Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Living the dream once again here on a fully loaded
sports Sunday. This is Fox Sports Sunday, and we're in
the Fox Sports Radio studios. Now that's not just any
Sunday for you, yours truly, because my UCLA Bruins about
an hour and a half away from taking the court
against South Carolina for the women's National Championship in basketball.

(00:30):
It would not be UCLA's first, it would be U
Stilla's first NCA eight championship. But back in nineteen seventy eight,
my dear friend Ann Myers. Annie Myers, along with the
great Hall of Fame or Denise Curry, great Hall of
Fame coach Billy Moore, won the women's national Championship under
the banner of AIAW. I have to constantly remind everyone

(00:52):
of this because I refuse to not recognize my dear
friend Annie Myers and all the ladies that put together
that incredible national championship back in nineteen seventy eight. How
are you today, VJ.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I am doing outstand and how else could I be doing?
On Easter Sunday. He has risen, He has risen. Man,
It's a great day. To be alive. It's a great
day to be here on Fox Sports Radio. It's a
great day to be sitting here with my Hall of
Famer co host who is super geeked and excited. He's
trying to keep it all in as his Bruins women's

(01:27):
college basketball team will play in their very first in
c double A national championship game in seek of their
first in CUBLEA women's basketball national championship, as my girl,
don Stanley goes for her fourth in Cuba Women's basketball championship.
But with the Laker news with Major League Baseball, I
was at Dodger Stadium. I wa Washington get their rings

(01:48):
last Friday, we got news Man Raiders signed their backup quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
I called it.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
I told you guys, with the perfect team for Kirk Cousins.
And we'll get into all of that. But me, I'm
doing great man, and I know and if I can't,
just for a quick second, I have her thing here
as you see from last week. Yes, I know, the
great Ambry Spearman. A lot of people that didn't know
my grandmother had passed away last week, only Hartman new
and Scott Shapiro as double up top kind of kept
it to myself, and I was why I was gone

(02:14):
last week. But I know she is looking down, my
new guardian angel looking over me. And this was her
favorite holiday on the calendar. Missus, Ambry Spearman, I love
your grandma.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
And she listened to us. She my mom would put
her on.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
She listened to us. She watched my clips, she watched
our show. She listened to us, man, so she.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Knew who you were.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
And she's gone on to glory now. So I'm doing
great because I know she's looking down on me. She's
on both my shoulders, in my heart and my soul.
As you text me the other night. She is living
in you. The spirit of her is living through you forever.
So I am doing spectackler today, less freaking go.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
She was one of the same year as my mother was.
She nineteen thirty nineteen thirty six. Mom was born September
nineteenth and well, God bless her.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Shout out to Ambry Spearman, Grandma, I missed you. I
love you, by the way.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Shout out to a dear front of mine, an absolute
icon here in Los Angeles television, Gail Anderson, who has
worked at KTLA forever. I don't get to see Gail
very often listen to her.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
She tweets me, oh.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
No, no, she absolutely not. Only I saw her in passing.
She always stops. She does she's like bowing. I'm like, please, Gail,
you know how big. And she just wanted to have
a shout out to you. She goes, I love listening
to you in VJ. And so one of the absolutely
iconic television personality season, absolutely the great Anderson the reach

(03:35):
out to us on our Sunday show, all right, we
got a lot to get to today again, the women's
championship game between South Carolina and UCLA will be tipping
off in about an hour and a half. Also, we'll
get you ready for tomorrow's men's championship game between Yukon
and Michigan. But there was obviously a huge story that
came out this week in the Final four on the

(03:55):
lady's side. And by the way, I have to say
this at the top of the show, and I mean
it as no disrespect, but I have been hounded by
my dear friends at UCLA to not use the term
lady bruins and I and I've been saying this forever.
You know, lady volunteers I mean, we do this, and
certainly not at and even in high school. Then they

(04:18):
are adamant. Right now we are the Bruins or we
are the UCLA women's basketball team. I respect what they
want to be called. That's fine, but I just I'm
not quite sure why that is the case. In fact,
you won't laugh at this. So I'm doing a highlight
the UCLA game. As you know, they're center. Lauren Bett's
All American. She's six foot seven. So I get a

(04:40):
highlight package on television. Sometimes it's it's overwritten, so I
have to edit on the fly as I'm trying to
catch up with a highlight, and she made a spin
mood of the basket and just out of my mouth.
It was not in the script. I just said, the
big girl scores, right, And as soon as I said,
I'm like, I don't know if I should refer to
as the big girl. But it was so funny because

(05:00):
I then then, well we say the big guy all
the time, with the big man, Give it to the
big man, give it to the big guy. I talked
to some people UCLA and they're like they were less
offended by the big Girl. They're like, I wouldn't use
it all the time, but more about this lady Bruins thing,
and I'm like, I don't know what to say. Okay,
so the UCLA Bruins will be taking on South Carolina. Now,

(05:21):
South Carolina shocked the world, not that they beat Yukon,
they just really beat them down. I mean, this was
a Yukon team on a fifty four game winning streak,
undefeated this year, coming off the national championship. All the
word was that Sarah Strong is going to be the
greatest female basketball player of all time. She wasn't. And

(05:42):
so you're watching this game and then the game ends. Okay,
so bad day at the office or gino arima, and
all of a sudden, we go the postgame handshake with
Don Staley and he just jumps on her. The optics
are horrific. The optics are horrific. I mean, I understand

(06:03):
it's coaching coach, but it's a male coach and a
female coach. Call it for what it is. When a
male coach is getting in the face of a female coach,
the optics are horrific. Now, I know this wasn't in
the head of gena Rim. I mean, he is a
man in a woman's sport, and he has been the

(06:23):
most dominant force in terms of career accomplishments in that
sports history. The optics were horrific, and then of course,
you know, Don Staley's not going to back down anyone.
She came right back at him, and then then we
got all kinds of weird stories, none of which seemed
to be true coming out of the mouth that Gina Arima,

(06:44):
that Sarah Strong, we had a jersey rip by one
of the South Carolina players, when in reality it was
on she ripped her own jersey out of frustration. So
you know, he was scrambling yesterday and I'm sure the
university came down on him hard. He would not apologize

(07:05):
directly to Don Staley. He said he had a lot
of respect for the South Carolina women's coaching staff. There's
no excuse, you know, words like that. But I gotta
get your take on this because this is a guy,
because of his record, most championships, More's Final Fours, highest
winning percentage, the whole shebang, that really serves for many

(07:28):
as the face of women's basketball, and for him to
lose it like that over a game he's lost gains
before It's not like the guy's never lost gains before.
He's lost final four games, he's lost championship games. For
him to absolutely lose it like that for the world
to see was a disgrace for him, a disgrace for

(07:48):
his university. I felt so bad for the Yukon girls.
They went through the line, you know, shook the hands
class act that they are. But I have to get
your take on what transpired and if it's reparable. Is
there any coming back from that? If you're Geno Arima.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
There is no coming back from man. And let me
just start here. You talk about optics. We live in
a country where we want to brush away optics when
it comes to certain things. And I was sen to
a lot of radio and watched a lot of tvsterday
just to see if anybody would have the heart and
the soul and you know what to just call this
what this is? Okay, this is number one? Just a

(08:25):
grown ass man child. Gino Rma has always been like this.
Geno rm has always been senses of a jerk. Gino
RM Mama has always been kind of an unclassy, sore,
poor sport loser. Have we forgotten the times he got
into it with Pat Summit. Have we forgotten those times

(08:45):
when you stand over a woman and a man of
a husband, of a father, of daughters and has a
mother and who just watched his grandmother go to glory
to watch a man stand in front of a woman
on national stage and disrespect her and degrade her like that.
Let's go back to the interview with Holly Row between

(09:08):
the third and fourth quarters where you're just straight up
lyon Gino and there's nothing worse on a planet Earth
to me than a liar When I can't believe nothing
that comes out of your mouth. You're off the VJ
vernon Husky books. I want nothing to do with you.
You lied about the jersey. Also, you broke a unwritten
rule among coaches you do not call coaches out, and

(09:30):
the ESPN crew that was on the table did a
great job breaking is down explaining this. You don't call
coaches out in the middle of interviews. And the fact
that he said their coach over there is jumping. She's
all demonstrative, she's going at the revs and she's saying
some names that I can't say on TV.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Are you serious as if.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
You never cuts that a coach as if you never
went off on a coach, and then to paint that
picture for Don Staley who always always has to be
the bigger person. She always has to take the high row.
She can never get upset, she can never be demonstrative,
she can never show any type of emotion. Number one
is because she's a woman, but number two because she's
a black woman coaching in a game where we know

(10:11):
in America everybody is not always happy to see minorities
doing well in winning, especially in sports, unless it's for
your team or your franchise. This thing goes all the
way back. This is nothing new. We've seen this with
coach Moke and LSU, We've seen this with other coaches.
Gino Is, you've been the face of women's college basketball
in might Be for the last thirty years along with

(10:33):
Pat Summon and then a slew of players that Pat
Summit had and the slow of players that he has.
They've run college basketball for women.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
We know this.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
But to take that opportunity to lie like that then
in the post game, to even double down the double down,
we have video proof. Your old player, who in my opinion,
is overrated. I think Lauren Benson, a few other girls
in the country are better than her. I'm not sure
how she won National Player of the Year. Go back
and look at their schedule and tell me who they play.

(11:02):
Thirty seven point eight of a plus was a plus
differential highest fifty four game?

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Who would you play?

Speaker 3 (11:08):
And when you finally ran into somebody that can out
coach you, you got your ass handed to You couldn't
score fifty points.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
First time since twenty nineteen.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
I believe this last time they couldn't score fifty points
and held you under fifty points. And instead of being
an upstanding man, being a real guy, being a model,
and an inspiration to everybody that I'm pretty sure you've
always been to some people, not to me, but to
some people. You took that opportunity to conduct and carry
yourself that way. Then to walk off the court and

(11:39):
not even shake the hands of the coaches.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
Okay, fine, but the players.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
You can't even congratulate these young women who I guarantee
he was trying to recruit. So I guarantee he said
in somebody that freshman South Carolina guy. Yo think Gino
went after her?

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Well, I can tell you this. You talked about recruiting. Look,
if I'm one of the other pre mere coaches in
this country. Of course, you want to play for that guy.
That's where you want to want to play.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
You want to play for that guy.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
And also to I add this, if I were some
of these girls from these young women, because they're not girls,
they're young women. They're not girls. My daughter, Journey is
a girl. My daughter's four years old. We went and
saw the Super Mario Brothers just today. That's a girl.
These are young women. If I were the parents of
some of these young women, I am pulling my daughter
out of that program and putting them in a portal.
I don't want nobody. I don't want to hear always

(12:30):
one time, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, go look
up history, go pull up some YouTube videos. Your generation
loves doing it, but you only want to do it
when it fits your narrative.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
He has done this before.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Yes, I got kind of a soft spot, you know, Steve,
how I feel about don Staley.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
You know that's my girl, and for her to have
to always again be.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
The woman that's gotta take the gotta take the light side,
gotta be the bigger person, have to take the high
I'm so sick and tired of it.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
When is Gino ever taking the high well again? She
was ready to put down and she the auto. She
said to him, I will take you out. I will
beat you. Listen, I'll say I will beat your ass.
That's what she said it twice, all right, So we.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
Said about three or four times, all right.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
So the bottom line here is that Yukon's got a
pr nightmare. And he made the point. He's been there
forty one seasons, He's made twenty five final fours, He's
won more national championships than an he won. What it
is time for him to step down.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Winning isn't always good, Steve. Domination isn't always good because
it gets these guys that think that they can act
any nick sab it coach.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
K I don't name them all day. Hold on. So
I was sitting here with Aaron Torres last week for you,
all right, and he's a Yukon guys, you know, And
I asked him, how did Yukon become the basketball iconic
school men and women? Right? They've just dominated? He said,
was the athletic director. The guy that hired Jim Calhoun
has been at Northeastern for fourteen years. He was a

(14:02):
coach at Northeastern for fourteen years, hires him, and they
hires Gino Rim. But here's the thing. Calhoun won three
national championships at Yukon and then he retired. They've won
three more since then, three more since then. So the
idea that Yukon women would evaporate if Gino Rim has

(14:22):
stepped aside, No, they wouldn't. The culture has already been built.
That is a brand that the top women basketball players
will migrate too. But they won't as long as Gino
Rim is in that seat. He is done, done, done, finished, done.
It is time for him to retire. If you don't retire,

(14:47):
we will fire you and will put in I'm sure
a highly qualified coach to continue the Yukon legacy. Now
the rima legacy, the Yukon he take it.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
Out in the post game. I'm not sure if I
want to coaching. Oh yeah, ironically, now you're not sure
you want You just won the national championship last year.
Why weren't you saying that doing a regular season buddy.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
By the way, Calhoun won the national championship his next
to last season. So again, I think it is time
for Grima to step aside and let somebody else take
over that Yukon program. All right, we got a lot
to catch up on, including Wow the Lakers. You talk
about the single biggest disaster game in Lakers franchise history.

