Speaker 3 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
All right? The sps are tonight, and so that I say,
who cares hit her up at Manzi Blanos. You can
find me at the Embayer on Fox. I hate the
SPS today. I think, so, okay, what's.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Up it is tonight? Yeah, no, I'm not watching that.
I have nothing to do, but I'm not watching that.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
It seemed like a really good idea first and then
they're giving an award for best golfer.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
I don't care.
Speaker 5 (00:52):
Who, who, doesn't matter, it's relevant. I feel like this
would have been better if it wasn't every year.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, I'm just like, I think it would be better
if it didn't happen.
Speaker 5 (01:04):
It didn't happen at all but the first because I
agree like the first time it happened, I was like, okay, yeeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Let me tune into this. Oh it's not not cute.
But now I'm like, this is still going on.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Best Golfer of the Year is down the three candidates.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Rory McElroy yes, Scottie Shaffler.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yes, come on, you know this, I do? Yeah, the
third one.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
I should know.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
This, Yes, you should from last month? Last month?
Speaker 3 (01:31):
I know.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Okay, I did yesterday. Oh that's gonna be upsetting me
when you tell.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
Me Nellie Korda, Nelly Corda, Well, that was a trick question.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
No it wasn't. That's the whole point of the ridiculousness
of this. So that's the other reason that like that,
like that category is happening. Like I don't know if
they give on for best basketball player, but I'm sure
it's well right, like it would be Asia Wilson. But
even like in the golf thing, like what about if
you burn on the longer head dominated the Champions Tour
(02:02):
for so long? If he wins nine times on the
Champions Tour, right, yeah, is he better than Rory mclarroyer, No,
he's not. He's no, he's not. So these guys are
judged by how they fare in the tournaments, not on
what happens in downtown Los Angeles in the middle of July. Like,
I'm sure Nelly Corter is probably gonna win. I don't know,
(02:26):
Actually I don't even know. Scotty Scheffler, you know, had
the had the resume last year. Maybe he's gonna win.
But Nelly Corter this year winning the first two majors
of the year. Kel she had the odds on Scotty Scheffler.
The point is, it's just silly to talk.
Speaker 5 (02:40):
About absolutely whoever. The person who wins is the person
who wants who's going to be present? Which one of
you three can actually show up?
Speaker 4 (02:46):
You can be here?
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Yeah, So Scheffler and Rory are playing at the Open Championship,
maybe Nelly Corda can make it. Yeah, and there you
go and they'll play. It's the only thing I think
is maybe sillier than the SB is people who put
The Sandlot in their top five of movies, because I
ended up watching it last night. Monty Belanos, when it
(03:07):
comes to baseball movies, this on the heels of Jason
Stewart's top five baseball movies of all time, and he
heard a lot of Sandlot references, and then we watched
that fourth Fifth Inning Spectacular where they tried to mimic
The Sandlot, and I said to myself, like, you, I'm
not a movie person. I had never seen The Sandlot,
(03:29):
and I'm like, I'm gonna watch it. So I went
onto Amazon Prime because I don't have the other streaming
services that actually have it, and I purchased it for
two ninety nine last night, and I watched it, and
I thought that there were some parts that were good
in moving, but by and large, I was not moved.
(03:49):
I didn't even understand the ending. I didn't know if
the guy owned the Dodgers. I didn't know if Small's
was a broadcaster for the Dodgers. I didn't know if
he was riding for the La Times. I didn't understand it.
Speaker 6 (04:04):
Do no matter.
Speaker 5 (04:04):
He was just covering the team down, was he he's there,
he's walking into the Vinccali breats box.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Well, he was in a radio booth and he didn't
have a headset on, and he wasn't broadcasting. He didn't
throw it to commercial break. He was high fiving the engineers,
he was thumbs upping, he had all of his knickknacks.
It just did not hit home. There were some neat
parts to it. I will give you that the beginning
of the movie when the kid doesn't know how to
throw or catch. I you know, I felt bad for
(04:34):
Smalls at that point. Honestly, I felt some of the
kids were annoying. Yeah they were, yeah, they were then yeah, ever,
but I don't know how you could take that and
put that in a top five. So I am with
Jason Stewart on his rankings that yeaties.
Speaker 7 (04:56):
Can can we be clear on this for a new
listeners that or just catching this? Over the weekend, I
put out a tweet with my personal top five movies
and I did an AI graphic and it looks really
nice and Sandlot is not in my top five. In fact,
it's not even in my top ten. And my top
five are Bullderm of the Top, major League, second Field
(05:19):
of Dreams, then The Natural, then Moneyball, and people were like, dude,
how could you not put Sandlot in? Sandwat's the greatest?
