Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio living the dream?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
What's a game year on a fully loaded NFL Sunday.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
This is End Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
We are here in the Fox Sports Radio studios and
by days end well, final four will be set for
this year's NFL playoffs. We're two hours away from kickoff
between the Patriots and the Texans, and then later tonight
in fred in Chicago, the Bears will be hosting the Rams.
(00:32):
Two teams are in. Two teams will join them in
a final four in the NFL Vjay coming down the
stretch right now in the National Football League. And we
got plenty of talk about what happened in the games yesterday,
and obviously we'll have plenty of talk about get ready
for these games today.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
It was quite a week, it was. It was not
only quite a week. And you can cut the music.
You cut the music. I'm still in the first five minutes.
I'm highjacking the show for a second here, guy, because Tuesday,
as you all know, we were interrupted about a month
and a half ago where the president of the Southern
California Sports Broadcast Hall of Fame came in and interrupted
(01:11):
our show to start the show to let this gentleman
sit into my left know that of its forty years
of service of TV and radio and all the best
sports stores, including his Raiders stories in the business, was.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Being inducted into the Hall of Fame. And it was
a moment.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
It was It was a moment for everybody here who
has been working Monty one of the best anchors in
the business.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
She's had a show with him.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Rich Orenberger, who I now sit in his seat on
the end Zone show, was on the phone and.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
I go to this event.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
I told see I'm gonna be there, man, I'm gonna
beat o Yke, I'm gonna be there. I'm gonna be there,
he finally says me. An information. And I get suited
and booted, looking good, feeling good, smelling.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Good the way I do.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
And I show up and I want to start by
just number one, saying congratulations again to you, thank you
for being inducted into such an illustrious group of company.
I had no idea that the Southern californ for your
Sports Broadcast Hall of Fame was what it is. I
was oblivious, ladies and gentlemen. I had no idea. But
I just want to just say this really fast. When
(02:09):
I got the word that I was gonna be sitting
in the sea. I know there were different opinions, and
I know there were different people that spoke, but I
know there was one voice that probably sealed the deal for.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Me, and I was the guy that was sitting that's
sitting here next to my left.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
And I want to tell you guys, I know who
I'm sitting next to, but I didn't know who I
was sitting next to, If that makes sense.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
I know who I sit next to every Sunday.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
We've done fifty sixty shows together before they put us together,
and now we've been together almost a year. We started
and made it officially Hartman and Husky last March of
twenty five to watch at least ten or twelve out
of what the fifteen sixteen people that went on stage
to get their various yearly awards and lifetime Achievement awards
and get inducted into the Hall of Fame and call
it a year and sideline Report of the Year and
(02:51):
live Game of the Year and spanishing out to the year.
All these guys go up there and at least out
of the fifteen sixteen, ten of them look down to
their left and they say so about Steve Hartman. They
don't have to do it, but they do it because
of the service that this man is given in this business.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
And you guys know, this isn't sucking up, this isn't
kiss as.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
This is from my heart because I met this man's
lovely children, I met his lovely sister. Eric Dickerson inducted him.
Eric Dickerson is still the single seasonally twenty.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
One oh five.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
I know the number, twenty one oh five. Nobody's still
broken it. He was there, Jim Hill, the legend of
Southern California sports broadcasting, and everyone has something to say
to him.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
About how he's helped people.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
But Steve, I listen, man, I told you I felt
so underachieved the first hour I did Steve, I felt
so underachieved. And I really looked up to the ceiling
and I go, God, how am I in this room?
And I'm being serious with you, guys. This isn't radio talk.
I'm being real, I'm being vulnerable. I'm being transparent. I
really was sitting there and almost in tears, like, how
(03:55):
am I here?
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Why am I sitting? And I was the last guy.
My table was in the back. What's back.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
I sat on the back end and I slid my chair.
I looked to the right, I looked to the left.
There was no one sitting beside that. I was the
last guy in the room. But I was there for
a reason. And Steve told me I was there for
a reason. And Rashan Haylock, a great friend of ours,
told me I was there for a reason.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
Man.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
And I just want to tell you, sir, honestly, respectfully,
I love you.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
We've talked very personally off the air.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
You know stuff I got going on on my life
that a lot of people don't know. You've always been
very inspirational. You've always told me keep my head up.
You've always told me cheap working, cheap working VJ. And
the accolades will come, the notoriety will come. Put your
head down, Like Jim Hill used to say, sleep little
and work like hell in between. Outwork the room, outwork.
(04:46):
Everybody show up prepared. Never say no. Always pick your
keys up and put your shirt, your tie and grab
jacket and get out the door and get to where
you need to be. But to meet your lovely sister,
Denise is outstanding you, your beautiful children.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
At one point I pulled the three or.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
I said, let me tell you, let me explain something
to you guys, and say, you see that man right there,
you better tell him you every day, every day, you
tell that man how much you love him. Because Steve Hartman,
he never did it for us, guys. It was never front.
We come sit in this chair, and our job is
the educating entertained. As you taught me. I learned that
from you. Our job is the educating entertained. But he
(05:21):
did it for four people. And that's the respect I
see from another man. When I see his three grown children,
these aren't they're grown sitting there in all their dad
I grat I pulled them all aside. I said, he's
slightly become a slight father figure to me because my
father's not in my life. And when I talked to him,
he didn't talk to me, almost like a friend. He
taught to me almost like another son of his or
another young man that he sees going through something and they.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Can do this business like VJ can be something.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
In this And to hear words like that from you,
and to meet your family and your lovely sister and
miss Denise Man and as you know, I'm now uncle VJ.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
You are uncle y'all can't get the heart. You can't
get rid of me.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
I ain't going no damn where, And tell miss Denise
a woman to my all these metacos, I'm not playing,
but to you, man.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Thank you for encouraging me to be there.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Thank you for encouraging me to keep my head up
going through what I'm going through, and to keep showing
up and to keep working. I left that room so
inspired that day. I felt my life changed. And I
didn't I didn't get it. I didn't get an award anything,
but the simple fact that on that stage you and
you said my name, and I was standing next to Denise,
and she rub me on my back, she goes, he
speaks very highly of you. And I didn't know that, man,
(06:27):
And I just want to tell you, thank you. I
knew who I was sitting next to, but I had
no idea who the hell I'm sitting next to.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
But I do now.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Well, thank you, BJ, I know who I'm sitting next to.
Some of it belonged in that room, and you'll be
there many many, many, many many many years on it now.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
I plan on it now. Man. It was.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
It was a wonderful day and to be there was
my family and my friends and catching up with a
lot of people I don't obviously to see.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
You know, you know, it's sort of us.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
It's a small nucleus of people in any business that
you're in, right, you know, you like you know people.
And he crossed paths with the same people year after
year after year.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
You know.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
I saw Billy Mack Bill Rollo, who's the voice of
the Lakers on television. I did a TV show with
Billy Mack that he hosted in nineteen ninety one.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Thirty five years ago, and we were sort of reminiscing about.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
We were like young guys, and you know, we're so
like the young guys in the bit like when are
we going to sort of have our time that he
looks at me, he.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Goes, now, we're the old guys. You know, that's what happens.
But you know, it's a great business.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
And you know, as I said, you know my father
who told me a couple of times, you know, it's
talking sports is not exactly a real job. So but
he said it half chips because he was my biggest fan.
But he said, I said, you're right, dab it's a
hell of a way to make a living, and that's
for sure, and so we are very very privileged, you know, VJ.
We got a lot to do, yes, and you know,
(07:50):
before we get to today's games, we got to talk
about what happened yesterday, and we have to talk about
so yesterday I sat in for Jason Finn's I did
the show at buck Rising during that game between the
Bills and the Broncos. So we were on the air,
you know, during that game, and you know, you said
(08:11):
something coming in that I was thinking, you'd like we
all feel like everybody was rooting for the Bills, like
you know, Josh Allen, like.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
You know, all these ars.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Yeah, so many times like this, this would be such
a great story for the NFL.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Right.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
A lot of times we get to the Super Bowl,
and you know, I've covered many Super Bowls over the years,
and then you sort of figure out this is the
way it was supposed to be, Like there was a
storyline that was so obvious, whether it was the Harbor
brothers going against each other. So you have a lot
of times when you finally get to the final two
and you're like, yeah, that's what was supposed to be
(08:48):
so a lot of people were just feeling with Kansas
City out of the way. Obviously he had been zero
and four against Mahomes that this was going to be
his run. And they fell into a whole early. You know,
he had the fumble right before they have that gave
them field goals. So there and now they're down twenty
three to ten. Then he brings them back and they
take the late twenty four to twenty three and then
(09:08):
give Bo Nick's credit, that passed the mimsh Man was
sheer perfection.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
So at that point, fifty.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Five seconds to go, you know, can can Josh Allen
at least get a field goal to tie it?
Speaker 1 (09:21):
So that's when things went sideways.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
So it started with that deep pass in the end
zone and I'm watching and I'm like, cause they're showing
the replay and you know, the Denver defender has been
beat on the play.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
He literally grabs not one, both hands.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
No flag, and I'm like, what what just happened? Buck
is on the other end, you know, he's like, man,
oh man, what how is that not a penalty? I go,
I have no idea. How is that a no call?
They do get the field goal, so they go to overtime.
Denver punts this all he needs a field goal. That's it,
(10:02):
game over and he will win. And he throws that pass,
the Cooks makes a great catch, goes down and then
next thing you know, Barco comes up with the ball. Okay,
well he was down. No interception. It's like whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
whoa whoah. Then you see the replay and you're like, Okay,
(10:25):
does he have control of the ball yes, is he
on the ground yes?
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Has he been touched by the defender yes?
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Playover doesn't matter if he ripped the ball out of
his hands afterwards and they gave him the interception and
that was it. Denber goes down. By the way, the
first pass interference call was a bogus call.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Second one was legit, but second one was legit.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Yeah, second one was, and then the first one, remember
they had a roughing the passer. It would have been
a fifty anyway, but it just was like I thought
you wanted Buffalo. That's the story. The Bills are in
the super Bowl. That is an amazing story, Josh Allen.
Bills have never won a Super Bowl, Josh, I mean,
that is the story. That is so big for the NFL.
(11:11):
So you know, I picked the Bills to win that game.
I thought they were going to win that game.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
I thought Josh.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
And by the way, this is not to excuse Josh
Allen and all the turnovers and he missed some passes.
You know that he definitely would like to have back.
You can see the frustration he was crying after the
game of the press conference.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
But man, oh man VJ.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
It is so frustrating to me, and not just this game,
when officials are making calls or non calls that are
affecting the outcome of games, especially a game of this magnitude.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
As a fan watching at just I thought.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
It would have been cool if they had come together
and say, look, let's just call it an incomplete pass
because we can't.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
You can't. What's a catch?
Speaker 3 (11:56):
Like we go all the way back to Megatron in
week one, I forget whatever. I'm sure you know the
year which was really funny because everyone that was everyone's
big remember.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
To you at the Hall of Fame speeches, this is
the Stack team right here. Man.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
When you see other people in the business that's been
doing this thirty, forty fifty years and they say it,
it's the truth. This is the stack Tam right now.
So I'm sure you remember what. Yeah, I just remember
the game. It's Week one, it's up in Soldier Field.
Megatron goes up, comes down, the feet on the ground,
knees on the ground, and he just leaves the ball
there and they call it an incomplete pass. And that
started this run of what's a catch. And I'm trying
(12:29):
to figure out how is that not a catch for Cooks.
Like you said, I have the ball, I'm coming down. Yes,
you're pulling it. But once I hit the ground and
we both have the ball, Ty goes to the runner.
Ty goes to the runner. That's the way it's always been.
And you flipped the game on that, And that to
me is and I know people expect me to get
(12:50):
on air and beg on Josh Allen. I call him
Josh Apple turnover Allen. You don't excuse the four turnovers,
but it's hard for me to sit here today as
a radio guy of realness and say they lost because
of him, even with four turnovers. Now, I will say,
if you put that ball out a little further right,
if you put that because Cook's got Cooks has got wheels,
(13:12):
he's got jets, all right, He's got what we call
back in the DNV. He's got feats. That's what we
say with somebody's fast, Like yeah, man, that kid got feats.
I mean he can scoop, he can move if you.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Put it out a little further.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
That's the only critique. But I'm not gonna I'm gonna
surprise you. I'm not gonna take today's opportunity and dump
on Josh Allen because as a man of vulnabiliy and
man of emotion to myself, I watched that press conference
and I could Joe and call him cry baby man.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
I kind of felt for the guy.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
I really did, because the one thing people don't get
in this business, especially in the.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
NFL, when you're a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
I watched Richard Jefferson sit on that dumb ass podcast
with him and Kendrick Perkins and try to knock people
saying the quarterback is the most important position in sports.
You don't play deep man, shut your ass up, and said,
these NBA players shut up and sit down and don't
talk about football.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Y'all know nothing about it. That's why you play soft basketball.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
And I love bass, but it ain't football, Okay, But
when you're a cornerback and you're the franchise guy, everything
everything from radio, TV, fans, social media, front office, coaches,
it all falls on you. And now he's got to
carry this another off season.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
I'm not going to like you said, he misthrows.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
I mean he had his tight as wide open, and.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
But yeah, he missk twice. He miss knocks once and
he missed k twice.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
So but again, I just I just the calls at
the end, when an officials call or non call is
the difference in the game potentially even potentially that that
just irks me as a fan. All Right, we got
a lot to do.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
We'll talk obviously about Seattle's domination of San Francisco yesterday.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
We'll review the games today.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Nine NFL coaching vacancies, two have been filled. Are they
the right moves for the Giants and the Falcons. We're
gonna break it all down. This is end Zone Radio.

you don't like. Just search Fox Sports Radio on YouTube

right now that a lot of people are gonna be
upset about. But at least I'm consistent. So John Harbaugh
is now the coach of the.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
New York Giants, and uh, you know that is.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
What a deal for the Giants, stability to the organization. Great,
we are one of the great coaches out there. They
scored on John Harbaugh. All right, here's here's the truth
about John Harbaugh as a person. One of the great
guys ever. He is universally loved. Everybody loves John Harbaugh.
(16:43):
He's that kind of a guy. Give you the shirt
off his back. Everybody in the media loves John Harbaugh.
NFL people love John. Everyone loves John Harbor. Great, great guy,
great guy. So he was with You know, we talk
about the stability of the Steelers, right, you know since
nineteen sixty nine, three coaches. Well how about the stability
(17:04):
of the Ravens. They've had two coaches since nineteen ninety nine.
Brian Bellick was there for nine years, won a Super Bowl,
and then Harvar was there the last eighteen years. It
has been one of the few truly steady organizations in
the NFL. The genius behind their personnel decisions Ozzie Newsom,
who's still with the organization, although not specifically in the
(17:28):
general manager role. So, as a coach, in order to
be successful, you need a lot of things. You need
an organization that is committed to winning, which is what
the Ravens have been ever since they left Cleveland. You
think about the Ravens very first draft nineteen ninety six,
the first y after leaving Cleveland come to Baltimore. They
(17:50):
had two first round picks, Jonathan Auten and ray Lewis. Yes, sir,
that's a good start.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (17:56):
And so.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
When Brian Bellick handed it all off to John Harbaugh.
And by the way, they had a five and eleven
season the year before Harbaugh was there. Two years before
that they were thirteen and three. So Billa had one
really bad year. They decided to make a change. So
John Harbaugh comes in and he inherits a defense that
features all time legends. I mean, we're talking about ray
(18:19):
Lewis and Ed Reid, both first ballot Hall of famers already,
and Torell Suggs, who will be in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Don't forget about goose Ap. There were a lot of
guys on that defense. Goo Okay.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
So they he inherited a great defense, and that defense
was still intact when he won his one Super Bowl,
still intact when he won that Super Bowl ray Lewis's
final season. Here's the fact about John Harbaugh in the
last eleven years, eleven seasons, he has won three playoff games,
(18:52):
and eight of those seasons he has a two time
MVP as his quarterback. So the idea that he did
not that he is somehow a builder of organizations. Coaches
don't build organizations. Organizations are built from the top. And
he is going to an organization that bears no resemblance
(19:14):
to the organization he just left. The Giants have been
in disarray ever since Tom Coughlin left. Every couple of
years a new coach right coach, And the idea that
John Harbaugh is just going to study the ship is
pure fantasy. I said that John Harbaugh will do for
the Giants what Pete Carroll did for the Raiders. And
(19:37):
this is not a knock on either one. It's not
that John Harbaugh can't coach. He can coach, So could
Pete Carroll. Did Pete Carroll forget out of coach when
he went to the Raiders?
Speaker 1 (19:45):
No?
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Look like where he goes to an organization in disarray.
So again, a coach can only be as good as
the organization around him. And then on top of that, VJ,
we have this delay before officially it came out that
he has this five year, twenty million dollar a year
deal because he had stated publicly that he wanted twenty
(20:09):
million a year and he wanted final say on the roster.
They have a general manager the Giants. He did not
like that. Let's be clear, I'm the general manager and
John Harbaugh has never been that. So what impact is
John Harbaugh going to have on the Giants? Next to none,
(20:30):
because it's not a good team. They don't have personnel.
They stop to decide whether or not Dart is a
franchise quarterback, and so he is not a miracle worker
by any stretch of the imagination. So my guess is
the Giants are going to look very familiar to those
that were outraged by what's happened to the Giants in
recent years. I have no faith that John Harbaugh is
(20:53):
some kind of miracle worker that's going to turn around
an organization that is in total disarray.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
Out that you are officially you got your plague, You're
an official Hall of Famer, and now I can I
feel like I could really just tear your some of
your beans. Yes that was I was trying a little
water before because you gotta show respect him.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
Yeah, you did that. You gotta show respect. Now we going.
Now we're family. You're gonna show me respect. You say
what you have to pay. We're brothers. Now, yeah, we
going right in? All right. So, first of all, you
love Jackson Dart.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
You've always loved Jackson Dart, But now all of a sudden,
you don't know if he's the guy. John Harball has
one hundred and eighty eight of the Ravens career, of
their franchisees they've been in Baltimore. Think these two seventy
three wins, he got one hundred and eighty eight of those.
You could say he had a defense. Beso did Mike Tomlin?
I have this question. If John Harball is so overrated,
then what is Mike Tomlin? John Harball has more playoff
(21:44):
wins thirteen to nine. He has more, he's coached in
more playoff games, twenty four to twenty. And you say
he owned Harball, but it was twenty four to nineteen,
like that was the record twenty four, nineteen two and
two in the playoffs. So they played four times in
the playoffs. They spliting on them. That's a five game
difference over eighteen years. That's one extra win every four
(22:06):
and a half to five years.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
That's not owning somebody. The NFL.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
What the problem they've had is they I thought we
got into a system coach hiring thing, right, the wonder
kids McVeigh, Lafleur, Shanahan, Mike McDaniel, Ben Johnson, these guys
that have these wonder kid offenses in this system, and
it's gonna pop for a little while. Like I'll be
honest with you, Chicago's success is not gonna be long.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
It won't.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Trust me, it won't be long because you can't continue
to have a quarterback that completes forty fifty seven fifty
eight percent of his passes and I think that's gonna be
sustainable for six, seven, eight years.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
No, it won't.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
It will fall at some point. They're not gonna be
plus eighteen to turnover differential next year. Okay, just like
these teams that win these lay games, are these teams
that win these one score games the following year it flips.
It's not sustainable. You know what is sustainable culture? I
got a list of guys, and you see I don't
have no paper in front of me. I really went
over this this week. Bill Parcells, Coulture, Guy Super Bowls.
(23:00):
Take everybody to the Super Bowl, Take everybody to the
conference championship. Bill Belichick, colture guy, even Dan Campbell. That
not the best play calling when he took over play
calling and w worse for the miship. But you know
what he built there, cause Chris knows a culture. John
Harball culture. I never thought Tomlin was a great coach.
I thought it was a really good coach.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
He's the same type of guy's hardball.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
You love him. He walks in the room, he owns
the room, he owns the press conference. He has a
bunch of quotes that you're gonna loves. He's a he's
a fun loving guy. He's an aggressive guy. He's straight
for it. He doesn't bes, he's not passive. Aggressive, he's
gonna tell you what it is. Vulnerable, emotional, all of that.
But he knows how to put the right the right
system people around him. But he builds and carries on
a culture. The Giants don't need system.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Guy.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
You know what the Giants record is since Tom Coughlin.
You're gonna love this one fifty five, one oh nine
and one since Tom Coughlin. You know, why go look
at the coaches. What was Joe judge culture guy? What
was Brian Dable cornerback? Whisper?
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Right?
Speaker 3 (23:56):
Oh we got Daniel Jo, So let's go get Brian Dad.
How's a that work out for you? You have a
guy now who may not be the best owing you
know what they should do first? The first call they
need to hit as far as the coordinator, Fine, man,
Mike mcdan, don't get a job. Bring him in as
your coordinator. You put him with Jackson Dart and Malik
Neighbors and other weapons you have there.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Listen, man, I'm sorry, said it again? Oh monkey, Oh
Monkey is gonna go and okay, so Monkey's gonna.
