Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio, living the dream
once again here on a fully loaded Sports Sunday. This
is Fox Sports Sunday and we are in the Fox
Sports Radio studios. Look, it's no secret what we got
going on today. It's the final day of the NBA
regular season. All thirty teams will be in action. We're
(00:21):
going to talk about some of the playoff implications season.
Any award is gonna put a rap on the regular
season for the NBA today, and of course, VJ, final
round of the Masters.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Wow, we are getting ready.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
The final pairing of Cameron Young and Rory McElroy will
tee off here in about twenty minutes, so everybody else
is on the course. In fact, we are now getting
ready with Scottie Scheffler playing with the.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
What is it Hot tong.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Lee He is in.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
That and pairing and Scheffler is going to be going off.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
But here we are on a Master's Sunday, and it's
I'm gonna be honest with you here, VJ. This is
this is gonna be difficult as we start to really
get into this round, especially when we're gonna watch Cam
Young and Rory McElroy and Shane Lally and Justin Rose.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
I mean, look at this skater board here with Scotti Scheffler.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
So a quick note here about Rory McElroy. So last
night doing my TV, you know, they'd say, well, who
are you picking to win the Masters? And I said,
I'm picking Rory McElroy. They said, really, I go, Let's
go back in history nineteen seventy five, this exact same
thing happened. Jack Nicholas had a five shot lead after
(01:37):
the at the cut at thirty six holes.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Right at the time.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
He shoots a seventy three in the third round and
gets passed by Tom Whiskoff. He was actually in second place.
Weiss Cough shoots a sixty six. Johnny Miller coming up strong,
shoots a sixty five. So what happened the next day, Well, Nicholas,
we're battling with Johnny Miller and Tom Whitecoff both were
in their absolute prime. These two guys were absolutely in
(02:05):
their prime, and Nicholas hits this big putt at sixteen
to take a one shot lead. He finishes in the
pairing before them Miller and Weiscoffer in the last pairing,
So Nicholas has a one shot lead. Both Wiscoff and
Miller have makeable birdies at eighteen makeable inside twenty feet.
One was inside ten feet pressure pressure, pressure, and Miller
(02:27):
missus pressure. Weisscough missus sure, and Nicholas ends up winning
by one. So this is this play before and when
you look at Cameron Young, when you look at Shane Lowry,
when you look at Justin Rose.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
When you look at everyone other than Scotty.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Scheffler, the pressure on the back nine to wear that
green jacket for the first time is going to be immense.
And the two guys that already have their green jackets
secured are Scotty Scheffler and Rory Malroy. I think ultimately
that's going to be the difference today. Your thoughts VJH.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
No, No, First of all, this this is why I
love the sport of golf. A day like today, a
weekend like this weekend, this tournament's been great, and watched every.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
I've watched, every second I've watched, I watched every time.
I watched literally Roy McElroy's entire entire round. Before I
went to the Dodger game, I sat on my sofa
and watched the master key to finish it day and
they have the different views and the different apps you
can use. So I had both my iPads set up
and my TV on my young my son, Garrett, not
your young son anymore. He said, that was the most
(03:37):
entertaining day of golf.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Man.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
That's you had the hole in one, you had, guy
about that, great shots, you had, you had absolute meltdowns.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
It had everything.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
But today is one of those days where and I'm
gonna tell you this course and I love this is
my favorite phrasing golf. This course is going to rear
her ugly head at some point today because she always
has hold.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
On whenever else. Scotty Scheffler is just Birdie the first
long put two. Not just Birdie. That was a long time.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
He is at eight under now three shots out, so
three shots out.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
But this is just not him. You talk about Roy
Young Burns Lowry Day, who people have to remember was
a former number one player in the world at just
twenty seven years old.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
I remember that justin Rose.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
That guy's been around since Tiger Woods six on EA
Sports for Xbox three sixty. He has been fighting and
fighting nap Henley and then Scheffler. I disagree as far
as the pressure point that you talk about I totally
disagree with that. Let's start with Scheffler. Scotty is the
guy who's supposed to be.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
The guy right now, like he's the guy that's supposed
to be the guy. If you look at golf of
cosstal scope and you go, who's the guy?
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Just by putting on the tape. You guys know me.
I'm not a mathematician. I'm not a stat guy. I'm
a tape guy. Put the tape on. Scotty Scheffler is
the guy.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
And he's supposed to be the because you're the best
golfer on the tour, so you should be ranked the
best that you should be winning the most. Period.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
That's how sports should go.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
But when you also look at Rory, you and I
sat here during the last round last year, same predicament, in.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
The lead on the last day, feeling it, filling it.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
And we watched him have a meltdown and I said
this last year, and I text this to my great partner, who,
by the way, quick sidebar.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
We're texting.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Friday night, I get a text message from Steve Hartman
all the famous sins on my left and tells me
Rory's already won it.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yes, I did.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
Rory's already won it. It's over. I then immediately text him, Wow,
I did not know that the Masters are trying a
two day tournament this year. Bet, no problem.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Congratulations, let's move on to the NBA playoffs, is what
I texted. I was testing my kiss of death, which
is so legendary that I can do any.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Positive by just saying it is over. It's a lot.
Speaker 5 (05:57):
I always say this afterwards, you always say I'm of death.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Sorry. I did it that day because after the second round,
I mean, He's texted me and I said it is
I said, Rory has already won.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Now this is with a six stroke lead.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
So yesterday a record with a straight six stro lead
by whole two, it's down to three, by whole eleven,
is down to one, by a whole thirteen.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
He's down the stroke.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
The pressure is not on these guys that have it
won one yet. The pressure is to show for Rory.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
And I said this, and I'm gonna stick by it
unless he has the green jacking O today.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
I thought last year was a fluke.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
The rest of the field played terrible, and so did he, and.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Nobody stepped up and took the reins.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
If he plays like that today like he did last year, I'm.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Gonna give you a guy that. I'm gonna give you
a guy out like the Winness team. Give me Day
a State story.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Okay, Jason Day, by the way, the first time he
ever played the Masters runner up, right, So he has
played this course well over the years.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Look, if I'm gonna root.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
For anyone other than a Rory win.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
I'm gonna root for Justin Rose.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
I mean this guy. He's lost two playoffs, He's finished
second three times at the Masters. Remember he was seven
shots back last year forced the playoff. People forget this
about what led to the playoff. Rory had a five.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
They missed for the win. That's what I'm talking about
for the win.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
So he missed the putt at eighteen to win it.
Then it goes into the sudden death and obviously he
came away the victory over Justin.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
Rose almost the same exact putts to win and he
and he dropped that win.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
He I mean, the look at it.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
There's a lot of arguments about great courses and everything else,
but the way the Augusta National Courses set up sets
up for such insane druma. Let me let me give
you an example. So today Victor Hovelin and he's on
the eighteenth girl. He is sitting there, rolling along with
seven birdies and no bogeys, and he comes to fifteen.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
So now you're like, okay, here we go, we go.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
He could get to eight under, who knows, maybe nine
under double bogey, bogey, and then he birdied sixteen. So
he's at the eighteenth green right now, six undred of
the day, five hundred in the Tournament's not gonna win anything.
But again, that's the way this course he is. You
look at those two par fives thirteen and fifteen, and
you say he's eagle eagle territory. And then not only
(08:34):
do guys not eagle that, they'll put it into the
water and they end up getting a bogee double bogie. People.
Nineteen eighty six, the year that Nicholas won that last Masters, Sevey,
who had already won two Masters, has a three shot lead,
put it into the.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Water at fifteen. He put it in on earsday.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Yeah, how about that lease shot yesterday where he just
hit a napsu sculded straight.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Into the straight and then looked at it and then
looked at his caddy and the back wall. Win golfers
missed a bad shot, don't dude, you don't have to.
You practice your swing a thousand times.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Shoot, don't do that.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
That's like when it kicker misses a field goal, he
and automatically looks at the ground. It's not the ground.
You missed the damn kick. It wasn't your swing or something.
You just weren't locked in.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
You know what.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
That was one of the ugliest professional major golf shots
I've ever seen in my life.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
But you know what it is on that hole. You're
on the downslope. You know, when you're trying to hit
a golf ball on the down slope, trying to hit
it up. You know, if you don't pick it up
to get what happened to live, just a line shot
right and.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Break the tee if you put it on the tee,
and break the tee in half, if you have to,
That's what I would have done. I don't know if
they're allowed to know the roads for some of the majors,
but I'm putting that thing on the tee and I'm
breaking the tea in half.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
All right. A couple of guys on the move early
Oberg who got up you know, one of the favorites
going in. He's he had an opening seventy four three
under on the day. Through seven holes he's gotten a
six under. Jake napp U c La Bruin yep, I
saw him. I look the day he has gotten to
seven hundred against Scotty Scheffler birdie the first hole. So
(10:05):
three more parents going off. It'll be Dayan Rose. What
a parry that is? Burns and Lowry, Shane Lower We're
gonna get into that, and then Cameron Young and Roy
mcklroy in curse Cameron Young trying to become the third
consecutive Players Champion to win the Masters. Scotty did it
two years ago, Rory did it last year. Cam Young
was one of those guys, great talent, he just could
(10:27):
not close. He couldn't win at the Governments, but he
won the Players Championship. Is that you know, open with
a seventy three sixty seven sixty five, you know, and
he left a couple of shots out there yesterday.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
So Kenny, hold up, I don't, I don't.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Here's what they were, camra Young average Masters finish twenty eight.
Well that's normally where he is, so well.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Hold on.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
Hold on.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
So he's played in four Masters, he missed the cut
twice and the other two were top tens.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
So that puts you.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
But you know, seven eight, I mean it. I'm just
looking at I'm just looking at the average.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
And so if there's a guy because somebody's gonna fall off,
someone's gonna have a terrible day.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
We know that.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
All this is nine golfers I got written down. These
are all guys that have a shot. Even if at
seven under to start the day, you gotta shot at
this thing. You're only four strokes off. It takes one
double bogie and next thing you know, either Young or
or Rory is sitting at nine under and you're down
two strokes. You got six seven holes to play, man
buckle in focus, in lock in. You gotta shot to
win this thing. But I think someone falls off. I
(11:31):
feel it could be cameeron because you mentioned yesterday watching
him he hits great shot and then he hit shots
and it's like, dude, what if you went left yesterday
and you went left fried? We would you pay left again?
Speaker 1 (11:45):
You you like part fifteen, You've put it off.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
The you haven't hit that fairway yet, So do something different.
Or just lobb it. Just lay it up and put
it there safely so that you now can have a
better hole in a better score at a hole. I
just feel like he may be a guy that falls off.
But I'm not mad at your Rose pick, but I
just I think we forgot how really.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Good Day was. He is not a big name. He's
not a star.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
We had this argument last year about it, does golf
have a star? You need a fast where he had
the vertigo situation he had. He's a big on golfer,
personal tragedies in his life.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
He had a lot of things going on. But it's
been a while.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
I mean, he won the PGA Championship back in twenty fifteen.
That was theear of course that Speath won the Masters
in the US Open, missed the playoff at the Open
Championship and finished close second to Day. But yeah, at
one point was the number one. He would be a
very popular winner. Justin Rose obviously would be a very
popular winner. Shane Lowry is just a popular guy right
(12:43):
like a lot of people like him. But I think
the fans are waiting to see which Rory is gonna
shoot up. I will say this about McElroy after his
round yesterday. He said, well, look, I'm not gonna kid you.
It wasn't a lot to be happy about. But at
least I, you know, after the double bogate eleven bogie
at twelve, I bounced back with a nice birdie puttet fourteen,
(13:04):
and then he had a great shot, you know, the
two puttet for birdie at fifteen, and then he gave
one back again at seventeen. But he goes, you know,
I start of fought through it. The problem was just
early on he was just you know, par par par
par par. And by the way, Burn's playing with him,
who didn't have a bogey yesterday.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
By the way, it was the same thing.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
They were both playing like par golf there for about
seven or eight holes, all right, So we got to
cover what's going on. Final round of the Masters coming up.
On the other side, though, we're gonna get to the
final day of the regular season in the nb yay,
and we're gonna illustrate for you why the NBA situation
(13:44):
on the whole cannot be worse than it is. Right now,
we'll explain. This is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Steve Harvinvja Husky with you here, Fox Sports Sunday. Once again,
We're in the Fox Sports Radio studios. All right, we'll
continue to update you on this final round of the Masters.
H We're a few minutes away from the final pairing
of Cameron Young and Rory McRoy teen off, so we'll
have all the updates for you as it happens. By
the way, not only did Scotty Scheffler birdie the first hole,
(14:55):
so did Justin Rose. So two guys trying to get
themselves another green jacket, in Scotty's case, our first evergreen jacket,
and roses case off to eight. Greats just really quick,
because you're a big Scotty Scheffler guy.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
We didn't really get on him that first segment. He's
got I think he's got a shot the I mean
he's three off, right, I mean, I'm putting just give
me a number, right, right.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
So if he repeats his sixty five back to back,
sixty five, said Augustus a lot. But let's let's say
he does that, that would get him to fourteen. If
Rory shot sixty eight, that would be fifteen. So I mean,
really it's it would be he's going to have to
have guys come back. Okay, Yeah, he just overshot the
(15:36):
green on two and it rolled off the back, So
it's not impossible. I mean we've seen guys as far
as eight back the final round. We all remember, of course,
Greg Norman six shot leg going to the final round
in nineteen ninety six, complete meltdown with a seventy eight.
Nick Foldo shot a sixty seven to one by five.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Roy to you, sixty eight, you think that wins today?
Speaker 1 (15:55):
I think if Rory shoots sixty eight, which would get
him to fifteen under match.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
He wins, Okay, gotch wins.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
Got That's what I'm pretty you know me. I got
to make you put it.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Down like it I'll put it down all right. Let's
talk about final day of the NBA. So no games yesterday.
Everyone's playing today, all right, And before we get to
some of the playoff implications, we had a day two
days ago where an estimated one hundred and sixty eight
players set out. One hundred and sixty eight players set out.
(16:27):
In fact, today's an interesting day. For instance, you got
Nicola Jokic. Nikola, he has to play today. He's only
played sixty four games. So the game, you know, for Denver,
they they win, they clinch a three seed. If they
lose and the Lakers win, they would drop to a
four seed. I don't know if you're the Nuggets, whether
(16:49):
you'd rather play the Rockets or the Timberwolves. I don't
think it's going to really matter. They don't well against
both those teams. But Jogic has to play today, and
he has to play at least twenty minutes. This sixty
five game rule. If anything else comes out of this,
Cunningham is gonna fall short as sixty five games and
(17:09):
short of sixty five games. But I was looking at
like the top twenty scores in the NBA this year.
So I'm looking at the list of the top twenty
scores in the NBA, and I'm thinking, well, how many
games have they all played this year? You know what's
crazy about this sixty five game rule. So of the
(17:30):
top twenty scores in the league, zero will have played
eighty games this year.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Zero, no shock.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
In fact, only two of the players will play at
least seventy five games out of eighty two. That's the
top twenty score and this air is supposed to be better.
Devin Booker needs to play today. He's at sixty four.
Jokicic needs to play today. He's at sixty four. Kawhil
(18:00):
got to his exact sixty five. But Anthony Edwards will
not make it. Kay Cunningham will not make it. Vic's
gotta play today. Big Slim's gotta play today. Victor's only
a sixty four. I have him at Yes, he also
has to play today, So Wemmy has to play today.
The idea of literally these guys getting to exactly sixty five,
(18:22):
which by the way, means they have missed a quarter
of the season, right, a quarter of the season.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
This is what happens when you have.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Completely inept, ineffective management at the top. And I'm speaking
of Silver, that's right, Adam Silver, commissioner of the NBA,
who basically allowed the players to win this league.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
And they're doing it.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
And by the way, they're not going to give donca
ch any kind of exemption from his sixty four games
because he missed two games for the Nation child, right,
because look, the players are the ones that are great. Right.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
This is the rule, man, I'm tired of hearing about
this this week. This is the rule. I'm sorry, I'm
not doing it.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
He's not going to get any exemption. He's out, Nope, done, Nope.