That was my most common reaction, so so much so
that I was compelled by my girlfriend to watch it
again to maybe maybe reassess my rankings. And it's still
(05:40):
out of the top ten. So Dan and I have
seen this movie collectively twice in the last four or
five days.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
And I saw most of it because there are parts
I fast forwarded because and this was a problem with
Sam was I and I don't think that I'm I'm
doing any harm by giving away from this movie. That's
how many years old.
Speaker 8 (06:02):
Nineteen ninety three. It's it's an hour and forty two
minutes and you have fast forward ninety.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
I was watching it at one am. I know, I
was trying to get this. It's like a show, it's
like a comedy length and you fast forward. I was
so confused and why people were crying at that piece
during the All Star Game that I said, there was
something in the sandlot that I'm missing. I need to
see the sandlot to understand why people were moved to
tears when the kids rode on their bikes onto the field.
(06:29):
That's that's what drew me to the Sandlot. And I
watched the movie. I understood the premise. I knew ultimately
there would be some way they would get the baseball back.
The part that I fast forwarded to with a fast
forwarded past were the variety of ways that they were
(06:49):
trying to capture the ball from the backyard.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
That's one of the I know, that's some of the
funnest parts of that movie.
Speaker 8 (06:55):
I think, like children and their toys and how they
can use as gadgets and booby traps and gizmo's. Like
I guess you watching it as an adult, it doesn't translate.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
I guess nervous when he wasn't he was. He jumps
over to get the ball. The vacuum clean like the
dogs cut out.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
And the dog is chasing him throughout the entire party
and then back.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
So good.
Speaker 8 (07:17):
What I'm wearing today, PF Flyers, Dan, I'm wearing my
PF Flyers.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Is that what the kid wears?
Speaker 6 (07:23):
He make you run faster and jump higher?
Speaker 2 (07:25):
PF Flyers. It just did not hit home, and I
did not understand there were there again, there were parts
that that moved when when the kid couldn't catch and throw.
As I said, I felt bad when he ran the
ball the second base because he couldn't throw. It felt
bad for the kid, the new kid in town wearing
the cap with the long brim which he was wearing
a FA or something. Yes, yes, like I I feel
(07:49):
like I want the kid to fit in and I
love the portion of the kid including him. So there
were parts of it that I liked it just I
don't know. I don't know if it was because I
knew that somehow they would get the ball back or
there would be some sort of ending. Knew that the
kid jumps over the fence, but I didn't know how
it all played out. But it just it didn't hit
(08:11):
home and it The thing that really surprised me was
that they actually make T shirts that say like you're
killing me Smalls. Where I didn't think like that line
was that iconic in the movie, but some people must
love this movie so much that someone felt, yeah, we
could make T shirts with that drop and people will
(08:32):
wear them, Like I just.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
That's the biggest I think that's the biggest line out
of the movie.
Speaker 8 (08:36):
People love Hamporter as the catcher, the kid, you know,
where he's like this, Benny, this pop ain't working.
Speaker 6 (08:42):
I'm baking like a toasted cheeseer out here. It's so hot.
That's one of my favorite lines of the movie.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yeah, and they go to the shirt I know, but yeah,
you're killing me Smalls. It's because he's like he doesn't
know anything about baseball.
Speaker 7 (08:54):
No.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
When they were making the s'mores that that's when he
says it, Oh okay, yeah, yeah, right right yeah. But
I didn't think like that. I mean, we can recite
ten lines from Major League that of whether it be
Willie May's Hayes, the Harry Doyle line, Harry Doyle around
all of those, but like that line, I was like, Wow,
(09:15):
this is I thought there was gonna be this iconic
moment in the movie where he yells, like where everybody's
dying laughing, or if there's like a goosebump moment, and
it just never happened.
Speaker 9 (09:26):
It was It was kind of in passing. You're right.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
I feel like that's what's so great about The Sandlot.
It's not supposed to be this crazy movie. It is
a very simple movie about kids growing up playing baseball
and just going through life. But there's not It's supposed
to be simple, and I feel like that's why I
like it so much. They're out of school, they're not
trying to like with everything else, I feel like you're
trying to impress me, and I like that it's simple.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
I don't. It didn't make me cry. It never made
me cry. It didn't give me the.
Speaker 5 (09:57):
Feels like that. I just always I just I like
the simplicity of the movie that there's nothing this is
about kids growing up playing baseball.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
I like that. I like that to be honest.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
Like your list, Jason, I mentioned, I've never seen well,
I don't think I'm going to Major League seeing it
barely remember it, Field of Dreams, seeing it barely remember.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
It, never seen the natural, I don't think so, Oh boy, Moneyball,
I don't want to watch it again. I don't care
to watch it again.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
I don't know how you could get moved by And
you said you didn't cry. I didn't cry, like the
Field of Dreams. Like, there's a bunch of moments in
that movie that I think are are drawn to bring
out the emotion, and people have different spots in that movie.
