Speaker 2 (00:19):
Now let's get this party started.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
If you're traveling on this Labor Day, please be safe.
The roads can be crazy at times, but there's a
reason why I'm wearing blue today, Monty. There's a reason.
Why are you wearing blue? I'm a little blue. A
little blue. Summer's kind of over. You know, as much
as we love football season and being excited, there is
something to the season of summer. unofficially winding down now

(00:50):
i know what's going to happen we're going to still
get sweltering heat over the next two weeks and then
once the calendar finally changes to summer there'll be some
other drastic shift in certain places will be getting snow
in like a month however right now with the unofficial
end of summer happening with this labor day i'm feeling
a little blue today That's.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Cute that you think come Halloween in L.A., it's not
going to be 90 degrees and that I'm not going
to be tanning on Halloween.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
It probably will be. It's going to be 100 out
here midweek after we had rain yesterday. But in certain
parts of the country, this is the this is the
unique thing. So I grew up in the upper Midwest
and football season would start the first or second week
of August and it would be sweltering hot and humid.
But by mid-October, people are wearing their winter hats and

(01:35):
long underwear to football games because they're played at night
and it's cold. So you go from one extreme to
another in a quick two months. So it happens like that.
But right now, just to celebrate what the summer was.
It's just a little sad that now it's because everybody's
now in school. Like if you haven't gone into school,
you're starting school tomorrow for most everybody. And it's a

(01:57):
late Labor Day this year. You're starting school tomorrow. And
that's why it's a little sad is I remember what
it was like pre Memorial Day, thinking of all the
things I wanted to do this summer and then realized
that I got to 10 percent of those. I just
took three days off vacation last week, did 20 percent
of what I wanted to do. It was, I don't
want to say a complete waste, but it was darn near.

(02:18):
I did not get to do the things that I
wanted to do, and I feel the same way about summer.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
I'm still working on something that I was working on
during COVID, so I think you're doing better than I am.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Well, this gives us a time to reflect, and it
is an extended weekend, so people took the opportunity to
maybe get out of town on Thursday last week, and
now everybody's kind of making their way back, making their
way back home, and it allows us to have a
Mount Rushmore Monday.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Hey, you there.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Yeah, you. The guy with the spreadsheet pretending to work.

Speaker 6 (02:51):
Do you find yourself needing a pick-me-up as you're dragging
in your cubicle to start the week? Are you ready
to put the sports back in sports talk? Well then,
you're in luck because every Monday we climb.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
The mountain, we talk to legends, and we argue about
things you want and I want the truth. You can't handle.

Speaker 6 (03:15):
The truth that absolutely do not matter and are completely subjective.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
This is Mount Rushmore Monday.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Isaac Longcron, do you accept the responsibilities of being the
judge on Mount Rushmore Monday?

Speaker 7 (03:31):
Is it okay if I do not? Here's why. Monty
has very graciously offered to... get us pizza so like
i can't fathom like not awarding.

Speaker 8 (03:42):
It to monty or else i'm going to seem like
the jerk that i am look at that may i
abdicate today.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Um oh sure okay sure then you're going to participate yes.

Speaker 8 (03:52):
I'd love to and i will win and i will
win all.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Right jason stewart anybody want to be judge anyone i
can be a.

Speaker 9 (03:59):
Judge i'll okay you want to be a judge you.

Speaker 10 (04:01):
Can't i'll take up judge i i've been a very
bad judge for this game but i will be a
judge all right there we go Chris Perfette.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
You will be the judge of Mount Rushmore Monday as
we draft holidays. What I need you to do is
quickly give us a draft order. By the way, Jason
Stewart and I were in Matt Holliday's home with Jackson
at one time. That's a flex. Right?

Speaker 8 (04:30):
Wow. I remember that story.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
I was going to draft Ethan as my first pick.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Ethan was there as well. Ethan was there as well.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
All right.

Speaker 10 (04:37):
I just use a dice roller. I just use a
quick dice roller program. No one took Billy Holliday. Just
until recently, I thought Billy Holliday was a guy. Just
until recently.

Speaker 7 (04:49):
Really?

Speaker 5 (04:51):
And now monty's like wait a minute.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
No don't confuse me yes i don't confuse.

Speaker 11 (04:56):
Me all right what do you got for the draft
order chris all right just rolled up some dice here
i've got dan going number one i have isaac number
two monty three and jason four okay all right.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
I was wondering if monty was gonna go one right
that would have been the right choice so i get
number one And I will take Christmas. I will take Christmas,
number one. I know it doesn't relate to all religions,
but to my religion, we have Christmas, and it is awesome.
It is so much so that Home Depot has already

(05:31):
started to celebrate it. Christmas goes number one.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
By the way, last Christmas, Dan, I gave you my heart,
and the very next day, you gave it away. I did.
I always appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
That broach as well that you gave me as a gift,
I gave to someone else.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
All right.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Isaac, you're on the clock.