Speaker 6 (24:20):
Go with him?
Speaker 3 (24:21):
Okay, but you get what I'm saying though, right, do
you need a culture changer?
Speaker 1 (24:26):
The Giants need a culture changer.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
You can win games by bringing in a different culture
with the current guys that have already been there, because
culture is fundamentals. How do you show up? How early
are you? How discipline are you? How accountable are you?
That's got nothing to do with x's and o's in
the NFL. The NFL has fallen to let's get the
x's and o's coaches in here and now these cultures
are what's what Shanahan's really He's done a great job.
(24:52):
But yesterday, blame it on injuries or whatever. They got
lam based it yesterday. They got tore down yesterday. Yes,
they've They're missed some guys. So is every damn body else.
Everybody's missing guy Buffalo. Who's Buffalo's receivers? Yesterday we're talking
about that past to Brandon Kuggs. They lost two receivers
to ACLS last weekend. Guys, don't give me this. It's
(25:13):
the same thing with McDermott. System defensive guy, how's that
worked out for you? We got your star quarterback who
I actually feel sorry for, who I can't stand a
guy at a press conference crying.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
This is where we are.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
So for John Harbaugh, I'm on the opposite side. This
is a home run higher. He was the number one
guy on the market. You got the number one guy
on the market, and it's going to change. The culture
is what he's going to change. And then he needs
to bring the right system xes and those guys and
keep that culture.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
You can say he took over from.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Billick and they already had the defense uff, but you
have to be able to sustain a culture for eighteen years,
for eighteen years, Steve Tom.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
We can say the same about Tom, and we'll get
to Tom.
Speaker 6 (25:58):
We're gonna get to you.
Speaker 5 (25:59):
Can I do it? Blind resume?
Speaker 1 (26:01):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (26:01):
Three you guys are two.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Coaches, right, I don't I don't like blind resumes.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
But go ahead, because I feel like they're always leaning
towards a personal narrative.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
Is why people doing? But go ahead.
Speaker 5 (26:08):
Coach A Yeah, miny percentage of six to twenty. Right,
spend sixteen seasons A coach twelve and ten in the playoffs,
five division titles the Super Bowl. Okay, Coach B six
nineteen percentage, seventeen season coach eleven and eleven in the playoffs,
seven division titles in Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
That's damn near, even though, all right, who are those
two coaches?
Speaker 5 (26:29):
Coach A is Harnball. Coach B is mich McCarthy. Yeah,
I don't think there would be nearly as much uh
celebrated New York if they had hired mich McCarthy as
there is.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
That's because Mike's been gone. Mike's been out. Harball, Harball's
and Harrorball still relevant. They just lost two weeks ago
on Sunday Night. By the way, yesterday you feel that.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
I think I just yesterday I did the show with
Buck Rise and I sat in for Jason fits right,
and he's obviously there with the Titans, and that they're
looking for a coach, right name. They came out of
his mouth Mike McCarthy. I said, Mike McCarthy would be
a good.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Hire for you, It'd be a good card for Miami.
It would be a good high for a lot of teams. Right.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
But there, I mean, you had that those two guys,
and and Tomlin and Pete Carroll, they're all in the
same area, right, same resumes.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
You can argue.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
I mean, if the argument is if one of those
guys is the Hall of Fame, they're all Hall of famers, right.
Sean Payton obviously also in that mix. You know, same
relative number wins if you win a Super Bowl. They
all won a Super Bowl. All right, Well, we're going
to get into it on the other side, because Carthy's
not a culture guy.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
McCarthy had Air Rodgers and Air Rogers set the culture.
Let's let's make sure we keep that.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
That was That was the always the argument also with well, okay,
we'll get into a second let's first find out what
is trending right now.
Speaker 7 (27:46):
Hello Monsy, Happy sundayday, Thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
My sister is in the house today. Yes she is,
and she's been all week from cedar rapids.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
I was so you could have texted me all week
to tell me she was to be here. Okay, I'm
very upset.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
First of all, she got she was still there when
I walked, I thought she had gone home.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
I saw I was with her today. I'm upset because
I didn't bring her any breakfast. Had he told me her.
As you can see, she's leaning me. Troble never changes.
She's like me. She's like the heart. We don't change
like She's the same who says change. And so she
took the first bite of the burrito. She wanted. No,
(28:28):
I am mad at you, mister Hall of Famer. I
am mad at you. Okay, I'll take it. The stories
I heard on too, they trust me. They don't.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
He really wears like fires for the last for you,
and they don't.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
Yeah, uniform, I know his uniform. I'm very familiar with.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
It's going to made him wear some black and some black.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
And I told my sister today, you will literally see
me wear what I normally wear unless I have TV,
then I can't wear a cap.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
But I got to do that.
Speaker 7 (28:58):
But I can't wait to hear off to the side
how it went, even though Isaac Lohenkron did send me
a picture of you on the podium. Yes, he sent
me that picture while it was happening, and he said
you gave a great speech.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
After other people had.
Speaker 7 (29:14):
Spoken that you said yours was perfect, funny, not too long,
it hit all the spots.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
He was very.
Speaker 7 (29:20):
Complimentary of your speech. So I can't wait to hear
from you directly. But I heard from Isac Clark.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
I don't know if you know this.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
I can talk, yes, y Editing myself is very difficult, but.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
You managed barely to do it. I did. He managed
to do it, especially when you're the last speaker of
the day and everybody wants to lead, right, That's what
you mentioned. But he said you gave a great speech
there at the end. Yeah, guys. The coaching carousel continues.
Speaker 7 (29:42):
Steelers are expected to speak with former Cowboys head coach
Mike McCarthy. As you guys were just talking about about
their head coaching vacancy. The NFL Network is reporting that
former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel's schedule to interview in
person Wednesday for the Browns head coaching job.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
He's also going to interview for the Raiders head.
Speaker 7 (29:58):
Coaching job on Monday, the Chargers offensive coordinator position on Tuesday.
He's got a busy week, Mike mcdaddy's got.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
A bo and Mina. I would please come to the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Hele Man, so great. It doesn't have to be the coach, right,
I feel like focus on the offense.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
How great? How great? I'm like, please please.
Speaker 7 (30:20):
The Titans have a second head coaching interview schedule with
Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Naggi and Packers offensive coordinator Jeff Halfley.
Eagles are expected to interview former Giants head coach Brian
Dable for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
When it comes to the NBA, there's a game going
on in London right now.
Speaker 7 (30:36):
It's the Grizzlies in the Magic Memphis is up eighty
sixty sixty four halfway through the third quarter, Jahn Morant
leading the way twenty two points and eleven assists.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Other news out of the NBA.
Speaker 7 (30:47):
Kawhi Leonard, who's having a great year for the Clippers.
He's dealing with left knee irritation. So he's actually being
sent home from the road trip for treatment. He's gonna
be reevaluated, re evaluated.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
When the team gets back on Wednesday. Back to you guys,
hi see.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Thank you very very much, and I apologize again for
not telling you of my sisters.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
Very upset with you. I know any well, you should
be not alone.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
They get in line, all right, let's get where the
Fox Sports radio studios and so radio Harmon and Husky here.
So this was comical and not unexpected. So when Mike
Tomlin stepped down and we knew he wasn't gonna get fired.
To get fired, wouldn't have fired. You know he was
going to step down. Then the Steelers you know the wow,
(31:30):
we were caught off guard. Now, come on, all right,
so we know what happened here when your final game
as the coach of the Steelers, the entire crowd in
Pittsburgh after that disastrous fourth quarter against the Texans is
literally screaming fired Tomlin.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Fired Tomlin. His fate was sealed.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
He knew if they knew it, all right, So here's
the thing I want to get into, all right, So
as far as Tomlin, the most impressive thing on his
resume is this consecond years without a losing season.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Only one coach in the history of the NFL.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
One has had a longer streak, and that was Tom Landry.
Is the only coach in the history of the NFL
to have more consecutive non losing seasons.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
Nineteen tis Bill Belichick.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Right, so he ties Belichick. Landry the only guy ahead
of him. So, I mean, in my opinion, Mike Tomlins
spot in the Hall of Fame is secure. He will
be in the Hall of Fame someday. And whether or
not he coaches again. Look, the Steelers will pay him
for this year his full salary. He'll do some TV
work and then he'll make a decision. He's still a
young man. He gets coach if he wants to. Here's
what I want to ask you, because we talk about
(32:35):
the Harbor situation of Baltimore, Tomlins situation in Pittsburgh. Those
two jobs are now available, right, and so all of
a sudden, you think you have seven jobs left, which
ones are the most attractive? Well, I mean on paper
with seed to be the Ravens, because you have a
two time MVP as a quarterback. The problem there is
is he still going to be there? Like, if I'm
interviewing for the Ravens job, is the organization admitted to
(33:00):
Lamar Jackson?
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Are they going to keep him around? Seventy mil are?
Speaker 2 (33:05):
Because I don't want to step in thinking, Wow, I
got a two time MVP quarterback and all of a
sudden he's gone.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
And then on the other.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Side of you, if you get hired by the Steelers,
apparently you're good for the next fifteen years.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
You don't have a quarterback, but you have no quarterback
no quarterback.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
So let me ask you just a choice of those
two jobs right now? If you are a hot coaching Canada.
We know there's several young guys that have yet to
be a head coach of this And by the way,
quick note on the Kevin Stefanski hire, I like it.
I don't think it's a terrible situation. I mean, Michael
Pennick is going to need guidance man. And it's all
(33:40):
about Panis because the way that they finish that season
Rahie Morris is a defensive guy. They feel like we
need an offensive guy. You know, the two good years
that Stefanski had in Cleveland. He was the NFL Coach
of the Year both times, So, I you know, is
he a great coach?
Speaker 1 (33:55):
We'll see that.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Is he a guy that understands, you know, how to
develop you know, he's we'll see what he can do
with Pennix.
Speaker 5 (34:02):
All right, that's somebody else in Atlanta Forte, I think
he's about somebody else at the quarterback position in Atlanta.
For Stefanski, you think so, well, well, I mean the
guy they got him the head coaching the first place,
as the starter there right now.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
Yeah, well it's true. I mean, well, we'll see how
it goes. But I mean they're committed.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
We know in the NFL teams will mc guivert to
QB position together for a season.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
It's listen. I don't think. I don't think Pennis is
the guy. I don't. He can't be because he's gonna
he's gonna get hurt again next year, that's right, the guy. No,
he's not the guy there. They're gonna draft.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
They're gonna hit next next NFL draft next year, the
twenty twenty seven draft when all those quarterbacks have to
come out, when they all have to come out and
they don't get to be scared like Shambler's right now
and acting like and acted like a sucker. They're they're
gonna be able to pick the next young guy to
to to leader.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
I know where you want to go.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
We can on the other side. On the other side,
I'm gonna be a little time to think. But if
you're a hot coaching candidate and you have a choice
between the Steelers job or the Ravens job, which job
is most attractive to you?
Speaker 1 (35:09):
This is End Zone Radio, Harbin and Husky here, end
Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
We're in the Fox Sports Radio studios, or about an
hour and ten minutes away from kickoff between the Texans
and the Patriots winner. We'll move on to travel to
Denver to take on the bow Nicks lists Denver Broncos
Jared Stidham. Can you imagine Jared Stidham playing against a
Houston defense?
Speaker 1 (35:34):
Wow woo. So that's what's coming up.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
And of course, later tonight in frigid Chicago, the Rams
will be taken on the Bears. We'll get into those
games a little bit later on, but we're talking a
little bit about these coaching vacancies around the National Football League.
Two Josaman Phil John Harbaugh VJ and I have very
different thoughts obviously on what kind of impact he's going
to have on the Giants organizations. Wins Kevin's fan ski
(36:00):
ten wins not gonna yeah, double.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
From the for I got four, they're gonna get double
the wins ten. No, it's not gonna happen, all right.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
And again no knock on John Harbaugh. He's a good coach.
That's an organization the problems right now. And then Kevin
Stefanski getting the job in Atlanta. They did a couple
of interviews and they feel like he's the right guy
in Atlanta. We'll see how that works out. But I
asked MEJ this question, all right, so you had some
time to think about it, So I have to look
it up because I don't know off the top of
(36:28):
my head, but I would doubt there's ever been a
year where two jobs become vacant where you had one
coach there for eighteen years and another coach there for
nineteen years at the same time. So you have two
rock solid organizations, the Ravens and the Steelers, organizations that
have been able to sustain a certain level for long
(36:49):
periods of time because they understand the business they get
the right people in personnel, you know they've got good ownership,
they're committed to winning, and then you know if they
fall short. Expectations are high, even if you've been a
successful coach, even if you're a super Bowl winning coach,
as both John Harbor and Mike Tomlin were. If you
(37:10):
don't do it, we got to move on, all right.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
So now you're the hot coaching Canada, right like Ben
Johnson a year ago, and he got a great situation
in Chicago, and you're presented the opportunity to join one
of these two organizations, proven winning organizations, the Ravens or
the Steelers. Which one do you choose?
Speaker 3 (37:31):
I feel like it's an unfair easy question because we
know you need one thing as an incoming coach.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
Who's my quarterback? Correct?
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Like they? I feel like it's an unfair question. So
the easy answer for me, of course, But it's not
just him. I got Kyle Hamilton on the back end,
and that game changed that Sunday night. When Cayle Hamblinton
goes out of that game, that game changes and the
commentator's noay, they say, trust me so much changes because
he plays up around the line, he plays in the middle.
He plays on the back end like he is a
Swiss Army knife type of defender. Uds me a lot
(38:00):
of what Charles Woodson looked like when he first got
the Green Bay. Kyle Hamilton is a proven all right.
He's gonna be a defensive Player of the Year at
one point in his career. He's gonna at least get
one of those trophies on his mantle in his house.
So for me, it is Baltimore because I know what
I have there. I know I still got Derek Henry
at the running back position. I know I still got
Lamar Jackson. I know I got Kyle Hamilton. I know
(38:21):
I have Kyle van Noy, who just did a next
Onally job speaking about Harball and NFL Network yesterday. I
know I have these pieces in place, and it's an
easy choice for me. With Pittsburgh, I don't know what's
gonna be able with DK. He wants to fight fans,
He's gonna get suspended.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
I don't have a quarterback. I gotta figure out what
I'm gonna do with my running back position.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
We overpaid for TJ.
Speaker 6 (38:41):
Watt.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
When we paid for we should have paid him before
and we waited too long and now he gets hurt.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
They have too many questions.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
So even taking Lamar out of it, I just think
that there's less questions with Baltimore than there is with Pittsburgh.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
For me, it would be an easy decision. It'd be
to Baltimore.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
Well, and again we discussed this that again, if I
was interested in the Ravens job, I need to know
your commitment in Lamar Jackson give him a deal, though,
I mean they're going to give him a deal. The
Lamar Jackson situations unique in this sense. Lamar's his own agent,
so he doesn't the reason you don't see Lamar Jackson
(39:19):
doing a lot of these commercials and everything else.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
That's what agents do.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
Agents are the ones that go out and get those
commercials for their quarterbacks or players everything.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
That is their job. You know, they get paid.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
Unfortunately, they get a piece of the pie on the contract,
which pretty much right themselves. I mean, I don't need
an agent if I'm Lamar Jackson or you know, a
top level quarterback to get you know, max deal in
the NFL.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
That's gonna come automatically.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
And that's Lamar Jackson's attitude, is I don't need somebody
to negotiate a deal. I'm going to get my deal,
but he's not going to get the commercials, all right,
So that that aside. I don't think he really cares.
But that's the thing I would need to know. I mean,
are we set. We're gonna we have Lamar Jackson at quarterback? Right, Okay,
It's not gonna be like some blind side where we
decided not to pay the guy. No, he's gonna be
(40:06):
my guy. But again Lamar Jackson. Then see the knock
again on Harbaugh? Eleven years, three playoff wins. Eight of
those years of Lamar Jackson. Was it Lamar Jackson in
the postseason? Was it John Harbor the postseason? Like I said,
one of the worst coaching jobs ever was thatt AFC
championship game at home against.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
The Chiefs a couple of years ago.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
We're gonna find out about Lamar Jackson, whoever the Ravens
hire next. All right, we're gonna get ready for the
games coming up. Plus, how good are the Seahawks? This
is end Zone Radio.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
All right? Rolling along? Here are an hour.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Away from kickoff between the New England Patriots and Houston Texans.
The winner we'll move on to the AFC Championship game,
and then later tonight in frigid Chicago Bears hosting the Rams,
they will punch the ticket for a trip to Seattle.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
The number one seeds both survived.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
Yeah, man, you know I had asked you before the
playoffs began.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
VJ.
Speaker 2 (41:04):
By the way, we're hearing the Fox Sports radio studios,
could you envision either.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
Bow Knicks.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
Or Sam Darnold hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
Well, we know one guy that won't be. It will
be Bnicks.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
That was unbelievable. So he actually got hurt in the overtime.
It was a player where he's running to his left.
He seemed to be laboring a little bit, but he
stayed in the game and they and by the way,
his throw to Mims the game him the lead was
an absolutely perfect throw, great catch, perfect throw right there.
(41:44):
So you know, Bo Nicks, that was gonna be the
big question. Could bow Nicks hang in there? I mean
he wasn't all that efficient, He was barely over fifty
percent passing, but when his team need a minute to go,
you make that pass. That is big time football. Unfortunately, maybe,
as we say, said the football God said, wow, man,
really he sort of screwed over the Bills on a
(42:06):
couple of his calls.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
So yeah, Denver wins the game, but they lose their quarterback.
We'll see about that.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
And then later again, as we mentioned, the Bears are
going to be taking on the Rams.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
Okay, so we know bo Nicks is not going to
be hoisting the Lobardi Trophy unless he's there and they
handed to him and then street close.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
But Sam Darnold still has an opportunity now, Sam Donald,
he had an oblique injury, so he suffered it in
practice on Thursday. They said he did not throw the
ball at all from Thursday that point until the game itself.
He didn't have to do much in this game. He
only threw for one hundred and twenty four yards in
this game and pretty much, you know, the game was
over after the opening kickoff. By the way, I'm with
(42:47):
you on this forty nine er thing. Look, give Kyle
Shanahan credit, and the guy had a phenomenal coaching year
this year, his best coaching job. With all the injuries
they had. You know, we can talk about Mike Vrabel
or Cohen or Ben Johnson, A lot of coaches that
were able to take bad organizations turn around. But in
season coaching, in season coaching, I think Kyle Shanahan did
(43:10):
the best job around the NFL.
Speaker 1 (43:11):
But Christian got knocked out the game at four a point. Yesay, yeah,
I mean it was it was over. I mean it was.
It was unfortunate.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
So they get absolutely blown out. But that doesn't take
away from Seattle. I mean they have a really good defense.
I mean, we talk about that Houston Texans defense. We're
going to see how Drake mayfairs against that defense coming
up here in about an hour.
Speaker 1 (43:30):
But that Seattle defense is outstanding, outstanding defense.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
They have two headed monster at running back. You know,
they can do a lot of things. They don't need
Sam Darnald to throw for three hundred yards to win games.
They just need Sam Darnald to sort of stay in
his lane, make the throws you need to make. You
got an all pro wide receiver, get the ball in
his hands as many times as you can, and that's it.
(43:55):
Seattle doesn't need a whole lot.
Speaker 1 (43:57):
More in order to win shit.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
Here right now, with their spot in the Final four secure,
how are you feeling about Seattle's chances to win the
Super Bowl this year.
Speaker 3 (44:09):
If they run the ball like that, listen, football one
oh one. Guys, you guys have heard of me, say
this again. I'll give it to you again, Football one
oh one. Run the ball, stop the run, rush the passer,
protect the passer, don't turn the ball over, don't comits
stupid penalties. You will win sixty eight percent of your games.
Its signs. Go research it and look it up. It's
the facts, and that's what they do. Seattle runs the ball.
They ran like you said. They didn't need Sam Darnol yesterday,
(44:31):
Kennith Walker and listen, Zach Scharbonay, we got to keep
an eye out on that. Zach Scharbonay could be out.
But Kenneth Walker stepped back in. It was like, no, hey,
remember remember why I was such a high pick out
of Michigan State. Remember what I did when I was
at Michigan State playing for little brother three touchdowns, yesd right,
I mean, and just running through the touchdown to the
left where he runs through the defender like the three
yard like he kind of skips and then he lowers
(44:52):
his shoulder and he kind of hissed accelerator and runs
right through and.
Speaker 1 (44:56):
That linebacker's got his head on the right side. He
tries to wrap them up.
Speaker 3 (44:59):
But when you look at the way this young man's
put together, like he runs through those tackles, that's training too.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
Man.
Speaker 3 (45:05):
Even watching Cook run yesterday, this jump cuts, that's those
videos you see when they're in the off season, they're
doing these jersey like why is he doing that? That's
why he's doing that because in January, you're gonna need
those moves to run like that. So if you can
run the ball like that and play defense, and you
know my saying, man, running the ball in defense travels.
