Speaker 4 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
Zach Brown going to join us today. Looking forward to that.
Tom Haberstrow is going to join us as well.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Country singer Zach Brown.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yes, these singers, Zach Brown. I thought we'd start heating
hornets today, but I think we own.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Apology to Ike.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
He said last week during the second round of the
Masters that Rory had won it.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
It was over.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
He was running away with it and he wasn't exactly right,
but he ended up being right.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
So our apologies to Ike.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
And again, I thought we'd start with heat and hornets
the playing game last night, but is He sends me
a note right before we get started that the live
golf story is laugh out loud funny.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
I knew I shouldn't have done that. I knew it
would take your attention away from me. I knew three
PM Eastern. It's way too late for you to go
back and recap an NBA games. So you want to
talk about Look, I just heard was that ike on
the update there? I just heard it, looked it up
and just it feels better than the heat lost felt
(01:24):
bad last night?
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Does that make sense?
Speaker 3 (01:26):
I'm giddy when I hear what all these guys who
went for all the money, the money might not be
there anymore and they might have to what come back
with their tail between their legs and say, oh, I'm sorry,
can I play in your tournaments again?
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Yes, they're playing a tournament right now for Live Golf
and Brooks captain. It makes you think, It makes you
think what it Brooks now because he came back a
couple of months ago.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Yes, exactly what a trading?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yes, go ahead.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
So John Rahm's reported deal with Live Golf was three
hundred to five hundred million. If I have to walk
with my tail tuck between my leg three hundred and
five hundred million dollars, isn't isn't the worst conslation prize.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Diamond and crusted tail between your lists.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
I'll gladly do it for three to five hundred million
dollars I'm with Tailor on that, Yes.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
But I'd like to know what that contract includes, Like,
does he guaranteed all that money if they cut the funding,
what's John Realm gonna do. Just knock on the door
of the Saudi Public Fund people be like, he Loo,
I would like the rest of my money please.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Regardless, he has haunted for the remainder of Todd, Like
he'll go back to the PGA tour and he has
friends on the tour, but they'll all look at him
cross on because he decided to do that in the
prime of his career. Just totally sold himself out. I mean,
it's unbelievable. But we have to get to heat and hornetssy,
the floor is yours. We are sorry for your loss.
(02:48):
Taylor called it before anyone else did.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Yeah, I'm not the Hornet.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
He said.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
The Hornets are going for it right now, and I
think is he The only thing you can hope for
is that the Hornets and the Knicks meet up in
the Eastern Conference finals and then Taylor's really in some
sort of conundrum.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
I mean, that's not going to happen. That is not
going to happen. The Hornets not advancing man there was
so much about that game. But Taylor put this on
the pole, if you will. Let's see if I can
word this properly. If LaMelo Ball were somehow raised not
by LeVar Ball, his father, but by Dell Curry, would
(03:28):
LaMelo Ball be the best player in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
That's a book, not a pole.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
I mean, jeez, I'll say it again and listen. If
LaMelo Ball were raised not by his father, LaVar, but
by Dell Curry, would he be the best player in
the NBA. Because Taylor and Stu answered this question for me,
(03:53):
what is LaMelo Ball's shortcoming? What is it that limits
him from being a great player?
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Shooting?
Speaker 3 (04:02):
No, he shoots great. The fact that he's a ball,
I mean, the fact that he is the ball. That's
probably the best answer. It's his personality. It's the way
he approaches basketball, right. He is an unseerious human being
and a unserious basketball player. He is. If he were
to have been brought up with a strict parent, who
(04:23):
was you know, about the team, not about selling yourself, right,
he probably wouldn't be doing all these antics. He probably
wouldn't have Well, this part, I don't know, but he
probably wouldn't have a body for the tattoos, but he
probably wouldn't play the way that he plays with just
no respect for the seriousness of the game. And that's
(04:43):
partially why he does the stupid side sweep thing of
bam Adebio and injures him for the game. But everything
about him says, I'm playing this game in a playground,
and it's so annoying because he's so bleeping talented and
he plays this real ridiculous style of game, and I'm
just wondering, like if he just grew up in a
(05:03):
different household, that's it, just grew up in a different household.
It's very nurture versus nature debate.
