right maybe you just forgot, no, no,
no, NO i don't think so are? You are you triggered about?
This this is where you AND i, differ all, right
this is where we.
Speaker 12 (01:22:36):
Do.
Speaker 1 (01:22:37):
Yeah, yeah when my teams are. Good, right when my
teams are, GOOD i don't care if anyone wins. ANYTHING
i don't care if their first, Team Heisman, trophy ALL
Nba World, Series All star. WHATEVER i just want my
team to. Win you kind of are a one. Everything
you want to, win and you want your guys to BE.
Mvp you want them in all defensive. Teams AND i,
(01:23:00):
mean so What kevin O'Connor left him. Off there's a
lot of really good guards of this. YEAR i, mean,
yeah but it seems like that.
Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
Happens we always find that one guy that leaves somebody
off The hall Of fame ballot or leaves them off
THEIR mvp, ballot and it's kind of disrespectful or just you,
know you don't take it seriously enough that we always
find somebody reperence Season heisman.
Speaker 3 (01:23:20):
Voting it's crazy out there.
Speaker 1 (01:23:23):
Now he did. Apologize oh. Wow he said that he
made a mistake in Leaving brunton off his, team so.
Speaker 3 (01:23:31):
He would he just.
Speaker 2 (01:23:31):
Forget he said.
Speaker 1 (01:23:34):
His reasoning this was from The kevin O'Connor. Show his
reasoning was that he viewed the third team spot as
a genuinely competitive race between four, guys and it basically
came down To Jalen brunson Versus Tyrese, maxey and according to,
(01:23:55):
O'Connor defense was a deciding.
Speaker 2 (01:23:58):
Fact oh, geez stop. It, YEAH i thought you said
he knows.
Speaker 1 (01:24:03):
BASKETBALL i, THOUGHT i, Mean i'm standing up for it
BECAUSE i listened to him AND i like. HIM i
was kind of surprised by. It but O'Connor, added should
we just be waiting until the finals are over to?
Vote Because brunson should be first or Second Team ALL
nba this.
Speaker 2 (01:24:18):
Year nobody else needed the finals to wait till then to.
Vote everybody else had him on their.
Speaker 1 (01:24:22):
Ballots, yeah it doesn't make any, sense he. Said he's.
Sorry so do you Accept kevin O'Connor's i accept.
Speaker 3 (01:24:29):
It not that big of a, deal but it does
make you, wonder makes it?
Speaker 1 (01:24:32):
WELL i think maybe he has a LITTLE i thought
this Was america's. Team is this Not america's?
Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
Team not not For kevin, O'Connor that's for.
Speaker 1 (01:24:40):
Sure have you decided by the, WAY i know this
is in one of Your roman numerals tonight on the.
Rundown but have you decided how you're going to consume the?
FINALS i, MEAN i know you're not gonna, go so
you can quit asking about.
Speaker 3 (01:24:53):
It, NO i actually THOUGH i.
Speaker 2 (01:24:55):
Would if there's SOMETHING i do would LIKE i would
like to do is go to one of The why
parties when the games are In San. Antonio those seem
like they're a lot of. FUN i don't know if
they're gonna have them In Madison Square garden Or Radio
City Music, halls SO i haven't found out exactly where
the watch parties, are but they're only ten dollars to get.
Speaker 1 (01:25:13):
IN i will say this. MUCH i would go to
the watch. Parties, oh they seem like. Fun they look
like they would be an absolute blast to be a part.
Speaker 2 (01:25:25):
Of can you go with The San Antonio jersey out or?
Speaker 1 (01:25:28):
Something go for? IT i, mean, Yeah, well let's hit
some of these tweets slash exhibmissions that have come in.
Tonight you can hit us up At Stinking genius one
and At Fox Sports. Radio make sure you follow us as.
Well i'm At Plank. Show all, right let's let's just
work our way, down, uh the million dollar man. Rights
(01:25:51):
The spurs have about forty two million dollars coming off
the books next. Year if they can Trade, fox that
would be another forty nine. Million, Well Pierre, fox. GUYS i,
MEAN i know it's not a massive box score, game
but they probably don't Win game seven without.
Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
Him, no BUT i don't know if They i've gone
back and forth on. That i'm not so sure.
Speaker 3 (01:26:11):
They really need him in the long.
Speaker 2 (01:26:12):
Run, FAIR i think they can probably do better use
of that salary than keeping him around for the next
three to five.
Speaker 1 (01:26:20):
Years what is considered better use anymore in the world
of THE, nba because is it trying to find just
the right cultural. Fit is it going to THE G?
League is it the? Draft is it another lesser used
free agent that needs a bigger role A La caruso
whenever he was The. LAKERS i, mean what is considered
(01:26:41):
that better value in your opinion right?
