Wimby coming into Madison Square. Guardian, that's what the league wants.

line is the better team won, and they proved it

Spurs had done against this Thunder team during the regular season,
but the fact remains is that the better team won.
The Spurs right now are a better team than the

the game, Shaye Gilgis Alexander just sat there pretty much
stoneface saying, you know, it's really tough to win a championship.

I mean. And they were, you know, congratulating san Antonio
before the game even end they knew what was up.
So and then you talk about Chet Holmgren, who didn't
even take a shot in the second half, took two
shots in the entire game, and his reaction after the
game was, well, you know, it's about the team. It's

you know, and so we talked about this OKAC team
last year when unexpectedly they got extended to seven games
by what we thought was an inferior Indiana team, and
Haliburton was playing out of his mind. But just the
reaction of this Oka Seed team after winning the championship

have been surprised at that kind of attitude, which, by
the way, starts with Shay Gilgess. Alexander should carry over

for Kobe Bryant. And that's what I'm seeing from Wimby.
He has got that emotion. He wants to be legendary,

he wants to be a multi time champion. Uh and
so this streak of eight in a row, uh barring injury,
and you know, heaven forbid something happens to him physically.
But if he can stay in the court, I mean,
we could have said the same thing about Bill Walton
back in the day. If Walton had stayed, the Blazers
would have rattled up championship. You know what I mean.

But I mean, if Wemby can stay out of the court,
with his attitude, with the nucleus of young talent they
have around him, with Castle and Harper and everybody else
on this team, Champannee, I.

in place right now to finally break this the streak
of just you know, anonymous, one and done champions in

he's got a two headed monster with a bunch of

an Eastern Conference without having to face the top two seeds.
Didn't have to face Detroit, didn't have to face Boston.
They also had to play teams that were coming off

seven game series. And by the way, they're going to
have another opponent coming off a seven game series. Now,
to the Knicks credit, they've been playing really good basketball.
The offense, which had been pretty much dormant most of
the season, all of a sudden is ignited during the postseason.
But there is this thought about the New York Knicks,
at least in the circle of fans in New York,

that the Knicks are getting ready for a party. Like
you know, it's been since nineteen seventy three that the
New York Knicks were crowned NBA champions, so they are
ready for a party. And going into the series between
Ocasey and San Antonio. They were like, well, we definitely
want to take on San Antonio. Knicks have more experienced.

San Antonio's a young team. OK, see that could be
tough because they get us come off a championship. So
there is this thought in New York that this has
played out perfectly for them, and then the Vegas odds
came out last night. I mean this, according to the
Vegas odds makers, this is as one sided a matchup

as you're ever going to see in the NBA Finals.
The Spurs are so.

Overwhelmingly favored by Vegas on this series that any entertainment
of thought that the Knicks.

Are going to actually win this series is pure fantasy.
So let's get into this right now, VJA. Because we
did not think before the season began that the San
Antonio Spurs were going to be ready before the season.

As the season progressed and they became a sixty win team,
it was obviously we're on a fast track to get there.

If not this year, very soon. The Knicks, on the
other hand, were one of the teams we thought would
come out of the East with the Jason Tatum injury
and Haliburton out, So we were looking at the Calves.
We weren't sure if Detroit was ready for prime time.
But the Calves and then Nicks, you know, based on
what they had done before, the Knicks and the Calves
seem to be the teams that were there, and ultimately,

ironically they ended up in the Eastern Conference Finals. But
this Knicks team has won eleven straight postseason games. They're
absolutely rolling right now. So just let's play fantasy for
a second, because I think you and I are both
of the same mindset as far as how this NBA
Final is going to play out. But let's play fantasy
for a second.

Let's blink, let's close our eyes, and the Knicks have
just won the NBA Championship. They've beaten the Spurs in
the NBA Finals. How did it happen? How did the
Knicks win this series?

Victor win bin Yama got COVID and had to quarantine
for the entire finals. That's their only shot at VI
nine gonna plan. I'm not wishing out on him. I'm
talking to cheek and joking. But they're they're they're not
gonna win this finals. They're listen, the Spurs are the
best team in the NBA. They are and they've been
the best team in the NBA all year long and

saying it in February, January, and March. All right, cool,

a man putting people in position to win, like goodness, gracious,
but the Spurs are just it's starting to almost feel

But then but when they reset, you better get in there, man,

While they're resetting in the Western Conference, because once they reset.
Do you know yesterday was only the fifth time a
Western Conference finals went to a game seven in the
last twenty six years, which means the Western Conference team
that gets to the they've been they're dominating. No one's
giving them no resistance. They're getting to the finals. Whoever
Western Conference team gets to the finals, they.

Man, if for five times in the last twenty six
that's an amazing stat. When I look that up, I
was like a doubt would have thought there'd have been

Never had this long of a seaton. Look, last year
he was hurt, right, so he missed half the year,
and then it comes back this year. No playoffs obviously,
so it's like a second scene, like you're playing two

I mean, you know, Brunton obviously is their leader. He's
gonna have to play ridiculously well, averaging what broke. At

in the East, is the energy level they are playing

to what we just saw in these Western Conference finals,

is is that the NBA has had a very successful
playoff run this year. There has been a really good run.
By the way, they've already tied the record for most
game sevens in a single postseason in NBA history.

You and I said that going into the playoffs that
the NBA needed a great posting to save what was
the debacle of the regular season.

Absolutely, so they've had a great postseason that we've been
talking about, and as far as Major League Baseball is concerned,
major League Baseball, for the first time in the long time,
over the last couple of years, has actually become a
cool sport. A young generation is latching onto baseball. It's
a TikTok sport and people are now talking about baseball.

