Now the Phillies and Twins to have postseason aspirations. Phillies

(01:07):
Slightly Faltering Late right now in a battle for the
wild card in the National League. Wild card in the
American League up for grabs as well, as the Twins
sit just to game back with the Ranger Sandwich between
them and the Tigers for that final wild card. But
last night it had nothing to do with wild card
postseason divisions. Uh huh, none of that field of dreams.

(01:32):
Game in Dyersville, Iowa, featuring the Phillies and Twins, Kyle
Schwarber let off the game with a home run, and
then a little bit later on in the game he did.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
This, Oh, this ball's hamburg toward ryfield.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
It is high.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
It has a serious chance. Back to the wall is
Key show.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
He's at the wall and he jumps home and he
knocked it over.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
He jumped to catch it and hit.

Speaker 6 (01:52):
His glove and the ball dropped over the wall.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
What would have been a magnificent catching robbery, thievery if
you will, instead ends up in the cornstalks. Phillies win
seven to one. Schwaber let off the game and it
was a beautiful sight. Left handed hitter just ropes one
into the cornfield as it's sitting there, not yet dusk,

(02:16):
but in the twilight of the sunset. It just was
a magnificent view. And the thing that I love most
about the Field of Dreams game is just how well
everything looks. The fence is transparent, so you can see
the cornstalks through it. There is no gap between one

(02:37):
or the other. It is truly of just there's the corn.
And I would love it if the corn could actually
be the fence like in the movie, but we know
that's not gonna happen. Otherwise he's gonna have twenty seven
ground rule doubles and it would be a mess. But
how they do the fence, how they did the scoreboard
looking like an old style barn. I think the reason

(02:57):
why the catch wasn't made last night maybe because of
the color of the fence, because it tried to be
fashioned as like the old fashioned worn out wood looked
really really good though, like it is, it is appealing
to the eye. And that's what I love about it
is it's just it's I don't want to say it's perfect,
but it's darn near perfect. And last night I'm.

Speaker 7 (03:20):
Just I got it. It was I just gotta thank
you Dan.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
I saw it on I told Jason before the show,
and I truly mean this and this may be more
of an indictment on the American League. Field of dreams.
Maybe the best stadium in the American League. I'm gonna
put a third behind Fenway and Camden Yards just for longevity.
But when you look at the ballparks that you have
in the AL, You've got the Dome in Saint Pete,
You've got the concrete Rogers Center for Toronto. The A's

(03:52):
right now are playing in Sacramento at a ballpark. I
think they a lot of the great ballparks in the
National League. And this is by the way, Today was
announced that the All Star Game in twenty twenty eight
is going to San Francisco, another popular ballpark, but it
is just beautiful in Dyersville, Iowa. And it's a reason
why they're going back next year. Red Sox and Royals

(04:13):
will be playing in that game. Kerrie, I loved everything
about it. I want to get into the Hall of Famers.
I want to get into Roger Clemens. But just the
look of that field and how it's put off is
even better than what I could have imagined.

Speaker 8 (04:25):
Yeah, even for me. I mean I didn't get to
watch the game yesterday, but I did. I have seen
clips and seeing the ballpark and seeing how stunning stunning
it was. It was stunning. I think the I think
the only question I really have about it right now,
Dan is is the way you described it was so
picturesque and so beautiful and so perfect. You talked about
it right being at dusk and you know, and and

(04:47):
all the all the things that you added in your soliloquy.
Did it add up to Iowa Sam pictures from yesterday?
That's what I mean. That's a good question. Did it
rival the capturing of what I captured? I like the
different angles of it. Sam, Be honest, when you're when

(05:07):
you're watching, when you're watching the game and you have
been there and you're from Iowa, I mean, like you
just watched this leadoff home run from from schwarbur Like,
it's does it give you goosebumps?

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Does it give you the chicken skin?

Speaker 6 (05:23):
Like?

Speaker 3 (05:23):
How do you feel about that?

Speaker 5 (05:24):
I don't remember.

