Speaker 1 (00:01):
I have better stop from beginning.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Jonas Knocks, you thought you knew me, You didn't know
a thing about me.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
He's crazier than a else.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Rapped that guy, Jonas Knocks, You heard me.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Friend, some darkness is lighting up your speakers to establish
an alibi for the day. Live from the tire Rag
dot com Fox Sports Radio Studios, here's Jonas Knox, yep, okay,
I'll be part of this world.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
You know, we all are aware of something that goes
on in college football every single year, Yet for some reason,
we're just gonna go ahead and ignore it. We're gonna
dismiss it and not even think twice about it. And
we will get into that coming up here in just
a couple of moments. From now, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio.
You can hang out with us as always on the

(01:09):

(01:29):
an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirac dot com the
way tire buying should be. There's several things that are
great about college football. We will discuss that throughout the
course of the show. One of them that I really
do like is just the unforgiving, relentless analysis of college football,

(01:58):
like it does not stop, like there is no like.
For example, we all understand that part of the advantage
of the NFL having a preseason is that you get
to work out some of the kinks. Now, you may
not like the preseason. You could be totally against it.
It's to waste a time. Nobody cares. None of these

(02:22):
games matter. It's like, okay, but you do kind of
get an opportunity to work through some things. You do
have that chance. Now, some teams are all about health
and safety and they don't want to put their players
out there and they don't want to risk their guys
getting injured, and all that makes sense, but it still
is an opportunity for you to work out some things
that you need to work out. Kind of work off

(02:44):
a little bit of the rust. The Kansas City Chiefs
play their starters in the preseason. They're not afraid of it.
The Patriots under Belichick did it. Like there's a lot
of teams that gave their starters some snaps, and then
you get to the final game, maybe you don't play them.
In the case of the Carolina Panthers, you did because
you didn't play in the previous But the point is

(03:05):
it's rehearsal, it's practice. You get that opportunity in an
actual game environment to kind of work through this stuff.
College football, nah, nah, We're just gonna go ahead and
throw you out there week one and see what you got. Like,
we all know that in most situations, that's not exactly

(03:31):
the way things are done. Like when you go to work,
like you start a new job, there's like a you know,
a period of like, all right, training, you know, you're
on you know, for three months, you know, whether you
want to call it like your introductory period before you

(03:52):
start the job, like whether you are like there's like
a period of time before you work in and then
they'll send you out there and be like all right, cool,
you're waiting tables, you follow along. You work in an
office job, you're going to train under somebody else, like
you know you work like here at Fox Sports Radio.
If you come in as an editor, you're going to
train with somebody to learn how to do it. You

(04:12):
go up to a producer, you get like, that's the
way this stuff works. College football, yearn.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
And year out.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
It's like, hey, man, I hope you enjoyed that spring
game in March. Hope you liked practice and getting ready
for the season. Here you go Week one, live rounds
and they count. And the best part about the coverage
of college football. While everybody should look at week one

(04:38):
and say, ah, you know, a little bit of a
grace period, like you know, like cut them some slack.
It's week one, and then that never happens. Ever, And
it's so obvious when you're watching some of these games today,
like Georgia and Clemson, Like, I mean, is that really

(04:59):
going to be the Georgia Clemson that we're going to
see the rest of the year. Are we really going
to see you know, a Clemson team put up zero points? Well,
you know that Georgia defense is great, okay, but wouldn't
you also think that it's kind of because it's week one,
Like it's not like Georgia was lighting up the scoreboard either,

(05:20):
like it's I mean just week one, like Penn State
West Virginia. They were just giving the ball back and
forth to each other like it's we And so you
would think there should be some grace, like hey, you
know what, give them some and there won't be at all.

(05:41):
And those fan bases are going to unload on all
of those teams that lose and come up short. That's why,
and I've said this before, I never criticize a team
that plays, you know, a Division two school or somebody
on the lower level. I never criticize them to open

(06:02):
up the year. Whenever anybody does that, it's like, oh god,
they're playing so and so, Okay, oh you're you're starting off.
It's yeah, because that's our de facto preseason. And you've
got like listen, Marvin Harrison Junior said it a couple
of weeks ago. Look, I wish, you know, college football
had a preseason, would be nice. And so when you

(06:23):
see these teams come out and you see these teams
struggle to put up points and they're turning the ball
over and they're coughing it up here and coffing it
up there. Then you're missing blocks and tackles and all that.
Like we all know this. We know going into the year. Hey,
it's gonna look a little sloppy at first, and it
takes like a quarter before people go, oh, this team
wasn't what we thought they were. What do you mean?

(06:45):
You literally acknowledge it every year that this is what
we're gonna get, and then we get it, and then
college football fan bases are like, no, no, no, no,
we expect more. Okay, But that's one of the great
things about college football. Amongst many you would think that
there would be some grace given, and there's none. About
a quarter and a half into each game to open
up the year. Jonas Noxier, Fox Sports Radio, all right, now,

(07:08):
let's talk about a team that it doesn't matter if
it's week one, week two, week three, week eight, week twelve,
or the Big Ten championship game. The Iowa Hawkeyes are back, folks,
They are back. And let me just tell you something
about my son. Little sorry about my son and his

(07:32):
first introduction into Iowa football.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
So, my son is three years.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Old, and if you're a parent, you start to understand
that the older they get. Even though he's three and
there's been two previous years of Iowa football, he didn't
remember all those Like he doesn't ignore, he doesn't know
what the hell's going on, doesn't acknowledge those like he's

(07:56):
just now figuring out that you can't crap your pants.
So but that's like development, Like you learn these things
you get a little bit older. It's like, what's your
first memory? Like I think mine was around four. That's
usually around so, like, listen a lot of these moments.
Maybe he's not going to remember down the road. Maybe
he will. Who knows, Maybe he's gifted. I have no idea.

(08:18):
But the point is, at about three years old, you
start to understand and recognize the things around you. What's serious,
what's not, what's goofy, what's not, what's funny, what's not,
what's entertaining, and what's not. And I can tell you this.

(08:40):
We've watched a pretty good amount of football in this house,
and I've watched games with them together. He's never one
time laughed at a football game the way he laughed
when cade mac tamara threw a ball off his offensive
lineman's helmet near the goal line and it went up
in the air like he's never laughed that hard in

(09:01):
a football game and literally turned to me at three
years old and said, why did he do that? And
I had no answers for him, like other than it's Iowa.
That's just what it is. And I could sit here
and barry Iowa and we could sit here and have

(09:22):
been poke fun at them and make a bunch of
jokes at their expense about their punter and about how
their defense is this and their offense can't do that.
But I've said this before with Iowa. Look, man, at
least they're consistent. At least you know what you're gonna get.
It's not this roller coaster of emotions. There's not this
they're gonna score fifty one game and then six the next.

(09:43):
There's none of that. None of that is happening. I
was going to give you what they give you every
single year. And it doesn't matter whether or not Kirk
Farnce wants to hire his son to be the OC,
but then like put a stipulation in his contract that

(10:04):
if he doesn't average a certain number of points a year,
he doesn't get his bonus or his acceler like whatever.
Like it doesn't matter what it is. This is who
they are through and through. And while we can all
sit here and go, yeah, but they're kind of I mean,
there's you know, struggling against Illinois State. It doesn't matter
the fact that this is what they look like against

(10:25):
Illinois State, or Illinois or Illinois Tech or Michigan or
Ohio State. It does not matter. It's consistent. And while
we sit here and poke fun and bust balls and criticize,
I'd rather just sit there and admire the fact that
this team does it their way. And you know, no

(10:47):
matter what, whatever the year is, whatever the season is,
you're gonna get Iowa football whether you like it or not.
Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio, at the Jonas Knox
at the Jonas Knox on Ax you can hang out with.
This is always on the iHeartRadio app. So we are
going to have the usuals coming up later on. We
do have another edition of Do You Care later on
this hour. We're also going to close up shop with

(11:09):
the scraps here. By the way, this might be the
final scraps that we will have for a significant amount
of time because Knox Locks are back next week with
the NFL. Right around the corner. So we are going
to have some fun here on a Saturday afternoon filled
with college football coming up. Next here though, from the
tiraq dot com studios, we are going to tell you

(11:31):
about how somebody in the NFL is very appreciative. The
problem is they're thinking the wrong guy. That's yours here
on FSR.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
We don't need to bring jonas in.