Speaker 6 (05:08):
But would he be the best player in the game,
because physically there is absolutely nothing limiting him from being
the best scoring guard and probably the best overall point
guard in the game.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
I gotta tell you, it's an odd time to be
lashing out of the Ball family, to mister Ball, to
Lonzo Ball, to all the balls out there. Considering that
you lost the game, and you had a ninety seven
point five percent chance of winning the game, even with
everything that transpired with about a minute thirty to go,
you should have won the game, is.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
He wait until I got to the nipples. But the
thing about well, go ahead, Taylor.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
Stull, I'm so glad that you mentioned the ESPN analytic metrics.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Yes, that is.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
My nominee for the most overrated metric in all of sports,
because in that game, somehow teams had over a ninety
five percent chance to win, and neither team won in
that situation. Yeah, that's they both had to overcome it.
So to the point where I'm like, maybe I'm just
missing you know, maybe the only time I noticed the
(06:13):
ESPN analytics is the five percent of games, and somehow
I notice every time it's in the five percent of games,
and then I'm thinking about it, I'm like, no, this
kind of seems like a trend where ESPN analytics can't
really catch up to the fact that a ten point
lead isn't really a.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Ten point aid nothing.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
It was ninety seven point five percent when the Hornets
were up six with like one forty five left, or
the Heat were up six with one forty five left.
That's a two possession game. There's no way you're telling
me it's over ninety seven percent chance.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Now, even when this is why it was so maddening
when the score, well, Amazon had technical difficulties. You can't
do that in your play like stude. There's this whole
debate in basketball right now about whether, because Mike Breen
chimed in on it on this last regular season game,
whether it's okay, whether people are happy that the national
(07:06):
broadcast have all of the playoffs because it used to
be at least a first round would be done by
your local teams. I like that. It's just feels like
your team's on a bigger stage when it's the national broadcast.
But you can't screw up like that in your first chance.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Amazon, well is he let me say this, and you're right,
you can't do that if you're Amazon. Although that's not
going to stop any of us from going to Amazon.
I went there today. I had to buy something, so
I mean, that's that's just a deal. It was a terrible,
terrible job. But Joe Buck joined me and Taylor out
in Lake Tahoe and he actually talked about this, and
he's the guy doing the national games where he doesn't
like that the local cities, the markets don't get the
(07:42):
local play by play guy for the opening rounds of
the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
He doesn't like it. Joe Buck doesn't like it. That's crazy.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, So again, as somebody like, my opinion is, if
you've been listening to your local people all year long
and you're a real fan, I'm not going to bother
you that much. I think, you know, you get a
different perspective from the nation. It feels like you're on
a bigger stage, et cetera. So it doesn't bother me
too much. But you can't have technical difficulties.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
There's a lot of talk today whether or not LaMelo
Ball should have been ejected from that game or not.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
The theory I subscribe to Stu.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Yeah, an eye for an eye.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
The second bam out of Bio was ruled out from
that game. Even if you can't go back whatever the
pool reporter is saying is the reason why they weren't
able to review that. The second bam out of Bio
was ruled out for that game. Somebody should have stopped in,
dropped the eye for an eye theory and said, bamount
of Bio's out eye for an eye, LaMelo Ball, you
are now out for the game.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Yeah, you have like a little a fluff what do
you call those? This little like a corn cornhole bag,
but it's got a picture of an eye on it
and you throw it out onto the floor and it's
just like, oh, we have an eye for an eye
claim you gotta take somebody out.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Taylor.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
I'm so glad you brought that up because I tried
to start off with the you know, the Lamello ball
stuff and just because it is it is crazy frustrating
to me that all it is is a personality thing
that would make this guy.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Get an odd time to be attacking the balls. But anyway,
keep going.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
It's not an all odd time. He took out Bam
out of Bio on a BS play, it's a perfect
time to take out the balls. But this is my
frustration with this, okay, And you touched on it, Taylor.
There was a pull reporter who asked that Zariba the
lead official, and he said another play had already happened.
