Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
That's right, we're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio
studios here on a Fox Sports Saturday. I'm Martin Whisch.
Joined it with Monci Bolanos on a Master's Weekend. Moncy,
you know, no NBA games today, but we do have
a I mean, some people would call it a solution,

(00:24):
but I like solutions to solve problems. This seems to
be like this is just going to add Like you know,
if the solution is add more problems to the NBA,
then they figured it out. We'll get to that. Just
a second out of silver, you know, just tinkering in
a poor way.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
De spread times, called for desper measures.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
And then you got back to school. Back to school.
Not Billy Madison, but Michael Malone. Is he going to
be able? How is he going to handle the rigors
of the ACC after he was able to maneuver the
Western Conference for at least one championship. But you know what, Monsie,
today I'll start with a T for the winners, a

(01:04):
T for the champions Yeah, may extended today.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Yes, I decided to bring Martin a congratulations drink because
his team did win. Not only did his team win
the natty that he's repping right now. He also kicked
all of our asses in the bracket. So the kids,

(01:28):
as I as I said, as the kids say, you
know ball. You know I texted him earlier in the weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
The only congratulatory text I got, which is why you
are my favorite person here.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
That's right, I got you, I got the rest of
you jokers.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
I know you saw it. I know you saw it.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
I'm proud of my partner, you know. I I clapped
when I read the email, like a gracious loser face.
But I was like, oh, that's all right, Martin, did it.
Good job. You know what I'm saying. Like I was
upset I lost, but I was so proud of you
as my partner. And like, also, you told me early
on Michigan's best team. You said, you know what you
told me this months ago, Michigan is the best team.
And I said, all right, well are you telling me

(02:04):
that as a Michigan man? Are you telling me that
without looking at at your team through rose colored glasses?
And it's hard, but you're right.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
It didn't matter what colored glasses I was looking through.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Was right? He was right?

Speaker 2 (02:16):
You know, really, when I felt good about. It was
when every when, all the and like the all the analysts,
the whole take was, well, you know, Dan Hurley's a
great coach. It's like, dude, Dan Hurley's not going to
play a minute in this game. All right, you actual
Wenderberg might not play, but I know Dan Hurley not
gonna play. He not gonna play a single second. Anyway.

(02:40):
They had to parade today in ann Arbor, and at
that parade Ward Manuel said that Dusty Bay will be
coaching Michigan for quite some time or some phrasing of
that nature. And it's like I was telling people this
entire search process, so as they're trying to fill the
North Carolina job, is Tommy Lloyd gonna go? Should Dusty
may go? Dusty ain't not going any damn where. Well

(03:04):
in the NIL era, Michigan paid ten million dollars for
a quarterback. All right, what do you think the head
basketball coach is gonna make? What do you think the
resources are gonna be available for that basketball? I know
so many people in the NL guess what they got money?
And so y'all want to change the rules to where
a champion circle you am can cast those checks will

(03:26):
guess what we'll do it. Frozen four is in the
National Championship game right now. Boston. Michigan lost in double
overtime to University of Denver, Washington too.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
But you know, you can't have everything relaxed.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
We are at everything school. We are at everything school.
So here's the thing. Part of the reason I did
have a little bit of nerves about Michigan was just
and it's a little different in basketball obviously, a tournament
like that, because there's no carryover to the next day.
You just survive in advance. How poorly you play one
day does not matter for the next. However, Michigan was

(04:02):
really putting up a lot of style points right It
was like, man, they're really crushing everybody they play. Does
this run out? Is this too much? Too soon? So
I saw that Rory had a six shot lead through
thirty six holes at the Masters, and again I'm relatively
new here. Like when east Side Golf launched their clothing

(04:23):
line is when I started to like lock in. So
one of my more memorable golf member is watching Rory
last Masters. I'm like, man, this is cinema. Close the window,
it's getting dusty here. Me I don't understand what's happening.
It's like, and I know that Rory has his history
of just of just choking miraculously, right, And even in

(04:45):
that one you're watching it, it's just like you how
many holes you play off? You know, Justin Rose is
working up, ready to hunt you down, bro, And sure
enough he ends up winning it. Everybody feels good. Six
So six shot lead at the start of play today,
and oh of course there's a fire all right, because

(05:06):
now he's not tied first with Cameron Young, who looks
Roy is the only player I think in the top
twenty definitely in the top ten to shoot even our
above are.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Above above over for the day.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
That, especially when you have that big of a lead,
is one of the toughest things about not just golf
but any individual sport, because you're not only competing against
like the opponent, right, you're also competing against yourself, and
at a certain point in time you might have this

(05:39):
level of I'm not this not I'm not this good. Right.
But like if you know, for example, as a baseball player,
you've hit a home run on the last three at bats,
you're probably not expecting to hit one on the fourth, right,
you're probably expecting to make out, right, you know what
I'm saying. It's like you're not expecting a seventy game

(06:00):
history to be eight. You know, these things are is
by the law of averages. But in the Masters, you're
not only competing against your you're competing against everybody, like
so many other people. And he makes a cut. Obviously
he's right there at the top, but you have to
deal with that in the first couple of days. So
that's as the pressure ratchets up, his game has gotten
worse and worse. And not to mention, like, you got

(06:22):
you got guys hitting holes in one right, Shane lower hits,
you got Scotty Scheffler. Everybody's clapping for him, the heater
he's on and everybody, and he's just looking like damn.
I was just it was all good with the morning.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Yeah, I was just about to say, it's not only
did McElroy start to go downhill after the first day,
but he hit a tree today and then Scotty Scheffler
is on a tear. The last person that you wanted
on a tear the day before going into you know,
the final round, like that is not what you want.
But he's still he's still at the top of the leaderboard,

(06:58):
one over Cameron Young out seven under on the day,
just like Scotti Scheffler seven under on the.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Pal And that's kind of where And there was a
lot of people talking about how the course needs course
super easy the first two days. It's like, all right, well,
clearly it's not so easy for some people, right because
the same people who were smoked it the first two days,
and all of a sudden he's looking like he's swinging
the club with the wrong hand, right. So, but it's
just shows to show you. I just that's why I

(07:26):
find fascinating, not just about this tournament in particular, but
like golf tournaments in generals. When you're watching it, you
watch guys melt down in a way that is really
because it's independent what you're what you are doing should
not matter. It shouldn't matter for everybody else. It's not
even like baseball, where you got a pitcher in a

(07:47):
batter and that's an individual matchup that then starts everything else. Right, basketball,
you got a one on one on any given moment
that then starts some other action. Football you have everybody's
gonna go one on one on every play. Golf, you
are competing again against yourself and then against everybody else.
So while you're in the middle of Bogey Bogey Bogey,
you're looking at cause you you know who's over there. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
You hear the roarers when it's something good, and you know.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
That they're not roaring for you. No pun attended. Nice,
But it's like I just so, I just fascinating this,
Like it's true. He was our reality television and high
level dramas you find it at a gusha.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Honestly, Like I watched several hours of this today and
I may have text Dan Byer a question or too.
Dan Byer is like in a staycation watching this. This
is like his you know, his favorite time of the year,
one of them, but this is one of them. And
I said, so, like, look at this straight. Is there
somebody who is impartial who is watching them put that
marker when they get to the green and they put

(08:46):
that marker to indicate where they're gonna put the ball back.
I was like, is there somebody watching them do that?
Or everyone just like we trust each other and he's like, yeah, no,
it's an honor code. There have been some golfers who
have been a little bit too lenient and have been
called out, but it is an honor code, and I'm like, yeah,
that's just something that I you have nobody there that's impartial.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Do you there have been and we can actually tap
I'm sure Steve the sagarette when he gets at the
bottom of the arc because I point out numerous examples
of this happening, but there have been several times that
people watching from home, watching on TV notice it. We'll
call in and say this, this golfer here broke a

(09:24):
rule on this, and they will then retroactively add strokes
to the to the final total. Wow or did ductor
depending on whatever the.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
I did not know that. I did see whoever it
was that hit the ball. Was it yesterday and landed
in the purse of a woman or a woman's bag?

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (09:39):
And then they literally had to say, well, if it
comes out of the bag, it lands here because you
have to hit the ball where it lies. But it
landed like perfectly, and I feel like that.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Should count is holding it out? I feel like, just like, yeah,
that counts. That's good.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
They just kind of were like, well, this is if
you remove the purse, where would it be. That's where
you gets to hit it, but I just like, well,
anything can happen, And how much do you.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Think that's golf falls worth? I was thinking about that.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
Like she wanted to turn to It depends like if
that was Rory, that that ball's worth a lot of money.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
I'm just wondering, like, I mean, I guess maybe it depends,
like what if he chokes this whole thing down, he
finishes like fourth place and you're actively watching the value
of the ball that that poor woman is sitting there
like I just got the souvenir of a lifetime, and
as she's watching the leaderboard, it's just like their percentage
of money is just going up and down like the
Couchy prediction market.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
But it would be like a bell curve because he
could collapse so hard that it's like a historic collapse.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
And then the value it's still valuable.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
I have the ball that started it all. Yep, Yeah,
that's it Rory McElroy. We'll see what he does on Sunday.
I know this this, I am not always guaranteed. I
am now Sunday Masters like you got me, But I
am not always guaranteed to be locked. This is the
best way to get me locked in. Yeah, and show
me a guy that had a massively on Friday who

(10:59):
then on on Saturday looks like he's just got the
worst night of sleep ever.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
And like you said, last year, everybody was so rooting
for him during the Masters because it was a fourteen
year gap Martin from his last major win. Like talk,
a fourteen year gap, and here you are, finally winning
the Masters. We all were rooting for him, and here
he is. It looked like he was gonna run away
with it. But is it the golf gods just evening

(11:26):
things out? As Dan Byer said in a text.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
To me, that might be what it is. So that's
the thing. The average is all you know. Basically, if
you hit the ball seven at bats in the row,
you're wondering when's the next one going to be? So
Exander Schaffletts, who the ball that went into the in
to that pink tte.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Somebody, somebody made pay.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Value a little bit. He's currently four under. Coming up next.
The NBA has issued new rules potentially to try to
solve tanking. And I'm just wondering if anybody actually understands

(12:07):
what's happening here, because for these to be deemed to.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Be good ideas madness?

Speaker 2 (12:13):
What are we talking about? If you have a question,
don't worry, we'll answer it next.

Sports Radio studios. You want to join the conversation, you can.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Before you tell him how to join the conversation. Can
I just correct myself on air?

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Go for it.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
Orry McElroy didn't hit a tree. His ball went in
the water, which is worse. He did in the water.
That's what there's somebody did hit a tree. It wasn't him.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
Well he could have hit a tree and then went
into the water.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
Yeah, he's just rolled into the water, which was just
like oof.

Speaker 6 (13:27):
Rough.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
It's rough times out there.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
That's like the thing like golf is lonely, man, it
really is. It's lonely out there. And if you're just
out there putting holes in the course and swinging, and
he's just hitting trees and getting into the water, and
it's just plus stroke plus the stroke come out here
at fists where we dropped the ball. Like, man, it's
like I'm trying to think, actually, what do you think
is lonely or being a picture who can't throw a

(13:52):
strike okay, or golfer that can't hit the ball where
he's trying to hit.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
I'm gonna say the picture because the picture other people
on your team are relying on you, okay, And it's
a little bit harder, you know, even though it's a
very individual sport, like you know, batter like you said,
batter against picture, Like there's matchups and all that. There's
literally people there that are waiting for you to do
something for them. When it's golfing. You're literally on your own.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
You have to take you grabbed your headphones. Yeah, I
kind of wanted.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
To hear what you thought first, but yeah, I mean
it was like, I that's.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
A good question.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
It is a good question.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
And I actually I think when you're when you frame
it as what's more lonely, I feel like it's golf
because you don't even have any teammates, so that makes.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
It lonelier to your point, like your.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
Teammates are still supporting you as a picture even if
you're actively letting them down.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
But yeah, that's you're.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
The second base is like you got it power.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
There's something about being lonely with other people that is
worse than being lonely by yourself. If that does that
make sense, because you're going to be more harder on
yourself if you let your team down the cause of it. Yeah,
Like I feel like it's it's so lonely with other
people than by yourself. That's the best way I could

(15:13):
describe it. But it's a great question.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
I agree. You know. Actually, I'm gonna I have these
are legitimately I have a million of these. I'm going
to do another one in an hour. I'm gonna do
another one in an hour.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Love it.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
It will also be it'll be baseball related but cross sport,
which is like which which which a bowler can't make
a strike? Or yeah, would you rather sports edition? You know,
I know the bucking fits do that? Would you rather
non sports edition? Maybe we'll just do it a sports edition.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Love it.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
I'm into it all right now? Would you rather not
fixed tanking teams? To be the answer to? Adam Silver
cannot say yes to like, it's just it's remarkable. So
Rob g s at the table.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
I was just about to tell you to the table,
all right.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
So, uh, this week during the NBA's General Manager meeting,
the most interesting thing say, uh, there's concept one right
in terms of how to try to fix tanking. There's
eighteen teams in the lottery, which is the bottom ten
that missed the playing plus the eight playing teams. The
bottom ten teams have an eight percent chance the next

(16:16):
eight split and descending order, all eighteen spots drawn. That's
one of the things, and it's kind of like that's
what other people were talking about. It ends up being
where they're talking about having flattening the odds for the
NBA lottery to where like, if you are the bottom
third or bottom fourth, then you are somehow like you

(16:39):
don't qualify like they want the fifth, sixth and seventh, sixth, seventh, actually,
and what that does and why it's ultimately foolish and
not even quite honestly worth giving much thought to, because
I should say this not worth giving much thought to

(17:00):
in in terms of like, this is not going to
disincentivize people from doing this doing this practice, right, It's
just going to incentivize them instead of aiming for the bottom,
to aim for the bottom third, right, you know what,
like you're still going to be in the same spot
because the fact that the matter is, in today's NBA,
there are not enough ways to improve your team without