Speaker 8 (05:47):
By the way, like my new brooch? Anyways, I got
to go.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
Thanksgiving.

Speaker 7 (05:52):
I mean, stuffing your face with food, pumpkin pie, nap
on the couch, football.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
Thanksgiving, baby.

Speaker 9 (06:01):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Amant, you're number one, I think, fell to three.

Speaker 9 (06:05):
Yes, I would have been my number one if I
would have gone first.

Speaker 8 (06:08):
He's right.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
He's right. Y'all, the best holiday.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
It's Halloween.

Speaker 8 (06:12):
Everybody, come on.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Halloween.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
I know it's not even like a holiday in the
sense that we have the day off, but it doesn't matter.
It is an awesome time to have a lot of candy,
to dress up, to be spooky, to get scared.

Speaker 9 (06:27):
And it actually feels.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Like it's not summer because it gets dark early.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Halloween is the only answer.

Speaker 5 (06:36):
Would you guys agree that this is a very much...
become a woman's holiday with Instagram. I think that 98%
of our female listeners were like, yes.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
You know, like we like to dress up and wear
cute outfits.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
No, every outfit is supposed to be slutty. That's right.
That's what it is.

Speaker 9 (06:56):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Every single one. Every single one. It could be a nurse.
It could be a construction worker.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
A cat.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
It could be a cat.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
100%.

Speaker 8 (07:05):
That's what I went as last year.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
It's not just French maid. That's not what it is.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
No.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
It's every single female costume.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Absolutely.

Speaker 8 (07:13):
I'll be going French maid this year, by the way.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
I couldn't make Dylan Brooks sexy or Philly Karen.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
But you know.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Monty's Philly Karen was so good. I didn't even know
it was her.

Speaker 8 (07:24):
What a great idea.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
I remember.

Speaker 5 (07:26):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
I dressed up as Philly Karen last year.

Speaker 8 (07:29):
That's great. I came into the studio. People didn't recognize me.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
I'm sure the losers on my street have already hung
Halloween lights. Appreciate Monty's pick.

Speaker 9 (07:37):
That's right. They're not losers.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Just man. My house has had skeletons for three weeks
because my son loves it so much.

Speaker 9 (07:43):
That's right.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
Oh, all right.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Jason, you got back to back picks.

Speaker 5 (07:48):
I'm kind of catering to the Catholic judge on this one.
And as someone who's not very religious, you could maybe
cross-check my statement here, Chris. On Easter, Jesus Christ returned
to Earth from being dead.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Yes.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
I mean, I don't know if you could have a
better event in the history of the planet and not
stop this game and give me... the winner right away.

Speaker 8 (08:18):
Makes the rest of us seem lazy.

Speaker 10 (08:20):
This is maybe where you've messed up because you were
really leading me on for a second knowing that I
am Catholic but also maybe knowing that I like to drink.
I thought you were going to go St. Patrick's Day.

Speaker 12 (08:32):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
Well, let's just give away answers.

Speaker 12 (08:35):
I know.

Speaker 8 (08:35):
Why are we giving away answers?

Speaker 9 (08:36):
I'm not saying that. I'm just saying he swerved me.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
He swerved me. As luck would have it, St. Patrick's Day.
I'm going to go St. Patrick's Day with my next pick. So, um...
Jesus comes back and St. Patrick's Day. I don't know
how you could argue with that. Sorry, guys.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Kicks all the snakes out of Ireland. We all drink.

Speaker 7 (08:55):
And the Big Ten Conference has just granted Jason two
choices there, by the way.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
All right. I'm up.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
I'm up.

Speaker 8 (09:04):
Okay, this is, you know.

Speaker 11 (09:07):
Sometimes I'm not stalling up at.

Speaker 8 (09:11):
Midnight, but I'm going to take New Year's. I am
going to take New Year's.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
New Year's can be fun, but there's not a lot
of pressure.

Speaker 12 (09:20):
Like, if you don't want to hang out, you don't
want to.

Speaker 9 (09:22):
Stay out late, you don't have to.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
But if you do, you have the opportunity to party
all night wherever.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
A cute outfit.

Speaker 9 (09:30):
Take another picture.

Speaker 8 (09:31):
Little streamers.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Let's go.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
New Year's.

Speaker 9 (09:34):
Can I ask a question of you, Monsi?

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Sure.

Speaker 10 (09:37):
I have come in the recent understanding as I've come
out to Los Angeles, lived on the East Coast for
most of my life. It feels like New Year's is
an East Coast part holiday. because everything's timed up with
Times Square, the ball drop, the stuff on the, you know,
what's his name on TV?

