of Justin Field t he he he had his debut
as a stealer. We'll talk a few things usay bet
men's basketball. We got a lot to get to. But fellas,
I wanted to start off with Caleb Williams. And before
(01:39):
we get the sound on Caleb talking about well, his
favorite best quarterback, favorite quarterback, I don't know. He might
have been some meaning favorite quarterback versus best quarterback. But
I'm curious as to what you guys will have his
an opinion on it once you hear the sound on it.
If you already heard it, how y'all doing? Man? Is
it good Saturday? How y'all fee man? Far you already know? Man?
Speaker 3 (02:03):

do a little celebrating this weekend. Birthday champions a little bit,
are you? It's your birthday? I turned forty seven on Monday.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Cool, Happy birthday, old man, Happy birthday. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
So you know later today a little rotista for a
couple of birds on the grill, you know, the.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Birthday of champions.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
You know, some champagne and chicken and all right, and
you know that's how I'm starting my weekend off.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
That sounds good. That happy birthday to you. Well, as
I mentioned Caleb Williams, Uh, he had some interesting things
to say about who he believes are his top quarterbacks
in the league. And I'm just curious, is this real
or is this some type of shade that that's being thrown.
But I'm gonna let y'all call it. Here's what he
(03:23):
had to say.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
Matthew Stafford is probably I can't I don't think I
can name two quarterbacks two or three quarterbacks that play
a position better than Matthew Stafford. Wow, not obviously playing
right now. I'm not saying forty two.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
He was forty two.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
I don't know how it's forty two.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
He's better than Josh Allen, He's better than like that.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
That Matthew Stafford is Matthew Stafford. Aaron Rodgers right now
in the game is my number one qv Obviously last
year he got hurt and things like that, so that's
you know, it kind of varies for the top one hundred.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
Butt yeah, play you play Matthew, though you.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
Know Matthews, Matthew's top two in the league.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Listen, I think Matthew Stafford is a fine quarterback. I
mean he's won a super Bowl, and a lot of
people were using that as as a discussion point and
chats that I was in after. You know, I talked
about this on the show yesterday. But a super Bowl
to me is only a piece of qualifying players greatness
(04:25):
because this is the ultimate team sport. One one player
doesn't win a super Bowl. In fact, if we were
to say who won the super Bowl, literally it was
Aaron Donald that won that super Bowl that they were in.
But that. That's not the point. The question I would
have for you guys, is was he throwing shaye at
Patrick Mahomes, Like, how do you not have Patrick Mahomes
(04:48):
as a one two and in any anybody's list? I
mean you could possibly say one two of all time?
And in the discussion with Patrick Mahomes and Caleb Williams
does not have him in his one two sounds as though.
Is Aaron Rodgers first and Matthew Stafford second?
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Man, I don't look at it like that, you uh,
number one. I've been knowing Matthew Stafford since he was
in high school. That's crazy. This is how I look
at it. It could be that Caleb may have a
relationship with Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
He played at USC Matthew Stafford's here.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Maybe they they they had an opportunity to connect when
they were both in the Los Angeles area. Who knows,
and maybe he mentored them, maybe he gave them, he
gave him advice. We don't know those things. But the
second thing is also he said Aaron Rodgers is number one.
So if Aaron Rodgers is one, Matthew Stafford is two.
Both of those dudes are older quarterbacks and so as
(05:51):
Caleb is growing up, maybe those are the two quarterbacks
that he thought were And let's just beyond Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Is a dog, no Doub's really good, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
And those are two quarterbacks that Caleb may have looked
up to and modeled his game after as he was
growing up. Now, is Mahomes the best quarterback in the league. Absolutely,
But when Caleb Williams was coming up, those may have
been the two quarterbacks that he looked up to that
he modeled his game after.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
And then here comes so long. So all he did
was had I mean, maybe he didn't slip, you know
what I mean, fellas, Maybe he didn't slip, But I
mean maybe the better way of saying it would have
been my top my favorite quarterbacks are Aaron Rodgers and
Matthew Stafford. I mean, it's qualified if you say it
that way, but to say they're the best, I didn't
(06:48):
know if that was.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
I don't think it's shade at Mahomes. Okay, all right,
I don't I know Caleb Williams, but I don't know
him well enough to say, you know how he feels
it thinks, But he comes off as a type of dude. Honestly,
like if he felt like he didn't like somebody, he
would just be like, these are my favorite quarterbacks or
these are the best quarterbacks. I don't think Mahomes is
(07:10):
up there. He's good. I think he would say that.
