Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
That's right, Martin Wise here joined with Zach Harper. Monsey
Belano taking a well deserved Saturday off here. Tomorrow she's
gonna be hosting with Kerry Rhodes, I do believe. But
right now we've got Zach Harper here with Zach. How
you doing, my friend? I'm excellent.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
How you doing, dude?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
You've got the best two words in sports my CTV
cinema in the making, Victor Webbinon. That's right, two best
words of sports.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Get used to it. Next fifteen years, that's what we
all hope to see.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
But right now we'll see for the next forty eight
minutes or show if he's able to advance to the
Western I mean to the NBA Finals. They're in the
Western Conference Finals, Game seven, and it is a game
that has tons of storylines.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
We're gonna be live up against it.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
But right now, while we have you know, the advertised time,
if there's anything I need Congress to address, the advertised
time for this game has been eight o'clock eastern, mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
And it you know it's.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Eight oh two eastern and we are not watching basketball. No,
I'll tell you what if I was watching American Idol,
it'd be on at the advertised time I was watching whatever.
Bobby Flay the right cookbar rescue at the NBA Finals.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
No, no, we've got we got graphics, we've got shots
of Oklahoma City. We don't have basketball, just and just
probably one more go around to make sure everybody gets
all around. Let's make sure we get some picks in.
Let's make sure we get some intros in. Maybe the
anthem we'll get to basketball at some point.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Well, we'll skip the anthem, We'll skip the intros.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Let's go ahead and make some picks at this moment,
I am picking the San Antonio Spurs here.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Okay, And there's my rationale.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
I understand that teams have to bump their heads theoretically
in the postseason prior to going to the finals.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
You never really see that. It's never the.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Freshman team going all the way to graduation doesn't quite happen.
You have to get some pelts on the wall, lose
a crushing six game series somewhere along the way, and
then you are then allowed to advance to the NBA
Finals and have a chance. Right, And that's how it's
been in the Eastern Conference the last three years or
the last of hell forever, but the last especially the
(02:20):
last few years because Indiana was in Indiana lost New
York in the finals, Now lost to Indiana. Indiana in
the finals, now lost to Boston. Boston was in the
finals the year before, right, So you're going through and
you're seeing these teams literally bump their heads right in
that last series before the finals.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Okay, cool, got that filed away.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
I also have never seen anything in my lifetime, and
I'm thirty six. But YouTube exists, so I've seen a
lot more than just my lifetime. Yeah, I've never seen
anything like Victim Webanyama before. And while it is true
it has been a bit of a roller coaster, the
Victor Wembyama Stock Exchange series, if you may, up and down,
(03:01):
up and down a bit, the ups are way is
I've never seen this before, and so when I've seen
something I've never seen before, I am reserving the right
to throw out all of my previous information, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
I was making this point earlier today.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
The best way to know what the weather's gonna be
on June first is to look at the weather in
previous years. However, if it just so happens it is
a blizzard on May thirtieth, I think I may reevaluate my.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Strategy and probably get a coat.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
I don't know it last you know, last ten June first,
it was eighty five degrees.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Well, it's snowing outside.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
So I'm gonna ignore that there's an alien on the
court in Oklahoma City. I'm going to ignore the fact
that these teams are supposed to pump their heads before
they advance in the postseason.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
And I'm gonna go ahead and say, against all conventional wisdom.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
That this is gonna be the team that gets it
done because of this player.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
There, there's an example. And still this team did bump
their head, right. But the nineteen seventy one Milwaukee Bucks,
it was their third year of existence, it was their
second year with kream A dul Jabbar, and they won
the championship. Now, they had been to the playoffs the
year before and played two rounds or something like that
didn't win it. So yes, they did bump their heads.
(04:22):
They did go through the steps, right, But Kareem was
someone we had never seen before, even as great as
Wilt was, and all Kareem was a different level of
dominance as well from every single level of basketball. The
thing that made me so angry in the early days
of Wemby was the disrespect of like, we've seen this before,
(04:46):
we have Kevin Durant, we've seen this before, We've seen
Bull Bowl. I'm not trying to be mean about Bowl Bull,
but get the bleep out of it. Like it was so,
it was so Diggs.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
And tell you like.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
The year before Wenby gets drafted, the NBA app puts
his French League games on the app, streaming live every game,
and I went into that first game, I'm like, all right,
I've read about this kid. I've never seen him play basketball,
read about this kid. I am ready to pick this
thing apart. Absolutely tell me the seven four to seven
five kid blah blah can do all. No, not a chance.
(05:22):
I am going to hate, and I'm going to hate harder,
and not.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Just that, because at this point we've been sold the
the Zion Williamson, Okay, Conningham, Ken, Evan.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Bob, He's going to be Kevin Garnett.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
And Tim Duncan at the same time, right, So I'm
ready to ill with you.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
I'm here to hate and to pick it apart. Five
minutes into that first game, he hadn't even done a
whole lot. Oh no, this kid is it, This kid
is it. He is so good. He is going to
rule this league he had. He is something we've never seen.
I think he's seven to seven seven eight. I don't
know how tall he is. Something that needs to happen.
(05:59):
Is someone need to take a tape measure and make
him stand against the wall and do the actual height
because he is a thing we have never seen and
probably will never see again already, and he's in his
third year. He is absolutely capable. And here's the thing
he's he's capable of skipping steps. Game one or game two,
they lose, and I don't always put a lot into
(06:20):
plus minus, but I do when it comes to this.
Game two, they lose by nine points. He was plus
one in thirty seven minutes. Right Game three, they lose
by fifteen. In thirty nine minutes, he was plus four.
That means in nine minutes of play they got outscored
by nineteen points when.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
He was on the bench.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
Yep, the game five where he was horrendous minus eight,
Like that's the one where it's like, yeah, he was
bad and they couldn't do anything with him on the
court as well. He is the human like the human
kind of prover of plus minus of Like, yeah, he's
the guy that, like, you have to survive the eight
minutes he doesn't play. And we've seen players like this before,
(07:01):
but with him, especially for a team this young and inexperience, yep.
To keep moving on. And I picked Spurs in seven
before the series. After Game five, I thought the thunder,
We're gonna win six. I was like, oh no, I
don't like the way they played. They responded at home
the way they're supposed to, and there's just something different
about this kid.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
So and I think what was interesting about game six was.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Wemby came out Game six and hit like two home
runs in the first two winnings.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
And then didn't do much out Like you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
He impacted the game along the way, but it felt
like Steph Curry used to have this same impact, but
like he would hit a three that felt like it
was worth nine points. Yeah, Like Wemby hit two threes
in the first quarter that felt like they were twelve
point three pointers, right, It was like, Wow, that was massive.
And so I'm not taking anything away from him putting
an impact on that game.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
But then I was wondering if they were ever gonna
need him.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
To like ramp it back up offense, right, because the
thing about the Spurs which is fascinating is that despite
having this seventh whatever monster freaking nature down there or
out there, sometimes just play on the wing. They're very
egalitarian who shoots, you know, They're very like the open
(08:18):
those Spurs basketball thing. Pop's not the coach anymore, it is, hey,
we get the right shot, so and so I want
to I think about that, and I was wondering if
he's gonna have to like re impact this game in
a way, he's gonna get to come back and go
for possessions in a row where he's just boom boom,
boom boom, and he never had to do it in
Game six, And that I think is going to bode
(08:41):
well for San Antonio in Game seven, because if Game
six have been down to the wire, like similar to
Game one, where we're like we're high pressure in the
last minute, maybe we're going to overtime. Game one obviously
did I would feel a lot better about Okac's chances here.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
But because because I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
The biggest thing for me for san Antonio and Game
five showed a little bit of the lack of experience,
But to me, it's been about fatigue, right, It's been
about do these guys have the ability to stay mentally
sharp through the fatigue, because even when Steph Castle turned
the ball over fifteen freaking times and again, they're still
competitive because they have the energy to get up and
(09:23):
down the court.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Well that's Isn't that an interesting thing about San Antonio
because I've thought that they've looked tired at times in
this series, which you look at their minutes throughout the season.
Wemby twenty nine minutes a game. All these dudes like
in the twenty five to twenty nine minute range. No
one really extended minutes. You're like, oh, well, they got
fresh legs, And there's a difference between fresh legs and
being conditioned to play thirty eight forty minutes in a
(09:45):
playoff game, right, And I think the Spurs have had
to adjust to that. They've had to figure that out
in real time what that means for their energy distribution
and how they're going to do this stuff. But man
like Wemby is just that guy where if I was
it's crazy say about a twenty one, twenty two year
old who hasn't.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Won anything yet.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
But if I needed someone to win a game right now,
I would pick him because he's just different and I
get it. Look, he hasn't done anything. You want to say,
wait till he does something. Fine, you can be late
on this, like this is just your choice of when
you want to get on board with Wemby because he
is going to be. He is the best player in
the world and he's going to be for a very
long time.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
And with all that being said, somebody who did win
something is on the other side of this game, a
really good player, a two time MVP, right, a two
time MVP.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
But I'll say this, shake Gilgess.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Alexander knows what's happening because I'm paraphrasing, but he said
it post game. I believe he said, yeah, the big
either post game or had to be post game. They're
not doing in between media. But he said, this is
the biggest game of my career. And somebody was like, uh,
you sure you know you were a game seven like
a parafram, You're Game seven of the finals last year.
(10:58):
And then Shay and was like, oh, I mean, it's
the next game of my career and if I lose
this one, it's over. But he started it with this
is the biggest game of my career, and I thought,
you tell me if you think I'm going too far here,
it's a tascit understanding that, like, we are only gonna
have so many opportunities to knock up against the door
(11:21):
with this guy here, and right now we are as
close as we are going to be to being able
to vanquish him along the way.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
And he's got to your point.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
I mean, he got all the awards this year except
for MVP that he was eligible before, but up until
this year, none of them had nothing to show for
nothing the trophy case. He I mean, this is the
thing is Shaye sees what's in front of him. Shae
the most unstoppable score in the league. That's why a
shooting percentage is like that. He keeps seeing what's in
front of.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
The thirty seven point nine percent of this series, we've
ever seen him shoot thirty seven point nine percent over
six game, six games span, Like no, like he knows
what's here. And because Wenby's present, it allows everyone else
to defend him a lot more aggressively. Yeah, he gets
to the freak line all that stuff, but he knows
that this is here, like, this is the worst Wemby
is going to be for thirteen fourteen years probably.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Yeah, save for health and obviously you cross your fingers
and all of that you did miss. You know, obviously
a significant amount of time in the first two seasons
he was available and I think to the point that
we have danced around he was available for this when
the sixty five games all that, but again, twenty nine
minutes a game. I know they had a level a
heavy impact in some people's MVP voting that he didn't
(12:35):
play so many minutes and so on. And now you
see in the seven game series this there being there. Yeah,
this is our first seven game series so far. But
you see fatigue. It is like, oh, is this fatigue
from not playing too much?
Speaker 3 (12:50):
The New York.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Knicks having a similar debate, right in terms of this
is that's the age old question of rest versus rust
that you know. Obviously I don't think the Knixt I
don't know what they could have possibly done to make
that series go longer.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Can't throw games. I mean, they might have just played
four players instead of five.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
But even if you had taken Michale Bridges off the
court at that point, no dispect them, Josh, how are
you name it?
Speaker 3 (13:13):
They still might have been able to beat Cleveland like
fast break, you know they would have been able to
get them. But uh, it is that question.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Rest first, Russ and who you know, how you're able
to maintain that is like the kind of the maintaining
through the regular season of making sure Wen he's available first,
making sure that he's in peak physical condition to be
able to withstand the It's a grind watching the playoffs,
so it's got to be a grind playing the players.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
It's got it.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
I mean he's look, he's not gonna get there because
the game's played. But teams that win championships are trying
to manage a one hundred game season. Yes, one hundred
plus game like that is just what it is. And
so you know that like we can we can do
all the back in my day players did this. Cool,
that's still a lot. That's a lot of games in
(14:01):
a short amount of time, and they're playing these games
every other day. And it's not to feel sorry for
it's just the reality of like, yeah, you're doing this
with the highest mental focus possible, the highest conditioning needed possible.
And he's gone through a couple of lolls in this
had one really bad game everything else. I mean, it's
funny like I'm with you, Like it didn't seem like
he did all that hit twenty eight and ten less
(14:23):
game right, just a casual twenty eight and ten in
a game six where it's back against the wall.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
It's a testament right now to his ability like it.
I can't even I have to come.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Up with more superlatives and analogies.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
But it's like if a guy dropped his first album
and then you know, had a Oh what do you
mean your second single only debuted at number two on
the chart, right, Oh, what a loser.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Gotta let's sell early on this guy. Come it up next.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Game seven of the Western Conference Finals about to tip
start off sixteen minutes after the advert. Guys, time call
your senator. Let's get this fixed, all right, Bud coming
up next? Rest versus Russ. We just talked about it.
Who would the Knicks rather see the alien of the MVP?
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Will debate?
Speaker 5 (15:13):
This is Rob Parker and I'm here with an important
public service announcement. Whatever you do, do not listen to
the Paulie and Tony Fusco Show.

have the dumbest takes ever in all of sports talk.
And you know, if I'm saying that, they must really
be bad. I have no idea why Fox Sports Radio
picked this up, but I know where to put it
(15:44):
down in the trash can. So please don't listen to
the Paulie and Tony Fusco Show.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
No way, no how.

Zach Carper, I found out a take that they did
not like of mine when I was feeling it for
Kelvin Wallas, what did you do in the odd Couple?
(16:35):
I had the audacity to say that I think that
the that Jackson Dart introducing Trump was not a massive
political moment that was going to rock the New York
Giants going forward through their season. I think that it
was gonna just do I think he should have done it?
Probably not? Yeah, But like I didn't think like week
eight that they'd still be talking about it.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
I don't. I can't like.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
If they're losing and then he's playing poorly, it'll get messy.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
But I don't like.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
But even still, I don't know if they'd be talking
about remember May twenty seventh.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Someone will be like, that's when the fracture started started?
All right?
Speaker 2 (17:14):
So to the Knicks who the rest of the real question?
When did the fracture start with Mitchell Robinson's pinky? What happened?