That's what scares me about this Patriots game today. For
the Patriots with the Texas going in but running and
(45:25):
defense travels, that defense gives up seventeen points. They give
up under under one hundred yards rushing and they give
up I believe it's under two hundred yards passing.
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Like one ninety three, one ninety four. This is crazy.
That's not even three hundred yards they give up a game.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
So everything is tough sledding. The Seattle defense, I think
they finished ranked number six or seven in the league.
I mean their top five, top six to seven defense
in the league. It's not by mistake, but McDonald bo
mentioned it about a month and a half ago. Man
McDonald's come in with his type of scheme. They got
that front seven, that defense line, they get pressure on you.
They don't have to blitz a lot. They're good on
(46:03):
the back end, they're physical and they tackle. Well, it's
a cult. Once again, he's created a culture there and
that's why you see this team. But at some point
Donald's gonna have to make a play. Next week, well
he's going to have to play the play.
Speaker 1 (46:16):
Obviously.
Speaker 2 (46:16):
Seattle will be hosting the NFC championship game against either
the Rams or the Bears.
Speaker 1 (46:21):
Uh. And I'm not a big believer in home field.
I usually think the best championship game.
Speaker 2 (46:26):
But but if there are a few franchises that do
benefit I think from home field, I think Seattle's wont
to them.
Speaker 3 (46:32):
You think the Rams or the Bears, with both those
defenses can go up there and rout o'donald Well, that's
beat them.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
That's the X fact Bears, that's all that that look
at it. We I know, we talk about quarterback play
all the time. I mean the Texans are the same way.
We've been watching this Texas team dominate teams with their defense,
and then all of a sudden, CJ struts plays.
Speaker 1 (46:56):
What are you doing? What do you do? You're in
the red zone and you're scrambling around. Just throw the
ball away. Don't lose the game.
Speaker 2 (47:07):
You know, they had the game a few weeks ago
against the against the Chargers where they you know, the
Chargers gave up a couple of big plays early. It
looks like it's going to be a route right, and
then c J. Stroud turns the ball over, throws a
bad interception, and suddenly the Chargers were back in the game.
And so that's the X factor. And I think the
Darnel situation is very similar in Seattle. Just you know,
(47:30):
just again, don't give it. Get him the ball, right,
get him the ball. You got two running backs. Again,
the Charbonnat situation, I don't.
Speaker 1 (47:39):
Have a big, big effect. Just don't lose the game
for US charmon twelve touchdowns this year. You can't.
Speaker 3 (47:44):
You can't just credit and then yesterday also too, I mean, shh,
I don't remember. I think I think von Miller might
be at that rate of that trade deadline move that
just really added to what its well, you don't he's
been around. Obviously, he's been a very effective kick return
for a long time. E've ben a pro bowler previous
(48:05):
to this. But I mean that opening kicks off. I
mean I was like, wow, what are we talking here?
Speaker 1 (48:11):
This is Devin Hester stuff right or you know you're.
Speaker 2 (48:16):
And by the way, with the new kickoff rules, it's
not that easy, although it's it's not easy, but it
is easy. So yeah, you don't have all the guys
lined up twenty guys zero lineup face to face and there's.
Speaker 1 (48:26):
Sort of a wall there.
Speaker 2 (48:28):
But the deal is if you can find the crack
of the wall and get through it, boom, you're off
to the races.
Speaker 3 (48:34):
Uh And Shaheed was Smith and Jigmie I said, just
remember it not a big day man thirty three for
nineteen and we had three catches for night.
Speaker 1 (48:42):
So it's but that was it.
Speaker 2 (48:44):
They weren't going to look at even even Darnold said
after the game, look, he goes First of all, I
would not have taken the field if I didn't think
I could actually throw the football.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
But they kept it very low key and they didn't
need it. No they didn't, but they're they're going to
that's that's the thing.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
Twelve or seventeen, win twenty four in the touch But
then when you got Walker running for a buck sixteen
and his three touchdowns, you got the turnovers like the
leading rusher.
Speaker 1 (49:10):
If you guys didn't know, for the Niners, yesterday was
Brock party. Yeah, they had running game. I had no
running game. By the way.
Speaker 2 (49:16):
You know what was interesting gooding back just a sidebar
on that Bill's Broncos game. You know, the the Bills were,
you know, running number one running Demmer had the number
two rushing defense in the league. They put up like
one hundred and seventy six years rushing. They ran right over,
they ran right over. I tell you, even the runovers
were killer. James Cook, dude, you can't fumble like that,
(49:36):
know what.
Speaker 3 (49:37):
Listen and you know I can't blame James Cook on
that fumble because I go back and I watched that
play like five times. He's he's holding the ball at
that point the way it running back is supposed to.
Sometimes the defender's good to guys like Mike Dad Tony
was one of the best, like inner between quarter coaches,
when you know you got to come over do the
little interview on the baseline before you go back to
(49:57):
the huddle stuff. And I remember one day him looking
at young lady and say, listen, sometime the other guy
is good, like like we're all pros out here, and
sometimes the other guy is just good and that's so
and that's okay. That's a perfect form to coach. Covetson.
They taught me what form tackling was in the seventh
grade at Beba Middle School in Woodbridge, Virginia. We used
to do form tackling to start every practice. And this
(50:20):
is me in the seventh grade, guys getting coached like this.
After we stretch, you do ten minutes a form tackling,
which means head up, face masking, held out all through running, ride,
wrap around the waist, drive And when you watch that tackle,
that right in their So I can't I can't blame
him for that because he his running game kept him
(50:42):
in it.
Speaker 1 (50:42):
But I'm also taking a quick second.
Speaker 3 (50:43):
I'm I'm gonna give Josh Allen his flowers just for yesterday,
just for yesterday, because I did see I saw his
heart yesterday and I thought I never I don't think
I've ever really seen his heart yet.
Speaker 1 (50:54):
I've seen his abilities, but yesterday.
Speaker 3 (50:56):
He showed me his heart, and I can always inspect
an athlete's heart, whether I like you or not. And
I'm not a Josh Apple turnavel Over fan, but his
heart was on display yesterday and I respect that.
Speaker 1 (51:11):
I do think they got to give him a new coach, though.
Speaker 3 (51:13):
I think this thing with McDermott is running its course,
and maybe he might need more of an offensive guy
to put this offense over. But with Sam Darnold back
to him, he's gonna have to do more next week,
whether it's the Rams coming up there or if it's
the Bears coming up there.
Speaker 1 (51:30):
He can't throw for one to twenty four. All right.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
So, as we are sitting here right now, and I
talked earlier about this idea that there seems to be
a matchup of destiny each year that culminates in the
Super Bowl, just hit me what it is.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
I just figure I will tell you on the other side.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
The destiny for this year's Super Bowl, super Bowl sixty,
super Bowl six.
Speaker 1 (51:57):
Now we are wearing sixty. We're at six. Not a
good Roman, Yeah, I'm not.
Speaker 3 (52:02):
I know what is?
Speaker 1 (52:02):
Yes, I know it's ten. So sixty is l X.
There you go, right, at x LX sixty L is
fifty exes ten. All right, so LXL. But it just
hit me. It's it's just so obvious what the Super
Bowl matchup will be. We'll tell you. This is End
Zone Radio, End Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (52:22):
Harbin and Husky with you. We are now forty minutes away.
I can't wait for this matchup between the Texans and
the Patriots. Winner, we'll take on Denver without Bonix in
Denver in the AFC Championship game. All right, So we've
been having a lot of conversations about what happened yesterday
(52:43):
Seattle and Denver. The two to one seeds move on
and they are finding out who we will host next
week in our conference championship games. So we'll have this
game coming up then. Of course Rams and Bears. But
when we talk about Super Bowls and I have I
have actually been credentialed or have attended twenty six Super Bowls.
Speaker 1 (53:07):
I have all of that. The one thing I've kept
over the year's VJ. I don't know why. And this
goes back to my days with.
Speaker 2 (53:14):
The Daily Bruin when I was at UCLA, and you
get your credential and I would throw them in a bag,
and I actually have them all. I've sat there with
my son Garrett one time and we went through divide
them up, like you know, football, NFL, college football, baseball, basketball,
season credentials, boxing, you know whatever.
Speaker 1 (53:34):
I got all this, I got all of mine.
Speaker 2 (53:36):
So but I have you know, and the way I
would cover Super Bowls back in the day, so the
way it works in Super Bowl Week. You know during
the week you see on TV that Tuesday where it's
like a circus, right, they have like all the players
like at some arena, and you get the crazy people
that aren't really media people, U sports media people.
Speaker 1 (53:59):
They're just you know, there to have fun. You see that.
What you don't see is what happens on Wednesday and
Thursday before the games the next two days. That's where
the media, the true sports media can go to the
individual team hotels. They bring the players into a room
and you can sit down with your and tape interviews.
(54:19):
And I always had partners that were very committed to
doing that because I was always committed. I mean, I'm
not going to.
Speaker 2 (54:25):
Just sit on radio row and have somebody just paraded
to me and have the same guy interviewed. No, we're
going to talk to people actually are going to be
in the game, right, Okay, the coaches, the players in
the game, And yeah, you're not going to get the
superstars one on one, but you can get enough coaches
other players to get a little sense of the team.
So you know, as this would go on year after
(54:48):
year after year, I would suddenly realize at some point
during that week, cand this was it the reason these
two teams are in the super Bowl against each other. Destiny?
It was destiny you think about it. Of course this
was the super Bowl matchup. So as I've been thinking
(55:08):
about this year's matchup, I'm thinking about two teams with
two players that we have been talking about NonStop over
the last third of the season.
Speaker 1 (55:19):
I'm lost. I have no idea where you're going with this.
I'm interested.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
I'm the super Bowl matchup now with the injury to
bow Knicks. Is the New England Patriots or Drake May
and the Los Angeles Ransom Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 1 (55:32):
Have we not been talking about these two guys? Which
one is the most valuable player?
Speaker 3 (55:36):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (55:37):
Okay, now willia Ward is going to be announced before
because it's this regular season award. But we have been
sort of having this back and forth who is more
deserving of the MVP and the fact that bow Knicks
goes down, right, So here's Drake. May you know this
is not going to be easy. If he plays like
he did against the Chargers, they're gonna lose.
Speaker 1 (55:58):
Oh absolutely he is.
Speaker 2 (55:59):
He's gonna after he cannot turn the ball over. He's
going to have to play well, much better than he
did against the Chargers. And maybe it was first playoff game, jitters, whatever.
He can't play like that against Houston and win. But
if we get a matchup, think about this. This would
be the third Super Bowl between the Patriots and the Rams.
You had obviously Tom Brady's first Super Bowl when he
(56:21):
upset the Saint Louis Rams, right right, And then of
course we had the recent Belichick and three right, Yeah,
that ugly super Bowl we had were Belichick out coached
let's say Sean McVay that day very much. So Sean McVay,
young coach, first opportunity to be in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (56:39):
So this would be the third all time. And of
course the Patriots won those two games, and so.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
The Rams would be trying to exact revenge right there.
So John McVay would go back in his third Super
Bowl as a coach. He's won and one, but now
he would have a chance to revenge his first loss
to the New England Patriots. I'm glory got storylines for
a game that hasn't happened.
Speaker 1 (56:59):
Obviously.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
The Rams still have to win at Chicago and at
Seattle get there. New England somehow has to get through
this Houston defense go on the road against Denver. But
if that is the matchup, if we are sitting there,
you know, up there in the Bay Area and we've
got the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams, and
all week long they're going the argument's gonna go who
was the most valuable player?
Speaker 1 (57:20):
The two quarterbacks got.
Speaker 2 (57:21):
Their team to the big dance man, Drake May Matthew Stafford,
And that would be sort of a buzzy entire week,
which one actually was the most valuable player this year?
Speaker 1 (57:31):
And I'm gonna be honest with you.
Speaker 3 (57:33):
You got me kind of pulling for that Super Bowl, now,
I was that's a good super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (57:36):
I was pulling for.
Speaker 3 (57:38):
This Texas defense is just so monstrous, man, They're gonna
punch New England's offense in the mouth today New England's
offense again.
Speaker 1 (57:45):
If Drake May plays like he did against the Charge.
Speaker 3 (57:48):
They're gonna lose. If he doesn't play better than he
played last week, they're gonna lose this game today. That
gentleman they're showing on the screen and there Will Anderson
Junior who is going to wreck shopping.
Speaker 2 (57:58):
And you remember how great he was at Alabama. No, no, overall,
they need a corner third overall. And yeah, he's been
sort of good the first couple of years, but this
year just yeah, well, Houston, well, I mean Houston nailed it.
Speaker 1 (58:11):
They took CJ. And then they took him all with
him the top ten, So they nailed it.
Speaker 3 (58:15):
But I I number one, great call, great, great, great
lead with great segue as we call it in this
great tease as we call.
Speaker 1 (58:23):
It in this business. Yeah, I'm with you because that
that also too gives us two full weeks. Yeah, two
full weeks to just get on.
Speaker 3 (58:32):
Ready, we're gonna have a lot to talk about. There
so much to talk big. They going to his third math,
I tell you right now, just him getting there again.
I don't want to hear Matthew Stafford's not a Hall
of Fame I don't want to hear if you're saying
to me, I'm not talking football to you no more.
Speaker 1 (58:46):
If you say it to me, I'm not talking football
to you anymore.
Speaker 3 (58:49):
Because now you're telling me a guy that's gotten it
two as possibly it being two and knowing the two
he got to it's not Hall of Famer.
Speaker 1 (58:56):
I just can't.
Speaker 2 (58:57):
I by the way, on Stafford, that we played this
last sight on TV, So I mean, obviously we're talking
frigid temperatures tonight in Chicago, you know, like.
Speaker 1 (59:07):
Sab mid teens.
Speaker 2 (59:08):
Okay, it's gonna be super cold in Chicago, But in
games in that temperature range, over the course of his
career and the course all those years playing in the
NFC North, he had a few of those games fifteen touchdowns,
three picks. Listen, he can so that that is not
going to bother Matthew Stafford at all.
Speaker 1 (59:25):
No. I watched Tom Brady on Colin this week too,
and it's funny.
Speaker 2 (59:28):
And by the way, DeVante Adams, how many years was
he in Green Bay? Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no, none
of him. The weather is cold is not going to
be an impact on tonight's game in Chicago.
Speaker 1 (59:41):
The night's game in Chicago's going to come down to
the quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (59:44):
Like, once again, how often can Chicago just keep coming
back into fourth court sooner or later? Guys, it runs
out because it's not who you truly are. It's the
circumstance of this year. Once again, we've said this about
teams that win these one score games one year sooner
or later. The Todd flips. When you lead the league
and turnover differential plus seventeen plus eighteen, that's not year toier.
(01:00:08):
Go back and look at the last ten years of
turnover differential, because they tell me which team repeat it
at the top, it doesn't happen. So that game's gonna
be about, uh, the quarterback play tonight. But I like
the preview. I like I like I like the setup
that you're doing there. I thought you were going Seahawks Broncos.
I thought you might be going there, the two seeds,
(01:00:29):
the two one seeds. But no, not only that they've
played in the Super Bowl BEFO. Yeah, there's history there,
but let's just get great history for the Broncos forty
three to eight.
Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
They got crushed. But let's just be honest here, man,
and and I found out that the MVP was Malcolm Smith.
You still have Yeah, that's right. We still have no
idea that the Super Bowl MVP that year was on
Malcolm Smith. I forgot about that. Man. It's almost like
a year where a guy like Larry Brown.
Speaker 3 (01:00:57):
But yeah, but Neil o'donald took the took the Vegas money,
threw him two picks right to him. He didn't have
to move all he had to do his back pedal
three yards and the ball came right to him and
hit him in the gut both times on back to
back possessions. But I thought that's might where you would
be going because of that history there. But I love
the foreshadowing of the two quarterbacks we've been talking about.
(01:01:17):
Then there were rumors that the people there the Patriot
trying to stat pad and keep May in games late
to get him extra stats and yards for MVP. And
then the Rams there into the follow week by keeping
Matthew Stafford in the game and having him throw a
lot and giving us two weeks.
Speaker 7 (01:01:32):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:01:32):
There, But both both teams gotta get out of today first. Yeah,
they got to get they have to go through the road.
Speaker 3 (01:01:38):
They got both teams got two games to you know,
to play and they would have to both go on
the road next week, which we've seen in the history
of that, we've seen two road teams went on conference
championship Sunday before.
Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
So it's not guaranteed the ones a get there.
Speaker 2 (01:01:51):
But I like it. Uh yeah, I was speaking of
obscure Super Bowl MVPs. When the Buccaneers blew out the
Raiders in the Super Bowl. Dan and San Diego blowout.
Speaker 1 (01:02:03):
Super Bowl MVP for Tampa Bay in that game, the
blowout Smith Smith Smith brooks, No, it's a defender. It
is a defender from Tampa Bay. Remember they had five
interceptions game. This guy intercepted. Don't tell me, don't tell me,
don't tell me. To me, it wasn't Derek Boryds. I
thought it was a Smith.
Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
It was one of their Hall of famers. It was yeah, right,
it wasn't. It's not a Hall of Fame, wasn't. It
wasn't Lynch, wasn't Sap. I thought it was Derek Smith, Darryl.
It's a line that's a very similar name. Right, it's
a line. I'm right there, it's right there. Don't tell me.
You don't tell me, because it's gonna bother me. All right,
Well do you just think about that for a second.
(01:02:43):
Let's find out what is trending.
Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
Darren Smith, I definitely you don't know. I definitely don't know.
There was a linebacker though, it's one of their linebackers.
Speaker 7 (01:02:55):
It was.
Speaker 1 (01:02:56):
It was not a linebacker. It is the it's a back.
It was a corner. Smith was a corner safety Smith
John Dexter Jackson, hold up bose laughing and smiling, pose laughing,
smile cheat.
Speaker 5 (01:03:16):
That's who I guess too.
Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
It is Dexter Jackson. Yeah. The safety between Larry Brown, Dexterville,
Macca Smith is easily the most obscure Super Bowl MVP,
Is he not? I mean more so than Dexter Jackson
and Larry Brown.
Speaker 3 (01:03:31):
No, I'll give you another. I'll ask another one. Patriots
didn't always have no No, but I mean they had
two receivers.
Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
Receivers. We just have a couple that you go, but
they were he wasn't.
Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
It doesn't matter though, name if not you because you
I know, you know, I don't know if anybody else
in the studio can name the two that's not Adam
Vinne's Harry or Tom Brady that won Super Bowl MVP
for the exact you know.
Speaker 1 (01:03:55):
I'm not going to like receivers. Yeah, that's okay.
Speaker 7 (01:04:00):
What was.
Speaker 1 (01:04:05):
No, it's Julian Edelman is why I was thinking of. Yeah, okay,
oh guys, we are about what thirty minutes or so much?
Speaker 3 (01:04:14):
No, I know, I know.
Speaker 1 (01:04:19):
He's excited. They're excited.
Speaker 7 (01:04:21):
Texas and Patriots kick off again in about thirty minutes
of the AFC Divisional round. When it comes to the
NFC Divisional round, Rams and Bears, that's going to kick
off at six thirty.
Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
Eastern time, And I know you guys are saying that
the weather is not going to impact anyone, but it's
going to be real cold, really cold. It's a night
game on top of them.
Speaker 7 (01:04:40):
Like like, I think it's going to feel like minus
something that sounds crazy, feels like a.
Speaker 1 (01:04:48):
First of all, I don't believe that you live in Chicago.
Speaker 6 (01:04:51):
You know this.
Speaker 1 (01:04:52):
Yeah, we actually maybe not know because you might be
used to it. But for people that travel to Chicago
in the winter and feel that cold, there is cold.
Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
And Chicago Chicago winter comes off Lake Michigan. It is insane.
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
Yeah, no, nothing. I grew up not on Lake Michigan,
but on Lake Erie.
Speaker 8 (01:05:12):
Yeah, all of those great lakes that is it'll it'll
bite you real quick, and especially Chicago, that wind factor
is even worse than something like Erie.
Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
Joke.
Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
They say, Matthew is wearing a scuba diving full suit
tonight under his uniforms, and so were some other players are.
Speaker 7 (01:05:31):
He would do right, like it helps with the cold
the scuba under which is crazy to think.
Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
And Sean McVay was talking about this as well, because
they were getting on him, you know, standing with like
what are you wearing? Well he goes, well, I'm not
going to be dressed like the Micheline man. So you
know it's you know, I'm going to scuba suit stuff
like that.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
You think about it. I I've done scuba before.
Speaker 8 (01:05:51):
When you're down that deep too, that is cold, cold water,
that's extremely cold, no no sunlight to warrants.
Speaker 1 (01:05:58):
So yeah, that kind of makes a lot of sense.
Speaker 7 (01:06:00):
Actually, as the coaching carousel continues, guys in the NFLI
be quick here.
Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
Now the teams have lost there are certain people who
can now go interview.
Speaker 7 (01:06:08):
So virtually forty nine ers defensive cordinator Robert sala is
interviewing with the Ravens and the Titans today. Virtually they
can't me in person until tomorrow Monday. Bill's offensive coordinator
Joe Brady virtually also interviewing with the Ravens and the
Dolphins today. When it comes to the NBA, the London
game has wrapped up. It was the Grizzlies who defeated
the Magic on tw six to.
