Speaker 4 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Ad Dan Burker to join us. At about fifteen minutes.
Taylor is obsessed with the Yankees and Aaron Boone and
where he's spending his off day.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
What is what is happening with you and Aaron Boon?
What is Aaron Boone doing?

Speaker 5 (00:38):
Taylor?

Speaker 6 (00:38):
So Aaron Boone spent the off day in Chapel Hill.
He's a big North Carolina fan because his son, I believe,
is a manager on the football team. So any chance
Aaron Boone can get to go to Chapel Hill, he
normally takes it. And the UNC football team posted a
picture of Aaron Boone and Bill Belichick together at the

(00:58):
facility and their caption, it's great to have Yankees manager
Aaron Boone stop by today. I want to preface this.
I like Aaron Boone. You guys know that Aaron Boone
is my guy. Yeah, But if I saw a picture
and he wasn't my guy, and I saw a picture
of him and Bill Belichick, I'd probably say something like
two guys who have no idea how to score for
at least seventy five percent games?

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Can a guy be your guy? If you've tried to
fire him? On National Radio sixteen domes put it on
a bowl.

Speaker 6 (01:23):
And again he's my guy. And I would never say this,
but some people would say it's two guys who are
lost without their MVP that carried them. Tom Brady, Aaron Judge.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Right, are you doing stand up right now? On Bellachack
and Aaron BOONEH.

Speaker 6 (01:38):
No, Aaron Boon's my guy. I would never say that.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
Now we know, we know, get him on the show.
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
I was sim Mikey. Bill Rasmussen passed away. He's the
co founder of ESPN. I was fortunate enough, as were you,
to work there for many many years. Had a chance
to meet Bill. Talk to Bill. He's a pioneer. He's
a trailblazing pioneer. He started, he co founded ESPN, and

(02:02):
so naturally anyone who has worked for him who's gotten
to know him.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
The tributes were pouring in.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
I'm not certain if you have heard this, if you're
aware of this, are you aware of what happened here
on First Take today? They were eulogizing Bill Rasmussen.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah, I did hear this, and I could think only
of your former show and a certain person on Tuesdays
who used to be walked into a heart.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Out, Yes, even while the host was wearing a clock
on his head, a hard network out. So here is
the tribute. I tell you want to set this up.
Who was doing First Take today? Because it's August and
Steven A. Smith ain't doing it, so that's a great question.
It definitely was not Steven A.

Speaker 6 (02:47):
Smith. I don't have the answer to who was hosting today, right,
but this was the show as it was wrapping up
into the lead of the next show coming up, and
they're very clearly up against a a a hard out.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Time, all right, So just keep in mind the person
there eulogizing is the co founder of ESPN.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
He's a legend.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
You'd want to spend some time and really, yes, give
him his flowers.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
Yes, he's deserving of it. I'll play the sun.

Speaker 7 (03:15):
Coop early to try to catch it on the news.
So now we got sports all day every day.

Speaker 8 (03:20):
His legacy lives on.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Hello, beautiful, big and welcome to our humble.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
It's tucking on this big Paul Tuesday, exactly what he envisioned.

Speaker 9 (03:37):
That's so bad. I feel terrible for everyone involved.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
It's just such a hard intro to like come in
right at that moment.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yes, that's not a topic you tackle with a hard
network out. I mean you got to spread out and
take some time and honor Bill Rasmussen in a way
that's better.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Than first he did today. That's terrible.

Speaker 6 (04:01):
And I love Pat McAfee. I I want to get
that out there on the front of fan huge fan
of love that it's it's not Pat McAfee's fault that
he's all over the place and he's dominating the sports
media landscape right now. But there is something symbolic about
this sound where it's ESPN, it's ESPN, it's ESPN boom,

(04:22):
it's Pat McAfee right.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
In your face.

Speaker 9 (04:25):
We don't have time for tributes because we have to
get to a former bunter. That's amazing.

Speaker 7 (04:33):
Play it again, please up early to try to catch
it on the news. So now we got sports all
day every day.

Speaker 8 (04:40):
His legacy lives on Hello something.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
And welcome to our stuck it Up Paul Tuesday.

Speaker 9 (04:53):
It's just so harsh, so hard.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Well, that's why it's hard network out.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
I mean, and you know there's an Iowa sam in
somebody's ear going three.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Two please rap, yes, And I think it was Courtney Cronin,
and poor Courtney. I mean, she had three seconds and
try to say what you wanted to say, which is
why you don't do it up against the hard network out.
You spread out, You take your time, you're on to
the man. They didn't do that. They did this play
it again.

Speaker 7 (05:23):
Coup early to try to catch it on the news.
So now we got sports all day every day.

Speaker 8 (05:29):
His legacy lives on Hello, You're.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
Welcome to our.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Stuck it up on this big Paul Tuesday.