Speaker 2 (01:26:43):
Now it could be any one of, Those like When
portland picked up their big star FROM i forget where
it was.
Speaker 3 (01:26:53):
And now look at. Him he's just absolute dominating for.
Speaker 2 (01:26:56):
That, sure those, guys you can Go i'm not SAYING je,
league but this draft is so deep you can go
ahead and really find somebody in the first fifteen to twenty,
picks and that's going to save you a lot of.
Speaker 3 (01:27:09):
Money but they're going to be on a rookie, deal
so that's going to be a.
Speaker 2 (01:27:13):
Possibility also look for people who wanted to hoard some
of these draft picks this.
Speaker 1 (01:27:17):
Year analog ol The knicks will Be america's team when
they beat The spurs in. Seven. Wow, MEANWHILE. Jk LaGG,

they didn't give it to. THEMSELVES a name was offered
to The steelers, first who turned it. Down it was
a marketing tool THE nfl was. Using, OKAY i mean that.
Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
TRUE i don't know if that's. True i'll just Go
i'll take Your you're just gonna go with.
Speaker 2 (01:29:10):
That you just gonna take his word for.
Speaker 1 (01:29:11):
It mister. Nobody people Like arnie, saying, okay see aren't
likable are hypocrites Because Michael, Jordan Bill, Lambiard Dwayne, Wade
James harden all baited the refs to get foul. Calls
it's nothing, new it's nothing, nefarious it's smart. BASKETBALL i
know That i'm losing my mind WHENEVER i find myself agreeing,
(01:29:32):
with of all, People Draymond, green Because Draymond green came
out yesterday on his show and basically chastised all you
People Arnie spanier that were Questioning Shay Giljes. Alexander, yeah you.
Speaker 2 (01:29:49):
Know but when he said that they're not, likable they.
Are just look at the Money nike said basketball players
are not. Likable that's why they're having problems solving. Juice
that's why their stock is in the, toilet.
Speaker 1 (01:29:59):
RIGHT i think that if you were to do a
likability yes whole yes five, meter and you took it
beyond just the twittersphere and the, haters if you, WILL
i Think Oklahoma city has some of the most likable
dudes on their roster period who she flops too. Much
(01:30:22):
he plays, Different so what he's. Awesome the dude's a great,
dad takes care of his. Family he is an ambassador
for hoops in the. Community and people want to grinch
and moan because he foul bates in their. Opinion whenever
what he only shot a few less free throw or
a few more free throws In Wimbin. Yama Whom i'm
(01:30:42):
telling you right, Now, arnie the more people watch, him
you're gonna hate.
Speaker 2 (01:30:47):
Him you KNOW i said this. Yesterday he showed a
dirty side of him in this.
Speaker 3 (01:30:52):
Series you're gonna hate.
Speaker 1 (01:30:54):
Him.
Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
Yeah he certainly is going to push back what his
career is going on for the next couple of. Years
and he's not gonna take crap for him. Anybody he
certainly can give it, back no doubt he can give it.
Speaker 1 (01:31:06):
Back AND i don't have a problem with it because
it's WHAT i love about THE, nba RIGHT i don't
want guys out there playing patty cake and loving and
hugging on each other after they lose a. GAME i
want him to be. PISSED i wanted to be. MAD
i wanted to be ready to throw. Hands if a
guy's playing, dirty you're sitting here bragging on Windin yama
(01:31:26):
because he beats the thunder and you think that it triggers.
Me but whenever you're through game three and he's throwing
elbows and he's falling down when someone breathes on, him
you're gonna be in the position like a majority of us. Are,
well you just can't stand the.
Speaker 2 (01:31:41):
Guy you, know, though we're a more physical team though
offense In Oklahoma. City so if he's really going to fall,
down it's because we're going to be knocking him.
Speaker 1 (01:31:50):
Down because WHEN i think of, PHYSICALITY i think If
Karl Anthony, towns.
Speaker 2 (01:31:54):
Wow, wow you know we're gonna BE i don't think
we're gonna get beat on the on the. GLASS i
think we're gonna go out Rebound San. Antonio you, know
the two games we played him in the regular, season
we lost one by, two and then we kicked their
backside in one of the. Games they really are not
a team that matches up well against.
Speaker 1 (01:32:14):
Us you might be. Right how did it go this
season against?
Speaker 2 (01:32:17):
Them the two and oh we were two one on.
Speaker 3 (01:32:19):
One e jesuse me one on, one one one.
Speaker 1 (01:32:21):
ONE i mean you played twice and you split, him
SO i don't maybe it is it was.
Speaker 2 (01:32:27):
Like thirty or something like.
Speaker 1 (01:32:28):
That it was a bad matchup For Oklahoma city because
it's the only team all season long that was able
to do anything against. THEM i will, say, THOUGH i
found this kind of. FASCINATING i didn't want to play this.
