Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
If you get in a car accident on your way
to dinner, you're not worried about the fact that you're
late to dinner.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Does that make sense.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
I'll explain why I just said that here in just
a second. What's up, everybody. We're broadcasting live in the
Fox Sports Radio studios.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
That's a from Salam. I'm Mark Willard.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
I'd say we have a new Master's champ, but we
don't have a new Master's champ. So we'll get to
that as well. But the NBA season, the regular season
is about to end pretty much while we're sitting here
talking to each other, and I want to talk about
the kind of season it's been.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Hi, my friend, how you doing. I'm good, brother, How
you doing? I'm doing fantastic. I am doing fantastic.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
I am fresh off of a State of California wide
drive with two of my three children because the middle
one is seventeen and she's starting to look at colleges
and that's a moment. And I actually need to tell
you about one of the places that we went this week,
because that place happens to be San Diego State University.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yeah, we showed up on what's called Admitted Students Day,
but we didn't know.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
That it was admitted students Day because she's only a junior,
so she's not admitted yet.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Is damn party? Dude?
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Hey hey, it's like, yeah, no it is. But I
mean like they put on a show.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
It's a lot of people in red shirts with big smiles,
and they were organized and it was just all intuitive,
and I was like, this is a place. Not that
I hadn't been there before, but I just say that
we looked at four or five places throughout the week.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
And I think that they put on the best show.
That's what I think.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
I mean, it's a fine institution of higher learning. But
you also can get a degree in socializing. We'll send
you into the workforce, well adjusted and ready for both sides,
all work.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
And no play.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Well rounded, very very well rounded.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
That is how I felt about San Diego State University,
even though I've been there before.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
But she hasn't. But her eyes got big.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
I's got some bring it up to ask if you
can get me a discount of what.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
San Diego State University.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
What's her major?
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Don't even know yet, she has not declared it. This
hour we haven't even applied yet. Is not business or nursing. No,
it won't be either of those things. I think it
might be more of a liberal art.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
That's my kiss.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
I may be able to make some casts.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Okay, I would like that anyway. Anyway, how you doing,
my man?
Speaker 4 (02:58):
I'm good, man, I'm good.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
So before we left on this trip, I got to
tell you I was at that game on Tuesday night.
And you're gonna say what game on Tuesday night? Because
it wasn't a big game. It wasn't a game that
mattered that much, but it ended up getting a whole
lot of headlines because it was sort of just an
end of the year deal between the you know, trying
(03:21):
to get healthy Golden State Warriors and the trying to
get a draft pick Sacramento Kings. So these two teams
played basketball on Tuesday. Steph Curry was out there and
he's trying to do some things. And you know, sometimes
when you watch a game on TV, you're super dialed
into what's going on because they've got the announcers and
(03:41):
the graphics and people are sort of like guiding you
through what you're watching. But if you're there, there's a
lot of distractions going on, right We got popcorn, We
got people asking for more popcorn.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
You know, you got people who are.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Like, I'm sorry, I had to go to the bathroom,
could you stand up so I can get back to
my seat.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
These things are going on while the game is going on.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
So it actually I had to kind of get in
the car and get home before I realized what King's
head coach Doug Christy had done. I imagine you saw this,
but essentially, the Kings had a few guys get hot
from three, and they were threatening to do the unthinkable.
(04:27):
They were threatening a from to win the basketball game.
And I wasn't tapped in on the Kings and standings.
Who cares. But I got home and I looked it
up and I went, oh my god, they're tied with
two other tank of oners.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
So this game, little did I know, was a big
ass game.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
It was a big game. And so Steph, I'm sorry,
not Steph. Seth Curry kept going to the free throw
line in the fourth quarter. My daughter even asked me
at one point what happened? Why did he go to
the free throw line? Because we were watching the people
with the ball and Seth Curry wasn't anywhere near the ball.
I said, they must have fouled him away from the ball.
(05:12):
I didn't even know what the hell had happened. Little
did I realize that they basically started doing hack of Seth.
I can only I can only think that they weren't
doing hack of Steph because that would be too obvious.
So they're like, foul the other guy. He might actually
miss a free throw. Probably not, but he might, and
(05:33):
actually he did. Didn't matter. Bottom line, Warriors won the
basketball game. Kings got what they wanted, Warriors got what
they wanted, and then after the game we were left
to talk about it, and the NBA was left to say,
there's an investigation that will.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Now investigation launched, the old investigation.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
I thought that was a great exhibit a of what
has happened in the NBA this year and what do
we do about this?
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Who cares?
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (06:17):
This this is the So this is the point I'm at.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Okay, talk to me, right, So.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
When you look at the standings, and let's go league standings, okay,
and I'm just gonna go down and order not Western Conference,
not Eastern Conference League, Okay. See San Antonio, Detroit Boston, Denver,
(06:45):
New York, LA, Cleveland, Houston, Minnesota, Atlanta, Toronto, Orlando, Phoenix, Philly, Charlotte, Miami, Portland,
the Clippers, Golden State. Golden State is bringing up the
(07:06):
rear tenth in the West at thirty seven and at
thirty seven and forty four correct anything below.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
That, who cares.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
So there's roughly one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight,
nine ten teams below there. I really don't care what
any of those teams do. I know you do, because
I don't want them to disturb my viewing pleasures heading
(07:39):
into the playoffs or in the play in I actually
look forward to the play in games. I think it's
I think it's pretty awesome. So I don't care what
the Kings are gonna do. I hope the Utah Jazz
have their moms, all the players' moms come out and
play today. Not that it would move our state ending
(08:00):
unless you know, we'll see what's going on.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Like no one's playing starters today.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Actually, very very big games for the Kings and the
Jazz today because whoever loses, well, if one of them
were to win, they would move themselves out of the
all important fourth from the bottom brands. Right, it's a
very very important slot actually, as it turns.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Out, so in the days of coming down the stretch.
You know, when you look at the Lakers and the Nuggets,
they're competing for the third spot, right, Lakers have locked
in the fourth seed right now. Now, if the Nuggets
(08:45):
lose today to San Antonio and the Lakers beat the
Utah Jazz, we move up to three. We own the tiebreaker, right,
We have the tiebreaker against all the teams we were
competing against because we've won the season series against all
of them.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
But didn't you just hear in the sentence that you
just used, Why what I'm saying is important?
Speaker 4 (09:10):
Nah, it's not important.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
It is important.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
It is because the Denver Nuggets stand to fall from
three to four, and a piece of that puzzle is
whether or not the Lakers opponent tonight is interested in
the basketball game.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Yeah, but the thing is the thing you can get
the thing yeah, that really matters that happens during the
course of the year is the head to head series. Sure,
especially in the West, right, you sure throw them three
four times? Like you you that's what you focus on.
You can't wait till the last game and be like
Oh they're not playing nobody right, like, so you you
(09:49):
really have to focus on That's that's what makes those
games more important doing the.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Year, no doubt. However, no one's waiting till the last
game to say this. And I know, I know you've
noticed that, especially in the last two weeks. It's literally
like all the games are thirty point blowout. Yes, yes, absolutely,
you're noticing that if the if you're a good team,
you score one hundred and fifty points per game. If
(10:16):
you're a bad team, you score one hundred and thirty.
Defense left town in February and it hasn't come back.
What we're and I know that this is getting into
the weeds, but it matters. What if in that Warriors
Kings game I just described on Tuesday, what if I
(10:38):
bet on Seth Curry to go under six and a
half points.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Oh, then that's that's that's you problem now, No, but
it's not.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
It's not because what we're really talking about at a
fundamental level is the legitimacy of the sport and that
should matter to the top of the bracket as much
the bottom.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Yeah, but if you if you really, if you're looking
at it now, the thing with the NBA is.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
These teams can do that.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
These teams can go out and they can do all
of this, you know, tanking and posturing and doing all
of that, and look up and Milwaukee has the number
one pick in the draft, right like, because it's not
like the NFL worst record, first pick, so you can
(11:31):
do all this tanking and all this. Now, the great
thing about this year and you don't get this this
year all.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
The time, there's.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Ten there might be right right, Like, they're guarantees surefire,
at least ten picks coming out, probably closer to fifteen
that can come in and get and get to work.
Right now, I'm out of college, coming out of Ncuba
or from overseas, So this is this is a talent
(12:07):
rich draft.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Now we don't always get that.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
Right, but you know, you look at the draft when
Lebron came out, You look at the draft when when
Kobe came out, Like, there's certain drafts that you can
point to and be like, oh wow, all of those
guys went, all of those guys became something that became
a whole nother era of the NBA. So this has
(12:32):
the potential to be an era draft. So teams are
losing their minds. Yes, and not in the hopes of
getting the first pick, just the best pig, just the
best pick they can get.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
But that all counts.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
So like, as you said, you can do all of
these things and you're still not guaranteed number one, but
you are guaranteed number four or five, and that matters
this year, and you know some years it'll matter more
than others. I don't think it makes it any less
of an issue. As long as you are incentivizing in
(13:10):
any way moving up the board for losing, then you're
going to arrive where we have, which is questions about
the legitimacy of your games. And that has spider legs
on it. E. That's not just about like I don't
care that the Wizards are bad. That has implications up
and down from what the fans are spending to be there,
(13:33):
to what's happening on the gambling front, to all of
the different aspects to what players are being asked to do,
whether it's just go foul somebody on purpose, even when
you're ahead and the guys are really good free throw shooter, Like,
there's so many things to me that come into play,
Like you're going to get a class action lawsuit. Honestly,
(13:58):
if you keep this up, because if I I'm a
fan and I start seeing this all the time, and
I start seeing you doing Harlem Globetrotter's Washington General stuff
out there on the floor, well, I'm gonna ask for
my money back.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
You can't get the money back.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Not yet, but I can if I get eight million
people to go to the court with me.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Like that's a problem.
Speaker 4 (14:23):
Eight million people across the league are for a specific.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
Fan base, all the fan bases, and then you'll have
to be able to prove it without a shouto o
of a doubt. And I'm pretty sure that's impossible.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
To Still don't want to have to go to court
to fight it, even if I'm gonna.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
Win, I got it. But if you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
If so, the easy question is, Okay, we'll save your money,
don't come to the game, right, that's the rebuttal to
something like that, you.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Why wouldn't Why wouldn't you missed it? No, but why
wuldn't you just attempt to fix this?
Speaker 4 (14:55):
But they are trying to fix it.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
No, we went over that two weeks ago. They came up.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
The teams are trying to fix it. They don't want
to be they don't want to be here next year.
They want to get one of these guys. They want
to get one of these guys. And you know, look
at some of these markets. Milwaukee's not gonna get any
free agents. No one's going there for whatever reason. Chicago
can't attract a free agent to save their life. New Orleans,
(15:22):
no shot, Memphis, Sacramento, no one I grew up there,
nobody's definitely going there. And and right, no one's going
to Utah, and no one's going to Indiana or Washington.
And free agency, that's that's off. That's a that's a
non starter. Sure, And so your only real hope is
(15:44):
too homegrown. You gotta grab someone you think it'd be
a megastar that attract other stars, right, that's that's It
was hard enough for Lebron to get people to come
and play with him in Cleveland and he was at
the top of the league.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
You actually got to do it more than once, though,
You do you do?
Speaker 4 (16:03):
You do?
Speaker 2 (16:04):
Like san Antonio got Wemby and then they also got Castle, Yes,
and then they also got Harper and then.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
And then and then and now and now. But that's
how until that formula change it. That is now the blueprint. Wow,
we saw what Philly did, so you got to make
it even harder to right. But what you gotta do
is it make it has it makes every team now
look at their front office because now teams have to
pay attention. Right, what what Brad Stevens and and Joe
(16:31):
Missoula and what they're doing in Boston.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
That's how you do that.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
What Sam Presty is doing and and and Okay, see
that's how you do that. What they're doing uh and
and uh in San Antonio, that's how you do that.
That's how you become what they are now. And if
it takes three years. I hate saying the whole process thing,
(16:56):
which is crazy, but the way this, especially with the
second apron, now there is no you can have both.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Yeah, so you can't have both, but then you got
to make it even harder for that to work.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
That's that's my that's my opinion. I got to I'm
just playing devil's advocate. I'm sure we're sure both sides
of it for sure.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
And by the way, it took one of the few
people that has the standing and the mouth in the
league to really head to a press conference and call
it out, which is what happened after that Warriors Kings
game on Tuesday. We'll play for you coming up next.
What Draymond Green said about this react to that. We'll
get Steve Disager in here in about ten minutes. The
(17:34):
Masters did not have a new champion as a repeat champ,
so we're gonna get to all of that as well.
Glad you're with us tonight. That's it from my markets.

