Now it starts to slow because I like the the
last couple of weeks of August to lead up to
the football season, like you know, you know, we're week
away from we're having uh our week zero games, right
like and then.

The Labor Day games right in college just here. We
love it now.

That means as we reached this point you guys now
I know high school to get everybody's back, what's your deal?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Like, what are you? When do you? When are your
classes start?
Speaker 5 (01:47):
We don't start till closer to Labor Day? Uh, Like
the few that that Wednesday, Thursday, Friday before will have
like different class levels come in. But yeah, where we
really start up after Labor Day? You know what's funny,
And that's how my kids are. My kids start after
Labor Day. And I was talking to people, you know,

around the country, like Brady Quinn yesterday I did his
show to couple two pros with a couple Joe and
they started next week and Jeff Jeff's kids start next week.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Like it's crazy. From the country.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
There's some that and locally to us as well, an
that start now and finish earlier. Like a school that
was in our previous league, Les South College High School,
they start mid August and it starts at early yeah,
and they end like.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Before Memorial Day, like they're done middle of May. So
that's kind of there.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
It's becoming a trend that it's grown why. I'm not
sure the actual rationale behind it. I think they like
the flexibility of it. I think they like finishing earlier.
I don't know if there's any statistics behind it. I've
never been at a school that has done it, but
I've seen it just being around the other schools, and

it's a growing trend for sure.

Yeah, I don't know why you would, like, you know,
the idea of summer, like summer includes August, right, like
I've ever understudied, like the whole idea of summer vacation
is summer vacation is to take it through August, because
what kid wants to be in class when it's thousands degreees?

Yeah, again, it's different. Maybe it's to give bigger breaks
throughout the year. I think that, you know, maybe a
longer Christmas break, a longer Thanksgiving break, Like you give
yourself the flexibility to have larger breaks, larger spring breaks.
People want to travel, Maybe it gives them more flexibility
throughout the year.

That's just the stuff that I that comes.

But I honestly do not know the actual stats behind
it or what's driving it that everyone's doing that's becoming
more of a trend. It is popular and it's starting
to grow for sure.

it's it's an interesting concept. I don't I don't like it.

I'm an I'm an aug I'm gonna go back to
class now. You know you're playing football. You got practice,
Like you gotta worry about camp and getting to practice
and and it's on. But you shouldn't be worried about
class while you got camp training, camp going on.

No, for sure, I agree. I think it's Uh, I'm
on the same page as you. I I'd like to
enjoy my summer.

Obviously sports are back.

But for someone that you know, was in my time
in school, I just think.

Yeah, you're in academic, so I mean, what do you
when do you go back?

Like you're I mean obviously you're in there because the
fall sports have started for you, But like when do
you when do you win?

Every day?

It's been happening. We had leadership team retreats last week.
Uh so like we're back man, I'm I'm.

Back in there. It's uh, it's good.

I had a couple of long days, Like you're not.
You gotta get used to it again. Like I had
a couple of eight to five's where you're you know,
you're just in the office and your meetings, and it's like, man,
you gotta get used to this again.

It's I was tired.

Yeah, yeah, you got it.

You know, in the summer, you take the eight to two, eight,
the threes, you can have a little bit more flexibility.
You're not you know, you're walking around, but like to
be like locked in for that period of time, it's like,
all right, you gotta reprogram yourself.

Yeah, yeah, I love the academians, academics, I love it.
That's fantastic on lots to get you because it is
basically high school football season.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
That's begune. Yeah.

Man, we're in the thick of it most all.

Everyone has started last week or we'll be starting this week.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
So we're back, we're back in the thing, in the
thick of it. And yeah, it's an exciting time.

I think next week, a little closer season, we'll do
our top ten players, and then we'll before the season starts,
which is the following week, we'll roll out our top
ten for the year, and then we'll you know, we'll
check back at the end last year, I think we
had seven out of ten teams still finish in the
top ten in the Max Prep rankings.

So we did a good job season. We were on it.

You were man, you were on it, dude.

You got your irritated ground when it comes to like
people have to realize this when it comes to talent
around the country. My boys locked in to the top
kids around the country, like the best kids. Like you
were telling me about Rajah Bell's son. Who's who Rajah

Bell played in the NBA for many years. He has
a son, Dia Bell, who was a quarterback in Florida.
You were all over him. You were all over all
the top quarterbacks coming out, like all the high school kids.
You've been on those, the top receiver, Jed Harrison, Marvin's son.

Yeah.

So locally to our area, you know, and and and nationally,
it's just having relationships, having people, you know, connecting. You know,
you're great at it, talking to people all the time
and you know, just kind of keeping your ear open
and dialogue and conversations and then you kind of see it.
And then being lucky enough to go to these different
showcases throughout my times athletic director where I'm not just

stuck in a certain area.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
I'm traveling and I'm getting to see the best of
the best.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
And you know, being around enough you kind of see
when someone does something a little special and you're like,
all right, they got a little some different to them, right.
So yeah, I mean I've been very blessed to be
able to see the different talent. But a lot of
it comes down to your network and who you're talking
to and having you know, relationships and conversations.

So yeah, I'm excited for the year.

There's so much talent out there, so much money out there,
and it's crazy for these kids.

We got was a big, you know, big class action
suit going on with the twenty twenty class, twenty twenty
two class. So it's it's a crazy world we're in
right now.

It really is.

I love this time of year. You know, I spent
I was at practice. We because now we're full hitting,
right like now we're you know, my for those people
don't know, I have two boys, sixteen and thirteen, and
you know, I help out with my thirteen year old
squad and it's the eighth grade, and uh, it's it's

the best watching him hit. You know, it was funny.
Then he the little one comes home and you know,
the first day of hitting, he's like, oh he saw him.
He was spent right because you know they have they
were doing Oklahomas and it's basically you know the way
(09:23):
they do it.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
They'll try to, they'll try to.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
They just let make you keep going, right, like you know,
if you want to go, you go.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
And so he went a bunch of times like he
was just he was loving it.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
And at the practice he was beat up and he
was showing me his arm, he top of his arms all.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Bruised up, and he was looking at it.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
And today that said he came back, he's looking at
it and he was looked at it.

