Speaker 3 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
I am telling you right now, if you are not
glued to Mammoth Vegas Nights, you are making a big mistake.
It might be the greatest opening round hockey series in
the history of the NHL Playoffs.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
Yes, Taylor, it's been the rare must watch series that
I don't think anybody's watching it.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
I'm watching it.
Speaker 5 (00:44):
I am watching it in the morning.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
The saying is put the kids to bed. I've been
telling Abby, put me to bed. Hey, this thing is
keeping me up until two am. I mean it's it's
on the West Coast, both teams obviously, and I am
telling you it is back and forth hockey. Vegas wins
last night and overtime. It's now three two Vegas Knights.
The series shifts back to Utah, the Mammots and a
must win game.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
I mean, wow, put me to bed.
Speaker 5 (01:09):
How many overtimes was it that you watched?
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Double overtime?
Speaker 5 (01:12):
Okay, yeah, he's on his game today.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Two am. I shouldn't be on my game. Put me
to bed.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
I was hooked on Penguins Flyers for a minute. I
wanted to see the Penguins come back from their little
deficit in that series. I like Dave Damashek. He's a
big Penguins.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Fan, the host of a football show.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
Yeah, the other football show. But uh yeah no they lost,
so go Flyers.
Speaker 6 (01:37):
I guess they did.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Mike Yea is not happy with you. He doesn't want
you to be a fan of Dave Danishek. We don't
know Dave Danishek. I'm certain he's a nice man.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Mike Yea, who care?
Speaker 6 (01:46):
Get him out of here.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Why this is the whole Kenny Beacham Frank I solo
thing all over again.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
You want to explain that to a radio audience who
has never heard of the Kenny Beacham Frank I sold
a feud.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Yeah, so Frank's has a two hour show on Sirius x.
Sam used to be three and it's now. I believe
it's one because they cut the second hour for the
Kenny Beacham Hour. Yes, and they handed frank I Solo
a copy to read to promote the Kenny Beacham Hour,
and the Reid says, Monday's just got a whole lot better.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
So they want I Sola to read a promo which
cuts his show by an hour to promote that your
day's just got a lot better.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
Monday's just got a whole lot better because you get
one hour less of frank I Sola. From frank I
Soola himself.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
He shouldn't read that. I want I Solo on to
talk about that. I want Kenny Beacham on as well.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
Now here he's got an extra hour, right, he's got.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Time to spend with us.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Now, frank I Solo, I gotta tell you, I am
sitting and Cci Sabathia get to joined us in about
fifteen minutes. We have issues there that I'll get to
in just a second. But I am sitting in the
sweet spot with this Lakers rocket series. Oh yeah, because
now the Lakers lose last night in a closeout game
at home, and it's now three two Lakers back to
Houston for a game six. No, Kevin Durant again, didn't
(03:03):
play last night, won't play in Game six.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
And the reason I'm sitting in this sweet spot.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Is if the Lakers lose, I get to crush Lebron
for not finishing off a series in which he was
up three to one. And if the Rockets win was
up three to zero, they're better.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Without Kevin Durant. I mean, how.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
About that three? Oh excuse me, So it's a win
win for me. I mean, I'm the MVP of the series.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
How about that?
Speaker 5 (03:28):
I mean, so my thing on this is just like
I know, it's a big if, right, the Lakers still
have to lose two more times. Austin Reeves is back.
He looked good in the first half yesterday, not so
great in the second half. Maybe he'll look better for
four quarters in this next game, and you just don't know.
But it is funny how quickly we've forgotten what we
(03:48):
were talking about with Lebron James. In Games one and two,
we were all saying, holy bleep, he's forty one and
he's carrying a team through a first round playoff series
without his two best hemates. What can't he do?
Speaker 7 (04:02):
Right?
Speaker 5 (04:02):
And we were saying, wow, look, look what Luke Canard
can do as a teammate of Lebron James, he can
make anybody better.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
I mean, two games ago he was beating father Ton.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Right yes, and now not only did they get super
lucky to win Game three and really should be down
three to two right now, but there on the verge
of potentially being the biggest joke in playoff history, because
anybody that's going to lose that first time after going
up three zero is going to be a huge joke.
(04:34):
Luke Canard has suddenly forgot how to play basketball.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Is not Luca anymore anymore? What's up, Taylor?
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Listen? I am probably one of the biggest Lebron defenders,
and there was a pivot where I became a Lebron
defender because after the decision I hated Lebron because he
didn't choose the Knicks. But at this point, Lebron getting
out of bed at forty one is an achievement in
and of itself. No Lebron playing basketball at this level
is nothing short of a modern miracle.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
But the haters are still going to pounce the second
he if they lose this series, yeap, he will be
remembered more as the guy who's on the team who
lost after being up three to zero. Yeah, more than
the guy who's forty one years old doing what he's
doing without his best teammates.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Yeah, it's just how strong, I guess.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
I don't know if you want to say the hatred
is the opinions of him are, or just how sports
fans work and they can't remember what happened last week.
