Let's get this, you're.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
Our friend Michelle Beatle is with us. She is the
host of Run It Back. She looks like a Utah
jazz fan from the painting behind here, but she's not.
She is the biggest with her jazz colors.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
They really are you talking it?
Speaker 1 (00:40):
She's the biggest San Antonio Spurs fan that I know.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Her and Shay.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Serrano, two biggest Spurs fans. That, yeah, he's in there right,
he's on the mount rushmore of Spurs fans.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
That he's a super fan. I love, I basically favorite
or reachweet whatever he puts outd.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
So yeah, is he Which fan base do you think
is is more confident or cocky or headed into the
NBA Finals? Is it san Antonio's And Beatles said right
before we started here that if it gets to a
game five, we were talking about something and me and
Taylor both have the Knicks in five.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
So this is an old money new money conversation, right,
old money super confident, but doesn't really show it all
the time, because.
Speaker 6 (01:23):
Why do they need to.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
They have all the experience.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
They're like, oh, we know what championships look like. That's
a championship team. We're good, super confident. The Knicks, I mean,
they didn't realize they were this until about two weeks ago,
and so they're just letting it all out because what
if we get trounced by this alien, at least we
had this to celebrate. So the Knicks sound more confident, yes,
but the Spurs honestly are We're just louder.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
Yes, I was going to say they're louder. They're not
the most subtle group of human beings to have ever walked.
So yeah, that that that helps a little bit. Me.
Remember last year, street signs got put up like it's
it's a thing, a thing.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Are you worried about Yorkers nick fans kind of running
over taking over San Antonio because I would be there
to crazy.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
Yes, yes, I was gonna say, like it is. The
pricing was so it's so it is. I shouldn't say
it was. It is so ridiculous that there is a
part of me that is like, are these bastards with
all this money and it come in here and.
Speaker 6 (02:24):
You know what?
Speaker 4 (02:25):
We have hours in a few hours, we're gonna know
because it is. Yeah, it's high, but I hope not
man this. The Spurs are doing what they can. They're
revoking season ticket holders who have tried to sell on
certain markets, so you know, you can only do so much.
We shall see what happens.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Are you headed to a game? Are you going to one?
Speaker 4 (02:43):
I am going to go to five like I went
ahead and reached out and I'm gonna get the tickets.
However I have I don't know, draw blood, donate whatever
egg I have left.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
If you're talking about that painting behind you, we can
sell it for some money.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Why are we donating eggs?
Speaker 4 (02:59):
You know how expense? If these tickets are dude like
they are, I don't make ESPN money anymore. It's crazy tickets.
Speaker 5 (03:07):
So I'm curious with Wemby. I don't think these guys
asked you this the other time you were here when
I was out, But when you saw him tell his
guys in the blowout, Hey hard fouls A are you
expecting that she's smiling?
Speaker 4 (03:22):
We don't know that, that's not confirmed.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Right, sure?
Speaker 5 (03:27):
Uh allegedly If that's what he's says, is that the
way that message was efficiently brought across to them. Is
that what you thought those conversations are like between you know, teammates,
and and secondly, what you think of it in general,
because it does seem like sort of the picture perfect
thing we want our athletes and those spots to do
(03:47):
and say right in our minds and sort of you know,
the history of sport. That's what the guys are supposed
to say in that spot.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
No, that is it is. It's I mean, I'm still
a little I don't even know what the word is,
oddly proud, and yet I know it's probably wrong, but
I don't feel that part as much. It just it's
this superstar. I mean, he did it in a way
that was it was legit, like a Tony soprano is
(04:13):
like a hit, like a hit was being ordered. And
they did it so quickly. That's what made its crazy.
And they said there's another one coming, like what, I
don't know why it was Jared McCain that got the
bad end of that. But yeah, I.
Speaker 7 (04:26):
Mean we do.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Maybe it's a French thing, maybe it's a euro thing.
Maybe that's just coming over from there. Like we sort
of have been brainwashed that you're not supposed to do that.
It's not allowed, and we frown upon it. But I
like it. I like the old school way. It's the
thing about what the hockey has, the goons we used
to have, Like you know, of a picture somebody gets hit,
the next batter up from the other team gets hit,
Like we do have these plays in all the other sports,
(04:49):
so why not. But to see it allegedly have its
origin from the mouth of Victor woman Yama to those guys,
it was. It was fascinating to television. For sure.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Who on the Knicks scares you the most? It has
to be Brunson, right, or maybe not.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Oh yeah, oh oh from a yeah, because he is.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
You know.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
The funny thing is is I actually love this. I
love the Knicks team, and I'm starting with Jalen Brunson.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
I gotta be honest, I hate that, like everyone, even
Spurs fans, are jumping on the bandwagon everyone.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
They become this cute, little lovable underdog. I hate that.