Speaker 1 (01:06:27):
One oh nine. John Moran led the way.
Speaker 7 (01:06:29):
He had twenty four points and thirteen assists and one
game in the NHL happening right now, Lightning and Stars
tied at one late in the first period.
Speaker 3 (01:06:37):
Back to you guys on solid really fast. I think
Sala gets a job.
Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
I think Solo's gonna He's done a good job to
mend this job. I think Sala gets a job. I mean,
people can point to the Jets, but we're ready to
fire Aaron Oh change, Why nothing changed. We're ready to
fire Aaron Glynn, right, So that's what I'm saying, nothing
changed with the Jets. He's gonna. I think he's gonna
get a job. San Francisco, I do Sala is is
(01:07:06):
where he should be.
Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
He's like Spagnola, you know, I don't knows is one
of the great defensive coordinators.
Speaker 1 (01:07:11):
Of all time, he was a head coach. He's the Giants.
I don't think Sala's head coach, thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:07:20):
That's what That's why I'm looking at him like, dude,
like look at everybody who's left the Like Sam Darnold
is on the cusp of going to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (01:07:30):
If Sola goes and coaches in Tennessee and he sucks there,
then yeah, he's a DC.
Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
There are a few exceptions to the rule, but there
are exceptions. When we talk of like Hall of Fame
NFL coaches, there's two right off the top who failed
after a five year run at one team and then became.
Speaker 1 (01:07:46):
A Hall of Fame coach elsewhere.
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
One of them was Marv Levy five forgettable years in
Kansas City goes to the Bills Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (01:07:55):
You know the next one, girl, No Bill Belichick. The
five years of the Browns, Well he did have a
tennis six year with the Browns. One year way, Well
that means for losing. You love one years with some people,
but you hate him for others? Well, I mean you
do you hate Cooper Cups one year on year? What
you love but you love but you love Kurt Warners
(01:08:16):
one year with the rank. How did you not say
Cooper Cup wasn't a one year one. He had literally
one of the top five receiving years ever. He won
the Triple Crown of Receiving. He was the Offensive Player
of the Year, and he was Super Bowl. I was
about to say, and what did he win at the
end of the year super Bowl olymp Man.
Speaker 5 (01:08:31):
You know, one of my greatests and sports is if
doesn't tear his a cl in that game.
Speaker 1 (01:08:36):
Absolutely he would have. He would haved. Oh you remember them.
Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
I picked him to be the Super Bowl MVP, Golobe
Jays And when he when he scored the I said,
I got an out of the box MVP. I'm feeling
it right now. And I said, Odell Belackham Jr. He's
gonna win the m v P.
Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
And then he catches the touch I'm like, hello.
Speaker 5 (01:08:57):
Look, would have finished with like three hundred yards receiving
in like three touchdowns and the Rams have won that
game like forty five to twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:09:04):
But Beck to solid really fast, evil Monty, Like they
thinking about there's seven jobs available.
Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
There are seven jobs available right now.
Speaker 3 (01:09:12):
You cannot tell me that there are seven coaching candidates
that are more prepared and better than solid. Right now,
Who's been a head coach before so he knows what
the day to day is like. Joe Brady's never been
a head coach before, right, don't this? This will be
new fram and I know he's a hot name.
Speaker 1 (01:09:30):
He's at coming.
Speaker 3 (01:09:31):
Even Marcus Spiarz on ESPN throughout last week that that's
who the Ravens should bring in there for Lamar Jackson
would be a guy like Joe Brady, but he ain't
been a head coach before.
Speaker 1 (01:09:41):
I'm even with the Dolphins. I just don't want a
new head coach. I don't. I don't. We've done this the.
Speaker 3 (01:09:46):
Last the last experience coach we brought in and actually
did a real coaching search with Jimmy Johnson, Sperano.
Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
Everybody, Joe right, Joe, Philbit, what do you mean how
that work? He got us to the playffs, and we
want playoff games with Jimmy Johnson.
Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
My last game was a sixty two year seven loss
to Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (01:10:03):
Here, good guys, got Johnson. Last game is one game,
sixty two to seven. Here you go with one game,
one season, one game that was That was Damn Marino's
last game it was.
Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
Dam Marina's last game, and it was very sad to watch,
and I watched it on my brother's kitchen, on his
little white TV in the kitchen, and I broke my heart.
But at the end of the day, Jimmy Johnson was
the last established coach that the Dolphins have high. Everybody
else since him has been a first time head coach,
and it has now we got Mike McCarthy is a
name I just keep thinking about, man, like.
Speaker 1 (01:10:35):
I'm okay with Mike McCarthy. I'm actually one. I'm actually
more of.
Speaker 2 (01:10:40):
A McCarthy fan after what he did in Dallas than
I was when he left Green right right.
Speaker 3 (01:10:45):
In Dallas and Dallas, I just thought Dallas was just
a low team for coaching for Jerry is night and tough.
Speaker 1 (01:10:51):
It's tough, man, It's it's like coaching Lebron.
Speaker 3 (01:10:54):
You see how older you see how older JJ Reddy
look bo Let's be real, guys, Do you guys see
do you see.
Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
How older J. J. Ridder looks in a year and
a half. Guys, he ain't got bags, wrinkle face. Hey,
another dude too?
Speaker 6 (01:11:07):
Him?
Speaker 3 (01:11:07):
Me tell you, I love Shanahan, But Shanahan looks right
thank you, boy Shanahan for the Niners.
Speaker 1 (01:11:13):
That job man is tearing that guy down. Listen.
Speaker 3 (01:11:18):
I reference it to Barack Obama. When he got to
the office, he had black hair. It got almost white.
Minute he got out of office, he lost his wrinkles,
lost his back on his eyes, and the hair's back
black again. And it's not just for men, like I'm
put in my beard. That's that's stress, not stressing age.
Speaker 1 (01:11:37):
He looks old is He.
Speaker 3 (01:11:38):
Looks stressed and old as hell, and he's in his
forties and he's only in his second year coaching Lebron.
Speaker 1 (01:11:45):
It weighs on you, man. I did watch him.
Speaker 2 (01:11:47):
I did watch him post game last night, and I
was thinking the same thing, like, where did all that
gray hair suddenly show up on JJ reddick out of stress?
Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
It's science, guys, go look it up. I'm not making
this stuff up. You could google this stuff. I say,
that is is a hard Did he look like that
at the beginning of the season with Lebron's out, No,
he was.
Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
I mean when they got off to what was it,
fifteen and four, eighteen and four whatever they rich Paul.
Speaker 3 (01:12:10):
Sent his silly, lame ass next to Max keller Man Max,
I love you, brother, but that's the wrong move.
Speaker 1 (01:12:15):
Dog. You should not be part of this. You should
you should not be part of this.
Speaker 3 (01:12:19):
But Rich Paul sent his little lame ass down running
his mouth now talking about trading players. And JJ's got
to sit here every day and answer this stuff. I'm
telling you, man, it tears you down. That's why I
like back to Mike McCarthy. He's been away for a
few years. Yeah, I think he's got some rejuvenation. One
year has it been one.
Speaker 5 (01:12:38):
For four years?
Speaker 1 (01:12:40):
Shot number took over there? All right? So but one
year away? Okay, that's the name o Tomin will ever
coach again in the NFL next year? I mean, I'm sorry,
I'm twenty seven. Absolutely, he's not done. He's not done.
And I don't think he goes in those TV like
everybody thinks. Is Mike McDaniel gonna get a head job
or offensive coordinator job?
Speaker 3 (01:12:58):
If Cleveland doesn't hire him as the head coach, he'll
get a coordinator job. But Cleveland, I think Cleve you
better with.
Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
Mike McDaniel in Cleveland or Jesse Minter where defensive coordinator.
Cleveland browns Mike McDaniel because you've got to get some
health for your fines.
Speaker 5 (01:13:11):
If you gotta get I'm just taking a job like
I would Rach.
Speaker 1 (01:13:16):
I'd rather be the Jons. I'd rather be the OC
in Philadelphia. Let me ask if we're just gonna do
it teams that can use him.
Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
Let me ask Chris question, you think Jim Schwartz deserves
another opportunity to be a head coach.
Speaker 8 (01:13:29):
That's a tough one, just because we haven't seen him
do it in so long, and I feel like if
he was going to have the shot, it was probably
going to be coming out of Philadelphia, but that one busted.
Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
Out, like second interview with Cleveland. Look, if he does,
I'm all for it. I don't stat is that there
have been no Lions head coaches once they get fired
from the Lions, who become a head coach somewhere else
since I think nineteen sixty two. That is like going
to the Lions not succeeding is a death sentence to
your career or I think, however, in the case of
(01:14:01):
Jim Schwartz has always been look at, this guy is
an amazing defensive coordinator. You're just worrying about his temperament
as a person. I mean, you know he would you know,
he wouldn't shake hands. I mean problem to Jim Harbaugh,
I think was Jim slapped the hell out of his back.
Speaker 3 (01:14:17):
Yeah, but that was a big win. If you remember
that year, that was the Bay that was the coming
out game. My friend of maud Brooks was on that team.
That was the coming out.
Speaker 1 (01:14:26):
Game where people go, whoa hold on? Jim, Jim Heiners
team Shaw in Detroit.
Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
I was so happy that Lafloor got the extension of
the Packers just to see him and Ben Johnson go
at it for the next several years.
Speaker 1 (01:14:37):
I need, we need to, Yeah, we need.
Speaker 5 (01:14:40):
I think the Cleveland job is really simple. Honestly. I
think you hire that granty guy, the thirty year old
coach you think, and you just tell him, look, whatever happens.
Speaker 1 (01:14:49):
Next it would be the youngest coaching He would actually
break Sean mcvay's records, the youngest head coach in NFL.
His going. If you think he's the next McVeigh, then
you hire him.
Speaker 5 (01:15:00):
You tell him, whatever happens next year is not your fault.
We're gonna give you this. Jim Schwartz, your defensive coordinator
is gonna handle everything. Defensively, you can handle everything on
the offense and they're gonna be.
Speaker 3 (01:15:13):
Bad.
Speaker 5 (01:15:14):
And then you can just draft arch Manning and that's
your guy. And then we'll go from there and we'll
see what it means.
Speaker 1 (01:15:20):
Nine vacancies, I mean we're used to five or six.
That's over a fourth at the league that we've already
where the biggest names are off the board's golf Afterski, well.
Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
There's a lot. I mean the recycled jobs. Guys could
come back. I mean, is Cliff Kingsbury and play with
the Raiders.
Speaker 8 (01:15:39):
I was gonna say, this is the year where like
you wanted a coach because all of the best names
are out there. Are sure Johnson?
Speaker 5 (01:15:46):
Are we sure this is the final crop of openings to.
Speaker 1 (01:15:51):
No, well we're not. We waited on why would you
bring them back? Okay, the GM so down for a second.
Know how much I hate that guy that's called Growth.
All right, we'll continue this on the other side, and
(01:16:12):
we're gonna get you.
Speaker 2 (01:16:13):
Ready, we are fifteen minutes away kickoff Patriots and Texans.
Speaker 1 (01:16:18):
This is end Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:16:20):
Harvin and Husky here end Zone Radio in the Fox
Sports Radio studios. Now, if you missed any of today's show.

today's podcast will be posted. Sure to follow the podcast
rated five stars and you can even provide a review. Again,
just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts.
(01:16:43):
You find today's full show posted right after we get
off the air. All right, we have been hot and
heavy here talking about this coaching there. I mean, see
it's a treat because you have you know, it's really
a mixed bag of jobs available. I mean there's some
really attractive job Again when we talk about the Ravens
and the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (01:17:03):
The best job you asked me, but you didn't give
one because I have no question that's that's easy take them.
But I mean if you if you talk about Steelers,
look what are you looking for as a coach? Again,
it's the organization. It's the organization. Can I Steelers solid?
Speaker 5 (01:17:25):
I think the Ravens are the worst?
Speaker 6 (01:17:27):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:17:28):
Hell go there? All right? What you have there?
Speaker 5 (01:17:31):
But the expectations, Yeah, you immediately have to come in
and basically like you have to come in and you
have to win and you have to get to the
AMC championship year one.
Speaker 1 (01:17:42):
Yeah, Well, the thing about it is.
Speaker 5 (01:17:44):
This, it's about Nick Saban in Alabama. I wouldn't want
to be that guy.
Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
Well that that is another problem. And you mentioned Jimmy Johnson,
who did he follow Don chule I mean he was
waiting for that, Remember you went to Fox. He wanted
to be back in Miami one of that job.
Speaker 2 (01:18:01):
They basically finally and you know they weren't gonna fire
Don Shulby, you know, eased him out the door.
Speaker 1 (01:18:07):
So Jimmy would take the job.
Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
And he was record let him get that exactly, but
they sort of eased him out the door. I mean,
I understand what you're saying bow about the Ravens job,
but to me, whoever gets that job is really going
to expose who is Lamar Jackson?
Speaker 1 (01:18:25):
Is Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 2 (01:18:26):
Look, he's had Hall of Fame numbers, I mean, unbelievable
statistical years in winning MVP awards. Could have won easily
a third MVP last year, but he has. But he's
had some injuries and his numbers guys in the postseason
are way down. When you look at his passer rating
regular season versus postseason, it's like thirty points lower.
Speaker 3 (01:18:49):
Let me let me show is that the coaching is that, Lamar,
We're gonna find out. Let me ask you both Raiders,
how how how how appealing is there? Like you got
you have to listen, you're gonna new running back in football,
You have a defense off of the offensive line, you
got the coordinator and no coach. You gotta find a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:19:09):
That's fine.
Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
Most that's most teams that need to coach the quarterback, right,
So your game, Mendoza, most teams that need a.
Speaker 1 (01:19:15):
Coach, guys, they need a quarterback. I just think that's
normally what gets you fired.
Speaker 5 (01:19:18):
The Vegas stuff is so weird because how how much
input does Tom Brady actually have and what Tom Brady
needs to step up and everything. Everything there just feels
so weird. And it's just not Vegas doesn't feel like
a football town.
Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
Like, well, they're not committed to the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
Anyone that's in Vegas will tell you the nights or
the team because we're going there.
Speaker 1 (01:19:40):
The wrong team there.
Speaker 3 (01:19:41):
I've been saying since day one, if you when when
all this started, if you were gonna move these three
teams right, so you had the Rams.
Speaker 1 (01:19:48):
Chargers and Raiders, right, it would have been the charge.
I thought. I thought they should have put the Chargers
in Vegas. You know, one of the Rams back.
Speaker 2 (01:19:54):
To Los Angeles is what they should have done. You know,
the mayors of Vegas they like this been a wife
team of mayors there and they were lifelong Charger fans.
That's the team they wanted. They wanted to charge. They
wanted the Chargers should be there. Yes, the Raiders should
be No why because Quanky knew if I, if I'm
sharing the building with the Raiders, They're gonna they're the team.
Speaker 1 (01:20:17):
I mean, they do surveys all the time, like who's
the team in LA?
Speaker 2 (01:20:21):
It's still the Raiders, guys, Raiders way over the Rams
and the Chargers, and it is and will continue.
Speaker 1 (01:20:28):
And Quanky knew that I didn't blame.
Speaker 2 (01:20:30):
He knew if I brought the Charges, and no one
gives a rats ass about the Chargers in LA.
Speaker 1 (01:20:35):
So anyway, all right, coming up on the O.
Speaker 2 (01:20:37):
Set, we get ready to kick off this game. We
go to the Patriots. It's the Texas for a spot
in the AFC Championship.
Speaker 1 (01:20:43):
This is end Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
We're getting ready for kickoff right now in this game
between the Patriots and the Texans winner of this game,
we'll move on to the AFC Championship game in Denver
next week.
Speaker 1 (01:20:58):
All right, do you know what time it is? No huddle?
Speaker 2 (01:21:01):
It's for the no hud Allow right now, you're right
about that, Chris, I'll tell you what it's. Uh, the
weather is cold, no question about that, although it's I'm
checking the weather report right now and the numbers. The
way I look at the players, and obviously this new
phenomenon that they started over the last I know five
(01:21:23):
ten years, where you have these the crews have to
sit in the elements outside.
Speaker 1 (01:21:29):
What is that about? I mean, you don't have It's
sort of like that weather guy that's in the middle
of a hurricane holding on for his life. I get it.
Speaker 2 (01:21:39):
It's you don't have to put your life in danger
to tell us that there's a hurricane going on. You
don't have to put these guys out in the elements,
sitting there freezing their ass off. You know, they're covered
from head to toe to tell us it's cold. Okay,
we get it, it's cold.
Speaker 3 (01:21:55):
You want to be part of this, You want to
work and make millions and make hundreds of thousands of dollars,
sit your ass out here in the cold.
Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
So I just steve You've done and I'd do it.
Speaker 2 (01:22:03):
Man, it is but you know the memory man, like
you played the game, is there was between planing cold
and are just saying and just standing there?
Speaker 1 (01:22:10):
He too, is that there was in planning.
Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
He are standing on the sideline just coaching with the
sun beating down on you while your coaching staff decided
to wear black shirts that day.
Speaker 1 (01:22:19):
You try that one in the valley of a hunt.
Speaker 2 (01:22:21):
I told you this when I did the sidelines for
UCLA football very first game I did nineteen ninety five,
Ucla at the Rose Bowl hosting the U the University
of Miami. This is Butch Davis's first game. And you
see I kicked our ass that day. But I I
get to the Pasadena Parking live right there at the
Rose Bowl, and the temperature gauge in my car set
(01:22:43):
one hundred and eight.
Speaker 1 (01:22:45):
And then I opened the door and it was like, wow,
sounds right. And so I walk out onto the field
at the Rose Bowl and on the field it is hot,
tiver hot. And so I got like khaki slacks, I
have a short sleeve shirt.
Speaker 2 (01:22:58):
I am baking matter and Terry Donne whose flash air
as the coach at UCLA and the coach staff run
out in the field in shorts.
Speaker 1 (01:23:06):
When have you ever seen an.
Speaker 2 (01:23:07):
Entire coaching staff in shorts? So they had the gatorade,
you know, the table with the gatorade cups. I was
knocking players over.
Speaker 3 (01:23:15):
I'm like to get the entire and that gatorade is
warm by the time it sits on the endom cups.
Speaker 1 (01:23:20):
Long run.
Speaker 2 (01:23:21):
By the way, I've asked I've asked this before of
my dear friend Rich Ornberger, who played in the NFL
obviously Penn State standout. I said, if I were to
give you five choices of extreme weather, okay, these categories
at the extreme level, what's the easiest.
Speaker 1 (01:23:38):
What's the most difficult?
Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
So extreme cold, extreme heat, extreme rain, extreme snow, or
extreme wind.
Speaker 1 (01:23:51):
Those are the four. At an extreme level, what's the
most say he goes the easiest of snow snow. Snow
is the easiest. Extreme snow would be the easiest. As
far as playing in wind.
Speaker 2 (01:24:05):
Extreme win, first of all, makes it very difficult to
throw a football, obviously if it's an extreme win. The
kicking game, You've seen those game where kickers of the
ball goes sideways, especially in Chicago, very different win. But
you know, when you talk about extreme, let me ask you,
did you played extreme cold or extreme heat?
Speaker 1 (01:24:23):
Which one? I rather harder, harder to play eat because
you have to be high strated. Exactly, he would. I've
watched players drop.
Speaker 3 (01:24:30):
I've watched players drop college, whether it's some are pro,
whether it's high school. You're playing in the extreme because
you start in August, and that's why you do toour
days in July to try to get used to it.
But too a day's is nothing compared to line it
up from an opposite, an opposite, you know, helmet and
jersey and now going at it full speed, full throttle
(01:24:50):
and one hundred degree one hundred and one. Now back
east where I grew up to we have something that
you guys don't have in Los Angeles or southern California.
It's called humidity, and you guys don't have that here.
So where they in the cold, where they go, oh,
it's twenty but feels like minus nine. Okay, imagine playing
in ninety five, but it feels like one oh four.
Speaker 1 (01:25:09):
Like that that it sticks on.
Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
You go to Florida in September or August to go
to go to Georgia in July. You're gonna find out
what humidity.
Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
Man, that's that's different, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:25:18):
So the opening drive the Patriots three and out, although
that's second down play, don't look like interference.
Speaker 1 (01:25:25):
To me, that's a good play. You can't even stripping
his hands before the ball got there.
Speaker 3 (01:25:29):
Let me tell you something when you get to this
point right here, listen, this is my problem with the
way they call defensive penalties in football.
Speaker 1 (01:25:36):
I can't play the game of football and you tell
me I can't touch a guy. I know, but you
can't touch it for the kids. Now, I thought that
was I thought if it was Steve, it's half a second. Man,
they give it.
Speaker 3 (01:25:48):
You gotta give me because offensive guys get to push
off and tackles get the lineup in the backfield. You
can't give the offense everything. And I'm an offensive guy. Yeah,
I'm an offensive coordinator, right, but you can't give the
offense every damn thing. This In the game against Pittsburgh,
c J. Stroud fumbled the ball five times in that game.