It looks a lot worse.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
It's not he I don't I don't even feel anything.
But he loves it because it was like a trophy
for him.

Yeah, well I love that for him, right, Yeah, that's
big time. He loves it. You know, he's in it,
you know, and you send me the video. Man, he's
he's getting big.

He lays he lays the wood. Brother, he can hit.
He's a I know, he's a skill position player. But
if he ever decides to switch over to the other
side of the ball, he can.

They were like, they were like, uh, coaches like, yeah,
youre are, You're gonna be our Mike.

You'll call the signals. Yeah. I want him just to
focus quarterback.

But he's actually a pretty good defensive player, Like he
moves fast and he hits.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
I like it for the man because they get to
understand what the other positions are doing.

Yes, yes, yes, I.

Like to see it.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
That's why, you know, do you see these guys that
are successful that start a quarterback and move to the
offensive line or tight end or the defense side of
the ball because they get to see it. I really
think it's important for kids to play different play both
sides of the ball at some point and just be
able to see it because your knowledge of the game
just grows. You're understanding what the other people are doing
(11:04):
and if the end goal is to be quarterback. I
love that he's playing linebacker right now because you don't
have a great understanding of the game and how it
evolves and moving the defense and using your eyes and
what they're seeing out there.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
So I think it's really cool.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Yeah, you mentioned it, man.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
You know a little bit later on, I want to
go speaking to quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
I love quarterbacks, right, it's my favorite.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
So a little bit later on, I want to kind
of go through the pathway. I want to I took
the top twelve quarterbacks in college football, and I want
to go through their pathway. And it's an interesting lesson
and it's everything that we've talked about.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
I think of you and like I give you hear your.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
Voice when talking about some of these kids and some
of their pathways, the multiple transfers, right, all this stuff.
But first you want to dive into this suit. I mean,
this is crazy. The class of twenty two. It broke
a couple two weeks ago.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
We were all the year. It broke that Friday night.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
Yeah, it broke around midnight that night before we went.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
On and with Judge Charlotte Sweeney in Colorado, and all
of a sudden, I mean, you know, in the end,
it's got a pass rusher, right, Like there's a bunch
of bunch of kids going back, a bunch of teams
getting better.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
Yeah, it's it's wild. I spoke to.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
Associate had basketball coach in the SEC and I was
asking him if this will He's like, Okay, We're in
on it. Like we have money where we're gonna spendre
We're definitely gonna add to our roster.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
So like.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
It's if each school like did they spend did they
not spend? You got schools like in basketball like LSU
who have four people in the roster. They're going to
go after everybody, right And did they know was this
part of their plan? Like why why they have forwenty
four guys this late? Did were they banking on this?
Like it's it's a wild thing. So there was an injunction.
(13:11):
It started out in Colorado, the NCUBA appealed it.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
It's been withheld.
Speaker 5 (13:16):
Now they're going to the Supreme Court, tenth Circuit and
they're ruling came yesterday, so that basically the n Cuba
has till Monday to make up their mind if what
they're going to do with it, if they're going to
keep fighting, or they're going to say okay, it's open
for a week or adding this window for these kids
to come back and figure out the parameters around it

and see where they can commit to. It's a wild thing.
It's been evolving, but it's been upheld so far. They've
did NCUBA tried to fight it, and it's just been
it's been locked in.

It hasn't moved.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
So the main reason for this lawsuit is Class of
twenty twenty two. They came out this rule, which I
believe if they did in October, there's no problem. Like
the fact that they did it in July. It allowed
this class to get involved, like it was so short
sighted on their plant. Again, if they released this rule
in October, everyone's moved on because not affecting anybody that's
(14:18):
currently playing, right, So they release it in July, and
there was rumblings before that, so then the people who
graduated are like, well, twenty twenty one still had the
COVID year, so everyone before them has been getting.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
Five years because of the COVID.
Speaker 5 (14:36):
So now they're saying everyone after this class gets five years.
So they're the one class that kind of was the
eye man out. So they were upset, right, so they
started following these class action lawsuits and it seems like
the judges have agreed and now we're in this limbo
where we're waiting to see how it plays out. But
(14:56):
it's August and guys are going to join football teams
and guys are going to join you know, like there
have a lot of movement parts of sports that are
going on right now. I Mean we talk about the
main ones of football and basketball, but I'm sure it's
going to affect soccer, It's going to affect you know,
other fall sports.

Yeah, because why wouldn't you take Why would you a
guy that was only team that was good, whatever sport
it was.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Why would the.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Coach go, yeah, come on back, I got your spot,
I got your number one.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
Hundred, Like there's let's get this number. Oh god, that's
another crazy story.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
But there's guys who are league college players that might
not always translate to the pro ranks.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
So there's tons of people who graduated who just.
Speaker 5 (15:40):
Missed out or trying to fight away through a training camp,
you know, trying to fight for a fifty three man
spot that might not work out. They're not trending in
the right way to like I'll go back to college.
Why not go get a couple million dollars? Right, So
it's it's a wild thing. It was short sighted bout
the NCAA yet again in release in July, Like if
(16:00):
you literally wait till October.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
There's no issue. There's no way for them to fight.
The season's already started.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
You know, maybe you get a fight for the second semester,
but it's not what they're dealing with right now.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
So we'll see how it turns out. It looks like.

Over this weekend and there early next week we'll have
it all sorted and then uh, we'll see how these.

Rosters shake out. And it's going to be interesting.

Here's the thing, Dan, like one of the things that
I don't know how you over. I don't know how
it goes back to four years. I don't know how
it doesn't stay at five.

No, it's never going to go back because you know
every other is gonna have an.

Argument, wow year before I may No, this is this is,
this is be permanent. This this is the new rule.

And for we always wanted to be here anyway.

That was part of our when we created our landscape
and all the rules.

You know, I think we had I want.

Six years, we had six to play, yeah for five? Yeah,
six to play four or five.

I think we initially said because of the injuries, like
we were giving we were giving more grace to the injuries, right, like,
if a kid tears a ACL twice in college, right,
they should be able to appeal. Maybe it was five years,
but an appeal for six with injuries, right, was what
I think we kind of stuck to.