Speaker 6 (05:41):
So I actually don't even think this is Courtney Cronin's
fault there because you're looking at the you're looking at
the panel. It was Devin mccordy, Evan Cohen, Chris Canty,
Nice the I this is only audio for us right now.
The person who is at fault here, it's whoever tosses
it to Courtney Cronin because he basically tosses her a

(06:03):
hot potato with one second left to try to fill time. Yeah,
that person, this is like the situation Mikey said with
Greg Cody, where it's like, I'm gonna lead Greg Cody
as close as i can to the hard networkout and
then with one second left whatever he tries to get.
The person who hands the ball off to Courtney Cronin
hands her the ball off with like two seconds.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
I believe that person was Chris Canny.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
I do.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
I believe that might be Devin mccordy, though too, it
might be it wasn't Evan Cohen.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
He would not vote you the chance to tip it in.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
You know what I mean? Yeah, give him a chance.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Yes, Like she needs at least like fourteen second fifteen
seconds to wrap it up, to put a bow on it, right.

Speaker 6 (06:43):
Or else her thoughts would have just been great person.
Mcafew show next.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
All right, so let's break this down. We're gonna play
it one more time.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Let's listen to the person who is throwing it back
to Courtney Cronin, who is hosting today's first take.

Speaker 5 (06:56):
Play it one more done.

Speaker 7 (06:57):
Coup early to try to catch on the news. So
now we got sports all day every day.

Speaker 8 (07:03):
His legacy lives on Hello.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
White, Stuckardum on this Big Paul Tuesday.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
It was Canty, Mikey, I know it's coming, and it
still scares me every time.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
We play it. Every time it's just so harsh. Yes,
it's unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Adnan Urk is going to join us. He's on a
quest to meet Roger Feederer.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
It is.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
It is so weird, Taylor, what are you more excited
for of all the things that are kind of on
the sports menu right now? Baseball postseason? Because me and
Mikey are really locked into football right now. I feel
like you're a little bit behind because you're obsessed with baseball.
You're focused on North Carolina, You're focused on where Avon
Boon is spending it off day.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
You are so.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Upset that Bill Belichick is the head coach of your
North Carolina Tar Hill football team.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
But what are you most excited for?

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Because this is the best time for me on the
sports calendar US open. You have that in tennis. I
love tennis. Ad Dan loves tennis. We'll talk tennis with
ad Dan and some baseball coming up here in a minute.
But you have baseball postseason, you have the NFL, and
you have college football.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
And for me, this is just for me.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
The second that college football and the NFL starts, all
the other stuff just goes away.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Whatever interest I had in baseball, it goes away until
we get to the World Series. So what do you
winto here, Like, what are you most excited about during
the best time on the sports calendar?

Speaker 6 (08:36):
Taking my fandom out of it, because with my fandom
in it, it's gonna be Yankees baseball and riding or
dying with this Yankee team going through the postseason. But
once you separate that part of it, it's college football.
College football to me is the gold standard. You look
forward to every Saturday, from the big noon kickoff start

(08:57):
of it all the way through the Hawaii games at
that are ending at like two thirty in the morning.
I'm watching every snap. I'm googling at eleven thirty, how
do I get this Hawaii game on my TV? So
for me, it's college football, the NFL. I'm gonna watch
it because it's a Sunday and it's the NFL is
still king. But in terms for me, college football is

(09:19):
my gold standard.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
I think the first Sunday of the NFL season is
certainly a top five sports day because you not only
get the NFL and it's the first week and you're
glued to it because you're gambling and you know you
have fantasy teams and it's the.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
NFL it started.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
But after the one o'clock games, at four fifteen roughly
you get the US Open Men's Final.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
It is delightful. It is such a great day. I
can't wait for it.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
But that's interesting that you're more into college football and
you're not alone, by the way, it's our second most
popular sport, but you are more interested and more excited
about college football than you are the NFL. That's interesting
to me.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
Yeah, I grew up watching more college football and just
like the pageantry that comes with college football. And I
also think that it's a day of the week thing
where Saturday college football, you still have NFL Sunday to
look forward to. Right NFL Sunday. Around that four o'clock window.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
There's a sadness.

Speaker 6 (10:12):
Yeah, yeah, I start getting sad and I'm like, man,
this work week's coming and we only have one football
game tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
For me, the sadness sets in when I see that
sixty minutes clock.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Yeah, it just drives me crazy. Oh yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Is there any worse feeling though, than when you've got
like a four o'clock game that you were excited about,
but then like the quarterbacks out and now you've just
got a bunch.

Speaker 6 (10:34):
Of just duds football, a lot of eight and O'Connell.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
Oh no, does eighty O'Connell live in the four o'clock spot?
Is that where he lives? His address is four pm
Eastern on Sundays.

Speaker 6 (10:48):
Yeah, it's like an eight and O'Connell versus Cooper Rush
matchup coming up.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
There is such a difference between the four o'clock games
and the four twenty games.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Four twenty games.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Are like the Super Bowl four o'clock games or games
you would never watch, you know.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Watch unless you get a really bad injury in that
four twenty game and it's like, oh no, they all stink.