So I would hope at the very least coming out
of this debacle, and this sixty five game rules made
it worse. We actually have more miss games this year
amongst the top players than we had before. And then
we had one hundred and sixty players sit out the
other day. Yeah, it's ridiculous, man, but this is Steve.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
Honestly, this is such a dead thing to me because
it is what it is, and I get it. It's
just something I don't even want to argue about because
we know what the reason is. You're getting more money.
The generation is lazy. You and I are Dad's right,
we're parents. Bo's a parent, and this is stuff really
only parents get talk about. That's why trying to talk
sports to a younger generational person that doesn't have kids,
(19:51):
they don't understand this concept that I'm about to bring
to you. You really see laziness from a different angle
once you become a parent, because you're looking at your
own child.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
Right.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
They know your child knows how to do their multiplication,
they know how to do the division, They know how
to read because I hear you. I hear you sing
every cartoon song all damn day long in the living room.
All this, so I know you know how to memorize
things and how to repeat things and how to do things.
And when you don't do it, it's almost like, ah, well,
my child is not getting there. My child's being lazy.
But if you're still gonna take them to the movies,
(20:21):
if you're still gonna buy them slurpees, if you're still
gonna get them ice cream, if you're still gonna take
them to the amusement park, then why would they actually
try harder? I call that rewarding bad behavior as a parent. Now,
on the flip side, as a commissioner, if you're going
to continue to sign, hey, listen, great global deals, great
TV deals, more money for everybody, but still continue to
(20:44):
let God sign for two hundred and fifty million to
under thirty five million, three hundred million, three hundred twenty
five million Jalen Brown super super super duper max contract
in the NBA. Now, if you're going to let them
still sign for that type of money, then I Am
not gonna rag on them because they're like, well, man,
I could probably play till I'm thirty seven thirty eight,
a lot longer than that other generation did. Plus I'm
(21:05):
making twenty thirty forty percent more than those guys ever
thought about making. Then why would I suit up and play?
I just looked at the top fifty scores in the NBA.
You know what I mean? He plays eighty two games
this year, zero zero out of the top fifty NBA scores.
Zero have shoot it up for eighty two games. And
(21:28):
I guarantee you there's a couple of them that could have.
They could have done it. But this is the era
we live in. This is I told you, this is
all they fall. This ain't just on silver, it's the
players too, because as a grown ass man, you can
still show up the work. You don't have to not
do it because you can get away with it. Michael
Jordan could have sat, Kobe Bryant could have sat, Magic
Johnson could They could have done it. Hey, I don't
(21:51):
feel that well tonight. It's the you know in the eighties, right,
the Clippers, the the you know.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
The the expansion Vancouver team coming in, Dictor Rafts coming
in tonight.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
I mean, this team stinks. They got eleven wins wearing May.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
I'm sitting.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
I mean, he's gonna wear April or March. I'm sitting tonight.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
But they didn't. They played eighty two games because you
want to show up. Michael Jordan, in his final year
with the Wizard It Wizard at forty forty years of forty,
played eighty two games. Eighty two games.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
Every game.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
It was a forty year old, not one hundred percent
in the kind of.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
Show about to say. With having his knee drained from February,
he started having his knees drained in February that year.
City in the here, guys, go have your knee drain
and tell me if you can go play basketball. He
played eighty two.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
Yeah, it is, it is what it is. Look at
Dodgeons is something games he's missed? Okay, he's played eight
years in the NBA. Each year he's missed ten games,
thirteen games, sixteen games, seventeen games, sixteen games, twelve games,
thirty two games in eighteen games. I'm not skipping any years.
(22:53):
That's how many games he has missed in each of
the eight years that he has played in the NBA.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
Meanwhile, Harrison Barnes has missed fifty two games his entire
career so far.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
The only year that he missed as few as ten
games was his rookie y tarhoo, and you don't have
a lot of cachet as a rookie. Sorry, there you go.
All right, we'll get into some of the playoff implications
around the NBA, but let's fire about what is a
trending right now? Good Monty, how are you today?
Speaker 8 (23:20):
Right now this exact moment, I'm a little bit on edge.
My computer keeps going in and out of a black screen.
So let's just hope it stays on right now so
I can give you.
Speaker 7 (23:28):
The proper scores.
Speaker 8 (23:30):
But I'm okay, I'm okay, happy Master Sunday. As you
guys were just talking about Scotti, Scheffler off to.
Speaker 7 (23:37):
A good start.
Speaker 8 (23:38):
He is one under on the day, but he just
got going three shots back at the top of the
leaderboard that now has three people. Sam Burns is now
eleven under, just like Cameron Young.
Speaker 7 (23:48):
And Rory McElroy.
Speaker 8 (23:50):
Those two Young and McElroy have not teed off, but
they should be teen off soon any second.
Speaker 7 (23:55):
But what a day. I'm sure Dan Byer is having
a great Christmas day.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
He is away. Shane Lowry bogied the first hole.
Speaker 7 (24:03):
Well that's not how you want to start.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
That's not the cheff with just bogie too. No part
two okay.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Yeah, no, yeah, party second.
Speaker 7 (24:11):
Yeah, he's one under on the day for three two holes.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
So yead birding the second, which is a part five,
is like a bogie there.
Speaker 8 (24:17):
Yeah, well again, just started, just started. Okay, Let's go
to baseball, fellas. The Diamondbacks currently lead the Phillies one zero,
top of the fourth inning, bottom of the fourth inning
in Baltimore, where the Orioles lead the Giants to zero.
It's the top of the third inning in Toronto where
the Twins are up on the Blue Jays four to one.
They also have the bases loaded and all of their outs.
The Angels are shutting out the Red so Far five
(24:39):
zero bottom of the third inning, Mike Trout with an
RBI double, the A's Nick Kurtz with a home run.
They lead the Mets one zero top of the fourth inning,
Tigers over the Marlins three zero, bottom of the fourth
there Rays leading the Yankees three zero, top of the
fourth at Tropicana Field. The Red Sox have scored first
with the homer from Contreras. They lead the Cardinals to
zero of the first inning and O'Neil Cruz with the
(25:02):
home run to start off things for the Pirates. They
lead the Cubs one zero, bottom of the first inning.
In the NBA, despite the record of twenty two and
fifty nine, the Sacramento Kings are retaining coach Doug Christy
for next season. In men's college hoops, Oregon guard Jackson
Shelstead and Kansas big man Florrie Badounga. They have both
(25:23):
committed to Louisville in the WNBA. This Sky traded two
time All star Ariel Atkins to the Sparks for Rikia Jackson.
Don't like that, big fan of Rakia Jackson.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
Goats you guys, goott Scott's clearing out, man. They moved
on from Angel too. They traded her last week.
Speaker 8 (25:40):
Yeah, I think that was just them same we picked Cardoso. Yeah,
that's what that was, you know.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
Yeah, thank you very much checking it. By the way,
we were here a week ago watching my UCLA Bruins
get off to an early lead against South Carolina and
then they just vote race crushed.
Speaker 7 (25:57):
Crushed.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
I mean it was like because they had poorly as
they played against Texas, and the semi said, look, if
they play like that, South Carolina's gonna run them off
the court. Instead, they played as good as I've ever seen,
honestly in the magnitude of the game. Any that was
the third biggest margin of victory in NCAA women's basketball
history in the championship game. So yes, it was great.
(26:20):
And then and they insist, do not call us the
lady Bruins.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
They did what championship teams are supposed to do. They're
a great team. That game against Texas isn't who they were, No,
it was just a bad game that they ended up winning.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
You knew if they could play like they've been playing
one loss. They had one loss to Texas, exact revenge
that avenged that you once you once you saw that
game kind of even in the third quarter.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
By the time I got home, it's the middle third,
I'm like, oh, yeah, this is this is a rat
They're they're just once that league grew, did it balloon
to thirty at one point out It wasn't.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Unbelievable and there's nothing that they could do. Six seniors,
six seniors on that team. They really the six girls
scored every single point in the final and they.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
All came back. They all had their little meeting last year.
They secret me, say let's go back and let's go
finish this day. And they did it. And that's what
you love about sports. I love that for them. Coret
squad Man, Yeah, it was great.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
Gabriel Hakez and Keicky Rice both came in as as
freshmen together, so they played four full years. And of
course they got Lauren Betts to transfer from Stanford after
her freshman year, so it was great. They're gonna have
another banner at UCLA. Her getaway, well, they she didn't
play much about She had a lot of hike going
in obviously when you're six foot seven, and she didn't
(27:33):
play that great her freshman year.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
So she decided to uh go to u C.
Speaker 6 (27:38):
L A.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
And give credit to Corey Close to the coach, she
really pulled it together for that team.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
So it was a great guy.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
I texted h Annie Myers, the Hall of Famer at
the end of the game because she was there, and
she texted me back with all kinds of hearts, you know,
blue and gold.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
So it was a great day.
Speaker 4 (27:54):
Also, so really quick about coach Close. You know what
was cool about seeing her win. I didn't know she'd
been here that long.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
See, And see that's that's what's cool about the story,
not just the senior girls. It's just that you guys
didn't fire her, right exactly. She didn't fire fifteen year.
No one gets fifteen years and coaching. And when I
heard that, I said, you know, by the way, see
that's kudos to them for not firing her, for not
getting it done all these years. And look what it
did for you. Now you got a banner hanging up.
(28:21):
She could probably retire there. She'll never have that. She
won't get run out of it.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Remember this, John Wooden won his first NCAA championship in
his sixteenth.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
Year at uc I did not know that.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
It was that wow, sixteenth year at UCLA when he
won his first championship.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Then one ten.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Have never told me that stat because now every time
you bring them up and say, yeah, it took him
fifteen years to win one. Yeah, yeah, he null owned
him back in the when he was at Berkeley. He
couldn't beat the guy anywow. All right, So here we
are once again. All right, let's talk a little bit
about potential matchups. Yeah, let's do it.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
So we're sitting.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Here in the NBA in this final day, and it's
just a really wacky day. You got all thirty teams
in action, fifteen games. The East teams are playing first,
and then the Western Conference teams are playing next. That's
how the schedule plays out in this final day of
the regular season. But let's start with the West right now.
I mentioned earlier about the Denver Nuggets. So the Nuggets
(29:20):
are sitting with the three seed. The Lakers clinched at
least home court in the first round, so they're no
worse than the fourth seed the Wolves. Well, Timberwolves are
locked into the sixth seed and the Rockets are now
tied into the fifth seed. So the Nuggets really controlled
their destiny here if they go out and purposely lose,
(29:42):
and yes, you heard me, purposely lose. Would you rather
play the Rockets or would you rather play the Timberwolves?
The Nuggets basically have a choice based on what they
do today, to either play the Rockets or the Timberwolves.
Are you asking for You're asking for the Lakers or
you're asking for the nuther. I'm talking about the Nuggets
(30:03):
because the Lakers are not controlling their.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Desk stake today.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
It's the Nuggets that will decide who. And by the way,
the Nuggets have eleven game winning streak going right now. Yep,
they sat out everyone the other day and they still
beat the thunder by like thirty because the Nuggets thunder
all right, So who would you rather play? If you're
the Nuggets, the Rockets are the Timberwolves, And I guess
the question would also be for the Lakers. Would you
rather play the Rockets or the Timberwolves?
Speaker 4 (30:27):
You know, what it's gonna be a bailout answer, because
I don't if you're the Nuggle, I think the Nuggets
can beat the Lakers, the Rockets, order Timberwolves.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
I don't think it really matters.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
They have winning records, by the way, against all three
of them, right against against those teams. They I guess
I would say the Rockets because watching them over the
last month or so, they're Kevin Durant or bust and
it really and it really.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Feels that way.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
I know, I know Thompson gives them some minutes some
nights and chagoon, but I think that whole thing that
happened between the tweets and the.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Stuff, I think that's really affected his brain.
Speaker 4 (30:58):
You know, a lot of times, some of these guys
coming from other countries to play the American game of basketball,
they're not mentally built for criticism because they don't get
criticism like that where they come from, so especially from
a teammate and social media and all of that. So
I think the Rockets over the last month or so,
they've been Kevin Durant or bus.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
So I think if I'm the Nuggets.
Speaker 4 (31:18):
I want to go probably against the Rockets, but I
don't believe in the Timberwolves either, even though I like
the Timberwolves Lakers possible matchup, because I think that they
could beat the Lakers. I've seen them do it back
to back years covering them, so but if from the Nuggets, I'd.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Say I probably want the Rockets.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
I would because An could go off and give you
fifty even though I'm not an ant guy and can
still one on the road, and stat.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
Kind he could get one on the road.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
You know.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
A couple of weeks ago, I did the show with
Ryan Hollins, as you know, as part of the Rockets
broadcast team, and I asked them about Kevin Durant because
as great as player as Durant is, no one's denying
in his greatness as a player. Just he is he
a guy that again inspires others to fall.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
Is he a leader in a leader way?
Speaker 6 (32:09):
Right?
Speaker 2 (32:09):
You know that That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
I'm not talking about can he play the game at
a high level, obviously he can. I'm talking about raising
the level of other players.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
On his team. Is he that kind of guy as well?
Speaker 1 (32:20):
And Ryan's response was, he may be a little more
so than you think. He's not a holler guy. He's
not one of those guys. You know, Kobe was this way, right.
I mean, Kobe was not a locker room holler guy.
You know that he was had d fish with sort
of that locker room guy to you know, address a
lot of things in that lockerow exactly. And when you
(32:41):
look at Paalgasol was the prime example who really followed
the lead of Kobe Bryant to take his game to
that next level, to a championship level. So you know,
I agree with you about Aunt. Aunt certainly is capable
of just going off and taking over games, and more
so I thing at this point of his career as
a young player, than Durant is. But you know, I
(33:05):
think Kevin Durant's got something to prove, doesn't. You know,
we'll think about it. He left Golden State, right, He
goes to the Nets, didn't really work there. He goes
to Phoenix, didn't really go there. It's not a terrible
Rockets team. They're not a superstar studed team. But he
needs to make a run with a team other than
a team where he's piggybacking off of you know, you know,
(33:28):
Steph Curran company. I mean it's like he needs to
make a run here with some other team. I don't
know if it's the Rockets, they can do it, but
I think this is an interesting Rockets team going into
this postseason. I give you a Kevin Durant hot take
that I guarantee no one listening or in his studio
right now has ever heard before.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
If not for the years at Golden State, Kevin Durant
is James Harden and that's how I view him. And
I love Kevin, I do, but if not for the
Golden State, Kevin Durant James harden man. So for you
to think at this point in his career that he
how many times could we kept saying that about James Harden?
Speaker 1 (34:08):
How many times guys did we really look at go
you know what, He's got something to prove.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
This could be the James.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
Harden This could I mean, look, we keep saying it
since he left Golden State. We keep saying it.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Kyrie steps on Giannis's foot in Game three and they're
beating the Bucks ass in that series. They are running
through the Bucks and they're up eighteen in that game.
Kyrie steps on his ankle. You know, Kevin Durant shoe
size is half a size too big. And overtime, I mean,
you have these things happening. Then come on, why didn't
Phoenix work out? You're with Devin Booker. That guy's got
a seventy point game. Everybody loves Devin Booker. I wanted
(34:43):
them in Detroit the last offseason, but you couldn't get
it done there.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
And now we're back to Houston and we're saying the
same stuff.
Speaker 4 (34:48):
Steve he's got something new proof so I'm like, ah, but.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Does he well, I mean prove it right, does he?
But can he do it? By the way, and Swatchwan's happening.
Scotti Scheffler just birdied the third so he is at
June there on the day. And McElroy settled for par
in the first hole. Cameron Young scrambled for par on
the first hole, so three way tie with Burns at
the top of Scheffler.
