Speaker 4 (01:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Man, huge day. I'm doing great, man feeling.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
I had a long, long, very busy week, man, But
here we are. There's some big trades happening in the
NFL World Baseball Classic. Shorebrod goes deep to put USA
up against Great Britain late last night. My home country,
Dominican Republic up ten to one on the Netherlands, the
good Dutch. Right now, man, And I mean, this isn't

(01:38):
that time of year. It's that time of year. I'm over.
I'm over the hurt.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
There'll be no football. I'm over it now.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
If I've gotten over, there's no football courses football in fact.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
So the official start of the NFL season is Wednesday, right.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Okay, right, it's the new tallendar.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Now here's here's what I love.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
So we've had all these trades and we've already been
talking about for weeks that have already been done, but
they're not officially done until the season starts on Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
But I like this.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Tomorrow they have what they call the the legal tampering period.
So starting tomorrow, you can legally.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
You know, get all somebody business. You can get all
this somebody's business.

Speaker 5 (02:16):
You get it.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
You know, even though none of these deals that we've
been talking about will be official until Wednesday, so that
is always the official start of the NFL season will
be Wednesday, March thirteenth, of eleventh, and you get ready
for that. It's it's been a lot of fun listening
to some of these deals, blockbuster deals. I mean this
Max Crosby deal, and you were technical, we were texting

(02:39):
back and forth. I said to you, I think it's
a good deal for both these teams. It makes sense
for both these teams because for a team like the
Raiders that have so many holes right now, you know,
Max Crosby is like a luxury. And I love Max Crosby.
There's a reason people love Max Crosby because you know,
it's it's sort of easy when you're on a really

(03:00):
good team to get your motor running all the time.
But when you're on a bad team year after year
and your motor still runs one hundred percent on every play,
that's who Max Crosby is. Okay, he had pride being
a Raider. He wanted to be a Raider. He signed
a new deal with the Raiders. He wanted to stay
with the Raiders, and his engine was always running hot,
double digit sacks every single year. But he's a luxury

(03:23):
on a team that just has so many holes to
fill as far as the Ravers are concerned. And by
the way, the word was the Cowboys offered the Raiders
a first and second second right they.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Wouldn't go over.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
They said, no, we got two number ones out of Baltimore,
including the fourteenth overall pick. So that is a really
dynamic pick. But if you are the Ravens, it's worth it.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
Man.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
You're getting a guy that you know will bring as
a game every single game and they desperately need a
pass fresh. There's a reason why the Ravens secondary has
been so exposed over the last couple of years because
they're putting no pressure on quarterbacks. A good deal for
the Ravens giving up two number ones for a can't

(04:03):
miss guy. You know what you're gonna get with Max Crosby.
This is not a guy that's ever gonna mail it in.
He's just not wired that way. But for the Raiders
to get those extra number ones, now they have the
first pick in the draft, you take Mendoza. Now you
have the fourteenth pick in the draft. You know you
can start filling some of those holes. So I like
deals like this where I really can look at and say,
you know what, it makes sense on both sides.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
It makes sense on both sides. But this isn't a
good deal for the Ravens. This is a tremendous move
for the Ravens. Who's the Ravens head coach? Who's their
new head coach? Former defensive coordinator from the Los Angeles Chargers, Monces,
beloved Los Angeles Chargers, mister Mintzer. Who is he from?
Where's he under the Jim Harbaugh tree? What did he

(04:46):
do when he was in college?

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Win national championship?

Speaker 2 (04:48):
And just sent a bunch of guys that are wrecking
shop and starting for multiple.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Defenses in the league.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
I thought it was Connor Stallions, but maybe I guess
Connor Stallions is helping those guys in the NFL on
all those different teams also too, guy that busy man
right there, in order to do that not just for
one college, but to do it for all these NFL teams.
This is about a culture change. As I talked about
or a culture continuation, because the culture in Baltimore is
already set.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
You don't have to come in and do nothing special.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
They got to figure out the offense, and they got
to figure out the receiver position. They have got to
address the receiver position. There there sits right there at
number fourteen. You can go getting in those we know,
we know, that's what we know.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
That's what Kyle Lemon could be on the board at thirteen.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
He could He could be though, because I think some
teams are going to move up, and I text you
a few of my way too early early first round predictions.
I think there's gonna be some movement in the top fifteen.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Rans have that thirteen Rams are right in front of
that pick of the Raiders, and there's been a lot
of you know, mocked drafts.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
I got a little Lemon sitting there at thirteen.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
But you know what, you might have a little draft
capital if you really have your mind to I agree
with you. I mean, when you think about Kubiak Sale,
we're talking about this yesterday. I had a chance to
sit in with Martin Vermonci yesterday. By the way, Monsei
is going to be on after our show today. I
saw sitting with Kerry anyway, so I you know, we're
just talking about this whole dynamic of quarterback and coach

(06:15):
and getting together on day one as Kubiak and Mendoza
will do it. I was harkening all the way back
to you know, Bill Wallash, very frustrated, finally got his
first opportunity to be a head coach of the forty
nine Ers bad forty nine ers team in nineteen seventy nine,
and the third round he picks Joe Montana at a
Notre Dame.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
So they were on the same page day one.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
So yeah, I think when you look at the Raiders
right now with Mendoza.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
Coming in and then you have gent and you have.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Bowers and you can get a dynamic receiver, you know, yeah,
you've got defensive problems, but you got an offensive coach
as your head coach. Kubiak, is that put those pieces
together from day one, young group, or there's a.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Great way to start the nucleus. Then you got to
build pieces. Not like it's going to be an overnight solution,
but that to me would make so much sense. So
my point is is that if you really are set
like a a Makay Lemon like and you can move
up a spot you make you use the draft guy.
You want to get that guy if you are sold
that that's the guy we need in this offense.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Get him, get him, but don't reach for him. Well,
don't reach for him here here, here's the thing with receivers.
Early for me, if you go through the last ten years,
right for me to take a receiver even with two
first round picks and a team that needs so much,
like the Raiders, and I'll get back to the Ravens
and Mints are in the sectionary. But if you're the Raiders,
you know, we know you need more. Right, receivers can

(07:45):
be found in the NFL draft. We have seen it,
Cooper cup pookin Nakup. There are guys that weren't drafted
there fourth and fifth round picks because those guys are hungry.
I go back and this week I rewatched all the
receiver combine stuff. There's some guys, man, there's some guys.
You have to replace Max Crosby. Though at some point

(08:07):
you have to replace Max Crosby. Need some point you need.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
A pass rusher. You're not gonna get Max Crosby. He's
top five.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Well, he's top five now, but we didn't see him
as top five coming out of college, all right, so
he had to turn he had he was found. They
found Max Crosby, and Max Crosby did his thing and
got built up into the player that he is. If
I'm the Raiders, I even entertain even taking that fourteenth pick,
if there's just not a guy that we love at
fourteen and I feel like I could get him at

(08:36):
twenty three, twenty four to twenty five and there for
another lea absolutely, and add more picks.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
Second round.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Most of your roster is made up between second and
fourth round picks in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Go look that up.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
It's not first round guys. So even if I want
to move back, if there's a receiver that are like, okay,
we don't get Limon, all right, but I still have
the best tight end in football. Okay, we have the
next people. I think generational style number one overall quarterback.
I still got, in my opinion, a generational very unused
and poorly using this rookie season running back. Yeah, okay,
get a lot of help. You're not winning this division

(09:11):
next year. Denvers strong. Chargers are strong, and I think
the Chiefs will be back. I don't know how far
they'll be back, but they're not missing the playoffs next year.
They're making moves, they're cutting people, releasing bit the Chiefs
are picking I believe eighth or nine. They need a receiver,
so you might not even exactly. So if will You
fall in love with? Okay, doesn't fall to fourteen and

(09:33):
then you know, and there's not a game changing defender,
get out and honestly, get out, get back, get some
more picks. Build this thing back to the Ravens side.
This move was so great for them because, as I
texted the other night, this now allows the offense to
not have to score thirty to thirty five to win.
Go look at some of these Ravens games last year

(09:55):
where and the defense wasn't as bad as people made
it out to be.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
You look at the second half of that season.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
The second half of the season, people couldn't move the
ball against the Ravens. Hamilton at the safety position and
now Crosby and they got some really good linebackers. Okay,
you look at that division they're playing against Burrow, good
luck with Crossby coming after you twice a year. Whoever's
quarterback in Pittsburgh, they don't even know who their quarterback
is gonna be. Could be Colin Murray. He's gonna be released,
so it could be Coler. Good luck running around after
that guy. And then in Cleveland the love you shador,

(10:21):
but good luck man with that guy coming after you.
You know what it's like by watching Miles Garrett chase
everybody every Sunday. Now you're gonna know what it feels
like to have that same type of player coming after you.
And I think what this is for Baltimore is a
culture continuation. We're seeing this we saw with the Seattle Seahawks,
and there's another hardball guy McDonald. Build that defense because

(10:42):
you're gonna need it in December and January. You, Mike,
can only win seventeen to nine. You might get Patriots
won three playoff games, couldn't score twenty points, But why
did they win those games?

Speaker 4 (10:53):
That defense?

Speaker 2 (10:54):
What did they got a defensive star in Gonzales on
that back end? Barmar now showing his face from Alabama,
who's all America coming out of Bama, who kind of
fell off but got to a new system, resurrected his career.
If you're Baltimore, this is just such a great move
because now I think it takes so much more pressure
off of your offense. They're gonna have a new offensive
coordinator coming in there, you got a new head coach,

(11:16):
and all eyes are on Lamar Jackson in that offense.
I think this defense now with Max Crosby, makes this
move so great, is going to pull a little bit
of that pressure off of the offense because maybe they
could struggle for two or three weeks in a row,
but the defense is only giving up sixteen seventeen points.
You got a chance to win every damn game every
single week. That's why I think this move was great

(11:36):
for them. In a really good move for the Raiders.
But I want to see what the Raiders do with
the fourteenth pick. Last point I make I keep that
getting asked. I got to text from people in box
message who won the trade?

Speaker 1 (11:47):
VJ?

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Who won the trade? We don't know until you won
because of the trade exactly, and we if this never
pans out for Baltimore, then it's like, oh, okay, you
know who won the the Philadelphia Eagles in Green Bay
Packer track who the pack Why?

Speaker 4 (12:02):
Because Reggie White got you a ring?

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Deon Sanders got Dallas A ring, Deon Sanders got San
Francis ring. When you make a player swamp or player
go somewhere else, Oh, who won that move?

Speaker 4 (12:12):
Let's see. Let's let's see.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
If you win because of that move, then that'll tell
me who want to move? Very good for the Raiders
depend upon to do a fourteenth but great move for
the Ravens with a defensive minded coaching. You're bringing in
a guy like that, Takest Presu off the office for
the Baltimore Ravens, it might opinion. Well, we'll see.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
I mean again, I always laugh when I see these
people great out drafts.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
The day of the draft, Oh, I had a draft,
I'm like, really.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
I remember the San Diego Union Tribune after they moved
up to get Ryan Leaf with the second over an
A plus draft, I said, you know, forget that.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
You know what, call me in three years.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
That's what I'm my partner at Philly Billy Wardondell and
I used to do.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
We used to do grade the draft three years late.
I like four I do well because that's when guys
are going to get new contracts.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Well by the by the end of the third year, though,
you pretty much know which direct, you're gonna go on
whether you are going to extend that deal or you're
already looking to cut ties. All right, So we got
a very busy, busy day and we're gonna stay with
the NFL for pretty much this hour. We've got some
deals that are already are on the table, including one
they raised a few eyebrows. And the question is will

(13:19):
this deal pay off for a team that is looking
for that last missing piece to get to the big show.

Speaker 4 (13:27):
We'll tell you the team, will tell you the player.
This is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
Harbin and Husky Here Fox Sports Sunday. We're in the
Fox Sports Radio studios. As we mentioned, the official start
of the NFL season will be on Wednesday, and we
are talking about deals that are already on the table
that will be official come Wednesday. We have legal tampering

(14:30):
going on starting tomorrow, audio business, like we haven't had
tampering going on. There's tampering going on all the time
in the NFL, let's sports period. Because what it is
is agents, you know, reaching out to general managers and
coaches and everything else. So this old tampering thing is
a joke. But anyway, technically legal tampering starts tomorrow, all right.

(14:53):
So one deal that's on the table is Djmore to
the Bills. Now, this was a second round pick. I mean,
that's that's a pretty good pick. I mean know there
was a fifth return and everything else, but I mean
it's it's a second round pick for DJ Moore. And

(15:13):
DJ Moore to me is one of those guys that
is a recognizable name, but he's never really ascended to
the level that a lot of people predicted he would.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Like he's one of those.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Guys like he led you know, he he gets yards,
you know with the Bears last year, I think he
led the team in receiving yards. But where was he
on the option list, you know, was he was? He
the number two guy? Duneesay is number one? I mean,
you know, you know what I'm talking about. It wasn't
like he was like the number one guy. And now
the Bills have used a premium pick to make him

(15:51):
their number one guy?

Speaker 5 (15:53):
And is he that?

Speaker 3 (15:55):
And I'm thinking, all right, well, did anyone think that
Stefan Diggs was going to have that kind of impact
on Josh Allen and the Bills when he arrived there?
Because he had a huge impact. He was a big
part of the development of Josh Allen. You think so,
oh absolutely that first year. Have you forgotten his impact
on that They're passing game won from this to this

(16:19):
that first year when Stefan Diggs came out. Now we
look at Stefan Diggs now as a guy that well
he got released by the Patriots as just a guy.
But that first year I think he had a huge
impact on the development of Josh Allen.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Now faded after that. But now the question is this
is Dj Moore that guy?

Speaker 3 (16:37):
Is this the place where Dj Moore goes to a
team with obviously one of the elite quarterbacks in this
league and suddenly raises his game. Look, you know, I
go back to Randy Moss. You know what the Raiders
got for Randy Moss when they made the deal with
the Patriots. They got a fourth round pick.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
A juice box, and a bag of Dorito's.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Fourth round pick for Randy Moss and Steerry breaks all
these records with Tom Brady at quarterback. So what's your
gut on Dj Moore with the Bills where they're bringing
them in to be their number one wide receiver?

Speaker 5 (17:12):
Is he that?

Speaker 4 (17:13):
Can he be that? With Josh Allen throwing him the football?

Speaker 2 (17:16):
He doesn't have a choice but to beat the number
one because that's what he was brought in for. They
don't have a number one exactly. So he doesn't have
a choice but to beat the number one. That answers
that part of the question. The second part of the
question is, but the question is is he going to
be a true number one? No, he's never been a
true number one. He's always underachieved.

Speaker 5 (17:32):
To me.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
One thousand yard season out of the last four six
is some change. Last year off of coming off a
nine hundred and something first year of Chicago had eleven
hundred yards. He had three other seasons where he had
eleven hundred yards, but the Carolina Panthers as a former
number one overall excuse me, first round pick number twenty
four overall to the Panthers, right, all right, So that's
not enough for me, especially over the last four years.

(17:52):
You're giving me one thousand yard receiving year and this
past year was six ninety six or something like that
with just six touchdowns. Touchdowns he's caught in his career
has been eight now. He's very reliable. He's seventeen seventeen,
seventeen seventeen since they started playing seventeen games.