But yeah, I mean, we'll see. It's crazy.

So it all comes down to this, after the summer,
if Congress gets back involved in this bill in the passes,
that's the only way we're gonna get these some guardrails
on it, and we'll see.

I don't know. Still, I still don't believe that's going
to pass.

I think they're putting in that bill. I don't. I

the all the quarterbacks where everybody's at. So I have
a list of pathways of the top dozen quarterbacks or so.
All right, so I want to go through them where

they came from and then what to expect, because I
know you're looking at him and you're looking to see
where they're gonna be this year, what happens draft wise,
where do they wind up?

All that stuff.

Yeah, it's gonna be fun.

And and like you know, the guys maches of the world,
and they're saying there could be six quarterbacks in the
first round this twenty twenty seven draft.

Especially one of the greatest drafts of all time. They're
talking about.

This is this is I remember, well, the ultimate draft
was was that the Marinos?
Speaker 2 (22:32):
The eighty two draft, the eighty three draft.

It was the eighty three quarterback draft nineteen eighty three,
Dan Marino.

It was like a bunch him Kelly. It was like
a bunch of quarterbacks. Right.

And then I covered the draft the ninety nine draft. Dude,
I did profiles, like I went and visited all these kids, right.

Ninety nine was nad was Tim mcna Tim couch? Correct?

It was Achille Smith from Oregon he went to Cincinnati.
Was a bust Cave McNown from u c l A
to the Bears.

Who else is that trip? Oh? Uh? Dante Culpepper.

He was in that draft Central Florida, dude, I went
down here before Central Florida became a decent program. They
were like at smaller D one, right, and Colepepper was
the was the best. He was the fastest kid on
the team. He was out running like I was.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
I was sat. I was watching Tate the get with
the coaches.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
They look watch him out run cornerbacks like he was
out running d backs.
Speaker 5 (23:58):
Man, So they projecked out. But there was you know,
obviously huge college guys that year. I mean, like you know,
McNabb probably had the most successful career.

No, but your point, to your point, they all was
all flop. Tim Couch is in Kentucky. He didn't do anything.
Killy Smith didn't the way they gave me down to
do anything. I mean, there was one other guy.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
But to your points, in that draft, who was It
wasn't Ricky in that draft or.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
Well, yes he was. Edrid James was in that draft.
But that was supposed to be the quarterback draft. This
quarterback draft, I can't see how it's not a great draft. Like,
let's look at the top quarterbacks that we have this year.
Let's start off with CJ. Carr because I think he

is the best quarterback in the country right now.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting that.

Yes, I love CJ. Carr.

Now he's old school and I don't think he comes out,
but you know he goes. He went to Seline High School,
Michigan and right to Notre Dame.

I love that. Now if I think it's smart for
him to come back.

Because how deep this draft is, right with qps to
wait unless he is obviously a top three guy, right
but in today's nil era, it's smart even if you
are like, I think the number one quarterback is Dante More. Yeah,
he made that decision. He would have been the second
overall pick and he decided to go back right. So

Five Star went to c l A, started five games
as a true freshman, and then uh interestingly, he transferred
to Oregon and sat behind Dylly Gabriel in twenty twenty four,

which I think that was a great.

Move for him because you got to watch last year.

Was he was spectacular last year up until the championship game.

I love when guys say, okay, like they're playing a
long game a little bit, you know, like I'll be
ready for my opportunity if he comes up, but I'm
gonna go learn. I'm not going to rush into this.
And uh yeah, I mean obviously it's worked out for him.
And then he was patient again. So if it keeps
trending in the direction, he should be the number one
overall pick. If things keep going, you know, in his way,
like he's been being patient with it.

And yeah, and with his new rule. Hey, if he
wants to come back, you got another year.

Aunt, I ain man again, I'm all four coming back
to school. Yeah, man, listen, the NFL was great and
you start the clock and I get it. I understand it,
you know, but like as good as Dante Moore and listen,
I mean, I don't think he's a flop. I think
he's gonna be a stud in the NFL. But there's

always you never know, man, that's the one thing. Once
you get to that league, it's different.

sew the tape on you, and it's it's tough.

gonna be the number one pick, doesn't matify while I
back another because because now I banked another seven eight mil.
And then I go to the league, I'm gonna be
number one pick, number two pick, whatever, and I'll get
another big deal. Like you know, I'm I'm stacking. Why

why wouldn't I Because God forbid, I'm not the truth?
Then why Yeah, I mean we've seen the guys you
know bus before, oh for sure, And again I don't
I don't think that's the case with not anymore.

That all right, Well let's look at that so we
can go by those odds. So you mentioned Trindadad Chamblets.
He's been always. He had a fabulous, fabulous kind of
road right, very cool, from Forest Hills at Northern High

School in Michigan to first State. The first State thing
is wild, right, yes to now the old miss he
won the petition uh to get the extra year because
it was the injury. Didn't have the technology, the medical
(31:05):
stuff sould. We wanted him getting this sixth year. And
I'm I'm a Trinidad Chandlers fan. I mean he was
he was awesome last year.
Speaker 5 (31:13):
Yeah, he's so he's so fun to watch, and I
think he's got a shot in this NFL, right, I
mean he doesn't have the prototypical size or you know,
build of a big NFL quarterback, but the guy's a winner, man,
and that goes a lot. He has the intangibles. He
seems to really understand the game. I think he learned
a lot with Lane. You know, hated love him. He's
(31:36):
a really brilliant football mind.

Yes, so I think he.
Speaker 5 (31:40):
Learned a ton there, and I think he's going to
be successful in NFL, whether it's you know, a mid
tier starter or you know, a lifelong back. I think,
you know, he's not projected in the first round, but
I think if he has another great year, people might
want to take a shot on him. Right, these other
guys are all ahead of him as far as draft
stock goes, but he's got the ails and that weighs

a lot for me.