(17:23):
getting a high level draft pick. There's just not enough
ways to do it. You can't do it in free agency,
you can't do it in trades, and so until you
are able to somehow maneuver if you are the Chicago Bulls,
for example, just fired their GM, and lord knows he
probably deserved it. The job wasn't getting done. But and

(17:43):
let what are they supposed to do? Well? I'm not
saying that what he did was a good thing, but
the Bulls have been a five hundred team, give or
take since Derek Rowse left r right. They live in
the play in right, but without losing twenty five have
more games. They don't get to the number one pick

(18:04):
or two pick that I think that Patrick Williams was
the fourth pick in the draft. He buffed it there,
so obviously you'd like to hit that right, hit that pick,
but like you buffed it in that one. But how
do you where are you supposed to maneuver? Like they
made trades throughout the pet I am not defending the
actual functional moves, but when you look at what are

(18:25):
they supposed to do? Would you rather trade back and
forth with the Sacramento Kings eight times? Or would you
try to get Victor Webbin Yama, Because no matter if
you have a Victor Weman, I mean not trading for
you know, it's just not happening. So all of these,
all of this rigging the lottery does nothing but change
what people are aiming for.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
I hear what you're saying, Martin, but let me let
me throw you some just some different thoughts on this.
I feel like the NBA is trying to prevent the
future of more teams tanking like I wish more teams
were like the Bulls were, like the Miami Heat, where
they're not they're trying to get in the play in

(19:12):
even knowing that they're probably not gonna make it out
of the first round. They're always trying to be competitive.
But the way tanking started this season, it started so
early on, to have one hundred and sixty eight players
the day before the last day of the regular or
the game the second to last game of the regular season,
it just goes to show how early on teams have

(19:32):
checked out. And all I think NBA fans want is
a little bit of competitive play. I used to love
watching maybe not two star teams, but two teams that
just wanted to go out there and try and win
a game. Now I don't know who's going to compete
in who is not, So why should the Suns, the Trailblazers,
the Clippers, and the Warriors not have an equal opportunity

(19:56):
to get a high draft pick, knowing damn well that
whoever is going to face the Thunder or the Spurs
are not going to get out of the first round.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
Because ultimately I understand the argument, but my thing is sure,
get a draft pick, and like whether that pick goes
to those teams or the teams that aren't in the
play in, it's really dependent on who you have who
the pool is available for, right, because like, wasn't nobody
taking for Anthony Bennett, right, nobody was, Like I guess

(20:27):
the Wizards have been taking in a perpetuity, but like
they are not perfect, but for some quite some time,
but they weren't tanking with the idea that we're going
to get Zachary Reisha Schet. The idea is that we're
going to try to get a guy who Anthony Edwards,
Kay Cunningham, Victor wen Binyama is the best example.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
Victor win Ba is like an anomaly, right, Like when
there's nobody that's gonna be like that.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
But even Anthony Edwards and Kay Cunningham, Kay Cunningham took
a little while to get through. He has historic losing,
but you see he's the best player on the one seaton.
You've seen Anthony Edwards be the best player on a
conference final finisher. Right, those guys were number one over picks.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
But I think everybody knows the chances of you getting again.
It's it's like I can't knock the bulls in the heat,
who I joke, are always just in the play in
because they, like you mentioned, they try to make moves.
The Sacramento Kings have tried to make moves, and then
the Kings this year definitely tanked very early. But those
other teams, and I feel like the NBA can only
imagine that this is gonna get worse. How early teams

(21:23):
are starting to tank, so they're trying to prevent that.
I think by saying this, I'm not saying it's a
good I'm not saying it's a great idea, Martin. But
something has to be done so that the tanking doesn't
start in December.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
I put it like this, if winning was food, right,
like winning in the NBA was food, you only have
one ticket or two tickets per to go to the
grocery store each time. Right, that's your draft picks. You
can go to the grocery ticket, leave whatever with whatever
you want. Now, obviously you pick some people get those

(21:56):
people get the roasty chicken. Some people get a Hershey's bar. Right,
So like one of us, I'm not healthy, some don't work, right,
But like the only way to get into the store
is to have the ticket sure. So until you have
entered more ways for people to walk into that store,
to be able to walk into the grocery store, you're
always gonna have people trying to sneak in the back door, right,

(22:16):
You're because the supply, the demand is so much greater
than what the supply is. There's always going to be
a black market for you know in that scenario.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
Yes, you're you're presenting something.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
You've got to get a lot more.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
Yeah, I get what you're saying about that, but at
least it's given the illusion that listen, you for not tanking, forgetting,
you're gonna have the same opportunity as those guys. I
hear what you're saying, because no one's really no one's
really gaining anything by doing this, right, No one is
gaining an edge, nobody. You're actually just making no worse
for everybody. But you've got to You've got to try

(22:50):
and prevent what's happened this year. You have to try.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Well, I do know this one guy who would have
been super anti tanking if has to do so, when
in fact was askid do song is why he left
his first NBA job. He will not be asked to
take in his next one. We'll see how much success
or failures thinks he may have. I think it would
be pretty damn good. But I know this, he can
be better than Steve de Saga doing updates on a
Saturday night, not tanking tonight.

Speaker 7 (23:16):
No three of us here and perform. You know, it's
a really bad sign for a professional sport. This is
an entertainment product. By the way, we need to say
that again out loud. If we actually care more than
the players and teams involved, if full prices are being
paid and full effort and full rosters are not being
put forth, what you said needs to be said again

(23:38):
out loud. Just last night, at least one hundred and
sixty eight NBA players we're out out for illness or
didn't feel good, or you're a member of the Memphis Grizzlies.
We had fourteen people out Memphis. I looked it up
in mid January. Their record was eighteen and twenty three.
In the three months since, they've won seven games.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
And see, I would say, like and one of the
things that the NBA just loses at, Like if I'm
a Browns fan, for example, it's been over since week three. Okay,
I know that it was over by week three. Miles
Garrett is still playing. But week sixteen, I'm watching Miles Garrett.
Week sixteen, Oh, what do I have a quarterback?

Speaker 5 (24:18):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
I'm gonna watch right, I'm gonna see they would be
playing UFL players. If the NFL is the NBA, they
will be signing UFL players to play in regular season games.
For what purpose do you to get to potentially pick
second instead of I hate it? You know it's horrendous.

Speaker 7 (24:36):
So officially, Janni's Antenakumpo Milwaukee will not play in the
Sunday finale knee injury, so he misses the final four
weeks of the season and played just thirty six games
this season. Okayse sat out almost everyone last night and
shay Gil Just Alexander is out again tomorrow with an
oblique injury.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
They say.

Speaker 7 (24:54):
The Thunder listed ten players as out for Sunday, Victor
Wembin Yama, the Spurs did play last night, listed as
questionable for tomorrow with the sore ribs. New York's Carl
Anthony Towns out Sunday managing an elbow injury. The Knicks
will rest starters. Denver's Jamal Murray out with a shoulder injury.
The play in tournament is Tuesday through Friday next week.

(25:15):
In each conference, the number seven seed will host the
number eight winner goes to the playoffs as the seventh seed.
The losers of seven versus eight next week still get
one more chance to get in, hosting the winner of
the nine versus ten matchup. And that's how it goes
in the play in tournament. See the loser of nine
versus ten next week is out right then and there.
NBA is off tonight. The regular season ends Sunday. All

(25:38):
teams play again that day. Play in tournament starts the fourteenth.
Actual playoffs next weekend the eighteenth, and by the way,
in the East, tomorrow, three teams have a chance to
clinch the number six seed and avoid the play in.
Toronto gets the sixth seed with a win or with
losses by both Orlando and Philadelphia. Orlando only gets it
with a win and the Toronto loss elf You to

(26:00):
finish number six in the East needs a win Sunday
and losses by the other two Toronto and Orlando, and
ten different seeds could change on Sunday based on that
day's results. But really the big thing is who gets
the sixth seed in the East and avoid next week's playing.
Cam Young tied Rory McElroy at the Masters. McElroy led
by six strokes after the second round, but in round

(26:20):
three he shot seventy three while Young shot sixty five.
Michigan Game basketball coach Dusty maya contract extension till yeah transfer.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
PJ.

Speaker 7 (26:29):
Haggerty will go from Kansas State to Texas A and M.
That'll be his fifth school in five years. Isaiah Johnson
is transferring from Colorado to Texas in the WNBA. Chicago
signed Skyler Diggins after trading Angel Reeves to Atlanta this week.
Fifteen games in the NHL tonight, including a Panther's lead
in the second three to one at Toronto. A reminder,

(26:51):
NASCAR's Cup Series was off for Easter weekend, but this Sunday,
NASCAR's on FS one again from Bristol, Tennessee to baseball.
Two outs top of the ninth that Tampa Bay Raisin
Yankees tied at three. Tampa Bay just tied it up
with a run in the bottom of the eighth. Bottom
of the fifth in Milwaukee, the Nationals are shutting out
the Brewers two nothing so far already wins today for

(27:13):
the A's and the Reds. Philadelphia beat Arizona.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
Four to three.

Speaker 7 (27:16):
Today they got back to back home runs in the
third from Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper. Detroit and Minnesota
with wins. Pittsburgh and eleven innings won at the Cubs
four to three. The Pirates are nine and five, and
Kansas City shut out the White Sox to nothing to
win to Michael Walk at eight innings only eighty eight
pitches and seven strikeouts.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin wise Man's blaios. Here

Tune into Countown presented by bet AM Gym, every Saturday
and Sunday morning right here on Fox Sports Radio. When

(27:58):
the iHeart app. I know the boys, We're all over
the Masters this morning. I'm sure they'll be all over
to get tomorrow, and they like literally they might try
to find new NBA teams to play tomorrow, like everybody.
I mean, and the way it's been going, you know
they might be able to do that.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
Yeah, Like, how did you if you're not going to
play in this last game, like onto takompo, if you're
why would you go to this Bucks game? I know
it's I know they're not playing in the playoffs, but
why would you go to a Milwaukee Bucks end of
the regular season game if you're not even gonna watch? Honest?

Speaker 2 (28:31):
One benefit that you do get at the last game
of the year at least, uh in the last games
of the year that I had attended, which was a
few in Detroit. Uh the oh god, what do you
call the spirit crew? The spirit like the people who
are on the court, the cheerleaders. Yeah, spirits are just
pelting you with all types of stuff. I mean I

(28:54):
left with more pistons. I'm walking out arms full, like
MONSI for with their Starbucks order of piston stuff from
that last game, because I mean there's like half, there's
like a third of the people in there. They're just
we're not taking it with us.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
In these situations the Pistons were not in the playoffs.
Oh okay, because I was you know, yeah, I've been
to regular season final games for the Clippers. That's never happened,
but I guess we've been in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
Don't want so you gotta be careful who you invite
into work, because Hubert Davis had somebody watching practice, and
that's somebody is now the new head coach at the
University of North Carolina. Let's hear what Michael Malone had
to say after taking a job.

Speaker 8 (29:36):
It wasn't an easy decision. But what I kept thinking
about was I have a chance to be a part
of something special, the history, tradition, uh to be a
part of something much bigger than myself. As I said
a few minutes ago, this was the only college job
I'd ever considered. You know, if any other job, I
wouldn't even answer the phone.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
So one thing is for sure. My boy decked out
in the true North CA Carolina blue and white guitar,
heels all up and down, and he's been that since
his daughter committed. Right, Yeah, his daughter plays volleyball there.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
He already has a shirt or two.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
Right, he's very and it's very much college dad.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
But what he you see what he's.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
Definitely got right there, that's what you want to hear.
Like I would walk across burning coals backwards through a
snow covered mountaintop to come take this job, or you
kidd me, I wouldn't even consider another college job. It's
this place is so special to me that I wouldn't
even think about it, because that's what it's got to be. Like,

(30:37):
don't don't do me like Tommy Lloyd, do me like
Dufty May. I'm not discussing a single job. I'm working
right here, absolutely, you know what I'm saying. Tommy Woyd
was like a I'm have a good coach when I leave.
I don't know what you'll talking about, right Like.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
Yeah, make me believe it, make me believe it.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
I know it ain't all true, make me believe it.
Sell it.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
Tell me that how great you're going to be.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
And I do think that Mike Malone, Michael Malone would
rather be an NBA coach, coach, But I do also
think that he's being sincere and that the ability to
be bigger than himself, the ability to he is the
son of a coach. Apparently his dad, when his dad
was gonna mentoring him, was all about Dean Smith in
North Carolina and four corners and all this and that

(31:17):
I think he's gonna work. College basketball is full of yellers.
Mike Malone feels like he always wanted to yell a
little bit more than he really got to, right, Like
when he was coaching Denver. Part of it your coaching,
yo kids, but he really wanted to yell a little
bit more together, right, a little bit more than he
wanted to. I think he's gonna be really good at that,
and if they can get some good recruiting around him,
because secretly, when you look at kind of the other

(31:38):
Blue Blads, North Carolina recruiting, in my opinion, has been
down just in terms of guys that go pro and
go big like big time pros. But I think just
on a day by day, game by game basis, we're
looking at one of the top, like ex and O's
top ten coach of college basketball right.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
Now, I would agree with that. I saw some mixed
reviews on our heel fans or probably alumni when this happened,
and for me, I was like, really, I was like,
I feel like this is exactly the type of coach
you would want to come in and take over in
the sense that we always ask what have you done
for me lately? Well, he just won an NBA championship

(32:18):
with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, where clearly he was
fired because he wasn't gonna put up with bs.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
The issues were the front off, correct, Like how.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
That seems like a perfect person that you would want
walking through your.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Doors, especially because in college, you're not gonna have the
same issue. No, you're gonna have the adit deal with potentially. Correct,
But when you sign a contract that big guess what,
you're the boss.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
You know how to deal it with stars? Do you
know how to deal with mega stars? Like this is
such a I was surprised to see some of the
negative feelings from some tar Hiell fans.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Oh we go wan?

Speaker 3 (32:52):
Did you want to?

Speaker 9 (32:53):
Well?

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Do you do?

