Speaker 4 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Our friend Jake story Aali joins us from John Boy
Media his podcast talking Baseball and talking Yanks. They're killing it.
Checking out wherever you get your podcasts. Taylor still mad
at Brian Cashman. We'll get to that in the second.
But all I heard as I was getting ready to
do this interview with you, Jake, was you and Mikey
talking about a classic shell game.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
What the hell were you two talking about?

Speaker 5 (00:47):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (00:48):
It was don't I guess Wizard of Oz. Don't look
at the man behind the curtain a little bit. It was, Hey,
we got it, we got our starting short stuff. They
and honestly thank god because we interviewed Boone this morning
and if they didn't do that, it would have been
a pretty rough episode. And then it was kind of like,

(01:08):
all right, let's do it. So in a way I
got shell gamed.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Yes, in a way you did.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Yes, you seem to be upset about it, though, Jake,
I mean that happened.

Speaker 7 (01:16):
Oh the realization.

Speaker 6 (01:19):
Yeah man, it's as you get from these two too often.
And I'm sorry they're beating Yankees culture into you.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:29):
Man, it just a perfectly beautiful emotional twenty twenty six
Yankees day of the trade deadline. We're gonna get these
many pitchers. We might get a catcher, we might get
a third baseman, we might get a short sup we
did not, and then we have one of our best
comebacks of the season with our guy jose McFly, who's
just one of the best to do whatever the hell

(01:49):
he does. He said, the Yankees lost twice yesterday. They
lost by six runs twice.

Speaker 8 (01:54):
Yes, yeah, and that's just.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Hard to do, right, Yeah, it's hard to do.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yes, thank you for acknowledging, by the way, what mikey
AA Taylor have done to me with the Yankee stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
I mean, I appreciate it. No one else does that.
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
No, let's talk Mets, Stu Gotts, let's talk take it away,
talk Mets.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
What I don't want to talk about the Mets.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
I'd love to talk about football eventually and not the Yankees.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yes, thank you very much, Come ahead, Taylor two weeks.

Speaker 9 (02:19):
Yes, So what we were talking about initially was the
Yankees calling up their top prospect, George Lombard, who's their
shortstop of the future hopefully. But Yankee fans today we
can't even get excited about George Lombard because I am
so offended by Brian Cashman.

Speaker 8 (02:35):
This deadline.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
When when a.

Speaker 9 (02:37):
Kid is crying Stu Gotts, Yes, how do you get
them to stop crying?

Speaker 2 (02:41):
I don't know. For me, I drove my kid around
the neighborhood in the back of the car.

Speaker 9 (02:44):
That's one way you could do it. Or you could
put a shiny toy in front of them to distract them.
And the Yankees calling up their top prospect, Jake with
Brian Cashman distracting us from the fact that he had
another underwhelming deadline in the American League that feels as
wide open as that.

Speaker 6 (03:01):
Yeah, so I try to find I try to be
a logical sports fan, even though it's not what we're
built on. But that's where I try to land the plane.
If someone's tuning into talking Yanks. Hey, we're gonna have
moments where you're gonna absolutely hate us and some of
the Yankee stuff I'm gonna references either from the olden
years and it's crazy Yankee mentality, or I'm gonna be

(03:23):
mad about something Carlos rode On coming back, where other
teams if they traded for Carlos rode On coming back,
they would be excited about that. But that's not how
we operate that. With this Yankees deadline, my point of
logic would be zero shortstops got traded. Shortstops don't really exist.

Speaker 10 (03:41):
Zero.

Speaker 6 (03:42):
The only third baseman that got moved was Curtis Meat
and that was for young Connelly early, so that was
a totally different type of deal that. Okay, that wasn't there.
There's literally no supply, which if you want to get
Matt at Cashman about not having the proper supply for
the past five to ten years, I can't really argue
against that. But at this deadline I had no expectations there.

(04:03):
Two catchers got traded and you can't really defend our catchers,
and then a bunch of pitchers got traded, which is
just like you know, sometimes as we get new analytics
and new everything in the sport. It's just as old
as time. You literally can't have enough arms. The Dodgers
trade for schoobl and Bubitch. Who go look at Boobach's
last three seasons. That guy's era is in the two

(04:25):
So like the fact they didn't get pitching or catching
help is shocking. And then if you really want to
go Yankee Sicico stuff, it's the fact that they.

Speaker 7 (04:35):
Waited to call up George Lombard to the trade.

Speaker 6 (04:37):
Deadline because I'm guessing they tried to trade Volpi and
they trade to try Dominga's but either they value them
too much, correct or other teams don't value them also correct.

Speaker 9 (04:49):
Jake, I love how you came in with some measure
of a level headedness.

Speaker 8 (04:55):
I would say, yes, yes.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
I don't like it, by the way, but anyway.

Speaker 9 (04:59):
He mentioned he mentioned one of his co workers, Joe's McFly,
and this was Joe's McFly. After the deadline wraps up
at six pm, and he starts to realize the Yankees
don't have any more moves to be made.

Speaker 11 (05:13):
What do we have any news?

Speaker 5 (05:16):
Anybody last minute trades?

Speaker 11 (05:18):
It's done, The timer's done.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Joe Sherman will sow the Yankees may no other trade.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
Oh my god, they're serious.

Speaker 11 (05:30):
This is the most unserious team ever.