But a lot of quarterbacks they don't put other quarterbacks down.
But anytime you put a list out, I don't care
what type of list it is. Best believe somebody's going
to be pissed off that they not on the list.
But we're all like what he didn't say Mahomes, I
(07:31):
don't believe it. With Shade, I just believe those two
guys are somebody he really looked up to as he
began the journey of being a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Yeah, I don't think. I don't really think it's Shade
at all. I just think it's his own personal opinion.
I mean, I really do. Just like TV TJ said,
I think him being at USC and him having any
on Matthew Stafford that you know, that's somebody that he
you know, kind of watched through a scholars career. But
when you put you know, you say you want to
put Aaron Rodgers first and in Mattha Stafford his second
(08:01):
I mean, well, we all know that that's not true.
So it's his own personal take and feel on who
he feels personally are his top two quarterbacks, because when
you line up, you know, Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes.
Everybody knows that those are the top two quarterbacks and
all the football we know that. So just like me,
(08:21):
you know, if somebody asked me who's my favorite wide receiver,
and me and TJ or whoever, including yourself, LeVar, we're
going to have our own personal opinions. I personally think
that Jamar Chase is the best world wide receiver in football.
That's just my take on watching you know, all of
these guys play the position. From a pure wide receiver standpoint,
I think that he's the best. Everybody's not going to
(08:42):
agree with that, but I understand exactly what he's saying,
that Matthew Stafford is his favorite wide receiver.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
He would I mean quarterback.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
He wouldn't be saying that if he was still in
Detroit because he couldn't win any football games. So he
goes to Los Angeles, he wins the championship. CALEBI is
there in california're playing at US He at the time
and he developed a liking of his own personal you know,
a liking for Matthew Stafford, this quarterback. But we know,
(09:12):
but when you put those guys up on the board,
Matthew Stafford is not one and two in this league.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
What you got? Per fact, you're you're Alliance fan and
a podcaster on on Detroit Lions football, so I know
you know him pretty well. What are you thinking?
Speaker 6 (09:28):
I to TJ's point, this might just be I was
having this thought kind of going through my head that
this is also might just be like guys who you
want to be, And I was thinking, Matthew Stafford is
the last quarterback in the league. I don't I don't
remember if there was anyone who came out after him
that we maybe did this with who I hate to
use the word gunslinger, but I can't think of any
(09:50):
other quarterback who still exists who can still we associate
arm strength more with than Matthew Stafford, Right, Like that's
a guy who you know can throw the ball fifty
sixty yards down the field, And I thinks maybe that's
what Caleb, But I think that's what Caleb's going for.
It is standard. But the same time, like that's Stafford's
(10:11):
whole thing is the guns. He's the last gun slinger
out there. Everyone else, you know, the archetypes of quarterbacks
has been tilting a lot towards well, you also got
to know how to run the football, or you got
to be able to run an offense really well, Whereas
Stafford's the whole thing for the longest time has just
been Yeah, he's just gonna throw it deep, and he's
gonna and it's going to be a powerful throw. And
(10:31):
I think at least that in its purity is admirable
to maybe guy like.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
That, I get it. I don't feel like that gives
anybody the nod for number one, number two quarterback in
the in the league. I look at Matthew Stafford. Matthew
Stafford's his stat line has been comparable to the person
they flip flop with in Detroit if you go look
at their stat lines. Jared Goff, his stat line is
(11:01):
almost a similar Is he a Hall of Famer? No? No,
is that up for debate. No. I was just I
was asking y'all think, do y'all think he's Do people
view him in that line? I don't. I don't think
he's viewed as a Hall of Famer. I don't think
he's a Hall of Famer. I don't see him as
(11:22):
as as a Hall of Famer. I mean again, I
think he's a fine quarterback. I think he is one
of those quarterbacks that you enjoy watching play and he
brings a lot to the table. But as far as
like Greatest Ever, I don't think anyone would ever stop
in the Greatest Ever conversation and use Matthew Stafford in
(11:45):
that conversation. And I'm not trying to I don't think
that that's shade. He's a two time Pro Bowl. He's
a two time Pro Bowler. That's it. In a Super
Bowl chat. That's it. Two time Pro Super Bowl chat.