Because apparently it wasn't during a game, and it wasn't
during practice. I'm not speculating, I'm confirmed by Mike Brown.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Huh So knicks.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
People do not want it talked about because they cut
off the questions about it.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
So my working theory was perhaps the green light that
surrounds his truck doors had gone out and he didn't
see it and slam just pink in the door.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Interesting, there was a I'm trying to make sure I
got the right injury here. Years ago, I'm talking like
twenty five years ago, the Great Second Basement for the
San Francisco Giants. Jeff Kent broke his wrist, and I
believe it was whilst washing his truck and he fell
or his jeep or something. He slipped off it or
(18:12):
something like that and broke his wrist. But there was
some big, big thing about it. He claimed that he
was washing his truck, that's what it was. But it
was later sustained as a motorcycle crash, apparently performing wheelies
and stunts. This is according to a very generic Google
search by me just now.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
Well, you know, but I do remember that, I remember.
I remember. It wouldn't shock me if a truck was involved.
Speaker 7 (18:36):
Jeff Kent on Survivor do the season of Survivor.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Oh yeah, I don't what I did not know.
Speaker 7 (18:42):
I didn't think he made it very far. But I
watched that season, I was like, oh, what.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
I mean, the guy either broke his wrist either washing
his truck or riding a motorcycle or.
Speaker 5 (18:52):
What.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
I was working for cbssports dot Com. I don't know.
It was twelve years ago or something like that.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
Scott Pollard, former Kings big Man, was on Survivor, and
so I was gonna remember that. I was gonna have
him on every week on the CBS podcast Basketball Podcast
until he was off. And so we're like, all right, cool,
this isn't gonna last that long, just us thinking because
we didn't have any information about it, right, it was
like nine weeks, Like like I was, he was not
interested to talk to me for like eight nine straight weeks.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
I will say I would give Scott Pollard, who is
right in my We just talked about this.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
Actually, it's a nice transition to after we do the update.
This is when I farted fell in love with the NBA.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Was around the time that Scott Pollard was patrolling the
paint for the Sacramento taking Shack right right, just just
draping from Shack's elbows and she was dunking everybody through
the rim.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Yeah, and it kind of put into my head.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
If you're seven feet tall and you wear man buns regularly.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Yeah, you're not to be trifled with, like and that.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
So the idea that like, cause you already like Steven Adams,
Scott Pollard walks, so Steve Adams run.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Sure. Yeah, I don't think Steven Adams a little bit
better than No.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
No, I'll talk about role player you'd be talking about
strictly the look.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
I think that's a kiwi thing right there. I don't
think that has anything to do with Scott Paul. I
think that's just who's gonna tell Steven Adams you can't
shouldn't look like that as an NBA player.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
Fair enough, that's fair enough. I'm with you on that. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
I also, as much anything, he seems like a nice dude.
I wouldn't make him mad. But that's what I was saying.
He's like, yeah, I say, tell him much anything.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
I wouldn't. I talk to him.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
I had a conversation, but Scott i'd be a little
worried about. I think Scott's like way more volatile. And
then Brad Miller, for sure, granted much better player than
Scott Palmer. Oh yeah, but brad Miller wants in the
Timberwolves locker room, said, hey, you're gonna want to check
this out. And he shows me this binder of all
these animals he's killed hunting. And I'm like, Brad, like,
(20:51):
what about our relationship made you think I cared about hunting?
I don't want to look at this. And then he
and then he had a he had a word I
can't say here on air.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
To call me after that? I mean, I get.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
White guy speaking of a former Nick brad Miller. Who
who do you think the Knicks would like to see
in the in the NBA Final, Man, I.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
Do think they match up better with san Antonio, just
in terms of how they would defend the san Antonio
perimeter players with Og with Josh Hart and kill Bridges,
all these dudes. Obviously, Wemby's a problem, but Wemby's a
problem in general. I think against a relatively healthy Thunder team,
there's a big problem getting the ball up the floor, okay,
(21:40):
where they've got like one or two guys to bring
the ball up, whereas san Antonio has got like four
or five guys that can bring the ball up. So
I think there's a little bit of nature. I think
once they're in the half court they can do pretty
well against the thunder. But I kind of think you
might want to go against San Antonio at this point,
so I also think that they would.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
I think the matchup would be better for them, funnily
enough against San Antonio because you outlaid it in the
first segment that we did. And if you wanted to
go back and hear what I'm about to say you've
done with the podcast will go right after we've finished
the show. But you went through the plus minus minutes
with Victor Winbinyama and the impact that they have on
the game, and what plus minus is not the ultimate
(22:18):
predictor right in this almost because he's It's very predictive
in this instance, right. And so the thing I think
the key to guarding Victor Winbinyama is not guarding Victor
Wemyama's making him play defense. And I think that the
Knicks are more equipped to make Wimby run from three
(22:40):
point line to paint on defense, which, in turn, as
you saw in Game one against Minnesota. Again, we only
have a very small sample size of playoff games that
the man is lost, so we can only pull from
so many so many data he got kicked out right
data points.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
But we look at game one.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
I am of the belief that haven't the twelve blocks
impacted his offense, and he as much alluded to it
in his postgame price conference, and so I think that
that's what you're gonna have to do.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
That that's to me, would be my first quote unquote punch.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
If I was playing the Spurs, and I think that
sets up better for the Knicks, I wouldn't want to
play the Thunder for the reasons that you outline.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Just getting a ball.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
It's just too many guys with Dort, with Cason Wallace,
with Caruso, even Shaye, like these guys can just really
defend ninety four feet. Whereas you know the matchup with
the Knicks, I'm not saying, you know, Cat's gonna have
a great series against Wemby, but you cannot play off
of him. He's a forty three point shooter for his
great like Wemby has to honor that way more like
(23:42):
you can be like, well, that's a good shooter. Che's
a freight in the series.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Listen. He's borderline unplayable in this series. Listen.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
I mean it's rough it's bad how there's only so
many times like you know what I actually kind of
felt bad was when Visell got him. It's like, because
there's one thing when you're getting bullied by the big bully, absolutely,
but not a big bully's friend is coming and getting
out the six seven dudes like I don't respect you
at all.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
And he's looking up at you like what you gonna
do about it? You're looking down at him like nothing nothing. Oh,
I thought pram MiB to play for the Knicks. I
was wrong, all right, Maybe either that or AI overview
is wrong. I could see it in my mind's eye.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
You didn't have like a cup of coffee towards the end,
and I finished with Minnesota, we'll square this away and
in the minerum, let's kick it off.
Speaker 8 (24:33):
Just seed to say, I love that you brought up
weird baseball injuries because we could fill a book with
all of them. Ben Maller, for one, on this network
is an encyclopedia of knowing rare, odd baseball injuries.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
My personal favorite, Joelsu Maya Detroit Tiger's close is that
the guitar bar.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
I'm just about to ask, who did guitar are yes.
Speaker 8 (24:55):
About twenty years the Rockies had a guy is gonna
be Rookie of the Year, Clint Barmas a short step
and he had spent time with a teammate at his
ranch after a day game, riding ATVs and stuff, and
they had great deer meat for dinner and everything. Ay,
you like it so much, why didn't you take a
package home? And he had this enormous package of deer
meat he's lugging up to his apartment, fell down the
(25:16):
stairs with it and broke his collar.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Bomb.
Speaker 8 (25:19):
Wow, there's a picture for the Cubs. This year, Matthew
Boyd injured his knee between starts, sitting down at home
to play with his kids. Wound up with meniscus surgery
on the knee.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Tiger Matthew.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
I once got a little hairline fractured in my sternum
by leaning back in a chair to pop my back,
and for some reason it just too much.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
I don't know any more milk or something. I don't know.
Maybe I have osteoporosis.
Speaker 8 (25:47):
There was one guy this year who was throwing the
medicine ball against the wall in the hallway at the
stadium and it bounced off a wall and took the
you know that frame, the vent cover, Yeah, comes off
the wall, and instinctively he swatted it away and cut
his own finger. Miss time. My favorite though, You'd have
(26:07):
to go back a few decades. A guy was dreaming
he was being attacked by spiders and fighting them off,
and I believe out of bed and into a glass
table and injured.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
We sure that wasn't the Glen Allen Hill, Oh, Glen
Allen Hill, for sure. We sure that wasn't the picture.
Who was on acid?
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Right? Yeah?
Speaker 8 (26:28):
Doc ellis ye separate thing. Nice start for the visitors
tonight in Game seven of the NBA's West Final, San
Antonio Is leading them about four minutes left in the
first quarter at Oklahoma City, twenty seven to eighteen, sixty
five percent shooting for the Spurs. Stefan Castle with nine points,
about sixty percent shooting for OKC Shay Gilgis Alexander with
(26:50):
a couple early buckets and three assists. Jalen Williams out
again with the hamstring injury. He only played ten minutes
in the last game after missing the previous three Cuns.
Guard AJ Mitchell missing a fourth straight game with a
string calf case and Wallace started the NBA Finals begin
on Wednesday. It's June third on Wednesday against the Knicks,
(27:10):
who won eleven straight. Their last loss was over a
month ago. Neicks backup center Mitchell Robinson plans to play
next week after surgery for a broken finger in the NHL.
Carolina Hos Vegas in Game one of the Stanley Cup
Final on Tuesday, the Vikings new general managers, reportedly Nolan
Teasley from the Seahawks. Coco Goff lost her third round
(27:31):
match at the French Open in three close sets, but
Naomi Osaka advance. You'll face number one Arena Sabalanca next.
Parasanger Man won the Champions League final on penalty kicks
today against Arsenal. A reminder Indy Cars Detroit Grand Prixs
this weekend tomorrow on Fox TV twelve thirty pm Eastern,
and then the series is off to Illinois the next
week near Saint Louis, Missouri to Major League Baseball in Baltimore.
(27:56):
Five runs, bottom of the ninth Orioles beat Toronto six
to five. White Sox over Detroit seven to one. The
Tigers have lost twenty of twenty four, but White Sox
lagger Munataka Murray Coamo was injured last night. Murakami will
miss four to six weeks with a strain hams during
grade two. This is a guy who has twenty home
runs this year. Pittsburgh at home a ten to nine
winner over Minnesota. Washington nine to four over the Padres
(28:20):
San Diegos. Fernando Tatist Junior did hit his first home
run of the season. Finally, And there's baseball on Fox
TV right now, depending on your region. It's the Braves
up three to two at Cincinnati, top of the fifth.
Ronald Acunya a solo homer. Cubs at Cardinals tied one
to one in the top of the fifth. Among the
late games coming up after ten pm Eastern, the Dodgers,
(28:41):
who've won sixth straight, host Philadelphia. LA outfielder Taascar Hernandez
says he'll miss about a month with a strain hamstring.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
Back to you, thanks Steve for the best pregame show
every weekend.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Be shure to tune in the Fox Sports Radios Countdown
presented by Bett MGM, every Saturday and Sunday morning from
nine am to noon e turn six to nine Pacific.
It will count you down all the biggest games of
the weekend. Tune in the Countdown bet MGM every Saturday
and Sunday morning right here on Fox Sports Radio. Now,
(29:12):
we were just talking about Scott Pollard and Brad Miller
and some of the other guys in the golden era
of the NBA. I'm a big man of big men,
basically the list of guys who filed the hell out
of Shack as he was perusing.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
And dominating the NBA.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
That's about the time that I fell in love with
the game, right. My favorite player growing up was Alan Ivers. Sure, yeah, right,
I'm now grown up. I'm thirty six years old. I
went to the University of Michigan and University of Southern California,
two of the best universities you can find by the
US knows News.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
And World Report rankings.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
All right, I got a thirty two on my ACT
when I was going I'm smart. Yeah, all right, bye bye,
by conventional test.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
I gonna handle on this though, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
I don't understand why it is this hard for me
to understand uh huh that draft lottery reform.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
And if is this hard for.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Me to understand the draft lottery reform, I don't know
how seven year old me was ever supposed to understand
draft lottery reform because I didn't have those things.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
I just listed them.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
I've said this for a very long time of just
all right, you want to eliminate tanking, unweight the lottery.
You missed the playoffs, you got even chance, right one
and fourteen. You want to extend that to the playing tournament.
Cool one and sixteen, Let's do it. I'm good with it.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Right.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
This way to de incentivize losing or to incentivize winning
is if you need more than two sentences to explain
what this system is, I think you've lost the plot.
Like this three to two one system. You've won the
three worst records in the in the league, you get
(30:55):
two lottery balls. If you have four through ten worst
record in the league, you get three lottery balls. If
you were a nine or ten seed in the playing tournament,
you get two lottery balls. If you lost the seven
eight matchup in the player you get one lottery ball.
By the way, you can't get the number one pick
in consecutive years. Now, By the way, you cannot get
(31:18):
a top five pick in three consecutive years. By the way,
the second round is now in inverse order of the
lotteries and as a way to I don't even like
I read the explanation.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
I don't understand it.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
By the way, there's more stuff that there's more rules
here that I haven't even gotten into. Three years, they're
gonna get rid of this thing, by the way, so
that's the good news.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Yeah, they're gonna change it.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
The sunset clause is going to be addressed, slammed shut wait, wait,
wait till you see what they come up with in
three years, because here's the thing. It's gonna be like chaos.
This is like, you know, there's a lot of real
world examples of this, and I don't know anyone.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
I'm trying to think it's one that's not offensive At
the moment, none of them come in your mind.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
But it's like, if you have somebody who is chronically
late to something, this is like telling them.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
You know, find a different route. No, no, no, get up
earlier and leave right like you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Or if you you know, if you don't like the
way you look, the first step is going to be
go to the gym. Do you know what I'm saying?
That's you know, oh it doesn't work. No, I promise you.
You just have to go. You just got to go,
and it keep going. It's gonna take a little bit
of time. Just keep going, Just keep like that's that
is because people are looking for ways to address the
(32:42):
symptoms instead of addressing the disease. We're right here now
watching the Western Conference Finals talking about this uniquely incredible talent,
Victor Wenbinyama. You only get one of those if you
get the first pick in the draft, all right, gotcha?
You only get a Lebron James with the first pick
of the draft. You only get on Michael Jordan. Oh wait,
(33:02):
scratch that, because he was the third pick in the draft.
People make a lot of mistakes when it comes to this.
I'm sick of hearing about people got you gotta tank
to win. You know who hasn't had You know who tanked?