Speaker 5 (11:08):
Yeah, but you'll still watch it, of course.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 6 (11:11):
I mean we're like we're like pigs in mud. We're
gonna we're gonna scoop everything up and watch you put
you put a Mac football game right now on my TV.
I'll watch all four quarters.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
College football man, what an amazing thing. Seriously, our second
most popular sport to actual professional football.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Live our next guest. He doesn't care that football is
right around the corner. He's got a tennis tournament right
around the corner of the USS Opening. He's knee deep
in baseball. Ad Nan Verk and his flappy heads joins us.
Right now, you're getting ready to it. Yes, they got
floppy and not floppy. It's floppy. It's flappy body, just

(12:02):
a floppy head set. Still keep it tight.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
But you're absolutely right you askeday, I'm locked in with
a great Tom Verducci. Were watching White Sox and Cubs
Battle of Chicago. Who would have thought middle of August
Battle of Chicago's the best thing going in sports. I
have another buddy because I had another eye on the
Cincinnati Open. I'm watching the Masters over there. It's a great,
great event of course, leading up to the US Open
just a week or so away, and we are a
week away specifically for me seeing my man Roger Federer,

(12:26):
back at the US Open, a glorified exhibition match. He
John McEnroe, Andre agascy Andy Roddick. I'll be there a
week from now in Flushing in Queen's And the key
question for.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
You is this.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
I'll tell you, well, I know this. Guess the dollar
mount that I'm paying. I'll tie the exact amount, and
then let's guess how long the match will actually be.
So Mike k first off, how much do you get
paid for Paara tickets?

Speaker 5 (12:46):
I love this.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Roger Feeder returned to the US Open, first time in five years.
Paara tickets. Guess the price?

Speaker 4 (12:50):
How many kids do you have?

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Because I would have guessed one of them? A great,
great question. So four boys, one of my boys, it's
one of my boys, meet him, two tickets going to
the US.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
With the boys fighting hold on Mikey before ant, with
the boys fighting over who gets to go.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Let's say two of the boys for DNA ship. One
of my kids is genuinely upset. He's like Roger Federer.
I'm like, yeah, He's like, I don't see Federer, Like
I know, I know.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
I thought Daddy made him up.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
He's a real guy. The best part is Mikey knows
about kids. Is they believe everyone likes super Hero. I'm like, oh,
he's actually Batman in addition to being the greatest tennis
player of all five hundred bucks.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
Good guess, Taylor, six hundred dollars.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
I guess I have to play this.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
Like the price is right six oh one a man,
so threety four apiece a pair of tickets is running
me seven eighty four, seven eighty four for a pair
of tickets exactly, And I'm like, I trusted my agent.
I just said, listen, give me the best tickets available.
So we're hoping that I'm going to be court side,
you know, for a tennis match. But I don't know
I could be. I mean we're not going to be

(13:54):
close enough that you could touch them. I mean, haven't
that close enough that I could get his attachment. That's
a Roger could smell him, scream him, touch him something, right, Brazich,
I can do. So here's the next question, how long
does the match go? And I don't know they answer this.
I was asking some Tennis channel people and they go,
I got paid seven hundred and eighty four dollars here,
I get think if you can maybe play forty five minutes.

Speaker 5 (14:15):
They might yes.

Speaker 6 (14:18):
Like that.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
So let's do the numbers of this. Roger's mid forties.
I think he's forty four, Rodick's forty three. Agacy is
fifty six. I can roll. I think he's like sixty six.

Speaker 5 (14:28):
I think he is.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Yes, yes, yes, no, out like it's outrageous to expect
two hours of tennis.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
There's no way you're getting two hours of tennants from
those four.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
I'm not the federer is the only one who could
do It's I'm trying to tell myself they're gonna go
three full sets two hours because there's no are you
gotta here mind? John Macker is gonna pass out. It's
probably two sets, and even then, what's the full exertion?
Ninety minutes tops right for seventy four, but this could
be thirty minutes. They could go out there, Roger might
give a speech, They hit around a little bit. That's

(14:59):
a included in the price. You get to see Roger
wore them up. And then it's thirty minutes, one set,
race to six, six to one. Mother, what's what's the
pairing going to be? It's got to be Roger and Macroe.
I give it's Roger and Roddick versus Agassy Macarrol, like
that could be a dusting.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
You have to put McEnroe with the best of the four,
with the best of the other three. So it has
to be Macroroe and Roger Federer, I would think, right,
said McEnroe's sixty plus years of age.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
I'm pissed with macro be it's him in Agasy. He's
like the two old funks are going to get the
two guys forty three and forty four, one of who
is the greatest player of all time. Right, Macro's actually
doughts sent up for this.

