Speaker 1 (00:26):
We are live at the American Century Championships. Taylors doing
that thing that pisses me off again, and that thing
is just so we're clear. Jerome Bettis walks by and
he doesn't ask Jerome Bettis to come on the show.
He just says, go Notre Dame. And he just told
Tony Romo, who walked by, it's your tornament to lose.
How is that getting Tony Romo on the show? That
(00:48):
is setting the scene With Tony, I would say you're
setting the scene, except you have a history here. I'm
a day remove from saying how proud I am of you,
and I'm still proud of you. But you're listen. There
is setting the scene and then you have to follow up.
So you did set the scene by saying Tony, it's
your tournament to lose, he laughed. We had a couple
of minutes together. There was a moment there, But then
(01:09):
you have to follow up and say, Tony, can you
come on the show.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
You're not gonna do that?
Speaker 4 (01:15):
Yeah, yeah, so your credit. Yeah, I'm setting the table.
I'm not coming back to eat at the table.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Right, So you want me to come back and eat
at the table like I'm supposed to go up to
the guest to be like, hey, I'm with the producer
who said it's your tournament to lose.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Do you remember that has been my go to move
this entire tournament. When I see people, I just say
you're tournament to lose. But with Tony Romo, yeah, I
actually believe it. This is Tony Romo tournament to lose.
The tea in Tony Romo stands for tournament to lose.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I gotta be honest. There's a guy out here. I
have no idea who he is, but he's got a
hair button. Have you seen him?
Speaker 1 (01:48):
He has been hitting balls relentlessly for five hours, and
I think when you have a hair bun, there is
an expectation that comes with you being a good golfer.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
He looks like Miguel Angel Jimenez. Serious, No, I haven't
seen that. You haven't seen it. Okay, Well, he's.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
And perfect par for the course. One might say he's
no longer here, he moved to the putting green. But
Romola is here. He's doing lungees. He's getting ready for
the tournament. Taylor still paying attention to soccer, and the
rest of you are not. But Taylor is the quarterfinals
start today. You have tears for the quarterfinals, don't you.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
So this is updating my current tears from the round
of thirty two to just check in se see how
my tears are doing. Okay, because not to pat myself
on the back, right, they've been next to flawless.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Okay, I'm listening. My bracket is perfect. I mean, just
so we're clear.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
On the topic of not to pat myself on the
back athletes if they were named after being proud of yourself, Yeah,
pat myself on the back McAfee.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Jesus Christ, I mean you're proud of that one. Just
thump it really? Jerome I said, no, Notre Dame. I said,
Let's go Irish.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Yeah, oh you did. I'm sorry I got it wrong.
Let's go Irish.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Even worse. So that's the key.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
If you asked a bunch of the golfers out here
at America Century Championship, yeah, they all would think that
I went to their alma mater, because I just know
where everybody went. So if I see Patrick Peterson, I
drop a go Tigers, I got, and then he gives
me the head nod and says, go Tiger's back.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
I'm familiar with your moves.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
And if I see Steph Curry, I say, let's go Davidson,
thank you for putting on for our small college. And
he's like, wow, this guy went to Davidson and he's like, no,
I just wanted to feel a little connection team, Right.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
You try to make connection points and then I have
to go eat at the dinner table.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Right.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
The hair bun guy is now currently over at the
chipping and putting green. I mean, I'm putting a flyer
on him. I don't know who he is or if
he's in the tournament.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
I have no idea.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
He could just be a pro here. What would you
say to that guy if you want love a hair
bun guy?
Speaker 4 (03:50):
Yeah, I would have to think on the fly. One
of my favorite moments from yesterday Trey Wingo was warming
up on the driving range and somebody came up to
Trey wing Go and said, sorry, sir, the driving ranges
for celebrities only. And Trey wingohead to look at the
guy and say, buddy, I'm in the tournament, I'm in
the field. It was like at the NBA parade where
(04:11):
the police officer tackled Tyler Kohleik yeah, because he was like,
no way, Tyler Kohleck is on the Knicks championship team, right.
I feel like Trey Wingo the way he was striping
it out there. Yeah, he's good. That guy who's telling him,
that guy who came up to him and try to
kick him off the driving range. You should know who
Trey Wingo is.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
You really should well, I mean debatable. How old was
the guy he was?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
He was fairly old he was.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
He would have definitely been in that prime ESPN Sports
Center window when Trey Wingo was dominating it.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Speaking to old man. If I hear one more person
over the age of thirty.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Yell stuff stuff staff, sign my staff. Listen. If you're
under ten, it's okay.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
If you're above twenty or twenty five years old, I
am telling you right now, I'm looking right in the
camera when I say this, get a life.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Seriously, you are begging. You're an adult.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
You are begging Steph Curry for an autograph at a
golf tournament.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
What are you doing? Would you want to be Steph Curry?
