was like, this is impossible. Are you kidding me? My,

Their tax bill alone, get this, The Dodgers tax bill

Right now, I just hate the structure of baseball. This

to the Dodgers, two time defending champions, yeah, is insanity.
I can't believe that bay Ball allows this to happen,
and I can't fault the Dodgers for doing it. It's
like a parent that just is like, Okay, if you
want ice cream for dinner, I guess that's it. I
can't fault the kid for taking advantage, right, I fault

the parents. I fault the league for allowing this to happen.

So this is definitely not the Dodger's fault. That we're
not gonna have baseball next season. At least baseball will
not start a time next season. So there's a the
cut of barkin agreements up between the players and owners
and a big push is going to be a hard
salary cap right to create competitive balance Baseball hasn't had
maybe forever, but it's been a long time. And they're

going to point the Dodgers being able to make these
moves and whatnot. And look, I hate the Dodgers. I'm
a Giants fan, right, but but I don't know. The
Giants owner is a billionaire. You can spend more money
if you wanted. The Dodgers are playing with the in
the system that's been designed for them, and they're aggressive
and they're going for it.

What I do find interesting though, is like they didn't
give up a ton like the prospect seem not. They're
that's like, okay, they're not the best prospects they gave up.
But people are pointing to well Scooble said he wants
to sign the Dodgers this offseason. Okay, but you knowing
the Birds could use him for a rental. Look, winning
a championship was worth it, right if you can get
schoobl and win a championship. And so it's just other

teams not wanting to spend. It's other teams not wanting
to be aggressive, and the Dodgers are going for it. Now,
the Dodgers do things that I think need to be fixed.
You shouldn't be able to defer money.

And they also have like a sweetheart TV deal where
they get way more money than anyone else does that
that gonda be fixed. You gotta fix that. So there
are things that have to be fixed with baseball and
the way they're run. But it's not the Dodgers fault
for playing when the parameters of the sport. Again, the
Giants owner is a billionaire. He could spend more money
if he wanted to. They don't, right, they don't. So

the Dodger do this, And and guys, is June's Dodgers
were last season. They're one out of way from losing
the World Series, and a player who had a hit
in a month for the Dodgers hit a home run
to tie that game, So like there were chances, and
then the Blues have had a chance at the bottom of
the nine thing like day the Dodgers. This doesn't guarantee
they're gonna win. It makes obviously much more likely they're

gonna win. But like last year, for as good as
they were last season, they were one out of way
from moving to the World Series, right, So that's baseball, man.
Baseball is an odd sport like that. So it does
feel like this is inevitable that they're gonna win even
right now, you know. And then I know, it's hard
to say because they're probably coasting a little bit through

the regular season, but there are other good baseball teams
right now, now, come posts in time, are they competitive
with the Dodgers. The Brewers have a better record by
half a game, right, It's not like the Cubs stink
or the Braves and phil Phillies are you know, playing better.
The Orioles have won a bunch of games in a
row now, and and the race, the Race feel like
they're good every year, but they're actually doing anything. The

Posts like, there are good baseball teams that can be
competitive with the I mean, they're gonna win, but it
didn't also be the Dodgers are just gonna roll through
the you know, the postseason.

You know, I didn't check the odds before Preschooble here,
but I know now at bet MGM to win the
National League, the Dodgers are minus one twenty five, which
seems it just doesn't seem it's amazing. This time of
the year, a team could be minus one twenty five
to win the entire National League, and of course to

win the World Series plus one forty five. Now teams
that are behind them, the Yankees, Brewers, Braves. The value
maybe on these teams because all the money that's going
on the Dodgers, Brewers nine to one to win the
World Series, Braves eleven to one. Now, Dan, you're talking
to you know, almost twenty to one raised Red Sox,

and so I see the odds. Now, I did not
look before, just off hand to win the National League.
That just seems like I'm not laying one time. I'm
not laying anything. Granted they are the favorite, but I'm
not gonna lay a dollar. I expected to take a
little bit back. Not happening. Brewers are second plus four fifty,
Braves plus six to one. Lots of money, I'm sure.

Going on the Dodgers, We'll have to ask when our
bet MGM representative comes on here later on, I have
to ask them if they get took any money and
what's their their big risk. Right now on the Dodgers.

I'll tell this as as a player, like I've been
in the locker room and we've been like okay, and
you convince yourselves that you all got to do. Oh,
he needs a chance, give us a chance to get
in the postseason and we can win. I'd buy that
as like a player. But that's not the job of

is to think rationally, Like we're players, We're gonna think irrationally.

Their job of the front office is to be the
ones that held you know, that are the responsible for
keeping the team in the right path and those things.