Speaker 4 (35:12):
Now just doo shots back.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
And by the way, McElroy on his t shot on
the par five second, just put it in the trap
so he doesn't look strong out of the box. And
Scotty Scheffler is on fire right now we go all right,
coming up on the other side, we'll take a look
at the wild wild East in the NBA. We always
seem to focus in on the West, but the East
has got a lot of things going on as well.
(35:37):
This is Fox Sports Sunday, Harvin Husky, Fox Sports Sunday

(35:57):
Radio wherever you get your podcasting to find today full
show posted right after we get off the air. Curse
we got happening's going on at the Masters. Sam Burns,
who was at ten under at the start of the day,
one shot the lead berdie the first hole to grab
a share of the lead and then promptly double bogie
(36:17):
seven on the par five seconds, so he drops back
to nine under par Cam Young Roy McElroy the sole
leaders at eleven under. They are both now at the
second hole. All right, so we have updates on that.
But also we are talking about the final day of
the NBA regular season, talking about playoff positioning and Obviously,
(36:38):
to me, the big story in the NBA this year
has been the Detroit Pistons. I mean, this is a
team that won fourteen games three years ago, two years ago,
two years ago, fourteen and sixty eight, that's right, and
here they are.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
They're going to be the number one seed in the East.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
Kate Cunningham is back time to, you know, get to
that sixty five game threshold. So as greatest season as
he has had, he'll get zero MVP votes, zero all
NBA votes. You won't see his name anywhere, which again
is absolutely absurd and ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
But that's being said.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
The Celtics onces able to get Jason Tatum back in
the line up. Uh and Jyalen Brown, by the way,
definitely deserves consideration for m v P. I do believe
he'll finish top five in the MVP vote, especially since
Luka Dancic is not eligible for that award. Are you
still confident in your pistons? I say your pistons. This
(37:32):
makes uh the blood boil. How could they be your
pistons when they're his piston pistons.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
I'm older, I've been I've been with him longer. They're
my Pistons.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
Is that true, Chris? Have you been with the Pistons?
He's not paying attention to That's all good, And I
know Christmas the Pistons got Chris is a big Detroit guy,
did great work for Detroit.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Sports, that get all that. But when it comes to
the Pistons, I'm I've been with him longer. He's my
damn pist That because you're older, well that counts.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
Okay, it doesn't, all right?
Speaker 1 (38:03):
So both of you guys, are you confident that if
it does count? I mean, let's take the Celtics out
of the mix. Is there the Knicks, Calves? Do you
see any kind of threat that can derail the Pistons
coming up in the Eastern Conference finals? Knicks Calves? You
(38:24):
know one of those teams bother you Chris, Chris, I'm
trying to ignore him right now. I'm trying to get
to the answer.
Speaker 5 (38:31):
I so I I I do worry about the Celtics,
but I know they're not part of this. I I
would worry a little bit about maybe the I don't
know how to feel. You're gonna have to You're gonna
have to play who the Hawks?
Speaker 3 (38:44):
Calves?
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Do you think the Hawks are gonna beat the Calves
in the series. No, no, and then you're gonna play
the Calves. That's what you're looking at. It's gonna be
Nick Celtics, Calves, Pistons.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
Listen, Pistons Celtics Eastern Conference Finals, permanent marker it down.
Stop playing around. There's no going to be no upsets.
Look what the pisses have done this year.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
Why are you dismissing the Knicks because we've.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
Been dog They saw, We've been dog walking the Knicks
all year long. The Nickabocas ain't gonna do nothing.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
But by the way, here here's a question for you.
You know which player in this league has the most
double doubles? Dirt?
Speaker 6 (39:17):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (39:17):
My guys, my god, jaaln Dirt?
Speaker 6 (39:18):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (39:19):
Dirt?
Speaker 1 (39:19):
Who is it?
Speaker 7 (39:20):
Carl?
Speaker 1 (39:20):
So you would think like Yokich because he has so
many triple doubles, right, who is it? He actually has
the second most double doubles, the most double doubles in
the NBA this year, Carl Anthony Towns Marshmellow as as
my friends like to say, number one.
Speaker 4 (39:36):
Anyway, Marshmellow just he's solf, he's saft, he been soft
and I'm trying to rob Yes, double Carl Anthony town I.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
Don't care about double doubles. Carl Anthony Towns messed his
own game up. He wants to shoot.
Speaker 4 (39:47):
Threes instead of taking his ass in the paint.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
If Carl Anthony Towns actually did what shot criticizes him,
he would be a much better player because who could
guard him.
Speaker 4 (39:57):
He's not just tall, He's a big, wide guy.
Speaker 5 (40:00):
To the point of Steve's love of stats, Steve, do
you know we had the first game with three players
with triple doubles in NBA history?
Speaker 2 (40:06):
I did not know that. Do you know what game
that was?
Speaker 1 (40:08):
I have no idea. That was the Utah Jazz against
the Memphis Grizzlies. Okay, do those teams even exist?
Speaker 4 (40:15):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (40:16):
They I'm just saying, you're your love of talking about
triple doubles here when a players actually one of them.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
Had see ouldle give me a second? Are you actually
are you? Are you trying to make an argument?
Speaker 6 (40:30):
This?
Speaker 4 (40:30):
Can we this top aout hour.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
Saying that Carl Anthony town is going to dominate whoever
he plays.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
The kissing Death there?
Speaker 2 (40:35):
Okays as fuck Sunday, all right?
Speaker 1 (40:40):
Having plenty of fun here on a Uh well, fine,
Round Sunday is what we're calling it here Fox Sports Sunday.
We're in the Fox Sports radio studios and we are
finding watching the final round of the Masters. Cameron Young
just birdied the second hole. McElroy missed his birdie pod.
So Cam Young now with a one one shot lead
(41:01):
over McElroy twelve under, eleven under. Scottie Scheffler two under
on the days at minus nine. Shane Lally, who is
even on the day, is at minus nine, and so
we're gonna keep an eye on the lead aboard here
a lot of guys at minus eight. Sam Burns after
burning the first hole, double bogie bogie. That's not a
good start for him.
Speaker 2 (41:19):
I told you one guy would fall apart.
Speaker 4 (41:21):
It's not a good Stevy.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
One guy would fall apart.
Speaker 4 (41:24):
By the way.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
Guy coming up a little bit later, Matsieyama four under
on the day. A little too little too late. Yeah,
right now, you're just the guys at eight are still
in the mix. Don't no doubt about that. If you're
not in the top nine. Now there's nine golfers left
they can possibly win this thing.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
We're down to nine.
Speaker 4 (41:42):
Sorry, just really fast on this t shot on the
third for young eighth, smacks into the trees and bounces
back out to the middle of the fairway and then
rows for another forty fifty yards.
Speaker 2 (41:53):
Talk about luck on your side today.
Speaker 1 (41:55):
So far, well, so far, and well that's see. The
interesting thing about are the third hole. It's a drivable
par four. Yeah, yesterday Roy did drive the green and
then two putted for a birdie. So again we're gonna
keep our eye on what's going on at the Masters.
We're also talking about the final day of the NBA
regular season, all right, So we were talking about the
(42:19):
East on the other side, let's get back to the
West for a moment here, guys and talk about Oklahoma City,
the Thunder defending NBA champions.
Speaker 4 (42:27):
And by the way, all this.
Speaker 1 (42:29):
Noise about who's gonna win the MVP Award, it's not
even going to be close. No, Shay Gildess, Alexander will
win his second straight MVP and it's not even going
to be closed.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
Can I bring in a man that is.
Speaker 1 (42:44):
So fiercely loyal to his beloved Lakers and Luka Doncic,
can we bring him on right now?
Speaker 2 (42:52):
Did you use loyal adjective?
Speaker 1 (42:55):
Use? Yeah? Yeah, he is a bo Is of course,
our esteam producer. Bo It's great AVI here on Sundays
by by Steve. It was great to.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
See you, Jay.
Speaker 1 (43:03):
Yeah. So uh big this uh the sixty four game
rule that has expelled Luca from the consideration for MVP.
Let's say that they they won't, but let's just say
they did send the penalty and they said, all right,
he can be voted on. Right now, who would your
(43:23):
what would your ballot be one, two three for MVP
this year in.
Speaker 3 (43:27):
The NBA Shay Luca Jokic, So you.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
Would have Shae first. Yeah, okay, Shay Luca Jokic.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
Yeah, you don't have Motorcade in your top three.
Speaker 3 (43:37):
Uh, he's right there at four.
Speaker 1 (43:39):
Okay, how about you, Chris, What do you got your
one two three in terms of NBA MVP, And forget
the sixty four game rule, everyone's eligible.
Speaker 5 (43:52):
I hate to make Shay one, but there's kind of
no arguing against at this point, so I'd say Shay Luca.
I'm blanking on some other names of states besides Kate.
I trust Bow a lot more on NBA, like Yo.
Speaker 2 (44:05):
Kicch Again.
Speaker 1 (44:05):
I mean all right, well, I got to say Okay,
I forget that.
Speaker 5 (44:08):
This is a yeah, I am not I get pay
attention to the regular season the NBA when they're basically
telling me the regular season the NBA doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (44:16):
All right, Well it does matter to some degree, it does. Okay, Well,
here's what I here's what I don't understand again. Jokich
is literally having the best statistical year of his career.
He is going to be the first player ever in
the history of the NBA to lead the NBA in
both rebounding and assist per game. By the way, technically,
back in nineteen sixty eight, Will Chamberlain led the league
(44:39):
in rebounds and assists, but in those days it was
the total, not the average, and Oscar Robertson actually averaged
more assists per game that year, but in those days
they went with the total. It wasn't until nineteen seventy
that they changed it to per game, So technically Wilt
was given credit for leading the league in assists sixty eight.
(45:00):
Of course rebounds as well, but as far as per game,
Jokich will be the first guy to do in an
NBA history.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
So if we're talking about a.
Speaker 1 (45:06):
Guy who literally has had the best statistical I mean
the stat about triple doubles. I believe he has thirty
eight this year. Nobody has more than thirteen.
Speaker 4 (45:17):
I am.
Speaker 1 (45:17):
By the way, Denver is sitting here on an eleven
game winning streak right now to close out the season.
So how is Jokicic not the most valuable player?
Speaker 4 (45:24):
Well, that's because Shay is having a actual better year
than he had last year.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
If you go back and.
Speaker 4 (45:31):
You look at his PR, you look at his usage rate,
you look at his plus minus, I mean almost everything
he's doing, and listen, I think he's a severely overrated player.
I put him in a category of Jalen Bronson. They're
guys that circumvent the game. I hate the hooking of
defenders and then go on to fly. I can't stand
that type of basketball. But I don't make the game.
(45:51):
I don't officiate the game. I'm not a commissioner. I
don't got nothing to do with the NBA. But covering
the league. That's all I do. And talk about it,
but I can't stand it. But it is what it is.
So we're gonna deal with what's right there, and what's
right there is he's having actual a better year than
he did last year. I don't think we can give
MVP to a guy because he does something in a
statistical year that had never been done before. I just
(46:14):
don't think that that's the way to go because if
that's the fact, we'd have done this before. And also too,
I'm also trying to figure out why Victor name is
not being considered more because last time I checked, last
person win MVP Defensive Player of the Year because he's
gonna win Defensive Player to the Year going away, But the
last person.
Speaker 1 (46:30):
To do that was Michael Jeordane. Okay, let's talk about
Wemby for a second. Ere I was, I filled in
and did a show the other day with my buddy
Matt Muney Smith over there at five seventy and he was,
you know, this argument about face of the league or
you know, who's the one players.
Speaker 3 (46:49):
Said one MVP and defensive place.
Speaker 2 (46:51):
Okay, you're right. Oh what year was that? I missed that?
Speaker 3 (46:53):
I'm sorry, nineteen o.
Speaker 6 (46:55):
Thank you?
Speaker 1 (46:55):
Take you look all right?
Speaker 2 (46:56):
So not Lucas called you Luca.
Speaker 4 (46:59):
I'll take that's what it takes.
Speaker 1 (47:01):
Thank you. Both had his bank account. But if you have,
if you if you look at Wimby, he's such an
anomaly because of his unique physical stature.
Speaker 2 (47:12):
To me, he's not relatable, is he?
Speaker 1 (47:15):
If we've talked about this before, Guys, who's the one
guy that you would pay to see, like, you know,
really pay to see. And more people will say Wimby
than anyone else because there's literally.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
No one like him, Unicorn.
Speaker 1 (47:26):
He's exactly, there's no one like him. But he's not relatable.
Why not, though, Because he's seven foot five that is
not relatable, was not relatable, and he was never the
face of the n b A he wasn't.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
Well, okay, was Bill Russell the face of the NBA?
He was seventy one. Bill Russell was six nine.
Speaker 1 (47:46):
Oh sorry, I'm sorry. I thought he was a seven
foot him. Yeah, and was six six, right, yeah, standing
eye to eye with Michael Little tall Joe, it was
six nine, that's all.
Speaker 4 (47:57):
Yeah, hold on, But I just wanted to go back
to the relatable. I don't think. I don't think measurables
have anything to do with relatability. I think Victor, we
just sat here and praised him for the way he
actually went at the All Star Game.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
We've praised this guy all year long.
Speaker 4 (48:11):
I know I got people I see people people texting me,
or I see people on their podcast their platforms always
doing too much talking. He's doing Okay, what do you want?
Do you want guys to talk and be confident or
don't you This is where I kind of get mad
at the industry because if we want people like an
Ant talks but so many people love it. Right, But
how was Ant more relatable than Victor? Victor's more relatable
(48:32):
to me because you could tell the man like he
actually has a competitive spirit in him.
Speaker 1 (48:37):
He hustles, he works hard, he plays hard, he wants
to play as many games, probably as possible.
Speaker 4 (48:42):
I'm not sure why this low management thing seek to him.
He had a little banged up, but dude, you can
you can go.
Speaker 1 (48:47):
This is the argument against him is he's averaged less
than thirty minutes a game. That's because they're always blowing
people out. And look at the numbers that he's putting
up in that time among the top twenty five scorers,
the fewest men per game. So think about it, fewest
minutes per game and I'm still a top twenty five
score in the NBA and I'm still gonna win Defensive Player.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
Of the Year.
Speaker 1 (49:07):
You have twenty nine minutes a game, and you're the
most valuable player in the I said defensive player of
the Year, and I think he should get some MVP considerations.
Speaker 2 (49:14):
Think about what you're saying. Twenty nine minutes a game,
he's seen time by still and.
Speaker 4 (49:19):
I'm still dropping twenty five points a night. I'm the
best defender in the league. I'm the best rent protected
in the league. And guess what, I don't even got.
This is equivalent to when I covered kavon On Tibeau
in high school. I covered nine games that year his
senior year at Oaks Christian.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
Yes, you know me.
Speaker 1 (49:35):
Second halves he played four. There was games he'd have
four or five sacks by the end of the first court,
so people would go, why should he win?
Speaker 2 (49:46):
Rory just rolled in a birdie there at numbers three.
Speaker 1 (49:48):
He is now a co leader youngest putting for par now,
so we have a co leader situation of the masters,
three shots clear of everyone else.
Speaker 5 (49:56):
Ry McElroy has just birdied the third hole. How many
second halves toda Ash and gent play at Boise State.
Speaker 1 (50:02):
Well exactly, which is why I voted for him for
the Heisman Trophy.
Speaker 2 (50:05):
But I just said he didn't play a lot, right.
Speaker 4 (50:09):
And look at what he did. You know, I give
you another This.
Speaker 5 (50:12):
Is like, this is like a good case for a
per minute how much you generate.
Speaker 4 (50:16):
Right, That's why I like PERR, That's why light PR,
and I like you, and I like plus minus.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
Now I didn't used to like plus minus Chris.