Didn't tank the Indiana Pacers when they were in the finals,
and they did tank this year, and guess what, they
failed miserably.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
They didn't get anything that they were looking to get.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
And that team, when it's all said and done, it's
Tyres Halliburton, provided that he makes a healthy recovery, is
going to be one of the favorites in the Eastern
Conference top four favorite it to be a top four
seed in the East when it all said that, you know,
and they just threw a year away. The idea that
tanking is the only way to improve your team is
(33:45):
so farcical that it's just fun. You know, who didn't
tank The New York Knicks when they traded for Jalen
When they signed Jalen Brunton and traded, they said, we're
definitely not taking We traded five first round picture Mchael
freaking Bridges want. Okay, we don't even want these things.
We don't even want to think about the draft.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
So don't tell me you can't win without tanking. Yeah,
it's just.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
Also sometimes teams like the Kings have been trying for
twenty years and it worked one and a half times.
I watched the Timberwolves try for fifteen years. It didn't work.
Sometimes you're just bad. And the thing about this whole
system now too, Do you know that Memphis got screwed
(34:33):
out of this.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
Do What they did to the Memphis Grazlies is so
much more egregious than anything Lebrin James ever said.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
Do you know the reasoning? Because it's the Jazze's first
round pick.
Speaker 4 (34:43):
But the reason they give why they didn't grandfather this picking, Okay,
tell me why. So this is an actual quote in
a John Hollinger John Hollinger call him about like breaking
down what this system is and why the NBA did
what they did, and he got real quotes with names
of people from the league office, and they said, the
reason they didn't grandfather the Grizzlies pick in or the
Jazz pick for the Grizzlies in is they didn't want it.
(35:06):
They thought it'd be unfair to say that that some
picks are more valuable than others, that's the point of
trading for bad teams picks and say that is the point,
they are inherently more valuable. It's why they didn't trade
Jaron Jackson Junior to the thunder.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
Right, the whole like, and that's what is That's why
I say this is addressing this symptom and not the disease. Yeah,
because ultimately the disease is it is too hard to
make your team better. Yeah, it's just too restrictive to
make your team better. I've also I've never subscribed to
the idea that people like, well, you need to give
(35:43):
the bad teams a better shot at the good town
on the draft. Why why you sink or swim? That's
professional sports. You sink or you swim.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
You have to have a bottom in order to have
a top.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Like in order for there to be excellence, they're hashed
be something for excellence to feed off of, Right, there
has to be people along the way.
Speaker 4 (36:04):
I just don't believe in parody. I don't believe in
trying to make it even for it. Like, No, the
NBA thrives off elitism.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
That is a fact.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
That's what it thrives off of. Oh it's hard to
go get one of those players. It's supposed to be hard.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
And I think we've been in a period of NBA
in the last you know, probably with the decline of Lebron,
people trying to put somebody else in that spot. Right,
And we've seen seven unique champions, and if this game
goes the way it has continued, we will see eight
(36:40):
unique champions in eight years. And it shows to the
part of there aren't that many unique guys that are
changing this.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
Courses of franchises.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
I do think we have one in Victor women Yamu,
who just shot a free throw.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
Mark dagnaugh. I've never seen him.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
You know what, I tell you what he would like
to put these reps in jail? What plays sports court?
Coming up next?
Speaker 1 (37:04):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Eleven minutes left in the first half, San Antonio Spurs,
Oklahoma City Thunder, Victor Roomanyama.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
He's shooting at Oh you no, we didn't. How about this?
Speaker 2 (37:17):
How do you think Harrison Barnes feels Zach Harper when
he's like with these kids in the locker room? Uh
barro y Zach Carper here Fox for Radio.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
HB is such like a calm, relaxed dude, and some
of these dudes are like very intense and energetic young guys.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
Right.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
I bet he's just constantly be like, all right, everyone's
slow down. I just had to want to chill out.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
We got this.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
He's like, castle, smile, It'll be okay, just smile one.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
We got a great job. It's gonna be fun. Let's
play sports court.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
The defense is wrong sports sports court, all right?
Speaker 7 (37:56):
The sports court has been been a while since you
played this one, Zach. Pretty straightforward here. I have a
few people from around the world of sports that we
are accusing here in the sports court, and then you
and Martin the jury. It's your job to tell me
whether they are guilty or innocent of what we were
accusing them of here. So let's start with us. Victor
Wembin Yama stands accused, very fitting as we're watching him
play right now. Earlier this week, the Spurs lost Game
(38:18):
five of the Western Conference Finals to OKC, and Wemby
was pretty underwhelming that game by his usual standards, only
twenty points postgame though only postgame, though, he decided to
skip out on his media obligations, with team officials telling
reporters he was unavailable. So what did you guys make
of that? Wemby guilty or not guilty? Start with Martin.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
I'll go guilty, but I didn't. It's not the biggest
LIVIENC he did that.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
If he had to come out game six like he did,
then I'd have thought it was a bigger deal.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
I don't love it. It can't make it a habit.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
But responding to the next game is bigger than me
than the post game.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
You get one, you get one, he's guilty, but you
get one. After that. You gotta grow up. But like, yeah,
you can't do that.
Speaker 7 (39:03):
Yeah, especially for a guy who's said he wants to
be the face.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
Of the league.
Speaker 7 (39:06):
Yeah, next up, Becky Hammond stands accused. So you guys
may remember that. Back in December of twenty twenty three,
Las Vegas Aces coach Becky Hammond went viral for comments
she made on NBA Today where she said Jalen Brunson
was too small to be the top option on a
championship team. Well after the Knicks made the NBA Finals
earlier this week. She was asked again about those comments,
(39:28):
and she remains dissuaded.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
I said it two years ago. I stand by it.
There's no air to be cleared.
Speaker 2 (39:35):
I said what I said.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
It proves me wrong. He proves me wrong.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
I mean, it's good for him.
Speaker 7 (39:40):
But I do think the two best teams are in
the West. So Becky Hammond still dying on that hill
of Jalen Brunson. Guilty or not guilty, star Zack, I'm
going not guilty.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
Innocent and peple out the dad we made.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
We may get an appeal at some point to this case,
but like they didn't won it yet. I'm oh, Becky
ammon is one hundred percent. You're letting them go again
because not only to the fact that have they not
won the finals yet. Also it ignores the fact that
Karl Anthony Towns being like the primary hub from game
(40:18):
three of Round one of the Easier Conference semi our
first round rather to now is the reason why the
Knicks went from a really good team to a team
that is competing on the playoff front of like the
best of all time, like they have, you know what
I mean, That's really been one of the big differences
in my opinion.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
Yeah, it's been huge.
Speaker 4 (40:37):
They've changed completely how they play with him as the guy,
direct and everything.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
This is what Becky Hammond's point was.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Most of the people who are short enough to be
the best player on the team are never coming off
the ball, right, and then they dominate the ball and
then you have like what it looks like in Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
Yeah, that worked out for Cleveland, right exactly.
Speaker 1 (40:59):
Don't listen Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
Radio Martin White, Zach Carper coming to ELI from the
Fox Sports Radio studios.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
Monci Bolanos.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
With the day off, she'll be back tomorrow and by
that point we'll know who won Game seven of the
Western Conference Finals. The finals matchup will be set. But
right now we shall have some hash to settle. Seven
minutes left in the first half, as Luke Cornett is
shooting a free throw, and I'll say this, Sack Carper.
(41:27):
I appreciate that the Salesian Sisters of San Antonio have
been nuns obviously for a long time and then spurs
fans for quite a long time.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
But probably the.
Speaker 2 (41:39):
Worst possible outcome of the Magic City promotional night was
that that.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
To me felt like the final nail and the confidence
of it.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
And I just want to pour one out theoretically, metaphorically
rather for the greatest promotional night that never existed in
the NBA.
Speaker 3 (41:55):
And I'll never see Luke Cornette and not think about it.
Speaker 4 (41:57):
You have to, you have to, like he was so
an advocate against it, and man, I just want I
just want one of the one of the hoodies.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
I mean just wanted to. I've made a petition on
the radio. Here we have listeners in an I'll say, yeah,
I will pay triple sticker price, triple sticker price if
you go out there and go get it for me.
It never existed, never happened, also might never happen. This
is a back to back Thunder Finals appearance.
Speaker 4 (42:24):
It's looking. It's looking tricky so far. If you're a thunderfan,
They're down eight a little over six minutes left in
the second quarter. Wemby is hooping, uh, Steph Castle is hooping.
Dylan Harper's hooping like this. It's funny, Like you know,
we talked tanking earlier, talk about lucking the draft and everything,
or skilling the draft as well. This was their last
(42:46):
three years, right yep, number one pick Wemby, obviously number
four pick Steph Castle.
Speaker 3 (42:52):
I couldn't look.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
I know some people think, I like, I've got this
thing out for Redshepherd. I could not believe anybody who's
gonna pick Red Shepherd or Reesa's sche over Steph Castle.
I sort of understood the start there, all right, seven
foot dude, you can shoot a little bit, good shot,
blocking instinct. Sure you want to see where that goes
to me? Steph Castle was so clearly the best, like
(43:13):
ready made player who could get better.
Speaker 3 (43:16):
And then Dylan shares your opinion. Yeah, I can't.
Speaker 4 (43:21):
I can't even imagine the frustration he shares your opinion. Look,
Steph wouldn't help them with their the issue shooting the ball,
but man, you can imagine him and I'm in Thompson
the other team scoring sixty points a game. You might
not need this.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
Goodness now watching it because and Steph Castle right now
to your point, zero for two from three. But outside
of that, you know, he's a four to eight from
the floor. So the big thing for him in this
series has been lack of turnovers, and I think that
plays into to your point plus minus isn't the most predictive.
Speaker 3 (43:55):
I think his is because.
Speaker 2 (43:57):
He he's he's the ultimate guy at this point in
his career.
Speaker 3 (44:02):
I'm saying, you'll always be this guy. He's the ultimate guy.
That's like, you are perfectly great at this role.
Speaker 2 (44:09):
And if you are the best suited to expand you know,
the Peter principal. I think I heard somebody say this,
that's why it's in my head. But you're best suited
to do to fill in for the next role. But
you're really you're better. You're so much better of a
guitarist than a bassist. But you're the only one who
knows even to move your fingers like that way. So
you're making a ton of mistakes. But you're better than
(44:30):
to me. But the drummer, right, and the singer has
no idea what he's doing now that Fox has come back,
and Fox has not even been offensively scoring the ball.
Officially he hit a three to day two for four
from the floor so far, but throughout the series his
ability to just handle the ball has then put Steph
(44:51):
Cassell back into his true environment, which is like, I
don't know, like he reminds me of a shark.
Speaker 3 (45:00):
He's hunting all the time.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
Yeah, and then when he does strike, it's like, oh,
he has trampolines in his knees, right, Like how.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
Did he just keep going and going and going and
going and going.
Speaker 4 (45:10):
He's so crazy athletic, like he's he's in that class
where I've said for a while, I think it would
be hilarious if we could just take normal everyday people
in one morning they wake up with John Moran's athleticism. Sure,
they slowly discovered throughout the oh my god, I'm moving different.
This is weird. And then you know, would they be
scared with this new found athletics. I think I think
Steph Castle is in that zone of athletics where it's like, oh.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
A moment and all of a sudden you have to
run for the elevator. You can get there five seconds
before you expect it to.
Speaker 4 (45:41):
Now to your point too about about Fox being back
and what that's done. I mean, first two games of
this series, Fox misses right with the ankle injury, and
people are giving Fox hell for for not being on
the court, not playing everything, but it was it's a
bad ankle injury. Steph Castle twenty turnovers in those two games, right.
Speaker 3 (45:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (45:57):
Since Fox has been back in this I think he's
got what one tonight, he's got seven turnovers and five,
you know, four and a half games.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
It went from untenable to acceptable. Yeah, that's really boiled
because everybody's going to turn the ball over. Nobody's in rights.
That's what they do. Now, speaking of Okase, what is untenable?
Chet is minus twelve, two points and two turnovers. Now
(46:28):
the paraphrase Allen Iverson it's supposed to be the franchise player. Obviously,
SGA is But I think if you polled even the
people in these blue shirts in the arena, which three
would you rather have going forward? Victor Willman Yama, Stephan Castle,
(46:48):
Stefan Castle and uh and UH Dylan Harper or s
g A Jalen Williams all NBA and Ched Holmgren. The
answer is going to be the former in a resounding fashion,
despite the two time MVP.
Speaker 3 (47:03):
He just dunked on everybody.
Speaker 4 (47:05):
It's because one of the guys you mentioned is afraid
of the other guy you mentioned. Like that's been so
clear in this series and for years there, you know,
especially going back to these you know the under eighteen
you know national games from the US. In France, there's
been this thing of like, oh, Chet versus Wemby, Chep
versus Wemby. Sure they're both freakishly tall, similarly skilled, big
(47:27):
men of the same age, but the difference here is Wemby.
It's like that scene in Mad Men where the guys
like I feel bad, He goes, I don't think of
you at all.
Speaker 3 (47:38):
Yep, like Wemby.
Speaker 4 (47:40):
I don't think likes Chet, but I also think he's like,
at no point would he put him as his peer?
Speaker 3 (47:45):
Right? What I think? What it is?
Speaker 2 (47:48):
It reminds me that's a great pull Don Draper in
the elevator. I don't think about you at all. You
are not relevant to me. But it's also like a
cousin of the Last dance Let Bradford Smith type of
thing like check is like, bro, I.
Speaker 3 (48:02):
Don't have like. I want to win, but I don't
want like. And I'm sure that.
Speaker 2 (48:06):
The Bravers Smith wanted to win. Sure you know what
I'm saying. But it's like, dude, like what did I
do to you? It doesn't matter what did I like?
Speaker 3 (48:13):
And it's like, no, he's just you already happened to
be I know what he did.
Speaker 4 (48:17):
He showed up. Well, he showed up for one. But
also this happened preseason of Wemby's rookie year. Wemby bowls
over Check in a preseason game. Dunks Check goes to Twitter. Yeah,
they don't talk about the offensive foul though, it's the
whining that's you got to hoop and you gotta take
your lumps. You got to talk your trash whether you're
(48:38):
up or down right. You can't go whine and tell
the principle, oh he hit me. Well not in the NBA.
