Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio. That's right.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
We're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios on
a day Montci that it was one of my favorite
days of the year as a child.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
And they have rowing debt.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
It's rowing. It is ruined. Conference championships are ruined. I
used to love this growing up in the SEC.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Used to matter. It used to matter.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
You know.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
You see, like all the SEC East sc West would
be a big deal. You wake up early and watch
whoever doesn't play big defense in the big twelfth play.
Then you watch the SEC play and now everybody's like, oh, well,
you know.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
I just watched the other people. Are they strolling the playoff?
Speaker 2 (00:39):
But thank god, thank god, Manci, of all of these
games today that used to matter a ton. We'll talk
about more but why they do or do not and
what we can do to fix it at the bottom
of the hour. But thank goodness that today, right here,
or this December sixth, we have one verse two. We
have a heisman. Can't we have a heisman on the line? Potentially? Okay,
(01:03):
we have we have It feels like even though that.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
I know that both of these teams are in the playoffs. Yeah, yeah,
and it really doesn't matter. It feels like it matters most.
It feels like it.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
I hear what you're saying.
Speaker 5 (01:18):
You want it to matter like it used to where
you wanted to maybe die if your team loss, right,
Like you felt like something inside of you died when
your team lost, because that's how much it mattered.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Like Alabama is going to have an opportunity to compete
for a national championship. Well, I'll put it like this,
what whoever loses this game is gonna be locked in
to having an opportunity to compete for the national championship.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
And I just don't like that.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
You just don't like that.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
I just don't like that.
Speaker 5 (01:43):
Yeah, you know because I visit as we've discussed here
in college football, and I'm enjoying this.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
I'm looking forward to this game.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
But I know what you mean about the stakes, Like
I could see that because it really doesn't matter. We
know these teams are moving forward, they are playing for
glory and for Heisman.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
That is what is going to be determined.
Speaker 5 (01:59):
And if you think of Digo Pavia, he's at home
hoping this is gonna be a like seven to ten
game where neither quarterback does anything, and it's a defensive
showdown and he's like, hello, I am right here, thank
you so much.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Don't forget about me for Heisman.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Don't forget about Diego.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
You don't forget That's what he's at home hoping for,
because you.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Know why he's at home.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
They didn't make the SEC championship game again, like again, correct,
These things used to matter people. It used to really
matter who won a conference championship, Like, oh, right, now
you know who won?
Speaker 6 (02:30):
You know me?
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Conference championships at Ohio State has the last five years
anyone anyone zero? Yeah, it was like no, you know
how much they care about it? None, very little, very
little used to matter. All right, Anyway, they have an
opportunity to win one in sixty minutes. This game is
about to kick off. Number one Ohio State as it's
(02:51):
been for if not the beg. They started the year
number one and have been number one from pole to pole.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
That's what happens when you don't lose. Then you add
on to that.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Indiana also not you know as lost, but the number
one thing didn't work out. They kind of came out
of nowhere but have established themselves. Ironically enough, their their
biggest moment. I think their heisman moment for Fernando Mendoza.
That Penn State game. Penn State stunk this year. They
(03:22):
were in a dog fight versus Penn State. Ohio State
wasn't in a dog fight versus anybody. That's generally how
I've heard the breakdown of this game going thus far.
Ohio State kind of Goliath Pence, Indiana kind of David.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Where do you land?
Speaker 5 (03:36):
You know, it's tough because I think you go into
the season expecting, right the buck guys to just be
good and to possibly dominate the way that they did.
I think Indiana pre season poll maybe they were what
ranked late in the twenties.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Am I off by that?
Speaker 1 (03:53):
I mean they were a Cinderell cindere last year.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Correct the story of oh look at Kurtchignetti in the
transfer port to look at all it can do. So
then you saw him this year and it's like, well, okay,
well do it again, and Curtsey that it was like bet.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
Okay, right bet and now here we are like they
lived up to the expectation and then some which is
what Indiana has done, where it seems like Ohio State
has done what maybe a lot of people anticipated, But
I will say Indiana beating Oregon has a lot of
weight to me when you looked at when you look
at who Ohio State beat, It's like, okay, who did
(04:29):
you beat Texas in Week one? Who was preseason ranked
number one? And we saw they were not really a
number one?
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Here we are?
Speaker 6 (04:38):
You know?
Speaker 5 (04:39):
Several weeks later when Indiana beat Oregon, they were still Oregon.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Sure, so are still yeah?
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Correct? Yes, exactly.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
So I'm I am here thinking that the Indiana Hoosiers
are the better team right now, right now, yeah, based
on this season, I'm gonna say.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
They are so.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
I then I'll say this, I do not disagree with
you in that Indiana to me, has shown in more
impressive just games.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
That's another part.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Ohio State to me, has dominated their competition in a
way that Indiana necessarily hasn't. But at the end of
the day, all you have to do to get to
the Big Ten championship is continue to win. Now, obviously
that's pretty difficult, but just if you continue to win
like both of these teams had, it doesn't matter if
you win every game by one, you win every game
by four hundred. Now, I will say Indiana, sure did
(05:40):
have their fair share of mally wappins too.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
I think they beat Perdue by forty six last week.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
So you know you're we're right on track fifty three.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Sorry, right, but you know what I'm saying, like that's
a conference gap, right, So both of these teams that
we've seen at their best can be high octane, high engine.
Speaker 6 (06:01):
I just know.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
I put it like this, this is the thing that
and you'll.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
With college football that we watched it honestly earlier today
with some of these like the Texas Tech team beating BYU,
Like there's gonna be if you take the first few
days of the NFL Draft, there will be anywhere from
four to eight Ohio state players selected. There will not
(06:29):
be that many for Indiana, like there will be anywhere
on that Texas Tech defense. There are pros on that
Texas Tech defense. That BYU quarterback. I know he dresses
up like a linebacker, but he's a freshman. You know
what I'm saying, Like, yeah, bear bachmein. He wears forty seven.
He dresses up like a linebacker.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
You know what I say? He looks like rushing the X.
He plays quarterback, but he's a freshman.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
True freshman.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Right, So Joe Sky is the limit. We don't know
where that's going. But again, there's not.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Four to eight guys from that BYU team that played
today who's going in the first two rounds of the draft.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
I'm not saying they're not pros. I'm just talking about
in comparison. Because here's the deal with it. We'll talk
about this later on.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
We talk about the cam Ward versus Doors Sanders and
all of the things that go into that. The first
two rounds of the draft are about Don't get me wrong,
it's about production, but it's also way about measurables. Oh
this guy is this height, this guy is this speed,
this guy is this size. More often than not, those
(07:34):
guys are really good. That's why they have a better
chance of going first.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
And who's checking off the most boxes?
Speaker 7 (07:41):
Bing Ding Ding exactly.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
The Ohio state. He's got a lot of guys who's
checking off a lot of these boxes. Now I would
say this, I think that Indiana is the better coach team. Okay, Well,
to the point I have Ryan Day has been on
a stretch. I am not taking anything away from the
man who has not lost the game in over three
(08:04):
hundred and sixty five days.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Now, I mean, that's not an easy thing to do.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
It's not an easy thing to do.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
But when I look at what Indiana has done to
your point, consistently having what I would deem to be now,
they would not put I would.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Need to be a talent deficit.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Kurt Signetti is scheme and stuff up in a way
that they're taking advantage of this. Do you know what
I'm saying, They're taking advantage. They are taking advantage of
where they have their definit you know, saying where they
have their benefits in a way that like that was
one of the reasons why I thought that Michigan was
gonna have trouble with Ohios day they would have trouble
with Michigan. Oh Hostate wants to throw the ball all
(08:38):
around the yard. Now they've been more deliberate this year,
but you got first round receivers on either side. You
don't sign those guys to not throw the ball. Right,
Michigan historically'd be good against the past making them run.
So it was like kett Ohio State win a game
where they run one hundred yards or rush for over
one hundred and twenty thirty. Answer was, yes, can you
do it twice in a row, we'll see, we are
going to see.
Speaker 5 (08:58):
And I sometimes wonder if I'm giving in the edge
to Indiana in an unfair way.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Like I look at Ohio State and it's like, but
this is again, what is expected of you to do.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
Nobody is surprised that you are here in this position
with Indiana. It's like, you know, if you look at
like like a newly engaged woman versus a woman that's
had a diamond ring on her finger for fifteen years.
The diamond ring that is brand new, Okay, fresher, Sure
it looks shinier, even though they're probably the same thing.
It's just one is gonna look shinier.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
It's just new element.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
I've never seen it. That's the first time I've seen it.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
So there's like, I don't know if I am being
unfair in the way I am looking at Ohio State
because of that.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Sure, right, right, I get that.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
You can get what I'm saying. Again, there's a shiny
object and it's the Hoosiers.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Right, Why is it so shiny?
Speaker 2 (09:46):
It's just cousin of my baseball Like, well, you know,
why don't they just always do a starter instead of like,
you know, say a reliever from the bullpen and use
the good pictures for later in the game.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
It makes another sense.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
And you're like, well, if you've paid any attention to
this over the last hundred of years they've been playing
this sport is just not how it goes. You know,
I'm not saying it is one to one, but it
just revived to me up there. But again, we have
seen two of the better stories, I would say, of
the last two years right now coming to a head
right now at one and two, right Kurtzignetti and the
(10:24):
story of it's really honestly hijacked. The story from Deon
Sanders kurzing Netti is the transfer portal success story that
people thought that Colorado may have been right, that that
is what we are actually watching in the number two
Indiana Hoosiers and Ohio State.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Was this great team. Can they get over the rival?
Can they get over the rival?
Speaker 2 (10:43):
And not necessarily for what that means on the national states,
but for what it means in the building, what it
means in the you know, and got over the got
over the home and since then have not looked back
at all. Right, And the thing that impressed me ont
Ohio State this season. We watched them play the Texas game,
and we sat in here and I was on me
and Ian were going back and forth because Ian was like, dude,
(11:05):
you can't be that harsh on arts manning. Julian Sam
wasn't that good either, and I was selling our producer
I was.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
I was like, I get it.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
But what Sam was asked to do, it felt like
he executed it in a way that just projected better out.
I'm not saying either one of those has played great,
but they projected it out because you do have Grambling
State and you are gonna beat you know, Northwestern by forty,
so you have time to work on things in games.
Sharon Moore. But that's the point, right, you know what
(11:33):
I'm saying. So I saw Ohio State while they started
out with that Texas game and they that they won
by one score. It was a one score game for
the entirety of it, going back and forth in that
game script. They then improved day by a game by game,
week by week, and brought along their young Fred, their
redshirt freshman quarterback. I saw Julian saying playing high school
(11:57):
football two years ago with my own two I right
now he's starting in the first one verse two conference
championship game in Big Ten history.
Speaker 5 (12:06):
Yeah, just looking right now, Ohio the most points they
allowed this entire season was sixteen Ohio State, Ohi, Ohio State.
Maybe there, Yes they are, Ohio is up to different
mischi Coanpuya.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
No, yeah, Ohio State, thank you.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Sorry.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
I was already moving on to looking at Indiana score
and Indiana the most they allowed was against Penn State,
they allowed twenty four. Against Oregon they allowed twenty. So
Ohio State only allowed sixteen and it was to a
ranked team.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Yeah, it's like this.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
They've been dominant all year defensively, and you know you
saw that at displayed last weekend in ann Arbor, and
you've seen it on display for them all season long.
But we will have more on this game as we
watch it as it progresses. Also to ACC with an
opportunity to take you know, what could be a relatively
(12:58):
easy projection for the committee, which we'll again we'll talk
more about the committee at the bottom of the art.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
But the ACC has an opportunity to just do like.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
A toddler and take that box of toys and just
flip it upside down and then not touch any of
them and sit in the corner and cry about it.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
Right, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
We are the Terrible twos maybe on display between Duke
and Virginia. We'll get to come of that in just
a moment. Also, three out of four losses for this
team in the NFL. Somehow still looking at the playoffs.
But I mean it might be time to close your eyes.
If you lose against Tomorrow months, it might just be
time to call it good night. Martin Wis Montsey belongings

I mean, just just bold lies, saying I was somehow
happier watching Indiana and Ohio they play in the Big
Ten Championship.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
But I am despite their video, I am watching it.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
All right, he's going back out there, Mendoza out, Mendoza in,
Mendoza back in.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Okay, let's go all right, set the stage man.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
Yeah, No, for a hot second, we thought we were
going to be robbed of this matchup because nine seconds
into the game, Fernando Mendoza took a hard hit, went down, yeah,
and stayed down.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
For like a hot second.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
Was it just a tough hit, Ian producer, Ian, it's
football football?
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Or was it a high hit?
Speaker 1 (15:13):
To me? I thought it was high, you know, probably
take the Ohio State defender and arrest him.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
No, he knocked out and it just didn't look like
Mendoza saw it coming.
Speaker 5 (15:24):
So you know, those hits when you're not expecting them
are much worse than when you It was more of that.
It was more of that, and I think it just
took his air out and so they took Mendoza output,
Mendoza in, but then Mendoza came back in and Mendoza
went back out.
Speaker 7 (15:36):
Yeah, because they actually followed all about it.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
The backup quarterback is a for Fernando Mendoza. One of
the Heights favorites is his little brother Alberto Mendoza. Yes,
so they keep it in the family there in Indiana
in the quarterback room. But now Indiana dealing with a
third and a be about four in their first drive
after that scary moment from a fur An end the Mendoza.

Tune into Countdown to Kickoff presented by bet MGM every
Saturday and Sunday morning right here on the Fox Shorts
Radio on the iHeartRadio app. I know one of the
games that the Fellas will be talking about tomorrow Indianapolis
at Jacksonville, Indy. I mean, it was not that long
ago they were giving Daniel Jones another nickname.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Yeah, it was not that long ago.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
I'm looking at Indiana Jones, right, I'm Indiana Jones Now.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
No more Danny dives.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
And it's also too not that long ago that I
remember watching one of my favorite early season I say
early season memories like it was that long ago.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
But things change. Fascines league's week to week.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Especially favorite things of the early season was Liam cohen
Is reaction videos on the sideline of oh my God,
throw him the ball right to Trevor Lawrence. Right, he
was like pulling his hair and slamming his clipboard and
you can just see him being that much more upset.
Every time it seemed like Trevor Lawrence would do one
(17:20):
of the things that Trevor Lawrence does, which is consistently
have three throws a game that's like, oh, I don't
know how anybody's better at this position than Trevor Lawrence,
and then have three throws a game where it's like,
I don't know if this guy is even eligible to.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Play quarterback in the NFL. Right, it was the latter three,
but Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Sometimes you look at me like, if you Trevor Lawrence
highlight tape some of the best, Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Low light one of the worst.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
If you just look at a highlight tape, you are deceived.
You are deceived. Absolutely.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
That's how I feel about Trevorlawrence. We've talked about him
just like I just I don't know if I'm sold.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
But here they are.
Speaker 5 (17:54):
Here, they are fighting for a first place with a
bunch of young players, and you coach sure like that.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
I don't. I I was not expecting them to be
in this position. Neither was I expecting the Colts. I
did it. I did anticipate the Colts to be better
than most people.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
I did think that Daniel Jones was going to open
up the field for Jonathan Taylor, and they started out.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Real hot, and to the point, we saw Daniel Jones
in New York and he was.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Bad because they had a bad oline.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Though there's also some level that there's we talk about bad.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
There's levels correct there are right like like you have
like a steak, then you have like a bargaining, you're
like fast food, then you're like dumpster Daniel Jones like fast.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Food, right, you know what you dumps of being more
than fast food food.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
They keep raising their prices but paying it.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
Yeah, like you're waiting. It's like in and out, in
and outs the best food, but you're waiting for that.