(15:33):
Can't get any worse than what happened the other night
against OKC. Might check on We're gonna break it all down.
This is Fox Sports Sunday.

the show. I'm here to ask you please don't listen
to the show. The hosts are two absolute morons who
have the dumbest takes on sportsmagical. Don't listen to the

Speaker 2 (16:09):
What hit him? Pulleyno fool.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Listen to the Toy Fooths Cup Show on the iHeartRadio
app or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
He's still moving, Harman and Husky. Here Fox Sports Sunday.
We're in the Fox Sports Radio studios a little over
an hour way of tip off the women's National Championship
game between South Carolina and UCLA. Of course tomorrow it'll
be Michigan and Yukon on the men's side. We'll get
to that game a little bit later on in the show.

(16:43):
So the Los Angeles Lakers, you know, I do a
lot of radio of representing the city of LA for
other stations, and they've been asking me really all throughout
the month of March. You know, the Lakers legit. I mean,
they were fifteen and two in the month of March
on a roll. They had a great road trip, and
as much as I really was hesitant, look Luka Doncic

(17:06):
player of the month, Austin reeves back, and Lebron accepting
of his new role with the team and simulating his
game for what was best. So Lakers were doing a
lot of good things and then they had a big task,
right they go to Oklahoma City. All right, let's see
how far the Lakers have come. I have followed Laker
basketball since the day they acquired Wilt Chamberlain, so that's

(17:30):
a long time. I cannot remember a single game there
was such a disaster for the Lakers ever, first they
lost the game by forty three, so they got humiliated
by the thunder on the court, and then Luka Doncic
goes down with an injury and they held their breath

(17:50):
hoping for the best, and it was not the best
out for the last of the regular season. By the way,
We're going to get into that sixty five game rule
also a little bit later on. And then it then
comes out the day after they have to shut down
Luca for the rest of the regular season and most
likely in the first round of the playoffs, that Austin

(18:10):
Reeves is suffered from a bleak injury which is even
more serious, meaning he could be out for the entire season.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
They got six weeks right now, so.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Now and in a blink of an eye, the odds
were crazy how the Lakers went from like, I don't know,
twenty to one to something like one hundred to one
just overnight. And that was before they lost to Austin Reeves.
So I'm looking at this situation right now where an
ideal A little commentary on TV last time in this

(18:41):
so we've been talking about this a lot VJ, where
we've been saying that the new organization ownership the Guggenhein
group Mark Walters. They were going to do a hall
you know, redo of this organization after the season. But
now you have a test for Lebron James. In other words, Okay,

(19:03):
Lebron is you know, showing that he can fit in
at least in the regular season. We were anxious to
see how this was going to play out in the playoffs. Well,
it's not going to play in the playoffs. Now, all
of a sudden, Lebron's got to be the one in
the playoffs. And the question is is he going to
mail it in? Is he going to suddenly be Superman again?

(19:24):
Is that even possible for a forty one year old
Lebron James. I think this is going to be really
a golden opportunity. I always felt all along when people
are saying he'd take the Lakers seriously, I said, look,
they're not in the class with the Thunder or the Spurs,
all right, just eliminate any thought that somehow they could
leapfrog over those teams to get to the NBA Finals.
So maybe they can win a first round series. But

(19:45):
I think this is almost a perfect scenario for this
organization to do the reset because Okay, they're going to
have to evaluate Austin Reeves, who, by the way, played
only fifty one games this year. He missed thirty games
this year. Are you ready to make a huge commitment
in the future for Austin Reeves coming off a season

(20:06):
where he only played fifty one games, And they'll get
a good look now of Lebron, who won't be able
to hide and sort of mix in. He will have
to be the guy in that first round series, whether
it's the Rockets or the Timberwolves, whoever they play in
the first round, to showcase, hey, I still have game left,
or he will be exposed as what I expect him

(20:29):
to be. And that's a forty one year old guy
that has reached the end of the road. So I
think this actually works out for the organization. I never
took him seriously as an NBA championship contender this year anyway,
but now they will almost have it an excuse now
to make the changes they feel necessary to take the
Lakers in the right direction moving forward.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
The Lakers are already going in the right direction. We
already know what's going to happen. I already know what's
gonna happen. Regardless of how this year turned out. Lebron's gone.
Lebron's gone, and they're gonna give Austin rees the free
agent contract. They say they have no fear of losing
him to free agency. He doesn't want to leave. I've
taught to Austin Reeves a bunch of times. I've spoken
to his mother privately on the side. He don't want

(21:13):
to go nowhere.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
So he's gonna take a huge amount less year.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
He's not gonna take it.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
It's not gonna take He'll get about a bucket. Listen,
it'll be it'll be a whole hell of a lot
more than what he's making right now. He's not that guy,
trust me, he's not that guy that's trying to go
get the biggest contract.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
He qualified for a deal that could be like forty
five million a year exactly.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
But the Lakers gonna I think I saw like one
fifty two or something.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
Like that total fail to give them for that.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
Yeah they will, Yeah, they will, Yeah they will. Hold on.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Let me just say my piece. The Lakers are done,
but they were already done. Luca is Luca. Okay, we
already know that Luca's injury prone. We already know that
Luca has lower extremity UH deficiencies. I don't know what
his off season training is. You can lose weight and
that's fine. He looked great this year, right, lost some weight,
got lean, but there's something in his legs he's not

(21:59):
doing because there's always a hamstring or a quad or
a calf. That's in what you're drinking and what you're eating. Okay,
that's just simple. That's how you're taking care of your body.
This whole idea that Lebron James is somehow gonna rescue
this is total be as. He's not gonna rescue nothing.
I don't know if he'll mail it in. I'm not
sure how that's gonna look and go. But Luca's out

(22:21):
for the first round of the playoffs. Guys, they said
four to six weeks. The playoffs start in two weeks,
so he's not in the first round. He's not gonna play.
They're not gonna risk this injury. Now if he goes
out there place and tears it, Okay, that's trouble because
now that's surgery and now you're just setting him back,
saying with Austin Reeves, I don't think this gives them
any type of excuse. I think this ownership group had

(22:43):
already smart business people, already have their plan in play, Steve.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
They don't worry about what's about to.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Happen, and they don't let anything that currently happens disrupt
what the plan was already going to be. Anything that
I've heard and everything that I've heard is they want
to move forward. They want to get Lebron off the books.
If lebronans to come back for about twelve million dollars,
they'll have him back.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
But if Lebron thinks he's gonna get.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Twenty thirty forty fifty sixty million, They're gonna just say, listen,
thank you, we appreciate your service, we appreciate your nine years.
But we're gonna move forward. They're not gonna get caught
up in their feelings. This is not a mom and
pop operation anymore. This is a bona fide National Basketball
Association business.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
This is also too.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
A lot of karma. This is a lot of karma.
Lebron didn't want Luca to have this team. Lebron didn't
want to be the third wheel on this team. That's
a bunch of crap. If you guys believe this stuff
that he's telling you. Guys, just look at his face
and listen to the passive aggressive way that he's saying. Well,
you know, there's a role, and I have to fit
my role. Not I take on this role. I cherish
this role. I welcome this role. No, this is a

(23:48):
role that's kind of appeared, and I have to fit.

Speaker 7 (23:50):
You.

Speaker 3 (23:50):
Watch his watch his body language, watch his face as
he's saying this stuff. He doesn't want this. But now
here you go, Lebron, here, here you go. Now you're
the man.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
Now that I think about it, I believe he is
going to play all out because he wants to proved
to the rest of the league. I still can be
the guy. But he can't. Though, well we don't we
I agree with you. I do know. Well we're gonna
find out because he's going to try. Because the idea
you say, Austin Reese will take a deal for the Lakers,
Lebron will not. He wants to prove to the rest
of the league. I can play. I can still be

(24:22):
the guy. I'm going to show you right now. I
know we know, we know that. But at times in
spurts he has looked dominant. You can't say he has dominant, dominant,
dominant thirty point triple doubles. That's a dominant player.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
No, it's not a dominant player. That's a thirty point
triple double. On any given I still get them. He's
still van dominant player. Look, I'm not the biggest Lebron
fan either. Your hate Sometimes I don't like him. I
don't have a probon.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
I know you don't like it, but he is going
to get an opportunity if he has any gas left
in the tank to show the rest of the league.
I do. All right, let's find out what's trending right now.
Happy Easter to you.

Speaker 8 (25:04):
Happy Easter. I actually forgot about that it was Easter.
I forgot it was a holiday weekend.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
Now, as you know, if you've been listening to Mansi
over the many years she's been here on multitude of platforms,
she's quite the athlete. She loves her volleyball.

Speaker 4 (25:19):
We know that Tuesday nights.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
But here's the thing, once you get past your early
twenty I don't want.

Speaker 8 (25:25):
To talk about this. Don't tell me that.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
Well, I mean, it's just that we see it with
athletes all the time. Right, we have seen athletes extend
their careers. Are just talking about Lebron j forty one
year old. Yeah, still playing at a high level, not
like he.

Speaker 8 (25:39):
Was, but still playing at a damn high level.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
But they have to constantly, you know, work the body.
I mean, I know, I know you do all stretching
everything like that, but you're hurting a little bit.

Speaker 9 (25:49):
Right, I am questionable, questionable to return with a growin
injury just.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Before you go and see a highlight. I'm sorry at
you guys at a high level.

Speaker 8 (25:57):
You guys a twenty one years old?

Speaker 9 (25:58):
Absolutely, I wish I could play like that when I
get to forty. Absolutely, But your hate you you don't
see him the way you should. What he does is
incredible and we're never going to see it again at that.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Age I saw on LA you.

Speaker 8 (26:14):
Think this is he does.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
But even if you play so they're light there, that
eliminates the whole thing.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Still, if you got you, you couldn't go.

Speaker 8 (26:22):
Out there and do that VJ, if you had help
around you. But that's what I'm like.

Speaker 9 (26:26):
I think it's unfair to not say what he's doing
is pretty incredible at his age.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
How did Tom Bray? We know that Tom Bray had
a lot of help, A lot of a lot of help. Yeah,
to play at a high level in the NFL in
smid forties.

Speaker 9 (26:38):
Yeah, No, what he's doing, I don't know. We're ever
going to see it. He's not going to do anything
by himself because he can't. He needs everybody else around him.

Speaker 8 (26:45):
If they don't have.

Speaker 9 (26:45):
Luca, Lakers aren't going to do much at all. So
we'll see what happens there. The women's NCAA National Championship
game between South Carolina and u c LA, not the
Lady Bruins u CLA, that's gonna tip off at three
thirty Eastern time. Last night, the men's NCAA Final four
Michigan Cruise pass Arizona ninety one to seventy three. Wolverine
star Jaxel Lindeborg, he exited the game with an ankle

(27:08):
and knee injury, did come back in, but he's expected
to give it a go for the championship game on
Monday against Yukon. Head coach Destin May did say that
his imaging came back clean. As for Yukon's solo ball,
his status is uncertained forts Marls title game because of
a foot injury that currently has him in a walking boot.

Speaker 8 (27:25):
Today.

Speaker 9 (27:26):
He did talk to media, but he's not practicing in
a walking boot. Good news for Nate Oates, Alabama head
coach has signed a new contract that will make him
one of the five highest paid coaches in college basketball.
When it comes to baseball, a couple of games are
on a rain delay, like the Dodgers in the Nationals,
like the Marlins and the Yankees. As for the Dodgers'
shortstop Mookie Bets is being placed on injured on the

(27:47):
injury list because of a strange right oblique One game
going on right now will several are but with the
score Oriols and the Pirates. Pirates are up six to
zero after three innings. The Red Sox are up on
the Padres four zero, top of the fourth inning. There
Brewers are leading the Royals three zero, bottom of the
second inning about to start. Twins up on the Rays
at home one zero after two innings, and at the

(28:08):
top of the second inning in Chicago, where the White
Sox lead the Blue Jays one zero. Also, Astros have
placed ace Hunter Brown on the fifteen day injured list
with the strain in his pitching shoulder. When it comes
to the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs just around the corner
of the Wild lead the Red Wings right now four
to one.

Speaker 8 (28:24):
It's late in the second period.

Speaker 9 (28:26):
While the Islanders have fired their head coach, Patrick Waw,
not Roy Wah, Patrick.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Wah, Patrick Waugh.

Speaker 8 (28:33):
It looks like Roy.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Let me tell you what it looks like.

Speaker 8 (28:36):
Yes, no, yes, we all learn every day.

Speaker 9 (28:38):
Peter Dubor has been named the new head coach of
the Islanders, which I think a lot of people are
surprised that because the Islanders aren't doing that. Chabby Ludwig
Oberg is in the lead at the Valero Texas Open
at fifteen under par overall, while Michael Kim, Robert McIntyre
and Rio he Stuntstune are one shot back back to
you guys.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Wow, busy day.