So did you hear Draymond Green after all of this
on Tuesday? No, give it to me, fire away. Here
it is.
Speaker 7 (19:05):
I get fine when I do wrong, Just fine, people.
You know we love taking money from players. Keep fining
on the teams. I've seen two fins and we all
know everybody taking. But you've seen two fins. You know
it's players snatched that money in heartbeat. Why isn't it
the same? So it's funny, you know we can I
(19:26):
answer that please because the commissioner works for the owners. Well,
sure that's the difference. Sure, that's the difference. It's easy
and it happens a lot in the NFL. Well, Roger
Goodell should do something.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Hey, hey, hey, how many times have you busted into
your boss's office and find them for being late, or
find them for saying something that they weren't supposed to do.
It's hard to do that. In order to really come
down on owners, the majority of the other owners have
(20:02):
to agree and be a part of that. Allow what
happened to Donald Stirling, right, they came together and said
it wasn't Adam Silver, it was They came together and
was like, okay, this is a bad look. This is
this is going to hurt more than it and he
best believed they were all friends. All the owners are friends,
they you know. But they came together and was like, okay,
(20:26):
that's what forced the sale of the team. So unless
the other owners, all of those people that I mentioned
above the line, the other twenty teams that are vying
for playoffs, unless they could come together and collectively say yes,
(20:49):
we want to implement this to find other teams and
owners knowing that they may find themselves in that situation
in a couple of years. Don't see it happening. But
of course, if you kick somebody in the balls, or
choke somebody from behind and drag them the length of
(21:09):
the court, or if you airplane, somebody into the into
the stands, then yeah, you're probably gonna get a fine.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
I mean, I get what you're saying, but I get
what he's saying. I mean he's bringing up what for
me as a fan, is issue number eleven in the
whole thing. He's not wrong, but on my checklist, it
doesn't make the top five by any stretch.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
But like even the stuff that you.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Just said, what, what do they say when they find
a player? Why, Like if you say, oh, this is
what happened on the court and the NBA goes, well,
that's a fine. If somebody said to you, like a
arrived from Mars and said, why, why is that a fine?
Speaker 1 (21:54):
What does the league always say?
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Or if they suspend one of their own players, what
do they call it?
Speaker 1 (22:02):
They call it conduct detrient instrumental.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Are you telling me that this conduct isn't detrimental because.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
If you do, you're wrong.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
Like, there's no question detrimental to the team, it's detrimental
to the league.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
Then you need a collective that feels that way.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
They do that, the collective fans who deal that wall No, no,
yeah they do. I'm not talking about the fans, fans
not making decisions here. Well, just like we're not making
a decision on winsdeve Di Segert can come on or not.
I thin't got nothing to do with me.
Speaker 8 (22:40):
Hello, gentlemen, and a good evening to you. I'm just
writing down some stats as games are going final in
the Eastern Conference final night of the regular season. How
about this one from the Washington Wizards. Yes, they lost atleeway.
One writer points out that to open the season, the
Wizards lost fifty of their first sixteen games, and now
(23:02):
to close the season, they have lost twenty six of
their last twenty seven. All the Western Conference teams are
about to start their regular season finales, including the Lakers
hosting Utah. The question remains Denver, currently sitting third in
the Western Conference, will the Nuggets be the three seed
(23:23):
or will the Lakers, who are a game back. Lebron
James is starting for LA tonight. Coach JJ Reddick says, yes,
they'll be monitoring the Nuggets game against the Spurs as well,
but we're going to quote control what we can control
going for the win tonight against Utah. He also says,
Marcus smart starter. This evening will be on a minute's
restriction in his second game back and coach Reddick said,
(23:47):
no player will go to heavy minutes tonight past the
low thirties, say in this one we have more basketball
in a moment, but we do have a Masters champion,
and it's Rory McElroy for the second straight year. Scotti
sh Effler finished in second place, one stroke back after
a final round sixty eight. Justin Rose did make it
interesting for a while. He was one of the guys
(24:09):
with a two stroke lead at one point today that
evaporated around Amen Corner and Augusta with a couple bogies
and a three put par as for Scheffler, number one
player in the world, he would have been in position
to shatter the Masters record with the largest thirty six
sole comeback to victory in history because he was twelve
(24:31):
shots behind going into this weekend. He was two behind
as he approached the turn of the final round, ran
off eleven eleven straight birdies, eleven straight pars no birdies
in there, and therefore could not quite make up ground.
But I mentioned Justin Rose, this guy's forty five years old,
was trying to become the second oldest Masters champion. They
(24:54):
kept saying it that Jack Nicholas forty years ago in
nineteen eighty six won at age four forty six. Wow,
and he had an Improbably he Rose had an improbable
birdie after the shot out of the trees on the
seventh hole. Today, three straight birdies there to close out
the front nine, got the lead, and then a shot
to the right, well to the right on the eleventh
(25:16):
did not save par there t shot on twelve was
long chip that just flat didn't reach the green. Looked
like some of us, if I'm allowed to say that,
and that led to another bogie. And then a long
eagle putt on thirteen ran by the hole, missed the
birdie putt as well, so Rose tied for third, two
(25:37):
back Cameyong also tied for third. Now to the NBA details.
Toronto has just won to end their regular season, beat
Brooklyn one thirty six one one. Nets didn't put up
a fight. Didn't see that coming the Raptors, see, we
thought going in in the East, three different teams had
a chance to clinch the number six seed. Avoid the
(25:58):
play in. Hey Toronto wins, they get the sixth seed, right, Nope,
the five seed. The Atlanta Hawks have lost at Miami
so the Toronto Raptors in the first round as five seed,
will be facing Cleveland. The Washington loss that I mentioned
was at Cleveland. The Boston Celtics with under two minutes
to go or up one eight one oh four against Orlando.
(26:19):
Everything else from the early window of games is a
final that includes a Detroit victory at Indiana. The Pistons
finished sixty and twenty two. The one seed in the
Eastern Conference could be finishing four or five games ahead
of the Celtics. As for Orlando, yeah, they were one
of those teams that kind of needed help to move
(26:41):
up to the sixth seed. They needed a Toronto loss
for example. So we've got play in starting on Tuesday nights.
The NBA was off last night. By the way, play
in tournament starts Tuesday, first round of the playoffs, like
I mentioned Toronto versus Cleveland that begins this Saturday. The
play in tournament is Tuesday through Friday of this week.
And the way it goes for those unaware. In each conference,
(27:03):
the number seven seed will host the number eight. That
winner immediately goes to the playoffs as the seventh seed.
The losers of seven verses eight will get one more
chance to get in hosting the winner of the nine
versus ten matchup this week. If you lose the nine
versus ten matchup, I'm sorry. You're out immediately. We don't
want to see you anymore. Sacramento coach Doug Christi is
(27:24):
due to return next season. Draft lottery is May the tenth.
There are multiple reports that Christy. I believe it was
a three year contract, so I believe he still signed
for next year and know they're not paying him off.
And I don't know. I thought I saw some Sacramento
games this year.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
But he'll be back, yep, yep. No reports yet as
to why, just that he will work.
Speaker 8 (27:48):
So if Sacramento loses its finale and there it win,
I don't know. They seem to try really hard. It
could be sixty losses for them for the season. Utah
has that finale the Lakers tonight. If Utah is defeated,
that would be sixty losses for the Jazz for the season.
As for Major League Baseball, the Sunday Night ballgame at
(28:09):
Atlanta has the Braves up three nothing on Cleveland bottom
of the fourth Texas and Jacob de Grom beat the
Dodgers in LA five to the lost to Roki Sasaki,
who continues to STRUGGLERO go, look, just cannot throw strikes.
It's as simple as that. Four innings, six strikeouts, Okay,
through some strikes, five walks as well. That is a
consistent problem has been since the start of spring. Dodger
(28:32):
record is eleven and four. Arizona and Baltimore each got wins.
Seattle and San Diego as well. The Padres beat Colorado
seven to two. Padres record ten and six after a
four game sweep, but starting pitcher Nick Pavetta left with
elbow stiffness. Ty Gibbs, the NASCAR winner, back to.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
You phenomenal stuff, Steve, and you guys can connect on
this one as well. I just saw this graphic come up,
and so I wondered if you guys wanted.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
To take a hack at it.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
This is assuming the players that are on this list
also do suit up and play in tonight's NBA action.
But what would you both guess is the number of
players with an opportunity as we sit here today, with
an opportunity to play in all eighty two games this
year five in the NBA having play five, I can't
(29:25):
even consider like Steve's answer better just laugh.
Speaker 8 (29:28):
This is the NBA we're talking about.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Yes, that's about okay from your say six.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Yeah, can't be and I can name them. Go ahead,
Desmond Bain, Orlando Michale Bridges.
Speaker 8 (29:44):
Will he get a few seconds today.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
Dante Devincenzo, Yep, he's starting today. Uh well, this was
eighty eighty one and this is eighty two.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Okay, Jake Larevia, that's true. Bruce Brown that one, yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
That is also correct, Jay Huffy.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
These guys aren't heavy minute guys. And then one more
Toumani Kamara. I don't know who that is, but he's
played every game, played every game. Yes, but the Blazers
that no one has seen play on television.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
These are all accurate numbers. It might blow you away
to know that the number is eighteen.
Speaker 8 (30:26):
Whoa really that does.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
The number is eighteen? However, it pains me that that
blows you away. That's not a big number.
Speaker 8 (30:37):
Well it's the thunder. For example, had everybody sitting pretty
much on Friday, and ten players were listed as out
for tonight, and I know that they already clinched the
one seed, but can I just say out loud you're
not playing at all for a week and a half.
Is it really so taxing on these people who didn't
play eighty two games in the first place on your
(30:59):
roster to not be able to play a minute at
the end of the season.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
And not taxing although they would get ripped if they
got hurt they you know.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
So that's what you don't want. You don't want the
other side of the coin.
Speaker 8 (31:14):
I'm just saying, we have this discussion in reverse every
NFL season. Do you rest people in the final week
of the regular season when you're going to get a
bye right after that? And that has bitten teams where
football players sit two weekends.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
In a row, no question.
Speaker 8 (31:30):
And here in the NBA we're actually saying, I wish
I could sit the last five games of the season
and then sit out another week while I wait for
the first round to start. That just is crazy to me.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
How many players we have in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
I'm doing quick math, and I feel like it's somewhere,
just maybe in the neighborhood of fifteen fifty to five hundred.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
And NBA oh yeah, four for fifty, I believe.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Yeah, So fifteen players per team.
Speaker 8 (31:53):
And what happens Saturday, we had one hundred and sixty
eight out. Yeah, one hundred and sixty eight players in
your league chose not to play.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
Or their teams did.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
But that's your that's your Your percentage is well below
five percent of the league that plays every game, well
below five percent.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
Even the dog is upset.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
The dog back, Yeah, she's like, that's sad. That was
her way of saying that's sad. Or maybe that was
her way of saying, I need to peek. I really
don't know either way. Either way, it's a bummer for
her and and a bummer for us too. All right,
So a little bit more to uh to say on
(32:47):
all of that. We've got three things coming up in
twenty minutes. We haven't gotten to Rory yet. We will.
We are sitting here live in the Fox Sports Radio
studios alongside e From Salama Mark Willard on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Okay, three things.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
At the top of the hour, that's when he From
and I go through our top three observations of the week.
Sometimes low off the map, sometimes on the map, on
the map. Sometimes it's sports, sometimes it's life. Sometimes it's
both sports life, damn right it is, Oh yeah, I
mean and sometimes life is sports most times.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Do you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Man, somebody asked me that like years ago, like I
was already in the business, but years ago, somebody asked me, like.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
What would you say, like what percentage of your life
is sports?
Speaker 2 (33:40):
And I'm like, ooh, this is a loaded question. I
gotta get the right answer here because you want to
you want to be honest. You also want to sound
well rounded. So I think I was like, like, but
I think I lied. I think I lied. I mean
(34:05):
when you consider, because like you know, kids and family
definitely definitely more important.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
But how much of what I do with kids and
family is sports? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (34:16):
I take when I take them somewhere that's what we do,
or i'm or I'm coaching them more like you're coaching them,
or do you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (34:24):
It's part of you know, our every day, it's it's
everything everything. Sometimes you want to win an argument with
wife very rarely, but sometimes I want to.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Win, and even more rarely sometimes you do. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
Yeah, but.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
Yeah, I tell you is if you're a dude and
you know you end up at one of these events
or gatherings or parties where you don't know a lot
of people. Boy, you better hope you've been following sports
or else you don't get to talk. No, that's what
we talk about. What else am I supposed to talk about?
(35:05):
What are what are dudes that have never really met
each other? What the hell are we gonna say to
each other?
Speaker 4 (35:10):
It's great weather we're having here.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
That's right. So there's three seconds.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
Now, what did you guys see?
Speaker 3 (35:16):
The the the I'm sorry, I forgot.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
But if you go to a party, you're like, hey,
do you hear what Draymond said last night?
Speaker 1 (35:29):
Now we're cooking.
Speaker 4 (35:31):
The starter is what's your team?
Speaker 1 (35:33):
There?
Speaker 4 (35:33):
You go, there, you go, and then you and then
the rest of the evening takes on from.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
There and then we're good. Yeah, that we're good.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
Or this mixer or whatever this is is happening during
a game and they're all trying to find a place
to watch the game, especially if it's NFL, so it's
just a natural conversation.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Exactly right, exactly right.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
Whether your team is playing or not.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
I was at a Super Bowl party one time and
I looked out the window and there was a man running.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
He was just right. He went for a run, and
I judged him.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
It's like, what is what's going on in his life?
Speaker 1 (36:15):
What are you doing? You're doing this wrong. I almost
chased him down the street.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
Sir, start running behind him, Sir, sir.