It is not fast food. You're waiting.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
You have to fast food. Invest you know, you're investing
time not money.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
You're investing time not money, which is sometimes worse.
Speaker 9 (18:50):
You know.
Speaker 5 (18:51):
Uh yeah with Daniel Jones and the Colts have had
a good O line for the last couple of years.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
So that's why I thought that. But here they are,
and I I don't know, man like Daniel Jones did
not look I mean, he has a fracture fibula. He
didn't scramble once last week.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
You say he didn't look I would say to me,
he looked like he had a fraction.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
I he didn't look like you know what this looks
like like, I don't know exactly what it's fokes to
look like with a fraction fiboul imagine it looks up
like that.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
He didn't have a single scramble, a single He couldn't
He didn't want to move. He was scared, understandably, so understandably.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
So they have not and that's a big part of
his game too. It is a big part of his game.
Speaker 5 (19:29):
And it helps Jonathan Taylor because you don't know what
he's gonna do, so when you're expecting him to not
do that, it does eliminate other options. And then you're
going up to Jacksonville where you haven't won since twenty fourteen.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
But I don't trust Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
I've lost bets on this game seemingly every year since
twenty fourteen. I remember all of them. I remember just
about all of them. Okay, In fact, one of them
was New Year's Day. I'm leaving with my girlfriend at
the time. Now, wife, we're leaving here. We rent at
a hotel for New Year's Eve, right to see the fireworks.
(20:07):
The only problem was we live in Los Angeles. Couldn't
see anything smug everywhere, right, So yeah, they had a
good New Year's anyway. But I remember thinking, I'm gonna
pay for this room when the Colts beat the Jaguars.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
This is the urban Meyer failed fired jag. When the
Colts beat the Jaguars seemed like.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
A safe bet.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
I'll tell you something. It wasn't.
Speaker 5 (20:30):
Let me tell you what, who did not pay for
the hotel rooms.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
I'm trying to remember what court maybe Philip Rivers didn't
pay for like it was that long, like you say,
it was quite some time ago. But to your point
you said that twenty fourteen, it just triggered me in
a way that I wasn't necessarily pair to. This is
a huge game though, for like playoff wild card seating,
especially when you consider that Houston got the best they
(20:56):
could ask for from the backup quarterback and that's an
undefeated stretch without the starter.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
That's crazy to think about.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
You know, I'm not over here spreading the the Davis
Mills gospel. We watched Davis Mill start seventeen games. That's
how I got seated Trout in the first place. However,
that is about the best you can ask for from
your backup quarterback. It's him going undefeated while he's out there,
and that team right now is nipping at the heels
(21:22):
of both of these guys. You have a bad two
weeks once see, and you could have a January you're
sitting at home.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
I mean, the Colts have not an easy rest of
the week. They're facing the Jags twice so this is
the first of two matchups. They still have to see
the Seahawks in Seattle. They still have to see the
forty nine ers, who are also not you know, taking
a step to the side. They're trying to also they're
right there, they're nine and four or something like that.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
And then they have to go to Houston. That's not
you need to win tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
They need to win.
Speaker 4 (21:51):
You need to win tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
I absolutely need to win tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
And we had some teams that needed to win today
to improve their seating in the football playoff or get
in in general.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
Steve de Seger will have that and everything else in
the world of sports right now.
Speaker 10 (22:08):
Hello to you two.
Speaker 11 (22:09):
And by the way, you mentioned the eight and four
matchup for tomorrow, India at Jacksonville. The Colts averaged thirty
points a game, which is still best in the NFL,
but they've lost three of their last four and have
not scored thirty in any of those three loss.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
Yeah, Jonathan Taylor has not been a little bit different.
Speaker 11 (22:23):
There was for quite some time Jonathan Taylor had more
touchdowns by himself than multiple teams had touchdowns.
Speaker 10 (22:30):
This season, things have quieted just a bit.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
So how's my fantasy team.
Speaker 10 (22:35):
She speaks from experience.
Speaker 11 (22:37):
We do have two college football games going on right now,
Battle of twelve and O teams on Fox TV Big
Ten Championship just getting underway. It is number one Ohio
State and number two Indiana in Indianapolis, home of the Colts.
The game is scoreless after the first five minutes, and
it's number seventeen Virginia scoreless mid first quarter against Duke
(22:59):
in Charlotte in the ACC title game. If unranked Duke wins,
it is possible two smaller conference teams make the playoffs
and no ACC College Football selection Sundays this weekend when
all the playoff teams will be named and the bowl
matchups come out. Western Michigan won in Detroit today took
the MAC title over Miami, Ohio twenty three to thirteen.
(23:20):
Also in early game, number four Texas Tech won in Arlington, Texas,
taking the Big twelve crown over BYU thirty four to seven.
Texas Tech had beaten BYU about a month ago at home,
twenty nine to seven, and it was a romp again.
Their only loss this season came without their starting quarterback,
when Texas Tech lost at Arizona State on a last
minute touchdown. Number three Georgia won the SEC Championship, beating
(23:44):
up Alabama twenty eight to seven. Georgia led twenty one
to nothing early in the third quarter. Bama's offense had
eleven drives and only eleven first downs two hundred and
nine total yards. Miami won the MLS Cup final to
one over Vancouver. Lionel Messi would to assists in the
second half. As far as the NBA scoreboard, we have
(24:04):
one final. The Nets were winners at home against the
Pelicans one nineteen one oh one Michael Porters junior thirty
five points. Pell's record three and twenty one. This year,
the Wizards are three and eighteen and trailing at home
early third quarter against the Hawks seventy two fifty seven.
In college basketball number ten, Iowa State a winner at
(24:24):
number one per Due eighty one to fifty eight. Fourth
rank Duke won at number seven Michigan State sixty six
to sixty. Louisville beat Indiana. Washington has won at number
twenty four USC In the NHL, Avalanche three to two,
winner in overtime at the Rangers and in overtime at
Florida Panthers seven to six. Over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
(24:47):
And we do have NFL notes as we not only
have many games tomorrow, but remember we have the Monday
night game in LA and it's looking like quarterback Justin
Herbert could play with the broken left hand. Official he
is listed for questionable against the Eagles. For what it's worth,
the team is continually optimistic that he can play Monday.
He's able to practice on a limited basis all week.
(25:09):
So far, Herbert has yet to take snaps from under center, though,
something he could not do last Sunday after the injury.
Either Chargers first round running back Omar and Hampton practice
fully again. He broke an ankle in Week five. Green
Bay activated wide receiver Jaden Reid. The Cardinals placed wide
receiver Greg Dortsch on injury reserve.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin, Wise Mans Belanos, coming
to you live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Steve
just ran through it a bit, and uh, we've seen
these conference championship games be blowouts thus far with the
Red Raiders, who to me are the team that have
the best chance to win the national Championship that no
(25:49):
one is talking about.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
Because of their defense.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Their defense is incredible that Steve just said that the
one game they've lost their starting quarterback was hurt. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Right, and it's like I have it now.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
I'm not gonna lie as I saw every single snap
down there in Lubbock this year.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
But that defense is incredible, all right. And I was like,
I'm looking at Julian saying throwing interception.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Second game with an interception consecutively for the young Ohio
State quarterback.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
We'll see how this one turns out. The first one
they're in the red zone now.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Did not matter in terms of the first game interception
for saying. But we were going through this off the
air about the college football player.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
You have a lot of questions.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
So as Duke goes into the end zone to break
the scoring seven to five, Duke taking a seven to
nothing lead over Virginia, who's the seventeenth ranked team in
the nation, and Steve was saying that if Duke wins,
that there could be no acc team in the postseason
at all. Manzi was looking at the standings. I don't
(26:49):
want to tell too much, but go ahead, go for it.
Speaker 5 (26:52):
No, I had so many questions for you when it
comes to the college football playoff picture because with Alabama
earlier today losing, I asked Mart and I was like, so,
here's my thing. If Alabama loses and they're out of
the college football playoff, how is it that if I'm
a team, I'm like, all right, then I'm never gonna
(27:13):
play in the SEC Championship again because you're gonna dock
me for losing a third game against a really good team,
first of all. Second of all, everything I read was
the three schools that are kind of like put together.
It's Notre Dame, Miami and Alabama, right, like, those are
the ones that are together as to like who's going
again and who's the bubble on the bubble. But if
(27:33):
you looked at the strength of schedule, which if that
matters to you, Alabama's was eleventh in toughness while the others.
Speaker 4 (27:41):
Were nowhere near that, nowhere near that.
Speaker 5 (27:44):
So Ifama Alabama, I'm just gonna like, okay, then don't
ever expect me to play in an SEC championship again
because you're gonna dock me because it's my third loss
when these guys aren't even playing.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
And so what somebody would say to you is, don't
lose to Florida State, right, Alabama lost to Florida State
to the beginning of the year, So then if you
got to the SC Championship game, this would be your
second loss, right, So like if two loss that CC team,
congratulations and welcome to the playoff, right, So don't lose
to the Florida State. So then what people say is, well,
that's Texas's argument right now. Texas is alleging that because
(28:15):
they lost for Ohio State in Week one of the year,
they are somehow shoehorned out of the College Football Playoff,
ignoring the fact that they lost to Florida who was horrendous.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Do you see what I'm saying?
Speaker 2 (28:27):
They ignoring that, right, So Alabama's case is we didn't
lose to anybody terrible.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Actually it did lost to.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
Florida State, right, But Alabama's case is we got to
the conference chationship game that we shouldn't be docked for
losing this game for an extra third.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
I have an easy solution to all of them.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
What's the solution. Give it to me.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
Stop catering to Notre Dame. Stop it, stop it.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
I don't care that it's cool that they are independents,
and it's the history and all this and that, and
I do not give a damn stop it.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
If you do not play in a conference, you should
be docked if you do not play, No all these.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
Tiebreakers, all this other stuff. You should not qualify if
you do not in a conference. The way to fix
this conference championship winner of the four Power four get
a bye. All right, conference championship loser, you're playing seeding.
You may not have a home game if you lose
the conference championship, but you're in the conference championship, you know,
So that works for all of this.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
And then finally, what we have got to get over
as the media.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
You know what, I get a lot of these people
who are talking about this work for the TV stations
that are putting it on.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Okay, However, when the NFL playoffs are going to start.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
In four weeks, there is going to be a team
that is left out of the playoffs or has to
play on the road that is better than a team
that has to play a home game. It happens every
single year, and you know what, somehow everybody's fine. Everybody survives.
So you know what, if Duke won the AEC championship
game today, you know what I would say.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
Put them in.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
Yeah, that's put them in. Put them in.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
And you know what, if you have an issue with
the fact that Duke's in there, change your tiebreakers, yes,
because you write the rules right.
Speaker 5 (30:13):
Because I was confused about that, I had to ask
my Mile saying, Mark, why is Duke in this game
right now?
Speaker 4 (30:18):
And he just said, to make it simple, it's tiebreakers.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
But like I don't care, right, Like I'm old enough
to remember when the twelve and four New Orleans Saints
are thirteen to three. New Orleans Saints had to go
on the road to play the seven and eight Seattle
Seahawks and lost. The year after they won the Super Bowl,
the defending Super Bowl champions was knocked out by Marshawn
Lynch grabbing his you know who jumping over the end
(30:43):
zone after breaking twenty six tackles.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
I had to see that. That was me.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
And you know what everybody else did in the NFL.
They went on about their day. Everybody was fine. Nobody
cried about it, nobody worried about it. And you know what,
if Duke somehow find a way to being the the
loser of the Big Ten championship game, you know what,
everybody's gonna do find the way to wake up tomorrow morning.
It'll be a okay for everyone. Your mouth a lawn
(31:09):
and you'll watch Sunday football.
Speaker 5 (31:10):
Would you say that Notre Dame has had preferential treatment
by not being in a conference.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Absolutely, and it's ridiculous, especially now beforehand. It's different when
Notre Dame was scheduling Michigan and they were scheduling USC,
and you're scheduling all.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
Right, it's different.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
And for whatever reason, mainly because of your lack of
wanting to join a conference, you don't have these all.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Like but I was in college. Notre Dame played.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Michigan the third Saturday every year. So you're playing equality
in theory Big ten opponent. Right, you played USC, so
you're playing equality in theory Pac twelve opponent. Some year's
USC be down, some years Michigan be down. So you
wouldn't get it all the time perfect, some years Notre
Dame would be down. But all but more often than not,
your independent schedule garner juice some juice. Now, I don't
(31:56):
give a damn in this conference with a Big twelve
has the Big Ten has twenty eight teams, and the
and the SEC has thirty six teams. I don't care
if you're when you're scheduling half of the a SEC
and the other half is Tulsa and Eastern Eastern State.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
Yeah, all right.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
You know what Notre Dame could have done to insure
spot in the playoff if they really wanted to join
this league and be in this championship game and beat
the living hell out of whoever else is in there,
because you'd be the best team in the in the league.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
But instead you would be independent. I get it, we
are games are on peacocks.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
So who can force the issue?
Speaker 7 (32:33):
Again?
Speaker 4 (32:34):
Who can force Notre Dame to join a conference? Is
that even possible?
Speaker 1 (32:37):
Well, that's what it is.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
There's no benefit as Duke turns over Virginia again, who
mets not Duke? So if Duke wins this game, Virginia will,
like I mean, the a SEC will likely be forced
out of the playoff. And a lot of this has
to do with the fact that Clemson stakes for the
state stakes. Right, So the other schools, like the ten
pole schools that's supposed to be holding this thing up
(33:00):
stink Like when nobody's paying attention to what Northwestern is
doing today.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Because because because Ohio State is really good, right, Indiana's
really good. The teams that are supposed to be there
are really good's that was what expected, right.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Florida State be Alabama.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
We did TV topics about how the State of Florida
football was back for three but that was that was it, right,
State of Florida football was back.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
It was back. I'm just it just upsets me because
it all could go back to mattering. We could all
make it matter again.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
Conference champion for power for conference champion, you win your
conference championship game, automatic by.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
For next week. Right, that's extremely valuable.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
Right, you lose that thing, you gotta play whoever, wherever,
whatever will figure that out. You may get a home game,
you may not, But that's just the way. And to me,
Notre Dame ineligible for a buye because you can't win
a conferenceation. If you're not playing this week, you're ineligible
for a bye.
Speaker 9 (33:55):
To me, well, I think that to your question Moncie
about like how do you who can force their hand,
I think that that's the only way to force their
hand is to make them ineligible for things like this
unless they actually join a conference conference.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
Yeah, that seems like that is, do.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
The same thing for everybody else who's who's independent. I
don't know who else is, but do the same thing
for them. If you want to play, join up and
play the game the way everybody else is playing. Because
we're we're moving to an NFL model, and in the NFL,
the NFC West winner may not be as good as
the winner of the NFC South. But that's just the
way that it goes. And everybody's okay with that. That's
(34:31):
like we go get the pick and choose.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Like last year, if the if last year, if.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
The NFL had the same rules as the college football Playoff,
both Minnesota Detroit would have been the one seed in
the NFL and Minnesota would have been the two. Like
a lot of people will say, oh, that's right, No, No,
that would stink. Things should matter, like the in division
wins should matter. They should division races should matter. The
(34:58):
NFL's the most popular thing on television. Maybe they just
copy it exactly, just copy it exactly. Structure and all
coming up next, we'll go to We'll go to court. Yeah,
Martin Weis's Monseys Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Martin Wess Monsey, so Fox Sports Saturday. Little Christmas music.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
In the air. You know, nobody likes to go to
court around the holidays, but you know what we gotta
do it, Mary is wrong you sports Sports Court.