Speaker 5 (15:34):
Right.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
The matter I don't know is how much is macro
getting paid for this? Not I gonna find out about
twenty five grand? Fifty grand? What are they throwing macam
for forty five minutes?

Speaker 5 (15:43):
Would you pay for those tickets?

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Again?

Speaker 2 (15:44):
How much?

Speaker 1 (15:44):
What was it the pair seven eighty four? For the
pairs it's on stadium court? Yeah, oh Mcaroe's getting paid.
He's getting paid a lot. And he will decide when
it's over. You will not decide that. John McEnroe will
decide when this match is over. If he's tired, it's over.

Speaker 5 (15:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Yeah. The best part of this might be like when
you go to see a concert and you say I
can't wait to see this, but then somebody else was
even better. So, for example, I heard it go Buddies
went and sell Public Enemy? Are you kidding? Public Dmy's
still going, I'm like, yeah, my friend was. I gonna
be honest, who doesn't love Public Enemy back the day
me and stew of course grew up in the eighties nineties,
he said, And I saw them maybe ten years ago
because they were still really good. It was now Chuck
D's in his sixties, like f the established after Like,

(16:22):
it's not quite the same when you might need to
walk her, he said, But the main event was guns
and roses. I go, wait, a second Public Enemy opened
for guns and roses? Like yeah, because a matter of fact,
I think it's coming to med life, because you should
go see them in New Jersey. I'm like, but I'm
such a jerk and this is no dis against Slash
and all the rest of it Axel Rose. But I'm
a much bigger Public Enemy fan. Like I would go

(16:44):
for Public Enemy, maybe stay for a bid of guns
and roses, but they're not breaking. I'd leave. He goes, oh, my, God,
but the tickets are rageous. You would go for the
opening act. You're gonna go for forty five minutes of public
m and they just leave. If you're gonna pay three
in as, you might just hang around. I go, who
just play here in November rain for the fiftieth time?
I like, okay, fine, I guess that's the point. But
with the guards Confederate, I'm going just for Roger. But
how funny will be?

Speaker 5 (17:04):
I tell you guys?

Speaker 2 (17:04):
Two weeks later, I gotta be honest, fellas, Andy Ronnick
stole the show Like Andy, Yes, yes, Samanna is going
behind the back, He's going through the legs, he's doing
one liners. He brought Brooklyn Decker. Like where Andy Roddick
steals the show?

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Hashtag hashtag team Ronick? I mean, how about that?

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Well, the big I got to find a hashtag team Roger.
If indeed Andrew Brandt is going to be there?

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Yeah, brand is there. Oh I'm surprised. I figured that
was the plus one for you. I'm shocked that you're
taking one of your kids. How dare you? The brand's
gonna be furious with you? I mean me and a
shirtless Andrew Brandt. Wait, so do you wear fed gear
to the FED match? How does that work?

Speaker 2 (17:47):
I mean, I think that's gonna happen, right, I don't know,
but I definitely have to wear I'm wearing the Federer's shirt,
of course, Federal shoes. I got my shoes, the Federal
shoes I have. So I think it's it's literally neck
to neck to I just don't know if I'm gonna
wear the head band. The head band might be aggressed.
It's like, dam I'm bringing a headband. I'm like clown
to wear headbands.

Speaker 5 (18:06):
That might be the one.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (18:08):
Now I'm thinking of somebody going to an MLB game
wearing the full pants and a full jersey, and the
first thing you would say is what's wrong with that guy?

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Yes, yes, exactly, yes, but Ada doesn't care.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
At this point's a badge of honors to who's really
Someone sees it like, go wow, that tracks like that
guy is just as psychotic as I thought. I heard
it with Stercoats and all his friends. He's like wow,
He's like, it's such a Federer fan. What a psycho.
I'm like, yep, it is exactly tracting. By the way,
this is just a precursor we all know what's happening
for that, which is Rogers being inducted in the Tennis.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
Hall of Fame. Wow.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
So that is Friday and Saturday of next week. Newport's
about three and a half hour drive, beautiful little city.
Rode down the Great J. W. Stewart, former Eastian anchors
from Rhode Island when we first moved. He goes, Dude,
you gotta go to Newport. You'll love it. And I
went just for specifically to see International Test Hall of Fame.
You get to play on the grass courts.

Speaker 5 (18:53):
It's awesome.

Speaker 7 (18:54):
Now.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
A friend of mine was just in Newport's too, a
couple weeks ago with his own family vacation. He's like, bro,
get ready, I go what he goes, The avalanche of
Newport is not a major city, I'm correct, He goes.
The amount of people coming just for Federer and Mary
Curl on the undercard also being inducted in.

Speaker 5 (19:07):
The Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
Don't want to slam on Mary. He goes. People are
coming from Basel, from Zurich, Switzerland. They're coming here to
see Roger, and then your stupid butt's coming from New Jersey.
There's me way too many people in Newport, Rhode Island.
That that city can handle, you know, just just the hotels,
the congestion, the traffic of the food. I'm like, well,
it's old money. Mean, there's all of rich people there.