Speaker 4 (05:14):
No, So there's two the money out asked, there's two
separate questions. Would I want Steph Curry's bank account?
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Of course? Yes, yes.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Would I want to be Steph Curry this week in
Tahoe where it feels like I can't walk? Yeah, five
feet without being surrounded? Right, No, I would not want that.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
I got to be honest with you. Seth Curry should
be thanking Steph at every turn. Yes, Seth has made
a lot of money. Yeah, well, Seth deserves it.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
He's made a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
He's an NBA player, He's the top one percent of
the one percent. Del Curry as well, Yes, his dad.
But like Steph walks by, no one wants to talk
to Seth. And I think that's a much like I'd
rather have a little less money, And in Seth's case,
it's a lot less money, but it's still a lot
of money. I'd rather have a little less money than Steph,
and I'd have to deal with the celebrity of being Steph.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
You know. So what's your guests for?
Speaker 4 (05:58):
I have Steph Curry's and Seth Curry's career earnings according
to spo track. Yeah, what's your guest for Steph Curry's
career earnings? I mean four hundred million dollars fairly close?
Five hundred and thirty two million dollars, Okay, nearly well,
not nearly north of half half a billion dollars.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Yes, just in just in salary alone, right.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
So five thirty two I'll compare it to Seth Curry.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Let mean, guess although on Seth Curry, I'm guessing is made.
I want to say ninety three million dollars.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Cut that number in about half fifty one point six
million dollars.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Fifty one point six all right, So I'm going to
go around the room. We're outside. It's weird to go
around the room, Neil. Just a shake of your head.
Just one finger for Steph, two fingers for for Seth.
Would you rather be Steph Curry with five hundred and
thirty two million dollars banked or Seth Curry with fifty
one point six million dollars.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Banked a defined vote for Steph Curry.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
All right, that's wan for Steph. Let's go to Matt here,
our camera guy.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
He's given a one for step You have to deal
with a thirty Steph Steph everywhere you go.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Yeah, okay, he's still taking Steph Curry.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
I said he would walk in with earbuds. That's really
you know what they say, stal what more money, more problems?
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Yeah, yeah, and more fame, more problems, you know. I mean,
fifty one point six million dollars. You could lift two lifetimes,
three four or five six lifetimes up fifty one point
six million dollars.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
So for me, I'm choosing Seth Curry if I don't
see the money in front of me, Because once you
put the money in front of me, I think, all
of a sudden, I'm going to be singing a different tune. Right,
If you put over five hundred million dollars in front
of me, I'm probably going to pick the Steph Curry
path figure out how to deal with the fame and
the success that kind of comes with it.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Okay, but he deals with it well, by the way,
he's fantastic. He is unbelievable. Yes.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
I mean, if you're a thirty two year old man
and you're sad and have no life and you're begging
for an autograph, Steph's gonna sign it. I approve of it.
I've seen him do it every single year out here.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
A adult autograph seekers are a different tier of human beings.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Lad listen, if you're trying to get your autograph, you know,
for a kid for a kid, and your kids shy
and doesn't want to deal with it, that's understandable. But
I am telling you most of the people out here
are trying to get them.
Speaker 5 (08:14):
For their kids.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
They're trying to get it, and then you're going to
see that autograph later on eBay and Steph knows that. Yes,
that's why I think he would only be signing for
kids at that point, Well he was. I think he
was only signing for kids, or if it was a dad.
It's kind of like me and you.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
You're great at saying, hey, can I get the autograph,
and then I actually have to go through the execution
of getting him to sign the piece of paper.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
I could see you having a business, yeah, wrangling up
all the local kids in your neighborhood. Bringing them to
an event like this, you know, getting them to get
the Steph Curry autographs. Yeah, and then keeping the profits
fifty to fifty with the other parents.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
I'm ashamed. I haven't thought of it yet.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Just find a bunch of kids, yes, get them all
to bring basketball.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Adorable kids, yes, kids that stuff will not say no
to or anyone here. Take those autographs from those kids,
sell them on eBay, and I'm.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Thinking fifty to fifties a little bit much.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
It's a kid, yeah, yeah, I mean think of like
seventy thirty, eighty, twenty ninety ten.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Possibly.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
In fact, I'm thinking I'll never get the kid a penny.
I mean I took him the top.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Anyway.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Let's get back to your tears here. Oh here's Smulty. Wow, Malty,
I mean could win Listen.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Smallt, you could win this tournament this week.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
This is what he does.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
This is what he does, you know, because he knows
you're insincere. Listen, and he's got headsets in as Matt,
He's not even listening to us. Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Listen, Smallt.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
I'm putting a flyer on Smoltz because if you're out
here this late in the uh in the proceedings and
you're working on your game.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
This thing means something to you, and it means something
that John Smoltz. I don't know who the other guy
is out.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
There, but this thing means also one piss that we got.