There was there was some nostalgia with the kids. But
(10:41):
I'm like, they're they're not I told Sam Ago, they're
not even playing games. They played that one against the
team with all the uniforms of the fancy, but they're
playing like they're just playing, you know, yeah, in.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
The backyard like themselves.
Speaker 8 (10:55):
Baseball essentially in a dusty old lot, the sandlot. You know, yeah,
they don't having gain, they don't they just play.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
With a you know field with unrealistic you play four
on four, right, I mean like you would I had.
I had a best friend growing up, he had a
little brother. My cousin lived across the street. We would
play two on two with a ball. That's what we
would play. One would pitch, one would be in the field,
the other two one would be on base and in hitting.
And that's what we would play, just to take infield
(11:23):
every day, to be able to turn two with what
no runner except when they they did have a batter
at one point and that's why the ball went over
the fence.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
That's them trying to If you had the players, you
would want to practice those moves.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
No, I was gonna hit a home run.
Speaker 5 (11:39):
I mean maybe, but I didn't feel I didn't feel
like it was that removed from it, Like I don't.
Angels in the Outfield was more effective for me than
some of these movies.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
Yeah, Angels in the Outfield to me is one of those.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
That's like when I watched that, that one affected me.
Speaker 7 (11:53):
That's another one I think that was made around the
same time. Yeah, and a Night everything that even Sam
are saying, I totally understand where you're coming from. And
I have movies of that myself, movies that I kind
of grew up and I've memorized and it brings me
back to when I was ten or twelve or whatever.
To me, Sandlot is that movie. I was in college
(12:14):
when it came out, so I don't really have that
that nostalgic thing with the movie. And then it's really
easy to pick a part as an adult. It's like
like me and Dan are being very critical of a
kid's movie because we saw it as adults, and I
put Elf in the same category. My son's favorite Christmas
movie is Elf. My son's generation loved Elf. I think
(12:35):
it's ridiculous and it's hard to watch every Christmas and
I only watch it because my son loves it. But
people love Elf, And right now listeners are thinking, how
do you not love Elf? How do you not love
the sand Wat I don't.
Speaker 9 (12:47):
I'm that guy.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
I like the Rookie of the Year. All of a sudden, Yeah,
what's the one where the kid manages the twins major
League or something?
Speaker 6 (12:59):
No, no, it was it.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
That's your second favorite movie, Jason?
Speaker 6 (13:06):
Yeah, he made he managed just a little big league.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Okay, that'll do. That's actually what I thought it was
and I didn't want to say it because I thought
it was stupid. But that's that's pretty good. Like he's
in the clubhouse, little big League and Rookie of the Year.
I kind of kind of always kind of conflate those two. Yeah,
And like Angels in the Outfield a movie kind of.
Speaker 8 (13:24):
About baseball and magic and about like you know, family
and stuff, and like the Sandlot has sort of the
magic to me of Field of Dreams, maybe more nostalgia.
It's so sick place what in like the early sixties somewhere.
I think it was shot in Utah, but I think
the movie is supposed to take place somewhere in like
central California or southern California.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
I'll tell you what, Having a twelve year old kid
managed the All Star Game would make it more interesting
than it was last night. I think that would great.
Or having a twelve year old pitch that would be awesome.
Maybe we should incorporate that into the All Star Game
instead of what happened with the sandblot and the bike.
Speaker 7 (13:56):
Yeah, what about if dogs chased Major leaguers last night,
like big dogs? That would make it a look bit.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
What's the other portion of it is as I'm watching
and I'm like, there's no way this dog dies, Like
people can't love this movie.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Hercules Hercules, yes.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
And so then he wakes, you know, wakes up and
starts looking the kid's face, and.
Speaker 6 (14:16):
He's just a big, cuddly beast.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
But I also then knew what happened, Like I knew
like when the dog went, I knew exactly what happened.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
That he was going to just drop the ball. Didn't
he just drop the ball out of.
Speaker 6 (14:25):
His Yeah, he goes and digs it up, right, he
finds all the ball.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
Yeah, there's like going on the.
Speaker 8 (14:30):
Thirty baseball And you love the part where he goes
and talks to James Earl Jones and he's got He's like, here,
here's a ball that's signed by like the whole entire
nineteen twenty seven Yankees.
Speaker 6 (14:40):
It's just I love it. I love it.
Speaker 7 (14:43):
The James Earl Jones part of the movie was so
out of like you have this like kid adventure movie,
this ridiculous third act that entails a beast running after
a player for far too long. And then the James
Earl Jones part is like shoved in at the end
is like to me, it just watching it bout again
as an adult, like you know with critical eyes that
(15:03):
that was a critical It was a nice scene. It
just went weird given the movie.