He's not even he He's not even in the conversation
(12:05):
of going into the Hall of Fame. He's not. He's
his his his trajectory is not hall of Fame at
this point at all. I mean, if we're just being
honest about it, so to say that, you know, in comparison,
if you want to try to throw Aaron Rodgers in
the top top spot, there's a sentimental value that I
(12:27):
could see being used in the discussion point. But Aaron
Rodgers is not the number one quarterback in the National
Football League. He's not. Now we could throw we could
talk about Joe Burrow's health, and when he's healthy, he's
arguably the the you know, in the conversation he has
best at Patrick Mahomes. You can, people can hate on
(12:49):
Lamar Jackson all they want, but Lamar Jackson has the
crown of being an NFL A league not offensive MVP.
He's a league MVP two times all ready in his career.
And if I'm not mistaken, isn't that Patrick Mahomes too,
Patrick Mahomes only had it twice? Correct? Yeah? So, so
(13:10):
when when we start having discussions about best, like we
could throw super bowls out there, like, Okay, Lamar Jackson
doesn't play well in the playoffs. He doesn't. He hasn't
brought home a super Bowl, this, that, and the other.
That's a team sport. And if you if we look
back at last year's playoff game, you know, his his homeboy,
what was it, Zay? He sold him twice in that game,
(13:32):
and we could talk about we.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Could talk about sold him.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
I mean, I'm just I'm not I'm not listen. I'm
not attacking him. I'm just saying it's a seventeen seven
game at that time, we sold him they win the game,
and on the off those off of those two plays,
they win that game. That's why I think that's my opinion.
I don't know that they win the Super Bowl. That
doesn't give him a Super Bowl, right, but they still
he got Don't put that. Don't put everything on Lamar
(13:59):
jacks and in terms of what they haven't done in
the playoffs yet, because I think they did have a
decent chance last year. But nonetheless, his accolades are his accolades,
and I think it's hard to dispute what Lamar Jackson
has been able to accomplish and at the point of
his career. And I'm certainly not even going to try
to justify Patrick Mahomes. I'm not going to try to
(14:21):
justify that because there's no reason to do it, and
it is what it is. And they didn't have him
rated as high as they probably should have on that
one hundred lists, So I mean, people are always going
to feel slighter on top hundred lists. You know, we
had the conversation I brought Plexico up. I said, you
could talk about how good a player is, but unless
(14:41):
you can look at something that's tangible that's connected to
what they did. If you look at Plexus stat line
on what was it, consecutive years, I believe he should
have been in the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
Hey, now, the fact that plex never made a PLoP,
I never knew that that boy got hated on some
so bad.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
I thought. I thought I got hated on y'all. Y'alls,
two of the most hated receivers in the league. Like,
let's be real, two of the most hated dudes. Like
that is just it's crazy the way. But when we
were playing, oh, the Pro Bowl was the Pro Bowl. Like,
you can't even throw out Pro Bowl. Now everybody makes
a Pro Bowl.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
Dude made a Pro Bowl for the Ravers Tyler Huntley,
no disrespect, and he started like four games last year.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Come on, bro, come on watching. This is crazy, man.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
The Pro Bowl now is like dudes making the Pro
Bowl with nine hundred yards.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Dudes making the Pro Bowl with three hundred yards.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
Hey, I couldn't get in with a thousand yard season.