But it's such a shift in this series. Again, if
it happens.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
He'd be losing to a team without its best player,
and Kevin Durant too, I mean, which is amazing. By
the way, do me a favor, anyone who wants to
have that discussion on Jordan and Lebron. Give me the
last time or the only time that Michael Jordan was
up three to zero in a series and the other
team came back to win without their best player.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Go ahead, I'll wait all day, huh.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
Anyone, Like I said, you're gonna have a field day
with Lebron if this ever happens, and this is just
the what if and you're already hitting us with the.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Top version of it, Yes, can we talk about the
Rockets for a guess? Please?
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Because without Kevin Durant. They had five guys I believe
in double figures. The spacing was better. Everything looked better
without Kevin Durant in the lineup for the Houston Rockets.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Life.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
Well, it's like I was telling you before, is they
spend so much time when Kevin's in there, especially when
they know big moments or big games where they feel
like they have to get him the ball. They spend
so much time just in the half court offense trying
to get him the ball when the defense is locked
in on avoiding that right or trying to put two
people on him. They're doing anything possible to not give
him the ball. And it just doesn't feel like the
(06:31):
offense has been sharp enough lately to just move and
play off of that. You know, hit the open guy,
play four on three somewhere else. And it just hasn't
looked very good without Kevin Durant. Yes, Alpi Shangoun is
the center point, right, he's the main point of that offense.
But they don't spend twenty seconds of the shot clock
(06:52):
trying to get him the ball in the post. They
just say you can take it at the top, or
if you get a quick seal, you can get it
in the post, but let's go fifteen seconds in the
shot clock. We got to move this offense. And we're
just gonna say it. He's a better passion than Kevin Durant,
So when double teams come to Kevin Durant, he might
not see the same pass at ALTPCS And so I
think they look a little bit more fluid because they're
(07:12):
not trying so hard to appease Kevin Durant.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
You're in a weird spot here because you love the Rockets.
Before the season started, you've been ripping Udoka because the
Rockets haven't had a good season as you thought.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
They were going to have.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
What are you gonna do now if Udoka comes back
without Kevin Durant from being down three to.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
Zero, Well, I mean you could argue this is great coaching,
right because what did he say after after Game three?
He told the group to grow up? It looked like
they grew up in the last couple of games.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Like I know, but now it's great coaching and I
love you for doing this. This is what sports radio
was all about. But two days ago you wanted to
fire the guy.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
Two days so where my mind had shifted on this
is I don't think they can fire him because they
just extended him last summer. But I do think if
things don't go well, if they don't get past first round,
if they don't get past the second round, they're gonna
have to talk about that staff. Maybe get him like
a lead assistant that's more offensively in more offensive minded,
that can do something with his offense. But it obviously
(08:05):
with this group and him right now, it's just.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Not the best pairing.
Speaker 5 (08:08):
It's a super young group outside of Kevin Durant right so,
and he's lucky that a lot of these guys and
men Thompson even reads Shepherd. It looks like Jabari Smith,
Tarry Easton. They all seem to respond well to that
tough you know, hard love, tough love coaching, and so
it's fixable. But for so much of this season, and
even those first couple of games, first three games, it's
just like, dude, it's so obvious that Emay's a bit
(08:30):
of the problem.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Taylor put it on the poll.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Is Kevin Durant happy or unhappy that the Rockets are
having success without him?
Speaker 2 (08:37):
It's one of my favorite go to topics.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
The funny part is people think he's not really that
hurt and he's just no, the man is hurt. Man,
there's no benefit to him not playing whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
On the flip side, Luca's like, see.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
Luca is even with Austin Reeves, He's like, see you guys,
hear nothing without fate.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Reeves was terrible off the bench last night.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
He was second, but that he was bad on the
second half, and that was one of the concerns when
you bring him back, not just because oh, he might
shoot poorly, but because he is a ball handler. He
runs the pick and roll very often and has to
put not only himself but other people in good positions.
If he is not hitting his shots, it's it's just
tough because he's just gonna be rusty and you can't
rely on him as much.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
I feel like Marcus Smart also goes through stretches in
games where you're, oh my god, this guy is one
of the worst basketball players to ever touch a court.
But Stu, there was a quote from Marcus Smart after
the game. I'm wondering if this changes your prediction for
Game six. Okay, Marcus Smart says the Lakers must be
willing to run through a wall.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Yes, it changes everything.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
Well, it feels like the Rockets ran through a wall
and that wall was Lebron James. Did you see the
Vin Durant, I mean, well, did you see what he did?
He was Lebron scored a bucket I think it was
in the fast break, ran back the other side of
the court and just basically ran through read check like
Reid was like shoulders shoulder, He's like bullied him out
of the way and it's all right. And then there
was another play later where he drew a foul on
(10:06):
Reid and he gave him the whole you know, the
shoulder shrug thing as if he's like mister tough guy,
Reach Shepherd from then just answered Reach shepperd not only
had a pull up jumper, stole the ball from Lebron,
dunk the ball after that like that dude had a response.