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Ryan Seacrest.

Speaker 10 (09:55):
Ryan Seacrest on television. And since coming to California. maybe
you can help me with this. I have not been
able to find any New Year's Eve, like, Something for
TV or even just a party. This feels like it
is very New York focused. Eastern time zone focused.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
I legit will celebrate New Year's Eve twice at 9 p.m.
and at midnight.

Speaker 5 (10:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
You know what?

Speaker 9 (10:20):
Great point.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
That's what we do. That's what we do.

Speaker 8 (10:22):
There's two.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
And for those that don't know what they do for
us on the West coast is they just replay what
happened three hours prior.

Speaker 9 (10:28):
To New York.

Speaker 5 (10:29):
Yeah. That's on ABC.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
That's there's no, they started to do Las Vegas. Like
Las Vegas could be a spot where you could celebrate,
but what they do for us out here is there's
no big ball drop in LA or San Francisco or Seattle.
There's no West coast, which leads to, I think Chris's question.

Speaker 5 (10:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
I have a quick question.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Does this incorporate Eve and day?

Speaker 5 (10:53):
No, it can't. Right. You were talking about Eve.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
I was particularly specifically talking about.

Speaker 6 (10:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
No, no.

Speaker 9 (10:58):
We're talking about Eve. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (10:59):
Eve and day can be two different parts.

Speaker 5 (11:01):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Celebrating the midnight. Yes.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
I just wanted to make sure.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (11:06):
All right.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Isaac, go ahead and take New Year's Day because he's
going to.

Speaker 8 (11:10):
Is it my turn yet?

Speaker 5 (11:11):
It is. Okay.

Speaker 8 (11:12):
So just to be clear, you took New Year's Eve, Monsi.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
I sure did.

Speaker 11 (11:16):
Okay.

Speaker 7 (11:16):
I'm actually going to take New Year's Day both generally
and personally. We're fortunate enough to live in Southern California
and Pasadena is where the world begins the new year.

Speaker 8 (11:28):
You've got the Rose Parade. You've got the Rose Bowl game.
theoretically on new year's day.

Speaker 7 (11:33):
As it should be, but also where we live, you
know how they do the B2 stealth bomber flyovers to
start the Rose parade. We can see that from our house.
So it's a nice little tradition. We go outside and
we wait for the stealth bomber to fly over.

Speaker 5 (11:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
I did a tick tock, which by the way, you
could see it. Got like 200,000 views.

Speaker 8 (11:52):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
And then half the comments were depending on what political
side you're on. Some were like, what a waste of taxpayers' money.
And then other people were like, this is what freedom
looks like. It was a great, great picture, you know,
like representation of what was going on in this country
at the time. But again, I encourage you to check
out Buyer Talk on TikTok, if you will. I'm not stalling.

(12:14):
I have got a pick here.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
You got the steak here.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
Things.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
changed for me when i had a son and father's
day for me father's day big deal not only that
it's the final round of the u.s.

Speaker 9 (12:28):
Open tradition that was coming so.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
We're gonna go waiting for that yeah we're gonna go
father's day.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
But that's a good one you get socks you get
a tie a dot.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
Maybe in the comment section of our uh of our
simulcast right now stefan digs just give you a thumbs
up father's.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Day Tyree kill gave me eight thumbs up.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Um, I, I am doing this for the judges because
I don't love it as much as others might, but
I think it's just a good value pick. Fourth of July. Okay.
I'm going fourth of July here. A few weeks after
father's day, but I think it's the high point of
a lot of people's summer. So independence day, America's birthday.

Speaker 8 (13:15):
America, Isaac. Oh, uh, Nobody took St. Patrick's Day yet.
I was actually going to take it.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
Oh, Jason did. Oh, Jason took it.

Speaker 6 (13:28):
Jason did.

Speaker 5 (13:29):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Okay, so.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
Is somebody not listening to the show over there?

Speaker 2 (13:33):
He's kind of locked on.

Speaker 8 (13:33):
I was listening to the show. I just wasn't listening
to you. There's an important distinction there.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
That's it. That's it.

Speaker 8 (13:39):
Hey, that was a good one. I got him pretty
good on that one.

Speaker 5 (13:41):
That was a burn.

Speaker 8 (13:42):
All right, I'm actually going to take.

Speaker 7 (13:45):
Memorial Day. This is unprecedented technology because literally my mind
is being read over the air by dad. You got
to add in the word free.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Did you pick?

Speaker 7 (14:03):
If only the Big Ten Conference could have technology like this.
I'm going to take Memorial Day just because I have
memories of growing up. And the Sunday of Memorial Day
weekend would always be the Indianapolis 500.