Speaker 10 (28:58):
And DeAnda, I'm sure something that's okay.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
You'll catch up on it the next hour. All right,
thank you, Monci. Once again, we're in the Fox Sports
Radio studios. If you miss any of today's show you

Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts,

(29:23):
and you'll find today's full show posted right after we
get off the air. So, the Luka Doncic injury raised
a problem for the NBA that you knew was gonna happen.
You just knew this was going to happen when. And
by the way, the players Union is to blame for
this as well, because they agree to it the sixty
to five game threshold to be considered for any postseason honors,

(29:45):
any awards, all NBA anything. You do not qualify unless
you play at least sixty five games, and Luca played
sixty four. Now his agent is appealing because he missed
two games for the birth of his daughter. He missed
two games to be there for the birth of his daughter.
I would recommend to the NBA that they wave that

(30:08):
rule for him, because the pr on that is not
gonna sit well. All right, So you're penalizing a guy
who missed two games. He had to leave the country
for the birth of his shot, and you're gonna penalize
him for that. It's an absolutely ridiculous rule. I mean,
it was sort of like a way of I don't

(30:30):
know what it was, the load management of whatever it is.
By the way, there's a possibility if wenby Got gets hurt,
he has to play the rest of his games, then
Dancic has to play the rest of his games to qualify.
If any one of them stumbles or anything else, they'll
be out of the vote. Will make the entire postseason
award show an absolute mockery. So I hope that one

(30:50):
thing positive that's going to come out of this Luca
injury is that they wave the sixty five game rule.
Look at if you want to vote, he got people voting.
They can penalize somebody if they think they're dogging it. Fine,
I'm not gonna vote for the guy. But if you
have a legitimate injury and you miss more than seventeen games,
why are you panalizing them? And I know that there's

(31:11):
contractual money tied to these awards. In fact, the big
thing is, you know VJ is the All NBA team
actually will determine the level of free agent money that
you can actually attain. So you go to that super level,
right if you get a certain you know, acknowledgment accolades

(31:32):
for the NBA. So I'm hoping they will change that rule.
The rule is the rule.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
It is what it is, and the players, you know,
the Players Association, agree to it in this new CBA.
This CBA doesn't run out to twenty eight twenty nine,
so excuse me to twenty nine to thirty season.

Speaker 4 (31:46):
So it's not they're not they can't. They're not.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
They can't. They're not gonna wave it for missing two
day games for the birth of your daughter. Oh yeah,
I believe you kind of.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
I didn't say I agree with it, Steve, But they're
just not. Your question is.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
This, Let's say your salary in some way was tied
to how many days you show up on the air,
and then you have the birth of your daughter or
the death of your grandmother, and you want to be
there for the funeral, and you're telling me I don't
get a waiver for that. No, then I'm gonna lose,
you know, if it's not money because of that.

Speaker 3 (32:14):
They could have put that in the contract. They should
have thought about that before. I don't feel sorry for them.
I'm not gonna feel sorry for them because this is
this is they're all. This is all their fault. By
the way they do they do have one rule that
people didn't talk about.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
There is a rule where you could actually come in
and play fifteen minutes, right and Canada as a game.
So you want to put some you know, not stand
there for fifteen minutes all blowout.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
No, you're not going to do that. That's just that's
that's just silly.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
But that's that's a rule. You could do that.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Yeah, but they gonna But would okay, would you I
don't know, no, would you well, if I if you
were to get ready, would you do it?

Speaker 2 (32:48):
Yes or no? If the difference is hundreds of millions
of dollars, yes I would do it.

Speaker 4 (32:51):
But the difference is not hundreds of millions of dollars.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Well, I mean, the fact is is that, yes, making
the All NBA team does have a determining but on
the side of contracts available.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
I know, but not hundreds of millions of dollars though,
that's the thing. You say, hundreds of millions, all right, millions,
tens of millions.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
Yet but this is all.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
Their own fault. Why are we trying to go back?

Speaker 3 (33:08):
They all could have fixed this instead of being lazy asses,
instead of not playing hard, instead of load management, instead
of doing this stuff, instead of Adam Silver being a
player's prayers frienly commissioner and not being what David Stern was.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
This is all their fault.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
This ain't just Adam Silver fault the players that this
is everybody's fault.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
You all have done this to yourself.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
So I'm not gonna be the radio guy to sit
here and feel sorry for you. Because Tay Cunningham's my guy.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
Is he gonna make? Is he first team of one game?
Is he first team on there? He should be? But
you can't help the guy gotta collapse lung. It is
what it is.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
We can't change the rules because of circumstances that happened.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
You should have thought about this. You can't change the
rule now, but you can change it after the season
and eliminate it. Eliminated when you could go both sides
agree to eliminate it, doesn't matter a collective bargain agreement.
They can eliminate it immediately. They're not going to though.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
They're not going to because if you eliminate it, you
make the problem worse because now guys will low manage
even more and think, well, all I gotta do is
play fifty games and I'm still eligible for postseason awards.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
I can miss thirty two games and still be There's
a difference between sitting games out voluntarily and being legitimately hurt.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
Okay, but what happens to Okay? So two games he missed,
what about all the other games he's missed? That's the problem.
We can't just look at these two?

Speaker 2 (34:31):
Okay? Right? You know what?

Speaker 4 (34:32):
Fine, don't be such a hard ass Vjy.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
What you talk about it about Kate kennyam as a
collapse lung? Is that legitimate?

Speaker 3 (34:39):
It is legitimate. But you can't help. I mean you can't.
It is what it is. It just is what it is.
It sucks, but it is what it is. Life ain't fair.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
By the way, do you think that what Jokic did
yesterday to Wimby and winning an overtime and putting at
the numbers he did should clinch a guy who's making
history this year, will be the first player in NBA
history to lead the league in rebounding and assistance the
same year, plus the fact that he's outscoring Wimby. Should
that be the fourth MVP Award for Yokich? Although I

(35:06):
saw a strupple, do you see the stroup pole? Shane
run away and then run like it's not even close,
Like he gets eighty eight out of one hundred votes.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
I told you, I told you months ago. They have
voter Voter fatigue is a real thing. You've been doing
this business a long time. You know I'm telling the truth, Steve.
Voter fatigue is a real thing. They don't want to
keep giving it to Yokic, so they're gonna find somebody.
Shane's gonna win it this year, Jokic. I'll be honest
with you. I think Shay should win it this year.
His team has the best wreckord in the league, and
he's outperforming a lot of play. He's actually having a

(35:40):
better season this year than he did last year. I
know people don't like his game, and I think he's overrated.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
I do.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
I think he's overrated, But I don't vote. I'm not
the guy that votes. The people that vote are gonna
do it by the standard they've been doing it by.
SGA is gonna win his second straight MVP.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
Market down all right, Coming up, we are gonna talk
a little bit more about this women's championship game. South Carolina, UCLA.
Where is the women's game and the Basketball Hall of
fame rears its ugly head once again. We'll explain. This
is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Fox Sports Sunday, Harbin and Husky with you in the
Fox Sports Radio studios. The Naysmith Basketball Hall of Fame say,
it is just the worst. I mean, okay, so think
about this for a moment. If you're if you're the NBA,

(36:43):
the NBA is the highest level of basketball in the world.
There's no argument. Okay, the NBA is the highest level
of basketball in the world. And they don't have a
Hall of Fame. They have to share a Hall of Fame. Now,

(37:05):
this is no disrespect to the ladies, but when you
have a Hall of Fame class that includes three women
players and one men's player, plus you're honoring the nineteen
ninety six US women's team as a whole. Have Cannis Parker,

(37:28):
you have Dele Don, you have Holz Klaw and the
nineteen ninety six US Women's Dream Team, which was credited
for essentially creating the WNBA. And then you have one
men's player, Amari Stodomar. One. Three coaches, well, you have

(37:52):
what coach? You have? Two you have Doc Rivers bya Mac.
D'Antoni was not honored as a coach. He was honored
as a control tributor. But we wi and by the way,
you know why he was honored. You know how Mike
D'Antoni was honored because of his relationship with Jerry Colangelo,
who runs.

Speaker 4 (38:10):
The Hall of Fame, the Hall of Fame also Twitter
time together.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
They never released any names of the soul called Honors Committee.
The votes. I told you forget the Naatesmith Hall of Fames.
The Colangel Hall of Fame thing is a farce.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
Paul Pierce once told me that at a Laker game,
like straight up he won. He said it as bloody
as he could. I was standing there with him a TJ.
Who's Masada. He's like, well, you know you got to
go through Colangelo to get in.

Speaker 2 (38:32):
Colangelo said one vote.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Walter Davis, North Carolina legend, had a couple of good
years early in his current Phoenix, had injuries, he passed away,
and the next thing you know, he's in the Hall
of Fame. Yeah, how's Marcus Johnson on the Hall of Fame?
How did he get bypassed again? But the funny thing
is there is one Son who's been bypassed many times,
Kevin Johnson.

Speaker 4 (38:55):
Right, Hou's kJ not in Hall of Fame?

Speaker 2 (38:57):
Why is he on the Hall of Fame? How's a
Mario Stadlemyre in the Hall Hall of Fame? Amari Statamyre's
in the Hall of Fame? Amari Statamire? Like let that
sink in, ladies and gentlemen, Amary stodamar Oh, he played
for the Phoenix.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Side, right, But Mike, but let that sink in. I
let that sink in, like Amari Stadlemire. I put him
in the same class of like a Blake Griffin type
of guy.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
Yeah, did you get in by the way?

Speaker 3 (39:18):
Right?

Speaker 2 (39:18):
But I mean, is Blake Griffin a Hall of Famer? Again?
You know what I've said about halls of Fame over again?
Halls of Fame should be for the absolute elite, elite elite.
How is Doc Rivers not the hall of for the
very good? It's the hall of the absolute best, the pinnacle.
How is Doc Rivers in the Hall of Fame? I
have no one championship on a year and listen of this,

(39:42):
not only one championship, He's only reached the conference finals three.

Speaker 4 (39:47):
Times, but just better more than that?

Speaker 3 (39:49):
If you go back to Boston, A lot of people
glaze this over, but I never do if not for
Kevin McHale. If not for Kevin McHale, we never get
that Boston team. If you go back and look at
their record his first three years there, before the big
trade and they get the moves and get the big
ticket and they get Jesus shuttles Worth, it's going backwards.

(40:12):
They went from forty one to thirty four to twenty
three wins. It's going backwards, guys.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
It wasn't saving upward. Doc was asked about his best
year of coaching. It was his first year in Orlando.
He got coaching here. He got a team of nobody's
to five hundred. That was his pinnacle. Wait, he even
admitted it and didn't have Grant Hill because Grant Hill,
I'm sorry, ankle stuff. So mark him team at Mark
Feuguet in the Hall of Fame. You remember the National Championship.

(40:39):
Consider to convince me what they never want to.

Speaker 4 (40:41):
Trying to convince me about him weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
All right, we get ready for a Women's championship game
this since Fox Sports Sunday, don't listening to Fox Sports
Radio running along on this a championship a Sunday here,
Fox Sports Sunday. We're in the Fox Sports radio studios
for about a half an hour away from tip off
for the women's National Championship between South Carolina and UCLA,

(41:05):
and of course tomorrow the Men's Championship between Yukon and Michigan.
Quick note on that game. If you're gonna go on history,
if you're placing a wager on that game, keep in
mind this in championship games, Yukon is six and oh
in championship games. Michigan is one in six. No, I mean,

(41:28):
I don't know if you can ignore that six and
oh versus one in six in championship games. So just
keep that in mind. I know, Michigan first team ever
to score at least ninety points in five tournament games
in the same year. But Yukon just finds ways of
winning their games. So that'll be tomorrow. But we get
ready right now for South Carolina and UCLA. So the

(41:49):
final four on the women's side, And look, I'm not
going to pretend like I'm watching women's basketball at all. Okay,
I appreciate that, but you know, with my school UCLA there,
you know I'm definitely following the Bruins as they hopefully
go on to win a national championship. So you had
the exact same four schools you had last year in

(42:12):
the final four, all four number one seeds. Not only
were they the four number one seeds, I think combined
they had won their tournament games by more than twenty
eight points a game. I mean, these were so far
and away the four best teams in the country. So
I'm excited to see, Okay, Ucla versus Texas, Yukon versus

(42:32):
South Carolina, And what I watched was by any measure,
sub level basketball at any level. Ucla beat Texas and
had twenty three turnovers in the game. Texas has an
All American that was three for twenty three shooting. And

(42:57):
so I keep hearing about the rise of women's basketball,
which got a lot of you know, with Caitlin Clark, everyone,
the eyeballs were on it, you know, for a couple
of years there. And I'm watching these two games and
I'm just seeing bad shots. I'm not seeing a rising
of the level that I keep hearing about on the

(43:19):
women's side. I'm sorry. Am I rooting for Ucla. I
am rooting with every fiber in my body. For the
UCLA Bruins to win a national championship today, I will
be rooting hard. It's gonna be hard for me to
watch the game as we're doing the rest of the show.
But don't sell me on this idea that the women

(43:41):
have elevated their game next level, that Sarah Strong is
like the girl I saw Cheryl Miller play at USC
and that was forty years ago. She's a better player,
not even close than a Sarah Strong, not even.

Speaker 1 (44:02):
So.