Speaker 4 (32:53):
You guys have any issue with the way that he
started that sound that we played where he said it
wasn't an easy decision.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
No, No, I just don't think he was expecting this
to be a decision he had to make right because
that his life is about to change. Also, what he
meant to say is this is going to be a
big decision for my daughter if she decides to stay
here now that I'm coming.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Well, yeah, she's gonna transfer now, like this.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
Was a tough decision because in reality, I'm going to
change her.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
Life like well also too, I just don't think I
don't think that. I think I read that as I
am not taking the University of North Carolina head coaching
job lightly. I'm not like, I'm not, I'm this. This
is not like I in order for me to give
the job the gravity and importance that I that is
going to require is gonna Hell no, it's not an

(33:40):
easy choice. Yeah, yeah, because it's not like it's not
like he over there volunteering on.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
ESPN and he might have also meant like just the
decision to make the jump to college, not un C
specifically being a hard choice. It was the fact that
I'm you know, giving up being an NBA coach, so.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
That giving up being a just an analyst where you
don't have to devote your extra time and money and energy.
You gonna go coach and you're expected to deliver immediately.
It's gonna going back, you know after after maybe I'm
gonna say, like he was taking it easy as an
analyst compared to being a coach, whether it's the NBA
going to.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
College as somebody who moonlights as an analyst on the
weekends and watches people do it every day. Let me
tell you something, Being a professional athletes a lot harder.
Yeah yeah, Being a professional coach is a lot lot harder.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
Yes so.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
But I take it as I think that he desperately
wanted to be back coaching. He always kind of seemed
to me to be a fish a little out of water.
Not not necessarily for his skills right now, I'm saying
he was unrecognizable in the booth, but he just seemed
like a guy who just wanted to be back in
the arena, right, And and that's the vibe I get

(34:45):
from him. He's coaches coach, right. He really feels like
he's gonna dive in here. And I think that one
of the things you alluded to some of the conversation
from the tar Hul alumni. And you know, I can
understand having a slight bit of concern. Wait a minute,
we're gonna hire to fire pro coach. We just did that,

(35:07):
and he came with a twenty four year old girlfriend
and no wings and embarrassment and we had Michael Jordan
walking out of the stadium before halftime in Game one, right,
You know, it's like this looks terrible, but that's not
what this is. Michael Malone could still coach in the
NBA today and would probably still be the coaching that
done for Nuggets if they had just fired Calvin Booth Right,

(35:30):
it's I get the parallels, and it's a very much
fuse like they're kind of running the same play. The
difference is this one. This one's gonna work. That's it.
This one's gonna work.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
I think so too.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
Play action covering up next. I'm in. We're both in
on this, but uh covered, we'll find Bill Belichick guilty
of something more than likely in sports code.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio radio.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
You know what the worst part about losing a six
shot lead that the Masters is on Saturday. You gotta
go back and play on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
He can redeem himself and he's still at the If
he was not at the top of the leader board,
he maybe would have a harder time tomorrow, but he
still is. He's like, I did so bad, I did
the worst set of everybody, and I'm still at the top.
It's okay, No, it could be worse.

Speaker 2 (36:21):
Bridget Condon and uh, you know his bucking Fits in
the slot ahead of us. Bridget Condy was filling in
for Fits as he does his indoor football. So fun, right,
it's you know, let me not get.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
Sidetracked, but so fun.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
So. Bridget Condy was talking about how Rory mentally, a
lot of athletes visualize positivity and that he visualizes negativity,
and like, what's the worst that happened? How's the worst
thing that can go wrong? How do I rebound from that?
Personally would not be my strategy, However, I am very

(36:59):
interested to see because they couldn't have really, to your point,
he is the top of the leaderboard, but you're going
to sleep tonight thinking they couldn't have gone when any
freaking worse And I'm still at the top, and I'm
still at the top. So we'll see sigh.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
Relief, believe it or not after such a terrible round.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
We'll see if it ends up being a sigh relief
for more tears of horror. Let's do sports court. The
defense is wrong.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Sports court six.

Speaker 4 (37:25):
That the sports court, you guys know the drill. I've
got a few people from around the world of sports
here that are accused in our sports court, and it's
up to you too, the jury to tell me whether
they are guilty or innocent after I present to you
their case. So let's start with Shams Sharania stands accused.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
Oh guilty, Let's go though.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
Seems like it seems like ESPN senior NBA insider Shams
Sharani is in the middle of a bit of a
feud with Bucks coach Doc Rivers. Sham's published that article
last week about Doc addressing the team and telling them
to google him and his accomplishments and all that.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
Well.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
On Fandel Sports Sports Network yesterday, Doc revealed.

Speaker 9 (38:00):
This, I made a joke before all starts where I said, honest,
three pounds Champs took that so personal that he actually
called the Bucks and yelled at them to take it down.
The NBA called the Bucks and are like, Doms wants
us to tell you this, but we really don't care.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
In the NBA.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
In the NBA posted it.

Speaker 9 (38:23):
So I've heard from ten different people that have said, oh,
Shams is going to do a revenge article on you, guys,
in on you, And I was like, Okay.

Speaker 4 (38:33):
All right, that's enough. So Sean Sharania guilty or not guilty.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
He's guilty, but is doc. So is doc like our
revenge being children. Let me let me tell you something.
You know what didn't need He had six people, they
had six different sources said they talked about this meeting,
and you didn't. It didn't matter what you said. Power
This is sort was getting out. Yeah, you got to
be able to take a joke.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
Yeah, Sham's is guilty, guilty, more guilty. But I agree
with You're both a little guilty, a little petty, a
little childish like, but Sham's is more guilty for sure.

Speaker 4 (39:05):
Next up, Todd Monkin stands accused. So a few weeks ago,
if you guys remember, at the NFL Owners meetings, Brown's
head coach Todd Monkin was absent from the annual head
Coach's photo and it was reported after the fact that
he'd missed it because he was getting a haircut for
the photo itself. So he was asked about it this week.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
Oh, I didn't.

Speaker 10 (39:21):
I really don't give it. I mean I did nothing
to do with me. I mean they moved the meeting.
I didn't miss it. I was just trying to get
a sweet haircut. I mean that's what I was trying
to do. And then they moved the meeting. Now you
can blame that. I should have bet the meeting when
they moved it up, and my asse would have known
that's when it was. Yeah, okay, I gotcha.

Speaker 4 (39:37):
So Todd Monkin guilty or not guilty if he.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
Really did did they not tell him ahead of time
of moving the meeting? Whoever didn't tell him, he's guilty.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
I believe that the descripbancy was the Pacific time versus
Central time.

Speaker 3 (39:50):
Oh oh, he's guilty. Guilty.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
Not only is he guilty, he's guilty. It's starting out
very hi critically, old Todd boy as because I tell
you it is. Let's let a team player let the
final somebody's final on the final fifty three to be
late to that picture. Let it be a backup linebacker.
Let's see how he plays if he does. Push his
ass in jail squeezing one more.

Speaker 4 (40:16):
We've all been operating under the assumption for the last
few months that Fernando Mendoza will go number one overall
to the Raiders. But Kirk Cousins stands accused here because
he let it slip on Good Morning Football this week quote.
I think Fernando will make a great addition to our
team when talking about Mendoza, might have just given away
their draft plans right there, Kirk. The draft hasn't happened yet.
What do you guys think, Kirk Cousin's guilty or not guilty?

Speaker 3 (40:37):
Not guilty.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
I did not do it, absolutely not. Yeah, these allegations
are Kirk Cousins saying Fernando's gonna be great for the Raid.
It's just like saying, man, it's gonna be awesome when
the sun comes up tomorrow.

Speaker 11 (40:50):
Please don't listening to Fox Sports Radio radio dram who wait,
a lot of this way too much NFL drama going
on for it to be April eleventh, maybe ten days ago.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
It's like this type of drama on April Fool's Day.
But Lord at Mercy, Martin Weiss, Monsey Blais here on
Fox Sports Radio on a Fox Sports Saturday Masters Weekend,
the w NBA expanding Moncey.

Speaker 3 (41:21):
Hmmm, that seems like a smart idea.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
We'll get to that in just a moment. The NBA
is trying to solve tanking by not solving the root
issue at all. Wance said, I don't care do it anyway?

Speaker 7 (41:32):
I do?

Speaker 3 (41:33):
I do? Yeah, I try something. You know what I mean, like,
I've been defending the NBA the last like two three
years because it's been a bad product, and I'm they're
starting to lose me.

Speaker 2 (41:45):
I think on a I think saying the NBA is
a bad product is uh is overstated. But this is
what I think is true for the league because I
think when you're looking at like what the average product this,
I think you turn on like average baseball, you know,
you turn on two five hundred baseball teams, the quality

(42:07):
of play will be all right, you know, the quality
of play will be decent, right, you know what I'm saying.
And you can find even if you're watching. You know,
the Pirates have started the year off different for them,
winning some games. But like even when the Pirates like
last year and they're like, oh, we know we're gonna
stick from day one, you can at least flip on
Paul schemes.

Speaker 3 (42:25):
Or absolutely Cruis positives to it.

Speaker 2 (42:28):
There's something there to watch, you know. And it's a
couple of years ago and the Reds one of the
worst teams in baseball. You know, you flip it on
and you got their Elie Della cruise.

Speaker 3 (42:36):
That's the thing Martin that in baseball, they play, they play,
the Stars play on bad teams. You can pay to
go watch an Angels game right now and you're probably
gonna get to watch Mike Trout, like you're gonna watch
these sad.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
Sentence that matters so much more and ten years ago
I got you. But the thing that if you look
at the to me, the high level NBA matchups, when
the NBA is right, when the NBA, when all the
different ingredients are put into the beaker, you know, we
got the two par hydrogen and one part option, we

(43:09):
mix it all together like that, when you have that
NBA it's to me it's perfect. But like, there are
too many instances where I should that is not consistent
enough to me. Like like we were talking about the
NFL just about every week, if you are watching Sunday
at one o'clock, le'll be free phrase at every week

(43:29):
before like week twelve where they start pimping out games
to Thursday and Friday. And like when you have the
typical Sunday one o'clock slate you can watch, there will
be one or two good finishes, right, there'll be, and
then then those are not necessarily tied to the games
that were deemed like the biggest going into the week.
Right on any given day in a baseball game, you're

(43:51):
watching this, and I think that, like when I am
on NBA Tuesday, there's too many options, there's too many
bad options. I gotta look too hard to find the
perfect NBA game. And I do think there's more than
people let on to be, but I gotta look too
hard to find it.

Speaker 3 (44:07):
The predictability of the NBA is bad. That's what it is.
In other sports NFL, like you just said, baseball, there's
gonna be something. You just don't know what it is.
The fact that you're over here saying that you have
to scroll and try and find the competitive match. The
predictability of the NBA right now is bad.

Speaker 2 (44:27):
So what also has been predictable this offseason drama between
the Philadelphia Eagles. If you have paid attention over the
last thirty four games or so of the regular season,
there seems to have been a little bit of an
issue between AJ Brown and like at all really like
the remainder you sure? And then again, as we're talking
about unnamed sources, we saw the reports come out about

(44:51):
Derek Gunn, or from Derek Gunn rather about Jalen hurts
and his inabilities and lacks of wanting to change. So
that in the season. Then saw the ESPN piece by
Jeremy Fowler and Tim mcmahonus that further outline that this
offseason and it had that big expose all this, and
then that was my favorite part, Jeff McLain afterwards saying,

(45:18):
I think Jalen has heard the message. So you're starting
to hear just like I think we're starting to find
where the sources are coming from. If you do a
little bit of math and a little bit of division
carry the one, you can figure out who's talking to who.
But that sound I had to say when that article
came out, we watched AJ Brown, Like my take was,

(45:39):
this is how AJ Brown could blow up are con
seemingly blow up the locker room right by saying we
need work on our past, we need to do this,
we need to do that. Well, what's what's what's wrong
with the team? The passing game? What do you mean
you need to be doing in dynamic there? I'm reading
book What's on the sidelines all this. The reason why
he was able to do that is because people agreed

(45:59):
with them. Like ultimately people agreed with him. Nobody was
telling them how you need to stop it. There's no
We're also like this, not much we can do about it,
but people agreed with them. So when I see things
like the Eagles trading for Dontavian Wicks, cool man, sure,
Sean Man and I know, yeah, you guys played together.
You can coach. Yeah, coach you right into this. AJ

(46:21):
Brown will not be a Philadelphia Eagle Week one of
this season. It also just won't happen until after June first.

Speaker 3 (46:28):
Yeah, I don't know if that's a hot take, right,
Like you just mentioned all of the issues that have
been filled within the Eagles locker room for a while.
This is not new. We've heard multiple incidences. Whether you
want to look back at when AJ Brown was reading
a book in the middle of a game on the

(46:48):
side from the hit piece for Jalen Hurts and what
came out specifically about not wanting to change their style
of game. However you want to look at it, this
is not a hot take. Yeah, it doesn't seem like
AJ Brown wants to be there. It doesn't seem like
the Eagles necessarily care to try and make amends.

Speaker 2 (47:09):
The thing. I don't even know. I think that if
we just do brass facts, what do we absolutely.

Speaker 3 (47:15):
Know that there's drama.

Speaker 2 (47:16):
Right and we absolutely like AJ Brown has not, to
my knowledge, requested a trade. I don't know if he
necessarily wants to be out of Philly. I think he definitely.
You can definitively say he wants the situation to be different.

Speaker 3 (47:29):
You can definitively say he's unhappy.

Speaker 2 (47:31):
Whether it's leaving Philly or somebody else leaving Philly, Which
is the point I was trying to get to, like,
I don't know if like I don't know if AJ
Brown doesn't have a good relationship with Nick here yet,
Like I don't know if they have a bad you
know what I mean, Like, there's no I don't think
do you do you think that there's evidence of that?

Speaker 3 (47:46):
Uh that video where Nick Sirianni at the in the playoffs.
I want to say maybe at the end of the
regular season, he's like walking towards a camera guy and
he like says something where he acts like all pompous,
and then AJ Brown gives him a look like really, bro.
That was a moment where I was like, if even
AJ Brown can't get with this man in that moment
that was not a good sighting. Now, is it very specific? Yes,

(48:09):
And you're probably right. Maybe I was looking too much
into it, but I remember thinking, like the fact that
AJ Brown gave him that look.

