Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
There are two types of people in life, two types
of people only to only two types of people. All right,
we'll get to those two types of people in just
the second.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Carry Roads.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
But I gotta tell you I feel good today. I
don't know why, I just I feel good today. Had
an anniversary dinner with my wife last night. Our anniversary
is smack dab in the middle of the week. It's
on Wednesday, Happy anniversary Day, So we were like, hey,
do you do it the weekend before the weekend?
Speaker 3 (00:30):
After?
Speaker 2 (00:31):
We did a dinner last night. So high quality food,
Eat as much as you can, and then you're not
as bloated if you were to pick out on something
awful with a high quality of it.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
So I'm feeling good.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Plus we've got two Game seven's in basketball today, so
much going on.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
I feel good, Carry Roads.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
What are you and the missus go to dinner for
the anniversary.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
We went to a steakhouse.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
A steakhouse and huh, I've I'll just I'll keep this
short and as quick as I can. On our wedding,
one of the options that we had on our menu
was a braised short rib. Delicious, So our first anniversary
that we had, we went to a spot, a little resort,
and they brought the food to your room. I braced
(01:16):
short rib. Last that they had a braced short rib
on the menu. But I'm like, I'm at a steakhouse. Yes,
I can't go braised short rib. I had to go
with a steak. Now, you'll probably be disappointed in me
when I tell you I want a file a. People
want a New York strip or a sirloine. Nope, went
with the eight ounce fil a, loaded up on the sides.
(01:37):
Feeling good today.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
You know it's funny. That's my go to as well.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
Dan.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
That's why we're partnering. See what I mean. I'm a
full a guy as well. Obviously the marble that comes
with the New York strip and all that stuff. They
sell it like it's you know, like it's essential. But
a nice juicy center cut file a eight ounces it's
just enough, it's perfect and you get everything else around it.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
It really is.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Yeah, eat the whole thing. Look at month, Chris MONSI.
By the way, they had a cauliflower stick.
Speaker 6 (02:07):
If you would have eat out, my mouth is water
because I can enjoy a steak like I just have
to think back of ten years ago when I last
had a steak vegetarian exactly, but a cauliflower steak is delicious,
but a juicy But.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Maybe maybe maybe you'll turn off vegetarian in the summer
of Manzi, which coming in, it's.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Just coming out.
Speaker 7 (02:25):
Kicked him right now, Carrie, kick him in the ship.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
I'm long not that long month, I laughs, to work
there according to Manzi is coming up?
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Maybe maybe.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Well, I know that we've got two Game sevens in
the NBA, and I know that we have a Game
seven in the Stanley Cup Laffs coming up between the
Canadians and Lightning, So we will keep you locked in
on all of those happenings. There are two types of
people in this world. They're the there's the person who
wants the greatest series matchups to go seven games, and
(02:58):
then there's the people who are today. And maybe that's me.
I will be honest, zero interest in the Magic and
Pistons when the series started.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Sorry, Chris Purfett, I know what it's like. I'm a
Bucks fan.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
People felt the same way five years ago, six years
ago when they were the number one seed. No someone
made I didn't say you could talk. I just apologize
to you, So that's okay. So then there's fine, Okay,
you don't need this input. I was gonna have a game.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
I just want to lay this out. Then the floor
is yours.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
There's the people who want pistons magic in Cavs Raptors
to go seven games because the series wasn't as interesting
at the beginning, but making it go seven games makes
it interesting. So what type of person are you carry Rhodes.
Are you just in like Chris Purfet with pistons and
magic no matter what, or you like me that's like,
(03:49):
all right, good, we got game seven. I can actually
care about magic pistons in Cavs Raptors.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
I think it depends on the game, right.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
So that's why when you say it's only two people,
I want to hear what you're gonna say. Yes, I
always want the series like this, where you know, we
talked about it before this series started. I thought this
would be one of those ones. So I had anticipation
that here we go. No, yes, yes, two weeks ago
I had that a little bit, so me wanting to
see this go this distance for these two teams, Yes,
(04:18):
because both of these teams are really good and they
play similar styles, so I wanted to see which style
would win.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
So yes, interested in this one, the Cavs and the Raptors. No,
not as much.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
I thought the Cavs would win that series pretty pretty easily,
and it didn't happen that way.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
So I am.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
I am excited to see if James Harden and Donovan
Mitchell can get it done because their track record says no.
So interested in that part of it, yes, But as
far as going into the series, I would always want
a longer series.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Chris, you got something to say, Guys.
Speaker 8 (04:49):
All I was gonna say is like, look, the I
was just talking with a friend and like the Pistons
have been who they have been for my entire life
and before that, and that they played the ugliest games
imaginable ever. They love just dragging games down into the
mud and just being ugly as hell, And that's all
I had to say. This is like, maybe that hurts
your your interest.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Too, No, it doesn't. This is what happens. And I
feel guilty because I get just as mad. I understand
where you're coming from. If the Pistons make it into
the Eastern Conference Finals, they're back in the conversation again,
just like they were twenty years ago, going to the
NBA Finals, winning an NBA title, going back the next
year with Chauncey Billups and Rashid Wallace. They're a part
(05:28):
of the conversation. But there are teams that come in
and fall off. It happens in every sport. The Eastern
Conference this year and this is this is actually something
we did talk about as well, Carrie is you had
a side of the bracket in the Eastern Conference that
had three of the four must have teams in the
East for the NBA to be excited about. We're talking
(05:49):
about the Celtics, talking about the Knicks, We're talking about
the seventy six ers. They were in the portion of
the bracket where you had of the four teams there,
they were three of them. So it's great for the
NBA because for the in the NBA's thinking of this
is one of their marquee Eastern Conference teams that's going
to generate buzz. We'll make it to the Eastern Conference finals.
(06:09):
Unless Atlanta went on a run. Well, the Knicks dispatched
them pretty easily in Game six. That's an understatement. So
things were set up perfectly last night could have gone
anyway for the NBA. Honestly, the Sixers end up beating
the Celtics. We'll get to the Celtics in a second.
But so the NBA is sitting here being like, great,
this is awesome. Our three marquee teams are in the
(06:29):
not only in the playoff bracket, we are guaranteed to
have one in the Eastern Conference final. When there was
a period of time, Carrie, when the best teams in
the NBA, the Knicks, weren't making the playoffs, the Sixers
were going through the process, you didn't have these marquee teams, right,
You maybe only had the Celtics Miami. Wasn't that draw
the Bucks, For as much as I liked them, they
(06:51):
weren't a draw for people to be brought in the.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Market.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Teams in the East are the Knicks, Sixers, and Celtics
and be a part of the conversation. Honestly, just like
to Chicago Bulls were they became the conversation in the nineties, right,
they were it. They were it. But the Bulls brand
isn't the same of what it was thirty years ago.
So that's kind of my point on all of this.
So it's not to hate on the Pistons. If the
Pistons make it to a conference final, they are now
back into the conversation. But right now they haven't done
(07:18):
any of that. They've even got past the first round,
So that's what needs to be done today.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Yeah, No, the Pistons need is more than obviously the
Magic and they're coming out and playing like that on
their home floor today. But again, to be the number
one seed and to have all the success they had
this year throughout the year, to fall off in a
first round to a Magic team that's been up and
down all year would be a huge disappointment. But you
talked about the Pistons, you talk about the Bulls, you
talk about those teams that kind of peaked in different decades.
(07:43):
If the Pistons come back and win it, well, it
looks like they're in a good position right now. But
if they win this and actually pick up some steam
and making Eastern Conference finals, there are so many dormant
fans laying around. There are Pistons fans that will be
back and loud and in front of it. So you will,
I think you will feel that energy and that with
them if they make it that far.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
No doubt.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Absolutely, It's just they're not there yet. They're they're watching
this team in this game. Seven Raptors Caves coming up
a bit later on as well. We have to talk
about last night, because I think that there are I
think that there are two separate conversations, and I actually
want to focus on the Celtics because I just kind
of want to move on from Boston. I think we'll
(08:22):
continue to talk about Philly, and we'll talk about the
Philly aspect in the show. So you look at the
lineup that they put out with Jason Tatum out last night.
Lusevich didn't play. They had a starting lineup that included
Luca Garza. Yes, and the narrative that I heard afterwards
were right. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year,
(08:45):
and I just don't buy that for one second. You
can't cash in your chips carry and say all right,
we're now in it and have Jason Tatum come back
and then throw this one away as like this was
just this this one, this one didn't matter, This one
didn't matter to us. And I feel that some Boston
fans are talking out of both sides of their mouth,
(09:06):
and you can't have it both ways. You can't have
your cake, you need it too, using all the cliches
you want. I think last night was an absolute failure
for the Boston Celtics.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
It was yeah, you can't. You can't say you overachieved
in Boston. And the talk that was coming out early
in the year was from Jalen Brown, their superstar, saying,
we're not going to take a step back like they
intended to still be competitive and be good this year.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
Now to be second in the.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
East, I don't think that was their goal, but to
come out and be a team that can plug and play.
That's been part of their system because their system is
the system. It hasn't changed since they won the championship.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
Right.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
They shoot a lot of threes, they spread you out,
they played really good defense, and their guys are interchangeable.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
This same iteration of the Celtics.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Was that, now, if you looked at that game last
night and you looked at their rosters, Philly has the
better roster. And that's very clear cut and dry to
me when you look at who they have, who they
can put on the on the floor at a certain
times versus Boston, especially minus Jason Tatum, the Sixers in theory,
in my mind, was the better team right now. Losing
the Game seven in Boston, you expect Boston to come
(10:12):
out and possibly still win that game, though, you know
what I mean, Like, there was no point where I
was like, I don't I didn't trust and you know
the part about this, I didn't trust Philly, and I
think that's where my mind goes.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
But Boston in.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
This year, the way they played, the way that Jalen
Brown played, you still thought. I thought that they would
still find a way to win that game. And so
for them to try to say now that they lost,
this is just this is just a year for us
to build and try to be better and you know
all the things that are coming out right now.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
That's not the way Boston operates. I thought Jalen Brown
was one of the biggest losers from last night. And
I'm not calling him a loser. I'm just saying, if
you're talking about who is a winner, who was a loser,
I think it was Jalen Brown. He had opportunities to
hit shots down the stretch when they could have taken
the lead, could have pulled even on multiple Okay, and
if he carries this team to victory in a Game
(11:04):
seven over a red hot Philadelphia team that has all
of their star players back and healthy, and you Jalen
Brown lead a team that again is starting Baylor Shireman
and Luca Garza in the starting lineup. That is how
you cement your foundation. And it was there for them.
Peyton Pritchard had an opportunity for a quarter three ends
(11:26):
up missing that one. They miss shot after shot down
the stretch when it was there for them. And that
is also why I just feel you can't come away
from the season and say, oh, well, we had a
lot of changeover and we're getting ready for twenty twenty seven.
Damian Lillard for the Trailblazers, there was a conversation. He
admitted after the series that it didn't dawn on him,
(11:47):
but there may have been a way where he could
have maybe come back and played for Portland, whether it
was realistic or not, but it really wasn't. On the
forefront of it for Tatum, they rush him back. It's
these benchmarks. We saw it throughout the fall, we saw
it throughout the winter, all of these places that Jason
Tatum has been and then he comes back and it's
such a big ra ra thing that now the Celtics
in an Eastern Conference that could be for the taking
(12:08):
because again that people don't believe in the Detroit Pistons
and you have an opportunity last night at home. Tatum
is out because of the injury. I think that could
have played into his comeback, could have played into the
injury last night, and Jaln Brown having an opportunity to
make shots down the stretch which he missed on multiple occasions.
There is no way in the world that if you're
a Boston Celtics fan you could come away with a
(12:31):
silver lining in what happened last night. You had lost
to a team that you always beat. Yeah, and they
knew it, and Joel Emban talked about it. Yes, And
so that's my issue with Boston is can't have it
both ways. Man, Sorry, this was a disappointment. You're not
riding off and saying like, oh, what a year. We
weren't expecting much because when Jason Tatum came back, people
were expecting something and they didn't get it last night,
including Jason Tatum.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Oh, they're expecting a lot. People were picking them to
come out of the East.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Correct.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
I saw a lot of that. I didn't think they
were that good. I didn't think they were making out
of the East this year. But because again you can't,
I know that they think that, just that this league is,
you know, players are interchangeable. You can bring in guys
that are like like bodies or or similar games, and
you can come in and just plug and play.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
It doesn't work that way.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
You have to come in and play a season where
the continuity grows, the cohesiveness, cohesiveness grows, and you get
to be accustomed to where guys are going to be
on spots on the floor. You bring in Busvich, he
looks like a porzingis right. He can come in, he
can rebound, he can shoot threes and do certain things.
He didn't even get playing time against Joe el Embiid
where you need a big body. There was moments where
(13:32):
Jayleen Brown is guarding him for long periods of time,
and so you talk about Jaylen Brown not being to
make shots at the end.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
That's that's part of the reason.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
And so if you can't plug and play and put
guys in that you thought were the answer to certain
certain certain guys being gone and traded out, shipped out,
and you bring in and replace them if you can't
trust those guys to play, and you're asking Jalen Brown
to guard one of the most unstoppable forces on the
floor when he's healthy, and Jaylen Brown the energy I mean,
and Joel Embiid the energy that it takes a defense him.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
He's gonna miss out down the streets. You just can't
do it.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Yeah, and Joel Embiid chowed, Joelabie took offense when Dylan
Brock was guarding him. It was so bad for the
Celtics last night, Carrie. They had guys with fractions as
jersey numbers, Like that's how far down the line, Like
there was somebody who I think wore one quarter. It
was the debate there, Luca Garza is wearing fifty two,
saw twenty eight on the court last night, Like what
are these numbers?
Speaker 3 (14:22):
What do you do?
Speaker 2 (14:23):
I know, I know they retire a lot of numbers
in Boston, but that's how bad it was for the
Celtics last night. I think there was someone who wore
point six. I'm not sure. Yeah, it was really odd,
but that's how bad it was for Boston. The good
thing is we don't have to see that green for
another five months, not until October. I don't know if
I even loved the seventy six ers, but I'm just
glad Boston's not moving on Dan.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
I'm not gonna love I love the semi six. I
want to see I want to see the process actually.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
Doing something, you know what I mean. Okay, we'll talk.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
About that about this forty five minutes because we have
Adam Kappel on our NFL Inn Saturay joins us at
six twenty five Eastern every week. Adam's based in the
Philly area, so we'll do some Philly talk at six
o'clock because I think there.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Is a whole conversation about them.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
We could talk about your newfound love in Philadelphia. Those
pistons up on the Magic seventy one fifty six, five
minutes to go in the third quarter, Chris is Raving
raising his arm in this series, I wouldn't.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
I'd wait a little bit. Considering what happened in Game six.
We were there at Buffalo Wild Wings.
Speaker 8 (15:25):
I almost wanted to have the game turned off from
the TV on Friday, and I'm glad I didn't. And
even Scott was like, what the hell happened?