Chet holmgren did meet with the media last night after the,
game and he was asked about basically that whole idea
(01:32:49):
that you, Know victor Winbin yama just targeted him and basically,
said anytime that you're on, ME i CAN i can.
Score here's What cheed, said sort of put the team.
Speaker 2 (01:33:01):
First and we have seen you emotional from this point with.
Speaker 12 (01:33:05):
HER i mean there's times where like with the is
like bumping on the way to how there were times
he clearly tries YOU qui.
Speaker 1 (01:33:13):
Me did you feel at any.
Speaker 5 (01:33:15):
Point that you almost went out of your way to
like not make it about you and.
Speaker 6 (01:33:19):
Him like almost who a degree you had to be.
Speaker 13 (01:33:22):
FUN i, mean at the end of the, day it's
always about uh us trying to win the basketball, game,
yep us as a, collective The thunder team trying to
win the basketball, game you, Know and that's that's what
it's always gonna be.
Speaker 1 (01:33:43):
SO i think that's what makes people. Angry first of, all,
editors we don't need a twenty second, question but it's
a fair one because the bottom line, here more than anything,
else is a lot of people are pointing on his
lack of physicality and his lack of ability in shutting.
Down one of your answer is it's about. TEAM i
think people want to hear you take a little bit
(01:34:04):
of responsibility for. That, Right it's all about. Team it's About.
Thunder no one's throwing shed under the bus that where's
AN Okac thunder?
Speaker 2 (01:34:11):
Uniform, no the rest of the country, is by the,
way didn't everyone else? Was did he feel so uncomfortable
to answer that? Question ALL i can think.
Speaker 4 (01:34:18):
Of is, like.
Speaker 2 (01:34:20):
We just want to, win right?
Speaker 1 (01:34:21):
Exactly the next.
Speaker 3 (01:34:22):
Question please. Jeded you, know here's here's a two minute. Question.
Speaker 2 (01:34:26):
Right we just tried. Hard you, know we try, Hard.
Speaker 1 (01:34:30):
You try, hard and it's not one, person it's it's
the entire. Team whenever you, know just about everyone that
watched that game that's either A thunder fan or AN
nba fan is, wondering why isn't the really tall guy
out there defending? Him why isn't Ched holmgren being more.
Aggressive uh and and, again dude's an all, star dude
(01:34:51):
plays at a very high. Level, yeah it's a bad
matchup for. HIM i don't know what else to. Say
you got to get more physical whenever you Play, wimby
And wimby's not necessarily an overly physical. Guy he's just
an awkward. Matchup SO i found that weird That chet
was so ineffective against, Him marny so ineffective, Now Victor
(01:35:15):
Wimbin yama has a way of making me look ineffective
because he's really. Good BUT i, THINK i think you
guys have a chance to have a lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:35:23):
Success you, know IF i Was, CHET i would demand
the ball in the low, post If Wimba yama was guarding, me,
turn do the pump fake Because Wimba yama leaves his
feet a, lot, right and draw the. FOUL i, Mean
I'm i'm a seven. Footer yeah he's seven to five
or whatever it. Is but but, still, man you, know
(01:35:43):
lean into, him draw some. Fouls even if you don't
make the, shot maybe you, could you, know get a
couple of fouls on. Him they weren't even doing that
for crying out loud.
Speaker 1 (01:35:52):
Well i'll tell you one, thing it's gonna be on
the backcourt of The spurs to be able to find
a way to slow Down. Bronson it's gonna be on
someone other Than mitchell Who's have we got any news
as to how he hurt?
Speaker 3 (01:36:08):
Himself they said it wasn't in, practice and it wasn't
in the, Game So i'm, like, well what the hell
was he?
Speaker 1 (01:36:13):
Doing? Then you, know.
Speaker 2 (01:36:15):
What was he doing after the game that he that
he broke his? Finger So i'm not sure there'd being
absolutely honest with.
Speaker 1 (01:36:21):
Him haven't we heard about dudes like hurting themselves throwing
the trash out in the. Past is that and?
Speaker 3 (01:36:26):
HAPPENED i don't think. So i'm not buying.
Speaker 1 (01:36:28):
That i'm just. Joking you.
Speaker 2 (01:36:30):
Know they, said you, know you should have like a month,
off but he's going to try to. PLAY i guess
we'll see what. Happens very nervous about. That that's the
one thing That i'm sour about right.
Speaker 1 (01:36:40):
Now and it's definitely it's a dude that you need
whenever you're going up against someone like Women. Yama all,
right we were in the middle of. TEXT i wanted
to hit two more. Here broaly antalog. Goal shay only
flopped once In game. Seven very, funny very, funny. GUNNY
i almost want to for The spurs after listening To arnie. Tonight, Now,
(01:37:02):
god he's a diehard. Thunderfan so if you're turning him
to root for The, spurs that's crazy towns in my, Mind,
arnie what are you?