Speaker 2 (44:03):
I don't know where we're going with this. You know,
the WNBA screaming about getting paid again. You get paid
if they're eyeballs, if people are paying money, if they're
just going out of their way to watch. But what
I saw, which should have been four elite programs all
back in the Final four for a second consecutive year,

(44:23):
four number one seeds winning their games by an average
of twenty eight points a game collectively, And what I
saw was, just like I said, subpar basketball at any level,
men or women. I don't know. I mean, maybe I'm
just being harsh, but it's reality. I'm gonna call it
like it is. I'm not worried about the ramifications okay,

(44:44):
and I know there's probably listening right now UCLA people
screaming at me. Was that a good game the other day?
They look good to you against Texas, they didn't. If
they play like that today against South Carolina, they're gonna
get blown out. So I'm sorry. I just ha the
idea of the rise of women's basketball. I didn't see
it with four teams that came in with incredible hype

(45:07):
into this year's women's Final four.

Speaker 3 (45:09):
I tried to tell you guys this, though no one
wanted to listen to me. I tried to tell you
guys this last year and the year before that. The
whole Caitlyn Clark and Angel Rees thing was a media
made a good guy versus bad guy storyline, and you.

Speaker 4 (45:20):
Guys all balled into it. And everybody told me I
was hating.

Speaker 3 (45:22):
Everybody told me this is gonna chase the game, and
everybody told me they watched basketball. No, no, you don't, No,
you don't. I said it then, and I'm gonna say
it again. Stop lying to yourselves. None of you were
gonna stick with this. None of you people listening right
now that were those people. Oh I watched women's baskets
know you don't. You watch for the storyline. You watched
to hate on one girl and cheer on the other,

(45:44):
and now that that's gone, there is no good girlfriend
who Most people can't even name you five women that
played college basketball currently right now, but claim that they
love this sport and they watch it. No, we don't
as America, not me personally, not the Hall of Famer
until I left, not Monty, not Shae, not Chris, not us.

(46:06):
I'm talking about America, we don't. We just don't care
about it. Unless there's some juiciness or a villain versus
a good guy, joker versus Batman, Luke Skywalker versus Darth Vader.
Unless we have that, we're not gonna pay attention. Now,
I'm with you. I watched both games the other night,

(46:26):
every minute of it. My wife and I sat down
to the kids watched the games. It was a hard watch.
Both were hard white. The Yukon game was more pleasurable
because Don Stanley was the only She's the only team
that actually played well. They locked up the National Player
of the Year. She had eleven points. She didn't score
in the second or the third quarters. She scoring the first,
scoring the fifth, the first and the fourth. But I

(46:48):
don't know if there was ever a rise, But I
tried to. I tried to warn all the sports fans
out here. Guys stopped saying, you're into this and you're
gonna watch this now, and then you're not. If they
moved this season and thensted some things, different story, if
we could create a storyline good versus bad, different story.
What we do have, though, are a bunch of great

(47:10):
young women players. Though lord, hey man, this bets girl
hey six seven. Guess what she's gonna do. She's gonna
go into the w NBA. She's gonna carry a team
to the playoffs in the w NBA. If there's one
thing she will be able to do immediately when she
gets to the next level is defend. She didn't have
to warm up. I said the same thing about Wimby
when Wimby was coming out of France VJ.

Speaker 2 (47:29):
Can he beat this?

Speaker 4 (47:29):
Could he be that?

Speaker 3 (47:30):
I said, you know, the one thing he's gonna be
able to do right away is defend. You can't teach length,
you can't teach size, you can't teach defense. And blocking shots. Ceball,
go block ball. That block she had the other night
saved the game.

Speaker 2 (47:42):
That was that was saved the gay of the game
late obviously Texas was trying to rally late and she
came up with a big block. She also was the
offensive force at the end of the game. It was
I mean, you see always playing so badly. Corey Close
was very honest about her team. I mean, you know,
twenty three turnoffs, it was ridiculous. Feed the big girl,
get the ball inside. Yep, she's six foot seven. They're

(48:05):
not gonna be able to stop her. And that was
what held on for UCL. But if they play like that,
they have no chance against a South Carolina team that's
going to be extremely well prepared by Don Staley. This
is their sixth straight Final four, this is their fourth
championship game. They've never lost a champion Well, I'm sorry
they lost last year's championship game, by the way. Yeah,

(48:25):
well they didn't just lose last year. They got whoop.

Speaker 3 (48:27):
Last year they got jumped on early. But this South Carolina,
let's think with this game because if you go to
the South Carolina team, mkiir the transferred student Ocott like,
they have some girls. They have Tessa, they got some ballers,
Tessa Johnson, they got some scrappy girls. If they thought
that Texas's guards defended then on perimeter, Wait till Tessa
Johnson gets up in your jersey today they're going to play.

(48:50):
They take on the identity of their coach. That's what's
so dangerous about this team. Don Stanley, Ladisy, gentlemen, listen,
man news Alert, Sports news Alert. He went to her
fourth today. She now runs women's college basketball. She gets
her fourth champion. Was that fourth and sixth? Sixth and
fourth and seven. It's her show. And you got to
run through them. Now, it goes through them unless you

(49:12):
had a year and and Yukon had a year last year.
But other than that, it's been South Carolina, South Carolina,
South Carolina.

Speaker 4 (49:18):
And I agree with you they turned the ball over.

Speaker 2 (49:20):
I can't. But the thing about it is, and you
said advantage, is they are a senior dominated team, so
much so that all the points they scored against Texas
were by seniors. So basically it's an all senior class.
And so this is a this is a senior class
led by Lauren Betts and Kicky Rice. I mean, they're
all Americans, so they have been together obviously. You know,

(49:42):
Lauren Betts was a transfer from Stanford. They're all transfer
It's like the same on the men's side, right, But
the bottom line is is that you have these women
seniors and they have to play like it. They were
shaky against Texas, we saw what happened a year ago,
and they're complete meltdown against Yukon in the Semis. They're
gonna have to play perfectly today. So again I'm hoping, hoping,

(50:04):
because we will be watching this game shortly, that we
just see a better level of basketball. I just was.
I was stunned, I really was. I thought we were
just going to see basketball at a much higher level
than we saw. And when people talk about the depth
of the women's game, how much depth is there if
you have the same four teams in the final four
back to back years, how much depth do you have

(50:25):
on the women's side if those four teams have won
their tournament games by an average or twenty eight points
a game. So, I mean, it just it is what
it is. I mean, there are some individual great players
on the ladies side, but aside from that, it's just
it's a little frustrating to hear the narrative that you
are almost forced to buy into when your eyeballs are

(50:46):
telling you something else.

Speaker 4 (50:47):
You don't have to be forced though. That's the thing.

Speaker 3 (50:49):
You have good minded people like myself, who has a
mouth on them. We will say a lot of things
a lot of people won't say. And went and say
about the women's game. I'm like you sometimes I don't
care about the backlass because I'm not picky. I would
like I watched I don't watch like like I watched
the NBA. But I do watch South Carolina this year.
I did watch Yukon this year. I did watch Texas

(51:09):
when Texas came out of nowhere, and when Texas was
undefeated going, I said, okay, let me check this squad out.
Who they got over there. I don't know a lot
of these girls, but let me, oh, there's a Texas game.
Let me check this out.

Speaker 2 (51:18):
Just see. You see these teams.

Speaker 3 (51:19):
So when you get to the term, you get to
the final four, you know most of the players, you
know the coaches, but then you see the product on
the court and it's like, man, this is just a baggage.
The way Texas actually just came out the other night,
Ucla let him back in the game, but they.

Speaker 2 (51:32):
Had such a lead. You never thought Texas.

Speaker 3 (51:35):
Was gonna win that game. You thought Yukon was gonna
climb back in. Yukon falls down nine, they hit excuse
me ten, They hit three straight threes and pull within one,
and it's like, oh man, okay, here here comes Yukon,
Here comes the girls. But then South Carolina and play
some defense. They strap up on the defense, quarter, got
some got some stills, got fast break layups. I'll tell

(51:55):
you this, it's what it's nice to watch. Some of
these ladies have a fast breaks, not blowle. I can
appreciate that. It's a layup. You gotta make the layup.
The young lady from Yukon miss it and then starts
busting out into tears. Her team immediately goes to her,
has got to pick her chin up, like yeah, that
that that game was over at that point.

Speaker 4 (52:11):
But there I don't think there was ever an upswing.

Speaker 3 (52:15):
I thought we had bought into a story in a
narrative that wasn't gonna be sustainable and it wasn't gonna last.
Caitlyn Clark's been hurt twice in her in her professional career.
She didn't even finish last year. No one's even talking
about our only time you see her now is the
State Farm commercials, which are very talented area.

Speaker 2 (52:31):
It's gonna be seen because I agree that that ship
is sailed. I mean, no one's talking about Caitlyn Clark.
And by the way, statistically, even before she got hurt,
she was the worst three point shooter in the league
and let.

Speaker 4 (52:41):
The league turnover.

Speaker 2 (52:42):
And that's her. She was just playing.

Speaker 3 (52:44):
USA just had some type of team that was just playing.
She was just playing, guys.

Speaker 2 (52:47):
I don't hear.

Speaker 3 (52:48):
I've heard no one on sports talk radio even mentioned
that Caitlyn Clark in team USA was just in a
little tournament.

Speaker 2 (52:55):
Was just they were just playing. No one talked about it.
That ship of saled. So back to ground zero, I
guess all right. Coming up on the other side, there
is a men's championship game tomorrow between Michigan and Yukon,
and once again the focus is on one Dan Hurley.
What impact has he had on the game of college basketball?

(53:18):
And is he as good as he thinks he is.
We'll break it down. This is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (53:25):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (53:28):
Steve Harbin VJ. Husky with you here Fox Sports Sunday.
In the Fox sports radio studios. All right, we're about
fifteen minutes, less than fifteen minutes away from tip off
of the women's championship game between South Carolina and UCLA Tomorrow.
It will be the men's turn, Yukon taking on Michigan,

(53:48):
and some of the Yukon numbers are mind boggling. So
in their history in final four games, they're thirteen and one.
Their lone loss was a semi final loss Jim Calhoun
lost to Tom Izzo back in two thousand and nine.
They are six and zeroe championship games. How about this stat?
They have won nineteen straight tournament games Sweet sixteen on.

(54:14):
So I remember last year they got a lemonade in
the second round, but sweet sixteen games on, they've won
nineteen consecutive games, Dan Hurley, and we didn't even talk
about it. I mean the incredible win they had. Obviously
I didn't have a chance against Duke. I mean what

(54:34):
I mean, dude, again, how is John Sharing not fired?
That's back at back years fire? Yeah, I do get
rid of them, get somebody else in there. That's not
his fall. Yeah it is, no, it wasn't. Yeah, because
you need to tell your players what to do. He
had a timeout, Ronny, not have a timeout? Text this
to you. You're apreciated.

Speaker 3 (54:54):
Fire.

Speaker 2 (54:54):
Did he not have a timeout? You have ten seconds
left right tall at time. First of all, they were
having a hard time inbounding the ball throughout the late game.
So let's let's get things settled down. Let's be clear
on this. We don't have to get the ball in
the front court. Let's get the ball in the hands
of our best free throw shooter. They're gonna foul and
then knock down your free throws and let's move off.

Speaker 3 (55:13):
So we just gonna let Cameron Boozer off the hook,
mister overrated, miss the overrated, miss, the no bag.

Speaker 2 (55:20):
Mister.

Speaker 3 (55:20):
That's the worst National Player award I've ever seen.

Speaker 2 (55:23):
Well, okay, the guy averaged twenty two to ten. He
got that award on the numbers, he was the only
one in the top twelve of the nation of both.
But he's not the guy I want to shoot free throws.
His brother is. And yet his brother goes BRAINDWB. Why
is that? I don't know. Why was he thinking he
had to throw the ball into the front court instead
of just hold the ball as he sees two Yukon
guys running at him to foul him desperately to stop

(55:46):
the clock, and he throws the ball up into their
hands and they lose the game. That is a poor
league coach team.

Speaker 3 (55:52):
And let me just tell you if I can't really
fast on this fire coach thing, because because Greenberg and
BILLI says some really really good yesterday, I watched College
game day yesday to all three hours.

Speaker 2 (56:03):
It was this is really good at what they said.

Speaker 3 (56:04):
Okay, so Greenberg weamer coach right right right, this fire
coach thing, no, no, no, what about him being a former coach,
It just made it made a lot of sense what
I said about the NFL as far as coaching goes.
The new way we're seeing the teams are in panic mode.
We're so quick to fire everybody nowadays, like it doesn't

(56:24):
matter what sport it is.

Speaker 4 (56:26):
Monty just did an update.

Speaker 3 (56:27):
The Islanders just fired Patrick Rawle and they were doing okay.
The Kings just fired their coach this year that they
they just fired their other coach a year and a
half ago and hired this guy after bringing them up
and getting them to the playoffs, albeit they losing five
to the Edmonton Oilers. But who's being the Edmonton Oilers,
other than the team that meets him in the Western
Conference Finals or the Stanley Couple. Over the last three years,

(56:49):
not a lot of teams doing that. The point I'm
making is this, Carolina just did this. They just fired
Hubert Davis.

