And so what does it say that everything has gone
so horribly wrong that the Dodgers have careened all the

won at six straight games, seven to three over Texas.

Houston now two and a half games out of a
Texas team that was lost five straight narrow wins for
Seattle and San Diego. Detroit shut out the A's eleven nothing.
Athletics have lost five in a row. With the trade
deadline Monday, the Yankees got second baseman Luis Garcia from
the Nationals for four pitchers. Garcia has twenty three homers
seventy six RBIs this year. Yanks won two to one

at the Hubs. The Blue Jays picked up pitcher Jamison
tie On from the Cubs. The Rays acquired pitcher Freddie
Peralta from the Mets. White Sox nine to one winners
at Tampa Bay. The Texans signed veteran defensive end Gidavian
Clowney new Rams defensive end Miles Garrett will miss another
practice on Monday due to lower half soreness, according to
his coach, who says he is not concerned.

They're trying to win as much as possible every single year,

and just more if they spent more time, you know,
trying to make that make sense, opposed to punishing teams
who have a desire to keep good players that they've
drafted and developed in.

How do you do that?

I do think that the NBA slipped and fell into
a spot where teams are getting penalized for doing really
good work, and so I forgot to happen in baseball.
Well again, we're going that is part of it. But
again that like, I don't disagree with you Dodgers have
done nothing wrong. But what the Dodgers have, Like, when

you talked about the advantages that they have, you sort
of went to the advantages that exist in every sport,
same advantage that the Lakers have, the Knicks, the Kers, Well,
let's just.

List all of the LA and New York teams. They
have those advantages.

I think people can wrap their head around that, because
that's like getting mad at the weather. There's nothing you
can do about that. But they do have some advantages
that there is something you can do about. Fish Well, no,
I just there's the TV deal and the quirks of
how they ended up getting to keep all that money,
and then the other thing is and here's where maybe

the better question is why aren't other owners doing that?
I think the deferral rule is ridiculous, but the Dodgers
doing a great job of taking advantage of it. Look
at the year that it will be when this one
point one billion dollars in deferred money when it finally
gets paid out. Do you know that not one of

these players, not one of all the deferrals with the Dodgers,
and it's approximately ten players equaling over a billion dollars,
not one of them is going to be paid out
before for twenty thirty nine or twenty forty, and some
of them go almost all the way to twenty fifty.
I think that's silly, but that's not the Dodgers' fault.

Whatever rule is there, take advantage of it.

Andre Iguidala, Draymond Green Golden State Warriors is patently ridiculous,
since not just because Lebron James is well passed his
fortieth birthday, it is because, Kevin, what you joined in
Golden State was an already fully functional.

It was a championship squad with people who had been
playing together for a number of years, knew each other
inside and out. All you needed to do was come in,

My first one is, you know, there's news that Jadavin
Clowney is is going back to Houston. He's signing with Houston.
He was in Dallas last year. I played thirteen games
with Dallas, and I remember in twenty fourteen when Jadavion
was coming out of out of college and they kept

playing that one clip over and over again where he
got into the backfield and hit the running back under
the chin. And you know, when you're talking about Jadavion
Clowney and he's like a physical specimen, it.

Just never quite got there.

He's never had.

A double di He git sack year nine and a
half is the most he's ever had, and he did
that twice and it was like six years in between,

seasons where he only played four got hurt the rookie
year and then midway and twenty twenty only played eight games.
But for the most part, you know, thirteen fourteen, sixteen, fifteen,

numbers just didn't add up to the hype.

And I wonder what your thoughts were on that.

Well, the first thought that comes to mind because I
remember when Clowney when he was drafted and his pre
draft or a video montage was just the most elite
thing ever, and people looked at him and they were like,
this guy is going to be absolutely and completely unstoppable

at the NFL level. And he was good, but I mean,
it's kind of what you're talking about. He was never great,
and he never really measured up to the way we
talked about him before he was drafted. So a I
always look at drafts and picks and draft grades and
everything through that lens, but also sort of wonder what

The list is of players who have had good careers,
but they were not thought of as good careers because.

Speaker 1 (46:46):
We sort of assumed they were going to be great careers.
You know.

Speaker 2 (46:49):
It's kind of like the Reggie Bush complex. Yes, Reggie
had a really good career, but he wasn't Gail Sayers.
So we're like, oh, kind of disappointed. But way beyond that,
I have perceptions about why, Like, is Jada beyond the
right kind of intensity?

Does he love.

Speaker 2 (47:10):
Football the way some others do? I have questions about that,
but those are my initial thoughts.

Speaker 1 (47:16):
Yeah, he never really he was a flash here, flash there.

Speaker 4 (47:20):
Yeah, but the consistency you know, of some of the
grades of Miles Garrett, of TJ White, JJ White, Hell,
him and JJ was there together, Like, I mean, how
do you right? Like all the attention is on JJ?
You should And now I think that's the thing once
once That's why I think it really will be a problem.

Well that's my second one. I'll talk about that.

You want to hold that, Okay, all right, I'll go

I don't really think that Tony Romo shouldn't be fired.

I don't know if he's going to be fired, but
I know this. If he is fired, it wasn't because
of this.

It's always fascinating to me, and I get it. It's
kind of like the way you would treat your kid
versus someone else's kid.

We don't treat everybody the same.

The rules are not the same for everybody, and that's
sort of just being a human being. But if CBS really,
really really loves Tony Romo, they'll find a way to
work through what was clearly a serious situation, even though
it led to some funny video online.

They would find a way to work through that.

Speaker 2 (48:32):
And I believe that good people make big mistakes, and
especially when you make mistakes and nobody gets hurt, that's
even better.