And this is the same guy who had that second
turnover and that six point collapse with thirty seconds left.
So to see him recover and do this and not
(10:29):
be a defensive liability while he's on the floor, that's
pretty impressive.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
So Stu, our research team just got back to me.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
We have a team.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Lebron James has never blown a or Michael Jordan has
never blown a three to zero lead. NBA teams, in fact,
are one hundred and fifty nine and oh with a
three to zero lead and a best of seven.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
Wow, if Lebron is the one, can you imagine? I
mean history.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
I thought you guys didn't start this conversation not knowing that, right,
You all knew that nobody's ever come back from three
to Zho did I have to say that at the start?
Speaker 2 (11:00):
We have a research team?
Speaker 4 (11:02):
Real, so I trusted you?
Speaker 8 (11:04):
Is he?
Speaker 4 (11:04):
But we do at Fox Sports Radio here, we do
have a research team that we got.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
I think I can see the disappointment in Dan's face.
It's like these guys host a radio show and they
know that. No, they don't know that no NBA team
has never come back from three zero?
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Dan, Are you disappointed in us? Or? I mean this
is part for the course.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
Yes, I thought what Taylor was going for was the
thunderous number of wins and not the zero at the
end of it, like, this is how many times that
it has happened?
Speaker 6 (11:27):
Right?
Speaker 1 (11:28):
There were two other games in the NBA last night.
No one cares about either of them, Calves and Raptors,
Magic and Pissons tonight a special night.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
I mean, what a.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Celtics and Sixers. Celtics try to close it out in
six in Philadelphia. I have the Sixers winning that series. Nickson, Yeah,
the whole series, the whole thing. Maybe Nix and Hawks.
Nick try to close it out in Atlanta at t
Wolves and Denver Taylor.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
What are we.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Expecting from the Knicks tonight? To me, it's end the
game and ended early. I do not give them life,
don't give them a chance. I don't want this series
going back to the Mecca.
Speaker 4 (11:59):
Yeah. The biggest problem for this Knicks Hawk series is
that the Knicks have given the Hawk some belief. We
got to crush that belief right from the tip. We
cannot go back to a game seven. If it goes
to a game seven, I think everybody and their mothers
would pick the Knicks to win at Madison Square Garden.
But we can't even get to that situation where we're
putting mothers in that in that scene, I would.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Pick the Mecha to win that game.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
I would I would not put my mother in that
scenario whatsoever. I'm going to predict back to a first
round by Taylor. Two game sevens are gonna come out
of tonight, and I think the Knicks or the other
they will close out there.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Sir, all right, let's play some sound real quickly here
of Mike Francessa, who was on with us yesterday, and
I play this sound because Ceci Sabathi is coming on
with us next and I'm not certain how we're going
to navigate through this situation. First I have to ask
him about Taylor's take, which Ryan Ruco agreed with yesterday,
and Taylor was very happy. There's no way CEC is
going to agree with that take, the take being Paul
skiing straight up for Cam Schlitzler.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Taylor said he wouldn't do it, Okay.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
So Paul Skin's pitch today, Yeah, the essence Skeen stands
for stinker.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
So Ruco is the first one to agree with him.
I doubt that c C will. But more importantly, here's
the sound yesterday from Mike Francesa talking about whether or
not c C.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Sabbathia's jersey should be retired to Yankee Stadium.
Speaker 7 (13:18):
Whoever's arguing that they have retired too many numbers has
listened to me for a long time, because number for
immortal players Okay, if you if you're Rickie Jackson, you'll
never get your number retired, okay, never, okay never. The
other things are nothing more than marketing and an ability
(13:39):
to have days for the fans. That's all it is.
It is utter nonsense, and they have completely ruined the
idea of retired numbers by retiring so many numbers. It's embarrassing,
all right.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
So Taylor agrees he does not think that CC Sabbathia's
jersey should be retired at Yankee Stadium. Mikey A disagrees.
I don't know how we're going to navigate this.
Speaker 9 (14:00):
C C.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Sabathia. Are we gonna play the sound for him? Just
tell him? Francesa said it. Are we gonna tell him
the Taylor agrees with him. I don't know what to
do here. It's it's a tough one because you like
c C. Sabathia, right, Taylor.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
I don't like CE Suspatia. I love.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
How about the escalating never's there from FRANCESSA who was
on his A game yesterday.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
I'm telling you, man, he was giving us fastball after fastball.
Let me hear the first never? Can you can you
can you isolate that for me.
Speaker 7 (14:26):
Jackson, you okay.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Second never okay never. In case you didn't understand, there
was a third one.
Speaker 7 (14:35):
They never.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Never. He made it two words.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
Yeah, you emphasized that second syllable. I'm never. You know
you're trying.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
You just had the hammer home the point. Yeah, that's it.
One more time. First never Jackson, all right, so that's it.