Speaker 5 (05:34):
Unreal ask deadline trash.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
They did it awful.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
It was pathetic what they did this deadline pathetic. The
Rays got better, the Red Sox got better.

Speaker 12 (05:49):
You marginally improved, they say't me, there's no way you
prospic hunts it death.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
Bro, what a piece of deadline man. We didn't get
a single bullpen arm. I don't even know how how
the pen's going to get through August. We didn't get
a catcher. What did we do? We got nothing. We
did nothing.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
That's how you do it, Jake. I mean, I gotta
be honest. Get me fly on the show, by the way.
I mean, let's go.

Speaker 7 (06:14):
I no, I think I just fually pitted myself.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
That that was my bad.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
But there's a reason he's the best of what he does. Again,
I have those thoughts. We let them out in live time,
and then I try to be logical. But yeah, it's
also I'll tell you what if you want to see
the next point where I'm so because I have kind
of I'll say this, I have a bubbly personality when

(06:38):
it's on it's one when the Yankees lose, which I
think they're going to do this year at you know,
whether that's October fourth or October twenty second or whatever.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
That is when the season's also right, that's.

Speaker 6 (06:51):
When I have that old Italian man moment where I
talk very stoic and I talk very basic, and it's how.

Speaker 7 (06:57):
Did they do this?

Speaker 6 (06:58):
How did they not do this? How could they think
this was real? Turn the mics off, let me go,
and that's probably that's my next loud but not loud moment.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
All right, I want you on during those moments. Okay,
that's what I want you on.

Speaker 7 (07:10):
All right, Okayne?

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Is McFly? Okay? I mean.

Speaker 6 (07:15):
That's such a loaded question. Save answers, no, save answers no.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Okay, thank you, go ahead, Mikey.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
I think fans, and by fans, I made McFly and
Taylor and myself, not you, because you're way too logical
right now are more angry, not necessarily of yesterday, but
it's the last six eight months, like this is a
bad deadline after a bad off season, where he basically
just said, man, we'll be fine.

Speaker 11 (07:44):
We did we did all right before, we'll do it again.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
It's man, if you want to do six eight months,
if you want to do six eight years.

Speaker 7 (07:52):
Like we could.

Speaker 6 (07:52):
Rack it up a lot of different ways that yeah,
there's there's just what this deadline felt like, which if
you will, okay, let's start going insane. This deadline felt
like them tripling down in their beliefs. Let's bring in
two sluggers. I don't even know if we got positions
for them, but how about two more sluggers they don't

(08:13):
necessarily grind out at bets. Luis Carcia Junior probably deserves
some more respect what he has been doing to Righty's
It was lead in the NL and slugging again, slugging,
and it's the Yankees just don't believe in team building anymore,
Like they don't believe in Hey, you need grinders at
the bottom, or we need this guy to get on base,
or you need different looks in their lineup. No, it

(08:36):
feels like of all the analytics and information we've pumped in,
they've somehow come back to like more homers might win,
and it's never it hasn't worked for them. It hasn't
worked for them in sixteen years. They went to the
World Series once the New York Yankees, and they got
embarrassed at that World Series. But they're tripling down on

(08:58):
modern beliefs, which is insane, insane.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
It feels to me like the two words that were
spoken the most in all the meetings when they were
discussing what to do was short porch. I feel like
that's all they cared about. Hey, hey, imagine this guy
with the short porch. We'll nail that.

Speaker 7 (09:16):
Well, it's that, And then hey how about this.

Speaker 6 (09:18):
I'll or rewind four years, twenty two, twenty one when
they were all right handed, but their way they were
going to beat the system was rities that could hit
it to the short porch. Know who's really good at
hitting it to the short porch? Lefties? And now they
reverse course to get those lefties back, because every legendary

(09:39):
Yankee ever is a big lefty that hit home runs
before the rest of the league figured it out. So yeah, man,
I it's still in there. I'll get loud with you
guys if you want.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
All right, we have a sound of both mikey A
and Taylor getting loud. It's the first baseball argument I've
heard since nineteen eighty seven. Sin's Mike and Chris did
it on WFAA in New York. We're gonna play this ound.
Just know that Taylor, while he's talking, Mikey A is
holding his hands up in the air in disagreement. All right,
So here, here's this sound, Taylor and Mikey A having

(10:12):
a baseball brawl.

Speaker 8 (10:14):
Don't put your hands up like that. What do you
put in your hands up?

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Yes to fights?

Speaker 12 (10:17):
A team, it's a team full of first basement in
DH's Mike, you gotta play in the field, who's catching,
who's playing shortstop, who's playing right and left field?

Speaker 11 (10:27):
With your two.

Speaker 12 (10:28):
Outfielders hurt, you're went and got a second basement first
baseman when.

Speaker 11 (10:32):
Those are the totly two spots that.

Speaker 9 (10:34):
You're not moving, Mikey, they got a hitter. They got
a hitter.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
I mean too, mcflies, how about that?

Speaker 7 (10:41):
Huh, it's the best.

Speaker 6 (10:43):
It's the best. It's that, you know, I know you
said that. You haven't heard that since eighty seven. There
these baseball sikos were re emerging. I don't know what
happened during the two thousands. I don't know if like
Curry's three point shots were just so cool or what happened.
But we're appearing from the woodwork Man and we exist.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Yeah, lebron to the heat happened for me at least.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
I mean, I don't know what anyone else's excuse is,
but that's mine.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
You know.