We got josted by Mike McDonald yesterday. I mean, Jesus Christ.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
I'm still hopeful. Yeah, that Mike McDonald comes. No, are
you No?
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Not really.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
I was just trying to tell you what I thought
you wanted to hear, and I thought you would want
to hear that. I still thought Mike McDonald could come. Yeah,
he looked right through us. He said, just going to
drop my bag off real quick. And then once he
said I'm going to drop my bag off real quick,
me and you turned to each other and said, he's
not coming back.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
Josted.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Listen, I don't care. I mean that guy probably walked away.
Say no, that's Stegatska. Yeah, I've heard of him. I
won with his quarterback. That's all I wanted to talk
to him about, is how he felt about winning with
my quarterback, Sam Donald. That's the quarterback that the Jets
were supposed to win with. But with the Jets, what
are your tears here for the World Cup that no
(10:47):
one cares about it anymore in the United States.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
So my tears were pretender contender dark Horse could make noise,
just happy to be here. Okay, that was from the
round of thirty two. I had four teams in the
tender tier, okay, Brazil. Brazil lost to Norway in the
round of sixteen, so you were right. Portugal. Portugal lost
to Spain in the round to sixteen, so you were right.
The one I was probably the most right about Germany.
(11:10):
Germany loses in the round to thirty two to Paraguay.
The one problem with the pretender tier, England is still
hanging around.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Oh wow, And you had them as pretenders, right The
pretender always sneaks through though you know that, yes, right.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
So, and then in my contender tier all three are
still alive. France, Spain, and then, by the grace of
God aka FIFA with the assist Argentina, oh wow, snuck
by Egypt.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
You feel like you feel like there was some cheating
going on there, some of the farious stuff happening with
the referees and taking goals off the board for Egypt.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
I'm not saying there was, yeah, but the Egypt coach,
through a translator, I could assume was saying a lot
that there was some He was basically saying, the tournament
needs Messy, the tournament wants Argentina. The tournament's going to
do whatever they need to do to make sure Argentina
gets to the next round. Why did we even show
up today?
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Yeah, I mean that's probably what they're saying on ninety
four nine, the Sphinx and Cairo.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
Right, And you know what I would tell the coach
he gave up three goals in a fourteen minute stretch.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
I'm with Trey Wingo. You had a two nothing league
of how much time? Let play some defense.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Park the boss, play some defense, still playing the referees.
That was a problem. They parked the boss.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
What do you mean that's the problem. That's what you're
supposed to do. I put all put everyone in goal.
If I were them just locking arm in.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
Army, it's like the we are the World commercial. Yeah,
that's how you want us to play goal?
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Yes, if Egypt, if that goal is so, it's right,
they would have won three two right, three two?
Speaker 2 (12:36):
All right? So Messi's gonna win that boot, right.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
It seems like it's a tight race right now between
Imbape Holland. Speaking of Holland my dark horses, I had
Norway in my dark horse. He did when I gave
them out. I believe they were plus three thousand to
win the tournament. And people right now, people are falling
in love with Earl and Holland. People that don't watch
the Premier League, Yeah, because they're watching him and they're like,
(12:58):
this guy by himself is going to drag this Norway team.
The comparison is like that twenty eleven Auburn Tigers team
where it was just Cam gaming by himself, Cam Newton
by himself. That's exactly what this Norway team is with Holland.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Yes, and he hunts, he hunts and kills his own dinner. Yes,
as we have discussed. So those are your tiers. Huh.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
So I lost Columbia who was in my dark horse tier.
Columbia lose its to Switzerland. Switzerland was probably the team
I was the most wrong about. I said Switzerland was
just happy to be here. Switzerland is a lot better
than just happy to be here. They have a very
strong defense, could make some noise. They're now being upgraded
to the could make some noise tier, but they're also
playing Argentina on Saturday, so it's kind of a push.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Meets push meats shove. You're tired Thursday, I'm picking deep.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Do you think, like, what do you think the ratings
are going to be for the World Cup in the
US moving forward here now that.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
We're out of it.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
I would say there's still gonna be pretty good, only
because the teams left are great teams, the players that
are left are great players, and there's nothing going on.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
In the world of sports, you know, So the further
the tournament gets, I do think that the viewing is
going to be pretty strong still, just because you have
France and and Bape, you have Lemina mal in Spain,
you have England and Norway. England always that believes it's
coming home really hasn't been coming home since the sixties,
Norway with Holland, and then of course Messi on Saturday
(14:30):
night Saturday Night football, right, So there are plenty of
storylines still in this World Cup. And the further you
get along, you're assuming a team like Argentina keeps progressing.
You're assuming a team like France with Imbappi keeps progressing.
If you could start getting some of those superstar wars,
superstar matchups. I think it's going to draw in even
the casual viewers.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
I think the Egyptian coach said something along the lines
of will settle this off the field?