Speaker 4 (18:07):
He doesn't miss games.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Okay, cool, great, Now will his numbers be better because
he's playing with Apple Turnover and Josh Allen, But that
doesn't mean he's gonna take them to that next level.
They've had receivers there and can't get to the conference
championship game. They've had receivers there and keep coming up short.
And they have a plethora of tight ends. They have

(18:29):
a great running game. It sounds good and looks really
good all on paper. It all sounds good, it looks
great on paper, But I put the film on and
I'm just gonna continue to put the film on and
not look at things on paper when you put the
film on. DJ Moore's cool, J Moore. DJ Moore's good.
DJ Moore's cool. But I like him more as a two.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
He's not a one. If we go through them, we
name the top ten one. If we go through and
name the top receivers in the NFL, how many names
do we name before we get to DJ A lot
fifteen to eighteen?

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Even on the last night he might have been their
fourth options.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Six six ninety six and only six touchdowns. Coachton Lovelin
had more receiving y'alld like I mean, so it's it
felt like, and I don't want to use this.

Speaker 4 (19:14):
Word too loosely, but it is getting there.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
When we talk about production and what you expect out
of your quarterback and what we predict quarterbacks are going
to be, it felt like desperation for Buffalo, Like like, okay,
we gotta go make a move. Stephan Dick so great,
he just got cut after one year with New England, right, Okay,
so you know this whole Stephan Dicks thing there, I thought,
what did they do with Stephan Diggs? The all Okay,

(19:38):
the office went up What did it contribute to though?
Did they get to the conference Shad? Did they win
a Super Bowl? Did they get to the Superno, he
was supposed to help do that.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
He didn't do that.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
And I think he's better. I think he's better than
DJ Moore. So you're you're actually going down. I mean,
Gabe Davis, They've they've had receivers there. I just don't
know if this is the move to put them over
the top. It felt like desperation because we fired our coach. Okay,
he took all the brunt, he took all the blame.
Our owner sounded and talked it like, talked like an
idiot at the podium after the season was over. So

(20:08):
we got to go make a move now because the
next blame game goes to Josh the next time. This
all comes around the people in the media.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
Like, well, essentially John Allen got his choice to be
the coach right and they actually stayed in house.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Guy he's comfortable with. You know, Josh Allen was in
on the meetings, is why. Man, we heard that.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
You know, they were interviewing Philip Rivers and he liked
Philip Rivers and everything else. Some other guys, I mean.

Speaker 4 (20:33):
J Moore situation as well. That's fine, Allen, but you're right.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
I mean, what are you gonna say, though, No, if
you're Josh right, If you're Josh Allen, I call you
and I go, hey, we got a chance.

Speaker 4 (20:42):
To get DJ Moore. If I go pull out anything
I got, thank you.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
If I go pull out my roster, I go, okay, yeah,
make that happen, because it's better than anything I got.

Speaker 4 (20:51):
But that's not always an upgrade.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
You could break up with somebody and then start dating
somebody else cause it's the best option for you at
that point. That doesn't mean it's the best option for
the long run. It's just the best option at that point.
Because the best option would have been to work with
what you had and try to build what you have,
which they had. What they've had, They've let guys get away.
They gave Davis called four touchdown pass in that divisional
game against Buffalo, got paid by Jacksonville instead of them

(21:16):
ponying up and keeping the guy. Now, he hasn't produced there,
but Jacksonville's got its own set of issues, but they
didn't keep them.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
Here.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Here's the thing about the Bills right now. Okay, so
new England had this miracle year a year rut. It's
not gonna happen again, folks. I'm not saying long term
New England can't be that team, but they're gonna come back.
They're gonna have a loaded schedule, you know. But if
you look at the Bills right now, we still don't
know the quarterback situation of Miami. We don't know the

(21:43):
quarterback situation with the Jets. New England's going to come
down with the big schedule. The Bills should be should
it should should be.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
Able to bounce back to at least be at the top.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
Of that division. Eleven twelve winds I got him.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
They don't, then we can. We can put the nail
in the coffin that window of whatever it is already is. Well,
it would say that, but I mean it would officially
be closed. So, like I, I understand what they're trying
to do with this DJ Moore Thing'll just be interesting
for a guy that you know, came in first round pick.
That's twenty eighteen, so it's been a while since he's

(22:16):
been in this league, but he just it's never happened.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
This is a year, not think about it. We're going
so it'll be the twenty six season. This is his
eighth year.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
We're going into his actually, actually it's going to be his.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Ninth ninety Okay, he's going to think about he's going
into his nintheen.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
He said he had one thousand yard year in the
last four. In the last four he had three.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
In Carolina, but they were all like eleven and some
change eleven and some change eleven. So it never is fifteen, sixteen, seventeen.
It's it's never gotten there. It's a yards and yards
in a seventeen game, seasons sixty fifty eight.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
Or something like that.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
It's between like fifty eight min list. I'm not a
math whiz, but like, and I was about to make
that point, eleven hundred yards is seventeen guys, got that's
like sixty eight yards a game. That's not that's not
that's Travis kelcey on the downhill.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
You got to get to that thirteen fourteen hundred total
before we can actually say it.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
Will I need fourteen or more?

Speaker 3 (23:02):
All right, let's find out what's training right now.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
So she has been all over the place.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
She was I actually filled in for her yesterday on.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
Her normal show with Martin and then she's in this
morning and then you're working with Carrie later.

Speaker 5 (23:18):
Is that right?

Speaker 2 (23:19):
Yes, that is correct.

Speaker 8 (23:21):
Like you said, I'm kind of busy at times, and
I needed to be at the Dodgers. Yesterday we had
training for the new tour guides, and we do a
training where everybody comes together, you know, not that I
need training, but I'm there to be supportive and show
my face because I'm a lead, so I, you know,
manage the tours.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Can I ask a question?

Speaker 4 (23:41):
I don't know the last time you saw Shay.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
Yes, but Shane and I were discussing the possibility of
maybe going to a Dodgers game.

Speaker 8 (23:50):
Oh, yes, yes, and I hear you have some pers
Oh yes, maybe maybe we can talk about that.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
Yeah, maybe we can make that have it. Maybe you'll
hang out at a Dodger game and share like an adult,
you know, and you and you're not working, you're not driving.
Response would just be on my own, you know, like, yeah,
that kind I won't drag you out of the actually
enjoy the ballparer experience. Yeah, yeah, we can do that.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
We can do that.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
We can talk about that off air and make it happen.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
If you ever see shi.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Yes, if I ever see I think I'm gonna run
into him. I think I'm gonna run into him. But
just real fast, I'm in my feelings because I'll just
went through that whole damn thing and I didn't get
an invite. I wasn't invite. We don't know. I'm just
saying it.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
We don't know if there's anything to be had. I
started throwing it out.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
You know, first of all, that that's MANSI understand me, puppy,
that she's got the connections. My friend, I know that
she's got the connections.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
She has all the connections.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
But that means I'm just throwing Listen, listen to Miss
Bologna say that can happen. It could happen, my friend.

Speaker 9 (24:49):
Okay, he's just throwing it out there, trying to see
if it can happen.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
I still wasn't included because there's no plans yet.

Speaker 4 (24:55):
No they're there.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
No, there's not yet. Definitely not. I'll see you ring
ceremony night.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
Tickets.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
Yeah, yeah, see he's got plans. He actually does have plans.

Speaker 8 (25:06):
Guys in men's college hoops, we've got a couple of
teams that have punched their ticket to the Big Dance
Northern Iowa at the NBC Tournament.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
They're headed to the Big Dance.

Speaker 8 (25:17):
Defeating the University of Illinois Chicago eighty four to sixty nine.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
They became the first team to win.

Speaker 8 (25:23):
Four games in four days at this tournament to be
able to punch their ticket at the Big South Championship.
High Point has punched their ticket defeating Winthrop ninety one
to seventy six. Also, Georgia Tech fired men's basketball coach
Damon Stodamyer after three seasons. When it comes to the NBA,
the Celtics lead the Cavaliers fifty six to thirty nine.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
They just got going in the third quarter.

Speaker 8 (25:45):
Coming up in about an hour three thirty Eastern time
the Knicks and the Lakers and Lebron James is a
game time decision for today's game. Jja Reddicks speaking to
the media earlier today, a couple NFL tidbits for you.
The Athletic reporting that wide receiver Mike Evans plans on
exploring his options in free agency come to the Chargers.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Excuse me.

Speaker 8 (26:05):
Apparently, the buc Buccaneers franchise leader in receiving yards and
tide and touchdowns, he's gonna see what the market holds.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
This was all by his agent, but the Athletic with
the story.

Speaker 8 (26:16):
Oh John NFL Network reporting that the Cardinals and two
time Pro Bowl running back James Connor have agreed to
a revised contract to keep him in Arizona for twenty
twenty six. He only played three games last season because
of an ankle injury. He will be thirty one when
it comes to the season and in baseball at the
World Baseball Classic, a bunch of games going on right now,

(26:37):
right now. Cuba leads Columbia seven to four. It's the
top of the eighth inning, bottom of the seventh inning,
where the Dominican Republic is crushing Netherlands twelve to one.

Speaker 2 (26:46):
Bottom of the fourth inning.

Speaker 8 (26:48):
Italy leads Great leads Great Britain five to two, bottom
of the fourth There back to you guys, all right.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Monsei, thank you very much, and yes, we will figure
out things for veg He's not excluded.

Speaker 4 (26:59):

Speaker 2 (27:01):

Speaker 4 (27:01):

I'll try to be my friend now.

Speaker 2 (27:04):

All right, coming up later, we're gonna have plenty of
talk about this World Baseball Classic. We got obviously a
ton of NBA news and yes, selection Sunday is next week.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
I got a question for you, st Yes, we just
heard about Mike Evans. He's a guy that I just
I can't Monty throws out their charges. It sounds great.
I'm not sure if you fit what Mike McDaniel's gonna
want to do there. But the Rams. You and I
were texting about the Rams the other night. This feels
like that year that they went and won, where they
pushed all chips and went and traded for Jalen Ramsey

(28:49):
brought in Brandon Comes like I mean, they they win
Von Miller. They went all in knowing, Okay, this is
the best shot we got right now. And I feel
like they feel like that right now with the move
that they're making. Could you see them go to a
guy like him and say, look, we may not have
what you want money wise, but we are the best shot.

(29:10):
We are going to be the favorites to win this
win and we're going to play at home. Okay, but
this is no knock on Mike Evans. I mean his
his career speaks for itself, all right. But you have
DeVante Adams of Poka Nakua. I mean it's like it's
like the Chargers situation. I mean, you brought Keenan Allen
back there.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
There's the same type of guy right older and if anything,
you know, the Keenan Allen things sort of stunted the
growth we both said of Maconkak right, and so you
know there's there's so many Mike Evans is going to
be somewhere, of course, But when you talk about the
two LA teams, I you know, DeVante Adams obviously is
the guy that they're going to use. You know, fourteen touchdowns. Oh,

(29:49):
I sure led the NFL, so you know, I like
he's got a Super Bowl ring. So it's not like
you know this guy in search of you know, being
a world champion. I just there are some quality teams
out there. You know, I'd have to really go down
the list Baltimore.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
They need one.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
Yeah, I mean, look one, you know, Mike, and when
you when you have a possession guy. We just saw
with Keenan Allen's return to Justin Herby, it was like
a comfort blanket. They were comfortable with each other, and
you know, during crunch time, I need to make this throw.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Who can I count on? And that's the kind of receiver.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
Obviously Mike Evans is so but no, I just you know,
I think we wanted to see could Matthew Stafford and
Devonte Adams get on the same page.

Speaker 4 (30:33):
I remember it took a.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
Few It did take a while, but once they found
the groove, you know, all of a sudden, he's scoring
touchdowns like crazy. I got to get to these quarterbacks
right now because we still don't have a clear picture
on who actually is going to be out there. But
I'm going to go back to the Vikings once again,
because to me, the Vikings are the most intriguing team.

Speaker 4 (30:54):
More so than Miami, more so than some of these other.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Teams, because obviously they have an elite defense, you have
elite wide receivers, and this team was twenty ninth in
the league in passing offense a year ago, and you
have that fine line because they're scrambling to try to
create some kind of cap space.

Speaker 4 (31:12):
But remember they can.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
Give a Kyler murray 'or one of these guys sort
of a league minimum if you're not on the hook
for the full salary.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
No no, yeah, Skyler's getting most of that from Arizona.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
But you have that fine line because publicly you're still stating, hey,
we haven't given up on JJ McCarthy. We still believe
he is going to be the guy in the future,
at least publicly you're saying that right now. But if
you sit him for another year, or sit him for
another two years, or you do bring in a quarterback
that all of a sudden boom, you're back to where
you were just a couple of years ago, winning fourteen games,

(31:45):
you're going to move that guy out. I mean, I
always go back to the Arizona Cardinals situation. Back in
the day, they draft Matt Liner in the first round.
They bringing Kurt Warner sort of a veteran's been there,
sort of tutor him, and the next thing you know,
Warner is just a better quarterback. Put him in and
goes to the Super Bowl, and Matt Lionard has gone forever.
So it's a fine line on the kind of guy

(32:08):
you're bringing in. If you bring in Kirk Cousins, obviously
there's a comfort level because he's been in the system.
He knows the team and everything else. The receivers know him.
Let's go to Kyler Murray for a second year, exactly, exactly,
that's the guy. So Kyler Murray, I'm a big believer
in Kyler Murray. I mean, this guy had legitimate you know,

(32:28):
none of this alternate. He was voted to two Pro
Bowls in a row, not as an alternate. It actually
made the Pro Bowl for consecutive years and deservely. So
he's still a relatively young guy. So you say, yes,
that's the right guy right now for the Minnesota Vikings.
And how does that affect your development of JJ McCarthy.

(32:50):
If Kyler Murray can jump in again with that defense,
it's not gonna take. They were twenty ninth in the
league and passing offense and dude, just getting the top fifty, right,
You're you're looking at eleven twelve wins easy, right, well,
with the number.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
Three ring defense only giving up two seventy six total
yards a game and Flores, who they signed an extension there,
so you know he's not going anywhere anytime soon. He's
gonna be there to lock that defense and they'll add
pieces to it. There are a lot of injuries on
the offensive side of the ball. The only reason why
I would say Kirk Cousins would be would be nice
because it would give JJ mccarthyy like an old like

(33:27):
you know, I call him Uncle Kurt.

Speaker 4 (33:28):
It'll give him a real veteran. Klumber is not a
veteran yet.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
He's still he's still he's not a veteran yet, But
I think he would be a better option right now
for the Minnesota Vikings. But you understand, over over over,
JJ McCarthy. But this is this is where this is
where it gets really really fuzzy. Like you said, they
got a clear lot of cap to make this happen.
If it's not gonna be Kyler, because the Cardinals, if

(33:55):
I'm not mistaken, they're on the hook for thirty six
point two guarantees, so they have to pay Kyler. So
even if you're Kyler, it ain't even about money this year.
Now it's a chip on my shoulder. You guys, forget
that I was the number one overall picking a Major
League baseball draft, also the number one overall guy in
first round picking both both baseball and football. I was,
I was all that I never lost a high school game.

(34:17):
I think think it's like eighty something to oh and
I never lost a high school game, you know, like
I've won three straight Texas you know state championship, which
is the greatest state championship we go win in high
school football. And I think this would be a great
move because the money works. But he's the only guy
that this would work like that where the money works,
and I think it'll show JJ. Listen, we believe in you,

(34:39):
but you got to compete in life, you know what
I'm saying, Like our network's believe in us too, right.
You let somebody, you let somebody knew him better than
you know, somebody hot, you know, come come our way.
We got to compete. So I think that would be
the only name, But anybody else is gonna have to
be a vetter. You want to bring a guy in
that you think can overtake JJ. Right now, I do
think Kyler he's more mobile, but he's he's got some

(34:59):
injuries to so that's gonna be the knock on JJ.
We just got to make sure we use the same
contexts and narrative for Kylie, who I love all Right?