(19:27):
Just get ready for a hundred dollars parking. I'm just
telling you, so, how about this? This is where the
stew Gotts is strong in me. Great. I looked at
the ticket prices and I said, I've got to go
there dressed up, headed to him. REGI and I go,
these ticket prices and we're not gonna go around the
horn on this one because you guys aren't going to
get the price. The prices for Roger Federer's induction ceremony Saturday,
August twenty ninth, at six thirty eastern, we're going for
two thousand dollars. Jesus. I said that that is outrageous.

(19:51):
When was the last time I've been to Cooperstown. We
went for my buddy Timmy Kirchen induction speech. I think Tim'
speech was fifteen minutes, memorized off the cup. Incredible. How
long's Roger gonna go? Maybe thirty minutes? Two thousand dollars?
I said that that can't be right. So I did
the move which stew Gotts would do. I applied for
media credential. Oh that's my man.

Speaker 9 (20:11):
Yeah, that's the ste Gods is so very strong in you.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
I am so proud of you. I've never been prouder.
I want to hug you. Media credential for two to
four on Friday when she's playing on the grass court
at the Hall of Fame, and then media credential for
the induction ceremony. And I put it in there, and
what's your company's affiliation? Now? Do I beat brazen in lines?
I work for the Tennis Channel and just hope they
call my bluff hashtag team. That's it, go asking Weissman

(20:37):
Weisman with Voucher May Weisman out, he's with me. He's
a producer, camera guy research at the Alley's see show sure? Yes?
Or do I put MLB Network? I put MLB Network
and I and I wrote like an explain because I
wrote the original one. They wrote back with we'd like
some more information as to why you are covering it,
like we we can see you're an accredited journalist, but
why exactly are you here for Roger Fetter Emily Network.

(20:58):
I said, well, I'm gonna do an essay, but the
greatest athletes in all sports, and I want to see
how Roger's speech compares to all the great speeches all
of famers have done. In addition to that, I work
for Metal Arc Media. I'm a correspondent, So we go
to tell that story there and the horse added Fox
Sports Radio, Big Big Fox. I go Stucatt's national radio show.
I'm a correspondent for the show. I'm their tennis experts
to be perfectly blunt, and so I need to.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Give my recap to their buddy.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
I wait with data, breath comes back. You've been approved.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
I'm like, yeah, any other year would it took you
two seconds to get approval on that?

Speaker 2 (21:32):
But not this year? Right the fact they put the
initial request and it was like, can we get a
little more information on this, a little more color? This
is a little yeah, I cut backstrong, No problem, You're
in so Newport, Rhode Island.

Speaker 5 (21:44):
Here we come.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
I'm gonna get to watch Roger on the grass. And
then the dext't sera butt now. Of course, now we
get greedy, like I tell a couple of guys at
work to go, are you gonna get meet him? And
I go away. You have the credential.

Speaker 6 (21:54):
You're in the room.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
The greed never stops.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Yes, there's gonna be a press conference clearly before speed.
If you sile up right to the front. Hey, guy's
gonna quick one on one. I mean aside from worthim
in Tennis channel and I'm sure Naldi's there. Those choppers
are gonna get five minutes with Rodri because you don't
think it for all these season and go Heynaldy, just
can you introduce me two minutes. I don't put the heart.

(22:19):
I might get exclusive one on one with Roger and
we're gonna air it right here. He's so excited, Go ahead, bikey.
I forgot what I was gonna say.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
He got Yes, No, he's just I imagine him with
the credential, getting the Federate.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
It's a very heavy play. Gets a free ticket.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
He gets access to Federer if he can get close
enough to him, if he can get by Andrew Brandt.
But I just imagine ad Dan going up there and
pretending like he's getting well, asking Roger for the interview,
and then not being able to say a single word
because he's just gazing at him.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
It's a great point, like It's like I should at
least have the auspice of some equipment. I can't just
go up there. You have to Hey, Roger, cab a minute. Sure,
and then I go, I'm gonna record you a.

Speaker 5 (23:05):
Bike over again. You gotta sell it that. Then you
have to you have.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
To bring a camera, a cam court for god, a
bike flash, something like. Okay, there you go, Roger, Like,
at least bring these crappy headphones with me. It looks like, okay,
he's plugging them into something. If I go up there
with my hands in my box and the iPhone, I'm
just gonna stare at him. I get too many. Sure
you should just stare at You should bring a crew.
As for more credentials is the credential shows up. Taylor

(23:33):
comes from New York to Newport of Island.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
I'm thinking about sending Tailor there just to film you
about that.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
The best part is Featherer and Taylor will hit it
off and leave Adan out.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
Yes, sEH, I'm in Taylor. What a guy. I had
five minutes alloted. Yeah, he just talked to Taylor the
whole time. North Carolina. Yeah, don't I don't build their time.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
About you want to come to dinner, right, I have
Taylor hitting balls with Federer by the end of the day.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
I mean that Igine rogero Flist. I was going to
talk to you, but he's the superior athlete. I mean,
clearly he looks like it could handle.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
My Yes, I desperately want to try to get this
a baseball because you and I are the only ones
who enjoyed talking tennis.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
But I do have one quick question.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
What do you think is going to be longer the
match he's playing in, the exhibition match or his Hall
of Fame speech?