Speaker 9 (35:32):
Okay, guys, that's right. It's that time of the week.
We are returning to the sports court. So just a
refresher on the rules here. I have a list of
people from the world of sports that I'm putting on
trial here in the sports Court. I'm going to present
their case to you, guys, and then it's up to you,
the jury, to tell me whether they're guilty or not guilty. Ready,
see Okay, first accused Lebron James stands accused. So the
(35:53):
Lakers beat the Raptors earlier this week on a wild
buzzer beater three pointer by Ruy Hatchi Mura. But the
bigger story was Lebron James having his legendary streak of
scoring ten plus points in a game come to an end.
The last time he failed to score ten points, guys,
was back in two thousand and seven. So that's how
absurd the streak was. He he scores ten every game,
it's automatic, but this was the first time since then
he hadn't, and after the game, a reporter understandably asked
(36:16):
Lebron if he's feeling any emotion after losing such an
incredible streak.
Speaker 7 (36:19):
Here's what Lebron said, now that the streak hasn't ended
for you, what feelings did you have?
Speaker 1 (36:24):
Any?
Speaker 2 (36:25):
What palty dies?
Speaker 6 (36:26):
You do? None?
Speaker 1 (36:28):
We won?
Speaker 9 (36:32):
So he almost you know, it was almost like he
thought it was an unfair question from the reporter, sort of,
So what do you guys think, Lebron James here?
Speaker 7 (36:40):
Guilty or not guilty?
Speaker 4 (36:42):
Guilty? Dump got Lebron, You're such a liar. You are
such a liar.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
I see you stephat trying to get the ten points
just last week in a blowout game.
Speaker 4 (36:53):
And you were in there and then you pretend like
you don't care. It's okay that you care, it's fine,
but to pretend that it was not a big deal
to you when.
Speaker 5 (37:03):
You want to be the record, the record holder for
everything because MJ is the goat and not you, absolute.
Speaker 4 (37:10):
Idiot liar straight to Jill.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
Yeah, he's guilty here right.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
I do not share the same vigor and anger that
Monsi does. But this is like Lebron, see, like Lebron's
only a few years older than me, and like Kevin Durant,
not the same age.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
Me and j Martin almost had the same birthday.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
So these I feel like we are not contemporaries in life,
but we are contemporaries in age.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
And I don't know what my life would.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Be like if I had to make my own social
content every single day.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
I feel like I would be cringey like this.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
I just wish Lebron like like, you know what I'm saying,
Like you look, you're too old to care about how
you're perceived in this moment.
Speaker 1 (37:48):
That's what this was.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
You could have said, yeah, this is a big deal,
I'm glad we wont I would have liked to keep
the Street cup.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
That's okay, that's it.
Speaker 4 (37:54):
It's just say that exactly like I get it. You're
you are happy.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
Let's move to the next one, all right. Next up?
Speaker 9 (38:03):
Brandon bean Bill's GM Brandon bean stands accused. So The
Pittsburgh Steelers released cornerback Darius Slay earlier this week, and
while many speculated that he would be claimed off waivers
by his former team, the Eagles, the Buffalo Bills actually
went ahead and scooped him up instead as they had
a higher waiver priority than the Eagles. Slay's agent has
now reportedly told the Bills that his client is considering
(38:23):
retirement and he's going to take a few days away
from football to decide what he's going to do. People
are speculating that Slay's plan initially was to get released
and go play for Philly again, but the Bills said,
uh uh, so, Bill's gm Brandon Bean here guilty or
not guilty?
Speaker 1 (38:36):
Oh, he's guilty. Whatever they're saying he did, he did that.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
Because here's the thing I never will forget for the
rest of my days in this job. We're hearing Brandon
Bean tell the Brandon Hols in Buffalo that it was
dumped a bitch about the lack of wide receivers, like
you said that, and it's like ever since then, I've
just looked at that roster and been like, brother, this
roster's not good.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
You need Darius Slay.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
Darry Say is like thirty something years old to start
at the upper side of side of Todavius White, who's
also thirty years old. You're supposed to be building a
championship roster. I was supposed to believe in this defense
and you're calling Darius Sledge.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
MONTI now I get what he's saying. But Darius Slag,
you're guilty.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
Put his ass.
Speaker 7 (39:18):
I almost consider putting him on trial.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
He's the guilty one here, like mine makes great points
and I hear what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (39:24):
But my guy, do you want a play or you
don't want to play? Like you had a plan?
Speaker 1 (39:29):
This is probably no?
Speaker 4 (39:30):
Okay? Then then all right, then just then, just sleeve.
You shouldn't have put yourself in a position.
Speaker 5 (39:34):
Where you thought you were gonna go back to Philly
and only Philly, because nowadays you could have put that
information out there and maybe it would have gone your way.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
But no, you want to play, you don't want to play,
fine and sit at home. You're guilty.
Speaker 9 (39:45):
Next up, Jared Curtis stands accused. The number one quarterback
recruit in the country. Five star Jared Curtis, who'd been
committed to Georgia for the past few months, flipped his
commitment to Vanderbilt a few days ago. He initially had
shot down reports that he made a decision, but just
a few hours later he confirmed it. So Andy now
has a direct successor to Diego Pavia. But Jared Curtis
guilty or not guilty? Here, Monsey, what do you think
(40:06):
not guilty?
Speaker 4 (40:07):
I'm innocent and Pole? You can't hate the player hate
the game.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
Oh he's inno citizen.
Speaker 10 (40:16):
These allegations are faults.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
Like just go off the top of your head.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
Yeah, University of Georgia quarterbacks who have been any good
in the NFL?
Speaker 1 (40:25):
I'll stop you.
Speaker 2 (40:26):
And the list starts and stops in the last thirty
years with Matthew Stafford and Matthew Stafford is older than me,
right sets and Bennett no like no like Justin Justin Fields,
no like?
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Name me a.
Speaker 2 (40:38):
Georgia quarterback that I would want to be. I'd much
rather take a Vanderbilt quarterback than a Georgia quarterback.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
At least a Vanderbilt quarterback that's Jay Cutler and nobody else.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
Still not a great list. Still not a great list.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
Listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio, I'll tell you what, Monci.
The first quarter of this game is winding down, and
it is right now in Ohio state seven to three
lead over Indiana. And to be fair, we are doing
our best jobs at entertaining America while watching this. But
I will say every time I look up at this
(41:13):
game so far, which is about every forty five seconds
or so, I'm watching Indiana do something impressive.
Speaker 4 (41:18):
It's true.
Speaker 5 (41:19):
It is true, even though the score doesn't say that
they're up right now. I agree, I agree, and it
hopefully that at some points right now, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
We'll see as they're in the red zone, they get
to snap off before the end of the first quarter.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
Run the ball. It'll be second and eight after the
commercial break. Now come to you live from Fox Sports
Radio Studios.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
This is Martin Weiss and Monci Bolanos. Now you know me,
I am a I am not necessarily the past. I'm
not necessarily the aggressor that my partner is at times. Moncey,
I am a peach.
Speaker 1 (41:54):
A peach.
Speaker 2 (41:55):
If the Games and the killer peach, right, you are
the pea James and Gant. You were the peach from
James and the Giant Peach. That was the case alight.
So I bet Monsei when she heard this the first time,
was like, oh, I like this. I bet you ran
it in the update a whole bunch of times.
Speaker 1 (42:13):
But when Ben.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
Johnson got hired right at that in Chicago Bears intro
press conference and goes, you know, he winked and kind
of leaned in close to the microphone and seductively said
kind of like beating Matt on the floor twice a year.
Speaker 1 (42:32):
And everybody and the press conference was like, oh my god,
did you hear that right?
Speaker 4 (42:37):
Yes? And I enjoyed that.
Speaker 1 (42:38):
I did.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
I know, everybody stirred up early.
Speaker 1 (42:42):
Everybody in Green Bay was like, what the hell.
Speaker 4 (42:45):
Dude, Yeah, we got you straight.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
Because now now some of the reporting around it has
come out because I heard it.
Speaker 2 (42:51):
Obviously, again, I spent way too much of my free
time dissecting these press conferences and listening to everything.
Speaker 1 (42:59):
Word, oh yeah, it's My wife is like, what's wrong
with you?
Speaker 4 (43:04):
Do you want to order a list of the thing?
Speaker 2 (43:06):
Right?
Speaker 1 (43:06):
Exactly where do you want to start? I got Liam
Cohen at fifteen minutes?
Speaker 2 (43:11):
Uh so, so you see when I heard it, I
was like, as a mutual friend friend of the show
Karma Vitally little bears inside.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
It, Yeah, you know, Carmen, what's going on?
Speaker 9 (43:24):
You know?
Speaker 1 (43:24):
And she was like, dude, I don't know where that
came from. He just kind of like set it and
shirted up.
Speaker 2 (43:29):
Some of the more reporting we've seen coming out this weekends,
like Matt Lafour is like, dude, I like I know
Ben Johnson the same way I know every other former
offensive coordinator I used to coach against. Like I see
him in the hallway, say what up. But we're not friends.
We don't see at the same table at lunch, you know.
So it was very much Ben Johnson planting his flag. Uh,
(43:52):
you know, talking talking a big game. Will he be
able to back it up?
Speaker 3 (43:59):
You know what?
Speaker 5 (44:00):
We've been talking about the Bears right these last couple
of weeks where it's like, to me, they they look good.
Speaker 4 (44:06):
It's not that they look elite, it's just that they
look good.
Speaker 1 (44:11):
And to your point, in a league with a lot
of seemingly suck right now.
Speaker 5 (44:15):
With it, yes, we'll take some good well takes and
it's just good kind of everywhere where.
Speaker 4 (44:20):
I feel like we look at other teams and it's like, oh,
you're really good here, but you lack a lot here.
Speaker 5 (44:25):
And so I feel like with the Bears, it's like
you're kind of just good across the board, which is
what's giving you the edge.
Speaker 4 (44:31):
They tend to win a.
Speaker 5 (44:32):
Lot of close games, and I feel like, you know,
they improved on their O line and you can see
that Caleb Williams looks a lot more comfortable this year,
especially as the season has progressed where he's not playing
hero ball every single snap like we had seen before.
He just seems a lot more comfortable. It looks different.
Of course, it's Ben Johnson and they've had a lot
(44:52):
of a lot of great offensive fun plays as we expected,
but they also have the most takeaways. It's also their defense,
they have the most takeaways. They impose their will on
you defensively. Maybe their offense is not as exciting, but
it's getting the job done.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
It depends now me, I mean personally, one of my
favorite things about football is that on every single play
there is a grown man moving another grown man against
his will.
Speaker 1 (45:20):
Yeah, you know what I'm say. It doesn't the other guys.
Speaker 2 (45:24):
Trying as hard as not to get moved on every
single play. And if you're a fan of that, do
you like what the Cogo Bears would do it?
Speaker 1 (45:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (45:33):
Like watching Deandres Swift to Kyle and I both hit
one hundred on Black Friday, I was like, oh, Benny,
give me more, right, give me more.
Speaker 5 (45:41):
You Every week you see something with the Bears that
you're like this is this game you won because of this?
But yeah, they have twenty six forced turnovers, that's four
more than any other team, seventeen interceptions, they've recovered nine fumbles.
But at the same time, the Packers have protected the
ball really well this season.
Speaker 4 (45:59):
So Jordan Love, do you know how many receptions he
has the season?
Speaker 1 (46:02):
Three?
Speaker 4 (46:02):
That's it, like they're protecting the ball.
Speaker 5 (46:05):
Well, he should have had four, should have had four,
which one.
Speaker 2 (46:09):
One of them against Carolina through the worst pass you
you'll ever see. And it actually turned out that Dobbs
quit on the ball of the back of the back
of the end. Yeah, but Will floated up there and
it should have dropped. But that's what I was about
to ask you about Jordan Love. I don't have the
numbers directly in front of me, but historically White Toyota
(46:29):
Thon it's his thing, right, Jordan Love generally as it
becomes closer to a December to remember, starts to turn
it on.
Speaker 1 (46:38):
Right. No, right, that's when he's kind of like half.
Speaker 2 (46:43):
And half until then, and then after that it is
full on go time for Jordan Love. In the way
that that in his stats and the way he's just
improved and protecting the ball. So if for Jordan Love
only have three interceptions right now, Monci makes me wonder
like is he just going to continue along this path?
(47:06):
Is Jordan Love just a heater? Is Jordan Love on
the on the Is Jordan Love on the way to
a forty touchdown for interception year like Lamar Jackson had
last Like you know what I'm saying, Oh, do we
think that Jordan Love is doing that?
Speaker 3 (47:20):
No?
Speaker 2 (47:20):
Or are we thinking that some of those dice are
gonna roll not seven and eleven? You know what I'm saying,
like as he's throwing it up.
Speaker 4 (47:28):
Yeah, no, No, if we're just with Jordan Love, to me,
the eye test just shows that he's like, he's fine.
Speaker 5 (47:34):
They're not winning because of him in my opinion, Okay,
do you got what I'm saying?
Speaker 1 (47:40):
Like, I don't.
Speaker 5 (47:40):
They're not winning because of of Jordan Love going off.
I just think that he is playing well and he
knows what he's supposed to do with the Packers. But
in reality, like the Packers, we've seen them when they
look bad.
Speaker 4 (47:52):
They look so lost to.
Speaker 2 (47:55):
Me truly, and I don't this This is something I
feel like is throwing on a lot. But I really
do think that they lack an identity.
Speaker 5 (48:02):
That's actually that makes perfect sense because I'm like, they
just look lost, like I can't figure out, why did you.
Speaker 4 (48:08):
Lose this game and then you won this one?
Speaker 5 (48:10):
I'm confused you you show me different sides and like,
I don't know, And I like that no identity.
Speaker 1 (48:15):
They play down to their competition, that is for sure.
Speaker 4 (48:18):
That is one hundred percent thing that they are doing.
Speaker 2 (48:20):
How many weeks have we sad here have been like,
wait a minute, the Packers are ten and a half
wint favorite.
Speaker 1 (48:27):
No, sometimes ten and a half pint favorite. I don't
care who is the other team in the NFL? You
know what I'm saying? What are we doing? I'm like,
the Packers are not gonna beat up my twenty one
point now get me the Browns? Give me the Panthers,
right it?
Speaker 2 (48:41):
Sure enough? Now the Bears on the other side, and
we talked about the Packers. Thing you generally like to
go in these matchups, or at least I like to
try to evaluate, all right, First thing, I'm looking at
injury report. Second thing, head coaching, quarterback, who's got the
better combination? I know that Matt Laflour has made the
(49:05):
playoffs a bunch. When I look at Ben Johnson and
I look at what he's done in Chicago, I am
wondering now if I'm ready to stake my claim that
Ben Johnson, just on a down to down basis, is
better than Matt Lafleour, because I think that Matt Lafleour,
(49:25):
Matt Lafour has always felt to me like more of
a play caller than a head coach. And there are
a lot of guys. Don't get me wrong, you can
win like that. But I think that like Kyle Shanahan
and Sean McVay differentiate themselves from certain other guys who
are just playing, who are play calling head coaches as well,
because there's more of a focus on the whole league,
(49:45):
of the whole team Rather Sean mcvalill tell you when
he got hired, initially he was just focused on his offense.
Speaker 1 (49:51):
Then after he lost the Super Bowl, really that have
to change us up.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
Kyle Shanahan's one of his strengths that I think is
hiring new coordinators right up until they hired Ve Wilkes
that year at the Robins Hall left to go to
the Jets. Rather how many offensive staff did he just
reload and reload, and they are having a quote unquote
down year now, and it's really more so. The other
teams in their division are sky high. Matt Laflour to me,
(50:17):
is a step below those guys. Ben Johnson to me.