So we are we are at a time when look,
NFL's got OTAs going on right now, they're out on
the field. I mean normally we in the past, it
wasn't all that long ago that, like, you know, we're
just latching onto OTAs because we know after that there's
going to be a layoff and then we got dog
days this summer, and when don't have to talk about OTAs.

So I mean, there's plenty of NFL we can get to.
We can always talk NFL, right, but the fact is,
there's enough news coming out of the NBA, there's enough
news coming out of Major League Baseball right now that
we don't have to sit there and use the NFL
as a crutch at this time of the year to
get into the long days of summer. So I as
an all sports fan, and one.

Of the reasons VJ looking back that I left my
job with the Raiders at age thirty and had been
there four and a half years, and Raiders had big

sided the fact that the Knicks are back there for
the first time, this is a rematch by the way

series in five games. And the fact that we can
talk some Major League Baseball right now, that to me
is a really good thing currently in the world of sports.

I tell you, that's what Major League baseball, and we've

hundred and forty million. And Rob Manford had the goal.
They say, well, this is what the people want. Okay,
I got a little news for the commission. You know
what the people want. They want baseball, that's what they want.
They certainly don't want a stoppage of the game. And

the idea of trying to force a salary cap. The
last time they did this was nineteen ninety four. That's
the last time that a salary cap was on the table.
It wiped out an entire postseason and they didn't even
start the next year until eighteen games into the year.
It is dead on a and the reason it's dead
on arrival. Is that the Major League Baseball Players Union

is not only the strongest union in sports, it's the
strongest union in America. They never break ranks ever, So
this is there is no conversation.

It's obvious that the owners are going to lock out
the players come December first, when the collective bargaining Agreement ends,
and that's going to be it. And unless they get
off of this idea of a salary cap, there will
be no major League Baseball. The union will not bend,
they will not break, they will not there will be
nothing zero. So you know emone is like, well, what's

the answer. Well, the answer to me, there's there's a
there's an answer. Let me give you an answer there,
all right.

So the secret to the NFL was a vision that
p Roselle had way back in the nineteen sixties. How
can the Green Bay Packers compete with the New York Giants.
How you got small market team in Green Bay, you
got the biggest market team in the Giants. How can
we make him compete? And he made that decision early

on as the network television was beginning to invest money
in the NFL, that they will have an equal split
of the network money, and that's how they've operated all
these years. And by the way, whatever that cut of
the pie is for each NFL team coincides with the
salary cap every year in the NFL, so it's the

exact same number. So each team gets two hundred and
fifty million whatever it is. That's the salary cap, meaning
as far as salary is concerned, that money has already
taken care of for every NFL team.

Major League Baseball is different. It's regional, okay, So the
Dodgers have a huge TV deal that affords them a
lot of money, or the New York Yankees with the
Yes network and other teams don't have those kind of
network deals. So if you can convince the owners, whatever
their team deals are, regional or wherever they're getting their money,

to pull it all into one big conglomerate of money
and then distribute it equally to all the major Yeah,
if you do that, then you don't have to worry
about a cap, or if you do put a cap
in place, the money is taken care of for every
single team. They're not going to do that though, They're

not going to do that. So's that's the problem with
Major League Baseball is the owners don't want to share
amongst themselves, and because they don't want to share, they're
trying to come up with some kakamamie idea of a
salary cap for Major League Baseball. So I'm sorry, Commissioner,
your idea that, well, this is what the fans want. No,

the fans just want you to play baseball, and especially
now because for the first time in the long time,
there's a coolness level in baseball that we haven't seen.
It's a TikTok sport. There's a younger generation with the
international stars that we have in baseball right now, the
world's watching. You're gonna screw this thing up because of
your insistence on a salary cap. How about forcing owners

that are spending what fifty million dollars a year on payroll,
how about forcing them to actually start spending their money.
Because all of these teams are owned by billionaires. They
have the money, they just don't want to spend it.
So until you really put your foot down to the owners,
forget the players. Put it down to the owners. Be
like the Dodgers, be like the Mats, be like these

organizations are willing to spend money. All teams should have
that kind of ownership. We are in serious trouble if
baseball has a shutdown, I don't know when they're going
to open their doors. Two things.

again because literally we have no police force to cover

putting a strain on things, how New York. I mean,
if they get close, I mean, if they come down
to like we could clinched it today. We've got three

think that is the bare minimum. You look at it,
and at this moment in time, he is about twenty
five twenty four to twenty five innings behind Sanchez right now.
And I'm not saying that winds above replacement is everything,
and it's not. It's one of the ways one of

the metrics. And one thing that I like about winds
above replacement is that it does reward bulk. It rewards
the number of innings. Because I'm a big believer that goodness,
you start thinking about a spread of twenty five innings,
If that twenty five innings spread becomes fifty innings by
the end of the season, then you're talking about almost

depending on how many innings per start, six or seven
innings or six or seven stars rather worth of high quality.
Difference between Sanchez and Show He and six starts worth
of quality above and beyond Sanchez over Otani is a
massive difference. So I think that the minimum, the bare

minimum for me, is about one hundred and forty. And
if you're talking at the end about comparable maybe not
the same, but comparable dominance from Sanchez versus Show Hey,
and and if Sanchez is is fifty innings above Show A,
or even forty or forty five innings, it's going to

be really hard in my estimation, for Show A to
make that up. And by the way, it's not just Sanchez,
it's Miserowski too. Miserowski has about twenty innings more than
show He and again Show A's era is point eight too.
It is microscopic, but Sanchez is one point four to seven,