Speaker 5 (24:19):
I mean which one great point? It's a tough one.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Thin Go ahead.

Speaker 5 (24:23):
You want the speech to be longer, right you do?

Speaker 2 (24:25):
I want to speech, no question like thinking how many
times you've been in situations. You know what it's like.
Senior daughters graduate the commencement. You go, we just right
the whole thing. We want the thing to wrap up, right,
So graduate high school and you go, I love you,
but just let's let's get to the chase. We don't
need long commencement speeches. This is the rare example. I'm
gonna want a speech as long as possible. I'm pull out.
You're like watching feder did not take a breath. The

(24:48):
entire thing. I might be transcribing it as he's talking.
I want to miss the moment, someone will says, certainly
it's looking to me on YouTube like it's okay, but no, no,
I want to I'm a stenographer, like I'm gonna be
typing it as he's saying it, just to be in
the moment as much as possible. As stupid as that sounds.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Awful timing from Mary Carrillo. Poor Mary Carrillo going into
the Hall of Fame with Federer. I feel terrible for it.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
If Serena didn't come back, maybe it was gonna be
Serena Roger potentially together. Newport could not handle that. Could
you imagine Roger Fer being dunk in the same weep
weekend in Newport, Rhode Islands. Thank god it's Mary Reland Serena.
How bout way, how about this happens. I go to
the front and go, hey, can I just get twomuchs
of goot shirt?

Speaker 9 (25:26):
You can get Mary first. Taylor's hitting balls with Federer
and you're talking to Carrillo.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Ioink to see that happening, So you're credential. We couldn't
get your Roger, but we did get your Mary Carrilla,
and I go, that's gorud.

Speaker 5 (25:41):
I'll you got to stay that. You have to stay
in the act. You have to I mean, you just
have to thunder through it.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (25:46):
Man, I'm sure that Mary Carrillo has made great contributions
to the tennis world. But it's almost like in government
when when a speaker seeds time. Yes, I think Mary
Carrillo should seed some time to Roger Feeder for no offense.
Americ carrelas, Oh, it's a fair.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
Imagine Mary goes longer than Roger because I get im
back to public, going back to public, enemy and guns
and roses. Mary Carolla is on the undercard. So the
ceremony begins at six thirty. Mary's starting first. What if
Mary gets excited, it's a little carried away. It starts
ad libbing. You're doing the most resort you're watching. She
keeps going. She close to the top, and I gotta

(26:23):
wrap this up by said Rogers up, there's seven twenty.
Now he got squeezed to a Carrillo. I had a
lot more to say, but Mary took all my job.
So she said, she said it all. It's been great,
guys out, that's sick because of Carrillo.

Speaker 5 (26:34):
You're gonna be so furious.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
And if that happens, I want the one what I
want with Carrilla, I'm gonna take her to task.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Yeah, dare you and ask her? Ask her why the
speech was so long? Oh god, uh ad Nan, it
was a magical night in the Diamond last night.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
It really was. So many great plays, so many great games.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
Uh, Pete crow Armstrong, who do you go with in
terms of n L M vps it Otani or Pete
crow Armstrong.

Speaker 5 (26:58):
I think he's a favorite.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
Now it's he's a fascinating race to so last week
they're both the same odds minus one ten And I'm
talking to the great jap be former signing Award. We
were a two time World Series champion, I said, Jake.
These guys are pretty much comparable offensive Their ops numbers
are virtually identical. PC eight plays better defense than anybody
in the world. He tracks down everything in the center field.
Andy's an elite base runner. He's the only guy in

(27:19):
baseball is in the ninety six percentile in base running,
defense and hitting. Now, Taani again is comparable offensively. He's
pitched eighty innings of the sub two era, and JP
looked at me like I had three heads and goes,
how can you even ask me that question? I go,
but he goes, the guy is pitch eighty innings or
the sub two ra, and you're comparing him to a
guy who does everyone else's like, no, but PC. PC

(27:41):
is doing something nobody else is doing. He plays the
best defense. He is even the best defense if any
player in baseball cannot match a guy who's also pitching
with a sub two erra store in eighty innings. But
I'm telling you right now, I talked to Reduci yesterday
and Tom goes, what's the number one stat? Number one stat?
These MVP guys look at I go war, whether you
like it or not. They look at war and guess
what PCA's got him in war? From May thirtieth on,

(28:02):
PC's war is through the roof because of the offense
of the defense. Now you're talking about signature moments last night?
Are you kidding me? Walk off against the White Sox
at Wrigley Battle of Chicago? Unbelievable? Theatrics. This guy's got
thirty home runs now this season and he's cruising and
Otani isn't pitching a month because he's been hurt. Now,
Dave Robert says, Otani will pitch at some point, perhaps
as an opener, but it's not gonna be a situation

(28:23):
where he pitches one hundred and forty innings, maybe pitches
ten more innings, and it starts to become narrative, and
it starts to become voter fatigue. Is it Otani for
the fifth MVP or this guy Pca who's charismatic, exciting,
trying to lead the Cubs to the playoffs and perhaps
the division title. I'm with you right now. The slight
favorite to me is Pete crow Armstrong.