Speaker 4 (50:20):
But if they're gonna do so much load management like this,
you kind of have to put plus minus into it.
But this is also a comparison of Barry Sanders. You
guys see, like the yards he put up in Oklahoma State. Dude,
he was backing up Thrman Thomas. I didn't even have
to play full time and I could still put up
these type of numbers. That's what I'm saying about Vic
Vicks playing twenty nine minutes a night, and look what
he's to imagine if he played thirty six minutes a night,
(50:43):
he'd be averaging thirty two points and fifteen boards.
Speaker 1 (50:46):
So, as far as MVP is concerned, it's shasing this
conversation right now. Why isn't winby the MVP? Two years ago,
this team was twenty two and sixty. Last year they
were thirty four in forty eight, and this year, they
have sixty two wins.
Speaker 4 (51:02):
Why isn't Kay Cunningham. Then they're gonna get their sixtieth
win today. And as you just said, they won fourteen
games two years ago.
Speaker 1 (51:08):
Again Cad, he didn't play enough games. But you said
we were taking that out that quation. Okay, I mean
so then, actually, if you were to talk about it,
most valuable for this season is.
Speaker 2 (51:19):
Kate Cunningham, then the bigger leaps in Shay.
Speaker 1 (51:23):
Or Luke k Cunningham is definitely either Wimby or Kate Cunningham.
Speaker 2 (51:27):
Kay Cunningham, it's Kay Cunningham.
Speaker 1 (51:29):
To me, we're taking all the all, the all, the
CBA Bowl, the sixty five.
Speaker 2 (51:34):
Okay, fine, cool.
Speaker 1 (51:35):
Yeah, but last year the Spurs didn't even make the
play distance did make the playoffs last year.
Speaker 2 (51:40):
Last year season the season.
Speaker 1 (51:41):
They're right now, twenty eight games better than they were
a year ago.
Speaker 4 (51:45):
Kay Cunningham has spur war for his team than Victor does.
Victor has, yes, Victor has Stefan Castle in the perimeter.
Speaker 2 (51:52):
Actually listens to have any other all stars.
Speaker 4 (51:54):
I'm signing. I didn't say all stars. Don't put words
in my mouth. I didn't say all stars. But who's
got okay, who's got more help? Who's got more known help?
Speaker 1 (52:01):
Jalen Dorran was started coming on in the middle of
last year and now has grown this year.
Speaker 4 (52:06):
Going into going into this season, we weren't like, oh,
Jalen Durn's gonna be this this year.
Speaker 1 (52:12):
We're doing this, all right. I'm gonna ask Bo Bo
take Wemby and take Kate Cunningham off the rosters. Who
has a better roster, the Spurs or the Pistons without
their stars.
Speaker 3 (52:27):
I think Spurs. The Spurs roster is better. Spurs, you think, yes,
look at the rosters. I will say all that said, though,
like if we're doing this whole, like if you take
the guy off the team.
Speaker 2 (52:37):
Well that's how you define motion like valuable.
Speaker 3 (52:39):
Yeah, let's take Luca off the Lakers because that team wins.
Speaker 4 (52:43):
Maybe thirty games, maybe thirty games. And I'm with you,
But here's my thing though, with the Luca thing and
why like my top three with Shae was Shae cc
and and and uh and and Joker.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
I have Luca because two games.
Speaker 4 (52:55):
Once again, once again, if you take him off, you
do still have much as I don't, like, you still
have Lebron and you have Austin. You still have those guys.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
But that is always my argument about most valuable players.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
They come off the roster to take them off the rosters.
Speaker 1 (53:09):
If you take off the roster, if you take Kate
Cunningham off the roster, who wins more games?
Speaker 4 (53:14):
But of the Spurs, the Spurs do the Spurs? Do they?
Speaker 1 (53:20):
D Arian Fox, Stefan Castle, Harrison Barnes. Okay, Harris bar Are.
You don't try to play Harrison Barns. It was not
a Carolina thing. Don't try to play Harrison bar I mean,
here's a reason.
Speaker 4 (53:31):
Why Harrison Barns is still in the League's still a
starter in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (53:34):
Guys, Let's not do that.
Speaker 3 (53:35):
What was the Pistons record while Cad was out fourteen wins?
Speaker 4 (53:38):
Yeah, they lost twenty eight games in a row. I
sat right here tonight that they broke No.
Speaker 5 (53:42):
No, this year Kate is like shoe or thirteen and
four is something like record.
Speaker 4 (53:51):
But that's coaching, that's coaching.
Speaker 3 (53:53):
Think that's just the coach.
Speaker 1 (53:54):
Team Again, That's how I'm trying to deliver a accurate
MVP vote. Take them off the team? How did that
teams better team? Justin Rose just got a Birdie get
to nine under par. So we're keeping update on that.
If you do this really quick, if you do do
this NOBO, if you say the Pistons, then you have
to admit that the bigger staff is a better coach
then because he is right, Okay, So then if.
Speaker 4 (54:17):
You take him off the teams, the Pistols might win
more games. But that's coaching in that situation, that's not
the rock.
Speaker 3 (54:23):
Like in this scenario, than Shay can't be the MVP
because without him the thunder probably still win fifty seven
fifty five games.
Speaker 4 (54:32):
I'm not gonna argue that I don't know. I'm not
gonna argue that they still look pretty good without them.
Speaker 1 (54:36):
All right, We'll have more NBA coming up later. Continue
update you on the leaderboard right now, where we have
a tie for the lead right now between Cameron Young
and Roy McClory both at twelve hundred three shots ahead
and got by the way. Russell Henley just birdied again.
He has gotten to nine under par.
Speaker 4 (54:53):
All right.
Speaker 1 (54:54):
Coming up on the other side, we've had an NBA
excuse me, and nc double Men's champion crowned.
Speaker 2 (55:03):
And yes we did. That was on Monday, and uh.
Speaker 1 (55:06):
We'll talk about how that victory by Michigan has changed
the college game forever. This is Fox Sports Sunday, Harman
and Husky Here, Fox Sports Sunday. We're in the Fox
Sports Radio studios.
Speaker 4 (55:24):
All right.
Speaker 1 (55:25):
So our leaders right now are on the fourth hole.
Speaker 2 (55:28):
I believe Rory is.
Speaker 1 (55:31):
Putting for parr I believe right now. Uh so, Cameron
Young is already in staying at twelve under par. Again,
there are three shots ahead of the field right now,
Shufflers at nine under, Roses at nine under, and Henley
is at You know what always bothers me is one
of the balls in your shadow. It's very nerving. And
(55:54):
he missed.
Speaker 2 (55:55):
Told you I'm all the way she's gonna miss it.
Speaker 1 (55:59):
So Rory McElroy with the double bogee Wow, double bogie
for Rory McElroy and Cameron Young now has a two
shot lead at the Masters, trying to become, by the way,
the third consecutive Players Champion to win the Masters. Scheffler
did it two years ago, Rory did. Alasha, you're standing
(56:22):
in your own shadow. I'm telling you that is always
unnerving there, all right, So two shot lead.
Speaker 4 (56:28):
For guess not respond to pressure when other people are
on their game, and today he's got two guys three
really scheffer, Hey young, Yeah, I know, I know, way to.
Speaker 2 (56:40):
Go, all right, I am really I'm really shocked.
Speaker 1 (56:43):
We walk into studio today, we're already like halfway through
our show, and you have not said a word. I
anticipated you would say something about one of the biggest
stories in sports this week.
Speaker 4 (56:55):
Nothing, nothing out of you.
Speaker 1 (56:59):
And you're sitting there and you're like, how have you
not mentioned you? You mentioned.
Speaker 2 (57:08):
The new North Carolina tar Heels head coach?
Speaker 4 (57:12):
How have you not mentioned.
Speaker 2 (57:15):
That the Dever Nuggets ex coach.
Speaker 1 (57:20):
Who hasn't coached at the collegiate level in forever is
now the guy running the North Carolina basketball program. I
wonder where Malone was on their original list, if he
was even on the original list of coaching and apostibilities,
because I.
Speaker 2 (57:35):
Know we never talked.
Speaker 1 (57:36):
The only NBA coach we talked about was Billy Donovan
because oh, I don't know he's.
Speaker 4 (57:40):
In the hallway you had with the job. Well he has.
He has approved a record at the Donovan with the
job by next week.
Speaker 1 (57:47):
Yeah, back to back championships of Florida. You're hiring in
the NBA coach with zero college accolades at all to
be there, it doesn't matter. So you're believing that Malone
is the guy that's going to duplicate Roy Williams, Dean Smith,
and the great coaches in North Carolina history. I'll tell
you this, and let's just be honest. Okay, no one
(58:10):
knew Malone was on the list. Okay, we get that. No,
but but if you redid all the college hires and
fires over the last three weeks, three weeks to a month,
let's say, yeah, where would you rank him on the list?
If he was at the beginning of searches for all
schools on the list, where would you have him?
Speaker 4 (58:29):
And that's the rhetorical question, because I want to go
back to Michigan.
Speaker 1 (58:32):
I wouldn't have had him on the list.
Speaker 4 (58:34):
I want to go back to Michigan because Michigan so
called missed out on all these coaches that made all
these moves and ended up and we all sat here
in the greets and don't backtrack out of it now
that they might have ended up with the best actual
candidate of all the Because you all hate Lanes, let's
(58:54):
not act like you got like Lanelane. You guys all
hate Lane, but I think I don't got a problem
with him.
Speaker 2 (58:59):
You guys all hate Lane.
Speaker 4 (59:00):
But if you redid the list at the beginning of
when every coach was available, you guys all would have
had coach Willingham near the top of that list.
Speaker 1 (59:10):
Michigan somehow, Yes, it was luck. Yes, they swept in
on the back end and had to fire their coach.
But saying with Carolina, I know they had to fire
their coach. It's one of the great college coaches of all.
That's not the point I'm making though, But I'm making
it because Michael Malone is not a college doesn't matter. No,
he's a basketball coach. You're right, he's not a college coach.
(59:30):
He's a basketball coach.
Speaker 4 (59:32):
Is a college basketball ain't regular college basketball. Michigan just
showed us that. I don't want to spoil your teams
from last time. But I guess we're leading there, we're
here now. We might as well go ahead and have
an our dirb, get a drink and join the party.
They they didn't think about that roster this year. All
five starters. All five starters. Yes, transfirst, which means which
(59:58):
you probably gotta be more.
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
Michigan Raid four and one.
Speaker 4 (01:00:05):
Hey, ay champ, big ten money, baby, big ten money.
That's why nil Michigan money. Well, true, there's some other
schools that's got some money to Indiana who's just won
the national championship, and it's because they had they had
they had.
Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
Some money to bring in some players and bring in
the coach.
Speaker 1 (01:00:19):
They spent. They spent some Brad too. By the way,
I know that Lindenborg was not healthy. This guy's twenty
four years old. College basketball now, man, that's college basketball now.
Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
I don't know if you saw this.
Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
Coach K was doing a pregame interview before the championship game,
and you know it's well documented. I'm not a big
coach K guy, but he said something that made a
lot of sense. Okay, So he was being asked specifically
he was being interviewed. I believe Jim Nantz was doing
the interview, even though he doesn't do the games. I
don't know who's doing the interview. Anyway, he was being
(01:00:55):
asked about the transfer portal. He was talking about nil money.
You know, would you do things to change that? He goes, no,
but I would change the age rule.
Speaker 2 (01:01:06):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
He said, there's got to be an age limit. You
can't have twenty four to twenty five year old six
year guys still playing in the college game.
Speaker 2 (01:01:15):
Get out of the game and get into the pro rank.
Why not.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
Oh that's right, you're in the pro ranks in the
college thank you. So you can't call that shot no more.
I want to get back to Mike Malone. I want
to get back to Malone, though, I want to get
back to the new tar Hill coach you talk about
it is I have a college experience. You're one hundred
percent right. That's why you're in the Hall of Fame.
You're one hundred percent correct. But he's got basketball experience.
And I've used the Michigan term. I'm watching these teams.
We talked about this last week, Steve. I'm watching these
(01:01:40):
teams get introduced in the final four. How many of
you hear from? And they don't say another They don't
say in American city, they say a country. Did this
man not coach Jokic. You don't think he's got international connections.
You don't think he's got internet. This is the way
you guys just all saw with Michigan. This is the wave. Now, guys,
you don't just have to hit a portal for American
(01:02:02):
college basketball players. You can hit the portal in nil
and go over SAZ now. But here's the thing. And
a twenty year old who's been playing pro since he
was fourteen years old.
Speaker 1 (01:02:13):
Okay, but here's the thing, Dusty May. I mean, we
can talk about Michigan buying the talent to put together
a championship game. You still got a coach, you still
got to coach him, and and you're coaching college plays.
Speaker 4 (01:02:25):
Malone not a good coach at the NBA level, and
the chances just basketball, just a basket.
Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
Let's come on, come on, does this new basketball?
Speaker 1 (01:02:32):
Or get forget that the college game is different. I'm sorry,
it's different. There's a reason why so many great college
coaches have dipped their toes into the NBA and failed.
Speaker 4 (01:02:42):
But this is not what this is the greatest college
NBA coach getting his toes into the college game.
Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
And give me an example of where that's been successful.
Speaker 4 (01:02:53):
Listen, listen, I don't have the answer or is without
without them having college experience first, cause we've seen college
coaches go to the end, didn't have to go back.
Speaker 1 (01:03:01):
Give me in a successful NBA coach and went to.
Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
I'm sorry, he's always the first time for everything. Well,
it's a first time for everything.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
But you didn't answer my question, though, can't he coach
basketball or not?
Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
Steve yes or not?
Speaker 7 (01:03:11):
A coach?
Speaker 1 (01:03:11):
You can coach NBA basketball.
Speaker 4 (01:03:14):
I didn't ask NBA can he coach? The basketball? Is basketball?
It is not, Yes, it is the college You've been
watching the college game. It's not a different. Basketball is bad. No,
it's different because of the different levels. But basketball is bad.
Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
Wait to say no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (01:03:28):
We talked about this specifically about the impact of the
coaches at the collegiate level, that they are the stars
they are coaching. At the college level, teams take on
the person, and the NBA players coach themselves. NBA coaches
are interchangeable.
Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
What's different about the college game of NBA? Just give
me that example.
Speaker 5 (01:03:47):
Everything I I if I may throw out some names,
because I do have a list of names of some
guys who've gone from NBA to college. Larry Brown's on there.
He had that run at SMU that was very good.
Fred Hoiberg, you said it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:02):
Was a slow down a second here, but he called
wonder last week if you're gonna go Larry Brown. But
that's not the example. He went from the Denver Nuggets
to u c l A, went back to the NBA,
went to Kansas, won a national championship.
Speaker 5 (01:04:15):
He didn't do jack with us at the late end
of his career. Tino also like we can take him
up at like Jerry List Jerry Cherry Tarcadian coached twenty
games with the Spurs.
Speaker 1 (01:04:26):
Stop it, Okay, is still there an only the only example,
and I was waiting, was Larry Brown. Larry Brown is
the only guy that actually had success at the NBA
level without any college experience. Went to u c l A,
guided them to a championship game, went back to the NBA,
went back to Kansas, won a national championship.
Speaker 4 (01:04:49):
He's the only You love Malone. Just last year when
we talked about coaching vacancies, you loved Malone.
Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
Now all of a sudden, you don't you.
Speaker 4 (01:05:00):
I don't think he could go coach where to research.
Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
I'm not going to sit here and try to explain
all day the difference in the college game in the NBA.
Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
All right, basketball ball to me.
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
Let's find out what's trendy right now, Okay, Monci, would
you would you think that there is a difference in
college basketball and NBA basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Is there a difference.
Speaker 6 (01:05:22):
There?
Speaker 8 (01:05:23):
There obviously is because you see the coaches stick to
one or the other. But I also agree with DJ
basketball is basketball.