It's calm, it's tame, all right.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Second one okay, never okay, Wow, he's getting angry.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Third they never.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
That's why he's the greatest, the pope. We'll take a
quick time out. Is he as a word here? CC
Sabathia coming up next.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
By the way, Paul schemes Today, five innings pitched, four
un runs, nine strikeouts, gave up, eight hits up.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
For over forty years, Tyrak has been helping customers find

one's courtesy of ninety seven point one the Ticket Pistons
Radio Network Cage, We'll.
Speaker 10 (15:52):
Drive it, Cage stops and fires fills it up Kate
Cunningham with thirty one point three seconds left, and he
has just set a career playoff single game scoring high
with forty five points, the previous record held by the
Great Dave Than with forty four Orlando. The four court
(16:15):
time runs out and the Pistons win one.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
They have to win.
Speaker 10 (16:21):
They did do it. It was a must win game,
and the Pistons won it. Pistons win it one sixteen
to one oh nine.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
I'm gonna call this. I think this will go down
as the best one to eight matchup of all time.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Yeah, I'm not sure, but I think the Pistons won.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
They must win. The Pistons win it.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
How about there's no reason for them to be in
a must win situation in.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
The first place. Congratulations on winning a game you had
to won, had to.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Win, I had to won, George Blah, I don't know
what the hell just happened right there before we get
the Dan the update, and of course CC Sabathia. Let's
take a call here. Let's go to Gil who's in
Virginia today. Gil, go ahead, you're on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 8 (17:08):
Hey guys, So stude to your point about Michael Jordan
and not letting a team back up three games to none.
Just a counterpoint, When was the last time Michael Jordan
got a team up three to zero? When he was
forty one? I'll hang up and listen.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
I can't argue, No, Gil, you don't understand. There are
no real debate rules when it comes to mj versus Lebron.
All Right, people are gonna say what they want to say,
especially Stu Goatts, and it's always gonna come down to
six and oh, yes, six and oh in finals. Never
Mind that he didn't play six years of his NBA career.
He played a lot more years than six years. Didn't
make it to the finals every year, But those six
(17:48):
years all you need to know.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Well, the two other years he would have made it
to the NBA finals, he was off.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
That's why Elijah want one of those titles say this
as fact, Well, it is fact.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
I mean someone was gonna beat that. He was right
in the middle of the greatest dynasty we've.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
Ever seen great well, having to say it, if Chris
Bosh doesn't get blood clotts, the Miami Heat have six
championships there, all right.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
He is a six time All Star, two thousand and
seven Cy Young Award winner, two thousand and nine World
Series champion, and MLB Hall of Famer. He's hosting MLB.
According to CC on NBC Sports, he is he is
here on behalf of merk. We'll get to that in
just a second. Tailor and mikey A. They are already
giving him an.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Ovation for the cap already.
Speaker 7 (18:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
CC, Just so you know, you have two big time
Yankee fans here. I'm a Met fan, but these two
Taylor mikey A, they are a big time Yankee fans.
Speaker 9 (18:33):
So I love it, man. I appreciate you guys. You
know what's crazy, though, Like to be a Mets fan.
You got you get credit, man, Thank you a lot
of credit.
Speaker 6 (18:42):
Every summer. Best like going for the Raiders every fall.
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Wait, so you're saying you're saying I get credit just
for staying with them?
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Is that what you're saying? Absolutely, I'm thinking about bailing.
I gotta be honest, man, funny.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
Think real quick, funny. Think about CC's career lines up
to when I still like baseball, like his trains in Milwaukee,
and that postseason was like it's still ingrained in my head.
And now I couldn't tell you what guys did yesterday.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
CC to make matters worse. I'm a Jets fan as well.
How about that?
Speaker 6 (19:12):
Oh man?
Speaker 9 (19:13):
So you just like punishment though, right? So, like I
get the Raiders in the fall, but then in the
in the winter time, I just picked whoever's good in basketball.
So right now I'm going with the Spurs. So I'm
going pretty good.
Speaker 6 (19:25):
Well that's to mean some kind of joy in my life.
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
Now, what happens if the Spurs lose you just pivot
to the next team.
Speaker 9 (19:31):
Is that it pivot to the next team, right to
the next team basketball, I'm a free agent every.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
Season round by round. It seems like, I mean, it's amazing.
Stay happy.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
Yeah, before we get started, while we're starting, but before
we get into some baseball stuff with you, tell us
what you're doing with Mark here?
Speaker 9 (19:49):
Uh yeah, teaming up with Mark and playing with heart
dot Com. You know it's an educational website to help
people understand you know, bad cholesterol and you know, understanding
heart disease. You know, it's something that's kind of personal
to me because I had a ninety percent blockage in
twenty eighteen and had no idea, you know, and was
pitching with that and playing with that, and you know,
(20:10):
sometimes you feel fine and have no idea you know,
what your cholesterol number is and you know, so it's
always good to just check with your doctor and make
sure that you know your heart art reason your heart
is healthy.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
That is scary. See see that thinking about that for you,
I'm certain has to be scary, right.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 9 (20:25):
I mean and you know I would just think about now,
Like sometimes after bullpens before games, I would have to
sit down and like take like twenty fifteen twenty minutes.