Speaker 3 (35:06):
I got plenty of controversy with certain teams and the
quarterback position. What are they gonna do in Miami, What's
gonna happen in Cleveland? What's gonna happen in the Jets?
The list goes on and on. We'll provide the best
answers we've got. Coming up, This is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 10 (35:20):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Hartman and VJ Husky. Here Fox Sports Sunday again. Coming
up in the next hour, Lucky Less Shoe. It's gonna
run down all the categories for the Academy War.

Speaker 4 (35:45):
So getna be some paper down and head out and
place a few dollars on his picks.

Speaker 2 (35:51):
Now, I got all my things, man, I went through it. Man,
I'm excited.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
About this Oscars, I really am.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
Well, it's way because at first time you're gonna hear this,
so there's no conversation it's simply, like I said, it's
not a he literally comes on.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
I just I just read the categories all the way through.
He gives us the winner, and then he's out.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
We're gonna discuss afterwards, right, I mean, that's the way
he operates, all right. I want to talk about to
a tongue of ila, So understand this about to a
tongue of I Low. We're talking about a guy six
years in the NFL. His record is forty four and
thirty two. That's a good record. Yeah, he has a

(36:28):
sixty eight percent completion percentage career. That's good too, one
hundred and twenty touchdowns, fifty nine picks. His career passer
rating is ninety six point four. I mean, when you
look at all these numbers, you're like, Wow, who would
not want this guy? Well, the one team that doesn't
want him is the Miami Dolphins. And first of all,

(36:50):
is there any trade chance here orre they just gonna
have to eat it with him.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
From everything that I've heard and people have talked to
over the last three weeks, it's not that they don't
want him, it's just really expensive. Yes, right, It's not
that they don't want him. The Greer in the front office.
They just screwed this up from the beginning, right, They
should have paid him earlier. They waited, and it drove
the price up. Because I even was on our show

(37:18):
and I said, I don't think he's a fifty five
sixty million dollar quarterback, but I thought forty five, forty six,
forty seven would have been a fair deal for what
to has been. I don't always believe that the next
person up should get the highest deal. I don't believe that.
I do believe, though, when it's time for me to
get a new deal, it's time for me to get
a new deal, because I am the next man up.

(37:40):
That doesn't mean I got to be a high spaed
like that's the high speed quarterback in the league. Sixty
million dollars. He shouldn't be.

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Though, And I like that this was coming out that
forty six hundred yard season. Of course he's throwing the
Tyreek hill right right.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
Well, well, it doesn't matter. All great quarterbacks have great
receivers at some point in their career to throw the ball.
To the point I'm making is it's just really expensive.
It's ninety nine million. I think they would like to
find a trade partner, And I said this to you
off the air last week, and this is just a
very smart deal. What they should do, they should probably
they only like fifty six this year. What they should
do is kind of a check for about thirty thirty five,
because you're gotta eat this money one way or another.

(38:15):
If you do that, then another team would have to
defer or they can break up the rest of that
payment if they want to make a trade.

Speaker 3 (38:24):
So I got a destination for him, because I mean
we're obviously we talk about Arizona, we talk about.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
Oh, I got a destination for him too. We just
talked about him. Were you Minnesota?

Speaker 4 (38:37):
No, well you just had Kyler Murray there.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
No, I just said that Kyler because Minnesota is so
far over the cap right that Murray is the only
guy because of the dynamic of his situation with Arizona
where they could actually get him and actually pay him.

Speaker 2 (38:51):
But the way that they're shedding cap money. If the
Dolphins do, what could.

Speaker 5 (38:55):
You rather have to it?

Speaker 2 (38:56):
Talking about lower than Kyler Murray in that Minnesota offense,
in that Minnesota Oscuas I'm asking him too, he's much
more accurate. Absolutely too. He's way more accurate, but he
also will try to force the teen inners he was
that was just okay, that's just last year. But he
will try to force that thing into Justin Jefferson, and
that's what Justin Jefferson wants.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
Well, here's the thing about to it.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Just just last week celebrated his twenty eighth birthday, so
he just he's still very young.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
He's still young, and let's get real. It's the concussions, man.
The concussions are the only thing is why people think
Tua can't play. But you just read off all those numbers.
He also led the league two separate times and two
separate quarterback categories. Like it wasn't It wasn't like he
was completely bad. This year looked bad because everything just
fell apart. They fired a gym, the fire. Previous years
he had a passer rating over one hundred. And see

(39:45):
we remember what happened last right, so this year fired,
the coach fired a GM, lost Tyreek to a broken leg,
and dislocated me in week four.

Speaker 4 (39:53):
It all looked bad this year.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
Well, and that's unfortunate because again in Miami, I know
you are expecting Malik Willis too.

Speaker 2 (40:00):
I'm off that train. Now I backed out.

Speaker 4 (40:02):
I got to pick at eleven. Oh eleven, I am whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
I'm off that tray.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
I came off of it this week. I have to
do my research, you know that stuff. I know that
a week ago we were all over Willis.

Speaker 4 (40:15):
I'm off of it.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
Wow, I'm off of it. Okay, I don't have enough
time to the top of the well. Do that a
little bit later.

Speaker 4 (40:22):
I need an update on that. I'm off of it.
All right, very very good.

Speaker 3 (40:25):
All right, So to what tongue by low again, his
situation is, Miami's got to find a trade part. I
think the Jets are still in the mix to trade
for tool. Yes, I mean it's tough to get trade
a guy in the division. You'll see the guy, of course,
you know him. But that's a team. Look, the Jets
need a quarterback. I don't know if anyone could ever
save that franchise. All right, coming up on the next hour, though,

(40:47):
we're gonna switch gears. Got a lot of NBA news
to get to and yes, Lucky let's shoot with his
Oscar picks.

Speaker 4 (40:53):
This is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (40:56):
Do're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (40:59):
All right rolling along here on another huge sports Sunday,
Fox Sports Sunday. We're in the Fox Sports radio studios now.
The only d tour we take is coming up here
in about fifteen sixteen, eighteen minutes. That would be Lucky
Leshoe joining us a week early to run down all
the Oscar winners.

Speaker 4 (41:16):
That's right, we will go through all the categories. It's
rapid fire.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
I will call off the category, he will give the winner,
write them down, take it to the bank. This man
has an like eighty five percent right in all categories
over a thirty year period.

Speaker 4 (41:31):
It is insane.

Speaker 3 (41:33):
He's been a part of this with me for all
these years, and we will continue the tradition coming up
here later on in this hour, so Lucky the Shoe
will be joining us. Meanwhile, I'm watching right now my
Lady Bruins in the Big Ten Championship game, blowing the
doors off Iowa thirty seven is sixteen with two minutes
to go on the half. Ucla on a twenty four

(41:53):
game winning streak. Obviously, Yukon siny atop the polls. They're undefeated.
Ucla has a one loss of very early in the
year to Texas. I would love to see a showdown
rematch of last year's semi when Yukon destroyed UCLA. But
at least right now, it's always good to see UCLA
with a one next to it. I haven't seen that
on the men's side forever, but on the lady side,

(42:15):
we have it going on right now.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
So well, I went in at all, Steve, it's all
I want to hear from you. May all I want
to hear from you.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
I will say this the idea if it does come
down to the clearly the top two teams this year
are Yukon and I and you sel, So if it's
a rematch, I yeah, I think you know with the.

Speaker 4 (42:36):
Big girl in the middle, Lauren bets are six foot
seven girl inside. Yeah, yeah, that's she is. She's tough man,
Kicky Rice, look at her right there. She's a veteran.

Speaker 2 (42:45):
They got her had the killer year thirty and one,
like you guys are having a twenty four.

Speaker 3 (42:49):
Straight wins, longest winning streaking UCLA women's basketball history.

Speaker 2 (42:54):
So the championship or bus I am.

Speaker 4 (42:57):
My pucket is you got to the final four.

Speaker 3 (42:59):
They got to the final for first time in the
NCAA era they did previous to the NCAA era for
the ladies. Back in nineteen seventy eight, they won a
national championship aia W with my dear friend Ann Myers
leading the way.

Speaker 4 (43:13):
But us, Yeah, I love her.

Speaker 3 (43:16):
She and I have been friends forever and in fact,
she just texted me the other day the great Am
Myers Drysdale Hall of Famer.

Speaker 4 (43:22):
But anyway, so yeah, this is a great opportunity.

Speaker 5 (43:25):
Friend.

Speaker 3 (43:25):
They have a veteran team. They they got the experience
of being at the final four a year ago. It
was a little bit too much for them going up
against a juggernaut like Ukon, But.

Speaker 4 (43:34):
Yeah, rematch, I love it. Yes, UCLA can win, and
we'll win a national championship.

Speaker 3 (43:39):
By the way, on the men's side, Ucla got the
big win against Nebraska, so we're safely in the tournament
right now, probably probably about a nine seed I'm gonna
guess for UCLA, but we're gonna have selection Sunday coming up.

Speaker 4 (43:50):
Is that it's next week, next week, next.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
Week, this time time time brackets all right.

Speaker 3 (43:58):
So now on the men's side, on the NBA side,
so Jason Tatum's back, and you know, we can make
an argument. When we were talking about at the end
of last year, when we knew that Haliburton was going
to be out for Indiana and Tatum was going to
be out for the Celtics, you can start to write
them off right now. On paper, looked like the Knicks

(44:18):
and Cleveland, like those would be the teams. You know,
maybe Detroit could surprise a little bit, but at least
on paper going into the year, it seemed like the
Knicks and Cleveland were going to be the teams battling
it out in the East. Well, not only is Boston
very much in the mix, but they've been able to
basically stay there with a guy that I'm not quite
sure why Jalen Brown isn't very much in the MVP conversation.

(44:41):
How he was able to hold the Celtics, not just
hold him together. This team is, you know, sitting there,
what forty two to twenty one something like that right now,
the second best writer in the East. The Pistons suddenly
have lost three in a row. They may have lost
their way a little bit right now, but with Tatum
back and people say, wow, we'll see how he mixes in.

Speaker 2 (44:58):
What do you mean?

Speaker 4 (45:00):
He's been together for several years, not like some new face.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
Right now, they're blowing out Cleveland on the road by seventeam.
Are we suddenly looking at the Celtics right now not
just the team to beat in the East, but a
team that can win it all for the second time
of three years.

Speaker 2 (45:17):
But what I tell you guys last week, the one
team that scares me in the East. And you even
asked going to the finals, I said, nah, and Chris
we talked about this also last week. First round win
for the business, yep, second round win. It depends on
who they play. I still, I know you loved Durham
last week, but I just they still need a botified
Batman to go with their Superman. They just don't have
that quite yet. They've had a great season. But I

(45:39):
said this on air live last week, the team that
scares me the most would beat the Boston Celtics because
Tazem at that point we knew was scrimmaging full five
on five and I said, listen, if he's ready to go,
let him go. Don't hold him out. If he passed
all the tests and he scrimmages, and you guys see
it day to day, and he can go. And the

(46:00):
doctors didn't do their last check and say he's healed
one hundred percent, his cardio is good, the achilles is fine,
there's no injury, or there's no wear and tear to
the other leg for compensation, he can go. And then
once they got to that decision, he did started off
zero to five and then just went on a tear
and kind of woke himself up in that game against
the MAVs on Friday night, and I immediately text my partner,

(46:23):
my Hall of Famer sitting here to the left. I said, listen, man,
this is the team right here. You asked me even
last week Game seven, Eastern Conference Finals, Piston Celtics, who
would you take?

Speaker 4 (46:34):
What did I tell you?

Speaker 2 (46:35):
I said, I'll take the Celtics if they have Tatum,
because they've done it before, even against my my beloved
Detroit Pistons, my Pistons, I would still take the Celtics.
And like you said, they've been able to kind of
hold this thing together. Three and a half behind the
Pistures right now, So it's gonna be a hell of
the last five weeks of the year.

Speaker 3 (46:53):
Yeah, a lot of people just say, well, the Western
Conference is clearly better than the East.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
Shows that it is not.

Speaker 3 (46:59):
I mean, we saw the Knicks absolutely annihilate the Nuggets
right by thirty nine at Denver. By the way, there,
that why they made the change of coaches. Beyond me
in Denver, it made absolutely no sense. You fire a
guy that wins an NBA championship. Now you bring in
a guy that's suddenly in love with a four guard
lineup that that really worked well.

Speaker 4 (47:18):
You lose one to one Ozho three at home.

Speaker 2 (47:20):
They got to the New York Knicks, but they got
injuries also too big. Well it is, but Gordon was back.

Speaker 4 (47:27):
I mean, Denver's a mess right now.

Speaker 3 (47:31):
And and so when I'm looking at this, you know
the Western Conference, Oklahoma City, see Oklahoma City.

Speaker 4 (47:37):
Is they're beginning to play well again. Right They've won
five in a row.

Speaker 3 (47:41):
You know, you had a sense because just sort of
the overall demeanor of that basketball team, they're sort of
blase attitude about winning the championship a year ago, that
they sort of going to the regular season saying, eh,
you know, we got to play these games. You know,
we'll be able to turn it on once we get
to the postseason. Right now they're turning it on. They've
won five games in a row. Obviously, the Spurs are

(48:01):
very much in the mix.

Speaker 2 (48:02):
And like you said, after that, anybody buying into the Rockets, Nope,
how about ant and the Tea Wolves, Nope, Nuggets aren't
going anywhere.

Speaker 4 (48:11):
They've fallen back to the Lakers, Nope. And it there,
and that's it.

Speaker 2 (48:17):
This is a four team race right now. I'm calling
it out right now. This is a fourteen race in
the NBA Championship. It's a fourteen race. And it might
really just be a three team. I was gonna say, Okay,
mightn't really be a three team all right? So where
are we with the Pistons right now?

Speaker 3 (48:32):
The Pistons right now, ever relinquished the best record, and
all of a sudden, they have the third best record
in the NBA.

Speaker 4 (48:38):
They're behind Oklahoma City.

Speaker 2 (48:40):
About that.

Speaker 4 (48:40):
No more record in the East. That's what matters, not
the NBA's Are you.

Speaker 3 (48:44):
Still going to put them in the conversation with the Celtics,
the Spurs and the Thunder, Well.

Speaker 2 (48:48):
Yeah, they have the best record in the East, So
of course I'm gonna put them in that in that conversation.

Speaker 3 (48:52):
I mean, okay, but that's but do you see him
as a threat in the postseason, I mean conference finals.

Speaker 2 (48:57):
They're not going to the finals this year. They we
don't have enough offensive firepower. We still need another batman,
but we are better than everybody else in the East.
We're right there with Boston, Boston, and pisses to me
and Boston as two batmen exactly, they don't have a
But I've already admitted openly a game seven in Detroit

(49:19):
in the Eastern Conference finals, I would put my money
on Boston because they got one more guy than we do.
Everybody would have to play like tremendous for Detroit to
win that series.

Speaker 4 (49:29):
That's just real.

Speaker 2 (49:29):
This is a championship team. They've been to two finals
in the last five years. They've won the championship in
twenty twenty four. Jason Tatum, Jalen Brown, these are Olympians,
gold medalists, these are finals MVPs.

Speaker 3 (49:40):
Like they also lost a seven game series to an
eight seed Miami Heat. Well, I mean I had some
ugly losses, Sason. That happens in this group. That happens.