Speaker 1 (50:21):
I get it. It's early.
Speaker 2 (50:23):
Obviously, she's still early and Matt Laflour's resume way longer.
Ben Johnson to me seems like he might be at
that level with those guys because of what he did
with the run game.
Speaker 5 (50:32):
Let's go back to the shining new object. The shining
new object is the Bears. It's Ben Johnson, not Matt
Laflour and the Packers that we are used to and
expected you to be like this and expected this. I
like what you said because I totally agree and we've
seen it in recent time. The Rams were supposed to
take a step back and they did not, and Sean
McVay was the reason for that, because he brings the
(50:55):
best out in everybody.
Speaker 4 (50:56):
Kyle Shanahan this year alone, where the forty nine Ers
lost every single into an injury, especially their quarterback.
Speaker 5 (51:02):
Losing important defensive key players, and yet has managed and
brought the best out of anyone who had to be
on the floor, anyone who had to be on the field.
Both of them, like you said, are not just calling plays.
They are managing their team to the best of their
ability and bringing out the best in each of their players.
And we've seen that in the last year this year
(51:22):
for College your hand and the Rams after losing, you
know what I mean, they're like, oh, it's gonna be
a down year for the Rams.
Speaker 1 (51:26):
Yeah, or no.
Speaker 4 (51:27):
Sean Mvay's like, what are we talking about. We're not.
Speaker 5 (51:29):
There's no down year when I'm here. And I think
that with Matt Lafleur's he's a play caller and also
more maybe like one of the guys.
Speaker 4 (51:44):
Like that, you know, like one of the guys.
Speaker 5 (51:45):
And then we're talking about lack of identity. That starts
with your head coach, like you don't have an identity,
and then your coach is probably spearheading that. But it's
because I think he's one of the guys and I
don't I don't look called Shanahan and that the players
around him are looking at him as one of the guys.
Speaker 2 (52:03):
Actually, I would think I think that's part of the
reason why the Niners are in the spot that they're in.
Contract wise, I think Shannan's a little.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
Too close to his players, and you know, like they.
Speaker 2 (52:14):
I feel like, you know how when you're in a
relationship with somebody, sometimes you may do something that is
not necessarily on the up and up, but you do
it to force somebody else to do something.
Speaker 1 (52:26):
Yes, you know what I'm saying. It's like like I
want the trash to be taken out, so like I'm.
Speaker 2 (52:32):
Not gonna stop playing my music got a lot high value,
you know what I'm saying. I want the dish is done,
so I'm not gonna pick up the laundry.
Speaker 6 (52:39):
Right.
Speaker 1 (52:40):
Well, I think if you're a forty nine er and
you're like, well, I'm like, I'm not.
Speaker 2 (52:43):
Coming to train the camp and I'm gonna get it
paid anyway, right Like, that's how for the forty nine
And I think, and part of that has to do
it just how much of an impact that Shanahan and Lynch.
I mean, I guess it's probably better to set your
organization up this way, but how close and how think
those guys are, And I think that's why you end
up with Brock Purdy being fifty million dollars a year.
Speaker 4 (53:07):
Sure, and that type of st Yeah, and you probably,
I guess.
Speaker 5 (53:11):
I'm just like, it's like what I'm trying to say
is and I'm not trying to take anything away from
Mount Lafore, but.
Speaker 4 (53:17):
That I'm one of the guys.
Speaker 5 (53:18):
That's just it has to do with the identity where
I feel like you're not capturing the guys to follow
in whatever message you're trying to project.
Speaker 4 (53:26):
Well, the whatever Colin Shanahan is saying, even if he
is one of the guys they're following, he's the leader
and it's clear as day.
Speaker 2 (53:34):
So a moment ago, we went through the conversation about
the kid from Georgia. His name again is the first
overall committe who flipped Vanderbilt. Jacob carsonis Jared Curtis. Jacob Carson,
who knows Jared Curtis. Right, we were talking about whether
he's a good idea bad idea.
Speaker 1 (53:56):
Here's the list.
Speaker 2 (53:58):
Gunners of Georgia, quarterbacks of recent no all right, Gunner
Stockton heard of him, Carson Beck heard of him.
Speaker 1 (54:06):
J T.
Speaker 2 (54:07):
Daniels. Now you heard of him because he played a
lot of college football. Stetson Bennett, you know a lot
of you know a lot of winning there, but again
in the NFL, he's been the Rams practice squad quarterback.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
For the entirety.
Speaker 2 (54:22):
If not, you know of his career, all right, Dewy
Matt is legendary. Okay, Jake fromm Sells Insurance. Literally, he's
Jake from State Farm. Jacob Eason, Grayson Lambert, Hudson Mason,
Aaron Murray who now does a podcast somewhere. I'm sure
he's as you see, career passing yards leader, but again
NFL career Joe Cox Matthew Stafford two thousand and six,
(54:45):
two thousand and eight is the last first round pick
out of Georgia at quarterback in twenty years. Go on
to Vanderbilt, my friend, you got more to gain there.
Now we'll play a game of more to gain, more
to lose in just a moment. Be sure to subscribe
to the Fox Sports radio YouTube channel. Just search Fox
(55:06):
Sports Traded on YouTube and you see the best videos
from all our shows. Don't stop there.
Speaker 1 (55:09):
You could also.
Speaker 2 (55:10):
Thumbs up or down on whatever custom T shirt Manti
has worn. That die, I said, customer, that's the wrong word.
Like this style T shirts you always got.
Speaker 4 (55:19):
Always have, like a graphic T shirt, graphic T shirt.
Speaker 1 (55:21):
That's what I mean making.
Speaker 4 (55:23):
He doesn't make her own No, I'm not artistic like
that at all.
Speaker 1 (55:26):
I've always wanted to make your own shirt. Yeah. I
have so many ideas for t shirt.
Speaker 4 (55:31):
Let's do it, dude, Yeah, let's do it. Let's let's
put the ideas on a pen and paper and uh
make them come to life.
Speaker 1 (55:39):
We just become best friends, I think, so business. Let's
get it done. Eminem no one is let's trademark that
no one has ever I've never heard that.
Speaker 7 (55:49):
Yeah, I don't think that's ever been used. But we're
going to do e m E m oh. Okay, we
can just do eminem like like the Rapper.
Speaker 4 (55:59):
Yeah yeah, but with the end in the middle so
he doesn't get mad, all.
Speaker 1 (56:02):
Right, Morga.
Speaker 7 (56:02):
More to lose, right, more to gain, more to lose.
Speaker 9 (56:06):
So I'm gonna run through a few NFL games here
for you guys, and you're gonna tell me in the matchup, who,
whether it be a team, a player, a coach, whatever,
has the most to lose.
Speaker 1 (56:14):
In that game.
Speaker 4 (56:15):
So most to lose as well.
Speaker 9 (56:16):
Okay, let's jump in. Gonna start with Titans versus Browns.
The Titans are in last place, in their division, as
are the Browns. But who in this game has more
to lose? We will start with Martin.
Speaker 2 (56:32):
You know who's got the most to lose in this game?
People would think it's Shador Sanders, and I agree with you. However, Yeah,
Schador is gonna start next week, and so is cam Ward.
But cam Ward has the most to lose in this game,
because if he looks bad, all of a sudden, people
are gonna start pulling up the numbers from weeks one
through twelve and be like, oh my god, is the
(56:52):
number one pickup?
Speaker 1 (56:53):
Bust?
Speaker 2 (56:54):
Are the Titans actually gonna draft Fernanda Mendoze after he
leads just come back against oileostate.
Speaker 1 (56:59):
Cam Ward's.
Speaker 4 (57:02):
You know, I don't agree with you, Martin.
Speaker 5 (57:05):
I think that cam Ward is the number one pick
and the team has not been good all season, so
one bad game against a really good defense cannot be
how you evaluate cam Ward for the future. Now, I
actually do think it's to door Sanders because I unfortunately
he's still in a position where he can't do right.
(57:29):
He can't do anything right. He also can't do to
some people anything wrong. He's so still in the middle
in like a polarizing way. So it's like, if he
does well, I think it may quiet some people down
and it can help Cleveland figure out what they want
to do with the future with him. I feel like
the Titans at this point are still like no, like
cam Ward is is our future? Like we're trying to
(57:52):
move forward with him and playing against such a good defense.
Can't You can't walk away and be like, yeah, he's
not it because the Cleveland's defenses all they have, that's
their identity.
Speaker 7 (58:03):
Yeah, this is this is pretty close. Guy, This is
a tough one.
Speaker 9 (58:05):
I think I'm gonna give the point to Martin here,
just because if cam War doesn't look anywhere near is
Goo to Chador, then that really starts getting loud.
Speaker 7 (58:14):
Maybe they should have taken we have to move on.
Speaker 2 (58:18):
Also, she spent half her answers telling my mind was
wrong instead of saying where hers was right, because.
Speaker 1 (58:23):
It's has to be how is yours right? That how's
the other person?
Speaker 9 (58:32):
Vikings versus Commanders. The Vikings are in last place in
their division four games out of the lead. Commanders are
third in their division, but not out of it yet necessarily.
But who's got the most to lose here?
Speaker 2 (58:44):
Who's got the most to lose To me, I've said
it at the start of the season, it's Kevin O'Connell.
Kevin O'Connell has got to turn this quarterback situation around
to look at least slightly passable, because.
Speaker 1 (58:58):
If it looks like it has the last this season,
like we can excuse this when you're on your fourth quarterback.
Speaker 2 (59:05):
We can't excuse the fourth quarterback of the year, which
the Vikings have been on in years past. We cannot
excuse quarterback play like this when this is a guy
you hand selected and also let Daniel Jones and Sam
Donald walk out the door as a result of hand
selecting him.
Speaker 5 (59:20):
So I think the one who has the most to
lose is Shador Sanders because I'm just kidding.
Speaker 4 (59:25):
So the one who has the most to lose honestly.
Speaker 5 (59:28):
Vikings fans, because if this goes terribly bad, Justin Jefferson
is going to be out the damn door.
Speaker 4 (59:35):
Like Vikings fans are on the verge of seeing the team.
Speaker 5 (59:39):
That they have in front of them completely change in
a matter of a year, so they cannot against.
Speaker 4 (59:46):
A Washington team that's old, that's kind of slow.
Speaker 5 (59:49):
Aside from there, I know they got some young rookie
quarter young rookie running backs and one and Jadon Dennis
was coming off of an injury. The ones who of
the most to lose are the Vikings fans because their
team is on the verge of just poof disappearing and
they're starting over.
Speaker 9 (01:00:03):
Grant answers from both of you again as always, but
point goes to Manci here. Justin Jefferson, the noise is
getting loud. He's always been such a happy camper, even
with the bad quarterback play and things.
Speaker 4 (01:00:12):
We ever hear anything from now, you see.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
How much more effective you are when you spend your
time making the argument.
Speaker 4 (01:00:18):
I wanted to report.
Speaker 9 (01:00:22):
Next up, the New Orleans Saints versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Saints are in last place in their division. The
Buccaneers are in first place in the division. But is
it a team, is it a player or a coach
who's got the most to lose here?
Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
Martin Todd Bowles has the most to lose in this
matchup in my opinion, because like this is a game,
the Carolina Panthers are nipping at your heels for your
NFC South dominancy, which has not resulted in much playoff success. Right,
they have not advanced the Conference Championship Weekend under Bowls.
Speaker 1 (01:00:51):
They have only won the Division under Bulls.
Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
The better Carolina looks with even all the question marks
the Panthers have, the better they look. The more it's like, dude,
we got a quarterback, we got a lot of weapons,
we got a good defense.
Speaker 1 (01:01:05):
What's the issue? Oh, okay, boom, it's you Manci it
is your turn. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
No, you've gone first every single time. It's quite nice.
Speaker 5 (01:01:14):
I feel collusion is happening, is what I'm gonna Wow, collusion. Wow,
I'm gonna have I'm gonna have Mary run a segment
because so she can ask me first every single time. Ah,
that is the right answer. Todd Bowles does have a
lot writing on I'm not gonna I'm not gonna lie,
but I will say I think at this point it's.
Speaker 4 (01:01:33):
For the Saints and I'm just gonna give you something different.
Speaker 5 (01:01:35):
Baker Mayfield isn't going anywhere Shampa Bay against this team
like they're gonna win. But I think the Saints are
looking ahead to their future. How is Tyler Shook gonna
look against a good team like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ones.
He looks good against bad ones, so how is it
gonna look against a good team. I think it's more
(01:01:57):
on him, Like Saints are figuring out their future and
they're are.
Speaker 4 (01:02:00):
You not tellers?
Speaker 6 (01:02:00):
Like?
Speaker 4 (01:02:00):
Could you beat? Could you be part of our real future?
So the guy was the most to lose in this
game would be Tyler Shuck.
Speaker 9 (01:02:08):
And I feel awkward giving either of you a point now,
it's getting too chippy. This just might need to remove
points from the game entirely now, point Monty in this one,
I agree with the Tyler Shuck point there.
Speaker 7 (01:02:19):
That's uh uh. Next up here Dolphins versus Jets Division matchup.
This is my Jets. I don't know what do you
guys think? Who's got the most to lose?
Speaker 10 (01:02:29):
Here?
Speaker 4 (01:02:30):
Marren, go ahead, go ahead, Marian tellis.
Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
You go first?
Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
Well, I am not one to argue, just simply this
debate and spar. Mike McDaniels got the most to lose.
It felt really good in Miami, for like it's felt
good right now after beating my Tyler Shuck, after beating
the Bills. Yet Mike McDaniel rolling around dive bars and
Miami like ha ha, you like that Bills fans. It
(01:02:56):
all comes back if you lose to the Aaron Glenn Jets.
All due respect, I thought the Jets should have beat
him the first time they played them. I think the
Jets have been better than their I forget what their
record is now, but that oh and whatever stretch, that
one in eight nine stretch that they were I thought
they were better and just had some bad luck bounces.
Miami's not the worst team in football, but they're real close.
(01:03:18):
They are very really really really bad, real bad.
Speaker 5 (01:03:22):
Yeah no, no, no, really, I say Mike McDaniel, I
think Mike McDaniel's a good one. But actually, based on
how Miami has handled this season, I don't think. I
don't think Mike McDonald's going anywhere, right, and so like
I think they like him.
Speaker 4 (01:03:36):
So you know who's actually on the hot seat. For me,
it's too a talk by law.
Speaker 5 (01:03:40):
We already don't think you can play in the cold,
and you're gonna go play against the Jets team that
is not good. Surprisingly, Miami right is not eliminated yet
from the playoffs. Surprisingly, Surprisingly says.
Speaker 1 (01:03:51):
The same thing the ACC does running all these timee breakers.
Speaker 5 (01:03:55):
Surprisingly, they're not out of the playoffs yet, so I
guess they're playing for something. But if I'm Miami and
I'm here wondering, like to a what what are we
doing here? From this point on, I I think Miami
likes McDaniel. I don't think he's going anywhere regardless.
Speaker 1 (01:04:08):
Of what happens another close one.
Speaker 9 (01:04:10):
I'm gonna give the point to Martin there keep things
interesting here as we head into the last I would.
Speaker 1 (01:04:15):
Have given that point so much. That was a better
argument than one.
Speaker 6 (01:04:17):
I know.
Speaker 7 (01:04:17):
You see, I agree with.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
Scared her. Yeah, you don't want to. You don't want to,
you don't.