We were talking about this off the air. But this
is another thing.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
This is why people from Oklahoma City, of which I
find online, don't know many of them personally, but I
feel like I have a good handle on what the
contingency says and believe it's not that people dislike the
team because they win. That is a true thing that happens, Yeah,
it will. And it's also they also didn't have the
(49:11):
other side where they got too much praise without winning enough. Right,
Like if you go back through just the last eight years,
where a lot of people have been trying to crown
people as next up, well, it's like the Celtics were
next up, next up, and next up Denver, Denver, another,
next up, next up. Okay, see they didn't really hit
(49:31):
that says. They kind of hit the championship and hit
good on the path, in which it's acceptable for the
masses to be like, okay, this is cool, right, and
it's not even the defense is not any of that.
What it is is the inconsistency between playing as tough
(49:53):
as they played defensively and failing offensively to have any
blitz of standing your ground. Right, That's what it is,
and it's not to your point. Lemby probably would have
much more respect for Chet if he had block Chats
Dunk seven times in a game, because he that would
(50:15):
have meant, dude, that check came out him seven times
in a game.
Speaker 4 (50:18):
Said this the other day, I would much rather check
goes one for fifteen in a game seven and a
games at whatever. Rather he just keeps coming and keeps failing.
The John Starks right the NBA Finals, Like what were
he two for seventeen or something like that. I would
rather that from Chet than to forget he's on the court.
Speaker 2 (50:37):
Like make the coach save you from yourself. Yes, you know,
that's that's what I would say. Hell, we just saw
Blemby take a bad shot. He leagally called for a back,
give me the ball back, and he shot missed the
three as okay, see is now mounting comeback.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
Yeah, mid rage is going nuts.
Speaker 2 (50:54):
But that's that's what's fascinating to me about his game,
As he says, eleven points so far with just under
four minutes left in his second order, what he's been
able to be guarded.
Speaker 3 (51:06):
He's been able to be guarded at times in this series,
one on one, with a ton of help.
Speaker 2 (51:12):
And that's why I feel like the like that's where
I pushed back on the like when you're looking at
I don't know if he's better than Luca or Luca's
better than him.
Speaker 3 (51:23):
I don't know if he's better than Wenby.
Speaker 2 (51:24):
But it's like I have trouble watching guys who are
supposed to be dominant being able to be guarded one
on one.
Speaker 3 (51:31):
Who do you know what I'm saying? Whoa whoa.
Speaker 4 (51:33):
Steph Castle has got taken down and it looked like
he kind of punched it Alex Crusoe's foot hold on
a second week see this replay, We'll go to the
monitors as it looks like and then Dylan Harper tackled
Steph Castle to keep him on the ground.
Speaker 2 (51:47):
Three h nine left in the second quarter. It'll be
all over social media soon. Then it's is tapping into
a OKAC run. I'm not sure what the numbers have been,
but again, SGA's got eleven straight so far as Castle
goes up for a dunk, hard foul here Pyrusha.
Speaker 3 (52:04):
Oh, he pushed, He pushed in and punched My bad
and Dylan Harper in the moment Man, we talked about
this off the air.
Speaker 2 (52:11):
Dylan Harper is I would watch a reality TV show
about Dylan Harper on the court because that guy is
super locked in okay, and he's got the funniest he's
got the funniest way about him. And this is something
that only happens really when you're watching these replays four
or five, it's like they're a lose now.
Speaker 3 (52:30):
Like the skeletons in the Olympics.
Speaker 2 (52:32):
It's really giving cool Runnings. Look the dreads as well. Okay,
it's really given that. I think ultimately this is gonna
be probably nothing here, man, But but I think in
terms of out of the game and stuff like, oh yeah,
not so much. There was a little extra mustard on Caruso,
kind of throwing him from the ground.
Speaker 4 (52:53):
Something horrifically bad. He kicked down in the game seven
or should have to to me, reacted a little reaction,
but it was I think this is I mean, it's
a hard foul, it's a flagrant one.
Speaker 2 (53:04):
But the easiestly the takeaway that I have from this
moment is Dylan Harper is the most aware and funny
NBA player that we have in playing high leverage moments.
Because the way y'all will see it in a moment,
we'll tweet it out from the Fox for Radio account.
Harper runs down, okay, and basically Castle's on the ground.
(53:29):
Harper runs down, gets into like we talked about, the
cool Runnings lose positions, and.
Speaker 3 (53:34):
Is holding Castle down on the ground.
Speaker 2 (53:38):
And as he's doing it has the biggest Ronald McDonald's
smile on his face because he knows how ridiculous this looks.
And he's loving because he knows. Like's if he's ever
he's hoping somebody asks him about it.
Speaker 3 (53:50):
He like, he is so aware he's on TV at
all time.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
That's exactly like, he's in the office.
Speaker 3 (53:57):
That's exactly right. He's gym from the office. That's the
exactly right.
Speaker 2 (54:01):
Yes, that's exactly right, Dylan Harper, Jim Halpert, Yes, that's
exactly right. He is jipped from the office and it's
just always his time perfectly and shout out to the
directors of these games.
Speaker 4 (54:13):
But let's keep a camera on too at all time. Yeah,
we gotta give him on there.
Speaker 7 (54:18):
You guys, remember the shot of him after Wemby elbowed,
just the camera just went right to Dylan Harper's mouth agape, and.
Speaker 3 (54:25):
It's like in that moment he said, oh man, he's gone.
Speaker 2 (54:29):
It's like Dylan Harper was like, I knew you got ejective, buddy.
I knew it as soon as you did it. I
knew it as soon as pick it up to thirteen
points on the quarter. The back to back MVP not
going out without a fight so far, Okay, she has
stormed back in the second quarter. Coming up next, we'll
get into a little June first quickly approaching, and there
(54:52):
has been a story that is seemingly cannot wait to
break on June first. We probably if all the insiders are, yeah,
we should all wake up to this notification, especially us
here on the West coast. But I expect to see
it like twelve oh one, like when the Lakers signed
Mosco off to that to that contract right then and there.
All right, That's what I expect to see this June
(55:14):
first move happening. More on that and the Western converage
finals all tied up here on Fox Sports Radio with
Martin Weis, Zach Harper, Martin Weiss, Zach Harper, Manse Bellanos
with the Day Off coming to you live from the
Fox Sports Radio studios.
Speaker 3 (55:32):
I tell you what.
Speaker 2 (55:35):
There have been complaints about Shake Gildish Alexandrew Zach Harper
saying that you know he is want to fall on
the ground easily when contacted, Yeah, saying that his uh something,
maybe his MVP a little discredited.
Speaker 3 (55:53):
He doesn't have any even like what's his heisman moment?
Speaker 2 (55:56):
So to speak right, like we can point back at
some of these guys as I mixed metaphors, but some
of these guys who have these big like Victor Weminyama.
Speaker 3 (56:04):
Game one of this series.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
Is a moment that will be remembered in the telling
of his story. Of the telling of his career, Shay Gills,
Alexander has been accused of having many.
Speaker 3 (56:15):
Many of those. I'm here to tell you we might
have just witnessed the first.
Speaker 4 (56:20):
All right, he started cooking these dudes like like he
runs a food truck.
Speaker 3 (56:27):
Like it was.
Speaker 4 (56:27):
Everything was quick, everything was efficient, everything was out in
the time it needed to be.
Speaker 2 (56:31):
It was very very And one of the complaints that
I had about SGA in this series was I felt
that for a guy to be this good, he's having
these being guarded one on one too much and the
defense is setting up all ten eyes are looking at him.
To your point, in this stretch down the court, I'm
(56:52):
not playing around. I'm messing around my spot. I'm three
dribbles across half court. I'm in attack mode. I'm not
setting up. I'm not waiting for look, I see chests
not coming with me anyway. I'm not waiting for you
stay in the corner like you don't know, this has
grown up business. You stay over there, and so we'll
see how it all plays out. Okay, see did have
(57:12):
as good as that quarter was by XGA. You did
have a little bit of a flurry, a little bit
of a punch back from San Antonio to wrap that
thing up. Now at the half looking at Tracy McGrady
and joining the country music halftime show. It's being played
at Frost Bank Center now, June first coming up, which means,
(57:36):
if I'm to believe all those blue check guys out
there on Twitter, the NFL insiders, the real ones that
AJ Brown, even the fake ones, because everybody's got this
by this point, that's true that AJ Brown will be
walking up one Patriots Drive at about twelve oh five
June first, because that's when the trade will happen. Because
this trade has been a handshake deal and done for
(57:58):
for forever now, a lot of ink has been building,
words said about whether we think this is a good
move or not.
Speaker 4 (58:06):
So on the eve of it, do you think it's
a good move or not. I think it's a good
regular season move, Okay, i'd I. We haven't seen a
ton out of Aj the last couple of postseasons, and
so I don't know what that is. Don't is that injury,
is that focus? Is that the defense took him away
and everyone else ate and he was fine with it,
(58:26):
except he was kind of like reading a book of
times and that seemed to be very confusing. Like I
think AJ Brown is still like when he's healthy and
he's locked into his system, he's one of the best
receivers in football. Like, I mean, he's such an impossible matchup,
but he's got to be on the field and he's
got to be locked in. And you know, we had
a solid season last year, but postseason came.
Speaker 3 (58:48):
Where was he right? Even the championship two years ago? Like,
sure he didn't.
Speaker 2 (58:53):
Have like he had twelve receptions in four games, had
a couple of touchdowns, So that's good, but like, this
is a dude should be getting heavily targeted. I agree
with that one hundred percent. He should be getting heavily targeted.
And I do think that part of the issue comes
from the lack of relative targets when he feels like
he's open.
Speaker 3 (59:12):
But I would say this, this is what I found.
Speaker 2 (59:15):
Maddening to me, and it's honestly, probably the reason why
there's a collusion lawsuit with Lamar Jackson and the guaranteed contracts.
How is it that this is just a handshake deals New
England for a guy who I mean, you ran off
his playoff stats, but at the best where he's at,
he's one of the best players at the on the
outside in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (59:34):
Right, If.
Speaker 2 (59:37):
I'm gonna say some things that may sound inflammatory that
are one hundred percent true, the Kansas City Chiefs wide
receiver one is currently rehabbing knee surgery in jail.
Speaker 3 (59:48):
That's that's typically not where you want to rehab knee surgery.
Speaker 2 (59:52):
And the point has been made that it may have
been better if he had been in state prison because
the FACI would have been better as opposed to being
in county jail. And I don't know what that means
for the future of Rashi Rice's career. Potentially this is
the last time he ever gets in any type of truck.
(01:00:12):
But I know this, I don't think that, like, for example,
when Michael Vick was in jail, if he had to
do knee rehab while in jail, I would have questioned
his ability to come back into the NFL and play
at the highest level.
Speaker 3 (01:00:29):
Rashi Rice has had some.
Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
Bad luck on the field and a lot of self
imposed bad stuff off the field. And if I'm Kansas
City my quarterback, he's got a three fourths of ACL
and one knee and a full one in the other
and it's working like hell to get back week one.
Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
Yeah, don't I owe it to him to try to
get aj Brown.
Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
There's almost in Kansas City there seems to be like
once they were like, all right, we're out of the
Tyreek Hill business. Right Like, we're like we're going to
do this other thing. We're gonna put our money elsewhere.
It almost seems like this perverse masochistic like we know,
like we believe Patrick Mahomes is the greatest quarterback ever,
right Like, if you're Kansas City, like we he's taken
(01:01:11):
us to all these heights and everything, Let's just see
how little we can give him to see what he
can do with it. Right It's like, uh, it's very
like Tom Brady didn't have a great receivers for most
of his run, right like, and in the time he
had Randy Moss, they didn't win it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:25):
Like it's it's almost the thing of like, I wonder
if we could recreate that.
Speaker 2 (01:01:29):
You know, it's a mean right, It's like God gives
his toughest battles to the strongest soldiers, and then the
guy over there is like, what, just stop, I'm not
that strong. Like I'm not that strong, you know what.
I'm like it to be easier. I am tired.
Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:01:45):
I'm a friend who went to Duke and he is
a massive Duke basketball faner. We were arguing last year
when you know it was Cooper Flag, Confinipple, those guys whatever,
and he was like he had said something about like, oh,
he would have liked to eat. I'm like, no, don't
you want them to go through and like you'll beat
the best and everything like I would want them to
be go No, I want them to win the championship
like I want them to.
Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
Have the easiest path forward on. All right, fair enough,
let me tell you something. As a Michigan fan who
was watching that National.
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
Title one, I was like, oh, what do you mean
Dan Hurley's over there?
Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
They sucked all year and I got Dan Hurley and
Marth are you kidding me? Where's Florida Atlantic? You know
what I'm saying? Right, where's Florida golf coach? Give me
George Mason Unia, Yeah, yeah, No. Where's Loyola Chicago?
Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
Yeah, I gotta play uct Alex Caravan, He's got played
five final fours.
Speaker 3 (01:02:36):
It's ridiculous. Coming up next?
Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
All right, is the twitch stream Heart round in the world.
What impact would it have in Beantown. We'll get to
that in just a second, but first, teed the Sager.
Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
You're up, Bud.
Speaker 8 (01:02:50):
They are at halftime of Game seven of the NBA's
West Finals at defending champ Oklahoma City. Spurs lead the
thunder fifty six fifty three forty nine percent shooting for
the visitors forty eight now for OKC, led by Shay
Gilgis Alexander who had nineteen points in the first half.
Jared McCain with ten off the bench, Caseon Wallace started
(01:03:11):
three points. Aj Mitchell guard out for a fourth straight game,
and normal starter Jalen Williams out again with the hamstring injury.
The team says he's not necessarily out for a finals
if they make it that far. He did just play
ten minutes last game Game six. The NBA Finals begin
on Wednesday against the Knicks, who won eleventh straight. In
the WNBA, Connecticut was one and eight, but got a
(01:03:34):
home win against the La Sparks eighty four eighty one.
In the NHL, the Stanley Cup Final starts Tuesday, Carolina
host Vegas. The Hurricanes just eliminated Montreal. Vegas swept Colorado
in a shaker. The Minnesota Vikings new general managers reportedly
Nolan Teasley from the Seahawks, where he worked for thirteen years.