Speaker 2 (49:49):
But they what we recognize of them lately is that
their NBA champions. And if Tatum doesn't go down with
the with the Achilles last year. How far could they
have gone on the west on the West side. It's
a two team race. And listen, I think you're right
about okay See. I think we all sold OKAYC a
little short because of their blase kind of attitude. Their
superstars don't sit. Don't think about it. What player from

(50:11):
OKAC sits on the podcast, It runs his mouth doing
the regular season, not one none. We don't hear nothing
from this team. I keep forgetting how to pronounce the
head coach's name, like seriously, it's it's But when you
put that tape on and I'm watching them the other night,
right and I'm like, man, they they just play so smooth,
so fluently. They've been through a ton of injuries this
year too, and now that they're kind of getting everybody

(50:32):
back at about this time, San Antonio better hype it up.

Speaker 3 (50:36):
Point differential for the season eleven, they're number one. No
other team is at eight them. I mean, they are
so far and away leading the NBA in point differential
and they're giving up just one hundred and seven points
a game.

Speaker 4 (50:49):
That is second league to the.

Speaker 2 (50:51):
You know, second and third I was gonna say, no
second and third insults.

Speaker 3 (50:54):
Yeah, but the Celtics actually have a slightly five point two,
but they don't have the same kind of offense to numbers.

Speaker 4 (51:00):
That's for sure.

Speaker 3 (51:01):
All right, We're gonna break it a little early because
on the other side, it is a tradition, as Jim
Nanswers say, like no other.

Speaker 4 (51:08):

Speaker 3 (52:41):
I am doing great. Lucky VJ is sitting by right now.
He's anxious to hear how this is going to play out.
So let's get right to it. We have actually an
extra category this year, so I will rit fire off
the categories and Lucky we'll give us a winner.

Speaker 2 (52:55):
Let's start with visual effects.

Speaker 5 (52:58):
That gets up to Avatar fire and Ash.

Speaker 4 (53:02):
Avatar fire and Ash. Let's go to best Sound.

Speaker 5 (53:08):
It will go to the worst Best Picture nominee of
this century F one.

Speaker 2 (53:13):
F one wins. The best sound production design.

Speaker 5 (53:19):
Production design will go to Frankenstein.

Speaker 3 (53:23):
Frankenstein. Let's go to the music categories Original Song, k Pop.

Speaker 5 (53:30):
Rules It'll go to Golden from Demon Hunters.

Speaker 3 (53:34):
K Pop Demon Hunters Golden all right, how about original.

Speaker 5 (53:38):
Score, Chuck, another one up for Sinners.

Speaker 3 (53:42):
Sinners wins original score. Let's go to makeup and hairstyling.

Speaker 5 (53:48):
Number two for Frankenstein.

Speaker 3 (53:50):
Another for Frankenstein. Let's go to live action short film.

Speaker 5 (53:57):
Live let me find that that will go to a
friend of Dorothy.

Speaker 4 (54:02):
A friend of Dorothy. There it is all right.

Speaker 2 (54:06):
Let's move on to international feature film.

Speaker 5 (54:11):
It's a real horse race here, but with nine nominations,
I get to go with sentimental value.

Speaker 4 (54:16):
Going with sentimental value, Let's go to film editing.

Speaker 3 (54:22):
Film editing will go to one battle after another, one
battle after another.

Speaker 4 (54:27):
Documentary short film.

Speaker 5 (54:32):
You're going to hear the name Steve Hartman when this
is a war is presented. It's going to go to
all the empty rooms. The other Steve Hartman.

Speaker 4 (54:41):
Now, the other Steve Hartman. Very good.

Speaker 7 (54:43):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (54:44):
Let's go to documentary feature film.

Speaker 5 (54:47):
Goes to Netflix.

Speaker 3 (54:49):
Is the perfect neighbor, the perfect neighbor. There it is
documentary feature film. Let's go to costume design.

Speaker 5 (54:57):
Number three for Frankenstein.

Speaker 3 (55:00):
Stein wins again. Let's go to cinematography.

Speaker 5 (55:04):
I'm calling for the upset. Here, we'll go to the
film that deserves it. Trained Dreams.

Speaker 3 (55:09):
Wow, Train Dreams, What a great movie that was. Let's
go to casting, which is the new category this year.

Speaker 4 (55:17):
It'll go to Sinnas Sinners.

Speaker 3 (55:20):
I know you would prefer a different movie. We'll save
that for another day. Animated short film.

Speaker 5 (55:26):
Animated short film goes to The Girls Who Cried Pearls,
The Girl.

Speaker 2 (55:31):
Who Cried Pearls. Animated feature film.

Speaker 5 (55:35):
That's easy. K Pop Demon Hunters.

Speaker 3 (55:38):
All right, so K Pop Demon Hunters. I believe we're
now down to the big eight. Let's get it started.
Original screenplay.

Speaker 5 (55:47):
Put another one in the victory column for.

Speaker 3 (55:49):
Sinnas Sinners wins. Original screenplay. Adapted screenplay easy.

Speaker 5 (55:56):
One battle after another.

Speaker 4 (55:57):
One battle after another. Right now, let's get to.

Speaker 3 (56:03):
Let's get to the acting categories. We'll start with Actress
in a supporting role.

Speaker 5 (56:08):
I'm seventy five years old and she finally gets her flowers.
Amy madd again for weapons.

Speaker 11 (56:14):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (56:15):
For a horror movie though, lass wow, Amy Madigan. All right, Wow,
all right? How about actor in a supporting role Number three?

Speaker 5 (56:24):
Time, Danel. They loosen some other folks to be Sean
Penn for one Battle after.

Speaker 1 (56:28):
And that Wow.

Speaker 3 (56:29):
Sean Penn is gonna win his third Oscar for one
Battle after another.

Speaker 4 (56:33):
That is crazy, all right. Actress in a leading Role.

Speaker 5 (56:38):
Easiest awarded the Night, Jesse Buckley, Hamnet.

Speaker 3 (56:41):
All right, Jesse Buckley, she's winning everything for Hamnet. All right,
here we go. Actor in a leading role.

Speaker 5 (56:47):
Well, to go along with the six NBA titles. It'll
be Michael B. Jordans for Sinners. Wow.

Speaker 4 (56:54):
Michael B. Jordan for Sinners is gonna win Best Actor.
All right. Let's get down to the final two categories.

Speaker 5 (57:01):
Directing easy, Paul Thomas Anderson. After all those nominations, it's
a win finally for all.

Speaker 3 (57:09):
Right, after another he won the DJA Awards. It comes
down to one final category, and that is Best Picture.

Speaker 5 (57:16):
It's a horse race between Sinners and one Battle. But
I can't ignore the numbers. I say, one battle wins, Wow, one.

Speaker 4 (57:24):
Battle after another wins.

Speaker 3 (57:25):
All right, So there it is, Lucky Leshoe as always,
you are brilliant.

Speaker 4 (57:30):
We'll see how you do. We know it go well.

Speaker 3 (57:32):
Next Sunday will be the Academy Awards. Lucky as always,
Thank you so much, yeah, bless you guys. That is
lucky less shoe. All right, So that's some interesting stuff
right there. You want to jump in there, I sure
do so. As far as one battle after another, when
he Pictured and Director again and when the Producers Guild
it also won the Directors Guilbray the Michael B.

Speaker 4 (57:53):
Jordan.

Speaker 3 (57:53):
This has been a late run because we've been talking
about Chalomay for Marty Supreme. There was some buzz about
Ethan Hawk for Blue Moon. But it seems that Michael B.
Jordan has a lot of late momentum and obviously Lucky
picking up on and understand when he when he's telling
us these winners, the votes are in, Hey, the final
day of the votes being submitted by the Academy, they

(58:16):
are in. And I'll just say this, he has some insight, Okay.
I mean there's no way they never released the bouts
obviously public anything like that. But he's got inside words.
So there's no doubt Jordan has gotten a lot of
late run yep. And if Sinners is not going to
get Picture and Director, it would seem like Michael B.
Jordan would have a great absolutely to win Best Act.

Speaker 4 (58:37):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (58:37):
You know, this is right up my category being in
Entertainment and a comedian and actor, and Charlamayn has killed
himself off with some of the recent comments that he has.
You can't you can't talk about theater and opera in
America in entertainment business and not get some back. I
think that though technically it came a little after Yeah,
that's what they tell you.

Speaker 4 (58:55):
Here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (58:56):
I saw Marty Supreme, and it's a great acting vehicle
for the guy. Obviously he's going to have his day,
but it almost felt forced in a lot of ways.
It's one of those movies like you're almost going over
the top to try to, you know, show every you
know apps, you know, what you can do as an actor.
That's also could just kind of the style of the
of the Saftie Brothers directing that too, because it's like

(59:18):
that's it's basically another version of uncut Gems, the same
kind of just and that I found it fascinating that
it's not. I would have thought Delroy Lindo was a
shoe in for disagree.

Speaker 4 (59:31):
With You, and but again, Sean penn.

Speaker 3 (59:33):
See, I thought I foot phenomenal in one he is,
he absolutely is, but it would be but he would
be his third Oscar.

Speaker 4 (59:41):
I mean that ties the record. I mean you have
Jack Nichols, and you.

Speaker 3 (59:44):
Have Daniel day Lewis, and and now you would have
Sean Penn with a third Academy Award. You know, Catherine
Eppernat's four on the lady's side, Meryl Street bets three
on the lady's side. But you get that third Oscar.
Now you're in the really rarefied air and if Sean
Payn gets it, he is there.

Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
But I agree with you.

Speaker 3 (01:00:01):
I thought Delroy Lindo, who was tremendous and Sinner has
been tremendous and everything. He's in his seventies right now,
finally get his recognition as an actor for Sinners, I
really thought. And then you thought, well, maybe Benicio del
Toro's in one Battle of Never maybe siphoned on some votes,
but he's going with Sean Penn, Jesse Buckley obviously in
for Hamnet, and then he's going with Amy Madigan because

(01:00:21):
you know Musaku one meet Mussaku, who is outstanding in Sinners.
She's one of those that's been Teiana Taylor one battle
after another. A lot of people thought she might be
she could be a strong case for supported actor. Amy
Madigan was a big surprise too. But we've seen this
also to with Jamie Lee Curtis, right, career achievement.

Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
We have career and sometimes it comes down to a
career achievement or you're halle Berry and you grab it
while you're young.

Speaker 4 (01:00:47):
How about this.

Speaker 3 (01:00:48):
Amy Madigan's only other Oscar nomination was forty years ago.
There's never been a person that had a forty year
span between their first nomination and then and her second.

Speaker 4 (01:00:58):
I read that yesterday.

Speaker 2 (01:00:59):
But Sean Penn that that that's an okay pick with me,
Sean Penn number one, number one, the great acting family,
great career. Just a really good actor really involves himself
and engulfs himself and uh and his roles.

Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
But with Sinners, I agree with you.

Speaker 2 (01:01:15):
I see there's three categories they should win, but they're
not gonna win all three categories. Okay, they should win
Best Picture and Coogler should get Director.

Speaker 4 (01:01:24):
But he's gonna get us screenplay Oscar.

Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
Right, he'll get the screenplay Oscar. Fine, but it should
it should get Best Pitcher, and Michael B. Jordan should
win Best Actor like those But like you said, if
you're gonna give Best Picture, uh, if you're not gonna
get Best Picture of the Sinners. Then Michael B.

Speaker 4 (01:01:42):
Michael B.

Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
Jordan, Yeah, has got a way plays two roles in
the movie. He's gotta walk away with Best Actor. Are
are something's crazy about this? Because again Coogler gets this
will be that's fine, But this will be a disappointment
to me. Is when Denzel Washington did not win for
Malcolm X. Dinzel Washington should have you go back and
look at that year, look at.

Speaker 4 (01:02:03):
That group that he was with.

Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
There was no one that was close to the performance
that Denzel Washington put on the screen in Malcolm X.
But they gave it to him for Training Day and
I didn't never thought Training Day was in some of
his best work. I never thought that there's other movies
I could pull out that Denzel Washington did a much.

Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
Bad happens a lot thing Jane think about this. Martin
Score says he's only Oscar win for Picture Director? Was
the departed to depart it? Which I mean, you know,
I mean Goodfellas, I mean, how did Good Wash? How
did good Fellas lose out to Dance's Wolves?

Speaker 2 (01:02:36):
Thank you damn.

Speaker 4 (01:02:37):
Dances with Wolves with Are you are you kidding me?
I'm no I'm with you on that.

Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
The Party. Listen, the Party was okay, guys, like it was.
It's a movie you could watch over and over. I
liked it, but it wasn't a great movie. I liked it,
but it wasn't close. It's probably his fifth best movie,
thank you. It wasn't close to Goodfellas. It's not close
the good Fellow fellawshiup won. Goodfellas is a cult classic
that will last for the next fifty to one hundred years.

(01:03:03):
You cannot say that about The Department The Departed. But
with Michael bre I am all in on this this man.
If you come from Fruit Fruit Vattel Station, if you
go to Black Panther, when he's did with the Apollo
Creed Sun character in the Cream movies, just everything he
has touched and everything he has done, and then the
way he's sweeping some of these awards and some of

(01:03:25):
these others.

Speaker 4 (01:03:25):
He's got lam.

Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
I mean this right now.

Speaker 4 (01:03:28):
Early with shallow may late momentum when it counts. Is
with Michael B.

Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
Jorge, Yeah, late momentum doesn't matter. Yeah, the Sam Donald,
how the votes are acta same. Sam Donald had late
momentum for the MVP, and we saw and we saw
how that had not certain Donald.

Speaker 4 (01:03:43):
I'm sorry, Drake May, but well, the Academy works in
strange ways.

Speaker 2 (01:03:46):
I need, I need if if Coogler doesn't get his
this has got to be Best Picture because that's still Coogler,
and then Michael B. Jordan has got to win Best
Actor the disupporting Female. So I just still think Tianna
Taylor did a tremendous she did, but she was shocked
she didn't have a huge role in the movie. Now
you did hear she's She still got nominated though.

Speaker 4 (01:04:09):
Well and deservedly.

Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
Social dynamic, it's the idea of being in a supporting role, right,
I mean, did you make a difference in that movie?

Speaker 4 (01:04:15):
She obviously did.

Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
All Right, So there you go.

Speaker 3 (01:04:18):
H if you by the way, you can check out
our podcast if you missed any of the picks by
the Lucky Lisshoe And yes, you can wager.

Speaker 4 (01:04:25):
On the Academy Awards.

Speaker 3 (01:04:26):
And a lot of people just on social media all
over me saying we needed a week early. Well we
delivered a week early. Now let's find out what is trending?

Speaker 4 (01:04:37):
Sound was easy for me?

Speaker 2 (01:04:38):
F one, Yeah, that's an easy one.

Speaker 4 (01:04:40):
I don't think anything sawind Overton.

Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
Yeah, when racy movie, you have a recent movie, that's
kind of that's kind of that's.

Speaker 4 (01:04:45):
Kind of easy.

Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
My dad was a sound effects editor, so you can
tell you he did some racy movies.

Speaker 4 (01:04:50):
It's a challenge to say the.

Speaker 8 (01:04:51):
Least unsung heroes of the movie and television industry are
sound editors, because they're the ones that make it come
to life, you.

Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
Know, the ones that get scared, make you, make you
the sound makes you feel like that sound. When I
was in Hollywood, I learned light and sound. The act.
It could be crappy, stars could be unknown. You have
no idea. If you can't hear or if you can't
see it, they just make you feel. Those things make
you feel without without right.

Speaker 4 (01:05:14):
I'm gonna go really old school with you.

Speaker 3 (01:05:17):
The French Connection, a legendary move with Gene Hackman, won
Best Picture nineteen seventy one, directed by Billy Freaking.

Speaker 4 (01:05:23):
My dad worked.

Speaker 3 (01:05:24):
There's a famous chase scene in the New York subways,
and my dad was the guy that laid down the soundtrack.
I mean, it's so complicated when you do all this
and it's post production, like the movie's done.