Speaker 2 (01:37:09):
Doing, well there there was a mister nobody said he
was A nicks Slash Oklahoma city. Fan i'm, like, No,
no you didn't see.
Speaker 1 (01:37:17):
THAT i can see. THAT i, say yeah that you.
Speaker 3 (01:37:19):
Can't you can't do.
Speaker 2 (01:37:20):
That, no you why not get out of here A
knick Slash Oklahoma city? Fan out of the get out
of here with that.
Speaker 1 (01:37:30):
Nonsense, well if you think that The thunder have not
been around for too terribly, long, right and there are
two teams and opposite divisions our, conferences excuse me what.
Speaker 2 (01:37:42):
There used to be A knicks fan and now you're
Also Oklahoma. City no the you.
Speaker 1 (01:37:46):
Pick, No i'm A lakers fan who Appreciates Oklahoma city
and knows that IF i was a young kid growing
up In Oklahoma, CITY i would be the Biggest thunder
fan on the planet because they're awesome and how they
give back to the community and how they care about the.
Kids that's. That that's WHAT i would. Say but, Again
i'm Not i'm a cynical old man who gets mad
(01:38:07):
at everything right, now especially you idiots who can. Drive so,
YEAH i MEAN i would look at it and say
it's a little bit. Odd but it's not like he's
Saying i'm A, nickson A nets, fan or something like
two different.
Speaker 2 (01:38:19):
Conferences, okay then the most somebody, Said i'm An oklahoma
And texas.
Speaker 1 (01:38:23):
Fan they play each other in the same it's not
even a. Comparison we're not rivals with. You we kick
the crap out of.
Speaker 2 (01:38:31):
You niggs Play Oklahoma, city The nigs Play.
Speaker 1 (01:38:34):
Ye, yeah how many times you beat? Them we were
one on? One no you. Weren't you guys know this?
Speaker 3 (01:38:41):
Year oh yeah yeah, Yeah i'm not to Say i'm.
Speaker 1 (01:38:43):
Sorry. Yeah SO i guess my, point more than anything,
else is you want a team that actually kind of
gives you a chance to. Win maybe that's one and number.
Two it's not like it's some established. Franchise it has
a massive. Rivalry like if you were to come in
and say you were A nixon heat than that wouldn't
make any, Sense But nixon, THUNDER i THINK i can
buy that a little.
Speaker 3 (01:39:03):
Bit, NO i don't buy. That that's just Too.
Speaker 1 (01:39:06):
You have two teams in every. Sports now you're A
dolphin and A giants.
Speaker 3 (01:39:11):
Fan mostly A dolphin the, fan you know, that.
Speaker 1 (01:39:14):
Right so he can be mostly A knicks fan and
also appreciate and follow the.
Speaker 3 (01:39:19):
Thunder i'll be in charge of. That i'm in charge of.
Speaker 1 (01:39:21):
That i'll you with the judge of all things sports
whenever it comes to All and THEN i had to
bring this up From JASON. B diamond BECAUSE i didn't
want it to get. Missed, tonight uh and it was pretty.
Funny THE ucla softball pitcher threw over one hundred and
fifty pitches tonight And plank you called every single one of? Them, well,
yeah made me late for. Work no one expected. It
(01:39:45):
Arnie Taylor tinsley threw every single pitch of the postseason FOR. Ucla,
wow and tonight she set AN Ncaa World Women's College
World series record for most pitches thrown in a, game
No one in the history of the. Sport in her
(01:40:05):
final game as a member of THE Ucla bruins as
a college, pitcher threw one hundred and eighty one pitches
in a game.
Speaker 3 (01:40:14):
Tonight that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:40:16):
Again she's thrown one forty three earlier this, year uh
one twenty, two but one hundred and eighty one. Pitches
can you imagine for a moment a baseball pitcher throwing
one hundred and eighty one pitches in a? Game.
Speaker 2 (01:40:31):
NO i still think of What Billy martin and The
a's and how many complete games did he have when
his starting rotation was like over one hundred or something
insane like.
Speaker 3 (01:40:40):
That and that's the last time we've ever heard of
something to that.
Speaker 1 (01:40:42):
Effect absolute. Insanity But JASON. B, diamond thanks for pointing
out what was crazy and wild about THAT ucla loss
To Texas. Tech one hundred and eighty one pitches thrown
By Taylor. Tinsley All, right we got a. Break when
we come, Back i've got some audio to get to
from the week that was for The. Knicks Josh hart
has been talking quite a. Bit we'll Get arnie's take
(01:41:04):
if he likes the idea of rest, or if he
worries about. Rust and Then arnie's picks are coming up
right around the. Corner it's a Busy sunday night into A,
monday the first day Of june twenty twenty six is
happening live right here On Fox Sports. Radio all, right
It's arnie In plank here On Fox Sports. RADIO i
(01:41:28):
wanted to follow up on one thing That Todd furman
said from last, hour and you seem to be on
board with. This, yeah big believer that one og and
an ob can be a big time difference.