Speaker 5 (28:41):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
Good luck to you and your quest to touch Roger Federer,
meet Roger Feederer, get as close to Roger Federer as
you can. I like the idea of you going up
doing that fake interview and forgetting to hit record.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
Do you imagine the PR person goes, You've got two
minutes and they're timing, and I've done the Hollywood junkets.
They time it two minutes, okay, two minutes and I
forget to press record. Yes, and I've roger it with
my stupid little life on him. You answer my question, yeah,
but you wouldn't care you got closed. That's the point.

Speaker 5 (29:10):
Just get close to Federer.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
That's it.

Speaker 5 (29:11):
Yes, who cares?

Speaker 2 (29:12):
So it would be what it would wrap and he's
extended his hand to shake it. I would just hug him.
I would just hugging as hard as I could. I'm like,
what the credential is?

Speaker 5 (29:23):
So heady? It's how you get close to Federer.

Speaker 1 (29:25):
It's also how you avoid paying for one of your
kids to go I mean, amazing, yes, two.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Grand I'm like, come on now, the stud got's a
strong and me need your credentials to.

Speaker 5 (29:33):
Which kid would have gotten at the same gig going
to the match with you?

Speaker 2 (29:36):
Oh no, I've had to get another guy. Awful, My
god for ust to is gonna mutiny on me? Like
that's the worst you know who his favorite is.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
All Right, we we love you buddy, Thank you for
doing this. We'll talk to you again next week.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
All right, Love you guys too.

Speaker 5 (29:48):
Wish me luck. It's gonna be great.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
Our thanks to ad Nan Vierk for joining us.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
We love having him around, Mikey, have you ever loved
an athlete the way ad Nan Virk loves Roger Federer.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
Crazy I'm going to say this.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
I'm going to say this, and I'm ashamed as i'm
going to say it, but this is a safe space,
so I'm going to say, I'm not sure I love
my kids as much as he loves Roger Feedderer. And
I love my kids. I don't do anything for my kids,
but I'm not sure I love them as much as
he loves Roger Feader.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
But you could say with one hundred percent certainty that
ad Nan definitely loves Federer more than all of his kids, right.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Oh, easily, easily because you're not certain. But I'm certain
on him, you.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
Know, Yeah, No, I'm certain on him that he would
give up his kids for a half hour lesson with
Roger Federer.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
I'm guessing Taylor has had an athlete. It's bruntson right.
It has to be brought.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
He changes life, right, Brunson changes.

Speaker 6 (31:06):
So I do love Jalen Brunson from that perspective, but
we're too close in age to say like, oh I
love Jalen Brunson like that. Like growing up for me
it was Derek Cheater, Like I had the Derek Cheater posters,
you grew up wanting to be Derek Cheater. I've actually
had people who have ends with the Yankees say like,

(31:26):
maybe I could help facilitate something, and part of me
would obviously love that opportunity, but part of me too
is thinking, if I meet Derek Cheeter, I really wouldn't
have that much of a game plan besides just saying
like I grew up a big fan, and then like,
what do I really get out of that opportunity, Hey, Captain, Yeah,
I'll just mess it up if anything.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
Part of me wants to tell Adnan to avoid actually
meeting Federer because it can only be a disappointment to him. Right, Yes,
there's nothing that can happen. Yes, when he meets Roger
Federer that will live up to whatever.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
Is his head, whatever the expectation he has going into it.

Speaker 6 (32:02):
Yeah, yeah, I just I wanted it, But like how
do you burst that bubble?

Speaker 3 (32:07):
He was so happy thinking about the chance that he
might meet Federer right that I didn't want to just
say maybe maybe don't maybe just be from Afar.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Yes, he's happy just to be, you know, close to Federer.
I mean that makes him It's weird, but I love it.
I have an apput.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Yes, Mark Sanchez, Yes Sanchez.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
I mean, listen, when you're a jet fed and you've
been so bad for so long and in strolls a
quarterback from USC don't do much, but he gets you
to back to back AFC championship games.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
You'll take.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
You'll fall in love with that guy. And I fell
in love with Mark Sanchez right up until the butt
fumble they did.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
I loved him.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
He's the best quarterback I've ever had. Shocking what Sanchez?