Speaker 4 (11:41):

Speaker 5 (11:56):
As everybody knows, we're the hosts of the award winning
Polly and Tony Foods Coach. But instead of us telling
you how great we are, here's how Dan Patrick described
us when he came on our show.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
What are you doing?

Speaker 2 (12:10):
We were in dirupting our promo. Yeah, you wasn't talking
about you.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
You took those clips totally out of context.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
Oh yeah, Well after this promo, I'm going to take
you out and beat you.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Let me put this into context.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Shut up.

Speaker 5 (12:23):
Yeah, anyway, just listening to the Paul and Tony Fusco
show on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts oherever you get your podcasts, Ye.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. So we do want to
touch on somebody in the NFL thanking the wrong guy.
But uh, here's another tradition of football this early in
the season, whether it's college or the NFL. So we
were talking a few minutes ago about how, like, Looksen,

(12:53):
you would just expect sloppy play in especially in college
football Week one, Like you can expect it a little
bit in the NFL. Well, but you know professionals, and
if you lose in the NFL, it doesn't hurt you
as much as maybe in college football does. And with
the expanded playoffs, I think that's going to diminish some
of it, because you're still gonna have more opportunities for
some of these teams to get in. But the point is, like, dude,

(13:13):
you would expect that these are going to be these
teams are going to be rusty. It's like doing something
for the first time you haven't done in a long time,
and they just get out there and it's live rounds
and things are flying, and it's like, Okay, you got
to figure it out. But one of the other things
that we don't really factor in until we get there
and go oh yeah, has reared its ugly head yet again,

(13:39):
Mother Nature with a quick reminder that right when you
think you've got everything in control, knees, you're right in
the nuts, just to remind you that that's still there
and that still exists, and that it's early in the
football season. Because we have got a weather delay West

(14:00):
Virginia and Penn State Morgantown weather delay, and if you
were watching on television, dark, ominous clouds just hovering above
the stadium. So this game is now in delay with
Penn State leading West Virginia twenty to six at halftime.
And then right when you were thinking, look, we'll figure

(14:22):
this whole thing out and Penn State's going to go rolling,
Mother Nature steps in and says, we'll take it from here, guys,
And this will be the first one, or this will
be the first one, won't be the last. There'll be
other issues, something else to pop off. There was a
weather delay in the Minnesota game on Thursday night. Be
on the lookout for any games in Florida those will
probably resulting the weather delay. So it is nice to

(14:44):
have college football back because you were getting it all
on display here in Week one, sloppy play, weather delays,
and a team losing that seems like an upset because
you got a little number next to the name, but
ultimately what turn out to be not as big of
an upset because they weren't what you thought they were,
which kind of makes the whole preseason ranking system that

(15:06):
much more pointless. Jonas NOx here, Fox Sports Radio. Coming
up here ten minutes from now, we are going to
discuss the return of something. If you were a big
fan of something back in the day, it is back,
but it's back for very controversial reasons that'll be yours
here ten minutes from now. You ever said a thank

(15:35):
you card to somebody and realize you send it to
the wrong person, right like, or you said thank you
to the person when you should admit it's like, hey,
I really appreciate you doing that, doing what Like that's
the problem with like sending people gifts on Amazon. Sometimes
they don't know it's from you, so you got to
like you're waiting around for them to like, hey, like

(15:56):
acknowledge they got the gift, and then you're checking and
as well shows it was delivered and it shows it
was delivered, and then they got to hit you back
up and you know, like, let you know, yeah, yeah,
we deliver the package. Here's the picture, it's on the
doorstep and all that. And then finally you just got
to feel like a horse's ass and reach out to
him and go, hey, so what's the deal. Did you
get that gift or not? Oh that was from you?
Yeah nope, they didn't say who it was from. Okay,

(16:18):
kind of ruined the whole point of it. But anyways,
so the Houston Texans are feeling real good about things,
Like they're feeling real good about things because they're projected
by one of these teams. It's going to make the
next move, take the next step. They're going to be rolling.
They've got everything lined up. They've got their coach, they've

(16:40):
got their roster, they've got the quarterback. They got it
all lined up. The Houston Texans are back and they
are rolling. And so Texans VP. Hannah McNair, the wife
of Cal McNair, was on the Ultimate Fan podcast and
she then inked the Cleveland Browns for all of their players. Now,

(17:04):
if you're wondering why the thank us it's because they
made this trade for somebody named Deshaun Watson, and the
Cleveland Browns gave him a bunch of draft picks which
turned into all these other players and all that stuff,
and so of course they're celebrating it now because Deshaun
Watson has hardly played and the Houston Texans are back

(17:24):
in contention, one of the dark horse Super Bowl contenders,
playoff team a year ago, won a playoff game, actually
beat the Browns in that playoff game, and so the
Texans are feeling great about things. The problem with Hannah
McNair's statement is, as she's thinking the wrong person. The
person you should be thanking is David Tepper because that listen,

(17:50):
that trade hall that you got back all those draft
picks that turned into all these different players, and you know,
like in a roundabout way, it was Will Anderson like
all like all that's awesome. But the guy you should
be thanking is David Tepper because he's the one who
made the decision to draft Bryce Young. And that's not

(18:15):
a shot at Bryce Young, whoever was going to end
up in that spot, whoever was going to be there
in Carolina after they moved up to number one, they
were going to be in for it, just like whatever
coach is going to step in there, and whatever coach
is going to take that over now it's Dave Canalis,
whoever that is, you're going to be in for it.

(18:38):
Because of David Tepper and how that place operates. That's
just a reality. And we've got enough of a sample
size and we've seen enough people get fired and enough
people move in and out of that building to know
that's just the way it works there. Like David Tepper,
if you believe the reports that are out there, overruled

(19:00):
the other people in Carolina who wanted to draft CJ. Stroud,
Like he's the one who was sold on Bryce Young.
If you remember we talked about it on this show.
After the Carolina Panthers moved up to number one, they
made the trade with the Bears to get the number
one pick, gave up DJ Morgan, which, by the way,

(19:20):
that trade.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
Looks worse and worse every day.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
I mean, we might end up looking at depending on
how Caleb Williams turns out, we might end up looking
at that Panthers Bears trade as way worse than the
Browns Texans trade way worse. But when they made the
move to go up to number one. If you remember,
all the betting odds had CJ. Stroud overwhelmingly the favorite

(19:49):
to go number one overall all of them. We're talking
like heavy favorite three four to one in some places
like which player is going to go number one overall?
Like it dramatically shifted to c J. Stroud because the
feeling was Frank Reich the quarterbacks, he likes to work with,

(20:11):
all all the intangibles, everything, like c J. Stroud fit
the bill more so than Bryce Young did. And so
the thought was Bryce Young's gonna end up in Houston
with the Texans if they don't trade out of that pick,
because the Texans one of the first pick. They ended
up not getting the first pick, but in a roundabout way,
they were gonna end up with the guy that you know,
maybe they were potentially going to draft anyways, because Carolina

(20:34):
was so in love with c J. Stroud. And then
as things went on and on and on, David Tepper
got to spend more time with Bryce Young, fell in
love with Bryce Young and decided that was gonna be
my guy. Thus Houston was sitting there too, and they
took c J. Stroud and the rest was history, Like

(20:57):
the guy, you should be thanking the Browns for all
those picks, because if you don't have a quarterback, as
Houston learned when Deshaun Watson decided he didn't want to play,
if you don't have a quarterback, you are screwed. And
so while all those players are nice, the fact that