Speaker 7 (05:25):
I think that the twenty twenty two game was kind
of overcast too, But I feel like, you know, the
weather earlier in the day yesterday was a little crappy.
There was rain going through, but the weather participated, and
just to have sort of the puffy clouds and a
little bit of blue in the background to start the game,
and I mean it was just it made it even
more beautiful. So it was it was like my sister
who lives in Philadelphia, she was obviously watching.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
She grew up in Iowa, and she was like, it's
just looks stunning.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Oh wow. I don't like how they have those other
fields on the other part of the cornfield.

Speaker 9 (05:53):
Right kind of see it out, yeah, off in the distance.
That ruins some of a little bit, to be honest
with you, see if.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
And I also I hate diamonds like that because the
youth sports and everything has become such a money grabs
and just when I see that and I see them
kind of trying to creep in on the field of dreams, they.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
Want to capitalize on all this.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, yeah, it stinks. Now, when this whole idea was manufactured,
I think there was the thought of geez, could they
play on the diamond that is actually there? And that
is that's not realistic. You wouldn't and it would ruin
the movie aesthetics because you wouldn't be able to see
the farmhouse on the first place baseline, because you'd need
you would need you know stands there.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Is it even regulation like I mean, I don't think
it is.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
You can change it up and you could make it.
But what is great, especially about when a left handed
hitter hits a home run the right field is you
see the diamond and the farmhouse in the distance. And
I maybe I may be going too overboard for this,
And trust me, there were there were things to not
love about last night. But I may be waxing too poetically,

(06:57):
but I just love it. I embrace it. I love
how it's the one a year. I'm glad that it's
back after the hiatus and the coming back. Next year
we had the Twins playing here as the home team.
The Royals will be the home team next year. Previously
it was the first one who was Yankees White Sox.
Right then the Cubs and Cardinals play the next year.
I chose Cubs and Dues.

Speaker 6 (07:18):
The point being is.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Dyersville, Iowa is like an hour away from Wisconsin, so
the Brewers at some point have got to play in
this stinking game. If you're taking all the neighboring states
of Missouri or of Iowa like Missouri, like Illinois and
having these teams play, then the Brewers. I would hope
at some point would end up playing in this game,
maybe in twenty twenty eight. Even the old scoreboard, it's

(07:41):
not an old scoreboard, but it looks like it's an
old scoreboard in right field. It just fits in carry.
It is so well done, and in spots where like
the NBA is trying to garner interests with the NBA Cup.
They're playing at Hinklefield House this December, maybe trying to
lean in on some of what Major League based has
been able to capture here instead of doing it in

(08:02):
Las Vegas. I just I can't get enough of this.

Speaker 8 (08:05):
I'll tell you one negative. The guy that's inside that's
changing that number on the scoreboard. I hate the Manuel scoreboard.
Time to change it. Not all was great last night.
There were some cringeworthy events when the Hall of Famers
came through the corn. Jason Stewart, Isaac loh and Kron
lovers of history, What were your emotions. Let's start at
the news desk with Isaac when you saw the Hall

(08:26):
of Famers come out from the corn. Any emotions there.

Speaker 10 (08:30):
A couple of things. Speaking of emotions, I'm glad you
added of history after you just said Jason Stewart and
Isaac longcron lovers. Secondly, Carrie, how dare you?

Speaker 3 (08:42):
I think you guys would make a great couple.

Speaker 10 (08:44):
By the way, Jason seems offended anyway, Carrie, how how
dare you? After what we heard from Fernando Mendoza last night,
describe what Dan said earlier as a soliloquy. You know,
I hate to say it, but something like that, although

(09:04):
really well intentioned, it doesn't have it. It didn't have
the effect on me that I think it was intended for,
Maybe because I'm just a heartless you know what. However,
I these days, I get a lot more emotionally affected
by spontaneous things or things that i've or pre planned things,

(09:30):
the type of demonstrations that I haven't seen before.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Jason Stewart, you're nodding your head. Just makes you guys
a great couple exactly. That's the very thing that I
dislike about this entire thing. And Fox Fox very much
is guilty of this a while. We saw it at
the Major League Baseball All Star Game when they tried
to like do the kids on the bikes and do
the sandwot thing. It's like, there's you reach a point