I mean no, no.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
I will say this in defense, like I did date
someone who is a big Knicks fan for a while,
so I kind of was like brought into that, like, oh,
I'm watching way more of these games that I normally
would like just Nicks. But Jalen Brunson is if you
don't like him, like, I don't know what to tell you.
I cannot come up with an unlikable, really quality even
though he is the mortal enemy. Now yeah, it's it's
(05:48):
yeah he is. Yeah, I am scared of him. He
will if things are going bad, you can count on him.
Fourth quarter, you can count on him. He'll just rattle
off twelve points and we're all going to be sitting
there quiet. So yeah, he's a little bit scary for me.
And then not knowing which version of cat from game
to game can also be a little bit Uh.
Speaker 6 (06:08):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
It makes me feel uneasy.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
If you will, if.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
I'm prying into your personal life, I apologize and feel
free to know into this question. But why did that
relationship with a Nick fan end because he was a
Nick fan?
Speaker 2 (06:18):
I mean, oh no, you would.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Think no one one's kids. One hates kids. Guess which one's.
Speaker 5 (06:23):
Which guess I I'll just leave the mystery out there
for them.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
One fifty helps everybody out.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
And so I'm curious about this because the Mitchell Robinson thing,
like when he's on the floor, it might be more
difficult based on some of the films, some of the
breakdowns that I've seen for the Spurs to defend them.
I've wondered about this. I'm sorry, sorry, I wondered about this.
Are they willing to go to the hack a mitche
or is Wemby and his ethical hoop situation? It's like
(07:00):
overpowering the entire organization, and they're like, no, no, we're
not going to turn to that.
Speaker 6 (07:04):
There's no way they're going to not turn to that. Right,
They're going to have to try it.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Especially with a bad hand. It's even it's gonna be
worth and less and less. Rookie of the Year is
going to happen here. And I mean the movie where
something breaks and now you're better at your skill right
before the something I.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Thought about all of a sudden, yes.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Jump shot, all of a sudden, he's the best offensive.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
He's better than Wemby. Dude.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
I could you imagine if we get like some freak
magical thing like that. No look of his rebounding is
is the most valuable thing, and we saw it in
the NBA Cup and he crushed, especially the offensive boards. Yeah,
I think you hack. I think you go for the hand.
I mean, it's it's all fair game, right like, once
we're all out there. I don't know pain levels, Like,
I'm not sure what he's dealing with in that regard.
(07:54):
It feels like it from what I've heard, and you know,
doctors being interviewed and whatnot. I guess it's a lot
more stable than had he not done some but I
don't know. I mean, pain is pain, and he has
been known to miss games, and so we'll see he
is vital though, I do think I think it's a
bigger deal than I think my like my co host
have wrought. I don't know, there's something about it. It's
(08:14):
like we were told pinky and now it's basically his hand.
So something feels a little off me.
Speaker 5 (08:20):
Yeah, I wanted to ask you about the Greg Popovich
of all this, and I'm not sure how much you
know information you have to the inside of it, but
for me, it's sort of twofold in terms of personal
like my dad had a severe stroke twenty one years ago.
He ended up lasting another nineteen years, which is great.
But I definitely feel a lot of that stuff with
Pop When I see him, it just brings back some
memories and the idea that he like him and I.
Speaker 6 (08:41):
I don't know what.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
It was, but I think he liked me a little bit,
and that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
So he was on our shows. He never does radio interviews.
He came on with me and Dan and I'm.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Curious, Yeah, right, you know.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
What you think the impact is there? How much is
there a four Pop situation? How involved he Because to me,
that's the best story. I love love Victor wimp Yama,
but that personally is the best story in the whole finals.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
It is.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
You know, It's funny. I've had a couple former players
reach out with that actual which I was random because
it was really unsolicited, and it was like the idea
that if they pull this off somehow, it's I don't
want to say closure, but it's it's sort of a
nice kind of full circle moment for Pop because obviously,
when you when you don't leave on your terms, it
just feels like unfinished business. And we know he's he's
(09:30):
around a lot. We see the images, we see the video,
we watch Wimby talking about him at the airport when
they landed after the elbow. It's he has a like
a very beautiful father figure spirit about him in a
way that not everyone loves. By the way, like I mean,
I do think that sometimes we've seen that, right, It's
(09:51):
not for everybody, But when you embrace it, and when
you've decided that you respect the hell out of pop
and you are willing to sit and listen, everything's going
to say. I just think it's it's lovely to see
and you know, Mitch Johnson also, like I just thought
all last season, I was like, what a weird position
to be in and huge shoes to fill, And he
(10:12):
doesn't seem bothered at all by the by the presence
of Popovich, which again that's a big deal. I don't
know that every dude would love knowing that, and I
love everyone's calling him Splinter from from Ninja Turtles, But
like the idea that he's just in the gym, Like,
I don't know that everyone loves that, So you can
tell there is just definitely a beautiful vibe and I've
(10:32):
heard it more than once that people are actually thinking
about that story as well, not just sort of the
players on the court, but the whole pop of it.