I know, five fumbles.
Speaker 1 (01:26:06):
Now, he only lost two of them.
Speaker 2 (01:26:08):
He fumbled five times and these two quarterbacks today, Drake
may c J.
Speaker 1 (01:26:13):
Stroud, I mean, cliche call of what you will.
Speaker 2 (01:26:16):
I mean, but this, this, this whole game is gonna
hang on these two quarterbacks. Like who is going to
play better today? He is going to win the game.
Speaker 3 (01:26:24):
I don't know if he plays better than Drake maybe,
but he's going to play better today then he played
then he played last week.
Speaker 1 (01:26:29):
Well, that first throw is about as bad as he gets.
I mean, wow, what was that?
Speaker 2 (01:26:34):
He looked like he lost his grip on the ball.
So right now it's raining, so it's cold and wet.
It's not snowing because the temperatures in the high thirties.
But he lost the grip on this thing and that
was wow. And the look at the slippery field as well.
Speaker 1 (01:26:51):
He missed, Yeah, he misses that. That's a miss throw.
But Kurt, Wow, yeah. Yeah. So right now, that's the weather.
Speaker 2 (01:26:56):
Because you talk about difficult conditions, cold running, running the ball,
that's what we're talking about. It's temperature is about thirty
eight degrees and it is cold rain going on right
now in the Boston areas. So we'll see how they
do on their opening drive. But again, Patriots three and out,
to start this game. But you know what I don't
like about the play calling that I'm seeing right now
from both teams. Number one, why are both quarterbacks under
(01:27:19):
the center. It's cold, it's raining, like you just said.
And why are they throwing the ball already? Again it's
a completed ball.
Speaker 3 (01:27:25):
Actually, nope, incomplete because Christian Kirk can't catch a wet
football which almost gets intercepted and they go three. And
now this is bad play calling in a game like this.
For me as a coach is an offensive coordinator. I'm
coming out with a fallback and a tight end and
two receivers. My first five plays already scripted. We're running
the football. I'm turning and handed to the guy behind me,
(01:27:45):
and let's get the line moving forward. Let's get guys
firing off the ball. I guarantee if rich Ohnberger was
sitting here, he'd agree with me on this. And this
man won the Super Bowl with Tom Brady. I guarantee
you he would agree. So I Vj's right about in
the weather and the incal and the inclement weather and
the conditions.
Speaker 1 (01:28:01):
Like this, run the ball early.
Speaker 3 (01:28:03):
Let's say, even if you get a three and out five,
But let's get the linemen going forward, Steve instead of
standing up and have to like not be pushed backwards.
I just don't like to play calling for either team.
Guarantee you the Patriots coming out care for clarification.
Speaker 2 (01:28:18):
Whereas he lost the Super Bowl already, they lost the
second game to the Giant.
Speaker 1 (01:28:24):
Okay, my bad.
Speaker 2 (01:28:26):
Well, the funny thing about that was he he got
released by the Patriots after that season, and then all
of a sudden the mail.
Speaker 1 (01:28:32):
He gets a box, right, he gets a box in
the mail and he's like, what is this.
Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
He opens up this box and it's his AFC Championship ring,
and he's like, the losers get a ring.
Speaker 1 (01:28:43):
We lost the Super Bowl. Losers get a ring. He
didn't know. He thought it goes. I thought I had
to win the game. Really cool.
Speaker 2 (01:28:50):
The Willard conditions right now, at least based on those
first two drives, are going to be in factor because
it's not just the fact that.
Speaker 1 (01:28:55):
We've seen some drop passes already. The footing does not
seem good. Out is bad.
Speaker 3 (01:29:01):
Quick sidebar. You haven't said it yet. Mancy says she
wanted to. If Montay can't hear me, Monty says she
wanted to hear about the Hall of Fame thing. The
Hall of Fame?
Speaker 1 (01:29:09):
What did you wear on on state?
Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
Like you had this, you had your own suit jacket on,
but you took your own suit jacket off because.
Speaker 2 (01:29:18):
Like something was given to you to wear when you
made your speech. So this is what happened, Eric Dickerson.
We had a chance to pick our presenter. I didn't
even know this until they reached out to me and said,
who would you like as your presenter? And the reason
I picked Eric, I mean, obviously he's been a family
friend for a long time, but I was I was
(01:29:39):
a big champion of him getting into the College Football
Hall of Fame. And so it took forever, and I
think somehow you got tied into the scandal that really
after him, of course, and then uh so he finally
gets in and they moved it from New York to Vegas.
It was right after the COVID so they had to
cancel the year. So, you know, Denise and I decide
we're definitely going to be and he goes absolutely.
Speaker 1 (01:30:01):
He made sure that we were with his party, his group.
It was great.
Speaker 2 (01:30:04):
I mean, we had a phenomenal time. And so he
had actually said to me at that time. He goes, uh,
you know if you did, you have hall of Fames.
I go, well, I'm in the Southern California Jewish Sports
Hall of Fame, but you know there is the Southern
California Sports Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (01:30:19):
He goes, well, if you ever get in, you know,
I'll be I'll be there. So I thought about him.
Speaker 2 (01:30:23):
So anyway, he would go to the event on Tuesday
and Eric walks in and he's wearing his gold jacket,
his old Pro Football Hall of Fame gold jacket. And
I look at him. I've known him for twenty years.
I go, I have never seen you wear that, and
he goes, that's because I never wear it. He said,
he ain't wearing it. Doesn't he doesn't wear it because
but I thought i'd wear it because it's your big day.
Speaker 1 (01:30:44):
I said, well, that's really cool.
Speaker 2 (01:30:46):
So he gets up there to do his presentation of
me and say nice things and everything else, and then
he starts taking off the jacket and he says, I
want you to wear the gold jacket. So I walk
up on stage. It was a little surreal. I take
off Mike Code and he puts the gold jacket on me.
And it fit good too, man, shoulders fit yeah, well
(01:31:10):
it fit on you.
Speaker 3 (01:31:11):
But let me let me, let me help jazz it
up a little bit because Eric Dickerson's up there and
he's got a speech, guys, and he's trying to say
these words, and he actually stumbles a few tons because
that's not Eric Dickerson. He's not a read paper guy.
You're gonna get real from Eric Dickerson. And you guys
know this if you ever talk to the man he
came on and told us about the Schador thing because
(01:31:31):
he got caught at TMZ at the LAX And he goes, listen,
I tell you people all the time, if you want
the truth, if you don't want the truth, don't ask me.
Don't ask me if you don't want the truth, because
I'm only going to tell you the truth. But he
at one point he almost kind of balls up. The
pay goes, look, man, I could sit up here and
say all this stuff, but I'm gonna talk about Steve
as I know Steve, not all these accolades and stuff.
(01:31:52):
And he goes, but what I want to do is
I he was that you know, my induction hall of fingers.
But what I'm gonna do right now is take off
my Hall of Fame jacket. In the room grows like whoa,
and we all stand up. This man takes off his
Hall of Fame jacket and puts it on my partner.
And I'm watching my partner up there give his Hall
of Fame speech wearing a pro football Hall of Fame jacket,
(01:32:17):
which I've guarantee you had never been done in the
history of the Southern California sports.
Speaker 1 (01:32:25):
Done. That has never been VJ. If you want to
see that jacket, come over to the house.
Speaker 3 (01:32:30):
Coming over, he's got its still sitting there. He still
has What the egos that these gots. That's what makes
Eric Dickerson honestly so great. What the egos we know
these guys got. Also, by the way, Eric has to
leave because he's got to go do five to seventy correct. So,
but Steve is still on stage finishing his speech. Two
people grab Eric and go, hold on, man, your jacket
(01:32:53):
without hesitation. Guys, I'm literally standing one foot away from this,
so I hear it without hesitation. He goes, oh, man,
I'll get it and walks out the door. And that
tournament it's still hanging up that's your Hall of Fame
jacket and your attitude is I'll get it. But it's
not the jacket, it's the friendship. Yes. And the thing
he said about you is he said, heading over there,
(01:33:15):
He called Marcus Allen, yes and said, hey, man, I'm,
you know, going over here for Steve.
Speaker 1 (01:33:19):
And what should I say?
Speaker 6 (01:33:21):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:33:21):
I don't. I don't know what I was.
Speaker 3 (01:33:22):
I didn't know what I was going to say. And
tell us stood up. He goes, we love Steve and
like Steve because you can trust thee trust. He said,
you could trust Steve. He goes, what you guys don't know?
He goes, us athletes, we don't like y'all. He said
that verb. He goes, us athletes. We don't like y'all.
You know, your broadcasters and stuff. You're talking make us
look good and stuff. He goes, But do our playing creer.
(01:33:43):
We don't like her. He goes, but Steve we can trust.
We trusted Steve, and that taught me something like, Wow,
if these athletes trust you, they'll talk to you man.
Speaker 1 (01:33:52):
Well, that is, they'll give you what you need. I
had that with Kobe as well.
Speaker 2 (01:33:56):
So you know the thing about it is in this
business it's not that you can't be critic be upfront
about it, be real, be real, real. I will tell
you right now if you've heard me, or I will
tell you to your face right this is this is
where I see things going sideways. And you tell it
that and then you build a trust, and that's and
(01:34:17):
then you're gonna get more because then it's the personal
stuff that is between you and them. You know, that's
the kind of stuff that that just stays between us.
Speaker 1 (01:34:25):
Yep. I'm not going to you know, tell everybody this
or that, and and that that's where the trust is.
Speaker 5 (01:34:30):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:34:31):
We have just got a touchdown by the pat Patriots
right down the field Drake made delivering was that I
didn't see it.
Speaker 1 (01:34:41):
There was a slant.
Speaker 3 (01:34:41):
There was a slant that Douglas the defensive bat missed
the tackle and these wet and these wet conditions. But
there's a bust in coverage somewhere on his plate because
even after he missed his tackle, there's no one left
and any sprints for the end zone. So six nothing
with the extra point coming up in non thirty five mark.
Speaker 2 (01:34:55):
In front, all right, So Drake may now five of
six to start the game. Fifty four you and that
touchdown pass to Mario Douglas diy sneak in the extra point.
Seven nothing Patriots, nine and a half minutes to go
in the first quarter. We'll continue on with this game.
Get you ready for tonight's matchup between the Bears and Rams.
This is en Zo Radio, Enzo Radio, Hartman and Husky here.
(01:35:20):
So right now seven to nothing Patriotsly, the Texans got
seven minutes to go in the first quarter. I guess
we're a little shocked again the weather conditions. It is
pouring rain and it's cold rain. Temperature is about thirty
eight degrees so not cold enough to snow. But both
teams are just throwing the ball and CJ. Stroud they
(01:35:42):
are not running the ball at all, but they are
going down the field.
Speaker 1 (01:35:46):
CJ.
Speaker 2 (01:35:46):
Stroud had a huge pass play forty two yard played
a Dalton Schultz that broke. They put him into a
deep into New England territory. But both these teams have
come out firing the ball. The Houston's only had two.
Speaker 1 (01:36:02):
Running plays in this game with this New England, by
the way, only had three running plays. Throwing the football.
That's the strategy on both sides here.
Speaker 3 (01:36:11):
In the pouring ring, not feeling this. And you go
back and look at that touchdown at New England scored
on that ball. That defender's right there. He actually tips
that ball slightly and the receiver almost drops it. It's
just I don't want to call it luck, but you know,
it's just kind of right there. It looks like you're
gonna get fifteen extra yards right now. That's half the distance,
that's half the distance to score. But I just an
inclement weather. I want to be physical. I want to
(01:36:34):
establish the line of scrimmage. I want to run the football.
You got chubbed, you got Marx, you got backs here
man Mark's the rookie out of USC.
Speaker 1 (01:36:41):
This kid's good.
Speaker 3 (01:36:42):
This kid's physical, and he's got fresh, young legs on
a young contract.
Speaker 1 (01:36:46):
Use him all right.
Speaker 2 (01:36:47):
So they have a first and goal right now the
six yard line. The Texans looking to even up this game.
Now they're running the ball and going nowhere. That went
to nowhere well, and you know, once.
Speaker 3 (01:36:57):
You get to the seven and you bring that in
extra time, it is an extual lineman, what do you
think you're running?
Speaker 1 (01:37:02):
Exactly?
Speaker 2 (01:37:02):
The problem with the passing game when you get this
fast is that you know, everyone's bunched up, right. It's
there's a reason why you're like, why is it so
hard to score when you're inside the ten yard line?
Because all the body exactly the field shrinks that everyone's
stacked together. So the Texans so far, Drake made five
of six fifty four yards in that touchdown pass.
Speaker 8 (01:37:23):
C J.
Speaker 2 (01:37:24):
Stroud three of seven sixty one yards passing so far
for the Texans quarterback. And they're a little play actually
right now and a quick toss over the middle and
that's going to get down to.
Speaker 1 (01:37:34):
About the one, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:37:36):
So you know, again when we're talking about this Houston
Texans team, this is their third consecutive year in the
Elite Eight.
Speaker 1 (01:37:43):
They won a playoff game each of these three years
with c J. Stroud.
Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
So they're off to a good start right now in
terms of finding some success, you know, just getting wins
in the postseason. The problem for them, of course, they
haven't gotten pass this point, have no division around ones, correct,
So they're they're three and ozero in the wild card
round and they're zero and two in the division around
going into today's game.
Speaker 1 (01:38:07):
Where are we going with this Texans team?
Speaker 3 (01:38:09):
Listen, I don't they need. Look no Nico today. That hurts,
and you know how much I feel about Nico.
Speaker 1 (01:38:14):
There's a flag so walking touchdown on a run, but
it looks like it was offside.
Speaker 3 (01:38:19):
I think against I want to say Ryan Stace is
off side the well they dropped the flag. I think
someone was lined up in the neutral zone as well.
Speaker 1 (01:38:26):
It's one of two things, either neutral zone or is
a legal formation.
Speaker 2 (01:38:29):
It is.
Speaker 3 (01:38:33):
And then what that is is when you when you're
moving in motion, you have to be set for one
second before you can snap the ball. And that's not
what happened. He's got a guy in motion. But that's
on you Stroud. They're showing CJ Stroud. Sorry for radio
fans out there, they're showing CJ Stroud like what with
this squinched uff look on his face? This is on
you watch this right and replay right here. He has
this set for a second. You can't snap the ball
(01:38:54):
while he's still in motion like this. Once everybody is set,
he does this set fully.
Speaker 1 (01:38:59):
Yeah, they snapped.
Speaker 2 (01:39:01):
That was why I thought someone was a neutral zone
because they literally dropped the flag meeting second the ball
was seen. That all right, So they now have a
third and goal at about the six and a half
yard line.
Speaker 1 (01:39:13):
He's going to pass looking in the end zone and
no one there. Wow, So they're gonna have to settle
for a field goal attempt. So I guess the question
is with the Texans, sure, are they built to win
a Super Bowl? I mean, that's what you know. This
is all about that. I mean, are you built to
win a Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (01:39:32):
They're They're They're not yet, But I honestly do believe
they're one offensive weapon away.
Speaker 1 (01:39:39):
They are.
Speaker 3 (01:39:39):
I love everything about this team. There's a reason why
they keep getting to the final eight. But now you
need a bonify they got. They got Nico, and I
love Nico, but I still think there's another offensive weapon
out there on the market this year. Are bringing somebody
in on the draft that you that can put your
offense over the top. I would also look at to
(01:40:00):
who's the quarterback guru coach? Who's the quarterback coach they're
working with CJ?
Speaker 1 (01:40:04):
Is he getting any right? I NEEDJ to get to
get better.
Speaker 3 (01:40:09):
But that's gonna be somebody that's gonna come in and
be that guy to help CJ get better, not just
say it and not just expect it. To be all
on CJ. Well, I keep going back to Tom Brady's comments.
You have to be able to develop a quarterback in
order for your quarterback to develop. That's just the way
it is, all right, fair bearing with the field goal
is good.
Speaker 2 (01:40:28):
So the Patriots now lead the Texans by a score
of seven to three, five and a half minutes to
go in the first quarter of this four point penalty.
Speaker 1 (01:40:36):
Man, that was a four point penalty, by the way.
Speaker 2 (01:40:38):
Getting back to my prediction of destiny, you know, I
like it the Patriots rams Super Bowl. I mean, can
you imagine the hype for Drake may going into a
Super Bowl with the legacy of Tom Brady and Super Bowls?
I mean, to be natural, right, It's like, I mean,
this guy would be sitting there, yeah, and of course
(01:40:59):
I would tell.
Speaker 1 (01:40:59):
Him, well, it wasn't like he didn't lose super Bowls.
He lost three of them. Actually, you know, he was
six and three as the Patriots quarterback in the Super Bowls.
Speaker 2 (01:41:07):
Want to know with Tampa Bay. But I mean that's
something that Drake Maine is gonna have to live with
as long as he's the Patriots quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:41:15):
Was he there? I was telling the Patriots. You don't
got to win six, but I do believe you got
to put a couple up. Only you don't gotta win
because you're not gonna win six. You're not gonna win six.
Those days of the NFL in a way, rosters and
money is set and everything, these new TV deals, the
bargaining agreement, aud everything's so different. Now you're not gonna
win six, but you you are following the goat man.
(01:41:37):
You gotta probably hang you gotta hang a couple up
there though. Yeah, it's it's that, and it's gonna be forever.
Speaker 2 (01:41:42):
I used the UCLA basketball situation every time they would
hire a new coach.
Speaker 1 (01:41:47):
They realize, I'm not being compared to my predecessor. There's
John Wooden, John Wooden, John Wooden, John Wooden.
Speaker 2 (01:41:53):
If the guy who replaces John Wooden, it never goes
away as unrealistic.
Speaker 3 (01:41:59):
Ever comes after higher. You're not going to be compared
to Shire. You're gonna be cared in coach k like
Dean Smith. Like that's why when Roy Williams came.
Speaker 2 (01:42:06):
In, he won more championships, said North Carolina anyway, and
he needed to, he needed and he needed to. We'll
look at Nick Saban and Bear Bryant, right, how you
the bear had to.
Speaker 3 (01:42:15):
That's why I feel like I'm with bo Man, like Kate,
like the boar that honestly, Man, I understand you wanted
to bay him a job, but you following Nick Saban, bro,
they want you to win every year.
Speaker 1 (01:42:25):
Yeah, getting get.
Speaker 3 (01:42:26):
Into the second round in the college football playoff is
not going to keep your job there.
Speaker 2 (01:42:29):
So all those years and Nick was there, you know,
it was still about the bear, right until he finally
got past the bear. Then you become the new standard.
All right, let's find out what is trending right now.
How about those weather conditions. We got pouring rain on see,
but it's not cold enough to snow, so thirty eight degrees.
Speaker 1 (01:42:48):
Pouring rain, which at this point I feel like you
just just give me the snow. I feel like that's
easier than will tell you you here to maneuver in.
Speaker 7 (01:42:57):
Then the wet rain makes perfect sense. So I feel
like this it gets extra slippery. I know the snow
eventually melts, but like at this, it's just.
Speaker 1 (01:43:06):
A scary time. Any wrong step, any wrong you know
what I mean?
Speaker 3 (01:43:09):
Actually, snow adds gives you more traction, yes, because snow,
especially if it's especially if it's the wet snow.
Speaker 1 (01:43:16):
Powdery no, but wet snow you can step in.
Speaker 3 (01:43:19):
You can actually cut and get you just put longer
cleats on, you put longer studs in.
Speaker 1 (01:43:23):
And wet snow actually you can run and cut on it.
Speaker 3 (01:43:26):
It's the light stuff, the pottery stuff, and just slide
around and slip on like rain.
Speaker 1 (01:43:30):
I was just like, well it melts, so I know eventually.
Speaker 3 (01:43:33):
But yeah, yeah, the more you run on the field
and where you step on it, it actually adds another
layer of a of a of a field for you underneath.
Speaker 1 (01:43:42):
It shows how much one I don't go near snow.
Speaker 7 (01:43:44):
Not only that, but yeah, steph, my cleats wearing days
were for softball, never for football.
Speaker 1 (01:43:55):
You are right all right, guys. England.
Speaker 7 (01:43:58):
The New England Patriots have the early lead against the
Houston Texans. They both punted on their opening drives, but
New England got in the end zone as Drake May
connected with the Mario Douglas.
Speaker 1 (01:44:07):
Houston almost got in the end zone as you guys
discussed it, but they settled for a field goal.
Speaker 7 (01:44:11):
So New England is up seven to three, still about
five minutes to go in the first quarter and obviously
still to come. It's the Rams and the Bears, but
that's gonna kick off at six thirty Eastern time. Other
NFL notes here, Steelers are expected to speak with former
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy about their head coach vacancy.
The former Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel schedule to interview with
everybody but in person interview Wednesday with the Browns for
(01:44:34):
their head coaching job. Eagles are expected to interview former
Giants head coach Brian Dable for their.
Speaker 1 (01:44:39):
Offensive coordinator vacancy.
Speaker 7 (01:44:41):
When it comes to college football, Yespin reports that former
Florida quarterback DJ Lagway is signing with Baylor.