(09:53):
where it's like this is just they're they're trying too
hard and they're the problem with this. And Carrie, you're
the You've been able to make the transition from an
athlete to an actor. You obviously have an acting knack.
Most athletes don't, and they don't want to be made
to perform or to do anything inorganic. True, everything seemed

(10:14):
last night that it was like spoon fed, please do this,
as opposed to just capturing what happens, it's we need
you to perform, and once you start doing that, you
lose me badly. I did not get the chicken skin,
and seeing the Hall of Famers, thought it was a
nice touch. I liked how some of them had their
correct uniforms. Really annoyed me that they couldn't get a

(10:35):
nineteen eighty two Brewers jersey for Paul Malader, that they
had to give him a current one because when Roley
Fingers came out, he was wearing the old A's jersey.
Harold Baines is wearing the old White Sox jersey. That
annoyed me. It annoyed me that those players were holding
their cell phones when they walked out. So there's Larry

(10:56):
Walker and Scott Roland and others with their cell phone
recording what they're seeing, like I understand, Like it's a
different But then all you all we are seeing when
you're walking through the corn is the stands. The view
is us seeing them appear from the corn. Yes, but
they needed it for their own cell phones to show
three other people because nobody else is going to see it.

Speaker 6 (11:18):
You are the subjects for people's cameras. You're not the
actual people that should be able to take cameras. And
I think to a point that you've made Dan like,
don't I just don't remember. Shoe was Joe and his
teammates bringing out the cell phones in the movie that
was made in nineteen eighty eight.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
It was cuts. I just didn't make the make the
final edit. The worst part was the manufactured Roger Clemens
Cody Clemens. Oh my god, did you see this? That
Roger Clemens and Cody Clemens went on the original diamond.
But again, this was all predetermined with cameras around. The

(12:00):
great thing about the Field of Dreams movie and the
catch at the end is it's just those two. Yeah,
all of the players have gone. No one else is
around here. Everyone was around people were on the field.
They didn't do it from home plate to the catcher's mound.

(12:22):
They just kind of did it from home plates to
first base and it was all, you know, preconceived. Everything
was set up. Roger Clemens said the lines, and then
they only threw the ball about five or six times
and then it was over. So to me, that viral
moment where bots online are saying that they they were

(12:44):
brought to tears or had goosebumps, to me, I don't
believe that because it's so so fake. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (12:50):
See for me, I am, and Jason brought up a
point where I am in production, right, I am. I
do live that life, and so trying to recreate moments
for people now it's hard anyway. You're not going to
please everybody, and everybody's going to have their take about it,
so you try to nail it to the best that
you can do.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
You think this is all of you guys.

Speaker 8 (13:09):
Do you guys think they nailed it the best they
could with it being a production? Because it because it
is a production, Go ahead, Sam, I'm well.

Speaker 7 (13:17):
I wanted to ask you guys about that. The controversy
of what did what was the event that Netflix did
for Major League, was the altar, was the All Star Game?
Home runner, home run derby the size of the score?
Bug did that bother you guys at all? Because you
know last night, No, no.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
No, that didn't Yeah that that that didn't bother me.
I loved all of it, like I was most of it.
I should say I didn't hate the Hall of Famers
coming out. I just didn't think it was necessary. I
didn't think that it was something that caught the fans
off guard, Like the fans are there to see this
crazy game and the score, you know, in a cornfield right,

(13:52):
not to all of a sudden see thirty Hall of
Famers walk out of it. We knew somebody was going
to walk out of it. Yeah, you're like, oh, okay,
it's it's some living Hall of Famers. Because it wasn't everyone.
You couldn't do it one by one, and I don't
know who you would choose exactly, you know, otherwise you'd
be there all day. But I think by and large,
I absolutely love the event. I just hated the fake

(14:14):
stuff of the like the Roger Clemens catch with his son.
It just isn't isn't natural, And people in the background
with their with their cell phones and Roger Clemens is
in a uniform like he's in a Red Sox uniform.