Speaker 1 (36:22):
You've taken a wrong turn. This is earth, Sir.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
You must get inside next to a television. Sir.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
Oh gosh.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
So anyway, you run up button next to him and
be like, sir, who hurts you?
Speaker 1 (36:36):
Exactly?
Speaker 4 (36:37):
Who hurt you? I'm here to talk.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
Here, It's okay, it's okay. We I'm be here to help.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
Having some fellas at the house. Come on, over watch
the game. He collapses in your arm.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
Weep or even worse, says what game? And then I'm like,
oh no, no, no, no, this is now.
Speaker 4 (36:53):
He's been brainwashed. We gotta go get him, gotta save
it exactly.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
Okay. So it covered a lot of this stuff, and
I don't know why.
Speaker 2 (37:05):
Yesterday, yesterday I thought I thought of I thought of
Kobe Bryant because I was like, this is this is
this is not going to land well with fans of
say Kobe Bryant, because he had and many others like him.
(37:25):
But I think he's one of the kind of the
posters for this. He had a very very specific way
that he thought about winning and it was the only thing,
and it was everything, and you know, it was a
lost season if you didn't win the whole thing.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
Kind of a mentality.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Something caught my attention at the Masters this week, and
I think it was after day two. Ry McElroy's got
a got a big lead and he's sort of trying
to talk about why he's playing so well and so
so relaxed, and he goes, yeah, just kind of real
that I arrived here this week and felt like I
(38:04):
was playing with house money, and I was like, I
need to hear what Ephraim says about that. He's already
won one, so now he just playing with house money.
Speaker 1 (38:20):
How did that hit you?
Speaker 4 (38:22):
I mean, is the goal one?
Speaker 1 (38:26):
I see?
Speaker 4 (38:26):
Look, before you get the one, the goal is won.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
Right.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
But now now once you cross over that threshold of greatness,
now it can't be like, oh, I'm good, I got one.
That's like winning an NBA championship and be like I'm cool,
I never got to get another one again.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
That's why it hit me.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
Yeah, money, and I never want to tell someone else
what their goals are. Like we learned that in parenting
all the time. Don't don't, don't put your goals on
the kid. Let them, let them do what they want
to do. So if Rory, if your goal was one,
then I guess your goal is one.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
The goal should always be at least one, not just one.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
I thought that statement would have been problematic for him tonight.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
It almost was if he hadn't won. Well, yeah, I
mean we saw a little meltdown. We saw, you know,
the old standard little meltdown, no doubt, you know, coming
off the two days Thursday and Friday looking good, Saturday,
What in the blue blazes this happening right now?
Speaker 1 (39:33):
Right?
Speaker 2 (39:34):
And then today when he's tied top the leaderboard and
he's three puts from six feet and suddenly he's two
shots back.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
In at first nine.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
Boy, oh man, I was like, oh, it's oh the
pucker's happening right.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
Don't you think that statement would have bit him if
he had lost?
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Of course, because I think when he said it, he's
up by six.
Speaker 4 (39:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
But you when you say stuff like that now, people
are like, oh, well you weren't serious, You didn't right,
Like it didn't mean enough, you know, like when you
say something like when you lead someone to uh, to
to the to the will to drink. They gonna drink
it now if you lead them to the will of ah,
you know.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
Like a second one would be cool, but like whatever.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Yeah, I'm like, oh, I've never heard an elite athlete
speak that way.
Speaker 2 (40:22):
What if shake Gildas Alexander to start of these playoffs
is like house money now? Because you know whatever. Anyway,
we'll do three things coming up next. Do listen no
Fox Sports Radio here we go about that time broadcasting
live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. The Western Conference
(40:43):
of the NBA is completing their season, the Eastern Conference
already has. By the time we go to bed tonight,
it will all be clear, except for it kind of
mostly already was. And one thing has also become clear
just in the last ten and it's that also was
rumored at a minimum, and that is it is official.
(41:06):
From before we do three things. The Milwaukee Bucks will
have a new head coach next year. Doc Rivers departing
as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks after a thirty
two and fifty season and what I think can only
be described as one of the oddest NBA seasons in
(41:27):
recent memory. Due to the fact that you had a
team that on the way in was one of the
teams that had a big star, has some players with
name value, made moves in the offseason that made it
look like they wanted to compete, and instead they sort
of kind of half joined the tankathon and then had
(41:48):
one of the weirder stories I've ever seen in sports
where a player and the team are fighting with one
another over whether or not to play.
Speaker 4 (41:56):
That was a bit of a cluster. Do you think
it look.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
Players and like organized organizations like And I blame Milwaukee
because they got a little greedy and they were like,
they got plenty of offers. They got some good offers
for Jannis. Janie had already said he wanted out, but
(42:27):
they were like, no, hmmm, we're gonna wait. Then Janni's
was like, well, I'm done for the year. And then
well he said, they said, starts to happen. And now
we're in a situation now and Doc Rivers just sitting there,
just riding in the car, just just excuse me, driving
(42:54):
the car and they're Philma and Luise in it. They're
heading straight for the cliff, no doubt, all right. And
so they got the league behind them chasing them and
they just head right off the cliffs.
Speaker 2 (43:07):
That's a pretty good analogy. It's one way to say it.
And I thought he signaled earlier this week that this
was And by the way, even just looking at him
at times this year, this looked like that He's just like, this.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
Is not for me. No, this is not for me.
Speaker 4 (43:23):
I'm out. Well, we knew that last year. We knew
that two years ago.
Speaker 1 (43:26):
Actually, that's fair.
Speaker 3 (43:27):
They tried to put a band aid on it with
Dame Lillard, but we knew that two years ago.
Speaker 4 (43:32):
So and that's why I blame them.
Speaker 1 (43:34):
They are, Oh, it's totally fair.
Speaker 3 (43:36):
You gotta know, you gotta know. Number one, no one
was coming to Milwaukee to play with Giannis.
Speaker 4 (43:43):
That's a real thing.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
Lebron James just went out and just ripped Milwaukee, just
saying like players don't want to play there, Players don't
want to even.
Speaker 4 (43:56):
Visit there on road trips.
Speaker 3 (44:00):
Right, And now, you know, the mayor of Milwaukee got
a little upset, and you know people are like, well,
Milwaukee's they spent five billion dollars downtown.
Speaker 4 (44:09):
Yeah, but it's still.
Speaker 2 (44:09):
In Milwaukee, right, Well, yeah, it's still still that part's
not gonna change.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
Milwaukee that part's not leaving the organization.
Speaker 4 (44:20):
So you have to know this.
Speaker 3 (44:25):
You have to know this, and when you're when you're
posturing for trade and I'm sure they wanted to see
how the season shaked out, shook out, excuse me? And
and what draft position people will be in now? A
first round draft pick if you're Golden State are if
(44:47):
you're the Wizards are whatever that I don't even think
the Wizards have it anymore.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
I don't think they have their Yeah.
Speaker 3 (44:54):
But what whatever, whatever team it gets the first pick
in the draft. Now you put yourself in a position
of will they give up that pick right Arianna's or
will they because the draft is so talented.
Speaker 1 (45:14):
I think the Bucks waited too long.
Speaker 4 (45:15):
They waited way too long.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
Wait, they waited too long because once the player gets mad,
now the value goes down. That's because you know, totally
totally all right, we could circle back to that. Let's
do three things briefly. Let's jump on into this our
top three observations of the week, throughout the week, every week,
life sports beyond from I'll go first, so you can
(45:41):
go last.
Speaker 1 (45:41):
And my first one is that that.
Speaker 2 (45:43):
Was a complete punk move by Sergio Garcia. Today out
at the Masters. I don't know how many of you
saw this. And believe me, I'm no prude, I'm no
fuddy duddy. And yes, I, like every other basic golfer
in the world, I have damaged clubs on the course
when I get frustrated as well. But I'm not a
(46:05):
professional and I'm not playing at Augusta National. And it's
just a flimsy look and quite frankly, a silly look
for a professional golfer, especially one who already has the
resume that he has to start taking out frustrations on
(46:28):
his own equipment on the course that has been perfectly
manicured by an entire staff. To start firing your club
at something after a poor shot, if you know, you know,
and out there, that is wildly unacceptable. I've tried to
live by that. I've tried to teach my kids when
(46:51):
they golf that when they're when they're young, like, and
if it's not acceptable at your local muni, it certainly ain't.
Speaker 1 (46:58):
Acceptable at Augusta. That was.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
That was an embarrassing look for Sergio Garcia today.
Speaker 3 (47:03):
Yeah, and and let me ask you this, if he
hadn't done that, would we be talking about him.
Speaker 2 (47:09):
Nope, and there you have it. Well, then then that's
even more embarrassed.
Speaker 3 (47:14):
That and now you've said something. Yeah, now you've said
something Sergio Garcia has has.
Speaker 4 (47:21):
Long been forgotten. Yep, yep, seriously, all.
Speaker 3 (47:26):
These updates did we get it to have the pleasure
with Steve de Seger thirty after the hour? Every time
we're in the full swing of of of the golf season,
we don't get a lot of El Nino's well.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
No, I mean he's he like, I don't know if
he's accepted this. I know he's only a year older
than Justin Rose, who almost won the tournament today. But
Sergio is officially well he's there because he won it,
right and past champions get to go for the rest
of your life. But he's out there basically attacking a
tea box as if he's one of the true contenders.
Speaker 1 (48:04):
And he hasn't been for a long long time.
Speaker 3 (48:06):
No, and look and look, hey, okay, he got his
five minutes of SoundBite. Now we're moving on. Yep, enough
is enough. I want to send a shout out. I
don't do this very often. For my first one, I
want to give a shout out to the Boston Celtics,
and I never do that as a Laker fan, but
coming into the season, coming off to Jason Tatum injury,
(48:30):
we didn't expect them to show up and play like
they did. And Jalen Brown led this team to fifty
six wins, the second seed in the in the East,
and they should be commended. He should be commended for
(48:50):
that because that came from nowhere.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (48:54):
I always love and pay respect to teams who do
things like this because it's it's extremely difficult to do
when you lose essentially your guy. Now, some may say
they were one A, one B, but I don't more
people were leaning to Tatum being the face of the
(49:15):
franchise and him being the one A. And you took
Derek White and.
Speaker 1 (49:23):
Pritchard, yeah, Peyton part Peyton.
Speaker 3 (49:25):
Pritchart, and some other guys that may or may not
be you know names that you hear outside of a
you know, a Boston home and you made it all
the way to the second seed and have been in
(49:45):
that second seed for quite some time, even though the
Nicks can put a little pressure on you. But I
just wanted to give the Celtics a shout out on
the final eve of the NBA this year.
Speaker 1 (49:55):
I think that's a great call. That's a great call.
Speaker 2 (49:57):
They have been so impressive this year, and you know,
they started letting veteran players go in the offseason and
made it look like they were kind of in going
to do some sort of a reboot year. And now
they're the two seed. That's a great, great call. Okay,
here's my number two. I want to read you this
sentence and you tell me if it makes any sense
(50:18):
to you. This is a direct quote in a report
following the decision that was made by a panel today.
Some of you will remember the NFL Players Association launched
claims and an investigation that owners had colluded in the
(50:39):
process of negotiating with quarterbacks back when Kyler Murray and
Russell Wilson signed their most recent deals three years ago,
and this was in the wake of the Deshaun Watson
deal and obviously the accusation that owners were like, let's
all get together and make sure deals like that don't
happen anymore. Well, the panel decide today that there was
(51:02):
no collusion, so the NFL wins again. The Players Association
does not. But within the decision, this is a direct quote.
While the panel found that quote teams were being invited
to participate in collusion and that the effort was quote improper.
(51:26):
They also decided there was not enough evidence to prove collusion.
Isn't being invited to participate in collusion?
Speaker 1 (51:38):
Isn't that collusion? I might not be the smartest.
Speaker 2 (51:44):
But that feels to me a little disingenuous to be. Like, so,
collusion is when everybody talks about something and then participates
in the process of holding something else down. So there
was an invitation, there was communication, there was a request
for collusion, but no collusion.
Speaker 4 (52:08):
Okay, yeah, that that you say?
Speaker 1 (52:13):
So, oh that one got me.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
Hey wait a minute, it's what we are, what we know,
what we know.
Speaker 3 (52:24):
It is hard to pin the NFL down on the
unfone and not a lot of things that can put
in the NFL down.
Speaker 1 (52:32):
They do not losing court brother.
Speaker 3 (52:34):
Right, Like, it's not because the judge is a fan
of somebody's right, you you gotta understand what's going on here.
Speaker 1 (52:42):
And they got good lawyers, right, they got very good lawyer.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
That's why politicians you can't take on like whatever they're
trying to do in Florida with the Rooney rule, like
you don't want to do that, right, because you will
find yourself out of office because those very same people
who vote for you are die hard Miami fans, Bucks fans.
(53:07):
Uh was that is there another Miami No, the Bucks
Jaguars if you can.
Speaker 1 (53:14):
Consider that floor. I don't know if they're a diehard Southern.
Speaker 4 (53:17):
South Georgia, So you don't.
Speaker 3 (53:21):
You gotta understand what's going on when you start hollering
these things out and you know, of course it was colluding.
But come on, man, you're not gonna be able to
pin that down on your thumb. It's not gonna happen.
It's not gonna happen. That's a machine. That that that's
a machine that's bigger than.
Speaker 4 (53:37):
The machine, period.
Speaker 1 (53:39):
Amen.
Speaker 4 (53:40):
And you know that's that's what this country is.
Speaker 3 (53:43):
It's like you know, the European Soccer League over overseas, right,
those different you know, levels in Iliga and all that.
Speaker 4 (53:51):
Yeah, good luck, good luck.
Speaker 1 (53:55):
I just wanted The quote made me laugh quite frankly.
Speaker 3 (53:58):
Yeah, I mean, because we know y'all, we know y'all
doing some stuff you ain't supposed to. Well, we can't
really say a nail it down, but we heard we
had heard see what happened was there were party invitations
and we don't know how we got together to talk
about it.
Speaker 4 (54:16):
We don't know who took the invitation, so we don't
know who actually showed up.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
There weren't napkins, so it didn't count as a party.
Speaker 4 (54:23):
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (54:24):
Okay, yeah, anyway.
Speaker 4 (54:27):
That's that's funny.
Speaker 3 (54:30):
My second one is I want to go baseball, and
my last two will be baseball. Just to give your
heads up, I mean, number one, I'm a Dodger fan,
so let's just start with shoe heel tani brother. It's
I know it's only been about fifteen games, but good lord,
I mean, hey man.
Speaker 2 (54:50):
We're gonna get to baseball in a much longer segment soon,
so go ahead and get it off.
Speaker 4 (54:55):
It's just unreal what this man can.
Speaker 3 (55:01):
Do, probably the best ever. Probably just kinda be that.
Like we it's early, but I'm like, yeah, I ain't.
Speaker 4 (55:13):
Never seen that.
Speaker 3 (55:14):
Nobody has the nicest guy in the world.
Speaker 1 (55:18):
You can't, you can't.
Speaker 3 (55:21):
They're angel fans who love show. Hey, they're Cubs fans.
My mother in law is a die hard Cubs fan
and she's like, well, I love Show.
Speaker 1 (55:32):