Speaker 8 (11:07):
It was a big one.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Yes, Dodgers of the field. Who would you take.

Speaker 7 (11:12):
Dodgers or the field Dodgers?

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Yeah, you would easily. Wow, that was easy for you. Huh.

Speaker 6 (11:18):
Yeah, I as I'm balancing logic and non. I mean,
they've got one goal, one intention, and they they've been
operating with half their parts because they are they're playing
for something different. They added school ball and they're going
to get glass now. Snell Yamamoto has been one of
the best postseason performers ever. And that's before you get

(11:39):
to the lineup. And their bullpen was their Achilles heal
last year. And also going back to last year, they
didn't hit like their stats after the World Series were horrific.
I think they were on the interstate. I think they
hit in the ones and they won. Yeah, and they won.
So yeah, the al I mean, my god, whoever comes

(12:00):
out of there. But yeah, it's it's the same conversation
for the past two years. Can the Phillies clip them
in five games?

Speaker 7 (12:06):
Can't.

Speaker 6 (12:07):
Basically, you're only looking at the five game set for
who can clip them and it hasn't happened.

Speaker 7 (12:13):
So yeah, I would put money on them.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
How'd you feel about Freddy Peralta going from the Mets
to the Rays?

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Because you know how this works, Jake.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Once you leave the Mets, what happens is you pitch
like a Cy Young Award winner? Are you expecting that
from Freddy Peralta?

Speaker 6 (12:27):
Here it could it could be Ray's Dodgers again. Run
back some twenty twenty invoke all those pleasant memories, because yeah, man,
they had they had the deadline the Yankees fans wanted.
We added a catcher, we hadded a starting pitcher, and
we added a reliever.

Speaker 7 (12:42):
All right, nice like that.

Speaker 6 (12:44):
That's what a trade deadline is supposed to be for
every winning team going back the past forty years.

Speaker 12 (12:49):
That.

Speaker 6 (12:50):
Yeah, the Rays had a sneaky great deadline. They've had
a sneaky great season that and yeah, the biggest thing
for Freddy is getting the Mets off of them.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Yep, I just want to thank you. I just found
out the Rays won the World Series in twenty twenty.
How about that they made it to the World Series.
I had no idea. Yes, right, thank you for filling
me in.

Speaker 8 (13:11):
It was a good one.

Speaker 7 (13:12):
It was a good one raised Dodgers.

Speaker 6 (13:14):
That was before the Dodgers dynasty had really actually started.
And then they were illegitimate, they were angry, and now, boy,
they're just taking laps.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
I'll trust you on it.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Is there anyone you thought that was going to be
traded yesterday that wasn't traded?

Speaker 6 (13:30):
Ooh not really, Like I would lose you if I
started talking about it. Like your Cincinnati Reds didn't have
a big deadline, so you know, they should have sold
everyone they could have, and they kind of did it.
But I you know, Tyler Stevenson as our platoon catcher,
like no, your Mets, they emptied the cupboard like they

(13:52):
they did what they had to do. I think the
other guys other teams didn't necessarily want what they were selling,
but they they sold the guys they that.

Speaker 7 (14:00):
No, there wasn't around the league.

Speaker 6 (14:02):
There wasn't a ton of that except like the Athletics
and the Reds didn't sell hard enough and nobody needs that, right.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
How'd you feel about school ball? Because it's interesting. Baseball
has a problem. Only a handful of teams are trying
that when the Dodgers aren't the problem, they're one of
the teams trying to win every single year. But from
the Brewer standpoint, do you think they should have tried
to trade for school Ball? Because I don't. And here's
why you get school ball. It's a rental for a
couple of months. They're not going to sign him to
a four hundred million dollar contract, and eventually he's going

(14:31):
to be a Dodger anyway.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
What are your thoughts?

Speaker 6 (14:34):
Yeah, I guess for me, a we do hug prospects
too much. Like we're going Luis Castillo, who got traded
again this deadline a couple of years ago. He gets
traded from the Rents. He's the best starting pitcher available
and it was like whoa, the Mariners threw a package
at him. Go look at the package. It's negative war.
I think three of the four players are negative war

(14:56):
and the other hasn't made it to.

Speaker 7 (14:57):
The major So, like, we do get very caught up.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
And the one time that someone does get burnt by
a trade trading away a prospect who becomes generational, it
very rarely happens because it's so hard in this game
to be good that for me, my only hand up
moment is the trade they.

Speaker 7 (15:14):
Did with the Dodgers.

Speaker 6 (15:16):
I believe would have been there till the final minute
of the trade deadline. That why wouldn't you wait for
the Brewers, the Braid, for any other team to bring
an offer? Where the story is the Tigers called the
Dodgers on Saturday and said we want to trade with you.
Which again, maybe there's a nice handshake with Trek Skooble,
like you've been good for us, will take care of you.
But if I'm the Detroit Tigers, I want the best package,

(15:38):
if I'm trading away the best pitcher, And it didn't
really feel like that. But that could just be me
being salty because the Dodgers have turned into what our
Yankees used to be.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Jake.

Speaker 9 (15:49):
From a non Yankee perspective, what did you think of
Adlie Rutchman going from the Orioles to the Red Sox
Because the package Baltimore got felt like almost like a
superstar level package.