And I think that was because of me not understanding
you know, my heart and you know, bad cholesterol and
things like that. So people can check out the website
playing with heart dot Com and you know, not falling
kind of the same trap that I did.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
I'm going to give you a Yankee take from Taylor here,
and we'll continue to promote merk and what you're doing
with them As we move forward here, Taylor had a
ridiculous take. Now, I will tell you your boy, Ryan Rouco
was on with us yesterday. Okay, you guys know each other.
You did shows together, you did a podcast together.
Speaker 6 (21:02):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Ruco is the first person to agree with Taylor's take,
and Taylor's take is he would not trade Cam Schlitzler
straight up for Paul Skins.
Speaker 6 (21:12):
No, I wouldn't either.
Speaker 9 (21:13):
What after, you guys crazy like a guy that can
do it in New York. He's like he's I mean,
this guy's already proven that he can do it in
New York.
Speaker 6 (21:25):
He can pitch in Boston.
Speaker 9 (21:27):
He pitches with three different fastballs, like he throws strikes.
Speaker 6 (21:32):
Like. This guy is already like proven that he's one
of the you.
Speaker 9 (21:35):
Know, top end rotation guys. And it's hard to do
that on the in the Northeast. You guys know how
hard it is to pitch in that division, and you
know him for him to be able to handle the
pinch types already, Absolutely not. Camp Slittler is staying on
my team. Oh, if you would have said that this,
if you would have said that this.
Speaker 6 (21:50):
Offseason, I would have said, Yes, but but no.
Speaker 9 (21:54):
I mean after watching him, just the way he settled
in and everything. I mean, I would even say this
offseason I would have said, you throw Schlitler in with
whatever package you want of young players. I would have
traded them for Bryce Harper. You know Harper well, you
know Harper's kind of discrub through in Philly. You know,
I feel like they can shake it up and things
like that. So I would have throw a package together
this offseason for Schlittler, for Bryce Harper.
Speaker 6 (22:16):
But now there's no way I'm training that.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
Guy only a year older than this, And mikey A
is a Yankee fan. He's upset by.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
I'm upset he agreed with Taylor.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
I want to throw Taylor under the bus so hard
right now.
Speaker 6 (22:31):
But he slignes right in. Man. I mean him with
Freed and you get rode.
Speaker 9 (22:36):
On and uh Garret koleback at the you know sometime
this summer. I mean, gosh, that's one of the best
chass you will ever see.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
Stud There's some worried that when people come to New
York they don't have what it takes to be made
for New York. When CC signed with the Yankees, right away,
I said this guy born for the Bronx.
Speaker 6 (22:54):
Yeah, I didn't.
Speaker 9 (22:55):
I didn't know. I had no idea why to put
the opt out in. So I had no.
Speaker 6 (22:59):
Idea I be able to work here. You know what
I'm saying, You just don't know.
Speaker 9 (23:05):
Coming from being a West Coast guy playing in mid
market you know, teams my whole career, I had no
idea if I could pitch here. And but after I
got here first week in spring training getting to know
the guys, I'm like, all right.
Speaker 6 (23:15):
This is a good spot.
Speaker 9 (23:16):
But I put the opt out in because you, like,
you know, you just you have no idea what it's
gonna be like pitching in the Bronx.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
What is the difference. What is the thing that makes
somebody able to perform there?
Speaker 9 (23:25):
I think being being able to come here and be yourself.
You know, I look at Max Freed and I look
out like how low maintenance he is, you know what
I mean, Like he's a superstar. We don't hear from
him much. We hear from him every fifth day when
he goes out and deals, but other than that, he
stands at his locker.
Speaker 6 (23:40):
He's accountable, And I think that's what you have to be.
Speaker 9 (23:43):
You have to be authentically yourself because people here will
see right through that, whether it's fans, the media, you know,
and people pay so much attention to what's happening in
the Bronx, like you, you have to come across, you know,
authentic as yourself. And you know, I just look at
the way you know, Max has been able to slide
in and it's been perfect.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
You know, he's getting a lot of credit for being
authentically himself. Your boy on your new team, the Spurs,
Victim Webbin Yama. Yeah, that guy always himself.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
It's team for now. Yeah, it's gonna for a while.
Speaker 9 (24:13):
I feel like he changed the All Star Game this year.
He did coming out playing hard man. Everybody played hard.
Speaker 6 (24:18):
You know what I'm saying, Like, yeah, he if.
Speaker 9 (24:20):
He can stay healthy, I mean, I think he's gonna
be one of the best talents we've ever seen in
the NBA.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
I mean, he was in tears after beating Portland in
the first round because it meant a lot to him
that that's not something I'd normally do.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Yeah, it's yeah, it's overkilled, I mean much.