Speaker 4 (55:32):
Though, Yeah, it's kind of hard, right you as a
Giants fan.
Speaker 1 (55:36):
Well, come on now, I want to talk to first
and see if he still loves his show. Hey, but
go ahead.
Speaker 2 (55:44):
He pays like I got a problem, but I'm in jail,
so you can't hear me.
Speaker 3 (55:48):
Guess what Pey loves show, hey, because he.
Speaker 1 (55:52):
Know you'd be gonna have a big check. Wait for
it on the problem check. Wait. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (56:02):
Anytime he hits the foul ball and he goes somewhere
and that's supposed to he he bowns his head like
I'm sorry, like he's just and then just get up
there and just slap it out the park.
Speaker 2 (56:14):
Yes, it's down this year from the last three years. Yah,
know what's wrong? Why is it only nine ninety six?
Speaker 1 (56:20):
Right? Get it together?
Speaker 8 (56:21):
Man?
Speaker 3 (56:21):
The man has a forty three game on base uh streak,
Like I mean, they see he's about to it's about
to be a Dodger record, think about like nine more
to go. But it's you just either you put you
pitch to him. Good luck, you walk him, good luck,
(56:43):
you got him on the mound, good luck?
Speaker 1 (56:44):
Yeah. No, no Earn runs in twelve and eighty none
on the mound. The season just started.
Speaker 2 (56:50):
You go to you go to his page online and
you you you click on his stats and then there's
a drop down menu so you can pick whether you're
talking about pitching or hitting. Nobody else know, nobody else
got then you so I hear you here. My last
one is quick. I just want to read eighteen names
(57:12):