Speaker 5 (15:08):
I don't think it was shoved in at the end.
I actually don't think that at all.
Speaker 6 (15:12):
I think it's a really good plot.
Speaker 5 (15:14):
Yeah, I love that at the end that that's who,
that's who is the owner of Beast and Arciles like.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Come on the line in England has just scored against Argentina.
Gordon puts one in the back of the net on
a fast break, so England is up one nil on
Argentina in the fifty sixth minute. David Beckett is loving it.
Speaker 5 (15:34):
But but I don't know who Victoria Beckham was hugging.
Speaker 6 (15:36):
It wasn't him, No, was their son?
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Was that.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
It's not him?
Speaker 2 (15:42):
Yes, and they are on side. There is there will
be no offside review. So England has put one in
the back of the net, one nil.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
Over Argentina, and he perfectly.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
By the way, I completely side note I told Jason's
story at the beginning of the World Cup. I think
I want to place a bet on England to win it.
So it's not a shock that they're in the semi final,
they're top top four, they should get here. But I
never I did not put it. I did not put
my money where my mouth was.
Speaker 5 (16:16):
You should have done it twenty seven days ago when
you started watching soccer. You're right, well, were you thinking
go with your gun?
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Back to the sandlot? The James Earl Jones part. The
whole part of then him saying well, you should have
knocked on my door. I would have gotten it for you,
like that that rat like and then like ah to
the annoying kid, you know, one of the annoying kids.
Speaker 8 (16:37):
But like, that's the whole funny because they went to
so much trouble to get the ball back without bothering
anymore and just trying to retrieve it. He's had to
knocked on my door. What about this part though, when
Benny has the dream and he's visited by Babe Ruth.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
I have a small clip of it, this part that
guy whoever was plays Babe Ruth in a lot of things.
Speaker 6 (16:54):
Oh out here we go.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Remember, there's heroes and there's legends. Heroes get remembered, the
legends never die.
Speaker 6 (17:02):
That part gave me the shivers as a kid.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
I have it a little bit too.
Speaker 8 (17:06):
Yeah, she's like, I got I gotta do this. He's
not gonna sacrifice himself to get the ball back. He's
gonna face the beast.
Speaker 9 (17:14):
It's a movie.
Speaker 8 (17:15):
It's a movie about summer because they go to the remember,
they go to the fair, they go to the pool,
they go play the yuppie kids. It's like Baseball's it's
it's a movie about baseball, and it's more in the orbit.
Speaker 6 (17:24):
It's always there. It's always there.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
They always go back to baseball, is what is.
Speaker 6 (17:29):
Yeah, it's like the central story on the stage.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
Yeah, of course it is.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
Just whoever said to me in the comments or to
us the sandlot is not a baseball movie. I was like,
what is this If it's not a baseball movie, what
is it about?
Speaker 10 (17:41):
You know?
Speaker 5 (17:41):
And then somebody else is like the little it's like
saying Little Giants is about football?
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Wait, little Giants is not about football? Then I really
don't know.
Speaker 7 (17:48):
By the way, by the way, that was a frequent comment,
like moneyball is not about baseball, like they it's just
baseball in the backdrop. But that's what that's what this
category is. The category baseball is kind of the main setting, right,
and then there's an human story in between, so that
that comment just doesn't make sense.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Yeah, I agree with that. I I appreciate that you
guys love the movie. It just didn't hit home with me. Again,
there were parts it felt bad for the smallest kid
for a while. It felt bad for him throughout the movie.
The Vacuum Cleaners.
Speaker 7 (18:24):
Dennis Leary seems a little callous to you know. Yes,
it was sober grudging in trying to give him his
time to teach him to play. He's this he's a stepfather. Yeah,
and he's like getting to know Smalls a little bit.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
You know. It gets hit in the eye, puts the
steak on it. Alan. What's the actress who plays his mom,
Katie Alan? I don't know. I have no memory.
Speaker 6 (18:45):
If that's what it is, the Lost Star go ahead.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
My question to you Dan, are you going to show
this movie to Brody?
Speaker 9 (18:53):
Good question?
Speaker 4 (18:54):
And how do you think Brody would react to it?
Speaker 2 (19:01):
I think he probably would like it more than I did. Ok,
it's got a dog in it.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
You know, he has a big dog, big one.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
He'd probably he'd probably love that aspect of it.
Speaker 6 (19:15):
He'll love the gadgets retrieving the ball.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
You think, Yeah, but I'd probably wait like a couple
of years. He's five now. I don't know if you'd
totally understand Chevy when he's seven or eight in that aspect.