Therefore you couldn't go back to there because nothing was
called there, Stu. Why does it make sense that they
(09:25):
can review it the next day, the next day to
see if Flamelo did anything wrong, but you can't review
it the next play. It's so ridiculous that the only
option that Eric Spolster had there was to run out
on the floor immediately and get a technical foul so
(09:46):
that play could stop, and then he could point to
there and say, now you have to review that. That
is so ridiculous that you can review it the next day,
but you can't during the next time out say that
was an egregious flagrant foul. Each like, I don't the
NBA needs to fix that to make it make sense
because if you again, if you can review it the
(10:06):
next day, you should be able to review it the
next play. I think Carl Douglas would like that because
it rhymes. There's no way that they shouldn't be able
to review that. It's senseless.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Isy, did you ever think that you would hear this
sentence come out of any announcer's mouth. Kobe White is
from a different planet.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
He kind of looks like he came from a different planet.
His face is a little hilarious like that. That dude
was so sick and tired of losing to the heat.
He is so sick. It was so sick and tired
of his season ending to the heat at this exact
same time of year that he's like, I'm just gonna
take everything It's so funny that I text this to Taylor.
What actually got Kobe White going in this game was
a banked in three pointer that obviously he didn't call.
(10:50):
And I want to say it was almost the very
next play, maybe a play after that. Pella Larson just
slips on a wet spot and gives the ball up
and then LaMelo gives it to Kobe for a wide
open three. Those are two accidents that happened, but they
got him going, and then he took that last shot
to take this game into overtime. It was a great,
like feel good performance for Kobe White. But yeah, it's
(11:10):
it's a little frustrating that LaMelo was in there at all.
Speaker 5 (11:12):
Stu, I know this isn't a Mount Rushmore Monday, but
I think you can make the argument today that when
it comes to playing games, Kobe White is on the
Mount Rushmore of playing games.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
The Mitchell's on there too.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Yes, we have a mister Game seven in hockey. He's
mister playing game. I mean he is.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
That's where Kobe White is at his best.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
So you have a mount Rushmore of guys a playing
game heroes teller because I can't well, I would think
who is the guy who hit the big shot before
before Kobe hit his, the Brandon Miller. He would be
on the team and he had a big three.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Is he could get that game to within reach for
the and not be the way he played. He was
so bad in the first half.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
He just kept fouling.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
He had terrible offensive foul for the third foul to
get him out of the game. That guy was not ready.
The nipple was not ready. It was not prepared. You
saw how scared he seemed to look every time they
put the camera on him. It was just not a
great and so it wasn't a great shooting performance except
for three guys on that team. Three guys hit five
three pointers and that was that was a huge difference.
(12:17):
But LaMelo Ball shouldn't have been in that game, and
it's you know, if that official can get reprimanded afterward,
it Lamello Ball could potentially, I don't think it's going
to happen, but could potentially get suspended for the next
playing game, Which how is that going to help the
Miami Heat. If all of that could happen, then that
referee should be publicly reprimanded and should be suspended as well,
(12:39):
because there's still frames of him staring right at the
play and not calling anything. Although I do want to
take credit because I told Taylor is America's team, the Hornets,
the Heat were going to be playing against the referees
as well. And there you go, he's a homer. I mean,
started Heat should have resorted to the thuggery is what
(13:00):
they should have done.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Listener, this is all I'll say. We'll take a quick
time out, We'll take some phone calls. Eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
I understand what it is you're saying. I understand why
you would be frustrated. I know that Ball committed the
foul on Bam. I know it's frustrating to lose a
guy that could score eighty three points on any given
night if the coach leaves them in too long. I
get all of that, but I don't want my best
(13:23):
players not playing in games that have stakes attached to it.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Okay, and so you could.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Throw out LaMelo Ball all you want. I'm glad they
left him in. He hit the game winner, He made
the game exciting. He himself is exciting because you never
know what's coming next with him on the court or
off the court.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
Yeah, I don't care how exciting you are. You can't cheat.
You can't take out the other team's best player. And
then don't even get me started on his response afterwards
if we can play it on the next segment, but
him basically saying, oh, we'll check up on him to
see he's okay, and and that's supposed to make it better.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
That's nice. I mean, mister Ball raised them well.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gotson Live
WEEKDAYCID three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
Taylor, would you be interested in having Quinn Snyder on
the Atlanta Hawks head coach before the Nixon Hawks series
because I'm pretty close to getting them on for us.
Speaker 5 (14:20):
Yeah, I would be interested to try to get some
secrets that I could relay back to Jaileen.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
It's exactly and the reason I asked, Yeah, you're gonna
have to switch hats before that interviewed, Taylor, would you
like I.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
Know you've heard it a number of times, but would
you like to hear the spo sound again in the
postgame press conference talking about the foul by LaMelo Ball?