Speaker 2 (56:55):
Yeah they do, okay, and it was all for rip
and coaching job, and now he can't they can't replace them.
Well that no, no, I agree with you. Where you're going.

Speaker 3 (57:06):
They can't replace them. You know why, because it's not
so easy to pluck coaches from their current job anymore.
And like I said, they both made a good point yesterday.
With nil really now in place and it's not going anywhere,
it's here, you can't be too quick to fire your

(57:28):
coach or let your coach get out the door, because
those guys that you're playing, those NIL players you're playing,
they will then no alternate lead because they signed for
the coach.

Speaker 2 (57:37):
Well then you're then okay, Well then you're only bring
up The point is, what's the point of a coach? No,
there's no no, no, no, no, no, no, no no no.
What is the point of a coach?

Speaker 4 (57:46):
The coach the team?

Speaker 2 (57:47):
Okay, you you have one status of coach. Wins and losses.
That's the only guy. Are no other stats, right? How
many wins? How many losses? That's your stat right. Okay,
So if you're one of the elite programs and men's
college basketball, North Carolina, Due, Kansas, Kentucky, the elite elite
where these schools are totally identified by their basketball programs,

(58:08):
and you're not in the conversation to win national championships,
bring somebody that will bring it in. Now you go
back to North Carolina. Remember as soon as they fired
Uh yeah.

Speaker 3 (58:20):
So once one, twenty five and fifty four in four
years gets you fired.

Speaker 2 (58:25):
Forget that because you just said one offs records the years,
zero national championships.

Speaker 3 (58:31):
Okay, zero, kays, So they fire everybody it hasn't won
one s zero.

Speaker 2 (58:34):
That doesn't make sense. That doesn't make sense. It doesn't
make sense. But it doesn't North Carolina sense. That's North Carolina.
The guy that he replaced, Roy Williams, won three national championships.

Speaker 4 (58:46):
Okay, how long did it take Roy win one?

Speaker 2 (58:48):
And by the way, they fired the guy before Roy Williams,
Matt Doherty. He was National Coach of the Year one year.

Speaker 3 (58:54):
Yeah, but he was terrible Okay, he also had a
hold up, hold up, stop. Yeah, listen, I'm connected to
the program, so I know exactly what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2 (59:01):
Yeah, an eight and twenty years he rubbed everybody wrong.
And then Van Dean Smith from practices, Okay, you deserve
to get your ass fight. Well, you know what, they
fired him and they brought in a guy they won championships.
Hubert Davis was not winning championships. We need to find
a guy. But they overestimated their ability to get that coach.
Plus with all the money they tied up insanely into
Bill Belichick on the football side, the idea of these

(59:23):
buyouts on these contracts is not feasible and it's not
even worth it. Look how many coaches really make a difference.

Speaker 3 (59:31):
A lot of them, a lot of us in college basketball.

Speaker 2 (59:35):
We've talked about this.

Speaker 3 (59:35):
When there's not a difference maker on the floor in
college basketball, the next thing you need to do is
move your eyes to the.

Speaker 2 (59:45):
Jame has That's gonna be the difference. The game has
changed because of the transfer portal and the nil but
Lange what I'm saying, Steve, you know, you know the
most important people running these basketball programs now is the
general managers. Schools have no managers now they need general
managers who still have to. These are professionals.

Speaker 3 (01:00:04):
Still have to.

Speaker 4 (01:00:06):
I'm sorry, I know we're not going to.

Speaker 2 (01:00:07):
How many that's give me coaches that really, honestly are
the difference between winning and losing games? Tom Tom tom
Izzo is a guy. All right, there's one I think also.

Speaker 4 (01:00:16):
I can't stand them. I can't stand them, but I think, Hurley.

Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
Do you think ten percent of the coaches is Patino
Calipari self? Those guys, Okay, they're different. Those guys are different.
They're difference maker. Type of their difference made Michigan. No,
but I'll give you a guy. And and by the way,
he got rewarded a contract Natos Natos at Alabama. See

(01:00:41):
getting in the NCAA tournament. I don't count that. But
he has not only made the tournament six straight years,
they've been to at least the Sweet sixteen to five
of those six years. And that's when I look at him, like,
all right, NATO's Frank Horrbork, Well, he's a one year
winner in Nebraska. Can he sustain it year? You can't
call him a one year one er until three or
four years. You never want to hurt him in game
until this year.

Speaker 4 (01:01:01):
So that's not a one year wonder. That's him changing
the post.

Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
A guy Dusty may look at what he did in Florida.

Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
There's another one, Mark Hugh. And I'm not a big
Mark fe guy. I'm not a big Mark Few guy.
But Mark Fuel's the difference maker at Gonzaga. But he's
the difference Okay, Okay, So you hadn't had a Morrison.

Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
I asked you ten percent. You're even named more more
than that man. It's more, Yes, more coaches more with
the millions of millions of millions of dollars, they're being picked.

Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
Yes, they are because of the revenue that they bring in,
the revenue that the schools are making, the people that
are watching the games.

Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
But the point I want to make before we get
the monk to the update is this thing to fire
these guys so fast. We gotta come off of this. Carolina, listen,
Carolina made him. They made a horrific mistake in this,
did they Yes, they have Tom you. You cannot fire
coach in five years. That's one, twenty five and fifty
four has Bence on a final four in Bence a
national Championship game. You just can't because now, but that

(01:01:57):
was the first stuck. It doesn't matter what year it was.

Speaker 2 (01:01:59):
You're that was Roy Williams left over. You're now stuck.

Speaker 3 (01:02:02):
Okay, say nothing about everybody didn I don't mind you
saying that, Steve, But just station.

Speaker 2 (01:02:07):
Having with Tunis Smith at Kentucky when he took over
for Patino, and he won the National Championship his first
year at Kentucky. So then why couldn't Potino go back to.

Speaker 3 (01:02:14):
A champions could but why didn't Patino win with that
crew Di and Patino was so great?

Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
He did? He won in ninety six, He won ninety six.
That's the championship game in Arizona ninety seven, left all right,
and then went back to the NBA with the Celtics. Right,
they brought in Tubby Smith's first year he won again. Right,
so Tubby went with the ninety seventeen that he couldn't
win with. He couldn't win with loss and overtime, marz
and in the champions and matter he won in ninety six,

(01:02:38):
it does not matter. He couldn't get it done. He
looks did it.

Speaker 3 (01:02:42):
You just said this wins and losses, and I bring
up a fact that a man lost.

Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
Why are you suddenly tied into Hubert Davis after winning
the national state, after going to the championship. What did
they done?

Speaker 3 (01:02:54):
You want to fire every hockey Listen? I can't stand dude, listen,
fire John Shire would do? What for Duke?

Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
Right now? Well? Not to give you a chance to
get back on track is wire does not impress me
at all.

Speaker 3 (01:03:08):
You are going to hire us a game coach? One
of these other coaches want to take these blue blood jobs. Now,
think about that. Any of those guys could have left.
Those four guys that Carolina were talking to. Any of
those guys a program, you know what, a bigger program.

Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
They walk money, money comes up with it. All right,
let's find out what's trending right now.

Speaker 4 (01:03:26):
Stop firing these coaches fast, people.

Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
It's not good. Sorry, it's not I'm getting ready for
a basketball My thing is this.

Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
It's Carolina, right, a blue blood, historic blue blood, and
they can't get a guy because these other schools are
now saying, okay, no, no, no, Carolina's calling you here. How
about the Arizona State guy? What did they do? Give
them a big stick. We'll give you more money to stay.
That's what teams are gonna do now.

Speaker 9 (01:03:53):
It's yeah, I just feel like if you can't build
something like give me a minute, give me a chance.

Speaker 2 (01:03:59):
I don't know. Fifty four. It wasn't just the way.
It wasn't just losing. It was how they lost this year?
Did they okay, Duke this year?

Speaker 1 (01:04:09):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
Okay?

Speaker 8 (01:04:10):
Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. It was like,
who else are you going to get? Like I don't, yeah,
I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:04:14):
We'll see who North Carolina gets when it's all said
and done, when Billy Donovan, when the NBA season ends
and Billy Donovan leads the Chicago Bulls comes to North
Carolina and you get a Hall of Fame coach with
two national championships on his but he's not there yet.
Tar Heel fans are going to be upset, but he's
not there yet. No, because the NBA season is still
going on.

Speaker 9 (01:04:34):
I did wonder if Davis k if it was a
mutual separation, then he also was kind of like.

Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
Why would he want to leave? No, because of.

Speaker 8 (01:04:44):
The situation that is college.

Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
Baball nor a legacy.

Speaker 8 (01:04:49):
I was just down there nearly, but they don't respect
him enough.

Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
Well, no, I was just down there in North Carolina.
It was panic. It was it was panic, and it
was pressure from the rest of the world. But do
we not remember Caleb Wilson being hurt and missing, Oh
who probably could bet a number one overall pick and
the guy was out And you're gonna fire the coach
because we lost without our best guy a nineteen points.

Speaker 9 (01:05:12):
I would understand that, But it's like, how are we
not blaming the players. There's times where like the coaches
get blamed and it's like, well, no, the players just
didn't do their jobs.

Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
I watched the game. The players play like craft. Anyway,
here's a dirty little secret about the NIL. So you
talk about the fact that you have to re recruit
your players every single year, right, you got to give
bits guys to stay. Are you also telling guys to leave? Yeah,
believe me, there are more players being told to leave
than are to stay. That's a fact.

Speaker 9 (01:05:42):
Fact that the women's NCAA Championship game is about to
tip off between the two to one seed South Carolina
and UCLA. That's about to start tomorrow Monday will be
the men's NCAA Championship between Michigan and Yukon Wolverine star
exl Lindenborg, who suffered an ankle and knee injury during
the Final four, is expected to give it a go

(01:06:03):
for the championship game on Monday. As for Yukon Solo Ball,
his status is uncertain fort tomorrow's title game because of
a foot injury that currently has him in a walking boot.

Speaker 8 (01:06:11):
It's not that he's out, but he's currently in a
walking boot.

Speaker 9 (01:06:14):
Alabama coach Nate Oates assigned a new contract that will
make him one of the one of the top five
highest paid coaches in college basketball. When it comes to
the NHW, we got some games going on while then
Red Wings are tied at four with less than two.

Speaker 8 (01:06:26):
Minutes to go in the third period.

Speaker 9 (01:06:28):
Late in the first period where the Penguins are up
on the Panthers one a zero, Yeah, Islanders coach Patrick
Waugh has been fired.

Speaker 8 (01:06:35):
Peter de Boor has been named the new headed coach.

Speaker 9 (01:06:37):
When it comes to baseball, the Astros of place Ace
Hunter Brown on the fifteen date injured list with a
strain in his pitching shoulder. Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts is
also being placed on the injured list because of a.

Speaker 8 (01:06:47):
Strange right oblique.

Speaker 9 (01:06:49):
Right now in baseball, Cubs ley the Guardians one zero,
bottom of the eighth inning.

Speaker 8 (01:06:53):
Pirates are crushing the Orioles eight one.

Speaker 9 (01:06:55):
After six innings, the Padres have taken the lead from
the Red Sox. It's been back and fourth Manny Machado
with the three run homer gave San Diego the lead.
So it's six'. Four bottom of the sixth. Inning brewers
lead The royals four to. Two bottom of the fifth,
Inning Raisin twins are tight at. One top of the seventh,
Inning White sox over The Blue jays two. Zero bottom
of the fourth. Inning red's lead The rangers one zero

(01:07:18):
on the. Road bottom of the Fourth rockies have added
a couple more. Runs they right now are shutting out
The phillies three, zero top of the second. Inning And
i'm sure you, all you guys all Saw Joe adele
stealing those home runs.

Speaker 8 (01:07:28):
Yesterday.

Speaker 9 (01:07:31):
Unbelievable So Daniel, kramer he covers The mariners FOR mlb Dot,
com and he has a picture and it's a whiteboard
that is outside The mariner The mariners clubhouse In, anaheim
and on the whiteboard it says game, plan don't hit
the ball To Joseph. Adell that's all the whiteboard. Says
unbelievable is right back to you, guys all, right.

Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
Because Joe adell is an offensive, player, RIGHT i, mean
he hits a lot of home runs and everything else
and he has if you miss this laslast night was
a late game for The angels Against. Americas he not
only had one catch over the, wall not, two, three
and the third one he literally goes into the. Stands

(01:08:12):

the first game An angels franchise history where they won
a one nothing game on a lead off the game home.
Run oh. Wow Zach natal led the game off with
a home run that was the only run of the.
Game But Joe ADELE i, mean and by the, WAY

(01:08:32):
i loved. It The angel fans gave. Him they stayed
after the game standing ovation.

Speaker 3 (01:08:39):
Phenomenal LIKE i, said, man football, players these guys are
just tremendous.

Speaker 4 (01:08:44):
Athletes they're not just out there swinging a stick at the.

