Living the dream once again. Here on a fully loaded
NFL Sunday, Week eleven. This is end Zone Radio, when
the Fox Sports Radio Studios is gonna have seven games
kickoff right now. Panthers at the Falcons, Buccaneers at the Bills,
Texans at the Titans, Bears at the Vikings, Packers at
the Giants, Bengals at the Steelers, Chargers at the Jaguars.

Things are getting serious now. You get to mid November,
you get serious around the National Football League. And of
course I have my man VJ sitting here decked out
in his Dolphins gear. One of the great victories in
Miami Dolphin's history. Today not but they found a way
to win.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
I'm not gonna be a hypocrite because I've said it
over and over again. There are no style points in
the NFL. It's very simple. Either you win a game
or you lose a game. It was an ugly game
for both teams, but the Miami Dolphins prevailed in over time.
So how are you celebrating or are you celebrating a
mighty victory for your Miami Dolphins to start this Sunday.

I don't celebrate regular season victories. Number one, Number two
wasn't a mighty victory. Like you said, there's no style
points in football. It's not just the NFL. There's no

the NFL that I want to give the NFL credit. They
had a symposium there with kids. They had a flag
football event there. They had a class teaching event there,
teaching the game a broad to the kids that want
to play it, they want to love it. And I'm
not all for getting up at five p forty five.
I've been up since five thirty this morning because I'm
not missing my Dolphins right that kickoff is at six.
But you know, you got a bunch of national anthems,

you got a bunch of stuff they wanted to present.
The game didn't start to six point thirty. It was
almost like six fifteen six to twenty Pacific time by
the time the game started, So I'm not always up
for that, but I do love the way the NFL
went and put the game on display for the first
time ever in Spain, in Madrid, a place where you
know where the legends of legends Frank Sinatra they mentioned,
performed there back in eighty seven, you know. And in all,

in all the football stars of Beckham and Messi and
Ronald Though and the like, the people whose.

Feet have touched that pitch a great job.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
But listen, it's a dub Dolphins cover two and a
half point favors that I picked last night over everyone's
forty seven and a half. I took the under on that,
so I'll take all my cash hands on the win
to cover.

And now you gotta you know, you gotta week up
with the Saints, and you try to put some ones
together here like every team does things well.

I mean, you know, one of the things about when
we get to this point of the season is all right,
who's for real here?

These seven teams we had a lot of teams are
going to sort of prove themselves are they really going
to get into the postseason. One game we're watching right
now is the Steelers at home against the Bengals. And
if you haven't been paying attention, now, the Lamar Jackson
is back.

Here come the Ravens.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
So the Steelers are staggering, the Ravens are rising, and
all of a sudden, there's only a one game difference.
So the Steelers at home against the Bengals absolutely need
to win today.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
They cannot lose this game. The Ravens obviously will be
playing a little bit later on the road against the Browns.
So you got these, you know, in division games in
that AFC North, and it's always a battle.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Every one of these games is a battle. But yeah,
I mean the Steelers, you know, coming off a horrific game, honestly,
and now they got a rebound and win at home
against the Bengos.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
That's one team.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Another team is the Bears, you know, because the Bears
are all of a sudden, everyone, they've won six out
of seven. They're on the road again, a division game
against a Vikings team that has to win to stay
in this hunt in the NFC North. Are the Bears
for real? The Texans on the road against the Titans.
Are the Texans for real? Got this great match? The

Panthers coming off that horrible loss at home against the Saints.
They're on the road against the Falcons. Are the Panthers
for real? Are they a team that could actually get
into the bostseason?

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Who they shut out? Who they shut out previously? Exactly?
Who they shut out previously last time they played and
beat them thirty one to.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Nothing exactly, So I mean, and then you got really
marquee matchups Chargers Jaguars cross country games are always difficult,
but Jim Harri finds a way to get his team
ready for these games. And then this game sort of
the game of the morning is this Buccaneers Bills game.
You know, Bucks coming off of a tough loss and
the Bills you know, just absolutely you know what in
their pants down in Miami and they got dominated by

the Dolphins last week.