Speaker 8 (14:14):
And I have some great memories of that. So I'm
going to go with Memorial Day.

Speaker 5 (14:16):
All right.

Speaker 8 (14:17):
And also, by the way, great NBA playoff memories. Reggie
Miller's miracle shot. Sean Elliott's miracle shot. All on Memorial Day.

Speaker 5 (14:25):
Just as a side note.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Remembering those who died.

Speaker 5 (14:28):
Yes.

Speaker 9 (14:29):
As well.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
That was a given.

Speaker 8 (14:31):
Thank you.

Speaker 7 (14:32):
I'll check my mentions right now.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Celtics-Pistons game five. I know it doesn't, but... Oh, yeah.

Speaker 8 (14:39):
That was the Memorial Day Massacre in the 85 final. Celtics-Lakers, yeah.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
If you're keeping score, Isaac picks the things that impact
him the most. The stealth bomber on New Year's Day
and those great sporting events for Memorial Day.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Thanksgiving turkey, mashed potatoes.

Speaker 8 (14:55):
Pumpkin pie.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Pumpkin pie.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
Can I keep this rolling?

Speaker 3 (15:01):
I have a question, though.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Can I take Black Friday?

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Is Black Friday considered a holiday?

Speaker 12 (15:12):
I will take Black Friday not just from the football
that will still be happening nowadays and the shopping and
the discounts but the leftover food is always great.

Speaker 10 (15:24):
On Black Friday that turkey sandwich is so good.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
Just whatever it is I just get excited about the
leftovers on Friday.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
Don't get it twisted she wants.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
To shop I want to shop and don't get it
twisted I want the green bean casserole not the turkey
That's true. But I do love me a green bean
casserole on a Friday.

Speaker 9 (15:43):
OK, that's mine, man.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
Chris, I'm going to give you two here to addressing
it to me. I've already won the contest. So everything
I'm about to say is just gravy. I'm going to
go with Labor Day. I'm really enjoying my Labor Day
with all the cast and crew here today. And a
shout out to all those people that have done labor
that built this country. Thank you for being in labor.

(16:09):
And then I'm going to throw kind of a curveball
at everybody. President's Day.

Speaker 7 (16:15):
Interesting.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
President's Day. I like President's Day. It's a nice day
off in, what, January?

Speaker 8 (16:20):
Real President's Day aficionado there.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
February.

Speaker 5 (16:23):
That's what I meant. February.

Speaker 6 (16:25):
Yep. Good enough.

Speaker 8 (16:26):
Good enough.

Speaker 9 (16:28):
My turn?

Speaker 2 (16:29):
Yes, to round out your team.

Speaker 8 (16:31):
Round out my team.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Let's be real here.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Who doesn't like chocolates, flowers, maybe a nice bottle of wine?
I'm going to take that along with gifts for Valentine's Day.

Speaker 8 (16:44):
Thank you so much. Who doesn't love Valentine's Day?

Speaker 6 (16:48):
Candy.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
There's a real female flavor to Monty's picks. Shopping. Isaac?

Speaker 8 (16:58):
I am, to be honest, I'm running out of holidays, folks. Boy,
I'm really running out of holidays.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
We only have two picks left.

Speaker 8 (17:07):
Wait, we all have two picks left?

Speaker 9 (17:09):
No, no, no.

Speaker 8 (17:10):
You have one.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
Oh, you and Dan. Got it.

Speaker 5 (17:12):
Okay. Oh, boy.

Speaker 8 (17:15):
Don't mess up, Isaac.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
I know.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
A lot of pressure.

Speaker 8 (17:18):
I'm frantically Googling as we speak.

Speaker 7 (17:21):
Okay, that's taken. That's taken. That's taken. That would be disingenuous. Okay,
I'm actually going to go with... Oh!

Speaker 3 (17:32):
Why did I think of this earlier?

Speaker 8 (17:33):
Hanukkah!

Speaker 7 (17:36):
Instead of one day of presents, you get eight crazy nights!
I mean, for the Adam Sandler song alone. Rod Carew reference.
Where have you been? Eight days, that's right.

Speaker 8 (17:49):
Nice, Sam.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
We all love our mothers, but it's tough. It's the
toughest day that you have to send cards a week
and a half because of mail. Reservations are through the roof.
So I can't go Mother's Day here. Can I do
Christmas Eve?

Speaker 5 (18:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
I mean, I took Christmas. I will double up with
Christmas Eve, which was traditionally the night that we actually
opened our presents. So give me Christmas Eve.

Speaker 6 (18:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
One all right not only did i leave mother's day
off i took like five seconds to yeah yeah to
shoot it down.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
But it's very true on mother's day you can't do
anything like reservations you can't go out you can't i.