Speaker 6 (14:28):
I just think that there's there's so many things wrong
with this for me. Yeah, and I know I'm in
the minority. Dan, you mentioned the reaction on Twitter. Twitter
is the most negative cesspool ever and it was almost
ninety nine percent positive for this viral video. Right. I
was shocked that there's not enough cynicism. Roger Clemens was
ostracized from the game. Roger Clemens is not a Hall

(14:51):
of Famer because he never admitted to doing the things
that he did.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
He is.

Speaker 6 (14:57):
Netflix, I think is out to piss me off because
they You've put Barry Bonds on their broadcasts without ever
having him answer the question, Hey, Barry, how come you're
not in the Hall of Fame. And then when he says,
because people think I did steroids, Well, Barry, did you
so you didn't do steroids? Because no one's ever asked
you that question and you've never answered that question. Same
with Roger Clemens. Netflix makes him a subject in this

(15:21):
heartfelt thing, right without like thinking like why has Roger
Clemmens not been around? And as I guess as a
production why can't we create a spot where we ask him, Isaac,
why did you love that gay? Jumping out of your
skin trying to talk about this?

Speaker 10 (15:41):
Well, no, along those lines, I think it would have
been It would have resonated stronger with me and I
think baseball fans in general. And I don't know if
this was logistically possible or even considered. How about instead
of the Clemens father son duo, you had Ken Griffy
Senior and Ken Griffy Junior last night. I would have
liked that more, even a Cecil fielder and a Prince fielder.

(16:05):
Perhaps I'm just saying.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Okay, well yeah, and like the like the father's son
transition in Major League Baseball, I don't want to say
is fairly common, but there seems to be a lot
more of it, maybe because of more players and than
you would have in in you know. I mean, we
know that Lebron and Bronni are playing, and we've seen
father son duo's play in the NBA. That's happened before,
but I feel like we've had generations after generations play

(16:30):
in Major League bass.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
Next week will be our next year will be an
unnatural for Bobby Whitt and his his death Tommy Wall.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
And to me, it was Roger Clemens in a way,
trying to cash in to help his persona in this element.
I mean, he was wearing a Red Sox captain again,
it was supposed to be a throwback uniform. But if
he would have been wearing his normal Red Sox uniform,
then I would actually have been taken more of it, like, oh, okay,
there is wearing his but it was a it was

(16:58):
a different uniform, and so to me it was even
just like, well, this is really really contrived. How many
people you think turned that down? I don't think any,
because I think it was probably their idea. Think it
was just their idea. Yeah, I think it was their
idea to make this, Oh, let's make this a moment,
because Cody Clemens is playing for the Twins, so I'm
not just off the top of my head, I can't

(17:19):
think of any other father son of those two teams playing,
but I'm sure it. It was just weird because people
also walking in the background. If they would have filmed
it the night before right and like presented it like
a special moment, like that's cool, that's fine. But I
think them trying to go viral with it in this
moment and him saying the lines, I don't know, maybe

(17:40):
I'm wrong, maybe it's it's too much, but it was
one of the just one of the few off things
to Sam, if you're one of those the one like
one or two of the things that I didn't love
from last night on a night that I actually really enjoyed.

Speaker 8 (17:51):
Yeah, I'm a sucker for nostalgia, guys. That's what you
guys know. So I probably would have been crying as well.
It was that was that that was the exception to
the rule for hung great. Did you have more questions?

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Sam?

Speaker 7 (18:03):
I had a question for you guys. I'm fine with
it being it being every year, but it sort of
felt like the build up. I mean I actually kind
of forgot about it, but it was on hiatus for
a few years, kind of like how the World Cup
leaves you, you know, hungry for more, you know you.

Speaker 5 (18:17):
Have to wait.