Speaker 3 (01:41:41):
Maker oh that seriously, ABSOLUTELY i was worried when he went.
Speaker 2 (01:41:46):
Down first of, All thank goodness he was able to
get that, rest not have to come back in the
series and really get himself.
Speaker 3 (01:41:53):
Healthy he's a big part of the.
Speaker 2 (01:41:55):
Team he's. Good we're gonna need him also defensively, also
and he's so good at that corner three it just
opens up the. Defense so, no, absolutely we need. Him
he's a big part of that.
Speaker 1 (01:42:06):
Team, well here's what your, Coach Mike brown sat on
the versatility Of ananobi But o.
Speaker 12 (01:42:13):
Geez extremely versatile. Guard and you know the luxury of
having a guy like that is he's long, enough athletic,
enough strong enough to guard, quick smaller. Guys he's obviously
got the size and athletices leticism to guard big wings
(01:42:35):
and then he's got the strength and the length and
the intelligence to guard bigger. Guys so having a guy
like that gives us a ton of versatility to be
able to move him around knowing that he can, adapt, slash,
adjust or whatever you want to call it on to.
Fly and that's, why at the end of the, day you,
(01:42:58):
KNOW i do sort of like, you but you guys were.
Wrong he should have been the first team on defense
because of his. Versatility and it's shown throughout the course
of the most important time during the, year which is the,
playoffs and will continue to show going into the.
Speaker 1 (01:43:12):
Finals there you, Go.
Speaker 2 (01:43:15):
Nanobe can Guard, wemby But wemby can't Guard. Anenobi and
that's the difference, there Because ananobe could bring him out
to the three point, line And wemby does no good
to anybody guarding anybody at the three point. Line so you,
know if he gives him the open, Shot anobi can hit.
That if he goes out to guard, Him anenobe can
go around. Him so it's it's you, know Can ananobi
(01:43:39):
slow him?
Speaker 3 (01:43:40):
Down it's so.
Speaker 2 (01:43:40):
Tough how do we know officially how Tall wemby? Is
is he seven five seven? SIX i mean he's just
so tough to guard what he. Does sometimes he doesn't
even have to jump for crying out.
Speaker 1 (01:43:52):
Loud you. Know if he's listed on the wiki page
of seven foot.
Speaker 2 (01:43:57):
Four, YEAH i don't believe.
Speaker 1 (01:43:59):
That but if you go back and why AND i
know nobody's going to do, this but if you go
back and watch game one of The Spurs thunder, Series
okase tried to do some of, that like putting a
smaller guy on, him, right The caruso did it a,
bit it did it didn't it didn't, work.
Speaker 2 (01:44:15):
You, Know christy and that that, is that's a little bit.
Ridiculous but he only had twenty two points in game.
Seven if you would have told Me wemby would only
have twenty two points on the road in a game number,
Seven i'd, say, well they probably didn't win the. Game
and that's exactly what you would be hoping, For. Chris
IF i told you before the game you had them
the twenty, two you'd be very happy with.
Speaker 1 (01:44:34):
That be. HAPPY i feel like they won the. Game, yeah,
exactly ho with.
Speaker 2 (01:44:38):
YOU i, mean but you had, injuries you had two
guys that didn't play, well and all that, considered they
had seven guys in double. Figures all their starters were
in double. Figures champagny was hitting. Threes they stretched the
defense so Even wemby with twenty, two they were able
to pull off the.
Speaker 1 (01:44:53):
Victory champagne hitting threes out of? Nowhere was? That was?
It every? Series you he's some guy that just shows
up and starts banging threes And champinni was the guy
For San antonio and Ok see had no. Answer all,
Right arnie's picks are coming. Up but, first for one
final time, Tonight steve The sagari's in the house with
(01:45:14):
everything that's trending in the world of, sports for one final,
time what's, Up?
Speaker 5 (01:45:18):
Steve before we get to The Major League BASEBALL i
have an answer of who could pitch that many? Pitches
there is a Legendary angels home game Against boston Where
Nolan ryan was the starting, pitcher AND i looked up
and found the box. Score it was A friday night.
Game attendance listed at eleven, thousand but it wound up
a four hour. Game Nolan ryan against The Red sox
(01:45:40):
And Louis Tiant. Luisa it went extra. Innings Nolan ryan
pitched thirteen. Innings. Wow nineteen, strikeouts ten, walks and according
to his pitching, coach who was keeping track of pitches
as the night went, on over two hundred pitches in the,
game thirteen innings. Worth that's. Crazy The angel it, said no.