I couldn't get in with eleven hundred yard season. I
couldn't get in with a twelve hundred yard season. I
couldn't get in with a thirteen hundred yard season. I
couldn't get the foe. They just wasn't let you in, damn.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
So I get some of the argument points that people
will put out there sometimes in terms of oh, well
he didn't do this, he didn't do that. Well, Lamar
Jackson didn't win the Super Bowl. Okay, that doesn't mean
he ain't one of the best tops at his position.
Plus didn't get into the Pro Bowl. But that don't
mean that he wasn't tops at his position. Like, I
get the argument, but I thought it was an interesting conversation.
(16:18):
I loved hearing which I had to say about it,
just like i'm aa love hearing what I gotta say
about We're gonna keep the receiver's conversation going. Kerry Jones
had some interesting things to say about CD LAMB. We'll
get to that and more. You're listening to, Yeah, it's
up on game with Plexico, Burris and TJ. Huschman's outa.

(18:06):
that's rapid Radios dot com. Fellas your boy, Jerry Jones.
He loves being in the news, and so do the
Dallas Cowboys. They're in training camp and the latest. The
latest is a SoundBite from Jerry Jones and speaking on well,
the contract situation going on with Cedee Lamb. Let's take
(18:29):
a listen to it. I went to a school or
I went to college.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
I don't know why I said it, but I'm just saying,
I I don't have a sense I urged you about
getting it done, any reason you won't.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
He's in no rush to get a contract done with
CD Lamb. Now he was laughing. It could be tongue
in cheek, right, it could It could be that dude, like,
I'm not in a rush to pay for this bill
that I took, you know, thirteen people out to and
you know, we went to a very very nice place
to eat. I'm not in a rush to get the
bill and pay it, you know. As could be one
of those things, or it could be he really isn't
(19:10):
in a rush to pay CD Lamb. Now. It led
to the conversation, or maybe speculation, is Jerry Jones going
to award any contracts this offseason or this season? Is
he going to pay c d Lamb? Is he going
to pay Dak Prescott? It's a great question. What were
(19:30):
your Guys's what you're feeling on where things are at
with Jerry Jones and this Dallas team.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Man, they just do stuff because they want to stand
aheadlines man Like Jerry Jones's essence is he like a player?
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Man? You just want to have fun, Like I ain't
here for a long time, but I'm here for a
good time.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
I'm not no urgency. Aren't the Cowboys supposed to be
super Bowl contenders? Aren't they?
Speaker 2 (19:56):
That's what people say. I don't see why there would
be a reason to think that, and no information that
gives us the reason to think that they're a super
Bowl competitive team. But that's what people are saying.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Your best offensive player is not your best playmaker. It's
not in camp. If that doesn't give you a sense
of urgency, what will? What will? Because he's not showing
up until you pay him, and if he's not there
Week one, when you play the Cleveland Browns in Cleveland,
(20:28):
you're losing. You're losing. And then Week two you play
the Saints. That's not a guaranteed win. And in Week three,
just say he ain't there Week three, when y'all play
the Baltimore Ravens. At best, you're one in two. Season
may be over and so and so. It's like, have
(20:50):
a sense of urgency when it comes to the players
you've drafted and developed. These are homegrown players that were
drafted in the first round. These players are not because
I'm just kind of throwing Michael Parsons in there, because
he may be in this situation next year. It's like,
what are y'all doing? What are you doing? There should
(21:11):
be a huge sense of urgency. And then if you
turn around and give him the contract that he wanted,
it's like, why didn't you get this to him earlier?
Why didn't you give it to him sooner? Because you
knew this is what it was gonna come down to.
The Cowboys Wait, wait, wait, I remember when they signed
Tyron Smith to that huge extension. I was like, Wow,
(21:34):
this is great. They're locking up a young dude and
they're actually paying them a little bit more than what
he's worth.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
But in a couple of years, this contract's.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
Gonna be bad for Tyron Smith, not for the Cowboys.