Speaker 7 (18:18):
Maybe they do it every two years. I mean, I'm
fine with it every one game once a year, I'd
be absolutely happy with. But I definitely felt like there
was a layoff and you could notice that you would
notice that it would you'd notice that it was back
in a way and it kind of made you feel like, oh,
this is we've missed this feeling.

Speaker 9 (18:33):
But I think every year is good. I'm fine with
it every year. Every year, Yes, that's.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
I was doing something else.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
I'm fine with it every year. I didn't think that.
I didn't think that last night was better because we
hadn't had it. I think last night was great because
of how good it looked. And if you have something
to look forward to every mid August, sure, sure you know,
then that's a tradition that you could continue.

Speaker 6 (18:59):
Fox dial Back the Cheesy, Like could they well this
was Netflix, remember, so I'm sorry, couldn't Netflix dial Back
the Cheese? I mean, can you do it every year
and still do the same bits coming out of the cornfield?
Can I have a catch? Could you hit these benchmarks
every year?

Speaker 3 (19:16):
I don't think you need to have Hall of famers
walking out. I think like when Schwarber hit the home run,
and if you haven't seen it, just go search. Look
at how cool that shot is. Look at the vault
flying into the cornfield, like that's that's awesome. They're not
playing there tonight. Tonight they're gonna go play back in
Minneapolis the target field. They'll continue their series there. So

(19:36):
it's a one off sort of deal. And there's when
the NFL has been looking to expand to maybe eighteen
games and trying to think of different stuff, and when
even when they had spanned in the seventeen games, it
made an uneven schedule for home and away games, right,
And one of the things somebody said was how about
going to play at a college stadium for like the
seventeenth game? And it's an awful idea. Teams have that,

(19:59):
Like the Saints had to that when they had to
relocate from Katrina. They had to play in Baton Rouge,
you know, at the at LSU Stadium. There was some
talk that Jacksonville was maybe going to play some games
in the swamp in Gainesville. Those games don't draw because
it's just it's not the same. People aren't like, oh
I gotta go see you know, Saints Buccaneers at you know,

(20:20):
in Baton Rouge. It's it's not the same. Those things
don't work. This does. This is also not allowing you
to have forty thousand people. How many people are there
two thousands, seven thousand, seven thousand there? It was seven
thousand men. I would have thought fewer from what it
looked like. It looks small. Yeah, it looks very very small.
So seven thousand like it. Just it works. It works

(20:41):
for me, so I'm totally down with it.

Guys, do you remember the actor mister t from eighteen Fans?

Speaker 3 (21:10):
Yes, of course, we'll see him around here. He lives
around here in the neighborhood.

Speaker 10 (21:13):
Oh wow, Well today he was at Wrigley Field. He
sang the seventh inning stretch. Listen, boys, one, two, three,
stracks You out at the home.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
All right, let's go cups.

Speaker 6 (21:34):
I pity the.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Food dad, and carry back to you all magnificent. We
used to have in the building that we're at there
were two banks on the ground floor. Used to bank
in one of them, so every time and again we'd
see him coming in and out of one of the banks.
Did you pity the bank? I you did not pity
the bank. I did not. I think mister T's probably

(21:58):
got a lot of green to take care of. Great
to hear me, and I like how he played into
it because it's what everybody wanted to hear. Sure, what
you want to hear is the feud. Let's get it together.
The Fox family made up of carry Roads, Isaac Longcron,
Jason Stewart and Iowa Sam Top nine answers on the board.
I'm sorry, I'm just in the Iowa sort of mood.
Even though they knocked out Wisconsin in the Little League.

(22:20):
We had the field the Dreams game. Top nine corn
producing states in the United States. That's what I want you, guys.
You have three strikes, carry Rhoads. You get this thing.
I get to go first. Huh, get this get going?

Speaker 4 (22:33):
Guess in Alaska's not one.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
We're going to go to Nebraska on the board. So
Nebraska taking Nebraska? Show me? Nebraska third on this list
according to Crop Profit These are the numbers up to
twenty twenty four. This is the latest that I could cry.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
Did you get this from a Fernando Mendoza answer?