And so I'm glad you brought it up. I would
love to see them. You know, I'm not not super
cheesy like the whole do it for the Gipper. I'm
not really that person, but I love pop so much
that I would love for that to feel like, you know, Wenby,
(10:53):
he started the Wemby journey and look where it already's going.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
To see him in the parade doing the counting thing
like you did with five and then just do one
more n one.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
Of my favorite memories.
Speaker 8 (11:02):
It's so good Michelle, as a lover of basketball, knowing
what a title would mean to the city of New York,
can you take solace as a Spurs fan if you
are the storybook ending to the Knicks ending their title drought,
There's no way.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
I'm sorry, it all looks like a big old bitch. Yes,
no participation, You're good. No, I'm not here for your
storybook ending. And it does like kid Miro, buddy of
mine already reaching out today talking about me the best
team win. I'm like, yeah, that we are. Thank you
(11:39):
for're gonna win, Like we're not here, uh to let
you guys have a fun time where this is gonna
be an epic battle. And just because your drought is
oh god long, we're not feeling sorry for you. No, no, no, no, no, right,
I don't want any part of that.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Yeah, but I think I agree with Taylor, like taking
some solace. You lost to this fun you know, underdog group.
I mean, the nick fans are starving for this, Brunton.
When'd you chip your cap out of respect? That's what
you do, right, How about this?
Speaker 4 (12:06):
Losing to the Knicks won't hurt the way losing it,
okayc would have hurt.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
We'll take it.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
Those are two great. Yeah, I give you that, they're
different feelings.
Speaker 6 (12:15):
I would argue, oh wow, okay, yeah that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
It does.
Speaker 6 (12:18):
But you're close.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
Because we hate like we hate okay, see it's real.
Speaker 6 (12:22):
Yeah, but if you lost in seven at home, when
you're that close.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Seven at home, I can't even think about it.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Yeah, but you're not losing the chet that's the point, right.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
I Mean, it became very quickly learned that we weren't
losing to Chat.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
That was it.
Speaker 8 (12:38):
Losing the finals would be the worst thing that's ever
happened to me.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
I think to me, well, he said, he said, Jalen
Brunton changed his life.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
He has made his life better.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
And now he's saying losing this, coming this far and
losing to the Spurs would wreck his life.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
That's what he because Wenby is only going to get better. Yeah, yeah,
he is, Yes he is.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
I do I'll say this, and Ida said this early today.
I was like, I think there's a subconscious or maybe
even conscious level of a lot of us fans who
are we have this. We sort of just already resigned
ourselves to the fact that Wenby's going to go to
a couple of these bad boys. So it doesn't feel
we're urgent, whereas we know how desperate that city is
for the Knicks to do. I consider New York a
Knickstown before anything else, So I to me, it's like,
(13:21):
I'm aware of how big a deal this would be,
and you aren't guaranteed this next year again, nobody is,
but it just feels like Wemby's got a lot of
years left. So I get it. I get it.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
Taylor, You're gonna have to pivot, and so if you
lose this, just join the rest of the New York
crowd and say, hey, we'll get Wemby in free agency.
Speaker 6 (13:39):
He's going to love.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Next year.
Speaker 6 (13:43):
The Statue of Liberty was gifted to us by the French.
Here's our next gift, Victor Wembley.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
It's perfect.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
What a weird gift.
Speaker 6 (13:51):
Honestly, just had nothing to do with it.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
It's like, here, take this from us, dress enjoy, get it,
put it.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
On a pole, tailor, weird gift, whatever it was. Whatever
the gift was.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Set the scene in the Beatle household for me tonight,
right around tip off, like, what's it going to look like?
What's it gonna feel like? Are you having people over?
Are you watching the game by yourself? How do you
do this?
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (14:18):
I can't any other event game whatever. I'll go to
a sports bar and it'll be a blast. I will not.
I do not watch these games with anybody other than
my little pug and I have I have hosteds cupcakes
that are on their way because that staperstition somehow kicked
off in the last series and I kind of feel
like I need to at least have them present in
case things get weird.
Speaker 5 (14:39):
Chocolate like the white filling, What are those like the
chocolate ones with the white filling.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
Yeah, with the little white little Okay, Okay, I say delicious,
But now I'm like, yeah, I got spurs pants on.
I will light a Wenby candle, but if things go bad,
I blow the candle out. There's a lot of stupid.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
Yeah, you don't want other people around to say that crazy.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Oh it's crazy behavior. No, it's if people like I
will yell and scream and I mean, look that game
the other day was it was like a cardio workout
the way I was watching that. It was so much
fun to watch. So, yeah, gotta be alone though, I don't.
Being around people's not.