Speaker 9 (01:04:23):
Want to talking over let me, let me explain, explain
all right, to a tongue of Iloa. He's undefeated against
the Jets. The Jets have never beaten so more so
of you better win, true, you better win. But it's
kind of like a movable force meets uh.
Speaker 2 (01:04:40):
You know what.
Speaker 9 (01:04:40):
Whatever that's saying is a movie object, Yeah, but the opposite,
because to uh doesn't win cold weather games. It's true,
but the fact that he's never lost to the Jets
tells me. I think Mike McDaniel has a little bit
more to lose.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
But also to her point, I think she had a
better argument. To me, it might be Dan would have
got fired at same time as Chris Greener. If he's
gonna get fired, I say.
Speaker 5 (01:05:03):
I was like, I just don't think he's going the
way that they handled this year. That's where I would lean.
And you know what I mean, I did not know
that about two. It's law against the Jets.
Speaker 4 (01:05:11):
I wouldn't used that for my own argument because you
really better not lose this time. Then you out the door.
You out the door.
Speaker 9 (01:05:18):
Last ones guys, Steelers versus Ravens. This is a really
interesting one. Both teams are six and six. This is
for the division lead. Who's got the most to lose? Mancy,
you go first.
Speaker 4 (01:05:30):
This came to me.
Speaker 5 (01:05:32):
I'm just so like meh about it because both teams
to me are like not that great, right, So like
I don't whatever happens, It's like, I don't think anyone's
scared of you. But I will say, based on how
it's going for the Steelers and their record, we're getting
to the end. It has to be Mike Tomlin, not
Mike Tomlin. Mike Tomlin's staying above five hundred record has
(01:05:55):
the most to lose, not Mike Tomlin.
Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
That record that they that we've been talking about for
years and years and years. That is what as I
risk the most with this game against the Ravens.
Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
I think Lamar Jackson has the most to losing this game.
I think that we all sit here, and I say
all of us, I'm excluding myself.
Speaker 1 (01:06:15):
I should say this.
Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
The general public looks at this matchup in thinks the
Ravens are way better than the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (01:06:21):
They're both sticks and six, but the Ravens are way better.
Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
I agree with Manci. Both of these teams are just
mid and like the actual mid. That what it used
to mean, not what kids call mid now. These teams
are just three point two great average across the board.
You are average.
Speaker 1 (01:06:37):
You are you know what I'm saying. Congratulations.
Speaker 4 (01:06:39):
No one is scared of you.
Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
No one is scared of them. And the thing about
the Steelers is that makes sense. They're supposed to be average.
When you look at the Ross rupping down, you look
at the Ravens.
Speaker 4 (01:06:48):
It's true.
Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
Lamar Jackson probably should have been the MVP last year.
And he's playing hurt and nobody cares. I care, but
nobody cares that he's playing hurts Lamar Jackson doesn't run
anymore wild. He's had like a hamstring and a knee
and an ankle and a foot in the toe.
Speaker 1 (01:07:03):
He's hurt and he's been hit a lot this time, right,
so this is probably why he's not doing it, But
nobody cares. I think Lamar Jackson has the most loose
in this game.
Speaker 9 (01:07:11):
I'm gonna give to the last point to Monci there
just because Lamar Jackson, I agree, a lot to lose here,
but he's won multiple m vps. I think he's he's
one of the best quarterbacks in the league regardless, and
people aren't gonna let one game sway that. But very
good point to bring up this.
Speaker 2 (01:07:26):
Watch what you hear on that, Watch what you here
on national television after that, congratulations, thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:07:33):
Point is to argue why you right, why I'm wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
See how many more points you start to get when
you started arguing with your point, I was you don't
have to put my candle out.
Speaker 5 (01:07:44):
I want to, but I'm sorry. It's the you know,
the small lawyer in me when I want when I want.
One time thought I was going to pursue being a
lawyer because I like to argue, and then and then
I was like, no, I'll never mind. I don't want
to defend someone who's guilty, and I think i'd be
really good at it.
Speaker 4 (01:08:00):
I can't. I can't defend someone who's got.
Speaker 1 (01:08:02):
Only argues on the righteous and the morals. That's that's
that's right there for you.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
The victim championship game is at the too many time out.
That sounds like a perfect time for Steve to second
updated time.
Speaker 1 (01:08:14):
Hello.
Speaker 10 (01:08:14):
It sounds like she was arguing like those political commercials.
Speaker 4 (01:08:18):
Yeah, so next time run ready.
Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
Do you want? Martin?
Speaker 10 (01:08:20):
Weis running your education.
Speaker 4 (01:08:23):
That's really it. That's really it, just turning it a
little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:08:27):
You mentioned Lamar Jackson is the most.
Speaker 11 (01:08:32):
Like political stuff. It'll be against you personally. It'll have
nothing to do with any actual item or argument. You
mentioned the Dolphins playing in cold weather forty degrees for
the Jets home game tomorrow, and no, the Jets are
no good this year, and the Titans and Browns aren't
any good and they're playing each other snow possible in Cleveland.
By the way, but can I just mention out loud
(01:08:52):
that the Jets defense doesn't have a single interception yet
this season, not one.
Speaker 1 (01:08:57):
We're in December.
Speaker 10 (01:08:58):
That's literally a.
Speaker 2 (01:08:59):
Good I think you should we should have we should
account for like the Lows and the Hogs.
Speaker 1 (01:09:04):
Yeah, we were talking about record. That's impressed. That is
I've gone this far with that interception.
Speaker 2 (01:09:09):
That's the press and they won three games or four
games only that at three nine they've won games.
Speaker 10 (01:09:13):
Just two takeaways total. Wow, this season.
Speaker 7 (01:09:16):
Only one of them was in the United States, one
was an international game with.
Speaker 10 (01:09:21):
The exchange rate, the other one doesn't count.
Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
Is that what you're saying?
Speaker 11 (01:09:25):
That's why I took the Blue Jays so long to
make the World Series again. It was something like ninety
wins only counted like eighty five Canadian.
Speaker 10 (01:09:32):
I'm I'm not sure about that.
Speaker 11 (01:09:33):
Number one Ohio State is leading number two Indiana ten six,
two minutes to go in the first half of the
Big Ten Championship game college football on Fox TV right now.
Indiana two for three on field goal attempts and it's
under two minutes to go in the first half. At
the ACC Championship in Charlotte, Duke, with a seven and
five record, is leading seventeenth ranked Virginius fourteen to seven.
(01:09:56):
Number three Georgia took the SEC Crown beating out Obama
twenty eight to seven. Twenty one nothing was the Georgia
Bulldogs lead early in the third quarter. Gunnerstocked in three
touchdown passes.
Speaker 1 (01:10:07):
Today.
Speaker 11 (01:10:08):
Number four Texas Tech in Arlington, Texas beat up BYU
thirty four to seven. They had beaten up BYU at
home in Lubbock about a month ago, twenty nine to seven.
Texas Tech wins the big twelve they have in their victories,
won by at least twenty one points in every w
they won, as I say twice against BYU.
Speaker 10 (01:10:30):
They won at Utah.
Speaker 11 (01:10:31):
A Texas Tech program had not won a conference title
outright since nineteen fifty five until today. In Detroit, Western
Michigan takes the MAC Championship twenty three to thirteen over Miami, Ohio,
which is now seven and six. College football selection Sunday
is this weekend. The Ramshan McVay is due to coach
Sunday at Arizona, but he traveled there separately due to illness.
(01:10:53):
LA Charger quarterback Justin Herbert, with the broken left hand,
is officially questionable for Monday night against the Eagles. Philadelphia
will be missing tackle Lane Johnson and defensive tackle Jalen Carter.
Due to injuries for the Cardinals, they placed wide receiver
Greg Dortch on injury reserve. Green Bay activated wide receiver
Jaden Reed. He's been out since a broken collar bone.
(01:11:14):
In Week two, Denver signed veteran tight end Mercedes Lewis
to the active roster. The Colts elevated kicker Blake Groupiex.
Speaker 10 (01:11:21):
Of New Orleans. Miami won the MLS Cup Final three
to one.
Speaker 11 (01:11:25):
Over Vancouver MVP lion O Messi with two assists in
the second half in Fort Lauderdale to the NBA. Brooklyn
sent New Orleans to another loss, one nineteen, one oh one.
The Pelicans are three and twenty one. Washington lost at home.
The Wizards record three and nineteen after Atlanta beat him
one thirty one to one.
Speaker 10 (01:11:43):
Sixteen triple double for the Hawks.
Speaker 11 (01:11:46):
Jalen Johnson four minutes left Golden State trying to get
to the five hundred market twelve and twelve is winning
at Cleveland ninety two to seventy nine. Pistons apparently will
be nineteen and five after tonight if they're winning at
home one hundred to eighty three over Milwaukee with under
ten minutes to go. The Bucks expect Gianni Santena Koupo
to miss up to four weeks with a string CAF
(01:12:07):
Oklahoma City Shay Gilgis Alexander will not play Sunday due
to left elbow Bersidis, Luka Donsich and the Lakers will
play Sunday. He missed the last two games for family reasons,
but LA's Lebron James is questionable. He did not play
Friday due to his back and foot injuries. LaMelo Ball
of the Hornets is out Sunday with a bruised ankle,
and in college basketball today number ten Iowa State one
(01:12:29):
at number one Perdue eighty one to fifty eight. Once again,
Duke is leading late first half against Virginia, and on
Fox TV, it's the Big Ten title game. Ohio State
ten to six over Indiana with about thirty seconds left
first half.
Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin, Weisse Mons Blanio's coming
to you live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. In
a want see, It's only happened once before mom in
NFL history, Matt a first round pick, played the NFL
games and then went back to school. Might it happen again?
(01:13:06):
It just might happen again. I know everybody's like, what
are you talking about? What are you stick around? Find
out Martin Wis wants to belonios Fox Sports Radio. Martin
Wise wants to belos Coming to you live from the
Fox Sports Radio studios.
Speaker 1 (01:13:22):
Now, I asked Monty this question in the break and
she was like, Oh, that's not fair. And do you
know the one the one quarterback?
Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
I give it away. I'll give away part of it.
First rounder who went back to school.
Speaker 9 (01:13:40):
After winning the Heisman, No, after playing in the NFL,
playing one year in the NFL, or Oh, I didn't
even know you were allowed to do that.
Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
They're not. So it's a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:13:52):
Josh Rosen is currently now a student at the Warton
School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. And the
reason why he's doing that, I don't mean if you smirched,
Josh Rosen, if you have to be listening, thanks, is
because it just didn't work out in Arizona and they
drafted Kyler Murray.
Speaker 1 (01:14:12):
And so now.
Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
I ask a question that I don't feel to be crazy,
but one of them that if you saw it on
the internet, you would click on it and be like,
what else does this guy talk about? Is Kyler Like,
is JJ McCarthy out of there for Kyler Murray?
Speaker 1 (01:14:31):
Again? Like, is Kyler Murray about? That's a plant another quarterback?
Speaker 2 (01:14:35):
Because Kyler Murray is not going to be in Arizona
at Week one of next season.
Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
Yeah, there have been at this point.
Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
Two and one in three fourth seasons of JJ McCarthy
outside of college.
Speaker 1 (01:14:52):
What we have seen thus far, I wouldn't want him
to be my Week one starting quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:14:57):
The Arizona Cardinals do not want Kyler Murray to be
their Week one starting quarterback. There is obviously miles and
miles of times and four of games to be played
between now and then.
Speaker 1 (01:15:12):
But I just wonder, could you see it? I could
see it.
Speaker 4 (01:15:17):
You could see JJ McCarthy going back to school.
Speaker 2 (01:15:19):
No, but honestly, I could see JJ McCarthy not being
in the NFL in the next three years from now,
not being in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:15:26):
Yeah, that doesn't seem like it just like the same
way of.
Speaker 1 (01:15:28):
Like Josh Rosen like, And it's not a knock to
Josh Roseen, the dude, you're not. Some guys just don't
have it right.
Speaker 4 (01:15:34):
It's just not what you think it's gonna be.
Speaker 5 (01:15:35):
And so far, it looks like JJ McCarthy does not
have it so far, it's like, that's not a crazy take.
Speaker 4 (01:15:42):
Can he change things around? I guess, But it just
in the what we've seen, it does not look good
or like you're close to understanding it or close to executing.
Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
And I think a lot of people would pull the
corollarya of well, Caleb Williams in Year one didn't look
great either, but.
Speaker 4 (01:15:58):
He didn't look like this about this and don't play
with me. That's not the same. That's not what we're
talking about.
Speaker 2 (01:16:04):
There's like you can have a car like I shop
with a used car market because I'm just not paying
all that.
Speaker 4 (01:16:11):
Money for you know, it is the dumbest thing, right,
so like we need it.
Speaker 2 (01:16:15):
But man, so like sometimes when I had first got
a new car, a new to me car, there's some
things you gotta work on in it. Yeah, you know
what I'm saying, Oh dang, you might end up on
the side of the road every so often, but we're
gonna fix this car. You know what I'm saying. This
is the water of the water pump is having it. Oh,
the alternators have it. So my window is stuck, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:16:37):
You know what I'm saying, it's just like that's it
would have been a lot better because you know what
those didn't do.
Speaker 2 (01:16:43):
They automatically right, Yeah, try to try to roll the
automatic window down.
Speaker 1 (01:16:49):
There's something from five that got rained in a little bit.
All right, good luck. J J.
Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
McCarthy feels to me that the entire engine is blown. Yes,
we need a whole new car.
Speaker 4 (01:16:59):
It does seem that way.
Speaker 5 (01:17:00):
And the only reason I looked at you the way
I did with what your statement was is just that
I feel like the Viking, Like I'm not against what
you're saying. I'm against you saying that Kyler Murray is
who the Vikings are gonna go get because I also
don't think Kyler Murray is making an helping himself out
in any way, shape or form.
Speaker 1 (01:17:16):
Do you think, let's let's level set the conversation.
Speaker 2 (01:17:19):
Okay, week one in the NFL next season, if you
had to say yes or no, is Kyler Murray starting somewhere?
Speaker 4 (01:17:26):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:17:26):
Okay, I think so too.
Speaker 4 (01:17:27):
I think so too. I just don't think it's Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (01:17:30):
I long to know if you anywhere. I just don't
think regardless, no.
Speaker 5 (01:17:36):
I think he's gonna get it. I think he's gonna
get a chance somewhere. I don't know where it's at.
I just don't think it's Minnesota. I don't think he
is the style that maybe O'Connell. Thank you, I was like,
what's his name? I don't think he's a type that
Kevin O'Connell necessarily prefers.
Speaker 4 (01:17:51):
And it's just because Kyler Murray likes to play video
games and not.
Speaker 1 (01:17:54):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (01:17:55):
When you have something in your clause that says you
have to study, that's never a good thing. That's never
a good I.
Speaker 1 (01:18:00):
Listen, I agree with you.
Speaker 4 (01:18:03):
It's not a good thing.
Speaker 2 (01:18:04):
However you could put you could put zero clauses at
all in JAJ McCarthy contract.
Speaker 1 (01:18:09):
It wouldn't matter.
Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
Yes, Like I hear your eyes, I hear the point
that you're making the contract. Yeah, you put a clause
in a contract that stinks. But it also kind of
STIPs over the point that he was being offered the
contract to be the highest paid player in the organization. Yes,
you know what I'm saying, Like Daniel Jones never got
offered like jam Donald rather never got offered that contract.
Speaker 1 (01:18:32):
Do you know what I'm saying? Like JJ McCarthy will
never They don't give it. Damn.