Speaker 2 (48:15):
And you can have sideline moments that aren't necessarily indicative
of your entire relationship. You'll remember Travis Galzie chest bumping
Andy Reed it, you know, and when Travis and Taylor
get married, Andy Reid will be right there with that
big money.

Speaker 3 (48:30):
Maybe marrying them maybe wouldn't shock me, you know what
I'm saying. That would be well, but it wouldn't surprise me. No.
There Obviously all of this is speculation, but I do
feel like Nick Sirianni is his own antagonist. And so
the fact more importantly that there's stories that Jaylen Brown
and a Jalen Brown, Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown were

(48:52):
really close friends at one point and then things just
went bad. That's not a good sign.

Speaker 2 (48:59):
Well, there there's an age old adage that you know,
we come across it more often than professional athletes probably,
but you don't go into business with your friends.

Speaker 3 (49:10):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (49:10):
But they say don't go into business with your friends.
It's a different relationship when you got to work every day,
it's all the grounds is always green.

Speaker 3 (49:19):
This was successful. You won.

Speaker 2 (49:21):
But I think longer and longer you look at that.
It's the story of Sheai Kwan Barkley.

Speaker 3 (49:30):
Yep. But but you still, but you still you know
what I'm saying, Like, that's that's what's hard for me
in this situation where it's like, you guys had success
and you've been having success. How many times has have
the Eagles even been to the super Bowl already? They
haven't won, but they won one. You got to saying, like, true,
it wasn't just one off. You have been there multiple times.
You've gotten far. The success has been there, it's been

(49:51):
was palatable Is that the word I'm looking for?

Speaker 7 (49:54):
What is it?

Speaker 3 (49:54):
Where you can taste it? You can it's right there,
Come on, it's right there, like.

Speaker 2 (49:59):
Palat something that you can eat that's like palatable, is
like something that you can like broccoli as a kid,
like you can you can.

Speaker 3 (50:07):
Get it down, you can get okay, maybe I'll though.
What I was like, it was like, you're right, you're
right there, and you've had multiple moments that you can
be like we were just here, we had this success.
We won this time we had this. It's not like
it was a one off situation.

Speaker 2 (50:22):
So I honestly think that it was. And I don't
know why. And this is not necessarily me addressing it
right to what you are saying, but there has been
a common refrain. And when you hear me say that,
she'll be like, yeah, people said it all the time,
but people people Jalen Hurts, I'll played Patrick Mahomes in
two Super Bowls. No he didn't, all right, Like that

(50:44):
just didn't happen in a game in which it went
to overtime. Right, in a game in which the Eagles
lost on a holding call James Bradberry a holding call,
Jalen Hurts had a fumble return for a touchdown. Yeah right,
Like Flatle did not out play Mahomes in the Super
Bowl lost number one, Right, but.

Speaker 3 (51:03):
In the box score he did. That's what people look at.

Speaker 2 (51:06):
I watched the game, you know what I'm saying. I
watched the game, but I watch you know what, and
there was never I remember I remember vividly being this
at a friend of mine house in Longvies and I
turned that halftime and I said, you already to watch
Michael Jordan like you already to watch what Michael Jordan's
about to do, and Mahomes and them walked them down
in that in that second half of it, and it's okay, cool,

(51:28):
people lose super Bowls. It happens. Then you go and
you have the year where they kind of flame out
in the wildcard very like like that wildcard game to
me was Tampa was so ready and Philly just was
just non competitive after like the first quarter. Then you

(51:48):
had Saikwon Barkley, who was one of the best running
back seasons in the next in the past ten years,
and he runs for nearly it almost breaks some freaking
rushing record, that's how good he was. Breaks the rushing record.
The office line is maning people and they run through
the NFC and then Sekwon goes back to normal and
guess what another while they didn't lose in weill Card,

(52:10):
but again, a season that has discontent, a season that
feels like it doesn't pass the Snell test, and then
when they get to the postseason or even late in
the season, it's like, well, we know what the Eagles
are gonna do, right, And when you look at the outlier,
to me, it is shee Kwon Barkley, who is one
of the premier talents in the NFL. Even when he

(52:31):
was in New York, there was ever a down in
this Saquon great, It's like, how much can he impact
winning here?

Speaker 3 (52:37):
The problem with me, it's just kind of like going
with the Saquon Barkley. It's hard for me to not
look at Nick Sirianni and not look at the who
was the offensive coordinator? I'm blaking for the Eagles. That's
not there anymore this past.

Speaker 2 (52:49):
Year, Kevin Petula, Yes, thank you.

Speaker 3 (52:51):
The fact that they did not have answers or expect
the season where everybody knew what Saquon Barkley could do,
so you needed to come in with a different game plan.
I can't put it on That's what.

Speaker 2 (53:04):
They didn't have a different game. They never had a
different game, which it's a difference was Saquon Barkley is
jumping over people, going backwards, spinning break attack.

Speaker 3 (53:14):
That's what you weren't thinking. You needed to have a
different game plan going into a year where you won
because of Saquon Barkley. You didn't expect every team to
know exactly what he was gonna do.

Speaker 2 (53:25):
Listen, they knew. I imagine they went into the year one
with Saquon thinking that, but I was somebody was able
to block it. The ultimately, to me, if the problem
has always been with the Eagles, in my opinion, it
just seems that the quarterback does not throw the ball
over the middle of the field. And if you had
that look, I want us to remember the leasion of Boom.

(53:46):
And part of the reason why people talked about how
great the lesion of Boom was is because Richard Sherman
shut off a third of the field, Darryl Reeves could
sign for whoever he held down near one to a
one year contrary just mercenary because a third of the
field from the numbers end was inaccessible to the quarterback,

(54:08):
and he was one of the highest paid corners, that
one of the best corners in the NFL history. So
when you tell me that there's an NFL quarterback that
ops out of a third of the field, you might
as well have an All Pro defender out there, because
that's what the impact of that would be. You might
as well have You might as well have Ray Lewis

(54:30):
right there, because he's not throwing over the middle of
the field. You might as well have ed reed right there,
because he's not thrown over the middle of the field.
He's not good enough. Like it's just like people see
everybody who watches table sit there and say it. But
then people was like, but I'll play Patrick Mahomes the
two Super Bowls I did just see.

Speaker 6 (54:51):
I just.

Speaker 2 (54:54):
Can't stand it.

Speaker 3 (54:55):
I just I have a hard time completely agreeing with
you on that because we've seen I hear what you're
saying this past year is not a good a good
argument for me because you're right, he didn't do much
throwing at all, but we've seen him throw the ball
in big moments and have success. So it's like, why
this year to say, I wish I could tell you, you know,
all those throws he didn't make, all those throws that

(55:17):
that he couldn't execute, but they didn't even try. So
it's like, how I'm I. I feel like I have
to put it on the coach.

Speaker 2 (55:23):
Coach calls the plays player, got a player and is.

Speaker 3 (55:26):
He calling even the right place?

Speaker 2 (55:27):
Apparently according to that again, we want to get players.

Speaker 3 (55:32):
For push that article out first, tell me that and
then maybe I can see how much truth comes with it.

Speaker 2 (55:38):
Unnamed sources money.

Speaker 3 (55:39):
Oh, thank you great. That really helps me.

Speaker 2 (55:41):
Coming up next to w NBA has proved expansion will
be three new w NBA teams, and this has people
fired up. I have to take Monte second. I think
we're gonna be diametrically opposed. So yeah, get your fires, tinker,
sure out that's coming next. Martin Weiss Monsey Belails comes
to your life from the five Fox Sports Radio studios.

(56:02):
Be sure to subscribe to the Fox Sports Radio's YouTube channel.

you don't. Just search Fox Sports Radio on YouTube and subscribe.
Damn it, I added the last part.

Speaker 3 (56:22):
All right, do what Martin says.

Speaker 2 (56:25):
You know, the world would be a better place if
everybody took that advice.

Speaker 3 (56:29):
I just realized how bad I what that came out,
How that came out. I know, Yeah, now your head
got a little bit bigger.

Speaker 2 (56:35):
Lear Listen. Oftentimes I say, if everybody just listened to me,
you wouldn't be here. So the WNBA has announced he's
gonna expand three more teams. Cleveland will get a team back,
Detroit will get a team back, and Philadelphia we'll get

(56:56):
a team. Cleveland will start playing twenty twenty eight, Detroit
twenty twenty nine. Off You're twenty thirty in an effort
to further grow the league, which has valuations that have
skyrocketed over the last eighteen months with the addition of
the Golden State Valkyries and Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese
and the rookie class that brought into the WNBA Page

(57:18):
Backers obviously the Rookie of the Year following that class,
but women's basketball at a all time high at the moment,
so the WNBA says they feel like it's a good
time to grow.

Speaker 3 (57:30):
Is it, though, Is it?

Speaker 2 (57:32):
I absolutely believe so.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
You think it's the time, the right time to grow
right now.

Speaker 2 (57:37):
When the Golden State Valkyries come out and are announced
as like the second or third most valuable franchise in
the WNBA immediately after like before playing a game, there's
clearly an appetite for this. When you have first and
second round we have first round picks getting waived in
their second or third years. There's clearly a a talent

(58:02):
pool that you can pull from to fill out fifteen
more fifteen more spots, twelve more spots. There's only one
hundred and forty four professional women's basketball players.

Speaker 3 (58:11):
I filling out a roster doesn't mean you're getting the
attention that a Las Vegas Aces gets because of Asia Wilson,
that a Fever gets because of Caitlin Clark, that the
New York Liberty get because of Sabrina Unescu and Stewie.
Like the Golden State Valkyries, I'm surprised at how their

(58:33):
attendant they had the highes attendance out of any team
last year by average, But there are so many other
teams Martin that like, do not have the attention that
other teams do. So I don't. So you're gonna So
is the plan to get rid of? Like you're adding some,
but are you gonna get rid of others?

Speaker 2 (58:48):
No? Wow, Because just by filling up.

Speaker 3 (58:50):
A roster doesn't mean you're gonna get the fans to
come on in.

Speaker 2 (58:52):
I would disagree wholeheartedly because I would tell you at
least two a year and a half ago, whenever Kaitlyn
Clark was first walking into the w NBA, I can
tell you definitively there were people going to watch the
w NBA who had no idea who of the ten
players on the court four of them were.

Speaker 3 (59:10):
Right, But they went to see Kaitlyn Clark.

Speaker 2 (59:11):
Sure, so why would I notge So if Kaitlyn Clark
is a she's it's Kaitlin Clark, and there's more than
just her in the league. But let's say the Caitlin
Clark and the Vegas Aces for Kaitlin Clark and Asian
Wilson are the two biggest touring acts in America. Sure, right,
Theoretically speaking, why would you not extend their tours to Cleveland,
Detroit and Philly for one game?

Speaker 3 (59:32):
And one game? So two games out of the entire
season is what you're.

Speaker 2 (59:37):
Two games out of the I mean there's forty some
games in the season, and there's only twelve teams, so
each team is playing each other at least three.

Speaker 3 (59:44):
Years at the same location. So you're also gonna play
we will play road home in Indiana, right, So it's
not that many games.

Speaker 2 (59:51):
So like I I mean, it's it's the same, It's
I don't know, all right.

Speaker 3 (59:56):
So in forty forty games, ten games that you get
that are stars coming to your hometown ten games out
of the forty something like you're gonna what are you
gonna do with the other thirty? Like I just feel
like when you look at it, the numbers are not
gonna it's I think it's a bad idea. But I
also feel like if you're not gonna do it now
that one are you gonna do it? I just think
it's a bad idea. I think it's too soon.

Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
Absolutely not. Now is the time if you're gonna do it,
And what a producer, what you got.

Speaker 4 (01:00:21):
There's the fact that this is gonna be what they're
like five expansion teams over the past two three years,
Like that just feels like a little much to me
because it's like you're then saying that there's that much demand,
there's that much talent to go around, dude, to make
three more teams, all right, Like so you're saying that
there are there's a bench players and the deserve to

(01:00:43):
be starters, yes to where you can fill out three
more teams.

Speaker 3 (01:00:47):
But the thing is like, I sorry, you're saying what
he is saying before. I don't want to lose this
train of thought. He's saying that there's talent. To me,
I'm saying, is there talent that moves the needle? Like
you could tell me that there's enough talent to fill
the rosters all you want, but people gonna go see
those players.

Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
I don't know off hand with the ratings were this
year for the women's tournament, but over the last three
years it's been more popular than the men's tournament. Men's
tournament this year had had a a big swing in
the other direction. This year, I would say was a
big swing back for the met's tournament. But over the
Caitlyn Clark first LSU years, UCLA South Carolina, that whole,

(01:01:25):
that Elite eight Final four run over the last three
seasons was the biggest story in college basketball by far.
The President of the United States was commenting on it,
like the appetite for women's basketball show you show when
you put a team in Golden State, right, Like Golden State,
that's a busy freaking place. There's a lot of things
going on in San Francisco, Like that team is selling

(01:01:47):
out before they even had a roster set up. And
when you have got excuse me, we have women who
are getting drafted and being released like you have first
round picks in this league who are two three years later.
It's not because they can't play.

Speaker 3 (01:02:02):
Anymore because there's no demand.

Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
No, it's because there's no space on the roster.

Speaker 4 (01:02:07):
I feel like with the Valkyries when they came in,
it was such a perfect time with Kaitlyn Clark coming
into the league, Like there was such a demand for
women's basketball then and it's not like there isn't now.
But it feels like we have kind of passed that
surge and it's starting to go down a little bit,
and now you're adding three more teams out of the blue.

Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
It's not out of the blue. It's off of three years.
It's off of it's off of women's college basketball for
the last three of this was just twenty twenty six.
In the last six years, right says twenty since they
brought the tournaments back from COVID to now, women's college
basketball has been insanely more popular than men's college basketball. Yes,
that's a period stopped. Yes, in the last three years,

(01:02:45):
I would say what Kayler Clark was healthy. I'm not
saying that the WNBA was pushing the NBA, but I
think that there was a real argument when over the
summer that there were two major topics to talk about,
and that was whatever Kayler Clark was doing and baseball
rule changes. And then Kitler Clark continued to play in
this benefits. She didn't even win all the time, but

(01:03:07):
she had this concert where she was bringing around the
rest of the league to where now the players who
were winning were getting that much more coverage, right, And
I understand that Kayler Clark was hurt for the last
little bit, but the idea of expanding now when you
have a singular star, I gotta look this up. I
would love to know, like when the TV contracts for

(01:03:28):
the NBA, like how many how they expanded the teams,
what players were lining up in that moment, because right
now you have a moment where there are families that
would not have gone to a WNBA game in Atlanta.
Who will now, I know they just traded for Angeur
prior to that, they would not have gone to a
WNBA game in Atlanta last season? Who would consider it
because Kaitler Clark has the potential to play. In fact,

(01:03:51):
they had to move games from some places to other
plays not because of because of the demand. People are
clearly buying tickets to this stuff is when you're looking
at the roster size the twelve, it's really the twelve
team that the twelve player roster and hard cap makes
it such that there's it's very putative for w NBA

(01:04:12):
teams to carry veterans unless that veteran is like truly
like Kelsey Plump making a starting ag Wilson starting max
level impact on your team.

Speaker 3 (01:04:22):
The Atlanta Dream averaged five thousand fans a game, aside
from the times that Caitlin Clark came into town and.

Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
They just traded for well, I don't know the.

Speaker 3 (01:04:32):
Rangel reas on Rangel Reas.

Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
But I don't know where she what number star she
is in the WBA, but she's top five and not five.

Speaker 3 (01:04:40):
She's But that's what I'm saying. It's like the players
who people are actually gonna go watch. I don't I
think obviously they're banking the juju Watkins in two years, right,
three years that she comes and does it. But is
that are we expecting Azy Fudd to do that? Like
I don't know if she's.

Speaker 2 (01:04:55):
Moving the needle like that Page Beckers is just moving
the needle in Dallas like I just saw him.

Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
Tell us, Okay, like in comparison to what other teams.

Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
The average, but when but you're looking at the bottom
of this league, and I don't understand what the point
is but the top, like when you're looking at the
revenue share and the whole point, Like I get Atlanta
has nobody there. But I don't know how many. How
many people attended the Portland Trailblazers games this year, but
a lot of are over the last. However, many years

(01:05:25):
after they traded Damian Lillard and he was and that
team was no longer competing at a high level. The
team was one of the worst teams in the NBA.
But when Lebron came, people wanted to go see Lebron play.
And when Zion, even rookie Zion, people are going to
see him play. When he's out there. Cooper Flag now
people are going to see Cooper Flag play. These are
individuals on bad teams. The Mavericks roster. Mavericks attendance this

(01:05:48):
year has been in the toilet because they traded away
their best player and they have no equity in the
fan base right now, They're not going to sell the
team or move the team because they got the eyes.

Speaker 3 (01:05:58):
The eyes in the NBA don't compare to the eyes
on the WNBA, right, Like, you can't compare the two
products in reality, even though the amount of NBA fans,
they've been around for years, So people are going to
go watch the Portland Trailblazers because they've been fans for years.
I feel like with the WNBA again, more revenue, but
now you're paying players a lot more so money is

(01:06:20):
it's already going somewhere else and you're hoping it's going
to come in because you're building WNBA teams in.

Speaker 2 (01:06:27):
Three evaluation for the valkyris right there.

Speaker 3 (01:06:30):
I'm looking at the average attention, average attend That's what
I'm looking at. Yeah, so they have the highest average
attendance at eighteen thousand, then the Indiana Fever come in
at sixteen point five, Liberty sixteen point three. Then it
drops to the Sparks twelve less than twelve point five
the last one, like even the Aces are under twelve thousand.

Speaker 2 (01:06:51):
But every one of those, every one of those teams
that you just talked about, has a marketable star that
you can drive behind, right maybe, but outside of the
Sparks maybe can't bring is not as marketable as coming
off the ACL and Soul, But every one of those
teams are somebody that you can build behind it when
you have the rising tide, the rocket ship that is
Caitlin Clark, who will be coming back and like imagine

(01:07:13):
hopefully you would imagine will be healthy this upcoming season
and seasons progressed, like she missed a ton of time
this last season. Shit, the star is not dampening in
my opinion on her, and she's not even the best
player in the league. So when you're looking at it
through that lens, you're watching these like she is the
introduction for a lot of people. And also the like

(01:07:35):
Cleveland's had. Cleveland was one of the initial WNBA locations.
Detroit was one of the initial WNBA locations or not
not with the first first eight, but the Detroit Shock
have a history of like that was the thing that exists.
I know Detroit Shock fans. So I'm not saying that,
I'm not even trying to just cape up for it.
It's just it makes absolute sense to try to expand

(01:07:58):
your league.

Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
Right now, you just Saidkayaling Clark's not the best player,
is it? Are you saying Asia Wilson? Would you say okay,
and yet she doesn't have the Las Vegas Aces, do
not have the average that other teams had in attendance,
and she's the best player. So it doesn't have to
do with skill Martin. It has to do with who
people care to watch. And that's what I'm questioning. You're

(01:08:19):
adding three teams, so you expecting Juju Watkins is one?
Who else is coming that is going to be like that?
If talent is not enough.

Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
Well you talk the WNBA, what's the TV deligious.

Speaker 4 (01:08:30):
So it's the fact that it's three teams that I
think is the real hang up here, because I think
we all agree, like it makes sense for the WNBA
to expand right now, because yeah, like you're right everything
you're saying about Kaitlyn Clark the rising shit, you know,
but the rising tide raises all ships and I get that.
But it's the fact that three teams that's really ambitious,
and it's a bet that, like you're taking a bet there,

(01:08:52):
and if it doesn't pay off, I don't know what
you're gonna do because it's way easier to add teams
than take them away. I just don't see you don't
see the downfall.

Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
I don't see the argument as to why you like
a like, I don't know. Maybe Steve di Seger could
shine some light on this situation.

Speaker 3 (01:09:09):
God, do you make it harder to see these stars,
then more people are going to show up to these
games that they're not showing up to right now.

Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
I would say that when you look at the TV
deal that the NBA and WNBAH signed, that there's clearly
an appetite for this. Yes, more so than the previous decade. Yes.
And so if there's an appetite, you know, if your
restaurant's selling out, why don't open another one?

Speaker 3 (01:09:33):
Because it doesn't always work.

Speaker 7 (01:09:34):
Well, you don't open three more, but one more unless
you really should have had more teams to begin with.
I mean the MLS has expanded to thirty at this point.

Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
I mean, yeah, thirty. You know how many first round
picks that we see star in college basketball they don't
catch on and all of a sudden they now are
playing in.

Speaker 7 (01:09:53):
Watch how many UCLA players from this championship team or
taken in the first round from one roster. No, they
didn't have a spread around years, by the way, it
was all seniors literally, yeah, seniors.

Speaker 2 (01:10:06):
Six.

Speaker 7 (01:10:07):
You mentioned the attendance for Indiana and maybe they could
have gotten eighteen thousand like Golden State, but their building
doesn't hold eighteen thousand.

Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
Just for the.

Speaker 7 (01:10:16):
Record, superb, I think it's seventeen.

Speaker 3 (01:10:19):
Is it seventeen?

Speaker 7 (01:10:19):
Okay, it's a fieldhouse as we know, it's not like
some big new arena like Golden State has. Anyway, WNBA
preseason schedule starts in two week and today Chicago signed
Skyler Diggens. We've got baseball to update, and the Dodgers
have the early lead. They're ten and three this season.
They're up four to one going to the bottom of
the second against Texas, which got a lead off home

(01:10:40):
run from Brandon Nemo. However, the Dodgers' leadoff hitter is
shohe Otani. He hit a leadoff homer in the bottom
of the first ta Oscar Hernandez with a three run homer.
And Otani, by the way, has now been on base
forty five straight games dating back to last regular season
LA Dodger record fifty three. Even a Dodger fan would

(01:11:02):
not have gotten this Sean Green in two thousand.

Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
Oh, that's a great.

Speaker 7 (01:11:06):
Fifty three straight games getting on base. Well elsewhere in
Major League Baseball, the late game Astros at the Meritors
is about to begin. Colorado hit three home runs in
the first three innings. Not at home, it's San Diego.
It's Rockies four nothing over the Padres in the bottom
of the third. As for the other games in progress,
it's still a Boston shutout at Saint Louis two nothing,

(01:11:28):
Red Sox in the bottom of the eighth. Going to
the eighth on Fox TV for part of the country.
At Baltimore, Orioles lead five to two over the Giants
in a game that was started by Logan Webb, who
had six strikeouts in six innings for San Francisco. By
the way, for Baltimore, they placed catcher Adley Rushman on
the aisle with ankle inflammation. Cleveland a four to nothing
lead at Atlanta now top of the ninth inning and

(01:11:50):
still a shutout for Washington. Nationals now up three to
nothing at Milwaukee in the top of the ninth. Wins
today at home for the Reds in the Phillies Detroit
as well. Tiger one over Miami, Riley Green a homer
and four RBIs A's won their fourth straight eleven six
at the Mets. Tyler Sodersturm of the athletics two homers,
five RBIs extra inning wins for Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh

(01:12:12):
victories for Kansas City and Minnesota. US women's soccer won
an exhibition in San Jose against Japan two to one.
The NHL regular season ends on Thursday. Among the games
going on tonight, and there's fifteen on the Saturday schedule.
Columbus with five minutes left, leads five to two at Montreal,
and at Colorado, Avs tied two to two with Vegas

(01:12:32):
in the second period. Denver won the college hockey title.
Michigan gave basketball coach Dusty maya contract extension. Illinois freshman
Keaton Woggler will declare for the NBA Draft. The NBA
is off tonight. The regular season ends on Sunday. All
teams play that day and Cam Young ted Roy McElroy
at the top of the leader board at the Masters
going to tomorrow's final round after McElroy shot seventy three. Today,

(01:12:56):
Scotti Scheffler is up to a tie for seventh place
after a third round sixty five.

Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
He's four. Back back to you, thanks Steve. This is
a fun fact page. Beckers Draft twenty twenty five WNBA
only the thirty eight players selected, only twenty aren't active
NBA roster WNBA rosters right now, Are we alleging that
all of these women that play college basketball just not

(01:13:22):
good enough to play in the professional.

Speaker 3 (01:13:24):
League, Because that's not why I think you're no. I
just think talent and demand are two different things.

Speaker 2 (01:13:30):
That's all, because there's absolutely enough I mean, let's see,
I'm looking at it right now. You had only three
third round picks like made their rosters, right, so, like
there is and would just watch women's college basketball from

(01:13:50):
the final four on our Elite eight on Like, you're
not telling me that there are not women who were
competing in those times like that UCLA US game got pros,
should have should be pros up and down the lineup,
and I don't know how many of them will actually
be able to play in the league.

Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
I am not saying that those ladies don't deserve to
play in the WNBA.

Speaker 2 (01:14:12):
That's not at all, but that then that there is
enough talent for like there's enough talent.

Speaker 3 (01:14:17):
Now, Talent and demand are two different things.

Speaker 2 (01:14:19):
Monty Day's selling every game out.

Speaker 3 (01:14:21):
That's not true. There's literally stories of like teams who
sell out just because Caitlin Clark is there not for
any other reason.

Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
And so if you are walking in to catch this
unique talent, right, it's like, what's the last concert you
went to?

Speaker 3 (01:14:37):
Last concert was Blinky two? Lincoln Park?

Speaker 2 (01:14:41):
Okay, sure, Lincoln Park now Park twenty years ago? That
would have been working different. And I'm with you, I'm
with you right here. But let's say twenty years ago. Girls, great,
let's say twenty with Emily Armstrong. You walk in and
you are looking to go to the Meteora concert for
Lincoln Park. Right, you want to go here, don't stay
and somewhere I belong. But you get there a few

(01:15:02):
hours early, and all of a sudden, you hear this
band called Dashboard Professional that you never would have listened
to prior. You never would have listened to them prior,
but because you walked in there and you had you
want to make sure you got your set. You like,
Hold on a second, I don't even like that. I
didn't even like this acoustic. I'm here for the rock
and power chords and I'm over here now I'm saying
hands down and I'm all emo with it. You know,

(01:15:25):
I'm found something new. You know why you found out
because you went to go see the star.

Speaker 3 (01:15:28):
That's great, and then I can listen to that song.
I can go find it on my iTunes. But I
don't have to pay to go watch them in a concert.

Speaker 2 (01:15:33):
But you just might. You got a much better shot
of doing it than if you hadn't done it before.
Coming up next, Sexy DEXI wants out. I'll explain.

Speaker 3 (01:15:47):
Fox Sports Saturday, Monty Bilanio said, Martin Weiss.

Speaker 2 (01:15:51):
Tripping over doors. Aaron Torres got takes off. You know
what I was proud of. You know, we were getting
takes off just now in the in the.

Speaker 3 (01:15:58):
Back, we were still I know, the show was still
going during the break.

Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
You know, and I'm really just convinced that. You know,
he saw Torres sitting back there quietly, and I just
know what he was.

Speaker 3 (01:16:08):
Thinking looking at your jacket or I'm sir, glad we're
talking about the w NBA right now and not college basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
That's what he was thinking over there. I watched, you
know what, I watched a little bit of the AT
podcast after the National Championship game. As he should he
was calling balls and strikes. Yeah, but it was beautiful
to see, you know, Aaron is his kind heart, big
Yukon guy, but like, you know, he's I would not

(01:16:38):
say that he's a person who's wears it on his
sleeve in the way that some of the others, Like,
you're definitely gonna be excited about it, but like you know,
we'll see him on a Tuesday in January and he'll
be upset that the with the Yukon play against Providence.
But like, he's not something that the rest of the
station has to know about like some other people when
they're upset.