Speaker 3 (14:44):
You mean the sound that makes it make sense that
I should be down on LaMelo ball today. Yeah, let's
play that sound.
Speaker 7 (14:50):
I didn't see it, but I don't think it's cute.
I don't think it's funny. I think it's a stupid play.
It's a dangerous play. Obviously our best players out. I'm
not making an excuse.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
So the horn.
Speaker 7 (15:00):
It's played great, you know, and they made those plays
down the stretch. We we had our opportunities to win.
I just that's a shame. You know, he should be
penalized for that. I don't think that belongs in the game.
You know, tripping guys, you know shenanigans, and you know
Curtis was there. It's his responsibility to see that. And
if it's not his responsibility, then Zach's got to see it.
(15:21):
If you know, somebody has got to see that and that,
you know, he should have been thrown out of the game,
you know, for that.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
I'm assuming you agree with everything he said.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
No, I think he needs to take it a step further.
I don't think you can just say, oh, we had enough.
I think you tell the listening audience, hey, he's our
most important player. We didn't have him for three quarters
of the game we lost by one point. Do you
think that would have made a difference? Okay, to side
for yourselves. He should have been kicked out.
Speaker 5 (15:46):
I think he should take it even a step further
and say game is under protest.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
Did you not see the eye for an eyebag? It
was right on the floor. Yes.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
I don't like him knowing the officials' first names, by
the way, I mean little too jummy.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
I mean even avid NBA fans know, yeah, first player,
first names of referees, Like as soon as I see
Zach Zar but Curtis Blair out there, I'm like, oh,
come on, Zach.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Yeah every time Mexica.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
I guess you look at you flexing your referee knowledge.
I mean the only referee whose first name I knew
was Ed Hocky Lee.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
I'm indian joy. You knew Joey Crawford only because he
raised with Barkley.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
That's the only reason. It's the only reason I knew,
Oh Tony.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
Brothers, Ed Malloy.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
You know a lot of NBA officials, I do you
know what, until you have the discussion, you don't realize
just how many you know. So my apologies to spoke.
You're one thousand percent correct. I had no idea. I
knew that many officials by night. Let's listen to LaMelo ball.
He was raised properly by his dad talking about the
Fallley committed on BAM.
Speaker 8 (16:56):
Go ahead, I apologize on that one. I mean, I
got hiten Hi didn't really know where I was. But
I'm gonna check on him. We see if he's okay
and everything. I got hit in the head, didn't even
know where I was, but just playing basketball. But like
I said, sorry, and I'm gonna check on him.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Checks for confession after that at all.
Speaker 8 (17:15):
Me for concussion. I mean, I don't think I ever
had a concussion, or I might have.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (17:22):
I don't even know had him Concussion's word.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
He's to go watch the video again and you tell
me when he got hit in the head, because I've
seen it several times and it didn't happen. His head
made contact with his own teammate Ryan Kalchbrenner on the
way down. But hit in the head to the point
where you don't know where you are. Oh, so, where
(17:47):
do you think you are on the basketball field where
there's a random poll that you can grab on to
help you up. But it's okay, stude. Heat fan should
be okay because he's gonna go check on Bam to
see if he's all right.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
It's a bet, God, it's a Baskett.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Yeah, And I don't want I don't want to misrepresent
what I was saying before. I'm not saying he was
raised poorly. I'm saying he was raised to be a
fancy ass basketball player and that is not what he
should be. He should be a take advantage of all
his skills instead of playing like he's on the playground
all the time.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Listen, you're so emotional. You're calling courts fields and fields
courts and you're blessed in mister ball. I mean, it's
just I mean, what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (18:24):
Man? I mean you lost the game. Yeah. Wasn't Lonzo
supposed to be the good one?
Speaker 3 (18:32):
I mean, I mean he was drafted one spot higher.
But yeah, that's some injury issues. His career is probably over.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Taylor.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
What do we do with the Hornets now? You proclaim
before anyone that the Hornets were going for it right now?
The Hornets are our team, correct until they play the Knicks.
What do we do with the Hornets.