(01:09:07):
getting ready for the tip off of The Women's championship
Between South carolina AND. Ucla Dan, Hurley Dan, Hurley so
did you feel Like Dan hurley should have been teed
up for headbutting the official at the end of that
game Against? Duke because if he had been teed, up,
Obviously duke would have gone to the free throw, line
potentially made two free, throws and he would have lost the.

(01:09:30):
Game you were talking earlier about rules right. Here you're
big on that sixty five game. Rule, well there are
certain rules, about you, know making physical contact with an
official much less. Ahead but he later said he thought
that the official was going to chest bump, HIM i,
know during a. Game, Really oh, yeah that if he

(01:09:52):
wanted to get fired as an, OFFICIAL i guess he
would have chest. Bumped you.

Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
Got kept, out he got kept out of the final.
FOUR i know that he did get kept out and
the referee it was not allowed to referee the final
four game or a national.

Speaker 2 (01:10:05):
Championship he was, like, yeah he, GOES i thought he
was gonna chest bump. Me, SO i, mean, what what
are you a fan Of Dan, hurley, who uh you,
know tries to continue this narrative that, like basically The
laker job was his and that he turned it. DOWN
i don't know the validity of. That, uh but, uh
you're not a fan Of Dan? Hurly, NO i might,
Not he, WENT i don't like and, yeah so this.

(01:10:27):
GENO i don't like. JERKS i DON'T i. DON'T i
don't like. JERKS i don't LIKE i don't like grown
men who IT'S i like? Organic like if you if
you're Like jordan was, organic.

Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
Right, Kobe? Kobe he didn't like being your. Friend he
didn't try to act like your. Friend he didn't try
to act LIKE i don't think That jordan could be a.

Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
Jerk you could you you were cool or?

Speaker 3 (01:10:51):
What or to your teammates within the team to get
your guys to do what you're trying to do to
get to the ultimate, goal that's, Okay but when you're
doing it with the press the, media the fans THAT
i don't like that When i'm watching a grown ass
man who's supposed to be leading young, men challenging fans
to come down and fight me while you got two
state troopers standing on each side of.

Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
You i'm.

Speaker 3 (01:11:12):
Sorry WHERE i come, from we call that suck a. Bleep,
okay that's suck a. Bleep that's the guy.

Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
In the lunch.

Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
Room we've all seen, it the kid in the lunch
room who gets loud once the fight's gonna get broken,
up once the teachers.

Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
Arrive Now john's loud.

Speaker 3 (01:11:28):
Now but When mike was in your face a minute,
ago you wasn't trying to See. Mike but now That
Principal johnson And Missus adler the homeback, teacher and Mister
jones the pe teacher have all converged on the noise
in the, cafeteria Now mike wants to. Fight now he
reminds me of that type of. Guy and when you.
Win that's the problem with winning in this. Country AND

(01:11:51):
i will continue.

Speaker 2 (01:11:52):
To say THAT i want.

Speaker 3 (01:11:53):
Anything, Okay winning's not always, Good, steve because it starts
to make people think that they can act and they
can be away that we have.

Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
This you're not supposed to be that, way all, right
this is The Bob knight. Roll obviously there was no
more horrific individual than, right no more horrific. Individual get.
Away how about we got away with it as long
as he was. Winning when he stopped, winning here we,
go then they got rid of him there because he
was an embarrassment to the. University it was an embarrassment
to the. Sport. Uh and the only thing that saved
him all those years was. Winning so Again i'm LIKE i,

(01:12:27):
Said i'm not A Dan hurley fan. Either, uh but
you have to recognize his. Record and he wins a
third championship in four. Years now you're in you talk
about rarefied. Ere there's only two coaches that have ever accomplished,
that one of them obviously Being John wood who won
seven in a, row a nine out of. Ten But Adolph,
rupp another legendary. NAME i was in the history of

(01:12:51):
college what.

Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
Was that name from THAT u C L a guy
what was his?

Speaker 5 (01:12:54):
Name?

Speaker 3 (01:12:54):
Again that the guy you just, Said John Wood John,
wooden but was perceived as a what, yeah a good?

Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
Guy, right well he. Was here's the thing about Coach
wooden as a coach, okay and players will tell you
he worked the officials like the. Rest he could be. Tough,
yeah they are really. TOUGH i mean the, gentlemanly grandfatherly
guy that we all. KNEW i have been assured by
players who played For John wood and he wasn't always.

Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
Like that's what that's that's that's what you're supposed to.

Speaker 8 (01:13:25):
BE i agree.

Speaker 3 (01:13:26):
With you gotta be competitive death so. CODE i got
kids At birmingham right. Now that is sometimes they don't
like Coach, husky they don't what but but but when
the clock is double, zero you, KNOW i mean kids
come to me and talk to me about their. Problems you,
KNOW i mean kids come to me and talk to
me about Stuff david told their.

Speaker 4 (01:13:43):
Parents you, KNOW i mean kids come to.

Speaker 2 (01:13:44):
Me you mention the, word you mentioned the, word especially
at the collegiate. Level. Parent you, know as a, parent
you're not always. Popular you're not supposed to be exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
Friend i'm your dad exactly now we could be, friendly
But i'm not your.

Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
Buddy well i'm your. FATHER i CAN i can root
you on, right you know when you're doing? Wrong, Yeah
i'm gonna call.

Speaker 3 (01:14:05):
You you go oh for Four i'm not gonna tell you
you had a good game in the backseat of the
car and a way to go.

Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
Get sway when you weren't into the participation. Trophy, no you,
know by the, way my kids were of the first
generation of the participation, trophies AND i told, her, no,
no we're not taking any.

Speaker 4 (01:14:20):
Particips, listen it's not going on the.

Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
Mantle no, no, no, no no. No you win to a,
ward you, win your team wins a.

Speaker 3 (01:14:27):
Championship absolutely, Right but just because you, played because you,
participated call me what you want to call. ME i
want to teach my. Kids, no you better. Listen stop
telling kids they don't have to compete in this.

Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
World they got part it became they were bringing. Home
these participation trophies were the size of The, heisman right,
thinking y'all, won get out you lost by thirty. Two
introductions are going on right now on the women's. Net
is there a?

Speaker 3 (01:14:58):
Fire no, no, no that's No, steve that's that's the.
Effect that's the that's the pregame.

Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
Effects is there a fire on the court with that's going? On,
okay this Is Fox Sports. Sunday you're listening To Fox
Sports Radio Radio hartman And Husky Fox Sports. Sunday we're
in The Fox Sports radios, STUDIOS ucla off to a

(01:15:25):
nine to four lead right now Over South carolina six
half minutes to go in the first quarter in this,
GAME i never asked. You you, know, Uh men's collegiate
basketball is the only level of basketball the plays halves
instead of. Quarters do you like it or?

Speaker 6 (01:15:40):
Not?

Speaker 2 (01:15:41):
No, no every other level of, basketball high, school, professional
all women's levels play. Quarters only in men's college basketball
do they play. ALL i think all college basketball should be.
HAVE i love the. HAVELS i agree with, you especially with.
Momentum right when you get some momentum, going you don't
have that. Break i'm with you on the halt AND i.

Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
FORGET i forget that women's college basketball plays. Quarters, yes
so when the quarter, Ends i'm like the other, Night
i'm looking at the game, like what the hell is
sixteen nine at the? Hat?

Speaker 2 (01:16:11):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:16:12):
Court what?

Speaker 3 (01:16:12):
COURT i forget because it's it's you, know when you're
watching college you're just, assuming, oh you're gonna. Playeh, No,
no give me the two. HALVES i love the two.
Halves give me the two halves because then you have
those you know under fifteen, timeout under ten, Timeout like
you have ENOUGH tv timeouts that you don't have to
burn your own, timeouts and THE tv timeouts are like quarter.
Breaks SO i like that, part you, KNOW i, say,

(01:16:35):
hey they're just trying to get to the under twelve
minute before he gets this player back. IN i love
that it makes the game different because it's a different, game,
right so why not have?

Speaker 4 (01:16:44):
It why not have it a little.

Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
Different especially in the, tournament because you get THE tv
timeouts every four, minutes, right so every five minutes four
minutes FOUR a twelve sixteen got to pay them, bills
so you get. That you still lay up eleven to.
Four South carolina could get nothing going to early on,
offensively and well that's.

Speaker 3 (01:17:04):
No they're getting stuff. Going they're just missing layups and
you guys are making your legs making their. Layups South
carolina's missing their. Labs that's the six point seven.

Speaker 2 (01:17:11):
Why That this would be huge FOR u c L.
A i mean to and it's a senior, team AS i,
mentioned the completely senior dominated team FOR u c L.
A if they win the national championship and, finally after
all these, years getting another banner raised At pauly pavilion
rightfully alongside the men's. Championships first EVER ncaa, championship it

(01:17:33):
would be For UCLA's. Women they had an AIA w.
Championship let me actual championship back in seventy. Eight, yes
do you think it would be good for women's college
basketball IF u c L a would be a? Team? Now,
hey where we've arrived?

Speaker 3 (01:17:47):
Now or could if don, Listen South carolina wins is, like, oh,
Okay don's got her forth.

Speaker 2 (01:17:51):
Here so in the early days of women's, basketball he
had like A Macilotta Delta state or. Dominion, right but
When summit Put tennessee on the y top level of women's,
basketball and by the, WAY usc was there in the

(01:18:11):
early eighties With Cheryl. Miller so when you start bringing in,
yeah not not the old, dominions not those, schools but you,
know suddenly, elite you, know recognizable name, schools it absolutely
is a big benefit for the ladies. Game all, Right,
uh as this is going on right, now there are
other things we need to talk.

Speaker 3 (01:18:31):
About what, well what, man It's Easter. Sunday, man let's
give it to the ladies into basketball. Today you want
to go all ladies? Basketball, listen, Man i've done it.
Before i've done all ladies show. BEFORE i love women in.
SPORTS i told you just BEFORE i used to route
hardcore For Danica. PATRICK i used to root. Hall, Yes
i'm still pissed about the dayton. Five she ran in

(01:18:55):
the top five all day and the last three laps
a letter in the middle.

Speaker 2 (01:18:59):
All parts so wanted you mention in a tail when
case and didn't finish It. Patrick AS i, said the
men grew to love her because she was just another
car they could. Pass remember when she won the poll
at The daytona five. Hundreds her average finish over HER
nascar crew is like. TWENTY i don't.

Speaker 3 (01:19:19):
CARE i rooted for her because BECAUSE i think it's
okay that Want DID i tell you that the men.

Speaker 8 (01:19:25):
PERFORM i don't mind.

Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
That if you know THAT i Knew Danika patrick before
anybody Knew danny. Were we knew everybody. Was she was
in Our Toyota Pro celebrity race as a professional right
and there was a trans am driver Named Tommy, kendall
and they had a little side beck because there's like
the celebrity division and the pro's. Division she met him

(01:19:49):
that she was going to beat him And he's, like,
sure you, know she was this little. Girl you, know
no one knew she. Was she was complete. Nobody she
was at a lower level of, racing and she beat.
Him AND i was everyone's, thinking, well what what was the?
Bet and then we found out the day of the,
race because the suburny us is the day before she

(01:20:10):
was walking him around the grounds In Long beach with
a dog leash around his. Neck that was the. Bet
and so he had a dog leash and he was
this big, guy he's not and so she was walking
with him on a dog.

Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
LEASH i loved, her. MAN i was a big fan
OF i wanted to win a. Race so because there's
a lot of old schoolmen in this, CAR i don't
need to shut my.

Speaker 2 (01:20:36):
Mouth remember my Buddy Jay moore getting the stink guy
from her at THAT nascar threw a cup.

Speaker 4 (01:20:42):
Of water in her. FACE i remember. THAT a couple of.

Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
Water in her face is, like you, know this like a.
Roast you.

Speaker 3 (01:20:49):
KNOW i think they should let women play with the
men in. Golf let them hit from their. Tea oh,
PLEASE i do let them hit from why?

Speaker 2 (01:20:57):
Not just but why? Not all, right we'll continue on
coverage of The Women's championship game more on the final.

clear to her team we got to play much better
than we're playing right. Now final minute of the first
quarter OF ucla with a six point.

Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
They're blowing some easy.

Speaker 3 (01:22:13):
SHOTS i don't know if they're not playing, well they're
just they're they're missing layups and blowing easy. Shots and
another THING i see a lot happen in women's basketball.
Too this is so much foul hunting goes on that
if the referee doesn't blow the, whistle you're not gonna
get the. Foul but don't just throw the ball up
like we just saw the.

Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
Guard.

Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
Dude, Also Lauren betts took some type of shot in her.
Throat she's been on the bench now for the last
two and a half minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:22:37):
And she's pointing at her. Throat she keeps put.

Speaker 3 (01:22:39):
Her, eyes she keeps wiping her, eyes she keeps coughing
as you can't. Breathe she keeps pointing at her throat
to the training staff, there but the UCLA's office has
just disappears since she's left the.

Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
Floor all, right, WELL ucla to, Ten, yeah a nice spin.
Movie and, that's by the, way That's BET's sister that
made that move in the uh in the. Pivot so right, now,
again ten points is All South carolina is going to
end up here in the first quarter And you're not
gonna win any championship game like.