(01:46:04):
Decision The angels won in the fifteenth inning Against Louis,
tiant the starter who was still in the. Game he
pitched all of, it fourteen and a third and took the.
Loss that's genuinely. Astounding and then there's The yankee game.
Again we talked about, this a near forty five minute
top of the third inning without a home. Run The
(01:46:26):
yankees scored thirteen. Times they wound up winning thirteen eights at.
Speaker 2 (01:46:31):
The a's like ten runs before they even gotten.
Speaker 5 (01:46:33):
Out aside from, that an no, runs no hits the
rest of the day for The. Yankees BUT ap gives
a stat that you probably could have guessed that in
the last fifty years Of Major League, baseball if a
team scores at least eleven times in an, inning they
are undefeated in those. Games one twelve and. Zero since
the bit Night.
Speaker 2 (01:46:52):
Yankees he's had the hold. On they only won by
five and there was runners on, base and.
Speaker 5 (01:46:56):
YEAH i notice start bringing in the closer to go
that silent offensively after a thirteen run early. Inning it's
a little. Stunning San francisco scored in all but one
inning today and one At, colorado nineteen to. Six, padres
the worst hitting team in, baseball lost four to two At.
(01:47:16):
Washington The padres do get to play an easier opponent
as the season goes, along but nothing like The angels
have coming. Up The angels are almost the worst team in.
Baseball about a game away from, that they'll be Hosting
colorado On. Monday they're the worst team in. Baseball, yeah
twenty two and thirty, eight tied With detroit for the worst.
Record detroit has lost four in a. Row they lost
(01:47:37):
two to one at The White sox. Today tigers have
lost twenty one of twenty. Five The angels were five
to two losers At Tampa. Bay on the positive, Side
milwaukee Has Jacob mazerowski on the. Mound my, goodness was
he good again? Today seven, innings eight, strikeouts two nothing
the final At. Houston this is a guy who throws
one hundred miles an hour. Routinely so for the month Of,
(01:47:59):
May mszowski went five and zero with AN era of
zero point two to. Three wow opponents batted one oh
nine against. Him in the month Of. May texas led
four to nothing in the first Beat Kansas city sixty.
Three The royals have lost six in a. Row, boston
with six runs top of the, seventh won nine to
four At. Cleveland The Cleveland guardians are first in The Al,
(01:48:20):
central but just one game ahead of The White, sox
who not that long, ago were the pits Of Major League.
Baseball pittsburgh sent The twins to a fifth straight, loss
nine to. Three baltimore was up nine nothing after six
innings and Beat toronto nine to. Five Blue jays Outfielder
Jesus sanchez left with a bruise. Wrist he was hurt
by a ball thrown by a young fan who wanted
(01:48:42):
to play. Catch oh my. Gosh apparently there was a
misunderstanding the ball got thrown from the stands during a.
Break sanchez had to leave the. Game Wow mets ten
to one Over. Miami mets have won four. Straights marlins
have lost five. Straight Juan soto with a grand slam
in twenty six games this past, month twenty one RBIs
(01:49:02):
For soto and twenty runs. Scored cincinnati beat The braves
six to, four but red Shortstop Elie Dale cruz left
with a hamstring. Injury Ronald, acuna suddenly getting hot for The,
braves homered for a four straight. Game His atlanta team
has a record of forty and twenty Now seattle won
it six. Straight they're doing this without the Injured Cal
rawley ten inning win Over arizona three to, two and
(01:49:24):
The sunday night game Was Saint louis over The cubs
five to. One DID i mention The dodgers nine to
one Over. Philadelphia la scored in every inning after the,
first including three solo, homers but that offense was nothing
next to The yankees and The giants. Games in THE
Ncaa Baseball Tournament number, ONE ucla was. Eliminated teams that
advanced to next weekend Include North carolina And, kansas Also,
(01:49:46):
Texas georgia and. Others and excitement at The Women's College World.

try to affect my appearance on the show. Tonight there's
two things THAT i didn't see on The Roman numeral
(01:51:09):
rundown That i'm a little bit. Disappointed oh, no And
Ian roddy are producer whom you usually try to make
for who a Producer Ian roddy who had a couple
of things on here that you Didn't there is nothing
you like to obsess over more than a Potential Jalen brown.
Speaker 3 (01:51:25):
Trade he's not gonna get. Traded he's not gonna get.
Speaker 2 (01:51:28):
Traded matter of, Fact austin said they're gonna keep him
in datum and they're going to add another piece of the.
Speaker 3 (01:51:34):
Puzzle they're gonna go for a big.
Speaker 2 (01:51:35):
Three SO i used to think that it was a
strong possibility that he was gonna trade. It BUT i
just saw this two days. AGO i don't even know
IF i have the. ARTICLE i might have sent it to.