Speaker 6 (15:59):
Yeah yeah, Who's who's your favorite player of that Boston package?
Who do you love watching play?

Speaker 8 (16:04):
It's a good point.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
I don't I can't believe it. You shut him up
first time?

Speaker 6 (16:12):
Oh go look, go look at the Red Sox Mookie
Betts package, Like, this is baseball, and I know there's
some good ones. Hey, the Nationals for Juan Soto, they
got back some dudes. How's that working out for them
on the whole? Like I the Red Sox got Adley Rushman,
and if I see him playing in October, and if
I see him playing later in October than the Yankees,

(16:33):
I'm gonna be furious.

Speaker 7 (16:34):
And then hey, if.

Speaker 6 (16:35):
Two or three years down the road, one or two
of those guys turn into something great. They just traded
away Marcelo Mayer. It was top ten prospect for like
three years.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
They got a.

Speaker 6 (16:45):
Lefty reliever for a couple seasons. Like that's how goes?
How is Volpi? It's over? It's over that What trade
offers did they turn down for Jason Domingas? And now
what would what would you have traded Jason to Mingus
for yesterday? So the prospect stuff. Every year you hear
me kicking in a little more, like what are we

(17:06):
really doing? Yeah, what are we really doing? Because it's
really hard to be good at this sport. So if
you can get someone that you know is good at
this sport, go get them.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Do you think the lack of moves by the Yankees
would suggests that maybe Aaron Judge is not coming back.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
What do you think?

Speaker 7 (17:23):
I don't think so. I like the theory, I'll be honest.

Speaker 6 (17:27):
When I was watching the Yankees lose twice last night,
I found myself in that theory yet again.

Speaker 7 (17:33):
But like, I don't know, man, No, I.

Speaker 6 (17:36):
Think the Yankees just believe in what they do so much,
which is shocking because the results aren't there.

Speaker 7 (17:45):
That they believe in their.

Speaker 6 (17:46):
Guys getting healthy, which they should. Like, I don't know
Belly's coming back, Like I believe in that Stanton in
some form, Judge was playing with the injury, so the
fact there was no surgery or anything makes me think
he can try to play through it. I don't know
what version of him you're getting, but it's going to
be a better version than whoever else is on the field.
That they they just believe in what they're doing, which

(18:08):
is kind of nuts because it hasn't worked.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Jake story Alley check about John Boy Media. Check out
his podcast. Those guys are killing it talking baseball ed

Our thanks to Jake story Aali for joining us. Last segment,
Danny and Mondola cod have joined us. Former Patriots wide
receiver coming up next, but first let's go to Sherman
Oaks Dan Beyer.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
As a sports update, we're talking running backs.

Speaker 13 (18:51):
Stu as the alunt of Falcons have made Bjon Robbinson
the highest paid running back in NFL history three year
extension with a deal that could be worth up to
seventy five million dollars. That would break down to twenty
five million dollars annually for Robinson, who's entering his fourth
year back to back fourteen hundred yard seasons. Robinson's deal,
according to reports, includes fifty one million dollars in guarantees.

(19:12):
Some more Falcons news. This one not as good though
for Falcons fans, as edge rusher Jalen Walker could miss
the season after suffering an apparent ACL injury and practice today.
According to the NFL network, Walker will undergo more tests.
The Bears and tackle Darnell Wright have agreed to terms
on a four year, one hundred and sixteen million dollar
extension ESPN saying ninety three million dollars guaranteed and his

(19:34):
twenty nine million dollar a year salary second highest in
the NFL amongst offensive linemen. Ravens gave wide receivers eight
Flowers a four year extension worth one hundred and forty
million dollars well. The Arizona Cardinals will start rookie and
third round pick Carson Becket quarterback and Thursday's Hall of
Fame game in Canton, Ohio against the Carolina Panthers. Top

(19:55):
twenty five college football coaches preseason bowl is out. Ohio
State comes in at number one, o're agon a second,
followed by Georgia, Texas and Notre Dame running out the
top five. Defending national champion Indiana is sixth and the
WNBA expansion team based in Cleveland. We will be called
the Cleveland Sirens. They will begin play in twenty twenty eight.
STU back to you.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Former NFL wide receiver Danny A. Mondola is with us
right now on behalf of USAA. What do you do in, Danny,
before we get started with you here with USAA.

Speaker 14 (20:26):
USAA, we got the official Salute to Service partner with
a boot camp. Today, we're putting some Navy guys, some
Air Force guys, and men and women through a boot camp.
Today we have the forty yard dash, trying to find
a quarterback. Anyone that can catch, can run fast, el drill. Today,
Shuttle we got the broad jump. Everybody's having a blast

(20:47):
out here. It's great to see and you know, hang
out with people that do so much for our country,
so much for men and women in America, and it's
great to him out here having fun.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
If you happen to find a quarterback and you send
him to the Jets, what do you think?

Speaker 10 (21:06):
Yeah, we got some good ones out here.

Speaker 14 (21:07):
I think the record so far is a fifty five
yard throw, so wet, so we got some people that
can really throw it.

Speaker 10 (21:13):
It's awesome.

Speaker 8 (21:13):
Danny.

Speaker 15 (21:13):
You don't look like a retired player. You look like
you could still play. Are you participating much out there
at forty?