Speaker 6 (24:37):
He's young. You know what I'm saying, it's the first playoffs.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Yeah, no, you're right.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
See see, let me give you one more take here
from Taylor. He said during the World Baseball Classic, he
couldn't find himself rooting for Team USA.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
Because Roman Anthony was on that team. He rooted for
Team USA. He just couldn't.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
I turned my back when Roman Anthony about it.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
How do you feel about that?
Speaker 9 (24:57):
That kid's instead man he is that I'm you know,
I'm excited to see what he turns into, but I'm
just you know, I feel like, you know, Boston is
kind of doing him a little bit of disservice where
you know, whether if it was you know, Dustin Perjoriti
of Mookie Bets, whoever else, they all came up under
the cover of Big Poppy or Manny, they had other stars.
Like this kid is out here answering questions about the
(25:19):
manager getting fired, why they're losing ten games, you know
what I mean. Like he's twenty two years old, trying
to figure out how to play in Boston and be,
you know, the face of the franchise. So I think,
you know, it's gonna be a little while before he
kind of turns into where we're gonna see him be.
But I think he's gonna be incredible and for as
far as WBC. I don't know about you guys, but
I think this was the best you know, that we've had.
(25:40):
It's been twenty years to start in two thousand and six,
and you know, twenty years later, I feel like this
kind of turned into the World Cup for US.
Speaker 6 (25:47):
CC.
Speaker 11 (25:47):
I don't want to mention any names, but there are
people who think your jersey shouldn't be retired, and you
went back on some of them on Twitter. What do
you have to say to some of those people who
were like, no, CC doesn't belong having jersey retired, because
I think it absolutely should be retired.
Speaker 6 (26:02):
I think it's hilarious.
Speaker 5 (26:05):
CC.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Before you answer, let's be honest here. Okay, in a
moment of honesty. Okay, Mike Francesa said he doesn't think
that you deserve it. Yesterday and Taylor your biggest fan.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
I knew they were gonna throw me under the bus.
This is not a me Verse CC thing. This is
me Vers Monument Park, where I think only like five
numbers for Yankee history should be retired. That's I knew
mike Y was gonna run me over.
Speaker 11 (26:27):
I said, I'm not mentioned in any name I think
it's hilarious, man.
Speaker 9 (26:32):
I mean, I'm super excited to be able to go
on Monument Park. Like I said, it's it's hard to
something to do, to be able to come here and play.
I think I'm only the third free agent, you know,
non Yankee to be able to come in here or do that.
Roger Merrison and and uh and Reggie Jackson. So when
you have a chance to do something cool as a Yankee,
(26:52):
you know you're next to some cool names and forever Now,
no matter what anybody says, my number is in Monument Park,
and every time you go to that state him, you'll
see number fifty two.
Speaker 6 (27:01):
And to be honest, I've never ever.
Speaker 9 (27:02):
In my life seen Mike Francesca around the stadium.
Speaker 6 (27:05):
At the stadium, it is a straight clown. So whatever
he says, I don't take. I don't take what a
grain of.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Salt in fairness, he said you were a great pitcher.
He also said that Reggie Jackson's jersey should.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
Not be retired there exactly.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
And he feels like he should be in charge of
whose jersey gets retired there about exactly.
Speaker 6 (27:26):
He probably feel like he should be running the team.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Now I'm torn. I love CC and I love frand SUSSI.
Speaker 6 (27:31):
I don't know what to do.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
This is terrible. Oh god, CEC.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
Do you enjoy like today's baseball is different even from
when you retired. The game has changed a lot, and
I think for the better. I think Rob Manford deserves
a ton of credit. Do you like today's baseball the
style of it?
Speaker 3 (27:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (27:49):
I do.
Speaker 9 (27:50):
I mean, I mean it's something that wee can digest right,
Like it's two and a half hours.
Speaker 6 (27:54):
You know, there's no chifs. We've got a lot more action.
Speaker 9 (27:57):
You know, the stolen based rules have been you know,
kind of helping guys to go thirty for thirty, thirty,
forty forty show ay, fifty to fifty. Yeah, so I do.
I mean, I really like the abs. I think fans
have kind of reacted to that. But I'm just watching,
like you know, when I go to Yankee Stadium now,
like kids are back at the ballpark in the middle
of the week, you know, during the school during the
school year, because you know the game's going to be
(28:18):
over by you know, nine thirty nine forty five. So
I think the games in a great spot and you know,
hopefully we'll just continue to grow it and you know,
just see these great players, you know, you know, kind
of shine. But yeah, it is completely different than when
I played, because when I was playing, we were playing
four and a half hour Yankee red sized games.
Speaker 6 (28:35):
You know.
Speaker 9 (28:35):
The other day they played in two twenty three, which
is great, y.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
Ce.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
See who would be on your mount Rushmore of teammates
that you've played with.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
Oh wow, not just skills, wow, people that you.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
Enjoyed sharing a clubhouse.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
Wow, that's good.
Speaker 6 (28:49):
Yeah. Trot Nixon wow with Cleveland.
Speaker 9 (28:53):
Yeah, but around Mixon with Cleveland, he was He taught
me how to win.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Man.