(21:18):
you landed a guy who fit in perfectly and adapted
to the NFL the way he did, and whether it
was Demiko Ryans or whatever the system was there, that's
the one that changed the course and the trajectory of
your organization. It was c J.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Stroud.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
All those other players are awesome, all those players are nice.
Without c J. Stroud, none of this success exists. He
had one of the great rookie seasons we've ever seen. Like,
if you ask somebody, what's reason number one? While the
Houston Texans should be considered a dark horse super Bowl candidate,
who are they going to say all the players acquired

(21:58):
in the trade with the Browns or or the guy
they drafted number two last year? That guy was CJ. Stroud.
And that guy was sitting there because David Tepper stepped
in overruled everybody else on the staff and picked Bryce
Young number one overall. And I've said it, I hope
it works out with Bryce Young. I'm rooting for the guy.
I find it hard to believe he's that good in

(22:20):
high school, that good in college. Enough people in the
know all tell you how skillful and how special of
a player he is. I hope it works out for him.
But as I've laid out before, we've seen it. You
play for David Tepper, you're up against it. And you

(22:43):
could even argue David Tepper has helped out more organizations
in the NFL than he has his own, whether it's Chicago,
whether it's Houston, whether it was the Niners and Christian McCaffrey,
the Giants and Brian Burns. I think about this, Christian McCaffrey,
Brian Burns, DJ Moore, they were all members of the

(23:07):
Panthers drafted Like, Like what do they always tell you? Like,
you want to maintain your own, You want to keep
your own correct like, reward your own. They like every
organization in football all says the same thing. Yeah, the
goal is to reward your own. You don't want to
go out and spend a bunch of money on free agency.

(23:27):
You want to be able to develop players you drafted,
have them turn into special all Pro caliber players, Pro
Bowl caliber players, and then pay them and show everybody
else in the building if you work with us and
you produce, you get rewarded. And what do the Panthers
do McCaffrey potential future Hall of Famer, We're not interested.

(23:50):
DJ Moore, Pro Bowl caliber wide receiver. And then we're
not interested Brian Burns Pro Yeah, no, not interested. We're
gonna do it this way. Like it's not even just
Hannah McNair. There's a bunch of other organizations in the
NFL that should be Just sending David Tepper a card
and don't even wait for him to get back to
you to say, hey, thanks for the gift, Like, don't

(24:13):
expect it to be an Amazon situation. Just hit him
up and say, hey, just want to let you know
something's on the way. Little thank you from us to you.
We appreciate you working with us because you've done more
for our organization than you have for your own. Jonas
Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox at
the Jonas Knox on X is where you can find
the show. We are going to have a discussion about Listen,

(24:33):
if you are a fan or you ever wondered what
happened when little throwback, We've got it for you. In
the world of football, the problem is comes with some controversy.
That's yours here on FSR. But first for all the
latest from around the world of sports. A man who
I've got a bone to pick? Well, do you, Brian Femley?

Speaker 3 (24:52):
I want to hear about this, Jonas? What's going on?

Speaker 2 (24:54):
All right? So there's a channel, okay on direct TV
channel two to oh five. It's called the Game Mixed Channel. Yes,
and I'm a big fan of it because you can
throw that on, especially during college football, and it'll show
you like eight different college games all on at one time. Okay,
So if you're not, you know, rich, or if you
didn't grow up wealthy like you did ge and you

(25:16):
only have one television, if you only have one television
in front of you, it's kind of a cheat because
that way you get a bunch of other games going
on at once and you can all watch them on
one screen. It's awesome. And I go to channel two
five on DirecTV right now, and you know what I got?

Speaker 5 (25:32):
What you got?

Speaker 2 (25:32):
The Game Mix US Open channel because anybody gives a
crap about the US Open on a Saturday during college
football season, because I care about Van day, Zan, Schulp
and Draper in the third set, Hey, what's going on
in Diallo Paul? Or a doubles match between ram Salisbury

(25:56):
and Glasspool.

Speaker 3 (25:59):
You need you nailed all those pronunciations, Jonas. You can
really tell that you know your tennis, that that you
are a native of the sport.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
Fenily, Like, can these people get a clue? It's like like,
schedule this tournament some other Well, when are.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
They going to schedule it? Though? That The timing is
so hard because you've got college football going on essentially
the rest of the year. Then you've got some summer stuff,
but you got Wimbledon. You also have the French Open
in May. There's no great time, especially with the Olympics.
You want to avoid the Olympics in this summer.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
I've got the solution.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
What is that?

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Don't rid of dopet rid of tennis all.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
Against It's just why did I know you were to.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
Vanish like a fart in the wind just.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
Because you got cut from your JV tennis team as
a senior in high school? So what does it mean
you have to be ornery about the tennis and you
have to poopoo on it, and that's that's not right.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
Yeah, but you know what, family, At least I can
I can sit here and compartmentalize my emotions with just
reasonable reactions to the fact that this has taken over
the game mixed channel and stead of college football. It's disgusting.
I think, I don't like what is this?

Speaker 6 (27:03):
Like?

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Who's this other one? Cash and Galloway are up in
the third set over Boyer and Nava. They'll sound like
water companies, Like what are we doing here? Sucks man?
Those are some of the.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Best you talked about Cash in Galloway, that's one of
the most preem and the most dominant doubles team in
the United States.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
Sounds like an old WWF tag team.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Yeah, well, I'd love to see you do that sometime.
I don't want to, Yeah, I just want to watch.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
College football, that's all. If you want to do it
on Channel two zero five on Direct TV, fat chance,
tennis take it over.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Maybe that's a reality that is settling in with you, Jonas,
that the tennis is much bigger of a deal than
you want it to be and sometimes they say, Jonas,
the truth hurts, doesn't it?

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Okay, yeah, it definitely does.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
It's a blow the belt shot that truth. So I'll
tell you there is and I'll tell you what number one.
Georgia is sticking it to number fourteen. Clemson twenty to three.
They just finish up third quarter in Carson Ben the
Bulldogs quarterback two hundred twenty five yards passing one touchdown. Jonas,
you and Clemson, of course, is in South Carolina. You
had some time in South Carolina that you were working, correct, Uh?

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Yeah, of course, yes, you know one of the Well,
it's an interesting backstory.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
How did you get back home from South Carolina? There's
a story there.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
I drove. I took the U haul that I sold
my couches for to a Ford to rent, and I
drove back all the way back. Almost ran out of
gas several times because I was.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
So bro Did you hitchhike?

Speaker 2 (28:37):
Uh no, I nearly. I almost had to in New Mexico.
Though it's not great. I had to basically put the
car in neutral and find a hill just to be
able to make it to the gas station.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
It was bad.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
I mean, listen, there's a lot of stories there, But
who cares about my trip back from South Carolina when
I am inundated and thrilled with the fact that Sinner
and a Connell are in the second set there at
where is it roll on Garrows? Is that what it's called?

Speaker 3 (29:06):
No, they are not at rolling Garrows. That is the
French open that that is definitely not And I will
say we'll get to the o's opening really quickly here,
but first I want to get back to the college show.
But you're talking about that number eight Penn State West
Virginia game. We saw Brady Quinn there. He's on some
morning show here on this network. Two jos in a
cup of bro or what is that?

Speaker 2 (29:26):
I think it's like somebody said the morning Zoo Channel.
Somebody said earlier or was it last week? Like one
of the recent weeks somebody wrote in two bros and
a cup of hoe.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
On great, So who's the third wheel?

Speaker 2 (29:41):
Then?

Speaker 3 (29:42):
Who isn't the two bros? Is that you?

Speaker 2 (29:44):
Clue?

Speaker 1 (29:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (29:45):
Clue, I'm a solo act. I don't. I don't have
time for a couple of juice heads at six am
in the morning.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Yeah. But what people don't realize is that the movie
full Monty is actually a biography on your life.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
You don't really know anything about it. Yeah. By the way,
speaking of being on the gas, is this guy sinner?
Is that the guy who pissed hot tennis player?