Speaker 8 (21:19):
Are you forty?

Speaker 10 (21:21):
I'm forty?

Speaker 14 (21:21):
Yeah, No, I wish, I wish I played fourteen years.
Eventually my body just kind of gave up on me.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
It was.

Speaker 14 (21:28):
It's a rough sport, as you guys know. So I'm
happily retired, still staying active. But you know, I haven't
thrown a football on about a year, so getting out
here and throwing the ball around is fun.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
If I gave you seventeen games, though, how many catches, Danny?

Speaker 10 (21:43):
I can get a hundred.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
What hurts most on your body right now?

Speaker 14 (21:49):
I could, I could run, I could get in a
game and play one game. It's just recovering from that game.
I don't know if I could play two weeks in
a row.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Now, Yes, that's a tough part.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
But after all those years of football, what is the
part of the body that hurts the most right now?

Speaker 14 (22:02):
It's just my knees, my knees, you know, bone on bone,
not much, not much there anymore. You know, you only
get so much tread on your tires before you got
to hang them up. So you know, it's it's great
man retired. Life's awesome. Playing as much golf as much
tennis as I possibly can, you know.

Speaker 10 (22:18):
Staying active and enjoying life.

Speaker 14 (22:21):
Getting to come out here and and watch the game
as a fan now is really funny.

Speaker 15 (22:27):
Nice Danny, You I mean You've played for several teams
that the one that I want to talk about is
one you've only played for one year, and that was
in Miami Dolphins. And I was happy that when you
came it's my team. I was happy when you came
down here. But it was, you know, another one of
those seven to nine Dolphin seasons. It wasn't really great
and I think it's sort of floundered down the stretch there.

Speaker 8 (22:43):
What's wrong with the organization?

Speaker 16 (22:44):
Man from somebody who's been in it and somebody who's
been you know.

Speaker 15 (22:47):
More successful places, like is there a difference or is
it just one of those Like it's just you know,
a combination of things and it's all maybe just a
long term coincidence.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (22:56):
I mean you'd like to see, you know, some continuity
and inconsistency and and you know, whether it's the head
coach or the quarterback, and and and and as soon
as you can get those pillars in place, you can
build guys around, build a culture and and guys you know,
start to buy in. The best thing about playing in
New England was that, you know, Coach Belichick could put

(23:16):
on old film with Troy Brown and Wes Welker, And
there's so much continuity within the organization, starting from mister
Kraft to Bill and then Tom and when we got here,
we was just kind of plug and play.

Speaker 10 (23:27):
And you don't see that a lot in the NFL.

Speaker 14 (23:29):
I mean, there's there's so much changeover, so much turnover,
whether it's players get injured, coaches get fired, and it's
and it's hard to build a program, and and the
ones that.

Speaker 10 (23:39):
You see do so tend to tend to last a
little bit longer.

Speaker 14 (23:42):
So, you know, coach Rabel's out here doing you know,
a lot of the same things Bill, Bill was doing
here and and with with a much more you know what,
I see a fresh take on on the drills and
and and you know, just the vibes here in practice.
So you know, as much continuity as you can you
can maintain, I think the better you'll be.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (24:04):
On that note, the continuity note, especially with a quarterback, right,
especially the quarterback.

Speaker 8 (24:07):
You played with in New England.

Speaker 15 (24:09):
It made me think of a question that we were
talking about the other day on our show, is would
you rather have the best quarterback in the league or
the best all around roster in the league and your
quarterback is only you know, so good good question.

Speaker 14 (24:22):
I think, well, first of all, it's a passing league.
I mean, I don't think you can operate, you know,
without an elite quarterback. I mean, you know, first of all,
every quarterback's good. You got to be good to play
in the NFL. But at the end of the day,
if you have guys that have been in the NFL
when I was when I first got here, Tom had
been in the NFL for fifteen years, and you know,
he's seen every blitz, He's seen every coverage. He knew

(24:45):
where every ball was supposed to go on time at
the right pace. And I just I just I'd rather
be I'd rather be with the best quarterback.

Speaker 8 (24:54):
That was my take.

Speaker 9 (24:55):
Danny, I walked onto the team at the University of
North Carolina. Can you give me any reason for optimism
with Bill Belichick and Chapel Hill right now? Because Danny anything?

Speaker 10 (25:07):
Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 14 (25:08):
Yeah again, man, I would go to a lot of
basketball games and trying to find your your optimism there.
But you know, best of luck to down. You know,
he's obviously a great coach. It's a different beast in
college now. It's the wild West, you know, get you
guys coming in coming out, and and I l with
the portal and it's just it's it's the wild West.
So we'll see how it goes. The bottom line is

(25:30):
he's gonna get the best eleven players on the field
at the time and and try to win as many
games as possible.

Speaker 10 (25:35):
So we'll see.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
How do you think A J. Brown is going to
do in that offense? Man?

Speaker 10 (25:40):
I love him, man, he he.

Speaker 14 (25:41):
I just watched him for about, you know, twenty five
plays out here today and probably caught six balls. You know,
you can really, you could really feel the standard of
that room, you know, just go up another level, which
I think they have a good group. And you know,
the guys with experience now coming back from you know,
playoff run last year, getting to the super Bowl. They

(26:01):
got that experience and and and just the level of
play is.