Minnesota fired GM Queziadolfo Menza four months ago, but did
(01:03:57):
not search for a replacement until after the draft. A
reminder of the UFL Spring football regular season and Sunday
on Fox TV, Louisville at Columbus. Cocoa Golf lost her
third round match at the French Open in three close sets.
Naomi Osaka did advance. Parassanger Man won the Champions League
final on penalty kicks against Arsenal. USA Soccer named Tim Reim,
(01:04:19):
veteran defender, as team captain for the upcoming World Cup.
MLS is on break for that tournament. US men's soccer
tomorrow plays an exhibition in Charlotte against Senegal, but defender
Chris Richards is out with an ankle injury. Mexico as
an exhibition at the Rose Bowl tonight against Australia, which
will be one of the US opponents next month. A
(01:04:39):
reminder Indy Cards Detroit Grand Prix is Sunday on Fox
TV twelve thirty pm Eastern Time. There is baseball on
Fox right now. Top of the ninth Braves leading four
to two at Cincinnati and top of the eighth inning.
The Cubs are up three to one at Saint Louis. Earlier,
Baltimore scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth
edge Toronto six to five. The White Sox were seven
(01:05:01):
to one winners over Detroit, but Chicago slugger Munataka Murakami
will miss four to six weeks with a strained hamster
in grade two. The man has twenty homers already this year.
Kansas City third baseman MIKEL. Garcia left today's loss with
a strained hamster in case he's lost five in a row.
They dropped a seven to six decision at Texas Washington
(01:05:22):
over the Padres nine to four, but Fernando Tatis Junior
hit his first homer of the year. Wins at home
for Houston and the Mets, and among the Lake games,
coming up in a half an hour. The Yankees have
won five straight play at the A's Dodgers, who've won
six in a row, will host Philadelphia Back to.
Speaker 3 (01:05:38):
You Thanks Steve Martin.
Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
Wie Zach Harper infromis of Alaios today about halfway through
thereon Torres, Jason Martin will be filling in. Ian coming
in for us after that. But with the Arheartradio app,
you can stream us wherever you happen to be. That's
wherever he happened to be. By the way, I was
in Europe and heard I believe it was the Jason
Smith O with Mike Harran at three o'clock in the
(01:06:01):
afternoon in France.
Speaker 4 (01:06:04):
This the time changed a little different, a little bragg
there By the way I was, I was in Europe.
Was I was in France? Just you know whatever, just
like flex, Yeah, it's not bad. Oh, I was out there, you.
Speaker 3 (01:06:14):
Know, I was counting for the next webby. He's got
a brother who's like six'. Nine, really how old is? He,
uh seventeen is eighteen?
Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
Ish everybody, said you've never seen anything like, this psych you.
Speaker 3 (01:06:27):
Might say another, one all, right so uh let's go
to the. Living the mortals not the aliens for The Jalen.
Speaker 2 (01:06:38):
Brown When Jalen brown came out and said that this
was his favorite year, EVER i SO i, WALKED i
walked two lines WHEN i come with this as as
somebody who.
Speaker 3 (01:06:54):
Like me And James hardener about a week in age. Apart,
okay so, LIKE.
Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
I very much feel LIKE i am of that Generation
Jaylen brown a few years, younger but still like kind
of like of THE nba social.
Speaker 3 (01:07:06):
Generations LIKE i understand Why Kevin durant has a. Burner
you know What i'm, SAYING i don't have the energy for, it,
RIGHT i.
Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
Understand So Like i'm not A twitch, streamer BUT i
understand why people are On. TWITCH i understand When Dalen
brown said this was my favorite, SEASON i completely understood
what he. Meant AND i also completely understood why this
may be the last one you ever play In. Boston,
okay LIKE i.
Speaker 3 (01:07:29):
Go because here's the.
Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
Thing it was shocking to, Me, zach shocking to me
As i'm watching the talking heads who cover this business
right yourself, included all.
Speaker 3 (01:07:44):
These guys geniuses who Were celtics are second seed in The.
East they're they're rolling.
Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
There this is a real team To look at second
Row joe Now coach of The, year, like you, know
look at What Jalen brown is, Doing First Team ALL
nba potentially, RIGHT mvp, candidate right like All and it's.
Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
Just from game two To game eighty. Two yeah, Right.
Speaker 2 (01:08:12):
I'm SORRY i scratched that From game two to game
sixty two because When Jason tatum came, back all of
that was. Over, yeah it. Was, Oh Jason tatum is.
Back now The celtics team can win a. Championship. YEAH
i never thought they could win a. CHAMPIONSHIP i thought
the finals.
Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
That was the failing. Discourse, no like they.
Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
Were it was like the ceiling on their potential championship
had been lifted Because Jason, tatum who had just suffered
then achilles entries in the playoff last, year was now.
Speaker 3 (01:08:42):
Back yeah, RIGHT i.
Speaker 2 (01:08:43):
SAID i thought it was gonna have an issue with
some of the, chemistry in part because when you had
the guy who'd been the third overall pick in the
draft just the year prior To tatum coming, IN i
imagine that guy has a certain way that he feels about, himself,
absolutely AND i imagine that that also wants to. Win
But i'm saying there's a certain level OF i am very,
(01:09:05):
talented my damn. Self and we've seen this story in
THE nba time and time. Again you see it in
musical acts time and time. Again, eventually sometimes the lead
singer gets strapped throat and the backup singer starts to
sing and, said wait a, MINUTE i can have my
own damn. Band pretty, good, Right and that's Essentially James
harden goes to The olympics and all of a, sudden
now he's getting MVPs In houston instead of playing being
(01:09:28):
the sixth man AND okc because it's, like, dude you're
good enough for your own.
Speaker 3 (01:09:32):
Team, Yeah Jalen.
Speaker 2 (01:09:33):
Brown by, hooker by, crook for better or for? Worse
how if you feel hat that felt that way and
then got vindication in the first sixty or so games
of this. Season, yeah and Then james head it comes
back and it's all you know in the eyes of
the media taken.
Speaker 3 (01:09:48):
Away.
Speaker 4 (01:09:48):
Yeah there's two things that reminds me of one like
to your, point uh your first LIKE i remember When
kyrie got himself traded To? Boston, yes, Yes like what
like why we did you Leave Lebron at one he
Knew lebron was leaving the next. Year but also think
about how Good Kyrie irving is at basketball right? Now,
(01:10:08):
yes you want to talk about the, Distractions, okay, Fine
i'm just talking about the game of basket prospect coming
out number one overall pick played eleven game in eleven,
Games michigan out of.
Speaker 3 (01:10:17):
The tournament on the way he won at. Twelve he sure.
Speaker 4 (01:10:20):
Did and like you Think wemby is just, absurd he
just dunked on. Somebody, Uh but you think about how
talented he, is like one, of like one of the
ten most talented players we've ever seen with, basketball, Right,
like hell, yeah he wants his own, team your Favorite
hooper's favorite who? Exactly of course he wanted his own.
Team that's what it should. Be, then like the Whole
(01:10:43):
tatum coming back and what that meant For Jaylen. Brown
granted not the same, dynamic BUT i remember the two
thousand and, three two thousand and Four Sacramento kings. Season
Chris webber the previous, playoffs tears his knee up Against,
dallas so he's out for a good chunk of the next.
Season WHEN i tell you like, This paisastoyakovic was on
(01:11:03):
track to be the runner up IN mvp Behind Kevin.
Garnett pajatoyakovic was having an unbelievable, season scoring the ball
That king's team was. Rolling and Then weber came back in,
LIKE i don't, Know February march somewhere around that, Time,
yeah dragging.
Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
That leg because of course he. Was this is back.
Speaker 4 (01:11:21):
Before this was back when you just like poked a
bunch of holes in a knee and, said hopefully that gets,
better LIKE i don't, KNOW i hopefully that, works and
and it ruined. It it disrupted everything they had, going
and it Disrupted paigea's. Flow and then, eventually like you
have a guy who's you, know backing good but not.
Himself And tatum was back and, good but he was
(01:11:42):
not himself as well as he played at times he
had those. Lulls of course he. Did he was coming
back From achilles injury less than a.
Speaker 3 (01:11:48):
Year and you can't.
Speaker 2 (01:11:49):
Tell, him, LIKE i don't, KNOW i don't know how
you tell him you can't? Play, no do you know
What i'm? SAYING i don't, like, sorry we don't need. You,
yeah LIKE i it's it's a.
Speaker 4 (01:11:59):
Cat and if this team was, bad right or they
were like an eight seed or something like. That then,
yeah like you probably can't be, like Hey, jason we're
gonna slow roll this and we'll see where he. Goes
but they were, great they were killing and you had
to put him.
Speaker 3 (01:12:15):
In you just had. To and so SO i.
Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
Don't you, know maybe If Joe mizula had better people,
skills maybe this is a different.
Speaker 3 (01:12:24):
Conversation AND i don't EVEN i don't fault him for.
IT i don't FAULT i.
Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
Wouldn't this is an impossible situation because you have two.
Speaker 3 (01:12:33):
Top line out like.
Speaker 9 (01:12:35):
This would the equivalency to this would be like IF
sga Was Jalen williams AND sga was hurt And dub
was the guy hitting mid range over mid, range over mid,
range as he's bringing this team along the way to
the one.
Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
Or two, seed and then the guy who was used
to be the lead, singer you guy used to be
the you, know then he comes back and now it's
a Sex, ugh wait a, MINUTE i.
Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
DON'T i don't want to be robbing.
Speaker 2 (01:13:02):
Anymore got them has been just fine while you were on, vacation,
BUDDY i WAS i was beating up you, know drug.
Speaker 4 (01:13:09):
Dealers, YEAH i was getting them, all taking care of
all these petty. Criminals one THING i would, Advise i'm
never never a shut up and dribble. GUY i would
advise less twitch and maybe just like chill a little.
Speaker 3 (01:13:25):
Bit, well here's the, thing And i'll say this to.
Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
That it's not about shut up and dribble because that
was very much a lack that's coded in a way
that has really nothing to do with. Basketball this is
about team. Stability But Jalen, brown AND i think the
guy was just talking About Jay dubb could really use
(01:13:52):
Some are we in all?
Speaker 3 (01:13:53):
This are we all in this? Together are? We we
just got to make? Sure are? We we just want
to make sure?
Speaker 2 (01:13:59):
Together BECAUSE i like and then because AND i Will
and the point That i'll make to this to your
point shut up and, Dribble, no, Sir i'm not. There,
yeah you want to say what you, Do you want
to say what you. Will, hell people got mad at
me BECAUSE i, Said jackson, darker say what you know
very much to.
Speaker 3 (01:14:16):
Say all right, Now.
Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
Historically in these, leagues there has been postgame press, conferences
there has been. Sources Jayalen brown if he needs to
get his opinion, OUT i Know Gary washburn would answer
on the first. Rate and that's just one of several
(01:14:42):
dedicated members of The boston.
Speaker 4 (01:14:43):
Media covering The boston media member maybe not on radio
but in, print but absolutely.
Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
Maybe not the.
Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
Radio maybe d don't About boston, radio but, Yes and
to the point When Jalen brown, says this is my
favorite season, ever instead of saying you think, so, Chat
Gary washport or one of his contemporaries would have, said, really,
yeah and then you write the second quote and then
(01:15:14):
this never, happened, Right.
Speaker 3 (01:15:17):
But let's all do it, live Like bill O'Reilly, said
they'll do it, live and you see how it worked
out for.
Speaker 4 (01:15:21):
Her it's good for us content, wise, hey but sometimes we.
Don't you don't need to provide as much. Content that
would be my. Advice you know, What, Yeah i'm gonna
go out on a.
Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
LIMB i don't Think jerry McCain posts the first TikTok he.
DOES i think he probably posts a few, absolutely you
know WHAT i, saying probably goes through a few a
few different, chants a few DIFFERENT i didn't like. That
WHEN i gotta get this, Better i'll do. It it's
rare you publish a first draft.
Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
Exactly and when you're doing it live as we are
currently doing live right, now and you see how this turned. Out,
anyway coming up to actual play a game of who You?
Got martin Weit Zach, Carper Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (01:15:56):
Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:15:58):
Martin Wit Zach carper here Five Sports, radio five point
game six thirty left in the third.
Speaker 3 (01:16:04):
Quarter As Alex caruso smokes a.
Speaker 2 (01:16:09):
LAYOUP i was watching The Dallas wings pregame walking.
Speaker 3 (01:16:14):
Video, yeah as what's your favorite?
Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
Nickname and one of the bench players said that her
favorite nickname Was smoke Because Alyssa thomas gave it to
what she smoked the. Layo now everybody calls her smoke
and he doesn't.
Speaker 3 (01:16:27):
Get off the he does to get up off the.
Speaker 2 (01:16:28):
Bench two Buch, SO i can't remember her name at the,
time but if that's the answer for who you, got
then we're gonna be in.
Speaker 3 (01:16:34):
Trouble let's go ahead and play a game of who You?
Speaker 1 (01:16:36):
Got it's not rocket, side who are?
Speaker 6 (01:16:38):
You we just want to?
Speaker 7 (01:16:40):
Know just ask the, questions who are who you?
Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
Got all? Right who you?
Speaker 7 (01:16:44):
Got little press for time, here it's essentially a game
of who AM i thinking? Of AN nfl player here
gonna give you, guys. Clues each one hopefully makes it
a little easier to try and guess who it. Is
no strikes or, anything or just throw out guesses as they.
Come let's start. Here this player was drafted within the
past five.
Speaker 3 (01:17:00):
Years uh Cam ward not Cam.
Speaker 7 (01:17:06):
Ward, Oh Jackson dart Not Jackson dart. Either next, clue
he's made One Pro bowl so far in his.
Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
Career Chadure sanders.
Speaker 7 (01:17:17):
Not, chaudor although he has made A Pro.
Speaker 6 (01:17:19):
Bowl.
Speaker 7 (01:17:20):
Uh Abdul carter Backer Pro. Bowl, no it's Not Abdul.
CARTER i don't think he made it last year as a.
Rookie next, clue he was a third round draft pick
out of.
Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
College third round draft pick drafted the last five. Years
One Pro. Bowl trent Makeeff it was a first round.
Pick who's the guy opposite? Him george carl loftis.
Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
Not George carl. LOFTIS i can't think of one third
round pick right. Now, no where he's can? Go next.
Speaker 7 (01:17:46):
Clue he made his First Pro bowl last, Season so
he's only made One Pro bowl and it was last.