Speaker 3 (30:04):
But do you know the story behind that? It was
all about a trace substance that was found while he
was getting massages. So it was a very faint amount
to which there is a debate did it really make
a difference. The problem is is that nobody knew about
this months after he did he pissed hot, and that's
why there's a disconnect. Why did they wait so long

(30:25):
to not say anything.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
Yeah, no kidding, Yeah, well, I mean look these testers
they go out and made. And by the way, the uh,
the trace amount argument is a legitimate argument, even though
people say no, no, no, steroids are steroids? Well not
really okay, like like not really. It's like you know
the a that guy's that guy's a drug addict. Otherwise
that well, because you know, he ate a poppy seed

(30:49):
muffin and if you do that, you you test positive
from marijuana. It's like okay, dude, Like there's there's different
degrees of testing positive and pissing hot I'm gonna I'm
gonna back this guy center, and I actually like his
chances here in this thrilling whatever round match against O'Connell.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
Yeah, and I will caution you, Jonas, because I know
you were talking about doing some backyard free for all
sort of like fist fighting as part as like an
underground competition and tournament. They do check for certain things
like blue choo, so you might want to be careful next.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Till they trust me. You asked my wife. Definitely not
in my system, very clean to that.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
Yeah, Oh my goodness. Well, that Penn State West Virginia
game happens to be having a lightning delay, and we
mentioned Brady Quinn because he was there. He's on the
desk there and there were these lightning strikes who are
coming out right behind him. Number fifteen Tennessee forty five
to nothing. They are in front of Chattanooga. Imagine paying
for that game. It's only at the half too. Number
twenty five Iowa. They have points on the board, Jonas.
Kate mcnamer has two touchdown tosses for Iowa. They're up

(31:55):
twenty six to nothing against Illinois State. Also over seventeen.
Oklahoma State has a ten to nothing lead over South
Dakota State. They just finished the first quarter Oklahoma State.
They were in the news because they wanted to put
a QR code on their helmets so people at home
watching could actually put their phone up to it and
then donate to their nil NCAA said no, thanks to that.

(32:18):
What they did allow is that, Jonas, you are able
to keep that bar code on your lower back.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
Oh there you go. Hey, I'm at the class act
Brian Finley, A little lower back tattooed joke here on
a Saturday, nice soap. All the kids out there listening
are enjoying that.

Speaker 3 (32:32):
Well done. I'm sure your three year old son is. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
I mean you're lucky. He doesn't know English.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
He doesn't know English. No, by the way, I will
mention one score.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
He's an oxicon man. What do you mean?

Speaker 3 (32:44):
Yeah, exactly. Jessica Pagoula the sixth seed. She advances at
the US Open today, And I mentioned this as I
get it back to you, Jonahs. Jessicaagool is important because
her apparents are the owners of the Buffalo Bills and
the Buffalo Sabers.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Cool.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Yeah, onto the fourth round, chigos.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
Look, I mean cool. I don't know. I mean, I
I'd rather watch a Sabers game, Like, I don't know,
I mean, give me a break. I'd love to see
on ice skatesh No, they're I could do roller blades
on ice skates, though I'm a real athlete.

Speaker 7 (33:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
By the way, when the music starts back over, Finley like,
we got to get to the scores here, all right, enough.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
With the grab ass and enough of the Yeah, it's
all my fault, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
It is Brian Finley with us here as always just
hijacking every single segment he gets a part of. Nonetheless,
it is Saturday afternoon here morning in some parts of
the country here on Fox Sports Radio. We're doing it
all live from the ti raq dot Com studios. We're
gonna have another edition of Do You Care coming up
here at about ten minutes from now. I did want
to mention this to pay off the tea's little radio

(33:53):
formatics for you here on a Saturday. So if you
were wondering, man, what was it like back in the day,
like the good old days when you would just watch
a game and like you wouldn't get real time updates
like if you went on social media, or something like that,
and you know, like you didn't want real time updates.
You just wanted to be able to look at stuff

(34:14):
and be able to watch a game after the fact
or just wait for the highlights after the game was over.
I mean, if you were a big fan of that,
don't worry about it, because the country of Brazil is
going to give you that opportunity. So apparently there's a
little bit of a back and forth going on between
Elon Musk, who owns X, and the president of Brazil.

(34:37):
They have banned X in the country because Elon Musk,
you know, how dare he? He wants to provide a
platform of free speech, and apparently Brazil does not like
the fact that some people are able to speak freely
about certain things, and so they've decided to ban the app,
ban the site from being used while in Brazil. How

(35:00):
does that apply to us? Well, you know, there just
so happens to be a game in the NFL coming
up on Friday, the Packers and the Eagles that'll be
in Brazil. And so if you were one of those
people who just wanted to know, like, hey man, what
was it like back when reporters couldn't like tweet out
what was happening in the stadium. Well, don't worry about it,

(35:20):
like they've stepped right up and provided that to you.
So a little bit of a throwback for you. Obviously,
it's not gonna affect the broadcast of the game. We'll
still be able to watch it. But if you're one
of those people who's like afraid to go on some
of your apps because you won't want to wait and
harken back to the good old days where you could
just like tape it and watch it afterwards, but you
still want to be able to go on social media
in real time and not get any updates. You will

(35:43):
not get those updates from anybody actually at the game
in the country because, as we said, yeah, you're not allowed.
That's been banned. So little throwback, but for controversial reasons.
And that's the latest on the NFL's first trip to
Brazil between the Packers and the Eagles. Jonas Knox here,
Fox Sports Radio coming up next here from the tire

(36:04):
Rack dot Com studios, we are going to have another
edition of Do You Care right here on FSR. Jonas
Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up top of next hour.
A little over ten minutes from now from the tire
rack dot Com studios. You know, we were mentioning how
there's one thing that you can always appreciate about college football,

(36:29):
you know, the fact that, like cay Man, even though
we all know that teams are going to struggle week one,
they're still going to be held accountable for it. Well,
there's another thing that I figured out we have to
love about college football. It is unforgiving, it is relentless.
It'll be yours here again a little over ten minutes
from now. A reminder, though, shortly after the show, our
podcast will be going up, so if you've missed any

(36:51):
of it, be sure to check out the pod. Search
Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcast. Be sure
to also follow, rate and review it again. Just search
Fox Sports Radio every get your podcast. You'll see this
show posted right after we get off the air.

Speaker 4 (37:04):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time
DMZ reports. Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big
stories from the last week. But Jonas, the real question
is do you care?

Speaker 2 (37:19):
And for that we turn it over to our executive
producer Bo Benson, who is back Bo thanks for stepping up.
I know late notice there's you wondering what happened to
Patrick sweek again fantasy well pe de violation.

Speaker 7 (37:34):
Yeah, he was doing extra study for fantasy football drafts.

Speaker 2 (37:38):
You can't do that. Yeah, so yeah, it's it's it's disgusting,
disgusting behavior and will not be tolerated on this show.
And just bo when when you decided to go back
to where you came from with actual recognizable talent and
Patrick takes over back here, I just want you to
be aware that we'll also accuse you of being suspended

(37:58):
for PEDS.

Speaker 7 (37:59):
Also, I know the game, I know how to play.
That's fine, no problem. This week, Eagles players aren't happy
to be headed down to Brazil to play on Friday.
DeVante Smith he said no comment when asked about how
he feels about doing it, and aj Brown listed all
the things that they're being told to do, which doesn't
sound very much fun. So, uh, they're they're not happy

(38:21):
to be doing it. Jonas, do you care about either
them playing in Brazil or the Eagles unhappiness about doing something?

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Yeah? I mean, like, why does anybody want to start
the season over in South America? Like, like I don't.
I really don't understand it. Like, I don't know why
anybody thinks that this is like a good idea. I know,
the NFL wants money and we want to do this
thing and and we get you know, we're trying to
grow the sport and we're trying to get everybody. It's like,

(38:48):
but why do I need to go all the way
to another continent to start off the season like it's
the first game of the year. And I know that
like logistically, well, you know, you can't do it in
middle of the season. But like, man like, we're like,
especially if you're the Eagles, you're trying to make a
comeback last year was disappointing. You're the Packers, you feel

(39:08):
like you're on the rise. Oh, by the way, we're
going to start you guys off in Brazil. Like you know,
there's going to be some effects afterwards. My guess is
they're probably also not thrilled because they didn't get, you know,
enough of a head start to be out there, because look,
if you want to go to Brazil, I mean, there's
a lot to like about Brazil, a lot, if you
know what I mean. So the fact that they can't

(39:28):
even really partake in any of that, but they still
have to go play the game there. Yeah, it's kind
of annoying. I get it.