Speaker 3 (32:52):
The old Yes, that's the old cracker in the desert
thing where you're just sitting there and you're starving, so
you eat one cracker and you think it's the best
thing you've ever eaten.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
Yes, yeah, that's that's not the same.

Speaker 5 (33:03):
It's all I got.

Speaker 7 (33:06):
It.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Taylor was telling us, and he's been trying to get
this off the ground for a couple of days something
with a video game. I haven't played video games since
I don't know nineteen ninety four, Clark University, EA sports hockey.
Every time I scored a goal, the other guy would
have to do a shot. Every time he scored a goal,
I would have to do a shot. Those were good times.
I haven't thought about video games since. I haven't played
a video game since. What is happening here, Taylor?

Speaker 6 (33:28):
Well Stue, it's perfect that you mentioned the nostalgia that
comes with video games, because one person on social media,
Jay Lucarelli, he has the game MVP Baseball two thousand
and five Wow, and his goal this past week has
been he wants to throw a perfect game on live
stream in MVP Baseball two thousand and five with roy

(33:51):
Oswalt against the Boston Red Sox on the hardest difficulty. Okay,
so he started this a week ago. Seven days later, Yeah,
and one thousand, nine hundred and ninety three attempts later,
he did it. Wow, perfect game, a comeback of the Royals.
Well fields it, perfect game secured. Congratulations? Did Jay?

Speaker 2 (34:14):
Wait? So how many times did he have to do
this before he got it right?

Speaker 6 (34:18):
Nineteen hundred and ninety three it's too you're watching this
guy's streams, say he's he did it against the Red Sox.
Every time say Mark Bellhorn's leading off, Mark Bellhorn gets
a hit. Before that ball even touches the ground, Jay
knew it was a hit. He was already back in
the lobby, back at the main menus, reloading the game

(34:39):
to go again.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
Wait, so I'm confused here because I'm old and I
haven't played video game since the mid nineties.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
People are watching other people play video games.

Speaker 6 (34:50):
Oh yeah, I mean it's a It's a massive business
now twitch YouTube What.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
My kids would rather watch others play video games then
play the video games themselves.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
That's absurd.

Speaker 6 (35:03):
That is that is a popular I agree, Yeah, I agree?

Speaker 2 (35:07):
Why because people are better at it? Like, what's the award?
I don't get it. I mean, play a game.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
I think you're a good Well, stop watching others do things,
do things, do something yourself about that get.

Speaker 6 (35:19):
Part of it is sometimes yes, the streamers are very
good at the games, but also part of it too.
It just feels like a community where you could go
in talk to talk to somebody. I got it, he's
interacting with the chat. Yes, it feels like you're part
of it.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
Yeah, so what do you do?

Speaker 1 (35:34):
So you're watching him stream, He's just he's entering a
lineup that has Roy Oswalt on it, and he's trying
to get a perfect game, and you're watching it a
thousand times.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
Yeah, blame.

Speaker 6 (35:44):
I mean, so you're just watching it. You're just watching
him over and over and then like as the game's
going on, like the sixth inning, it starts to get real.
The seventh inning, it's really real. The eighth inning, he's
he's like verbalizing, I need it. I need a quick
time out right now so I can wipe my hand
because of how sweety it is.

Speaker 5 (36:01):
Does he make sure that no one's talking to Oswalt
when he goes back to the dugout?

Speaker 2 (36:04):
I mean you can't. I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
I want to watch a live stream of what happens
after nineteen hundred and ninety three attempts at something that
you've been trying for seven days.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
And then it happens, and then what do you do
with your life? Like what is the next hour of
his life?

Speaker 3 (36:20):
Like, like, I guess I'll go make a mac and cheese, Like,
what what do you do after you've tried so hard?

Speaker 2 (36:26):
To do something and then you finally get it done.

Speaker 5 (36:28):
And why Oswalt, I mean why.

Speaker 6 (36:30):
That is a good question, Like roy Oswalt's involved me,
that's his federer. Yeah, it's probably to be honest. Roy
Oswald has to come out today because nobody has really
been talking roy Oswalt in the year twenty twenty six.
Why would they, Well, now people are talking roy Oswalt
because of this guy Jay. My favorite part of the
streams too is this was the time when pitchers were batting,

(36:54):
so he has he has the moves memorized, like if
if say it's Pedro Martinez roy Oswalt in this matchup,
he has the moves memorized where in the sixth inning,
if it's a close game, he's like, here comes Doug
Mirabelly and then like the next second on the screen
it will be like Doug Mira Belly pinch hits fo

(37:15):
Pedro Martinez.

Speaker 2 (37:16):
So good.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
My favorite part of the stream is not watching it,
ohs Waltz. Has he ever pitched a perfect game?

Speaker 6 (37:26):
No, certainly not.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
I don't think

Speaker 3 (37:29):
I think this should count right right in his personal
record book, roy Oswalt should count twenty seven up, twenty
seven down,