Speaker 5 (18:50):
The Hornets are certainly my team going forward until they
play the Knicks, like you just mentioned, But I personally,
I do think that this Hornets team could upset the
Pistons in the right scenario, just because you look at
all their advanced metrics since the calendar year. They're like
one of the best teams in basketball. I know people
(19:11):
are gonna joke, oh, it's the Charlotte Hornets. They've never
been there, done that. Neither really has this Pistons team
to any like great success.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
Let me give you some advanced metrics, okay, as to
why the Charlotte Hornets are not going to advance very much. Okay,
how advances. There was a shot that lamellow Ball basically
caught a pass, was wide open for a three. And
you know how people do these days. They let somebody
fly by and they'll take a side step that was
entirely unnecessary in this play. But he lets somebody close
(19:41):
and take a side step. And when he took that
side step is when he reset his feet in that
little janky way that he shoots the ball. He had
a perfect shot. Catch shoot. He's like, no, no, I'm
going to side step. Put my feet together like a
bird and then decide to shoot my little funky way.
It was such a week, and of course he missed
that one. He is such a non serious, untraditional, frustrating player.
(20:04):
And I'm saying this not as a Miami Heat fan.
I'm saying it's somebody who's watched LaMelo ball his entire
career and it's just maddening because he's so talented.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
So I'm not too concerned with with LaMelo ball from
that aspect. Stu the one player I'm concerned about on
this Hornets team. I think the lights might be too
bright for that we've gotten.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
I mean, how about that?
Speaker 3 (20:28):
So it is funny because you know, he didn't have
a terrible game like he was lights are too bright.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
I didn't care that. Yes, yes, I thought that.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
I didn't really think he had a bunch of situations
where he had great looks. He tried to do what
he normally does and you know, create some shots off
the dribble, et cetera. But they were obviously taking the
three point shot away from him. And he is not
somebody that they at least yesterday and most of the
times that I saw him where they really try to
work him into the offense. They don't really call a
bunch of plays for him. It's more of a Brandon
(21:00):
Miller offense and LaMelo ball on the pick and roll.
And if he's not shooting it well or creating for
himself off the screen role, then he's just not going
to be that much of an impact. But I don't
think he's that poor of a defender where you have
to keep him out. That was just a very confident
head coach doing what was the right move there by
sitting his rookie down the stretch.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
He was two to twelve as he for the game,
he was oh six from three. I mean he was
dreadful last night. Kobe White, he was not.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
I mean, he didn't shoot the ball great, but he's
the type of player that if you leave him in
the game, of course the next one you think is
going to go in. So it's a very difficult dilemma
for the head coach, but for his team and what
they needed, he made the right car last night. And
I don't know if if the lights are too bright
for con I think he'll have a good game the
next time. But it was a smart decision by his
head coach.
Speaker 5 (21:48):
And I'm not sure the lights have ever been too
bright once in the history of that Spectrum Center.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Stu.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
We're not playing hand up today, We're actually I have
it scheduled do me a favor later. So I do
have a shameful admission a hand up that I would
have used if we were playing hand up today.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Yes, yeah, go ahead. I think I have the same one.
Go ahead.
Speaker 5 (22:10):
Yes, you could have told me, hey, Taylor, you are
not allowed to leave your apartment until you can name
who the Hornets head coaches, and I would still be
in my apartment and I'd be in my apartment for
the next decade plus, say, for the.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Remainder of time.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Yes, my hand up was I had no idea that
Kobe White was a Hornet until last night.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
I mean, how about that?
Speaker 3 (22:33):
Yeah, you got Chicago Bulls when they were trying to
take so is he.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Here's a funny thing, though, I so like Taylor, who
doesn't know the name of the Hornets head coach. I
requested the Hornets head coach this morning to come on
the show today, and I still can't remember his name.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
How about that? Do you have me to tell you?
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Or I just want to let the audience it in that.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
I'm not certain I'll believe you.
Speaker 9 (22:58):
I meanzy, When I'm watching that game yesterday and I'm
seeing Kobe White's impact on this Hornets team, the only
thing I could think of is the price that the
Hornets had to pay to get Kobe White.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
Doesn't really see doesn't really seem like it was that
big of a package where it's Kobe White and Mike
Conley junior and in exchange for Colin Sexton, Dang and
three second round picks. That seems like a pick a
trade in hindsight that a lot of teams are probably
looking around being like, man, we probably should have offered
(23:33):
a similar package for sure, if we could have got
something like Kobe White in return.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Give me it one more time. What was the trade
package specifically for Kobe White?