And it ended up being that way, and since then
it's sign back. We're gonna wait pay him way more
than you need to pay him. And they're doing that
same thing with CD and they're gonna do the same
thing with Michael Parsons. I have no idea what's going on,
but I believe essential urgency should be on ten and
Jerry up there chilling like it's on one.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Man. There's no sense of urgency.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Man.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
I really don't think of Jared Jones cares. I mean
I really don't. I mean, they've done absolutely nothing this offseason,
and I've said I think that he is really just
all in with this football teams. I'm not going to
reward any of my players any contracts this year, and
I'm going to see where we are next year. And
I think that it's really his attitude going into this season.
(22:30):
And you know, it soon cast some It's soon cast
some people their jobs unfortunately. I mean, I don't think
that they are in a position right now, especially without
CD Lamb, to even be talked about as one of
the best teams in the NFC.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
So what does that leave them?
Speaker 4 (22:43):
Without a CD Lamb ceed Lamb gives them the best
hope of being a contender in the division to get
to an NFC championship game or maybe a Super Bowl.
You don't even have this guy, and you know you're
looking at Michael Parsons.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Everybody knows what's coming with him.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
I mean, he's one of the arguably one of the
best defensive defensive players and all the ball. So for
Jerry Jones, man, I really think that he's just all
in with this football team. I mean, there's there's nothing
else to be said. Because if you don't want to
reward these guys for their play and what they've put
out on the field for you in this organization, then
(23:19):
you just simply have no respect for the business side
of it.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
And I think he just kind of he's turned this.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
Back on the guys that they drafted, that they bought in,
and now these guys are deserving of everything, uh, you know,
contract wise moving forward, and you don't even want to
recognize that as being an owner for the guys that
you bought in. So how do you think that makes
the players feel? So I just think they're going to
(23:46):
go into this season with what they have. I really
don't think he cares if CD Lamb plays this year not.
I mean, he's the owner. He's laughing like it's like
it's a joke, and it's like it's a slap in
the face of Cede.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Lamb response was lol on on on x on social media,
and he did take off of his his profile America's Team.
He took it off. So I mean he clearly, he
clearly was offended by by the vis that we're players.
We're players, and.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
You Ceedee Lamb and its heart of hearts believe eventually
he's gonna get paid.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
He does.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
But when it takes this long and it's you start
to build up animosity absolutely, and regardless of what happens,
like Jerry Jones, bro, you're gonna pay CD nom and
ced noam gonna be thinking they said, do not come
up to me talking to me like we cool moving
forward because we not. And so you start to build
up this animosity that they don't realize is gonna take place.
(24:48):
And now what you think, Michael Parsons is gonna think. Damn,
look how they're doing CD. I guess I'm next, and
then the next player, I guess I'm next. And so
when you don't take care of your own player, you're
gonna have to start over paying you. America's Team America's
y'all gotta start winning.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Well, I'll say this, you have that situation in Dallas,
you kind of have a singular situation taking place in
San Francisco. Let's get an update from Isaac Lowacron and
let's talk about what's going on in San fran the latest.
What you got, Ilo.
Speaker 8 (25:23):
Hey LeVar At the Olympics. It's the gold medal match
in women's soccer and Team USA has taken a one
nothing lead over Brazil. They are now in the seventy
first minute. The goal scored by Mallory Swanson of Team
USA in the fifty seventh minute. It was her fourth
goal of these Olympics. It came in her one hundredth
(25:43):
appearance for the US national team and a great story.
Mallory Swanson had to miss the World Cup last year
because of a torn patellattendon, but today in the gold
medal match at the Olympics, her strike has given Team
usay a one nothing lead over Brazil. There now now
in the seventy second minute. Coming up a three thirty
Eastern the gold medal game in men's basketball between Team
(26:06):
USA and France. NFL preseason, the Washington Commanders have a
seven tozering lead over the New York Jets with four
to nineteen left to play in the first quarter. Washington
took the opening kickoff, and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels led
an eleven place seventy yard touchdown drive. He completed a
forty two yard pass to Diami Brown, and then Daniels
(26:29):
capped off the drive with a three yard touchdown run.