Speaker 2 (15:35):
And the Pistons survived to live another day. Bo Benson
this year, he's our executive producer. Manti Blanjos is at
the news desk. Coming up later in the show, we
will reveal what I scored at Riviera Country Club last Monday.
We have video. What we did is we threw this
out to you the listener. What was my score going
(15:55):
to be combined on the par three sixth doal and
on the par four toll at Riviera Country Club.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
This is the site of numbers. Those are rookie numbers.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
That's the site of the US Women's Open. I was
able to play the course on Monday. In a preview
day Carrie wrote down his score. There's still time.
Speaker 9 (16:13):
Work those numbers.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Those are rookie numbers.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Okay, Matthew McConaughey, if you want in, feel free. But
if there's a tie, if people guess the same number,
we'll we'll have a drawing for the winner. But you
can guess the total score. Still time to do so,
but the voting ends at seven o'clock Eastern time. Will
reveal what the score was. Plus we'll get to hear
(16:36):
the interview. Portions of the interview with defending US Women's
Open champion Maya Stark, where I asked the crew, Hey,
do you guys have any questions for the US Women's
Open champion? Carrie, you did. Shay Mogan Goard was our
executive producer. She's actually going to pop in Mary Max
here later on. And Brie was at the news desk
where Monty is today. So we've got the replay of
(16:57):
what Maya Stark answered with the questions that we have
last week. We'll all do that later on in the show.
Here's Carrie Rhodes. I'm Dan Byer. There is one piece
of basketball news that had people all up in arms
this week, and it has nothing to do with the NBA.
You're not gonna want to miss it. It's next here
on Fox Sports Sunday.

Fox Sports Sunday. He's the All Pro carrier Roads. I'm
Dan Beyer. A lot going on in the world of sports.
Two Game seven's one right down the second half, other
one coming up in a little bit.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
Then you've got a Game seven on the ice.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
Mm hmm. For that and so much more, let's go
to the news desk. Mancy Belanos is here to give
us the latest. We would have golf. The Golf's over
they had to move up to tea times today at
the Cadillac Championship.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Moncey, what have we got going on today on this Sunday?
Speaker 9 (18:57):
As you mentioned Dan, a lot going on on three
game sevens, including the one on the ice. But right
now it's the Magic and the Pistons that are going
at it for Game seven. The Pistons ended the second
quarter on a high note thanks to Tobias Harris, and
they've started the third quarter.
Speaker 7 (19:14):
On a high note.
Speaker 9 (19:15):
So right now they lead the Magic seventy eight to
sixty with about ninety seconds to go in the third quarter.
Paolo Bancaro doing what he can for Orlando. He's the
leading scorer thirty points, seven rebounds. Kate Cunningham he's got
twenty six points and eight assists for Detroit. The Raptors
and the Cavaliers will tip off for their Game seven
at four thirty East. Well, excuse me, seven thirty Eastern
(19:36):
time from Cleveland, And yeah, that Game seven on the ice.
It's the Canadians and the Lightning and the puck is
going to drop at six Eastern. At the Cadillac Championship,
Cameron Young won it at nineteen under par overall. Scottie
Shuffler did come in second place, but he ended six
shots back. When it comes to baseball, the Braves currently
lead the Rockies in Colorado eighty five, top of the
seventh inning. A's are on top of the Guardians at
(19:58):
Home three one. Bottom of the fifth inning. The Mets
lead the Angels two to one, bottom of the fifth.
About to start in La Royals have a three to
one lead over the Mariners in Seattle, top of the
fifth inning. The White Sox, who have won five in
a row, are losing right now to the Padres three
to one top of the fifth inning, but that winning
streak continues for the Cubs. They've won five, defeating the
Diamondbacks eight four. The Yankees took down the Orioles eleven three.
(20:20):
Aaron Judge, with his thirteenth home run of the season,
ties Murakami for the Chicago White Sox leads the Majors
right now.
Speaker 7 (20:28):
The Dodgers snapped.
Speaker 9 (20:29):
Their losing streak and the Cardinals winning streak with the
four to one win, and the Rays walks it off
against the Giants two to one in ten innings. San
Francisco has lost six in a row. Billy has outscored
the Marlins seven two. We also have some NASCAR going
on out of the Texas Motor Speedway and Chase Elliott
is currently in the lead after one hundred and fifty
(20:49):
six laps.
Speaker 7 (20:50):
So, as you said, a lot going on.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
But back to you guys, Monty, I was waiting on
you could talk about my Yankees because you didn't say
anything in the pre so I was like, what's going on?
Speaker 9 (20:58):
I apologize. I just threw one in there that was,
you know, a tie game. I didn't even mention the
Dodgers in that one, so it wasn't against you.
Speaker 7 (21:05):
It was just in the moment.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
You guys also didn't mention Caitlyn Clark, who you both
said was more popular than Aaron Jonson.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
But at the dog's part of the point.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
I mean, it was w n B a season starting
on Friday, right now, where's more of the buzz carry
That's true, Moncey Manzi should.
Speaker 7 (21:30):
Right now because it's pre season. Because it's pre season.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
The way, who cares?
Speaker 2 (21:35):
You don't need to team up like you both probably
single handed you could take so I don't need to
team up. But if you want you to make quick
work of it that day that that argument day, it
was it was four otten one, it was it was
felt like it was hoosiers. You know, my team is
on the floor. I was the only one out there.
You defended the point on saying that Aaron Judge was
(21:58):
more popular than Caitlyn Clark was It wasn't that Caitlin
Clark wasn't popular. It was just that I felt Judge
had the longevity of the last few years. Now Caitlin
Clark had the injury last year, maybe not as much
of a buzz coming into this season. That could all
change this summer. So that was just part of my argument.
I think it's a fun argument. No, let's wait, let's
wait until the season start. If you know what chrich
(22:21):
this week, we're talking about famous person you know, famous people,
and they said, you know, Michael Jackson was the most
you know, famous person you know in the nineteen eighties,
and I, yeah, I thought that that maybe the Queen
or Princess die would have would have rivaled it. And
they stuck to their guns, and I could totally see
their point. They're probably right just because of like pandemonium.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
Did you did you see that video Dan of when
I met Michael Jackson. I thought that they were like friends,
like you know that. I think it was like maybe, yeah,
like one of those things where like like only five
people in the world and all what going through And
I felt like it was like those two had like
you know of whatever. But no, I didn't do it
explain No, no, I mean you may have had a point,
(23:01):
but I may have been friends. But the way she
was looking at him, she was in all yeah, it's
all that type of energy.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
I think the guys were right on that one, even
though I tried to make a counterpoint. So I do
admit when I'm wrong, and I am wrong plenty. I
also feel that sometimes people don't admit that certain things
don't matter. So when we talk about topics on this show,
usually it's a lot about what's happening on the weekend.
But there was something that happened this week carry and
it's happened again and again, and it's something that we've
(23:26):
talked about, and it's this fascination with people to shoot
down the NCUBA wanting to expand the NCAA tournament from
sixty eight to seventy six teams, and a report this
week that it's gonna happen. It's gonna happen in time
for next year, and people just say, what to ruin?
Speaker 3 (23:43):
A great thing?
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Way to go, And I think people just are complaining
to complain because I honestly don't think that the expansion
of the tournament has any effect on why people like
the tournament.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
People like the.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
Tournament because of they get to fill out their brackets
and have the upsets.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Well, then complain about.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
Nil and the transfer portal because the upsets are out
the door. They're gone, They're not happening anymore. These games
of adding don't have anything to do with your bracket.
You're still going to be able to fill out a
bracket of some sort that would enter on Thursday. Because
we've had these first four games on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Now the NCAA is going to be calling them the
(24:26):
opening round games. But to me, it's just people wanting
to get mad about something instead of understanding what's really
going on. And I feel the expansion to seventy six
the only reason why people should get mad is it
puts us closer to expanding the tournament to ninety six,
which has been talked about at time of even allowing
(24:46):
more and more teams come in, but that would be
the only reason Otherwise, I don't think that there's a
lot that is going to change the NCAA Tournament for
what it is in its current form by adding these
eight new teams and four more games on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
Yeah, I mean, I'm one of those Dan I don't
want the expansion and I don't even know why.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
I just think it's been perfect the way that it was.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
And I think bringing on or adding new teams that
are on the bubble and all that talk when we
talk about you know, the bubble watching all those things,
now that gets extended. Now that means those teams that
weren't even in those final fours or those first four
out and all that, like, now they're going to be in.
But then there's gonna be another contention of that now.
(25:33):
So it's like when does it end? And I think
that's really what it boils down to me, Like when
does it end? Are you going to expand to ninety six?
And then for me, that would be a problem.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
Yeah, I think that would throw quite the wrench into
a lot of plans and you'd be making March Madness
that much bigger.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
But we're not there yet.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
The point that you bring up is maybe there aren't
sixty eight worthy NCAA tournament teams alone seventy six NCAA
worthy tournament teams, but I don't think that we care
about those teams. And I look at how the bracket
played out this year and Miami of Ohio was the
(26:12):
story in the regular season, and Miami of Ohio needed
to play in the first four. It's something that we
talked about and they ended up playing in that first four.
And you know what that Wednesday night of that that
was mus ctvah right, that like that was a game
that you wanted to watch. Another positive is I think
that opens that up. How about it now opens it
up for a conference champion in the regular season of
(26:35):
their league that gets upset in tournament play. This novel
affords them an opportunity to actually make the dance and
get in instead of being like, well, it's our automatic bid.
I think that's a positive to it. I'll tell you
another thing. We've had a couple of sixteen seeds upset
oh one. We saw Fairley Dickenson do it to Purdue
a couple of years ago, and UNBC the first to
(26:56):
do it to Virginia. Yeah, with the expansion of the
six eight to seventy six, we are not adding eight
more at large teams. We're adding four more at large
teams and four more opportunities really for sixteen seeds to
be playing those play in games. So what that's gonna
do carry is that is going to allow sixteen seeds
(27:19):
to be stronger than they were previously because we now
would have eight sixteen seeds. That means in the current
form or what it previously would be under the sixty
four team. I'm trying not to be confusing here. There
are only four sixteen seeds and there were four fifteen seeds,
but now if you have eight of them, those are
(27:40):
actually four fifteen seeds that are being disguised as sixteen seeds.
So you're going to have stronger sixteen seeds actually making
it through the bracket that could upset a number one
seed just because of how the addition of these numbers
works out. The sixteen seeds are no longer fifteens. And
I know I was joking about the Aaron Judge thing.
I'm not trying to pay myself on the back, but
(28:01):
I called this over a decade ago that I said
that there would be a sixteen seed upsetting a one
because of the expansion of the tournament, because the sixteen
seeds were actually some of those are good enough to
be fifteen seeds, and we had seen fifteen seeds upset
teams before. My point is, you're going to see a
few more upsets. You're going to see a sixteen upset
on one again in the next ten years. It's going
(28:21):
to happen with this expansion. You're going to get more
basketball on Tuesday and Wednesday. I don't know why that's
a bad thing. And you're going to allow these teams
that have lost conference tournaments maybe another shot to get
in that large bid and play in the tournament and
play in one of those opening round games. And I
don't know how that's a bad thing. And you're going
to still fill out the bracket the same way. And
if you didn't know if you were going to pick
Enzi State or Texas and you submitted your bracket on Monday,
(28:42):
you'll just have to do that a couple of more
times in your bracket.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
That's all that changes. And the pussback for me would
be dan.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
So you want to see obviously, I think you live
do you want to live in the chaos or do
you want to live in the better teams being there
down the stretch? Right, So, say we have more sixteens
beating a one, that six thing is not gonna make
it to the final four and win. No, So like,
do you want the chaos of that in the first round,
in the first weekend or do you want to see
the best things make it to the final four?
Speaker 2 (29:09):
I am fine, because then maybe a two or a
three seed would end up making a run that way
to the tournament. So just because it's the one, I
don't want to see all ones, right, Like to me
that that's actually boring. So if there's a sixteen against one,
just like, can we watch Siena in your duke team? Yeah,
struggle this Like that was like we're like, oh my goodness,
(29:31):
this could be happening. People said Sienna was misseeded, Siena
shouldn't have been a sixteen seed. Well, now, because of
how it works out and how all of those teams
that were sixteen seeds and fifteen seeds were automatically in
the tournament, and that is not going to change. That
is not going to change at all. It's just they're
(29:52):
going to be lowered down. So now you're gonna have
teams playing in maybe more twelve seeds, maybe more eleven
seeds for that opening round tournament. But it's really not
going to effect anything that would would affect your bracket.
To your point, maybe there is a sixteen that upsets,
you know, a one that you liked, that one. It
would have changed the tournament. If Duke was was out right,
you would have had that great regional final between Yukon.
(30:14):
It would have felt weird that Duke wasn't there. However,
I just think that's the way that we are in basketball,
and honestly, I guess the number one seeds can combat that.
With we saw how well nil played out in the
you know, in this tournament, with the Michigan ending up
cutting down the nets and what they were able to
do with the transfer portal, and the better teams are
going to be able to build their their squads maybe
(30:35):
better than previous number ones. But I just like we
saw with Sienna, there was a misseeding at that at sixteen,
and I think that the committee will there'll be there'll
be a sixteen seed that's probably a fourteen seed or
a thirteen seed.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
You know, And that's all. And that's always the big
botblem anyway, Dan, It's more than even expanding. It's mis seeding,
Like sure seam is so huge and so like adding
and so adding another layer of them having to see
right scare scares me. Yes, that makes it And I
think that's the bigger problem with me when I see
it all.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
I know, I was talking a lot of numbers, but
just to basically try to clear it up, the schools
that get the automatic bids, they're not adding four more
leagues that are worse. It's the same pool of schools.
But now we have to come up with more sixteen
seeds because we're playing more games, so we're funneling them
to the tournament. And the only way that you can
(31:27):
get more sixteen seeds are from fifteen seeds or and
then this case, misreading how good a team is and
maybe they should have been a fourteen seed, and then
we put them as a sixteen seed, and they prove
their way and they win their opening round game and
then they go and face a that's what's going to change.
So all of those things are going to happen. But
it's just the knee jerk reaction of everyone to complain
(31:49):
because there's going to be changed. But I just don't
think that the change is as much as people think
or or want it to be. It may look funky
on your newspaper, may look funky when you're bringing up
the bracket on line in your PDF file and trying
to make your picks, but it's really not going to
change much. He's Carrier Roads.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
I'm Dan Byer.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
It is Fox Sports Sunday, Pistons leading the Magic. Do
we have a score check on where that game is
right now? My computer froze, Manzi, Do you have where
we are in Pistons Magic at this point?
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (32:20):
Things are not looking good for the Magic. The Pistons
are still rolling. They're up ninety one to sixty eight
with nine minutes to go.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
There it is Magic set to disappear, Manci Belaniosa. Wow,
she is getting, according to Manzi, ready in a matter
of minutes. Be sure to subscribe to the Fox Sports

Speaker 3 (33:06):
I'm Dan Bayer.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Keeping our eye on some baseball, some basketball, some puck
and the Ponies.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
Yesterday, you enjoy that Kentucky Derby.