Speaker 9 (28:57):
He taught me how to like go out there and
every day, you know, go out there and win.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
But be honest, doesn't look like somebody you want to
hang out with, like Trot Nixon. Looks like a little
bit of a jerk.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Just just based our physical appearance. Guy, Yes, right, yes, okay.
Speaker 6 (29:13):
I would put Guardie up there, sure, yeah, sure, I'll
put Guardia up there. I'm putting Jeter in there for sure. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
And Pettit oh wow, wow, wow.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
A game for your life, Like you have to start okay,
you have to choose one of these two guys to
start a game that you have to win. Your life
depends on it. Okay, Andy Pettitt, David kom who you're
going with?
Speaker 9 (29:37):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with Andy Pettitt. I'm gonna go
to teach just because I've seen it with my own
two eyes. Okay, you know what I mean, Like I
understand what what you know?
Speaker 6 (29:46):
He is in big.
Speaker 9 (29:47):
Games and you know, every every game clincher in nine.
He started those games, you know in Minnesota, and you
know in Anaheim, and then you know Game six here
against the Phillies. So I'm gonna just go with Andy
because you know, you know I was able to witness it.
Speaker 11 (30:02):
Okay, cz Is He mentioned your your run with the Brewers,
and while I loved having you with the Yankees, I
was a little upset that we no longer got to
see you back as much as in the Bronx. Do
you feel like you walked so show heyl Tony could run.
Speaker 9 (30:17):
I feel like that treell Willis walked so show right
like Trail would be a better example. Obviously playing in
the National League for a long time. But yeah, man,
I wish I would have got my shot to hit
a lot more.
Speaker 6 (30:29):
I loved hitting. I just love taking VP. Like in the.
Speaker 9 (30:32):
National League, having a chance to take VP every day
was was was really fun. And then you know, even
like late in the game and when the managers like,
hey go put your cleats on, you might pains shit,
like it keeps you in the game.
Speaker 6 (30:41):
It keeps you like you know, a good teammate.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
Yeah, there's a ton of hardware behind you where you're
sitting right now.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
What is what is behind you there? Like? What is
are there? Are their World Series trophies? What's going on there?
Speaker 9 (30:51):
It's a World Series trophy up there. But it's a
Warren Spawn Award. So the Warren Spain Award goes to
the best lefty in the big leagues every year. And
I had a chance to win it seven eight, o nine.
So that's the three. It's a really really cool statue.
You go to Oklahoma City to get it and outside
of the you know, of the arena out there where
(31:12):
you get the the statue, it's the actual it's the
actual statue of Lawrence Spawn.
Speaker 6 (31:17):
You know, huge, So it's pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (31:18):
See I hate to quote this guy, but Mike Francesa
told us she just made a quick comment. He was like,
imagine what it would have been like for the Yankees
or what it would be like right now if they
didn't win that nine World Series? What would that have
been like? Like what how important was that O nine
World Series just to Yankees legacy? Given that you know
before that it would have been two thousand.
Speaker 6 (31:39):
You know what I had I hadn't.
Speaker 9 (31:41):
I hadn't thought about that until you know, like recently,
and even the importance of opening that new stadium, right
like people wouldn't we want to go to the stadium
if we hadn't won that first year, it would be like, oh,
they shouldn't have torn down the old one. You know,
it would have been all of this, so like having
a chance to win that first year, you know, the
new stadium, like moving over my first year here aj
(32:03):
switch like it. I mean, it definitely helped out, you
know because it's been sixteen years now, So yeah, it
would have been what I mean it was the last
time they won would have been two thousand.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Yeah, two thousand.
Speaker 9 (32:14):
Yeah, that would have been a crazy drop.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
Yep, CC, we'll get you out of here in just
a second. Are you enjoying the broadcasting portion of your
career here? You're doing a weekly show on NBC. Are
you enjoying all of this?
Speaker 9 (32:26):
Yeah, I love it, man. I have fun with having
a chance to watch the game in a different light.
I mean I consume baseball like crazy, man. I mean
I'm watching, you know, young guys. I'm watching the n
L Central. It's so many great guys in L Central.
Whether it's you know, guys on the Pirates kind of Griffin,
Paul Schimes, JJ Weatherholt, Jordan Walker in Saint Louis. I mean,
(32:46):
you got South Stewart and Ellie. I can go on
and on. So having a chance to get that out
every week is really fun.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
All right, one more time on the way out, and
we appreciate your time and we hope to do it
more often.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
We like you a lot. Tell us what you're doing
on behalf of merk.
Speaker 9 (32:59):
Yeah, playing with heart dot com is an educational, you know,
website that you can go out and check for a
dogs that can check uh you know, and have have
their doctor check about backclaster all and you know, heart disease. So,
like I said, it's something that's near to near and
dear to me because I dealt with it and and
uh it's it's easy for me to endorse things that
you know, are you know close to my actual heart?