Speaker 5 (23:39):
It was Kobe White and Mike Conley in exchange for
Colin Sexton, dang and three second round picks.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Yeah, so for the Hornet specifically, Colin Sexton was supposed
to be somebody who was, you know, off their bench,
a really strong player. Didn't really work out. This is
an example, and you know there's some franchises that do
this especially well of taking it advantage of a Bulls
team that was just going to sell off whatever parts
it had. They were going from play in level to
(24:06):
tank level, and they were just getting rid of pieces.
And Kobe White's somebody that you say, he's a finishing
piece for a team that's really close. In the Hornets case,
he was a finishing piece for a team that could
make a playoff run. And he is better than Sexton.
He is a guy that was coming into his own
last year, and so you put him in a situation
(24:27):
where he's coming off the bench with this team and knows, listen,
I can play my game if I take I don't know,
ten threes in a game, nobody's going to say anything
to me because look what LaMelo is doing. So Kobe
can go out there, play confident, and do his thing
in his home state, and it's just pretty much a
perfect fit for him.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
Izzy, if you wouldn't mind put us there, because that
was a big part of the story, big story of
last night's game, the Amazon blackout for a couple of
minutes there, put us in your living room as all
of a sudden you're watching this fantastic game, perhaps the
greatest play in game of all time, and then all
of a sudden it goes away.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Yeah, so I was a little bit of a dilemma yesterday.
But yeah, I was actually in the bedroom and there
was a point in the second quarter, maybe the third quarter,
whenever it was that the heat went down maybe eight points,
and I was like, you know what, turn this game
off for a minute. I'm gonna do the trick and
see if they can win without me, right, And so
I didn't even wait very long. I went back on.
(25:25):
I went back on my phone, and I thought there
was a mistake. I was like, what do you mean
the heater up won? And then it was the classic dilemmas, Dude,
what do I do? Do I turn it on or
do I keep it off? And then I asked Anthony,
I'm like what do I do? When he's just like
he's like, you know what you should do. You should
turn the game on and enjoy yourself and understand that
you have nothing to do with the outcome. And I said,
that's not the answer that I wanted. That's what I
(25:47):
decided to do.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
And I do that all I do it all the time.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
I'm wondering if Taylor does this as well, Just to
try to change the fortunes of your team, change the
luck of your team. I do it with the Jets.
I turned it off, They're down fourteen nothing. I turned
it back on. They're down twenty eight to nothing. It's unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
So ye're still absolutely nothing, right, yeah, Taylor, do you
do that? No? Absolutely not me.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
Me sitting in an apartment in Fort Lauderdale has no
impact on whether or not the Yankees could win in
the postseason.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
I don't know because I turned it on and all
of a sudden, danveyon Mitchell like a three was in
the air. So I don't even get credit for watching this.
The three was in the air, boom, all of a sudden,
the heater up seven and it's time out, and I'm
just like, man, I don't know. I think I should
turn this off.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
Let's try it this way, Taylor. It's Yankees, Red Sox Alcs.
You know you're down two to nothing. The game blacks out.
Someone text you during the blackout, Aaron Judge just hit
a three run Homer, don't turn your television back on
if you were subject to the blackout?
Speaker 2 (26:44):
What are you doing in that spot? Huh?
Speaker 5 (26:46):
I am immediately turning that game back on.
Speaker 10 (26:48):
Sh I'm Blo's that's somebody giving me the stop sign
as the third base coach and me just running full
speed and being like I'm scoring and I'm slotting head first,
and if for some reason the catcher catches the ball,
I'm gonna Pete Rose knock him out of his path.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
There's somebody who's a butterfly effect. Obviously, I would.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Never turn the game back on. It happened to me.
Remember the Dolphins. Remember that Monday night game Dolphins Jets?
Is he with the Jets were down big? Oh a
lot of people, Yeah it was Jumbo Elliott caught a touchdown. Yes,
I turned that game off, and I was getting a
bunch of tacks. Jets are coming back. Jets are coming back,
Jets are coming back. I never turned it back on.