Speaker 4 (33:18):
I didn't watch any We should probably probably shouldn't talk
about Derby. Why Monty said, you know what, she hates it.
I didn't have to look over there, Dan, you saying
something about the Ponies. But you know, I'm a Louisville guy, Dan,
and so for me, I've been to the I've been
to the Kentucky Derby, and I've uh partaken in some
of the experience.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
So it's always a fun time surrounding it. Mancy. Okay,
and uh just.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
Uh just the stones throw away from where you played
college football. That's right over uh over for the Louisville
Cardinal Louis all right, you mentioned Mancy, it's that time,
and now it's.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
Time for absolutely. According to Monsey.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
All right, we'll see if there's any I guess we're about.
Speaker 9 (34:01):
To say absolutely, And now Carrie knows me well.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
According to Monsett.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
It's been a refreshing week in baseball.
Speaker 9 (34:08):
It really has been for two reasons in particular, and
one of them was watching Rob Thompson do an exit
press conference after he was fired from the Phillies.
Speaker 7 (34:18):
In a day where I feel like no one is
held accountable. We don't hold people accountable.
Speaker 9 (34:22):
People who should be held accountable avoid being held accountable,
it was nice to see a manager get fired understandably
so the Phillies will.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Not been good.
Speaker 9 (34:31):
But then go and actually speak to the media and
be the face. And then the best part was he
said all the right things that you would want to
hear on their way out. He gave credit to the
front office and said it's business.
Speaker 7 (34:43):
I get it.
Speaker 9 (34:44):
I love those guys. He said, this is a talented team.
I feel that they're going to turn it around, and
then he left the door open to possibly come back.
But what was really nice is that he actually held
a press conference after being fired, and he's not doing
this as no disrespect.
Speaker 7 (34:59):
But he didn't just get fired from the Marlins.
Speaker 9 (35:01):
He got fired from the Phillies, a team that is
expecting to win and where the media was not gonna
be easy on him, and he went out there and
spoke to them.
Speaker 7 (35:08):
I love that. Another refreshing part of baseball this week
that the Mets haven't.
Speaker 9 (35:12):
Fired their coach Carlos Mendoza because I don't think he's
the reason that the Mets are losing.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
There.
Speaker 9 (35:17):
I'm sorry you picked up Luis Robert Junior, who is
hurt all the damn time. Bobashett has not done what
you expected. They're not playing well. So sometimes I feel
like managers or coaches get fired when in reality it's
the players that need to be held accountable for what
they're doing on the field.
Speaker 7 (35:31):
So it's nice to see that the Mets are like,
there's nothing we can do.
Speaker 9 (35:34):
When you lost ten in a row in April, and
that fact came out that no team in the history
of baseball had lost ten or more in a row
in the month of April and made it to the playoffs.
At that point, you're like, so why are we gonna
fire this man.
Speaker 7 (35:43):
He's not gonna make a difference. So I refreshing on
both sides of it. I liked it.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
According to Monsey.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
Sometimes you gotta hate the game and not the play.
Speaker 7 (35:54):
Yes, don't hate the player all the time.
Speaker 9 (35:57):
Trey You Savage. You may have heard of that name
picture for the Blue Jays. He went far in the
World Series. He was in a podcast Hobby Never Sleeps,
and he revealed that when people send him cards like
baseball cards, to sign, he doesn't sign them and send
him back. In fact, he keeps them and gives them
to his family if he likes them. He said, don't
(36:18):
send them to me, You're not gonna get it back,
and he got dragged about it, people saying like, you're
not good enough to do that. Well, at the same time,
most people trying to get a signature from this.
Speaker 7 (36:29):
Man, it's for you to make money. You're probably not
a Trey.
Speaker 9 (36:32):
You Savage actual fan that you're gonna put this card
somewhere like I'm gonna bok Gary Roade's card in my
in my living room.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
Don't you worry?
Speaker 9 (36:38):
Like I don't blame him for saying that. In fact,
you should be happy. He said it out loud. So
now you don't waste your time sending him a card
because he doesn't want to make you money. But the
fact that he said he keeps them and gives them
to his family hilarious.
Speaker 7 (36:51):
Don't hate the player, hate the game.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
Okay, So I want it on this collect any helmets
there you do, and I don't go I want. I'm
sullied by autographs. Sure, I don't want an autograph on them.
I just want the helmet. I like the helmet. Yes,
I don't need to have a Patriots one with Tom
Brady signed.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
That does nothing for me. That's absolutely not no offense. Hey,
I would want you to sign a Jets or Cardinals.
I don't want a signature on it. I just want
the team.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Sure, But I would say in this case where I
think he's misguided, is the hobby is in such a
way that the signatures and the one of ten's in
the one on one hundreds are the real value. Like
maybe twenty years ago, to have a Ken Gravy junior
rookie card autographed would be more, but instead finding a
Ken Graffy junior autograph in a pack with their labels,
(37:41):
that to me is where like the hobby is taken
over that portion of it. So if you are asking
for a Carrier Roads autograph or a Trey Savage, it
may just be for the card, not to resell it,
because the resale value probably wouldn't be as much as
what Tops would.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
Put in a certain pack or another company.
Speaker 9 (37:58):
I you what you're saying, but I think right now
the card business is stupid and it's nuts that like
people would be willing to sell it for twenty dollars.
You know what I'm saying, Like to them, it would
be worth it, And so you're right, but I think
people are that crazy.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
According to Monsey.
Speaker 12 (38:14):
Things are different when you suck.
Speaker 7 (38:16):
Yeah, listen, if you suck, the rules don't apply to you.
What rule am I talking about? If I go a
lot of baseball?
Speaker 5 (38:22):
Am I?
Speaker 9 (38:22):
According to Monty, if I'm in a Dodger game and
the Dodgers are losing and the fans start doing the wave,
I protest it. Why are we celebrating anything we are losing.
If Grace is next to me and she starts, I
wooler down. You are not doing the wave, young lady.
We are losing. I need you to focus the Angels
were on a losing streak and a couple of days
ago they were losing against the Mets, and the fans
(38:44):
started doing the wave, and a lot of Angel fans
were mad at their own fans, like, I get there,
I've been there, but the Angel suck. Like what else
are you going to cheer for? You haven't even been
to the postseason since twenty fourteen. You got to cheer something.
Speaker 7 (38:58):
It's a form of entertainment.
Speaker 9 (39:00):
So like, as much as I'm mad at myself and
Grace when she's doing it in the middle of the
Dodgers losing, I look at a team like the Angels
and I'm like, I'm.
Speaker 7 (39:07):
Not mad that you're doing the wave. The rules don't
apply it because you suck, and I feel bad for you.
And aside from the wave, the other thing you have
is that there's.
Speaker 9 (39:14):
No traffic when you exit, and I'm jealous of that
because the Dodger Stadium traffic is awful when you exit.
So I just feel like the rules don't apply the
same if you're a team like the Angels versus a
team like that.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
I think there are people who go to the games
just to start the wave, right, It's like they're all
that's the only reason why they're there.
Speaker 7 (39:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
No, they're there for a good time the game, and that's.
Speaker 7 (39:34):
What it should be.
Speaker 9 (39:34):
Just because I'm sour and I don't want to have
a good time doesn't mean that's the right way to go.
Speaker 7 (39:39):
You know what I'm saying. I'm not saying I'm right.
I'm just telling you how I feel.
Speaker 9 (39:42):
But I don't feel like that about the Angels or
their fans.
Speaker 7 (39:46):
Yeah, and you can do the you can do the wave.
Just don't do the wave when you're losing. Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
You also need a wave. You also need to have
enough people in the park. Oh to do the wave.
Speaker 4 (39:54):
Absolutely, it's like a practing, like a big old gap
that comes in between and then another little I mean, okay, but.
Speaker 9 (40:02):
It was a full game. I saw video like I
saw it, and I was like, okay, yeah, I get it.
You're in a losing streak and you're losing, and I
get it. But it's entertainment. Entertainment still entertainment.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
And that's according to Manci, Yes, baseball heavy.
Speaker 7 (40:15):
She's right, it was baseball heavy.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
It is.
Speaker 4 (40:18):
We're in full swings, no pun intended, of the MLB season.
That's her favorite right there, So going in, we'll hit
her up at Manci Bolangos on all platforms. He's carry Roads.
I'm Dan Byer. It is Fox Sports Sunday. Game seven.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
Looks like the Pistons just five minutes away of twenty
I don't want to jinx it. I've jinxed other teams before,
carry Roads, but oh no, you did this?
Speaker 3 (40:41):
Why you do that to me?
Speaker 5 (40:42):
Dan? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Right now, it's Kate Cunningham just made it one hundred
and seventy nine. Piston's likely to advance, Who will advance
between the Cavs and Raptors? And how far can the
Sixers go? That's next on Fox. Puck's about to drop
between the Canadian the ends in a lightning. The magic
about to be dropped from the NBA playoffs? Is you
(41:05):
heard Monti Bolagno say. Now, just as I was about
to jinx the Pistons when they went out twenty one,
Orlando goes on a quick seven to nothing run, makes
it a ballgame. But Detroit now kind of pushing back
with that eighteen point cushion.
Speaker 3 (41:18):
Yeah, I think you know.
Speaker 4 (41:19):
Detroit was trying to just salt salt this on the
way and they weren't gonna be able to do that,
so they got a little bit more aggressive after that
run and pushed it back up to like nineteen I think, so, yeah,
they're in a driver's seat, but you know how this goes,
they want to wait a little bit, a little bit.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
In NBA, you can these leads can be a raised
really quickly. It's been a day of information.
Speaker 2 (41:38):
Monzi's been on top of it, Sham's reporting earlier in
the day that Anthony Edwards could be getting back sooner
rather than later, and then we have Chris Haynes tweeting
out the questionable tag on Edwards four Game one. You
heard Monty just say that this is something that we
talked about last week when we felt Minnesota after dealing
(41:58):
with the Anthony Edwards and Devincenzo injuries. We know knew
Devincenzo was gonna be out, but you really needed Anthony
Edwards back just because of the health of that team
as a whole. But ultimately he's their superstar and he's
the guy that can make a difference.
Speaker 3 (42:13):
Can he do it with the shape that he's in
right now? Carrie, Yeah, he's a young guy.
Speaker 4 (42:17):
I think he's he's been pretty durable in his career,
and so for him to be back and be in place,
possibly at the start of this series, because if he
comes back through game three, four or something like that,
and they have no chance.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
So if he's able to come back.
Speaker 4 (42:32):
At the minimum in game two, I'll give them a
puncher's chance in this series. But if he can't get
back before then they're gonna be in trouble. But this
is a series that I'm interested in seeing. Minnesota scrappy Minnesota,
which you've talked about before. They're really well constructed. Now
their mine is de Vincenzo. But if they get Edward's
back and he's eighty five percent in this series, I
(42:55):
still think they would have a chance.
Speaker 3 (42:57):
Isn't that funny?
Speaker 2 (42:58):
Now the Timberwolves end up beating the Nuggets without Anthony Edwards,
without Dante DiVincenzo, without in the game six, clincher Io
des Soon moved yes, and now people are saying, yeah,
we got to rip up the Nuggets. Yeah yeah, Minnesota's
beat him twice in the last three years. And you
(43:20):
look at what happens when one person is missing, Like
you know, people are saying the sky is falling when
Aaron Gordon's missing. I mean Minnesota's you know, lost thirty
eight percent of their team and they can still close
out a game six at home.
Speaker 3 (43:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
It's the one thing Now I think that San Antonio
is the superior team, Yes, I don't know if San
Antonio is the superior playoff team. Yes, And you gave
Minnesota a chance even with Anthony Edwards health in these situations. Previously,
I think I pushed back on it. I will push
back on you saying that if ant isn't there in
(43:55):
games one and two, that it's over for Minnesota, because
I came to the realization that if Anthony Edwards is
back in games three and four, if San Antonio wins
the first two at home, no big deal. Maybe Minnesota
can win the next two at home and then even
things up. And the other thing that I'm curious about,
and I was curious about it today with a team
like the Pistons playing Orlando, what about these teams who
(44:19):
haven't closed out They haven't been there, they haven't.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
Closed out squads.
Speaker 2 (44:24):
The Timberwolves have done that before, yes, and San Antonio hasn't.
And that is another thing that I do think is
in favor of Minnesota. Is San Antonio is gonna have
to They're going to just have to prove that they
can close out a team like Minnesota, and I think
that that's going to be difficult, and that would also
(44:45):
mean Anthony Edwards availability. The more the series goes on
gives Minnesota more of a chance to win that series.
Speaker 3 (44:53):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 4 (44:53):
Like and the rule of thumb of actually having home
court advantage, you know, the roteam wants to come in.
Speaker 3 (45:00):
And still one, right.
Speaker 4 (45:02):
I think it's essential in this series because if San
Antonio wins these first two games and they're confident going
back to Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (45:09):
That's why I don't think they'll have a chance.
Speaker 4 (45:11):
I really think in this particular series, Minnesota needs to
win one of these ones in San Antonio. And I
would even going to record and saying, like I said,
if they don't win one of these two games, this
series will be over in five. Like That's how strongly
I feel about San Antonio. And if they're able to
play loose and play free, they have the better team.
(45:32):
They have a multitude of guards that can break you
down and go get go, get a bucket. And so
people want to talk about winby a lot when it's
when they talk about san Antonio, he's been great, But
that team they have Castle, who is a beast and
he's not afraid of anything. He can break your he
can break your defensive defense down and score. And also
in these playoffs he's been shooting the three really well,
(45:53):
which teams have been going in giving him that shot
and if he's making that shot, you have no chance.
Then you have the got it nobody's been talking about
with them in this team in particular, and that's the
Aaron Fox.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
He has playoff he has playoff experience.
Speaker 4 (46:07):
And if you've seen in these games with san Antonio,
when it got tough in Portland.
Speaker 3 (46:11):
Who do they go to it?
Speaker 4 (46:12):
It was a pick and roll with the Aaron Fox,
not not Castle, not Dylan Harper, not any of these
new guys. It's like the guy that's been in the
playoffs and have performed in the playoffs. Well, he's been
the guy that stepped up. So when you talk about
this team, if they get a lead and go up
two in this series, it'll be over pretty quickly. But
the Aaron Fox didn't win a playoff series, and not
until he got with this team.
Speaker 3 (46:33):
Yeah, Well, I.
Speaker 2 (46:35):
Think and I hate when people do this, so I
hate that I'm doing this to you. I just think
Minnesota has been there before.
Speaker 4 (46:44):
Yeah, and I think that that's going to be San
Antonio's biggest struggle. You think they're going to lose this
or you think it's going to be like a seven games?
Speaker 3 (46:54):
What do you think? What are you feeling?
Speaker 2 (46:55):
Yeah, and I think that it's I think it will
go six or seven. I changed my opinion from what
I told you a week ago. We knew that Edwards
had the runner's knee. The injury that occurred in the
Nugget series was the other knee. Yeah, so now he's
got two bad knees. So I understand that that's not ideal.
But man, did Minnesota show me something? Yea in Game six?