But I don't think that he would be able to
relate to kids riding on their bikes and getting together
and a school games.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
Isn't ever a little a bike he rides, right.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Yeah, but I just kids don't do that anymore.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
Yeah, but you you live I did that? Yeah, but
do you live in an area where you could do that?
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Like?
Speaker 7 (19:40):
Right?
Speaker 4 (19:41):
Like doesn't he do that? Go outside and play with
his He.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Rides his scooter in our cul de sac.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
Right, That's what I'm saying, Like there's a little he does.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
Go.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
I feel like there's actual.
Speaker 5 (19:49):
Kids who literally don't do that at all. Yours does
that a little bit as much as he as much
as it is now.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
When the kids on their e bikes come flying down
the street, some of them aren't legalized motorcycles or illegal motorcycles.
Speaker 7 (20:01):
So one thing that would be tough to top playing
another day to any child now, because when the movie
was made, you could get away with stuff like this.
But like literally, if if Brody was to watch it
or any any child, and then you get to that
point where it's like, wait a minute, Squints entices some
older girl and just making out with them. What's going
on there? Like that to me was a little over
(20:22):
the line, wasn't it, Sam? Do you just yeah, forget
that that part? That part's I mean at the time,
I think it was. You know, it flew as kind
of a spicy moment in the movie. By the way,
thanks to Mike coming in. It's Karen Allen who's yeah,
and great is the Lost Car?
Speaker 4 (20:38):
And I said, that's a good in person.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
Mike is always listening. We appreciate Mike.
Speaker 4 (20:44):
Shah, there's I.
Speaker 6 (20:46):
Mean, yeah, there was that part they ended up getting married,
so I was happy wife. Oh no, they have like
twelve children or something.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
Right, yeah, nine kids. That's the everything wraps up the.
Speaker 8 (20:58):
End of the film where all of the kids like
are disappearing and they're telling them kind of where they
went off in life. That part always got me too,
where they just sort of disappear into the distance. Well,
I think we've really hashed out this film.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Yeah, it was, but it all tied into Last Night
and because so many people were moved to the point
of tears from that aspect of the All Star Game.
I just felt like there was something missing from Sandlot
that I needed to see. So I watched it and
I'm as you two set it best. They still haven't
found what I'm looking for. I have not found it,
(21:34):
at least not in Sandlot's mansible. So I'm Dan Beyer.
Speaker 3 (21:37):

Argentina almost had one there saved by England. They continue
to lead one nil England does in the World Cup
semi final that you can see right now on Fox
Hydration Break as they are in the sixty ninth minutes.
He is Monzy Bolanos, I'm Dan Byer. It is Stu
Gotzon Company live here on Fox Sports Radio. We are
(22:12):
in the midst of the All Star break. Some NFL aheadliness,
some rankings of wrnkled some people, whether it be quarterbacks
or top one hundreds. Lebron James still a free agent.
Could that change? We'll find out in fifteen minutes or so.
But seff for some summer school Nancy Bolanos and Iowa
(22:33):
Sam are taking some classes. Jason Stewart, take it away,
thank you, Dan. It's time for I'll take it Honors Course.
Speaker 9 (22:44):
That's right. The name of the game is Honors Course.
Get it.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
You're runner, You're runner.
Speaker 7 (22:48):
Honors Course is going to pit Iowa Sam against Monzy Bolanos.
Dan has the results of our one that he will
give away. But it's Honors Course on Fox Sports Radio.
And here's your host, Dan Byer. Oh, welcome, thank you too.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
And Monzy is up to one, but Iowa Sam has
control and he has an opportunity to even the score. Again.
These courses may or may not have hosted an Open
Championship at some point. Some may still be a part
of the ROTA. Is the term that you will hear
over the next four days. Some have moved out either way.
(23:25):
Monzy is up to one. Winner that gets to five
and wins by two. That's how we decide it. So Sam,
you have one question here, all right, I will give
you a course. You have to tell me if that
if this name is hosted the Open Championship or not?
Speaker 9 (23:39):
Your runner?
Speaker 10 (23:40):
Your runner?
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Okay, you got it, all right. Crown Royal Marquee.
Speaker 8 (23:47):
Crown Royal marquis Now, are you trying to confuse me
with Crown Royal whiskey, Crown Royal Marquee. I'm going to
say that's that's not a place that has ever hosted
the Open Championship.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Jason Stewart was nodding his head. You know what that is, Jason,
Canadian whiskey. It is good job, Iowa, Sam, not a
good whiskey at that. Sorry, your runner, Your runner, Sam?
Even things up at to a piece?
Speaker 4 (24:16):
All right, okay, what.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
About Turnberry, Monsey, turn Berry, turn Barry?
Speaker 2 (24:23):
You got the next two questions?