Speaker 2 (14:57):
This is the problem with soccer. Man.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
It's like, I don't know, something feels wrong about the
entirety of the FIFA, of the World Cup, of coaches
wanting to take matters into their own hands.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
I mean, what I'm noticing with soccer when it comes
to the world called current national competition. Besides that it's corrupt.
It feels like everybody makes empty promises, because including the
United States men's team. Anyway, when when the flow Balwigan
red card got reversed, the Belgium coach was like, if
you start flow balwigin, we are going to explore other
(15:32):
options to see what we have. And it's like, what
do you mean You're gonna explore.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
How can you explore other options? Now we're in the
fifth game of the tournaments? What other options are there?
Speaker 2 (15:42):
Well? There are other options, I mean.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
The best bring a guy in off the streets, yes,
why did he make the team in the first place?
Speaker 4 (15:50):
And it's like, what you're making these empty promises. You
should have just came out if you were that Belgium
coach and said, United States flow balgin, no balgain, We
are going to smash you, because.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
That's exactly what happened.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
Yes, yes, Belgium was in my could make noise here,
by the way, which so is the USA.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
All right. I have a different exet of tears.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
There are tears that are streaming down my cheeks because
Taylor just yells out go irish when Jerome Bettis walks by.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
Live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Very excited for this. Dreams do come true. Last year
I came out here Dylan Dreyer with us from the
Today Show. Last year I told Taylor, my producer here,
the only person I wanted on was you, which is
bless shocking to me. You are my wife's favorite television personality.
She watched you every single morning. She adores you, she
loves you. She listens to the podcast, the parent Chat
(16:49):
podcast that you've started here.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Thank you IV.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
We'll talk about that in the second but we didn't
get you on last year, so I was forced to
come back this year.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
Well I'm glad you did.
Speaker 6 (16:57):
Yes, I was just saying anyway, like imposters since group
when I'm here, because it's all these athletes, it's all
these like super famous people and me, and so you
make me feel better about myself.
Speaker 5 (17:09):
So thank you.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Well, well you're welcome. You're a big star. You know
that you really are. Where did your love of golf start?
If you don't buy me.
Speaker 6 (17:18):
As you know, it's probably like I don't I guess
now fifteen years ago. I just I love to play sports,
you know, but there's no pickup game of field hockey
happening anymore, right, Like once my days of field hockey
are done, it's over. So I got a set of clubs.
It took some lessons, like I really like this. I've
(17:38):
never been able to commit the amount of time to
it that I would like to, you know, because as
soon as I really started getting into it, I moved
to New York. It's sort to golf when you live
in the city. I had three kids. It's really hard
to golf when you have three little kids and not
feel guilty about all the time you're spending away from them.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
So that's I have twin girls. That's the problem.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
You're on the course for three and a half hours.
You're like, I should be spending time with my kids.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
Not quick.
Speaker 6 (18:00):
When we live in the city, it's then an hour
and a half traffic for two hours. So I play
about as good as I should for as much as
should I play. But yeah, I just I love it.
I love the competition, I love being outside. I love
the people you meet through golf, and it's it's special.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
So you're not playing in the tournament this year though,
I'm not so what happened?
Speaker 4 (18:20):
Then?
Speaker 6 (18:21):
My niece I knew she was getting married in July, Like,
what are the chances it's the same weekend, Like there's
no way it would be again, sure enough it's the
same exact weekend.
Speaker 5 (18:33):
And my brothers he's awesome.
Speaker 6 (18:35):
My brother is He's like, listen, if this is something
you got to do for work, like you know, you
really should do it. And I could have played up that, yeah,
I really need to be there for work hard, but
I knew better he was actually going to come out
with me because I'm you know, doing the pro ams
and all that kind of stuff for today and tomorrow.
He was going to come as my caddie so see
how cool it was, but his wife wouldn't let him.
He's like, no, this golf tournament does not get to
(18:58):
like rule this wedding.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Wait, were you hoping to bring him out as a
caddy so he could see how cool?
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Wasn't any to cancel the wedding?
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Yeah, did your niece's wedding?
Speaker 5 (19:08):
A part of me was really open, but it actually
works out.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
It's up in Oregon, right, so Friday morning, I'm just
going to drive up there.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
So, oh that's up bad. Yeah, so you played today,
you'll play tomorrow and then you'll go tomorrow night, right.
Speaker 6 (19:20):
And then I know you what's up?
Speaker 2 (19:24):
I love this event so much I really never know
just walk.
Speaker 6 (19:27):
I know.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
It's the greatest thing ever. Yes, yes, thank you for
telling our audience who that was. By the way, that
it was supposed to be my job, but I'm starstruck
right now.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 6 (19:36):
It's to name drop on the fly right right, It's
like I hate doing that. It could be my best
friend for twenty years and if she walks by, it'd
be like, what is your name?
Speaker 5 (19:45):
I can't remember?