(47:18):
And if you know, if you get Anthony Edwards back,
if you get out of to soon move back and
those guys are able to play, I mean, heck, Terrence
Shannon is showing up like they've got They've got guys
outside of the guys that I liked, Yes for sure,
Right like we seem to thee we know who Anthony
Edwards is. Jade McDaniels because of what he said and
(47:39):
then what he what he did in Game six as well,
got a lot of the headlines. But Io's forty two
or forty three point game and then Shannon coming in
and we weren't Terren. Shannon missed game like, didn't play
in games in the playoff series and now comes in.
So I just, yeah, the way Minnesota's built, I just
really liked that team. So I'm talking myself off of
San Antonio, Okay, I'm more just because of how Minnesota
(48:04):
is built, and I just think of being there that
there are lessons that closing out an overmatched Portland team.
I like how san Antonio bounced back from that, but
to me, they have to show a little bit more.
Speaker 4 (48:15):
And then you know, like because I agree with you,
I like Minnesota as well.
Speaker 3 (48:18):
I like it.
Speaker 4 (48:19):
I liked them with Anthony Edwards in this series. Like
I said, it would be really close if he's there.
But if he isn't, this isn't This isn't Denver. N
Antonio is a different Now. Yeah, they played they played defense,
and you're not taking the ball straight down the middle
to lay the ball up like they did against Denver
against Jokic.
Speaker 3 (48:36):
Wemby's knocking that out of there.
Speaker 4 (48:38):
So the way that those guys got their buckets and
played and closed out against Denver, it won't work againstan Antonio.
So that's what I'm worried about when I talk about
that series. I feel I feel like that's the case.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Like I think that Laker fans are so excited that
they closed out the Rockets and they were the better team.
I expected them to win Game six, and there's the
possibility of Luca coming back.
Speaker 3 (48:58):
But night you face the thunder, not with a.
Speaker 4 (49:02):
Hamper Luca that that probably wouldn't sit well. I don't
think that's adding too much to the to the deal.
Speaker 2 (49:08):
You you are falling in love with the Philadelphia seventy
six ers te Yeah.
Speaker 4 (49:13):
But you know, like I think like everybody, like in
the beginning of the year, when you saw the acquisitions
and you saw what they had on paper, I think
people were like, oh, if they stay because I was
one of them, if they stay healthy, they'll be a problem.
Speaker 3 (49:24):
But they're never They're never healthy in the playoff time.
Speaker 4 (49:28):
Right now it's playoff times, and they are the most
healthy that I've seen them in the last four years.
And so just a healthy inb with that infused talent
of VJ. Edgecombe and obviously Maxie and Playoff P. We
got a little Playoff P siding with them this year
as well. They just have guys around that are more
(49:50):
athletic than you, bigger than you, and so when you
look at them, the excitement from that, that that that
makes me want to see mb kind of have a
full circle mo because he's gotten so much grief and
I've even given him grief. I know we've talked about
him being a leader before and all that stuff, like,
I know that that exists and that exists with me
as well. But now seeing him interview and the way
(50:11):
he talks, he's saying the right things. It seems like
his leadership was on display. He just had an appendectomy
surgery and he rushed back to come back and play
in his playoffs for his team, and like to see
the camaradi around those camaraderie with those guys, it has
it's bruined as a feel good story.
Speaker 3 (50:29):
So yes, it is. I was waiting for it, Ladies
and gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (50:34):
The Philadelphia seventy six Ers now America's team, the underdog
that could, the Philadelphia seventy six Ers.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
I think they can beat the Knicks.
Speaker 2 (50:48):
Yes, and then you go to the Eastern Conference Finals,
and whether it's the Pistons, whether it's the Cavs or Raptors. Yes,
If they have a series where they go through the
Celtics and go through the Knicks, I think a lot
of people will think that they can go to the
NBA Finals. I think that that's probably what Philadelphia is
talking about right now. You know, we got past our bugaboo,
(51:10):
but something happened last night in Game seven. Joel Embiid
got hurt again. And this is the point. This is
where we come to reality. This is where we center ourselves.
We're next to a yoga studio. I would assume that's
where we center ourselves. These NBA playoffs last two months.
We are three weeks We're not even three weeks in.
(51:32):
We're two weeks in. Is that it? There's two weeks
from today that they started. We're two weeks in. There's
six more weeks to go of this. If Philadelphia wants
to reach the top, there is no way Joel Embiid
stays healthy for six more weeks.
Speaker 3 (51:49):
And I am just.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
Saying evidence on on on my part, it's.
Speaker 3 (51:56):
Just not going to happen.
Speaker 2 (51:57):
Even in the highest moments, Tyre Maxie falls backwards into
his knee.
Speaker 3 (52:03):
He has to leave.
Speaker 2 (52:03):
In the second half, he was getting stretched out on
the side. He was magnificent when he was available in
the series, which again to your point about the appendectomy.
He missed the beginning of the series. He didn't show
up into return. So as much as I want to
buy in and by all the stock of the Philadelphia
seventy six ers, history tells me that something is going
(52:26):
to happen and there's going to be a point where
he isn't available and for a team. And I know
what you could say is well, Andre Drummed will play
more if Embiid can't play. What has made this team
so special in the series is that all four of
their pieces, Sorry Kelly u Bray Junior, but it's Maxie,
it's Edgecomb, it's Paul George, and it's Joel Embiid. That
(52:46):
they have come together to form this sort of thing.
That core four is not going to stay together for.
Speaker 3 (52:52):
The next six weeks.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
It's just history just tells us that if anything, maybe
the biggest takeaway is that guy's not playing half a season.
Speaker 3 (53:01):
Are good for you? In the playoffs, which would be the.
Speaker 2 (53:03):
Message that the NBA doesn't want you to hear because
the seventy six ers now and heck, even the local
LA station that we've got on our TV is talking
about Joel Embiid right now. Right Embiid gets revenge in Boston,
thirty four points, twelve rebound, six assists. It is the story.
It's the story of the NBA playoffs. But it's just
(53:23):
there's too much history, there's too much evidence to tell
me that the Sixers are going to be able to
go on a run. Something is going to happen healthwise,
and it is going to end. And that's that's a
shame because you just put them in the Cinderella role
and I just don't think that I'm not going to
be fooled. I'm not going to be fooled. And it's
crazy to even think that they could be Cinderella's right,
(53:46):
but they are. There is something about them that makes
you want to cheer for them.
Speaker 4 (53:50):
Yeah, I think, you know, I think the over the overarching,
overarching angle with it would be when you put them
in the Cinderella category is just people want want to
see them.
Speaker 3 (54:00):
Be Boston, Boston.
Speaker 4 (54:01):
So I think those people and those fans are on
board with it as well, so pushing that that agenda forward.
But I mean when I look at them just as
the style of play and what they can be, that's
the part where it's like, come on, man, right, just
give us this one run and see I'd rather him
lose and be healthy and fail in that moment than
(54:23):
it'd be an injury, you know what I mean, Like,
just give us.
Speaker 3 (54:26):
I give us that.
Speaker 2 (54:27):
I agree, I just unfortunately can't get passed. Yeah, and
this team hasn't you know the last time that they
were in a conference final, the last time in it
would it be oh the Allen Iverson right, yep, two
thousand and one, two thousand.
Speaker 3 (54:42):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (54:42):
So all of these teams, and I know the process
through that point and then the process wasn't happening. But
they've had success, they've been in the playoffs. We know
that they got coied by game seven and twenty nineteen
of the conference semis, but still couldn't get over that hump.
The ball didn't bounce their way. It's I would like
to bel I don't need to cheer for the Knicks.
I don't. I don't hate the seventy six ers, but
(55:05):
history just tells me. In fact, Carrie, I'm going to
show you a video that I made yesterday. I may
put this up on social media. Foxsports dot Com gave
me a rolling list of all of Joel Embiid's injury
designations mine since twenty seventeen, and I quickly scrolled and
it's just injury after of all the games and the
you know what his diagnosis was from that portion of it.
(55:28):
I hate to say it. I just I won't believe
it until I see it. Man, Man, that hurts my heart.
I know I don't. I think they can beat the Knicks,
but I just don't know how long to run. I
don't know how long the band's going to stay together.
It's maybe a dated reference, but you knew, like David
Lee Roth wasn't gonna be able to stick to Van
Halen and then he disrespected Beck at the MTV Music Awards,
(55:50):
and you know it was off the rails there over
a reference none of you understood. But that's okay, He's
carry out. I'm Dan Beyer. It is Fox Sports Sunday.
Here on Fox Sports Radio. We head to the Philadelphia area.
We'll get Adam Kaplan's thoughts on what the Sixers the
feelings like are in Philly over the seventy six ers.
Plus is Aaron Rodgers going to make up his mind?
(56:11):
He's carry Roads.
Speaker 3 (56:12):
I'm Dan Bayer.
Speaker 2 (56:13):
The Pistons are on to the conference semifinals with a
win against the Magic. It's all next year on Fox
Sports Radio, Carry Rhads Feeling the vibes, So am I
Dan Byer, Mary Mack is here, Bob Benson, Monty Belanios
will have an update coming for us at the bottom
of the hour. Feeling good vibes in Philadelphia with the
(56:33):
Sixers advanced last night over the Celtics, good vibes in Motown.
Pistons topped the Magic today. Now we'll see if Cleveland
carries over those vibes. Let's head to the Philadelphia area.
Our NFL in sider Adam Kaplan joins this year Sports
Grid Inside the Birds podcast and so much more so,
what is the vibe in the city of brotherly love
(56:55):
over these upstart seventy six ers who carry Rhoads is
now coined as America's team, Cinderella's Team. Well, I used
America's team, but he says that now Joellenbiid makes you
want to root for him, right, is that fair enough
to wards in your mouth? So how does Philly feel
about these Sixers?
Speaker 3 (57:14):
Pretty amazing?
Speaker 13 (57:14):
And me, you have the Flyers have their own process
of totally rebuilding and they're they're ahead of schedule.
Speaker 3 (57:20):
But the Sixers, you know, they finally did something.
Speaker 13 (57:22):
They came back from a three to one deficit against
the biggest rival by far. Right, Now, if you just
go in terms of Philadelphia basketball, more than the next door,
they play in this next round more than any other team,
and it's it's pretty cool, and it's pretty cool. I
don't know if you saw their former general matters Sam
Hickey had a real good tweet the other night.
Speaker 3 (57:43):
So he got involved a little bit. But yeah, it's
pretty cool.
Speaker 13 (57:46):
It's certainly unexpected considering, you know, you didn't even know
if MB was going to play coming back from the
Appennix remove, so it's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (57:55):
It's it's stunning.
Speaker 13 (57:56):
And by the way, the Sixers won both games in
New York this season.
Speaker 4 (58:00):
I don't want to ask you one more basketball before
we move on to football, but it's it's with the
it's with the seventy six Ers. And sure they put
out a press release talking about the home fans not
selling the tickets to the Nicks.
Speaker 3 (58:12):
Be brought that up. He brought it up. Yeah, yeah,
what I mean.
Speaker 4 (58:15):
So, I mean, I know Philly and New York is
really close, and I know a lot of those guys
are probably buyers of some of those Sixers tickets. But
do you think their resale stuff or is it just uh,
you know, people getting rid of tickets.
Speaker 3 (58:26):
What do you think is contributing to that? To the
New York take over there.
Speaker 13 (58:30):
It's actually happened the last time Carrie that the Sixers
played the Knicks in the playoffs. There's all sorts of
Nick fans there in Philly here and it was disappointing. Yeah,
it's I think it's a combination of.
Speaker 3 (58:42):
Resale and.
Speaker 13 (58:45):
No one's really bought in totally to the sixtuer for many,
many years because of m Beat's injuries and by the way,
he has a new injury which is a hip contusion
that knocked him out of this that the last couple
of minutes the game was in hand. But it's just
people got fed up with him Be not being available
and you know, he doesn't like the Moniker that he's
not available. When he should be, and you know he's
(59:06):
available for this game, which was a huge game, a
Game seven in Boston. I still can't believe and that
the Sixers, by the way, are not a great home team,
but on the road they play had some huge wins
to win three out of four in Boston.
Speaker 3 (59:19):
It's just hard to believe.
Speaker 2 (59:20):
Well when you see Boston put out in their game
seven started lineup.
Speaker 3 (59:24):
But MB missed three games.
Speaker 2 (59:25):
Yeah, it's more of a shot at Boston, Adam, don't
take it personally, just saying that. I was told Carrie
there were numbers on the court that I thought were fractions.
Speaker 13 (59:34):
Like, by the way, how about that starting lineup that
they put out Ron Harper Junior Falor Shireman, I thought
it was summer league for a second.
Speaker 3 (59:43):
Yeah, it was weird.
Speaker 2 (59:43):
Yeah, but anyway, moving on, moving on to the National
Football League, at him captured joining us here on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (59:50):
By the way, Hinky didn't he tweet? Was it? Trust?
The process? Was it was? That? Was that the tweet?
He said?
Speaker 13 (59:56):
Well did you see? But did you see what he
put up last night? You have to see it. It's
actually fantastic.
Speaker 3 (01:00:01):
Okay, I'm going to it right now. Yeah, yeah, as
long as it's still there.
Speaker 4 (01:00:05):
Yeah, it wasn't taken down. So the former Sixers gm
uh oh he has a pins tweet. Oh, it was
the the Rudy the security guard from Rudy meme cheering
and Rudy got.
Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
Into the game like it's his team from long ago.
It's it's it's just it's just so funny.
Speaker 13 (01:00:25):
It's just at the the Hinky manifesto, which I've read
probably five times over the years, when he resigned with
the greatest like that really just the way that you quit,
I mean, he just did it was fantastic.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
Here's the other thing with that, though, like this regime
that's in place in Philadelphia didn't take over from Hinky,
took over from Colangelo, which was also a bit of
a mess.
Speaker 3 (01:00:46):
Yes, right, oh, well that's that's a fake Twitter.
Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
Yeah, So like there was so like you thought so,
so it's been a while, Like the process.
Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
Didn't work out, Like there's there's no doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
And I always thought that Jason Tatum was going to
be the one, oh Pidelphia, Yeah, because of the trade
that they made. Then last night him not playing may
have been the difference. All right, Moving on, I want
to stay in Pennsylvania, but I want to go to Pittsburgh.
What the heck is taking Aaron Rodgers so long?
Speaker 3 (01:01:13):
Like we were told Dan last year did the same thing,
I know, but we were told this year was going
to be different.
Speaker 10 (01:01:18):
Well no more.
Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
Yeah, this was gonna be will no sooner rather than later.
But it's the one thing that we don't know this
NFL offseason still and we don't have the Seahawks are
going to get a pass rusher, but nobody cares about
Nobody cares about that. It's the fact of what's gonna
happen with Aaron Rodgers, And it still leaves out the possibility,
because of who Rogers is, that he may not play.
(01:01:40):
So what is the latest on the non Steelers quarterback.
Speaker 13 (01:01:44):
Yeah, they've had ongo and communication with him. It's their
strong belief that he will be a Steeler for one year,
which will be this season as he turns forty three
years old. And they did draft true Aller in the
third round at Penn State. Boy, there were two years
at Penn State where you go, wow, this it's going
to be a first round pick. He's got all of it,
and then he just became very inconsistent. Will Howard, who
(01:02:04):
was a six round of last year's also in the roster.