Speaker 4 (24:25):
Is this one word? Is it two words?
Speaker 5 (24:30):
No, that's not, of course that the Open Championship has used.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
Not only is it. There have been some epic finishes
at Turnberry, but it has fallen out of the ROTA
purchased by are now President Trump's purchased the property. The
RNA has stated that they are not including Turnbarrier right
now as part of the rotation. However, that could change.
(24:55):
They made the decision soon after the January sixth attacks.
That was the decision at that point. But Tom Watson
almost won at Turnberry. He had the duel in the
Sun with Jack Nicholas, so much, so much happened at Turnberry.
Speaker 7 (25:10):
You were going to say that turn Bear. I thought
you were It was not going to be a place,
and you're gonna be like, yeah, turnberry. Turnberries are some
of the produce that you can't buy in the wake
of the Taco Bell virus. Turn berries. Don't buy those
off Neopodus. Watch out for that cyclostpora. What about Manci
the Lynx of sausage.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
There's no way, for the sake of anyone, there's no way.
Speaker 6 (25:34):
This is no that's a layup.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
What are you talking about? Sausage, sausage blanche sausage England.
You've never heard of it. The links of sausage.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
Links of sausage is not a golf course at all.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
They are delicious, but they are not They are not
a part of the Open Rota or have hosted an
Open Championship.
Speaker 8 (25:56):
There is a sign there is a Sandwich Massachusetts, and
I believe a Sandwich England.
Speaker 6 (26:02):
Thank you, random fact, thank you for that.
Speaker 7 (26:04):
I thought you were gonna be like, it is something
that I ordered at the Saugas Cafe this morning.
Speaker 6 (26:09):
I'd driven through Sandwich, Massachusetts before.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Oh, what about Musselburg links, Iowa, Sam, you've got these
next two.
Speaker 8 (26:17):
Links Musselburg links. Yes, Musselburg links. Man, that's tough, so
Burg links. I'm gonna say it's it's no, never been,
it's no.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
It has yes, long, long time ago. The last time
it hosted eighteen eighty nine, hosted six times. I would
have known that for sureeen eighty nine, eighteen eighty Yeah,
back at eighty nine, it was in the news.
Speaker 6 (26:51):
It was in the news.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
That was the last time it hosted. I had to
find a newspiece of that on microfiche. Sam, what about
middle fingers Bro, I.
Speaker 8 (27:06):
Want to win this middle fingers Burrow middle fingers Bro.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Uh no, No, that's correct.
Speaker 9 (27:15):
I made that one up.
Speaker 8 (27:18):
I feel like there's like something fingers like there's things
have been named like like islands in lakes are called fingers.
Sometimes they're used, but not in this sense finger lakes
and upstate exactly, and finger fingerling potatoes.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
I don't know. All right, All right? Sam? Is even
it up? Manzi? You get these two right?
Speaker 7 (27:34):
You?
Speaker 2 (27:35):
Uh well, how does this work? Nically win the game.
Speaker 6 (27:40):
And I don't get an opportunity to answer.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Well, that's why she has to win by two and
so you've had your opportunities. You could have gotten that
next question right.
Speaker 4 (27:48):
And beat me right and one.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
So that's why this is important important. What about Royal
lim and St Anne's Royal roy lithm in St Anne's
is that hosting an Open Championship? You are, by the way,
listening to Stu Gotsen Company live in the latest edition
of a game we like to call Honors Course.
Speaker 5 (28:13):
Your Royal Lithum in Anne and St Anne's is a
place that the Open Championship has gone to.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
You are correct, Yes, it's gonna get one in the
next couple of years or any else. The last one
to win, Adam Scott, ended up collapsing down the stretch
in twenty twelve.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
Not the actor.
Speaker 7 (28:32):
I have noticed that Moncey uh Monsey tries to read
me as soon as Dan gives a gives one of
the things like she's trying to read me and see
if I give off.
Speaker 4 (28:42):
A tell I'm actually trying trying to read Dan.
Speaker 5 (28:44):
First, then I go to you, you're not wrong, yes, yes,
you're not wrong, but I do try to read.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
All right, for the win, for the win. What about Carnusti.
Speaker 4 (28:58):
Carnousti Carnusti, Carnusti.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
That's it, just one word, Carnusti.
Speaker 4 (29:07):
There's there's there's there's courses that are just one word.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Your runner, you runner.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
I'm going to say, yo. Carnousti is not that way.
Speaker 6 (29:23):
The open is incorrect.
Speaker 9 (29:24):
It is.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
It is a very popular. There's been some great action
at Carnousti.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
Carnousti.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Cosco Molinari the last one to win their golf car.