Speaker 3 (01:16:58):
That's a really good point. And you know, he's he's
the harshest critic for the for those Huskies. He definitely
doesn't just give him a pass.

Speaker 2 (01:17:06):
Oh but Monci, let me tell you when I saw
the Blue and May's confetti falling down all around his
head as he was doing his live shots, and while
I'm watching the janitors clean him up behind him, I said,
you know what.

Speaker 3 (01:17:23):
Ha, we won, you lost, which is so nice.

Speaker 2 (01:17:27):
I know. So the New York giantsy John Harbaugh already
impass and I think this is like the first kind
of real test of the Harball era. You'll remember, Monsie
was all about Joe Shane saying, oh, you know, GM

(01:17:48):
who really does really matter who makes decisions. I'm still
working here, right, Dexter Lawrence wanting out is going to
show because you ain't no way you're telling me that
John Harbat takes that job and says I don't want
Dexter Lawrence. Right, of course, he of course wants it,
and he spoke about it actually talking about having the
best trenches in the league offensive line and defensive line.

(01:18:10):
I think we talked about it right from day one.

Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
I mean, that's where games are won and loss.

Speaker 2 (01:18:14):
That's where it starts.

Speaker 8 (01:18:16):
We've got to try to build the best offensive line
and the best defensive line in football that's got.

Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
It and so admirable. And that's how you get a
lot of wins. And if you just look at the
Philadelphia Eagles, help them a lot. You know, in division.
If I'm John Harbaugh calling Dexter over saying listen, we're
going to be something special here. You can't go anywhere, buddy,
I'm sorry, Let's just go ahead and do this thing here.

(01:18:44):
You've been here a long time. I know you don't
want to be here anymore. You want to get this trade,
you want to get this money. How can I make
you happy. What can we do?

Speaker 3 (01:18:53):
He is following in the footsteps of Garrett Miles. I
don't believe anybody anymore who says they want to trade Mouse,
Garrett else, Garrett Sorry, what did I say?

Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
We go? There?

Speaker 5 (01:19:03):
We go?

Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
Sorry, I'm sorry, came out, came out, throw away. Yeah,
I don't. I just don't believe anybody who says they
want to trade anymore. To be honest with you, I
think it's just the first step in getting an extension
more money. I don't think Carbo's gonna let him go.
I'm pretty sure that the intention for him is not
to actually leave. The intention is is just forcing the hand.

(01:19:27):
He wants something and he's forcing the hand.

Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
I would say, though, yeah, I know, I attach every
plus defensive lineman to this team. If I'm Brandon Bean,
I'm on the phone Dexter Lawrence, you don't want to
be there. I will overpay for you because we just
got to figure something out. Well, you got it. Dexter
Lawrence is one of the most impactful defensive tackles that

(01:19:50):
that's to me in the league, and I like in
the now. Nis obviously up against Aaron Donald consistently a
lot of times with all pros. But in Lenan Aaron
Donald like he's up.

Speaker 3 (01:20:01):
There, yeah, which is when he's not going anywhere, They're
not gonna let him go. You can make all the
calls you want hearing this story, but I'm telling you
this is this is just forcing the hand. He's not
gonna go anywhere, especially.

Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
When you consider that the edge rushers they have on
either side, it Burns and maybe Thibodeau if he's gonna
be able to stay on there.

Speaker 4 (01:20:16):
That dual Carter in their first round pick from last.

Speaker 2 (01:20:18):
Year, and a dual Carter the second, second overall pick, right, yeah, third, third,
Travis Hunter.

Speaker 4 (01:20:24):
Yeah, Travis Hunter was second. Let me read you, guys,
the stat from Warren Sharp pressures went a line at
nose tackle since twenty twenty two. Dexter Lawrence leads the
NFL with one hundred and eight. The next closest is
Vitavea with thirty two.

Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:20:40):
Listen, there's not many numbers that give you a real effect, right,
that's one.

Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
I tell you that's obviously massive. But you know, I
just thought about this, as you said, if we just
will throw it. The Jaguars drafted a cornerback now with
the second overall pick told you that was gonna be
able to stake.

Speaker 1 (01:20:56):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:20:59):
That's why we're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Oh,
look at that Manti. Max Munsey's up to bat.

Speaker 3 (01:21:08):
Yeah. Have you heard of the other Max Monsey?

Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
What's he doing?

Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
The one for the A's. Have you heard about this
other Max Monsey that looks just like Max Muncy but
also plays the He plays for the A's. We obviously
the the Dodgers Max Mounsey, and there's another Max Monsey
who plays for the A's. And they look too similar.
Have you heard of this story? No, they're not the
same age, so it's not the same person, but they
look too similar.

Speaker 2 (01:21:35):
Now I'm trying to google this guy, crazy Max.

Speaker 3 (01:21:37):
Yeah, they look they look like an and then you
can right like they don't. I'm sure give them a
different haircut, but if you put them in similar you
know what I mean, with the glasses, with the with
the beard, they look so similar, but they're like, I
don't know, six years apart, maybe it's five, but it's
so good. It's so good, This.

Speaker 2 (01:21:58):
Max Monkey, it's creepy. I'll tell you this. I think
about that all the time. There's people out there that
look like you. Yeah that, Like there's somewhere out there
there's a guy who just has my entire build, like
I'm creative player number five.

Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
Anyway, like I think they may be worn on the
same day. Hold on, hold on, hold on. It was
too many things.

Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
So next month he's he was crushing the ball yesterday.
Well see what he's able to do today as the
Dodgers leave the Rangers for to one in the bottom
of a third inning. But mansie, we've just go back
to the NBA for just second.

Speaker 3 (01:22:32):
Here, same birthday, just five years apart.

Speaker 2 (01:22:35):
I'm sorry, that is weird.

Speaker 3 (01:22:37):
Tell me that's not freaking weird.

Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
Huh oh, that is weird.

Speaker 3 (01:22:44):
It's weird.

Speaker 2 (01:22:45):
Well, like I also think that, like, like I wonder,
so obviously the odds that that would happen has got
to be slim to none. But like I also like it.
Them being pro baseball players, I think is the least
odd thing about it.

Speaker 3 (01:23:04):
Sure, okay, okay.

Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
They're like, yeah, the same name and the same birthday.
The idea that they're both like pro ballplayers is almost
like the least weird thing about it, Like that they
would come into contact and any other way would be
even weirder, like if they both were like accountant at
the local firm.

Speaker 4 (01:23:19):
If you were a pro athlete, I've got a good
sports Would you rather for your tease earlier if you
if you were a pro athlete, would you rather have
the same name as someone else who plays the same
sport as you? But you're clearly the worst of the two?
Or be a twin but you're clearly the worst twin
of the two.

Speaker 3 (01:23:39):
The first one, I think, not the twin?

Speaker 4 (01:23:44):
Shall you have like your sibling? Not the Minnesota So
would you.

Speaker 2 (01:23:48):
Rather be short Boston Celtic Isaiah.

Speaker 3 (01:23:52):
Thomas, okay, or.

Speaker 2 (01:23:54):
Or Blake Griffin's brother Taylor Griffin. That's a good one.

Speaker 4 (01:24:01):
Probably small Isaiah Thomas on the Celtics, I think, so, I.

Speaker 2 (01:24:04):
Think I'd have to go small. I'd have to go
with the Isaiah Thomas as well, even though it's so
just to be like the real Isaiah Thomas.

Speaker 9 (01:24:11):
Like that.

Speaker 2 (01:24:11):
Isaiah Thomas got MVP votes too once. It only happened once,
but I remember, I vividly remember, and the one I
was going to ask, would you rather on your team
have a bad closer or a bad kicker. If everybody
else was excellent.

Speaker 3 (01:24:30):
I'd rather have a bad kicker. I don't think you
can't live without a good closer.

Speaker 2 (01:24:35):
Your kicker is going to be your highest scoring player
on the team. And I challenged you, the Dodgers won
the World Series last year without a closer.

Speaker 3 (01:24:46):
Last year, your rokie Sosaki came in and was the
closer we didn't have that we didn't know we needed.

Speaker 2 (01:24:53):
Again, but he went into it. You said the closer
we didn't have. They didn't have a closer for most
of the all season, didn't have a closer.

Speaker 3 (01:24:59):
And but you're telling I guess when you presented the question,
I was thinking that I'm gonna deal the entire season
without finding someone to do the job. Right, So the
entire season I have no kicker, Then I guess we're
never kicking.

Speaker 4 (01:25:12):
Yeah, that's tough. I feel like, which is harder to find? Yeah,
a kicker who can knock down field goals or close.

Speaker 3 (01:25:18):
But I can still score without a kicker.

Speaker 2 (01:25:21):
I mean you can still win games on a closer.

Speaker 3 (01:25:23):
I mean sure, but you ah, yeah, it's a great one.
It's a great one.

Speaker 4 (01:25:26):
Also for the last question, another example of the twins
would be a Caden and Cameron Boozer, where Cameron's clearly.

Speaker 2 (01:25:33):
Better I mean today, but kamboos I don't know. The
book to me is still out on that. I found
it fascinating that people and I Kamboo's had a great year,
but like, I don't Kamboozer is like six'. Nine it
can't jump.

Speaker 3 (01:25:47):
Anyway one least thing About Max Swunzy. Dodgers he was
drafted by The. A's come, on, nah come on you,
guys isn't this just?

Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
Bizarre maybe they just pulled out the wrong card from
the last. Time you, know it's like, wait look at
look at the five M U. N then it was
stuck together and they just got.

Speaker 3 (01:26:08):
Lucky somebody happened to be born five years later with
the same.

Speaker 4 (01:26:10):
Way CAN i use your homework? Assignment, yeah just change
a few. Things come, On, okay speaking.

Speaker 2 (01:26:16):
Of Cameron, Boozer duke had two freshmen last year that
game and really have taken the league by storm in
terms of this, class kN knupple And Cooper. Flag but
this is the recency bias that comes from THE nba
and the idea of, like oh, well we all know

(01:26:39):
that this is going to age, weird so we don't do.
It it's it's AN nba thing THAT i can't. Stand
like the idea That Lebron james was not the rookie
of The year is okay because you didn't have the
best rookie. Year did he have the best career out
of everybody involved in two thousand and three? Drafts apps
a freaking Lutely and that may well be true for

(01:27:03):
the guy who is compared the most Of Lebron sin
Since lebron And Cooper, flag, right that very may well be.
True But Kan, kinnupple to, me has been The rookie
of The year and has not necessarily lost it simply
Because Cooper flag went for forty five and the lost
in fifty one in a. Win AND i don't say
that to be little any of, that. RIGHT i don't
say that to throw that. AWAY i just Say i've

(01:27:25):
seen kN king up all year be an impact player
for a team that in the second half of the
season started winning a ton of games and going on
a hot. Stretch and he was a major part of
it that. Team And i'm not SAYING i am not
giving him all the credit by any, stretch but they
were ready to Ship LaMelo ball To, siberia all, right

(01:27:49):
like they were. Ready there's like, You Mike singletary start
you can't win with them right, now all of a,
sudden he's functional basketball, player Like i'm not. Saying And
Charles lee the new head, coach all of. That so
things are different Than. Charlotte but to, me When i'm
looking at objectively the best rookie seasons From game one
to now what will do Tomorrow game eighty, two it Is.

(01:28:11):
Conkannupple Cooper flag has had better moments and his name
is easier to. Say conkuple is work here of the.
Year and you know, what IF i were to, BET
i would Say Cooper flag will have the, better more impactful.
Career but that's. Okay i'm not Doing career of The.
Year i'm Doing rookie of The.

Speaker 3 (01:28:27):
Year you just said that you can look at this.
Objectively MAYBE i can't BECAUSE i don't agree with. You
like you just, Said Cooper flag has had the moments
and no Watching Conk nipple shoot all those, threes break
the record for, threes it's been. Fun but if you
looked up right, now the top fifty scores in THE
nba for the league top. Fifty charlotte has. Four Konk

(01:28:53):
nipple has people around him to make it easier for.
Himself i'm not saying he is not. Good it. Is
it's been great watching. Him Cooper flag is out there
putting on a show by himself because he has no one.
Else AND i just saw him play against The clippers
and he had a rough, game could not score a
basket of his life depended on. IT i think he
had like twenty five points in the. Game he probably

(01:29:14):
took fifty, shots but he has some. Donks he took
flight and you were just, like, damn that guy is.
Good that kid is good at. Nineteen butte The Charlotte
hornets have been a fun. Team but you have four
players in the top fifty scores in the league by.

Speaker 2 (01:29:35):
Average that stat Doesn't MAYBE i need to have more.

Speaker 3 (01:29:42):
Clips One clippers have One Kawhi. Leonard you, Know i'm, saying.

Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
Like, right guys that are, scoring what is it like
that's probably about twenty point margin or something like that
little cut off of, there like with, fifteen like it's.

Speaker 3 (01:29:53):
About, NO i think IT'S i think top fifty eighteen or.
Nineteen you're, right it's but it doesn't go to. FIFTY
i think it's like, eighteen right.

Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
Like but to, me When i'm looking at it Because
charlotte is Because dallas is a horrible, team AND i
carrying a horrible, team but he's not, Though like it
would be one thing if if this, team which was
rejected to be said the number one overall pick due
to some lottery luck but again was in the lottery
was like five, hundred Then i'd be, like, yeah he's

(01:30:22):
carrying a team, like, no he's having, moments but the
team is still. Terrible the team is still not very,
good And rookie of The year winning matters less to.
Me but When i'm looking at the consistency Of kannupple
all season and look at the IMPACT i feel like
he's had on that roster all, season and Again Cooper
flag will likely have the better. Career but to, me

(01:30:43):
that would be it's not, even it's not very. Complicated to,
me It's kankannumple when it's not.

Speaker 3 (01:30:48):
HARD i would not be upset if Kan kannipple won,
it BUT i. DON'T i don't think he. Is because
of the narrative and bringing Up Lebron james And Carmelo
anthony is a perfect example because of the narrative of
who they, want who people may. Be WHEN i say
who they like the, league the pushing narrative of Who
Cooper flag is supposed to, be of what he can.