Speaker 1 (01:44:48):
Wow on the move, Wow all hype he had coming in. Yes,
this just came out. I've got baseball news for you.
Speaker 7 (01:44:56):
Brave shortstop Hassan Kim, who resigned last month apparently stained
a hand injury in Korea. He just underwent surgery to
repair a torn tendon in his right middle finger.
Speaker 1 (01:45:06):
He is out forty five months short. It's not for
the Braves.
Speaker 7 (01:45:08):
Done and in the NBA, Ja Moran, who had missed
the last couple of weeks or the last six games
to be exact with the injury. He played today in
London he had twenty four points thirteen assists and the
Grizzlies defeated the Magic One twenty six to one oh nine.
Speaker 1 (01:45:20):
Will he be traded? I don't know. Is that a
fumble back to it looks like it was absolutely so.
Speaker 2 (01:45:25):
Drake May went back to pass and he got hit
as he was throwing the ball and was a fumble
but recovered by New England.
Speaker 1 (01:45:33):
There you going. The Texans had a golden opportunity here.
So his arm goes back. That is a fumble. That's
no caution. Yeah, and the Taxans were all over but
everyone again is I guess and sliding? Yeah? I guess who?
Speaker 2 (01:45:48):
Yeah, well he just comes off the edge and right
there like look look at the tech guys who got
three got it on the falling, got.
Speaker 1 (01:45:56):
On the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:45:56):
They're cut bunny out of their end zone, almost blocked.
And so New England was very bad. Your return here,
that was a decent punt, by the way, really fast, Monty.
I went through the gift bag that you had got
everybody for Christmas.
Speaker 1 (01:46:09):
Uh huh.
Speaker 3 (01:46:10):
The best thing and I forgot about I was in
my backpack the best, the best.
Speaker 1 (01:46:15):
Damn thing in there.
Speaker 3 (01:46:16):
Oh yeah, I haven't opened it because I just because
I don't want it.
Speaker 1 (01:46:19):
I don't want to use it. No, I hear you.
Speaker 3 (01:46:21):
Because air fresheners, once you use them, it's like the
trees you put your card, goes home two weeks and
then after that it's just a red tree hanging on
hanging on your gearshift. But Monty gave me and you know,
like come on a football air fresher from bathroom body works.
I want you to know I will never use this.
Speaker 7 (01:46:39):
I mean I'll get you another one when they come
back out, because I think they're done.
Speaker 1 (01:46:42):
You know, it was like for the football season nineteen ninety.
I saw, I said, holy Cross said you know.
Speaker 3 (01:46:46):
What she mad?
Speaker 1 (01:46:47):
She yeah, I hate that. He told me he's actually
going to frame it. He's going to frame it because
saw use it.
Speaker 7 (01:46:57):
But cut like the edge of it, and then it'll
it'll release slowly. Cut the edge of the plastic instead
of taking it all out, just cut and.
Speaker 3 (01:47:07):
So it'll Somebody told me I used to go on
my car. Yeah, the car on the car trees, Steve.
If you pull it, if you look on the back,
it shows you each week how you're supposed to raise
it up out of the plastic, and my dumb asses
pulled a whole thing. I said, Man, I'm not about
the half plastic hanging from my way, but I just want.
Speaker 1 (01:47:25):
To tell you, yeah, thank you very nice. You're welcome, all.
Speaker 2 (01:47:28):
Right, once again, thank you man. So we'll talk to
you a little bit later on. We're in the Fox
Sports Radio studios. With the iHeartRadio app, you can stream
us wherever you happen to be. Catch us and all
of our Fox Sports Radio shows live twenty four to
seven and the new one approved iHeartRadio app. Just search
Fox Sports Radio in the app to stream us live
all day every day, and I'd be sure to select
(01:47:49):
Fox Sports Radio is one of your presets in the
iHeart app, So always pop up at the top of
your screen. All right, So the inside four minutes ago
now in the first quarter, and the Patriot says, we
mentioned very fortunate on the fumble by Drake may as
he got hit right as he was throwing the ball
recovered by the Patriots and they punted out of the
(01:48:09):
end zone. So now Houston will take over near midfield
slightly into New England territory. And this wor CJ. Stroud
has got to get something going here. When you have
opportunities like this, you have to take advantage, not with
field goes. You need to get the ball in the
end zone. And because that's the thing about having a
great defense. When you have the lead and a great defense,
(01:48:33):
they can really start teeing off and that's where your
defense continues to get better and better better.
Speaker 1 (01:48:38):
And you know, when we talk about what happened in that.
Speaker 2 (01:48:40):
Steelers game, remember that is still a seven to sixth
game going into the fourth quarter, and then they got
a field goal.
Speaker 1 (01:48:47):
Now it's ten to six.
Speaker 2 (01:48:49):
And then of course, by the way, do you think
that Rogers got hit in the helmet when he fumbled
that ball that was picked up and run into the
end zone because he stayed on the.
Speaker 3 (01:48:57):
Ground at what point like he was falling fumble or
after the fumble. Well, no, on the fumble, I just know,
I know what you're talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:49:05):
I saw that.
Speaker 3 (01:49:06):
But my thing is I'm being blocked. I'm coming around
trying to swipe it the ball. I'm not trying to hit.
Speaker 2 (01:49:12):
But you saw Ann Rodgers on the ground. He looked dazed,
like he didn't even move while he's old.
Speaker 1 (01:49:18):
I mean you old man. Like when you're old and
you get hit, it's gonna feel different, especially if you
get clobbered in his head. Go sit down here. You
had a great career, You're a Hall of Famer. Go
sit down. It's over the Please, please do not drag
out whether if somebody's willing him to be a quarterback,
he's going to continue to play. Well, how much money
do you need?
Speaker 6 (01:49:35):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:49:35):
Well, it's not about money. It's about you know these guys.
Much money do you need?
Speaker 2 (01:49:39):
By the way, money, here's the gestions again, they're still
throwing the ball on every down.
Speaker 3 (01:49:43):
And as there are two places where Rodgers is going
to be next year, Okay, either his couch.
Speaker 5 (01:49:51):
Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (01:49:53):
Well he want he wanted to go in.
Speaker 5 (01:49:58):
At the very least competition for JJ.
Speaker 1 (01:50:00):
I agree with that. Bringing a vet to to push JJ.
I'm not mad at that, and JJ's my guy.
Speaker 5 (01:50:04):
Those are the only two places that he'll be next year.
Speaker 1 (01:50:06):
No, he begged, Minnesota, he said, but they already made
out the door. Though. Yeah, I think they were gonna
do that.
Speaker 3 (01:50:12):
If they were gonna do that, I feel you, bo,
But I just at this point, oh, what a cat
at this point, I think there's other veterans that you
can hell bring in Marcus Mariota bring bring in a difference.
But I do believe there needs to be a vet
that could still go. Though Aaron Rodgers guys didn't play well.
He didn't play great this year. Check out this catch
(01:50:33):
by Jaden Higgins Man. That's a beautiful catch. Let's let
let's not forget that Joe Burrow missed nine weeks. Let's
not forget that. Yeah, and the way and Lamar missed
five weeks. There's some there's there's a reason why the
Steelers team and Mike Tomlin again and I was wrong,
didn't go under five hundred this year. I do believe
if those two guys are playing seventeen for their teams
(01:50:56):
this Stillers might have one.
Speaker 1 (01:50:57):
Oh, they're going for it on fourth and one, a
straight run and it is a first down with bear.
I hate the stutter step though, right.
Speaker 3 (01:51:03):
There, Ah, it's a first down, but but I love
to watch players stand up and put the fist up
like it's fourth.
Speaker 2 (01:51:09):
Well, it was interesting because it was fourth and less
than a yard, fourth and half a yard for the Texans,
right play to go for it, But you can see
he was trying to get New England to jump off side.
Speaker 1 (01:51:19):
They didn't bite, and then they ran the play and
barely got that first out really fast.
Speaker 3 (01:51:25):
We talked about the Raiders earlier. Do you think Tom Brady,
being an older guy and played that long, would reach
out to Aaron four year even if you're gonna draft Mendoza,
Even if you're gonna draft Mendoza, still bring in a
veteran and say, look, Mendoza learned learned? Oh no, did
stro just do that like Len learn first?
Speaker 1 (01:51:46):
I don't either. I don't think. Look, see that's what
I hate. The referees can't even agree. Wait are they?
Speaker 5 (01:51:51):
That's what?
Speaker 1 (01:51:55):
Check it out right now? It doesn't close. Oh that
easy knees in and that is clearly and he has
the ball. What is CJ. Strud doing? It's not about
the feet, it's the knees well, not from that angle
it looks like it hits on the line.
Speaker 2 (01:52:11):
No, So the deal is it's not about two feet down.
If your knees down, he can't tell from that angle.
The other question is that he have control of the ball.
Speaker 1 (01:52:23):
I think he's got control. I'm not worried about the ball.
Looking he doesn't have control here. He gets controlled right
now there and the knee is down. That's I think.
But what is Strout doing? This is what c J.
Strout does this every single week? He needs a quarterback?
Speaker 2 (01:52:41):
Just what did I just say? Got to get a
touchdown in this drive? And he throws a ball to
nobody other than New England.
Speaker 3 (01:52:48):
His defense will keep him in this game though, I've
seen the last two drives. The last two drives, the
Patriots haven't been able to do anything and they and
they got a sack and a strip. They got a
strip in a sack on the last night. So that
is an reception.
Speaker 6 (01:53:00):
C J.
Speaker 1 (01:53:01):
Stroud is five to twelfth with an interception. Why does
he have twelfth passes? I have no idea.
Speaker 3 (01:53:05):
The first quarter one carry that see, I asked bo,
I hate him on to talk back. Who's calling the
plays there?
Speaker 6 (01:53:13):
Who?
Speaker 1 (01:53:14):
Who? You said? Yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:53:16):
Nick?
Speaker 1 (01:53:17):
Yeah? Nick needs to be fired. I mean it needs
to be fired.
Speaker 5 (01:53:20):
To answer your question, I'm not bringing in Aaron Rodgers, Okay, if.
Speaker 1 (01:53:26):
I'm Roger think, I mean, you have to be careful
women Doza.
Speaker 2 (01:53:29):
I mean, look, you have a great tight end, you
have a great running back, but man that offensive line line.
Speaker 5 (01:53:36):
I just think the Vikings have so many weapons on
offense that there's show Taylor made for Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (01:53:43):
If the Raiders signed Joe Flacco, oh god.
Speaker 7 (01:53:46):
What he is?
Speaker 1 (01:53:48):
I do believe that the Raiders, though, they need to
bring in a vet. Take me into about Mariota. Just
bring that listen, Mariota showed up well this year, guys.
Speaker 5 (01:53:59):
They had already and bring bring.
Speaker 1 (01:54:02):
Them back.
Speaker 5 (01:54:04):
Smith.
Speaker 1 (01:54:06):
No no, no, no, no, no no no.
Speaker 3 (01:54:07):
You moved on from the coach. You have to move
on from everything there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but what you
bring I am. I'm okay, guys. At Mendoza is on
the bitch until week eleven, a week twelve next year.
He's not gonna change your franchise next year. Set him
up for success.
Speaker 1 (01:54:22):
All right?
Speaker 2 (01:54:22):
A minute half to go now in the first quarter,
Patriots takeover after the interception. They leave to Texas by
a score of seven to three. We got much more.
Speaker 1 (01:54:31):
It's a no huddle hour, no huddle hour, no huddle hour. Yes,
no huddle hour. Yes, this is end Zone radio.
Speaker 2 (01:54:41):
Harvin and Husky here and Zone a radio or in
the Fox Sports Radio studios. First quarter is now in
the books. Patriots lead the Texans seven to three. So
during our break, Drake May it was looked like a
busted play where they missed a handoff. He turned up
feel looked like he was trying to reach to get
the first down cleanly. The ball was knocked out of
(01:55:04):
his hands recovered by the Texans. So after the interception,
Texans get the ball back. Right now they have a
third and one, They're gonna go with the It's not
even a touch push anymore. It's pick the pick the
guy up and carry him forward.
Speaker 1 (01:55:21):
At the point the NFL rules committee is gonna have
to figure this thing out, I don't.
Speaker 5 (01:55:24):
I just say, though, it is so annoying to watch
the Bulls use the touch push or religiously when Sean
McDermott was one of the loudest people fighting band.
Speaker 3 (01:55:33):
I thought about that yesterday. I'm fine with it, and
I'm gonna stick with that. That's always been my opinion.
My thing was when Philly was killing the league with it.
If you don't like it, either learn how to stop
it or doing you By the way Texans c J.
Stroud was not the one carrying the ball. No, that's
and that's the smart thing to do exactly, I don't
have a big time quarter, Like if I don't have
Josh Allen, I bring in my backup tight end right and.
Speaker 2 (01:55:57):
I used him absolutely. I think that's that's called okay.
So it looks like snow's beginning to drop. Ye, the
snow now, so that means the temp is dropping once
against the thirty two that rain turns to snow and
it is clearly snowing right now. So the temperature has
definitely dropped. So let's see where they're playing right now.
(01:56:19):
It's nearly four o'clock in the afternoon, so the rain
has turned to snow, which I actually think is going.
Speaker 1 (01:56:24):
To help both these teams.
Speaker 2 (01:56:26):
And this is about CJ. Straud Man. He's got to
hold this thing together and not make dumb moves.
Speaker 1 (01:56:31):
Right now.
Speaker 2 (01:56:31):
They are running the ball and not having a whole
lot of luck right now. So the ball is about
the ten yard line and they need a touchdown here.
They got to get the ball in the end zone
here by the way passer radium this game, Drake May
is at one thirty three point three.
Speaker 1 (01:56:46):
CJ.
Speaker 3 (01:56:47):
Stroud is at thirty nine point six, still has a
chance to go up ten to seven. Right here if
they can get thanks to their defense setting them up.
But that's what the defense is supposed to do. That's
their job. You got to go clean house right now.
But the reason why I don't like running the ball now,
don't get down in the red zone and now you
want to line up and run.
Speaker 1 (01:57:02):
They know that's coming.
Speaker 3 (01:57:03):
We just saw this when they had the ball in
the red zone two possessions before, when they got the
field goal.
Speaker 1 (01:57:08):
But now what do you got to do on third
and four ball?
Speaker 2 (01:57:11):
Yeah, I mean this is tough for running right now.
The Texans have thirteen yards rushing and touchdown.
Speaker 1 (01:57:18):
Pass Christian Kirk.
Speaker 3 (01:57:20):
Nice passing catch with a blitz you see, that's the
seven man blitz they send it gets picked up. CJ
backs out, finds one on one coverage Christian Kirk for
the touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:57:29):
All right, So the Texans take the late nine to
seven penny and the extra point. We are two minutes
into this second all right, So New England Patriots. You know,
we've obviously talked all season long. I think when we
go back and by the way, Chris, we had some
of our preseason picks. You've been going over some of
those preseason picks.
Speaker 1 (01:57:48):
Oh yeah, yeah, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:57:49):
One of the questions I had is, so we actually,
before the season began, all of us here Monsey and
Bo and Chris and I and VJ make our predictions
on how many wins each team is going to get.
Speaker 1 (01:58:01):
So you have thirty two teams in the NFL. I've
always said this, if you can get three three out
of thirty two on the dot, okay, that's impressive.
Speaker 2 (01:58:16):
So I don't know if we can go over that
over the next couple of weeks by the time we
get to Super Bowl, to see how many correct picks
I mean on the dot predictions for wins any of
us got over the course of the season.
Speaker 1 (01:58:29):
Three is the bar. I think three is the bar.
You get more if you get more than three on
the miss man. We missed on so many?
Speaker 2 (01:58:36):
Well, of course we did, because the problem is usually
miss one that means you missed on somebody else, so
you overinflated one team and underflated another.
Speaker 1 (01:58:43):
Yeah, we missed on a couple of men.
Speaker 2 (01:58:45):
Because every single year in the NFL is the same thing.
You are going to get four or five teams that
go way above expectations in terms of wins and way underperformed,
Like how many wins did you have the Commanders this year?
Speaker 1 (01:58:59):
So we everyone thought, well, they'll be a little bit less.
Speaker 3 (01:59:01):
I got him maybe ten or eleven, but anybody have
them with five addiction sheet out there, I counted, it's
like forty seven people that have put their prediction on Protectionship,
and twenty three of us had the Saints being the
worst team.
Speaker 1 (01:59:14):
Yes, I was one of one.
Speaker 3 (01:59:16):
Not one person here at Fox Sports Radio had it
being the rain. No one had the Saints winning more
than two games. Chris and I had him, oh to seventeen, right,
so we did, we both Chris and I had him seven.
Speaker 1 (01:59:27):
Out of fives out of fives. So I mean it's
it's tough to predict every single year.
Speaker 2 (01:59:31):
But uh, you know I when we talk about the Patriots,
I think all of us were in accord that the
Patriots are going to be better because you looked at them,
because you knew I was not.
Speaker 1 (01:59:42):
I was not not fourteen wins. No, no, not fourteen wins.
How do you think you hit? I don't think I hit.
I was. I'd bean like yet one. I think you
got the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (01:59:52):
I don't think I had thirteen wins. I had him
winning the division that I did have the Broncos winning,
and you had him in the AFC Championship games. I
actually had them play Buffalo in the AFC Championship game.
My super Bowl winner's gone again. Buffalo was the winner
I had. I had the Bills Eagles in the Super Bowl.
So my super bowls all But I mean, are the
(02:00:16):
Patriots a one year wonder? They had the easiest schedule
of any team. And by the way, here's something to
think about. The last time a team had a schedule
easier based on that season's strength of schedule was the
nineteen ninety nine Rams who won the Super Bowl. That's
the last time the team had that easy of a schedule.
(02:00:37):
So is New England a one year wonder?
Speaker 1 (02:00:39):
Or will they be back strong next year?
Speaker 2 (02:00:42):
All right, we'll get more to this battle to get
into the AFC Championship game. This is end Zone Radio.
Snow is falling right now on this matchup between the
Patriots and the Texans. It is coming down pretty good
right now. We got eleven minutes to go in the
first half and the Texans lead this game by his
score of ten to seven.
Speaker 1 (02:01:02):
Patriots do have the ball right now.
Speaker 2 (02:01:04):
They did get a first down, so they are now
facing a third and nine and Drake May has struggled
a little bit to throw the ball and that needs
to be caught.
Speaker 1 (02:01:15):
That wasn't a bad pass.
Speaker 3 (02:01:16):
It wasn't a bad pass, but it's leading the receiver
out of bounds like it is is leading the receiver
out of bounds. This defense, I told you last segment,
this defense is going to defense is settle in on
the road and they do and you see they.
Speaker 1 (02:01:28):
Can't move them. The Patriots can't move the ball and
this is not going to just go away. This defense is.
Speaker 2 (02:01:33):
Well, they didn't move the ball against the Chargers last
week either. That was a struggle for Drake May in
that game. And so we talked about turnovers and the
difference in this game right now was his fumble that
resulted in the Texans eventually getting into the end zone.
Speaker 1 (02:01:50):
So this game will determine who will face Denver tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (02:01:54):
By the way, so next week, next week, so Stidham
is going to be starting a quarterback for the Bronco
after the injury to bow Knicks today Sean Payton, they
declare Stidham is ready to go. Yeah, he's ready to go. Okay,
So I'm thinking about Jared Stidham. He went to Northwestern, right,
and that the guy was Stidham. Yeah let me let me,
(02:02:17):
let me throw it past his twenty twenty three guys. Yeah,
so stop telling me that someone is going to come off.
Speaker 1 (02:02:23):
He's ready.
Speaker 5 (02:02:24):
Yeah, Okay, Stoodam played at Auburn, So he played at Auburn. Baylor.
Speaker 2 (02:02:29):
Oh, I was thinking of the I know who I
was thinking of anyway, So Stidham was at Baylor, he
was at Auburn.
Speaker 1 (02:02:35):
I remember him obviously from his New England days.
Speaker 4 (02:02:38):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (02:02:38):
He was projected by some to maybe be the heir
apparent at Tom Brady. You remember that. Uh spent time
with the Raiders in twenty twenty two. So he had
two starts, both losses, and as you mentioned the last
time that we see him. Wow, and look at that
big play for New England. Touchdown, hit the pylon, touchdown.
(02:02:59):
What is just stupid on CJ. Stroud? Just take the sack,
Just take the sack. This is dumb.
Speaker 3 (02:03:07):
This is dumb, and this is what you're talking about
when it comes in is guy, this is stupid. Once again, though,
why are you right?
Speaker 1 (02:03:13):
Why are you throwing the ball. Okay, so CJ.
Speaker 2 (02:03:16):
Stroud just threw a pick six that is given New
England to lead this Houston defense.
Speaker 1 (02:03:21):
I would be livid, right, I'd be so outset.
Speaker 2 (02:03:24):
They are absolutely shutting down New Eleans offense, which really
is no question.
Speaker 1 (02:03:29):
But we we set it and it's played out in
front of our eyes. CJ.