Speaker 6 (15:16):
Good for me.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Taylor has a dog. He named his dog Oakley. Is
your pug named after san Antonio Spur.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
She came from the shelter with the name Winona, and
she got one eye, so she's basically been one eye
Winny like this whole time.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Have you ever thought about having a dog if you
name the dog after san Antonio Spur?
Speaker 2 (15:33):
What would you name that dog? Sean?
Speaker 4 (15:37):
For Shawn Elliot's.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Really really not Tim not Dunktown. Donkin's a good Although I.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
Love dogs like a dog named Sean just sounds funny
to me.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Yeah, Manu.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
Bonni is cute.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Oh that's so funny. Do we want to make a
bet on this series here?
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Because again, I think you feel like this is going
to be a short series. We feel like it's going
to be a short series. It will probably go seven games.
I mean, how do you feel about your hair?
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Go seven?
Speaker 2 (16:04):
You both lose thought?
Speaker 4 (16:06):
Yeah, no, but we all win if it goes seven.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Yes, yes, on your home court though, so, I.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
Mean, yeah, that's that's the best. Then we get to
honk all. I've been in one. I've been to a
I was game five and fourteen and getting out of
that arena home was I mean almost ran over a
bicycle cop. That's how crazy the streets are. Like, I'll
never forget it, but the honking and it's it's chaos.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
Yes, absolutely, Michelle, how do you feel about your hair color?
You're willing to switch it up. You're willing to change
it at all if you want to bet on this series.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Taylor is willing if the Knicks lose here to dye
his hair silver and black after ceremony, I'll do the
Jeremy so on.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Yes, are you it's different?
Speaker 4 (16:38):
You're a boy, what about tattoos?
Speaker 1 (16:41):
But are you willing to dye your hair orange and blue?
I mean that I like tattoos or what like a day? Yeah, okay,
you want to do tattoos, Taylor? You willing to do
this here? They're permanent.
Speaker 8 (16:50):
Yes, I will get a little alien tattoo, and then
maybe Michelle gets the Jalen Brunson hand symbol of the three.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
I'm in.
Speaker 6 (17:01):
I'm in. Wow, let's do it.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
But okay, I've always I'm up for a tattoo. I don't,
I don't mean anything. They're all stupid, so let's go.
Speaker 6 (17:11):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
I do like that. I do all right.
Speaker 6 (17:14):
I might get the alien tattoo too, just for fun.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
I actually I might get both. You know what I'll
get even if I win, I might get the three,
but I'll have the alien like squashes three. Yes, so
I win either way.
Speaker 6 (17:25):
Like a laser yeah, an alien ship?
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Oh that's all I got it. Listen.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
I have to compliment you. You took the bet to the
next level, like you made this permanent. I was thinking
something that you can wash out in a couple of days,
but you have made this for lights.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
I love that.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
Yes, I've been waiting my whole life for someone to
take me up on a tattoo bet. It's almost forty events.
Speaker 5 (17:47):
You found your sucker, Michelle. I'm so with you about tattoos.
This one is an ex I haven't done anything to it.
It's just sitting there whatever.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Just sitting.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
Oh my god, I have one I got in Key
West that looks like something from like Caged. I don't
even know what it is, and I was drunk and
walking least.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
What time of the morning did you get that tattoo?
Speaker 9 (18:08):
What?
Speaker 4 (18:09):
I actually I have like three that are good and
the rest are real bad.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
Okay, okay, three you remember, right, like the process of
actually going through it. Yes, all right, Yeah, so the
bet is on. We have the Knicks in five, it
doesn't matter how many games they win, and but we
obviously have the next you have the Spurs, and tattoos
are on the line.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
This is very, very, very exciting. I'm almost rooting for
the Nicks to lose. I'll go with you, Taylor. I'll
go with you to get the tattooed tailor. It's okay, yeah,
worst case scenario.
Speaker 8 (18:37):
Anytime somebody asked me about the tattoo, I just say
I made a bet with Michelle Beatle, which is pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Right, you have a good story. Yes, it's gonna work,
it will all right. Well, good luck to you. I
know it's been a long time, a long drought, so
we wish you luck. Okay, thanks, funny, you too twelve years.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
Live Weekday, said three pm Eastern, twelve pm percent.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
I am so excited about this, so happy to see
her face.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Lucy Rodin is back with us. We have missed you
so much.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Welcome back, Lucy how I don't know why I'm welcoming back,
but welcome to the show.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Lucy, how are you?
Speaker 7 (19:14):
It's been a while. I miss you guys.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Oh miss you too, Lucy. We miss you too.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
Is it weird that Taylor wants to go up to
New York even though the Knicks are playing in San Antonio.
He wants to be in New York City because he
wants to feel the buzz of the Knicks around Manhattan.
He lives thirty five minutes away from that place.