Speaker 7 (39:33):
Next, Dodgers designated a tenor show hey Otani became the
first Major League baseball player ever to achieve a forty
three home run forty three stolen based season last night, Jonas,
do you care?

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Yeah, I mean this when we were on the air
when it was announced in the offseason that show hey
Otani had signed the contract with the Dodgers. I remember
David Vasse, Dodger reporter for the Blowtorch and five seventy
LA Sports came on and we were just talking about
how massive the contract was. We're gonna look back on
this and say it was a steal. It was a

(40:05):
bargain for everything he's brought the organization, not just from
a numbers standpoint on the field, but off the field.
He has been better than advertised.

Speaker 7 (40:14):
Next, in your one, the NCAA bor at Oklahoma State
from using QR codes on their players' helmets that would
have allowed people to don any money directly to the
general nil fund.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Jonas, do you care? Not really like anything like when
the NCAA steps in when it involves money. I just
kind of go okay, like consider the source, like what
we're supposed to take your advice? You know, it's like,
you know, like a homeless guy who gets in your
face and says, hey, man, you should get your act together.

(40:42):
Excuse you who you talking to? You know, we've been
talking about all the great things, all the great things
that the world of college football offers us. We're getting
another dose of it. I'll explain what that is coming
up here just a couple of moments from now. Jonas Knox,
Fox Sports Radio. You can find this show on the
iHeartRadio app. You can find us on hundreds of affiliates

(41:06):
all across the country as well. And wherever you are
making us a part of your Saturday afternoon, we appreciate it.

one o'clock Pacific, and we are doing so lot good
lot from the tire raq dot com studios tire raq

fast free shipping, free road as a protection, and over

(41:27):
ten thousand recommended installers. Tire raq dot com. The Way
tire Buying should be. So I do want to mention this.
We were talking last hour about how like you come
to expect certain things in college football, yet because everybody's
so fanatical about it, you just kind of forget all that,
Like you just kind of forget it all. And one

(41:49):
of the examples you know, was making is like, you know,
sloppy play, Like teams are going to be sloppy. It's
not going to look great week one. I mean, you
didn't get a preseason game. You haven't really played competitive
football in a long long time, months and months and months,
and so it's to be expected. Yet the way it
works in college football is that if you come out.

Speaker 3 (42:10):
And you struggle, and you know it looks a.

Speaker 2 (42:12):
Little bit off offensively or on special teams or on defense,
it's like, you know, like we acknowledge that, yeah, you're
going to struggle week one, and then when you struggle
week one, we still criticize it. It's kind of weird,
you know, like the first time somebody waits tables at
a restaurant, if they drop a plate because they held
the tray wrong, that should be counted differently than if

(42:37):
they do it in year three. But like we accept that,
we acknowledge that if you struggle your first day at work,
when you're on your own, it's different than you know
you're giving a grace period.

Speaker 3 (42:50):
Not in college football. No, we acknowledged that there's.

Speaker 2 (42:52):
Gonna be mistakes, things are going to happen, but we're
still going to be critical. And one of the points
I made was that's why you got to appreciate Iowa,
because Iowa. You get week one in Iowa, you get
Week thirteen, same Iowa. But they're just gonna struggle on offense.
They're gonna play really good defense, is what it is.
They're like the exception of the rule. And then all

(43:14):
of a sudden, Iowa sat there and heard all the
negativity from everybody being critical of the fact that they
had six points a half in typical Iowa fashion. And
you know what they've done since put a beating on
Illinois State. The score is now forty to nothing and

(43:34):
Cade McNamara has three touchdowns. I don't know if that's
a record in the history of Iowa.

Speaker 3 (43:41):
I don't know, Like.

Speaker 2 (43:42):
Maybe Nate Stanley or CJ. Bethard might have done something better.
I'm not quite sure, nor do I care to look
all I'll say this is Iowa football with a giant
middle finger to everybody who has been critical and made
jokes at their expense. Just for the record, Kirk Farns,

(44:03):
for the record, even though listen, you know, some suspensions
and all that stuff may or may not be there.
Just for the record, I just want to point it out.
I have had Iowa's back for a long time now.
Iowa Sam who works here at Fox Sports Radio. The
only reason we root against Iowa is because of him.
Other than that, I love the fact that they're going

(44:24):
to roll out what they roll out with every single week,
regardless of when it is, and you just got to
accept it. And instead they pop back up in the
second half of this game and go, you know what,
week won this, We're going to start slinging it around
a little bit. Our starting quarterback's got two fifty in
the air and three touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (44:47):
I mean, if you, like, you know, played the.

Speaker 2 (44:48):
Dog years ratio part of that, like that compared to
like another quarterback that's like seven hundred yards and nineteen
touchdowns in a game. So good for them. Iowa deserves it.
And that is your update on Iowa football for Week one.
Also should be noted George is putting a beating on
Clemson and Penn State in West Virginia are delayed. So

(45:10):
another week one to be expected, a weather delay somewhere
in the country. And that's what we've got, Penn State
West Virginia in Morgantown in a delay on Fox. Jonas
Knox here on FSR. Now, there was some interesting news
that came out earlier this week in college football, and

(45:34):
this is again we are highlighting the strengths of college football, right,
we are highlighting the traditions and what's great about college
football full on this first full Saturday of games, Labor
Day weekend in the sport. So it was announced earlier

(45:54):
this week that the SEC will provide player availability reports
for football, men's and women's basketball, and baseball this upcoming
season during conference games. So under the new policy in football,
SEC schools must provide availability reports three days before the game,
then daily, and a final one ninety minutes before the game. Now,

(46:18):
the Big Ten did this last year, the MAC is
going to adopt it again this year. And really what
this is is to try and create a comfort level
so that people know, hey, when we get to conference play,
everything's on the up and up here. We know gamblings involved.
We know that you know, people are really concerned about

(46:39):
you know, maybe some players you know, like players at
Iowa State and some other play. We know everyone's really
concerned about just transparency and everything being on an even
playing field. So we want to do what the NFL
has been doing for years. Here's your availability report. Will
provide you one three days in advance, then one daily,
and then ninety minutes before off, will provide you a

(47:01):
final one. And it's like, okay, sweet, sweet, Now everything's
on the up and up. And you know the best
part about all this, some fan base somewhere is still
gonna find something to bitch about. It is like clockwork,

(47:22):
Like you could literally show them everything that it's all
on the up and up. Like you could like show
them at all, like let everybody see behind the scenes.
You could be a TSA of college football screen everything.
You know what, I don't like the way you handled

(47:43):
that whistle. I'm gonna go ahead and have to like
put that whatever that stuff is on your palm to
make sure it like passes the test when you go
through TSA. Like like you could look at everything, like
use any kind of testing whatever you want, and it
would not matter because somebody would find a reason to
bitch about it. But that too, is another great thing

(48:09):
about college football. These fan bases are insane, Like the
Connor Stallion stuff at Michigan, Like people looking at this
documentary that came out and going, ah, see, we've got
our proof. It was like, hold on a second, this
stuff happened last year. Correct, And then after it came

(48:32):
out and they went in and quote unquote cleaned everything
up and got rid of anything nefarious, anything questionable. How
did Michigan respond after losing all of those quote unquote advantages?
What did they do? No big deal, They just ran
the table, won the entire thing. Yeah, but like that's

(48:57):
not good enough. No, No, this docum mentory has come
out and now we've got our proof. And now there's
some debate as to whether And it's like SEC schools
are coming out saying, hey, listen, conference play, we're gonna
do things on the up and up player availability reports,
you know, so that you know you're not getting the
shaft by the gamblers. You know that nobody's got their

(49:19):
hands in somebody's pocket somewhere. Nobody's pulling a couple of
strings like you, like we are on the up and up.
It does not matter because somebody's gonna complain about it.
Like you have to understand the DNA of a college
football fan. They are nonsensical and it's awesome.