Speaker 8 (18:34):
Think i shut it down shut it down.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
There's i always bring in breakfast on sundays and i'm
pretty sure on mother's day that's on a sunday it
was recently is it always on a.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
Sunday always okay so i i.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
Came in and i was like a smidge late and
i remember telling isaac Everybody was at Taco Bell. Yes.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
Everywhere. I thought it was, I.

Speaker 9 (18:53):
Thought it was too good.

Speaker 4 (18:54):
You know, for not too good for mother's day, I guess.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
All right. There it is.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
Our Mount Rushmore is now it's up to Chris perfect
to decide the order to recap. I had Christmas father's day,
4th of July and Christmas Eve. Isaac at Thanksgiving, new
year's day, Memorial day and Hanukkah. Motsi at Halloween, new
year's Eve, black Friday and Valentine's day. Jason had Easter St.
Patrick's day, labor day and president's day.

Speaker 9 (19:20):
Wow.

Speaker 10 (19:20):
I almost wanted to participate in this because I had
two of my choices still on the board here.

Speaker 6 (19:24):
Wow.

Speaker 9 (19:26):
None of you took Cinco de Mayo.

Speaker 8 (19:29):
Oh, good one.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
What?

Speaker 6 (19:32):
What?

Speaker 5 (19:34):
John Ramos would hate that.

Speaker 6 (19:36):
Why?

Speaker 5 (19:36):
He hates Cinco de Mayo. He hates it. That's fair.

Speaker 9 (19:39):
That's fair.

Speaker 10 (19:40):
And right before that, and I know this is a
bit nerdy one, but May the fourth because that's kind
of become like a weird nerdy thing true we always
get something about that Chris Perfette.

Speaker 5 (19:49):
Loves early May stuff, huh?

Speaker 4 (19:51):
Yes.

Speaker 9 (19:52):
It's a good time when everything's like, you know, raining.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Let's see here.

Speaker 10 (19:55):
So Jason definitely had the most and he was absolutely
angling to try to get the favor with me. I
think Isaac has probably covered the most ground. Dan is
definitely the most sentimental and I can appreciate him. But
because Monty is getting us pizza, she wins this game.

Speaker 5 (20:11):
Oh, that's yeah.

Speaker 10 (20:13):
And also and also New Year's Eve is just really solid. Really,
really solid game. valentine's really solid monty wins all.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Right monty wins i win for.

Speaker 9 (20:23):
Uh i like to win when it's.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
Shopping candy and slutty outfit.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
That is you just made it sound better the.

Speaker 8 (20:32):
Four tenets our country has been built.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
On you just made it sound better i mean jason
took a day that you don't even get off of
work in st patrick's day.

Speaker 9 (20:42):
In a day, we're all working right now.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
He takes days.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
I just can't believe Chris voted against Jesus. And then
Dan doubled down on Jesus, by the way. You could
have given some credit to Kwanzaa or Muslim.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Text from my mom. He didn't mean it, Mom. Thanks, Dan.

Speaker 6 (21:06):
He didn't mean it.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Jeez. See, there it was. I'll tell you what. Mother's
Day is going to be very fruitful next year for
the moms in my life. Just kidding, Mom. We love you.
Just looking for an overall 30,000 foot view of it.
Monty even agreed, Mom.

Speaker 9 (21:27):
Mother's Day is tough.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
It is tough.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
It's tough for everybody.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Ah, dangerous road that we drive.

Speaker 3 (21:34):

Speaker 7 (21:47):
This one's for you, Dan. Yesterday, a gentleman in Pretoria,
South Africa, was recording himself practicing on the driving range
of when he was struck by lightning. Thankfully, this gentleman
was fine. He was released from the hospital after being
kept overnight for observation. But again, he was videotaping himself

(22:09):
on the driving range. So the whole thing was on
video and here's how it sounded.

Speaker 8 (22:14):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
No joke.

Speaker 8 (22:30):
He tweeted, quote, I got struck by lightning while playing golf.
What you love will kill you.

Speaker 5 (22:35):
Back to you.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
That is stuff to not mess with. There was, I played,
I don't know, it was like a year or so ago.
And I was having a back nine like no other.
Like I was really in a rhythm. And then there
were dark clouds.

Speaker 4 (22:52):
And you're like, I'm going to finish this.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
Yeah, we're on the 16th hole. And so you're like,
all right, let's try to hurry up. And I actually
hit a chip. I was off the green, hit a
chip that was in with three inches, tapped it in,
powered on, ready to go to the par 317th. And
so I tell the guys, I go, I'm going to
run over and I'm going to tee off. And I
teed off. And then we hear... You know, like that.