Speaker 7 (19:32):
I mean, I will say I think it's normal because
the buzz is insane. I have seen people dancing in
the street today I saw a guy just walking around
with a Knick's flag like a cape. Just like running
around there is an energy that like you do just
have to be here to get And also I would
like to watch the game with Taylor, so I should
think it would work out for me personally if he
(19:53):
came to New York.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
Yeah, it's affecting our plans too. If Taylor went to
New York, his girlfriend would be hanging out with me
and Anthony. Otherwise she's hanging out with him, and I'm
not sure she's happiest about the situation right now.
Speaker 8 (20:04):
And Lucy, you know, you could take the kid out
of New York City, but you can't take the New
York City out of the kid. Me and Lucy are
kindred spirits where when we're in South Florida, we'd rather
be almost anywhere elsewhere else.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
So true, I made you move here.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Sorry, Lucy, tell us what you're doing here before we
get started with some college football. What are you doing
with betches media and home field apparel?
Speaker 7 (20:31):
So I'm so excited. I am starting sort of a
new thing, which is being self employed, and so far
it's awesome. My boss a little moody, but I could deal.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
With her if she's fine.
Speaker 7 (20:41):
So I will be partnering with Betches. Still a little
more information to come, some of it a secret right now,
but we're doing a series together that I'm so excited
you can look forward to the next few weeks. And
then I'm partnering with Home Field to be a part
of their college football tour this year, so you will
see me on the road. Everything is under the name
cfb Lucy because we're smart and we branded it and
I thought it was a great idea. And so yeah,
(21:02):
I get to talk about college football when I want,
with who I want on my own terms now, and like,
that's really really exciting. So I hope you guys will
give me a follout.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
How does your boss deal with sick days?
Speaker 1 (21:11):
How does your boss deal with you know, just in
general vacation time?
Speaker 2 (21:15):
How is your boss with that?
Speaker 7 (21:17):
I wish she was a little more chill. She needs
to stand ext or something. Miss girl needs to calm down.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
She loves college football more than anyone. I know.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
I'm serious, and I'm including Bear in that conversation. No
one loves college football more. I haven't gotten your thoughts
on this because I haven't seen you or spoken to
you in quite some time, But a twenty fourteen playoff
it seems ridiculous. They're ripping what makes college football. They're
taking out what makes college football great, and that is
the regular season flowing right into the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
What are your thoughts on this.
Speaker 7 (21:49):
Lucy, couldn't hate it more, couldn't hate it more if
I tried, And like, I think it's important for me
to mention that, like my team would absolutely be the
most befitted by a twenty fourteen playoffs.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
Her team is on I wan in the playoffs.
Speaker 7 (22:00):
Every single year, and I still hate it so much
that I can't I can't allow that. Like you said,
it's a regular season sport. I think Sark made a
really good point at SEC coaches meetings where he was like,
the playoff is the regular season, Like everyone has their chance,
we all start at zero zero. And I would be
okay with playoff expansion if I knew that all those
spots were going to the Big Ten and the SEC.
(22:22):
But they all are so like, just leave it alone.
I don't even think we should have gone to twelve.
Like that was too far.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Yes, it's the only good point Sark has made the
entire offseason.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
I mean, just keeps running his mouth. How about he
shut up?
Speaker 7 (22:33):
I made seriously, I think Texas is going to be
unreal this year because Sark is just like, I have
nothing to this right now, like he is saying everything
that I've genuinely like, my pick to win the national
championship right now is Oregon, and I'm like I should
change it to Texas. The way Sark is talking right now,
like he he is looking at the scene being like
I can literally say whatever I want.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
Uh Lucy, what's the best thing to come out of
the SEC meetings?
Speaker 7 (22:57):
That's a good question. Most of the time, the meetings
are dumb. I would say the best thing kind of
going back to the twenty four team playoff was Mike
Elko being the only person with a brain who came
out and was like, yeah, the twenty four team playoff
would be awesome for me personally. Yes, we're gonna make
the playoff more it would be so awful for our
sport and no one else is saying it. And he
(23:18):
was the only one to come out and just be like,
I know why people are supporting it. It's because it
helps them. It does not help anybody else beyond that,
and so Mike Elcho's honesty, Steve Sarkisan just like fighting
with everybody for no reason, none, basket, weaven all this stuff.
I don't know what his deal is. Yeah, as you
see coaches meetings, we got to get like I wish
they filmed it like reality TV style, Like I think
(23:40):
there should be confessionals and camera zoom in's and like
breaking the fourth wall.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Because confessionals is a great idea, yes, but who does
it help the most to twenty four team playoff All
I'm all in with Lincoln Riley. That's my guy. That's
the guy this is going to be. It's gonna benefit
him the most because right now he's a perceived quarterback
guy and that's all he is. He's done no winning there.
But now he'll be able to say, hey man, the
playoffs last year as a twenty one seed, he.
Speaker 7 (24:05):
Needs it so bad this year. He's like, if they
don't win this year, he's gonna get fired because they
had I believe, the number one recruiting class this year.