You mentioned Darien Menzer, Oh boy, I mean look at
his path from Saint Joseph High School out in Cali, Tulane, Duke, Miami.
He went from Tulane to Duke to Miami, and listen,

he's going to have success there, right. He red shirted
in twenty three at Tulane, he breaks out in twenty four,
transfers to Duke in twenty five, froze for almost four
thousand yards and thirty four touchdowns with just six interceptions.
He wins the ACC Championship and his championship game MVP,
(32:48):
and then he goes to Miami to replace Carson Beck.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
And I'm very close with the Duke's staff.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
You know, they had a very public and il dispute
because they signed it for two years.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
When they got him, they knew what they had.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
They were like, this guy is it like they say,
the way he throws the ball, he's an NFL surefire. Yeah,
he's got it all. Now, he was at Duke, so
he wasn't on the biggest stage. But those guys who
I really trust their football knowledge, said he's a big
time and he has a huge pro arm. And I'm
excited to see what he does in Miami. I kind
(33:22):
of wish he was stuck at Duke. He signed a
two year deal, but that's that's just nil, right, there's
no there's not enough guardrails you can get out of it.

You decide you want to go, you go. So, yeah, man,
he's big time. And I see him rising up the
board to share.

Yeah. Yeah, he he fits the profile. Brother fits the profile.

And then go and through it as a dad, and
I've always loved that, you know, I covered I told
you I've covered the college I've covered I've covered big
time college football and basketball, you know, going back to
the nineties. Right, So like all this stuff and all
these coaches in the world changing, it's fascinating stuff fascinating.
So let me get back to these quarterbacks. You know
(36:24):
we had a wild journey. Is that Sam Levitt?
Speaker 2 (36:28):
Right?
Speaker 5 (36:28):
I was waiting for you to bring him up. He's
my sleeperrant. I love him.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Look at this, Look at this. He goes from Westview
High School in Oregon, Pleasant Grove High School in Utah,
Westview High School, West Lynne High School, then Michigan State,
then Arizona State, and now he's with Lane at LSU,
and people go, people say that Levitt is going to
(36:56):
have a huge year.
Speaker 5 (36:58):
So for one, and I don't love his path, but
I love his arm. I love what I'm saying. And
I think with Lane, the knowledge will gain offensively and
the system will run. He's got a big arm, He's athletic,
he can make every throw. I see him really flying
up the draft boards. Now, look, I transferred to find
(37:21):
the right spot. I don't love that he transferred that much.
That does played at three high schools, three high school,
three colleges, Like I understand, it's more common in college now.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
I don't love that.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
But talent wise, he's got it, man, And I think
with Lane, I think that was a perfect spot from
the land. And I'm excited to see how he grows
this year.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
I think he's gonna have a huge year. And I
think he's Yeah, I think he's big time man.

Yeah.

What he's really He's a great athlete. He could move
very mobile and he and he does. He's got a
great arm. The fact that he's just mobile, you know,
he's sold. I mean, he just he dominated when he
was at Arizona State, he dominated.

He can make every throw in the field.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
Yeah, yeah, Uh, how about that Julian saying talking about
the best spot of all the quarterbacks. Oh my god,
to have that group of receivers and listen, I thought
he played well, like a click for him middle of
the year and he made all the right froze like.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
He's got a good temperament.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
It's easy to say, well, look who's struggling to but
you still got to go do it and the kids
got a great head on his shoulder, right, you know,
we know his path. He was a five star from Carlsbad,
signed with with Alabama and then Nick Saban retired and
he went to Ohio State.
Speaker 5 (38:51):
Yeah, he's a competitor. I think he's got the intangibles.
I think he's a leader. I really like his ability.
I mean he's got two he's got too, you know,
Mercedes Benz. Yeah, on the outside. I mean he's got everything.
He's got the maseratis, he's got it all out there.

Man.
Speaker 5 (39:07):
I mean I've seen Chris Henry, I mean jere Smith.
I mean, they're they're unbelievable. They're running back room elite.
I mean they're running back. Their backup running back I
had at Saint Chose Prep is Isaiah West and he's
an absolute stud. He played last year as a true freshman,
but he was like third, Like right, that room is stacked,

the receiver room is stacked, and I think he I
mean he's gonna have a huge year this year.
Speaker 2 (39:35):
Yeah, huge years.
Speaker 4 (39:37):
He really good athlete, Yeah, tough.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
You know what we talked about.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
As a freshman, he had a seventy seven completion rate.
Speaker 5 (39:46):
Yeah, he's smart man, he's got he sees the field.
An he sees the field.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
And then you got h Gunner Stockton, Raven County, Georgia,
right like stay he's home. The ultimate development story. A
Georgia kid who sat and sat and sat, and then
finally took over and again. Man, he threw for like
(40:13):
almost three thousand yards, twenty four touchdowns, only five interceptions.
He ran for another four in sixty two yards another
ten touchdowns.
Speaker 5 (40:23):
All right, I love I love that he stayed. He
was resilient. You know, he didn't run from the competition.
He waited his time out, and now he's having an opportunity.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
So I'm room for him. I don't know how he
translates to the next level.

But yeah, I don't see the next level. I don't
see it.

Maybe back up, maybe he's the seventh round guy, you know,
later later round draft pick or unsigned undrafted, but he's
a I love his journey and I'm excited to see
what he does is here at Georgia.

Now it starts to slow because I like the the
last couple of weeks of August to lead up to
the football season, like you know, you know, we're week
away from we're having uh our week zero games, right
like and then.

The Labor Day games right in college just here. We
love it now.

That means as we reached this point you guys now
I know high school to get everybody's back, what's your deal?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Like, what are you? When do you? When are your
classes start?