But and then of course Mason Rudolph, who we have
this discussion last year on FSR. Like I said, folks,
trust me, they know that who Mason Rudolph is. He
could start for three, four, maybe five games. If you're
trying to make the playoffs, He's not going to be
your quarterback. So they're operating on that Rogers and their
communication with him. He's going to be a Steeler now, Dan,
(01:02:27):
it's fair to say, like you said, what if he
changed his mind says, you know what, I'm just not
going to do it.
Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
I'm not exposed myself to to get.
Speaker 13 (01:02:34):
Hit again, and I want to retire with my head
on straight, with not taking a lot of contact. So
but overall, by the way they did draft to tackle
Iron Ankor, who will eventually be a starter. He probably
will be the right tackle. The move Fatano to left tackles.
(01:02:55):
As I'm told Roger Jones was their left tackle, but
he's coming off with an injury.
Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
So they have a their offensive line. It's just they
got to get the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:03:02):
I just well, I hope on the record, I hope
Aaron Rodgers stay's home. It was games I was watching
them last last year at them where those late night games.
He looked more tired than I did. So it was like,
I'd rather you stay home, Aaron. But I want to
switch to another quarterback that just came out of college
and he's now with the Baltimore Ravens, and I want
to know about Diego Pabia. Do you think he's going
(01:03:24):
to actually make that roster in Baltimore.
Speaker 13 (01:03:26):
I can't see it. I know his college career is fascinating. Yeah,
Vanderbilderie's really small. There's a reason why he wasn't drafted.
I don't see it. Snoop Pontley's a backup for Lamar
Jackson now practice squad and.
Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
Approves your quarterback room.
Speaker 13 (01:03:43):
Competitive guy, pretty sharp, But no, he's it would take
almost a miracle for him to make it. He just
I remember working on his situation back in Genuary February,
and the early word I got was at too small,
won't get drafted. I was like, Wow, despite his success,
the league's folk, they just don't think he's a pro.
Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
Quarter How tall is he? How tall is he? Adam
under under five to eleven.
Speaker 4 (01:04:05):
He looked even shorter than that. I saw a picture
of the camp and he was behind the center.
Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
Well, i'll tell you what when I when I when
I saw literally standing under him.
Speaker 13 (01:04:14):
When I saw Kyler Murray, I remember at the combine,
I was like, holy smokes, as he's short.
Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
Yeah, and he was. He was just over five foot nine. Yeah,
you know. So.
Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
So basically, what Adam is saying is that that Raven's
roster will be sans Diego.
Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
Yeah, I got, wow, I got a dance. Did you
stay up all night for that one?
Speaker 14 (01:04:36):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:04:37):
You think?
Speaker 2 (01:04:37):
Do you think I knew there was going to be
a Diego pobby? That question coming down? We do our
own questions here on Fox Sports. Right now Cleveland Brown's
a little bit of a hubbub of maybe Deshaun Watson
having the lead. Mary Kay Cabot's credentials got put into question,
unfortunately by Shiloh Sanders. So a typical off season in Cleveland. Yeah,
(01:04:59):
things are going well, but let's talk about the Brons.
Is it Deshaun Watson's job to lose? How are things
working out so far under Todd mnkin as All.
Speaker 3 (01:05:08):
Right, I'll give you forty six million dollars. Wyatt's his
job to lose. Yeah, so you've you've.
Speaker 13 (01:05:13):
Got Andrew Berry, the GM who made maybe the worst
transaction NFL history, right, worst trade. It's hard to argue
against it, and we know there's been a lot of
bad trades. But Watson doesn't play competent football since twenty twenty.
You talk about six six years and look the off
the field stuff, the torn achilles even when healthy, eating
(01:05:34):
play well because he missed too much football.
Speaker 3 (01:05:36):
So the way that they'd love it to be is
that he would win the job.
Speaker 13 (01:05:41):
And it's the final year of his deal, right, they'd
like to see him play competent football, gets something out
of it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
Now, let's see what your door said.
Speaker 13 (01:05:49):
This is what I would tell and Taylor Green, by
the way, is a very interesting quarterback of six round
of Arkansas who's a developmental quarterback of Jilly Gabriel still
there the third round last year. We got to see
what Watson looks like once we get to training camp. Now,
what Todd Mankin said is he would like to name
the starter at the end of their mandatory camp.
Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
That's very early.
Speaker 13 (01:06:09):
Now, I could tell you if from doing reporting on
the Browns building, back in twenty sixteen, I put out
there that despite Josh McCown clearly winning the job, according
to a team source then that they were going to
go with RG three and it's I was told then
that they wanted an evaluation on RG three because he's
much younger.
Speaker 3 (01:06:30):
They thought he had a future, and like, why would
they go to with a.
Speaker 13 (01:06:34):
Journeyman in McCown while they weren't really trying to win,
they were trying to evaluate. We could argue whether there
was a smart move or not, but RG three really
just didn't play well. And you know, they just certain
things go on in that building, which I mean the
owner gets involved the Johnny Manziel situation. Sometimes I scratch
my head, but I'm gonna trust Todd Monkin, the best
(01:06:55):
quarterback will win this job.
Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
I just want to say, like, I think, if I
had to pick my process, I would want Shador to
start in Watson to back up why Dan. The reason
being is I just think that you need to give
Shador every possible opportunity to show and do and I
think that the turn off in a way to have
shoudor like, I think you're risking losing Shador to Adam's
(01:07:21):
point about the salary. There's forty six million dollars, but
it doesn't matter who it's being paid due. Like they're
in on forty six million dollars and so it doesn't
matter if it's Deshaun or if it's if it's Shadoor.
I do think you risk losing Shadeur's mind and being
focused if you make him the backup. I think he
should be the starter, and then Watson if he wants
to come in and save the day, that may be
(01:07:42):
his best role since his pr and his reputation is
so poor that it could only do anything butt raise
it up. But that would be the way that I would.
Speaker 3 (01:07:50):
Well, let's put it this way.
Speaker 13 (01:07:51):
If Watson's the starter or any place poorly, they'll just
go to Shador that that'll in it. It's not like
they're going to go back to Watson. That's how they'll
get their valuation. And look, this is a rebuild, just
to be clear here. They had a real problem receiver
last season. They really addressed it. They addressed a lot
of needs.
Speaker 5 (01:08:09):
This year.
Speaker 13 (01:08:10):
They're expecting to be better, and I'm sure they'll be better,
but the quarterback position has been an absolute disaster for decades,
they haven't got it right, and the Watson, the Watson
trade Dan severely set them back.
Speaker 4 (01:08:24):
I'm gonna I'm gonna switch to the NFCS, and I
want to talk about the Cowboys. I think that's going
to be an interesting division. I literally think that the
Cowboys can win that division, and so I think a
lot of people are kind of saying that as well.
Speaker 3 (01:08:37):
But how did the draft go for the Cowboys?
Speaker 4 (01:08:40):
I know they addressed the defense, I know they bought
the downs, But talk about the Cowboys and their draft
and how they're looking going into the season.
Speaker 13 (01:08:46):
Yeah, a couple of things. So they're going to bring
back They're one a few teams to do this. They'll
bring back all eleven starters on offense.
Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
That's huge.
Speaker 13 (01:08:52):
They resigned Gavonte Williams, who really revived his career. Pickens
is on the team for now. We'll see what happens
because they already said they're not going to negotiate with him,
which is crazy because you know how they usually drag
everything out. They're not even going to drag it out.
She's not going negotiate it with him. Off the franchise tag.
So they're bringing everybody back even their top backup receivers
are there. Defensively there it's been nearly three years since
(01:09:15):
they've been competitive on defense. But they addressed their past
rush with Rashaun Gary trade with Malchi Lawrence, who I
know some teams had a second round great on him.
He's got a lot of upside. Not the most consistent player,
needs more work. They made the trade just this past
week for d winners coming over from the forty nine ers,
where they're really bad at linebacker. They brought in Jalen Thompson,
(01:09:37):
Caleb Downs, Kerrey. I was kind of surprised at Giantstin
drafted one pick ahead of them because there was a
need for the future and they didn't do that. And
the thing guys that the Cowboys have not done a
good job of is building their defense was with good
character players. But Kenny Clark super high character. Rashaun Gary
is fine, good football player, Caleb Downs super high character,
(01:10:00):
one on top five defensive players for the draft, are
top players for this draft overall. Devin Moore is a
really talented corner in the fourth round out of Florida. Yeah,
I mean it's fair to bring up that they're going
to be better but they've got a first time defensive
coordinator here in Christian Parker, comes over from the Eagles.
They're gonna run the Vic Fangio scheme. They're gonna go
to thirty four, which they haven't run in a while.
(01:10:21):
This is a big change, guys. This is a big
change for them on a rebuilt defense. A lot of
new starters, probably least five new starters, might be as
many seven, So things are going to change on that defense.
Speaker 3 (01:10:31):
Will they have Quenton planned the nose that the zero technique?
Speaker 13 (01:10:35):
Yeah, I mean it's it's you're gonna have to play
him shaded because it's exactly can't have them straight up.
That's a concern. Yeah, I mean that's Kenny Clark probably
will wind up doing it. Yeah, It's it's quite a
change here, guys. They're they're changing to completely change this defense.
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
A lot's going to.
Speaker 13 (01:10:51):
Change and by the way, in a most improved division,
Washington's gonna improve. They had a great offseason. Yep, you know,
bad they were with injury last year. They had the
oldest team and then I social Football League. I love
what the Giants have done new coaching. Yeah, this division
should be way more competitive than it had been in
recent years.
Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
He's Adam Kaplan, our NFL insider. Find him on ex
at Kaplin NFL. We appreciate it, Adam.
Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
Great week. Thanks Adam.

Listen.
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):

but I'm not going to make an excuse use.
Speaker 3 (01:12:12):

The first time you did Yes, Yes, you off.
Speaker 7 (01:12:20):

Speaker 13 (01:12:22):
Guys.
Speaker 9 (01:12:23):
The Magic literally ran out after the first quarter for
Orlando Pistons, completing the comeback being down three to one
in the series. They're advancing to the semi finals. They
defeated the Magic in Game seven one, sixteen to ninety four.
Kate Cunningham thirty two points and twelve assists to Bias
Harris thirty points.
Speaker 7 (01:12:42):
That was the world difference maker for Detroit.
Speaker 9 (01:12:44):
Paula Ben Carrol thirty eight points and I rebound six
assists in the loss. Starting about an hour will be
Game seven between the Raptors and the Cavaliers from Cleveland.
Speaker 7 (01:12:54):
There is other NBA news.
Speaker 9 (01:12:55):
Minnesota timber Wolves announced that Anthony Edwards is listed as
questionable for Game one against the Spurs. Apparently he's really
trying to get out there.
Speaker 7 (01:13:03):
He has been cleared for.
Speaker 9 (01:13:04):
On court basketball activities. We'll see what happens when it
comes to Game seven in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The
Canadians and the Lightning are scoreless with two minutes to
go in the first period. Out of the NASCAR Cup Series.
Down to the final lap here and it looks like
Chase Elliott is in the lead. If you want to
catch the end, you can catch it on FS one.
But Chase Elliott in the lead. Final lap at the
(01:13:26):
Nascart Cup Series out of the Texas Motor Speedway.
Speaker 7 (01:13:29):
In baseball, there are three games going on right now.
Speaker 9 (01:13:31):
The Padres of just taking the lead from the White
Sox Xander Bogarts with an RBI single is four to
three in San Diego. Top of the ninth inning, Mets
over the Angels in La five to one. Bottom of
the ninth inning. Angels have a man on first base,
have all their outs to go. Top of the ninth
inning in Seattle, where the Mariners are losing to the Royals.
Speaker 7 (01:13:49):
For to one.
Speaker 9 (01:13:50):
Dodgers snapped their four game losing streak. They came out
on top against the Cardinals four to one. Yankees defeated
the Orioles eleven three, Aaron Judge with his thirteenth home
run of the season.
Speaker 7 (01:14:00):
The Twins stop the Blue Jays Ford three. Pirates beat
the Reds one zero and completed a three games sweep.
Nationals took down the Brewers three to two.
Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
Back to you guys, thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
Monte founder on x and social media platforms at Monty Bolangos.
Speaker 3 (01:14:12):
He is carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. Carry on next
here on FSR, Fox Sports Sunday, He's carry Road. I'm
Dan Byer.
Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
Moncey Bolanos is here, Mary mack bo Benson, Shaye Mogan.
Guard's going to join us at the top of the hour,
popping in Fox Sports a radio producer. She's gonna work
a little later tonight. But we reveal what my golf
score was, and we playback the questions that you guys
wanted to know, the answers you wanted to know from
(01:14:42):
Maya Stark, US Women's Open champion, who I got a
chance to catch up with on Monday. If you notice,
maybe Carrie's been a little off. He didn't get much
sleep last night. News flash, carry Monci you ready for
this one? Carrie stayed up till a little past ten.
Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
Well true story.
Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
If I can paraphrase monce He's like earlier this week,
she goes, I didn't get to bed till four, and
Carrie's like, yeah, Carrie's carry He's like half his eyes
are half home and he's like, man, I'm feeling it today.
Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
Eric gets to bed till ten and then he's like
maybe it was even a little after ten. Whoa oh
man sleep? Huh you guys sleep? Oh, Mary mac the
only to be young again.
Speaker 7 (01:15:29):
I have to sleep a little bit too.
Speaker 3 (01:15:31):
If I don't get If I don't get those eight hours,
don't see me.
Speaker 7 (01:15:35):
Eight hours whatever time eleven o'clock, Like.
Speaker 4 (01:15:39):
No, because I gotta get up early and I wake
up like five point thirty six, like automatically.
Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
So Bo Benson, our producer, is in a spot where
he's got a young daughter.
Speaker 14 (01:15:48):
He doesn't sleep.
Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
No, No, now he does because she probably sleeps. But
as they're expecting a new baby, he's going to go
back to being up all night long. So get the
sleep while you canbo it is it is a you
know this, you've been through this rodeo before.
Speaker 12 (01:16:04):
Yeah, I'm not excited to go back to the two
hours of sleep, then three hours awake until your wife
is awake, and then you get maybe two hours of
sleep and doing adding all that in with a four
year old.
Speaker 3 (01:16:15):
On top of those are called the good old days. Yeah,
those are the good old days.
Speaker 4 (01:16:19):
They are, you know crazy. I mean, my my engineer Shaw,
he just had a newborn. He has a four year
old as well, and I just see him in some
of the sessions. I'm like, dude, you need to go
to sleep, you need some rest. You're like, it's five thirty.
I might as well as well.
Speaker 3 (01:16:33):
Let's just go. Let's call it a night. Exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
There are times where I don't want to text Carry
and the sun is still up because I think he
may be in bed. All right, let's carry on. We
give Carry Roads five topics. He tells us if he's
on board or off board with these things. Topic number one,
the San Antonio Spurs will have a cake walk with
a Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western semis.