Speaker 3 (22:54):
By the way, one point eight billion bushels of corn
is what Nebraska produces a year. Third on our list.
Isaac lowin Crowton. You're second.

Speaker 6 (23:04):
Why are you coming to me?

Speaker 4 (23:06):
Am I allowed to guess Iowa?

Speaker 3 (23:07):
Yes you are, good answer, Show me Iowa, Iowa number
one on our last Yes, good answer. Two point six
billion bushels of corn produced a year. Over to Jason Stewart.

Speaker 6 (23:22):
I'm gonna flip a coin between these two neighboring states
and say Kansas, Kansas.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
Show me Kansas seven and forty eight million bushels of
corn produced a year, best for seventh in the US.
Over to Iowa.

Speaker 5 (23:40):
Sam, I'm gonna go with Illinois.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
Illina. There's not a lot in Illinois. You ever Have
you ever driven through Illinois? Course, there's nothing there except Chicago,
that is it? Show me Illinois. Oh, there's corn there.
Two point three billion bushels. Second on our list to Iowa.

Speaker 4 (23:59):
Four for four.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
Back around to carry roads, looking for the top nine
corn producing states in the United States.

Speaker 8 (24:08):
Yeah, that was the only one I knew was Nebraska.

Speaker 6 (24:10):
Guy.

Speaker 8 (24:11):
So just so you guys know exactly where this next
answer is going, I'm.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Gonna say I will say Montana, Montana a lot of space. Yeah,
it makes a lot of sense, is it Montana? No? No,
it is not probably because all those Californians moved up
there and Mount Rips up with all the cornfields for

(24:38):
theirs and all their fun that they're having up there.
All right, Isaac long crown over to you. One strike
on the board.

Speaker 10 (24:45):
Hopefully this answer will not make the feud. Go South Dakota,
South Dakota.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
Show me South Dakota. Yeah, six on the list. Is
that gonna be your answer? Sam?

Speaker 7 (24:58):
If it came back around to I thought had South
Dakota in there in the brain rolling around.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
All right over to Jason Stewart.

Speaker 6 (25:05):
Now for those listening very closely, this does not include Kerry.
I said I was gonna flip a coin between these
two neighboring states last time, and I was it was
kind of a code for you. You were I picked
at Kansas. Yeah, I'm going to pick the state where
Kansas City is, dan Ah.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
You're gonna pick show Missouri. Well, the great thing about
it is, uh, were you saying neighboring to Iowa, Kansas? Kansas? Yeah? Okay,
all right, so you're saying Missouri is your answer? Show
me Missouri? Yes, they show me state, right, show me state.
I thought you were saying two neighboring states to Iowa

(25:45):
like they neighbored Iowa. Right, Kansas doesn't neighbor Iowa. It doesn't,
it does not, but it was on our list. Missouri,
that is correct. Missouri and Iowa do share border. That
is correct. There for fireworks over to Iowa, SAand they're
just three answers left. Looking for the top nine corn
producing states. I'm gonna get all the exits according I

(26:07):
think the numbers will match out. That will You've got
one more time at least, so it won't fall all
on your shoulders Iowa, Sam.

Speaker 7 (26:14):
I'm going to think of a couple of states that
are north of Iowa, but their southern portion of the
state produces corn.

Speaker 5 (26:20):
I'm gonna say.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
Minnesota, Minnesota. Show me Minnesota number four on the list,
one point three billion bushels of corn a year again
according to Crop Profits Crop Profit. That's where I get
all my information from. All right, time to reset. Two
answers left, Kerry, we got one strike on the board.

(26:41):
We've got seven of the states revealed, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota,
South Dakota, Kansas, and Missouri. Who are we leaving out
of the top nine corn producing states in the US.
You got a guess, hmmm, looking for two more answers,

(27:04):
more answers here. Let me think I think the thought
process of Montana was smart because it's just enormous, but
just not enough, not enough there.

Speaker 4 (27:13):
Let me let me try another one out that way.

Speaker 8 (27:16):
Then everybody else is going a little east coast, that
central east coast vibe.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
I can't help carry out at all.