So this is really one of those days.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
And we got several games going on right now where
we got to see something from one of these teams.
If we're actually gonna be buying in by the way
later on coming up, we're gonna have in our next
hour our latest Power five rankings. I know you worked
overtime on that. I'm a little different because I go
in the moment. You know, I can sort of flip.

I have several spots lower when I'm like, let me
see what I see this morning here. But yeah, it's
it's just one of those weeks, meejay, where a lot
of teams really have to step up and prove.

And I'll piggyback off that too. Let's go to the
Niners and the Cardinals. The Niners just got embarrassed. I
my Power five is gonna look drastically different this week
that it did last week. And that's because I'm I'm
going week to week with this. I'm not I'm not
going with my heart. I'm not going on my feelings
I am. I am not being a hypocrite and doing
what I always say people need to do. Put the
tape on. Film does not lie. I don't care what

variable you want to come up with, what excuse you
want to give, what personal narrative, which is popular in
our business nowadays, personal narratives all day long. Put the
damn tape on, and the tape will tell you a
game like that today is super and uber. Indpoint, you
talked about the Bills and the Bucks. I have no
idea what to get out of this game because the

Bucks have been a little banged up. They haven't had
Mike Evans a little bit. But we've been talking about
the Bills. They starts back five weeks ago against the Saints,
where the Saints.

Had that game it should have beat them.

The Jets played them tough, the Patriots win in there
and beat them. They go down to Miami and get
their asses handed to them. But then they look great
against the Chiefs. Right, they look great at only because
the Chiefs on primetime television for the world to see.
So this game is huge and the Bucks come in
at a six point favorite. Here you talk about Ravens
and Browns. You didn't even mention Chiefs at Bronco.

Well, we'll get to our later today games games period.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Today you talk about teams that we want to find
we want to find out about the Packers and Giants.
Packers at the Giants today have a great defense. Burns
is tied with Garrett without Miles Garrett for the sacks.
That defense has been playing fine.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Man, you know what game We're not going to be
talking about Cowboys at the Raiders on money night because.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
That is a dog game.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
But it means a lot.

Too le franchises that are left behind. It was basically
what they are re courses we have for both of
those franchises. Dallas' defense decks making sixty million. Do you fire,
Pete Carroll? What's going on with Tom Brady in the
front of wards? Are you kidding?

Steelers get on the board first, right down the field.
The Steelers get on the board with a thoroughly touchdown
against the Bengals here, so that Bengal defense looks bad
and the Steelers took advantage right there. Warren, by the way,
three carries forty three yards on this drive. Hit a
big run that really set up this touchdown pass Aaron

Rodgers a little screen tackling tackles. Look at this knock
into the end so and no one touched him, all right,
So the Bengals they simply don't have any defense.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
By the way, you mentioned the Packers on the Giants.
Guess what Giants have a first and goal on the
Green Bay eight yard line. Jamis Winston, famous is at
quarterback right now, three for forty four yards on this
opening drive, so he's got them in a position to
get an early lead at home against the Giants.

And that's the one thing.

You know, one thing we've we've talked a lot, and
you've mentioned the fact that literally half of the teams
in this league have had a backup quarterback start games
this year.

In the NFL.

That makes sixteen today, by the way, jamis May sixteen,
so we're at half.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
So but that's the second, right, really, Giants, Wilson, that's
the third quarter. But the thing about it is when
you get that fresh face in there, you know, teams
sort of get behind him. And you know, one thing
I've always said about Jameis Winston, this goes all the
way back to his days at Florida State. Guy has
amazing talent. He always has had amazing talent. And when

we go back to his infamous year at Tampa where
he had thirty three touchdowns and thirty picks. He had
seven pick sixes that year, and I believe after every
single pick six he followed up by a touchdown pass.
I mean, he was just he had over five thousand yards.
It was really one of the all time statistical years.
Ever for an NFL quarterback. But make no mistake about it,