(23:17):
You have to leave. You cannot mess with that stuff.
You have to get off. The sirens from the course
were blaring, like, get off the course. We waited it
out for two hours and then went and finished our rounds.
That's what we did. We waited inside. But do not
mess with that lightning stuff. Do not mess with it.
Jason Stewart.

Speaker 5 (23:32):
To Isaac's last point, and I think the golfer actually
pointed this out, dying what you love doing. You know,
you always hear that. Man, wouldn't you love to just die?
Or at least he died doing what he loved doing.
I thought about this last week when it was the
20th anniversary of Steve Irwin passed away after getting stung by.
And then one of the great free solo climbers recently

(23:53):
fell off Yosemite. I mean, these are like examples of like, yeah,
if you're going to go out early, might as well
be doing what you do. I like that.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
Doesn't Matthew McConaughey tell the story that his dad died
making love to his mom?

Speaker 5 (24:06):
Oh, yeah. Great. Perfect example. All right.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
All right.

Speaker 5 (24:09):
All right.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
And it's. This story is told with pride almost in
a way.

Speaker 5 (24:14):
Yeah. Crazy.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
But if you're on the golf course, it's not worth it.
Even if you go birdie birdie on the way in,
just get away.

Speaker 5 (24:21):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
That stuff. Lightning is, you don't want to mess with it.
Just like you don't want to mess with Lane Kiffin
right now.

Speaker 6 (24:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (24:27):
You don't.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Monty gave me that. Look, Dabo tried to.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
Dabo's not the one.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
And he got 51 put on poking the bear, poking
the bears 31 to three at halftime. LSU probably could
have scored even more if they wanted to. But now
here comes the question. After a date with Louisiana Tech
this Saturday, Ole Miss comes to town. And we saw
Ole Miss last night against Louisville give up 38 points,
almost blew a lead. Lincoln Keenholz making his first start

(24:54):
since high school at quarterback. And Louisville was able to
move the football with ease against Ole Miss. So I
would assume LSU will also have that possibility. Here is
my question. Does Lane Kiffin run up the score on
Ole Miss? And I know there may be an obvious
answer at first, but I think if you go to

(25:16):
both sides, it's more of a dilemma than what you
would think. And I would say that the reason that
he wouldn't do it is because of the coaching staff
and the players that are still there. And I'll even
just say coaching staff. Pete Golding was an assistant on
his staff. Not everybody left with Lane. A bunch of

(25:36):
guys did, but there are other guys that stayed there.
And he wouldn't do that to them to put them
in a bad light. So I'm going to say that
is why Lane Kiffin would not run up the score
for when they face Ole Miss in less than two weeks.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
There's no way.

Speaker 9 (25:51):
There's no way.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
But consider it as a con. Consider it like for
a reason to run it up or not to run
it up. And to not run it up would be
you would make Pete Golding and his staff look bad.

Speaker 6 (26:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:03):
What you're saying is that Lane Kiffin is a considerate person.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
And I don't know if that man is.

Speaker 4 (26:09):
That man is not someone that is not thinking seriously.
about himself and so he's gonna go out there and
he is going to try and put boots to ass
against Ole Miss because he knows things he left there
and it left things weird Ole Miss is gonna go
try and kick Alice Hughes ass for sure Ellis, you can't.

(26:32):
He's not going to be easy on them because Ole
Miss is going.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
To come hard at them. Okay, so the reason, because
I don't want to get this twisted. I want to
come up with a pros and cons list. The pro
on running it up on Ole Miss is because... it
left weird.

Speaker 5 (26:47):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Things were left weird by, uh, between Lane Kiffin.

Speaker 5 (26:52):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
So I'm going to put that as a reason to
run up the score.

Speaker 12 (26:57):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Okay. So I said the coaches were a part of
Lane Kiffin's team. The other part is the players. And
that's why I wanted to separate it because he recruited
a lot of those players. Some players were, wanted to follow.
Other players didn't, but he knows those players. He knows
those players personally. Does he want to rub it into them?

(27:17):
I don't know. I think he would have more of
a reason to run it up against Clemson than he
would against Ole Miss or any other school. So I'm
going to say a reason why he wouldn't, a con
to running up the score would be because of the
players on Ole Miss that he coached. It's a weird spot,
but He can go and embarrass Clemson all he wants,
but he knows these Ole Miss players personally. He knows

(27:38):
Trinidad Chambliss. Trinidad Chambliss was a big reason why Lane
Kiffin got the LSU job this offseason. So are you
really going to want to embarrass Trinidad Chambliss? I don't
think so. So I want to put the players at
Ole Miss as a reason on why he wouldn't want
to run it up. Oh, you have a con? Okay.
On why he wouldn't want to run it up?