Speaker 8 (27:21):
With the easiest Let's just say, let's say Wyoming, Wyoming?

Speaker 3 (27:28):
All right? Is it Wyoming? I wasn't disgusted, it was disappointment.

Speaker 8 (27:39):
All I'm doing this thing about space saying that's all
I got anything about soil and glaciers and richness of
the prairie and going into the All right, now, the
here's the deal.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
So there's two strikes, next strike and the Fox family loses.
They do not win today. Uh, Isaac, do you have
an and Isaac?

Speaker 4 (28:02):
All right, let's see if this will work.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
Google me.

Speaker 4 (28:07):
So who am I talking about?

Speaker 3 (28:10):
We're talking about Kurt Signetti and Indiana? Show me Indiana. There,
there are number five on the list, just shy of
a billion, nine and ninety nine bushels of porn a year. Again,
according to crop profit that leaves one answer left, and
that leaves it all on the shoulders of Jason Stewart.

Speaker 6 (28:31):
So just so I either lose it or I win it.
Here you are in.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
This is awesome. You are in the spot.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
This one's for all the kernels.

Speaker 6 (28:40):
Okay, here we go, you guys ready, Yes, sir, let's
do it. I'm gonna go with the uh I was
gonna go, you know, I was thinking California only because
a lot of things are going in California, but I
don't know if corn is I'll go with Ohio for
my final answer.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
Ohio. Okay? Did you guys have different answers with you guys?
Not that you're gonna change it, but Jason wants Ohio.
But when we reveal it, the game is going to
end either one way, win or lose. Would you guys
have said Ohio? Would you set a different state?

Speaker 5 (29:08):
I would have said Ohio or Wisconsin?

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Okay, well carry out Hawaii. No, I'm kidding, Isaac. Would
you have guessed Ohio as the other?

Speaker 4 (29:21):
I was actually thinking of Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Okay? For the win, show me Ohio. No Jays, No guys,
number nine, number nine on our list. Good job guys,
one and sixty six million.

Speaker 6 (29:39):
What was number ten?

Speaker 3 (29:41):
North Dakota five and forty two. Wisconsin was eleventh, not
making it five hundred and fifteen. It only gave the
top eleven. But that's what we've got.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Is it me? Or did we do better at this
game than we typically do?

Speaker 3 (29:56):
Want sports editions and family for you, oh Man, great stuff,
great stuff, Way to come through in the clutch. Way
to go, Jay, Jason Stewart, Way to go, guys. You're
welcome you guys, overcame my.

Speaker 6 (30:11):
Blunder.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
I don't look at it that way. I look at
it as you've provided the drama. You provided the drama.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
So am I going to start Fast Money? Or am
I going to anchor it?

Speaker 3 (30:22):
Yeah? Which two? Who are you picking to go to
Fast Money? Of you two? That's gonna be of you four?
That would be the question. I would be no good
in Fast Money. He is carry out. I'm Dan Byer.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
Yes, all right, the K with Cody. That's right, Jacks.
You think is clever because of the straight should have
used the backwards K for the no look strikeout. He's
carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. That's Jason Stewart Iowa. Sam

his jersey number retired, right You knew that, did you.

Speaker 8 (32:14):
It's not retire yet.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
Oh no, it is. It is with the Boston Celtics.
With the Boston Celtics, it is retired. Carrie's a hoophead.
I know those that follow basketball know the undercurrent of
the relationship of the previous Timberwolves ownership and Kevin Garnett.
It wasn't great following Garnett's playing days and there was

(32:40):
there was some tension there. So the Minnesota Timberwolves, now
under new ownership that includes Alex Rodriguez, will be retiring
Kevin Garnett's number twenty one jersey at a game in
February against the Boston Celtics. We'll do it after the
game against the the that he went to it's first

(33:03):
of all, I find it ridiculous that the Celtics retired
Kevin Garnett's number five. I just it's it's two in
the moment, But I get they want to be that
team that retires everyone's number. That's why you have number
twenty eight's on the court because they've retired so many
numbers in Boston. I think it's a shame that they

(33:25):
were able to retire it retire Kevin Garnett's number before
Minnesota was able to. But the Timberwolves now are doing
right by doing so. The only other number that they've
retired was the late Malik Sealy, whose life was cut
short in a car accident. Yep, there's this is just
long overdue carry roads for the Minnesota Timberwolves to do right.