Speaker 3 (49:43):
You know what.

Speaker 2 (49:43):
I don't like that we lost to your team. Oh yeah,
what are you gonna do about it? I'm gonna poison
your tree that's been there two hundred years, Like I.

Speaker 3 (49:52):
Like, I don't listen.

Speaker 2 (49:53):
I don't have this for a fact, but I'm pretty
sure George Washington planted that tree at Auburn and some
guy by the name of Harvey Updyke took poison to
it because he didn't like how they were disrespecting a
statue in Tuscaloosa. Like you can't make this stuff up, man,

(50:20):
Like you've got people who may or may not be
in disguise on sidelines in some places, You've got like
the whole Like you can do whatever you want sec
you could, like give them all the information they want.
It does not matter. Somebody will complain about it. It
doesn't matter because God forbid, we just lost. No, no, no,

(50:45):
there had to be something more to it. Like Ohio
State ran rough shot over Michigan for years, for years,
Remember when Michigan didn't play Ohio State during COVID, Oh
my god, Like even during COVID nothing was off limits.
Ohio State fans pummeled Michigan. They're scared, they don't want
to lose again because they know Hardball is gonna get

(51:07):
fired if he loses to Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (51:08):
They could not pile on enough.

Speaker 2 (51:11):
And then all of a sudden, the tables turn and
it's been like, I don't know, two thousand days since
Ohio State's beating Michigan. But it's not because Michigan had
like the better team or because Ohio State had some
meltdowns in those games and turn the ball over a
bunch or just like couldn't tackle or couldn't stop the run,
like none of that could be Why no, no, no, no, no,

(51:33):
some guy was stealing signs and here's your proof. Okay,
fair you catas guy was stealing signs. We'll get rid
of him. Let's play this game again. Yeah, now we're
gonna see whose boss oops. Like you can try and
make everything on the up and up all you want,
it doesn't matter. Fanaticals fanatical, and in college football, it's

(51:57):
unlike anywhere else. It's why it Listen. I've told the
story before. I did not get it. I didn't understand
it full disclosure. Grew up in southern California, the USC
UCLA rivalry. That's cute and all, but it's just like
it's not really like something that you think about a lot.
It's like, oh, it's UCLA us C week, sweet, Like

(52:19):
it's not like it doesn't. And then I went to
the South and started doing radio in the South, and
I learned in about fifteen minutes, Oh god, this is
a different level here, Like they really care like that.
Like there's real bad blood, there's real odd behavior over losses.
There's accusations. I mean, you name it, they've got it.

(52:43):
So I appreciate the SEC wanting to do this on
the up and up. I appreciate the MAC getting involved
the Big Ten last year. Hey, we're gonna let player
availability reports be had. We just want you to know
all of this is on the up and up. It
doesn't matter, man, not with these fan based is that too,
is what makes college football special. Jonas Knox here Fox

people are firing off all sorts of positive feedback here
on the show. All right, comeing up next here though,
from the tirec dot Com Studios, there's a team in
the NFL that apparently doesn't realize they're starving. They don't
realize they're starving, like there's like no food in the house,

(54:52):
like there's no reserves, like there's like they're starving, and
they still want to be picky about what they eat.
That's yours here at FSR. Jonas is counted today. Jonas Knox,
Fox Sports Radio. By the way, that weather in Morgantown,

(55:13):
good christ. I mean, hopefully they'll be able to finish
the second half of this game. I gotta be honest
with you, though, I wouldn't mind this game going on
a little bit longer. You know, let's run this into
the night as late as possible because it is it
is dark, it is wet, We got sideways rain, lightning

(55:40):
was in the area earlier. That is a problem, unbelievable.
So we will keep you posting on whether or not
that game. I mean, it's gonna get played. It's football, please,
But we have no idea when it's going to resume.
With Penn State up twenty to six at the half
and a weather delay there in Morgantown between the Nitney
Lions and West Virginia, let's go live to our I've

(56:03):
got a thought on the weather in Morgantown insider Chris
Prepheffie Lee.

Speaker 6 (56:06):
Yeah, oh hold on, Sime, sorry, I just caught one
of Rob Stone's papers all the way over here to
our studio.

Speaker 2 (56:13):
It's man, it's awesome. I just I just texted Brady Quinn.
I was like, I'm jealous. I'm a weather nerd, Like
I'm jealous, man.

Speaker 6 (56:20):
Well, yeah, we always have weather channel up on here
when you used to whoo to the overnights.

Speaker 2 (56:25):
Love it every morning. Every morning.

Speaker 3 (56:28):
I can see that Doppler radar right now. It is
so colorful.

Speaker 2 (56:32):
It's it's awesome. So we will keep you again posted
as to whether or not they get that game, the
remainder of that game in But uh, it is Jonas
Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. We are going to
get to a story in the NFL. By the way,
apparently somebody doesn't realize that there's no food left and
they're hungry. Apparently they're not aware of that based on

(56:54):
their handling of one player in the league. We will
get into that for you here coming up very very shortly.
I do want to mention this because Georgia absolutely decimated
Clemson thirty four to three was the final. Of course
you're going to have you know, nonsensical Clemson fans who
are going to be like, well, you see, Dabo doesn't

(57:14):
have it anymore. It's like, okay, dude, Like do you
know what you were before Davos when he got there?
Like do you know like I was there when he
first got there. And there were some people that were skeptical,
skeptical about the hiring of Dabos Swenny and his early results.

Speaker 3 (57:27):
I think he's done an okay job.

Speaker 2 (57:29):
And so like when he you know, he was on
a podcast or did an interview recently where Davos when
he was like, look, I've had a lot of opportunities
to go elsewhere I didn't want to go. He got
into it with a caller this offseason who called into
his coaches shown and basically said, well, you know, with
all the money you're getting, what are the results? It's
like and Davos when he said, look, as soon as

(57:49):
they get tired of me here, if they want me
to go, I'll leave. Like, but it's the idea we're
just going to dismiss everything the guy did previous is crazy.
It's like Ryan day at Ohio State. It's like people
like one and fired because you know, he hasn't had
success against Michigan the past three years. Like the guy
like he's hardly lost at Ohio State. Like I get it,

(58:11):
he's come up short against Michigan, but like, come on,
Like I love the nonsensical fan base, as I've said before,
but at a certain point, you got to take a
step back and go okay, okay, Like, we get it,
you're passionate, but let's let's cool down, have a cool
head about things, and let's really look at what we've

(58:31):
got in what in our coach, our program, and what
it either was before we got here. In the case
of Ohio State, Urban Meyer had him off and running.
So I kind of get that one. But as far
as Clemson goes, come on, man, like he's done a
hell of a job.

Speaker 3 (58:45):
It's week one.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
They got bludgeoned by Georgia, who, by the way, Georgia,
just want to point this out here, they've lost one
time in a thousand days. Just want to point that
out here. Georgia has lost once in the last one
thousand days. Like I think people last year we talked

(59:11):
a little bit about this during the course of the
regular season, where Colorado was getting a lot of the attention.
People were talking about Colorado, they were talking about coach
Prime him bringing back the program. They were also talking
a lot about Jim Harbaugh Michigan and all the other
stuff that went on with that and lost in all
of it. While Florida State was bitching and moaning about

(59:33):
not getting into the college football playoff, was the fact
that like Georgia went like three years without losing a game,
Like it's crazy, Like like I mean people like almost
like gay, we know they're great and all that stuff,
but like they won national titles and other Yeah, what
about like Michigan what it's like, hold on a second,

(59:57):
but they lose to Alabama last year in the A
in the A SEC title game, And like Florida State's
bitching about not getting into the playoff, and it's like, well,
like do you think Georgia kind of has a gripe too?
Like that was like they're one loss and it was
to Alabama and it was an SEC title game, Like

(01:00:22):
it was They're only lost in a thousand days up
to this point. Like and you go when you see
them dominate the way they do and it's almost like
they had to remind everybody like oh yeah, we're like
we're great, Like we're so caught up and all the
other like the the Dion stuff and you know, conference
realignment and the twelve team playoff and all that stuff.