Most notably known. Not only was it the time where
Sergio Garcia ended up losing in a playoff to Padric Harrington,
but it's most known for Jean van Develd the nineteen
ninety nine with a three stroke lead and him blowing
it on the final hole, the seventy second hole, then
falling into a playoff with Justin Leonard and Paul Lowery,
(29:55):
where Paul Lowery ended up winning. But Carnusti sometimes called
Carnasty for some the conditions that they've had there.
Speaker 4 (30:02):
You're killing me small, So what happens now?
Speaker 2 (30:04):
Now you get two answers? Okay, Burbery, Wait, wait so
Mansie's a point ahead of me, right, yes, so I
need to win by.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
Two, So you need to get both of these.
Speaker 6 (30:16):
So I would only be up by one. Yes, Correctay,
we keep going, all right?
Speaker 9 (30:21):
What was again?
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Burbery? Burbery?
Speaker 6 (30:23):
Yes, that is incorrect, had so much conviction behind that,
I was confident that was the fastest.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
You've a great designer. I wear Berbery cologne.
Speaker 6 (30:34):
That's what I thought it was like. It just was
a common name that was like top for years.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
By the way, have gotten compliments of worn different variations.
But in line at Starbucks, you smell good. Thank you
very much. I appreciate that.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
Bery.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
What about Royal sink ports Royal sinks or sink sink
Royal sink Port.
Speaker 8 (30:58):
I think you're trying to trick me with a Steward
sac thing. I'm going to say no, it did in
nineteen oh nine and nineteen twenty. Just twice, just twice, Manzy.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
You give me once from one hundred for the victory,
for the victory Mirfield, I got.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
The car nasty one, which is like the eighteen hundreds.
So that what you said? No?
Speaker 9 (31:20):
No, those a recent one.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
Oh darn.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
What about what about Merefield?
Speaker 4 (31:25):
Merefield, Merefield.
Speaker 5 (31:31):
Mirror No Mirfield, No, I'm gonna say no, it's not
a place that the OBA Championship has gone to.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
It sure has a uncle of times, including when Phil
Mickelson won in twenty thirteen. Mierfield one of the biggest
tests in golf that has not recently held the event.
Hopefully that will change in the future. All Right, Monzy,
you get this one right. You can still win your run.
You run a Royal Port Rush.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
Yes, that is a place that the Open Championship.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
And that is correct the winner.
Speaker 4 (32:04):
A plus is that where this one's happening. That No,
it's the Royal Lash that was last year.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
This year Royal Birkedale. Remember we started the Royal Birkdale,
but I remember.
Speaker 5 (32:17):
Royal, So I was like, it's either the place that
he said John Royal.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Marquis could have been. There was going to be Royal
Kansas City. But I figured that you guys would see
through that one, just like you guys saw through middle
Fingers bro which I thought was was and but Bob,
that one was.
Speaker 6 (32:38):
Uh yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
If I would have said Baba booie, you wouldn't You
would have known. You would have known that it wasn't real. Moncie.
If I may, Dan, if I may, great job, great
job very much. Hopefully it's a good primer that Saint
Andrews has the Open Championship next year, and then, as
we mentioned, Royalhythm in St Anne's in twenty twenty eight,
(32:59):
maybe the Royal Sofia and Blanche will get it. At
some point we shall see.
Speaker 6 (33:07):
That was a good one, that one. That one tricked
me pretty good.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
Only you, Sam.
Speaker 9 (33:11):
I watched the.
Speaker 8 (33:11):
Golden Girls, but I didn't think about that at all.
I forgot Sophia. I remember Blanche for.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
Sure, Your honor, your Runner. The links of sausage didn't
fool you though.
Speaker 6 (33:20):
That was beginner speed right there.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
All right, Argentina's trying to score, but they can't do
it right now. Eighty first minute, England continues to lead
Argentina one nil, playing in the World Cup semifinal in Atlanta.
She's Monty Belanos, I'm Dan Byer coming up next. Steph
Curry speaks on Lebron. It's Stu Gotza Company live here

Speaker 2 (33:56):
Now, I understand why you got the chicken skin with
this playing. It's Stugatzi Company live here on Fox Sports Radio.
She's Manti Belagno, So I'm Dan Byer. It wasn't the
kids on the bikes. It was Ray Charles that would
have gotten you emotional. But still even that.
Speaker 9 (34:13):
Was a little weird.
Speaker 8 (34:14):
They all stopped playing ball and they look up at
the sky and they're like, wow, in the movie in
the Sandlot or did you fast forward through that, Dan.
Speaker 4 (34:24):
How much did you actually watch?
Speaker 2 (34:27):
When I watched Sandlot last night trying to find out
why people got so emotional with the ceremony, and I
just fast forward into the part where they kept trying
to get the baseball and used all of their different contraptions.