Speaker 4 (01:05:35):
The last thing they do is the.

Speaker 3 (01:05:38):
Sound mixing or you have the dialogue, the music and
the sound effects. And you know a lot of times
my dad, you know, being part of that last leg.
They're trying to save a movie.

Speaker 2 (01:05:47):
It's the longest, the longest portion you can shoot a
movie in three months and then it.

Speaker 4 (01:05:51):
Could take up toy editing.

Speaker 2 (01:05:53):
They get the sound in the end, they re edit movies.

Speaker 3 (01:05:56):
People have no idea how much how much is done
after you've shot the movie, put together to make it fit.

Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
That's like all of the sounds. The only sound that
is really captured during filming is what the dialogue is correct.
All the other sounds a lot of dialogue.

Speaker 4 (01:06:12):
It has to be added afterwards.

Speaker 8 (01:06:16):
Yeah, absolutely, in the fully stage where you make all
of the you know, sounds come to life, which is
what's crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:06:22):
I just love the fact that they give these people
that do these supporting and opportunity to be on camera,
these anonymous people, not just the actors and directors, and
get their chance to be on national TV and get
their oscars.

Speaker 4 (01:06:34):
They deserve it. It's all it's a team efforts. Absolutely.

Speaker 8 (01:06:37):
I have nothing else to add because I've only seen sinners.
You guys are talking I can tell you.

Speaker 3 (01:06:44):
Here's what I'll say about the two top movie centers
and one Battle after another. They're very original, just like
Sinners is very original. Same thing with what you can't
say I've seen a movie like this. You couldn't say
that one Sinners. You couldn't can't say about one Battle
after another because we have so many remakes and it's
like if you wanted.

Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
Someone better after another. Right now, it is on that
just so, just so you know, yester week.

Speaker 4 (01:07:06):
It is on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
Yeah, yeah, so much.

Speaker 4 (01:07:09):
I will say this. I will say this, you need
to see that movie.

Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
I don't know if I am not gonna lie to you.
I'm not gonna lie to you.

Speaker 4 (01:07:15):
I guarantee you. I don't think so I make a deal.

Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
I guarantee you, guys, I enjoy that. I'm not I
make it.

Speaker 4 (01:07:20):
I'll make a deal. I'll make a deal.

Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
I just don't think you're gonna get me to agree
to watch it. Will though, Okay, if you watch that movie,
I'll do the vegan buffalo win. I don't care if
you do that or not. That's not the way you
react to when I said I would never. I don't
care just because I was like you would never.

Speaker 4 (01:07:36):
Forget the vegan wing. We should see this movie.

Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
You will enjoy it, you know, you know, I guys,
I'm just not I'm not a movie like. It's probably
three hours. I'm already over it.

Speaker 1 (01:07:47):
You already over it.

Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
Is Leo is everybody in this movie.

Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
It's like Sinners. Everybody's so good in the movie.

Speaker 4 (01:07:55):
You need to see.

Speaker 2 (01:07:58):
You don't play fair, just break it. If I watched
that game you.

Speaker 4 (01:08:06):
Played for keeps.

Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
Yeah, you guys, I'm just not a movie person. I
like TV shows. I'll do a scary movie because they're
long or short, but long movies. I'm just like, I'm
so over this movie. I did I know you weren't
a movie person. I found that out. Yeah, yeah, I'm not.

Speaker 8 (01:08:24):
That's why I'm like, I've only seen Sinners because it
was a scary movie kind of.

Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
Celtics held on.

Speaker 8 (01:08:29):
To defeat the Cavaliers, who try to make a push
there at the end, but Boston wins it one nine
ninety eight despite thirty points from Donovan Mitchell no Lebron
James for the Lakers. They're about to take on the
Knicks at home. Ruey Achimura is going to start for
Lebron James and I can't believe I'm gonna say this, guys, but.

Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
You've let me down and and Lebron.

Speaker 8 (01:08:50):
It's the anniversary of Lebron not letting the ladies down
when he sat down with Genie.

Speaker 2 (01:08:55):
Buss and said, Happy Women's International Day. Today's Women's International Day.
And you haven't said anything to me. So I'm just saying, guys,
like Lebron did it, you could have done it.

Speaker 4 (01:09:07):
Is there a talk radio host International Day?

Speaker 5 (01:09:11):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
I don't know, but we are on the anniversary of
Lebron doing that which you are. You are right of
the Happy International Women's Day to you, Thank you, my mother,
my daughter is serious, my daughters, my grandmother, and all
of women in my life, all the women out there.

Speaker 4 (01:09:24):
Yes, happy in the National Women's Day to you all.

Speaker 8 (01:09:26):
Yes, it was just funny because we all know that
video of Lebron when he didn't play and went and
sat down and like crossed his leg and was like,
happy Women's International Day.

Speaker 2 (01:09:35):
We're never I know.

Speaker 8 (01:09:36):
Oh, I absolutely agree with you, Jay, I absolutely agree
all right. In men's college shops at the you guys,
tell me, does the Atlantic Sun Conference get called the
a Sun or no.

Speaker 4 (01:09:49):
The Atlantic Sun Conference. Yes, I've heard of.

Speaker 8 (01:09:52):
Called the I was just wondering if it's because he
gets called I was just curious.

Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
But it's the final going on right now.

Speaker 8 (01:09:59):
Queen's Universe leads Central Arkansas fifty nine to fifty one
as they're trying to punch their ticket to the Big Dance,
but other teams have already punched their ticket. High Point's
headed to the Big Dance out of the Big South Championship,
defeating Winthrop ninety one to seventy six. At the NBC Championship,
Northern Iowa's headed to the Big Dance after taking down
University of Illinois Chicago eighty four to sixty nine.

Speaker 2 (01:10:21):
When it comes to the NFL, little news for you.

Speaker 8 (01:10:24):
Wide receiver Mike Evans plans on exploring his options in
free agency, and the Cardinals and two time Pro Bowl
running back James Connor have agreed to a revised contract
to keep him in Arizona for twenty twenty six. He
only played three games last season because of his ankle injury.
And we do we do have the World Baseball Classic
going on right now Italy and Great Britain. It is
the top of the eighth inning, Italy up seven to two,

(01:10:46):
while Dominican Republic crushed the Netherlands twelve to one.

Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
Dominican Republic in Pool D is two to zero out
of Pool A. Cuba defeated Columbia seven to four, and
now Cuba is two to zero in that cool just
real offend. Why is it brought out today? Bunch of
stuff I don't know? Yeah where he didn't know what
you mean.

Speaker 12 (01:11:05):
The one where he didn't know dat armed and hit
the ground, hold on bade hit the other guys show
he went down hard hard.

Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
It wasn't It was a delayed effect. One arm as.

Speaker 4 (01:11:21):
Goes down and all of a sudden he grabs something.

Speaker 2 (01:11:24):
He grabs both arms. Mean when he went and sat
on the bench and got intended to the Lakers make
they run, and all of a.

Speaker 4 (01:11:29):
Sudden he's hailed.

Speaker 2 (01:11:30):
He's back to the scores table, goes back in and
then the Lakers goal to score zero points with him
back in the game. He did that injury Now it.

Speaker 8 (01:11:39):
Says left elbow contusion and left foot arthritis.

Speaker 2 (01:11:44):
That's what it's saying. We used to spend more than
a million dollars a year in his body. Maybe he's
got a two million, now fifty million this year and
his last year with the Lakers. That's one hundred percent
for sure, Monsie, thank you very much. By all right,
let's uh by the way, he once again a reminder
here we're in the Fox Sports Radio studios.

Speaker 3 (01:12:01):
With the iHeartRadio app, he can stream us wherever you
happen to be. Just catch us and all of our

you always pop up at the top of your screen.
All right, I want to forget Lebron. Let's talk about

(01:12:24):
Luca for a second here. So Luca, by the way,
Luka Donci just had his tenth forty point game of
the season, joining Kobe, Jerry West, and Elginin Baylor as
the only Lakers to have at least ten forty point
games during a single season. Kareen never did it, Shak
never did it. Kareen never did it. Wilt never did it.

(01:12:46):
Only Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, and Kobe Bryant previously had
had at least ten forty point games during a single
season as a Laker.

Speaker 4 (01:12:56):
We know this about Luca. He is a ball dominant player.
You know, it's also one of.

Speaker 3 (01:13:01):
The all time legends that it was very much a
ball dominant player still playing obviously now in Cleveland, James Harden.

Speaker 4 (01:13:08):
How many championships as he have?

Speaker 3 (01:13:10):
Oh that's right now, now that we see more of
Luca and obviously you're you're at many of the Laker games.
I mean, no, there's no questioning obviously his offensive talents.
There is no defense when it comes to Luka Doncic.
You know, here's the thing I always remember about. You know,

(01:13:30):
Michael Cooper finally got elected into the Basketball Hall of Fame,
deservely so because he was the ying to Magic's yang.
Magic was not interested in defense. He led the league
a couple of years in steals, which is a very
deceiving category, but no one was going to have Magic
wasn't into locking down guys.

Speaker 4 (01:13:50):
He was the guy that was running showtime.

Speaker 3 (01:13:52):
So somebody has to play the and he had the
best defensive player in the league at that time.

Speaker 4 (01:13:56):
That was Michael Cooper. Lakers don't have that. They have Luca.

Speaker 3 (01:14:01):
I mean offensively, he's as gifted as any player in
this league. There's nothing he can't do on the offensive end.

Speaker 4 (01:14:08):
But that's the question.

Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
Is that enough to build a team around this guy
and do the only thing that matters with the Los
Angeles Lakers, and that is win a championship. As Kobe
said to me many times, there's two grades to a season.
A you win the championship if you don't, even if
you get to the NBA finals. So are you a
believer that Luka Doncic that you can build a roster

(01:14:33):
around Luca that will deliver an NBA championship? And let's
say the window is the next five to eight years.
That's about as far as I can go, five to
eight years. You think the Lakers are going to pull
it off with Luca?

Speaker 2 (01:14:49):
Yeah, of course they are. They got to get rid
of one guy. They were doing fine until he came back.

Speaker 4 (01:14:55):
They had a hot start.

Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
To just be honest with they were doing fine. We
didn't have all these questions. And I said this last
year sitting right next to you. Remember remember when that
trade was made and we came in here just flabbergasted
that they had made they had pulled this trade off
and made this trade right then, I said, yeah, but
how long before they got to get.

Speaker 4 (01:15:15):
Rid of Lebron?

Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
Because you guys are gonna turn on Luca And that's
exactly what we're seeing. We know what Luca already was.
Luka Doncech is not showing us anything new that we
didn't already know about Luca. What did you think he
was going to start to become some lockdown defender. But
that's not why you trade it. You trade it because
he's a four time first team All NBA guy before

(01:15:39):
the age of twenty five.

Speaker 4 (01:15:40):
He's been a pro player since he was sixteen years old.

Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
For Real Madrid, he took the he took the mass
that bump mass team to the finals, like took them
to the finals. You knew what you were getting, But
this is what we do in this business. Now, all
of a sudden, we are conditioned to have to have
a blame game and a blame part full Lebron James.
This team was doing just fine up until Thanksgiving when

(01:16:05):
he saw, Okay, they're winning without me and I'm not
getting no attention. Let me get back out here. Go
check the record. Since he's been back and he's missing games.
Like it's if you're asking me, can they build a team, Yes,
but you gotta get rid of this guy. It's time
for this guy to go so that you can put
the team around Luca that you need, because.

Speaker 3 (01:16:26):
This is not happening since he came back from his injury,
and really since the return of Lebron Austin Reese has
him in the same place.

Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
Well, I mean he's not been the same player. Attack
this guy strategically. Man, you got an agent saying on
a podcast with Max Kellerman, No, no, no, you gotta
play agent sitting on there with Max Kellerman talking about
a trade that they can move this guy. Then he's
coming off the bench. He's not the same guy. I
had a chance to talk to him. If I can't fast,
I had a chance to talk to him last week.
He's walking by me and he's leaving. He's walking by me.

(01:16:54):
He just ate.

Speaker 4 (01:16:55):
He's a you can feel it when he dapped me up.
He's a different guy now, all right, Well, they're going
to clean house.

Speaker 3 (01:17:02):
The goggen Heining group now in charge of the Lakers
are going to clean house after this season. Coming up
on the other side. There's a little something going on
with this World Baseball Classic. I need answers to we'll explain.
This is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (01:17:16):
Please, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 4 (01:17:20):
Harvin Husky.

Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
Here, Fox Sports Sunday once again in the Fox Sports
Radio studios. My UCLA Bruins Big Ten Championship. The ladies
are up seventy two thirty six. This is a Big
Ten Championship game. Okay, ah, I like it all right.
Lakers right now taking on the Knicks. We'll see how this.

(01:17:42):
The Knicks coming out that absolute blowout on the road
against the Nuggets. We'll get back to that in a second,
but I want a detour for just a moment here
on this World Baseball Classic.

Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
So I'm watching the US in Great Britain. Uh huh
Scoobol's first.

Speaker 4 (01:17:58):
Pitch home run.

Speaker 3 (01:17:59):
That was it for Great Britain. They end up losing
nine to one in that game. But I'm watching and
I see Trace Thompson, who I have known since he
was thirteen years old. Yes, Michaelson, Michael's youngest son. Y's Michaelson,
and I've known him since I took him and his
brother Clay at the time they were fourteen and thirteen

(01:18:20):
to a Tigers game when they flew out to meet
their father and me at the NBA Finals in Detroit
back in two thousand and four. I ran into Trace
two years ago at Dodger spring training. He remembered every
detail about that game I took him to. It's a
little weird when you see, you know, the guys like
mister Hartman, the guys like thirty three years old now whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:18:40):
But I'm watching this on thing.

Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
Wait he sayd he's playing for Great Britain, right And
I'm like, okay, so his father was born in the Bahamas.
So that's how you get in problem behind me in
right when you think about it right now, they're using
a lot of leniency in terms of like how far
back does it go if you're if your parent was

(01:19:01):
born in a certain country, you can represent that country.
Or is your grandparent or could it be your great
great grandparent?

Speaker 4 (01:19:09):
Do you like that rule?

Speaker 3 (01:19:12):
Well, I think to some degree it has to be explained,
like what's the connection or people look at Trace Thompson
and I'm like, how is he connected to Great break
Great Britain. I mean it's like, well, dad is from
the father was born in the Bahamas, and they yet
that's the connection with great I never heard great break
come out of none of.

Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
Y'all mouth lay my common wealth realm and mister Thompson,
I've never heard great break come out to y'all mouth midwah.

Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
I mean I can see the Bahamas if they had
their own r right, all right, So what do you
think about it? If you how many countries do you
think you could play for me?

Speaker 2 (01:19:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:19:46):
I could play for four. Okay, let's hear the four
of you.

Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
I could play for USA, I could play for France.

Speaker 4 (01:19:50):
I could play for the Dominican Republican. I could play
for Puerto Rico.

Speaker 5 (01:19:53):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (01:19:54):
That's my hair, that's my DNA. I'm I'm I'm mix mixed,
like I'm multi cultural. I always just thought I was
black and Dominican until I did one of those ancestry things.
Oh yeah, yeah, and then I found out because I
mean I have the skin, son in the eyes and
just your loves of life, my name. I followed my
name back where it comes from. Yeah, man, I could
play for four now, if you allow me to just pick,
those are the four countries. I could play for USA,
Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, or France. I could play for

(01:20:17):
four countries. See and you, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:20:21):
I mean, we have to draw the wine a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
You can't stop me, No, Chris Jay, you what do
you think should there should there be a line drawing them?
How far back you can go on your ancestry to
qualify to represent a certain country? I mean the the
The argument though, is like if you can't, if you
start setting the boundaries on that, you're just not gonna
have a tournament to begin with.