Jameis Winston has talent. He has a men's talent. It's
just been wildly inconsistent and that is why he has
found himself in and out as far as a starting
quarterback position in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
But off to a good start right now.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Texans also on their opening drive and they need this
win desperately. Again, Davis Mills is back in a quarterback
for the Texans. You know, unbelievable last week. So they
come back and now at four and five, trying to
stay alive right now on the road against the one
and eight Titans, but they have a four down at
the Tennessee thirteen yard line there. So yeah, I mean,

I can't wait for this data unfold here VG. We
got just a lot of different games. We get serious now.
I mean we're passed well past now the halfway point.
Now we're coming down the stretch. And you know what
happens is these weeks unraveled week after week as teams
eventually do fall off the map. Then you have those
games where you have teams that have to win versus

teams that are playing for nothing but what they call pride,
you know, yeah, and those are very hard games to predict.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
And I tell you something else at this point of
the season two, it's I wrote the word parody down
in my notes because I haven't.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
I didn't really see parody until last week.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
They're legitimately, in my opinion, four teams that have a
legitimate not a fan, not a fanboy, not to.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Try to go out on a limb when.

You put the tape on, on both sides of the
ball and on special teams. There are four teams that
can win this team this year, and I think they're
the only four that's gonna win it. No one's coming
as a dark horse. All your dark horse picks are
out of the window. The Coats are not a dark
horse pick anymore. Ladies jump, They're eight and two like
they're legit. There were a dark horse pick in August.
You can't call.

nineteen point lead in the fourth quarter, that's got to
play with your mind. Right now, Jags are at five
and four record wise, they're very much in the playoff chase,
but they can't afford to lose this game at home
to a Charger team, And again when we watch coaches

manufacturer wins. That's the way it's been for the Chargers
this year. Every team's going to have weeks where they
don't play well. By the way, Chargers did get a
field goal there, all right, so the field goal for
the Chargers taking early three nothing lead. But it's those
games when you're not playing well, okay, and you just
find a way to win. And more often than not

that happens because your coach figures it out. How do
we manipulate a day where we're not playing one hundred percent?

Find a way to win. And Jim Harbaugh does that
as well as any coach in the NFL. I don't
know if Jim Harbaugh does.

I think he coaches his guys to stay in, stay
in the fight until the end. And we know you've
covered sports. I've covered sports. You've been around a lot
of pro athletes. So if I you know, we know
guys check out, right, we know guys check out.

Man. You can see body language in games. You can
see guys check out in third quarter? Is fourthqode you

same stuff, it's low hanging fruit. At this point, we
know what a guy is. This two years ago, Like,
we know who the guy is. But Hardball's just a guy.
I think he just coaches his teams that, hey, let's

just fight.

Scrap. Mike Tomlin's another guy like that, Right, let's just
we're gonna fight.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
We're scrapped, Mike Rabel, the guy that you're loved, Right,
we're gonna have just fight.

Is scrapping. But we're gonna continue to do the.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
Right things fundamentally because we've practiced that way. We've trained
that way, we coach that way, so by the time
it happens in game time and full speed in real time,
you know what to do and how to accomplish it.
But this Chargers team, I tell you this is there's
six and one against the AFC. This will go a
long way, man, if they can get this dubbed today

(18:58):
when we start talking about tiebreakers and things that, oh yeah,
when we're trying to line up seating for the AFC.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Playoffs, Yeah, tie breakers are a little tough at this point.
But you're right. I mean, every one of these games counts.

The Bills just got in the end zone on a
keeper by Josh Allen on third and goals, So the
Bills retake the lead here six to three, waiting on
the extra point. Falcons tied up their game against the
Panthers John Robinson getting into the end zone, so seven
to all in that game.

But yeah, I mean, this is this same.