I think sometimes front offices get just way too excited
the prospect. You know, sometimes Brian, it's about keeping your
job too, right, make the playoffs you get to keep
your job, you know. So there's some selfish reasons why
front offices might go out and try to acquire players
they don't need. But other than that, yeah, I mean

that's the You're supposed to be level headed, if you
if you run the team and do things in the
best interest of the long term future for your team.

Yeah, it's like, listen, man, there's nothing wrong with being
a little bit overweight. But Jeff, and if you guys
look in front of the mirror and you're like, you know,
I think I should rock a thong at the beach,
you know, I think it's like no, man, No, Like
these teams are like, you know, I think we can
make a run and win it all. And it's like, no, man,
You're you're three out of the wild card race.

yourself of this. It doesn't work. And maybe that's why
no one traded for schoobl in the end, is that

gonna win championships, so why even why bother? We're not
gonna be the Dodgers. But again, during various points, the
Dodgers have had you know, or have been, you know,
close to losing a series. Sure, it's not like they're

just sweeping everyone and there's no way. So the idea
that they cannot lose at all, it's not true. Now
absolutely schooloy. Are they better, Yeah, of course they're better
with schoobl but they can still lose, like they have
not hit very well in the in the playoffs last
couple of years. Like they can absolutely not win the
World Series. It's gonna be hard. I'm not betting against it.

But it doesn't get to you. They're gonna win the championship.

here these first Shoe games especially, Wait do you see
the public how they're all over this guy and you

betting against. And as far as Milwaukee goes, I don't

and then they confirm it in the post game both
of them. Do you think they're the first people in
sports to have a side bet between friends game? Of
course not. But the fact is it's not public, right,

don't believe games are fixed in that game though, like
Page did not take the final shots, she passed the
ball to very end. Like you can make connections if
you want, the things that happen in games. Because they're
openly talking about betting on game. It's four hundred bucks.
It means absolutely nothing, right. It did not outcome to

and this is actually interesting, to look at the top teams. Okay,
they're not getting upset anymore. They're not They're they're too good.

you look at it at Notre Dame, and you look
at at and Texas had won last year, they did

lose to to UH to Florida, Georgia. Is not it's
not happy. It's not really happening anymore because I think
the talent is so grand on those teams now that
and and they're not going to lose anymore. The lower
level teams, their talent's getting getting taken from them and
given to the top teams. And it's just hard to
pull upsets anymore. These players too, are not rattled in

quite the same way they used to be. They do
all the seven on seven tournaments, they travel the world
before they go to college, and then also they're getting
paid now, like they're kind of there. They're more professional
mindset now than like emotional nineteen year old who I'm
on the road. It's loud. I don't know what to do.
It just it. He's it's changing a little bit in
the sport where we're not now. It doesn't mean that

they cover all the games on the road. We're just
not seeing I think the same level of upset. And
I mean I don't I don't pencil in upsets anymore.
Like for a lot of these teams, I do like
over unders. I'm just like they're gonna win the games
they should. They might, you know, the fifty to fifty games.
You know, you don't know, But like Oregans wintals ten
and a half, they're not Ohio State. It's a fifty

so much more difficult to do it in this nil

to coaches talk about openly talk about roster management now
because now they're getting money from the school versus the
you know, there' still get money nil, but there's a
settlement of twenty million dollars. They're getting a lot more
money now, and so they're talking about roster management. Who
were paying, who are not. It's just a must different
job now. And you know, the coaches that have adapted

to it the best are the ones that are succeeding.
And you know there's a handful of those guys, and
we know that they're doing the better other ones, and
so you know, the sports just completely changed.

It's funny too, because, like if you visualize it like this,
imagine a game. Let's just say it's Toledo and they're
going up against one of the power for big boys,
and right before the game, Toledo's two best players just
switch uniforms and go play for the other team.

Yeah, like that, that's what's happening.

Speaker 2 (52:31):
It doesn't happen right before the game, before kickoff on
the field, but that's what's happening in the off season.
So it's like, good luck taking down that team that
your two best guys just went and they played for
the other team. That's what happens, left and right. I
want to throw some NFL at you. How about the
forty nine ers. Ricky Piersoll, He's down for the season,
one of their wide receivers. It's got this lingering PCL injury.

Kind of interesting, right, You normally don't hear about a
lingering PCL injury, but he decided to have surgery. He'll
be down for the entire season. The Niners did sign
Deebo Samuel, so he's back there with the Niners. But
you look at it just from a wide receiver standpoint,
Brandon Aiyuk eventually is going to be gone. Juwan Jennings
has gone to the Vikings, Ricky Piersol is out for

the season. You get Deebo Samuel back, but a lat
going on just with receivers. Christian Kirk got banged up
the first day of camp, So a lot going on
with the Niners already. And we're just barely in August
right now.