Speaker 4 (01:16:55):
I am off of that one. Yeah, I mean we
talked about it. Obviously, there were not shading it because
Anthony Edwards isn't there. But the way this Minnesota team competes,
they're going to compete. Like I said earlier, they don't
win one of these two games, though, it can be
but I'm gonna say I'm gonna error on the side
of they play hard and they're gonna get a win,
(01:17:15):
so it won't be a cakewalk.
Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
Sticking with the NBA on or off this one, Carrie Rhoades,
the NBA champion will come from the Western Conference.
Speaker 3 (01:17:25):
Whoa I am? I am off that one as well. Yeah,
that's right, I said it. I said it. I said it, Dan.
Speaker 4 (01:17:35):
I think, yes, san Antonio and ok See are the
two I guess probably prohibited favorites. But I'm gonna stick
with my Cinderella story that I have going right now.
I think that Philadelphia or or the Knicks could present
a challenge to the team coming out of the West.
Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
So yeah, I thought it was going to be a
cake on that one. That was definitely going to be
I know you did. All right, let's jump over to
the other series in the West. Number three, The Lakers
don't have a shot against Okac. You on board with
that one? No chance for the Lakers.
Speaker 4 (01:18:11):
I'm on board with that one. I'm on board with
that one. Yeah, I mean, okay, see, it's just a
different animal. I know they're missing. Is Jalen Williams back?
Is he going to be back for this series?
Speaker 3 (01:18:22):
This segment is not for questions is not for questions.
Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
I yes, I'm on board with that one. Then Dan,
there you go after the segment. Yeah, well we can
answer that.
Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
By the way, do we know what Lebron was saying
speaking of questions in that Viraldia media clip where he's like,
you can't say that. Everybody else on your team can
say that, but you can't say that. Do we know
what was said? Do we know both?
Speaker 12 (01:18:46):
I was talking to Alpern Sangoon, you say his name.
I think Sengoon was probably accusing him of flopping, and
Lebron was telling him, of all the players and all
the worlds, you are the last person that can talk
about people.
Speaker 3 (01:18:57):
Interesting. Okay, that would make sense. I just don't.
Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
I was wondering what it was and nobody's brought context
to it, all right. Number four, Deshaun Watson should start
week one for Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (01:19:07):
I'm on board with Deshaun Watson start in week one.
Speaker 15 (01:19:10):
There.
Speaker 4 (01:19:11):
I love redemption arcs. I love redemption stories. I know
his has been clouded with a lot of stuff that
he's brought on himself, but also some injuries and stuff
like that as well. So I want to see just
one more glimpse of the Deshaun Watson we thought we
were gonna see for a long time.
Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
Any Alright, finally, Diego Pavia, you on border off board,
will start an NFL game in his career.
Speaker 4 (01:19:34):
I'm on board with that one because we didn't say
we didn't. We didn't preface it by saying preseason or
or or regular season. So yes, he will start a
preseason game in his career, and even probably one regular season.
He's not gonna he's gonna land somewhere in the league
and he's gonna get a chance to start one game.
Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
All right, there it is carry on and off here
on Fox Sports Radio. I don't think that there's a chance.
But when year we had sixty seven different players take
a snap in the Yeah, in the playoff.
Speaker 4 (01:20:05):
I'm meann got half talent Dan. I mean, obviously a
lot of stuff, a lot of stuff surrounding him.
Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
But yeah, we'll say.
Speaker 2 (01:20:10):
No official return date for Jalen Williams, according to head
coach Mark Dagno, So no official return dates, but we
will find out. We will also find out what I
shot at Riviera and what maya Star has to say
about our questions Till next year.
Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
On Fox Sports Sunday. If it's in the game, it's
in the game now. That was for EA Sports.
Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
But we're talking about a lot of games because we
have easy as one, two, three, four coming up. Yes,
in about twenty five minutes or so. We have one
Game seven in the books. We got another one coming up.
We got a Game seven going on right now on
the ice between the Lightning and Canadians. So a lot happening.
Plus let around a golf on Monday that I know
(01:20:55):
some people are interested in. For those that missed the
episode last week, our producer Shay Mognguard, who sits to
the left of me because Bo Bentson is producing our
show today. Shay was a part of our show, as
was Brianna Muro who is at the news desk, because
Monty Bilanios was not in last Sunday, but Monty's in today,
(01:21:16):
but we don't have Brie. Mary Mack, you're right where
you were. We could go right and so was Carrie,
and we had a topic a conversation because it was
on Monday that US Women's Open Media Day was happening
here in southern California. As the event takes place next
month at Riviera country Club, not too far from where
our studios are right now. I was able to play
(01:21:36):
in the media day event and had a chance to
speak with Maya Stark, the defending US Women's Open champion.
Two things are at play here. Number one, we had
a contest online of what I would shoot, what my
total score would be on two holes combined to par seven.
It would be it was the par three sixth hole
and the par four ten toll. Now I know what
(01:21:58):
Carrie Rhodes thought I.
Speaker 4 (01:21:59):
Was shoot because I saw him write it down, he
teed it, he teated it's a sell must score.
Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
If you follow me on Instagram at buyer Grams, you
may have seen me swing the club on the par
three sixth hole. You didn't see where the ball went
because it was from behind the t box, but maybe
you would have an idea of what kind of score
I would shoot if you could see the ball. So
I didn't think I was giving anything away. You're just
seeing the swing. Well, we are giving away a US
(01:22:24):
Women's Open hat to someone who guessed the correct score,
and we are also going to hear what Maya Stark
thought of your guys questions that you had last week,
something that Shay wanted to know something that Carrie wanted
to know Mary Mack and Brianna when she was here.
So I know Manci and Baw. You guys weren't here,
(01:22:44):
but feel free to chime in at any point. We're
all family here at Fox Sports Radio. So what do
you want to do first? Do you want to do
the questions Carrie? Or do you want to do the score.
Let's do the score first, All right, let's goot the
score out of the way. Yeah, you're happy at Yeah,
Chase shaes with that.
Speaker 4 (01:23:02):
On the par three sixth toll, by the way, you
guessed plus seven, Well you guessed I was gonna Did
you say I was gonna get seven?
Speaker 2 (01:23:12):
So I was gonna be even par? That was your guest.
I thought you wrote down nine. I did I just
one over par on each hole that would have been
two over total?
Speaker 10 (01:23:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:23:20):
I did at first, looked at so I did? I
did nine to seven? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:23:23):
And then you okay, so I thought I was going
to be seven over par? Or did you think I
was just gonna have seven total? Seven total?
Speaker 3 (01:23:29):
Okay? Thank you?
Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
That's actually confidence in it that I would be even par.
Longest drum roll ever. Sorry, Mary Mac.
Speaker 3 (01:23:36):
The score on the par three sixth hole was a four.
Speaker 2 (01:23:41):
I boget it, Okay, I bo get it. And I
even showed you the uh. I showed you the sand,
the shot out of the sand. I took butted from there.
Speaker 3 (01:23:50):
Yeah. And then we went to the par four tenth
hole and I had a putt. Are you ready for this?
Speaker 2 (01:24:00):
A putt for a nine? Okay, this was a bogey putt.
Watch this, Shay, Shay is your mic on? Okay, I
don't hear you, but I'll say this. Carry watch this putt.
You've got to see this putt. This is a putt
for a nine. Okay, so this or excuse me, a
putt for a six. Now, this is a putt for
(01:24:22):
a five.
Speaker 3 (01:24:22):
That's what it is.
Speaker 2 (01:24:23):
It's a putt for a five for a total score
of nine. And the putt missus just on the left edge,
just on the left edge, score of ten.
Speaker 4 (01:24:36):
It was so good, and I was right on what
I thought, and then I took it off, and then
I was more confident in you and you Dan, yeah,
I know you did believe it because I had not.
Speaker 3 (01:24:45):
I had I literally wrote that first got I will
post the putt.
Speaker 2 (01:24:51):
The score of ten is the winner, and we have
a winner in our contest as well. The winner the
only person the guess an actual score of ten.
Speaker 3 (01:25:03):
You ready for this. It's a longtime listener fan of
the show. Can I have a drum roll? Please?
Speaker 2 (01:25:12):
Daniel Romanski, Daniel your mom's on Tinder is his Twitter handle?
Danielle guessed the score of ten were so close the
Nines almost had it. Daniel, you win the US Women's
Open Hat. Sorry for the confusion on the score, but
(01:25:34):
I had a putt for a bogie on the par
four tenth drove it into a bunker. It's an impossible
green to hit from my side. I was long, honestly
flubbed my chip putted it up on the green. So
I had a bogie pot of about twelve feet. I
thought it was in care. I started to walk in
and it just missed. I'll post that video on as well.
(01:25:56):
But the final score was a score of ten overall.
So congrats to Daniel who wins the hat. I'll be
reaching out to you via social media and I'll make
sure that I get that hat into your hands. Now
comes the part that I think you guys actually care about,
and that part is your questions on the show last week,
(01:26:17):
I asked you, guys, what would you want to know
from a US Women's Open champion? Right, And Brianna, who
is sitting at the newsdesk, pointed out that Brianna Stark
had recently kind of gone public with some of the
mental health issues, some of the mental problems that she
had gone on since winning the US Open. And guess
(01:26:38):
what I asked her that question? Here was Maya Stark
answering breeze question that she posed a week ago.
Speaker 3 (01:26:45):
This was from three She.
Speaker 2 (01:26:47):
Heard about your comments last week at Chefron. You've bened
that with some of them inside. Let me made you
kind of go public with some of the mental struggles
that you had following the win. Was there a moment
or a reason why you said, Hey, this is something
I want to talk about public?
Speaker 5 (01:27:02):
Really, I felt like maybe get some comments, you know,
saying like like when major champions keep playing that we
kind of fall off.
Speaker 15 (01:27:16):
Like you've kind of seen.
Speaker 5 (01:27:17):
Other sweets do that too, And I just thought, well,
this is what happens. No one really talks about it.
I haven't seen anyway that, but it was a pretty
instant like down for me after winning and it was
just about like the anxiety getting to me, and you know,
just having such a huge thing.
Speaker 15 (01:27:40):
It's such a huge goal in my life completed. And
then I thought, well what now, And then they kind
of dip that came.
Speaker 5 (01:27:46):
After it, and I just thought, well, this is good
for people to know, both so they can maybe give
me a little grace, but also so that younger players
should know that this stuff happens now.
Speaker 2 (01:27:57):
The audio there was difficult because they put us on
a patio with a wind and a bunch of other
people talking, so but I hope you could kind of
hear that. But she kind of talked about she wasn't
It was like this ultimate moment that she had that
she wanted to go public. She's just say, hey, I'm
dealing with this. I'm just going to talk about it.
Speaker 4 (01:28:14):
Yeah, just being honest in the moment. I think athletes
in general love to hear those stories where people overcome things.
But I think the world, the world also likes to
know that people that they put on these pedestals and
they see as maybe superior than them in certain moments
having athletic ability, are humans just like they are.
Speaker 2 (01:28:34):
I think it's beautiful you are a professor, you were
a professional athlete. Maya Stark's a professional athlete. You have
that in common.
Speaker 3 (01:28:41):
Your question was what it was just when she won
the Open? Like was that coming in? Was that a goal?
Speaker 4 (01:28:47):
And if that was a goal, like outside of that,
what were the other steps after that goal? Did she
have anything that was in play and mind moving forward.
Speaker 3 (01:28:56):
Of her timeline?
Speaker 4 (01:28:57):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:28:57):
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:28:58):
This is what we posted Maya Stark via Carry Rhodes.
Speaker 2 (01:29:01):
When you turned for all, it was winning a major,
winning a US Open part of your timeline? Did you
have a timeline set out on what you wanted to
accomplish when you ended up turning professional and was winning
a US Open within about five or six years of
that part of that plan?
Speaker 5 (01:29:17):
And I obviously dreamed about it, but it's just, you know,
I just kind of thought, did the first step and
the perkers just to get somewhere to play, right, So
that was my number one part, And then I didn't
think too much about it.
Speaker 15 (01:29:31):
You know, I was very happy playing on the LPGA Tour,
and then I got my LPGA.
Speaker 5 (01:29:36):
Tour card and that's when I started thinking more about
the majors and stuff.
Speaker 15 (01:29:40):
So I didn't set it as a goal pretty early
in my career.
Speaker 5 (01:29:44):
And then I thought, no, this this is too quick,
So I didn't really want to think about the results
or like what championships to win. But I've always loved
you as open so I've been playing and I got
to play them twice as an amateur live.
Speaker 15 (01:30:00):
I just nothing that he was always one that I
wanted to win the most, So it was really.
Speaker 14 (01:30:06):
Cool to get to do it.
Speaker 3 (01:30:07):
So was that a good enough answer? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:30:09):
Yeah, I think the goal like you set big goals
right as in like all of us, like we set goals.
So when you achieved that goal, like, did you reach
it quick? Did it accede to expectations? Like I want
to know that part of the story. And then after that,
like where do you go from there? Is there other
things that you have in place?
Speaker 15 (01:30:26):
Now?
Speaker 3 (01:30:26):
Shay Mary mac hanging out as well, Mary Mack, do
you remember what your question was?
Speaker 7 (01:30:34):
I feel like I asked her what was one thing
she like loved about golf and like made.
Speaker 14 (01:30:38):
Her nerd out about it?
Speaker 3 (01:30:39):
Yes, that is exactly what it was. Oh my gosh,
I'm so happy.
Speaker 2 (01:30:43):
All right, all right, half of the half of the
battle is done. Let's hear what Maya Stark had to
answer with Mary Mac.
Speaker 3 (01:30:50):
What do you love about golf the most? What you
nerd out about the sport?
Speaker 15 (01:30:55):
You're never done? You every every hole, So yeah, I
just I just love it. And it's always a battle
with yourself.
Speaker 5 (01:31:06):
You have to be like other sports, you have to
be so good at so many different parts of the game.
And anyone really like mellikor she plays against me Yamashida to.
Speaker 15 (01:31:22):
Us tiny so, and I think it's really cool that
we have a sport where that co exists. I don't
feel like there's many others like that.
Speaker 3 (01:31:30):
All right? Is that does that satisfy you? Golf is
a game you cannot win? Mary Mac? What's that I'm satisfying?
Speaker 2 (01:31:38):
Yeah, it is true. Let's show you play the game.
You play the game of golf like there's it's the
one like when you hit a great shot, it always
keeps you coming back and it seems to happen on
eighteen after. I hate it, miserable four hours, But there's
something euphoric about it, and it's the fact that you
can't perfect.
Speaker 3 (01:31:56):
At her point is you're never done? Yeah, I find
that interesting.
Speaker 14 (01:32:00):
Yeah, I know, it's it's it's one of the games
that you love to hate.
Speaker 4 (01:32:03):
I've always wondered if I made it a hole in
one where I quit, you know, but a hole in
one is also luck.
Speaker 14 (01:32:08):
There's a portion of that. You're playing eighteen right after
I hit, and I'm going back out there.
Speaker 6 (01:32:13):
You kid, uh.