Speaker 5 (27:59):
Correct.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (28:00):
Because how about this, guys? Sportsmanship. Because karma is a bitch.
Because you have to play the school many times over
the next few years.

Speaker 8 (28:11):
Why?

Speaker 5 (28:12):
Running things up is just bad karma.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
Parma is a B is a reason.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
Why you guys are being really like logical and giving
me these reasons. And I don't think Lane Kiffin comes
with logic. Why he would run it up is because
he left Ole Miss saying, I can't win with this team.
So if he comes out on top, he can be like,
this is what I was talking about, you know?

Speaker 3 (28:35):
And then like, I don't know if this is two.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
Proves his point, yeah.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
Right, and I don't know if this is two reasons
or two separate reasons, but if at the end, if
he does, you know, put boots to his ass and
he comes out on top, he can say it's like, yeah,
out of respect, I'm not going to take it easy
on them.

Speaker 9 (28:53):
Like, he would spin it that way.

Speaker 8 (28:54):
I don't know if those are two separate.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
Things or if it would all be together, but that's
why I think he would run up the score.

Speaker 5 (29:01):
How's the whisk going, Dan?

Speaker 2 (29:02):
It's three to three. So the reason why.
He would run it up is because things left were
left weird that he wanted to prove his point that
you can win at LSU, but you can't win at
Ole Miss. And I'm paraphrasing.

Speaker 5 (29:18):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
And then the other part of why he would is
that he doesn't want to, he doesn't want to go
soft on them in a way that he wants to
respect them. 100 against 100, right?

Speaker 5 (29:29):
Correct.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
You wouldn't want to go easy. It wouldn't be right.
The cons are that he could make the Ole Miss
coaches look bad. He could make the Ole Miss players
look bad, and to Jason's point, karma is a B.
That's why you wouldn't choose to run it up. I
think that he would run it up against Texas A & M,
I think he'd run it up against Alabama, I think

(29:49):
he'd do it against Texas and do it against Tennessee,
all formidable opponents in the SEC that he's going to face.
I just think It's a different conversation. I'm not saying
that it's different, Monsi, so I'm not saying that you're
wrong in this or that your reasons are wrong. I
just think it's a unique sort of deal, and I
think that there's reasons on why he would and why
he wouldn't run up the score against his former school.

(30:11):
I'll give you a reason why I think he would,
because Ole Miss may be right there with LSU when
you're trying to decide who's in the 12-team playoff bracket.

Speaker 5 (30:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
And to sit there and say that you have a
30-point victory over another school that also may be right
in the running with you, that's a pretty good trump
card to have in your back pocket. So just for
college football playoff reasons, I think that would be a
reason why Lane Kiffin would want to run up the score.

Speaker 9 (30:35):
Exactly.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Just to show the strength. Jason, Isaac, Chris, you guys
have any other pros? Chris, Perfette?

Speaker 5 (30:41):
I just.

Speaker 10 (30:42):
I don't see Lane respecting anyone at this point. The
idea that he's going to call off the dogs if
he gets a chance to run roughshod on Ole Miss,
that's never been in his character. He's always, it's either
been Lane has been humiliated everywhere he's gone, or once
he gets the upper hand somewhere, he just flexes power

(31:04):
and humiliation where he can. And that's ultimately who Lane
is at the end of the day. And he's proud
about it, and he will say it directly to your.

Speaker 5 (31:11):
Face, too.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
Now, ultimately, Ole Miss is going to have a say
in this.

Speaker 9 (31:14):
Sorry, just real quick.

Speaker 10 (31:16):
During that halftime, he was talking about how I should
have played my pro players.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (31:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
We talked about, yeah. With the, the comment to Holly
roll or imagine what it would have been with pro
players knowing that the mic was on and, and making
those comments.

Speaker 5 (31:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
He can't, he can't not be Lane Kiffin like in
that way. And there's the funny thing about it is people,
I think really got to love Lane Kiffin, whether it
be as the Alabama offensive coordinator for what he did
at FAU or what he did at Ole Miss, but
he couldn't get away. And, and, he couldn't get away
from that and wants to win a national championship and

(31:55):
feels that his best opportunity to do it is at LSU.
So he has no problem being the villain there. Like that's,
it's such a WWE sort of, you know, heel baby
face heel sort of turn that he can't get away from.
And I think ultimately it's just, He's Lane Kiffin. Ole
Miss can put up a fight. I'm not saying that
LSU is going to roll, but if there is an
opportunity to do what they did to Clemson, I'm just wondering.

(32:17):
The game is in Oxford as well. It would have
been different, honestly, I think, if the game was in
Baton Rouge, where maybe it doesn't prove a point, but
he loves being the villain, and you're going to have 60,000,
70,000 rooting against you, and if he gets booed on
the pregame announcement or however it's going to be, That's
going to be reason enough. So I think that would

(32:38):
be a pro to do it.