(01:00:44):
And Georgia just consistently over the past couple of years
has been the best thing about college football, just consistently
last three years, and it's like totally goes unnoticed, like
we'd like almost like don't even like, uh oh yeah,
I mean like you almost take it for granted. And
so they come out and yeah they struggle early on

(01:01:05):
because again first week of the season, you expect all that,
and then just put a beating on Clemson and it
wasn't even close, like Carson Beck, like potential Heisman Trophy
winner like all like just wasn't even close. And you're thinking, man,
George is back. No, no, they've never gone anywhere. They had

(01:01:27):
one loss, like, they suffered one loss at an inopportune
time and it was their first and their only in
the last thousand days. And so I don't know what
this college football twelve team playoff is going to look like,
but I can give you a spoiler, Georgia will be
involved and it will probably involve a bye week early

(01:01:48):
on Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas
Knox at the Jonas Knox on X and you can
hang out with us as always on the iHeartRadio app a. Right,
So we are going to talk about a team in
the NFL who apparently they don't realize they're hungry like
everybody else knows it, but they don't. We'll discuss and
explain right here on Fox Sports Radio. But for all
the latest from around the world of sports, this man

(01:02:11):
is the Georgia of sports Update anchors.

Speaker 3 (01:02:14):
Is that one and only?

Speaker 2 (01:02:15):
Brian? Is that a good thing?

Speaker 3 (01:02:16):
Jonas swimw associate me with you, Georgia. I guess I
guess you're probably right, and let's go there because that's
a game that you were talking about. And yeah, Number
one Georgia. They took care of business thirty four to
three against number fourteen Clemson as Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck
had two hundred and seventy eight yards passing two touchdowns
as well. It was a dominant showing for Kirby Smart

(01:02:40):
and his Bulldogs. Right now top twenty five teams we're
still in a holding pattern, and we don't know when
we're going to restart this game or at least resume it.
There's lightning in Morgantown, West Virginia, hosting Penn State, the
number eight ranked Nitty Lines twenty to six at the half.
You can watch this game on Fox Television, but if
you go on Fox, you're not going to see it
because there is, as the guys were talking about earlier

(01:03:02):
in the hour, Doppler radar, and nobody knows whether like Jonas.
In fact, he chases around tornadoes in a in a
large van that you'll see him in there with Oh man,
Oh yeah, I gotta tell you.

Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
I don't interrupt you.

Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
No no, no, no, no no no, go for it.

Speaker 2 (01:03:16):
A great story.

Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
Yeah that. So my son also loves tornadoes.

Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
Okay, Jonas the son of a bitch. Yeah, we watched Twister.
He wants to watch it every night because he hears
the name Jonas in there and he knows that's my name.
So he loves it. So we went to uh uh,
we went to Chuck E Cheese. Just leave the like,
leave the the resume out of this. Okay, we went
to Chuck E Cheese yesterday, and there's like a little
like there's a car that you can drive on the

(01:03:41):
little kid section. There's like an older kids in a
little kid section. So he's only three years old. He
goes into this car on the little kid section, he
hops in it, he starts steering in the car, and
he never goes to that one first. He always wants
to go play basketball or throw the football.

Speaker 3 (01:03:56):
And he goes, get in, Get in, Papa, get in.

Speaker 2 (01:03:59):
So I try squeeze in as best I could, and
I'm like sitting on the edge with my feet hanging out,
and he's like, huh, tornado over there, and he's driving
the wheel and then he leans out the window and
there's like some guy playing with his daughter in like
the bounce house area, and he goes, hey, watch out,
there's a twister. And the guy goes, uh, okay, he

(01:04:20):
where's the break? Somebody get Jonas Like he's literally re
enacting lines from the movie Twister in this little van.
And it brought almost a tear to my eye because
I thought, you know what, we're gonna go chasing storms
and we get older, me and him. That's what we're
gonna do. Friendly Once you put that in your tennis
pipe and smoke.

Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
Well, when I thought you were you guys were all
about the movie Twister. I thought you guys were gonna
play the game Twister or you're out there. Oh yeah,
you show you show how flexible you are.

Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
If only you knew how creepy that sounded, if only
you knew. Good God, I think.

Speaker 3 (01:04:56):
I just drove this update into it and into a ditch.
You what I do here? Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
Man?

Speaker 3 (01:05:02):
Yeah? So anyway, at number fifteen tennis, he has a
fifty five to three lead against UT Chattanooga in case
you're watching that one, that's in the fourth quarter, and
UT quarterback nico Ia Maleeva has three touchdown tosses and
three hundred to thirteen yards, so he is doing well
in this one. Number seventeen, Oklahoma's eight seventeen to six.

(01:05:22):
They are leading against South Dakota State at the half.
We also have a couple of notable games that are
involving teams that are just outside the top. Twenty five
Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech. They are all square at twenty
seven with seconds to go in the fourth quarter. After
Vanderbilt was up at one point seventeen to three. Jamora

(01:05:43):
and Yukon. They are getting butchered here by Maryland forty
three to seven. There's two minutes to go in the
fourth cord. You can watch that game on FS one. Also,
Navy is trucking Bucknell forty nine to fourteen. And then lastly,
Joan says, we've touched on college football. Got to mention

(01:06:03):
this number one seat on the men's side. Us, what
are you laughing about? Why do you be respectful to
the sport of tennis? Oh? Yes, yes, because exactly how
you are. If you listen to the first hour of
the show. Nobody is more respectful of a sport than you.
Janick Centner is two games away from a sweep in

(01:06:24):
his third round encounter against the Australian Chris O'Connell, the
one seat Janick center. Also, the American Tommy Paul is
up five games to four in the opening set against
gap Diello, the Canadian the former University of Kentucky Wildcats.
So they're in the first set. They're both three setters
or excuse me, third round matches. So you got that
to sink your teeth into. And Jonas as I worked

(01:06:45):
the microphone back to you, I know you were talking
about Jonas in your Knox locks, And I just let
everybody know, if you really want to make money on
Jonas's betting picks, you just go whatever he does and
you do the opposite yea, and you rake in big
cash money.

Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
Yeah, and listen, most people would be insulted by that
because it was a put down. You definitely are thrown
out the insults today. So I hope you're proud of yourself.
So like those people would be insulted like that, I'm not.

Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
Well, It's true, like I'm a man.

Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
I accept the fact that I had a poor performance
last year, and so I do provide you opportunities. You
don't have to take my advice. You can go against me.
Either way you're gonna win, like I. I'm either gonna
win and you followed me, or I'm gonna lose and
you went the other way, and somebody's gonna win somehow,
some way. Whenever I'm making.

Speaker 3 (01:07:31):
Picks, I love the way you spun that genis.

Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
That's how it is. I'm not one of these candy
asses who does sports media like TV or radio or
has like some vlog or is on YouTube and they
make a pick wrong and then people call them out
for it. They get upset and take it personal. No,
you're right, I sucked last year. It's true, but it's
called accountability. You know, point the thumb, not the finger.

(01:07:54):
I wish you lived by those words. Family, Well, I
do not trust me, do not rely on me.

Speaker 3 (01:08:01):
I mean speaking of a guy you like yourself, who
you talk about thumb You have a thumb ring that
you're wearing. And I think you are probably the only
sports media personality and across the landscape of this United
States that does shows with a thumb ring.

Speaker 2 (01:08:17):
Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
Who else has the you know what to do?

Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
That thought hard on a guy? Well, I'd be like
who else?

Speaker 1 (01:08:23):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
Who else? Can't let it go? You know there's something
I did.

Speaker 3 (01:08:28):
I've been doing for years and I thought, you know,
why am I still doing?

Speaker 1 (01:08:31):
It?

Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
Doesn't make sense? And I just continue off like why not.