We don't start till closer to Labor Day? Uh, Like
the few that that Wednesday, Thursday, Friday before will have
like different class levels come in. But yeah, where we
really start up after Labor Day? You know what's funny,
And that's how my kids are. My kids start after
Labor Day. And I was talking to people, you know,

around the country, like Brady Quinn yesterday I did his
show to couple two pros with a couple Joe and
they started next week and Jeff Jeff's kids start next week.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Like it's crazy. From the country.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
There's some that and locally to us as well, an
that start now and finish earlier. Like a school that
was in our previous league, Les South College High School,
they start mid August and it starts at early yeah,
and they end like.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Before Memorial Day, like they're done middle of May. So
that's kind of there.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
It's becoming a trend that it's grown why. I'm not
sure the actual rationale behind it. I think they like
the flexibility of it. I think they like finishing earlier.
I don't know if there's any statistics behind it. I've
never been at a school that has done it, but
I've seen it just being around the other schools, and

it's a growing trend for sure.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Yeah, I don't know why you would, like, you know,
the idea of summer, like summer includes August, right, like
I've ever understudied, like the whole idea of summer vacation
is summer vacation is to take it through August, because
what kid wants to be in class when it's thousands degreees?
Speaker 5 (03:37):
Yeah, again, it's different. Maybe it's to give bigger breaks
throughout the year. I think that, you know, maybe a
longer Christmas break, a longer Thanksgiving break, Like you give
yourself the flexibility to have larger breaks, larger spring breaks.
People want to travel, Maybe it gives them more flexibility
throughout the year.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
That's just the stuff that I that comes.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
To my brain.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
But I honestly do not know the actual stats behind
it or what's driving it that everyone's doing that's becoming
more of a trend. It is popular and it's starting
to grow for sure.

Yeah yeah, well pretty wild, pretty wild, brother, Like you know,
it's it's an interesting concept. I don't I don't like it.

I'm an I'm an aug I'm gonna go back to
class now. You know you're playing football. You got practice,
Like you gotta worry about camp and getting to practice
and and it's on. But you shouldn't be worried about
class while you got camp training, camp going on.

No, for sure, I agree. I think it's Uh, I'm
on the same page as you. I I'd like to
enjoy my summer.

Obviously sports are back.

But for someone that you know, was in my time
in school, I just think.

Yeah, you're in academic, so I mean, what do you
when do you go back?

Like you're I mean obviously you're in there because the
fall sports have started for you, But like when do
you when do you win?
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Every day?

It's been happening. We had leadership team retreats last week.
Uh so like we're back man, I'm I'm.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
Back in there. It's uh, it's good.
Speaker 5 (05:15):
I had a couple of long days, Like you're not.
You gotta get used to it again. Like I had
a couple of eight to five's where you're you know,
you're just in the office and your meetings, and it's like, man,
you gotta get used to this again.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
It's I was tired.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Yeah, yeah, you got it.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
You know, in the summer, you take the eight to two, eight,
the threes, you can have a little bit more flexibility.
You're not you know, you're walking around, but like to
be like locked in for that period of time, it's like,
all right, you gotta reprogram yourself.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
I get back.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Yeah, yeah, I love the academians, academics, I love it.
That's fantastic on lots to get you because it is
basically high school football season.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
That's begune. Yeah.

Man, we're in the thick of it most all.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
Everyone has started last week or we'll be starting this week.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
So we're back, we're back in the thing, in the
thick of it. And yeah, it's an exciting time.

I think next week, a little closer season, we'll do
our top ten players, and then we'll before the season starts,
which is the following week, we'll roll out our top
ten for the year, and then we'll you know, we'll
check back at the end last year, I think we
had seven out of ten teams still finish in the
top ten in the Max Prep rankings.

So we did a good job season. We were on it.

You got your irritated ground when it comes to like
people have to realize this when it comes to talent
around the country. My boys locked in to the top
kids around the country, like the best kids. Like you
were telling me about Rajah Bell's son. Who's who Rajah

Bell played in the NBA for many years. He has
a son, Dia Bell, who was a quarterback in Florida.
You were all over him. You were all over all
the top quarterbacks coming out, like all the high school kids.
You've been on those, the top receiver, Jed Harrison, Marvin's son.

Yeah.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
So locally to our area, you know, and and and nationally,
it's just having relationships, having people, you know, connecting. You know,
you're great at it, talking to people all the time
and you know, just kind of keeping your ear open
and dialogue and conversations and then you kind of see it.
And then being lucky enough to go to these different
showcases throughout my times athletic director where I'm not just
(07:51):
stuck in a certain area.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
I'm traveling and I'm getting to see the best of
the best.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
And you know, being around enough you kind of see
when someone does something a little special and you're like,
all right, they got a little some different to them, right.
So yeah, I mean I've been very blessed to be
able to see the different talent. But a lot of
it comes down to your network and who you're talking
to and having you know, relationships and conversations.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
So yeah, I'm excited for the year.

There's so much talent out there, so much money out there,
and it's crazy for these kids.

We got was a big, you know, big class action
suit going on with the twenty twenty class, twenty twenty
two class. So it's it's a crazy world we're in
right now.

I love this time of year. You know, I spent
I was at practice. We because now we're full hitting,
right like now we're you know, my for those people
don't know, I have two boys, sixteen and thirteen, and
you know, I help out with my thirteen year old
squad and it's the eighth grade, and uh, it's it's

the best watching him hit. You know, it was funny.
Then he the little one comes home and you know,
the first day of hitting, he's like, oh he saw him.
He was spent right because you know they have they
were doing Oklahomas and it's basically you know the way
(09:23):
they do it.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
They'll try to, they'll try to.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
They just let make you keep going, right, like you know,
if you want to go, you go.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
And so he went a bunch of times like he
was just he was loving it.

And at the practice he was beat up and he
was showing me his arm, he top of his arms all.

But he's actually a pretty good defensive player, Like he
moves fast and he hits.

I like it for the man because they get to
understand what the other positions are doing.

Like to see it.

That's why, you know, do you see these guys that
are successful that start a quarterback and move to the
offensive line or tight end or the defense side of
the ball because they get to see it. I really
think it's important for kids to play different play both
sides of the ball at some point and just be
able to see it because your knowledge of the game
just grows. You're understanding what the other people are doing

and if the end goal is to be quarterback. I
love that he's playing linebacker right now because you don't
have a great understanding of the game and how it
evolves and moving the defense and using your eyes and
what they're seeing out there.

So I think it's really cool.

Yeah, you mentioned it, man.

You know a little bit later on, I want to
go speaking to quarterbacks.

I love quarterbacks, right, it's my favorite.

So a little bit later on, I want to kind
of go through the pathway. I want to I took
the top twelve quarterbacks in college football, and I want
to go through their pathway. And it's an interesting lesson
and it's everything that we've talked about.

I think of you and like I give you hear your.