your last one?
Speaker 3 (58:38):
My last one is uh. And this is spurred on
by my wife. This is the best one who, by
the way, yes, was not a baseball fan. It was not,
even though she grew up in a baseball family. She
plays softball when she was a little hated it. Her
(59:00):
brother was a big time pitcher, could have been with
the Padres. He chose other things.
Speaker 1 (59:06):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (59:06):
Miss kid was six' five in high school throwing ninety
eight miles an.
Speaker 4 (59:11):
Hour The padres knocked on their.

Speaker 3 (59:23):
Man, Okay so she her one half of her family
is All angel, fans, Right so we go to the

(01:00:11):
because according to, her he just ain't doing.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
Enough, well you know, what you should invite her.
Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
Too there is a standard that he is not. MEETING i, Said,
hey there's fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:00:24):
Games in, it for, instance, right and it's a new it's.
New you're putting a lot of pressure on.
Speaker 3 (01:00:28):

my wife's. Standard, well you can't tell. Her you can turn, around.
Speaker 2 (01:00:41):

Average it's not good. Enough apparently. Apparently, Well i'll tell
you where you can invite her. To you can invite
her to this offseason's cba' a gootiations Because Kyle tucker is.

Figure, No and that's not even the. Point it's just
a number and it doesn't. Matter BUT i don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:02:51):
Either if we had to determine his age from his vast,
knowledge then he'd be one hundred and fifty seven years.
Speaker 1 (01:02:57):
Old that's, true and maybe he. IS i can't prove
that he's.
Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
Not but ALL i can tell you, is, however however
old he, is this will be his second to last
update on our.
Speaker 4 (01:03:16):
Show so what? Now wait at that?
Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
Age oh, okay, YEAH i guess over in.
Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
Here really really long winded way of saying, THAT i
Think steve's birthday is this, Week.
Speaker 4 (01:03:29):
Steve is your birthday this? Week yes it, Is.
Speaker 2 (01:03:34):
And a clue as to how Old steve is is
how he answered that, question there was a tone there
that usually doesn't come when you're about to turn twenty.
Speaker 8 (01:03:43):
One this, way there comes a round number where you
just stop. COUNTING i have reached that number a while,
ago and Then i've just stopped.
Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
Counting have you reached the number where you have to
stop and think about it, though because that's What i've.
Speaker 4 (01:03:57):
Noticed it's been a. While, yeah my parents.
Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
You'll be like your happy, birthday and they're, like ah
AM i?
Speaker 1 (01:04:06):
AM? I AM i eighty two?
Speaker 8 (01:04:10):
One that is your?
Speaker 1 (01:04:11):
Answer not, sure it doesn't, matter so but, anyway happy, birthday.
Dude thank you very.
Speaker 8 (01:04:17):
Much it has been a few, years including a few years,
here and your reference Of Kobe bryant in the show
tonight merely reminded me that both you AND i Covered
Kobe bryant In Los.
Speaker 1 (01:04:29):
Angeles oh, yes we did.
Speaker 8 (01:04:31):
Many an evening visiting The laker locker room for. Interviews so,
yeah goes back. AWAYS i am not twenty, five nor AM? I.
Speaker 4 (01:04:43):
YEAH i don't think any of us, are except For mary.
Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
Sept Barry BARRY i actually don't think she's even twenty five,
yet so she's not twenty five.
Speaker 8 (01:04:54):