Coming up at the top of the hour, Caleb Williams
and his Chicago Bears visit the Buffalo Bills. Fellas, all
yours appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Illo up, Fellas. Though I wanted to jump into this
San Francisco conversation, I'm starting to think more and more
and listen. It's being reported that I you declined the
opportunity to see if the trade could work to go
to Cleveland. It sounds as though they were offering a
(27:00):
draft pick Amari Cooper and I heard it was a
good deal, doable deal for San fran But Ayuk does
not seemingly want to go to Cleveland. I don't know
where where that the truth of that is. I don't
know if it is true why he wouldn't want to
go to Cleveland, but that nonetheless is the report that's out.
(27:22):
Trent Williams is still out and he's waiting for a contract.
But it just seems as though Brandon Ayuk is gonna
end up being in in San France. I do not
see the Pittsburgh Steelers awarding that type of contract that
Brandon Ayuk is looking for. So I don't see how
that is going to work, even though there are a
(27:44):
lot of reports and not plexico. I know you would
know better than anyone because it's generally a lot of
the same people that are in Pittsburgh. First off, do
you think that there is the opportunity that they would
would do away with one of their top top receivers,
because it's probab gonna take another It's probably gonna take
like a Pickings or somebody to go there to bring
(28:04):
them in, all right. And then secondly, they're going to
have to award him a contract that is up there
in the range of where justin Jefferson and others or
you know, where they're at. Is this doable? This is
things like this don't happen in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
I mean, that's just the nature of who they are,
the foundation you know of this organization, They're not going
to jump out the window and sign up Brandon and
I you especially right now now that the season started,
and you already have one of the premial wide receivers
in the game and in pickings. So they they they
(28:46):
are looking at a situation to where they don't even
know who their quarterback is going to be after this season.
Nobody knows this. So I said this, Brendan and I you,
coul is not. It's not leaving Samanchisca right now, now
that the season has already started. He's going to have
to play for the fourteen million dollars or whatever his
salary is.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
They are not going to move him.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
And as far as Pittsburgh concerned, they're not going to
give up any draft picks to acquire a brand Eye
when they already have the stud wide receiver and and
uh pickings Junior.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
So I don't see I don't see it happening.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
You know their reports coming out there that are you
turned down the opportunity to go to Cleveland? I don't think.
I don't even believe that that would be an option
for Mark Cooper to to uh, for them to swap
picks and for a Mark Cooper to go to San Francisco.
So I just think brand Aw, you get stuck in
in in San Francisco. He's going to play for the
next year. He might not like it, he might be
(29:41):
upset or whatever the case may be. But if if
something does happen with a Yuk and he does not
play for the forty nine ers this year, I don't
believe that the San Francisco offense is going to be
the same without a brand A because I really feel
that the maturation of brock Purty Uh Brandon is a
(30:07):
part of that process for him to get better as
a wide receiver. You're talking about a guy who's averaged
eighteen eighteen years of catch. I mean every time he
catches the ball, it's almost like a big play. So
if you take him off of that offense, they're not
the team that you think they're going to be without Brandon.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
I you can own his roster man.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
This situation is so complex because it's been reported he
had they had to deal with New England. BA refused
to go to New England. Big money on the line,
big big money, say you go to New England though,
I mean he refused to And yeah, Cleveland, same thing.
(30:50):
And I believe, yeah, they were giving up Mary Cooper
maybe a pick that was been reported.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
I think San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
May have leaked that to make you look bad that
Cleveland was gonna give up Mariy Cooper and a second
round pick, which I thought was a lot, but they
were gonna do it. He didn't want to go to Cleveland,
and so that leaves Pittsburgh. We are one hundred percent
the Steels aren't giving up George Pickens.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
No, no, no.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
If I'm the Steelers and you say we want George Pickens,
I swear I'm hanging the phone up immediately. There's no
more conversation. If there's the conversation is over because now
you think I'm an idiot, you don't respect me, And
so that would that would never happen. And it seems
as if when you look, when you gotta look at
(31:38):
what's going on in whose teams? So when when you
go you just look at Cleveland. If you go to Cleveland,
Miles Garrett makes a ton of money, so you can
pay I use a good amount of money because he's
not gonna be paid more than Miles Garrett because he's
a franchise on that team. Deshaun Watson makes a lot
of money. He's not gonna be paid more than Sean Watson.