Speaker 2 (02:03:34):
Stroud is the X factor. Is he going to be
able to hold it together and not blow this game?
Because you know, the Texas defense is going to make
it almost impossible for New England to score in this game.
Speaker 1 (02:03:47):
It's not just on him. Noo, Steve, this is a
stupid play call. This is a stupid play call.
Speaker 3 (02:03:52):
You get the ball back right, you hold them on defense,
defense holds them, You get the ball back first down
ten plus left in the second quarter. All the play
action that we've seen has has somebody coming free for
New England. Every time they run play action they try
to boot, someone comes free. So on about the fourth
or fifth time, I might want to say it's the
offensive corner of that. Hey, scrap that play. Because every
(02:04:14):
time we run this play, we're running anything on the perimeter,
someone's coming free. This time, two guys come free and
instead of him just eating the ball, he just tries
to get rid of it.
Speaker 1 (02:04:26):
Look at this play action and he's rolling in his
face and he's going down. He literally just just throw
just clifts it up in the air. And that is
just amateurville. What is going on with CJ.
Speaker 5 (02:04:39):
Stroud? Every time I see this, I remember tried to
last year. It just makes me laugh.
Speaker 1 (02:04:46):
Well, let's go back, guys to this guy's rookie season play.
We didn't see any of this. We didn't see this, right.
Speaker 2 (02:04:53):
Nobody had tape on him, so he okay, but I
mean again tape like like like this play where you're
getting hit and as you're getting hit, you just flipping
off into the middle middle of the field.
Speaker 3 (02:05:06):
An inclement weather and a cold game in a divisional
game to go play for the conference championship is just
a game crazy. If I'm the offensive coordinator, I've run
bootleg play action five or six times, and every time
someone's come in free. So either you have not coached
this correctly, someone's missing an assignment, and it's gonna cost
(02:05:28):
you eventually.
Speaker 1 (02:05:30):
Eventually it's gonna cost you stop calling that play.
Speaker 2 (02:05:34):
Okay, So right now, the Patriots only have three first
downs and seventy four total yards, but they have fourteen points.
Speaker 1 (02:05:42):
There you go turnovers. Like I said, maybe maybe.
Speaker 2 (02:05:47):
New Leyland is the team of destiny. I don't know,
because I I going into this game. I picked Houston.
Speaker 1 (02:05:53):
I'm on record, I think.
Speaker 2 (02:05:55):
I made all my by though by the way, I've
been wrong on every one of my picks. I picked
buff and I still feel like the Bills got robbed.
But I did pick Buffalo. I took the forty nine
ers and the points, Yeah I did. I didn't think
they'd win, but I thought they'll find a way to
keep the game within eight points. I think was the
(02:06:17):
line seven or eight points for Seattle, and that was
an absolute blowout.
Speaker 1 (02:06:21):
So I'm owing two on those games.
Speaker 5 (02:06:23):
I parlayed all my picks for the weekend single parlor
to know what they are here. It was here to
pick the Bills, still Bills, all l straight outright winners,
Bills to win, robbed, forty nine Ers to win, forty
nine Ers to win, come on, Texans to win, and Bears.
Speaker 1 (02:06:41):
So what kind of odds did you get on that one?
Speaker 5 (02:06:43):
I think I bet fifty cents to win sixteen bucks
or something like that yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:06:48):
Wow, So basically, I guess he didn't really think I
did think the forty Niners.
Speaker 3 (02:06:54):
I was about to say, I'm not mad at any
of your picks, but the Niners I took.
Speaker 1 (02:06:58):
I took the Seahawks straight.
Speaker 5 (02:06:59):
Up, like yeah, Well listen, look that game yesterday was
not enjoyable for anybody.
Speaker 4 (02:07:04):
No, no.
Speaker 1 (02:07:05):
From the opening kickoff, man, you could just feel the
vibe they're showing to replay again at this play by Stratt,
I I just cannot Well, first of all, it's not
a touchdown, that's number one. Well, first of all, it's
a face mask. Is a face mask, it's fine, but
it's not a touchdown because it was the defender that
hit the pilon. That's not a touchdown. That's number one.
Speaker 2 (02:07:24):
Well how does that work? So basically what happened was
he's I mean, it's a full on face mask. Ball
would have been placed at the half yard line. But
if the defender has a hold of the player and
literally drags them over his body and the defender's body
hits the pylon, I guess there was a touchdown. They
(02:07:44):
reviewed that play. Every every scoring play is reviewed in
the NFL.
Speaker 1 (02:07:49):
All right, let's see at least that's what they tell us,
don't I mean, no, I don't stee listen, I am
I I think I put enough years in this business.
Speaker 3 (02:07:59):
I don't like conspiracy, okay, but I think I've done
my job damn well enough and put enough years in
this business to really just look and say I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (02:08:07):
I just can't believe everything I'm told. No more.
Speaker 3 (02:08:10):
I'm just not gonna do it. That would be foolish
to sit here just believe. Oh yeah, we we we
review everything in New York. I don't know that, just
like just like they had an NBA draft right gets
in the back room.
Speaker 1 (02:08:23):
I don't know. I don't you you're telling me that now.
Speaker 2 (02:08:26):
Now, now you're buying into the fix was in for
some reason for never to win that game against Buffalo.
Speaker 5 (02:08:31):
I don't want to say it was fixed, but I
am very surprised that on that no catch interception or whatever, they.
Speaker 3 (02:08:38):
Just at it.
Speaker 1 (02:08:40):
And by the way, you remember McDermott called the time out. Yes,
like that, dude, what is going on here? Because it's
an OT I can't challenge it.
Speaker 3 (02:08:48):
But I got I'm sitting on the countch like no talk,
call the time and let.
Speaker 1 (02:08:52):
Them give them some time to look at it.
Speaker 5 (02:08:53):
Just thinking to myself, like it took them fifteen minutes
to look at that play in Seattle where Darnold threw
the ball back ricocheted off of somebody's helmet. But we
couldn't spend one moment looking at well.
Speaker 2 (02:09:03):
And I was actually I was actually listening to the
game on the radio. Okay, so I know the TV
announcers are saying, whoa, wha, whoa, whoah, who what's going
on here? They were doing the same thing on the radio.
They're like, wait a second, look at this play. He
has the ball possession, he's on the ground, and he
(02:09:24):
has he's been touched.
Speaker 1 (02:09:25):
And with the.
Speaker 3 (02:09:26):
Commentation on TV is they go so quickly to what
is it Salvatore or Secator or whoever they got, they
go quickly to him. Okay, let's let's bring Jim Nansen
in Romo. Okay, let's bring it. No, you both are
looking at the same play. We are we I don't
need to listen to the replay, guy that's sitting next
to you in the booth. I've always learned and thought
that if two guys come down with the ball, ty
(02:09:48):
goes to the receiver printed away after they hit the
ground and the ball has been given to because you
notice when he gets over the ball, everybody's kind of
looking around like, uh, the refs didn't know. The rest
didn't minutely single a signal. Oh yep, it's their balls.
(02:10:08):
Another interception fault, da, that's not his faults, not his fault.
Speaker 2 (02:10:12):
So he has a pass over the ball right through
the receiver's hands and it's intercepted by New England. We
got eight and a half minutes ago. Uh and uh wow,
that is the third interception now of the first half
for CJ.
Speaker 1 (02:10:26):
Doesn't happen.
Speaker 3 (02:10:27):
Guess what, guys, Hey, someone in the studio, take a
guess how this play doesn't happen?
Speaker 1 (02:10:32):
About another slowing the ball on first down?
Speaker 6 (02:10:34):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (02:10:35):
How about not throwing the football in inclement weather? Well
they did.
Speaker 5 (02:10:40):
They did try to run it and they got stuck.
Speaker 3 (02:10:41):
Run again, Run again, Run again. It's fourteen to ten,
eight minutes in the second quarter. I'm not hearing that.
Speaker 1 (02:10:47):
Run again, c J. Stroud with three interceptions here.
Speaker 5 (02:10:51):
But the process just put just put Davis Mills in
the game.
Speaker 1 (02:10:54):
Oh you can't do that at this point, Are you
kidding me? Horrible run the ball.
Speaker 5 (02:10:58):
Yeah, David, put Davids in and run the ball. But
I get CJ. Stroud off my TV.
Speaker 1 (02:11:05):
So what Mark David Milchers? All right, so let me
let me give you the rushing numbers.
Speaker 2 (02:11:10):
Okay, what he marks eight carries seven yards, but you
have to run, Nick shove one carry two yard.
Speaker 1 (02:11:16):
You have to run it.
Speaker 3 (02:11:17):
It's like the jab, like the example of ball. I said,
doing commercial. We were sitting here talking and you watch boxing.
It's like boxing. Man, throw the jab. I don't care
if it's not doing damn it.
Speaker 1 (02:11:27):
Throw the jab. You don't stop throwing the jab. You
have to. You have to throw the jab so it
sets up. I don't care if it's not connecting.
Speaker 3 (02:11:35):
You have to run the football in the game of
football in order to open things up.
Speaker 2 (02:11:40):
Okay, so right now the Patriots take over. They're at
the forty eight yard line of the Texans. Another golden opportunity.
Eight and a half minutes to go. This is where
you have to, you know, figure out a way to
use some clock up and get the ball in the
end zone. If you're New England. Patriots leave this game
by a score of fourteen to ten, and they are
running the ball and they getting some yards. All right,
(02:12:01):
We'll continue to cover and jump this AFC Division a
while matchup between the Texans and the Pageots. Also, we
got all the latest on tonight's matchup between the Bears
and the Rams.
Speaker 1 (02:12:12):
This is en Zone Radio. The first and ten for
the Texans, working white coll up for the far hashbar
C J.
Speaker 6 (02:12:17):
Stroud in a tech formation two by two say go
back to chuff playfake good.
Speaker 1 (02:12:21):
Blaze is an nearside receiver found out its trout throws
it up in the air. Fit us second.
Speaker 9 (02:12:25):
Marcus Jones Bright twenty fifteen to ten. Jones is tackled
by Hunchinson takes him to the pipeline. Tuckshot takes it Atreans,
look at it. It's nuts again. Look Ohen DUTs, you
love it.
Speaker 2 (02:12:38):
That's ninety eight five the sports hob in the Patriots
radio network that pick six is the reason the Patriots
currently lead the Texans by a score of fourteen to ten.
Speaker 1 (02:12:48):
We got six minutes to go here in the first half.
Speaker 2 (02:12:54):
This game has been almost inexplicable, and what has been
playing out here. C. J. Stroud is thrown three interceptions
in the first half. But forget that's that he's thrown
twenty one passes. So it's been pouring rain, a little
bit of snow, so that the temperature is fluctuating back
between freezing and not freezing. So the conditions are not
(02:13:17):
great to throw the football to begin with right now.
But the Texans have only won the ball ten times
and they have twenty one.
Speaker 1 (02:13:24):
Passes, and c J.
Speaker 2 (02:13:26):
Stroud on this last series was struggling just to grip
the ball. His last interception really was a ball that
just slipped out of his hand.
Speaker 5 (02:13:35):
What Mark say's questionable to return?
Speaker 1 (02:13:37):
So how about Nick schubbs he still got any gasoline?
Speaker 6 (02:13:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:13:41):
I mean, Nick Schubb, you can probably run three times before.
Speaker 1 (02:13:44):
By the way, Dalton Schultz is also out. He had
the forty two yards.
Speaker 2 (02:13:47):
The only big play the Texans have had was that
forty two yard plays.
Speaker 5 (02:13:51):
Also lost their best offensive lineman for a little bit.
Speaker 1 (02:13:53):
So I don't know, twenty one passes, ten runs, I
mean yeah, wow.
Speaker 2 (02:13:57):
And New England is just realizing if you're gonna throw
the ball on every play, we're gonna put immense pressure
on CJ.
Speaker 1 (02:14:04):
Stroud, And that's what they did on this last series.
Speaker 6 (02:14:06):
Bo.
Speaker 3 (02:14:07):
Nothing you said just now is wrong but let me
let me sprinkle a little VJ season and on it
all right.
Speaker 2 (02:14:13):
By the way, Patricks with a big play. Right now,
they are inside the thirty yard line of the Texans.
Speaker 1 (02:14:18):
If you start the game off.
Speaker 3 (02:14:22):
Establishing the line of scrimmage of running the ball, five
of their first six pays we're passing plays.
Speaker 1 (02:14:29):
What a lineman doing?
Speaker 3 (02:14:30):
Pass plays? Bow They stand up and they have to
kind of retract. You're not moving forward in an aggressive manner.
This starts to be the energy of your offense that
you're going to play with today. And then you continue
on drive two, drive three. Now when you get inside
the red zone, oh now let's bow up and run. No,
(02:14:51):
we notice what you're gonna do now, so it's not
gonna work. So now you get scared and.
Speaker 6 (02:14:55):
You go back.
Speaker 3 (02:14:56):
It's it's how you start. It's how you start the
energy of the game.
Speaker 2 (02:15:03):
They started bad and you start to see the pagers
now us okay, by the way you want to hear,
it's run the football a little more. How about this
contrast here we talked about, you know, twenty one pass
attempts to ten rushing intents for Houston. Right now, New
England twelve passes, twelve rushing attempts.
Speaker 1 (02:15:17):
There we go balance. So they are running the ball,
and they're running the.
Speaker 2 (02:15:20):
Ball effectively right now, averaging better than four yards of pops.
Speaker 1 (02:15:24):
So New England is running the ball effectively right now.
They have a second and seven and they are.
Speaker 2 (02:15:29):
Driving try to extend their lead right now over the Texans,
and with the Texans with injuries and another big pass play,
so all of a sudden, Drake made feeling a little
more comfortable.
Speaker 1 (02:15:39):
And by the way, we've seen this from Remembery against
the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (02:15:42):
First half was a nightmare to the kid, but the
second half he started getting comfortable, and suddenly he started
moving the ball for the base because the defense gets
worn down when they're trying to do everything to keep
you in the game and the offense doesn't moving the ball.
Speaker 5 (02:15:55):
I watched this for eighteen weeks this year with the Eagles.
That's exactly what they did on right.
Speaker 1 (02:16:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:16:01):
But here's the one thing I have to say about
Drake May I've seen this all season long. This guy,
like any other young quarterback, is going to have moments, right,
but they don't seem to stay with him. Yeah yeah, yeah,
like he is. He is capable of you know, rebounding
from a bad throw or whatever, and he's going into
the end zone and that is a touchdown for New England.
(02:16:23):
Digs on stuff on Diggs right there with the catch
in the end zone. By the way, that was a
dart of a pass to get that one in. So
three really good passes.
Speaker 1 (02:16:31):
Is the same freak.
Speaker 3 (02:16:32):
May you guys notice it was the same route all
three plays. Just throw throw a slant touchdown.
Speaker 1 (02:16:37):
Yeah, and that and so you know, you look at
the Texans defense. Their front seven is dominant.
Speaker 2 (02:16:42):
Secondary at times can be had if you give your
quarterbacks sometime.
Speaker 1 (02:16:47):
That is a perfect pass. And that's it's not only that,
it's just a great catch. Hands, that's all hands and traffic.
Speaker 3 (02:16:54):
You notice safeties coming, you know, to the other you know,
here's the here's the safety coming over coming and lower
that shoulder and you takes a lot of guts that
want to make that playoffs.
Speaker 2 (02:17:02):
So we're waiting on the extra point right now. But
what do you think, guys? The extra point is good.
I can tell you in advance, I make prediction seven
by twenty one to ten. Guys, three minutes to go
in the first half, is this game over.
Speaker 1 (02:17:14):
DC's notable.
Speaker 2 (02:17:16):
No, is this game over because their defense? You think
that Detections right now can come back and win this game.
Speaker 3 (02:17:22):
No, I didn't you know us it was the game over.
I'm saying, is the game over? No, the game's not
over because this defense is gonna hold him. The defense
is gonna score. I think this defense is gonna score.
They're gonna get a scoop and score. They're gonna get
a pick six, They're gonna score. But this offense, I
can't put this all on Stroud because you put them
in a bad position as a coach. One thing about
coaching in football, we blame players a lot.
Speaker 1 (02:17:43):
Like last night.
Speaker 3 (02:17:43):
Let's go to last night. You know why Sam Darnold
only needed to be twelve to seventeen and one twenty four.
His coaching staff put him in position to be successful
by saying, look, we're gonna pound, we're gonna lean on
our defensive special teams, and we're gonna pound. We're gonna
hand the ball to Walker twenty times. Zach Scharberne would
have fifteen sixteen if he didn't get hurt. But go
look at their rushers last night. They handed the ball
off to like four or five different running backs. Let's
(02:18:05):
protect our guy. Nope, we're gonna go in New England
in the cold, in the snow, in the sleep, in
the rate, and we're gonna ask c. J. Stroud, who
hasn't had the year that we wanted him to have
to throw twenty one pass attempts in the first half. Oh,
by the way, with no w R one because Nico
Collins has been ruled out with a concussion. Guys, you're
setting your team and you're setting your guy up to fly.
Speaker 2 (02:18:28):
I don't know where they're gonna go for here. If
Marx isn't playing Nick Schubb. I mean, did anyone know
that Nick Schubb was still.
Speaker 3 (02:18:35):
In the Marx has got to suck it up if
he's questionable, whatever he's got going on. Look, it's either
we play, we win, or you're playing Cobo tomorrow morning.
Which one you want? You want to plan Cobo tomorrow
morning or do you want to fight? Listen, this is
eleven point game with three to go on.
Speaker 2 (02:18:47):
Okay, but we talked all about that Houston defense. They
didn't do anything to stop New England on that drive.
They going right down the field.
Speaker 3 (02:18:53):
Well, just three three three three slams three and hit
willseion all of the lamdback, They'll settle back in this defense,
will say they're not gonna quit and give up.
Speaker 2 (02:19:02):
All right, So three minutes to go in the first half,
and we'll see if Houston you get something going. All right, guys,
let's start focusing on the game later tonight in fridge
in Chicago and again whether weather it's not going to
be a factor.
Speaker 1 (02:19:13):
In this game. It's just not both so conflicted.
Speaker 2 (02:19:16):
You know, the question is, well, I don't know. He's
a capaboy inside conflicted, but he's also rare.
Speaker 3 (02:19:22):
You got to pick a sad though, Bo, You don't
get to come in here next week. Are you brag
about either You got to pick a sod day?
Speaker 5 (02:19:27):
Well, no, I I think I want the Bears to
because I think what Sean McVay has done this week
whining about Johnson. He treated Lafleur as just bush league.
It's brilliannoying.
Speaker 1 (02:19:37):
You don't think it's a boy, Well, I don't care
if he's seeing it's just it's just I think if
you're an NFL head coach, no, is that another interception? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:19:46):
I just think it's I think you just ignore that
and it's none of your business, like I get to
do your guy, but just if you want if you
want to do that, then go score forty four points, start,
go to the press and talk about it.
Speaker 1 (02:19:58):
I'm sorry that Lafleur is a grown up as man,
like he doesn't need the defensive, he doesn't need another
like the there's too many jobs at sake for the
Rams to go out there and defend the honor of
Sean bleeping McVeigh. Yeah, well, I agree, sorry, Matt.
Speaker 5 (02:20:16):
The weird thing to me was the way it was
reported is like McVeigh and his coaching tree are upset.
Speaker 1 (02:20:21):
At okay, okay, guys, boys.
Speaker 2 (02:20:26):
You know you know what's interesting guys about that is
what is the interaction going to be between Ben Johnson
and Sean McVay today?
Speaker 6 (02:20:34):
None?
Speaker 1 (02:20:34):
I do think, none, I do think. I mean, Ben
Johnson has already proven that he doesn't give a rats at.
Speaker 5 (02:20:41):
I don't think there's any bad there's no bad bud
between them, but like there is now. It's so funny
that NFL fans talk about how they want rivalries and
they want X and Y, and then they get it
and they're like, well, no, I don't want it like that,
Like I'm sorry, but like, yeah, what Ben Johnson is
doing with Chicago and towards Green Bay is how everybody
in the NFC worts should feel about every other.
Speaker 8 (02:21:00):
Team, like every divisions. That's also a personal rivalry that's
gone back to when he was in Detroit too. This
isn't just out of nowhere this year.
Speaker 1 (02:21:10):
We had Matt Lafleur on TV mouthing fu to to
Ben Johnson and the Lions sideline when the Lions went
for it on a fourth down last season, Like, this
is something that's been brewing for a while with these two.
All right, Wow did they call a defensive hold? It was?
That's why he took a shot. Wow, Okay, that's why.
Speaker 2 (02:21:32):
A big break for Houston right now, because again that
was just thrown up for grabs.
Speaker 3 (02:21:37):
Well he had him be. This isn't thrown for grabs.
I see there, yeah concept, but no, he's got him be.
That's why he grabbed him because he knew it was
b and his coach and his quarterback just like he
didn't even hold them and he just put his arm out.
Speaker 1 (02:21:53):
I like bad blo.
Speaker 3 (02:21:54):
I'm with you, bo, I like bad live and towards period.