gift from across the. Street they got some.
Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
CHEESECAKE i love that.
Speaker 8 (01:05:07):
PHENOMENAL i did.
Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
Everybody else enjoy that pause as much AS i. Did they're,
like they got us an. Edible you just stopped AND.
Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
I was, like oh, damn that's going.
Speaker 8 (01:05:21):
On So i'm really more nibbling at. It it's gonna
take two chows to finish this large piece of.
Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
CHEESECAKE i was glad there was more to that, story that's.
Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
All, YEAH i got some cannabis achieva here baked into a.
Speaker 8 (01:05:35):
Brownie by the, way not mentioning the restaurant across the,
street because you, know the day they spawnsored the show
to do commercials for.
Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
Them then they're, In, yeah, exactly, okay, birthday thank you very.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
Much whatever you.
Speaker 8 (01:05:51):
Are steve come a, Anchor.
Speaker 1 (01:05:57):
You're, Like i'm a, Human that's WHAT i.
Speaker 8 (01:06:00):
Am, well let's down the, music shall. We we're at
the bottom of the hour and we've Got lakers And nuggets.
Games to update because we've actually got a, race if
you can call it, that to the number three seed
in The Western, conference The Denver, nuggets a game ahead
of The lakers going into this season. Finale, Well denver's
up fifty nine to forty At San antonio and still
(01:06:23):
four minutes to go in the first. Half it's a
nineteen point lead for The. Nuggets, so, yeah The lakers
are up double digits at home Against utah late first,
half but it may not matter fifty one thirty Eight
lakers in the. Lead but right, now it's looking Like
Oklahoma city will be the one. Seed they're currently at
sixty four wins this. Year by the, Way spurs currently
(01:06:44):
at sixty two, wins the two, seed and it's looking
Like denver the three, seed which Means lakers Versus houston
in the first round starting this. Weekend that's what it's looking.
Like we do know after results a couple of nights,
ago that The lakers will be starting the first round at.
Home The Eastern conference teams set For, chicago which is
(01:07:07):
playing right now At, dallas have all finished their regular.
Seasons that game At. Dallas by the, Way Cooper flag
of The MAVs left early with a sprained. Ankle so, Yeah,
dallas this season is officially. Over philadelphia Beat milwaukee won
twenty six one to oh. Six Doc, rivers according TO,
espn will not return As milwaukee's head. Coach in his
three glorious years, there The hall Of famer lost in
(01:07:28):
the first round twice and now miss not only the
playoffs but the play in These bucks finished thirty two
and Fifty Gannis antennacumpo out again with the bad, knee
so he winds up although he said he wanted to,
play missed the final four weeks of the, season played
just thirty six games this. Season and by the, Way
Doc rivers has still owed an eight figure salary for next,
Season so waiting.
Speaker 4 (01:07:48):
Bill bucks vacation on you damn. Goodness and by.
Speaker 8 (01:07:52):
The, way the whole timing of getting into The hall
Of fame could not have been. WORSE i Think atlanta
lost At miami won forty. Three he won. Seventeen so
The hawk's defeat moves them down to the sixth seed
in The, east so they'll have to start the playoffs
In New. York cleveland a winner Against, washington and to finish,
up The wizards lost twenty six of twenty, seven final
(01:08:14):
record of seventeen and sixty. Five cleveland in the first
round will be facing The, raptors who are in the
five seed in The. East thank You atlanta. Loss toronto
won easily at home against The nets one thirty six
to one oh. One detroit got win number sixty a
victory At. Indiana who would have thunk about ten months
ago that The Indiana pacers would finish this season nineteen
(01:08:38):
and sixty, three or as E firre mentioned that The
Boston celtics would be so good they finished out even
sitting eight, regulars finished out with a win Over. Orlando
so The Orlando magic fall to the eight seed in The.
East it has to play a playing game At. Philadelphia
charlotte won At New York, nicks resting a lot of
(01:08:58):
starters there we you, have by the, way, well THE
nba was Off saturday for starters and everybody playing, tonight
and that finishes the regular. Season we do have the
play in tournament starting On. Tuesday the actual first round
of the postseason is This. Saturday sacramento Coach Doug christy
reportedly due to return next. Season rory McElroy won The
(01:09:20):
masters for the second straight. Year this was McElroy's thirtieth
victory on THE Pga, tour his sixth career major. Championship
Scottie scheffler wound up being the second place goal for
one stroke back after a final round sixty. Eight in
THE nhl regular season Ends, Thursday montreal won for to
one at The. Islanders boston a three to two winner
At Columbus Ty. Gibbs THE nascar, Winner Ryan blaney finished
(01:09:43):
second after starting from the. Poll The sunday night ballgame
is being dominated by The Atlanta. Braves they already were
playing with an advantage Because Chris sale is on the
mound nine to one going to the Eighth atlanta over
The Cleveland Guardians sale at six innings of. Work washington
won eight to six At. Milwaukee The brewers have lost
(01:10:05):
five straight And Christian yelich left with hamstring. Tightness and,
finally The dodgers lost at home five to two To
texas And jacob De. Gram but you mentioned one Show,
heyotani who hit a leadoff homer in last night's. Game
he hit a leadoff homer in this afternoons. Game, apparently
the record is three straight games with a leadoff, homer
(01:10:26):
so something to shoot for. Tomorrow but he does currently
have the longest active on bass streak In Major League,
baseball going back to last year's regular. Season it's forty
six straight Games otani has reached. Base there, is, actually
for starting pitchers a longest active streak going of consecutive
innings pitch without allowing a single earned. Run among all
(01:10:49):
starters in the. Majors it's almost thirty straight, innings and
it belongs to Sho. Heotani the same guy owns both
longest active streak hitting and. Pitching it makes no sense
back to.
Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
You anybody arguing anything other than then they're not watching
base but they they, Don't they're not understanding or you
have an, agenda yes.
Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
That, Part and anybody arguing that that loss to The
rangers today was anybody's fault other Than Kyle.
Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
Tucker's, also hey man does.
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
Not know, this but he only went one for. Five
he only drove in one run. Today that's. RIDICULOUS i
THOUGHT i thought he signed with The.
Speaker 3 (01:11:36):
Dodgers hitting in that. Spot put him, in put him
and let him, hit bring call switch him.
Speaker 8 (01:11:42):
And call why why can't he be the fifth? Starter
being paid so.
Speaker 3 (01:11:45):
Much, right put put switch him, in call have him
bad in Eighth bet he wouldn't walk five guys.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
Right then, again he was also tied for the team
leading hits today.
Speaker 1 (01:11:58):
Hold dodger. Lineup nobody got two hits.
Speaker 3 (01:12:00):
Nobody but you know, what once you win the. Series
WHAT i found that third game is just, like.
Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
Eh, yeah sometimes it's just, like, well and they Started, sasaki,
right that's their weak link right.
Speaker 3 (01:12:12):
Now but they're trying to get them. Going, yeah and
it's not working.
Speaker 8 (01:12:17):
With going the wrong way without sending him to the, miners, right.
Speaker 4 (01:12:21):
You, know and his little doey.
Speaker 3 (01:12:22):
Eyes he Just i'm, like, bro a couple of he
can't be mad at, him, man it's just like he's twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:12:28):
Four he looks. Fourteen.
Speaker 4 (01:12:30):
Man i'm, like look out here.
Speaker 1 (01:12:32):
And speak the.
Speaker 8 (01:12:33):
Truth The dodgers don't win The World series if he
doesn't suddenly become their, closer.
Speaker 1 (01:12:38):
Right, true, right, yes very.
Speaker 4 (01:12:39):
True, Absolutely but.
Speaker 1 (01:12:40):
You can be a championship hero and then.
Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
Kaboom, yeah things can. Change relationships change through the. Years
i've seen.
Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
It, yeah it's like between him And, kim they look
like some kids out, there, yes playing with their with
their older, uncles and they.
Speaker 1 (01:12:58):
Are that's exactly what they.
Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
ARE i can't believe we just talked About steve's birthday
and then you ended it with older.
Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
Uncles that's.
Speaker 4 (01:13:06):
Terrible.
Speaker 8 (01:13:08):
Number no number was.
Speaker 3 (01:13:10):
Given everybody who listens Knows steve is a TRIPLE. O G,
okay that's. True come, on, now that's. True that Was steve's.
Hamstring actually birthday. Cake they had all the candles in.
Speaker 1 (01:13:27):
It blew. Up. Gosh all, Right happy, Birthday. Steve you're the.
Speaker 2 (01:13:34):
Basket, yeah all, Right we're a Comedy alive from The
Fox Sports radio. Studios a couple Other masters, observations and
then a FROM i just got to tell you coming
up at the top of the, hour there's a conversation
we're gonna have THAT i think you're gonna love and
hate at the exact same. Time, yeah skun, challenging, now skun.
Challenging all, right, okay. Challenge and it's all because we're
(01:13:57):
just driving, along driving at the Five freeway on our
way To San Diego state, yesterday and my daughter just
saw a billboard and she, unloaded she got it off her,
chest AND i, said you know, What i'm gonna talk
to you from about. That see what he has to,
(01:14:19):
say and so we'll do that coming up in a
little bit here On Fox Sports, radio sitting here live
in These Fox Sports radio. Studios so it sounds like
you watch some of The masters, Today oh, yeah. Okay
you ever look at some of the greens and some
of the approach, shots and if you've watched The masters for,
years maybe you're used to this on certain, holes maybe.
(01:14:39):
Not and you see the way the ball just kind
of like it hits a certain spot and then it'll
just start rolling and rolling and. Rolling AND i was
thinking of, this AND i bet you could answer this
really well BECAUSE i went to The masters one time
and one thing and this, was LIKE i think in
(01:15:01):
SIX i went to The, masters AND i had a
friend playing in the, tournament and so we went and followed.
Him and one thing really really stands, out which is
that the whole thing.
Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
Is kind of different in ways then it looks ON.
Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
Tv there are things that BECAUSE i think The masters
And augusta looks great ON, tv but you do not
get a sense ON tv of the, difficulty for, example
of these, greens how intense they, are how, sloped how.
(01:15:45):
CRAZY i was watching something where the pros were getting
interviewed recently and they were, like you, know take your
average fifteen. Handicap fifteen handicap is not a good, player
not a terrible. Player that's somebody, who if they play,
well might shoot you, know about an eighty five or
whatever something like. That and they're, like what would a
(01:16:08):
fifteen handicap shoot At augusta when the thing is set
up for The? Masters and every one of them laughed
and said the same. Thing he, said there's no way
they would shoot a. Hundred there's no way they would
break a. Hundred so that whole course and everything that's
going on, there it's way different than it looks ON.
Speaker 1 (01:16:30):
Tv AND i bet that's true for a lot of
things in.
Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
SPORTS i wondered how you would answer, That like in THE,
nfl is there anything that goes on that just doesn't
really translate ON?
Speaker 1 (01:16:42):
Tv?
Speaker 4 (01:16:45):
Yeah how loud it?
Speaker 1 (01:16:46):
Is oh that's a good, Answer, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:16:51):
How loud it? Is it, is.
Speaker 3 (01:16:54):
Like you hear the crowd and all of, that but
they have to modulate the sound because you, have you,
know the play by play guys and the announcers speaking
when you're on that.
Speaker 4 (01:17:06):
Field, man.
Speaker 3 (01:17:09):
You have you ever been to a rock? Concert or
a concert instead next to a. Speaker that's what it sounds.
Like that's what it feels.
Speaker 1 (01:17:18):
Like because all the voices are pointed at. You it.
Speaker 4 (01:17:22):
Is it is death to. Fying it.
Speaker 3 (01:17:26):
IS i, mean you, know young players struggle because you
you can't, think you can't. You it's, LIKE i, THINK
i think that and the actual speed of the, game
because even watching it ON, Tv i'm, like, huh, like
(01:17:51):
especially up front WHEN i say an offensive lineman get
beat or something like that by a d End like
just go back and why to old clips Of Dwight.
Freeney as fast as it, looks it's ten times faster
in real.
Speaker 1 (01:18:06):
Life.
Speaker 3 (01:18:06):
Yep SO i think the sound and the speed of the,
game you don't really get it at.
Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
Home the one Thing i'll say to add to, that
having obviously never, played But i've been to a lot
OF nfl, games and if people are listening to you
and being, like, Well i've been to AN nfl, game
being in the stands is.
Speaker 4 (01:18:32):
Very different even close.
Speaker 1 (01:18:34):
Then being on the, field and that That's i've done.
Speaker 2 (01:18:37):
Both, yes it struck me the first time because used
to go Cover chargers games In San diego years ago
and in the final five.
Speaker 1 (01:18:49):
Minutes when you're going to go down to the.
Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
Field if you're a member of the media for the
final five minutes of the, game you can go down
to the field and then you, know get interviews and
all that. Stuff you can get ready and if it
was a close game and you go down the field
for the final five. MINUTES i was so struck by
what it sounds like on the field as opposed to
(01:19:12):
what it sounds like in the. Stands it's completely. Different
AND i didn't realize because all the voices are pointed
directly at, you and you were an offensive, lineman so that.
Speaker 3 (01:19:24):
Mattered oh, yeah we got the let it be third and.
Twelve good, Look, Seattle, Minnesota indianapolis tough places to, play,
Man so We, Tampa Kansas, city silent, count silent, count
(01:19:46):
which makes my job.
Speaker 4 (01:19:47):
TOUGHER i.
Speaker 1 (01:19:48):
BET i, mean that's the, idea.
Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
Whip out to look at Who i'm sull as to.
Block oh it's tough, living tough.
Speaker 1 (01:19:57):
Living.
Speaker 2 (01:19:58):
Okay So i'm driving out In San diego yesterday and
my daughter sys A dodger billboard and says, this that's.
Speaker 1 (01:20:05):
Next you're listening To Fox Sports radio.
Speaker 2 (01:20:10):
Radio specific Reason i'm asking did you ever watch The
rise of The niners documentary that was released a few months,
ago narrated By Tom.
Speaker 1 (01:20:22):
Brady, NO i. Didn't, okay all, good.
Speaker 2 (01:20:26):
But uh it's a four there's four one hour, episodes
AND i finally got around to watching all four of
them yesterday on vacation at my folks, house and we
sat there and we watched all four.
Speaker 1 (01:20:44):
Episodes and it goes through basically.
Speaker 2 (01:20:47):
The dynasty of the you know start starts there in
the eighties and takes you up through around ninety four
and all of The Joe, Montana Steve young.
Speaker 1 (01:20:57):
Stuff and it's it's because we all like we know,
it we're aware of. It we saw.
Speaker 2 (01:21:04):
It but let me tell you, something, man when you
see it again and then you try to run it
through the prism of THE nfl, today like the idea
Of Joe montana And Steve young being on the same
team for like five.
Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
Years crazy having a coach go to the media and
go so we've got like a little quarterback controversy going.
Speaker 2 (01:21:30):
On it is the weirdest thing you've ever. Seen and
the reason is is it would never ever happen.
Speaker 1 (01:21:38):
Again. Never it would never happen because two.
Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
Reasons, ONE i just think you had a couple of
unique personalities.
Speaker 1 (01:21:47):
There steve really wanted to.
Speaker 2 (01:21:49):
He wanted to try the Whole Bill walsh forty Nine ers,
thing and he never made a big stink and made
the forty nine ers trade him like anybody would.
Speaker 1 (01:21:58):
Today but number number, two and maybe the main thing
is the.
Speaker 2 (01:22:02):
Money like if you had a quarterback sitting there on
a team who everybody, knew all the other teams would
give that guy fifty five million dollars a year if
he would just.
Speaker 4 (01:22:15):
Leave well then he's gonna, leave.
Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
Right so as a kid growing up watching that, TEAM
i was still wide eyed and naive enough to not
really be thinking about that. Stuff it was just, like
do you Want joe to play or do you Want
steve to? Play there was never anything about money or contracts.
Speaker 1 (01:22:39):
Or what have.
Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
You so it is in this doc that for the
first TIME i got to go back and see what
league officials were saying about, this and that these two
players are essentially the main reason that THE nfl established
a salary. Cap like they did interviews and said, it
(01:23:05):
we don't want we don't want those two players on
the same, team and so we're establishing some rules so
that that won't happen.
Speaker 1 (01:23:15):
Anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:23:16):
Wow and it kind of makes, sense, right because it's,
like you've got a great product here and he's just
sitting there watching.
Speaker 1 (01:23:23):
Football the league wants those players all to.
Speaker 2 (01:23:25):
Play so this is where that came, from the mere idea, of,
well there's one team that's got a very spendye owner
and they've got all the good, players and the rest
(01:23:46):
of the league was, like we don't like. That we
want some good. Players makes, sense, right, Right?
Speaker 9 (01:23:55):
Ephraim, Yeah, Okay so NOW i want you to bring
that conversation to your wife next time she wants to
sit down and watch The dodger.
Speaker 1 (01:24:08):
Game so here's what happened.
Speaker 2 (01:24:11):
Yesterday my daughter is, seventeen and we're driving The San
Diego state because she's very excited about that particular.
Speaker 1 (01:24:21):
School wouldn't you? Be why wouldn't you?
Speaker 2 (01:24:23):
Be and so as we're driving through Southern, california there's
a big billboard AND i think Show hay is on,
it and she just looks at, it she looks at,
me and then she does that body shake. Thing she
like shook her. Arms she, GOES i HATE.
Speaker 1 (01:24:48):
Mlb.
Speaker 2 (01:24:51):
Mhmm she didn't SAY i hate The, Dodgers and that's
an important thing to note. Here she's SAID i HATE,
mlb AND i said, why and she immediately she's a
(01:25:12):
humongous forty nine er, fan she loves THE, nfl and
she launches into what sounds to me to be on the,
surface a very reasonable. Argument somebody who does not follow
the ins and outs of the business of the game
and is not really a Diehard giants fan or, anything, like,
(01:25:33):
yes A.
Speaker 1 (01:25:33):
Giants fan if you asked, her but like that's not her.
Speaker 2 (01:25:36):
Thing but she looks up at, it and she does
understand everything that has come to be for The Los
Angeles dodgers over the last five, years and she just,
goes it doesn't make any. Sense that doesn't make any
sense for a league to operate that, way AND i
think it's, Stupid SO i hate THE, Mlb like what
(01:26:02):
does that? Mean why would a? Sport why would a
sport do that where one team can spend four hundred
million dollars and another team only spends fifty million dollars
and then they all.
Speaker 1 (01:26:20):
Go play each other and then just act like it's.
Speaker 2 (01:26:23):
Equal she's asking questions and she goes that she, GOES
i don't understand.
Speaker 1 (01:26:30):
That that doesn't make any sense to.
Speaker 2 (01:26:31):
Me AND i was, LIKE i can't wait to just
throw that deep from and ask what would you have
said to?
Speaker 4 (01:26:38):
HER i would have, said baby, girl.
Speaker 1 (01:26:43):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:26:43):
Huh you can't BLAME mlb or other teams for not
wanting to spend the money to build a great. Roster
now The dodgers have breathed life and to THE mlb
(01:27:10):
because now Teams, Yankees, Mets, padres some other teams are
starting to write checks that they normally wouldn't have written
and acquire talent that they would have been, like, no,
Right so what it's doing is it's changing the excitement
(01:27:33):
of the. Sport so don't be mad at THE. Mlb
be mad as some of those franchises that refuse go,
AHEAD i, mean because The giants had an opportunity to
show he no.
Speaker 2 (01:27:48):
COMPLETELY i think her response would be that those teams
are also THE. Mlb, like, again the beauty of the
way she said it is that fans can't do. That
you can't, say, oh sour, grapes don't be mad at The.
Speaker 1 (01:28:05):
Dodgers she. Wasn't she.
Speaker 2 (01:28:08):
Wasn't she's simply pointing out as a league that doesn't
make sense as an entertainment entity based on. Competition through
her eyes and, mind this doesn't make. SENSE i will
tell you this from here's a. COMPARISON i will make
(01:28:31):
like you know that you like college, football probably a
little bit more THAN i. DO i don't dislike college.
FOOTBALL i watch college, football but for my, taste there's
too many games that are based On TEAM a with
(01:28:52):
seven hundred and forty three resources going against TEAM b
with twelve, resources and then TEAM a celebrates at the
end and they peacock, themselves And i'm, LIKE i have
a hard time With, Hey, alabama when you beat The,
citadel what did you actually? Do does the band really
(01:29:17):
need to strike? Up and everybody gets to go do
some sort of campus walk because you defeated a bunch
of kids that have no business even being in that.
Speaker 1 (01:29:31):
Game no.
Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
Business, yeah but you got to understand although nil is
what it, is, yes you, know professional sports and.
Speaker 4 (01:29:40):
Ownership no one owns The alabama football.
Speaker 3 (01:29:44):
Team, no seriously like it in terms OF i got, You,
YEAH i got. You there's the. Difference, sure there's the.
Difference now they're making, money whether they spend the money or.
Speaker 4 (01:29:55):
Not that's the.
Speaker 1 (01:29:55):
Problem but, again this wasn't an.
Speaker 4 (01:29:59):
An you got, it and you're absolutely.
Speaker 3 (01:30:02):
Right she said the league is more exciting now than
it's been in, Years.
Speaker 2 (01:30:06):
AND i would respond to that by, saying that's through
the eyes of A dodger. FAN i know a lot
of fans of other teams who don't think it's more.
Exciting in, fact they think it is A fata company
that is not exciting.
Speaker 1 (01:30:23):
Entertainment would you go to a movie if you already
knew the?
Speaker 4 (01:30:26):
End most movies that go to already know the?
Speaker 1 (01:30:29):
End maybe, yes, maybe and and you love.
Speaker 2 (01:30:32):
Movies BUT i do think a lot of people think
that if if you told them how it, ended if
you sat down For shawshank And Tim robbins is already In,
ziwatanejo then some of the anxiety of prison is taken.
Speaker 3 (01:30:50):
Away some of the best movies start with the. Ending
as you, Intend Quinn, tarantino.
Speaker 1 (01:30:55):
You are not.
Speaker 2 (01:30:56):
Wrong So i'm Not nothing here is across the. Board
nothing here is one hundred. Percent but the bottom line
of What i'm even saying here it doesn't have anything.
Speaker 1 (01:31:09):
To do with any individual.
Speaker 2 (01:31:10):
Team it has to do with the fact THAT i
DO i firmly believe it is time for a salary
cap and a salary.
Speaker 1 (01:31:19):
Floor it has to be. Both, YEAH i, agree it
has it has to be.
Speaker 2 (01:31:25):
Both because she has like Even dodger, fans you have to,
ADMIT i believe she has a point because it's not
about The. Dodgers it's simply about would you build a
sports league and, Go we're going to have some of
(01:31:45):
the teams spend all the money and have all the,
players and then we're going to have some other teams who.
Speaker 1 (01:31:51):
Are just Food. Like does that make?
Speaker 2 (01:31:56):
SENSE i don't think it, does and she you, KNOW
i know that that's not what they, intended and The
dodgers are clearly not at. FAULT i think it's a
little disingenuous to say that every team out there could
do what they're.
Speaker 1 (01:32:15):
Doing that's not. True some could and. Don't most.
Speaker 2 (01:32:21):
Can't they don't have their OWN tv, networks they don't
live in market to et. Cetera so like that in many,
ways as stupidly simplistic as it, is that's HOW i
would start THE cba. Negotiation i'd have my daughter walk
(01:32:42):
in and, go this IS i like that what y'all are.
Speaker 1 (01:32:45):
DOING i don't even know how we got. HERE i
don't know who plays for, who but this is.
Speaker 3 (01:32:49):
Stupid the crazy part is The dodgers have already made
back tenfold of Course joy's. Contract of, course of, course
who was going to sell out seven hundred million dollars
and show hey performed like he's been performing would have
made the money back as.
Speaker 2 (01:33:09):
WELL i can respond to that by, saying there were
multiple teams who offered.
Speaker 1 (01:33:12):
It, yeah but but who's did he? Take?
Speaker 4 (01:33:15):
Right so you going to give you?
Speaker 3 (01:33:19):
Seven, yeah then if you're a, giant you gotta give me.
Speaker 4 (01:33:23):
Eight, well you feel me like you got to play the.
Game you gotta play the.
Speaker 1 (01:33:29):
Game you're right.
Speaker 2 (01:33:31):
There WHAT i WHAT i feel like we were told
the media and the public was told about The showhy
negotiations is that they were never. Negotiations they simply brought that,
Contract we talked about, This they brought it to.
Speaker 1 (01:33:45):
The teams and all the the only question was will
you do?
Speaker 2 (01:33:49):
This AND i know for a fact that there were
at least five teams that were, like, yes no, problem.
Speaker 3 (01:33:55):
And that's when you, go we won't only do, that
but we'll also do, This.
Speaker 1 (01:34:02):
And maybe they. Did maybe they did show we knew he.
Speaker 4 (01:34:06):
Was coming to The, dodgers, Right it.
Speaker 2 (01:34:08):
Is clearly not motivated by a few more. Bucks why
would he be, like he's, like he didn't even ask
for any of the.
Speaker 3 (01:34:15):
Money, now, yeah, no he's like he made he's he's printing.
Money the funny thing, is look at the new naming
rights to the. Stadium look at all the advertisements At Dodgers. Stadium, yep, right, yeah,
okay all, right you were about printing. Money remember seven
eight years ago The dodgers could make.
Speaker 1 (01:34:37):
Payroll oh, yes remember.
Speaker 3 (01:34:40):
That remember that the player's, Court frank, McCourt the players
checks were.
Speaker 2 (01:34:44):
Bouncing, yes, yes, Right, no their their, their their ownership
has come.
Speaker 1 (01:34:52):
In they've done a brilliant.
Speaker 2 (01:34:55):
Job and whether it's taking advantag of loopholes or resources or,
whatever they've they've done a terrific. Job but if you
whittle this down to something super, simplistic that's what my mind.
Speaker 1 (01:35:12):
DID i was, like my daughter's not, wrong it's not,
wrong AND i. DON'T i.
Speaker 2 (01:35:19):
Don't the one thing where you AND i disagree IS
i know that you you sort of subscribe to The,
hey The dodgers are now the rising, tide and they're
forcing everyone to meet. Them and that is good for
baseball and creates. EXCITEMENT i don't. AGREE i don't think
that it is creating. EXCITEMENT i think it's creating excitement
(01:35:41):
For dodgers. Fans, YES i, BET i bet you should
come up here and Watch giants line up.
Speaker 1 (01:35:49):
For a week and tell me if you're still. Awake.
Yeah so it's.
Speaker 4 (01:35:52):
Not they didn't do enough off, season no.
Speaker 1 (01:35:56):
Doubt no.
Speaker 2 (01:35:56):
Doubt and that's not even a great example because they
are a. Spender like that's not EVEN i don't feel
for for that. Franchise but, like.
Speaker 1 (01:36:05):
What what are The Tampa Bay? Rays what is a?
Fan what is a fan supposed to do with?
Speaker 4 (01:36:12):
That go to.
Speaker 1 (01:36:15):
And they? Win they, Win they do.
Speaker 2 (01:36:19):
Good they they went to THE Covid World series and
played The dodgers for that third of a championship that they.
Speaker 1 (01:36:25):
Won they.
Speaker 3 (01:36:27):
Did hey, man he never. Good he put on THE La.
Championship we're not about to do.
Speaker 2 (01:36:34):
That they're, Good they're, Good but you've it is a
perennial state Of i've never heard of any of the
players at all, times forever.
Speaker 4 (01:36:45):
All her check this, out look at.
Speaker 3 (01:36:46):
This what's The denver game is ninety, two seventy nine
and The laker game is ninety two.
Speaker 4 (01:36:51):
Seventy, well there you.
Speaker 1 (01:36:53):
Go how exciting is? That?
Speaker 4 (01:36:56):
Oh, man.
Speaker 1 (01:36:58):
But tell you.
Speaker 3 (01:36:59):
What, Look lebron came out and, Playing Nicola jokic came
out and played the first, half and good for. Them
yeah that's. Good, Yeah lakers had their whole starting lineup
play in the first. Half was that the Only is
that the Only Western conference games that? Matter, yes he's only,
two that's the only. Two, yeah they're either, three third or.
Fourth it's looking, like uh, WELL i mean it's only
(01:37:21):
a twelve point game Over.
Speaker 4 (01:37:23):
Denver, yep.
Speaker 1 (01:37:25):
Yep so the thunder down by twenty, six, yes at? Home,
yeah you. Know, Anyway, OKAY i just will you will