Speaker 3 (01:23:06):
That, no not at, all especially when you're giving them.
EIGHTEEN i, mean you're down eight right. Now but LIKE i,
said they got. It they gotta get some balls to,
fall get some shots to. Fall just take their just
take their.

Speaker 2 (01:23:15):
Time oh, wow a three pointer FOR ucla twenty one to.
Ten Kiki rice The All. American that is the end
of the first. Quarter it is All. Bruins she's like

Speaker 4 (01:23:49):

Speaker 3 (01:23:50):

handle BUT i used it.

Speaker 3 (01:24:24):

by the.

Speaker 2 (01:24:28):

Speaker 2 (01:25:10):
Group, well people don't people used to be able to
laugh at? Themselves?

Speaker 3 (01:25:15):
Right and if all those things are off the, table
why CAN'T i give a hardcore sports?

Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
Opinion why CAN'T i? Say what is your brand of?
Humor and you do stand? UP i, mean are you
one that takes? Shots do you give? ME i talk about, everybody,
WELL i talk about. EVERYTHING i talk about. Everybody nobody's,
sacred cover. EVERYBODY i talk about black, PEOPLE i talk
about The.

Speaker 3 (01:25:40):
SPANISH I BUT i do it in a way OF
I i kind OF i kind of sneak up on.
YOU i kind OF i kind of shake your hand
and stick the knife in the back WHEN i go
to give you a.

Speaker 4 (01:25:49):
Hug because What i'll do, is for, Instance i'll ask.

Speaker 3 (01:25:52):
Who's in the, audience who's in the, Audience let me
see all of My latinos make no? Noise and then
of course All latinas makes no. NOISE i tell them
SOMETHING i like about them and about their, culture whether
it's their, food their, drink the way they.

Speaker 4 (01:26:04):
DID i talk about.

Speaker 7 (01:26:05):
That.

Speaker 3 (01:26:06):
FIRST i become your friend, first, yes and then Then
i'm gonna make fun of.

Speaker 2 (01:26:10):
It, Yeah and THEN i make fun of. It you
gotta be able TO i learned how to do.

Speaker 4 (01:26:14):
That Fat doctor rip fat.

Speaker 3 (01:26:16):
Doctor who's a guy who groomed guys like, Me Martin,
Lawrence Dave chappelle at ask about the Fat. Doctor anybody
from THE dc metropolitan, area THE df will tell you
the fat. Doctor he Grew Terry. Carpenter he groomed all
of us back in the. Day he's the one who
taught me.

Speaker 2 (01:26:29):
That all, right well that. Works, Okay i'll tell you
what else. Works AND i know you love to take
credit at every. Corner, well y'all don't give it to,
me SO i gotta take.

Speaker 9 (01:26:39):
It.

Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
Okay so you claim that the fact That Kirk cousins
is now a raider is on. YOU i called. It,
well first of, all we were talking about a multitude
of possibilities For Kirk.

Speaker 3 (01:26:52):
Cussins but what DID i, Say though you were talking
about a? MULTITUDE i, said the best place for him
to go and WHERE i guarantee you he's gonna end
up signing is going to be.

Speaker 2 (01:27:04):
The can tell. You, Okay i'm gonna say.

Speaker 6 (01:27:06):
This.

Speaker 2 (01:27:06):
Okay, now first of, all this would be a major
assumption that with that offensive, Line Kirk cousins can stay
upright for an extended period of. Time but let's say he. Does,
okay so you hire a first year Car so he's
not going, anywhere, RIGHT i, mean he's not gonna be
a one. In this is Not Pete. Carroll you brought
in a young offensive assistant just coming off The Super, Bowl,

(01:27:27):
Okay kubiak is going to be there for the near.
Future so he's under no pressure right.

Speaker 7 (01:27:32):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:27:32):
Right so the idea of sitting your Quarterback Patrick mahomes
sat his rookie. Year he sat for the whole year
and Watched Alec. Smith how that work or pretty. Good
so if The raiders are smart and if they can
Keep Kirk cousins, upright that's exactly what they should do With.
Mendoza you, know he's a, sponge he's a super smart.

(01:27:55):
Kid let him, observe let him take, notes let him
do all, that and then hand him the. Job but
if they can keep him on the, bench the longer
they keep him on the, bench the BETTER i believe
for his. Future not only.

Speaker 3 (01:28:08):
That you, know how you Keep Kirk cousins up, Right
you turn around and hand the ball to Ashij that's
how you keep.

Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
Your BACK i don't want to get my running back.
Killed you're gonna have to have some passing.

Speaker 3 (01:28:18):
Game they're gonna fix the. Line they'll be, listen the
line wasn't that. Bad it's just, no it's just That
Chip kelly was a horrible. Coordinator that is.

Speaker 2 (01:28:27):
TRUE i mean when he's sending plays in The Gino
smith That gino doesn't even know.

Speaker 3 (01:28:31):
It's not on his arm play. Bands that's like order
something at the. Right that's like the waiter going back
to the kitchen and, saying, HEY i need A kish
on the, fly and the cook sticking his head under
the little see through part and, go we don't serve.

Speaker 2 (01:28:45):
Keish.

Speaker 3 (01:28:46):
OH i just Told table nine The keish is the bomb. Here,
yeah we don't Have. Keish it's the same thing you're
calling plays that's not on his. Armband back To Kirk,
COUSINS i told you, guys this is gonna.

Speaker 4 (01:28:58):
Happen it. Happened it was the.

Speaker 3 (01:29:00):
Smartest, team smartest move go to where they're gonna draft
somebody in the more and, Overall mendozah should sit at
least the first.

Speaker 2 (01:29:10):
Ten that's the WAY ucla is blowing Out South carolina
now twenty six to.

Speaker 3 (01:29:18):
Twelve that's four that's not blowing him. Out where's twenty
six to? Twelve now with an and one For South?
Carolina say you speak too? Soon you speak too? Soon
and fourteen.

Speaker 2 (01:29:27):
Points Lauren betts is coming back into the not of.

Speaker 3 (01:29:31):
Blall but With Kirk. Cousins this is perfect if You're.
MENDOZA i was At disneyland on my kids the other,
day wife and kids took the. Kids, wife wife AND
i took Kids. Disneyland saw a bunch Of raider fans.
There you know, Me i'm a talk to the person
standing in line waiting to take the. Picture seeing the
guy with a raidered hat on started talking about The.
Raiders he, goes do you Think mendoza should?

Speaker 2 (01:29:47):
Start? No, no, no who would say?

Speaker 5 (01:29:49):
That?

Speaker 4 (01:32:14):
Out let me ask you a. Question who's the greatest
running back of all?

Speaker 2 (01:32:17):

top rusher of all? Time, yeah, yes he had for
his more yards per game rushing than anyone's still in
the history of THE. Nfl, okay what about totally?

Speaker 4 (01:32:26):

Speaker 3 (01:32:55):
Seven people used to say forty five Until kobe did
that three times and then now he got to move the.

Speaker 2 (01:32:59):
Bar, yes he shot forty five percent every time you
are forty seven? Percent was forty Sixty?

Speaker 3 (01:33:05):

Speaker 2 (01:33:14):
Bar, okay you're just avoiding the. Obvious, No i'm not.
Not carolina is really up against it AGAINST ucla in this.

Speaker 3 (01:33:21):
Goow they got to make some layups is what they gotta.
Do yet they're up against AT ucla wants their. Championship
they didn't play well the other. Night, listen it's not
gonna hurt my. Feelings IF ucla wins this. Game it's there.
First my girl still got three and her teams will,
be her team will. Be let me ask you, this
where would THIS ucla team be next? Year will they
be in the final?

Speaker 2 (01:33:38):
FOUR i don't. KNOW i don't. Know see that all
the transfers are going to be coming in that transfer to.

Speaker 3 (01:33:43):
Four years to get these girls To these are fall,
seniors right so they've been there.

Speaker 2 (01:33:47):
FOR i understand that Every South carolina got The brad
wants to go TO.

Speaker 4 (01:33:50):
Ucla how many final fours Is Don stanley been to
in a row right?

Speaker 2 (01:33:53):

Year it's gonna be sack if you get blown out
in back to back championship. Games that's a fire bowl. Offence,
okay you know the.

Speaker 4 (01:34:02):
Other so want to be my friend no.

Speaker 2 (01:34:03):
More This Easter easter Sun it's it's. Eastern It's.

Speaker 3 (01:34:08):
Eastern it's because you know, what because It's Easter. Sunday

here coverage of this women's championship. Game more on the
men's final. Tomorrow this Is Fox Sports. Sunday don't like
you you're listening To Fox Sports Radio, Radio harman And.
Husky Here Fox Sports sunday once again in Our Fox
Sports radio. Studio it's got three minutes to go here

(01:34:36):
in the first, HALF ucla Leading South carolina thirty two to.
Nineteen tomorrow will be the men's championship game coming up
Between michigan And. Yukon on the men's. Side since we're
all the way to the championship, game how would you have?
Rated you've been watching the tournament for, many many. Years
how did this tournament? Play out for. YOU i know

(01:34:59):
it's a little bit interrupted because of the funeral service
for your grandmother and everything. ELSE i know you didn't
get to watch all of, it but, uh surely the
end of That Yukon duke game will be talked about.
FOREVER i, MEAN i just it's.

Speaker 4 (01:35:12):
What are my? Gram are you giving me a to
f r AM i doing?

Speaker 11 (01:35:15):
One, Well i'm just compared to on your own, Scale
i'm one to ten on a one to, Ten, yeah,
TEN i get this tournament of six. SIX i, mean
let's just let's let's get. Real it was.

Speaker 3 (01:35:27):
Run it's a lot of freshmen right. Now where we're
looking at all these freshmen, PLAYERS i don't see any
of these guys that are ready to BE NBA P.

Speaker 2 (01:35:35):
Well think about. This, normally when you get to the championship,
game even if the player's team has been, Eliminated like
you Remember Steph curry And davidson they went out in
The elite eight To, kansas but you came out of that.
Tournament that's the guy you're you're talking. About and so
every year there is like a, player like a breakout. Player,
Now mullins obviously played a pretty good game again last.

(01:35:58):
Night had a big shot late in the, game but
you know he had the shot obviously that thirty five
we've seen, him but it really has not been when
you think about The All, americans The boozer didn't play
out like a lot of people expected by you busted
in the First roundel there, Goes They're All. American he
dropped thirty, Four he, came he, came but they were
one and done and that was the end of. It

(01:36:19):
so that was the end of. That SO i, mean
it really is nobody when this tournament Is maybe something's
going to happen tomorrow in the, GAME i don't, know
but it outside of The, mullins big thirty five foot
or to Beat, duke it just really is no player
that sort of captured the buzz that normally happens every

(01:36:39):
year in THE ncaa.

Speaker 4 (01:36:40):
Tournament AND i want TO i want.

Speaker 3 (01:36:43):
TO i want to preface this comment by just telling
PEOPLE i love college. BASKETBALL i, Do BUT i did
hear someone say about three or four years SOMETHING i
didn't agree. With but now WHEN i get new, information
Like i'm a firm believer in this, business you're allowed
to have hard court. Opinions but When i'm giving new.
Information i'm allowed to change my. Mind i'm allowed to

(01:37:04):
adjust WHAT i said before When i'm giving new. Information
AND i was fighting back and forth with a big
name person in this. Business not gonna put his name,
up but a big nameenne way bigger than.

Speaker 2 (01:37:13):
My name in this.

Speaker 3 (01:37:13):
Business and he told me he GOES. Vj college basketball
is not a good. Product it's been unwatchable for about ten.
Years And i'm, like what are you kidding?

Speaker 4 (01:37:22):
Me, no da, dah and not go on my whole
ram my whole.

Speaker 3 (01:37:25):
Defense and as he started to break it, down he
started to make a whole lot more since when he
started to add in the way they're going overseas for,
Play like look at the lineup For illinois last.

Speaker 2 (01:37:37):
Night CAN i pause for just a, second, sure BECAUSE
i saw this and it was sort of mind blowing to.
Me this Year's March madness is the most WATCHED ncaa
tournament since nineteen ninety. Three how, though since nineteen ninety,
three they're averaging ten point three million viewers through The elite,

(01:37:59):
eight a nine percent increase over last. Year and of
course they had nineteen million viewers for That Yukon duke.
Game that's a huge number for a college basketball, game
but overall this has been the most WATCHED ncaa tournament
since nineteen ninety. THREE i saw that yesterday AND i asked,

(01:38:21):
myself but how and?

Speaker 4 (01:38:23):
Why is it because it was a DEAD nba?

Speaker 3 (01:38:26):
Week is it because it was spring break for most
of the nation this week as far as school public schools.
Go my kids were, out all the kids back IN
va and THE dnv WHERE i just flew back from
where all the kids In North carolina where my grandmother
was put the rest they were.

Speaker 2 (01:38:40):
All it was no everyone was. Home everybody was home
this past.

Speaker 3 (01:38:46):
Week That duke game Is sunday, evening, Right That duke
game Is sundays Last sunday. Evening that's an easy game
for everyone to sit home and it Is duke and you,
come how about?