So I don't believe this electrical substation theory that people
have with the Niners where it's hard to like start
thinking otherwise.

great on the team, and now everyone's hurt, their coach
is hurt. The Rams are good, the Seahawks are good.
Maybe Arizona's a little bit better this season. It feels
in the Niners are an under team.

This is example of the grass isn't always greener on
the other side, deepo one out of San Fran so
bad that he required he requested a trade and the uh,
you know, after only one year away, he's now back

same way that they did before, So I expect to
see him getting a few rush attempts this season. You know, guys,
you said these other moving parts of the big accident
that he almost lost his eye. I read that he
came within like an inch of losing his eye. So

guys said that this this, you know, maybe this could
be the bet against team for the year and maybe
even under on their seat. I didn't bet this season wins,
but it may be something to look at.

I think we spent all of our time just talking
about the Patriots ad nauseam and their easy schedule, that
we overlooked the Niners having a pretty favorable schedule last season,
and it's tough for this year. So I don't think
they get the same breaks as they did last season.
Granted they had a tough division last year as well,
but I mean you're looking at their three games, you know,

playing a last play schedule last season, that's what they did.
So there are three games that affected it. At the
Giants where they won, Giants were not a good team
and this is in November right this Giants are not
great down the stretch. They had at the Browns, they
beat the breaks off the Browns, and then they had
the Bears and they ended up winning that game as well.

Now the Bears were a good team. That was a
shootout at the very end of the season, but two
of those games were very favorable. It's a different story
this season. It's just if you look at the Niner schedule,
you're playing the NFC East top to bottom, which has
got a decent amount of depth. There's not a team
that's just like a doormat in that division. John Harbon

now with the Giants, Washington will be better with Jayden
Daniels and they play the AFC West top to bottom,
which is another good division. So last season they played
the NFC South and the AFC South. That's a much

and there, you know, from the casual players, it's always

about that game, but it is always hard to kind
of tie up your money for a few months out
of there. And then of course there's the tracts of
the world who will come in with trying to put

then those smart guys trying to get on. So it's
a little bit of a game for us just to

you know, how much we want to take on something
that far out versus how you know, we do know
that it will end up moving, and typically with those
smart guys, So it's a little give and take when.

You put out some of those those those look ahead
lines at the game of the airlines, do you want them
to be shaped by the sharps to come in and
move them for you guys, or do you hoping that
sort of the number you put out is something that
everyone sort of agrees upon.

Yeah, I mean, of course, ideally we'd like it for
just to be for us to nail the number and
that's the perfect number that it's going to end up being.
But of course there's always injury and things that can
change from there. But you know, the idea is also
to take that information. You know, of course, if Crack
comes in and wants a certain line for a certain number,
you know, for us it's you know, we'll take a
certain amount of that and then try to use that

information to our advantage. So of course, if somebody like
that coming in embedding that far out, that means that
they have a pretty good idea of where that's going
to go, and so for us, you know, we'll then
to start trying to shade in that direction. It always
can to be around key numbers. You know, if we
see a game that we have listed at maybe three
and a half or two and a half, we start
seeing action one way. You know, we know that that

game then probably is going to go around that key number,
and it's probably a good idea for us to start
looking that way.

Yeah, so this is probably a tough one for multiple reasons,
because it just makes that team that has won back
to back championships and were already the favorite that much
stronger to win. Uh, they didn't actually move into too
far from where they were, as they were already a
heavy favorite at this point. And also from the bets
that we have taken before this, they were probably somewhere

around forty percent of our total money bet on MLB
futures this year, and you know it's probably you know,
somewhere around in that forty to forty five percent range,
but they were already far and away our most bet
on team, so so for us, we don't have any
liability currently. They're not a great winner for the book

because of the amount of money that they've taken. But yeah,
I mean that's just kind of where we stand on it.

No, No, for live games. You know, live games are
going to always end up taking a significant amount of action.
Then especially with people sitting there watching and betting it.
So no, I can't think of a time where there
would be a day where maybe it would there have
to be. The best chance we would maybe have is

maybe if you counted that first day where people are
putting in their futures and best that they want to do,
it usually comes closer to first kickoff.