Speaker 4 (01:20:44):
For a lot of these countries are just not gonna be.

Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
Able to compete.

Speaker 4 (01:20:46):
They don't have enough.

Speaker 3 (01:20:47):
Four countries are always good, Like I don't mind jass
Chisholm and all these guys from the Bahamas playing for
Great Britain. And you kind of see this with the
World Cup a little bit too, right, Like a lot
of guys who can't make Team France end up going
to like Tunisia or like even Team USA picked up
Falari Balligan, who had basically like a virtual free agency

(01:21:08):
period on what team he was, what country he was
going to represent. I just I'm thinking about these teams
right now, and how many legit teams. I feel like
Japan is legit, right, Japan's legit, like you know legit.

Speaker 4 (01:21:19):
USA is legit. All the Latin American countries, I mean,
Korea is legit, yeah, Korea's yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
I'm watching Great Britain's lineup last night. I'm with you, Chris,
I'm like, hold up, how the hell are these guys
from Great Break coming well baby?

Speaker 4 (01:21:32):
And who the hell's on the Great brit right.

Speaker 2 (01:21:37):
GD?

Speaker 3 (01:21:38):
But yeah, believable. All right, we got some more NFL
news to get to coming up. This is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (01:21:45):

By the way, if you miss Lucky Lishue and his
Oscar picks, check out the podcast. It was in our
last hour, so he ran down every category. So we
had that with Lucky Liss Shoe a week early of
the Academy Awards next Sunday, of course we will be
counting down to Selection Sunday. Yes, we'll be on all

(01:22:33):
the way up until about an hour before the Selection
Sunday show begins. We get excited about that, you know,
because as you know, with the NCAA tournament, I mean,
here's the amazing stat Since North Carolina with Michael Jordan,
won the national championship in nineteen eighty two, since then,

(01:22:57):
the number one team in the final AP ranking has
gone on to win the national championship six times. Yeah,
six out of forty three years, actually forty two because.

Speaker 4 (01:23:13):
One year was canceled.

Speaker 2 (01:23:14):
So it doesn't happen at often.

Speaker 3 (01:23:15):
It's so often it's obvious that it's about matchups, right,
or you get an upset here and it sort of
opens the door for you. And that's why it's so
difficult when you're putting your brackets together.

Speaker 2 (01:23:29):
Last year, no VJ. I did the miracle. I had
a perfect first day sixteen and oh and then the
bottom fell out. And then the bottom fell.

Speaker 3 (01:23:37):
Out, but for one day and I posted it on
social media when my few posts on social media, because
they you know, we everybody here at Fox Sports Radio
fills out their brackets. But I actually had a perfect
sixteen and oh first day. Never done it before in
my life. Will never happen again. Unfortunately, from that point out.

Speaker 2 (01:23:56):
It's harder to do it now because the way basketball
men's basketball is. I couldn't believe it that day. You know,
We're coming down the final games that first day, and
I'm like, damn, I'm like twelve and oer right now,
I'm fourteen, I'm fifteen. I'd go to sixteen and no
one else had over thirteen. I went sixty on the
first day.

Speaker 4 (01:24:15):
Okay. So I again, we don't know how the seating
is going to be right now.

Speaker 3 (01:24:19):
But if I were to just pick four teams that
I think are the four best teams right now, I
would say Duke, I would say Michigan, I would say Yukon,
and I will I will go with Houston on a flyer. Okay,
So those are the four teams right now that I'm
looking at. You know, Kevin Sampson's been so close. He
didn't get any closer than he did a year ago.

(01:24:40):
But Houston's been in the mix for the last several years.
Yukon is ready for a bounce back season. To me,
Michigan and Duke have been the two best teams all
season long. I asked this yesterday of our dear friend Martin.

Speaker 4 (01:24:53):
A Michigan guy.

Speaker 3 (01:24:54):
I'll ask you, as a Michigan guy, knowing that yous
have an allegiance to North Carolina, would there be a
better dream scenario for you then to get a Duke
Michigan national championship game and Michigan running them.

Speaker 4 (01:25:06):
Off the court? Would that be a better day for
you in college basketball?

Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
If that came down to Duke Michigan and Michigan runs
Duke off the court to win the national championship.

Speaker 2 (01:25:16):
It'd be cool for me. I just need anybody to
run Duke off the court. I just don't think Duke
is a national championship team. But there you are right
now playing the best basketball.

Speaker 4 (01:25:24):
I don't think they are. I don't buy that.

Speaker 3 (01:25:25):
You don't based on what just because you hate Duke? No,
just did you see they just don't race North Carolina?

Speaker 2 (01:25:31):
Yeah? I don't know. Seeh go ahead. Who didn't play
last night? Who didn't play see say stuff like that
to try to get under my Skin's not gonna work.

Speaker 4 (01:25:38):
You know the deal. We just talked about it. Okay,
what happened.

Speaker 2 (01:25:41):
What happened when we're all healthy?

Speaker 4 (01:25:43):
They lost?

Speaker 2 (01:25:44):
Okay, that's the bottom line. So they're not a championship team.
I got a team in there. You didn't mention that.
I like, they won a championship, and I think people
forgot about it. That's Florida.

Speaker 4 (01:25:52):
Florida's really good.

Speaker 2 (01:25:53):
Well, they did win baarter back once. Florida's really good.
They also won an championship in recent years also too. Florida.
Florida's really good. Last year, last year, Florida's really good.
I still believe in Arizona and basketball. You get these
years where teams get off to a hot start of
these runs and then they run into a loss or two.

Speaker 4 (01:26:11):
So upset about North Carolina?

Speaker 2 (01:26:12):
What is your excuse? Because trying trying to you trying
to play my squads. Man, I was watching that game.

Speaker 3 (01:26:21):
Hubert Danaslleba, Hubert Davis is calling a time out.

Speaker 4 (01:26:25):
They're down sixty and he's getting all animated.

Speaker 2 (01:26:27):
They go back on the court.

Speaker 4 (01:26:28):
Next thing, they're down twenty five.

Speaker 2 (01:26:30):
Oh, I know their best player didn't play last night,
So every and everybody knows that Due didn't look great
last night. That first half, Carolina's down two points? What
are you talking about? The second half, of course, was gonna.
It's gonna eventually the flood gates is gonna come over.
You don't have the best player, who is a top
who is a top three pick, who was a top
three pick in the NBA draft coming up. We all
know how good, we all know how good Caleb Wilson is.

(01:26:52):
We all know, and he didn't play last night. Let's say, Caroline,
it's not unpressing in it. Have a matchup in the
NICA Tournament with a healthy North Carolina team, Well, he won't.
He won't be healthy. He's done for the year. What
are you talking about. He's done for the year. So
he's never gonna be He's not He's not gonna play
Duke ever again. He's not gonna make some miraculous Jackson
Tatum coming. No, he's not coming back his career and

(01:27:13):
he shouldn't come back. Get ready for the draft. I
appreciate your freshman year. We all knew you were one
and done. Anyway, he was never gonna play two. By
the way, the year la just finished off Iowa ninety
six to forty five. Can I just see you gotta
be more concerned about this team right here, and you're
gonna hear from me.

Speaker 4 (01:27:28):
You better hope your girls win it all. They are
gonna you better hope your girls win it all.

Speaker 3 (01:27:33):
They just won the Big Ten championship tournament game, all right,
ninety six to forty.

Speaker 2 (01:27:38):
They better not lose a tournament game.

Speaker 3 (01:27:40):
I know that fifty one point where Yeah, look my
big girl right there. Yeah, Lauren Betts.

Speaker 4 (01:27:45):
That's my booboo right there. Yeah, I'm not gonna front.

Speaker 2 (01:27:47):
That's my booboo right there, six foot He could play woo,
she could play. She's good, gorgeous lady too.

Speaker 5 (01:27:53):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:27:53):
She is very when you talk to her and you
just see her interviews and stuff we talked. She's just
so respectable, oh classy, so calm, so she she she
fits what you want.

Speaker 4 (01:28:05):
Just starved Michigan by seventeen and lose by fifty one
to U. C.

Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
L A.

Speaker 4 (01:28:10):
The rest, setting a message to the world. Yeah, our
lady bruds are gonna dominate the day. Better finish it.

Speaker 2 (01:28:16):
I hope I would hate for her to twist an
ankle and lose and then hear your excuse.

Speaker 4 (01:28:20):
Then okay, all right, I would hate.

Speaker 2 (01:28:21):
I would hate for any major player. Well, you're doing
the same for so I'm gonna do the same for
your bruis.

Speaker 3 (01:28:26):
Okay, anyway, Oh I hate Duke, but Duke right now
is playing the best basketball. Doesn't mean they're gonna get
to the they get to the final four, they get
to the they got to the final four last year,
and so and couldn't.

Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
Finish the deal with the number with the number one
overall pick. Well, he had a chance to win. He choked,
all right, Then he choke all right? Then all right,
every second.

Speaker 4 (01:28:45):
All right, So, point point blank period.

Speaker 2 (01:28:47):
I don't care how you playing right now, how you're
playing on March six and seventh, ain't got nothing to
do with two weeks from now. When you get into
the thickest time, Well give it. I can the four
games you're you're you're going harder. So no, you didn't
let me finish this Zona Florida and my fourth team,
And I'm gonna rock with you.

Speaker 4 (01:29:05):
I'm gonna rock with you in Houston. I'm'na rock with
you in Houston.

Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
Because when it comes down to it, we go to
coaching in college basketball, and when the game gets tight,
there's not a superstar player in the in the college
this year. To me that separates themselves from the rest.
There's about five or six freshmen that we just really
really like, but no one separates themselves.

Speaker 4 (01:29:28):
So then it's gonna come down to coaching.

Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
And I would trust a Samson, I would trust Azzo.
I would trust somebody over Shire. I would trust them
to Ioway. By the way, speaking of Davis, you know
what he did. You know how we got that first
win other than tremble hitting, you know how we hung
in that game. We didn't lead the whole game until
the last shot. And still you know, he got to

(01:29:52):
the champions with his first year. But he coached Shire though,
he out coached them that agress. That's okay, So then no,
tell me Duke's got a shot the win.

Speaker 4 (01:30:01):
Nothing. It's about talent when you get to the tournament,
it's not.

Speaker 2 (01:30:04):
No, it's not you know, it's about when when you
when you get to the sweet sixteen, it's about coaching
in college basketball at that point, all right, Well, Iszo
has gotten to a lot of.

Speaker 4 (01:30:13):
I want to say, that's why he's only won one championship.
So but he but he lesser teams going, but he
takes lesser teams.

Speaker 2 (01:30:24):
What is Zion? R? J? Bear and Cam Reddies not
even get to the final four? Who day right into
the Elite eight? Tom Iszo tell me Tom.

Speaker 3 (01:30:33):
Iszo's best player was on that team, saying right now,
Tom Iszo is a better coach than coach Eshowsky.

Speaker 2 (01:30:39):
Hmm, it's close. Okay, I'm asking you, it's close. It's
about okay, I got this question. I think he out
coached coach Ky. Coach K had the better team, but
he got out coached.

Speaker 4 (01:30:49):
They lost. Well, I don't know if Zion is a winner.

Speaker 2 (01:30:52):
I came.

Speaker 4 (01:30:52):
I'm just gonna say.

Speaker 2 (01:30:53):
Point though.

Speaker 3 (01:30:54):
At that point, there are two coaches college coaches, right
that are among the finalists this year for the Nate
Smith Hall of Fame. Those two are Kelvin Sampson and
Mark fu all Right, so those two guys both should
be in the Hall of Fame, right, But if you
had to choose one based on their college coaching career,
who would you choose between Mark Few and Sam Sampson.

(01:31:17):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:31:17):
He ran into some real problems, banned for the game
in Indiana.

Speaker 2 (01:31:20):
You didn't ask me about that. You ain't asked me
about personal Artis that's the part of his resume.

Speaker 4 (01:31:25):
Not for me, it's not. I don't do that, and
you know that by now you've been working with me
long enough.

Speaker 3 (01:31:29):
I don't think mark Few has done unbelievable job Againzaga,
I think Mark.

Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
Few has had the advantage of playing in a weak
ass conference for all these years.

Speaker 4 (01:31:36):
Let's not let's not do this.

Speaker 2 (01:31:39):
Plick a Zaga and the ACC guys over the last
twenty years. Plick Azaga in the Big ten over the
last ten year, twenty years.

Speaker 4 (01:31:44):
It's the facts.

Speaker 2 (01:31:46):
It's the fact. Gonzaga, let me ask you a question.

Speaker 3 (01:31:49):
They win a Look, if you get to here's the
way I look at the tournament as a UCLA guy,
I told you this off here. I don't really count
making the tournament until you get to the sweet six
If you get sweet sixteen, all right, you made the tournament. Well,
Gonzaga is in the sweet sixteen. What's seven years in
a row? Okay, they missed last year right after that's
that's an insane run.

Speaker 2 (01:32:10):
And they get the they get the gift of playing
in a week as college conference at least one quality team,
and you build it to the side, right right, that's right.
You gotta be one quality team where teams that come
out of the ACC and the Big Ten, they gotta
be quality teams all damn year long. Then go play

(01:32:31):
in the conference tournament. Then go be quality teams.

Speaker 4 (01:32:34):
In the march.

Speaker 3 (01:32:35):
Yes, good yam picking my U c l A. Bruins
to beat Michigan in a rematch in the Big Ten tournament.

Speaker 2 (01:32:41):
Absolutely not, absolutely not, you guys. Donovan dead man, You guys,
he was he was all oh man, he was destroyed. Listen,
I'm not I'm not even gonna sit here and baby,
that's low hanging through. U ce LA's basketball program is
in some flux right now. I like their coach. They
got some stuff going on. I'm not gonna take the
low hanging fruit that you take.

Speaker 3 (01:33:03):
Second guy, Harman and the only guys to go from
first four to final, I got you.

Speaker 2 (01:33:08):
I know that first game. Oh that's right, Tom is
a listen, Hey is a listen. Beheim has lost early,
Roy Williams has lost early. Every great duself has had
a lot of early up.

Speaker 4 (01:33:19):
Hold up, didnt.

Speaker 2 (01:33:20):
CJ mccullar, knock out JJ Redick and.

Speaker 4 (01:33:22):
Duke and like the first like the second round. All right,
there took him out.

Speaker 2 (01:33:26):
What happens. It happens, man, it happened. So they only
have one national championship, my dear friend Steve Fisher. And
here's the thing with even Michigan lost two championship, they're
set in prime to win it this year. But in
college basketball, once you get to the sweet sixteen, if
you do not have a guy that clearly separates from

(01:33:48):
the other nine players on the floor, it comes down
to coaching. And I'll take coaching in sweet sixteen a
llitiate and final four over your sir. You gotta have a.

Speaker 3 (01:33:58):
Carmelo all right, Right, I'm asked one last time who
was a better coach?

Speaker 2 (01:34:03):
Tom Izzo, Mike Krzyzewski. Give me iso he does more
with less? All right, there it is. He's done. He's
done what he's done more with less.

Speaker 4 (01:34:11):
I'd like, I say, I can't.

Speaker 3 (01:34:14):
The interaction I have back in the day with coach
Kate turned me off that I was already turned off
by ambathy.

Speaker 2 (01:34:18):
He didn't have to intimidate reps, he didn't have to
have people scared to actually come officiated. Listen, c DOUBLEA
investigated them, guys, So it did happen. I'm not making
it up? Yeah right, did it not?

Speaker 3 (01:34:28):
Okay, they got I'm just watching this splash of ucl
A ninety six forty.