So like, if you don't come in and you don't win,
like you're screwed. It benefits Lincoln Riley, it very much
benefits Iowa. It benefits Like, what's a team that's always
run that twenty four mark every year? Like Kansas State? Yes,
y yeah, Like that's that's who this is for. And
(24:28):
I would love to see my team in the playoff,
but not enough to kill the sport, like not that bad.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
Iowa Sam, and Lucy, this is your home, okay, because
we have a board op. His name is Iowa Sam.
You guys are kindred spirits. Iowa Sam. Give me the
music here for Lucy or Goosey.
Speaker 7 (24:47):
I have props. I found them.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Okay, we have music. How about that?
Speaker 5 (24:51):
I mean, I will say this though, Lucy, Iowa Sam
like sort of sort of goes between Iowa shirts and
Iowa State shirts.
Speaker 6 (24:57):
I think he's just a fan of the.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
's not true?
Speaker 6 (25:00):
What them on you?
Speaker 2 (25:01):
I don't wear Iostate gear. What are you crazy?
Speaker 5 (25:04):
I've never seen him wear Okay, so then my wow,
this is Mandela old Hohorn.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
Like the second day I've seen you, it was a
cyclones But no way, I bet what's Mandela have to
do with it? Mikey just alerted me, Hey, we can't
hear the music. I'm not certain Lucy, any of the
you can't.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Hear your music again.
Speaker 7 (25:23):
I bet it sounds good.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
Don't worry, it does sound great. Yeah, it sounds amazing.
We have a six pat for you. Mikey A has three.
Taylor has three. Mikey A take it.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
Away, another peek behind the curtain.
Speaker 9 (25:34):
Forgive us, Lucy, because Taylor and I are trying to
write a few of these on the fly because they
took all of our questions in the lead.
Speaker 10 (25:40):
Up to Lucy's Okay, so let's start here, thick on
your feet, Yeah, Lucy or Goosey, the Big Ten is
the best conference in college football oreight.
Speaker 7 (25:51):
So my props Lucy is going to be this dog
stress ball okay, and is going to be this basketball
good Okay.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
Goosey is bad right? Well, no, it was confusing, so
thank you for explaining.
Speaker 7 (26:02):
Yes, yeah, Lucy, dog good basketball.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
I'm looking at you as I say that is a
basketball bad? Is he? Go ahead?
Speaker 7 (26:14):
Lucy, our dogs first ball is great. The Big Ten
is far and away the best conference. Indiana is bringing
in Josh Hoover. I don't really think they're going to
miss like a beat from where they were last season.
They're very, very good again, and I think what's so
interesting about it is they are now not building up
with these mid major guys. They're going and getting the
(26:35):
powerful guys they want in the portal. So they're only
getting stronger in a way that's terrifying to me. Michigan's
very interesting. I'm excited to see sort of what they
do with Bryce Undwood. I think they're gonna run him
more this year. I think it would be a lot
better because they're running him more this year with Kyle
Whittingham and changing sort of that offense up a little bit.
Ohio State is obviously reloading at every position. Oregon I
think could win the national championship. Penn State is going
(26:57):
to be significantly better with Matt Campbell and my easier schedule.
Like I just think the Big ten is better.
Speaker 6 (27:03):
I say, obviously, but all this information is new to me.
Speaker 8 (27:05):
So Lucy or Goosey, year two for Bill Belichick will
go better than year one, because how could it get
much worse?
Speaker 2 (27:16):
Jesus, I spent some.
Speaker 7 (27:18):
Time before this looking at you and see's schedule, and
so I'm gonna go Goosey just because I'm like, I
don't think they get I think they're four and eight again,
Like I just look at it and I'm like.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Wow, not twelve.
Speaker 7 (27:33):
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
I had him going twelve and l last year. I did, Yeah,
I did.
Speaker 7 (27:37):
And like I just don't mean to be disrespectful, but
I don't know what Bobby Petrino and Bill Belichick are
going to do together. Like, I just that's a room
I don't want to be in. That's that's a vibe
I don't really want to part of. Like that offense
was horrendous last year, and I don't know if Billy
Edwards Junior is the fix. Yeah, it's I believe they
have Miami on the schedule. I think they have Notre
(27:57):
Dame on the schedule, Like it's they're not like getting
the easier teams in the ACC. Virginia's on the schedule
as well.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
Like I just know, Okay, sorry Taylor, he doesn't Garry,
he want him fire, go ahead, Mikey.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
Lucy or Goosey. Clemson will have a bounce back season.