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Yes, so, so your niece had no idea that this
weekend was like time a weekend.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
I mean, I mean even the Kelsey's figured that out.
Speaker 5 (19:55):
That's true.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
Yes, yeah, so we'll drive up there Friday. But at
least I get to be here. I get to do
karaoke Thursday night, which is fun, so much fun.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
So I get to do a lot of the fun
stuff without the stress of really sucking at golf.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
How magical is this place, Dylan, It's I mean, look at.
Speaker 5 (20:09):
This, It's not a cloud in the sky.
Speaker 6 (20:11):
The temperature couldn't be more perfect right now, right, and
it's it's just it's like summer camp for adults. Everybody here.
It's kind of lawless, yes, right. You kind of leave
the families and the kids at home and you just
have fun for a few days.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
Yeah, it's amazing, Dylan. What is your go to karaoke song?
Good question.
Speaker 6 (20:27):
Well, my go to is we didn't start the fire
Billy Joel Nice. I did that two years in a row,
and I'm like, I need a new song, so I've
kind of changed it up doing some Billy idol this year.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Oh, very nice. Yeah, Yes, you don't want to give away.
Speaker 5 (20:43):
It's money Money.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Oh really, that's a great karaoke song.
Speaker 6 (20:47):
I guess you have to get the audience in right,
because I can't sing. And when I first do karaoke here,
I thought it was like traditional karaoke, right, like.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
You kind of our a little offt tune. Everybody's you know,
not great.
Speaker 6 (20:59):
And then all of a sudden, like Alfonso Roberto's up
there like just entertaining, entertaining, and I mean Jake Owen
was up there and it's like, oh, he's singing sublime right,
like this is really cool. And then I'm gonna go
up there no, like, this is not what I signed
up for. So I need to get the crowd involved
so that they feel the joy that you feel up
(21:19):
there on stage.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
And yeah, we'll see how it goes through.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
The cast of the Today Show. Of all the memory,
who's the best singer?
Speaker 6 (21:26):
Best singer would probably be Savannah Really she can play
the guitar too, get out of here.
Speaker 5 (21:32):
Yeah, so she's like talented, wow, but she's.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
More like.
Speaker 6 (21:37):
I would say folksy, right, like she's up there singing
like some folk music. She's got a good voice, like
a soulful voice. She's playing the guitar, yes, I think
that's more her speech.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
I can actually hear her doing that, yeah, right, like acoustic.
Speaker 5 (21:50):
Right, Yes, that would be her jam.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
I think, is there is there ever? Like? What time
do you wake up every day to go?
Speaker 1 (21:57):
I always meant to ask you this because I'm wondering
if there's ever if you ever get used to waking
up at whatever time it is you're about to tell us.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
You wake up at.
Speaker 6 (22:03):
So I my normal shift, I get up at five ten, okay,
if I fill in for al Roker, I get up
at three fifty five. Oh wow, So yesterday literally got
up at three fifty five, worked flew here, picked up
all my credentials and all that, and went to bed
at eleven thirty at night my Pacific time, right.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Which is two thirty years time.
Speaker 6 (22:22):
So I almost hold an all nighter. Wow, you know,
just with the time difference.
Speaker 5 (22:26):
And then you golf.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
You know.
Speaker 6 (22:27):
I woke up at six o'clock this morning, So yeah,
I don't sleep that much.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
But there's no getting used to that, right, Like you're
always looking at the clock.
Speaker 6 (22:33):
You just you learn to function at a level of tiredness.
Speaker 5 (22:38):
This is just the way it is.
Speaker 7 (22:39):
You know.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
You take your naps when you can.
Speaker 6 (22:41):
I have like a forty five minute car ride into
work in the morning. They send a driver for us,
so I just fall asleep in the car. I know
where I can squeeze in my naps.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
How important is that off camera bond that you guys have,
because when you're watching the Today Show, the chemistry feels
so often it's amazing.
Speaker 6 (22:58):
We This sounds so cheesy, but we love each other
like we have so much fun. Like if Craig Melvin
showed up right now, it would just be.
Speaker 5 (23:06):
Like, hey, what's up.
Speaker 6 (23:08):
We'd be ragging on each other. It's a very brother
sister kind of relationship. There's a lot of teasing. And
there are some people who watch that and think we're
being mean to each other, but like I think, for
all of.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Us, no friends are mean to each other.
Speaker 7 (23:19):
Yes, that's how we show our love of us intimacy.
Speaker 5 (23:22):
Yes, maybe we're not the close friends.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
Insults all the language of intimacy amongst friends exactly right.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
And it's so much fun.
Speaker 6 (23:30):
And we've worked together for so long now that we
know each other's inside jokes, so we And that's that's
where I think chemistry is special and Auroch is really
good at it, Like he knows what you want to say,
He's going to tee you up so that you can
say it. And I think that's where it works because
we're all helping each other out.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
Do you still pinch yourself like every day? Because I
remember when I got to ESPN, I would pinch myself
every single day. I can't believe I'm doing this. Do
you still have those moments?