(31:58):
You see where I'm going. So now when you go
just just start looking at numbers. When you say you
go to the Steelers, who's the best player on Pittsburgh Steelers, TJ.
TJ Watt? You not how much money TJ Watte makes
a year. I'm gonna say TJ.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
Whitt. I know I'm not gonna say I looked it up. TJ.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
Watt makes twenty eight million a year, So is not
Ayuk isn't getting a dollar more than that. So I'm
gonna say you is gonna fall somewhere in the twenty sevens.
That that may be a problem because the Steelers aren't
going to pay him more than their best player, who
is TJ.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
Whte. That's how these teams operate.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
I'm not bringing a guy in and paying him more
than our best player. And so I believe his best
situation is in San Francisco. I believe San Francisco they
lose a youth. That offense is dropping. This dude had
almost fourteen hundred yards on one hundred and five targets
one hundred Cede Lamb had one hundred Ceedee Lamb had
(33:01):
one hundred and seventy one targets and he has seventeen
hundred yards. So if you give me a sixty six
more targets, you don't think he can get four hundred yards.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
So the Niners need to figure this out.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
I believe he wants to stay in San Francisco, but
Kyle Shanahan ain't a punk man like Kyle Shanahan is
tired of this. He wants this to be over right,
and so he's gonna voice his opinion about it.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Well, right now, two of his best players are are
not practicing with the team. We didn't talk about Trent
Williams very much, but let me tell you something, No,
Trent Williams, you got problems.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
Trump Williams is the best player. He is the best
player on that team. You're gonna run into some problems
with that. And your boy just had a lower leg
calf injury.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
You know. We there have been a ton of injuries
that trick Christian McCaffrey has dealt with. So that's going
to be one to look at. Because lower leg injuries
this early in the season, that doesn't sound like that's
a good good thing. Either he may push through, may
get through it, but that's none of the LeVar never
(34:13):
really a good thing.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
He also had a ton of touches last year, and
he was against his career. He was he was remarkably
healthy last year, but he had a ton of touches
last season.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Yeah. Well, we're gonna have to wait and see what
happens with the San Francisco forty nine ers and also
what plays out with the Dallas Cowboys. We're gonna take
a quick break. On the other side of the break, Wow,
Justin Fields, what you're whirling about?
Speaker 4 (34:39):
This unnecessarily, unnecessarily rough in the passer? Does this happen? Unbelievable?
Speaker 2 (34:45):
Yeah, well, you know that's that's standard for for the course.
It's interesting hearing the offensive players say, Justin Fields, we'll
talk about his debut as a stealer quarterback. On the
other side of the break, you're listening up on games
d J. Hitchman's eyes Plex, it's LeVar Arrington, it's Fox
Sports Radio. Go go a go a go a go go.
(35:08):
All right, y'all listen, had a lot to talk about
in the first hour. We are in the tyrack dot
Com studios. So make sure you check out the podcast
if you missed anything on hour one and if you
just want to listen to it again, you know you
could check it out. It'll go up shortly after the show. Yeah,
(35:28):
just search up on game wherever it is you get
your podcasts, and then be sure to follow rate and
review as well. Again, that's search up on Game wherever
it is you get your podcasts from fellas Justin Fields,
I mean, it wasn't a horrible It wasn't a horrible day.
It was five or six for sixty seven yards. It
(35:49):
looked like to me he could have been a little
bit more comfortable in the game. It looked like he
kind of got stuck on reads a little bit. And
that one sack that took place, it looks like he
kind of held the ball a little long. People weren't
blown away by him. Russell Wilson was named the starter
of this team. How do y'all see this plan out
(36:10):
for for Justin Fields in Pittsburgh? I thought Justin Fields
played well, okay, I really I really did.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Perspective and you're gonna say he wasn't five for six,
he was six for six. The rest blew that call.