Speaker 4 (32:40):
Yeah, I think he he likes to be the villain.

Speaker 8 (32:42):
I'm adding to that.

Speaker 4 (32:43):
And I feel like he's actually going to try to
run up the score every opportunity he.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
Gets for the sake of college football.

Speaker 10 (32:50):
Sure.

Speaker 4 (32:50):
You know, like so you can say, look at the
entire year we dominated the entire. That's what he would
want to say.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
Yeah, it's fair enough. She's Monty Bolaños. I'm Dan Byer.
By the way, the pros now have it seven to three.
Even with the karma is a B. It wasn't a competition, Monty, okay?

Speaker 3 (33:06):
It was to me.

Speaker 5 (33:07):
I won. I won two.

Speaker 9 (33:08):
Two in a row.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Back to back.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Both illegitimate victories.

PCA tried to make it interesting. Brewers hold on for
that 4-3 win against the Cubs, but another homer for
the leading NL MVP candidate. Brewers continuing to separate themselves.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
Did you see he ran into Andrew Vaughn at first base?

Speaker 2 (33:38):
I didn't.

Speaker 9 (33:42):
He was booed, rightfully so.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
He shouldn't have ran into.

Speaker 8 (33:44):
Him at first base, but he did.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
There's good rivalry between the Cubs and Brewers. Cubs fans
like to call American family field, Wrigley North. Brewers fans
have also now tried to return the favor to Wrigley,
but a healthy rivalry, but Brewers get a big win today.
Speaking of the NL Central, the Cardinals were in the
news this past weekend for no fault of their own,

(34:11):
but the fault of umpire Doug Eddings, and it was
not a good ending for Eddings. Is that good enough,
Jason Stewart? In How we want to characterize not a
good ending for Eddings.

Speaker 5 (34:24):
I love that. I went with smug Eddings or smug
endings for Doug Eddings.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
Doug Eddings was the umpire who made Hansel Rincon of
the Cardinals alter his cap. So it was on straight
during their game on Friday. Oliver Marmol ended up getting
tossed as the Cardinal skipper after arguing with Eddings. And
then the next day, There appeared to be an apology
from Eddings to Rincon, and all of the other players

(34:52):
ended up seeing on both sides of the squad maybe
backing the Cardinals pitcher from the incident this weekend.

Speaker 4 (34:58):
Yeah, because it was a terrible decision by the umpire.
It was such an ego move from the beginning that
never left the game. It continued to lead into bad
decision after bad decision by this umpire coming down to
that call at home plate that he should have called
the player out and called him safe. It's just all

(35:20):
of it was bad. Like, it was really nice to
see that he did apologize, but there was so much
bad to it. It wasn't even just one thing. It
wasn't even just you saying, singling out this rookie pitcher
to straighten their hat out which wasn't even that bad
uh it wasn't even just that it wasn't you saying
not respect my field or whatever you the comment that

(35:41):
he made it wasn't it was just so many things
that was like man dude you really let this one
slip jason stewart i have.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
A lot of problems with the way major leaguers go
about their game nowadays but this kind of feels like
dan when we were talking about the new criticism of
kind of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, you're like, that
feels so 2024. Like, this particular issue feels like so 2010. Like,
CeCe Sabathia got a lot of stuff back then, but

(36:09):
there are so many worse things that major leaguers do
nowadays that violate my sensibilities. that even I, when I
saw this, was like, wow.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
God. Well, and I think his use of this is
not on my field is what rubbed a lot of
people the wrong way. To Monty's point, he then blows
a call later on in the game and people think
that he's siding with the Rockies who benefited from the
blown call because of what happened earlier when it seemed
to be all of his doing. I just don't know
how you can be a major league umpire.

Speaker 9 (36:38):
And Have your feelings like that in it?

Speaker 2 (36:40):
Well, have your feelings that, but also not remember your history.
I mean, of CeCe Sabathia, of Dontre Willis, of these
other players who have worn their hat like that. And
to not recognize that and feel like it is your
duty is, To make a uniform adjustment. It's one thing
if there's like a chain that's reflecting that's difficult to

(37:01):
see for the batter or same colored sleeve or whatever.
But this wasn't distracting. And to then say that he
got a complaint from the Rockies.

Speaker 4 (37:10):
Hunter Goodman.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
He said the name.

Speaker 9 (37:12):
Put it on someone.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
And they're like, no, we didn't say anything.

Speaker 8 (37:16):
He also said it wasn't even a real rule.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
It was an unwritten rule.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
It was a bad ending for Eddings this weekend. And honestly,
it probably won't get any better.