I woke up the next morning and realized, oh, the
(27:31):
Jets had won, and I felt like I was a
big part of that victory. I have to be honest
with you.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
I do.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Yeah. But to answer your question about the technical difficulties,
is it with a heat were down three and it
was gonna be Charlotte ball, and you know, in most
cases are you know, twenty years ago I would have said,
that's game over with, you know whatever. It was less
than a minute left, but these days, you know, you
can recover from anything, and so it immediately went dark
and I was like, what's happening Amazon? I said that
(27:56):
out loud, what's happening Amazon? And then it said technical difficulties,
and I was just like I went to my phone
to see what the update was. It hadn't been an
update yet, but the George Adano said in our basketball texts,
he's like, as anybody else having technical difficulties. And I
put up the picture and we were like no, But
then it got fixed. A minute later. I saw the
score and Charlotte had scored. But then I hear some
(28:18):
of the details about the score. Maybe it was controversial,
maybe LaMelo traveled, maybe there was a backcourt. I don't
know what happened. I'm pretty sure if I was watching,
it would have been heat ball.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
A lot of people are giving Prime flak today, the
similar flack to Netflix Scott for that opening night MLB game.
If Netflix had that game last night instead of showing
that technical difficulty screen, they would know how to pre
planned stranger things commercial instead.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Just a mini episode of something yeah, yeah, And I
got to tell.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
You WWE on Netflex is coming here. We're gonna play
this instead of the last twenty seconds.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Taylor, I can't make this up. So the game it
blacks out. It's on Amazon Prime. And he looks at
me and she says, oh, terrible look for Amazon, as
she's ordering clothes from my daughter from Amazon.
Speaker 5 (29:10):
That was good for business. I think it was great, right,
a little break of the action, buy some clothes.
Speaker 4 (29:17):

Zach Brown going to join us at about fifteen minutes
looking forward to that. Tom haberstro is going to join
us at around four to twenty five to talk about
the playing games last night preview, the games coming up
playoff preview I like to call it.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
He's a big Portland guy too, so it might be
schooling people on the Portland Trailblazers.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Yes, but it is time now for do me a favor.
I don't know if we have music imaging. I'm not certain.
I can't remember.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
The game.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
We play every week, not every Wednesday, just every week haphazardly.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
Whenever we feel like it.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Yes, but let's start here with bordop Ricardo for do
me a favor. If he could pry himself away from
the day baseball that is going on right now, what
a soccer match is probably happening, bordop Ricardo.
Speaker 11 (30:51):
Go ahead, all right, Well, Happy Jackie Robinson day, everybody first,
one of my favorite days of the year. Text day, right, Well,
that's the ugly part of the day, I guess. But
Larry Dobie was the second African American player to be
playing in Major League Baseball after Jackie Robinson two months afterward,
and I don't feel like he gets any credit. So
(31:12):
major League Baseball, do me a favor. Give some flowers
of Larry Abie.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
Do we need like a Larry Adobie Day? Adobe Day?
Sounds fun? I mean that'd be fun.
Speaker 11 (31:21):
I'd be cool with that because he was the first
guy in the American, first African American, the American League.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
So that could justification card and A yeah, I like it.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
That's an excellent one, Ford Apricardo, Seriously, I agree with
you these do me a favors. Let's go to EP
Jason out in Sherman Oaks, EP Jason Toybody.
Speaker 12 (31:40):
Who hosts a national radio show or a national sports
podcast or television show, do me a favor if you
spend all of the NBA regular season telling us how
unwatchable it is and how nobody cares about it. The
players don't care, why should we care? Don't do these
deep dive take about the NBA playoffs and who's gonna
(32:02):
win the series? And you have any credibility? What do
you think about that?
Speaker 13 (32:06):
Is?
Speaker 3 (32:07):
He's playing bo shives and they can't do that.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
I mean, you can't complain about the league and then
just hop in in the postseason and be like, oh,
this is awesome and you can't have both ways.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
I'm with you, Jason, you can and I have for
twenty years now. So I mean, I don't know what
the time you're talking about it? Right?
Speaker 1 (32:24):
How about you make the regular season more interesting and
I'll jump in earlier.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
It's not well, I jump in during the playoffs. How
about that?