Voice when talking about some of these kids and some
of their pathways, the multiple transfers, right, all this stuff.
But first you want to dive into this suit. I mean,
this is crazy. The class of twenty two. It broke
a couple two weeks ago.

We were all the year. It broke that Friday night.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
Yeah, it broke around midnight that night before we went.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
On and with Judge Charlotte Sweeney in Colorado, and all
of a sudden, I mean, you know, in the end,
it's got a pass rusher, right, Like there's a bunch
of bunch of kids going back, a bunch of teams
getting better.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
Yeah, it's it's wild. I spoke to.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
Associate had basketball coach in the SEC and I was
asking him if this will He's like, Okay, We're in
on it. Like we have money where we're gonna spendre
We're definitely gonna add to our roster.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
So like.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
It's if each school like did they spend did they
not spend? You got schools like in basketball like LSU
who have four people in the roster. They're going to
go after everybody, right And did they know was this
part of their plan? Like why why they have forwenty
four guys this late? Did were they banking on this?
Like it's it's a wild thing. So there was an injunction.

It started out in Colorado, the NCUBA appealed it.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
It's been withheld.
Speaker 5 (13:16):
Now they're going to the Supreme Court, tenth Circuit and
they're ruling came yesterday, so that basically the n Cuba
has till Monday to make up their mind if what
they're going to do with it, if they're going to
keep fighting, or they're going to say okay, it's open
for a week or adding this window for these kids
to come back and figure out the parameters around it

and see where they can commit to. It's a wild thing.
It's been evolving, but it's been upheld so far. They've
did NCUBA tried to fight it, and it's just been
it's been locked in.

It hasn't moved.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
So the main reason for this lawsuit is Class of
twenty twenty two. They came out this rule, which I
believe if they did in October, there's no problem. Like
the fact that they did it in July. It allowed
this class to get involved, like it was so short
sighted on their plant. Again, if they released this rule
in October, everyone's moved on because not affecting anybody that's
(14:18):
currently playing, right, So they release it in July, and
there was rumblings before that, so then the people who
graduated are like, well, twenty twenty one still had the
COVID year, so everyone before them has been getting.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
Five years because of the COVID.
Speaker 5 (14:36):
So now they're saying everyone after this class gets five years.
So they're the one class that kind of was the
eye man out. So they were upset, right, so they
started following these class action lawsuits and it seems like
the judges have agreed and now we're in this limbo
where we're waiting to see how it plays out. But
(14:56):
it's August and guys are going to join football teams
and guys are going to join you know, like there
have a lot of movement parts of sports that are
going on right now. I Mean we talk about the
main ones of football and basketball, but I'm sure it's
going to affect soccer, It's going to affect you know,
other fall sports.

Yeah, because why wouldn't you take Why would you a
guy that was only team that was good, whatever sport
it was.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Why would the.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Coach go, yeah, come on back, I got your spot,
I got your number one.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
Hundred, Like there's let's get this number. Oh god, that's
another crazy story.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
But there's guys who are league college players that might
not always translate to the pro ranks.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
So there's tons of people who graduated who just.
Speaker 5 (15:40):
Missed out or trying to fight away through a training camp,
you know, trying to fight for a fifty three man
spot that might not work out. They're not trending in
the right way to like I'll go back to college.
Why not go get a couple million dollars? Right, So
it's it's a wild thing. It was short sighted bout
the NCAA yet again in release in July, Like if
(16:00):
you literally wait till October.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
There's no issue. There's no way for them to fight.
The season's already started.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
You know, maybe you get a fight for the second semester,
but it's not what they're dealing with right now.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
So we'll see how it turns out. It looks like.

Over this weekend and there early next week we'll have
it all sorted and then uh, we'll see how these.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Rosters shake out. And it's going to be interesting.

Here's the thing, Dan, like one of the things that
I don't know how you over. I don't know how
it goes back to four years. I don't know how
it doesn't stay at five.

No, it's never going to go back because you know
every other is gonna have an.

Argument, wow year before I may No, this is this is,
this is be permanent. This this is the new rule.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
And for we always wanted to be here anyway.

That was part of our when we created our landscape
and all the rules.

You know, I think we had I want.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
Six years, we had six to play, yeah for five? Yeah,
six to play four or five.

I think we initially said because of the injuries, like
we were giving we were giving more grace to the injuries, right, like,
if a kid tears a ACL twice in college, right,
they should be able to appeal. Maybe it was five years,
but an appeal for six with injuries, right, was what
I think we kind of stuck to.

But yeah, I mean, we'll see. It's crazy.

So it all comes down to this, after the summer,
if Congress gets back involved in this bill in the passes,
that's the only way we're gonna get these some guardrails
on it, and we'll see.

I think they're putting in that bill. I don't. I

the all the quarterbacks where everybody's at. So I have
a list of pathways of the top dozen quarterbacks or so.
All right, so I want to go through them where

they came from and then what to expect, because I
know you're looking at him and you're looking to see
where they're gonna be this year, what happens draft wise,
where do they wind up?

All that stuff.

Yeah, it's gonna be fun.

And and like you know, the guys maches of the world,
and they're saying there could be six quarterbacks in the
first round this twenty twenty seven draft.

Especially one of the greatest drafts of all time. They're
talking about.

This is this is I remember, well, the ultimate draft
was was that the Marinos?
Speaker 2 (22:32):
The eighty two draft, the eighty three draft.

It was the eighty three quarterback draft nineteen eighty three,
Dan Marino.

It was like a bunch him Kelly. It was like
a bunch of quarterbacks. Right.

And then I covered the draft the ninety nine draft. Dude,
I did profiles, like I went and visited all these kids, right.

Ninety nine was nad was Tim mcna Tim couch? Correct?

It was Achille Smith from Oregon he went to Cincinnati.
Was a bust Cave McNown from u c l A
to the Bears.