Season SO i Guess chaudor still still.
Speaker 3 (01:17:55):
Still on the. Board, uh his third round. Pick he's
let's throwing me.
Speaker 2 (01:17:59):
Off, yeah because, best because you've given no anything. ELSE
i don't know if he, RUSHES i don't know if he.
CATCHES i don't know if he's. Defense, clue we can
go another. Class, yeah give me one, more all.
Speaker 7 (01:18:08):
Right he played college football At TEXAS a AND.
Speaker 3 (01:18:11):
M that helps so. Much. Texas oh, ah you know
One Pro bowl though it's not going to be a.
Chair it's.
Speaker 7 (01:18:20):
DEVANT h, said get your. Sarcastic oh that helps so.
Much and you got it off that. Clue nice, job all? Right,
yes the other clues were He in addition to, football
he also ran track in College texas and also, yeah also.
Speaker 3 (01:18:35):
Crack he has.
Speaker 7 (01:18:37):
Twice he has twice led THE nfl in yards per.
Carry he recently signed a contract making him the highest
paid player in THE nfl at his. Position he plays
in THE Afc, East and the last clue would have
been he plays for The. Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (01:18:49):
Yeah, who he's a.
Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
Monster i'll be, honest if off the top of my,
head AND i pride myself in knowing this type of.
Stuff players From TEXAS a AND, M Devin, Chan Mike,
evans and that's about.
Speaker 7 (01:19:07):
IT i don't ex he reminds.
Speaker 3 (01:19:13):
ME h reminds. Me of WHO i always and obviously
similar systems.
Speaker 4 (01:19:17):
And everything with McDaniel coming from from Shan hit like it,
was it was like that was WHO i always wanted
Raheem moster to be right like, ONE i guess, healthy
but two like like where he would like go for
these like big big spurts and.
Speaker 3 (01:19:29):
Everything i'm, like, hell, yeah, man we got. Another and
then it was just, yeah get.
Speaker 7 (01:19:33):
Hurt do you guys think A chan was worth the
contract he GOT.
Speaker 2 (01:19:37):
I for a team like, that, yeah because we Got
we're out of The dolphins are out of.
Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
Place we just have to have some.
Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
Talent like how many of our players when we line
up all eleven, offense, defense special teams would be starters
on the other.
Speaker 3 (01:19:56):
Team how much dead money do they have TO i
think it's one hundred and.
Speaker 4 (01:20:01):
Ten, Yeah LIKE i mean it's the, yeah like they've
got so much dead, money you need some live.
Speaker 7 (01:20:06):
MONEY i think The cardinals might have a lot as
well because of The Kyler.
Speaker 3 (01:20:08):
Murray that's really live. MONEY i like.
Speaker 7 (01:20:10):
That BUT i Mean i'm just asking because because A
chan it feels like like he's kind of, small he's really,
fast and how much of it Was mike McDaniel just
being an elite run game.
Speaker 2 (01:20:19):
Coordinator, NOW i do think that McDaniel can draw it
up with like top five guys drawing it up in
terms of especially on the run side of.
Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
Things BUT i just think he's so, explosive.
Speaker 4 (01:20:29):
Dude, yeah he that that burst is just, Special like
he gets if he ever turns the, corner hit hits
the whole like kind of going towards the, outside it's.
Over like you just you. Can't you have to stop
him before that and think about the speed with him
And willis in the. Backfield, Yeah AND i, mean don't
get me, wrong it.
Speaker 3 (01:20:46):
Taks gonna be. Terrible they're gonna be competing for the
worst team in THE. Nfl you just need to give
some fans some. Moments but we'll.
Speaker 2 (01:20:52):
See him on red zone When Malik willis his that
fifty yard run eighth and is the sixty yard in
it down thirty four to.
Speaker 3 (01:20:58):
Fourteen you know what's same seven coming up.
Speaker 1 (01:21:01):
Next you're listening To Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:21:05):
Radio that's the on button as we broadcast live From
Fox Sports. Radio I'm martin Weissjoin it Was zach Harper
Mont's belos with the day, Off she'll be back, tomorrow
she'll be. IN i think it's eight twe eleven eastern
with carrier. Roads i'm sure it's carry. Roads i'm sure
of the. Time but if you, know if you just
keep your radio all the whole, time you here three
minutes left in the third, quarter and, Uh, ZACH i would,
(01:21:29):
say the first quarter came out in this game and
you had San, ANTONIO i would say it was more
so even in that oh my, goodness all, right more
so even in the first. Quarter as you, listen it's
fitting that your chair just fell like. That, yeah because
shake gildess ALEXAND i want to be in solidarity WITH.
(01:21:51):
SGA i want to feel like AN. Mvp so first
quarter back and, FORTH i think spurs came out and then,
okay see kind of balanced it. Out second quarter felt
almost all THUNDER sga with about thirteen maybe fifteen points
in the. Quarter and as as the tweeters would call
(01:22:12):
it an ethnical fifteen, whatever no no free, throws yeah,
no but not just free. Throws but it's, now it's very.
Much he Was we talked about it in a different.
Way he was getting down and earning it. In he
was coming, down establishing early offense wasn't letting the defense get,
set but it wasn't quite fast. Break then you see
third quarter and it's just The spurs have done this
(01:22:34):
to teams all, postseason where they'll come out and a
lot of times in the third, quarter all of a,
sudden you look up and it's been a seventeen to two. Run,
yeah and that's where in the middle of Now sga
at the free throw line after.
Speaker 3 (01:22:49):
And you, KNOW i don't like, It.
Speaker 4 (01:22:51):
Sat it's it's interesting to me when the most balanced
players in the world all of a sudden lose their,
balance you, know like yo, kids right as strong as
it gets. It then sometimes he'll get touched and he
goes flying like, REALLY i don't know that dude was that.
Strong go make this guy flying like?
Speaker 2 (01:23:07):
That and and that is the ultimately the point THAT
i think when people go back and watch and.
Speaker 3 (01:23:14):
Be, like man back in my, day you, Know.
Speaker 2 (01:23:16):
I'm sitting there Watching carmelo And kobe just bang in the.
Post there was an understanding at least it seemed as
The spurs take four bad shots in a. Row, yeah
but there's and four bad shots to row off three
offensive rebounds.
Speaker 4 (01:23:34):
And then and then and then committed a foul on
a fourth offensive rebound to lose the.
Speaker 3 (01:23:38):
Possession, yeah but as we.
Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
Watch The spurs show their youth a bit in this,
moment we have seen them come and really have those
big long. Runs BUT i think that's why it's so
important that and it's it's it's his third, year first,
postseason third ever, postseason first Ever game. Seven that's Why
wimby can't beat the one take making.
Speaker 3 (01:24:00):
Some of these bat. Shots, yeah you know What i'm.
Speaker 2 (01:24:02):
Saying he's gotta be the one that's able to be,
like they're gonna take the message from, you, right and
you're able to do way more than a lot of
other people can. Do but it's not Like Steph, curry
where like everybody knew they couldn't shoot three from back,
there and that was Only Steph, lane. Right the only
person new didn't Was Jordan, Poole, right.
Speaker 6 (01:24:22):
You know What i'm.
Speaker 2 (01:24:22):
Saying but everybody else knew that Was steph Land. Right
the thunder The spurs is so egotarians style of. PLAY
i Think wenby could do a little bit better job
or the coach to whoever you could do a better
job of been forcing that on a possession by possession,
basis And i'd rather talk about that than the flopping
THE sga is.
Speaker 4 (01:24:39):
Doing, YEAH i MEAN i think AND i think part
of that you're seeing the youth right like this is
youth from The Thunder they made a run they you know,
what seventeen to two run or something like. That and okay,
see is that crossover From Darren fox was so. Nasty
Okay see is making a run back and kind of
using some of. That and there's such a eight defensive
(01:25:00):
team that, yeah you. Can you can force a little
panic once you get a couple of stops and a
couple of buckets into taking four bad shots in a,
possession right like you. Can you can kind of trick
your opponent into doing. That it's what Okay see is
so good. At the thing that bothers me about the
flopping is because you always have to have someone go
(01:25:21):
against what everyone's seeing and. Saying there's then the, well
he actually doesn't fall or flop that. Much it is
like he. Does he, does.
Speaker 3 (01:25:28):
It's not the only thing that makes him.
Speaker 4 (01:25:30):
Great and ALSO i blame the rules and the officiating
rather THAN i blame the. Player you're gonna take advantage
of whatever you. CAN nba players talk about that all the, time,
like if it's within the, rules then, yeah you got
to do. It and if you want it out of the,
game you want the best players in the, world because
not JUST Sga Jayleen brunson does, It Luka dogs does
(01:25:51):
like all these great premier scorers do. It you legislated
out of the game with the, officiator you.
Speaker 3 (01:25:56):
KNOW I.
Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
Uh the thing, is there's already rules on the on
the books for. FLOPPING i remember when flopping used me
a technical. Foul i'm old enough to remember that.
Speaker 4 (01:26:05):
Warning you know what's, funny they gave out like three
flop warnings this.
Speaker 3 (01:26:09):
YEAR i, see, like what are we?
Speaker 2 (01:26:13):
Doing you couldn't either get rid of it or use it?
Exactly who who they give them? TO i can find
it for. You it's A i Think Marcus smart was probably.
Speaker 7 (01:26:20):
Too i'm sure THAT sgad.
Speaker 3 (01:26:22):
Got none of.
Speaker 2 (01:26:23):
Them but the thing about the way that what that
drives me crazy about this selling calls has always. Existed
but and again this is very MUCH i did not
nobody ever gave gave a damn WHEN i played. Basketball
BUT i still that's WHY i referenced to the you,
(01:26:43):
know think about. It there was an energy Of i'm
going to the, Rim i'm attempting to, score whereas IF
i did not get, fouled like the concept of and
one is that like and pick up basketball is IF
i didn't get, FOULED i would have made.
Speaker 3 (01:26:59):
This so you have to give me the ball. Back
do you know What i'm?
Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
Saying it's, like IF i didn't get, FOUND i would
have Made that is not what is happening on the
majority of the times That Shay gill just hissed the.
Speaker 3 (01:27:13):
Floor and that's WHAT i think is the, biggest the
biggest rub to.
Speaker 4 (01:27:16):
IT i got Four we've got four flop assessed flopping
violations from this Season Jose alvarado when he was on The,
Pelicans Malik monk on The, Kings Jalen tyson On, cleveland
And Russell westbrook on the secrament Of kings as. Well
are they coming at The kings For? YEAH i know
that isn't it hard? Enough shouldn't they be allowed to?
(01:27:37):
Flop they, again they tried to be good this.
Speaker 2 (01:27:41):
Year ill like that really truly having a handle on
the postal of the. League, yes as you can tell
those all feel Like wednesday morning finds that came down.
Speaker 4 (01:27:54):
Like, wow two of them were In, november by the,
Way so like it's.
Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
Right so so like there are already rules in place
that have. This BUT i honestly AND i think that
it will start to. Happen all you freaking nerds who
made THE ti eighty three a useful thing in, Basketball,
uh the calculator in. Basketball, uh let's start counting falls
(01:28:19):
BECAUSE i think if there's a legit league leader on
falls on shot, attempts that that's something like because it's
everybody tells. CALLS i agree with. You Jalen brunston hits the.
Floor we didn't have. To Luka dansons hit the. Floor
we didn't have. To you just out like, Hell i've
Seen victor Weinbin yama in this series.
Speaker 3 (01:28:38):
Four and doesn't have to do.
Speaker 2 (01:28:39):
It, yes but when you show it and it's so
egregious that it's it's like, Turnovers, bro everybody turns the ball,
over but when you turn the ball over fourteen times a,
Game steph Castle, is we have to talk about.
Speaker 3 (01:28:52):
It do you see What i'm?
Speaker 2 (01:28:53):
Saying if Shake Kill desis is falling on twenty five
percent of shot, attempts that's a. LOT i went back
and looked And Olden polonies was on the show fors
With Buck. Rising that's, Right olden said THAT embiid started.
Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
THIS embiid is a big time. Flopper.
Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
YEAH i went back and looked this up this week
and an article By Chris harry at the.
Speaker 3 (01:29:14):
Time.
Speaker 2 (01:29:15):
Yeah, now, again this is a snapshot in time OF,
embiid but this IS, mvp AND mvp.
Speaker 3 (01:29:22):
He had fallen one out of eight shot.
Speaker 2 (01:29:25):
Attempts, okay, yeah that pales in comparison to what we're
seeing right.
Speaker 4 (01:29:32):
Now let me ask you about THE embiid part of.
IT i do think big guys just tend to, fall
and that was there was a lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:29:39):
Rationale he's asked so many lower body. Injuries it's easier
for him to fall on his butt than it is
for him to land on his feet and potentially twist
an ankle or impact the.
Speaker 3 (01:29:50):
Knee that's three hundred pounds coming down for.
Speaker 7 (01:29:52):
YOU i was about to say it's two hundred and eighty, pounds.
Speaker 3 (01:29:54):
Right, so but there.
Speaker 2 (01:29:56):
Was but it was still a concept of why are
you on the ground so much so the point that
they had an, explainer, okay right to the point THAT
i had a rerationale as to why it was. Happening
it's like the scene of Wedding crashes where they're playing
pick up, football right and uh And Vince vaughan keeps
getting just.
Speaker 3 (01:30:14):
Rocked uh yeah and.
Speaker 2 (01:30:18):
Uh and at one Point Ohen wilson looks over and,
goes every TIME i look around and look at, you
you you're on the ground, Again like what's going on with?
Speaker 3 (01:30:23):
That it's, like, yeah some of these, Guys you're, like
why are you always on the.
Speaker 4 (01:30:26):
GROUND i Think Tom haberstrow charted it out at least
of like the stars in this playoffs season OF u
of the guys who follow the most unshot, attempts and
it was like at first he was, LIKE i don't
THINK sga does, all you, know all that, egregiously and
then it was, like, oh, yeah, no he's doing this.
Speaker 2 (01:30:43):
Is i'm glad you Remind i'm glad you reminded me
that Was harberstrow who initially charted. It, yeah because that's
what made me go back and look to see the emb,
thing BECAUSE i did want to see like where's the?
Speaker 4 (01:30:54):
Context and the frustrating thing about that IS sga is so.
Good we shouldn't be talking about his flopping all the.