Speaker 1 (01:05:33):
Basketball is back.
Speaker 7 (01:05:34):
But there is a difference.
Speaker 8 (01:05:35):
I don't I couldn't pinpoint it, but there is because
those coaches tend to stay on one side of the other,
you know what I mean. Like you'll see crossovers, but
hardly ever is there success. So there is something different,
but I don't know what it is.
Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
Well, think about this. North Carolina football decided to go
with the pro coach. How that worked last year? Yeah,
so now they're doing it on the basketball. So Belichick
was a catastrophe the first year, and we'll show that.
Speaker 4 (01:06:01):
Went though you're not telling the whole context of the story.
He has the flip over an entire roster, he has
the input his program. Let's not do it like that.
You know what, this a football's football.
Speaker 1 (01:06:11):
When you go from the pro.
Speaker 4 (01:06:14):
The only difference when you ask, hey, what was the
difference in the college game last year?
Speaker 1 (01:06:17):
What did they say?
Speaker 2 (01:06:17):
Monster the speed of the game.
Speaker 4 (01:06:20):
They say the speed of the game. Right, it's still
blocking it's still catching, it's still high king, it's still
getting into three point stands, it's still press coverage. It's
you don't coach it differently. You coach press coverage.
Speaker 1 (01:06:30):
In high school the same way you coach press coverage
in the end of it. Because it's about a fundamental
basis football football just like basketball and basketball. Dribble pass
ball goes in basket.
Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
I'm not going to I would say.
Speaker 8 (01:06:43):
I would say that basketball, that the differences is bigger
actually in football, bej.
Speaker 7 (01:06:47):
I think they.
Speaker 8 (01:06:48):
I feel like with college football they try to keep
it simple and so I feel.
Speaker 7 (01:06:52):
Like in the NFL it's way more common. It is
like it is, but you know what I'm saying, But I.
Speaker 8 (01:06:58):
Feel like the sport itself would be more are relatable
from basketball and college to the to the.
Speaker 2 (01:07:04):
I get part of it, because, yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:07:07):
There's different.
Speaker 1 (01:07:08):
It's different professional players versus college level players. It's different,
and just the difference between being a teacher in high
school and a teacher in elementary.
Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
Brothers Now, he better hope, You better hope. Malone never
ever ever hangs a banner in the Dean Dome. He
bet our home, He better hope and pray he'll never happen.
He'll be gone and he'll.
Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
Never he'll never end there, He'll never hear to end up.
Speaker 4 (01:07:33):
If you will be gone four years? Okay, Mark my.
Speaker 7 (01:07:38):
I'm gonna put this up. Put it. Put an alarm
on our phones, guys, for y for today.
Speaker 1 (01:07:42):
See what happens.
Speaker 2 (01:07:43):
Roy mclroy's gone.
Speaker 7 (01:07:45):
Yes, stop, don't say that. Why are you saying that? Yes,
he is in trouble.
Speaker 8 (01:07:51):
He is one over through four holes on this final round,
but he is only two shots back of the top
of the leader board, which is Cameron Young twelve under
on the day, but Russell Henley, Henley and McElroy are
two shots back. Scotty Scheffler Justin Rose are three shots back.
Speaker 7 (01:08:07):
They're at nine hunder par. But it's not looking great.
Speaker 8 (01:08:11):
Yes for Rory McElroy, but two shots back through four holes.
Speaker 7 (01:08:16):
So we'll see what happens.
Speaker 8 (01:08:17):
When it comes to baseball, Trey Turner has hit his
first home run of this season. Phillies now lead the
Diamondbacks three to two, top of the seventh inning, twins
over the Blue Jays eight to one. Bottom of the
sixth inning, about to start, Angels shutting off the Red
seven zero top of the seventh inning. There, Tiger's lead
the Marlins seven to one. Bottom of the seventh. In Detroit,
the Yankees on the scoreboard, but the race still lead
(01:08:38):
three to two. Bottom of the seventh. Brewers have taken
the lead from the Nationals three to two. Bottom of
the sixth. There, the Red Sox lead the Cardinals seven
to one. Top of the fifth inning, but Saint Louis
Is Jordan Walker. He hit his major league leading seventh
home run of the season, but again they're losing seven
to one.
Speaker 7 (01:08:54):
Top of the fifth inning.
Speaker 8 (01:08:55):
Cubs on the scoreboard, but the Pirates still lead six
to one bottom of the fifth inning. About to start.
NHL playoffs are starting soon. The only one that has
a clinching scenario today in the NHL.
Speaker 7 (01:09:04):
Or the Ducks.
Speaker 8 (01:09:05):
If the Ducks win, they're in and they're hosting the
Connects with the puck dropping at a PM Eastern time.
Capitals in the Islanders are trying to keep their hopes
alive with wins, but the only clinching scenario would be
the Ducks. We've got NASCAR going on the Food City
five hundred Kyle Larson. It's still in the first stage,
but Kyle Larson is in the lead after twenty five laps,
(01:09:25):
and you can catch all the action on FS one.
Speaker 7 (01:09:28):
Back to you guys, all right, thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (01:09:31):
M s.
Speaker 4 (01:09:32):
Also, if the ducks one today, you get a free
sausage and egg and cheesement grew up McDonald's tomorrow. Oh really, yes, ma'am.
Speaker 7 (01:09:37):
That's good. That's good information that listeners should know.
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
I get a free group.
Speaker 7 (01:09:41):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (01:09:42):
All right, I'm watching right now if Rory McRoy can
get anything going in the answer is no.
Speaker 2 (01:09:47):
He just missed the birdie putt.
Speaker 1 (01:09:48):
Was a tough part, but you got to get some
fire going here at some point, and he just is.
Speaker 4 (01:09:52):
Not doing it.
Speaker 1 (01:09:53):
So right now it looks like unless he unravels, and
that is a very real possibility.
Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
Cameron Young is in control right now.
Speaker 1 (01:10:02):
He's got a two shot leaves, coming off a winner
at the Players Championship. He has played well in majors.
He's just had a difficult closing the deal. But this
guy that shot opening seventy three could very well don
a green jacket by day's end. Steve, you're by far.
Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
The most golf if it's sha Fiana Ohio.
Speaker 1 (01:10:21):
No blue at word that I know, if you're Cameron
Young right now, what are you thinking.
Speaker 4 (01:10:27):
He playing?
Speaker 1 (01:10:28):
I'm thinking if I'm Cameron Young, i am playing a
very conservative game.
Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
You know what you do.
Speaker 1 (01:10:34):
People will say this that playing Augusta National is complicated
if you make it complicated.
Speaker 2 (01:10:40):
If you if you get out of.
Speaker 1 (01:10:42):
The comfort zone, shoot for the middle of the greens,
play well on the par fives.
Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
That's all you have to do.
Speaker 1 (01:10:50):
Shoot for the because if you shoot for the middle
of the greens, you might have a lengthy plot for birdie.
But if you're a good lag putter and can get
yourself to make makeable par putts, that's the formula success.
Where everyone gets into trouble on this course is when
they try to get out of the their elements, shoot
for flags that are not attainable, and they get themselves
(01:11:13):
in trouble. We'll see Young with the putt right here.
And this is why I'm asking this question because if
I'm Young, he's.
Speaker 4 (01:11:18):
Playing with them. You're right there. You hear the chatter
as the putt is good.
Speaker 2 (01:11:24):
So he just birdied five.
Speaker 4 (01:11:26):
So oh no, that was a part.
Speaker 1 (01:11:29):
See now, that is a phenomenal par saving putt by
Cameron Young. There all right, So he shill has a
two shot lid.
Speaker 4 (01:11:36):
But if I'm him, you're playing with him right. You
hear the chatter, you hear, you feel the energy.
Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
That's why I ask the question. Could agree with you.
Speaker 4 (01:11:41):
If I'm Cameron Young, Okay, we're going to the sixth
hole right now until he makes a great shot, I
am playing as easy golf as I possibly can. And
here comes Justin Rose who just birdie who hit out
of the straw off the tee. Then with wayward law right,
got it on the fairway, gets himself a great birdie
(01:12:04):
putt here to get the ten under.
Speaker 1 (01:12:06):
So now here comes your guy, by the way, If
you're wondering why Tiger Woods, look at this. Remember Tiger Woods.
The first fourteen times that he had the outright or
share the league going into the final round of a major,
he won every single time. It was fourteen to fourteen.
Was that because of spectator? I mean, we remember a
few spectacular shots along the way, but that wasn't why
(01:12:28):
Tiger won those. He played conservative. He understood how to
hang on to a league, just like Jack Nicholas did.
These two were masters now, they were the two greatest
clutch putters of all time.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
I mean, when you really need to make a putt.
Speaker 1 (01:12:46):
Tom Watson was another guy like that. You play a
conservative game, don't lose it, you know, don't lose it,
hold it together. You know, the ball come bounds a
lot of different ways. That's why those guys won so
many majors over the years. So that's my advice to
Cameron Young. That was a huge par saving put there
at number five. So he still has a two shot
lead andros is now tied with McElroy and Russell Henley.
(01:13:09):
By the way, it's four under on the day, all
at ten under. Paul also with Tiger that last day
except for Pebble Beach US Open Air, he just decided
that was yesterday, by the hole in one yesterday.
Speaker 2 (01:13:21):
Yeah, Shaye Lowry. By the way, it's three over on
the day.
Speaker 4 (01:13:24):
But that year Pebble Beach at us Oport Tiger Woods decided, Okay,
I'm not playing conservative. I'm just gonna beat the bleep
pets right and blow you all away.
Speaker 2 (01:13:34):
Keep it going.
Speaker 1 (01:13:34):
Yeah. So anyway, that's that's going to be the formulas success.
Can't wait for the rest of this out there, all right, Uh,
there comes to the field, There comes to the field
man McElroy, Rose, Henley Scheffler.
Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
Here we are all.
Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
Right, coming up on the other side. I want to
switch gears because I'm going to turn to a different sport.
We talked about the final day of the NBA regular season.
We've been talking about the college game. Congratulations both the
UCLA women and the Michigan men for winning national champion.
We're talking about the Masters right now. But there's another
sport that is also at the crossroads. What is it?
(01:14:07):
You'll find out This is Fox Sports Sunday, Harvin Husky,
Fox Sports Sunday and the Fox Sports Radio studios. With
the iHeartRadio app, you can stream us wherever you happen
to be. Catch us in all of our Fox Sports
Radio shows live twenty four to seven in the new
and approved iHeartRadio app. Just search Fox Sports Radio on
the app to stream us live all day, every day,
(01:14:29):
and be sure to select Fox Sports Radio is one
of your presets in the iHeart app, so always pop
up at the top of your screen. All right, Cameron
Young again has a two shot lead right now over
Rory McElroy, Russell Henley, and Justin Rose. Keep our eyes
on the Masters. That's going on right now.
Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
All right, a quick detour.
Speaker 1 (01:14:49):
So we are at the very early start of this
Major League Baseball season. Now you're at the Dodgers game yesterday,
were you in? Yes? Sure it was great seeds, great time.
I had a ball last night. So the Dodger, you know,
the all all the noise before the season, we are
making some of it accurately, is that the Major League
(01:15:09):
Baseball is very much in danger of a complete lockout
at the end of the season, as many of the
owners are making an adamant that they're going to have
to have some kind of salary cap, and the players
are one against that for obvious reasons.
Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
So the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (01:15:26):
The fear here is the Dodgers got so much talent
that they're just going to lap the field. And that's
exactly what's happening the Dodgers. The Dodgers are one of
those teams, and this is rare in sports.
Speaker 4 (01:15:42):
Where your depth is so.
Speaker 1 (01:15:46):
Incredible that you could have players that are not performing
well and there's always somebody that can step up. The
big story for the Dodgers this year is Andy Pajez.
Any pa Hez is the only player in baseball with
a batting average right now of over four hundred. In fact,
if you look at the major league leaders so far,
(01:16:10):
Annie Paz is hitting four forty two. No one else
is hitting better than three eighty five. Oh and by
the way, he's also among the league leaders. In fact,
he is leading the majors majors in RBIs this guy's
batting seventh and they have n't moved him out of
the seventh slot.
Speaker 4 (01:16:30):
Think about that.
Speaker 1 (01:16:32):
You have the hottest hitter in baseball right now, top
batting average, tops an RBS in the entire major league's
highest war by the way, in the major leagues. H
and you don't move them in the lineup. He's sitting
at seven and they just keep them right there. Right
That is the luxury you have if you're the Los
Angeles Dodgers. And what's even more impressed about the Dodgers
(01:16:52):
this year, where the upgrade is really going to be
is that bullpen. So, yeah, Diaz had a meltdown the
other day. Munsey saves them with a third home run,
But Diaz had a meltdown. But you look at you
want to you want a great story this year in baseball?
How about alex Vessia, So Vessia has the same tragedy
where his newborn daughter dies right on the eve of
(01:17:14):
the World Series. He has to set out the World Series.
He and his wife are going through this unimaginable trauma.
Speaker 4 (01:17:22):
He comes back, he's he's an energy guy.
Speaker 1 (01:17:24):
Right well, Alex Vessia closed out the game yesterday. You
know it is era is so far this year that
would be zero points. There's zero, there's zero zero And
just watching he's infectious, man, I mean he's one of
those raw, raw guys. So I just have bad news.
I've I've been asked a few times on shows, can
anybody beat the Dodgers?
Speaker 4 (01:17:44):
I go, yes, oh, and I said the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
Okay, the only thing that they could beat the Dodgers
is a Dodger. And when I say injuries, they remember
they don't right now. You don't have Blake's noew, Mookie's
out for the first month of the season. You don't
have Tommy yet been right now, they have injuries on
this team, it doesn't matter. And we now have Rory
McElroy and bogging another fallowing them apart. Yeah, he is
(01:18:08):
absolutely crumbling. So it looks like Rory mclroy's a whole
back to back Masters is going out the windows. So
he has fallen all the way into a ty with
Scotti Sheffler. Ty with Scotty Scheffler. But right now, Cameron
Young at twelve hundred, Justin Rose and Russell Henley at
ten under now at this point, no knock on Young,
(01:18:30):
but boy, am I I'm hoping for Justin Rose.
Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
What a great story that with the ro and he's coming.
He's right there.
Speaker 4 (01:18:35):
But Young if he now of Young once again, just
play consistent regular golf about the Dodgers really fast though.
It's it's funny because I have this question for you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:18:45):
Last weekend. I made my mind up. I'm not gonna
do it. I'm gonna you know, I'm just gonna enjoy them.
Speaker 4 (01:18:50):
I love the team. I love the way they put together.
But I've been at three Dodger games already this year.
The atmosphere there, man, it's just you can't not have fun. Well,
I'm there, Ranger team in baseball. It's your team, right,
I'm there and Ranger again. I'm Ranger out last night.
But it's all fun in love, man, because I love
to put on the show. I'm an I'm an I'm
an entertainer.
Speaker 1 (01:19:10):
It's what I do.
Speaker 4 (01:19:11):
And but it's it's it's such a dope. It's such
a dope team to watch because, like you said, injuries,
injuries aren't gonna derail this team. And we talked about
this last Injuries are not gonna derod this team. I
sat right here all last year and told you guys
there gonna repeat.
Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
The tail job yesterday.
Speaker 1 (01:19:30):
Tale man, I mean, it's for it's for one. It's
for one. Look Rangers hit the second second pitch, crack.
I just I'm walking in my seat, crack out of
the stadium. I'm like, okay, here we go.
Speaker 7 (01:19:41):
Home run.
Speaker 4 (01:19:42):
That's how the baseball gods are doing VJ.
Speaker 1 (01:19:44):
That's how you guys are doing me.