Who else is that trip? Oh? Uh? Dante Culpepper.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
He was in that draft Central Florida, dude, I went
down here before Central Florida became a decent program. They
were like at smaller D one, right, and Colepepper was
the was the best. He was the fastest kid on
the team. He was out running like I was.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
I was sat. I was watching Tate the get with
the coaches.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
They look watch him out run cornerbacks like he was
out running d backs.
Speaker 5 (23:58):
Man, So they projecked out. But there was you know,
obviously huge college guys that year. I mean, like you know,
McNabb probably had the most successful career.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
No, but your point, to your point, they all was
all flop. Tim Couch is in Kentucky. He didn't do anything.
Killy Smith didn't the way they gave me down to
do anything. I mean, there was one other guy.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
But to your points, in that draft, who was It
wasn't Ricky in that draft or.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
Well, yes he was. Edrid James was in that draft.
But that was supposed to be the quarterback draft. This
quarterback draft, I can't see how it's not a great draft. Like,
let's look at the top quarterbacks that we have this year.
Let's start off with CJ. Carr because I think he
(24:44):
is the best quarterback in the country right now.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Yeah, I wasn't expecting that.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Yes, I love CJ. Carr.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Now he's old school and I don't think he comes out,
but you know he goes. He went to Seline High School,
Michigan and right to Notre Dame.

I love that. Now if I think it's smart for
him to come back.

Because how deep this draft is, right with qps to
wait unless he is obviously a top three guy, right
but in today's nil era, it's smart even if you
are like, I think the number one quarterback is Dante More. Yeah,
he made that decision. He would have been the second
overall pick and he decided to go back right. So
but it's it's different when you're getting seven million dollars

to come back and play quarterback, right, So there's a
there's a little difference in today's world.

But CJ Carr, I love.
Speaker 5 (25:40):
And I love it went to Notre Dame, stayed local,
didn't go too far from where he's from.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
He's a preseason Heisman guy. He's he's an elite guy.

I am interested to see when they're not so run
heavy this year, and it's more on his shoulders how
he stepped out.

Right, it's you got the security blankets in the backfield.

No, listen, you're right, like I say he's the best
because I'm projecting out.

I mean, listen, Dante Moore, the kids stuck right, like
the kids would flat out stut. I want to see
how he rebounds from that championship game.

But for that playoff game, oh yeah, I mean he
got absolutely rocked.

I mean, first played game was pick six when he
played Indian. I want, I'm curious. Now they're loaded, Oregon's loaded. Now,
this is what this is Dante's path, right?

And but five have they ever had Oregon ever had
a quarterback that's really stuck in the NFL?
Speaker 4 (26:46):
Either?
Speaker 2 (26:47):

They have her widespread offense?

Oh yeah, yeah, Herbert, but uh yeah, I mean we'll
see because those guys sometimes the defense when you're playing
that five wide and you're just playing fast and you're
getting out there is little different.

But yeah, let's let's talk about his path.

You got you got a career, you got a career,
back up, going way back.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Who's still in the league. You know what I'm talking about.

tried to make a big trade to get Marcus Mariota
to pair up with Chip Kelly.

Imagine that, Jesus Christ. That would have been a flop.

Uh Dante Moore martin Luther King High School in Detroit.
Five Star went to c l A, started five games
as a true freshman, and then uh interestingly, he transferred
to Oregon and sat behind Dylly Gabriel in twenty twenty four,

which I think that was a great.

Move for him because you got to watch last year.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
Was he was spectacular last year up until the championship game.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
I loved it.

I love when guys say, okay, like they're playing a
long game a little bit, you know, like I'll be
ready for my opportunity if he comes up, but I'm
gonna go learn. I'm not going to rush into this.
And uh yeah, I mean obviously it's worked out for him.
And then he was patient again. So if it keeps
trending in the direction, he should be the number one
overall pick. If things keep going, you know, in his way,
like he's been being patient with it.

And yeah, and with his new rule. Hey, if he
wants to come back, you got another year.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
Aunt, I ain man again, I'm all four coming back
to school. Yeah, man, listen, the NFL was great and
you start the clock and I get it. I understand it,
you know, but like as good as Dante Moore and listen,
I mean, I don't think he's a flop. I think
he's gonna be a stud in the NFL. But there's

always you never know, man, that's the one thing. Once
you get to that league, it's different.

They figure you out quick boy. You gotta yes, yes,
sew the tape on you, and it's it's tough.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
So why not like I go, you know, if I'm
gonna be the number one pick, doesn't matify while I
back another because because now I banked another seven eight mil.
And then I go to the league, I'm gonna be
number one pick, number two pick, whatever, and I'll get
another big deal. Like you know, I'm I'm stacking. Why

why wouldn't I Because God forbid, I'm not the truth?
Then why Yeah, I mean we've seen the guys you
know bus before, oh for sure, And again I don't
I don't think that's the case with not anymore.

But the whole point is you never know real quick.

The Heisman odds just for this upcoming year to let
everybody know it's obviously quarterback driven.

Carr is the favorite at seven hundred.

Arch Manning is plus seven fifty right behind him, and
then it's Dante More at plus one thousand, then Mensa
eleven hundred, Trinidad chay Let's at twelve hundred, Juliansane at
twelve hundred, and then Jeremiah Smith at fourteen hundred.

So first time receiver.

That all right, Well let's look at that so we
can go by those odds. So you mentioned Trindadad Chamblets.
He's been always. He had a fabulous, fabulous kind of
road right, very cool, from Forest Hills at Northern High
(30:45):
School in Michigan to first State. The first State thing
is wild, right, yes to now the old miss he
won the petition uh to get the extra year because
it was the injury. Didn't have the technology, the medical
(31:05):
stuff sould. We wanted him getting this sixth year. And
I'm I'm a Trinidad Chandlers fan. I mean he was
he was awesome last year.
Speaker 5 (31:13):
Yeah, he's so he's so fun to watch, and I
think he's got a shot in this NFL, right, I
mean he doesn't have the prototypical size or you know,
build of a big NFL quarterback, but the guy's a winner, man,
and that goes a lot. He has the intangibles. He
seems to really understand the game. I think he learned
a lot with Lane. You know, hated love him. He's
(31:36):
a really brilliant football mind.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
Yes, so I think he.
Speaker 5 (31:40):
Learned a ton there, and I think he's going to
be successful in NFL, whether it's you know, a mid
tier starter or you know, a lifelong back. I think,
you know, he's not projected in the first round, but
I think if he has another great year, people might
want to take a shot on him. Right, these other
guys are all ahead of him as far as draft
stock goes, but he's got the ails and that weighs

a lot for me.