Speaker 2 (01:18:36):
What Jay McCarty doing is free time because what he
does at work is enough enough off. Yeah, you know
what I'm saying. So like they were worried about his
free time because of what happened at work. So I'm
not saying that it doesn't matter. But when you're dealing
with you know what I'm saying, if you, if you,
if you, if you got a skateboard or a bike,
you'd rather the bike.
Speaker 4 (01:18:52):
What you're saying.
Speaker 5 (01:18:53):
To add to the Kyler Murray thing, It's like they
did that because they actually do want him on the
field and they see the potential there With JJ McCarthy already,
it's like, is there any potential? Like what are you
willing to risk to see if there is something there
that hasn't been on topped But the small tapping that
we've tried, that they've tried, there's nothing there.
Speaker 4 (01:19:13):
It seems like I don't know. Can he go back
to school and can he play?
Speaker 6 (01:19:19):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:19:20):
What about playing in junior college? Because Diego Pavia argued
that it doesn't count and he won. So can JJ
McCarthy argue that they're not the same and that he
can play in college, uh, junior college.
Speaker 1 (01:19:32):
Go back out there.
Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:19:34):
You know, I'm just saying I would.
Speaker 1 (01:19:36):
I would.
Speaker 4 (01:19:36):
I would test anything, not what Diego Papa has done.
I would test everything against the z double.
Speaker 2 (01:19:41):
Well, first of all, the answer b A is absolutely.
I just wish somebody would stand up to them like
the ACC. Anyway, did you see this. It's a trend
going around maybe a couple months ago of semi pro
football players.
Speaker 9 (01:19:54):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:19:54):
Oh, man, I'll try to find the videos for you.
Speaker 2 (01:19:56):
It was old, it's but it reminds me of what
you were talking about, baby JJB. I think you can
play some semi pro bawl oh? Yeah, just real quick?
Speaker 4 (01:20:04):
Can you go to Canada?
Speaker 2 (01:20:05):
So Ian was saying, you know, Tua has never won
against the Jets, who also lost never lost against the Jets.
Speaker 1 (01:20:13):
He's never won in a cold right right, It's gonna
be forty degrees in New York this weekend. I go, look,
I know that you you're a western of the Mississippi kid.
Forty degrees is not cold.
Speaker 4 (01:20:24):
You know I'm going to New York. I'm gonna be
so cold, you're.
Speaker 1 (01:20:27):
Gonna be miserable.
Speaker 2 (01:20:29):
But just notice how as you're there, and you're walking
the streets of New York. Notice how bundled you are,
and just look at everybody else's moving. Because the New
Yorkers are gonna be big, chilling. They're not gonna be
have any bother. You're gonna love it though. It's gonna
be great for you Western California. You will be a popsicle.
It'd be amazing.
Speaker 1 (01:20:48):
No, don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Is your gun?
Speaker 6 (01:20:55):
It is?
Speaker 7 (01:20:56):
Okay, I don't hear me.
Speaker 4 (01:20:57):
I don't hear you either. No, fine, you guys hear us.
We're good. No, can you hear me? You can hear me.
I can't hear you. Put your What about your plug?
What about the plug? What about the plug?
Speaker 5 (01:21:12):
Come stand next to me. We'll do the show real
close to each other. Do something microphone, come here, come here,
come here.
Speaker 2 (01:21:24):
As we sit here and try to figure out what's
going on, why don't you go ahead and play like
the sounder for the atomic dogs and and we'll do
that in just a second.
Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
Let's start Atomic dogs. Now they may be me, they
may be, but it's time to open the case.
Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
Because these dogs are gonna keep barking if they don't
get fat.
Speaker 1 (01:21:52):
And they're hungry. It's time for the atomic dogs. So
let's try to do this in reverse order. Then we'll
do the atomic dogs and then do the I hear you.
Speaker 7 (01:22:07):
Just yeah yeah, Monsi's up now, So I'm just trying
to sabotage the show.
Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
He's trying to look at my notes.
Speaker 1 (01:22:13):
Give me my notes. Here's the notes, ya, collusion.
Speaker 7 (01:22:19):
All right, we've evolved into chaos.
Speaker 1 (01:22:21):
We have devolved into chaos. Do you have an atomic
dog wants? I don't have one ready? All right? There notes?
Speaker 7 (01:22:27):
Okay, all right, well well well let me let me
set the stage for you guys. Something over the.
Speaker 2 (01:22:33):
Got it.
Speaker 9 (01:22:34):
It's a mess, all right? From week thirteen. Unfortunately, neither
of you guys atomic dogs hit.
Speaker 7 (01:22:39):
Last week.
Speaker 9 (01:22:40):
Martin, you took the Saints over the Dolphins. Monsie, you
took the Browns over the forty.
Speaker 2 (01:22:43):
An interception on the two point aversion to get a
return for it, Ah, Tyler shock, I don't want to
hear it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:22:49):
Also, it did not snow in Cleveland or bad weather,
so I got bamboozled.
Speaker 7 (01:22:54):
My defense, my defense, You were misled.
Speaker 4 (01:22:57):
I was misled.
Speaker 1 (01:22:58):
That's rough.
Speaker 9 (01:22:59):
But just to just to refresh the listeners here on
what atomic dogs actually are. Each week, you guys pick
one game from across the NFL slate and you pick
an underdog to win. Outright, So for this week, without
further ado, Manzi, who is your atomic dog?
Speaker 5 (01:23:13):
Okay, listen, I mean I I there's a few that
like intrigue me, but I'm not gonna lie. I think
Chicago is going to come into Green Bay and win
that game.
Speaker 4 (01:23:27):
Give me the Bears to upset the Packers.
Speaker 1 (01:23:30):
That's a good one.
Speaker 7 (01:23:31):
It's a big spread.
Speaker 9 (01:23:33):
I like that.
Speaker 4 (01:23:34):
I'm not I don't understand that spread. I'm so I
want to six seven.
Speaker 1 (01:23:38):
What is it? Six seven six seven six seven?
Speaker 4 (01:23:43):
I really forgot I read really, what is it's seven?
Speaker 1 (01:23:46):
It's seven point spread seven.
Speaker 7 (01:23:48):
No, that's to your point. Earlier, Martin, you were saying
we always see the Green Bay line and we're like, what, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
I am not buying that the Packers are seven points
better than the Bears. I'm with you, usen know by
that the Saints are eight and a half points worse
than the Buck and right now with Baker mayfield shoulder, however,
my atomicdog will beat we mean the New York Jetropolitans.
I guess the Miami Dolphins two and a half white Dogs,
Tyrod to Rod, I'm not sure he's only been in
(01:24:15):
the NFL for fifteen plus years. That's a starting quarterback,
at least for tomorrow. Give me the Jets, hey dlso
you smell that Manci That smells like the first interception
of the year.
Speaker 1 (01:24:27):
For the New York Jets. I guess the Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 7 (01:24:30):
Give me the Jets outright fourteen first interception of this
that night. Crazy might be.
Speaker 1 (01:24:36):
The only all right, might be the only only. Let's
make some picks.
Speaker 7 (01:24:41):
Get to the picks, Okay, So yeah, there it is,
there's the music.
Speaker 1 (01:24:47):
Okay.
Speaker 9 (01:24:47):
So to update you guys from last week, both of
you went two and three, So the overall score hasn't
changed here. But overall, Monsey you're thirty two and thirty
Martin you're thirty one and thirty one, exactly five hundred,
so you did get back to five a couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:25:01):
Times get degrees, yes.
Speaker 4 (01:25:04):
Got degrees up.
Speaker 9 (01:25:06):
For this week, the Week fourteen slay, Let's start with
this one, the Cincinnati Bengals at the Buffalo Bills. The
Bills are favored by six points in this one. Manci
who you got, you know.
Speaker 5 (01:25:16):
I the Bengals defense has like kind of I guess,
come alive a speech, But really it's the Bills offense
that to me has been a bit inconsistent, especially with
like Josh Allen. I know James Cook is probably gonna
go off, and I do think the Bills win this,
but I think the Bengals cover. I don't think the
Bills win by a touchdown. I think Bengals make it
(01:25:37):
an interesting game till the end.
Speaker 1 (01:25:39):
One of my biggest beefs in pro sports is when
people like me will come on the.
Speaker 2 (01:25:43):
Radio or television to say guys shouldn't play because games
don't matter.
Speaker 1 (01:25:47):
Games absolutely matter.
Speaker 2 (01:25:48):
Guys should play, especially for the highest paid person in
the dog all state, like Joe Burrow is, Hey, you
know why, because he's ruining the Buffalo bill season tomorrow.
I still think they wait, you think that I'm taking
add points all day off for sure? I mean Joe
Barrow against the spread that'll pay its tales stuition. Honestly,
Joe Borrow gets spread this time in the NFL, go
for it.
Speaker 9 (01:26:06):
Next up, the Indianapolis Colts are going to Jacksonville to
take on the Jaguars. The Colts are favored by a
point and a half here as the road team. Remember
Daniel Jones still has that fractured fibula.
Speaker 7 (01:26:16):
But we'll start.
Speaker 1 (01:26:17):
It's still fractured.
Speaker 7 (01:26:18):
It's still fractured. Martin, Who you got, I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:26:21):
Gonna go with the Indianapolis Colts.
Speaker 4 (01:26:23):
No, no, no, no, no, no no no no, no,
no no no.
Speaker 1 (01:26:25):
I take that back. I take that back. You said
the Cults are favored right by a point and a half,
by a point and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:26:30):
Yes, I want to take I'm taking the Jacksonville Jaguars
as the underdog to cover this game, Matt Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (01:26:36):
I mean, Indianapolis still might win.
Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
But they don't Weird things very much like weird things
are happening in the radio station right now, weird things
happen for the Indianapolis Colts in Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (01:26:46):
It might be a one point win. Yeah, I hear that. Yeah,
it's it's all. It's bad. Give me the Jacks, you
know it's funny.
Speaker 7 (01:26:54):
Oh no, no more technical difficulties. Why buy there? We
go over the other Mike Monso.
Speaker 5 (01:27:01):
So here's my thing about this game is that I
truly feel that I don't believe in the Jaguars.
Speaker 1 (01:27:09):
I know the Colts.
Speaker 4 (01:27:10):
I know, I know the Colts have not been great.
Speaker 5 (01:27:12):
In fact, the Colts, as I going back in, they've
lost three to the last four.
Speaker 4 (01:27:18):
It thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (01:27:19):
Jonathan Taylor hasn't done anything, and neither has my fantasy
football team.
Speaker 4 (01:27:22):
But I don't think.
Speaker 5 (01:27:24):
I don't think the Jags are are as good as
their record says. So I'm gonna say the Colts need
to win. Jags have the tiebreaker over the Colts in
the division, so the Colts can't let this one go.
Speaker 4 (01:27:34):
It's the first of their two matchups. I'm taking the
Colts to win. They're gonna win by at least a
field goal.
Speaker 1 (01:27:38):
Somebody really should be recording this, by the.
Speaker 7 (01:27:40):
Way, for it Okay.
Speaker 9 (01:27:43):
Next up, Pittsburgh Steelers going to Baltimore to take on
the Ravens. The Ravens, as the home team, are favored
by six points. Manzi will start with you this time.
Speaker 1 (01:27:51):
Who you got?
Speaker 6 (01:27:53):
Who is it?
Speaker 7 (01:27:54):
Steers Steelers, Ravens, Ravens favored by.
Speaker 4 (01:27:56):
Six Ravens Steelers Ravens. I listen, I get it, I
get it. Steelers.
Speaker 5 (01:28:01):
Steelers are rough, and so are the Ravens in so
many different ways. I don't the Ravens, y'all Zay Flowers
for my fantasy team one touchdown. Lamar Jackson has not
had a touchdown in three games, four games, something like that. No, no, no, man,
let me tell you what's happening. Steelers are gonna cover.
Ravens probably win if Steelers cover that.
Speaker 2 (01:28:20):
Though I go with Monsei, I agree the Steelers not
only do Honestly, for me, the Steelers have to cover this.
Speaker 1 (01:28:27):
They need to cover this in a way that I
just I cannot.
Speaker 2 (01:28:31):
Accept the fact that the one in six Baltimore Ravens
are about to take over this division. If this so,
I will really have to agree with all of the
Mike Tomlin haters who say he's got to go and
I don't want to.
Speaker 1 (01:28:41):
I don't want to do that. That's gonna be.
Speaker 9 (01:28:43):
Really ugly for me. So I need the Steelers not
only to cover this game, but to win this game. Okay,
moving on next, the Chicago Bears at the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers as the home team, are favored by seven
points as we got to a segment ago.
Speaker 7 (01:28:57):
But uh, Martin will start with you this time. Who
you got in this one.
Speaker 1 (01:29:01):
One of the things that I love the most about
the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 2 (01:29:04):
They move grown men against their will every single especially
since to buy we watched Jordan Jordan Carter had to
get hurt doing both of his shoulders after they played
the Bears. All right, I expect the Bears be able
to run on the Packers. I expect it to be
a lower scoring game as a result. I'm taking Chicago here.
Speaker 4 (01:29:24):
Yeah, no, no, green Bay is not ready for what
Chicago is going to bring.
Speaker 5 (01:29:28):
As I took Chicago for my underdog pick, so obviously
Chicago covers absolutely.
Speaker 7 (01:29:35):
All right.
Speaker 9 (01:29:36):
And the last one for you guys, the Houston Texans
at Kansas City Chiefs. The game is at Arrowhead, but
Chiefs are still favored by three and a half points. Here, Monty,
who you got woo Listen.
Speaker 5 (01:29:46):
I think Will Anderson Junior and Danielle Hunter are going
to give Patrick Mahomes a hard time. It's the Houston
defense is not gonna be easy. But it's honestly it
really We've been saying this, but it is do or
die for the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (01:29:58):
What's the spread again? One more time?
Speaker 7 (01:30:00):
Three and a half.
Speaker 4 (01:30:02):
Gimme Houston to cover, gimme Houston to cover three and
a half.
Speaker 1 (01:30:07):
That sounds you hear is the Kansas City Chiefs demise.
It's over.
Speaker 2 (01:30:13):
It is over this weekend, It's over for this season.
Travis Kelsey said they're all in one core games. If
they had only played that through one score games, they'd
be almost the one sequel. You know what, That's not
how the game works, brother, not how the game works.
I think the Houston Texans win this game outright. I
know I picked the Jetsrimia, Tommy dalg I think the
Texans win outright as well. Like Kansas City has not
(01:30:37):
played well against a good team all year, I think
it continues.
Speaker 1 (01:30:40):
Give me the Houston Texans. I do think that they're
better and offensively.
Speaker 2 (01:30:44):
I think they figure it out now, as Julie's saying,
gets sacked Ohio State ten, Indiana six with fourteen minutes
left or show in the third quarter. We'll get to that.
But the real drama the ACC Championship game. Duke's still
in the lead now, fourteen minutes left in the third quarter.
If Duke wins this drama, all types of drama will
(01:31:06):
unfold in the ACC.
Speaker 1 (01:31:08):
One person who's really close to that drama.
Speaker 2 (01:31:10):
Will be joining Aeron Taurres and Jason Martin after our show,
but we'll break that down Martin Weis and Monty in
just a moment coming to your life from the Fox
Sports Radio studios. I'm Marin Weiss with mont.
Speaker 1 (01:31:28):
High five to us. Yeah, because we rock.
Speaker 4 (01:31:31):
You wouldn't even have noticed it outside of.
Speaker 1 (01:31:34):
Me saying no, it's not working. Yeah, it's not working.
I'm gonna put that video up on social media. We
should cause that's the first.
Speaker 4 (01:31:41):
Time in my radio life that you had to play
musical chairs.