Speaker 1 (33:21):
Yes, well said, Let's let's do this. It would be
a thrill for me to reunite you and Ryan Ruco.
I'd like to have the two of you on together.
Let's make that happen soon, CEC.
Speaker 6 (33:31):
We do it. That'd be great.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
I can't believe you're both agreed with Taylor's ridiculous to you,
that's so ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
CC, thank you man. We appreciate that.
Speaker 6 (33:41):
Seeing man, no problem. Thanks for having me on.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
Guys, all right, thank you.
Speaker 3 (33:44):

Speaker 2 (34:18):
I cannot believe. C. C.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Sabbathi agreed him and Ryan Ruco both agree with Taylor's
ridiculous Yankee take. It is unbelievable. We will get to
that in just a second. Let's take a call eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox. That's eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox. Let's go to Jason in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Speaker 12 (34:35):
Go ahead, Jason, Yeah, Israel, I have a hypothetical for you.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
Feel for it, Okay, would for a.
Speaker 12 (34:44):
Million dollars for one year, would you run two miles
every day on South Beach? But your running form has
to mimic the great sprinter Steven Sagalf.
Speaker 5 (34:58):
Are you now looking up Steven seagalsk No, because my
auntswers absolutely. I would run two miles in any form
you need me to for a full year for a
million dollars. Sounds like an easy job.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
I would if I could.
Speaker 11 (35:13):
I'd run five hundred feet and then bend over trying
to catch my breath.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
Because then the is Jason still there? No Jason here?
Speaker 2 (35:21):
I need you.
Speaker 5 (35:22):
Jason, Portsmouth, Virginia. Have you ever been to the Portsmouth Invitational.
Speaker 12 (35:27):
Oh about fifteen years ago.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
Yeah, okay, all right, I didn't even know it was
still happening out there. It seems it's a big event
in the NBA story.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
What what a ridiculous question?
Speaker 12 (35:39):
Yes, well, the funny thing is when they advertise it
on the local radio, they said, what the likes of
Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodden and John Stocked it. Yeah, that's
where they stopped. It's in a little while, you know.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
That for a while. All right, Thank you for the call,
Jason Mikey.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Yeah, you're definitely running two miles, attempting to run two
miles for two million dollars every day like Steven Sagal.
Speaker 5 (36:06):
How does Stephen Sagal run weird?
Speaker 2 (36:07):
It's weird. Check it out.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
I know exactly what he's talking about. Me and Hawk
just did an episode on Steven Segal. Therefore I'm an
expert on him. I tell her you're doing that, yes, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I mean he's paying me too much do that for
far less. I mean, I try it. I'm telling you
I cannot run two miles right now. There's just no
way in any form. I just can't do it. Are
you now looking up Steven Sagal's running style. Do you
(36:29):
see what he's talking about?
Speaker 2 (36:36):
It's harder than you think for two miles?
Speaker 5 (36:38):
Is not that far? Yes, but yes I would.
Speaker 6 (36:40):
What do we do here?
Speaker 1 (36:41):
I love what happened during CC Sabbathia Sports Radio broke
out because CC unexpectedly agreed with Taylor, like Ryan Rucco
yesterday about trading Paul Skiing straight up or not trading
Paul Skiing straight up for Cam Schlitzler.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
And then Mikey got mad at him and threw him
under the bus.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
And so I I don't know what to do with
all of this, and I certainly don't know. I don't
think CC meant it. I think it got caught up
in the moment. No one, nobody agrees with that. It's
a ridiculous take.
Speaker 4 (37:09):
Go ahead, let me give you a blind test right here,
Player A versus Player B.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
All right, so this is a blind test. Do we
have to close our eyes or what do we do here?
Speaker 4 (37:17):
Everybody close their eyes at home unless they're driving. Then
those people can keep their eyes.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
I'm gonna keep my eyes open. Second, see the clock?
Speaker 2 (37:23):
All right, Okay, I'll keep them closed.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
Player A has nine point three k's per nine. Player
B has ten point six case per nine. Okay, player
A has four point two strikeouts per walk. Player B
has eight point one seven strikeouts per walk. Yeah, player
A has a two four eight ERA. Player B has
(37:45):
a one point five to one ERA. Which player are
you taking?
Speaker 5 (37:49):
I mean that sounds like a player B all day?
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Yeah, I am onto your games. I have played this game.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
I'm a KG sports radio veteran. I'm proud of you
for trying this on me. But I'm taking player A.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
Yeah, the worst player.
Speaker 6 (38:01):
Yeah, I'm taking the younger one.
Speaker 4 (38:03):
Congratulations, you guys took Paul Skeins, who has very worse
numbers than Cam Schlittler. This has just been all one
big win for me because I was saying this before
the season, and now Cam Schlitzler every start he looks
more and more like a cy young And.
Speaker 5 (38:16):
I'm pretty sure after today Paul skeens Is era is
above three. So those numbers need to be updated.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Listen, he got the validation he needed. It wasn't Ryan Ruco,
it was CC's a bath of all people.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
CE later