(01:31:09):
Be they need him to be THE mv The rookie
of The. Year we, see that's that's What that's What
i'm talking. About, no, yeah but but to say, he
like you, said he's had the bigger, moments so it's
not like he has.

Speaker 2 (01:31:19):
It, well you, know if we and when we do
one shining, moment.

Speaker 3 (01:31:25):
But it's not.

Speaker 2 (01:31:25):
One and when we do five shining moments for THE,
nba put all five of them in there for Old.
Cooper you know. What in, fact well we'll get a
highlight from all twenty five Of dallas ones this.

Speaker 3 (01:31:35):
Year The kankinnipals thing is shooting. Threes that's that's he
is he making other plays that you can think of
at the top of your. Head, no it's just he's hitting.

Speaker 2 (01:31:43):
THREES i wouldn't, SAY i THINK i look at the
rumbers Between Kanking up And Cooper flag are Not they
are not The gulf Of mexico divide that people Would
Grank Candy divide is probably a better. One then then
people try to make it out to be they're truly
not that far. Apart the only place where they are

(01:32:05):
far apart is in the win loss column. Facts SO
i just Again Cooper flag would likely have the BETTER nba.
Career but you know, what here's the thing For flatley right,
now if you were to ask me MVPs, one are
MVP's potentially? ONE i said it at like one and a,
half smashing the under for both of these. Guys sixty

(01:32:28):
five game rule be will throw a wrench in. Things
but from now, on from now until now, on the
conversation has to start With Victor wembinyama and that he's
not even the best, Player like he's not even the
best player in the league right, now you know What i'm,
Saying that's where the conversation. Starts so everybody at this
point is playing for third because.

Speaker 4 (01:32:48):
So no duke player has ever WON. Mvp i'm pretty
sure that's.

Speaker 2 (01:32:52):
True pretty sure that's. True you said it with the
confidence of a man who was sure was true before
you said pretty.

Speaker 4 (01:32:59):
Sure we'll call it ninety five, percent But i'll confirm right,
now ninety five.

Speaker 2 (01:33:03):
Percent you know, what while we wait on baited, breath
the other five, percent they're like chatchapt, Is like this
is WHY i. Exist i'm just. Kidding just give you
a hard. Time the answers, no answers, no and now
as there have, been Maybe.

Speaker 4 (01:33:19):
Grant, Hill Jason, tatum And Kyrie irving would have had
the best.

Speaker 2 (01:33:22):
SHOT i was about to say those would have been
the guys that had the best. Shot maybe A Elton
brand at a certain point in, time but, uh that's
a tough. One you know what ELSE i was looking
at up talk when when people kept telling me That
dusty maybe was gonna Leave michigan to go To North, Carolina, like,
yeah that's never happened in pale but look up the
last Time North carolina had An All. Star it's been

(01:33:42):
quite some. TIME Nba all starts been quite a. Minute
but speaking of quite some, time it's been real black
and goal for this team for quite some. Time but
it maybe a little sunshine in the rocks in the. Lineup,
NO massi has what would you, say like a good
things to? Come, yeah for a team that hasn't seen the.

Speaker 3 (01:34:04):
Love exactly exactly get to that Next.

Speaker 2 (01:34:09):
I'll tell you, WHAT monti there are only a handful
of must see moments that happen every, day and right
now we're in the midst of one of. Them I'm
Martin Weiss Monty bilaos here On Fox Sports radio and
show Hal tony's up the. Back, yep that's What i'm talk.
About it's a must see. Moment you'll see that happens every.

Speaker 3 (01:34:28):
Day, yeah you'll stop what you're doing and just, watch
or maybe you're in the car and you want to.
Listen you will absolutely stop what you're doing to WATCH
Shoeo tony strike.

Speaker 2 (01:34:38):
Out it's like when you when that song is on
and you get to the driveway or you find that parking,
spot but he's still got a minute fifteen staying. There
i'm hanging. Out it's a lovely. Day i'm putting the
window down a. BIT i will see them WHEN i get. There,
okay that's what it. Is WHEN O tony's up to,
bat is he just strikes. Out if you go two

(01:34:58):
for three with the solo home run so far, today
so you just say we'll have more on that in
about eight.

Speaker 3 (01:35:02):
Minutes, YEAH i know you got me with.

Speaker 8 (01:35:03):
That.

Speaker 3 (01:35:03):
ABSOLUTELY i definitely stay in the. Car but it's a good,
vibe a good. Song finish it, out and Then i'm
even in a better state of mind well with Whatever
i'm doing next. Exactly, yeah love.

Speaker 2 (01:35:13):
It especially when you know you like you just going
back into the. House you, KNOW i don't got no
where to. Be plenty of, times even when it's.

Speaker 3 (01:35:21):
Work it's LIKE i got nowhere to. Be i'll get
there WHEN i get.

Speaker 2 (01:35:23):
THERE i about to say that. Depends it, depends because your,
boy your, Boy if you don't see me about fifteen
minutes before, SHIFT i may not be coming all. Right,
so speaking of showing up to, work The Pittsburgh pirates
have called Up Connor. GRIFFIN i only just called him,
up locked him, up. Yep AND i know this was
a Big you, know he's nineteen years, old one of

(01:35:47):
the top prospects in baseball and now is going, to
at least for the foreseeable, future be A. Pirate you
had one hit, Today, yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:35:56):
Yeah, yeah what a GREAT i, think a great thing
if you're A Pittsburgh pirates. Fan this this is a
franchise that has been made fun of over the years
for not, trying for not. Spending if it wasn't last,
year it was the year before they. Sound they Signed
rowdy to les and then they cut him before he

(01:36:18):
reached some number that gave him a. Bonus like they
they've been known as. Cheap they've been known as a
not a good franchise in comparison to.

Speaker 2 (01:36:28):
Others september twenty twenty, four he was four plate of
appearance To shy of a two hundred thousand dollars bonus.

Speaker 3 (01:36:33):
Boom not not a good, look not a good.

Speaker 2 (01:36:37):
Look BUT i try to take down one to the.
Arbitrator you're gonna have To you're gonna have to tell.

Speaker 3 (01:36:42):
Me you're not paying a no for, sure for, sure
since there's been just in recent. Years you looked at
The pirates and you thought they were a bit of
a joke of a. Franchise now here they are making
a move and making it loud so everyone can. HEAR
i think this is exactly what you would want if
you're a fan of The. Pirates this is what you
wanted to. SEE i wanted you to agree to pay

(01:37:05):
someone higher than you've ever paid, someone somebody with talent
at nineteen years old that can come in and be
a compliment To Paul. Skins everyone thinking that not, everyone
But i've read some people think that this is gonna
this is indicating that they don't want to Pay Paul.
Skins to, me this is, Indicating, Yo Paul, skins if
we paid this guy, this just think of what we

(01:37:26):
want to pay.

Speaker 2 (01:37:27):
You AND i would say at a certain, point AND
i do think that there is a push In Major
League baseball now to be a little bit more competitive
at the, bottom, Right AND i think when you're looking
at the different rule changes and the kind of the
excitement that is at the game, now these guys are
losing out all money by not competing at a high.

(01:37:49):
Level when you're looking at like what The a's are, doing, shameless,
right you know WHAT i? Mean like that's some of
the at a certain, point go back to the conversation
having earlier like some of these teams in all sports
are heavily subsidized by the top of the. Market it's
true for every professional, league and that in baseball needs

(01:38:12):
to change more because it's the gap is so.

Speaker 3 (01:38:16):
Big it's so, big and even the as THOUGH i
will say The a's in the last two, years not
the contract size of what The Pittsburgh pirates just. Did
they have signed some big deals for. Them there's a
couple of PLAYERS i want to, Say Mason, MILLER i
want to, Say.

Speaker 2 (01:38:31):
I'm thinking of the last days In. Oakland, oh for,
sure they're like shamelessly selling.

Speaker 3 (01:38:38):
Players BUT i feel like they're trying to do something.
Different but this is like the right. STEP i also
think this is probably What Paul skeins. Wants you're bringing
in a guy that can take some of the pressure
off of me as in being the face of the
league like, that that's a lot of. Responsibility and you
get this young guy who's already. Married you Got Paul

(01:38:59):
skans With Livyd, like he's LIKE i already not only
DO i bring, MYSELF i Got livy, Done, connor what
else are you?

Speaker 2 (01:39:05):
Bringing Connor griffin's already.

Speaker 3 (01:39:07):
Married he is married nineteen years. Old so LIKE i
feel like he brings and alleviates a little bit of
the pressure For Paul. Skeins i'm not, Saying paul this
Guarantees Paul skins is going to stay At Pittsburgh. Pirate
that's not What i'm saying at. All BUT i think
these are the right moves to try and make that.
Happen Because Paul skins was definitely not going to stay.
There if you weren't building around, him there was no

(01:39:28):
reason for him. To but you want to spend money
and you want to try and build a. Team i'm
interested because obviously he's not going anywhere for the next
couple of. Years but With connor with willing to span
to spend money on a nineteen year old, shortstop that's
only good things can come from.

Speaker 2 (01:39:44):
It, YEAH i mean, YOU i, mean it's definitely good, process,
right and all you can grade in moments like this
is the. PROCESS i just him now deep diving Into Pono. Griffin,
WELL i MEAN i knew he was he was, ballplayer,
mean he was From. MISSISIS i didn't know he was From.
Mississippi this is. Crazy it was fourteen years old in twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:40:08):
Twenty, yeah which sounds like not that long. Ago and you're,
like you were fourteen twenty. TWENTY i, know six years,
ago but it just doesn't sound like it was that long.

Speaker 2 (01:40:17):
Ago sounds like it was just, yesterday married and married
his high school. Sweetheart they've barely, Graduated like you know
What i'm. Saying it's like you don't even have to
say high.

Speaker 4 (01:40:26):
School it's implied he was in middle school in the.

Speaker 2 (01:40:30):
Pandemic But i'm saying like, this like high school, Sweetheart
like you say high school, sweetheart because like, insensibly if
you've met other people outside of high, school they're. Thirty,
yeah you married your high school, sweetheart you know sometimes throughout.
College this is just. Sweetheart this is just Sweet what

(01:40:50):
do you? Mean high? School so this is just? Sweetheart?
Right it Was Connor griffin's element third grade girlfriend shaking her.
Fist are you kidding? Me the one that got?

Speaker 3 (01:41:01):
Away third?

Speaker 2 (01:41:02):
Grade sixth? GRADE i fasting that, note we were switching,
classes and now all of a, sudden you're married her
just six years. Later, yeah it was a high school
swe is a, sweetheart hengradulates to the happy. Couple. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:41:17):
Married so it's, like, say, see like all these THINGS
i think are good. Signs everything's pointing upward for The.

Speaker 2 (01:41:24):
Pirates high school sweetheart that's rich all.

Speaker 3 (01:41:27):
Right but has a smile that y'all can't, See like
he's just loving. THIS i thought this was a SMILE
i was gonna get with The Max munsey, story with
the Other Max, monsey BUT i did not get the
reaction that he is giving. Now he is so giddy
on this storyteen year.

Speaker 2 (01:41:41):
OLD i, mean they shouldn't be. Anymore they should have
graduated by. Now but there's nineteen year olds in high school.

Speaker 3 (01:41:46):
Still see how happy he Loves he's so happy with his.
Story that's.

Speaker 7 (01:41:56):
Funny oh, yeah absolutely it. Is if we may not
be able to see the, smile we can all hear.

Speaker 2 (01:42:01):
It so the radio is.

Speaker 7 (01:42:03):

(01:45:03):
MEDENA nba reporter For Essentially sports and you can hear
him On Fox Sports radio all the. Time, mark how you,
doing my?

Speaker 1 (01:45:10):
FRIEND i am doing.

Speaker 6 (01:45:12):
WELL i got to connect with You monsey on A.
Saturday nothing. Better you.

Speaker 2 (01:45:16):
Know i'm glad you're here BECAUSE i need you to
help me settle a. Debit is it? IS i know
that things have, changed sixty five game rules on and so. Forth,
Mark is it Still rookie of The year or is
It rookie of the? Moment how does that is that?
Determined BECAUSE i could have sworn the kan Ko upples
had a much better year Than Cooper. Flag BUT i

(01:45:37):
Know Cooper flag had a few moments last. Week, wait
so just help me out. Here rookie of The, year
forget the, moment It's rookie of The.

Speaker 6 (01:45:45):
Year but, LOOK i think you can make the case
for either player Because Cooper flag like he's playing at
a really great. Level, yeah he started off, slow but
it's because he was playing point. Guard that's not something
he's used. To he's not playing all winning. Team but
when you look AT mvp voting Versus rookie The year
voting vote win loss is usually not a. Criteria but

(01:46:08):
on the point, counterpoint like Conk nipple is showing he's
not just a, shooter he's an all round, player and
they're in the playing. Tournament, yes they have guys Like
Brandon miller And LaMelo, ball it's not Just canipple carrying,
them but they were kind of a hot mess before
he got. There so, YEAH i, MEAN i don't think
there's a wrong answer in this. Debate SO i respectfully Disagree,

(01:46:32):
martin it's Not rookie of the, moment It's rookie of the.
YEAR i think every player With Cooper, Flag Kank, nipple
they've shown a pretty strong body of work from start to.

Speaker 3 (01:46:42):
Finish, mark let's say with this sixty five game, rule
with what's happened this, YEAR i mean, like let's not
even talk about the fact that three hundred players missed
the second to last game of the regular season for whatever.

Speaker 6 (01:46:54):
Reasons, yeah there's a pandemic going. AROUND i guess.

Speaker 3 (01:46:57):
Exactly exactly do you think that sixty five game rule
is going to change next?