Speaker 2 (01:34:32):
Look at they're like, what just happened?

Speaker 5 (01:34:34):
Here? Man?

Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
What just happened?

Speaker 4 (01:34:36):
Big ten Conference championship? He gave me?

Speaker 2 (01:34:39):
Ucla went by them. I want to see them against Yukon.
That's the women's women That is it. That's the women's
Natty game. I need, I need, I need Ucla women
against Ukon.

Speaker 3 (01:34:49):
That is twenty five game winning streak for UCLA, only
lost early in the year to Texas. All right, coming
out on the other side, we get back to the NFL.
Why because it's the NFL and they season officially starts
on Wednesday. We got all the latest trade rumors, quarterbacks
going here, there, and everywhere.

Speaker 4 (01:35:08):
We will bring it all to you Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (01:35:12):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 3 (01:35:16):
Harvin and Husky here Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 4 (01:35:19):
We're in the Fox Sports Radio studios. All right.

Speaker 3 (01:35:26):
So earlier we were talking about day one of the
NFL season, which is actually this Wednesday, March eleventh, as
the official start of the year. So all these trades
you've heard about and all this, you know everything, none
of those are official yet. They will become official on Wednesday,
and starting.

Speaker 4 (01:35:45):
Tomorrow, they have what they call the non tampering Period.

Speaker 3 (01:35:50):
What again, tampering is going on the definition of tampering
is you're talking to players that are under contract to
other teams.

Speaker 4 (01:36:00):
You can't do that, right, they said. The agents do
it all the time because they're.

Speaker 3 (01:36:04):
Always looking for the next stop or they're doing their job.
They're doing their jobs anyway. So but we were talking
earlier because if you listened last week, mister Miami Dolphin fan,
the team right now the thirty two teams in the NFL,
no franchise has had a longer run of seasons without

(01:36:25):
winning a playoff game than the Miami Dolphins, number one
on that list, So they are looking for an answer
to win a playoff game. We know that Tua Tongue
bail is out as the quarterback of the Dolphins. A
week ago, we're all hyped up about Malik Willis. The
incredible numbers. This guy's got a one thirty passer rating

(01:36:45):
over the last two years as a backup in Green Bay.
I was asking you if you trust Malik Willis. I mean,
based on a very small sample size in Green Bay.
Absolutely you know this is the guy. Blah blah blah blah.
So a week ago we were all sitting here and
you would pretty much convinced this then.

Speaker 4 (01:37:01):
Indeed, and I told it. I was on another radio show.

Speaker 3 (01:37:03):
I said, from what I understand, because I use you
as Miami Dolphin source, as you shure, I said, I,
from what I understand, it's going to be Malik Willis.
And then I walk in today I'm ready to talk
more about Malik Willisa.

Speaker 4 (01:37:16):
No, no, no, all right.

Speaker 3 (01:37:17):
So now all of a sudden a week later, Well,
first of all, before we find out which quarterback you
are going to name, why are you getting off Malik.

Speaker 2 (01:37:27):
Willis because of some of the research and some of
the people that I talked to this week and after
the combine, Because the combine changes a lot of what
people think they want to do in the front office,
and what coaches think they want to do, what position
coaches think they want to do, and what the GM
and VP of Football Operations wants to do. Because for
people who think that the combine is worthless. I don't
want to talk football with you because it's not worthless.

(01:37:48):
It may not be what you want it to be,
but it's not worthless. If it was worthless, guys, they
wouldn't do it. Billionaire businesses don't do things that are worthless.
That's not how capitalism and business this in America works.
Sports economy, finance doesn't matter. So after the combine, there's
a name that does this jump up there, and there's
a guy that you actually liked over the guy that

(01:38:09):
I've been really building up there, and that's big Carson Beck.
Carson Carson Beck. Carson Beck is the guy that I
really look at. Number one, loved it. The amount of
starts played on the Kirby Smart play played down in
Miami went to the National Championship Game, like just put
the tape on.

Speaker 4 (01:38:25):
The guy could play.

Speaker 2 (01:38:26):
Love the side six three and a half two twenty five,
two thirty bigger than people thought he was gonna be,
heavier than people thought he was gonna be. And the
little quarterback thing is cute in the NFL. When you
have the office that fits it, but you want six
three six four two thirty two thirty five, you want
big gonna go ta you want you want big body
type guys in the NFL the quarterback position because you

(01:38:47):
get beat up. You play seventeen games now and nine
times out of ten you probably got a play somewhere
cold in January.

Speaker 4 (01:38:53):
To get you a player. I don't want to hear
the name Tailing Green coming out of your mouth.

Speaker 2 (01:38:56):
You're not gonna hear that name because my football knowledge
is just way better and more farce period than that.

Speaker 4 (01:39:00):
To give you Tailing Green today, thank you very much.
You're very welcome.

Speaker 3 (01:39:03):
Yeah, because Taylor Green is one of those guys at
six six, it's a fourth rein right, look at it.
Two years of boys he two at Arkansas. You never
got better, never got better. You do not buy into
the Tailor Green.

Speaker 4 (01:39:16):
No, because I put the tapes he was. He's a
monster at the combine. You're like, wow, look at this guy.
Look at his college career. He never got better.

Speaker 2 (01:39:23):
You could be a monster to common, but the tapes
got a match. It doesn't in two names. And the
reason why I'm doing it this way is because story
to go Tailing Green. Come on, I thought you I
thought you loved me. I thought you loved me. More
than that, I'm glad. So when you look at the
first ten picks in the draft, yes, only the Jets
need a quarterback. Only the Jets need a quarterback. The Cardinals,

(01:39:45):
I think they're gonna go with Jacoby Brissette for a year.
I do they put what they scored points like crazy
with Jacoby Brissette last year.

Speaker 4 (01:39:52):
They just couldn't stop anybody, just.

Speaker 2 (01:39:53):
Go back up. I don't know you to coach there,
so I don't know stop so you stop that because
they're not taking a quarterback at three.

Speaker 4 (01:40:00):
There's nobody worth taking it exactly, so they're.

Speaker 2 (01:40:03):
Not taking one.

Speaker 4 (01:40:03):
Agather, I still think Tys Simpson is a reach in
the first round.

Speaker 2 (01:40:07):
Okay, that's fine. A lot of people think a lot
of these guys are reaches in the first rounds. And
then we just see what kind of coaching, what type
of system you put them with, and then we go
from there. The Titans at four, no quarterback, the Giants
at five, no quarterback, the Browns at six, no quarterback.
The seventh seventh pick, we'll go to Washington, no quarterback.
The Saints at eight, Chiefs at nine, Bengals at ten no.
None of those teams are taking a quarterback now the

(01:40:30):
Dolphins sit at eleven. I'm not saying take a quarterback here,
but I'll just go further to the draft ten Cowboys
thirteen Rams if you want to find Stafford's replacement now,
which has been the talk this week, I just think that's.

Speaker 4 (01:40:46):
Even a reach there.

Speaker 2 (01:40:47):
If I'm the Dolphins after Don also too just again
Ravens again, I'm sorry, yeah, I mean the Jets again
is sixteen, the Lions, the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (01:40:56):
Just stop for a second here, because you know, know
the Carson back situation.

Speaker 4 (01:41:00):
Look at it.

Speaker 3 (01:41:00):
If I could get Carson Beck in the third or
fourth round, that's the guy that was projected.

Speaker 2 (01:41:05):
But I'm telling you he's not gonna be on the
board in the third round. I'll put lunch on it.

Speaker 1 (01:41:10):
He's not.

Speaker 2 (01:41:11):
He's not gonna be on the round.

Speaker 3 (01:41:13):
There's a top ten pick in the draft. He is
not with you predicta Sure, Sanders and.

Speaker 2 (01:41:18):
Were there and we all know what that was. So
we don't need to revisit that, great Aaron Dickerson.

Speaker 4 (01:41:22):
Nobody has Carson Beck, nobody just.

Speaker 2 (01:41:26):
Because nobody doesn't have yet and everybody has your door
going in the first so I can flip your example
back on you. Nobody has Carson back and nobody has
your door going in the fifth, but that's where he went.
Just because nobody's got it doesn't mean it's gonna happen.
I think Beck will be there in the third round.
Back to the Dolphins. He won't be available in the
third round. If I'm Miami at eleven and I don't
see a player that just grabs me that I know

(01:41:48):
I could plug right in and it's gonna help the
team in a position the Dolphins I would love to
see actually drop out of eleven and drop back, because
I actually do when I put on more tape and
I went back and I watched four Alibea games this week.

Speaker 4 (01:42:01):
I actually do like Ty Simpson more than other people do.

Speaker 2 (01:42:05):
But coming out of the combine, the talk was, Wow,
didn't know he's gonna be that big, and you could
tell he's gotten stronger.

Speaker 4 (01:42:12):
He can whip that thing, he can spin that thing.

Speaker 2 (01:42:14):
The reason why I'm throwing him in Carson Beck's name
into the thought process of the Dolphins. And I talked
to my boy Cameron this week. They said it is
on the table because you could go with Malik, but
the thing that does scare me with that once again
is you have a very small sample size. And I

(01:42:35):
like Malik Willis, I have always know Simpsons.

Speaker 5 (01:42:39):
Well, no, you do.

Speaker 2 (01:42:40):
You have college tape to put on about TDD Simpson
when you go put on Malik Willis. You have Liberty
tape with TDD Simpson. You have, you have SEC tape,
you have Alabama tape. You have you have SEC champions
like you got. You got better tape. I put it
to you like this, you got better tape in him
and Carson Beck. Then you're doing Malik Willis.

Speaker 3 (01:42:59):
All right, against Indiana and the game they lost thirty
eight to three, he two for sixty sex.

Speaker 2 (01:43:05):
Why are you picking out one? Why are you picking
up the worst game? You pulled up the stats to
pick up the worst game. Okay, how about when he
played against Georgia. You remember that game la the season
when they lost twenty eight to seventy. He was nineteen
to thirty nine. He had a QER of nineteen in
that game.

Speaker 4 (01:43:20):
What does that mean?

Speaker 3 (01:43:21):
What might say is against the best teams he played
his worst football.

Speaker 2 (01:43:25):
Let me ask you a question. Doesn't Georgia defense do
that to everybody?

Speaker 4 (01:43:29):
All right?

Speaker 5 (01:43:29):
Then?

Speaker 4 (01:43:30):
Georgia, Georgia.

Speaker 2 (01:43:30):
No, no, no, no, no, we're not gonna do that.
Georgia defense does that against everybody. It's the NFL has defense.
They got some poor ones too, they got some piss
poor ones too. They got good ones. They got some.

Speaker 4 (01:43:44):
Of his passes.

Speaker 2 (01:43:45):
I look at it. I mean, I'm not saying at eleven,
I'm saying, drop out if you can, and instead of
going for Malik Willis and happen to pay a high
free agent price tag, there is a quarterback in the
second round if they want to drop back.

Speaker 4 (01:43:59):
How many years are you going to develop?

Speaker 5 (01:44:02):
Set?

Speaker 10 (01:44:02):
Anyway?

Speaker 2 (01:44:03):
So I don't know, it's not since win you're gonna
buy you that.

Speaker 4 (01:44:06):
I said, no when you haven't had a winning forever. No,
you're wrong. There's no sense of earth that you realize
this was a rebuild.

Speaker 2 (01:44:12):
It is, Yes, you did. You've been saying it all
year long. Well first, you've been saying it all year long.
Well okay, but I didn't protect you. You would have
a losing season, playoffs. You said it was going to
be a rebuilding year. When you fire your GM, I
you fire your head. When you fire your head GM,
you fire your head coach and you want to get
rid of your quarterback, it's a rebuild. If you're going

(01:44:33):
to rebuild, go the.

Speaker 4 (01:44:35):
Less expensive way. I thought you're going to a different direction.

Speaker 2 (01:44:38):
Let me let me ask you this.

Speaker 4 (01:44:39):
I thought this last one before we go to Manzi.

Speaker 2 (01:44:41):
If you had to pick who's going to be better
in the next two to three years in the NFL,
and you had a choice between Simpson, Beck and Malik Willis,
who would you go with.

Speaker 3 (01:44:54):
I would go the guy that the laced I've seen
go against NFL competition.

Speaker 4 (01:44:58):
That would be Malik Willis on.

Speaker 2 (01:44:59):
A small ample size other than rebuilding him against NFL
competition when he.

Speaker 4 (01:45:03):
Was coming out of college, would you say he was peditor?

Speaker 3 (01:45:06):
Ty Simpson is a zero to me, Carson anyone that
when you talk about prospect that the other word is
suspect until you actually do it. You can roll the dice. Now,
the Raiders are sitting with the number one pick in
the draft. They don't have a quarterback. Obviously you don't
have a choice. By the way, I happen to follow
up on a veteran quarterback that flies under the raidar
on the other side.

Speaker 2 (01:45:24):
Let me just tell his name at you too, Tyler Shuck,
a guy you raved about all year long. How they
find Tyler Shuck? Guys, no one had Tyler Shuck named
Tylas Chukwan.

Speaker 3 (01:45:32):
Gonna be NYA mock and Tyler Shuck because he's like
thirty years old as a rookie.

Speaker 2 (01:45:36):
Yeah, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (01:45:37):
It's the best matter. Didn't have no tape on him.
But what happened? Uh huh?

Speaker 3 (01:45:41):
All right, Well he also has a pretty good coach.
I think that Kellen Moore is going to do a
good job down the road for New Orleans. But first
let's find out what is trending. She's getting ready for
her own show coming up here with character I.

Speaker 8 (01:45:52):
Am and I guys, Like the best part about March
Madness and this NCAA tournament is when you see a
school you've known, ever heard of, who's never been to
the tournament and then they punched their ticket.

Speaker 9 (01:46:04):
And you just feel the fans think they act like
they won the like And this just happened at the
Atlantic Sun Conference Queens University, the first bid, like the
first game for them to actually qualify and get into
the tournament.

Speaker 2 (01:46:22):
That they've ever had in history. So like, what a
day they had to go to overtime, and it was
close until it wasn't.

Speaker 8 (01:46:29):
But they officially are headed to the Big Dance, defeating
Central Arkansas nine ninety three in overtime.

Speaker 2 (01:46:36):
I mean, it's just, you know, I don't again, I
have no idea who this team is, and I feel
it watching them on TV, like, it's just so so exciting.
Saw the Home of the Fighting Scottie Pippins. Oh, okay,
Scottie Pippins. Scottie Pippins.

Speaker 4 (01:46:52):
So do you think the Queens will be in the
first four?

Speaker 2 (01:46:55):
Now? The first four is you have like the ten
c and then you have those two sixteen seems it
seems that they will be. Yeah, they won't get the
I hate to say, like, but it's true.

Speaker 11 (01:47:06):
Those first four in Dayton, it doesn't feel it doesn't
feel like the tournament because Monday and Tuesday. Yes, no, no,
it's it's too Yeah, there's Tuesday and Wednesdays, not Thursday,
because Thursdays the day of the.

Speaker 2 (01:47:21):
Original it's got to be Monday Tuesdays. So it's Monday Tuesday.
So night after selection study you get Monday in Dayton
and you get the second night here. It always kind
of feels like there's years I've missed that game. I'm like, oh,
there was a game one.

Speaker 3 (01:47:35):
It's sort of like city at the kids table a
little bit, yeah, a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:47:39):
You're not really at the big table yet, but you're there.

Speaker 4 (01:47:42):
It doesn't counter get your bracket. Oh yeah, no, it
doesn't count.

Speaker 2 (01:47:45):
It doesn't counter of get your bracket.

Speaker 4 (01:47:47):
So it doesn't.