Speaker 3 (01:08:34):
Last Sunday, Jonas, I was in at Venice Beach, which
if you've been there in the last ten years, oh yeah, yeah,
the land of sleeping bags. You know, it's like you're
on another planet. But there was this one shop and
it had a sign and the first thing I thought
of was you, And I think about you a lot.
And I know that came out a little weird. Yeah,

(01:08:55):
but there was a sign that said by toe rings here,
and I couldn't help but think about you because you're
a guy that has been open about wearing thumb rings
and rings and all places.

Speaker 2 (01:09:07):
Well listen, I mean, hey, if there's one way to
make me feel comfortable, it's letting me know you think
about me quite a lot on the air. I'll tell
you that's a mission accomplish. Mission accomplished.

Speaker 4 (01:09:16):
Brian.

Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
That's there, he is. Folks. If you'd like to get
a hold of Brian Finley, you can on Twitter at
Jeff Dahmer. That's where you can find Finley. He will
take all your all your requests there.

Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
So all right, love you friendly, love you man.

Speaker 2 (01:09:33):
All right there he is the great Brian Finley. Hey,
we have a good time. What do you want from us?
It is Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. We
are going to have the scraps coming up here in
about ten minutes from now. Things in the world of
sports and beyond we have not had a chance to
get to they will be yours here on FSR. So
this is what I find funny about Joe Douglas and

(01:09:58):
the New York Jets and their hand the ling of
the whole Hassan Retic thing. So Joe Douglass came out
a couple of days ago with like the very latest
on Hasan Redick. You know, they made the deal. They
brought him in, and it's just like, yeah, listen, we
talked contract, he came here, he you know, did his physical,
you know, met with everybody, like, passed the physical, all
that stuff, and so we thought we had an understanding.

(01:10:18):
And then you know, respect to him, respect to his agent,
all that stuff. And so you're wondering, like, okay, so
like why isn't there a deal done, like you know,
Hassan Redick, Like why not get it done like you
would assume there's it. And it's like, well, you know,
we don't want to set a precedent, okay, a precedent
of what. Well, we don't want to like give the

(01:10:38):
perception that you know, you can just like not show
up and we'll reward you with a contract, because we've
got other players that are going to want contracts and
down the road, we don't want them to also do that.
And it's like down the road, huh, huh, okay, Like
at some point you just have to acknowledge, like, like

(01:11:01):
you may not like what the options are. It may
go against what you believe in, but desperate times call
for desperate measures, and you gotta do what you gotta do.
Like you think those people on the set of Alive
wanted to eat each other, Like when they got on

(01:11:23):
that plane and they're arguing over, hey, who's got the
better bottle of red wine and they're having like cheese
and crackers. Do you think at that moment in time
they were thinking themselves, you know what, man, love you, You're
my guy. So after you pass out and you're no

(01:11:47):
longer with us, what do you think in like hamstrings
or calf Like, do you think like that was like
a plan. No, they did that because they had no
other options. Like it wasn't what they believed in or
what they wanted to do, They just had no other options.
Like you may not want to take an uber, like
you may not want to walk to work, like, but

(01:12:09):
if your car breaks down, you gotta do what you
gotta do. It may go against every like Listen, I
don't believe in paying for rides.

Speaker 3 (01:12:18):
I'm not gonna walk.

Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
It's Okay, Like, I know you don't want to, but
desperate times call for desperate measures. Like if you're the Jets,
I know you don't want to set a precedent. I
know you don't want to like reward a guy that
doesn't show up to the building and all that, so
I know, but like you realize he's gonna make your
team better and so like if he makes your team better,

(01:12:41):
it's probably gonna save your job. So like, why not
go against your quote unquote precedent this one time? Even
it could open up the door to something else down
the road, Like why not go against at this one
time if it means self preservation? And they just no, no,
that's not even a thought, like eh, like like how

(01:13:06):
many times have you been driving around like you like
you want you're thirsty, you want something to you go
into a gas station, a liquor store like whatever it is,
and like, you know, man, I'm not I'm not crazy
about Snapple, but that's all they have whatever I'm thirsty,
it's fine.

Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
So you just like this, like that's what not your plan?

Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
You don't want it, but yeah, you'll you'll do it
because you realize it's better than the alternative, and it's
almost like the Jets are running on this like contract
and this this length of time there, this this period
of time, this landing strip that they're allowed, like they're
almost running on it, as if like, oh, it's never ending.
It's no, no, it's gonna end this year if nobody performs,

(01:13:47):
like if they miss the playoffs, everybody's gone. Rogers, Robert Salah,
Joe Douglas, We're all gone. Hassan Redick will make your
team better. And they're like haggling over a press and
that they have set, which look, if it's something that's
been implemented by the owner, then I can kind of
understand it. But if it's something to where Woody Johnson

(01:14:08):
is like, no, let me listen. I trust you guys
to make the best football Like the best football decision
is to have the best football team. And you're gonna
be a better team with a Son Reddick. And for
some reason, here we are days away from the beginning
of the season and they're still holding on to this
no no, no, no, no, we got to set a
tone here in the organization. Dude, you're not in a
position to do that because if you don't deliver everybody's

(01:14:32):
gone and still just holding on to it. It's like, God,
I'm starving, all right, Well all they all we got
is barbecue. Nah, sorry, I'm a vegan. Okay, well we're
not eating like after this, so like what are you thinking?
Like what do you want to do. It's like Joe
Douglass and the Jets just continue to hold on to it,

(01:14:53):
and for some reason everybody else around him is like no, no,
you don't understand, Like it's over after this and nobody
performs Hassan Reddick makes your teams better, But okay, we're
gonna hold on to the precedent. Jonas Knox here Fox
Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox
on X. Coming up next year, we're gonna close up
shop with another edition of the Scraps right here on FSR.
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up top of next

(01:15:17):
hour a little over ten minutes from now from the

first full weekend of college football action, the early games

this one from here, guys, and they got problems out
there with a Penn State holding onto a twenty to
six lead at the half. There so no word yet
as to whether or not or when that game will
be concluded, but they will have you covered no matter what.

is where you can find that. And a friendly reminder
next week for all you haters out there, is the
return of Knox Locks with the NFL season here Knox
Locks is back, so an opportunity for you to make
money either way.

Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
Winners want to win, well.

Speaker 2 (01:16:39):
Listen, if you want to win, I would recommend fading me,
But nonetheless, we'll see how it goes. I opened up listen,
last year, I was terrible, looking for better results this year.
So that'll be yours next week here on the show.
Right now, though, it is time to close up shop
with a little something we do called.

Speaker 4 (01:16:54):
This, Jonas, how could you not get to these stories?

Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
These are there scraps all right, bo Bens? And what
the hell have we missed so far?

Speaker 7 (01:17:06):
Well, obviously Week one of college Football's here the Morning
Slate wrapping up. Georgia absolutely trounced Clemson and during the
game there was a graphic that popped up, and I
believe what it said is that Clemson currently has zero
transfer portal players either in their starting lineup or even
on their roster. Could yet basically, Clemson refuses to play

(01:17:28):
college football in twenty twenty four playing college football in
twenty fifteen, and the results are showing for Dabo.

Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
Sweeney, that'd bean good.

Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
Listen.

Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
You know Jesse Ventura doesn't have a cell phone, You
know that refuses to get one. Just I'm not getting
a cell phone? Yeah, I kind of admire that. I
admire the people that are just holding on. You know.
It's like the guy who was riding around a horse
and buggy like twenty years after the first car was invented,
and then just he was so stubborn he refused to
give into the fact that the automobile was here to stay.

(01:17:58):
So he just became to stick with the gag like
why not like this? So hey, good for you, daboswiney.
We'll see how long that lasts for, but good for you.
Stick to your guns.

Speaker 7 (01:18:08):
You know what's funny about it is the presumption for
so long was that as soon as Nick Saban retired
that Dabo Sweeney would just step into that job, given
the debts where he went to school, I believe, and
all that stuff. And I don't even know if his
name was brought up at all when Alabama's job open
to this offseason.

Speaker 2 (01:18:26):
So well, I think that he's been and one of
the points that he made recently was like, listen, there's
been a lot of opportunities for me. I just don't
talk about him. And I actually do believe that because
there has been overtures for him, they just didn't go
public and it would make some sense. I mean, we'll