When we talk about coaches or you know, getting your
players on the same page, that's all your that's that's
your job as a coach. That is your job as
a coach. She'll hold a team together. You mentioned the
AJ Brown situation. I was listening to our buddy T. J.
Huschman Zadam defending AJ Brown, and his defense of AJ

(19:49):
Brown was, you know, when it's your livelihood and you're
not producing numbers that they can turn around and use
against you the next time that you are looking at contract.
And I always appreciate this about it is that he
talks it's about money, folks. Don't stop with any of
this other you know, it's the ultimate team sport, blah
blah blah. No, it's about money, and you get paid

(20:09):
on your individual performance. And if you're not getting the
ball as a wide receiver, and that's the problem with
playing wide receiver, you're really at the mercy of the
offense of the quarterback. If he's not throwing you the ball,
you're not going to produce numbers. But at the end
of the day, when his guaranteed money runs out and
they're like, well, you know your production's down, we can't
pay you that anymore. The problem for AJ Brown, in

(20:32):
my opinion, is simply this. And I'm well familiar with
the Philadelphia media. They will bait you. Everyone talks about
Charles Barclay. I had a former partner of mine Philly
Billy Warrendell, who worked in the market. When Charles Barkley says,
when Barkley first.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Came into the NBA, he didn't talk.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
The problem was they had Julius Irving, who is like
only the nicest person ever to play in the NBA,
so he was never gonna have any meat on the bone.
And the Moses Malone was not exactly a communicator, let's
just say that full. So they needed somebody and they
sort of baited this kid, Charles Barkley, and they got
stuff out of him and sort of created the monster.

(21:09):
And I say that in a kind way that he
is today. So with AJ Brown, they just keep hammering.
I'm like, boy, man, they're not throwing you the ball?
Are you upset?

Speaker 2 (21:18):
And he keeps responding to it. I don't think that's
what it is at all.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Well, I do, because that's what I'm hearing out of Philadelphia.
They found that AJ Brown is giving them exactly what
they want to stir the pot.

But ninety percent of the media does you know, corny
stuff like that, And I don't like to be part
of at and like, why is he doing a public
Like I said before, you know, I've now had enough
spirits in my life of being in press rooms in
the NFL, the NBA, Major League Baseball, and the National
Hockey League, and I tried my hardest and damness to
avoid trying to bait any I want to ask real

thought provoking questions. So I get what you're saying, but
I don't think that's what it is. Well, you are
doing it right, but you know there are.

I know they're just I've seen it up closer kids
that because they are under pressure by their editors.

Give me a quote, give me some meat, and I
think it's discussing.

We're just really fast with TJ because I heard it,

We we both feel the same exact way. If you
and let me use this analogy. If you were in
this business which we're in, and you get paid to
do what talk right, and say you got put on
the show with two other guys and you couldn't really
get your talking points in and you really couldn't get

your words, and then contract time comes up and they go, well,
you know what, Hartman, we know you're a Hall of Famer,
we know you worked for did you work.

immediately because you know, this is a team that got
off to an unexpected fast start with all the injuries
that they have some it seems like they have come
back to earth a little bit. Obviously, these are musk

games at this point, but what's your read right now?
The forty nine ers a legitimate playoff contender.

Speaker 11 (36:11):
I think a legitimate playoff contender, but I don't know
how far they go beyond that. A lot of young
guys been pressing the service quickly, as you mentioned some
of those key leaders, you know, not on the field form.
I think the biggest losses is probably front and warner.
I mean, I know that Nick Bosa is a tremendous
as rusher, but you lose all that leadership and just
his ability to kind of police that middle of the field,

and that's an area that that San Francisco has struggled
to defend a little bit. But Tatumuthune's doing a really
nice job stepping in there. But that's that's the big thing.
On the defensive side of the ball, It's just a
lot of key injuries, especially up front, and when you're
not getting pressure on the quarterback, it's going to make
it hard. But the good news is on the offensive side,
this will be the first time they've got all those
key guys together since the first half of Week one,

So some positive news on the offensive side of the ball.