Speaker 1 (01:40:22):
Fun twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (01:40:29):
In THE, nfl who was the leader in completion rate
on passes of ten plus? Yards you have to have
thrown at least two hundred and fifty passes completion rate
passes ten plus yards? Downfield which quarterback last year do
(01:40:53):
you think was the. Leader in that stat there were
thirty two qbs who.
Speaker 1 (01:41:02):
Qualified i'm thinking this is.
Speaker 3 (01:41:07):
Good that's a good. ONE i am going to say
they would Have Matthew. Stafford all, right hold your? Answer,
okay who was it?
Speaker 1 (01:41:18):
Him? Who? So who was it in twenty twenty? Four
who were? You guess in twenty twenty?
Speaker 3 (01:41:25):
Four twenty twenty, four so you'll Give stafford it? Was
it Was Josh?
Speaker 2 (01:41:31):
Allen, Okay Josh allen in twenty twenty. Four and then
last one is who do you think it was in
twenty twenty?
Speaker 4 (01:41:36):
Three twenty twenty? Three Was?
Speaker 1 (01:41:42):
Rock?
Speaker 4 (01:41:42):
Party?
Speaker 1 (01:41:43):
Okay you got? One? Right?
Speaker 4 (01:41:45):
Oh, okay one out of?
Speaker 1 (01:41:46):
Three, okay, right al, right one, Right.
Speaker 4 (01:41:50):
Josh?
Speaker 1 (01:41:51):
Allen what do you think you? Are, Right Josh? Allen,
No in twenty twenty, three it Was. ROCK i knew.
Speaker 4 (01:41:57):
IT i knew it was one of. Them. Yeah do
you know WHO i?
Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
Was in twenty twenty four Party? Brock, yeah, yes do
you know who it? Was in twenty twenty five it
Was BROAD i.
Speaker 3 (01:42:07):
Knew, It and you know, WHAT i almost said it
BECAUSE i knew it was coming from a place of
we talked about, This. Captain we, Done we've spoke about
this the guy.
Speaker 2 (01:42:20):
Who just did the SYSTEM qb with the little book
To christian, McCaffrey that's all number, one three years in a.
Speaker 4 (01:42:30):
Row now he can spin the, ball, man he can spend.
Speaker 2 (01:42:32):
It thirty thirty, two thirty two qualified qbs last, year
thirty four of them in twenty, four and thirty one
of them in twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:42:42):
Three number, one number, one number.
Speaker 4 (01:42:44):
One yeah mm.
Speaker 1 (01:42:48):
Hmm bring that one to.
Speaker 4 (01:42:52):
Your put that in your, pipe bring.
Speaker 1 (01:42:54):
Smoke and speaking of number, one.
Speaker 3 (01:42:58):
Speaking of, pipe oh star his corn cob pipe on
his birthday.
Speaker 2 (01:43:06):
Week speaking of, edibles let's go to no thank.
Speaker 8 (01:43:11):
You by the, way with all these double digit, leads
kind of predictably in THE nba tonight ending the regular,
season CAN i just piggyback on a couple of things you.
MENTIONED i certainly want to talk about you being on
the sidelines in THE, nfl but also With Major League.
BASEBALL i think we all agree in a perfect, WORLD
mlb should have more equal spending than it currently. Does
(01:43:33):
the problem is the business model is completely different than THE.
Nfl for, example, yes, football every single game is on
NATIONAL tv, only so all the teams split all of
that money. Equally baseball most games are on LOCAL, tv
so teams that add their own, channel like The Yankees
dodgers for, Years braves do now by the, way they
earn more FROM tv than the little. Guys by the,
(01:43:54):
way In England's Premier league, soccer if you make, more
you can spend, more, Right that's what hap AS i
would add to to. Discussion also that The dodgers came
this close to losing the last Two World series and
very realistically could, Have so then what would become of
the it's already decided discussion if they hadn't won Any
World series in the last five? Years it is not already.
(01:44:15):
Decided The dodgers were the worst of the three division
champs in THE nl last, year so they had to
play a wildcard series while the better Teams milwaukee And
philadelphia did. Not baseball is such a crapshoot in the,
postseason unlike what we're going to see in THE. Nba
the team with the largest payroll in baseball last year
missed the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (01:44:34):
Entirely The METS Yep.
Speaker 8 (01:44:35):
Houston had the number four payroll in The American league
and missed THE al playoffs. Entirely it's not all disci oh.
Speaker 4 (01:44:41):
That to your.
Speaker 1 (01:44:42):
Daughter these are all fair.
Speaker 2 (01:44:44):
Points these are all fair, points and so is hers
THAT i don't think any of those things changed the
fact that the disparity doesn't make, sense which is where.
Speaker 1 (01:44:59):
YOU sti argument it.
Speaker 8 (01:45:01):
IS i think we all agree it should be more
equal in.
Speaker 2 (01:45:04):
SPENDING i, MEAN i, mean do you want revenue? Sharing
that's what they do in THE, nba.
Speaker 8 (01:45:08):
Only if you can force the lower teams to put
the money into the product with the money in, which.
Speaker 1 (01:45:14):
To me is absolutely part of the.
Speaker 8 (01:45:16):
Conversation this is WHAT i adore about the Current dodger
ownership is they're making money hand over, fist but my,
goodness do they put it back into the.
Speaker 4 (01:45:26):
Product AND i don't mean just the.
Speaker 8 (01:45:27):
Payroll what they have done with that stadium just in
the last five ten years is, astounding because that's one
of the oldest stadiums in, baseball and it looks like
it opened just in the last five ten. Years it
is still. Magnificent, meanwhile you've got The, angels who certainly
have spent on big contracts over the, years just not,
wisely and they also didn't draft well in the, past
(01:45:49):
and they've made the postseason once since two thousand and.
Speaker 2 (01:45:52):
Nine, well The dodgers are not spending wisely. Either they
Bought Kyle. Tucker you Asked Miss salam how she feels
about that furious.
Speaker 8 (01:46:02):
Purchase, actually that was a great baseball, move if we're
gonna be.
Speaker 4 (01:46:06):
Honest when they, moved, yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:46:09):
They move mookie bets out of the. Outfield they just
removed six gold.
Speaker 4 (01:46:13):
Gloves it.
Speaker 8 (01:46:14):
Was it was a zoo in right field defensively last. Year,
anyway point, Two i'm glad you guys talked about how
some sports are different when you see him out, CLOSE
i would, add since we just Had March, madness when
you see major college basketball up, close you realize how
little space there is in the half, court how little
room there is to operate and, shoot and they don't
(01:46:36):
have the constant defensive switching THE nba, Has.
Speaker 1 (01:46:39):
And how few people are At March madness. Games, sorry, no.
Speaker 8 (01:46:45):
You're, right because they're putting four games in one day
in one. Building they're tipping off in front of nobody
at noon on A. THURSDAY i. Agree and about big time,
football when you're on the sideline for a, game people
should realize how we have seen firsthand how incredibly violent it.
IS i mean especially in. Games this is my, point
(01:47:07):
where the outcomes already, decided with a few minutes, left
and there's one final garbage, drive people are still getting blown.
Up it is really striking to.
Speaker 4 (01:47:17):
Hear, yeah it is a very loud.
Speaker 1 (01:47:20):
Uh it's breath. Taking when you hear.
Speaker 8 (01:47:25):
THE nfl films and they got people miked up and
you just hear the clash of the pads and all
of that. STUFF i wish people paid attention to that.
More that's not created in the. Sound it's actually that car.
Wrecks it's that. Sound also when a guy with a
good arm at quarterback throws and the ball just hits
(01:47:45):
the pad of the receiver instead of the, hands it's
that same. Thud it's.
Speaker 2 (01:47:49):
INCREDIBLE i also don't, understand quite, frankly how some of
the shorter quarterbacks do what they.
Speaker 8 (01:47:54):
Do, agreed would you?
Speaker 2 (01:47:56):
Agree that's those years THAT i went down on the
field with The. Chargers, yes there was Some Drew. Brees
there was also earlier on there was Some Doug flutie
AND i would watch him drop back and. Disappear he
would just do you did you know where we can
just disappear into an absolute cloud of dust and humongous,
(01:48:17):
humanity and somehow he'd pop out of there and complete.
PASSES i did not understand how he was doing what he.
Speaker 8 (01:48:25):
Did how is every other pass not knockdown right completely?
Incredible just your own linemen are five six inches taller
than you are throwing the ball. Exactly, Well we've got
a final night of THE nba regular season going right,
now and it looks like, yes The Denver nuggets will
stay the three seed in The Western conference because they're
up one, seventeen one oh two At San antonio with
(01:48:45):
about six minutes to. Go for what it's, worth The
lakers have extended the lead about four minutes, left up
one twenty to ninety two Over. Utah but it looks
Like denver the three. Seed lakers the four and the
first round of the playoffs our next. Weekend milwaukee lost
by twenty at Phil. Alfa Doc rivers will not return
As milwaukee's head. Coach Toronto Rip. Brooklyn The raptors moved
(01:49:05):
up to the five seed in The. East they'll Face
cleveland in the first. Round hawks lost their finale At,
miami won forty three to one, Seventeen, miami scoring at
least one hundred and forty points for the twelfth time this.
Season that is a league. RECORD nhl wins For boston And.
Montreal rory McElroy took The masters for the second straight.
Year more in a, Moment Ty gibbs was THE nascar.
(01:49:27):
Winner guys in some races this year we have mentioned
WITH Nascar Michael jordan the victory because team co, Owner
hall Of fame football Coach Joe gibbs the winner here two,
ways not only his team, winning that's his grandson that
got his first Ever Cup series victory to, Today Joe
(01:49:49):
gibbs From San Diego State. UNIVERSITY i would.
Speaker 4 (01:49:52):
Add, amen we're every Winn.
Speaker 8 (01:49:54):
Juge eighty five is still heavily involved IN. Nascar his,
son the Former stan for, linebacker was heavily involved with his.
Team and it's his late son's son that won this race.
Speaker 4 (01:50:07):
Time that's a beautiful.
Speaker 8 (01:50:08):
Sensational Joe, gibbs a guy who in a ten year
span As washington's head coach won Three Super. Bowls let's
get to the golf to wrap it up on This sunday,
night because there was a note FROM Sec Country Cole
kubleik that each of the last Ten masters champions were
inside the top two entering the final, round and as
(01:50:30):
it turned, out it Is rory McElroy the. Winner he
was tied for the lead to start the. Day for
the second straight year he's the. Champ Scotti scheffler finished,
second moving up just one stroke back after his final
round sixty. Eight, apparently in each of the last Fifteen
masters champions were within three shots of the lead through
the final. Round so what about the dold? Payout The
(01:50:52):
Players championship had given four and a half, million that's
the LARGEST perse on THE Pga. Tour The masters now
increased ITS perse and four and a half mill goes
to today's, champion a record total purse of twenty two
and a half million. Dollars not quite will live golfs,
get but, hey can't be can't be. Complainterers McElroy gets
(01:51:14):
the big, Check scheffler gets nearly two and a half
million for finishing. Second the four guys that tied for
third place today each get just over one million. Dollars
and at The masters, today if you finished in a
tie for twenty, first you still got a quarter of
a million dollars At, augusta so they will stay in The.
(01:51:35):
South THE Pga tour next weekend is At Hilton, Head South,
carolina then At New, orleans then In miami At, durral
and then At. Charlotte Live golf returns next weekend In Mexico.
City that's its only tournament this, month and then Early