Speaker 4 (01:32:15):
I don't think you know your sport. It's not like
you could perfect sports. No, you know you are getting
better every day. It doesn't matter who you are. It
doesn't matter if you're the last man on the roster
or you. Tom Brady right like you. That's why he's maniacal.
That's why he's great like he does not He's never satisfied. Right,
You got to get better.
Speaker 2 (01:32:34):
And now, in the questions, which I want to lay out,
it was windy, we were outside. You could hear other
people around, So I apologize for that. I also apologize
I was so focused on your guys questions. I forgot
to ask her the question I wanted answer. Really, yes,
I did. I started out with a question I watched
back to the US Open. I wanted to ask her
(01:32:56):
what the five hours are like after you win in
a US Open, because I think there's a lot of responsibilities.
Speaker 3 (01:33:04):
It's not just give me the trophy. I'm out of here. Like,
you have.
Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
Autographs to sign, you have flags to sign that they'll
end up auctioning off. There's obviously media that you do.
She's from Sweden. I'm curious if they're international media.
Speaker 5 (01:33:17):
Like.
Speaker 2 (01:33:17):
That was the one question that I'm like, I have
to ask, and I completely forgot about it because I
was trying to remember a good teammate.
Speaker 3 (01:33:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:33:25):
Well, you know, I had had to take care of
you guys, and the perfect way to end the interview
was to ask Say's question. So we've talked about mental health,
we've talked about career goals, we've talked about the process
of golf, the nerding out, the love of the game,
and Shay, your question was pretty simple, right, Yeah, it.
Speaker 14 (01:33:43):
Was pretty simple. It's a it's a long. Well, I
don't know if it's a long. I don't know when
they first started making black gloves.
Speaker 3 (01:33:48):
To be honest. Oh yeah, that's right.
Speaker 4 (01:33:50):
This is a controversy that I think goes back, you know,
at least in your friend group.
Speaker 14 (01:33:55):
At least in my friend group, when the first friend
pulled up with a black glove.
Speaker 4 (01:33:59):
My god, Shay, Shae is opposed to black golf gloves
versus white black versus white white. Yes, here's what my Stark,
defending US Women's Open champion, had to say about that
last one.
Speaker 2 (01:34:13):
Our producer Shaye wants to know white clover black gloves
is a thing against black gloves, about black.
Speaker 15 (01:34:19):
Gloves white gloves. Unless it's raining, you play white gloves.
You don't play colored gloves unless you're really cool.
Speaker 3 (01:34:27):
And I just don't get there was she is on
your Yes.
Speaker 14 (01:34:32):
I followed her on Instagram after I heard.
Speaker 3 (01:34:35):
Kidding, do you have a buddy that wears a black glove?
Speaker 14 (01:34:39):
Two buddies?
Speaker 15 (01:34:39):
Now?
Speaker 5 (01:34:39):
Really?
Speaker 14 (01:34:40):
Yeah, they think they're different, they think they're cool.
Speaker 3 (01:34:42):
You need to you need to rework your friend group.
Speaker 14 (01:34:44):
Then they're not in my friends anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:34:47):
There are there are a lot of golf gloves that
have that that are almost completely white, but maybe on
the inside of the fingers the fabric is black.
Speaker 14 (01:34:55):
Yeah, a little, that's fine, Like the stitching will be
red or something like that. Like cool, Like my this
glove is black and white, but it's not full black.
That's what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (01:35:04):
I want mine all white. I don't even like the
ones with the all white, and I keep extra ones
in case.
Speaker 4 (01:35:11):
One rips or it's you know, I have about two
or three extras in my bag, but I want mine
all white.
Speaker 3 (01:35:16):
What's the what's the reasoning for this? The black and
the white.
Speaker 14 (01:35:19):
It's so weird to me. It's just the look of it. Really,
it just pops out and it's just like it doesn't
feel like it's a doesn't look like a golf glove.
It just it looks like a workman's glove. And like
it does it's out of.
Speaker 2 (01:35:35):
Place fashion ego, like what like, yeah, it like it
would take extra for somebody to be like I'm gonna
go with the black glove or I'm gonna go with
the green glove.
Speaker 3 (01:35:44):
I'm gonna go with the yellow glove. Like, yeah, that's extra.
Speaker 14 (01:35:47):
You know how I compare it carry you know how
like you could wear a soccer cleat to play football,
but you just don't. Yes, that's what I'm gonna say
that for. You know, it's like you play golf with
a white glove. If I see somebody with a soccer
clean I'm going to destroy him, That's what I'm saying.
Like it's like if I see that on the course,
I'm like, you better be the best player ever and
if you're not, then yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:36:11):
And I'm so up and down that I don't want
any hint of black on the glove, you know, for
anybody to think that I made a decision. To Maya
Stark's points, She's like, yeah, you better be pretty good
if you're going to be able to Yeah, exactly, the
non non white glove. That's funny. So thank you guys
for playing along with that. That was that was That
was fun. I'm glad and thanks to Maya Stark for
(01:36:32):
for being a part of that and having some fun
with us as well.
Speaker 3 (01:36:35):
We'll be broadcasting.
Speaker 4 (01:36:37):
We'll be set up at the US Women's just the
heads up, so I'll be there that for that Sunday
show in a month, and I think Mancy is going
to be doing a show from there on that Saturday
before as well.
Speaker 3 (01:36:47):
So some fun times in the world of golf. Leaving
me in the dust, I get it. We'll figure out there.
Speaker 2 (01:36:57):
The problem is is once you leave the course and
then get out there because of traffic'd be way past
your bed. You'll have to take a nap in the back.
In the back seat, all right. Hit him up at
Carrie twenty five Roads, you can find me at dan
Byer on Fox. Thanks to Carry, Mary Mack and Shae
for playing along. Here on Fox Sports Sunday, Bow's back
in his producers spot Manzi's at the news desk, Mary's
(01:37:17):
Where's she has been? They are your lifelines for easy
as one, two three four. I have a good feeling
about today. Carry Rhoads. I'll just say that. All right,
it's next here on Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 3 (01:37:28):
He's Carry Roads.
Speaker 2 (01:37:29):
I'm dan Byer, got the social out, got the bogie
pot that I missed on ten? Oh you put another green?
Is just a sliver. It's putt for nine. Missed the green,
missed the chip on the green. Yeah, it looked like
it was good. When you watch the video you saw
it looked like it was in. I thought it was
(01:37:50):
about to go and then it just broke right at
the end towards the ocean. And that's what happened.
Speaker 3 (01:37:56):
It lipped out. Is that what would that be? The
rammed out or lipped out? Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
Yes, right off the edge, left edge. Oh well, all right,
Daniel the winner of our US Women's Open cap. We're
gonna have a winner today. As easy as one, two three, four.
The over under is eight and a half. Are you
ready to play carry Rhodes?
Speaker 3 (01:38:18):
Let me steal your paper. Yeah, you got it, that's yours.
You're gonna do that. Read on the other side. We
gotta do that one as well.
Speaker 2 (01:38:24):
Now, Manzi belanios Bo Benson, Mary Mack will be your lifelines.
Speaker 3 (01:38:28):

Already got the great red and you've got calm on
your side. Now the topics today, hockey racing in the NBA.
Oh my goodness, all right, what do you want?
Speaker 5 (01:39:05):
Mon?
Speaker 4 (01:39:06):
I know you may not be down with the derby
the derby, but okay, however, you can maybe help carry
in this quest. Yes, over under eight and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:39:16):
I think I think there's a really good possibility you
get nine or ten today. That's why it's so high.
Are you ready? Let's do it.
Speaker 2 (01:39:25):
Name one of two NHL nicknames still alive in the
Western Conference Stanley Cup playoffs that don't.
Speaker 3 (01:39:33):
End a S.
Speaker 2 (01:39:34):
The nicknames two teams in the Western Conference that are
still alive where their nickname.
Speaker 3 (01:39:40):
Does not end in S. I'll go the Avalanche. Tell
your final answer. That's my final answer. Show me the Avalanche.
I think they were an answer last week. Do you
know the other one? The other one?
Speaker 7 (01:39:55):
It's yes.
Speaker 6 (01:39:56):
It's while he threw me off with the nicknames, I
was like, there's an names that I don't know about
team names?
Speaker 7 (01:40:04):
Yeah, gotcha? Sorry, good job, Carrie.
Speaker 3 (01:40:07):
Thank you, thank you. I would have done. I would
have done all NHL. But the Lightning are playing right now.
Speaker 4 (01:40:12):
That's why I had to make it very specific.
Speaker 3 (01:40:17):
I'm only going to trick you so many times with
the game that's going on right now. All right.
Speaker 2 (01:40:21):
At one point, for Carrier Oads, here's our horse racing question.
I don't even think Carry is going to need a
lifeline for this. Somebody knows this name two of three
states where the Triple Crown is run. Oh, that would
be New York and that would be Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (01:40:37):
Your final answer finally found. Announce a fine answer.
Speaker 2 (01:40:39):
Show me Kentucky Kentucky Derby, obviously, show me New York
Belmont Stake.
Speaker 3 (01:40:46):
Do you know the one sandwiched in between the middle? Anybody? Anybody?
And it in Pittsburgh. Uh O, Breakness is in Maryland?
All right? Car three for three horse racing questions. Right
at least he put me in my area.
Speaker 2 (01:41:06):
I tell my horse racing story quickly, so I I
know Manzi doesn't like it. I am not in the ponies,
but I do like to watch it every year when
I can, and it's fun and I so want my
son to be in this, to be in the sports.
And so the derby was on yesterday and we were
sitting around and were just we didn't even pick names,
(01:41:26):
you just picked numbers. And I picked sixteen because my
birthday's on the sixteenth, and my son picked four. And
in the middle of the race, he was yelling and
he was like, come on four, and I almost started
a cry, like I did, like I was like two
(01:41:47):
minutes ago. He had no idea what the Kentucky Derby was,
but I wanted him to win so bad, and I
told my wife my wife this lest on at dinner.
I just was like, I go, I got choked up
when I heard him cheer his or song. And for
a while four was in the top five. O four
finished second to last, only to my horse who finished
(01:42:08):
dead DFL for mine. So that was actually a saving
grace that my son's of our picks he won. Nobody
picked the winner, but at least he didn't finish last.
Look at you, Dan, Yeah, I've been a good father. Yes, yes,
Now if he's placing bets, I'm gonna be in trouble.
Name three of four carry NBA teams with the longest
(01:42:30):
current playoff droughts three of four? Do you want to
use the lifeline I want to talk about with bow
Mary mac monzie.
Speaker 3 (01:42:37):
I'm going to include my include my crew. What you
got Manzi? Three of four the longest playoff droughts Wizards.
Speaker 7 (01:42:47):
It was the last time the Wizards made playoffs.
Speaker 4 (01:42:50):
It would be the Bradley Deal John Wall teams right
or did they make it after that?
Speaker 7 (01:42:54):
Any I don't think they did after that? And that's
been a minute. It feels like I don't think as
long as you as long as I think.
Speaker 3 (01:43:02):
But keep going. Let's write them down though.
Speaker 7 (01:43:05):
Does making the play in count no?
Speaker 3 (01:43:08):
No, good question, it does not.
Speaker 7 (01:43:09):
Okay, okay, okay, can I can I look up? Teams?
Are just like blanking out on what teams exist besides
the clear.
Speaker 3 (01:43:17):
No, that's what gives me all the time.
Speaker 7 (01:43:20):
Okay, No, no, okay.
Speaker 3 (01:43:24):
I was going to say the Jazz.
Speaker 7 (01:43:29):
Maybe on the Wizards, Yes, I mean no, no, no,
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:43:33):
No real we need three or four yeah, playoff routs
in the NBA.
Speaker 4 (01:43:37):
All right, the Hornets got to be up there, right,
but they they made the play in, not the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:43:45):
So I'm taking like.
Speaker 7 (01:43:46):
It's probably could be up there, can be in the mix,
They could be in there, They could be in there.
Speaker 3 (01:43:53):
The Jazz. I think that's a really good one, Mary Jazz,
I think so. I think so, I think so.
Speaker 7 (01:43:57):
Okay, I'm just.
Speaker 4 (01:44:00):
Walking through it.
Speaker 13 (01:44:01):
I'm with you.
Speaker 4 (01:44:03):
The Pelicans made it because they had Brendan Ingram and
and those guys for a while. When they made I know,
they made the playoffs, not too far. The Hornets is
up there for sure, I would say, Hornet.
Speaker 12 (01:44:17):
Can I yell out of team?
Speaker 3 (01:44:18):
Of course?
Speaker 12 (01:44:19):
How about the Brooklyn Nets?
Speaker 3 (01:44:21):
No, they made it with the KD the KD.
Speaker 12 (01:44:24):
Yeah, but so many teams make the playoffs, like the
Jazz just had Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. That wasn't
just the drought can't be that long.
Speaker 3 (01:44:33):
We're not talking like that's right, that's right.
Speaker 12 (01:44:36):
I would think the nets have not been good sex
KD and that was that was how many years ago?
Speaker 7 (01:44:41):
I already know that was COVID six years ago.
Speaker 12 (01:44:45):
I don't know, that's six.
Speaker 3 (01:44:48):
That's six. That is like six years right, Yeah, I'm
gonna throw another one.
Speaker 4 (01:44:56):
No, they were in it, but that's around the same
time of they will playing there they've been, they've been
playing teams.
Speaker 7 (01:45:04):
Okay, maybe that's what I'm thinking of.
Speaker 3 (01:45:06):
That's why that's all. That's difficult. What three do you want?
Speaker 7 (01:45:10):
Don't rush us? Dam good?
Speaker 3 (01:45:14):
You don't participating.
Speaker 14 (01:45:15):
What's the first week in the long time?
Speaker 3 (01:45:17):
So look all these ones we named it like really close.
Speaker 12 (01:45:21):
Yeah, m hmm.
Speaker 3 (01:45:24):
I'm throwing to y'all. Yep, I'm gonna I'm gonna gohead
Mary's Jazz for one day. Jazz, go Jazz. Okay, I'm
gonna go Monzi's Wizards. You said WI Wizards.
Speaker 7 (01:45:33):
I think the Wizards.
Speaker 3 (01:45:36):
Hornets I'm I'm gonna say, Hornets.
Speaker 7 (01:45:40):
I think that's a good one.
Speaker 3 (01:45:41):
I like I said three, then yes, three? Those are
you three?
Speaker 7 (01:45:44):
He's stuck on the bat.
Speaker 3 (01:45:46):
Because that's true. Like it's twenty twenty, so it's around
the same.
Speaker 6 (01:45:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:45:50):
All right, oh Wizards, all right, you.
Speaker 7 (01:45:56):
Can take the Wizards. You want to put them next?
Speaker 3 (01:45:58):
What what were you? Hornets?
Speaker 4 (01:46:00):
Sorry, hornets? I said, Hornets, Hornets? I said, I just
need your final three because we've got that's got. Okay, Wizards,
Jazz and Hornets.
Speaker 3 (01:46:07):
Lock it in. I'm gonna be mac if both gonna
be riped. Yes, lock it in.
Speaker 4 (01:46:10):
Okay, show me the Washington Wizards five five seasons, it's
only five too.