Speaker 10 (26:07):
Is gonna be is gonna be higher with him in
the room.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
If Aaron Donald comes back to the Rams, Danny, should
we just pack it up and wait till next season?

Speaker 2 (26:13):
What do you think? Huh?

Speaker 10 (26:15):
I tell you what they're They're a great team.

Speaker 14 (26:17):
I played with Stafford for a long time and he's
one of the best I've ever played with he can
do it all. And and obviously to have you know,
a pass rusher like Garrett and if you get if
you get the big guy inside again, I mean, it's
it's gonna be tough.

Speaker 10 (26:34):
It's gonna be tough.

Speaker 15 (26:35):
Back to the Pats for a second. With with Drake
may in particular, because you mentioned by the time you
played with Tom Brady he had seen everything to be seen.
What kind of tangible changes or improvements should we expect
to see from a guy who had as much success
as he had last year at a at a young age.

Speaker 14 (26:51):
I mean, it's just I think again with with with
the experience of playing in big games too.

Speaker 10 (26:55):
I mean that's the biggest thing.

Speaker 14 (26:57):
It's like, yeah, you can play, you know, ten years
and not go to this the playoffs and not understand
what it means to play on the big stages and
the bright lights. And he's and he's got that experience
under his belt, you know, And and and again with
I guess you know, he's going into his third fourth
year now. I don't even know, but you know, you know,

(27:18):
the routine that you find as a professional in the
off seasons, it's it just helps helps players so much.
Jump from the third year to the fourth year, and
then you kind of start to see that the professionalism
come out.

Speaker 10 (27:30):
And you know, that's what I expect from Drake.

Speaker 14 (27:33):
He's you know, he's he's played in big games and
he's and he and he's learned what it means to
be a pro.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Danny.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
We'll get you out of here in just a minute.
We were discussing right before you came on whether or
not any of us were handy around the house.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Are you a handy man around the house.

Speaker 10 (27:46):
I'm handy man.

Speaker 14 (27:47):
I love it, really really, I'm a big, a big
yard work guy lately. Yeah, in Texas, it's hard to
grow plants. It's one hundred and eight degrees there and
it's we haven't got much rain. So I'm out there
water and plants at night, trying to get my green
thumb going in here.

Speaker 8 (28:00):
You got to do that at night because it's so hot.

Speaker 10 (28:02):
Yeah, yeah, water will just evaporate.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
Say it again so we can hear it.

Speaker 8 (28:08):
Handy, I'm Adolph.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
I like that.

Speaker 10 (28:12):
How about business?

Speaker 1 (28:13):
How about listen? This is the other thing we were discussing. Uh,
and it's a sports show. We're sorry about that, But
how do you feel about a moving company. If a
moving company comes to your house and is moving all
your stuff, do you feel the need to help the movers?

Speaker 14 (28:26):
I mean, they charged so much money. I just moved
houses the other day, and you know, I'm I like
to help them so my you know, my personal effects
don't get broken. It's like they're moving vases and artwork
and stuff like that. I'll help them in that degree.
But they charged so much money. I mean it's like, hey,
get your money worth. I had a guy cramp up
and then I was feeding them gatorade and was working

(28:48):
his pailoff.

Speaker 10 (28:48):
He was cramping up in my kitchen. I'm like, here,
we need to get you hydrated.

Speaker 8 (28:53):
You didn't pick up the couch for him, You just
gave me.

Speaker 10 (28:55):
Let him earn it.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
He gave you the old cramps.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
Oh Tom, Uh, last thing on the way out before
we promote us a a again.

Speaker 5 (29:05):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
We've been asking every guest this Indiana basketball school or
football school.

Speaker 14 (29:11):
I mean, I'm a I'm a huge Bobby Knight fan.
I went to Texas Tech to watch Bobby Knight low
key coach basketball. So I've always been a fan of
of who's your basketball? I think, Uh, their football team now.

Speaker 10 (29:26):
I mean yeah, they have.

Speaker 14 (29:27):
They have number one draft pick, they had a great quarterback,
Heisman Trophy winner, and and they're the top dogs, got
a great coach, and they seem to be on top
of it now.

Speaker 10 (29:35):
So you know, I'm written for him.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
If I told you way back when, when you were
in college.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
That Texas Tech in Indiana one day would rule college football,
you would have told me.

Speaker 10 (29:43):
What, Let's go on our way out Texas Tech.

Speaker 14 (29:49):
We got great supporters who got you know, great alumni,
and we got we got a good team this year.

Speaker 10 (29:54):
We'll see, we'll see how we go.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
All right, one more time on the way out, tell
us again what you're doing with us.

Speaker 10 (29:58):
A A yep, USAA.

Speaker 14 (30:01):
You know, we're having a boot camp out here, official
sponsor here of the Patriots, and we're just getting the
men and women that serve our country out here to
play football, test their skills in our combine drills and
and and have some fun.

Speaker 10 (30:15):
Spread the love of the game.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
All right, man, keep up the great work. We appreciate
the time, and we hope to talk to you again soon.

Speaker 10 (30:21):
Thank you, boys, have a good one.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Thank you Danny.

Speaker 4 (30:23):
Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
Live Weekday, said three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
We will get to the one hundred greatest baseball players
of all time, the one hundred greatest dot com. It's
the top one hundred baseball players of all time according
to a guy named Jake. But before during the break
here is he had some odd tennis takes that I
wanted him to share with the audience.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
If you don't mind, I have to trash Taylor Fritz.
It's okay.