(33:49):
But honestly, when we were talking about this pre show,
when you're talking about the Timberwolves as an organization, like
aside from Anthony Edwards, and I know Kevin Love was
there and Karl Anthony Towns was the number one overall pick,
but that team was only Kevin Garnett for so long
because of just the ineptitude of the franchise when they

(34:10):
first came into the league, and then for how great
and how much he stood out, they should have had
Garnet jerseys just because it's close to Garnett, for how
much he meant to the organization. But it's just surprising
that now it's finally come to this that Kevin Garnett
is going to have his jersey retired by the Timberwolves.

Speaker 8 (34:28):
Yeah, it's a long overdue. Don't forget guys about that
Kevin Garnet, Stefan Marbury era. I mean Stefan was a
key cog there as well early on, left early obviously,
but nothing. I mean, Kevin Garnet's jersey should have definitely
been retired a long time ago. And we talked about
I mean what's been in the news the last couple
of days, right, Jaydon Daniels in the retirement thing and

(34:48):
having your jersey retired early and people speaking up about it.
Where and Kevin Garnett, you talk about a guy like that,
if he was to speak up about it, I think
we would be all on board with that. Jersey should
have been retired long time ago.

Speaker 3 (35:00):
Right, So.

Speaker 8 (35:02):
I want to give the Minnesota Timberwolves organization. I'm sure
a roy had a lot to do with this as well.
Give them credit for doing the right thing. Kevin Garnett's
the only guy you're going to think about when it
comes to Minnesota in the long run. Now Anthony Edwards,
but this is long overdue.

Speaker 6 (35:17):
Jason Stewarts, our executive producer Carrie mentioned Stefan Marbury well done,
because I had to Google list the greatest Timberwolves in
the history of the fantast and Marbury is on that list.
Not current players here Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, and Wally
zurbiaka the other name.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
Marbury wasn't even on the team when they made it
to the four Western Conference finals, but they were popular.
That's really when the turn and they became a team.
But I just I cannot overstate how much Kevin Garnett
was the Timberwolves for sure, Like I honestly think they
should make the Timberwolf somehow represent in look like having

(36:00):
Garnett because that's how much he meant to that team
and that organization. It's unfortunate that they had the rough
patch of him and Glenn Taylor and that it took
this long to do so. But it's also a commentary
to me on the Boston Celtics just want to everything. Yes,

(36:21):
I get mad because I don't think that the Colts.
I think the Colts get the same amount of run
as the Broncos do in having Peyton Manning as their quarterback,
and it shouldn't be like the Colts should have a
majority of it. But for some reason, like post retirement,
the Broncos have like now come in as like Peyton
Manning's other wife. Doesn't he stay there now? He lives there? Yes,

(36:43):
And it's very weird because the Colts, Hello, we were here,
you had a neck injury, we had the first overall,
we had to do what we had to do. But
it feels like the Celtics like with the same white.
Plus it wasn't like Garnett ended his career in Boston.
He went to Brooklyn. He ended up going back to
Minnesota at one point. But yeah, they get a lot
of mile you know, a lot of mileage does Boston.

(37:05):
And I don't necessarily think that they deserve it with
all of the players.

Speaker 8 (37:08):
It's crazy because Kevin Garnett years there, I don't even
think it was he was even an All Star in
those years.

Speaker 3 (37:12):
Maybe one maybe one man. I don't know all that matters, right,
doesn't it so? But when you look up into the
into the rafters in Boston, there's three sheets of just
retired numbers, and it's out of control. There will be
another retired number in late February. That will be Kevin
Garnett's at Target Center. Kerrie, we'll talk to you on Sunday.