I like listening to Tony Romo.

I know that he annoys some people, but I'm just
keeping an eye on this one because that's my main belief.
If CBS moves on from Tony Romo, it's because they
already wanted to, not because of a DUI.

Yeah. I don't think, you know.

I think Tony Romo's value to CBS is more valuable
than a DUI. I think people love Tony Romeo. Not everybody,
but people love Tony Romo in this role a lot
of people lik him more than his role as the

quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. That I read the reality
of it is, you know, there's a hump he could
never get over for a franchise who needed him to
get over the hump and gave him all the resources
and put everything around him. But stepping into the booths,
he's been a great He's been a breath of fresh air.
The knowledge he's brought in changed the way now quarterbacks

are talking about the game. They're really dissecting things in
real time, and you know, prognosticating plays and what he
would do and based on the defense, the offense is
gonna do this, and you know, eight eight out of nine,
eight out of ten times he's right. I thought that
I thought that brought a different type of energy that

we were seeing in the booth than we had before. Now,
not taking anything away from Troy aikman Uh and his
longtime partner Joe Buck, but Tony just had a different
little flair, different little style that I think it resonated
with people.

I'm just I'm scratching head a little bit with regard
to the way that this has played so far as
to us to why, but we'll see, well, we'll see

there is so much more buzz and juice going on

a panic attack the night before the game, Like I
just I couldn't possibly even imagine being in our pregame
meeting the night before and looking at our first fifteen
offensive plays and seeing a couple empties and seven step

drops in our first fifteen and I got Miles Garrett
on my end and Aaron Donald in a wide three technique.
I would I would die. I mean, it would be awful.
But I think this would be the first time we
had two twenty plus sack guys on the field at

the same time, which I think would be amazing. You know,
Aaron Donald hasn't played since twenty twenty three, but all
he does is workouts, Like literally all he does is
work out, play with kids, and workout why did he retire?
He got what he wanted. He wanted the Super Bowl.
R Okay, he was making fifty million dollars a year
back when that really wasn't the thing outside of the

quarterback position, right, And so now you're like, okay, well,
you know, four or five of my fingers are already
pointing in different directions. So do I want to step away?
I've done everything I wanted to do. But now having
a team that's a Super Bowl ready made team and
having probably it could go down as the greatest defensive

end to play. I mean, Miles Garrett is it doesn't
even make any sense. And I'm talking from a technical stamp.
I'm not just talking about the flat I'm talking about
the plays he doesn't get to the quarterback. I'm talking
about the plays, the run plays. I'm watching it, as
you know, from a technical standpoint, and I don't want
to smoke. And so if you pair those two up

on the same side, there is a problem that's about
to happen. And I don't know if people really understand
what that's going to look like.

It feels kind of like the WNBA is on the
verge of really missing their opportunity. You and I come

we would have never thought that the WNBA would become this,

that there would never be w NBA teams that literally
do fill NBA arenas, that there would be household names
in the w NBA, they would be true celebrities with
real salaries and the whole deal.

We didn't think that was ever gonna happen.

People accused it of being a subsidy of the NBA
and just there for equal time, but that's not what
it is anymore.

This is the real deal.

Holy Field now and for whatever reason, the WNBA, with
that opportunity that I don't think many people ever thought
they'd get. Instead of being able to get people to
actually become fans of teams like I mean, heart wired,

I want my team to win a ring like we
do with other sports. Somehow, this is like kind of
turning into the real Housewives of the WNBA, is what
it feels like to me. The whole league is totally
stuck in constant state of controversy politics, gender issues, social issues,

angry interaction, a lot officials that don't seem to no basketball,
and just a constant flow of drama that can be
good for a minute, but boy it's fleeting, and what
should be a real feel good league is kind of

(56:36):
just stuck in its feelings instead. I'm trying to figure
out all the reasons why. But man, you don't figure
out how to switch this a little bit soon, because
that is not a sustainable model.

Speaker 3 (56:48):
I think there is a lot.

Speaker 4 (56:52):
That there's a lot going on that people aren't because
of the popularity, because of the names and the growth
of the sport. Now there is a window into some
of the things that people didn't really foresee happening on teams,

like married teammates. Right, not that there's anything wrong with
that whatsoever, but these are new things that people who
watch team sports are now having to digest. Not saying
that that's any of the teammates or the women who
are in relationships, but being in relationship with your teammate.
I remember when guys in the locker room would fight

because they like the same girl. Imagine your wife being
in the locker room with you. How do you leave
the argument?

Speaker 1 (57:52):
At home?

Speaker 4 (57:53):
Went on the give and go, right, But what it
started to turn into is like, then this person cheats
on that, but how do you like? It started to
become something other than what it was, And that's how
great these women were on the basketball court. So now
it's like a love and it's like a basketball wives.

You know WNBA addition, because all of the pettiness and
the things that were happening, and then you know, players
not liking other players because the shine is too bright.
It just became like a powder keg yep of everything
but great basketball totally. And because of all the viewers
and all the people who were who came on the

last couple of years to be part of that, they
weren't expecting any of that lot of long term fans
that have been following the WNBA since the nineties. Then
maybe they they were and it's fine, but for the
broad fan, it's just like, what's happening now? They were
together and then they got well how do you get

how do you about a team they trade your wife?

Like?

This is why they say keep relationships out the locker room, right,
Not these type of relationships, but relationships like don't bring
if you'll dating the same girl, don't bring that into

I've been in though, I have had to break up
those fights. I've had to break up those fights. I

know what that does. So imagine your significant other on
the team with you and you do something out of
that like it is look man, you keep hey, got you.
But social media makes none of that private.