Speaker 5 (23:57):
It fun?
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Yes? And I'm getting paid for this, I know.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
And then you asked me to do even more fun things.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
Technically I'm working right Kentucky Derby, Okay.
Speaker 6 (24:07):
Sure, Royal Ascott out in London is my favorite thing
to cover.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
And I'm like out there just having.
Speaker 6 (24:13):
An apparel sprints and fish and chips and I'm like,
I'll pay with.
Speaker 5 (24:16):
My corporate correct.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Sure, I'm here for work.
Speaker 6 (24:19):
I mean, it's it is and I'm so blessed. And
you know, everybody's like, how do you do it every day?
And it's like, because it's so much fun, Yes, you don't.
You don't care about the hours because as soon as
you show up to work, you're all laughing and having
a good time.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Amazing, goodhead.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Yeah, Dylan. Before we wrap, we have a game called
dill in for dill out.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
Yes, it's very difficult game.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
So dyla in means you agree with whatever it is,
he's going to ask you why Mike explaining it to
you deal out there.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
It makes sense people.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
Who get mad at meteorologists when they get the weather
wrong dell in or della out.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
How often do you get that though, Like people get
mad at me if I tell them to pick.
Speaker 6 (24:54):
The wrong tea right, people just assume you're wrong all
the time. They never compliment to you, and you're right right,
and you know you're you're asking me for a specific.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
Moment of the day. But in general, we're kind of
right a lot more than people give us credit for.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Yes, if you've seen one firework, you've seen them alltll out.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
We had a lot of well yeah, a lot of
people were mad at us for the stake.
Speaker 5 (25:16):
Yes, hey are you guys?
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Fireworks are a little overrated.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
We do.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
We do feel like, in the spirit of being honest here,
we feel like if you've seen one, you've seen them all.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
You know, but we haven't hosted the you know, the
Macy's Day.
Speaker 5 (25:27):
You know what.
Speaker 6 (25:28):
I will retract my answer because if I was laying
in bed and I heard fireworks out the window.
Speaker 5 (25:35):
Would I get up for them?
Speaker 4 (25:36):
No?
Speaker 5 (25:36):
Right, but because of the kids.
Speaker 6 (25:38):
Yes, I will get up and wake them up and
be like, you got to see it. So kids helped
me see fireworks in all new light. And I will say,
getting to do the Macy's fireworks. I don't know what
those fireworks are on, but they have like so much
more popes, brighter, like you feel it vibrating in your chest.
Like being there for the Macy's fireworks is a lot
of fun. Yes, but twenty minutes, it's like, we get
(26:01):
the point.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Go ahead, Tyl.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
Ordering a Shirley Temple at an open bar wedding.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Just so you know, my producer right here, he's young, Okay,
he's thirty years old.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
He went to an open bar wedding and he ordered
a Shirley Temple and I have it now.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
Our tender looked at me like I had three heads.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
And little do we know there's a Shirley Temple like
Coult out there who takes this thing very seriously. They
love Taylor Taylor's the Shirley Temple cast.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (26:27):
When I was pregnant, that was my go to bar
order was a Shirley Temple.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
Right, there is a dirty Shirley.
Speaker 6 (26:33):
We could put vodka into a Shirley temple, okay, but
just a straight up Shirley temps.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Straight up at an open bar?
Speaker 5 (26:39):
Is it because of the cherries?
Speaker 4 (26:40):
I wanted to get a little crazy, but I didn't
want to sprite or a coach.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
I went with a Shirley Temple.
Speaker 6 (26:45):
I'm Dylan for that. I love a Shirley Temple so good.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
The last one we have the person who gives you
golf advice when you didn't ask for golf advice.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
There's no way you do that. By the way, right,
you're not offering a golf advice to people.
Speaker 5 (27:01):
Will not offer anyone my golf advice.
Speaker 6 (27:05):
It depends if it's like, you know, you're paired up
with the group and you don't know the guy, and
you know he's the cocky guy of the group who
just thinks he can just chime in.
Speaker 5 (27:15):
It's like skill out.
Speaker 6 (27:17):
But when I just played at the Travelers program with
Jim Furick and then I got to play with Keith Mitchell,
they were offering me advice.
Speaker 7 (27:26):
Yes, please, I will take it off right aga professional, Yes,
a major winner.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Jim Perik's case real quick on the way out here.
What are the keys to a great weather report? The
keys the keys to.
Speaker 5 (27:38):
A great weather report? To couch it a little. You
don't want to You don't want.
Speaker 6 (27:44):
To give too many specifics, right, unless it's like a
hurricane or something.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
Right, but like very general chance of rain, there's a
chance of rain evening means there's also a chance that
it won't rainey, Right, You've covered yourself.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Yes, yes, So.