Speaker 2 (01:46:19):
Show me the Utah Jazz. I know they're seasons they've
missed out. And to keep the perfect game alive, show
me the Charlotte Hornets.
Speaker 3 (01:46:30):
Okay, here we go.
Speaker 4 (01:46:31):
All right, Charlotte has missed the playoffs ten. I knew
that one for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:46:37):
The last time I made an appearance was in twenty sixteen,
the Wizards in the twenty twenty one first round, the
Jazz in the twenty twenty two first round, only to
be tied.
Speaker 3 (01:46:47):
With the Chicago Bulls, Bulls they marry.
Speaker 2 (01:46:50):
Said in twenty twenty two that the marry three seasons,
but not of the top four droughts in the NBA.
Speaker 3 (01:46:57):
The nets in Kings right now have missed out in
three straights. Second, but see that's what I'm saying. It's
not long, so it's kind of hard, kind of hard.
Speaker 2 (01:47:06):
Yeah, we don't have an eighteen season that the Kings
had for so long. For the Jets, oh my god.
But the Hornets with ten and then the next one
being five, I think says a lot.
Speaker 5 (01:47:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:47:17):
I was like the Hornet I know for sure, And
it was like, this is one of my favorite questions
that I've asked. Name four or five single digit jerseys
not retired by the Boston Celtics.
Speaker 3 (01:47:34):
Not retired, I know, afforded to this.
Speaker 2 (01:47:37):
There's a method and I and I want to emphasize
single digit jerseys.
Speaker 4 (01:47:43):
Yes, you said four that have not for of five
that have not been Antoine Walker's one, I know I
would say that one.
Speaker 3 (01:47:50):
I just need a number.
Speaker 5 (01:47:53):
Eight.
Speaker 3 (01:47:54):
So that's eight.
Speaker 7 (01:47:56):
You said zero.
Speaker 9 (01:47:57):
Does that count because isn't that what Jason Datamare's Yes, okay,
right right, that's that was.
Speaker 1 (01:48:06):
Count?
Speaker 3 (01:48:06):
Okay, okay, so eight zero I think seven.
Speaker 12 (01:48:11):
Jalen Brown wars seven, good job, and.
Speaker 4 (01:48:15):
I would I would think five because Ron Mercer war
five for them.
Speaker 12 (01:48:20):
I think, no, didn't they just retire?
Speaker 3 (01:48:21):
That was fine?
Speaker 4 (01:48:22):
Oh, Kevin Garnet was no, he did play five? There,
good good, good saying bo? Wait, well no, what was
what was Paris's number? Bo?
Speaker 3 (01:48:41):
Because Tony Tony delk wore double zero the double zero count.
Speaker 4 (01:48:45):
Then it's is it a single digit or there two digits?
But it's like no digit, So but yes, that's two digits.
Speaker 5 (01:48:54):
I know.
Speaker 3 (01:48:55):
Eight zero seven.
Speaker 9 (01:48:59):
I really don't know, so I got to take a
guess if I am, I don't know what anyone's numbers are.
Speaker 7 (01:49:05):
I'm bad at that.
Speaker 3 (01:49:06):
It's kind of hard to remember because I remember. But
if it's yeah, if it's retired, like you say, you'll know,
like five is KG one? Who was one? One? Two?
I think this is one of my better questions that
I've asked.
Speaker 12 (01:49:24):
This is why retiring numbers is stupid.
Speaker 4 (01:49:28):
Eight zero seven we just need that's that's throw one
out there.
Speaker 3 (01:49:31):
We already just pick a random number. I think we're
pretty close on the on the over under here, we
already got about.
Speaker 12 (01:49:37):
One one retired?
Speaker 7 (01:49:40):
Yeah, who's one?
Speaker 12 (01:49:41):
What did Kyrie wear when he played there? Did he
wear eleven?
Speaker 3 (01:49:44):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:49:45):
Yeah, well I think I don't know because they changed numbers,
right if you could, you guys, just one, let's go one,
so eight, zero seven one for a perfect score?
Speaker 3 (01:49:57):
Down zero one seven eight in that order, Yes, okay,
zero one seven eight. Let's get the obvious out of
the way.
Speaker 2 (01:50:04):
Show me zero, Jason Tatum, all right, show me seven,
Jalen Brown, show me eight.
Speaker 3 (01:50:13):
This is the one you were so yeah, iion man for.
Speaker 4 (01:50:16):
A perfect score, You've already you've already hit the mark
for a perfect score.
Speaker 1 (01:50:22):
Is it one?
Speaker 5 (01:50:24):
It is not?
Speaker 2 (01:50:27):
One is retired in honor of a former founder of
the Boston Celtics, Walter Brown. Red Auerbach is got number
two retired?
Speaker 3 (01:50:39):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (01:50:40):
Was like?
Speaker 2 (01:50:40):
Number three is retired because of Dennis Johnson. Number five
is retired because of Kevin Garnett. J Number six is
retired because of Bill Russell. Russell six zero four, seven,
eight nine. The single digit Jersey numbers not retired.
Speaker 12 (01:50:56):
Was not retired. That's Rajon Rondo's number.
Speaker 3 (01:50:59):
YEP. If not retire, there you go, there you go
that job.
Speaker 9 (01:51:04):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:51:05):
I didn't think it of nine.
Speaker 7 (01:51:06):
No, I didn't either.
Speaker 3 (01:51:07):
Nope. But good work, guys, thank you, very good, good job.
Good job guys.
Speaker 2 (01:51:11):
The funny thing when you hit on the Kyrie thing,
you're right because he couldn't wear number one. It was
so I thought that's what you guys were going to
go to and be like, hey, not that I would
know that, you would know that the founder of the
Celtics had the one retire.
Speaker 3 (01:51:25):
But Robert Parrish's double zero is also retired by Boston.
That's all I was thinking.
Speaker 2 (01:51:29):
And good job nine out of ten today here on
the Job Guy Radio, Yes, I think we got a
tie game on the ice in Tampa. Moncey Belaanio is
giving us the latest of what's going on today. What's
going on?
Speaker 3 (01:51:40):
Manzi?
Speaker 7 (01:51:40):
You know the greatest words in sports.
Speaker 9 (01:51:43):
Game seven and there's three today, two in the NBA,
one in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Right now, the Lightning
and the Canadians are tied at one in this Game seven,
with three and a half minutes to go in the
second period.
Speaker 7 (01:51:56):
There is another hockey game, but it's.
Speaker 9 (01:51:58):
Game one between the Wild and the Avalanche, and that's
going to start at nine Eastern when it comes to
the NBA's second Game seven that's about to tip off
there literally announcing the lineup right now in Cleveland, Cavaliers
and Raptors going to start any second another Game seven.
While the Pistons completed their comeback fellas they were down
three to one in their series against the Magic, came.
Speaker 7 (01:52:18):
All the way back to win it one, sixteen to
ninety four.
Speaker 9 (01:52:21):
In Game seven. K Kate Cunningham led the way with
thirty two points in twelve assists. Detroit headed to the
Eastern Conference semifinals. When it comes to Anthony Edwards, Minnesota
is listing him as questionable for Game one against the Spurs.
He has been cleared for on court basketball activities. Apparently
he's really trying to make his way back on to
the court. At the NASCAR Cup Series out of the
(01:52:43):
Texas Motor Speedway, Chase Elliott won the race. In golf
at the Cadillac Championship, Cameron Young won it at nineteen
under par Overall. Scotti Scheffler came in second place, but
he was six shots back. When it comes to base ball,
there is no game going on right now. Actually it
just started. The Rangers and the Tigers are scoreless after
the first I mean some of the games that.
Speaker 7 (01:53:01):
Wrapped up well.
Speaker 9 (01:53:02):
The Yankees defeated the Oils eleven three, Aaron Judge with
his thirteenth home run of the season. Dodgers snapped their
losing streak with a four to one win over the Cardinals,
also snapping Saint Louis's six game winning streak.
Speaker 7 (01:53:12):
Padres over the White Sox four to three.
Speaker 9 (01:53:14):
Royals defeated the Mariners for one, and the Mets took
down the Angels five to one.
Speaker 7 (01:53:18):
The Cubs won another one. That's five in a row
for Chicago.
Speaker 9 (01:53:21):
They defeated the Diamondbacks eight to four. Pirates took down
the Reds that completed a three game sweep, coming out
on top one zero.
Speaker 7 (01:53:28):
Back to you guys, Thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (01:53:31):
Mons Yes, Monsie and I'll be together tomorrow here on
Fox Strick Radio here starting at three o'clock Eastern time,
Finder on x, Instagram and everywhere else. At Manzi Blanios
Carrie Roads you can find he make Carrie twenty five Roads,
getting nine of ten in easy as one, two, three, four.
I thought the questions were good. Today We're going I
knew you would know. Louisville and I thought that you
(01:53:53):
would know or with the Kentucky Derby line Kentucky yea.
I figured that that would be the case, but never know.
Find them on exat Carry twenty five Roads. You can
find me Dan Buyer at Dan Byer on Fox. Have
you ever missed your first day of work?
Speaker 5 (01:54:09):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:54:10):
No, not the first day.
Speaker 2 (01:54:12):
A high NFL draft pick would have a pretty good
excuse for missing his first day of work. We'll tell
you who that is and why next year on Fox
Sports Sunday Raptors and Calves Underway. It's a Fox Sports
Sunday Raptors up early eleven to five, three and a
half minutes in. Pistons punch their ticket so they await
the winner of this one. They can sit back, Hid
(01:54:34):
Cunningham can sit back knowing that they don't have to
go anywhere.
Speaker 3 (01:54:38):
They'll be hosting Game one in Motown.
Speaker 2 (01:54:40):
They just have to find out which of these two
teams will be traveling a short distance. Toronto and Detroit
not far from each other, and Cleveland and Detroit same thing.
Pretty dun close, man, Dan. When it comes to flying driving,
maybe a different story. You're cutting through Canada. It makes
it a lot shorter Dan.
Speaker 4 (01:55:01):
If the Calves can't find a way to win this game,
I mean, I think we already kind of have the
notion that Donovan Mitchell and James Harden can't can't win
you the big one. But if they can get out
the first round, I gets the Toronto Rapers here, would
that be like one of the biggest failures in like
NBA history or do we already kind of expect this.
Speaker 2 (01:55:23):
Let me let me say this, for how close they
were to winning in Game six, like to be you know,
so close, and then if you were to blow this,
it's still not as bad as what happened to Orlando,
like with their lead on Detroit that they ended up
blowing and like that's like that's worse. This is also
(01:55:45):
a four or five matchup. I think the names on
Cleveland draw you more and expect more from from them.
I just I looked at it the other way, Carrie,
like I looked at it in a way heading into today,
could I be living world where James Harden and Joel
Embiid face off in an Eastern Conference final, because that
(01:56:05):
was set up like the citam now there and we
didn't know if Orlando or Detroit would advance in Cleveland
has an opportunity to get to the conference semifinals. But
I'm like, my goodness, I don't know what's going to
happen if you have those two for a spot in
the NBA finals, because it's here feels like both are
immune and being as yet to even get to a
conference final. So like for that, that's how I ended
up looking at it. I don't think that it will.
(01:56:28):
I think that there will be people who are disappointed.
Plus the Cavaliers for the year that they had last
year to this year. Yep, maybe not cashing in. I
can tell you it won't help their reputations. That's a
long way of answering that question, don't I just don't
think it's going to be as big of a deal,
and we'll just throw the Calves in to a role
as we consider Donovan Mitchell and James Harden that the
(01:56:50):
spot that they're already in. Right, So Raptors up early
on the Cows, but again it's early, still midway through
the first quarter, just five minutes go by thirteen seven,
Torontos up on Cleveland. Fernando Mendoza first overall pick of
the Raiders Heisman Trophy, winning quarterback leads Indiana to a
(01:57:10):
national championship game, and now he's got a decision to
make carry roads. Do you get honored for your accomplishments
that you had in college, which includes a trip to
the White House in Washington, d C.
Speaker 3 (01:57:23):
Coming up next week, or.
Speaker 2 (01:57:27):
Do you show up for OTAs and work for the
Raiders that they've got in prepping for the upcoming season.
So here's the deal, Mendoza said, I think it's the
first day of OTAs.
Speaker 3 (01:57:44):
It's not. It's a week later.
Speaker 4 (01:57:46):
However, if you have that decision, if you're Fernando Mendoza,
would you have skipped your first practice to go to
the White House the first practice?
Speaker 3 (01:57:56):
No, a weekend? Yes, you would have asked. You would
have said, hey, here's the dal our team's being honored.
Speaker 4 (01:58:05):
I mean day one absolutely, not like he's he's he's
going into this situation to be the starting quarterback and
be the leader of that team. You got to be
there day one week. If it's the second week I'm
going to the White House.
Speaker 3 (01:58:18):
You would yes. I think it's such a tricky sort
of thing.
Speaker 2 (01:58:22):
I don't want to sit there and ask like this
trick to ask you about in any other job, could
you find that understandable if you were to say, I
know I'm supposed to start on Monday, but I have
to like there's there's.
Speaker 3 (01:58:37):
No way to say that.
Speaker 2 (01:58:39):
It's almost like you have to just say it right
up front the interview. Hey, if I would get this job,
I've got this to happen.
Speaker 3 (01:58:44):
That's in the real world.
Speaker 1 (01:58:46):
Here.
Speaker 2 (01:58:46):
I just wonder, and you would know more about what
it's like in an NFL world. If it is understandable
or if it's not understandable, it's definitely understandable.
Speaker 4 (01:58:54):
I think if you, like you said, if that was
discussed already, I'm sure the teams know that that was
coming up as well if they drafted him, so that
conversation wouldn't be as hard.
Speaker 3 (01:59:03):
But day one reporting, you gotta be there. You got
to be there.
Speaker 2 (01:59:09):
And again the OTAs Windoza thought that maybe his OTA
started on that day. They don't start till a week later.
But he said this, he said, I've got to prove myself.
I can't miss practice. I don't have the calendar, but
as a rookie, I don't think that's a good look.
I want to try to best serve my teammates, and
I don't know if that'd be accomplishing that goal the
right thing to say.
Speaker 3 (01:59:27):
The kid just says everything right, I mean like you
couldn't be.
Speaker 2 (01:59:32):
And then there's some people that could blow this up
that hey, he's missing it if he were to not
show up, but he's going to work like it would
still work.
Speaker 3 (01:59:39):
Out in the wash. For Fernando Mendozo, Yeah, he's got
both size checked for yes, as he does.
Speaker 2 (01:59:45):
Just another w just keeps on racking them up, all right,
Raptors Calves, who ends up winning this game?
Speaker 3 (01:59:51):
Seven to face the Pistons of the Eastern Semis.
Speaker 4 (01:59:53):
The Calves better win. I'm going to take the Calves
all right. After the slow start, Kerry expects them to
turn it on. I'll just be different in Saint Toronto.
So then you can text me and a night if
you're not to sleep, saying see I told you, the
Cavs told you so thanks to Mary Bow and Manzi.
We'll talk to you next week.