The receiver had two feet inbounds. They called it an
incomplete pass that should have been an income I mean
a complete pass where he.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Was six for six Tomlin. Because it was a third down.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
I don't know why Tomlin didn't challenge it, but that
was a complete pass out outside outside of the two fumbles.
Because you know, I said, I thought he played pretty well.
That that center quarterback exchange. That should be almost automatic.
You should be able to do that with your eyes closed.
And so that to me is what I would like
to see fix. And you know they'll fix it. But
(36:55):
why was that happening? Why was that taking place? And
you're constantly in practice with this center, Why can't we
figure out the quarterback center exchange.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
The sacks on third down?
Speaker 3 (37:05):
I thought I felt on one of them, the tackle
just got beat extremely fast. The other one, yes, he
did hold onto the ball was man. The man coverage
receivers got to get open. But I thought this was
some of the best football I've seen justin Field's played.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Do y'all feel like centers are uncomfortable with hands on
their on their lower lower you know, undercarriage nowadays, because
nobody does. They've been doing this, they've been doing this
their whole life. Almost nobody does it anymore. Everybody does
shotgun snaps, pistol snaps. You know, nobody's under center anymore.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
It's like it's Pittsburgh is and so you've been doing
this all the training camp.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
You know that fingertap can make things uncomfortable.
Speaker 3 (37:44):
You know, man, you can come all of them, are
you just dude?
Speaker 2 (37:50):
I'm just asking. I mean, maybe he felt a little
uncomfortable and then he you know, and he snapped the
ball wrong, you know, and maybe Justin Fields felt uncomfortable
in lost Conte stregon on what ball to grab? You
know what I mean happened.
Speaker 4 (38:03):
I mean it's the first, the first p Sason game, man,
so you know everything is not going to be as
sharp as it needs to be, you know, uh, you know,
like it's going to be in the regular season. But
it's like TJ said me, and you know, other than
the sack and you know, the quarterback center change. I
mean I think Justin Fields went out and played the
(38:23):
Justin Fields you know type of game we.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
Got two minutes? Can he beat out? Can they can?
Can Justin Fields beat out Russell Wilson? Yeah he can?
Speaker 4 (38:34):
I mean you can't say that one is, you know,
that much better right now their careers than the other.
So I believe that Pitts purg can go either way,
and it doesn't matter who they name the starter. I
really believe that they're going to be the same football team.
You know why he can.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
You know why he can because the man that's making
the decision said he can, Mike Mike Thomlin said it's
a it's a quarterback competition. So as long as Mike
Tomlin is saying it, uh.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
He can.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
I mean, Labar masks the question, I mean, what does
one quarterback bring to this offense that the other doesn't.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
I would just say experience. That's the one thing I
would say jumps out. That's the glaring, glaring experience to
get you one game, that's all you all got to
go out and perform. Yeah, I don't know if he
can stay healthy. I don't know if Russell Wilson is
as good. I know he has thrown for a lot
of yards. Even in Denver, he threw for a lot
of yards. I think he can get the offense going
(39:37):
in off the ground. But I'm better than justin fields.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
Right, going back to the situation, if I'm a wide
receiver in free agency, Pittsburgh is not a destination right now,
not at all. It's just not from a quarterback standpoint.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
Now. I'm talking about this year.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
I have no idea what their plans are for after
the season because I don't believe either one of those
guys will be there.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Hmm. Hey, I'm with you on that.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
Like you going to Pittsburgh, who's gonna be your quarterback?
George like It is stuck there and George Pixons he's
a dog, he's just animal. Justin Fields has an opportunity
to change the trajectory of his career. Arthur Smith is
a really good offensive coordinator. He turned Ryan tanney Hill around.
He could turn Justin Fields around. Also, well, you know
(40:24):
what we're gonna do. We're gonna turn this this show
around for hour two. So we're gonna take a quick break.
This is up on Game, that's TJ, that's Plex. I'm
LeVar Fox Sports Radio, Hour two coming at you.