So it was when the metal hand when they were gonna.
Speaker 6 (34:44):
Erect her set. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
I then fast forwarded it up until the vacuum cleaner,
and then as they were trying to suck the baseball up.
Then I watched and saw the whole thing explode. By
the way they exploded in Atlanta. Because Argentina has pulled
even with England a goal in the eighty fourth minute,
now tied up at one apiece in the World Cup
(35:09):
semi final, Argentina once again in England. They were smelling
the final. They knew just ten fifteen minutes and now
Argentina pulled even and we could be in for a
long one.
Speaker 4 (35:24):
No, I was a nice shot by Enzo Fernandez. I
was a nice shot.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
We are obligated to talk about Lebron James. No, I'm
just kidding, but.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
Sort of.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
I actually find it like I feel like I should
earn like a bad Mick Jagger cannot believe it. Mick
Jagger's in disgust that England allowed this goal.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
Get him a shot.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
When we go through a show and don't talk about
Lebron Monty, I almost feel like I should get an award.
I as I walk out like congratulations. For two hours,
you did not speak about Lebron James. Great job. There
will be no award today, Steph Curry on Good Morning
America earlier today.
Speaker 10 (36:06):
The they we know how to win is beautiful weather,
great golf. I know he's under that, but like you said,
we've the USA experience that we had in the battles
that we had over the years. We just know how
to play basketball, and I think that he would enjoy,
you know, just the idea of what it means to
(36:28):
finish your creator right way.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
The Steph Curry pitch if you were to make a
pitch to Lebron James, presented there on GMA earlier today,
just like so many other players are apparently making their
pitches to Lebron Jay.
Speaker 5 (36:42):
Yeah, like the Philadelphia seventy six ers apparently, even though
I don't I don't know how much I believe that
because Tyrese Maxie is represented by Clutch Sports, one of them,
one of the three for sure is So I'm just
like out of tyree'se Maxie, Jalen Brown, Joel embiid that
the three of them are in contact with Lebron James
to try and sway him to come to Philadelphia. I
don't know how much truth behind that is because one
(37:04):
of them is represented by Clutch and I think it
is Tyrese Maxi. So it's like, I don't know, but
I'm just how is this such a difficult decision?
Speaker 4 (37:13):
Honestly? Like, how is this such a difficult decision for you, Lebron?
It isn't you think we already That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (37:20):
We have to already know, I mean he has already know, yeah, right,
And it's just like it's not information that he wants
to reveal yet I don't know why I don't.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Yeah, I think that we know it right. And that's
the whole deal with all of this is I would
think that if you were Tyrese Maxi and you had
that relationship, you would have sent a message to Lebron
or somehow tried to get it to him to be like, dude,
why don't you come to Philadelphia and play with us?
Like none of that, but it's all now being framed,
which I know it gets under Jason Stewart's skin in
(37:50):
this way as it's kind of like presenting Lebron James
or all these players are presenting their things to Lebron James.
Speaker 7 (37:57):
I think Draymond went on his podcast and he's like,
I gotta give my pitch, and then though all the
Sixers reportedly have given Lebron the pitch, and then today
I think Steph Curry, if you listen to that, it's
he was begrudgingly doing it. I don't think Steph Curry
really cares about this, but there has been some kind
of a a begging from Lebron's camp. Let's let's cause
(38:18):
a stir. We need to create interest in this decision,
the final decision.
Speaker 5 (38:25):
I could see the Warriors being like, sure, come on down.
I mean, we don't care because I if the Warriors
are realistic on what their next year is going to
look like, they're not a real contender. There's no way
that they're looking at it and they're like, we can,
we can get out there.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
Argentina has just scored. You did see a good job
finishing your sentence. By the way, Argentina has just scored
in the ninety second minutes in stoppage time of the
second half. Here they have scored two leg goals. In fact,
they actually scored almost scored twenty seconds prior they hit
the poe. England's defense folding like it's Origami.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
Unreal on how is this happening?
Speaker 5 (39:10):
I feel like, what was it the game against Egypt
where they didn't score their first goal until almost the
seventieth minute and then they went on to score three.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
Yes, they're getting opportunities. Look at this. Oh no, that
was the first one that missed and then they were
able to respond. My goodness, Argentina has now taken the lead.

my pitch to Lebron would be like, we're gonna trail
for most of the game, but don't worry because we're
gonna end up scoring late and then maybe we'll even
get some calls if we need to. But that's how
(39:59):
we're going to advance.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
Yeah, maybe they should get Lorono on the Argentina team.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
England's running out, England's running out of time, and so
are we. Monci belagno. So I'm Dan Byer. We'll talk
to you tomorrow here on Fox.
Speaker 4 (40:09):
Bye.