Speaker 3 (01:47:50):
In fact, when I said I want sixteen on the
first day, I think I actually missed one of the.

Speaker 2 (01:47:56):
It doesn't it doesn't matter, it doesn't count.

Speaker 7 (01:47:59):
Well.

Speaker 8 (01:47:59):
Other teams that have punched their ticket to the Big
Dance high point out of the Big South Championship. They
beat Winthrop ninety one to seventy six. At the NBC
Championship Northern Iowa. They're headed to the Big Dance, taking
down University of Illinois Chicago eighty four to sixty nine.
In the NBA, they're halfway through the second quarter in LA,
where the Lakers lead the next forty six to thirty three.

(01:48:21):
Austin Reeves eleven points Noel Lebron James for LA in
this one. The Celtics held on one O nine to
ninety eight against the Cavaliers in Cleveland, despite thirty points
from Donovan Mitchell in the NHL. It's late in the
third period, the Wild and the Avalanche are tied at
two a piece.

Speaker 2 (01:48:36):
There's less than thirty seconds to go there.

Speaker 8 (01:48:38):
We've also got golf going on the Arnold Palmer Invitational,
which I heard from you, mister Hartman, late last night
that Daniel Berger didn't even finish his round because it
was suspended due.

Speaker 3 (01:48:50):
To Yeah dayly, it's actually on the green for what
would have been an eagle pot.

Speaker 2 (01:48:54):
This was me listening to you at midnight through the
three Easter. I'm always wondering if anyone's watching that night,
and I was like, oh, okay, tomorrow, I seem like
I was still awake, absolutely, and he helped me prepare
for my updates for today.

Speaker 4 (01:49:08):
My Pickstrack had to win.

Speaker 2 (01:49:10):
Oh no, well, I don't even see him in the
top right.

Speaker 3 (01:49:13):
I see, I can kill anybody by making their prefer go.
He's uh, I said, I pick him because I just
like saying his name.

Speaker 8 (01:49:19):
Stepstraca nine shots back at the top of the leaderboard
of Daniel Berger, who is fifteen under par overall. Scottie Scheffler,
he is thirteen shots back and back.

Speaker 2 (01:49:28):
To you guys, all right, thirteen shots back. Yeah, that
is has got said he's gonna win two majors this year.
I mean I thought I would have put money on
that two v jem years not.

Speaker 4 (01:49:39):
Played well recently. But you know what, he'll win the
mass moments.

Speaker 2 (01:49:42):
He has moments where he does and then he just
kind of he's not winning the masses this year.

Speaker 4 (01:49:46):
Well we'll see, I sure will.

Speaker 2 (01:49:48):
You got sit right here and watch the bag around together.

Speaker 3 (01:49:50):
All right, Well, don't forget see why he hanging out
with Kerry Rhoads coming up here at the top of
the hour. All right, very good stuff there. Once again,
we're in the Fox Borts Radio studios. Now, if you

Speaker 4 (01:50:23):
Off the air.

Speaker 3 (01:50:24):
All right, So getting back to quarterbacks, So you know
we talk about Kyler Murray.

Speaker 4 (01:50:28):
We talk about two.

Speaker 3 (01:50:29):
We talk about Kirk Cousins, Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (01:50:33):
But there's a guy. There's the man Smith. I look
at Gino Smith differently.

Speaker 3 (01:50:38):
Everyone is just you know, he was like the scapegoat
for the disastrous season that the Raiders have. I get
back to the hiring at Chip Kelly, which was an
absolutely disastrous hires offensive coordinator. Geno Smith is still very serviceable.
You talked about with Minnesota. You you put Geno Smith

(01:50:58):
in that offense with those receivers, he could pull a
Sam Darnold. Tackle's gotta be healthy, the tackle, accurate passer.
He can get the ball from point A to point B.
I think Geno Smith would be dynamite with the Vikings.

Speaker 2 (01:51:14):
I'm not mad at that. But they're gonna have to
also find a running back because they're cutting Jones. Okay,
so you gotta know.

Speaker 5 (01:51:19):
That that.

Speaker 3 (01:51:21):
Talking about someone running that offense way, Kevin o'cana once said,
if they could do with Sam Darnold, you could definitely.

Speaker 4 (01:51:27):
Do it with Genas.

Speaker 2 (01:51:28):
You gotta have a running back to be able to
do that, especially if you're gonna have Geno Smith, because
he's not as mobile the Vikings.

Speaker 4 (01:51:33):
I honestly believe they have the pick of the litter.

Speaker 2 (01:51:36):
The Vikings are gonna be able to pick what they
want to do better than anybody else other than the Raiders.
The Raiders know we got number one. We're going after Mendoza.

Speaker 4 (01:51:45):
That set.

Speaker 2 (01:51:46):
The next team in line that has quarterback questions are
the Vikings and their next in line to be able
to line everybody up and evaluate everybody and pick exactly
whoever they want. They're not gonna have to worry about
the left. The Jets are gonna have to get leftovers.
The Steelers are going to have to get.

Speaker 3 (01:52:04):
Left I just envision Geno Smith being the NFL's comeback
Player of the Year.

Speaker 4 (01:52:09):
He took so much craft for this year. And by
the way, if you really break down.

Speaker 2 (01:52:12):
His not a bad call, man, that's not a bad
especially if he goes to Minnesota, that's not a bad call.

Speaker 3 (01:52:18):
I mean, I'm telling you, Geno Smith is a guy
that you know, he's just not really in the conversation
right now. You know, you rattle off four other veterans
before you mentioned Gino's name, and that's because that's what
we're talking about talking about Kyler Murray talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:52:31):
Do it isn't the best available right now on the market.

Speaker 4 (01:52:34):
In the right system.

Speaker 3 (01:52:35):
Absolutely, the one thing he does better than any of
those guys he can throw the ball accurately consistently that
if you watched any Raider football, this pass is terrible.
It was so discombobulated where you know, Jim Kelly was
throwing plays in that they didn't even have right. I mean,

(01:52:55):
there was such a cluster f it was instane call
player is that Gino didn't have on his ristbe.

Speaker 2 (01:53:04):
Forty seven? Hey, where's forty where's forty?

Speaker 5 (01:53:06):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (01:53:07):
Where's forty seven? A?

Speaker 3 (01:53:08):
It's not on that, not on My risk was this
is this is why that Raider always was so discombobulated.
And it really had nothing to do with Geno Smith
very little. And so you know, before the season began,
I thought, the Raiders have to be better. You upgraded
a coach, you upgraded at a quarterback, you upgrade at

(01:53:28):
running back, they'll be better.

Speaker 5 (01:53:30):
And they were.

Speaker 3 (01:53:32):
Well, they turned out to have the worst record the league.
So yeah, man, if I were the Minnesota Vikings. Again,
it's hard to talk about the Vikings because we still
don't know their cap situation. They got a couple of
days to get this SAMs.

Speaker 4 (01:53:46):
These teams always do. They'll find a way that capologists.
People don't understand.

Speaker 3 (01:53:50):
You talk about the most valuable person in your front office,
it's that capologist because you.

Speaker 4 (01:53:55):
Got to juggle those numbers. And it's not just for
that year.

Speaker 3 (01:53:58):
You gotta juggle numbers for the next two or three years,
saying all right, well redo this deal. Now we can
do this one next year. We got to make all
the pieces. By the way, speaking of money, the Dallas
Cowboys have arguably the best kicker in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (01:54:14):
Okay, okay, you're.

Speaker 3 (01:54:16):
Talking about a guy who's only missed nine field goals
ever from over fifty yards. He scored one hundred and
fifty five points a year ago. So the Cowboys are
offering him somewhere in the neighborhood seven million a year,
and his agent wants ten million a year, which would
make him the highest paid kicker in the history of

(01:54:36):
the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:54:37):
How much stock do you put in a guy who
is arguably the best kicker in the NFL?

Speaker 4 (01:54:43):
How important is that to your team?

Speaker 2 (01:54:45):
Not important enough at all when our defense is ranting
thirty ninth or excuse me, thirty first in points, thirty
second and yards per game.

Speaker 4 (01:54:53):
I don't your kicker. That's the least of their worries.

Speaker 5 (01:54:55):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:54:56):
They can put that deal on the back burner. They
both need to come to the table. That maybe non
point three, nine point two, something like that. But you
got some defensive issues. Man, Your offense was clicking last year.
Dak is doing his thing. You know, I don't like,
I'm not a CD guy, but he does put up numbers, pickings,
is gonna get that franchise slash transition tag or whatever.

(01:55:16):
But that defense, this this story, this, this just shows
you how Dallas screws things up. Like in a year
where it should be all defense, defense, defense, defense, defense,
and you should have ponied up the extra first round
pick to get Max Crosman. You let Baltimore slide in
and offer up there on the first in and give
that gun to pick. This year was twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:55:35):
Like I'm just trying to pay Brandon Aubrey over been
the Pro Bowl kicker in the NFC the last three
years in a row career thirty six out of forty
two from fifty plus, he has six sixty yard plus
field goals.

Speaker 2 (01:55:49):
Was it done? What is it done? But if you
lose that and you add to your defense, you ain't
gotta worry about him kicking sixty yard plus field goals
kicks the defense. Huge first round prediction Carolina Panthers. I
text us to see the other night, Carolina Panthers. We'll
move up into draft to go get Jeremiah. All right, well,
stay hold on to that.

Speaker 3 (01:56:08):
We get some final thoughts as we get ready for
again the official start of the NFL season.

Speaker 4 (01:56:13):
This is Fox Sports Radio.

Steve Harbin, VJ Husky Fox Sports Sunday. We're in the
Fox Sports Radio studios, Kerrie Rhodes, Monzi Blano is getting ready.
Monsey doing a great job here first and transferring to
her show today, hanging out with Carrie Chris on the
board doing a great job. And have we established again
who is the most legitimate Pistons fan between.

Speaker 4 (01:56:50):
You and v Just not a count, that's really not okay.

Speaker 2 (01:56:53):
I'm just you know, been a fan longer older seymore games,
Ben no more.

Speaker 3 (01:56:59):
You don't have the package deal though, I mean, like
the package deal is kind of very quintessential.

Speaker 2 (01:57:03):
To man, Ben, I was a Pistons fan for you
was born. Man, you can watch it on TV those
games on your market.

Speaker 4 (01:57:12):
I've been there.

Speaker 1 (01:57:13):
I haven't.

Speaker 2 (01:57:13):
Probably you probably been to more games than me because
you're from that area. But I've been there. I've seen
my Pistons. Like I said, I've been a Pistons fan
before you were born, Homie, Okay, I watched I watched Isaiah.
I watched Isaiah throw the ball away to Larry Bird.
That's what with a chance to go up three two
heading back to the path like I saw that.

Speaker 3 (01:57:33):
Yeah, I guess what so old will always I I
don't believe old always wins, and like look as cool
as the bad boys are, like the four team is
far more important to the city.

Speaker 4 (01:57:40):
Well, I got both of you guys.

Speaker 3 (01:57:43):
Yes, that is true. You can't even ask Rob Barker
that he'll back me on that. Bernie frad Detroit, I love,
I love my man. I'm gonna have to stop this, kids.
I got you both made. I actually saw the Pistons
with Dave Bing before they dress the Biggerstons fan.

Speaker 4 (01:58:00):
I know, not a fan at all. Give him that.
That was the longest week of my life. That was
an old joke.

Speaker 3 (01:58:06):
Covering four thousand and four the NBA Finals, that was
the longest week. I was there the entire week when
they swept three in a row from the Lakers. And
don't talk about it, by the way, in that I
told you that I took Trace Thompson, who was thirteen
at the time, and his brother Klay Thompson. It was
fourteen to a Tigers game because they had flown in

(01:58:28):
from Portland. The family hadn't relocated. It was my first
year of working with Michael Thompson when he came to
LA they had just finished their school was June, obviously,
and so Michael has his two sons, younger sons fly
in to join us at the Final four.

Speaker 2 (01:58:44):
How cool.

Speaker 3 (01:58:45):
And then we had an off day and we let's
let's go to Kamerica. Camerica was pretty new ballpark. We
let's go take the boys. And then the day of
the game, Michael calls me and he goes, hey, can
you take the boys?

Speaker 4 (01:58:58):
I go, what do you mean me? He goes, I
really don't want to go.

Speaker 3 (01:59:03):
Well, their uncle had flown out with them, so their
uncle and me took the boys.

Speaker 4 (01:59:08):
I treated them.

Speaker 3 (01:59:09):
Years later, I'm doing courtside TV Lakers playing Golden State.
I see Clay, you know, I get the mister Hartman
from the Thompson Boys. Right, Hey, mister Arviin are good, Clay,
Good to see it.

Speaker 2 (01:59:20):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:59:21):
By the way, you just signed a new like sixty
million dollar contract, the first big contract I said. You remember,
I treat you any chance I can get back the
hot dogs since your father will never pay me again.

Speaker 4 (01:59:33):
All right.

Speaker 3 (01:59:34):
So, by the way, we got Michigan Michigan State going
on right now, very early on the game. The Wolverines
leading the Spartans by a score of ten to seven.
But you're thinking Michigan State.

Speaker 4 (01:59:45):
Wins this game. Yeah, I got Michigan State winning this game.

Speaker 2 (01:59:48):
Something. No, I just look for number one. This is
no slous number eighteen in the nation, twenty five. They've
been playing well. I just think that in rivalry games,
you know just where things happen, especially on Sundays, and
Izzo would have have five at his six or five
in a row against Michigan. Like I'm going with the
coach here. You know, what I'm saying. I'm going with
the guy that I'm a big Iszo guy. I always

(02:00:09):
I love is the way I love Behind and because
they don't have all the bad the only ones that
he's ever said that. Let me tell you I love
I loved Behind because because I thought he was a
great coach.

Speaker 5 (02:00:22):
Was he?

Speaker 4 (02:00:23):
I mean he was he was? I mean think about this.
He was the coach.

Speaker 3 (02:00:27):
He started at Syracuse's head coach when Gerald Ford was
the president, so he was there forever any won one
national championship, He's got one.

Speaker 2 (02:00:38):
One has got one. Why he's kept them and it
doesn't matter. See, you're the problem with some of these
debates that argues with you is you pull out these
bottom line things and say that he had like.

Speaker 4 (02:00:50):
Syracuse and like it, he races everything else.

Speaker 3 (02:00:54):
Okay, when you make the argument arguments that the Iszo
has got the most out.

Speaker 2 (02:00:59):
Of his talent, he's got ada less. No, I said
he the most out of his task, that he got
most out of his talent. I said Izzo got most
out of his talent as comparison to coach K tell
the whole truth, like tell the whole story.

Speaker 3 (02:01:11):
Okay, Well it's Beeheim a guy that you could consider
one of those elite coaches.

Speaker 4 (02:01:16):
Yeah, because he was never.

Speaker 2 (02:01:18):
Getting the kids that Carolina and that Duke and that
Kansas were getting. He was never getting those guys. Well,
you're gonna tell me, John Wallace, You'll tell me about
Lawrence Moten. Yeah, you could tell me about Carmelo Anthony
and the one time and the one time he had
the best kid. What did he do?

Speaker 4 (02:01:34):
He went and won a championship. Well, Melow won that championship.

Speaker 2 (02:01:38):
What doesn't it doesn't, It doesn't matter. They did it together.
He didn't win it for him and Melo didn't win
it for him.

Speaker 3 (02:01:42):
No, no, no, I'm not gonna sit here and have
you downplayed Ronnie Cycley. I do not want to shit
here and you say that Ronnie Cychley was not an
elite player. Oh yeah, everybody, keep it on Fox Sports