Speaker 2 (01:38:56):
This The round of thirty two game Between Saint Johnson
kansas got eleven million. Views, coaches you think they watched
the Say patino and. Self BUT i mean at the same, Time, oh,
no second round.

Speaker 3 (01:39:09):
Game let's go about the coaches, Though, nay, okay so
who are they Watching? Peterson, well, no a million people tune.

Speaker 2 (01:39:15):
In let's get back to the little. Coaches. THING i
mean when we were talking about how many coaches matter
in terms of, EYEBALLS i guess these guys are justifying.
There but this is the most watched tournament in thirty three.

Speaker 3 (01:39:28):
Years when you Watched Saint John's, Crazy tell me the
players or know.

Speaker 2 (01:39:33):
It it's never been more.

Speaker 3 (01:39:34):
Popular you're watching because you either want to go Against
patino or you want to root For. Patino nameing The
Kennan arkansas that you're thirsty to.

Speaker 2 (01:39:43):
Watch your don't have.

Speaker 3 (01:39:44):
One you either want to Watch calipari win or you
wanna Watch calipari.

Speaker 2 (01:39:49):
Lose it wasn't even About. Boozer It's.

Speaker 3 (01:39:52):
Duke no matter Who duke has on the, floor you
either Want duke to win or you Want duke to.
Loose you're watching for the name or the, coach coach
k all those, Years Roy, Williams Kyli, Pari, Patino calhoun Is,
oh and you're not.

Speaker 2 (01:40:10):
Watching tell me The Michigan state. Kids you're watching this? Year?

Speaker 3 (01:40:13):
Guys somebody tweeted to me without looking it up right
now At Big Vanilla funny ON x you. Can't you're
watching because you either want to see Is a win
or you want to See isolo most people can't name
none of These South carolina. Players you either Want Don
stanley to win or you Want Don stanley to. Lose
by what college basketball has turned into to the back

(01:40:35):
to the point THAT i was, making and it's not
we don't have the star that we're rooting hardcore for
or pulling. Against it's more against programs or against. Coaches
and to, me that kind of makes the product fall
a little. Bit by the, way even though the numbers
don't say this the most Watching i'm trying to figure
out that.

Speaker 2 (01:40:55):
A lot of people as they were tuning into the
final Four, yesterdays where the hell is the game? Right
because it wasn't ON, cbs it was ON, TVs cbs,
Terrible what's, See that's the Point i'm. Making but that's
the Point i'm making even though obviously the games have
been ON, CBS, tbs chante and. True BUT i, mean,
again the numbers don't lie all, right highest ratings since

(01:41:18):
nineteen ninety three overall. Streaming but there are a lot
of people upset THAT cbs is not automatically but it's a.
Rotation that's the deal that they have right now WITH
tbs AND, nbs and there in the final.

Speaker 4 (01:41:29):
Four the gentleman THAT i was talking to point that much.

Speaker 3 (01:41:32):
More if it was that great over the last, decade
they would have never decided to rotate.

Speaker 2 (01:41:37):
It but they they would have made money out of
this deal because they split the. Money more money is
being poured in for THE Nc tournament than ever. Before
obviously they're doing a hell of a job promoting. It
so then back to the eyeballs are?

Speaker 3 (01:41:49):
There so then back to the coaches getting paid these
millions and, millions and they almos asked me, About.

Speaker 2 (01:41:54):
Hey that's but then it's a short, list short, list
And Dan hurley again very quickly has become a very
polari looking he's He's.

Speaker 3 (01:42:02):
I'll give this to, him, okay BECAUSE i don't want
to make it seem LIKE i. CAN i can overlook
the ability the man could coach. Basketball it's in his. Blood,
well think about the man's last name Is, Hurley.

Speaker 2 (01:42:12):
Okay it's his. Brother couldn't know his, brother Could he
was there? Long eleven Year you're, Right how did these
last eleven years stay? With eleven? Years?

Speaker 4 (01:42:22):
THOUGH i don't know how he did his, steve but.

Speaker 2 (01:42:24):
They kept waiting for something to, happen and it never.
Did he lasted eleven. YEARS i don't, know but if
father's a legend high school, legend it's in his. Name
by the, way you know how his father ended up not.
Coaching they closed his, school the high school that he coached,
At Saint Anthony's. School whatever it, was money money they
funded that was Of Bob hurley's career as A. HURLEY

(01:42:46):
i just want to make sure people get this and understand.

Speaker 4 (01:42:48):
THIS i don't.

Speaker 3 (01:42:49):
LISTEN i don't like his. PERSONALITY i don't like his.
ANTICS i don't like the way he talks to. PEOPLE
i don't like the way that he seemingly treats. People
but the man can flat out coach basketball because there's
just no way that you can get to this mini
final fours in national championship games and have a chance
to win your third and four years without being a good.

(01:43:10):
Coach so he think about that great basketball. COACH i
just think he's a little bit of a. JERK i
think he's. RUDE i think he's he reminds me of
the guy who never was really cool when he was a,
kid and now that he's an adult and he kind
of got protection around. Him now he's this Tough jersey coach.
Guy that's the way he comes off to.

Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
Me but the man can.

Speaker 3 (01:43:28):
Coach and if they win it, AGAIN i can't ever
say anything about his. Coach and if they, win if
they win.

Speaker 2 (01:43:32):
Tomorrow, now all, RIGHT ucla up thirteen at the. Half
by the, way When Lauren betts is on the, Floor
South carolina's five for twenty four, shooting so her presence
is being felt on the defensive.

Speaker 3 (01:43:43):
End russ shooting, back they're nine to thirty, five they're
shooting twenty six. Percent they're one to eight from.

Speaker 2 (01:43:47):
Three right, Now, well when you have a six foot
center FOR ucla on the, floor what happens on those?
Layups you rush them? Right you rush them? Right what's you?
Know you're you're rushing them because of her presence on the,
court and they're missing.

Speaker 4 (01:43:59):
Layups when she was off the, floor they were still mission.

Speaker 2 (01:44:03):
Point Blay.

Speaker 4 (01:44:03):
Let this game is far from what was the thirteen.

Speaker 2 (01:44:05):
POINT i can not even no call, It Steve national
champions right, now health not a chance in. Hell let's
find out what's? Training make say the Women national champion

Speaker 1 (01:44:32):

Speaker 2 (01:44:34):

Speaker 8 (01:44:58):
Percent for self Care carolina a whole have to. Go
we'll see what happens. Here BUT u c L a
is up right.

Speaker 9 (01:45:05):
Now AND i Know Steve harmon doesn't want to JINXIT
vj because even before he literally was, LIKE i don't
think The bruins can pull this one off Because South
carolina is so, good Right.

Speaker 8 (01:45:15):
LIKE i don't think so so you, definitely.

Speaker 2 (01:45:17):

Paraguay they'll beat.

Speaker 2 (01:56:28):
Us it is not even.

Speaker 7 (01:56:32):
That it's Like i'm already seeing people blaming Punche tino on.
This it's, like watch this, game stop telling me about.
It it is, deeper, yes, stuff but stop telling about the.
Talent pulis such hasn't scored since last, year Since december
of last, year and this this team is LIKE i
know everyone the first question out of there was, like
can they win The World? Cup and you want to
be hopefully want to brove for the home, team But i'm,
sorry the homes team.

Speaker 2 (01:56:53):
Stinks they.

Speaker 7 (01:56:54):
Stink they have no talent out there and they are
just lifeless and they do not play like A.

Speaker 9 (01:56:59):
U S a on.

Speaker 2 (01:56:59):
One you don't want you want to know, something you
want to host of. ALL i ALWAYS i always go
way back in nineteen ninety, four remember The United states
hosts of The World, cup and they got to the medal.
Round they went out around in, sixteen they lost one,
nil and so there was a lot of hype going
up into nineteen ninety. Eight that year they finished last

(01:57:19):
thirty two out of thirty, two And i'm, like what?
Happened what happened to all? That so it's this has
been the story OF us men's soccer on The World
cup level. Forever every time you think they're taking a step,
forward they take a giant.

Speaker 7 (01:57:33):
Backward here's the general thing, TOO i don't even need
them to like definitively win The World. CUP i just
want them to have some fight in. Them That donovan
era of the TEAM usa men's was fantastic because they
would scrap with everyone, this, this these this, team This
puli citizen And rain and. Everyone they don't look like
they have fight in. Them, Meanwhile mexico is making us

(01:57:55):
versus the world. Mentality they also Played belgium And portugal
held both them to draw. Us they didn't get their butts.

Speaker 2 (01:58:01):
Kicked, okay going.

Speaker 3 (01:58:02):
Out to That brazil game in that sweetest, SIX i
just want to put this Out. Brazil remember they score
early and then they played keep. Away they didn't just
BLOW usa. Up that's WHY i think we came out
of that.

Speaker 2 (01:58:10):
Work can we hold off on The World cup until
we Acknowledge UCLA's eighteen point lead with seven minutes to
go in the third quarter rolls.

Speaker 4 (01:58:19):
Seven i'm not calling.

Speaker 2 (01:58:21):
ME i mean eighteen point, LEAD i mean nineteen point
nineteen point.

Speaker 4 (01:58:24):
Lead, now this game is gonna be blow.

Speaker 3 (01:58:26):
This anybody calling this right? Now according to, you if
they blow. This they should fire their.

Speaker 7 (01:58:31):
Coach yeshis. GAME i just want to know that because
it feels like this is going to go the.

Speaker 2 (01:58:35):
Under this is no, well this is not rough. Sider
this is better when we saw in the semi, FINALS
i mean game In Texas ucla that was twenty to
seventeen at half. Time so, anyway nineteen point lead right,
now seven minutes to. Go all. Right so the story
that you have not talked about was for the first
time since nineteen ninety, four no, fill no, Tie you're

(01:59:00):
at The, masters both out of The master because Because i'm,
hurt Because i'm hurt by.

Speaker 4 (01:59:04):
That it's.

Speaker 2 (01:59:04):
Over it's.

Speaker 3 (01:59:06):
Over nobody's held on the tiger at this network longer than. Me, nobody,
Nobody and it's not.

Speaker 2 (01:59:10):
Close what did you think of his because we had the,
camera you, Know rollie where you see him and he
said he's talking to the president and he's saying he
was looking at his. Phone blah blah. Blah it's a
sad fall had to keep the sunglasses on the.

Speaker 3 (01:59:25):
Cover i'm out and, no LIKE i, said nobody's held
on the Tiger woods at this network longer than. Me
but sometimes as a grown, ass, man you got to
look at another grown ass man and just, go, look,
man he was great for the. Game he was great
during his. Time you Would but since all that turmoil this, happened.

Speaker 2 (01:59:43):
Think about this five years. Ago he has a near
fatal car, Accidly i'm gonna have to have his leg. Amputated,
Right so a near fatal almosts his. Leg you would
think that would be the majority of.

Speaker 5 (01:59:55):
Us.

Speaker 2 (01:59:55):
Especially it wasn't like he was twenty five years. Old
he's forty. Five now he's. Fifty you would think at
that point in your, Life, OKAY i narrowly escaped. Death
i'm never gonna put myself in a position like that.

Speaker 4 (02:00:08):
Again. Ever think he's. Untouchable think he's.

Speaker 3 (02:00:11):
Invincible and that's because once, again in our in our,
culture when you win and our, culture let's wrap the
show up how we started it and our culture when you,
win and you, Notice steve.

Speaker 2 (02:00:23):
It just erases and glosses over so many deficiencies of.
Somebody how about the fact that he is saying the
reason he doesn't have a private driver is his uh?
Privacy what what are you just just talking? About name
his people all over the planet have.

Speaker 3 (02:00:41):
Drivers there's prescription or whatever the. Case he wasn't he
wasn't drunk off. Alcohol, no he's.

Speaker 2 (02:00:48):
Been he's you, know he had pills in his pocket
and everything. Else head pills in the car that flipped
over out here out here In. Malibu head pills in the,
car that found pills in the. Car he's going to rehab.
Now he went. Overseas? Overseas is he?

Speaker 4 (02:01:01):
Is he roommates with pooking the?

Speaker 2 (02:01:02):
Coop how about pooking the? Coop how about? That is
he still going to get his witch's contract of any?

Kingdom of Fraud

Kingdom of Fraud

It’s the unlikeliest of criminal partnerships: a devout polygamist from an insular Utah sect joining forces with a shadowy Armenian tycoon from LA. The result - a billion dollar fraud conspiracy. In Kingdom of Fraud, investigative reporter Michele McPhee traces the origins of the extraordinary alliance between Jacob Kingston and Levon Termendzhyan. Together, the two men trigger the largest tax investigation in American history and weave around themselves a web of dirty cops, influential political relationships and transnational money laundering. All this is set against the backdrop of Jacob Kingston’s clan – The Order. A powerful and secretive polygamist organization in Salt Lake City. To whom Jacob is desperate to prove his worth. Kingdom of Fraud is produced by Novel for iHeart Podcasts. For more from Novel, visit https://novel.audio/.