Speaker 4 (01:19:45):
Give me a whole run, like okay, and then show
and then show Hey and then show Heyley about the
sound of that show, It is the most likely. So
I had great seats on first baseline. I mean I'm
down on lower level right by the club area. If
you guys have been to stadium, you guys know what
I'm talking about. And you can just see the ball
(01:20:06):
pop off his bat. The sound of it I've never
heard live before, but I heard someone described that's what
Bo Jackson sounded like the ball coming.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
Off his bat.
Speaker 4 (01:20:17):
It's and you watch this thing take off and in
your eyes go to the outfielder and he takes maybe
three jock steps and just watches this thing. It's just
he's the greatest player I've ever seen other than King
Griffith Jr.
Speaker 1 (01:20:28):
It's crazy. By the way, he's pitching very well so far,
much more coming up here. This is Fox Sports Sunday,
a very busy Sunday, indeed, final day of the NBA
regular season, Final round of the Masters going on right now.
This is Fox Sports Sunday once again. Be sure to
subscribe to Fox Sports Radio's YouTube channel. Just search Fox
(01:20:48):
Sports Radio on YouTube and you're gonna see our best
videos from all of the shows. Don't stop there. Hit
that thumbs up icon coming away. Let us know whose
takes you like, even those you don't like. Just search
Fox Sports Radio on YouTube and subscribe. What's a getting
our Fox Sports Radio studios? All right, here's an update
right now. What's going on at the Masters. So not
only did McElroy bogie the sixth hole, so did Cameron Young.
(01:21:11):
So he fell back to eleven under par so they
are now playing on the seventh hole and right now
Rory just he had a great second shot right there.
He's in a position to Bertie. But here's where it's
getting interesting. Justin Rose on the eighth hole, which is
a par five, just stuck his third shot short birdie putt.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
If he makes it.
Speaker 1 (01:21:34):
Justin Rose, who's a three time Masters runner up, two
of those losses in a playoff, including last year against
Rory McElroy, will have a share of the lead with
that birdie putt coming up, so keep an eye on that.
And then Russell Henley's been the surprise of the day,
four under on the day through nine holes. He's also
(01:21:55):
at ten under part. Scotty Scheffer obviously very much in
it right now at nine under parts. So this is
going to be a great finish, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (01:22:02):
It's gonna be a tremendous finish. Also on my if
I'm Camra Young right here, like this approach shot, see
those three months, stay away, go long if you've got
to go along, but do not come up short, because
like you said, Rose is hot, I think you got
roaring in your rear view. But Young is also Bogey,
so Young has also dropped the shot too.
Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
So if I'm.
Speaker 4 (01:22:18):
Him now, you might want to if you want to
play at a few more holes, cool, but at some
point you're gonna have to pick it up.
Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
And he when did I tell him not to do?
What did I just say not to do? Okay, so Cameron,
I just hit it in. By the way, this could
be a two shot swing because mclroy's got a makeable
birdie putt here. Justin Rose has officially birdie the eighth hole.
He is now tied for the lead with Cameron Young.
I know, right, I know right, you know, look at
I get this whole thing. There's people screaming at the
(01:22:47):
radio right now, like, guys, we don't care about golf,
yes you do.
Speaker 4 (01:22:51):
Well.
Speaker 1 (01:22:51):
The Masters is a little bit different. Fred Couples made
a comment this week like you have to be an idiot,
that's the word he used, an idiot not to love
Augusta National Because again, what is it that makes sports intriguing?
Speaker 4 (01:23:08):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:23:09):
It's the unexpected, it's offsets, it's greatness. But when the
venue matches that when the venue and this is what
makes Augusta National. When you have a single course for
an event, it's not like the US Open and the
Open Championship of the PGA where they alternate courses, you know,
(01:23:32):
and we could talk about TBC down there Sawgrass and
it's trying to do that obviously with the Players Championship.
It's not that there's nothing like Augustin. Actually there's just
nothing like it. This course never fails ever, and it
can change because again, the weather's been perfect this week
at Augusta, no rain, everything else. The win can come up,
(01:23:52):
the show, the from hold to whole, the dynamic of
this course can change. And you know, the trunk, how
can you not get into Forget the golfers, I get it,
Tiger doesn't play anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:24:03):
Hey, he's gone, he's done.
Speaker 1 (01:24:05):
That doesn't take away from the drama of this event.
Speaker 4 (01:24:08):
Just doesn't feel this year first time in like what
twenty eight years that there hasn't been a Field or
Tiger at the Masters.
Speaker 1 (01:24:13):
In nineteen ninety four when they are both amateurs, by
the way, I mean that's way back in the day.
All right, Right now we're watching Cameron Young hitting his
third shot in this part four and this is this
is going to be brutal.
Speaker 2 (01:24:23):
It is going to be brutal.
Speaker 1 (01:24:24):
Got a question for you stay. Yeah, can we talk
about Augusta, right, it's the only major that's at the
same place every single year. Yes, So I wrote down
two other just dominant, legendary places where great sporting events
take hold and there's always something that happens there, even
though one I'm.
Speaker 4 (01:24:43):
Going to give you it doesn't change. But if you
don't play on that surface a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:24:47):
It can change. Wimbledon And then where do you think
my third is?
Speaker 1 (01:24:51):
I have Augusta, I have Wimbledon in Nope, Daytona, Daytona.
Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
Well, you see see I'm a different genuar.
Speaker 4 (01:24:59):
I got y'all, got you, but Daytona, right, those three
places I don't care. Like you said, just forget the drivers.
Speaker 1 (01:25:07):
If it's hot, if it's sunny, if it rainer, general
human I'm sorry. I still hang on to the Indy
five pound no knock on dayton cars. I've actually been
to dayton for two of those races.
Speaker 4 (01:25:16):
But but when you think about like Daytona, right, it's
that track is gonna have it?
Speaker 1 (01:25:20):
Say the big one's coming, right, Well, exactly, it's the
the event is big. This is this is what we
talk about with the NCAA Basketball Tournament. The March madness
is bigger than any school, any any any player, any
play anything, It doesn't matter. Did you see the numbers
this year for the tournament off the freaking charge? I
(01:25:41):
was essentially an anonymous.
Speaker 4 (01:25:43):
Field of players, right, guys, guys all from the portal,
guys from overseas.
Speaker 1 (01:25:47):
Guy, he didn't watch anybody. There's going to be like
blowing the lid off the NBA. There was not one.
Speaker 4 (01:25:53):
And I told you those freshmen, how many of them
made it to the championship game. All these freshmen that
are gonna change that are gonna change franchises supposedly, I
think some of these kids should go back. I think
I heard from what I don't know if it's a rumor,
but I heard there's some schools flirting around twenty million
dollars the Cameron Boozer.
Speaker 1 (01:26:09):
So when you watch Yukon, Alex Caravan is the is
the perfect college guy. Right. He's not gonna have any
NBA career now, not gonna be any Alex Caravan.
Speaker 4 (01:26:18):
In the NBA.
Speaker 1 (01:26:21):
But he plays for four full years as a starter.
Yukon starts on two national champions and then his fourth.
Here he's a starter on a finalist, right, but it
doesn't matter because the event itself is just bigger than
any of that. I'll give you much madness, but that's
the way the Masters is, you know, And especially since
(01:26:43):
the Masters always follows the end of March madness, it
just it just carries over where you just settle in
on a Sunday, as we're doing right now. And I
know we're doing commentary on a radio show, which is
a big no note, but I'm sorry, we can't do
it anyway. That's what we're watching right now the second
we're off the air. I mean Dan Byer was doing
(01:27:04):
the show earlier with carry right, he wasn't gonna leave
his house then the way dan Byer is settling in
to watch and Rose Wow. So Cameron Young is just
brogied back to back holes at six and seven, and.
Speaker 5 (01:27:21):
Him it was a brutal undershot for him when he
went into the trap to start that whole time.
Speaker 4 (01:27:27):
I want to say go long, rather go long instead
of short, Just go long.
Speaker 2 (01:27:30):
If you're gonna go overybody, you can't land in the
trap there.
Speaker 4 (01:27:32):
Chris always had success out of the trap all but here's.
Speaker 2 (01:27:35):
The thing Rory is now putting for Birdie.
Speaker 1 (01:27:38):
So Rory, this is your opportunity again, a two shot swing.
All of a sudden he could be tied with Cameron Young,
one shot behind Justin Rose and coming up after seven.
Speaker 2 (01:27:51):
Is that par five to eighth hole?
Speaker 4 (01:27:53):
I remember, Scheffler and Hanley are still just kind of
lurking around.
Speaker 1 (01:27:57):
This put to me is whether or not Ry's got
a shot if he can drain this pot, you know,
with you know, then all of a sudden.
Speaker 2 (01:28:06):
Okay, you're you're maybe maybe he's going to miss something.
He's gonna miss it.
Speaker 1 (01:28:10):
Well, he's standing over, he's looking at it over.
Speaker 2 (01:28:12):
He doesn't have.
Speaker 1 (01:28:13):
Confidence in that, he doesn't know what to do with it.
He's gonna miss it, all right. So Scheffler's still at
nine and are very much in it, although after a
hot start he is sort of settled into a Parville.
Speaker 4 (01:28:23):
Yeah. I was gonna say he's having a par party. Yeah,
he's having a serious par party. This is it for
Rory right now.
Speaker 1 (01:28:31):
I's trying to make a putt here on Birdie and
it's looking straight and ah god wow. So Rory McRoy
now is tied with Cameron Young, three way tie for second,
along with Russell Henley one shot behind Justin Rose.
Speaker 4 (01:28:43):
I'm movie for Justin Rose.
Speaker 1 (01:28:45):
I'm really am I would love to see that guy
finally win the Masters.
Speaker 2 (01:28:48):
That would be just would it be his first major?
Speaker 1 (01:28:50):
No? He won the US Open.
Speaker 4 (01:28:52):
Okay, he won a US Open.
Speaker 2 (01:28:54):
You know what's amazing about.
Speaker 3 (01:28:55):
The first major for Cameron Young.
Speaker 2 (01:28:57):
He's like, thank you, thank you, Chris.
Speaker 4 (01:29:00):
But yeah, Justin Rose, I don't remember.
Speaker 1 (01:29:03):
He wondered what he won the US Ope? The yeah,
I believe that was at Oakmond? Wasn't it? Did he
win at Oakmon?
Speaker 2 (01:29:11):
But that was the two oak Bonds last year was
Oakwen was the one.
Speaker 1 (01:29:15):
Yeah. Thing. The thing with.
Speaker 5 (01:29:18):
Hope, the thing we've with Rose, as we've talked about,
is like how many times he's just been the runner up,
especially even last year he was in the playoff with
with Rory and he's been in the playoff before.
Speaker 1 (01:29:27):
He's this he lost to Sergio and the Master's uh
playoff back in the day. All right, so we'll keep
an eye as a guy.
Speaker 2 (01:29:34):
I miss I do.
Speaker 4 (01:29:36):
He was, he was young, he was he was energetic,
he was relatable. I missed Serge. I thought Sergio was
going to be that.
Speaker 1 (01:29:42):
You know the thing about is that when he finally
did win the Masters. You know, after so many near misses,
he had four runner ups in Major, He's finally won
the Masters. It's like he stopped playing and he was
still relatively young. I mean, by the way, he is
the same age exactly as Justin Rose. And yet Rose
is very much in contention all these tournaments, and Sergio
(01:30:03):
has just started playing out the string A big putt
though for Rory McRoy. Do not count him out.
Speaker 4 (01:30:08):
You could tell that I was big for him. Look
at his reaction, Yes, look at his reaction.
Speaker 1 (01:30:12):
Yeah. So they're showing them in Northern Island. They're celebrating. Oh,
it's gonna be a great finish out there.
Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
All right. We will get back to some NBA news again.
Speaker 1 (01:30:20):
Final day of the regular season in the National Basketball Association.
On the other side, I want to get a little
bit into the play in round and whether this has
actually worked for the NBA. The NBA has thrown a
lot of you know what against the wall trying to
get people to get a connection with the NBA, and
(01:30:42):
a lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:30:43):
It is not actually worked.
Speaker 1 (01:30:46):
And also I want to get into, now that we're
well into it, what's happening in Major League Baseball with
a new rule this year that believe it or not
is actually getting some rave reviews.
Speaker 2 (01:30:56):
We got it covered for you.
Speaker 1 (01:30:57):
This is Fox Sports, Harvin Husky, Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:31:02):
We're in the Fox Sports.
Speaker 1 (01:31:03):
Radio studios, all right, So we have an emerging story
here at the Masters. Justin Rose, who lost the playoff
last year to Rory, who lost a playoff in twenty
seventeen to Sergio Garcia, who's had one other runner up
finish at the Masters, now has a two shot lead
(01:31:25):
after birding the ninth hole. He just drilled his drive
on number ten. So Justin Rose now has a two
shot lead at the turn, and we'll see if he
can hang on and don his first green jacket. That
would be a tremendous story. Again, he has a two
shot lead over Cameron Young. Roy McElroy are both one
over on the day. Russell Henley has come out of nowhere.
(01:31:47):
He's four under on the day. Scottie Scheffler is still
in the mix, but just rattling out pars right now,
so we'll keep you updated on that. Steve Rufezk naming
another sport that at forty five, Yes, you could win
the sports biggest because the Green Jacks is the biggest
in golf.
Speaker 2 (01:32:06):
You would agree with that, right that? At the US Open,
which one of.
Speaker 1 (01:32:08):
You is one of those two? Well, I look at
the would you rather have a US Open or a
Green Jacket?
Speaker 2 (01:32:14):
Okay, I've talked to golfers.
Speaker 1 (01:32:16):
I'll give you in an example, right, Billy Casper, hall
of fame golfer, all of the great golfers, two time
US Open champion, and in nineteen seventy he was almost
forty years old and he was in a playoff to
win the Masters. Okay, ironically, he was in the playoff
(01:32:37):
against a guy that he grew up with in San Diego, California,
named Jean Littler, who was also a Hall of Fame golfer.
Speaker 2 (01:32:42):
Of that era.
Speaker 1 (01:32:43):
They were the same age, and they had this one chance.
You knew this was it, Like, this is your one
chance back in the days when they had an eighteen
hole playoff and Casper prevailed.
Speaker 2 (01:32:54):
So I asked Billy.
Speaker 1 (01:32:55):
I got to know Billy pretty well over the years
out of San Diego, and I asked him about being,
you know, let's say a Master champion and you're also
a US Open champion goes.
Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
From a golfer standpoint.
Speaker 1 (01:33:09):
Nothing matches being a Master's champion. I mean, you can
talk about European golfers, you know, the prestige of holdly
clared jug you know like that the PGA Championship actually
has the best field of any of the major champion
But when you talk about becoming a Master's champion when
(01:33:31):
you return, when you think about it, every single living
masters champion, most of which did not even tee it
up for this year's tournament. We're there for the dinner.
The only two that were missing were Tiger and Phil
quick Sid.
Speaker 2 (01:33:46):
I mean, you have.
Speaker 1 (01:33:48):
Tommy Aaron, you have Charles Go guys you don't even
know they're still alive, and they still show up for
that dinner because of the treatment they get. Every single
did show. Hey just hit That's why my face looks
like it looks Are you kidding me?
Speaker 4 (01:34:02):
This guy? He I just watched him dude this last
night in person.
Speaker 1 (01:34:05):
Well, unfortunately this Pitch Texas had a leadoff Homer yesterday.
So for the second consecutive gay show when he gets
in the group forgetting right was nothing you can throw
him that.
Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
He's just not call it the pocket.
Speaker 4 (01:34:17):
Man when he's in his pocket, like that's that's just
And it's the same spot yesterday, the same the same
part of the park, Like, it's that guy. Man, he's
an X men. They made him in a lab somewhere.
He didn't need to test his DNA. I don't think
he's grow no more. One thing about shoe Heytani. When
his career is all said and done.
Speaker 2 (01:34:37):
And that was yesterday, I saw this one.
Speaker 4 (01:34:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:34:39):
When people when people look back on his career in
those first six years of the Angels, they're like, how
could the Angels have show Heyo Tani and Mike Trout
by the way and never even make the playoffs in
those six years.