Speaker 7 (28:17):
I'm gonna go Goosey on that one as well. I
just don't really know what we're getting from the quarterback
position with Clemson. It's the vibes there. I don't know
if they've been worse like, I just I'm I watched
an interview with Dabbo and Josh Pate the other day,
and ninety percent of that interview was Dabbo just explaining
why people really shouldn't be mad at him, him just
(28:39):
being like, you guys don't even get it. We were
bad this year and then you know, ten years ago,
but then we were good the next year, and like
that's what's gonna happen, Like, you guys don't know what
it's like, Like you could tell that. I was like,
I just don't feel good about what has happened with Clemson.
And just like, surprisingly based off of what Clemson looked like,
you wouldn't know this. They had a ton of players drafted,
like they had a lot of players really good leave
(29:00):
and go off to the NFL. You just didn't really
see that production in college this last year. So they're
losing a lot they had. They finally used the portal
for the first time, Clemson goes out uses the portal
and then Dabbo's like, okay, ole, miss, we're gonna fight
to the death, Like I'm gonna Me and Pete Golding
are gonna fight for the rest of time, which is
very interesting We'll see how that plays out. But I
(29:20):
just don't think they did enough, and the vibes are
just so off right now, they're so wrong. I just
don't say getting better.
Speaker 8 (29:27):
This one's for Izzy, Lucy or Goosey. Florida has the
talent to winning Year one with John Summral.
Speaker 5 (29:32):
Oh Man, that is so goosey.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Hold up that basketball? Oh wow?
Speaker 5 (29:39):
Yeah, Now tell me why Lucy.
Speaker 7 (29:43):
It's I like John Sumrall. I like him. I think
that he is like the right culture guy for Florida
right now. I just like don't feel like I've seen
enough to be like, yeah, this is gonna be good,
This is gonna be good. Year one. I think Billy
Napier did so much damage just in the sense of
the culture of that program of we had eight million
guys on staff for no reason whatsoever. They had to
(30:05):
like basically, they're all like relearning how to do football.
Because if we watch Florida over the last few years,
there is talent there and it was right in front
of you, Like PJ. Lagway had so much potential and
so much hope. I have never seen a team that
is just like, for a lack of better term, so
stupid with it where you're like, you didn't need to
do any of that, Like that's the craziest penalty I've
ever seen it. Like it just doesn't make sense why
(30:25):
you guys are acting this way, Like everything you're doing,
you're like, I just say, I don't get it. And
that time, that like type of stuff takes so much
time to fix and to rework. And I really believe
in Summer, I think he was like the right guy
for Florida. It's just not happening. You're one that's exactly
feel bad for him. I feel bad because, like Kurt
Signetti has started this like you got to do it
(30:46):
in one year and you should go to the playoff
in your first year, and they've made it impossible for
anybody else.
Speaker 6 (30:52):
It's felt like they had so many things to try
to fix.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
It's just like, well, Jesus, but that's the ways in.
Speaker 7 (30:58):
The whiteboard, you're just starting from scratch, like it's it's
just full factory reset.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Yep, go ahead, biggy all right?
Speaker 9 (31:04):
Last one for me, Lucy or Goosey Lane Kiffin is
better for college football than Kurt Signetti.
Speaker 7 (31:11):
Who Wow, that is such a good, good one.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
I was proud of that one.
Speaker 5 (31:16):
Yeah, oh wow, great wow.
Speaker 7 (31:21):
College every sport, college football included, they need someone to
root for and to root against. And Kurt Signetti is
gonna get old this year where we're all like, Okay,
this was cool that Indiana's winning. I'm kind of tired
of it, Like I want someone else to win. Lane Kiffin,
you'll you might get tired of it, but you're gonna
watch everything he says. Everything he does. I already look,
(31:44):
I know that we all don't really hang out that much,
but September nineteenth, we're still not hanging out that day.
I got plans, I have like booked my calendar in advance,
I've reached out to people. It's Jude, I'm like, don't
even talk to me that again. Like I got stuff
going on.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
He is.
Speaker 7 (31:58):
He brings so much drama and intrigue and personality to
a sport for a long where for a long time,
a lot of coaches like it was pretty much just
like spur your like being crazy and stuff. There wasn't
that level of like intrigue and personality and persona in
college football. Do I think sometimes he's bad for the sport, absolutely,
but like it's fun to have someone to root for
(32:18):
if you like him or root against if you don't lovely.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Love him Lucy or Goosey.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
Off of that question, Baton Rouge is less racist than Oxford, Mississippi.
Speaker 7 (32:28):
God, that's crazy. I will go as so much has
been to both those places. I'm gonna go Lucy on
that one. Do they both have Confederate mascots? Yeah? Right,
but one of them is way more obvious than the other.
So it's just like, what are we doing? Guys?
Speaker 2 (32:44):
What are we doing? All right? I have two quick
ones before we get you out here. Open bar wedding
Lucy or Goosey. Open bar wedding guy walks.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
Up to the open bar, free alcohol and gets a
Shirley Temple Lucy or Goosey Lucy.