Fever games are still very popular, still one of our

Clarke has had a couple of good games here and
shortened up a little bit in the m v P market,
But even looking at that, used to always be her,
you know, four to five to one the amount of money,
but she's not even our most bet on player this season,

as a whole that the w NBA betting is still
very high. That part is still there, but the Fever
specific hype has certainly died down.

or two MLB games will beat it, but if not,
it'll be right up top there. It would be funny
too because we will our limits will be very low

and we won't be taking many big wagers on this
game as with most NFL preseason games, So that's not
going to stop people from the first football game of
the year having people want to have a bet on it.

the Dodgers are not guaranteed to win, but with their
stacked roster, the talent that they have, they're probably going

guaranteed to win. It's similar to the nineties Bulls. They
won every time, and the Dodgers are probably gonna stack

ways to win. Right. They're starting pitching. Is that much better?
That actually moves one of their starters now to the

the NFL just yet, right, Like I'm thinking about Aaron Donald, yeah,
or players like that where we heard this with Gronk, Right,
will Gronk come back and maybe play like, you know,
six games down the stretch and get ready for a
playoff run. We really haven't seen that become a thing, right,
Do you think we're getting close? I don't think it's
gonna be able to become this huge trend. But do

you see a player like Aaron Donald coming back playing
a handful of regular season games getting ready for a
playoff run with him or other players that are a
little bit longer in the tooth but still have great ability.
Can you see them being part time players in the NFL.
We just haven't seen that become a thing yet.

Well. I could see Donald coming back like week eight
and working himself in the shape and being ready to
go for the playoffs. But the reason why part time
players is nearly impossible. Brian is just you have to
be ready to physically play fifty snaps, and you can't
do that unless you play. You just can't. You're not
ready for that yet. And then also you own a
certain number of roster spots, and do you use a

(01:43:52):
roster spot up for a guy who's not gonna play
is really wasteful, especially later in the season when guys
are getting hurt and guys are getting beat up. Roster
spots for guys that are gonna play. And I'm sure
aeron On will tell you if Aaron comes back, he's
coming back to play. It's not coming back to be
roster managed and load managed to get to the postseason.
He will not be as good as the postseason if
he hasn't played and built the stamina up to play

(01:44:14):
in a full playoff game. And so that's why part
time players, it feels like impossible. I just again, if
he comes back, which I think he will, he might
not come back for training camp, he might not come
back to Week four with the goal of playing December
and January. But he's have to play to get in
shape to get ready for the postseason. So I think
it's the only impolant that we've seen players like remember

(01:44:36):
when Eric Weddle came back for like the postseason with
I think the Rams Super Bowl. I mean, that'sn't even
part time. He just showed up in December, which is
one of the most incredible things I've seen a player do,
and and I think end up tearing as packer his
try step in the Super Bowl. But he mostly played
from the couch right to the field. That's not part time, though.
I think part time player feels it's fun and theory

by this thing. It feels impossible to practically operate that way.

that you're saying they need real reps on the field
during real games, But are you saying, like in scrimmages,

now Hall of Famer. I think maybe he's inducted this year.

don't need thirty.

Like there's a certain number that guys need, but they
need to actually practice and then to get ready for games,
and they need games to get ready for more games,
like you need that. I there was basically twice in
my career I practiced zero during the weekend, played in
a game and it was miserable.

One time I was in shaved. I played all season long,
my back got messed up, and by Friday I was
able to practice a little bit. On Friday, we were
in Seattle, and then I played Sunday atrociously, and then
with the Giants, I want to disciccated my toe. I
came back for the Odell Catch game, my first game
of the year. I basically didn't practice all week because
my toe was messed up, and then I played and
broke my leg on Sunday. But like even someone who

was in shape, missing a week of practice and then
trying to play Sunday was hard.

In the Odell game, you broke your leg.

Speaker 6 (01:46:26):
No, No, Odell game was my first game back of
the season, and I desiccated my toe in the preseason.
Came back to Odell Catch game the next game. I
broke my leg next game, but I didn't practice that
week because my toe was was still pretty messed up
from playing the game. So yeah, it was. It was
rough even when even when I was like, you know,
in relative shape to do that. So that's why I

(01:46:49):
think it's just you need the reps to do it.
You must practice to be able to play so and
then you must play in games get ready to play
more games. And that's why the part time player is
nearly possible to do well.

I also think it's position based as well. You know,
I'm not saying there's a position where you know, you
just throw a couple of cheetos in the air, catch
them in your mouth, and like put me in coach,
I'm good to go.

I'm not saying that, But like d line, that's a
completely different animal.

But to get in game shape correct, what would you
say are like the easier positions to get ready for.

Well, we've seen it seems to be quarterback because Philip
Rivers came out of nowhere and was Joe Flacco alfha
bench of one. It seems like like older veteran quarterbacks
can just do it. I bet Tom Brady can still play.

I bet you can still play, still play.

Absolutely, I think that that's the position, which is honest
and said now that it's not for young guys, though
I'm not talking about old veterans. They can come back
and play. Like I think a young guy can't just
show up and play quarterback who hasn't play in the NFL.
But I definitely think that older quarterbacks can absolutely just
show up and manage him. Again, the question is like

the physicality, Philip rivers famously like, yeah, is he got