Speaker 2 (01:34:49):
It just shows you how their front office. I mean
that is really unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (01:34:52):
How could you have this guy in your roster and
not even make the playoffs for six straight years.
Speaker 3 (01:34:57):
Do you think anyone will even remember that he was
on the Angels, Well, he went to MVP Awards.
Speaker 2 (01:35:01):
With the age.
Speaker 4 (01:35:02):
They will because because of the simple fact that he
got he got.
Speaker 2 (01:35:05):
Away from there.
Speaker 3 (01:35:06):
Yeah, and he was.
Speaker 1 (01:35:08):
A Red Sox.
Speaker 4 (01:35:12):
It's about Barry and the Pirates, right, we get a
lot a good compared we get a lot of giant highlights.
But Barry won multiple m vps with the Pirates. It
was a forty forty guy with the Pirate. And by
the way, ay.
Speaker 3 (01:35:24):
Think about this as a pirate just because I remember.
Speaker 1 (01:35:27):
No, no, no, but here's a very name yelling at him
in his last three years of the Pirates m v
P first second, first, and show his last three years
of the Angels first second, first.
Speaker 2 (01:35:37):
It's the same thing. Yeah, it's just.
Speaker 4 (01:35:38):
Exactly will they don't trust me, They'll they'll remember all
right days. Remember they used to have Reggie Jackson before
he became a Yankee.
Speaker 1 (01:35:46):
But anyway, so I I wanted I wanted a couple
of things here. Oh, by the way, since we're talking
a little baseball, the uh the automated strike situation. Like
everyone likes it.
Speaker 2 (01:35:59):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (01:36:00):
You know why they like it? A It doesn't delay
the game very much at all at all. It's insanely accurate,
and it's finally going to get to the point where
we all know it should be eliminate you. Here's the deal.
I've been saying this for twenty years. Okay, I will
concede this. You need to have one umpire on the field.
(01:36:20):
That's all you need. Think about this, and a lot
of baseball they don't have one umpire. You sort of
have a guy that's you know, they're you know a
few things that maybe have to be tied. But as
far as balls and strikes, no, no umpires am anymore
calling balls and strikes not necessary. Can all be done electronically,
And it's on full display right now, and we are
(01:36:41):
going to get there at some point. I saw Brett Boone,
former Major League baseball player. You know, he's old school
and you know, third generation Boone family in Major League baseball,
and he goes, I didn't think I would like it.
I like it, And that's where we should end up being.
That's where we should end up being. I saw three
challenges last night. They all took less than fifteen seconds.
Speaker 4 (01:37:01):
Bo They all took less than The manager points the umpire,
stands up and takes his you know, helmet, takes his
mask off. Everybody looks at the jumbo tarn. They showed
a digital box. They showed a ball coming in. If
the ball's red, it's a strike. If the ball stays green,
it's a ball, and then you move on. I saw
three of them, and I've never seen it live. I said,
oh wow, the challenge, I've never seen what fifteen seconds.
Speaker 2 (01:37:23):
Guys they need they need to really really.
Speaker 1 (01:37:26):
Now if he calls to deal with jobs, I mean,
there's the humanity, there's the humanitaris out of it. I'm
sure they can find another jobs, find other work. There's
a lot of people losing jobs out there. They can
find other line of work. By the way, at toul Hatton,
all of a sudden it's gotten to ten under park.
He has six hunder on the day right now.
Speaker 5 (01:37:43):
He's only got two holes left though, so this this
will be the ceiling.
Speaker 1 (01:37:47):
All right, Well that's.
Speaker 5 (01:37:50):
Well, see I'm just saying, like all these other guys
in the in the what they we're talking about, they've
still got the back nine to play. If Hatton's almost done,
then like he's gonna sit there. So it'll be it'll
be some tough watching for.
Speaker 4 (01:38:02):
The speaking of a challenge, Rangers just had one and
won it on a strike ends the inning.
Speaker 1 (01:38:06):
Yeah, well, there are a lot of people winning those because, yeah,
the accuracy of the machine is for real, and you
now know what a ball and strike is in Major
League Baseball. Also, as far as the play in round.
So this has been going on now for several years
around the NBA. A lot of people are still confused
about the formats. So here's how it works. Seven eight,
nine to ten. And by the way, what's interesting about
(01:38:28):
these games is there are no records about these games
in the NBA record book. They're not playoff games. No,
they're not playoff games, so they're not listed anywhere. So
when you look at you know, hey, what's the There
are no records for these games. So the seven plays eight,
nine plays ten. The loser of the nine to ten
(01:38:50):
game is out. The winner of the seven eight game
is the seventh seed, and then the loser of the
seven eight game plays the winner of the nine to
ten game to determine the eight seat. That's how the
format works. It's all right, so we have enough of
a sample size. By the way, we had the Miami Heat.
They went from the first four all the way to
(01:39:13):
the NBA Finals, did they not reme they rolled up
that three to zero series lead on the Celtics in
sixteen sixteen, Yeah, they did. But the idea that here
here's the problem again. The idea of this was is
that they would keep more teams engaged right less tanking
(01:39:36):
because you're bringing more teams in with the possibility to
make of the postseason. How has that worked? You know,
much like setting the sixty five game rule that has
actually made it worse. There are more players missing more
games now with a sixty five game role than there
were before. And there are more teams tanking now than
(01:39:59):
ever before in the NBA, even with the so called
playing rule, so more teams have a chance to make
it in the postseason. Rory McElroy just birdied the eighth hole,
so all of a sudden rory. And by the way,
Cameron Young also Bertie so they both get to eleven
hundred par they are one shot behind Justin Rose. What
a finish this is going to be. So your overall
(01:40:21):
impression of the playing round is it necessary?
Speaker 4 (01:40:23):
Isn't working?
Speaker 1 (01:40:24):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
I can't stand it.
Speaker 1 (01:40:25):
It's not.
Speaker 4 (01:40:25):
First of all, nobody watches it, and unless it's really
bad teams with great players. I remember there's been some
years where the Lakers played Golden State, so you.
Speaker 1 (01:40:34):
Get Lebron Well that was the very first year, remember,
and Steph got eliminated. They would have been the eighth
seed under the old format. They got bounced. I go,
great job, NBA, you just literally eliminated.
Speaker 2 (01:40:44):
Took out one of your two biggest starts. Exactly. No,
I don't like it. I don't think it's worth it.
I don't think it works. Yes, people are gonna say.
Speaker 1 (01:40:52):
Well, the Miami Heat, Yeah, and the sixteen wants be
the one Busta Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson.
Speaker 2 (01:40:56):
What's your point, Like, let's get real, Okay, it did.
Speaker 4 (01:41:00):
Ten teams do not deserve a shot at going to
the playoffs in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (01:41:04):
Give me the eight in the first round.
Speaker 4 (01:41:06):
Let's go back to the best out of five format
even in the finals. Let's go back to three two three.
It's the finals and normally you have teams on opposite coast.
You don't need traveling days for games five, six to seven.
Go back to three two three. It worked all those years.
No one complain about it. It was cool. Plus it
made the team that had home court advantage know that
we're about to go three on the road. If you
(01:41:28):
go in there up two, all you want to do
is snatch one of them bad boys, even if they
get one, And if you can snatch game three and
go up three, to zero, cancel Christmas.
Speaker 2 (01:41:35):
Think they can worth ways, because.
Speaker 1 (01:41:37):
I remember in nineteen ninety one, well, the first year
they did it was in eighty five, and that was
because again the Lakers and Celtics, it just made sense,
of course, So they changed to that two three to
two format in nineteen eighty five. But then in nineteen
ninety one, the Lakers are playing the Bulls. This was
Michael Jordan's source. NBA Finals series opens in Chicago. Bulls
are clear favorites and the Lakers still Game one Sam
(01:41:59):
Park and so all of a sudd and you're like, Okay,
you got the split, man. I mean, at the very
least you good. You win one out of three at home,
maybe two out of three.
Speaker 4 (01:42:07):
They got swept, sweat three in a row. Michael said, Listen,
they should have won Game one. Sam Perkins get there's
a kickout three to Sam Perkins, and Sam Perkins hits
the last second three. If he misses that shot, the
Bulls sweeped them that year.
Speaker 3 (01:42:19):
Does anyone in America outside of the Bay Area really
want to see the thirty seven and forty four Golden
State Warriors.
Speaker 2 (01:42:26):
No, I don't want to.
Speaker 3 (01:42:27):
Nobody does.
Speaker 2 (01:42:28):
By the way, you know who also doesn't want to
be there. The Warriors. Yeah, the Warriors don't want to
be there.
Speaker 3 (01:42:32):
Nobody want to see hornets the Miami Heat.
Speaker 1 (01:42:35):
No, I can guarantee the Warriors are gonna mail in
that game against the Clippers.
Speaker 2 (01:42:39):
Oh you're an NBA guy, be real, you're watching the
playing games?
Speaker 3 (01:42:42):
No? All right, then not if the Lakers aren't involved
there they're not. And I hate the playing too, because
it's ammo for people to be like, see, this team
would have made the playoffs. But if you're the seventh seed,
like you're, you would have made the playoffs anyway.
Speaker 4 (01:42:55):
Why do I gotta play?
Speaker 1 (01:42:56):
One thing is if I'm the seventh seed, why do
I gotta Playah?
Speaker 2 (01:42:59):
Why do I not to play? In to play it?
Speaker 4 (01:43:01):
If you want to do if you want to adjust it,
didn't go eight, nine, ten, eleven or.
Speaker 2 (01:43:06):
Hell go just well foraying.
Speaker 4 (01:43:09):
Oh but you guys want to but you guys want
to add, but you want to add playoff teams and
tournament teams.
Speaker 1 (01:43:14):
Come on, the numbers, don't hold up. No one's as
you said, no one's watching.
Speaker 3 (01:43:17):
You know we have this and thankfully we'll be adding
two more teams.
Speaker 4 (01:43:20):
Would you guys want to add sixteen teams to the
college football playoff.
Speaker 1 (01:43:24):
Don't do that. And you you said it, though, I
will say sixteen teen up to sixteen, Well, it's either
that or drop it to eight. And that's what I suggested.
It should only be. There's not sixteen teams that can win.
There not going to go They're not going to go
back there. There's not sixteen teams, guys. And we all
know this, we all say the college football guys.
Speaker 4 (01:43:42):
At least there's never a year where sixteen teams can
win the national champions At least.
Speaker 2 (01:43:46):
They're holding steady on the NCAA tournament.
Speaker 4 (01:43:48):
Okay, they're holding steady.
Speaker 2 (01:43:49):
Yeah, they're about to have more teams, Yes they are.
Speaker 1 (01:43:52):
There's no budge for sixty eight now right, it's going
to seventy two.
Speaker 2 (01:43:56):
No, it's going to seventy two.
Speaker 4 (01:43:57):
Watch you want to do that?
Speaker 1 (01:44:00):
All his money, all his money being thrown around. Wise,
they're going to seventy two. All right, let's find out
what's trending right now. Seventy two. Moncey Monsey, Monsey, all right,
so MONSI, how do you feel about your clips? So
they lose that game to the Blazers, they'll host the
Warriors in the nine ten match that the Warriors are
(01:44:21):
not going to show up, so they win that game,
so you get the loser of the game between the
Suns and the Blazers.
Speaker 8 (01:44:28):
The Clippers were six and twenty one. I'm going to
say I'm in a good mood with Clippers.
Speaker 2 (01:44:33):
I think the Clippers. Look, I have a match.
Speaker 1 (01:44:36):
I would assume the Suns at home should beat the Blazers. Yes,
they should, even if the Clippers have to go to
Portland for that eight to nine game for the eighth splot.
Speaker 2 (01:44:45):
I still like the Clipper.
Speaker 8 (01:44:46):
I like the Clippers too, But after the start, after
the trades, after everything, you didn't get you didn't ask
me who I had at the top of my list
for MVP.
Speaker 7 (01:44:55):
Steve Hartman. It's fine.
Speaker 2 (01:44:56):
I'm not sorry, Monsy, because you know what I mentioning.
Speaker 4 (01:45:00):
Not during commercial breakcause they didn't actually.
Speaker 2 (01:45:01):
Neither thought we had already covered this. I'm sorry, I apologize.
Speaker 7 (01:45:04):
No, it's okay. I just didn't get to tell you
that Kawhi Leonard should be the MVP. That's what I
get to tell you. He should be in the conversation, Okay,
six and twenty one.
Speaker 1 (01:45:13):
By the way, he needs to play today to qualify
for any posts.
Speaker 7 (01:45:16):
Yeah, but you said that the numbers don't matter, so we.
Speaker 1 (01:45:18):
Were just you know, yeah, I like that you were listening.
Speaker 7 (01:45:20):
I was listening.
Speaker 2 (01:45:21):
Okay. So, uh, it's so good. She's so good. But
you're not going to call her by I'm not going to.
Speaker 4 (01:45:28):
I'm never going to tell you. She will give me.
Speaker 1 (01:45:31):
I don't even know who you are, all right, so
give me your one, two, three that So you have
Kawhi one.
Speaker 7 (01:45:35):
Well, I think Kawai should be in the conversation.
Speaker 8 (01:45:38):
I think if you're talking about value, Kawhi Leonard is
our leading rebounder. Kawhi Leonard is the only Clipper that
is top fifty and scoring in the league. Well, you
have other teams that have two, three, multiple scores. Kawhi
Leard has literally carried the Clippers to the position that
they're in right now. He's been the most available out
of like the last couple of years of his career,
having the best career. His numbers signific canly higher average.
(01:46:01):
I know he only played like last.
Speaker 4 (01:46:02):
Year, thirty years.
Speaker 7 (01:46:03):
He's having a great year.
Speaker 1 (01:46:04):
No, he's saying I will say this because thank you,
because Both Luca and Kay Cunningham are not eligible for
the m v P. I will bet the band Kawhi
will finish top five.
Speaker 7 (01:46:15):
I think as he should.
Speaker 1 (01:46:16):
As he should not playing today, so he always he
decided to forfeit the sixty four game.
Speaker 3 (01:46:22):
That's saying he did.
Speaker 7 (01:46:25):
I thought he did qualify. I was, I didn't know
sixty four.
Speaker 2 (01:46:29):
I think he's at sixty four. Guys, he's at sixty four.
Speaker 4 (01:46:32):
If there's a guy we know in pro sports that
does not give a damn about it is.
Speaker 1 (01:46:41):
Why he definitely doesn't mean just verify this because I
know he was right on the cusp.
Speaker 2 (01:46:46):
Oh no, he did play sixty You don't even.
Speaker 1 (01:46:48):
Got to know.
Speaker 2 (01:46:49):
You don't even have to know basketball to know that.
Kawhi Leonard Okay, I don't care about that.
Speaker 1 (01:46:53):
He will not play today, but sixty maybe he made this.
Speaker 7 (01:46:56):
He made it, Okay, Yeah, I thought so. Yeah, yeah again.
Speaker 1 (01:46:58):
Averaging twenty seven win nine per game, shooting over fifty percent,
thirty nine percent threes, eighty nine percent free throw shooting, has.
Speaker 8 (01:47:07):
Had game winners for the Clippers after losing players like.
Speaker 2 (01:47:10):
The best years, He'll be all ob.
Speaker 8 (01:47:14):
A second team, hopefully not so well you.
Speaker 2 (01:47:17):
Won't make first, Well you'll make second.
Speaker 7 (01:47:19):
He should be first.
Speaker 2 (01:47:20):
Who is not eligible?
Speaker 1 (01:47:21):
Lucas not eligible, Kid's not eligible, Anthony Edwards is not eligible?
Speaker 4 (01:47:25):
Right, take them out of I think, wow.
Speaker 7 (01:47:28):
Yeah, that's what he should definitely be first with all
the eight players.