Speaker 3 (01:52:00):
Look scotty had a, shot, Man scotty really had a
shot on seventeen where until one has, birdied he was
an inch away from.
Speaker 4 (01:52:11):
Birdie, yep and that was the deciding.
Speaker 2 (01:52:14):
Hole THAT i, mean, Yeah rory might have he might
have played eighteen, differently but, yes, yeah, no he had a.
SHOT i think it was who was it the fifteenth, Hole,
steve the par five Where scotty hit a terrible drive
(01:52:35):
and then he ended up in the woods and then
he hit a tree and then he just steal bird
and then he just went up and down from one
hundred and seventy five yards away in a.
Speaker 1 (01:52:45):
Tree that Was i'm, crazy, Wow.
Speaker 8 (01:52:48):
Birdie, fifteen birdied. Sixteen and in, fact the entire Weekend
saturday And, sunday no one single bogie For Scottie. Scheffler
no one had done that At Augusta saturday And, sunday
so it's nineteen forty two he had.
Speaker 4 (01:53:02):
It oh that that that's turning.
Speaker 2 (01:53:05):
Back.
Speaker 1 (01:53:05):
Man the course is so. Intense it's so, intense.
Speaker 3 (01:53:10):

members for decades and, decades and then you know when
The masters is not going to be told what to

those protests outside about, hey finally get a female, member

for them in the first round if they don't have
one or both. Players is it The minnesota or is
it The? Rockets, ugh that's an interesting. QUESTION i, MEAN
(01:57:14):
i feel LIKE i feel like you would probably rather Play.
MINNESOTA i just think The rockets are more, equipped and
The rockets hit the playoffs this year with experience because that.
Speaker 4 (01:57:30):
Group remember they were the two. Seed last, year they.
Speaker 2 (01:57:33):
Were the two, seed but the records were very, Similar
like there was just not a lot OF i didn't
feel like there was much difference.
Speaker 1 (01:57:42):
Last year in the top eight, Teams.
Speaker 2 (01:57:44):
Like there Was Oklahoma city and then everybody, else and
they were babies and they'd never been to the, playoffs
and now they've been to the playoffs and they Have
durant AND i would actually favor The lakers if they were,
healthy but they're.
Speaker 1 (01:57:58):
Not so that's that's WHAT i would. Say they're they're
they're just.
Speaker 2 (01:58:03):
Not AND i, MEAN i know the playoffs take, forever
but the chances of those guys being back and having
an effect late in.
Speaker 1 (01:58:15):
The series that feels, unlikely don't you? Think?
Speaker 4 (01:58:21):

EVERYBODY i THINK Jj reddick did a tremendous job back

Coach it's hard to, do and he's done, it especially
with a magnifying glass on top of your.
Speaker 1 (01:59:20):
Head, YEAH i think that's.
Speaker 2 (01:59:21):