Speaker 6 (01:47:02):
Year, Well Adam silver said he likes. It the league
has maintained they don't see. It BUT i think it will.
Change BUT i think just by, TECHNICALITY i think they'll
change the number of. GAMES i don't know what that'll look,
like but it'll just be. MARGINAL i don't think they're
going to change the spirit of the rule, because whether

(01:47:23):
you like it or, not THE nba has reported some
modest improvements in player participation since you, know it was
enacted in twenty twenty, three and they want to maximize you,
know THE tv, viewing especially for national. Broadcasts, ironically it
still hasn't solved the problem. Here and here's WHERE i

(01:47:44):
unpack this with the. League it doesn't solve the issue at.
All it's, just you, know it's something that sounds like it's,
nice but it's kind of fake. Hustle, well on the player's,
END i don't think they're victims. Here, either not only
because the union collectively bargained, it but there's a reason
why THE nba felt a need to pass a rule
because player availability was such a. Thing and now the

(01:48:06):
players will, say, well it's not fair that all of a,
sudden we're not proving to ALL nba and that affects our,
financials et, cetera et. Cetera but those are. Bonuses that's
something that their agents and them negotiating their. Contracts it's
a much different conversation than if we're talking about contracts
suddenly being voided and non guaranteed after an. Injury SO

(01:48:29):
i think when you look at the whole big picture,
here both sides are, blameless but the bigger blame deserves
the point to the, league AND i think that they
should change, it and they will change.

Speaker 1 (01:48:40):
It but just not.

Speaker 6 (01:48:41):
Enough it'll just be about reducing a few games here or,
there but the same problem will be there because that's
usually what THE nba. Does they try to solve, things you,
know by the, margins without actually attacking the real substance
of the.

Speaker 2 (01:48:58):
Issue Mark wadina, Here martin And Montsy Fox Sports. Radio,
mark uh, all, right let me answer. Me this more
likely to happen a team that has never won a
postseason series winning THE Nba, finals or a team that's
already won a championship winning the. Finals SO i think

(01:49:19):
you got, like, oh you, know you know the.

Speaker 6 (01:49:21):
Deal, yeah The thunder win the championship than The. SPURS
i gather that's where you're getting.

Speaker 2 (01:49:27):
At BUT i, mean or just even get to the, finals,
right BECAUSE i get winning the finals or something. Different
But i'm looking at The you look at the one
seeds on either, side have? It the one seed on,
yeah the one seed on the eastern side never won
a Postseason San antonio never won a postseason. Series and
then you're looking at THE. Nba we have currently eight
seven unique champions in the last seven years or eight,

(01:49:50):
whatever and and you haven't seen a repeat champion get
past the second, round and it feels like. Forever So
i'm wondering if you had to pick out of the
pool Of, Piston San antonio or the, remainder where would you.

Speaker 6 (01:50:05):
Go, yeah it's a good trend you. CITED i think
that this year is going to be the. EXCEPTION i
think it's going to be The thunder because they have
most of their players, back they have home court Advantage
that played their advantage last year in the playoffs with
having a game seven up until the. Finals, obviously Tyres
halburn's injury played a, factor but the bottom line is
The thunder have most everyone, Back they're in their, prime

(01:50:27):
they're mostly, healthy and even when there's, injuries they can absorb.
IT i don't think The spurs are overwhelmed with the.
Moment they have a lot of, maturity good, organization BUT
i do wonder can they adjust to the slower pace
they mostly play at a faster pace in the regular.
SEASON i think their defense is their calling, card BUT

(01:50:47):
i think if they weren't facing a team like The,
THUNDER i could see them win. Ins just that The
thunder have so much, reinforcements, continuity, talent and they're not
an old team that it's going to be relatively easier
to repeat than other. Seasons on The, EAST i didn't
think this was going to. HAPPEN i thought The celtics

(01:51:07):
were going to be a playing team at, Best but
NOW i think not only are they a playoff, contender
they're the favor to get to The East BECAUSE i
Think Jason tatum's going to increase this game even more
in the postseason once is now that it's, conditioning timing
is better and everything else will be pretty well. Maintained and,
Yeah Jalen brown will after just a, role but they've
done that really well in past. Seasons and with The

(01:51:32):
pistons like unbelievers in them as far as their long term,
trajectory BUT i don't think they're quite ready yet because
of their. Inconsistency Kate cunningham in THE mvp, conversation but
every so often he'll have some bad. Games they're three
point shooting on, paper they have really good three point,
shooters but they're. Inconsistent they are a good defensive, team they're, physical,

(01:51:55):
rugged you, know they make the bad Boy pistons. Proud
but because of their offensive, INCONSISTENCY i think That boston will.
Prevail so with, THAT i think there'll Be Thunder, celtics
AND i Think thunder take it in.

Speaker 2 (01:52:07):
Six.

Speaker 3 (01:52:08):
Wow all, Right, mark last one for, me your story
on essentially Sports Cameron boozer potentially the number one draft,
pick who, knows but for somebody who was not there
talking to. Him is there something that the reader would
not get from from your, Story like what did you
make Of Cameron boozer as a.

Speaker 6 (01:52:28):
Person, yeah WHAT i made from, him he was like pretty,
stoic pretty even. Keel you could tell that he's been
around the block as far as just what it's about
being THE nba and just being exposed to so many different.
People and you can credit his, Father Carlos boozer to.
That he talked extensively about his father's, influence where you,

(01:52:51):
know he's telling him right, now like stay in the,
moment be, Humble and that really came, across you, know
WHEN i asked, him what's youhort case would be a
number one? Pick you, know he, said you know WHAT
i think separates me as my. Competitiveness AM i winning a?
Bit but to be, clear he did not say he
should be the number one. Pick he didn't say he
cares if he's the number one. Pick he made it

(01:53:13):
clear that, look this is just the. Beginning. Now it's
all about proving how good to a player you can
be and how long of a career that you can.
Have SO i know it's cliche for prospects to, say,
oh it's about the right, team right, Fit BUT i
think his bigger point was his self awareness that you,
know game draft is just the beginning of your. Career
now it's on you to prove that you belong in

(01:53:35):
the league and that he can stay in the league
for a long.

Speaker 2 (01:53:37):
Time, yeah and if anybody would know about getting drafted
just being the start of the, career that'd Be Carlos
booz or his, dad Because carlos bounced around for a.
Bit very successful, player but a guy who saw very
several different situations among HIS nba. Life, well as you,
know second round, pick star role, player he kind of
ran the whole. Gambit And duke again will likely have

(01:53:59):
two what top ten, picks no Dow our top whatever
fifteen picks and Another march. Disappointment Josh hires call time.
Out you still got it in your, Pocket john still
got it right. There there's a freshman out, There John
Mark mdeda far from. Afreshman thanks for coming on the,
show my. Friend appreciate.

Speaker 6 (01:54:16):
You Last, martin thanks for having me In Monte. Real
quick Prediction clippers win the playing. Tournament don't. Worry, YES
i don't know what's going to happen in the first.

Speaker 3 (01:54:24):
Round, no we kind of know what's going to happen
the first. Round but it's. Okay we started six and twenty. One,
Mark we're.

Speaker 2 (01:54:29):
Good he just doesn't want to speak it into. Existence
how about that clap it up one, moment say sincerely
for a team in THE nba to start six and
twenty one go and For Mark medeinda to predict them
to win a play in. Game Like i'm, saying it's
a little tongue in, cheek but like a lot of
teams would have mailed. It in a quarter of the,
season they only won six.

Speaker 3 (01:54:48):
Games and after Training James harden training of eats a
zubats so many times where they could have just done
what all other teams are doing, tanking and they did.
It we will win the playing, game but we PROBABLY
i won't win the first.

Speaker 2 (01:55:00):
Round, sorry you'll you'll definitely win the battle and lose the.

Speaker 3 (01:55:04):
War, yeah exactly, Exactly but sor, Right i'll be. There
i'll either get to watch you, Know sga Or. Wemby
let's go.

Speaker 2 (01:55:12):
Coming up, next we saw every man's dream realized by
one person. Today we'll get to that in just a.
Second because everybody wishes they could have a moment just like.
THIS i don't know a single man on a planet
that doesn't wish they could have a single moment just like.
This we'll get to it. Next Martin, weiss Monste, Bolanos

(01:55:35):
Fox Sports, Radio Fox Sports, saturday keeping a seat warm
For errantrys And Jason martin will be coming up. Next
and that was the sound that was the song right,
There what's going? On As roy McElroy had a six
stroke lead and at the end of eighteen holes looked,
up he, said what is going? On what is going?
On i'm now tied for? First what's going?

Speaker 3 (01:55:55):
On but at least he's still died for.

Speaker 2 (01:55:58):
First this was a, Banger, yeah this, was but there
was one woman in particular When roy had to, say
what the hell is going? On and it's, literally quite
honestly every man's dream.

Speaker 7 (01:56:12):
Scenario just a seven iron From Shane lowry here at
the part of three, sixth one hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:56:17):
And ninety yards, downhill back, left whole. Location this is pretty,
good one hop short of the flag, stick rolling, perfectly
and it's in that ace For Shane lowry at the.
Sixth that is the seventh.

Speaker 4 (01:56:31):
Ace in the ninety year history Of Augusta national and
The masters and everybody watching signaled touchdown For Shane.

Speaker 2 (01:56:39):
Lowry so seven times ninety, years, right and it's just
like that is a story that if if you just do. That,
Obviously shane lor is one of the best offers in the,
world and after his post ROUND i don't know if
you saw, This, moncie but his post round comment was
Maybe i'm just good, yeah or Maybe i'm just good.

(01:57:00):
Yeah but, like that's one of those that if you
hit a hole in one with your, buddies you're definitely
drinking for free that, night maybe for more than one,
night and you're definitely never letting anybody forget.

Speaker 3 (01:57:13):
It, oh absolutely, right and.

Speaker 2 (01:57:15):
Then your friends have to like acknowledge, it but in
they probably hate on you a bit because they'll never
do it. Right so you know you're the only. One.

Speaker 3 (01:57:23):
Right it's one of those read things where you can't
SAY i could do. That let's, go let's go try
it out, RIGHT i could beat, YOU i could get,
THERE i could Do, no this is so. RARE i,
mean the guy THAT i don't know who's was on
the play by, play he could have sounded a little
bit more.

Speaker 2 (01:57:37):
Excited so that's the thing about golf.

Speaker 3 (01:57:38):
MONDS i understand before every now and, then come, on
you just said only the seventh time you would have
thought it was a seventh time you've seen it in the.

Speaker 2 (01:57:46):
Day, yeah lower you approaching on. Six the most exciting
thing he had was that looks. Good that looks. Good,
Yeah i'm with you a little, bit just a little.
Bit AS i am not a golf. Traditionalist, AGAIN i
pop in On, sunday a close matches or. Whatever i'm
here to watch people fail and struggle and shake and

(01:58:06):
wilt under. Pressure And i'm not afraid to admit. That
right If america could use more, Honesty i'm trying to
be the, part you, know be the CHANGE i want to.
See that's What i'm here. For LIKE i know that
Like Dan, bayer for, example is watching this From thursday
first shotgus to End sunday and wishing there was. More,
Yes i'll be locked in tomorrow to see who's going
to embarrass. Themselves, absolutely but that's gotta. Be LIKE i

(01:58:30):
think about, this what's cooler dunking on somebody catching the
touchdown hole in one in the right group of? Four come, on,
man it's hard to.

Speaker 3 (01:58:38):
Be it's got to. Be like so it's more not
a home run like A Grand, slam walk Off Grand
slam and extra innings or a hole in, one because.

Speaker 2 (01:58:45):
The thing, is the thing is ABOUT i was thinking
about this BECAUSE i would have, previously we, said really
really getting dunking on somebody really good would have been.
Better but the thing about the hole in one that
makes it. Better the, old the older you, get they
can still not do. It do you know What i'm.

(01:59:07):
Saying it's, like, well, eventually LIKE i could dunk until
about my sophomore year in, college and then after that
it was. Over i've never dunked. Again, Right so even
IF i did dunk on you at freshman, Year we're
both sitting on a couch. Laughing he's, like you can't
do it. Anymore he's, like, well, hey you know, what
you never could do a hole in?

Speaker 3 (01:59:26):
One. Right anyone can dunk anyone at some, point anyone can.

Speaker 2 (01:59:30):
Rich come up from.

Speaker 3 (01:59:31):
YOU i, mean listen on The Fisher PRICE i, HAD
i was a really good. Dunker, Okay SO i EVEN
i could even pull the ball okay on My Fisher price. Hoop,
Okay so don't be hating.

Speaker 2 (01:59:45):
Another CAN i have another sports would you rather? Question for?

Speaker 1 (01:59:47):
You all?

Speaker 4 (01:59:48):
Right so would you rather hit a hole in one in?
Golf but have no one be around to see, it
or get dunked on in a high school basket game
in a full arena and everyone's jim.

Speaker 2 (02:00:04):
See i'd rather get dunked on BECAUSE i can get get.
Back IF i hate the hole OF i come back.
Down Hey New, Mike i'm coming for you next time. Down,
buddy you thought you could bang me in the? Post, no, no, no.
Sirt but IF i hte that hole in one and
nobody sees, it nobody's ever gonna.

Speaker 3 (02:00:20):
Believe no one's ever gonna.

Speaker 2 (02:00:21):
Believe it's not even worth bringing. Up you get dunked.

Speaker 4 (02:00:24):
On it's On World Star Hip, Hop it's, On it's On, Twitter,
tikitar you.

Speaker 3 (02:00:28):
Had a chance to go and redeem. Yourself you.

Speaker 2 (02:00:31):
Do, Listen everybody gets. Dunked it's part of the. Game
it is if you if you play defense hard, enough
you're gonna get. It you just can't get dunkeed on a.
Lot you know What i'm. Saying once you start getting
dunked on a, lot the problem it goes from everybody
gets dunked? Onto why is this your character? Trick? Valid
do you know What i'm? Saying it's, like what do you?

(02:00:51):
Do every you like to work once or. Twice you know,
now you're just always like you just never hear get.
It i'm gonna hit a hole.

Speaker 3 (02:00:57):
In one me, too BUT i want somebody to see.

Speaker 2 (02:00:59):
It that's what we'll go, together so we'll be at
each other's. Witnesses, OH i love.