You mentioned Darien Menzer, Oh boy, I mean look at
his path from Saint Joseph High School out in Cali, Tulane, Duke, Miami.
He went from Tulane to Duke to Miami, and listen,

he's going to have success there, right. He red shirted
in twenty three at Tulane, he breaks out in twenty four,
transfers to Duke in twenty five, froze for almost four
thousand yards and thirty four touchdowns with just six interceptions.
He wins the ACC Championship and his championship game MVP,
(32:48):
and then he goes to Miami to replace Carson Beck.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
And I'm very close with the Duke's staff.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
You know, they had a very public and il dispute
because they signed it for two years.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
When they got him, they knew what they had.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
They were like, this guy is it like they say,
the way he throws the ball, he's an NFL surefire. Yeah,
he's got it all. Now, he was at Duke, so
he wasn't on the biggest stage. But those guys who
I really trust their football knowledge, said he's a big
time and he has a huge pro arm. And I'm
excited to see what he does in Miami. I kind
(33:22):
of wish he was stuck at Duke. He signed a
two year deal, but that's that's just nil, right, there's
no there's not enough guardrails you can get out of it.

Right.
Speaker 5 (33:28):
You decide you want to go, you go. So, yeah, man,
he's big time. And I see him rising up the
board to share.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
Yeah. Yeah, he he fits the profile. Brother fits the profile.
He's got it all.

coaches that have been through at different levels, high school coaches,
college coaches, even sprinkling some youth coaches. Like we're gonna
attack it from a lot of different angles and really
(35:20):
give a cool insight in different perspective of this world
and how it's evolving, where it was, where we're going,
what it is now.

So you know, as a.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
Long time you know national sports guy, he's a father
now me and my journey as an athletic director and
how I've navigated that and bringing all this knowledge together
and bringing you some really cool guests along the way.
We're excited. Man, it's gonna be a really cool thing
that we're gonna you know, piggyback with.

time college football and basketball, you know, going back to
the nineties. Right, So like all this stuff and all
these coaches in the world changing, it's fascinating stuff fascinating.
So let me get back to these quarterbacks. You know

we had a wild journey. Is that Sam Levitt?

I was waiting for you to bring him up. He's
my sleeperrant. I love him.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Look at this, Look at this. He goes from Westview
High School in Oregon, Pleasant Grove High School in Utah,
Westview High School, West Lynne High School, then Michigan State,
then Arizona State, and now he's with Lane at LSU,
and people go, people say that Levitt is going to
(36:56):
have a huge year.
Speaker 5 (36:58):
So for one, and I don't love his path, but
I love his arm. I love what I'm saying. And
I think with Lane, the knowledge will gain offensively and
the system will run. He's got a big arm, He's athletic,
he can make every throw. I see him really flying
up the draft boards. Now, look, I transferred to find
(37:21):
the right spot. I don't love that he transferred that much.
That does played at three high schools, three high school,
three colleges, Like I understand, it's more common in college now.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
I don't love that.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
But talent wise, he's got it, man, And I think
with Lane, I think that was a perfect spot from
the land. And I'm excited to see how he grows
this year.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
I think he's gonna have a huge year. And I
think he's Yeah, I think he's big time man.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
Yeah.

What he's really He's a great athlete. He could move
very mobile and he and he does. He's got a
great arm. The fact that he's just mobile, you know,
he's sold. I mean, he just he dominated when he
was at Arizona State, he dominated.
Speaker 4 (38:04):
He can make every throw in the field.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
Yeah, yeah, Uh, how about that Julian saying talking about
the best spot of all the quarterbacks. Oh my god,
to have that group of receivers and listen, I thought
he played well, like a click for him middle of
the year and he made all the right froze like.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
He's got a good temperament.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
It's easy to say, well, look who's struggling to but
you still got to go do it and the kids
got a great head on his shoulder, right, you know,
we know his path. He was a five star from Carlsbad,
signed with with Alabama and then Nick Saban retired and
he went to Ohio State.
Speaker 5 (38:51):
Yeah, he's a competitor. I think he's got the intangibles.
I think he's a leader. I really like his ability.
I mean he's got two he's got too, you know,
Mercedes Benz. Yeah, on the outside. I mean he's got everything.
He's got the maseratis, he's got it all out there.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
Man.
Speaker 5 (39:07):
I mean I've seen Chris Henry, I mean jere Smith.
I mean, they're they're unbelievable. They're running back room elite.
I mean they're running back. Their backup running back I
had at Saint Chose Prep is Isaiah West and he's
an absolute stud. He played last year as a true freshman,
but he was like third, Like right, that room is stacked,
(39:28):
the receiver room is stacked, and I think he I
mean he's gonna have a huge year this year.
Speaker 2 (39:35):
Yeah, huge years.
Speaker 4 (39:37):
He really good athlete, Yeah, tough.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
You know what we talked about.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
As a freshman, he had a seventy seven completion rate.
Speaker 5 (39:46):
Yeah, he's smart man, he's got he sees the field.
An he sees the field.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
And then you got h Gunner Stockton, Raven County, Georgia,
right like stay he's home. The ultimate development story. A
Georgia kid who sat and sat and sat, and then
finally took over and again. Man, he threw for like
(40:13):
almost three thousand yards, twenty four touchdowns, only five interceptions.
He ran for another four in sixty two yards another
ten touchdowns.
Speaker 5 (40:23):
All right, I love I love that he stayed. He
was resilient. You know, he didn't run from the competition.
He waited his time out, and now he's having an opportunity.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
So I'm room for him. I don't know how he
translates to the next level.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
But yeah, I don't see the next level. I don't
see it.
Speaker 5 (40:38):
Maybe back up, maybe he's the seventh round guy, you know,
later later round draft pick or unsigned undrafted, but he's
a I love his journey and I'm excited to see
what he does is here at Georgia.

You know, Josh Hoover is another one is interesting, right,
He's that Indiana and out had real success at TCU. Right,
Texas quarterback, Texas kid, He's another one that's gonna be interesting.

I'm locked in. You get me even fired up in