Speaker 5 (27:56):
Don't get too specific. People will get mad at you.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
All right, it's talk about it if you wouldn't mind.
Because again, it's my wife's favorite thing, the parent chat.
The new podcast.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
That is it new? It's a new Puss.
Speaker 5 (28:05):
It's fairly new, really good.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Yeah, tell us about that. She loves it. She's listened
to every episode. She keeps telling me to listen. I'm like, listen,
my kids are out of the house. I'm good for younger,
younger kids.
Speaker 5 (28:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (28:15):
It is like I'm just an open book and I've
put a lot of my personal life on Instagram.
Speaker 5 (28:20):
My kids.
Speaker 6 (28:21):
I just think kids are hilarious. I think they're so
funny and the things they do are just really cute
and special. So I post a lot of that stuff,
and I don't know, people just find me relatable in
the way I raise my kids. You know, I try
to do dinners at home, I cook for them every night,
and I've gotten a lot of feedback for that. So
the parent chat kind of started out of that, Like
what if we went into it a little bit more,
(28:42):
you know, people who maybe I'm wanting I want advice,
but again, nobody wants unsolicited parenting advice either, but just
to commiserate with someone, to relate to somebody.
Speaker 7 (28:51):
You know.
Speaker 6 (28:51):
I've got a really cool job and I'm very busy,
but I make my kids first and foremost front and
center all the time.
Speaker 5 (28:58):
How do I do it? Well, here's kind of how
I do it. And it's like, don't kill yourself.
Speaker 6 (29:03):
You can put your kids first, no matter how busy
you are, no matter how cool the things you are doing,
and even if your day to day is just your
I don't want to play with the kids today.
Speaker 5 (29:12):
I don't really like playing with kids either.
Speaker 6 (29:15):
Play with your kids, Yes, you gotta play, Just suck
it up and do the lego right now.
Speaker 5 (29:20):
I'll appreciate and everybody's happier for it.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Yes, I have spent many days playing. You know my
daughter's doing dolls with my daughters.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
Yeh, I know they love. They just love to do
anything with you. My secret with the kids, I love
playing cards. Like, teach them to play cards.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Get them into your games.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
Five hundred rumming, right, you have somebody who will play
with you all the time. Tables they do to.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Peanuts right at the golf, I'm assuming.
Speaker 6 (29:48):
Right, I all love golf. My kids are nine, six
and four. They they love playing. We have a little
chip and putt out by us. They all the time
we go play.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
Can we go play?
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Well done?
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Yeah, keep encouraging that now that I'm thinking of it.
My nephew once had he did during Super Bowl weekend.
He scheduled his wedding. Oh really, that's the equivalent of
what your niece just did to you.
Speaker 5 (30:07):
Yes, you can't say no.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Right, Well, he got it cheaper that weekend.
Speaker 6 (30:11):
I ourself in one of the sponsors around here, would
be like offering their private.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
Jet or something. There's a lot of private planes around here.
Speaker 7 (30:17):
I'm sure you can work that out. Del real quick.
I'll come right back. I promise I got you covered. Yeah,
what more, dealer, I was just going to say, this
has been so awesome. If you may want to bring
Dyl in or Deal out to the Third Hour show.
Speaker 5 (30:29):
I don't think.
Speaker 6 (30:30):
I wasn't thinking really you could have it, and those
were great questions.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
That's our gift to you.
Speaker 5 (30:34):
Yes, I do love it. Thank you. I'm deal in
for that game.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
Nothing would make us happier than if you stole that
and used it on the Today Show, Third Hour, Third
Hour though, Dylan, we appreciate this.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
It's been a thrill.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
I don't need to come back here anymore. I'm done. No,
I want to have you all more often. If we
can make that happen, that would be well. But thank
you for doing it this time.
Speaker 5 (30:51):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
All Right, you made my dreams come true. I'm oud
of here. People.

Dylan Dryer for joining us. That was special.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
That was a special moment for me, Taylor, A special
moment for you. I feel like I love Dylan Dryer.
Do you my wife loves Dylan Dryer.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
You weren't nearly as excited as I was headed into it,
but it seems like she exceeded every expectation that we
had for the.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Final the final game of Dylan or dill Out.
Speaker 4 (31:51):
Yes, saved it And I feel like that really won
her over with us, too, right, and.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
You feel like you deserve the credit for that, right.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
Of course, friendship budding between us. He really between us
and Dylan Dryer, the show and Dylan Dryer.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
All right.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
Well, we had a special special evening last night. We
should probably tell the audience about We talk about it
every time it's the player's meeting. It's the night before
the pro am, which is going on right now. But
we were in one of the greatest rooms in sports.
I maintained it's the greatest room in sports. And I
got to tell you, Larry David made it even greater.
(32:28):
How about that?