Speaker 3 (32:29):
In your defense? Do you also don't really watch too
much of the playoffs either.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
So you know listen. I was glued to the last
night's game. I saw that Kobe White three to take
it to overtime. I saw Tyler Herro choke down the stretch,
and I'm not certain Tyler Herrow was happy to hear
his coach say that Bams the best player on the team.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
He joked, he was bad.
Speaker 5 (32:46):
How I knew, sitting over Todd, how I knew Jason
wasn't talking about Steve Gotts is he said, if you
care about your credibility, And if there's one thing I
know about Steve Gotts, yeah, he does not care about
his credibility. He's just gonna say whatever on his mind.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Never have, never will.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Thank you, Teller. I appreciate it and I'm sorry to
eat p Jason. Let's go to update anchor Ike Well.
I also apologized too earlier today because he told us
Rory was going to win the Masters.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
We laughed at a go ahead.
Speaker 13 (33:12):
Ike, do me a favor it. People around sports media,
make last night the last time that a live streamed
sports broadcast encounters technical difficulties during crunch time.
Speaker 12 (33:28):
This one day might apply to the super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
There's been a few of these, and they've been bigger
than last night. Last night was only two minutes, and
it was a play in game and you didn't miss
any like lead change or anything like that. But it's
annoying and it's just it's terrible debut postseason for Amazon.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
I'd rather what happened last night than what happened at
the Masters, where I'm just seeing everyone and they're all
confused because no one knows where the golf ball is
on the eighteenth hole. Just black out, Okay, come back,
but he's ready to hit his wedge. Yeah, Taylor, No,
is it my turn? Yes it is. That's why I
(34:07):
was saying, yeah, Taylor, yes, So I'm.
Speaker 5 (34:09):
Watching up in Adam's k Adams Show on FanDuel TV
or FanDuel Network and Marcus Freeman is the guest, and
Marcus Freeman, the entire head looks like it was painted on.
Marcus Freeman, Do me a favor. Come on home, brother,
You're not fooling anybody with that.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
With that hair drop, dude, if you haven't seen it,
like he's approaching, was it Cam Boozer, Carlo Carlo's Boozer. Wow,
it's going to be confusing for the rest of my life.
Carlos Boozer levels because you don't even really need to
zoom in. If any light is hitting off of his head,
you can see his real hairline and where the fake
stuff starts. And man, it is thick.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Yes, anyone back in, anyone else back in Sherman Oaks.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
Have I know, Chris, you have one? Do me a favor, Yes, do.
Speaker 12 (34:59):
Me a favor.
Speaker 14 (35:01):
Athletic you're you're, You're clearly gonna need an insider. And
I don't think he in Rapidport is gonna be long
from NFL network considering consolidation and things of that nature.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
I'm just he seems like a nice guy. Just give
him a good landing.
Speaker 14 (35:14):
Spot. You know he can do the job. He can
do everything Rassini was doing. I can't imagine. I can't
imagine what that. Oh sorry, I Isaac just shot me
a particular uh glare at my praising.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
So yeah, I'm gonna back in.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
None of you know what Rassini was doing.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
No, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
I I are you guys gonna continue to put me
in bad spots with this?
Speaker 2 (35:34):
Is that? Is that the goal of the game here?
Speaker 3 (35:36):
I mean, or you could just move along and go
to me. Since he got about a minute left in
the second go ahead, is he do me a favor?
Miami Heat, Get himI Hackiz Junior off my team. Oh
my god, he's so frustrating. He might be six Man
of the Year, but I don't know if his basketball
(35:58):
i Q reaches six. It is so frustrating in critical
moments to watch that guy make some of the dumbest decisions.
Congratulations to the Hawkes is his sister's clearly the best
player in the family. They won a national title at UCLA,
But oh my goodness, they maxed out what they're gonna
get out of heimihawk As Junior. Get that man off
(36:19):
of my team. I need him to do some studying
when it comes to NBA basketball.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
All right, and I guess we're seene is he is?
Speaker 13 (36:27):
He is?
Speaker 2 (36:28):
Seriously, he's very emotional today. Steph Curry, do me a favor.
He's on a minute restriction. Tonight.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
Warriors are playing in a must win game. Steph Curry,
do me a favor. Remove the minutes restriction. Okay, if
you lose tonight, guess what you have nothing to do
for the remainder of the summer. Give him forty minutes
this evening. Because you're Steph Curry, do me a favor.