Speaker 2 (01:31:45):
Musical chairs and it's always like a funny thing about
sharing a microphone with somebody. I didn't realize how short
it is, not just how short it is, but how personal.
Speaker 1 (01:31:55):
It felt like I need to, like, you know, just
like this is but what do you mean mine's not working?
Speaker 2 (01:32:01):
It's almost like driving somebody else's car, like you want
to take extra special care because.
Speaker 1 (01:32:05):
It's not I'm not moving anything, even though you like
probably shouldn't just the mirrors, but like, I don't want
to buy my car.
Speaker 5 (01:32:11):
You were hunched over the whole time, trying to get
yourself lowered to the microphone because it was set up for.
Speaker 1 (01:32:15):
Me tough scene.
Speaker 2 (01:32:17):
Yeah, but we got through it like pros exactly because
football season starts at Thanksgiving. There's no time for any
excuses at a time like this, There's no time for
any reason. It's all about what happens on the field
and just sitting there watching the conference championship games play out,
low scoring matchup in this Ohio State Indiana game.
Speaker 4 (01:32:38):
Thus far day I go. Papa is happy about that.
Speaker 2 (01:32:41):
We'll talk about that and just a minute with we'll
talk about that in about ten minutes with J D. Pakel,
Steve Desagre update you on everything. But Manci, I just
thought when I woke up this morning of you know,
football season starts after Thanksgiving. As we're putting the Christmas
ornament something, I'm like, okay, well here we are looking
at the one seed in each conference. You got the
(01:33:02):
Chicago Bears and the New England Patriots. My question to
you at this point, MONSI would be wis one of
these teams because look, if football starts at Thanksgiving, we've
seen both of them play a real quote unquote real game, right,
Because that's what you everybody saying. All these other ones
don't matter, even though they won all just about all
(01:33:23):
of them before, right, we saw them after days. If
he saw the Eagles Bears run all over the Eagles,
saw the Patriots throw a party.
Speaker 1 (01:33:32):
On the Giants. If you had to say one of
these teams is the realist of the real which one?
Speaker 4 (01:33:39):
That's a hard question. I feel like you can make
an argument for either team.
Speaker 5 (01:33:44):
Whether you want to argue that you like Mike Vrabel,
that you trust him over a first time head coach.
Speaker 4 (01:33:52):
Right, you could argue it that way.
Speaker 5 (01:33:53):
Sure, I guess what I'm gonna say, is I trust
Caleb Williams more than I trust Drake May. I don't
think Drake May has thrown for over one hundred yards
this season once over four hundred yards?
Speaker 4 (01:34:08):
Has he thrown over?
Speaker 1 (01:34:08):
No, you just said I don't think he's thrown over
one hundred yards.
Speaker 5 (01:34:11):
No three hundred? Sorry, Sorry, I meant three. I said,
I meant three hundred. I don't think he's thrown over
three hundred yards once this season, Drake May.
Speaker 1 (01:34:19):
If he has, it hasn't been very high.
Speaker 2 (01:34:21):
They've they they to your point, Josh McDaniels has drafted
our since the drafted has drawn up an offense in
which Drake May is getting a lot of relatively easy completion.
Speaker 1 (01:34:32):
Now he's throwing the ball down the field. I'm not
saying he's not.
Speaker 4 (01:34:35):
It's not that he doesn't have it all, that's not it.
Speaker 2 (01:34:36):
But there is a question of like a lot of
it is schemed up because also honestly though a lot
of it, they have a talent deficit. Uh, when you're
looking at the Patriots compared to a lot of their
for their record to be what it is, this is
not a a a one seed roster.
Speaker 1 (01:34:51):
You know what I'm saying. Like you are the Lions.
Speaker 2 (01:34:53):
You look at Philly, those are one seed type rosters.
That's not what's happening in New England.
Speaker 7 (01:34:57):
No, not at all.
Speaker 5 (01:34:58):
And also with I know the Patriots have a really
good defense, but I think that the I think that
the Bears are clicking and thriving at the right time.
Speaker 1 (01:35:07):
Right now.
Speaker 4 (01:35:07):
The Bears just look better to me. But it's a
coin flip. It's really a coin flip, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 5 (01:35:13):
I'm surprised we're talking about these two teams right now,
and I think that's the bigger thing.
Speaker 4 (01:35:16):
It's like, here we are comparing these two teams as
to who do you like best when they're the top
seed in their conference.
Speaker 1 (01:35:21):
We didn't pick it out of a hat, No, he
did not, but it sounds like it.
Speaker 2 (01:35:24):
You know what's funny about he said, you know, do
I trust first year coach or Mike Vrabel? Now I
get your point. I'm not saying that your point is
very well taken. But the only thing that a second year,
a second time head coach has that a first year
a first time head coach doesn't is he been fired.
Speaker 6 (01:35:43):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:35:43):
It's one of those things you said it out loud
because it gets said a lot, and it makes.
Speaker 1 (01:35:46):
A lot of sense, you know, and Rabel's got the
more experienced and like this and that.
Speaker 4 (01:35:49):
But it's like, also he's also been fired, got fired right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:35:54):
You know, yeah, like things went such a way. Now
that's that's the truth for.
Speaker 2 (01:35:58):
Vrabel because it seems like it was more of a
talent I'm sorry, not talent, but like a structural.
Speaker 1 (01:36:03):
Power pull from here and there and everywhere between Amy's
Sistrunk Adams.
Speaker 2 (01:36:10):
Actually I heard on the show before is you know
Buck Rising is a Tennessee beat rider. So he's there
in the thick, yeah right, him and all ten of
his best friends.
Speaker 1 (01:36:21):
You know what I'm saying. Millions of people aren't locked
into me, but he is.
Speaker 3 (01:36:25):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:36:26):
So they referenced the the you know ready, you know
it's ready aim fire right, Well they say the Titans
kind of move ready fire aim and then Bucks you
us ready fire a me right. I was like, but
that is I just always find that funny when you
hear people talk about so you know this is the
second time around, third time around.
Speaker 1 (01:36:47):
You know what that means. He's been fired. You know
he's been fired. Ben Johnson, TAM's credit never been fired
as a head coach.
Speaker 2 (01:36:54):
I will say this, Uh, I think that the I
like the Patriots cham it just to be the realist
of those.
Speaker 1 (01:37:01):
Two, Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:37:03):
And I get what you mean by that.
Speaker 2 (01:37:04):
I do because the rest of the AFC, to me
is lacking in a way that the rest of the
NFC is not. Like I look at the Bears as
the war like I look at the Patriots. One seat
is like at the end of the year, the Patriots
will still be the one seat. I look at the
Bears one seat like they could be a wildcard.
Speaker 3 (01:37:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:37:24):
And I like what you said because I feel like
with the Bears, like if they continue to do what
they're doing. It's almost like they got lightning in a
bottle and everything is hitting on all cylinders. With the Patriots,
it's like they're safe in a sense, like picking them
is a safe bet.
Speaker 2 (01:37:37):
Well, especially if Buffalo continues to look how they have
looked playing up and down to their competition.
Speaker 1 (01:37:44):
That's really I mean the Packers Packers.
Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
Really really good obviously, and the Lions, depending on how
you feel about I think Thursday Night change a lot
of opinions, maybe not long term, but seriously, Thursday Night,
like that was a kind of a do or die
type of game, and as a result, you know, the
Lions did, and the Cowboys kind of died, unless the
Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 1 (01:38:06):
Really die, right, But when you're looking at the wild car.
Speaker 2 (01:38:09):
Standings, it makes it almost impossible because especially it's really
that pesky San Francisco forty nine ers over there in
the West. What are you guys doing over all these
injuries and only four losses? Because you're right here with
everybody else looking.
Speaker 5 (01:38:21):
Caleb Williams also this year hasn't thrown for three hundred
yards in a game this year either.
Speaker 2 (01:38:27):
Do you know which starting quarterback in the NFL is
the lowest competion of percentage of qualifying quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (01:38:32):
Is it Caleb Williams?
Speaker 5 (01:38:33):
It is?
Speaker 1 (01:38:35):
It is can't sneak anything fast up.
Speaker 4 (01:38:38):
I think you're setting me up here. I think you're
giving me a fastball down the middle. Let me make
sure I'm make good contact.
Speaker 2 (01:38:43):
Yeah, it's Caleb Williams. A lot of the thirty three
qualified quarterbacks, she's the lowest. And I think that, honestly
may kind of give you a sense of oh, that's
negative this year. Absolutely for the long term, I think
that is a great sign when you are running the
ball with the efficiency that Chicago does. You know, again,
(01:39:08):
like we said in year one, you saw some flashes
from Caleb. I'd say in year two, you sign that
light is more. That flashing light is a little more steady.
It's just not quite as bright as it could be.
But I think when he figures the completion percentage part
of this thing together, right when he because it's the
easy throws that they gotta make, it's not Caleb Williams.
(01:39:29):
It has the ability to step out of four sacks
and then throw the ball eighty yards down the field
and make that play. It's like, what are you doing
on first Can you make this five year old on
first down? Because that's what we need you to do,
and he has that ability in him and once he
can look out below, like when Cayleb Williams's never going
to be a sixty eight percent completion guy, but when
he's a sixty four percent completion guy, Chicago's gonna score
(01:39:51):
a million points.
Speaker 4 (01:39:53):
I'm just looking also, sorry at Patriots full schedule, right,
I feel like the Patriots just get looking at their schedule.
Speaker 2 (01:40:00):
The AFC Weast, the AFC East, and the NFC North
are the reasons why the NFL is the best when
it comes to this playoff stuff, because if it was
the college football playoff, all we'd be arguing about is
how the NFC North deserves three teams and the AFC
East only deserves one team. We'll have these arguments in
(01:40:20):
a moment with j. D. Pakel, but first we'll kick
it over to Steve de Seger to announce there's been
something interesting happening in the Big Ten Championship game. Interesting
to one at least, and that one is me.
Speaker 11 (01:40:32):
The non Ohio State fan. Yes that is correcting, by
the way, you mentioned Caleb Williams. He would be the
first quarterback to be last in the league in completing
a completion percentage and still have his team or in
the number one seed. Wow, and there has been seating
for playoffs in the NFL for fifty years. Last quarterback
to even be in the bottom five on a number
(01:40:53):
one seed was Rex Grossman of the Bears, who got
to the Super Bowl about twenty years ago. So you
say saying there's the tenths Well, Ohio State, rank number
one in college football, is trailing in the second half
of the first time this year. Right now, with about
six and a half minutes to go third quarter in
Indianapolis at the Big Ten Championship game on Fox TV,
(01:41:16):
it is the Hoosiers in the league over the Buckeyes
thirteen to ten Indiana with about a fifty yard completion
and then a seventeen yard TV to take the lead.
They had a couple of field goals in the first half. Meanwhile,
late third quarter in Charlotte at the ACC Championship and Duke,
with a record of seven and five, is driving and
(01:41:36):
leading fourteen to ten against seventeenth rank Virginia. The SEC
title went to number three Georgia ripping Alabama twenty eight seven.
Georgia led twenty one nothing early in the third quarter.
Bama's offense on eleven drives had only eleven first downs
two hundred nine total yards. The Big Twelve Championship in Arlington,
Texas went to number four Texas Tech twelve and one record.
(01:42:00):
Every Texas Tech victory this season has been by more
than twenty one points, thirty four to seven. The final
over BYU today. They'd beaten BYU twenty nine seven a
month ago at home BYU after its opening drive had
only one hundred ten yards.
Speaker 10 (01:42:16):
Of offense on forty five plays. The rest of the day.
Speaker 11 (01:42:19):
In Detroit, the MAC Championship went to Western Michigan, beating Miami,
Ohio twenty three to thirteen. College football selection Sunday is
this weekend. Chargers first round running back Omari and Hampton
practice fully again. He broke an ankle Week five, Monday night,
the Chargers are hosting Philadelphia, and with a broken left hand,
quarterback Justin Herbert of La is officially questionable for the game,
(01:42:42):
but he has been able to practice on a limited
basis this week. He has yet to take snaps from
under center. Green Bay activated wide receiver Jaden Reid. Miami
won the MLS Cup Final three to one over Vancouver
MVP Lionel Messi with two assists in the second half
in Fort Lauderdale to the NBA sack Meno Zach Lavine
with forty two points tonight in a victory at Miami
(01:43:04):
one twenty seven to one eleven. Only two games still going.
That includes a Clippers tie at Minton. Right now, about
thirty seconds to go, James Harden, one of the top
ten scores in NBA history. Let that sink In had
thirty two points. Well has thirty two points. I should
say one oh four all thirty seconds left in regulation.
(01:43:28):
And the other late game is Dallas ahead of Houston
with under seven minutes left one oh nine, one o two.
In college hoops, Number two Arizona underway and leading Auburn
twenty to fifteen mid first half. Number ten Iowa State
one at number one Perdue eighty one fifty eight. That
ties the largest home loss ever by a number one team.
(01:43:49):
Duke one at Michigan State. Louisville defeated Indiana Illinois tonight
beat Tennessee in Nashville, and eight former players are on
the Contemporary Baseball Era Hall of Fame ballot this week.
Voting results will be announced Sunday night, and the will
be meetings in the off season or starting in Orlando,
and that's where this will take place. A couple notable
(01:44:09):
names out of the eight on the ballot, Roger Clemens
and Barry Bonds. Gary Sheffield too, for that matter, are
on this ballot up for the Hall with a smaller committee,
not the baseball writers this weekend.
Speaker 4 (01:44:21):
Back to you, you know, thanks Steve.
Speaker 1 (01:44:25):
Steve did all of that, he really did.
Speaker 2 (01:44:27):
And Michigan be Rutgers by forty one, number one team
in the nation when this thing starts over.
Speaker 10 (01:44:34):
It should be at least that's a basketball reference.
Speaker 2 (01:44:37):
That is a basketball reference, right, because Michigan should be
Rutgers by forty one in football too.
Speaker 1 (01:44:42):
And that's where we are about to turn.
Speaker 2 (01:44:44):
Whether the Jdepakel College Football Onsider for on three on
three of the Breaking News.
Speaker 1 (01:44:49):
Boy, I'll tell you what they're all over, this college
coaching thing.
Speaker 2 (01:44:52):
JD is as well the hard count on a conference
championship weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:44:56):
JD, how are you, my friend, brother? I'm good.
Speaker 6 (01:44:59):
We got some hardball we're playing for. Man, it's that
time of a year where you get the Starbucks season,
little drinks out, you get the weather a little bit
more crispy. That's how you know big time college football
is being play brother the pleasure.
Speaker 4 (01:45:09):
Beyond with you, Jadie, Thanks for joining us once again.
Speaker 5 (01:45:12):
I've asked you about the Heisman literally every week leading
up to these games.
Speaker 4 (01:45:17):
But based on what you were seeing with Indiana and
Ohio State.
Speaker 5 (01:45:21):
Is this helping Diego Pavia or Jeremiah Loves case for
the Heisman.
Speaker 6 (01:45:27):
No, I think you nailed it.
Speaker 11 (01:45:28):
I think you know that.
Speaker 6 (01:45:29):
I think, honestly, according to the good folks in Vegas,
I think Diego Pavia, like in real time, became the
favorite for the Heisland Trophy. Now they'll a quarter and
some change here for one of these two quarterbacks in
the Big Ten title game to go make a run
of this thing and have a moment, but it may
end up being a stalemate. It may go to for
(01:45:49):
the third in a row. Someone who didn't play on
Conference Title Weekend, which was the drum I've been beating
for the better part of the last few week because
I want to see Conference Sidle Weekend. I wanted the
Conference Sidle weekend and then it's going to go to
diego play. Who isn't playing on conference sydle weekends. So
to answer your question, absolutely heelth escape.