TIME i think it's a little bit of a of
a lazy conversation and, criticism but it is still like
a legitimate, thing, Right like it's a legitimate issue with.
Speaker 2 (01:31:12):
Him it would be like if you had an employee
at your regular name tag business right whatever.
Speaker 3 (01:31:20):
You name, it right somewhere where you go in and
they say, hi welcome as you.
Speaker 2 (01:31:23):
Enter, it which is all Over. California but this employee
is the best one. Ever but every fifth day they
show up completely blasted and you can't like they're just.
Speaker 3 (01:31:37):
Home they're so, drunk they're fighting. Customers but every other
day it's, like, dude this guy would be this, guy
we should have him own the. FRANCHISE i THINK i
worked with someone like that at The gap in like
nineteen ninety. Nine, yeah it was it was like four
days out of the, week this dude is.
Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
Amazing and then but that one time and it's but
absolutely it overshadows everything we understand that you want to, get,
like but when you do that one, thing yes it.
Speaker 3 (01:32:04):
Matters, yeah BECAUSE i go back to, this this is the.
Speaker 2 (01:32:08):
Argument and it's, dramatic but that's what the radio's for
he doesn't flop all the, Time he only flops some
of the.
Speaker 3 (01:32:15):
Time.
Speaker 4 (01:32:16):
Yeah how many people do you need to kill to
be considered a? MURDERER i think just.
Speaker 3 (01:32:20):
One.
Speaker 2 (01:32:21):
Yeah how many times you have to cheat before you're a?
CHEATER i think just. Once i'm not saying that you
just as soon as the first flop is flopped that
you're automatically labeled they. Flopper but we have to where
it is just sports court. Guilty it is. Justified the
flopper chance are. Justified and, honestly this is the thing
(01:32:44):
that drives me the most nuts about.
Speaker 3 (01:32:45):
IT i would lean.
Speaker 2 (01:32:48):
In, yeah at this, Point i'm coming down to, Court San,
antonio Flopper i'm.
Speaker 3 (01:32:53):
Doing i'm raising the roof with my left hand As
i'm dribbling with my. Right hard to do, that, though
when you shooting thirty eight percent in the, series.
Speaker 2 (01:33:01):
You, Know, yeah as Slimp charal, said if it's a,
lie we fight on that.
Speaker 3 (01:33:06):
Line on that. Lie, absolutely and of the third quarter
three point margin Spurs Verse.
Speaker 2 (01:33:14):
Thunder back to back finals appearances For, okay see you
on the, line first one For San antonio in The
Victor Wemban yama.
Speaker 3 (01:33:23):
AREA i was getting. There you looked at me, like,
NO i, REMEMBER i remember That jim TALKING i was getting.
Speaker 2 (01:33:29):
There he said first one THAT i am coma and
The victor webban yama. Era, Okay BUT i think that
Most spurs front office members would say a little bit
ahead of, schedule you would probably deemed as you.
Speaker 4 (01:33:45):
This was supposed to be like a team that was
in the playing. Tournament maybe everything breaks, right flirting with
the top, six you, know and they won sixty two.
GAMES i keep.
Speaker 2 (01:33:55):
Track of almost, involuntarily of kind of like the opinions
that the general can census opinion of teams going.
Speaker 3 (01:34:02):
Forward that was. It it was can this team be
about five? HUNDRED i THINK.
Speaker 2 (01:34:07):
I listened to The Hoop collective all the, time and
there was serious debate between those three guys WHO i
think know a lot of, Ball Brian, Wenthors tim mcmanon Ten,
bontemps over whether or not The spurs would be over
five hundred right at the start of the, year right
and and and the people saying. NO i think it
Was bontemps who was, like of course they. Will there'll
be a top four, seed, right like even the furthest
(01:34:30):
dream was still like they have home, court for some
of the, playoffs, Right so like this is still ahead
of schedule for. Everything and the way That wenby has
played his peaks have you feeling incredible to the point
THAT i think Shake yill just post game told you
last time.
Speaker 3 (01:34:46):
They know it's.
Speaker 4 (01:34:47):
Here it's like this guy's coming for the league, someday
he's here for it. Now jay said this is the
biggest game of his.
Speaker 2 (01:34:54):
Career then, correct it said it's the next game other, seven,
right other than that game, Seven but it is. Informative,
nonetheless That freudian slip That shay had, Listen freudian, slips
actual slips on the basketball. Court shay a master of.
Both coming up. Next we talked about this a second.
(01:35:17):
Ago but sometimes you may not have said something that
was the wrong thing to say in terms of the.
Speaker 3 (01:35:24):
Truth.
Speaker 2 (01:35:26):
But it was definitely the wrong thing to, say and
you could only do wrong At OTA's only a handful of.
Way somebody found a way to do. It we'll get
to it coming up. Next you, KNOW i know The
spurs are ahead of, Schedule Zach, harper what's?
Speaker 3 (01:35:43):
That BECAUSE i just watched.
Speaker 2 (01:35:47):
A rookie bring the ball up the court In game
seven of The Western conference, final.
Speaker 3 (01:35:53):
But it's got to be like first or second quarter right,
now right, NOW i don't.
Speaker 1 (01:35:55):
Know it is a a.
Speaker 2 (01:35:59):
Crunch, tom not BY nba, standards but by the fact
that your season has nine minutes left for whoever loses.
Standards And i'm just Watching Dylan harper just calmus can
be like it's A sunday, afternoon strolling up the, court
dealing with full court pressure by one of the best
defenders in THE, nba and he's.
Speaker 4 (01:36:18):
Unbothered this maybe end up being a really dumb. TAKE
i think there's a chance he's as impactful someday As
Cooper flag in this.
Speaker 2 (01:36:26):
Class, listen there have been dumber things said, before some by.
ME i just Think Dylan harper is going to be
like a top five point guard in the league at some.
Speaker 3 (01:36:35):
Point and THAT'S i will say.
Speaker 2 (01:36:36):
This and this is no shade To Cooper flag because
he hasn't had this, opportunity AND i do believe.
Speaker 3 (01:36:42):
It If wemby was his, teammate oh he probably, well
but AS i, know you would have probably made the
playoffs by.
Speaker 6 (01:36:50):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:36:50):
Yeah but What Dylan harper has shown in this is
that these lights are not too, bright and that is
something that you don't know it until you know.
Speaker 3 (01:37:02):
IT i don't Care Cooper, Flag victor Winbin.
Speaker 2 (01:37:06):
Yama we didn't know if the lights were gonna be
too bright till they, were until we Saw, okay they're clearly. Not,
yeah and that is true for every single player IN nba.
History time out take it with eight minutes, left it
to an eleven point margin for San. Antonio we'll get
into that a little bit more with the update in
about five, minutes but first we should take about five
(01:37:26):
minutes and talk about, well you, know ACTUALLY i HEARD
i don't want to misappropriate WHO i saw said, this
but somebody said And Ben steeler's top of.
Speaker 3 (01:37:41):
Mind but it might just be BECAUSE i Read. Nicks
okay just a second.
Speaker 2 (01:37:44):
Ago but all, right somebody, said if you fall in love,
twice you should always go with the second one because
you were never truly in love the first. Time, interesting, Right,
yeah and some celebrity you said, This, yeah if you
fall in love, twice go, second because if the first
one was also, great you would never have been able.
Speaker 3 (01:38:07):
To fall in love, again was? It Tristan thompson might?
Speaker 2 (01:38:10):
Be SO i knew when The Minnesota vikings brought in
At Kyler murray.
Speaker 3 (01:38:21):
For a quote unquote quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:38:24):
Competition that as long as the boy had two, hands
two feet and went to, practice he was going to
be the starting quarterback In. MINNESOTA jj, McCarthy i mean
stepped in it in a way that's hard to. Imagine
we have to. SOUND i believe we play it real
quick and then we'll Get zack's, reaction or maybe we
(01:38:46):
can't play it real quick and that's all, right we'll
get zach. Reaction now TO. J. J McCarthy saying that
it was like two guys being in a, classroom.
Speaker 10 (01:38:54):
Now it's just like two guys in a.
Speaker 3 (01:38:56):
Classroom you.
Speaker 10 (01:38:56):
Know he sits on one, SIDE i sit on the other,
side and it's the coaches was reponsibility to teach us
and coach.
Speaker 1 (01:39:01):
Us so is there any awkwardness like between you two?
Speaker 10 (01:39:06):
Awkwardness you, know it's just like the same feeling you
know when you're in high school and there's another person
on the other side of the. Room that's just kind
of how it. Is SO i wouldn't say there's any, Awkwardness.
Speaker 2 (01:39:15):
So en roll call interesting. Enough McCarthy would just be
probably one or two seats ahead Of. Murray so they
wouldn't have been on the other sides of the rule
in high. School BUT i digress up to.
Speaker 3 (01:39:24):
You, LOOK.
Speaker 4 (01:39:28):
I i truly believe when things are against you in
in professional sports and you're asked about, IT i think
you should. LIE i genuinely think we are not lied to.
Enough we get non, answers BUT i think you should.
LIE i think coaches should lie to. US i think
front office executive should lie to. Us AND i THINK
(01:39:48):
jj McCarthy should lie to. Us what else is he
going to? Say he's, one he's not. GOOD i don't
know That Kyler murray. IS i know we've he's seem
good to play from him a lot more than we've
seen good play FROM jj. McCarthy grand he's had a
much longer. Career but they didn't Bring Kyler murray into
(01:40:09):
like light a. Fire they brought him in because they
need to win games now with this. Team, yes and
that was the best option. Available or they could have
flirted With Kirk. Cousins, AGAIN i don't, know probably don't
want to do that.
Speaker 2 (01:40:21):
Now uh this for, ME i THINK i think THAT
jj would have been better. SHIRT i, mean a non
answer there would have been like it's. Great we're trying to.
COMPETE i want to, yeah, Right AND i don't think
anybody would have faulted him for SAYING i want to
win the.
Speaker 3 (01:40:37):
Job. Right of course you should want to win.
Speaker 2 (01:40:39):
With in the realm of possible things that you can.
Say but this comes off as entitled in a. Way that,
is you've never been a backup in your, life which
is true for most guys in the league until they
get to the. Lead, sure, right but it's entitled in that,
(01:41:03):
like this is a team, ultimately and you are not
being done wrong. HERE i would take it a step.
Further you, SAID i don't know If Kyler murray is.
GOOD i think we know That Kyler murray is. Good
we know that he is not, great, Right we know
that we know that he is not. Great we know
(01:41:26):
that if there are starting quarterbacks of, there he will
be somewhere picked BETWEEN i don't, know fifteenth and, thirtieth
which makes him.
Speaker 3 (01:41:34):
Good.
Speaker 2 (01:41:35):
Yeah we think at this point there is only fifteen
minutes of evidence THAT jj McCarthy is even. GOOD jj
McCarthy may be. Unplayable there's a lot of evidence that
says he's not. Exactly there is much more evidence to
say that he is unplayable at this moment than to
(01:41:56):
say that he will beat out anybody in the.
Speaker 3 (01:41:59):
Course to that. Competition, right.
Speaker 2 (01:42:02):
With all of, that And i'm not, WRITING i am
not shutting the book anymore THAN i had it shut.
ALREADY i didn't THINK jj was going to be successful
in THE, nfl BUT i.
Speaker 3 (01:42:11):
Don't now he's.
Speaker 2 (01:42:12):
There he has every opportunity that he possibly could take
this attitude though to, me because you know What Kyler
murray has, done started seven years in THE.
Speaker 3 (01:42:22):
Nfl, yeah he. Could he probably knows a lot more
than you.
Speaker 2 (01:42:26):
Do, yeah as you started seven, games there's probably something
to delineate from, that something to glean from that instead
of looking at this guy like middle fingers up.
Speaker 4 (01:42:35):
Right, YEAH i think you do have to kind of
approach it in that. Way but there's also part of
it With there's also part of it WITH jj McCarthy
THAT i wonder if he almost has to speak it into.
Existence he, right, yes where he's, like, well that's this
is HOW i got to figure this. OUT i GOT
(01:42:56):
i just have to talk Like i'm the guy and
then MAYBE i will be some. Day and like he,
said all the, evidence LIKE i have A i have
a group chat of friends from From. Minneapolis they're All vikings,
fans And i've been arguing with them ABOUT jj McCarthy
for a couple of years. Now and, granted, like, look
he was hurt the first year right toward THE acl or,
whatever like that's a tough way to start. Out but last,
(01:43:20):
year like that was a team with a lot of
help for. Him Justin, jefferson my.
Speaker 3 (01:43:26):
God like. That that guy's.
Speaker 4 (01:43:29):
Unbelievable you don't have to throw it all that much
in the vicinity for him to go get. It AND
jj McCarthy was never other than that first fifteen, minute you,
know fourth, quarter first game of the. Year there was
no evidence that, like, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:43:41):
MAYBE i honest for my dollar right, now pound for
pound on the outside looking, in of, Course Justin jefferson
to me seems to be the best teammate in THE
nfl because you've.
Speaker 4 (01:43:52):
Never seen what you never see that, complaint that tire
raid on the on the, sidelines any of.
Speaker 2 (01:43:59):
THEY i don't even be grudge A. J brown know
what happens in The phillies, Offense but could you, imagine
could you imagine The bengals had to train Via Joe
flacco just So Javar chase wouldn't lose his, mind.
Speaker 3 (01:44:15):
AND i respect.
Speaker 2 (01:44:16):
It Kauz Joe flack was a better quarterback the anything
they had, Going but good, golly could you they want
To The vikings won a game this year with twelve
passing yards and with, that that's.
Speaker 3 (01:44:29):
Nineteen forties, football. Right Then let's kick it over To
steve The.
Speaker 2 (01:44:32):
Sager game, Seven, steve you bet you it's A it's
A Cason Wilace Kelton johnson's showdown in the fourth, quarter
just like we all.
Speaker 8 (01:44:41):
Expect, Yep Cason wallace did start Aj mitchell out for
a four straight. Game Starter Jaylen williams OF okac out
again with the hamstring, injury played just ten minutes In game.
Six we're at a, timeout under seven minutes to. Go
San antonio still leads AT okac ninety seven ninety. One
it was a double digit lead with about eight minutes to.
Go some of us are old enough to remember when
(01:45:04):
The Western Conference Finals game seven Was portland at The.