Speaker 4 (32:29):
What a power move by Rich Eisen show up with
Larry David.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
So I'm sitting our TV producers, our camera guys are
just realizing TV producers, we're not on television. Our camera
guys just realized that they missed out on seeing Larry David.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
I'm sorry, guys.
Speaker 4 (32:45):
Larry David was in the room where I was sitting.
In the room where I was situated, I was between
Jack Wagner and Chase Utley Special Chase Utley turned to
me and said, you playing in this tournament? And I said, Chase,
I'm honored that you think I'm a celebrity, but I'm not.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
If you're in that room, they think you're a celebrity
of some sort. Yes.
Speaker 4 (33:04):
And then Jack Wagner was sitting right next to me,
and one of the nicest people.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
I've ever met.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
He's striking up a conversation with me, and I look
at him and I say, Jack, your hair was made
for Advisor. And he put his hand on my shoulder
and he said, Taylor, that's exactly the look I'm going for.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
Yeah, you're starting to You're starting to realize what I've
been telling you about Jack Wagner for two years now.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
Right. Oh yeah, he walks.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
He walks around here, and he knows that he owns
the American Royal Championship in Lake Tahoe. But I turn
around and I see Stu Gotts, and Stu Gotts is
in between Matthew Kachuk and Miles Teller. My boys just
talking dead shows.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
I was with him.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
Well, Miles Teller had the Dead Show. He had a
dancing bear hat on. He's a big Dead fan. I've
been to a dead show Dead in Company in San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
I was.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
I was side soundboard with Miles Teller, my wife, and
Bill Waller for a Debting Company show.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
Yeah, that's a good mount Rushmore for a Debting Company show.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Take my wife out of its Like, what am I
doing here? We're hanging out with Miles Teller doing shots.
Miles is great.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
What a moment last night though, right when they announced
the newcomers, And one of the newcomers this year is
Matthew Kachuck's brother, Brady Kuldchuck.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
They do a podcast together.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
They are both Florida Panthers, but they also won the
gold medal in hockey with Matt Boldy too with Matt Boldi,
who was also playing in this tournament. When they introduced
Brady Kuld chuck the standing and talked about them bringing
home the Golden hockey first time since Lake Placid. Right,
they got a standing ovation from all the celebrities, including
(34:47):
Larry David in that room.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Goosebump moment for me, Larry David is the exact person
that his curby your enthusiasm character is because when that
standing ovation was happening, Yeah, it didn't look like Larry
David wanted to get up.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
Larry David was fighting the.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
Urge to get up, Yes, and then reluctantly he was
looking around like, I guess I'm gonna have to get up.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Yah, everybody else in the room is getting up.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
I feel like I started the standing ovation. I do
because I felt the pressure sitting.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
Next to him.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
Jump at someone and hopefully Chucky is going to join
us later today at some point.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
But I think Larry David, yes, once.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Once a couple of people stand, you feel the pressure
to stand up, And I will tell Larry and defend
Larry and.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
Say this, it is hard getting up as you get older.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Okay, it's like you're trying to limit the amount of
times you get up in any particular day and then
have to sit back down because you know what when
you sit back down, you know what that means, Teller,
you have to get back up.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
Gravity. Gravity starts working again to you the older you get.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
I also feel like Larry David feels like he deserved
a standing ovation.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
He basically got one when he was announced.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
He was upset though, he was like he could have
done better with the introduction.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
My other biggest observations from the celebrity room. Yeah, Kevin O'Connell,
Oh boy, is much taller than you, fish strapping young
lad like you forget that Kevin O'Connell was an NFL quarterback,
yeap third string put an NFL quarterback.
Speaker 7 (36:14):
None.
Speaker 4 (36:15):
The last time that felt like an unnecessary shot at
Kevin O'Connor.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
Wasn't a shot at Kevin O'Connell.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
It's my dream job to be a third string quarterback,
make millions of dollars for holding a clipboard. We've talked
about this with Chris Simms, and never get hits but.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
When you watch the broadcast of Vikings games, he doesn't
really give off like he's the tallest person out there.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Right well, he's amongst giants. He's six'.
Speaker 4 (36:35):
Five he, is he's amongst giants right, here right.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
WELL i mean he is six.' five he's a strapping.
Young LAD as i, Said before i'm putting a Flyer on.
Kevin O'Connell, oh, yeah listen.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
The guy can hit the ball.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
A mile i've never seen him hit, the Ball but
i'm telling you right now that guy can hit a
golf ball a.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
Mile long my other Biggest Observation, rob sala The new titans. Head,
coach yeah he is the best looking. Guy, here yeah
and everybody else is playing for.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
A Second, JACK wagner i mean you see him holding
court prime, For, Prime Okay.
Speaker 4 (37:05):
Jack wagner but Right now robert sal is doing it
like nobody else is doing It In tyn.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