I just think it's and it started honestly in the NBA.
Everyverybody's shaking hands. Everybody want to be friends. Guy's going
on vacation together, the banana boat crap. I hated all
of it, and I talked in I made it known
I hated all of it. It's okay for you not
to like your opponent, like I think, especially in football,
and you have to not like you should hate your.
Speaker 1 (02:22:16):
Opponent so you can go on and hit him hard
in his mouth.
Speaker 2 (02:22:18):
Over and over night they put what he marks back
in the game. So Mark just carried the ball for
a four yard loss. Yeah, but you've been he now
has nine carries.
Speaker 1 (02:22:27):
For three yards. Your lineman, ARNI, look look at a push,
all right. So here it is, and it's a four
yard loss. You know what, And you know why that is.
Speaker 6 (02:22:34):
You know what?
Speaker 3 (02:22:34):
See because you've been standing up and going in pass
pro most of the game. Has eleven carries for seven yards,
and now you're asking me to fire off the ball
and go. That's not how it works, all right.
Speaker 2 (02:22:46):
So Cjy Stroud throws a perfect pass to get the
first down. So they're now past midfield, all right, let's
find out what it's trending right now. Unbelievable. I mean
this is hot and heavy.
Speaker 1 (02:22:57):
Today, Monty, you feel me, right, Mama?
Speaker 3 (02:23:00):
Like, really, these like twenty five pass sense in this.
Speaker 1 (02:23:03):
Weather fit this kid. It doesn't make sense. It makes zero.
It doesn't make sense.
Speaker 7 (02:23:07):
And you know this is going to be a close
game because it's like, it's not like they can throw
and we can't. It's just a tough environment to throw
right now. So why why are you putting your quarterback
who is give me a game?
Speaker 2 (02:23:20):
Has eleven carries for seven yards marks nine carries three yards.
Speaker 7 (02:23:25):
But it's where i'd be like, it's the third quarter,
late in the third quarter and they're down two three scores.
Speaker 1 (02:23:29):
It's doing the map right now.
Speaker 2 (02:23:31):
If you're if you're averaging point three yards of carry,
would take thirty carries, you.
Speaker 1 (02:23:34):
Get ten yards. Don't do that, Sting, don't do that.
I'm already already carries that can't change out any moment.
You can have one explosive play that can change momentum.
But even more than that, minds, I've alreadys played it.
They started the game wrong. And now you're here, like
you said, now you're here and now you want to run.
Speaker 3 (02:23:51):
No, right, your linemen have been standing up to pass
pro guys, is different than firing off the ball, and
they haven't been doing. Now you're asking me to. But
I've been passed port for the last quarter and a
half and cold.
Speaker 1 (02:24:04):
Get the job done. Yeah, now it's a job.
Speaker 7 (02:24:06):
C J. Stratt is definitely struggling, whether it's the weather,
whether it's New England's defense. But the Patriots are up
with the pick six twenty one to ten with two
minutes to go in the first half.
Speaker 1 (02:24:16):
Houston does have the ball. They just got a first down.
Speaker 7 (02:24:19):
They're around midfield, so we'll see if they get some
points on the board before halftime. For Houston, tight end
Dalton Schultz, which you guys mentioned, ruled out with a
calf injury. Running back Woody Marx is questionable to return
with a shoulder injury.
Speaker 1 (02:24:31):
C J. Stradd not only has three.
Speaker 7 (02:24:33):
Interceptions, he has thrown for one hundred and twenty four
yards and a touchdown. Drake May has thrown for one
hundred and nine yards and two touchdowns. Still to come
the Bears in the Rams, but that's gonna kick off
in about two.
Speaker 1 (02:24:42):
Hours at six thirty Eastern time.
Speaker 7 (02:24:44):
When it comes to other NFL news, well, Titans have
now had now have second interview, have a second head
coaching interview scheduled with Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Naggie and
Packer's defensive coordinator Jeff Halflee. Now that some teams have
lost their are other individuals who can have virtual interviews.
Not in person yet, but forty nine Ers defensive coordinator
(02:25:05):
Robert sala is interviewing virtually today with the Ravens and
the Titans. Bill's offensive coordinator Joe Brady interviewing virtually today
with the Ravens.
Speaker 1 (02:25:13):
In fact, they just.
Speaker 7 (02:25:13):
Announced that they completed that interview, and also with the Dolphins.
In college football, former Florida quarterback DJ Lagway is signing
with Baylor. When it comes to the NBA, Grizzlies defeated
the Magic in London one twenty six to oneh nine.
In the NHL, the Lightning are currently up on the
Stars four to one with less than two minutes to
go in the third period. Back to you guys, all right,
(02:25:34):
mun See, thank you very much, great job.
Speaker 2 (02:25:37):
As always, once again we're in the Fox Sports Radio studios.

the fourth interception thrown by J Strout. So coming out
of the two minute warnings, c J. Stroud just threw
(02:26:04):
another interception. His another one interception of the first half, another.
Speaker 3 (02:26:10):
One, six to six reception, six turnovers in the last
two weeks.
Speaker 1 (02:26:15):
I mean, this is unbelievable. So CD throws those this
It's terrible, it's a terrible pass. It's behind the receiver.
It's terrible, and he looking right at the receiver, right
at the two feet down that it's an interception.
Speaker 2 (02:26:29):
He's good, four interceptions, ten of twenty four, one hundred
and twenty four yards. When's the last time he literally
saw a quarterback through four interceptions in one half.
Speaker 1 (02:26:37):
Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 2 (02:26:39):
He did it against and they came back to win
that game. Back to when that game that's right against
the Chargers, that is correct. He looks shell shocked at
this point he just looks. You know, it's like, what
look at that throw? He only threw eight in the
regular season. Mm hmmm, and it's thrown four today.
Speaker 5 (02:26:56):
Yeah, it's like Herbert last year.
Speaker 1 (02:26:58):
Yeah, it had more than one then the entire season alone. Well,
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:27:03):
He's got a shot to throw four more that gets
to his eight. All right, So New England takes sober.
They got a couple of minutes to go. If I'm
New England right now, I'm not taking any unnecessary chances.
Speaker 1 (02:27:14):
Man. This is run left, run right, run left, run right,
get to the locker room and you're up twenty one
to ten at this point, maybe if you can get
a field goal out of this, because the Texas get
the ball. Let me ask you again, is this game over? No?
Speaker 2 (02:27:26):
Okay, all right, New England's defense I really do well. Again,
it's do you trust CJ. Stroud's going to lead a comeback?
Speaker 1 (02:27:34):
I need a defense to score. No, I see there's
a drop fall.
Speaker 5 (02:27:37):
If it's twenty eight to ten, then I think it's
twenty eight.
Speaker 3 (02:27:40):
Ten game over. But now look think about it. Third
and seven clock stop, min and fourteen they hold again. Here,
Texas gonna get the ball before the half.
Speaker 5 (02:27:48):
Again, if I'm if I'm Will Anderson or other guys
on the Texas defense at halftime, i am putting the
offensive three.
Speaker 1 (02:27:56):
Table right, and I'm getting a CJ's face.
Speaker 3 (02:28:00):
Seriously, I'm getting DJ's And this is man and man
teammate bro this say, get out your feelings.
Speaker 1 (02:28:05):
Wake the bleep up, wake the bleep up. You've turned the.
Speaker 3 (02:28:08):
Ball over four times and and one of Remember this
could be this could easily be ten to fourteen. This
last touchdown was a pick six both and there's a
nickelpleet pass.
Speaker 1 (02:28:19):
Yeah, stop by the way.
Speaker 2 (02:28:20):
On the previous play, Bramble was upset of the officials
because Lass's hands were all over the receiver, all over
the receiver. He's like, what can somebody please to find
what holding or pass interference is.
Speaker 1 (02:28:33):
Or catch or a catch.
Speaker 3 (02:28:36):
We don't even know what a catches. I mean around
sports period, we don't know what a double dribble is.
Speaker 1 (02:28:40):
We don't know what a travel is. We don't know
what to carry it.
Speaker 2 (02:28:42):
First of all, everything is a carry by the old
You know what people always always gets.
Speaker 1 (02:28:46):
To me when people say, you know, I've watched old NBA. Boy,
it was a slow game.
Speaker 2 (02:28:50):
I go, do you ever watch them dribble? Because I
was a kid, and that's a long time ago. You
had to keep your hand on top of that. We
would literally have dribbling built. It was like this, like
like this, if you put your hand on the side
of the ball, it was automatically palming the ball.
Speaker 1 (02:29:06):
Only if you put your hand under the ball right.
Speaker 2 (02:29:09):
And now they just do this, they could turn the
ball over them may to have crossovers when you can
do that the entire game, the whole game.
Speaker 1 (02:29:17):
So that, Yeah, if you're wondering why.
Speaker 2 (02:29:18):
It looks so slow in the old days in the NBA,
look where their hand is as they're dribbling the ball.
Speaker 1 (02:29:24):
And it wasn't that slow. Put on tap of tiny
name Nate Archiball. Well you had to pass the ball.
That was a pass past pass.
Speaker 3 (02:29:30):
Put on tape of Jerry West. These guys don't watch.
People don't watch. Yeah, they listened. They listen to the
bait and talk shows. Nobody really goes and does research anymore.
Speaker 1 (02:29:39):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (02:29:39):
Guys, guys, he does this, I mean he can he
cannot throw the ball that he's so freaked out.
Speaker 1 (02:29:44):
So they get the ball back after the three and out.
There's still a minute to go in the half.
Speaker 6 (02:29:48):
C J.
Speaker 1 (02:29:49):
Strouds first pass was in the dirt? Why are you throwing?
I mean, I'm just serious?
Speaker 2 (02:29:52):
Why Han of twenty five? Remember I was kidding early
in that fifty pass. I said this, like the minute
in the game with it's gonna be throwing fifty.
Speaker 3 (02:30:02):
I would I would probably come out. I'd probably bench him.
I'd probably bench him. There's no But you know what,
though people had questions about him this year, let's get real.
This eight to nine game run to day went on
this year had a lot to do with their defense,
but there's also no Nico out there. Guys, maybe we
need to start looking at Nico, who is now a
(02:30:22):
Tuton pro bawler. You gotta he gotta got you got
elected again this year. We might need to start to
look at him and go, hey, he is the legitimate
WR one because without him, there's no one else out
here who can get off coverage. Christian Kirk can't move,
he can't do nothing. Here we are with third and ten,
they're gonna get the Patriots the ball back.
Speaker 2 (02:30:40):
Well, let's see what happens here. They're at their own
ten yard line. I mean, this is risky business. I mean,
if okay, there's a flag right at the snap of
the balls.
Speaker 3 (02:30:50):
Goes down, and that's gonna be another one of those
illegal procedures because it looks like that the receiver was
not set long enough after motion or started leaning.
Speaker 1 (02:30:58):
The little client that then if it's against the Houston.
So right now, CJ.
Speaker 2 (02:31:02):
Strode again, first half stats, illegal procedure, that'll be declined.
The will be Pentny out of their end zone. Ten
of twenty six with ten of twenty six with four picks.
Speaker 1 (02:31:15):
That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:31:16):
So you're saying he's fourteen twenty six exactly a ten
of twenty six with four picks.
Speaker 1 (02:31:23):
I have to think about that for a second. It's
just like meanwill Houston has Actually that was a good
run for them. That was a one yard run. That
was not a sack. So they now have twelve carries
for eight yards. And let's not act like that. Drake
May is lighting it up. Guys.
Speaker 2 (02:31:37):
Let's okay, let's not so if you're if you're Will
Anderson in company, man, you gotta be screwed.
Speaker 3 (02:31:43):
I'm jacking my coaching staff up, I'm throwing helmets, I'm
kicking lockers. I'm because we are the reason why we're here.
And then this is what you, guys, and this is
what and this is the game plan that y'all put
out knowing that he was shaky last week. We scored
twice last week. Rink is the don't picked that ball
up like you said, it's seven to six in that game, it.
Speaker 2 (02:32:02):
Was seven to six one in the fourth core it
was ten to six until the the fumble and fumble
return and the pick six as you said, to finish
that thing off.
Speaker 1 (02:32:12):
All right, he's not lighting. He's not lighting the world up, guys.
Speaker 2 (02:32:18):
Okay, So right now, at the very least, New England
trying to get into field goal position, which they are easily.
They're at midfield right now with thirty six seconds to go,
and they have all three of their time out. So
New England can definitely get themselves into fields to make
a play.
Speaker 1 (02:32:33):
Right here, they need to turnover. They cannot even give
up a field goal. And there is it is a
recover by the Houston host it there it is. Oh,
the Patriots got it back. Campbell got it back. Cambell
and by the way, Campbell recovered the other fumble. I'm
telling you. I have one guy. They have an offensive
line for the Patriots. It is recovered too.
Speaker 2 (02:32:54):
Yeah he got that's a fumble for sure, But this
Campbell guy's been tech does need to work on recovering fumbles.
Speaker 3 (02:33:02):
I got a quick Triger question for you, guys. Who
do you think has more total yards in this game? Guys,
I would imagine it is the Well I can tell
you right now it is.
Speaker 5 (02:33:10):
We're going me to Texans because the Patriots a more
plays than they run.
Speaker 2 (02:33:14):
But they've run thirty eight plays to twenty nine, right, yeah, right,
well thirty two thirty thirty eight to thirty two. Yeah,
they've run more plays, they have more.
Speaker 3 (02:33:22):
Yards and this deep look at it and guess who
once again, he's got two forts fumbles today, Will Anderson Jr.
Speaker 2 (02:33:30):
Well, we were saying before the game, Drake May can't
play like he did last week. Drake May pretty much
is playing like last week.
Speaker 1 (02:33:36):
Yeah, we didn't know DJ was gonna throw four picks
in the first half, but well he was the X factor,
all right.
Speaker 2 (02:33:42):
Coming up on the other side, predictions on what's going
to happen in tonight's matchup between the Rams and the Bear.
Speaker 1 (02:33:50):
That's that I didn't know that. This is end Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (02:33:53):
Harman and Husky end Zone Radio on the Fox Sports
Radio studios carry Rhodes on deck getting ready for uh, well,
second half of this game. It is halftime. Patriots lead
the Texans by a score of twenty one to ten C. J.
Stroud ten to twenty six hundred and twenty four yards
(02:34:15):
a touchdown in four picks Drake May ten and nineteen
hundred and seventeen yards two touchdowns and one pick.
Speaker 1 (02:34:24):
Weather is a factor, no question about that.
Speaker 2 (02:34:26):
But play calling is going to be interesting at halftime
because look, I've asked you a couple times is this
game over?
Speaker 1 (02:34:32):
And you said no. I agree with It's not over, obviously,
because the defense looked like going into the half.
Speaker 2 (02:34:39):
This Texans defense is capable of creating turnovers, and the
Patriots avoided a couple of bullets. They had two fumbles
that were recovered by the Patriots.
Speaker 3 (02:34:51):
May's got three. Drake May's fumbled the ball three times himself.
They've just been able to recover.
Speaker 2 (02:34:55):
Them correct and so the uh Patriots are not home free. Bud,
I don't know what do you do with your quarterback
to try to get him settled down.
Speaker 3 (02:35:07):
I don't know if he's at the very least, I
don't know you can in the easy answer is oh yeah,
Benjamin bringing still. I would love to hear a Ryan
Clark and these guys are saying, because I know that's
all they're talking about, is what are you doing? These
guys are being very demasial rights now, which means somebody's
got to be agreeing with me. I wish I could
hear them. I'm sure somebody's like, listen, you gotta start
to run the football. Tell your offensive line get off
(02:35:27):
their asses, blow off the ball, fire off the ball.
Let's get the running game going, and let's get some
easier passes. They were trying to run play action. How
the hell let me ask you this, how the hell
do you run play action if you don't run the ball, Like,
why are you even faking play action? You haven't run
the ball, so I don't think you're gonna run. That's
(02:35:47):
why they got guys coming free whenever they were doing
the bootleg. Notice after that last interception, they have not
run one play action bootleg play but you're four tenths
too late. Now you're just dropping them straight back and
asking them to pick apart defense and now he's shell.
Speaker 1 (02:36:01):
Shocked, man like. All right, well, we'll see how this
plays out.
Speaker 2 (02:36:04):
So New England will actually Houston gets the ball to
start the second half. New England had it first in
the first half, so Houston will get the ball to
open up the second half, and they better look a
lot different to get themselves back into this game. All right,
let's talk about the game coming up later on guys,
Bears hosting the Rams. Let's just start with home field.
(02:36:25):
Forget the weather, just home field. Is that a factor
for anybody in this No?
Speaker 1 (02:36:30):
Anybody? No, there's any advantage to the Bears playing at home? No? No, okay,
I wentnology. I just think the Rams are just too experienced.
Speaker 2 (02:36:37):
Okay, So let's hear my argument about the Rams in
this game is this, The Rams have not played well
for about the last month.
Speaker 1 (02:36:47):
I mean that game against Carolina. What was that about?
Speaker 2 (02:36:50):
Ye had an early fourteen to nothing league looks like
a nice easy win, and you let them right back
in the game, and all of a sudden, the Panthers
got themselves they started with there's got their confidence, Rice
Young got his confidence, got himself back into that game. Uh,
that's Carolina Bears are better than that, So the guy, yeah,
(02:37:10):
because they have a quarterback that believes he can find
a way to win, and that means you have a
team that.
Speaker 1 (02:37:18):
Believes they can come back and win.
Speaker 2 (02:37:20):
You don't win seven games, including a playoff game, in
the last two minutes unless you believe you are like
destined to win these games. That first half against Green
Bay was twenty one to three. That game should have
been over, and all of a sudden the Bears. Everyone
talks about, you know, Caleb Williams leading the comeback. How
about the fact that the Bears defense completely shut down
(02:37:41):
green Bay in that second half? Yeah, three and out,
three and out, three and out. Uh so was a
completely different Bears team, all right? But that being said, Look,
we all agree the Rams are.
Speaker 1 (02:37:50):
The better team, their favorite.
Speaker 2 (02:37:53):
They are favorite three and a half point favorites, and
that that number is held steady. Give me a scenario.
I'll start with you, Bo. If the Bears win this
game tonight, how did they.
Speaker 5 (02:38:06):
Win it the same way they've won every game that
they've won, by pulling a rabbit out of there? Butt lait?
Speaker 1 (02:38:13):
Okay, how about you, Chris? If the Bears win tonight,
it's because the game is close in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 8 (02:38:19):
So that's that's what it is like every every time
you've seen this, Like if if the Rams won win
this game, they've got to bury the Bears deep, not
just at the half, not just the third quarter. When
the fourth quarter starts, it better be like twenty twenty
eight to seven or twenty eight to three or something.
Speaker 1 (02:38:38):
You cannot you cannot give even a cheek that Caleb
Williams can have late game. But this brings up again
the question.
Speaker 2 (02:38:46):
I mean, it would seem to be an obvious answer,
but maybe it's not because of this insane record the
Bears have put up this year with seven wins in
the last two minutes. If the game's on the line,
last two minutes of the game, who are we trusting
Caleb Williams or Matthew Stafford?
Speaker 1 (02:39:08):
They both, But that's an.
Speaker 5 (02:39:09):
Easy at that point, it's just whoever has the ball
right right.
Speaker 3 (02:39:12):
I'm with you on that, because Caleb is showing that
can do it. But I think we all want to
lead on Stafford's experience. Mcveigh's experience also got the better
weapon too. Here's the thing that I want to go
with is what who do I trust more on the
sideline at that point, because that's just as I more.
Speaker 1 (02:39:30):
I would go with McVeigh.
Speaker 8 (02:39:33):
We even saw this year that fourth that what was
that late? Was it overtime against the forty nine ers?
Like his decision making?
Speaker 1 (02:39:40):
Who's the pressure on tonight? Pressure's on someone? Who's the
pressure on the Rams? Absolutely, the Rams are overachievers this year.
Actually they're not. Actually they're not because when john anybody
pick him to win division about what people picked. It's
not about what people picked. But you have the number
(02:40:01):
one overall pick from just two years ago, and you
have who most people think is the new next up
and coming. Yea, but wonder know he was going to
be that. I think the thing is that.
Speaker 3 (02:40:13):
No people I didn't I don't remember like a daily
I know, but I didn't hear nobody thinking Ben Johnson
couldn't get it done.
Speaker 8 (02:40:20):
Here's the thing is, like I think the Bears are
ahead of schedule. I don't know if the Bears are scheduled,
but I think I think they believe they'll have more
bites of the apple. Whereas I don't know how many
more years we're going to see if Matt Stafford playing
especially at this m VP level. You're not going to
have that again. Like this might be a last swing
for this.
Speaker 1 (02:40:36):
They better watch that.
Speaker 3 (02:40:37):
More Bites at the Apple because these NFL players that
tell you don't don't take for granted, get into it
absolutely well.
Speaker 1 (02:40:44):
Get ready for the second half of this game. Rams
bears later on Dan and carry off. Everybody will tell
you that en zon Rado's over right now, Kevin Aaron,
Fox Shorts Radio