You but they're not gonna Trade Jaylen. Brown they're gonna
keep him and bring him back for another.
Speaker 1 (01:51:49):
YEAR i will, SAY i think that we have lost our,
minds our collective proverbial, Minds Arnie spanier when it comes
to projecting trades for all these different websites out.
Speaker 2 (01:52:03):
There you see the ONE i gave you, About, Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:52:06):
See, well, This, NO i don't think this. Is this
is What Bleacher report came up, with which was a
four team trade that would involve The, celtics The, pistons The,
rockets and The, pelicans and that in the, End Jalen
brown would somehow end up with The. Rockets, well The
(01:52:29):
celtics would Have By, Murphy Jabari Smith junior and a
first round pick somehow From. Phoenix wow, right who even
has the time to try to come up with a
four team trade like. That here's another. One this is From,
oh go, ahead oh the ONE i.
Speaker 2 (01:52:47):
Said you Said Oklahoma city could trade there, too first
round picks this summer to attempt to move Up. Inland Cam, Boozer,
YEAH i talked about that one.
Speaker 1 (01:52:57):
Earlier, Okay i've seen that out, there BUT i don't
know if any of, them if any of this is, True,
like for, instance here's any. Snu The warriors would Receive Jalen.
Brown The celtics would Receive Jimmy butler at twenty twenty
six first round pick and a twenty twenty eight first
round unprotected.
Speaker 5 (01:53:15):
Pick why would you want?
Speaker 1 (01:53:16):
THAT i don't, know because it's a dumb trade and
everyone just starts throwing things out. THERE i saw there
was a, couple, well this was one we talked about
three weeks, ago The Jalen williams Two washington and then
The thunder would get the number one pick in the.
Draft but you, know it's just all these, ideas and
(01:53:38):
you usually are the person that falls for these most
of the.
Speaker 2 (01:53:40):
Times, yeah but and there's a lot of big there's
a lot of big names that can be. Had if
you think That Jaylen brown's there for the, Taking Anthony
davis is certainly there for the. TAKING i really Believe
lebron's there for the. Taking matter of, fact If i'm The,
clippers that would have been my number one target going After.
LEBRON i think there's a small window of opportunity for
(01:54:04):
The clippers to try to make a run at The
lakers and overtake. Them for the city Of La let's be,
honest it's always been A laker, town always been A dodger.
Town but now with new, Ownership lakers probably won't win
a championship next. Year if you can Get, lebron you,
know the best guy perhaps in the history of THE,
nba you, know put some people around. Them you, know
(01:54:27):
they Have Kawhi leonard, there maybe you get more popularity
than The lakers right.
Speaker 1 (01:54:32):
Now and then one. MORE i cannot believe he didn't
have this on the Rundown Texas Tech joey, McGuire you're,
Beloved Big twelve throwing the gauntlet, out talking, trash claiming
they would buy out the first weekends, opponents and they
Want texas in the opening weekend because said his second
(01:54:53):
and third stringers could go undefeated against their, schedule, which
by the, Way sarks probably. Right you, KNOW i know
this isn't gonna, happen BUT i would love For texas to, Say,
okay we'll do. It we'll meet, You Jerry, world let's,
go BECAUSE i Think texas would kick the crap out of.
Them number, one they don't have a quarterback right. Now
but you know it's not gonna. Happen what do you
(01:55:14):
make of that scenario from The big twelve spring?
Speaker 3 (01:55:17):
Meetings, OH i eat that stuff. UP i love.
Speaker 6 (01:55:19):
That.
Speaker 2 (01:55:20):
YEAH i wish they would schedule AND i wish they
would play. Them we need more games like. That, UNFORTUNATELY
i think we're going in the other direction and we're
not having Any we're not going to have that many.
Speaker 1 (01:55:30):
Agreed all, right, man let's get our. Final by the,
way what.
Speaker 2 (01:55:32):
Did you think about What signetti had to say after
he paid for his.
Speaker 1 (01:55:36):
Championship the hardest thing for me to understand is how
people can tell you that the spending is out of
control and it needs to, stop but they keep on.
Speaker 2 (01:55:48):
Spending, YEAH i have three with the.
Speaker 1 (01:55:51):
Championship i'm Just it's like IF i keep coming home
With amazon packages on the front porch and tell my
wife are my, Daughters, hey this isn't. Sustainable you gotta
stop ordering stuff Off. Amazon and then IF i come
on the next, Day arnie and there is more boxes
on the front, porch and then there is more of the,
(01:56:13):
fire doesn't that not make a lot of? Sense? NOW
i will, say if you don't, spind you're gonna get.
LAPPED i, mean you're we're seeing that in places all
you have to spend to keep up with The. Joneses
So i'm willing to hear that it's unsustainable to keep
up with the. Spending BUT i don't think they're gonna do.