Speaker 15 (30:55):
So Taylor is very good at coming up with names
that can note stuck and such, and so when I
said this might have been a freebee for him when
I said things were on the Fritz and he said
Taylor Fritz, and then he said athletes that cannote dysfunction,
and he hit us with Jordan Stall, which was great.
It made me think of how much it's not that
I dislike Taylor Fritz specifically, well, it seems like you do.

(31:18):
It's just what he represents in terms of American male tennis.
It's like when I grew up, I used to like
skip school to watch Andre Agassi or maybe Pete Sampers
every once in a while, and you know a lot
of times those guys cashed in. I was not a
Courier fan, but he won some majors as well. And
ever since then, we got the one from Andy Roddick
in the US Open, and it's just been a bunch

(31:39):
of disappointing dudes. And that's all that. Taylor Fritz continues
to disappoint and it's just like, Okay, what he represents
I don't like he looks like a country club.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
Well he does. He has to put it on the poll.
Just Taylor Fritz look like a country club.

Speaker 8 (31:51):
Like Ben Shelton wins something.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Please Please, So what you're saying is good but not
good enough?

Speaker 15 (31:56):
Yeah, And like, look, I get it, you're in the
wrong area. You're in the era of a Nadal and
Joker and now sinners up there with an Alcaaz. But
be one of those guys. How about we develop an
Alcaaz here in the US.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
I mean, those guys are great.

Speaker 1 (32:09):
Is it odd that is he skipped school to watch
Agacy or Sampras. Skipping school for Opening Day is one thing,
I mean, but to watch a tennis match.

Speaker 15 (32:19):
It really only happened during the French Open, because I
think it's the only one that lined up with Hey,
these matches are happening in the day here Eastern Standard time,
and they're big ones.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
I have never cared about a sporting event enough to
skip school. Really, wow, I mean out other than going
to opening day.

Speaker 15 (32:36):
No NCAA tournament that didn't make you want to skip
school a little bit.

Speaker 8 (32:40):
Come on.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
Not a tennis match, though, I mean really, that's just
the point was.

Speaker 8 (32:44):
I just didn't need to go to school that often.
It was just kind of an annoyance.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
Have you seen the Nadal documentary?

Speaker 16 (32:50):
Not do they address why he doesn't work out his
right arm?

Speaker 2 (32:54):
No? No, no? Then rafa, Hey, I got you man,
you were hurts. We get it. You were in pain,
your foot hurt. I got it, I got you, I
got it. That's the entire movie.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
The whole thing is Rafael on the doll and his
foot not being able to fit into a sneaker.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
I mean yeah.

Speaker 15 (33:14):
Most of the times when I see like the subject
of a documentary, and if it's an athlete, I'm like,
do I think they have a really interesting story?

Speaker 16 (33:21):
No, I'm not gonna watch that one.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
I mean, Raphas is interesting he played an entire career
through pain.

Speaker 16 (33:29):
But we got it right. You know how many people
play through pain?

Speaker 2 (33:32):
Yeah? Yeah, I'd like to bring that game back. I
got you.

Speaker 8 (33:35):
I got you from Mark Hackman Stable.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Hey, Rafa, I got you. You're hurt, you're injured, you're
not feeling good. Gotcha.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
Anyway, let's get to this list of the one hundred
greatest baseball players.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Thank you for sharing your tennis takes with us.

Speaker 8 (33:48):
Yeah, no problem.

Speaker 16 (33:49):
Thank you for couching Adam.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
It was a private conversation. He didn't want to blast
Tailor friends. He does look like a country club, there's
no question about it. We left off at number fifty eight.
Trist speaker. I would like to mow through as many
of these names as possible because I'm tired of this
damn list.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Your boat you mute it.

Speaker 11 (34:08):
I was gonna say, yeah, you don't love this list.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
I don't love it. I don't know what's good. I
don't like it. Tony Gwyn at eighty something is unfair.

Speaker 15 (34:16):
It's just wrong exciting from us.

Speaker 1 (34:20):
Why come on with us when we're promoting his website
every single day?

Speaker 2 (34:24):
All right?

Speaker 1 (34:25):
So fifty seven, Mikey fifty eight again was Tris Speaker
a great player back in the forties.

Speaker 8 (34:29):
I think you've been.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
Earlier, No earlier than that, Relliens, Okay, sorry.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Number fifty seven our third active player, Freddy Freeman.

Speaker 15 (34:42):
Really, man, Taylor, you put him on this level because
I know he's won a lot and he's done some stuff,
but like, for some reason, I don't consider him on
this level.

Speaker 9 (34:50):
I think Freddy Freeman has earned his place on this level,
especially with this recent Dodgers run. But Vlad Guerrero was
below Freddy Freeman. And my gut tells me Vlad Guerrero
in his prime was better than Freddy Freem.

Speaker 8 (35:05):
Oh yeah, your gut is one hundred.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
Well, your gut doesn't need to tell you that I
saw him both in their primes. I sound very old
when I say that of Vlad Guerrero was better. It's
why I don't like this list. Number fifty six.

Speaker 15 (35:15):
Before you go there, You know what I think of
when I when I think of Freddy Freeman, immediately fake teeth.
That guy's got the fakest teeth I've ever seen in
my life.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
The F and Freddy stands for fake teeth. How about
that number fifty six?