Speaker 2 (01:47:31):
With all the sixty five stuff.
Speaker 7 (01:47:32):
Yeah, no, he should actuately be. But even if he wasn't,
he should still be.
Speaker 8 (01:47:36):
But the other m vps that I would put if
we weren't talking with the sixty five rule, it's SGA
wemby Luca.
Speaker 7 (01:47:42):
Caid, Cunningham, Kawhi Leonard.
Speaker 8 (01:47:44):
That's the top five for me. Back off, no joker, though,
I man, it's call it fatigue for me. I'm so
used to it. I'm so used to it. It's a
real thing people, it is.
Speaker 7 (01:47:55):
It's not fair. I'm not off there.
Speaker 1 (01:47:59):
Eighteen and eleven a year.
Speaker 7 (01:48:02):
Like what the thing is like?
Speaker 8 (01:48:03):
He also he also the way he plays it's not
flashy in any way, she or form, but he does
this every He's so incredible. As I've said, he's the
greatest basketball player and eleven he's the greatest basketball player.
Speaker 2 (01:48:16):
This you're talking about your kids, right?
Speaker 4 (01:48:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:48:19):
This airs him.
Speaker 2 (01:48:19):
Duncan he said, not flashy, but duncan.
Speaker 1 (01:48:22):
Never passed the ball. I mean, this guy is averaging
twenty eight thirteen in the.
Speaker 4 (01:48:26):
Life talking about like she said, just like the blandness
of it, like he does like honestly, when you watch.
Speaker 1 (01:48:31):
Him play these times, I'm like, yo, how the hell did.
Speaker 4 (01:48:34):
You not like my daughter Journey can jump higher in him.
Speaker 8 (01:48:38):
Because he don't care, because he he wants to go
hang out with his horses and he has to play
his office.
Speaker 4 (01:48:45):
He doesn't even I.
Speaker 8 (01:48:47):
Feel like he illinoy like I gotta go back, Yeah, yeah,
I gotta go make millions.
Speaker 1 (01:48:54):
Jokic is like the better the magics of the world
that just know where everybody else on the court talking about.
Speaker 8 (01:49:04):
No, listen, I love him and he should be if
he wins, great, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (01:49:08):
But like I'm so used to have to slow his
frozen molasses. Will you watch him like the break is like,
that's not a fast just take that out.
Speaker 7 (01:49:17):
Of that care he don't care.
Speaker 1 (01:49:19):
Thirty four triple I know, I know no one else
has more than thirteen.
Speaker 8 (01:49:23):
I'll be quick here since we spent the whole time
talking about the MVP, but Justin.
Speaker 7 (01:49:28):
Rose is in the lead right now, a twelve under
part overall.
Speaker 8 (01:49:30):
When it comes to the final round with the Masters,
he is four under through ten holes in this final round.
But Cameron Young, Rory McElroy, they're just one shot back.
They are even for this final round.
Speaker 7 (01:49:41):
Ty Tyrrell Hatton, he is two shots back.
Speaker 8 (01:49:44):
Russell Henley, Scotti Scheffler, they are three shots back at
the top of the leaderboard. At the NASCAR Cup Series,
which you could catch all the action on FS one
after two hundred and forty one laps, so just about midway.
Kyle Larson is still in the lead. In the NHL.
Halfway through the second the Penguins and the Capitols. The
Capitals have scored there up one zero with actually late
(01:50:05):
in the second period. When it comes to baseball, yep
lead off home run for show Heyo Tawny.
Speaker 7 (01:50:10):
They lead the Rangers one zero.
Speaker 8 (01:50:11):
Bottom of the second inning, about to start, Randi Erdosadna
with an RBI single. Mariners lead the Astros one zero
bottom of the second, Manny Machado with a sack fly
padres Ley the Rockies one zero bottom of the second.
Pirates over the cub six to four top of the
eighth inning, while the Rays held on five to four
against the Yankees and completed the sweep.
Speaker 7 (01:50:29):
All right, back to you guys.
Speaker 1 (01:50:31):

(01:50:53):
interesting about Scotti Scheffler today. So he birdied, won, he
birdied three, and now he's had eight straight cars. He's closely.
He's just he do eight straight pars. He's three shots
out of the lead, still very much in it, but
he's gonna have to do some damage on these part threes.
It's a par fives. He part two, he part eight.
(01:51:14):
I mean it just it's incredible. He cannot breathe these
par fives and that is what's holding Scotty Scheffer away
from a three king jacket.
Speaker 4 (01:51:23):
And Cameron and Karen, oh my god, just missed a
very makeable putt.
Speaker 1 (01:51:28):
That's gonna hurt him, right now he started a.
Speaker 3 (01:51:32):
Hole in the woods too. This is not a great
hole for.
Speaker 4 (01:51:35):
Him here, no at all, and is the thing he's
sitting right now. This is for park This is a
long This is a long part for par Man.
Speaker 1 (01:51:44):
This is the kind of things if you want to
win a green jacket, you got to drill some of these.
Speaker 3 (01:51:48):
And nowhere close, nowhere close.
Speaker 1 (01:51:50):
Well, it's coming down the hill, guys. This is it's
hard to tell till the ball starts.
Speaker 4 (01:51:56):
You're right, that's not a bad put. But it's a
bogey though.
Speaker 1 (01:51:58):
Yeah, it's a bogey. So he's the tie. So now
McElroy's alone and second, one shot behind Justin Rode.
Speaker 5 (01:52:04):
Hatton picked up par on seventeen. He's kind of running
out of room, guys. I just want to relate from
a friend who basically said, what Hatten needs to be
rooting for the most right now is the win to
suddenly pick up.
Speaker 1 (01:52:14):
How would it be if we had Justin Rose and
McElroy in a playoff two consecutive years.
Speaker 5 (01:52:18):
Oh god, I think I would That be unbelievable, but
it's possible. Would be rory. We always associate with collapse,
but as you say, this would be the third playoff
for Rose at the Masters.
Speaker 1 (01:52:33):
Yeah, which is unpresent and the only other guy to
have multiple playoffs was Ben Hogan. Ben Hogan losing to.
Speaker 2 (01:52:39):
And with Rory.
Speaker 4 (01:52:40):
I'm still gonna lean on the pressure. He's got ten
I mean, think he's got nine holes to go once again.
When everybody else around him is on their a game
and the pressure hits him, he is not responding well.
Speaker 1 (01:52:49):
And all right, here's mclroy with a very makeable birdie
putt that we could share the lead, and the putt
is blown, missed, just whiff.
Speaker 2 (01:52:59):
That's like an airball.
Speaker 4 (01:53:00):
That's what he's gonna do. That's just what he's done
his whole career.
Speaker 1 (01:53:03):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:53:03):
People call it. Hey, no, it's not hate.
Speaker 4 (01:53:05):
I'm just no.
Speaker 1 (01:53:06):
Last year though, Chris, Let's be honest, the rest of
the field played like crap, and so did.
Speaker 4 (01:53:11):
He for Justin.
Speaker 5 (01:53:12):
He's but he was in a playoff, like, we can't
do this. The rest of the field play like crap
when he's in a playoff right now, he missed.
Speaker 4 (01:53:18):
He was in a playoff because he missed the five
foot play for the win.
Speaker 5 (01:53:24):
Okay, so Young still has to do the Caps hate
when we do the selective thing with Rory, like he's
won plenty on top of this, Like.
Speaker 2 (01:53:31):
Well, no, no, it's not selective.
Speaker 4 (01:53:34):
Is when you're supposed to be great and I'm told
that you're the next one, then I hold you accountable
to that.
Speaker 1 (01:53:40):
Look, he's only won one major since twenty fourty.
Speaker 2 (01:53:44):
Right in ten in twelve years. Come on, let's not
do this.
Speaker 1 (01:53:47):
Okay, so he's won one. Let's not come on like
this guy's supposed to be the guy Scheffler's you know.
Speaker 4 (01:53:54):
And within that time we were naming it, we talked
about SNI.
Speaker 5 (01:53:57):
We would say Rory is the loan alone guy like this,
there's a plurality in golf right now between I mean,
he's on the back end of it. You've got Scheffler,
You've got to Shambeau, You've got young guys coming up here.
Speaker 2 (01:54:07):
The best golfer in the world, are you right now?
Probably Scheffler?
Speaker 1 (01:54:10):
Okay, yeah, Scheffler is the best golfer in the world.
Speaker 2 (01:54:12):
But that's golf in the world.
Speaker 1 (01:54:13):
But he's got to get off that par train right
now and get himself into contention. Coming up on the
other side, we'll make some final picks. We're gonna put
it on the cart. It's gonna walk away with that
green jacket. This is Fox Sports Sunday. I want to
thank our crew today. MONSI always right to call me out.
(01:54:33):
She never hesitates. That's what I love about her. You
only want that gets away with it. He fights and
argues with me all the time when I call him out. Yeah,
you do the only want to you only here to
get away with it.
Speaker 7 (01:54:44):
I say something else, I'm prettier than you.
Speaker 1 (01:54:46):
I'm just yeah, you know well she also you know
I'm not even I'm not even gonna first of all,
you know, you know, you know my vanity argant some
days at your girl your lady saw Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:54:59):
But me give it simple why you know?
Speaker 1 (01:55:03):
Okay, if you're asking me my opinion, I'll go with
Moncy every time.
Speaker 3 (01:55:08):
Sorry, I would.
Speaker 4 (01:55:09):
Expect you to go.
Speaker 1 (01:55:11):
But also she brings us breakfast here. That's also the
only person that does that.
Speaker 4 (01:55:15):
Make up stories and bring your daughter in and and
FIBs about.
Speaker 1 (01:55:19):
Don't we have the true uh distance fan in the house.
The chairman of the board here, mister christ You see
how he does.
Speaker 2 (01:55:27):
You see I didn't see what he's doing. She doesn't
bother me.
Speaker 1 (01:55:29):
I love you.
Speaker 5 (01:55:31):
He knows what's up there. Just we're just counting down here.
I'm going to be jumping over and taking over from
Moncy in about an hour or so and uh, sweating
out everything remaining on this because this is the back
nine and Augusta.
Speaker 1 (01:55:45):
I mean we're new. Yeah, we're we're going to settle
in on this rose right now.
Speaker 4 (01:55:50):
He is I believe far? Is that par That is
a par at eleven?
Speaker 1 (01:55:56):
Oh no, no, no, McElroy is now tied for the lead,
tied for leads. So after all that, mcroy's back tied
for the lead. All right, we could have a playoff
between the two guys. That is unbelievable. Uh. And then
of course Bo, who honestly, we thought when the football
season ended we would not see until the next football
(01:56:17):
leagu I already left the state, and all of a
sudden we look up and there's Bo Benson in.
Speaker 2 (01:56:23):
The mountains in the cabin.
Speaker 3 (01:56:24):
So that's next week when I'm on a plane to Hawaii.
Speaker 4 (01:56:27):
So okay, well are you are you?
Speaker 6 (01:56:29):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:56:30):
I am, yeah, trying to get your fight anxiety.
Speaker 1 (01:56:32):
What we have a good tarm enjoy that.
Speaker 3 (01:56:39):
Thanks thanks for not bringing up Tavian Wicks. Today, Steve,
I appreciate it. We don't want to talk about the
Eagles wide receiver room and all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:56:46):
So thank you. No, I'm not, we're not. We're skimming
a week from the call right now. A J.
Speaker 2 (01:56:51):
Brown Eagle gone.
Speaker 3 (01:56:52):
It's okay, he's gone.
Speaker 1 (01:56:55):
We we're gonna have plenty coming up here. When's the draft?
Remind me at the draft a little bit next week.
We are definitely talking. It's Masters week finally. Again, the
early early round NBA is a big bore fest, and so.
Speaker 4 (01:57:07):
Nobody's got any big draft prediction for first round. I
got one, this one, you missed this one, A couple
of things. Bo, So you're not going to be here,
I hope not. So can you pass along?
Speaker 1 (01:57:19):
And no, there's two there's two people we we need
to go get jump Paul Morosi back on our show
now with the baseball season fully underway, especially after his
Michigan Wolverines, he's going to be excited about that. Uh,
And we need our NFL insider man, you know, to
find one.
Speaker 4 (01:57:38):
I know everyone kind of got to on the show already,
but I feel y'all.
Speaker 3 (01:57:41):
Yeah, So we'll work on if you give it a
couple of weeks someone might become available.
Speaker 1 (01:57:45):
All right, well we'll we'll, we'll work on real fast draft,
big huge draft prediction.
Speaker 2 (01:57:50):
Tell me if you like this one I need. I
got the.
Speaker 4 (01:57:52):
Panthers somehow moving up. You gotta get Jordan Love. They
got to get Jordan Loff. They lost Rico and agency,
but Matt Jeremiah, Jeremi. I'm sorry, Jordan, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Jeremiah.
Speaker 3 (01:58:04):
Yeah, I think he goes at four.
Speaker 4 (01:58:06):
You got to go up. Yeah, they need a running
back back.
Speaker 1 (01:58:08):
They're running back.
Speaker 4 (01:58:10):
It's bad.
Speaker 5 (01:58:11):
It's fascinating to watch how the premium has gone up
on running back after I don't know, how's it been
ten years now, people trying to say running backs aren't
worth draft capital now and now we've got Ashton GenZ,
we got Jamir Gibbs, Jeremiah loves.
Speaker 2 (01:58:24):
It's turning. It's turning.
Speaker 4 (01:58:25):
But it was wrong because if you look at and
I saw this the other night, very very weird, highest
pay running back in the least s Kuon Barkley right,
he would be like twentieth ranked at receiver, but the
highest paid receiver Jack Smith and Jig, But who's more
important to their team?
Speaker 3 (01:58:44):
Look?
Speaker 1 (01:58:44):
Who's more important to their team. I'm not surprised. We
know this when the game, when you are winning or
trying to close games out, you do it with a
running game, running the ball. That's how you close games
out with a running game. You know, I'm sort of
an anti Notre Dame guy from my history. But yes,
Jeremiah Love is the real deal, no question, the real do. Yeah,
(01:59:07):
he's going to get to definitely a lot of All Right,
we're watching Justin Rose right now on the par three
twelfth hole, which is always a danger hole, and he
overshoots the greed. That's not a great spot to be,
not in the trap at least that's the way.
Speaker 2 (01:59:20):
I'll take it there. Yeah, then in the trap.
Speaker 5 (01:59:23):
Yeah, but up and down from that's next shot. He's
right up against the hole. I didn't see what the
stroke Chris.
Speaker 1 (01:59:28):
One thing.
Speaker 4 (01:59:28):
Just to pickyback on the running back thing. I think
that tide is really turning. We're going to start the
seed teams goes back to running backs and paying these guys,
because look what it's done.
Speaker 2 (01:59:38):
You're paying all these receivers thirty thirty five.
Speaker 1 (01:59:42):
Unning back.
Speaker 2 (01:59:43):
They have a short shelf life.
Speaker 1 (01:59:46):
Say okay, so you give.
Speaker 4 (01:59:47):
Him a contract when they're young, and when they get
old and be.
Speaker 1 (01:59:50):
Up, you let him get like you were doing before.
You give him a rookie contract, Milk them for everything
they're worth to move on to the Yeah, and didn't
give a receiver off one good year, million dollars a year.
Speaker 5 (01:59:59):
I will.
Speaker 1 (02:00:00):
I want you on the record, who wins this masters
right now? You're looking at it right now. Give me
a winner, right now, Give me a winner.
Speaker 2 (02:00:07):
Give me Young.
Speaker 1 (02:00:09):
Okay, so you say Cameron, Cameron, you can't give me
give me Cameron Young.
Speaker 2 (02:00:13):
And I'm gonna go.
Speaker 1 (02:00:15):
Justin Rose is finally going to put on that green jacket.
Speaker 2 (02:00:20):
All right, Jason Fitz come on, saying come it up.