Lakers shaq And kobe hadn't won anything and they were
trailing by double digits at home fourth quarter of That
game seven and came back to win amazing stat FROM
ap that since that day in two, thousand teams with
a double digit lead in the fourth quarter of a
(01:45:24):
game seven have won sixty two straight. Games San antonio
was up double digits AS i, say just over a minute.
Ago it's now ninety seven to ninety. One At Oklahoma.
City victor Wembin yama is now leading in points and
rebounds for his team twenty two, points seven boards For Oka,
see thirty three points For Shay. Gilgis alexander Chet, holmgren
(01:45:47):

rebounds two. Turnovers Alex caruso off the bench four, assists
three turnovers ten points For. Caruso the Other Jan williams
eleven off the. Bench jared McCain did not. Start he

Speaker 3 (01:47:59):
Game. Man, ALSO i.
Speaker 2 (01:48:00):
Believe i'm seeing fouled out for the first time in
her W nba. Career it's been a tough go For
Caitlin clark so far this W.
Speaker 3 (01:48:09):
Nba, SHORTLY i mean almost a quarter of the way. Through,
yeah but it's been it's been a tough.
Speaker 4 (01:48:14):
Go you just got to find her rhythm some kind
sometime in LIKE i don't, Know, September, August september should be.
Speaker 3 (01:48:20):
Good hopefully that left hand starts to you, know that
would help get give that left hand existing what.
Speaker 2 (01:48:28):
Right is going to be a Leg she's going to the.
Left she's trying to step back and shoot a. Three
IF i know, THAT i imagine if.
Speaker 3 (01:48:35):
You might be on A Scouting. Report, YEAH i miss
any today's.

Speaker 3 (01:48:56):
Full show posted right after we get off of the.
Speaker 2 (01:48:59):
Air Becky hammond said it earlier and it's been a
common refrain.
Speaker 3 (01:49:06):
A lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:49:06):
People Zach harper are of the opinion that the best
two teams remaining in the THE nba are currently playing
right now as we're looking at The San Antonio spurs and,
okay see four thirty. Left San antonio takes an eleven
point lead and it's going to break final timeout for
(01:49:30):
Dag nault's. Bunch that's, okay she's head coach of the.
Uninitiated if we talked about that, Too, like how many
people think recognize? Him probably not too. Many but do
you think that these are the two best teams in THE, Nba?
Zach or do The New York knicks.
Speaker 3 (01:49:43):
Still have something to say?
Speaker 4 (01:49:44):
Here, no The knicks still have something That knicks can
very much win THE Nba, championship AND i don't think
it takes a whole lot of, like, well, yeah if
there's some injuries or, Whatever like This knicks team is.
Good they've unlocked something in you, know from game four
of the first round through sweeping the other two. Rounds
(01:50:05):
these eleven straight, wins like this is a this you
don't play this way at this level for this long
in the postseason and it's not.
Speaker 3 (01:50:11):
Legitimate you can, say, yeah but they haven't played.
Speaker 4 (01:50:13):
Anybody, oh The east is, wait, sure The east has
been weak for like twenty years and we've never seen.
This it's also it's we've never seen it's half THE.
Speaker 3 (01:50:22):
Nba. BRO i don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:50:23):
What but this next team is legitimately good enough to
beat either of these team AND a teams in a
seven game. Series SO i don't think This this may
end up being THE Nba, championship.
Speaker 3 (01:50:34):
You, know by. Default but, no The knicks can absolutely
beat either of these.
Speaker 2 (01:50:38):
Teams AND i think when you factor in the idea that, well,
hell as long as The knicks are able to come
out the remainder of this rest, period one guy down
with a broken, pinky as long as we could survive
the rest of.
Speaker 3 (01:50:52):
It everybody's sitting down In New.
Speaker 2 (01:50:55):
York but, uh THAT i think plays a massive role
because there's a certain level.
Speaker 3 (01:51:01):
Of rest Versus russ.
Speaker 2 (01:51:03):
Versus these two teams just got to beat and the
living hell out of each, other, Right and we have been,
hitting you, know relatively fat and, happy trying to punch on.
Ourselves but we're feeling pretty good health, wise and it's
feeling good leg wise in terms of the. Knicks AND
i also think they have a unique scenario and that
(01:51:24):
this is the second long legoff they've. Had, yeah so
you can take that data from the first, one evaluated
and tweaking and tweak a little.
Speaker 4 (01:51:33):
Bit, Yeah AND i think you saw some of that
In game one obviously Against. Cleveland you, know down twenty
two in the fourth, quarter they come back one because
they're they're, great and two Because cleveland is very much
not and not. Together and so LIKE i, think if
you're In New, york you look at that and you, realize, oh,
no this is The. Finals this is you, know the
best team we are going to. Face there is urgency
(01:51:56):
from the. START i don't think they played with THEIR
i think they were waiting For cleveland fold and it worked,
right but still, like it's not Like cleveland wins that,
game and Now New york has lost their confidence and
it's a.
Speaker 3 (01:52:08):
Series it just would have ended in.
Speaker 2 (01:52:09):
Five it would have been three zero For Kenny, atkinson understandably.
Speaker 3 (01:52:13):
So but that's just on the analytics. Part that's that's.
Speaker 2 (01:52:16):
Right, yeah you you know you Gotta the funny thing
about that is the analytics say, that, no you guys
got your ass beating a lot of these.
Speaker 3 (01:52:24):
Games, well and then.
Speaker 2 (01:52:25):
He talks about expected shot quality or whatever it. Is
sure he's, like, dude there was a clip Of Jalen
brunton in the lane with three cavaliers by, himself and
somebody captioned it is that IF i didn't if you
didn't have this sound, on you would think there was
a dead ball Because brunston was so slow to the
(01:52:46):
room And, Mobley allen and whoever the wing PLAYER i
think it.
Speaker 3 (01:52:51):
Was strews couldn't have been, bothered couldn't have BEEN i,
mean that's you gonna run all the way over. There
you can't do. That, yeah that's come, on that's a.
Lot i'm at the.
Speaker 2 (01:52:59):
Line he's at the basket two STEPS i cannot be
expected to do.
Speaker 4 (01:53:04):
Such, yeah it's not like one of them is a
raining you, know was a reigning Defensive player of The.
Speaker 3 (01:53:07):
Year you know what's.
Speaker 2 (01:53:08):
Interesting because right now in This winby's got twenty two
points and seven, rebounds and it feels like he's had
a much bigger impact than those than those numbers would.
SAY i would love to know to your point of
the plus minus stat From winby in forming his, LIKE
i would love to know when this game ends, up
(01:53:29):
if he kind of continues along this, path As Dylan
harper hits a three, pointer if he continues on his,
PATH i would love to know kind of where it factors,
in because his impact to me has been felt like
just a ton of different, places and his stat line
in this game will probably pale in comparison To game,
(01:53:51):
five WHICH i.
Speaker 4 (01:53:52):
Thought he was, bad right, RIGHT i, MEAN i think
the thing it's interesting because like in The lakers series FOR,
okc who were, like, Oh shay's not even doing, anything
and you, know it was, like, No shay's doing a.
Lot shaye is drawing all this, attention which allows all
these other guys to work a lot. Easier same thing With,
wemby like they run a pick and. Roll everybody sinks
(01:54:15):
in to worry about. That and that's Why Julian champagne
gets so many open. Looks that's Why Dylan harper gets
so many open. Looks Kellen johnson's wide open in the.
Quarter one they don't think he's gonna hit the, shot
but two because there everyone's worried About, Wemby like his
impact and presence on the floor at all, times just
offensively is, immense and then defensively they're. Afraid you, Know
(01:54:36):
Mo dakiell does a great job former video coordinator for
The clippers and The spurs Under pop does a great
job breaking down the. Game Moda, curly he's the GUY
i go to to feel, like what the hell just?
Happened Exactly like he's he's as smart as it gets
with breaking down the. Game And modakiel coined the TERM u. Turns,
yeah like everyone has A u turn Against, wemby and
(01:54:56):
we've seen it time and time again in this. Series
they don't play that against anybody, else it's just against.
Him that's how teams play against. Him that's the impact he.
Speaker 3 (01:55:05):
Has if you.
Speaker 2 (01:55:06):
Take Chet holmgren's points, four and you divide it by
his shot.
Speaker 3 (01:55:12):
Attempts, yeah, two.
Speaker 2 (01:55:15):
The answer will give you the position in which he
was drafted in THE.
Speaker 4 (01:55:18):
Nba he did his block a dunk By Dylan. Harper
that's gonna mean, something.
Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
Right, honestly it's like the game one. Block it's almost. Worse,
yeah because we know you have it in you at
certain points in. Time there's two minutes left in The
Western Conference.
Speaker 3 (01:55:33):
Finals Caseon wallace is here to, play by the, way two.
Speaker 2 (01:55:37):
Minutes, left six point, game twelve points For Cason wallace
in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:55:43):
ALONE i have long.
Speaker 2 (01:55:44):
Often said, it if you're under six six In calipari recruited.
Speaker 3 (01:55:48):
You i'm interested because you can. Hoop.
Speaker 2 (01:55:50):
Yes by the time we come, back the finals will be.
Set we'll get our reactions coming up.
Speaker 3 (01:55:56):
Next, well it. Is it's a.
Speaker 2 (01:56:01):
Right they used to, Say Zach, harper it ain't over
to the fat lady.
Speaker 3 (01:56:07):
Sings NOW i, Say Martin wise, here it ain't over
to the, tall skinny guy starts.
Speaker 2 (01:56:13):
Crying he's crying, man and he's. Happy and he said
he would not run from his. EMOTION i can't remember
what he, said something a lot more poetic than WHAT
i was just wrapped the.
Speaker 4 (01:56:21):
Paraphrase uh the modern. Man, LOOK i think The knicks
can absolutely win, this win the. Series but, man this
kid is an Al. Teimer and AGAIN i said this
earlier in the. Show you want to say he hadn't
done anything.
Speaker 3 (01:56:38):
Yet all. That that's. Fine you can be, late but
you will be on the train at some.
Speaker 2 (01:56:43):
Point and again in this, game we talked about.
Speaker 3 (01:56:48):
It you made the great point.
Speaker 2 (01:56:50):
Earlier plus minus is not indicative for a lot of,
players but with a minute and ten seconds left in this,
game we were lovely line perfect for us in the.
Commercial but we're sitting there watching each. Possession shout out
To Mode. Quill there were TWO u turns and the
last thirty, seconds one by THE mvp and the other By,
(01:57:12):
CRUISE i.
Speaker 3 (01:57:12):
Believe the most important possession of their.
Speaker 4 (01:57:14):
Season and they looked at that dude in the middle and, said, no,
nope someone.
Speaker 2 (01:57:19):
ELSE i would Rather Alex dreu Sa sho to Off
allas three than me attempt to grow Through Victor.
Speaker 3 (01:57:26):
Weinbinyama there's gonna be.
Speaker 2 (01:57:28):
A lot of time to go ahead and dissect what
happened In. Okac to, me my top line takeaway, is
AND i Know the officials have had a lot of
stuff about. This my top line takeaway is right there
with his former number two pick in the, Draft Chet
holmgren was a no show for seven games and eventually
(01:57:51):
benched at the end of this. Thing the conversations that
will be, had should they move, him Should oklahoma shitty makeup?
Speaker 1 (01:58:02):
Chade?
Speaker 4 (01:58:02):
Whatever they are one hundred percent. Warranted everything look IS
i don't think it's an. Overreaction everything on how you
build a team in the future is what do you
need Against Victor Webbin yama, yep especially in The Western.
Speaker 3 (01:58:19):
Conference.
Speaker 4 (01:58:19):
Yep what was proven in these seven games Is chet
is not interested in trying to figure that. Out he
hid pretty much the entire. Series he Had he had
a solid game, Five he had like sixteen, points eleven.
Rebounds he was pretty much only aggressive in the series
When Luke cornett was on the floor And wemby. Wasn't
(01:58:40):
they're paying him thirty five to forty million dollars a
year moving, forward you cannot have that much of your
roster that afraid of his you, know big man contemporary
or whatever whatever it's supposed to look. Like, obviously he's
not the contemporary Of, wemby but that's supposed to be
his peer and he wants none of.
Speaker 2 (01:59:01):
That and you, know this may sound like it's a hot,
take this may sound. Inflammatory the window for the thunder shut,
closed this roster construction right, here right, NOW i would
be very surprised to see them run it back under
(01:59:22):
currently constructed, because like you just, said it's all About.
Speaker 3 (01:59:26):
Wemby.
Speaker 2 (01:59:27):
Now What wemby is now is Like Lawrence taylor in
his first few, years all of a, sudden, no we
gotta have left tackles, now the left tackle was out.
Up that's the most important position, football because he is
going to wreck everything we do going forward if you
(01:59:49):
do not have an answer for, that AND i think
The knicks potentially. Could but guess, What Karl Anthony townells
ain't walking through a lot of different, doors you know
What i'm, Saying like he's, not he's only he's. Not
he's not to grow on trees to be seven feet,
tall had forty percent from three and even he is
(02:00:10):
that is just now in YEAR i forget, Though but
like last year In, minnesota last two years In, minnesota
and now his time In New york coming into his.
Speaker 4 (02:00:20):
Own right, right he's almost just kind of like he's been.
Good he's been ALL, nba he's Been All. Star this
playoffs is when we've kind of figured, out, oh this
is he's supposed to.
Speaker 2 (02:00:30):
Be you can win a championship with this guy as
your best player or second best. Player that was the
thing that helped people In minnesota had questions. ABOUT i
don't think they wanted to trade, him but it was
still a. Question right, now you're looking at this AND
i think that's the perfect. Matchup, again perfect. Matchup there
is no perfect. Matchup if you're gonna try to Bother,
wenby that's the best way to do. It BUT i
(02:00:50):
would say this to your, point it nothing matters unless
you have an answer for that, guy and nobody in
The west.
Speaker 4 (02:00:56):
Does he's not. Coming he's, here and he's he like
legitimately wants all the. Smoke he wants all of, it
and he wants to tell you have no. Chance he absolutely.
Speaker 3 (02:01:07):
Does And i'd say tell, you, well you know, what
big win for, carring big one for. Caring absolutely. Cares after,
Winning let's go