Speaker 3 (35:28):
Oh, Jake, I had such high hopes for you, and
now I'm very disappointed.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
You picked the list fifty six.

Speaker 11 (35:34):
I understand number fifty six.

Speaker 3 (35:36):
Anybody want to take a guess, fifty six being the
key number there.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
So who's the best fifty six?

Speaker 3 (35:42):
Joe DiMaggio, Joe DiMaggio, number fifty six, Well, it should
be top.

Speaker 1 (35:46):
Fifty six game hitting street, right, Yeah, he should probably
be in the top ten.

Speaker 11 (35:50):
No, probably, Yes.

Speaker 15 (35:53):
You know what that used to be a number that
I knew right off the top of my head.

Speaker 8 (35:57):
I was like, oh, I get that reference. It took
me a minute.

Speaker 16 (35:59):
I was like, wait, what what did he wear? Number
fifty six? And I was like, oh, yeah, the hitting streak.

Speaker 15 (36:04):
It's almost like if they didn't make that movie sixty
one by now, we'd forget that that was the home
the big home run number for so long.

Speaker 9 (36:10):
Now I know he's doing a thing trying to be cute,
putting here at at fifty six. Not cute, Jodanmaggio last
three years to military service. How much higher on this
list would he have been up if he didn't miss
the forties for a World War.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
I want the top one hundred.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
I don't want cute Okay, like, I don't the next
guy at fifty five. I don't want him at fifty
five because one year he get fifty five homers.

Speaker 8 (36:31):
Maris was sixty one.

Speaker 11 (36:34):
Goosebumps.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
I just googled, told me what to one is.

Speaker 15 (36:40):
Joe DiMaggio at top twenty player in baseball history? Immediate
AI overview. Yes, Joe DiMaggio was widely considered a top
twenty player in baseball a lot.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
According to Jake. Number fifty five.

Speaker 11 (36:51):
Cute, yeah, number fifty five. You then go to Alexander, who.

Speaker 8 (36:59):
Literally don't know who that is.

Speaker 3 (37:00):
That's a starting pitcher from nineteen eleven to nineteen thirty.
I'm sure he had good Grover Alexander number oh, Grover
hits a whole different person.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
Grover Alexander one of the greatest pitchers of all time.
I mean, Peter Alexander. I don't know, Tay look at
him back in the day.

Speaker 11 (37:17):
Number fifty four, Christy Matthewson.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
Pretty good, okay, Yeah, can you look up how many
wins Grover Alexander had, Tailor gree seventy three.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
Jesus Christ what a career compiler? Yeah, how many years?

Speaker 1 (37:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (37:31):
But Grover Cleveland pitched in the era when they had
double headers, and it was like Grover Cleveland's in for
his seventeenth inning of work today.

Speaker 8 (37:38):
Yeah, yeah, three man pitching rotation.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
Yeah, you would have went yard on Grover.

Speaker 5 (37:43):
Right.

Speaker 8 (37:43):
Hey, Grover Cleveland just threw his six hundredth pitch today.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Whose voice are you doing? The Then he pitches tomorrow too.

Speaker 15 (37:48):
Yeah, well, he's combining old school broadcasters with like kids
got gumption with gangsters back in the day.

Speaker 9 (37:56):
It's a seven game series. Grover Cleveland's pitching every game
this series.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
That was the time, man, I gave you ten at
bats against Grover Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Haven't he hits it? You're getting Taylor nine for ten,
You're about nine hundred.

Speaker 15 (38:12):
I mean, a time machine would be the greatest thing
in the world, just just to prove him right or wrong.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
Can you look up Matthewson's numbers? Check out his wins.
I want to see his win total. I want to
hear his wind to and when did he pitch?

Speaker 2 (38:23):
By the way, he's.

Speaker 11 (38:26):
Christy Matthewson picked. She pitched nineteen hundred to nineteen sixty.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
Jesus Christ.

Speaker 9 (38:31):
I just looked up on Google Grover Cleveland. They estimate
his fastball reached low to Maitland eighties.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
Grover Alexander, Yes, Grover, Alexander, Grover Cleveland, Alexander, I believe yes.

Speaker 8 (38:43):
Grover from say yeah Grover Cleveland Alexander.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
GCA, Yes, what another president. I'm tired of the list.

Speaker 8 (38:52):
I hate this list.

Speaker 15 (38:54):
I feel like any president back they could probably average
at least two hundred.

Speaker 11 (38:58):
Then let me plow through it. Lets keep talking about it, all.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
Right, plow through. Give us five names right now.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
Fifty three, Yogi Barra, fifty two, cal Ripken Junior, alright,
fifty one, Derek Jeter.

Speaker 8 (39:10):
Okay, now I'm really pez fifty, Pete Rose Taylor, Derek
Jeter not making the tough fifty.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
I gotta tell you it's the first time I've agreed
with Jake.

Speaker 9 (39:21):
Yeah, all these analytic people do this thing with Derek Jeter.
Oh he wasn't that great of a fielder.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
All right, take us to the end here, just rattle
off names and numbers.

Speaker 3 (39:29):
Go forty nine, Kurt Schilling forty eight, Carlia Streevsky forty seven,
George Brett forty six, Chipper Jones time