Speaker 7 (32:58):
Love to be like you. I went to a restaurant
as a kid. You guys want to road Charlie's. Yes, yes,
they used to do Shirley Temple's, but they were cotton candy.
So they just bring you like like like a spark
like sparkling and then a thing of cotton candy you
just put it in. Now is Chirley Temple in.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
New York City?
Speaker 1 (33:16):
I think that needs to come back, yesh final one
for us.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Lucy Nixon five Lucy or goosey.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
Lucy.
Speaker 7 (33:24):
The energy is there. I like Taylor to be happy.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Yes, wow in five though.
Speaker 7 (33:31):
Look, I have plans next week, so it would be
convenient for me.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
So what days are we not hanging out? September nineteenth, nineteen.
Speaker 7 (33:39):
I have SOE in class tonight, so that's kind of
tough try to leave, trying to put together. I got
plans next Friday night, so I'm like, let's just map
this out in a way that works everybody, Nick Spurs,
let's come together and look at my calendar.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
This is so in class in New York City.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Yes, a follower at c FB, Lucy. She is getting
together with media and home Field apparel. I can't wait
to see what.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
It is you're doing.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
I love that you're your own boss, and I love
that your own boss just let you do whatever you want.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
It's amazing. Yes, she does not.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
She's very sure. She hates breaks.
Speaker 7 (34:12):
It's like she's violating some code.
Speaker 6 (34:14):
I'm taking a mental health they no, you're not, Lucy.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
It's so good to see you.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
Thank you for doing this well, watch you around here
as often as you'd like to be around here and
It's good to have you back.
Speaker 7 (34:25):
I missed you guys. This is so fun.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Yes, thank you, Liz.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Thanks to Lucy Rodin. It was great to see your
great to hear from her. This is an odd place
for us to be finishing the show. I have waited
since nineteen ninety nine to be able to say I'm
going home to watch the next play in an NBA
Finals game. And Taylor has been waiting for this his
entire life, and yet we end the show today with
what the hell did Harris English do to you?
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Taylor?
Speaker 6 (35:21):
Harris English the Golfer yeah, who else.
Speaker 5 (35:24):
I just want to make sure because I don't think
everybody knows who Harris English is.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
So we have.
Speaker 8 (35:28):
Great talent bookers here. Our talent bookers are phenomenal. They
got us great guests. Yes, they've been trying to get
us more and more PGA golfers.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
Now, let me say this that in the past they've
been great with the PGA, and the PGA has been
great to us. They got me a Mikey Wyndham Clark
a few times, Jordan Speith has been on the show. Like,
They've been fantastic. But what happened again with Harris Bleeping English?
Speaker 8 (35:50):
So we had Harris English booked and then at the
last second we got a message from the talent bookers
that said Harris English is actually going to pass.
Speaker 5 (36:00):
Wait wait, the talent booker's just absolutely hung him out
to dry and said, hey, this isn't our fault.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
He's the one who's passing. They specified that. Well, that's
why they're good talent bookers.
Speaker 8 (36:09):
So my question for you guys is who the hell
does Harris English? Because he has now made an enemy
of this show. I will go out of my way
to root against Harris English. Now until the rest of
the time until he makes this right and he comes
on this show.
Speaker 5 (36:24):
We've had So you're saying, you've had Wyndham Clark, which
is one of the best guys going round.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
We had Wyndham right after he won the US Opening. Yes,
you've had Jordan's speech after he won the Masters.
Speaker 5 (36:34):
And has been, you know, one of this country's favorite
golfers for the last decade.
Speaker 6 (36:42):
Wow the homie and Harris English decides to pass.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
Does he have.
Speaker 6 (36:46):
Another trip to England ahead?
Speaker 5 (36:48):
Because he sounds like the most euro of British American
golfer of all time, Harris.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
English, how about you change your name to Harris amer Like, honestly,
I'm with you, Tailor put it on pole.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
Should Harris English change his name to Harris America?
Speaker 8 (37:04):
If he doesn't, he hates Amyria, be glad that anybody
wants to talk to you.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
You've never won a major, buddy, right.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
I think Taylor was shocked, but I said, yes, that's
gonna call him English Harris because he should be English.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
You know what, I don't know if I want to
talk to Harris English.
Speaker 9 (37:17):
A guy named Harris English has never chugged a beer
in his life.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
Yes, he's never been to a party that.
Speaker 9 (37:22):
Didn't serve you know, dry white wine, right like, no,
I don't.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (37:26):
If I want to talk to you always have to
question the people with two very obvious last.
Speaker 6 (37:30):
Names, not a first.
Speaker 5 (37:32):
I don't even know what his middle name is, but
there's no chance it's an actual first sounding a fair smith.
Speaker 8 (37:36):
I'm with Mikey, though, Harris English has to earn his
appearance on this show. He has to win a major
before we even ask.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
So he has so now he has to win. Okay,
that's fair. Okay, I'm with you. Win the Masters