Speaker 2 (01:46:05):
So I personally think to your point, I am, I
believe like you do a conference championship weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:46:12):
If it if it starts to not matter, then what
even does anymore? You know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (01:46:16):
Like that, That's kind of where I'm at with it.
And I get that the ACC has some wonky tiebreakers,
but you know what, somehow someway every single March, we
watch teams that were it may not have been the
best team in their conference when conference championships and they
find a way to get in JD. I have a solution.
I want you to tell me why the powers that
be will not make this thing happen. And I actually
(01:46:38):
know the reason why, and I ask you why afterwards.
But we want these championships to matter, right, Why can't
there's four power conferences? Why can't the four power conferences
get the winner of that conference championship get an automatic
buy I understand that that means that some years you
may end up having seven and five duke win the
ACC championship game, and as a result, of a first
(01:47:00):
round by But in the NFL, every single year there
is a team that is not as good as another
team that wins the division that gets a playoff game
because that's how it works, and everybody somehow finds a
way to tune in and it'll be fine, It'll be okay.
Speaker 1 (01:47:14):
To all the TV executives, tell me why they won't
do it.
Speaker 6 (01:47:18):
Well, I think, well, honestly answer, they did do it.
And then it a year ago where they had the
five highest Frank conference champions and the four highest Frank
conference champions all got to buy in the college football
playoff and it wasn't It wasn't the worst thing in
the world. Like, I mean, boy, you stay looked serviceable
against Penn State for a little bit. I mean, Arizona
State gave Texas a great game into overtime, So like,
there's there's definitely a ton of merit to it. My
(01:47:40):
pushback on the comparison between the NFL's playoff and college
football's playoff is still down to there is not a
in my understanding here, not being the NFL guy, there
is not necessarily a world of a difference between the
Bills and the Texans or the Bank Goals and the Falcons,
(01:48:01):
whereas like Ohio State and Duke, it wouldn't even be
the same sport, like I mean it would legitimately it
would be PG thirteen stuff. Don't let your kids watch.
Speaker 9 (01:48:10):
It would be bad.
Speaker 6 (01:48:12):
And so I think the disparity between talent is a
reason why college football. I'm okay with college football being
subjective in nature, Like in a perfect world, we'd have
a better measuring stick for these teams and be able
to know the distance between the Georgia and I've been
of Ohio State and so on and so forth. But like,
college football's kind of always been this way where we
(01:48:34):
have a beauty pageant and we kind of go off
of the eye test and we like let computers help us.
Speaker 1 (01:48:41):
I'm not trying to off JD. I get what you're saying.
College football has always been this way.
Speaker 2 (01:48:46):
But also there was never an expectation that winning your
conference wouldn't matter until.
Speaker 1 (01:48:51):
The last five or ten years.
Speaker 2 (01:48:52):
Our last ten years, I should say, it used to
matter who won the Pac twelve until they got the
fourteen playoffs, and all of a sudden, you could win
your conference and be left out out right. So it's like,
how do we get the conferences to matter again? And honestly,
my biggest issue is why are we col talent to
a Notre Dame team that doesn't have to even participate
in this weekend and they're just automatically in. I think
(01:49:13):
Miami's argument is valid in that the tiebreakers of the
reasons why we're not playing this weekend are ACC rules,
not necessarily like college football rules, and they can change
those whenever they want to probably should, But Notre Dame
doesn't have to play today, and that to me should
count more in an era in which you have to
pick a conference championship winner and you have to see
(01:49:34):
how that all plays out for the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (01:49:37):
I don't hate that, Martin. I think money might just
gonna jump in tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (01:49:41):
I really do.
Speaker 6 (01:49:41):
I think it's gonna come down to it. They're gonna
see Miami Notre Dame side by side in the rankings
and they'll say, gosh, danger, are we really going to
on our head to head when they're that close. I
think it's gonna happen that way.
Speaker 1 (01:49:52):
So maybe this is a.
Speaker 6 (01:49:53):
Situation where Notre Dame stubs their toe competitively and maybe
they start to recon to the whole conference situation. Now,
I'm sure that that NBC money's pretty good. Some of
that will kind of calm them down after, you know,
cooler heads prevail.
Speaker 1 (01:50:08):
But I'm with you.
Speaker 6 (01:50:09):
I think Miami's getting in tomorrow. I really do.
Speaker 1 (01:50:11):
I hope they do.
Speaker 2 (01:50:12):
For the record, I hope they do. NBC money's cool,
you know what, have everybody come join you then? Right, anyway, Monty's.
Speaker 4 (01:50:20):
Let's stay on this college football playoff picture.
Speaker 5 (01:50:23):
What happens to Alabama losing today in a champion a
championship game?
Speaker 4 (01:50:29):
Do you put them in with three losses? Because I
said to Martin in the show, I was like, well.
Speaker 5 (01:50:33):
If I'm Alabama, I'd be like, great, I will never
play in a championship game again.
Speaker 4 (01:50:38):
Since you want to.
Speaker 6 (01:50:38):
Dock me like that, Yeah, I have two thoughts here.
I'll try to be concise. One, I think Bama's in.
I think them getting bodied by Georgia is a tough look.
It makes us all feel worse about Bama being in
the playoff. But at the end of the day, the
way I look at the conference title game right now,
unfortunately it's extra credit, and you can fail the extra
(01:50:59):
credit nine men and still getting a in the class
or get a passing grade in the class in the
college football playoff. My second thought is if BAMA does
get left out, Greg Sankee, commissioner of the SEC, is
going to bring down the force of a thousand waterfalls
and say, you want to leave my conference title runner
up out of the college football playoff? Okay, all right,
we'll take our college football playoff. We'll one with the
(01:51:20):
Big Ten, and we'll do our thing over here and
be just fine. There will be a reckoning of sorts
if Alabama is left out. Also, this is the last
year of the twelve team playoffs, this is the last
contract year. They're reevaluate this whole thing in January. That
will loom very large in that room when the commissioners
get together of their respective conferences and Greg, thank you.
(01:51:41):
Will not play nice. So there will be repercussions in
a massive way if Dama's left out. But I think
they're in.
Speaker 1 (01:51:46):
Well, this is the thing that bugs me about this,
because you're absolutely right.
Speaker 2 (01:51:50):
It's just it's like Tony Sopranos walking in there and
saying you're going to do business the way I say
you're going to do business, and that's the only way
the business is going to be done, because, like I
just how does it not benefit?
Speaker 1 (01:52:02):
And this is the answer to the question, because nobody's
in charge.
Speaker 2 (01:52:05):
Nobody's in charge, So whoever's allowed us with the biggest
stick is going to win every single fight. And the
SEC has the biggest stick, and the Big ten has
the second biggest stick right behind them. And we're all
playing baseball right now, so everybody's hitting home runs. And
the ACC's got a tooth pick, and the PAC twelve
it has it has a splinter, right, But like, how
does it not benefit? Even like the like if they
(01:52:28):
go through the college football playoff, go through the negotiations,
and all of a sudden, it's four teams from the
Big ten get in, four teams from the SEC get in.
Speaker 1 (01:52:36):
And everybody else is good luck.
Speaker 2 (01:52:38):
Like I guess it's at what point is it cutting
off your nose to spite your face?
Speaker 6 (01:52:46):
I think so if I'm hearing this this question correctly,
it's about the health of the sport of central Yes, yes,
because it's.
Speaker 2 (01:52:53):
Like it's gonna be the Big twelve in the SEC,
I mean Big ten in the SEC, like it is
the AFC and the NFC.
Speaker 1 (01:52:58):
But like there's way more than that in college football
that matters.
Speaker 6 (01:53:04):
And this is my thing too, like going back to
the conference title weekend stuff like I am I am
up for the conference tidle weekend mattering so much as
we can place stamphasis on the regular season like that.
The issue I have with New kidding the college football
playoff bit is it means that what they did during
the regular season, of them having five losses, I'm like, well,
then what was that all? What were these last twelve
(01:53:24):
weeks four? And I guess that The rebuttal there is like, well,
but it did enough during ACC playing in the regular
season to this position.
Speaker 1 (01:53:31):
The rebutal is the tie breakers.
Speaker 6 (01:53:34):
That's the real ATC's got to fix their time I mean,
the whole thing is I saw a take out there
that was like, hey, just put Miami in, just like
they forget these time breakers. Put Miami and they give
us the best chance. And I didn't hate I mean,
it's a crazy idea. I didn't hate it, but uh yeah,
there's there's a lot of layers. The right answer is
is probably not a solution that makes everybody happy. I
think it's all a matter of like what do you
(01:53:54):
want to get out of college football. Do you want
to get the biggest and baddest playoff with the most
you know, competitive and exciting postseason, or do you want
to try and keep the regular season intact and try
to keep what built the sport what it is as
intact as possible. Y'all can kind of tell Whereleen based
on the way ran those two.
Speaker 2 (01:54:12):
But that's my two cents, and you know, JD, I'm
with you, Thanks you for coming on the show. Lock
in all right to Jay de Pakel, I'm not telling
him to lock in because he's always locked in. He's
the on three college football insider. He's all over there stuff.
I know he's got takes with so much conversations about
conference championship weekend and even get to talk to you
about Matt Campbell to Iowa to Penn State.
Speaker 1 (01:54:34):
So check his YouTube all of that for that conversation
because Jayd's been locked.
Speaker 5 (01:54:38):
In on it.
Speaker 2 (01:54:39):

(01:54:59):
JD made it great point in the in that you
know what else has a regular season that used to
matter immensely and now doesn't. I'll tell you in just
a moment, you want to talk to anybody.
Speaker 4 (01:55:12):
Clippers game.
Speaker 2 (01:55:13):
I did see the stupid Clippers game. Fox Football sat
all right, one word answer? Did James Harden send home
Chris Paul?
Speaker 4 (01:55:23):
Maybe?
Speaker 1 (01:55:24):
Oh, that's a good answer, Martin White. Fox Sports Radio
comes to your life.
Speaker 2 (01:55:33):
In the Fox Sports Radio studios, Martin Wise and Monzis
Monte is about to hit the mean streets of New
York City?
Speaker 1 (01:55:43):
Have you been before?
Speaker 9 (01:55:44):
I have?
Speaker 4 (01:55:45):
I really like New York. I like the fast paced
lifestyle in the city.
Speaker 1 (01:55:53):
Not now, but at some.
Speaker 2 (01:55:54):
Point we're gonna get you on the record or something.
I feel like every time I asked, she's like you, yeah,
I really like that. Now I haven't asked you about
too many crazy things. So he's never been like a no,
I don't really like that. And I know that there
are things that you don't like.
Speaker 4 (01:56:08):
Oh, I don't like most things I know, and that's
what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:56:10):
That's what I'm saying. I know, it's kind of why. Yeah,
that's why you see as people that's all about things
here speaking of people that you may or may not like.
Where's James Harden rank on the list right now? Oh, people,
I like, is it higher or lower than where he
ranks on the list of all time scores in the
NBA because now he's tenth.
Speaker 5 (01:56:29):
I know, I haven't torn because James Harden has really
has really been individually great for the Clippers like he has.
He has been the reason the Clippers of stayed afloat
over the last two years, and it's been a rough going.
But that's amazing that he's in the top ten all
time scoring. He's probably gonna get into top nine and
(01:56:50):
surpassed Shock because he's only like two hundred points or
so to pass Shack.
Speaker 1 (01:56:55):
I bet on it, Yeah, I bet on it. I
think James Harden will scores twitter points in the rest.
Speaker 4 (01:57:00):
Of the year, even if you were yeah, exactly, even.
Speaker 1 (01:57:01):
If he got hurt.
Speaker 4 (01:57:02):
I think you'll get there. It's like or something like that.
Speaker 5 (01:57:05):
So he's going to get up there, which is just
crazy to think that he's in the top ten, right, Like,
I feel like James Harden was dismissed by so many
people before he got to the Clippers, see that he
was the problem.
Speaker 2 (01:57:16):
I was reflecting on this because my like Luke Warm
not fully fleshed out. Take his NBA careers are too long.
M Like, there was a point in time that James
Harden was an extended significant a point in time where
James Harden was the only short list for MVP top
(01:57:37):
five and not fifth, Right, you know what I'm saying,
Like in one a few and all that, But like
was really had the Internet of blaze when that we
should argue about sports and not things that actually mattered online,
but about.
Speaker 1 (01:57:49):
How like do you like this style of play or not?
Speaker 2 (01:57:51):
And all of this stuff, and it all kind of
reminds they all kind of came back when Chris Paul
was cut by the Clippers midweek last week.
Speaker 1 (01:58:01):
It all kind of just reminds me.
Speaker 2 (01:58:02):
It's like, you know, this is not the first time
that Chris Paul has left the team in an odd way.
That James Harden it was now not just a part,
but like I think it's fair to say it was
not the plan for the Clippers. But at this moment,
(01:58:22):
the Clippers James Harden is the most consistent and best
player that they have on the roster.
Speaker 4 (01:58:26):
Absolutely right, So that wasn't the plan, But that's just
what is That's just what exactly right.
Speaker 1 (01:58:30):
So he's kind of the man. Yeah, do you see
what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (01:58:33):
So it's like he's kind of the man.
Speaker 1 (01:58:34):
Where you had James.
Speaker 2 (01:58:35):
Harden be who is definitely the man in Houston, kind
of be the man in Los Angeles. Chris Paul definitely
not the man either won and got kicked out of
both spots.
Speaker 5 (01:58:44):
You know how I feel about the whole thing with
Chris Paul because we talked about it earlier on other
shows this week that you and I you were filling
in or I was anchoring. I hate the way it
was handled because you brought Chris Paul back knowing exactly
what Chris Paul is about. Yeah, did he call you
out because maybe your defense isn't performing. I just put
on your big boy pants and take the criticism.
Speaker 1 (01:58:59):
For the record, Clippers did blow at eighteen point fourth.
What it leads aay, what.
Speaker 5 (01:59:02):
I'm saying Toash that you get called out for last
year they were top ten in defense, bottom five this year.
Speaker 4 (01:59:07):
They're not They're not good. And if someone's calling you out,
I just you know what Chris Paul is about.
Speaker 5 (01:59:11):
Like you said, we all have heard about the history,
whether it was in Houston, whether whatever, it does not matter.
So it's like you brought him back knowing all this
and then you did it at three o'clock in the morning,
like there could have been better ways to handle. So
I'm disappointed on what the Clippers did, But you just
mentioned how longevity, right, Like NBA players are playing so long.
What's crazy about James Harden is like you know Lebron,
James spends so much money on his body to try
(01:59:33):
and play here is like James Harden probably having chicken
wings every single night, Like you know, his physique is
not like the physique of Lebron, and yet he's still balling.
Speaker 2 (01:59:43):
He definitely is is built different as they say, Yeah,
James Harden is the athlete I would most like to be.
Speaker 3 (01:59:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:59:50):
I get that both because first of all, we're close
in age, like we're he's only like a week older
than money. Yeah, so I really feel like you're to
relate to his life and it's like dude, he's had
it all except for a championship. He's had it all all,
but I think, let me not. I don't want to
spare is the guy. He did this crossover the Carmelo
Anthony Plateau today.
Speaker 1 (02:00:08):
Good job by him. Is Ohio State gonna come back
or not?
Speaker 2 (02:00:13):
No, first time they've trailed in the second half all
year they've yet to come back. Thirteen to ten Indiana,
Who's yours? Who's your daddy?
Speaker 4 (02:00:22):
Who's your daddy? The Who's yours? That's who