It's big, it really is. I don't think anybody's gonna
deny that, just for what the potential for their the
remainder of the season to be for. But getting back
to the Rams game, when you talk to Kyle Shanahan,
Kyle is is very confident that that was missed opportunities.
At the beginning of that game, Like you said, you
blink and it's twenty one to nothing. You know, the
Rams are going down, they're getting touchdowns, and the forty

nine ers are going three and out, turning the football
over and then getting stuffed on four in one of
the eleven yard line. So there was an opportunity for
him there to kind of maintain pace with the Rams,
and that's where everything kind of went sideways on him.
And now you've got to get outside of your game
plan and now you're chasing a little bit. So it
was very difficult. One of the things that Kyle shared
with us when we had our conversation yesterday was when

he watches Arizona on tape, this does not look like
a three and sixteen. You know, it looks like you know,
the you know, the San Francisco forty nine ers. You know,
they're going through some different things. But he says, when
you watch them, you know that discipline on the defense
is still there. They're a little bit more talented in
the defensive line. You can see that it's year three
in the system and the guys are pretty pretty spot

on with their assignments. So Kyle has done his evaluation,
you know, during the course of the prep for this one,
and has done a really good job messaging to his players. Hey,
don't get caught up in what happened last week in
Seattle and the score that you saw there. You know
there are other five losses are by thirteen points total.
You know this this is a good team that has

just struggled to get over the hurdle during the four
of the season.

Jonathan Gannon. I like this guy.

always enjoyed Jonathan Gannon when we've had an opportunity to
visit with him, whether it's a head coach to the
Cardinals or the defensive coordinator of the Eagles. He's always
been very transparent, you know, very real. He doesn't mix words,
he doesn't give you coaches cliches. He's very honest when
we have our discussions. So he's always been a real

(39:40):
joy and a real pleasure to work with us. It's
hard when you come into a situation where the quarterback
has just signed one of those really big contracts and
you're kind of you're kind of tied to him for
a while as you work through that process. And that's
exactly where they find themselves right now. In regards to
Kyler Murray. I think it's going to be interesting to
see how that plays itself out once the season's over with.

(40:01):
But I think there was a big message since right
after that Dallas game, and really when you look at
what Jacoby has done and kind of some of the
comments that you hear from some of the team means
I think the team is comfortable moving forward in this
direction the remainder of the season, and then it's just
an assessment of what happens, you know, moving forward, And
you know, I'm going to be cheering for him. I

really like him. You know you have to, you have
to take a step back right and look at what's
happened to him this year. James Connor. When you lose
James Connor early in the season. You lose so much
more than just the production at the running back position.
You lose a mentality, all right, lose leadership.

finally the quarterback. The one thing about Caleb Williams and
the maturity factor from year one to year two, his

That is the one thing you can't do.

on to the next play. He's had an inconsistent day

only teams that are out out of it at this
moment are the one and two win teams. Like if
you've got two wins, one win, you're out. This division

is still gonna be wide open. You have a big
game with the Lions coming up later on tonight against
the Eagles on the road. You have the Giants right
now handling the Packers. So even a lost today for
Minnesota doesn't a race and wipe their season out, because
if you have other teams in your division still losing,
you still stay within striking distance. We don't know what's
gonna happen with some of these injuries also to around

this division. I don't know what's the word on Jordan
Love going into the ten to coming back out. Remember
they have a five and three to one record, so
they have that like that tie that's gonna either hurt

damage to your body, which it did to his kidney.
Eventually had to have a kidney transplant. But I go
back to my use CLA days. Kenny was at UCLA
when I was at UCLA. We were We knew each
other from college. When he got elected to the Hall
of Fame in twenty seventeen by the Senior Committee, came
on my radio show We Reminisced. Let me tell you
a quick story here, and I told this yesterday with Monsey.

So he's that serious, right, So I I wasn't gonna

and get onto a different bus. So now we arrive
in LA We're all walking off the plane and I
feel a hand on my shoulder.

I turn around. It's easily. He looks at me, goes,
I had you going, didn't I make.

Speaker 3 (49:34):
One of the greatest guys you will ever meet, one
of the most phenomenal players. Ronnie Lave will tell you
because he's played at USC at the same time that
Kenny was at UCLA.

Kenny was a better player. Scared. I was scared. He
was you.

Speaker 3 (49:47):
I tell you what he gave you. The look I got,
you wouldn't move, You'd be like out. It was unbelieable,
but it was very sad. It's you know, he had
a lot of health problems in recent years, but one
of the all time greats. I was so happy the
pro Football Hall of Fame recognize him. Even though he
had a shortened career, he belonged in the Hall of Fame.