(01:56:34):
ANYTHING i don't think this new bill's gonna. PASS i
think college football is just gonna look at it and, say,
hey we got to ride this until the bottom falls
out because there's no way to really stop it unless
they make them, employees, right that's all you can, do
and allow it to be, collective collectively. Bargained and no
one wants to go down that. Road, NO i think
(01:56:54):
it's so rich whenever people tell you that there's a
spending problem and they're the ones spending all the. Money all,
right when we come, back we'll put a rap on
the show with what everyone came. For, Yes arnie's picks
and he may have ruined him, earlier but we'll find
out next On Fox Sports. RADIO i don't know if
you Caught michael's tweet that he sent the, show but
(01:57:17):
he's calling you.
Speaker 3 (01:57:18):
Out OH i didn't see, It.
Speaker 1 (01:57:21):
Arnie how can you possibly root against The spurs When
i'm wearing My Sean elliott. Jersey i've had it since
nineteen ninety. SIX i was wearing it on The Memorial
Day miracle twenty seven years. Ago, hey you're rooting against
one of your guys, There Shawn. Elliott in the history
he had Of San, Antonio.
Speaker 3 (01:57:38):
Carter bryant's on The San antonio that's right.
Speaker 1 (01:57:41):
THERE i was talking about.
Speaker 3 (01:57:41):
That, yeah, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:57:43):
There's a shadier view at.
Speaker 2 (01:57:45):
All, no not at. All i'm sorry about those. Guys
what CAN i? DO i, think, so, yeah they'll just
have to take the big Al, so by the, Way
Carter brian had a pretty good takedown OF sga AND
i can't believe they didn't call.
Speaker 3 (01:57:58):
It uh they just called it a common.
Speaker 2 (01:58:00):
FOUL i thought that was kind of.
Speaker 1 (01:58:01):
Crazy you know what is also kind of interesting is
The spurs went real bullyball at the end Of game,
five whenever they were in trouble and they were, losing
and they just they SHOVED sga a few. Times there
was there was a guy that came to the game
THAT i didn't even know was in the league, anymore
that started fouling. People so maybe it.
Speaker 3 (01:58:23):
Worked you won't work against The, KNICKS i promise you.
Speaker 1 (01:58:25):

it this, far and you guys all SO i was,
crazy and well he wrote a.
Speaker 3 (01:58:33):
Softball we didn't write.
Speaker 1 (01:58:34):
Back and right. Back, yeah in, fairness you do do
this every single year without fail so.
Speaker 3 (01:58:40):
Without a, thing so think it is the first.
Speaker 1 (01:58:42):
Year, yeah here's his. Picks Arnie spaniard and the stinking
genius showing why he's the stinking. Genius take it, away
where are we, Going, Arnie.
Speaker 3 (01:58:50):
Let's go give me a little, music put me in the.
Speaker 2 (01:58:52):
Mood i've been waiting over what fifty, years well actually
since nineteen ninety nine for My knicks to go back
to the, finals and now you finally believe. ME i
tried to tell you this year that this was our,
year that this was the year The knicks were going
to make it to the, finals and you laughed at.
Me you had Ha you don't know what you're talking.
(01:59:15):
About you think of just another pretty. Face there's a
REASON i got hired here At Fox Sports radio.
Speaker 3 (01:59:21):
Other than just eye.
Speaker 2 (01:59:22):
Candy game, One knicks Win game one on the road
against San. Antonio put that in the. Books they go
up one game to nothing and they show why they're
the dominant. Team they'll have to fight off a little
rust because of the, rest but that's. Okay knicks take game,
one they come, back San antonio shows a little, muscle they,
(01:59:42):
Fight they win game, two series tight at one game a.
Piece then they go back to the garden and forget about.
Speaker 3 (01:59:49):
It it is.
Speaker 2 (01:59:51):
Ov er when you're going back To Madison Square. Garden
not only Does San antonio not, win they don't even
keep it within double. Figures knicks take game, Three knicks
take game. Four i'll give The spurs game five back
In San, antonio and we put all the chips in
the middle For game six as we win by eight
(02:00:14):
points and win THE Nba, championship and we're all going
to be crying and partying out there In. Manhattan so
there you have my. Picks do with them as you,
please no longer strictly for entertainment purposes.
Speaker 1 (02:00:26):
Only so, wait you're BASICALLY i thought they were gonna
win the first two games and you have one of the. Four,
guy what are we playing like the first to win?
Speaker 2 (02:00:35):
Five, No, NO i HAD i split the first. Two
THEN i had the if they win the first, two
then they'll.
Speaker 3 (02:00:41):
Win it in.
Speaker 2 (02:00:41):
Four and you know that THE nba won't allow.
Speaker 3 (02:00:45):
That they'll bring out Like Scott foster to referee the
next game or.
